- 0:06Hello. What's your least favorite scary
- 0:08movie? Say we call the cops in the FBI,
- 0:11right? And we're like, hi, hello,
- 0:13please send help. Slayer King and his buddies are
- 0:15doing horrible things to us. They're going to be like, what
- 0:18did they do? And we're going to be like, we
- 0:21don't know because they've been secretly erasing memories with
- 0:23perfume, I guess. And the guys would be like,
- 0:26what? We would never do that other
- 0:28white guys we'd probably play golf with.
- 0:30And Heather and Camilla will be like, nothing but good times and
- 0:32fat fucking blunts over here, officer.
- 0:34And I'll be like, come on, guys, believe women.
- 0:37Here's my friend's lighter. And they'll be like, sure thing.
- 0:39Of course, you crazy fucking bitch.
- 0:42Welcome to What's Your Least Favorite Scary Movie?
- 0:44The podcast where we talk about the good, the bad, the ugly and
- 0:48the absurd, and all of our favorite.
- 0:49And least favorite? Scary movies.
- 0:51Because we believe every horror movie rightfully has this
- 0:53fanbase. Even if we don't, you always
- 0:55get. It my name is Travis.
- 0:56My name is Jesse, and welcome to a new month.
- 0:58Yep, it's February. It's Black History Month.
- 1:01Yep. Not gonna let that one disappear
- 1:04from our our minds, our consciousness.
- 1:07Nope. And this week we are talking
- 1:10about Blink Twice. Or don't blink.
- 1:13As or don't blink as we keep saying, yeah, before we do that,
- 1:18I don't have any announcements right to this moment.
- 1:21But Travis, do we have poll results?
- 1:23We do. OK, So last week we discussed
- 1:27tremors on the show and we asked everybody rock, paper, scissors.
- 1:33So as of right now, there's still like 5 hours left on this
- 1:37poll, but currently 30% thirty 6% rock, 43% paper and 21%
- 1:45scissors. So paper wins.
- 1:47Interesting. For now it could, you know,
- 1:50we'll see if it changes. If it does so I'll update that.
- 1:52Yeah, I. No, no, hold on.
- 1:55This guys. Yeah, we're suddenly this way.
- 1:57123 shoot. I got rocks, you got scissors.
- 2:03So yeah. OK, there we go.
- 2:05Yeah, OK. That was an easy one.
- 2:07That was an easy one, yeah. OK, are we ready to talk about
- 2:11Blink Twice? Yeah, yeah, let's do it.
- 2:14So Blink Twice premiered August 23rd, 2024.
- 2:17We watched it on Prime, but as of the beginning of this month
- 2:20you can also stream it on Sling, TVMGM plus, YouTube Premium,
- 2:24YouTube TV, Primetime, or Philo Premium.
- 2:26You can also rent it from Fandango at home or Google Play.
- 2:30Written by Zoe Kravitz and ET Freigenbaum.
- 2:33Directed by Zoe Kravitz, music by Shonda Dancy and special
- 2:37effects makeup by Luis Felipe Moreno.
- 2:39Starring Naomi Akias, Frida, Channing Tatum and Slater,
- 2:44Aliyah Shawkat as Jess, Adra Arona as Sarah, Liz Carabel
- 2:49Sierra as Camilla, True Mullen as Heather, Christian Slater as
- 2:53Victoria, Simon Rex as Cody Hailey, Joel Osmond as Tom,
- 2:57Levenhawk as Lucas, and Geena Davis as Stacy.
- 3:01Man, you really listed every single person in this movie.
- 3:04Well, you know, they all, they all had a role, you know what I
- 3:08mean? And not in just in the sense
- 3:09that they're in a movie and they had roles in the movie, but
- 3:11well. Of course.
- 3:13Let me ask you something. Do you think Christian Slater
- 3:16felt a little bit weird with the character of Channing Tatum
- 3:19being called Slater? I wonder?
- 3:22That's gotta be a weird. Feeling it probably was.
- 3:24It probably led to moments on set that were confusing.
- 3:27All right, Swater, huh? Sorry.
- 3:30I mean, character. Yeah.
- 3:33I I've just been thinking that ever since we watched it.
- 3:36Ever. Since.
- 3:37Ever since Yep, for like about 1/2 a year now OK, it's just
- 3:41been rattling in my brain. Okay, enough of that.
- 3:46We've got a very important game to play.
- 3:48Budget or Buck, Ted? Budget.
- 3:51Yes. I mean, this is so obviously
- 3:53budget. You can't have these people.
- 3:55Yeah, this shit, all this stuff. Yeah.
- 3:57Yeah. This is the easiest question
- 3:59ever. 20 mil. Yeah, it's twice.
- 4:02Yes, twice the threshold. Very firmly opening box office
- 4:06was 7.3 million, but it made a worldwide gross of 48 million.
- 4:11Wow, not bad. INDB score of 6.5 out of 10.
- 4:14Wow. Pretty good.
- 4:15Yes, all right. My 2024 theme is movies that
- 4:22have an important conversation, regardless if some people want
- 4:25to admit if it's an important conversation to be had or not.
- 4:28Let me guess, long wags? No, no.
- 4:31No, you up throw on legs on the. 20s and that's why I did it.
- 4:34OK, well, I'm happy about. That, but you know what?
- 4:36The first one is heretic. Heretic yeah, by the way, that's
- 4:42a pretty interesting theme you have there.
- 4:43Thank you. Yeah, I thought it was I I did
- 4:47the reviews for this movie 1st and I got really frustrated
- 4:50reading through the negative reviews on it.
- 4:52So I was like. Why?
- 4:54What? What were they saying?
- 4:56Do we really need to be having this movie?
- 4:58This is totally implausible. It's unreal.
- 5:01This is just leftist projection. A lot of that type of shit.
- 5:04OK. Yeah, so we're gonna start with
- 5:09Heretic, which I would love to cover on this show at some
- 5:13point. That premiered on November 8th,
- 5:162024. Budget of 10 million, worldwide
- 5:19gross of 59 million, and an IMDb score of 7.0 out of 10. 7 out of
- 5:2410, yeah. Holy shit, didn't realize it was
- 5:26that strong. Yeah, it's a really good movie.
- 5:292nd movie The Substance. OK, I don't.
- 5:33I have kept intentional blinders on this movie, so I don't want
- 5:37to know what it's trying to say. OK, I won't.
- 5:40OK, I won't spoil anything for you.
- 5:42Thank you. OK, that premiered September
- 5:4620th, 2024. Budget of 17.5 million.
- 5:49Worldwide gross of 76,000,000. IMDb score of 7.3 out of 10.
- 5:54I just want to be clear. It's not that I want to forget
- 5:56that that movie exists. I just want to experience it
- 5:59fresh. Yes, I got I like to go into
- 6:01movies I'm interested in blind and I've heard a lot of great
- 6:04buzz about that one. So I just don't want to have
- 6:06anything and I've already had things spoiled.
- 6:08I already know like body shit happens with it, but you know.
- 6:13Yeah, yeah. Third movie, Smile 2.
- 6:17What is being said about that? Oh, there's like a whole host of
- 6:21like, mental illness discussions to be had related to Smile 2.
- 6:25What was the theme? Substance use movies having
- 6:28important conversations, regardless if detractors think
- 6:31that they're important conversations or not.
- 6:33OK. Smile 2 released October 18th,
- 6:362024. A budget of 28 million and a
- 6:39worldwide gross of 138 million. An IMDb score of 6.8 out of 10.
- 6:45Damn, that's a really good movie too.
- 6:47Yeah, and that was one of those ones.
- 6:49I didn't know if they'd be able to pull off a sequel.
- 6:52Yeah, I really thought it was gonna be more of the same thing
- 6:54and I'm I was very pleased with the result.
- 6:56There's gonna be a third one too.
- 6:58Well, with those numbers, you can't be surprised.
- 7:01Yeah, I guess, yeah. OK, I've got 2 tag lines.
- 7:05OK, the first one, the one on the poster.
- 7:10Are you having a good time? That's pretty good.
- 7:13Yeah, second one blink and you'll miss it.
- 7:18OK well you get 2 blinks, so if you blink once you still have
- 7:25that other one. You'll be fine.
- 7:26You can blink once and be OK. The movie is called Blink Twice.
- 7:31Yeah, just blink with one eye at a time.
- 7:33You're golden. OK, so I got a couple of fun
- 7:38facts. Not like a ton, which I think
- 7:40tends to happen with newer movies, especially ones that
- 7:42like don't have like a release with a bunch of special features
- 7:46on it yet. So we'll we'll go over some of
- 7:50what we can. Now.
- 7:51I told you about this on last night, the working title that it
- 7:54had that they had to change. I like blink twice as the name
- 8:00for an initial viewing of it. OK.
- 8:04But I like this title as like every rewatch thinking of it as
- 8:10OK pussy island. Pussy Island, Yeah.
- 8:15Is that like what they call it amongst themselves?
- 8:17That's what Zoe Kravitz actually really wanted it to be called.
- 8:21Interestingly enough, after researching it, women were
- 8:23offended by the word and women seeing the title.
- 8:25We're saying I don't want to see that movie, which is part of the
- 8:28reason I wanted to try and use the word, which is trying to
- 8:30reclaim the word and not making it something that we're so
- 8:32uncomfortable using. But we're not there yet.
- 8:34And I think that's something I have responsibility as a
- 8:37filmmaker to listen to. OK.
- 8:39So. But she did end up changing it,
- 8:41not just because of that, but a lot of it had to do with the MPA
- 8:44and, you know, being able to advertise it and have posters of
- 8:48it up in the theater and whatnot.
- 8:49So that's fair. Yeah.
- 8:52Let's see. It was shot in Yucatan, in
- 8:55Quintana Roo, Mexico. They.
- 9:00I found a little bit of information from an interview
- 9:03with Zoe Kravitz in Out magazine.
- 9:07Big thing that I thought was kind of interesting was the
- 9:09casting was very deliberate because it was meant to like
- 9:12pull in these actors that people are generally very comfortable
- 9:15with and have like a sense of trust with them in the movie.
- 9:18So that way it kind of subverts your expectations and you're
- 9:21like feeling safe and comfortable with them and having
- 9:24a good time. And then you know it all.
- 9:26Like, you know, we get that heel turn, right?
- 9:28Yeah, I could see that. And then also the casting of
- 9:31Geena Davis was kind of very similar to Zoe.
- 9:35And the interviewer were talking about kind of like, you see
- 9:38Geena Davis and you're like, great, she's going to be here,
- 9:40she's going to save the day, She's going to make it great.
- 9:42But then she's not. And she, Zoe Kravitz said that
- 9:45it was kind of like a nod to like that generation and saying
- 9:49like, this is just how it is. You have to deal with it.
- 9:51Yeah, I always took that as like the whole like women against
- 9:54women type thing. Yeah.
- 9:57I think it was just kind of, I think it's also just kind of an
- 10:01acceptance of like, well, what are we gonna do about it?
- 10:06Yeah. You know, like, this is this is
- 10:07what we're dealing with. Better to just like, put on a
- 10:10brave face and do your best to forget about it.
- 10:13Yeah, OK. So not, I'm not moralizing or
- 10:17demoralizing that one way or the other.
- 10:20I'm just, you know, it is a reaction that you see in some
- 10:24people and some groups of people.
- 10:28I also have a quote about the ending.
- 10:32This was kind of funny because we had found a drinking game for
- 10:35this. And the last rule was Slater
- 10:37gets a taste of his own medicine question mark.
- 10:41And I thought this was really, it kind of ties into this, but I
- 10:44think also kind of ties into the larger, like overarching themes
- 10:47of the movie. It's very complicated because in
- 10:50order for someone to be on top, someone has to be on the bottom.
- 10:53It's oppressive by nature. And people often say they talk
- 10:56about empowerment when they talk about women and they talk about
- 10:59power when they talk about men. And I really wanted to focus on
- 11:02power and what it does and what it looks like and what are we
- 11:05willing to do to get it and what happens when we do get it.
- 11:09It was intentional to leave that ambiguous at the end.
- 11:11Some people watch the end of the film and they say this is a
- 11:14happy ending, and some people don't feel that way.
- 11:17And while I'm happy for the character that she's getting
- 11:19hers, the question is at what cost?
- 11:21And is she strong enough to not be eaten up by the monster which
- 11:24is power? Yeah, I was kind of thinking
- 11:27about that too, after looking at the ending because, I mean, it's
- 11:30ambiguous and it does kind of appear that she may have been,
- 11:36you know, like there there's like you could, it's up for
- 11:39interpretation. Like you can take away the
- 11:42interpretation that like she is kind of basically becoming what
- 11:46she was against, but we don't really know.
- 11:48She could also just be somebody that's just getting revenge on
- 11:51that one particular person and being like a benevolent leader
- 11:54in all other aspects. It's hard to tell.
- 11:57Yeah. And I think the ending for me
- 11:59especially, it's kind of one of those that like, you know, cuz
- 12:03you could look at it and be like, why are you doing the same
- 12:06thing that he did to you? But I think there's also an
- 12:08element in movies and storytelling where you kind of
- 12:11go beyond the reality of what a person may or may not do in the
- 12:15situation and you're kind of feeling that revenge fantasy.
- 12:19And so often women especially are told that, like, you have to
- 12:25just like, you have to be sweet. You can't rock the boat.
- 12:28You have to just accept it. And even if you get away from
- 12:31it, you can't enact revenge. You can't become the bad guy.
- 12:35You have to be the bigger person.
- 12:36You have to rise above. When they go low, we go high.
- 12:39So I think the ending of this movie is really interesting,
- 12:42that she is, you know, keeping him drugged the same way he had
- 12:45kept her drugged. Yeah.
- 12:47So, and I guess on to that, we'll go ahead and talk about
- 12:52our thoughts on the good, bad, ugly and absurd.
- 12:54OK, the first thing that jumps out to me watching this is that
- 12:58I think the cinematography is beautiful.
- 13:01Every shot is an amazing composition.
- 13:05It's super colorful. It's like it it looks amazing.
- 13:08It's a treat to watch. Yeah.
- 13:10So that's like, yeah, that's the first thing that jumps to me.
- 13:13And like, I feel like I'm realized that more watching it
- 13:17at home than I did at the theater this time around.
- 13:22And I'm not entirely sure why, but for some reason it just like
- 13:25it resonated with me more this time.
- 13:27I know that you said that they picked the people to be super
- 13:33comfortable and familiar with, but my thing that I wrote here
- 13:36is that they picked the right people to be perfectly hateable.
- 13:40Like I mean, I think it's mostly like a the characters though,
- 13:44not the actors themselves that are Hannibal in this.
- 13:47Because. Yeah, like everybody here is
- 13:49just like, they got the tech bro, they got the fucking CEO,
- 13:56you get the fucking like it's just a group of fart sniffers is
- 14:01all it is, basically. And yeah, I mean, it's super
- 14:04easy to not really like these people, and you can kind of
- 14:08gather that they're fishy people from the get go, too.
- 14:11I also think it's really interesting because you, you
- 14:13mentioned the, the, the men like the tech bro, we got the Bitcoin
- 14:18guy, we've got Simon Rex and his pretentious ass.
- 14:22And they're always like self congratulating and
- 14:24congratulating each other. But when they cheer on Camilla,
- 14:28if you're selling her app, it stops at like, oh, the app has
- 14:32been sold and then it turns into making fun of what the app is.
- 14:36So I think that's kind of an interesting contrast that even
- 14:38though she was like successful in her own right, like.
- 14:41I couldn't tell what was happening there.
- 14:43It seemed like Hailey, Joel Osmond's character, was just
- 14:45bitter. Yeah, he like, he ruined the
- 14:47vibe. Like, I don't know how everybody
- 14:49else is going to react to that situation.
- 14:51But, yeah, I mean, and that's probably the intention of that
- 14:54scene. They did a really good job
- 14:57telling the story that they needed to tell.
- 15:00It's a, it's a very difficult story to get out there in this
- 15:03moment right here. I mean, especially with it being
- 15:05like a like a set comprised of women.
- 15:09Like you get the director and the writer and the stars of the
- 15:12movie are women. Like it's a very important story
- 15:16that people need to hear right now.
- 15:19It's very like, it's, it's brave.
- 15:21And I'm sorry if that comes across as condescending, but I'm
- 15:24just trying to say like, you know, it says a lot of things, a
- 15:27lot of ugly truths that people don't really want to confront
- 15:31and they don't feel comfortable being confronted with so.
- 15:36It's exhausting to have to tell these stories over and over and
- 15:39over again and just have it dismissed as projection or
- 15:44overreaction or imagination and. I can't I.
- 15:48Don't think every movie that tells this kind of story is
- 15:51necessarily well done, but I do like I fucking hated Don't Worry
- 15:54Darling. Yeah, that was a movie that got
- 15:58it. Got caught up in a whole other
- 16:01weird thing of like people driving cars in the desert going
- 16:04to their big boy jobs. It didn't tell the story that I
- 16:07think she thought she was telling, you know what I mean?
- 16:10Like, without getting too in the weeds with it.
- 16:13Like, Florence Pugh's character didn't start acting out until
- 16:16she was given permission to. You know what?
- 16:18I mean and that's this is different.
- 16:21That and that movie had a lot of good moments too, and they had a
- 16:24lot of really good things to say.
- 16:25And I can never speak from the perspective of somebody that has
- 16:31to experience what these characters go through.
- 16:34But as somebody that loves somebody that has to deal with
- 16:39this, It's it's Italia. She she has probably the
- 16:44roughest ghost. She's a woman and a Pitbull.
- 16:46So it's, it's not, it's not been an easy time for her, but it's,
- 16:52it's tough and people need to know how it is out there for
- 16:56women. So I I really commend them for
- 16:58doing that. OK.
- 17:01Anything else? No, that's it.
- 17:02OK, well, I think it tells, I mean, it takes this fantastical
- 17:07setting and this fantastical kind of like set of
- 17:10circumstances and uses it to tell a very common story, which
- 17:14I think is good storytelling. You know, it's something that
- 17:17we're all familiar with, but it's told in a different, it's
- 17:20given to us in a different kind of packaging that we generally
- 17:23experience in our day-to-day lives.
- 17:25So I think that makes it kind of an interesting way to digest it.
- 17:29I think the acting is all just really superb.
- 17:32Yeah, the acting is pretty good. Yeah, I, like, I since we
- 17:35watched it back in August, I haven't been able to get
- 17:37Channing Tatum out of my head doing his I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 17:40And then he just like, he's like going from red and sweating and
- 17:44crying and spitting and then all of a sudden he's just back to
- 17:46normal like that. He's like, so we go, we're cool.
- 17:50It's I think it's really impressive.
- 17:52And one of the things that she said in the interviews, it's
- 17:57kind of great that Deadpool and Wolverine comes out around the
- 18:00same time and he's a Gambit in it.
- 18:04Yeah. So, like, people can go from,
- 18:06like, watching this and then they can go see him be Gambit
- 18:09and they can laugh at him being batted accents.
- 18:11Yeah. And I, I think it's really
- 18:14great. And I really honestly, I think
- 18:16of Channing Tatum, like excelling in comedic roles.
- 18:21So to see him do this was really, I think, really
- 18:23interesting. I love the friendship between
- 18:26Frieda and Jess. They've got really weird inside
- 18:29jokes and they don't try and explain it to the audience, and
- 18:32it just feels a little bit more real that way.
- 18:35Yeah. And I think that's really great,
- 18:37the various running bits we have, like them making fun of
- 18:40Simon Rex for always calling Sarah babe.
- 18:45I think that's funny. Jess always losing her lighter,
- 18:47not losing it, but like other people taking and not giving it
- 18:50back. Yeah, I just, I think this movie
- 18:52has like, a lot of like things that just feel very real and
- 18:55natural with it. And I think it's just I I think
- 18:58it's really good. OK, OK, let's talk about the
- 19:02bad. Because no movie is perfect,
- 19:06even the perfect ones. One thing that I would say about
- 19:11this movie is I think just for me personally, I think some of
- 19:14the humor is a bit off. It doesn't connect with me.
- 19:17OK. I mean it has some good moments.
- 19:19I like the moment with her at the pool doing the fat blunts
- 19:24thing. That's funny.
- 19:28One liners, normally I like them.
- 19:30They had some usage of them towards the end that I it stood
- 19:35out to me. But you know, that's just like a
- 19:38little, it's a personal thing. What I truly I do not remember 1
- 19:45liners near the end, can you? The one that really struck with
- 19:50me was whenever I can't remember the character's name, Sarah.
- 19:55Sarah she stabs and I'll never know his name but George from
- 19:58Scary Movie 3 she stabs him. I think his name is Cody.
- 20:02OK, Cody. Yeah, the fart sniffing chef.
- 20:05Yeah, he. Oh no, what do you think he
- 20:08cooks with? I, you know, like, I don't know,
- 20:11probably poop juice. Yeah, well, he's a fart sniffer,
- 20:15so the the thing. Farts and poop are.
- 20:20Different and all from the same place.
- 20:22You're just smelling as I think somebody from wrong turn to once
- 20:27said ghost. Shits shit ghosts.
- 20:30Oh no. Yeah, it's frankly, I think it's
- 20:32who said that. She, the whole movie, he's like
- 20:38opening bottles of wine. He's saying, oh, this will open
- 20:40nicely, you know that right there.
- 20:42And then she takes the wine Corkscrew towards the end of the
- 20:45movie and stabs him in the jugular and pulls it out.
- 20:48And then when he like, falls, she says, oh, that'll open
- 20:51nicely. I don't know, I like her having
- 20:54like this because, like we see that in so many other movies
- 20:57where like a, you know, a dude gets to have the the cheesy.
- 21:02Line no. And I totally understand that
- 21:05and that's a valid point. But just for me, that moment
- 21:10right there, it was a very heavy moment.
- 21:13Like, I was very caught up in the moment of them realizing all
- 21:17the horrible shit that happened to them.
- 21:19And that's an understatement. But like, and then taking the
- 21:23moment to have a quip there, that's the only thing that I
- 21:27have against that I don't have against like, you know, like, I
- 21:31guarantee you, like, if I continue to watch the Die Hard
- 21:34movies, there's going to be a part where I think I can't even
- 21:39remember the actor's name. Bruce Willis.
- 21:41Bruce Willis. Yeah, if you've.
- 21:43Got Bruce Willis. I did.
- 21:45Yeah. We.
- 21:45Just watched Pulp Fiction. I know like, I mean, and like
- 21:50not all one liners are good, but I think that they're, you know,
- 21:53like that those are like cheesy action movies where it's kind of
- 21:57expected and same with like Batman and Robin where it's a
- 22:00very campy movie. 1 liners are welcome there.
- 22:03I I mean, it can be done. It's just it's a gut feeling
- 22:08thing for me and that's it. I wonder, and this is not me
- 22:14attacking you as a man, and I want that to be very clear, I
- 22:19wonder if it's maybe because this is a kind of horror that
- 22:25you don't constantly have on your mind it.
- 22:29Could be. You know what I mean?
- 22:31I think there's almost like a dark humor about it for me here
- 22:35at the end. Yeah, yeah, it, it could be.
- 22:39It could be, I don't know. Because I mean, to be honest, I
- 22:42don't really watch a lot of movies like this.
- 22:43My comfort zone is the can't be ridiculous bad movies.
- 22:47So I don't watch a lot of like totally serious movies because I
- 22:51I generally try to like steer queer of them.
- 22:53What? Why on earth would you want to
- 22:56feel something different when you're watching movies?
- 22:59Because it's not like you have to escape the horrors of our
- 23:01real life. I I feel like.
- 23:04Nothing bad is happening right now, Travis.
- 23:06I feel like Danny McBride in Pineapple Express where they're
- 23:09like, oh, you got like herpes on your lips.
- 23:11And he's like, I know I'm a, I'm a disgusting person.
- 23:16Get a bouncy ball Just trying to get a motherfucking scholarship.
- 23:21I feel like Danny McBride because I for one would like to
- 23:24know how these wonderful motion pictures are made.
- 23:27You know, honestly, if they wanted to cast people that I
- 23:29felt comfortable with in this, they would have cast Danny
- 23:31McBride as one of the dude Bros in this year.
- 23:35But yeah, I mean, that's really about it.
- 23:37Like, there's not a lot of bad things to say about the movie
- 23:41itself because it's like, it's really well put together.
- 23:44And it has like, oh, I mean, it's a very deep movie and it
- 23:49resonates with a lot of people. But that's just.
- 23:52That doesn't mean that you can't have like you can't find flaws
- 23:55with it. Yeah, because we're not
- 23:57necessarily like saying the bad is in the messaging.
- 24:01And I think because we're coming out this from different
- 24:04perspectives, we can have a different take on the tone
- 24:09maybe. Yeah.
- 24:11Does that make sense? Yeah, that makes sense.
- 24:14I think for me this is one of those movies that like he does
- 24:19one of those things that we have commented on multiple times
- 24:22where technically yes, we get all of the characters names, but
- 24:28like not in a way that makes it easy to keep track of.
- 24:31Yeah, it took. Way too long for me to figure
- 24:35out and hold on to the names. And even then, like every time I
- 24:37would write down, I just gave up and started I, I gave up
- 24:41actually basically from the beginning.
- 24:42And he was Simon Rex the whole time.
- 24:43And like a couple of times I put Cody because I think it was
- 24:46Cody. I'm pretty sure it was Cody.
- 24:48The entire time he was just George.
- 24:50From yeah, Simon Rex as Cody. There we go.
- 24:53Yeah. He's George.
- 24:55He has a dream to have a dream. And see, it's funny, when I was
- 24:59reading that interview and she was saying, like, you know, it's
- 25:01good for people to go from like Blink Twice into Deadpool and
- 25:04Wolverine 'cause they get, you know, that crossover of Channing
- 25:07Tatum. But it's totally so different.
- 25:09And we did a double feature last night of Blink Twice and then
- 25:12Scary Movie 3. Yeah, except I had a very
- 25:16interesting experience with that this time because when we first
- 25:19watched this movie, I didn't realize it was him until we got
- 25:21in the car and you're like, Oh my God, that was George.
- 25:24And then now I watched it this entire time being like, Oh my
- 25:27God, that's George. It really drastically changed my
- 25:33experience with that character. And actually, to talk about
- 25:38Channing Tatum, again, I know that you said that you primarily
- 25:40see him as a comedic actor, but I think the thing that surprises
- 25:43me most about him is that he has comedic timing, which he he gets
- 25:49a few moments to shine what they hear.
- 25:51But like, I think he right here demonstrates to all those other
- 25:54people like you that he is actually like a legitimate actor
- 25:58and not a pretty boy. Yeah, yeah.
- 26:01OK, so ugly. Yes.
- 26:04I think that's probably one of the easiest questions to answer
- 26:07in this movie, but it's 100% the abuse that occurs in this movie.
- 26:15This right here. I mean, when you think about it,
- 26:17it's basically a rape revenge movie, right?
- 26:21Yes, and I think. I know that you it's, well,
- 26:28usually you you're not really fond of those types of movies
- 26:32unless they're done a certain way.
- 26:34Yes, and I think generally when I think of the more successful
- 26:38rape revenge movies, they're mostly done by women.
- 26:40Yeah. Well, yeah, I mean, it probably
- 26:43makes sense for them to tell that story.
- 26:45And I think a big part of it is because it doesn't, I think
- 26:49generally women directors are aware that you don't have to
- 26:52linger on the rape aspects because we're like, yeah, get
- 26:55it. It's horrifying, you know what I
- 26:58mean? We don't need to see it played
- 26:59out like. That's the thing, that's the
- 27:01thing that I think I always go back to with you about that,
- 27:04because you always say like it's, you know, like just
- 27:08telling that it occurred is enough.
- 27:10Witnessing it is a whole other thing.
- 27:13This movie walks a very it's like a tightrope of it where
- 27:17like it does take you to some very, very unpleasant moments
- 27:22there through flashes of them getting their memory, but we
- 27:26never linger on it long enough. The most we linger on, it is
- 27:29like, I can't remember who's having their like venom moment,
- 27:36but like we see them like I'll be in chase and everything.
- 27:40I can't. I don't know if that was Frida
- 27:42or Sarah. I can't remember 'cause
- 27:43everybody still having. That like we cut from Frida to
- 27:46Sarah and then we have flashbacks in between.
- 27:48They're and they're like consistently like unlocking them
- 27:51throughout too, yeah, like even up until the end so and.
- 27:55I think this movie also has a lot to say about like, trauma
- 27:58and how, like, the brain sometimes will protect itself by
- 28:01blocking stuff out. So I think that's a very
- 28:04interesting device to do this with where you get like those
- 28:07flashes and you're like, holy fuck, what did I just unlock in
- 28:10myself? So I think this is telling more
- 28:12than just like that story of abuse of power and rape and
- 28:16everything, but it's also talking about like, trauma and
- 28:18how it's a weird thing. I think that actually UPS the
- 28:22horror in this, Like seeing it outright happened and then
- 28:27having to remember it is very terrifying.
- 28:28But like having like a memory like that unlocked and like you
- 28:32have like this sudden realization that that happened
- 28:36to you. Like those moments where like
- 28:38Camilla, whenever she has her realization, like the bloody
- 28:41nose drip and then like you can just see her face of like shock,
- 28:45she goes through like all the stages right there.
- 28:47She gets like shock, anger, grief and then more murderous
- 28:51anger. Yeah, yeah.
- 28:53Which that's like the, that's the other 5 stages 4.
- 28:57I don't know. How?
- 28:57Yeah. I don't think you said 5.
- 29:00Yeah, four or five, yeah. The some the some stages.
- 29:04Numbers aren't numbers are a construct, right?
- 29:08I think they're one of the few things in life that aren't a
- 29:09construct. Well, on this show they are.
- 29:14But either way, yeah, it's fucking terrifying, it's ugly,
- 29:16and I can't think of anything else.
- 29:19OK. I'm trying to think of something
- 29:21else ugly the just like not go with the obvious.
- 29:26But I mean this is one where I feel like the obvious is
- 29:29probably, you know, it's the whole reason.
- 29:32What about you? I'm just I'm so fucking sick of
- 29:38dudes with power not giving a shit about anyone else besides
- 29:41their own whims and the fact that they get away with it and
- 29:44the fact that so many people excuse it.
- 29:47Other dudes. You know, he's got that whole
- 29:49thing where he says to Levin Hawks character, he was like,
- 29:52you did nothing. He's like you saw all of it
- 29:54happen and you didn't do a damn thing it.
- 29:57We've got Geena Davis character who's just like, it's better to
- 30:03just accept that this is what it is and accept the gift of
- 30:07forgetting, you know, like we we see so much like Abathi like
- 30:13that right now. I'm just, I'm fucking exhausted
- 30:16emotionally, mentally, and it's exhausting and it's very ugly.
- 30:22Truth in this movie. Yeah, I think like that type of
- 30:26apathy is like a whole other that becomes like almost like
- 30:30evil apathy right there. I can understand some people
- 30:33being apathetic after like being constantly just put down over
- 30:37and over again. Like why should I care?
- 30:38Well, and. I think because like Geena Davis
- 30:41character, I think is an interesting case because I think
- 30:45it's almost, it's not Stockholm syndrome, but it's like a case
- 30:48of like I'm in the system, I'm stuck in it.
- 30:52I need to make the best of it that I can.
- 30:55Like, I don't see a possible way out.
- 30:57I don't necessarily want to immediately demonize her,
- 31:01although I did like that moment at the end where, you know, she
- 31:04tries to attack Frida because she's pissed about the like and
- 31:08they didn't even want to give her the venom shots.
- 31:11You know, she just came out. She's like I stood shots.
- 31:13Yeah, and then she's like, told me she's like, I tried.
- 31:15Yeah, she's like she said. I tried bitch.
- 31:20So yeah, I just, I think there's a lot of different portrayals of
- 31:25like the types of reactions we see to these things in society.
- 31:29And like we even see like the less powerful people that are
- 31:31kind of on the fringes, like in the the Doctor, where he's like
- 31:35very intrigued by it and he wants more of it.
- 31:37And he's not rich and powerful like the clientele that he
- 31:41serves. And so he's just like getting
- 31:43little glimpses and glances, but he's not directly in it.
- 31:47I like that. And where she's like, Oh no, I
- 31:49remember you. And then he's like, oh fuck.
- 31:53Yeah, you want some of this vape?
- 31:56Yeah, OK. Absurd.
- 32:01Absurd. This movie has probably one of
- 32:04the 1st and I'm willing to probably guess only instances
- 32:09I'll ever see of snake harvesting.
- 32:12Snakes are being harvested like a crop in this movie, and you
- 32:16don't get it until, like, for like a minute.
- 32:18I'm like, oh, that's the thing that makes them forget.
- 32:21But then I'm like, oh, that's the thing that makes them
- 32:23remember. Yeah, I forgot about it, but it
- 32:26was just interesting. Just like when he's giving her a
- 32:29tour of the island when they first get there and it's like,
- 32:31yeah, that's when they live here and they they work at the resort
- 32:36or whatever you want to call it. And they're just smiling and
- 32:39just like picking up snakes around and just like harvesting
- 32:43them and getting their blood and venom and shit like that.
- 32:45It's very weird. Do they spray the workers so
- 32:49they don't remember? Because that one woman, we don't
- 32:52ever get a name for her. But like.
- 32:55No, I think. She's just swigging that shit
- 32:58and she was fully ready to give it to Frida, you know what I
- 33:00mean? Like she, I think.
- 33:04I wonder if they discovered on their own how to break the spell
- 33:09and they have become aware but the other people aren't like
- 33:14they don't know that because none of them have really cared
- 33:17to talk to them. They just see them as, like, not
- 33:23even worth their time. Yeah, so they're like these
- 33:27people have like, they fully realize the shit that's going on
- 33:30there and like they know about it, but the people just don't
- 33:33even care about it because they just don't even like, see them
- 33:36as people. Yeah.
- 33:38And then they basically treat them like that in this movie.
- 33:40I don't even think that they ever.
- 33:41The only people to ever directly interact with them is Frida, I
- 33:45think. Yeah, so.
- 33:48And like, I feel like they were trying to help because she kept
- 33:51saying Red Rabbit but she there was a language barrier there and
- 33:55she couldn't help. Yeah, like she didn't know fully
- 33:57what she meant by red rabbit until she saw the Polaroids with
- 34:00the red rabbits on her nails. Yeah, the only other episode I
- 34:04had was at the beginning of the movie when Jess is just fully
- 34:08comfortable walking in on feet of pooping to have a
- 34:11conversation. But Frito brought incense into
- 34:14the bathroom with her. Jessie, I am married to you, but
- 34:16I would never do that. Like I'm about as close as I can
- 34:21get to somebody as being with you and I will never be that
- 34:24close to just walk in on you in mid poop.
- 34:28I I wouldn't want you to do that.
- 34:30Yeah, and not yet. These two friends, they're
- 34:33comfortable pooping in front of each other.
- 34:36That's admirable, almost. That's how Talia feels about us.
- 34:39That is, you guys watch me poop all the time.
- 34:41You pick up my poop, you go a step further.
- 34:45I never asked you to do that part.
- 34:48Yeah, she's like, it's kind of weird that you do that.
- 34:50Yeah, like I was OK with the watching part.
- 34:52It was a little bit weird at first, but then you started
- 34:53picking it up. She's like, and I just talked to
- 34:56Scout and Zoe and apparently you do that for them too.
- 34:59Yeah, but you like use a scooper, you have like a whole
- 35:03sand beach where they like. You you said use a scooper as
- 35:07though you don't use a scooper for.
- 35:10Some people don't. When you're taking them on a
- 35:12walk, you take the little bag and you're like, you have to
- 35:13actually make contact with your hands.
- 35:15Yeah, but for our yard, like we do have a special scooper.
- 35:20Yeah, yeah, that's true. I.
- 35:22Don't want people to think Travis is just walking around
- 35:24dog shit in his hands. No, no, that's a whole new breed
- 35:29of fart sniffers and just dog shit sniffers.
- 35:33OK, what are your absurds? It's an absurd, but it's a
- 35:39relatable absurd, which is Freda like trying so hard to like
- 35:44punny portmanteau, her nail art and the nail meals.
- 35:50I like that. I like it, but it's such a
- 35:52mouthful and it doesn't flow well.
- 35:54But I also love it. I mean, also like, dude, she
- 35:59should be a celebrity artist because the fact that she can
- 36:03put her hands through as much as they go through in this movie,
- 36:06those nails, perfect. Not a chip, not a break, not a
- 36:10crack. Like she doesn't even need to
- 36:13fill in the set yet, you know what I mean?
- 36:15That's the thing, like you, you break your nails all the time.
- 36:18You broke them yesterday walking downstairs.
- 36:20It was walking up the stairs and I have bad depth perception.
- 36:23I didn't realize where my hand was.
- 36:25Yeah, you would never notice any of the nail damage.
- 36:28Just being I got out the ordinary for you.
- 36:30Like. Well, I guess I fucked up my
- 36:31nail like walking down the hall. I don't know.
- 36:35Surely I got dirt in the process too.
- 36:37I don't know. It tracks.
- 36:40It doesn't track. I'm very obsessive about Cuba.
- 36:42If I have, I have long nails and I recognize that it's heart like
- 36:47a breeding ground for bacteria. I'm very obsessive about
- 36:49cleaning them. That's fair.
- 36:51Yeah, you're actually really on top of your nail game.
- 36:55I'm trying to think if there's another absurd I can't really
- 37:01think of. I can't really think of another.
- 37:04OK, so that's fine. OK, there's not that much absurd
- 37:07about this movie. Well, other than the whole
- 37:11Hailey Joel Osman being there. What if it was Hailey Joel Osman
- 37:15sitting there, but as an adult? I'll I love the moments whenever
- 37:20they're doing drugs and he takes his little heart sunglasses and
- 37:23flips them upside down. I like that too.
- 37:25As somebody who wears a lot of heart sunglasses, I don't know,
- 37:28maybe this summer when I'm feeling a little silly.
- 37:34He's just randomly popping up and shit these days.
- 37:37I'm I'm for. It yeah.
- 37:39Oh God. Also that moment where Heather's
- 37:41like, I have bangs. Yeah, like who caught me at
- 37:46bangs? Yeah.
- 37:50OK, rating. OK, I reckon I'm right around
- 37:56the seven area for this, Yeah. OK, give me the 9:00 which gives
- 38:02us an average of eight. OK, that's pretty good.
- 38:05That's higher than IMDb. We did it again, yes.
- 38:08Suck it, IMDb. OK, OK.
- 38:12Are we? Ready.
- 38:12Yeah, we start off with a lizard and then Hashtag Nails by Freda.
- 38:19She's scrolling through Instagram, and she gets caught
- 38:21up watching some reels of Slater King.
- 38:23He's apologizing for his abuse of power.
- 38:25And to show that he's being very genuine about it, he's taking
- 38:28some time. He's gonna step back as CFO of
- 38:30King Tech. And he actually bought an
- 38:33island. So that's how you know he's like
- 38:35grounded, right? Yeah, you know, it would be
- 38:39nice. If you have a problem, you can
- 38:41just go escape to your fucking island.
- 38:43Yeah, and he's. No, it's OK.
- 38:45Oh, they grow their own food. And by the day, he means that.
- 38:50Like people like. Be hired to work there that he
- 38:53doesn't even care to learn their names.
- 38:56Jess pops in and she's like by the way, do you have the money
- 38:59for the Super? He's stopping by and she's like
- 39:00about that. I've got a surprise for you.
- 39:05So we cut to Frida. She's late to work.
- 39:08She missed the bus, and her boss is an asshole.
- 39:12He's like, I need you to be invisible.
- 39:14And I think this is also some of the, like, the, like, class
- 39:17stories that they're telling in this movie too 'cause, you know,
- 39:20we've talked about, you know, basically the workers on the
- 39:22island are invisible to most of our main group.
- 39:25Cool. Talia, thank you.
- 39:27Yeah, it's fine. You guys.
- 39:29You've, I've been on this podcast long enough.
- 39:31Talia's like 1/3. She kind of comes in when she
- 39:34wants to. Yeah.
- 39:35She has very strong feelings about class wars and being told
- 39:39to look invisible because that's scary to her.
- 39:42Talia could never. Yeah, that's what this guy does.
- 39:45He's like, all right, just smile.
- 39:48Smile real big. Be invisible, though.
- 39:50Like give me the best invisible smile you've ever had.
- 39:55Smile. But I don't want to see it.
- 39:58And he's like, and don't be chatty.
- 39:59And she's like, well, he complimented my nails.
- 40:01And he's like, this is to steal from Vanessa Hudgens.
- 40:08Scotty says don't, Scotty, don't, Scotty, don't.
- 40:14Yeah. So she goes out and she's
- 40:15serving, and she is. So obsessed with Slater King,
- 40:19like she's staring at the back of his head and spills champagne
- 40:21all over this woman. That's the one thing I don't
- 40:23quite understand about this movie, is that she was aware of
- 40:26his issues at the beginning when she scrolled through his reel of
- 40:30him apologizing. Do you think that she like
- 40:33bought the apology? Or is she just like she wants
- 40:36that life more than anything and she's willing to put that aside?
- 40:40Just said get a glimpse at it. I think it's a combination of
- 40:43the two. OK.
- 40:46And I think it's also a little bit of her not necessarily
- 40:50recognizing her own faults because, you know, she she calls
- 40:54Jess out for leaving late at night to go hook up with her ex.
- 40:58And she's like, stop giving away your fucking power.
- 41:01She was so like, she was pretty rude about that.
- 41:04She like, give me apologies. She's like, I'm sorry.
- 41:07Listen, sometimes you got a best friend and you got to tell them
- 41:11when they're being a fucking idiot.
- 41:13Yeah, that's true. But she is you.
- 41:14Have to do that sometimes. Yeah, I never, I didn't make the
- 41:17connection of her being kind of hypocritical with that though.
- 41:20That is interesting. So she's like, Are you ready for
- 41:23your surprise? And, and, and I mean, what you
- 41:26have to understand about them is they're like struggling artists,
- 41:29right? Because Frida's got her nail
- 41:30thing. Jess, I assume, is an actress
- 41:33because she says that she missed her audition and the Super
- 41:35didn't even show. She was like, so we're broke and
- 41:38we have black mold. Yeah, I I was confused.
- 41:41Didn't she say something about having kids too?
- 41:43Or was she just joking? I don't remember anything about
- 41:46kids. She's something about the black
- 41:49mold. She's like, so the kids and I
- 41:50are going to have to do something, something.
- 41:52I may have misheard her. Maybe she was just being playful
- 41:56where she just refers to her like Frida as the kids.
- 42:00I got to go home to the kids. I do not remember that.
- 42:04I I could have like misheard. It's very possible I did.
- 42:08So anyway, her her surprise is that she got the matching
- 42:11dresses and they're going to go sneak into the gala and they're
- 42:17sneaking is not very sneaky because Freda breaks a shoe,
- 42:21falls and trips the server who drops a tray of drinks and
- 42:25glasses. And then Slater comes over and
- 42:29he's like, I've always wanted to do this.
- 42:31And he breaks the other heel. He's like, now they're even pro
- 42:35tip. That won't work.
- 42:37That's not how high heels are not built that way.
- 42:41It won't work. You're better off to just kick
- 42:43them off and go barefoot. I feel like it's rude to be like
- 42:46you destroyed that one here, I'll break your other one too.
- 42:48Like dude that one was still fine.
- 42:50You don't have to break it. You can just buy one other shoe
- 42:53maybe, I don't know. Can you do?
- 42:55That no, although there are some companies that are trying to do
- 43:02single shoe sales for people that only have need for a single
- 43:05shoe. No.
- 43:06Well, I'm sure there's also hill repair services you can take.
- 43:10It Cobblers and actually I read an article in cobblering is
- 43:15going down as a business because our society tends to promote
- 43:19more like fast fashion type things.
- 43:20So a lot of people instead of going to get shoes repaired will
- 43:23just be like oh it's not even worth it.
- 43:25I'll just buy a new pair. Oh, really?
- 43:27Yeah. Wow.
- 43:27I thought Cobblers just sort of the people that make shoes.
- 43:30Well they fix them too. It's like a Carpenter probably
- 43:33also does like home repairs, doesn't just build houses.
- 43:36Business is really good in the new shoe department.
- 43:38They're really bad in the new shoe department.
- 43:42OK, so yeah, she she did that. She did all the wrong things,
- 43:48but she just stumbled into Slater's vision and he's like,
- 43:52hey. She failed upwards, which is
- 43:55probably what a lot of Slater's friends did to get to where they
- 43:58are in this in this life. He he introduces Freda to his
- 44:05therapist, which like, I kind of love that move.
- 44:09Yeah. I, I love the like being very
- 44:12open about therapy. And even though clearly this is
- 44:14not working for him, I, I just, I'm a person that I tend to be
- 44:19very open about therapy in a way that it makes other people
- 44:22uncomfortable. That's weird to me.
- 44:23Like I feel like you like having a casual conversation.
- 44:26Like yes, talk to my therapist. That doesn't ring any bells to
- 44:29me. She's like, oh good for you.
- 44:31Yeah, I, I think everybody needs to experience therapy at least
- 44:35once in their life. It's really good for you.
- 44:38But anyway, she like makes a joke.
- 44:39She's like, I blink twice if I'm in danger and he does like a
- 44:42blink twice and then. I didn't catch that.
- 44:48I'd see I had always been under the impression that that's why I
- 44:52was called that. Like blink twice if you're in
- 44:54danger. I just never.
- 44:55Maybe I subconsciously knew. I just didn't want the real me
- 44:59to know. Your your interview.
- 45:02Blink twice. Blinked.
- 45:04Blink, blink, blink. Blinked.
- 45:08I blinked. OK.
- 45:10So he takes her around, introduces her to everybody.
- 45:14They drink, they dance, they laugh, They're having a great
- 45:16time. And then Stacy comes and says,
- 45:18all right, time for everybody to go.
- 45:20And so they all walk away. And Justin Frieda are basking in
- 45:24the night. Just asked Frieda if she got
- 45:26Slater's number, and she said no.
- 45:28Are you kidding me? Of course not.
- 45:29And Jess is like, why are you guys reviving driving?
- 45:31And then all of a sudden Slater comes running up and you think
- 45:33that like, give a number maybe, huh?
- 45:36Can I get your number? Something like that?
- 45:37And instead he says, do you want to get on my private jet and go
- 45:39to my private island? It's totally cool and not at all
- 45:41SUS. Yeah.
- 45:44And she says sure. So they do.
- 45:48They get there, and Stacy takes their phones.
- 45:52It's part of the rules. And Jess is like, kind of
- 45:54uncomfortable with it. And so there's like, you don't
- 45:56have to, but like. Yeah.
- 45:59It's basically, yeah. It's implied.
- 46:01Yeah, like it would be really weird if you didn't.
- 46:04Yeah. So she she ends up giving it.
- 46:08Slater shows Freda around her room.
- 46:10And he's like, I know you didn't really have time to pack, but
- 46:12there's like, clothes and like, stuffed in the bathroom.
- 46:15Probably one of my favorite things in the movie is the title
- 46:18card reveal of this. And it's whenever, like right
- 46:21before that Christian Swater, he's like the whole movie is
- 46:24running around with a Polaroid camera and he's just snapping
- 46:27pictures of everybody. He gets like a group shot of
- 46:29them all. And then like, right as like the
- 46:31camera shutter, like, just like, like you just get like a flash
- 46:35of don't blink or not blink twice.
- 46:37I did it again. Yeah.
- 46:40I thought that that was really cool.
- 46:42I like that a lot. OK, So yeah, she's in the room
- 46:45and she's there checking out the place.
- 46:48She opens up the drawer and then she sees there's like this one
- 46:52thing of lipstick there, and she opens it up and it seems to be
- 46:55used and like it's old, been there for a long time.
- 46:59Is abused and I I don't get it because even from like a
- 47:04flashback perspective, it's not like she was abusing her lip
- 47:07gloss Then this doe foot shouldn't be split up the way it
- 47:11is. Shouldn't have hair wrapped
- 47:12around it. That's not how this works.
- 47:14I've got lip glosses and lipsticks that yeah, I know I
- 47:18shouldn't still have them a year later, but whatever.
- 47:19I I am not Slater King. I don't have money to just go
- 47:23buy a new lipstick. That makes you wonder though,
- 47:25how long has he been doing this for?
- 47:27Well, because we know this was at least last year, like we know
- 47:30it was last year that she got the like head injury and the
- 47:33lipstick. But but who's to say that that's
- 47:35the first time? I know I'm just saying cuz we
- 47:38saw the flashback of her with the lipstick right before she
- 47:40gets the head injury. Oh, we did.
- 47:42Yeah. I'm stupid.
- 47:43Forgive me. I miss.
- 47:45I miss very obvious things. I don't miss that blink twice
- 47:48though. I was, well I was just paying
- 47:50attention to the lipstick thing this year cuz I remembered it
- 47:52being hers. This year, the one year, the
- 47:56yearly watch that we do blink twice.
- 48:00I didn't blink. So yeah, I, I, I don't
- 48:05understand what happened with this.
- 48:06Like, I it girl, I don't know what you're doing with your
- 48:10lips. Did somebody come in and fuck
- 48:12with it while it was in that room?
- 48:14This movie does do a good job of making you think that it's just
- 48:16like a place that he brings random people cuz she sees she's
- 48:20like nice try bitch whoever was trying to get with it the last
- 48:24time, My turn now. Yep.
- 48:27So she she sees the housekeeper and she goes red rabbit and she
- 48:31goes, I don't know what you mean man.
- 48:33She just keeps saying red rabbit.
- 48:34Oh yeah, I I like the Shining too.
- 48:36Yeah, don't agree with the ending of the movie, but.
- 48:41So she goes right to the pool and everybody's smoking,
- 48:45everybody's drinking. Sarah is a hot survival babe.
- 48:49I would watch that reality TV show, but I also watch reality
- 48:53TV with the understanding that it's horrible and exploitative.
- 48:55So. It sounded like a Survivor type
- 48:58show that she was a part of and like she had been like they were
- 49:03gonna do like an All Star season and then they like.
- 49:06I think it's like a combination of like Survivor, naked and
- 49:10Afraid. That's.
- 49:10What I was that was the other one I was thinking too.
- 49:12Yeah. So yeah, she's she's in free is
- 49:17like, oh, those skills will come in handy someday, right?
- 49:20Yeah, I wonder when. Meanwhile, Hailey Jo Osmond is
- 49:24looking at gingerbread in the sky.
- 49:26Gingerbread Man in the sky. Yeah, he's got, well, I you
- 49:30can't argue with that cloud. And also, do you think like, was
- 49:34that superimposed into the footage?
- 49:36Did we have somebody rotoscoping that cloud or CGI?
- 49:40Do you think like they actually just caught that cloud?
- 49:43If they if I saw a cloud like that, I'd be like, that's going
- 49:46in the movie. Yeah, Hailey, Joel Osmond was
- 49:48just pointing it out. And Zoe Kravitz.
- 49:51So it's just like a shooting. OK, Turn the turn the camera
- 49:55off. Yeah.
- 49:56OK. So Slater starts to give Frida a
- 49:59tour of the island. Yeah, she says that this is not
- 50:01what she expected from a Slater King party.
- 50:03She thought there's going to be a lot more drugs in departure.
- 50:05And he goes, well, we do drugs, we just do them intentionally.
- 50:09Fart sniffy. So far it's sniffy.
- 50:12It is, you know, I don't hate the idea of like doing drugs
- 50:15with intention That that that does sound wise.
- 50:19It's just his intentions are not exactly a good one.
- 50:22Yeah, if you're going to do it intentionally, maybe like not be
- 50:25in. Like, hey, I want to like, you
- 50:26know, like reawaken myself. See that sounded fart sniffy.
- 50:31But like, you know, I want to like, yeah, there's no, you
- 50:35can't talk about doing drugs without sniffing some of your
- 50:37own farts. Yeah, it's.
- 50:40A. Combination of DMDMDM.
- 50:44AM DMA and. Psilocybin and poop juice.
- 50:49Yeah, so it's Molly and shrooms. What a fucking convo.
- 50:56I've never done Molly, done shrooms.
- 50:58It's a good time and also a terrible time.
- 51:01Do them like when the timing is right.
- 51:03That's all I gotta say. Bad trips fucking suck.
- 51:08So then he starts talking about, like, how he's been doing
- 51:11therapy and it changed him. And she's like, well, I think
- 51:13therapy is self indulgent bullshit.
- 51:15Sounds like somebody probably benefit from therapy.
- 51:18Yeah. She's like, she's like, I don't
- 51:20need to talk about the fact that my mom tried to kill herself in
- 51:23front of me when I was 10. And I was like, I feel like you
- 51:25do. That was really fucking
- 51:26traumatic. Right there.
- 51:27I feel like you do need to talk to somebody about that Frida.
- 51:31Otherwise, you might not have gotten on a plane with a man you
- 51:33just met. Yeah, and he's like, whoa, I
- 51:36don't remember anything before 10 because I also had traumatic
- 51:38shit, but I just blocked it out. It's not there.
- 51:42Repress that memory. Yeah, he was like, he's like,
- 51:45yeah, no, my sister does it. She agrees with you.
- 51:47She thinks therapy is self indulgent.
- 51:49She's like, how can you play tennis with that man after what
- 51:51he did to us when we were kids? And I'm like, what did he do?
- 51:54That's a conversation later. That's at the end of the movie
- 51:57during this whole breakdown. But that is a valid point.
- 52:00Like, yeah, you know, like this is where he says forgetting is a
- 52:06gift. Yeah.
- 52:08Yeah, she said that she would pay to forget.
- 52:11And then Stacy comes by and she's like dropping some stuff
- 52:15and is refusing any help from Freda.
- 52:16And then she was like, I moved the chair because you said it
- 52:19looked weird. Oh, she said that there's.
- 52:22You. Yeah, no, the chair is a whole
- 52:24fucking thing with this. Aw man, it really is.
- 52:27It's like the beast. This the bee plot of this movie.
- 52:29This is such a rich people problem.
- 52:31Like I bought a chair and now I don't know what to do with it
- 52:34like. Chairs looking weird.
- 52:35Chairs looking weird. In this room.
- 52:38Like I just, I don't know, for me, chairs are just like
- 52:41functional and sometimes like we'll upgrade, right?
- 52:44But like, I don't know, I didn't buy a decorative chair.
- 52:47If you need a chair, you should already have a place where it
- 52:50goes. I think this I don't understand
- 52:52this. Problem would be more of a thing
- 52:54for us if we were able to afford a place with enough room to
- 52:57actually have freedom with where we put our chairs.
- 52:59Yeah, that's true. Like we we're gonna rearrange
- 53:02our living room sometime soon. We know that that.
- 53:05We know exactly where our chair is going.
- 53:06It's going to shift about 10 feet.
- 53:09It's got like 2 places it can go.
- 53:10It's in one of two right now. We're going to put it in the
- 53:13other one next. Yeah, and it won't look weird
- 53:15because it's a lazy boy, and lazy boys are all about comfort.
- 53:18Exactly. You look at a lazy boy and
- 53:21you're like, you know, this isn't an aesthetic thing.
- 53:23This is this is a comfort thing. Yeah, exactly.
- 53:25That chair helped me through knee recovery.
- 53:30OK, so they party. I'd say about 50% of the script
- 53:35of this movie is like partying ensues, which is what happens
- 53:38here. Yeah.
- 53:39Well, and I feel like it was probably really interesting to
- 53:42shoot all of that because they probably did a lot of those
- 53:44shoots same day or back-to-back. Yeah, I'd imagine.
- 53:48Yeah, because they're all wearing the same thing the
- 53:49entire time. Everybody has one outfit.
- 53:51Yeah, I feel like they may have done that for a movie choice,
- 53:55but I like to imagine they did it for like a consistency choice
- 53:58for filming. Like, let's just film everything
- 54:00well. Also, and I don't know if you
- 54:02noticed this later, but those dresses that they have provided
- 54:05for the women are very strategic because the sashes that tie at
- 54:08the back that you think is just like an aesthetic choice to help
- 54:11the dress give like shape and it can fit multiple body types.
- 54:15They use those ribbons to tie the women up.
- 54:18He also used it whenever she was running away and he grabbed like
- 54:21the drapey part, Yeah. Yeah, so the dresses are
- 54:24weapons. And I think that was like such a
- 54:28like subtle thing. Yeah, it's like a thing that I
- 54:31didn't even like realize until you just said that.
- 54:34But now that you say that, I'm like, damn.
- 54:36Yeah, it is. Like, yeah, it's dark.
- 54:38Yeah, we hear Cody talking about his food and it's all hoity
- 54:44Tweety and he's. Like a chef, I guess.
- 54:48I don't know. He is he's he is a chef and I
- 54:54guess like the food does look really cool.
- 54:56I get really like invested in the food on like below deck.
- 54:59I think that this is the one thing that I could relate to,
- 55:02like, and that'd be me with my coffee.
- 55:04Like like I I do my coffee in a fart sniffy way.
- 55:09Like I don't have like a normal coffee pie.
- 55:12I'm like, oh, I got to do the Kinects.
- 55:14Look at the fucking yeah bubbles of the.
- 55:15Ground here, people at work look at me like I'm crazy because I
- 55:18always struggle with trying to measure stuff for the coffee
- 55:20pot. And they're like, you have a
- 55:22pot, a cup of coffee tattooed on you.
- 55:25And I'm like, yeah, but we don't have a coffee pot at home.
- 55:27They're like, do you not drink coffee at home?
- 55:28No, we do. Yeah, we just.
- 55:30Use. We have an arrow press, we have
- 55:32a Chemex, we have a French press.
- 55:34We have a mocha pot. Gigantic mocha.
- 55:36Pot. I think it's fucking.
- 55:37Huge. And yeah, yeah, that's how we
- 55:41get our coffee. Yep.
- 55:42So I get this guy at least with his like, look for food and wine
- 55:47and stuff like that. That's like a relatable thing.
- 55:49At least. But how is he doing all of this
- 55:51when they're just like drinking and drugging all day?
- 55:54You know, that's a great question.
- 55:56I wonder, it's almost like like the residents there are doing it
- 56:01and then he's taking credit for it.
- 56:03Very efficient sous chefs in the kitchen.
- 56:05Yeah, he's just, he's Gordon Ramsaying.
- 56:07He's like bubble up the food and plate it and do a little drizzle
- 56:13and yeah. She me Shammy.
- 56:17She me shammy. Whammy, whammy.
- 56:19So Camilla sold her astrology at King Tech, and then they asked
- 56:24Sarah if she's going to be on All Stars, and she goes.
- 56:26Yeah. But after 22 seasons, suddenly
- 56:28the network realized that women in bikinis struggling to survive
- 56:32on an island could be considered exploitative.
- 56:34So I trained for two years for nothing.
- 56:37That would suck. Yeah.
- 56:39Did they like, have all of that happen?
- 56:40But yeah, we're not going to do that.
- 56:42Well, dude, All right, So this is a constant thing that's
- 56:45talked about with Drag Race. But like, the Queens that are
- 56:48selected for the show spend 10s and sometimes hundreds of
- 56:53thousands of dollars on their runway packages for the show.
- 56:57Like, yeah. Like, so you're going on the
- 57:00show hoping for a chance to win, make it big, like, get that
- 57:03money back. But for the people that don't or
- 57:05for the people that get the call and something happens and it
- 57:08falls through. Yeah.
- 57:09Damn. You get exposure.
- 57:12Yeah, but. I hate that like, Oh no, we'll
- 57:14pay you an exposure, but I mean that does like at least help him
- 57:16a bit. Hey, I was on the season like
- 57:18OK, that opens some doors for. You, yeah.
- 57:21OK, so yeah, they start partying, they do drugs with
- 57:26intention. Also, there's like, this moment,
- 57:30and again, this is for you trying to be like, just not the
- 57:35powerful woman we saw telling Jess to have self respect.
- 57:38But like, she goes to get some steak and she, you know, asked
- 57:41later if he's going to get something.
- 57:42He goes, oh, no, I don't eat red meat.
- 57:43And she gets embarrassed and puts her back.
- 57:45Like, what? You eat meat?
- 57:47And I'm not bothered by it. Like, yeah.
- 57:49That is a weird thing to be bothered.
- 57:51By yeah, like it's like never a thing that like has ever been.
- 57:55Some people will be like, I feel like I can't eat in front of
- 57:57you. I'm like, that's a you problem
- 57:58because I don't give a shit. Like just don't try and make me
- 58:00eat it or tell me that I should. People ask me that all the time.
- 58:03Like, oh, I like, oh, so yeah, like Jessie's a vegan.
- 58:06Like, Oh my God, how do you guys eat?
- 58:07I'm like, I mean, I eat my stuff and she eats her stuff like most
- 58:11people do. Yeah, like we just aren't weird
- 58:14about it, I guess. So, yeah.
- 58:17So she goes to put it back and like at some I guess the steak
- 58:23like. Juice.
- 58:27I thought it was wine. I thought she spilled wine.
- 58:28Or. So no, I think it was like blood
- 58:30from the steak. Oh, yeah, 'cause like, Wino
- 58:33would have like, dribbled down more.
- 58:34This was like, more like right there.
- 58:36Yeah. Gross.
- 58:38And Victoria tries to give her a hard time about that.
- 58:41And then he's also like, well, what are you doing in life?
- 58:43And like, yeah, she, she hasn't gotten like, off the ground with
- 58:48her nail art or anything yet. And she probably doesn't want to
- 58:51tell this person like, oh, I actually was serving at the gala
- 58:53before. We still got like, she kind of
- 58:56sides. So she goes, you know, I'm just
- 58:57kind of taking life as it comes. And he's trying to laugh about
- 59:01her aimlessness. And then Slater kind of cuts
- 59:04that off. And he's like, guess what?
- 59:05It's time to party, bitches. Yeah, I hate that these people
- 59:12suck because they like, have some fun moments.
- 59:14Yeah, yeah. OK, so it's a montage of just
- 59:20like a bunch of like partying, Basically what these people do
- 59:23when they get high, they dance. That's pretty much all they do.
- 59:26We do see at one point, like Frida, like her and Jess cuddle
- 59:29up her bed and she realizes the stains gone from her dress and
- 59:32she's confused, but she brushes it off.
- 59:34We see more dancing. We see them creeping through the
- 59:37woods. We see that we see them playing,
- 59:41being in the sauna, dinner, more drugs go by the pool, smoke some
- 59:47pot. They've got dirty feet, dirty,
- 59:49dirty feet. The lighter keeps disappearing.
- 59:52So this has just been, we don't know how long they've been on
- 59:54the island, but this seems to be like, I kind of get why Frida is
- 59:59seduced by this. I mean it would be nice.
- 1:00:02Yeah, I haven't told Travis. I was like, we need like a
- 1:00:05Dionysus type private fuck island.
- 1:00:08Like that would be fun. Like, you know.
- 1:00:10Yeah. Also the whole thing with Jess,
- 1:00:14she's like, she's constantly handing out her lighter and
- 1:00:18stuff, which we get a lot of shots of that here, too, where
- 1:00:20like someone's like, I need to smoke or I need a light, and she
- 1:00:23just tosses it. And it happened before too.
- 1:00:25But she's like, I'm, I'm just going to have to end up putting
- 1:00:26my name on it because she can never find her a lighter back.
- 1:00:29Yeah. So that'll become important
- 1:00:30later. Yeah, it also just.
- 1:00:32It feels so fucking real. Yeah, it does.
- 1:00:34Yeah, Slater asked about Freda Scar.
- 1:00:38And she's like, honestly, I can't remember where it came
- 1:00:40from. And then she started talking
- 1:00:42about her animal moles. Yeah.
- 1:00:45And now, yeah, he pretends he he does his best.
- 1:00:48So I make it be like, oh, I don't get it.
- 1:00:50Yeah, I like it because it at like on surface level it just
- 1:00:54sounds like you're putting nail into animal.
- 1:00:58But like another like term like used for like nail whackers,
- 1:01:02nail enamel. Oh, really?
- 1:01:03Yeah. So like it works.
- 1:01:05Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that, that was an easy 1
- 1:01:09to get for me. But then again, I live with you,
- 1:01:10somebody who has a love, a true love for puns, so.
- 1:01:13OK, I thought you were gonna call out my Like Dragon horde of
- 1:01:20nail Polish. You'd have a lot of that, too.
- 1:01:23Yeah, you're, you're both of those right there in this
- 1:01:26situation. He, he's like, OK, I got to go
- 1:01:30to bed. And she goes, no, he goes hang
- 1:01:31out therapy in the morning. And like, so about the way he
- 1:01:35says it, Like he's like, oh, shut.
- 1:01:37Yeah. You got to respect that.
- 1:01:39And he leaves his vape and she's like, sweet, this is my in with
- 1:01:43him. And I kind of be like, babe,
- 1:01:45you're on an island. Yeah, you're already on Fuck
- 1:01:48Island. Yeah, no.
- 1:01:50With Edward, yeah, I was going to say, at least with Edward and
- 1:01:52Bella, like it was a consensual fuck island.
- 1:01:54Well, actually, no. No, he like he didn't want it
- 1:01:59anymore and she kept pressuring him.
- 1:02:02The dynamic flipped. Yeah, actually, yeah.
- 1:02:06No, we need a we need a fuck island that's consensual.
- 1:02:10That's gonna be our fuck island. Yeah, we'll.
- 1:02:12Call it consensual. Fuck Island.
- 1:02:14Yeah, yeah, yeah. Enthusiastic.
- 1:02:16Yes. Fuck Island.
- 1:02:17I think people would be like, that's too on the nose.
- 1:02:20There's gonna be some bad stuff that goes down there.
- 1:02:25OK, so where are we at? Oh yeah, she.
- 1:02:27Goes she has the vape and she's going to go return it to him.
- 1:02:29And then she, like wonders off and she finds this random room
- 1:02:33and she goes inside. Wait, no, no, she doesn't.
- 1:02:37Yeah, yeah. She she goes to give him the
- 1:02:40vape back but before she goes she realizes her nails are
- 1:02:42really dirty and she's like EW that's gross.
- 1:02:44She sits in the weird chair and is ready to give him his vape
- 1:02:50back and he comes out and everybody was in his therapy
- 1:02:52session with him. And she's like, that's kind of
- 1:02:54weird. And then she goes, here's your
- 1:02:56vape. And he goes, aw, that's so
- 1:02:57sweet. Then we see like more stuff by
- 1:03:01the pool and she and Slater are over, kind of off to the side
- 1:03:05and they're laughing. And then she very relatable
- 1:03:09moment. She's like, everything is too
- 1:03:10perfect right now. Something bad's gonna happen.
- 1:03:13This is about the turning point. Yeah, I'll be right here too.
- 1:03:15So it's like basically telling you, oh, here's where the bad.
- 1:03:17Stuff happens. They go to dinner, we have the
- 1:03:22lighter discussion again. And just like, I got to put my
- 1:03:24name on this thing and like, you know, we're watching this and it
- 1:03:30makes sense because they've been doing a lot of drugs.
- 1:03:32I'm like, I probably don't realize they're making the same
- 1:03:34joke over and over again. But then later we realized,
- 1:03:36like, she really doesn't realize.
- 1:03:38She's taking the same joke over and over again.
- 1:03:43We get some drugs and dancing and everybody's having a good
- 1:03:47time and I want to be at this pool party and everybody.
- 1:03:51'S like a toga party. Yeah, dress.
- 1:03:54Yeah. It it just, it seems like this
- 1:03:58is right before the fantasy ends and you're like, man, this seems
- 1:04:01like a fun life. And then Jess is bitten by a
- 1:04:04snake and she's freaking out. And she goes, oh, my God, is it
- 1:04:08poisonous? I'm going to die.
- 1:04:10And Slater goes It's venomous. Not right now, dude.
- 1:04:13I like his delivery. This is like, Oh my God, am I
- 1:04:16going to die? It's venomous.
- 1:04:17You're not going to die, though. Like, you're a fuck.
- 1:04:20How are you going to know? Like, yeah, you're not some kind
- 1:04:23of fucking snake expert. He's like, you're going to be
- 1:04:25OK, you're going to be OK. And she's like, I need to go to
- 1:04:27the hospital and like we're nowhere near the hospital and
- 1:04:29we're all way too drunk to fly the plane.
- 1:04:31Yeah, I which raises a good question.
- 1:04:34I feel like he has his own personal doctor on.
- 1:04:37You would think so. Freda brings her some water.
- 1:04:41She's kind of sitting off to the side.
- 1:04:42And just like, I just feel really weird.
- 1:04:45I'm really scared. Do you know what day it is where
- 1:04:48like, we're just here with these people we barely know.
- 1:04:51All we're doing is eating and doing drugs.
- 1:04:53Like what's happening? And she's really freaked out.
- 1:04:56And Freda is like please don't ruin this for me.
- 1:04:59Bad friend moment, Freda. She's so yeah, she's like don't,
- 1:05:02don't do this, Don't do this to me.
- 1:05:05Like Jesus, man. Like, think of your friend for a
- 1:05:07fucking second. Yeah, she's like, this is the
- 1:05:09first time that I'm actually like, you know, here I'm.
- 1:05:13I'm with the people I want to be with.
- 1:05:15And it's like Jess lives with you in the black mold apartment.
- 1:05:18I don't want to be with you, but you know that.
- 1:05:21She walks in on your poop mist all the time like.
- 1:05:24That's why she doesn't want to be with her anymore.
- 1:05:26It's like I finally have people that respect my poop boundaries.
- 1:05:29I have people that don't watch me poop.
- 1:05:31Yeah, don't call me the kids. It's weird, Jess.
- 1:05:34It's fucking weird. Oh my God, maybe that's what
- 1:05:37Jess was talking about. Like because Rita had to drop
- 1:05:39her kids off at the pool. Oh.
- 1:05:40My God. We solved it.
- 1:05:42We solved it. Cracked the case, everybody All
- 1:05:47right, so Jess is like, OK, you're right.
- 1:05:48I'm sorry. Yeah, let's just enjoy this.
- 1:05:51We'll have fun and. Then she has a Nosebleed and
- 1:05:53then we cut to the next day. And like in the middle of her
- 1:05:57sleep, like we get cuts of things happening and then like
- 1:05:59there's like a flash of Jess handing her a knife saying
- 1:06:05quick, hide this. No, not yet.
- 1:06:07That didn't happen there. Nope.
- 1:06:08I thought it happened there. Nope.
- 1:06:10Because now we're about to get to the part where Freda's
- 1:06:12wandering around. She finds a gift bag on the
- 1:06:14ground. So she picks it up and she sees
- 1:06:16a small outbuilding and she goes in there and she sees all the
- 1:06:18gift bags are all lined up. And she gets spooked by the
- 1:06:23housekeeper who's in there. And she's like, oh, sorry.
- 1:06:26And the housekeeper, like, holds out a bottle.
- 1:06:27She goes, oh, and she goes, don't worry.
- 1:06:29I'm not an arc. She's like trust me, your
- 1:06:30employer not sober either. This, the housekeeper is very
- 1:06:36unsettling too. I think it's just because she
- 1:06:38just smiles and like doesn't really say anything half the
- 1:06:41time. She just wants to.
- 1:06:42Even just smiles. She does the alternate title for
- 1:06:44this movie where she doesn't blink.
- 1:06:46That's true. She doesn't.
- 1:06:47It's basically watching Smile Like combined with Blink twice.
- 1:06:52See, when I think about the not blinking, I automatically go to
- 1:06:56Jake Jiggling Dolls and Nightcrawler.
- 1:07:00Nightcrawler. Thank you.
- 1:07:01I almost had nighthawk and I was like, no, that's a painting.
- 1:07:06But so yeah, she holds out some of the some of the stuff for her
- 1:07:11to drink and fruit is like, OK, cool, I took a drink when you
- 1:07:13were having fun. And then she's like, Oh my God,
- 1:07:15it's terrible. What is it?
- 1:07:17And then she looks over and sees a snake that has been milked.
- 1:07:22Harvested. You know, I mean, I do think
- 1:07:24they call it milking when they're getting the you.
- 1:07:26Milk a fucking snake? Yeah, No way.
- 1:07:29Yeah, I think that. I'm pretty sure that's the
- 1:07:31terminology they use. I'm not making it up.
- 1:07:35OK? This isn't a bread salsa
- 1:07:37situation. Man, what's it like to have
- 1:07:41otters in your mouth? Otters for teeth.
- 1:07:45I well, I don't like that imagery.
- 1:07:50Snake doesn't either. OK, OK, so yeah, she freaks out
- 1:07:56and she runs away. And she's like having random
- 1:07:59flashes, like she cuts tonight and she sees like, all the women
- 1:08:03are running dresses there. And they kind of saw.
- 1:08:05And they're like, why are we running?
- 1:08:07And then there's like a flash of like, stuff splattering on the
- 1:08:10floor, just giving her a knife and saying, here, hide this.
- 1:08:14Oh yeah, yeah, that's when that happens.
- 1:08:15And we cut back to her. She has a Nosebleed and she
- 1:08:17pukes. She goes to breakfast and Tom
- 1:08:22has a face stick and Heather has bangs and Lucas has a black eye.
- 1:08:28So last night was wild, Yeah. Got a lot of hand.
- 1:08:33The guys are all gonna go fishing and the women are two
- 1:08:37Hungovers. They're like, we're gonna have
- 1:08:39girl time during their girl time.
- 1:08:42They are passing the lighter and then Freda goes, wait, what
- 1:08:46happened to my friend Jess? And I'm like, what are you even
- 1:08:48talking about? Because my friend Jess, she was
- 1:08:50here and they're like, we, we would remember if there was
- 1:08:53another person she was. So she freaks out and she goes
- 1:08:55to check Jess's room and say she's like, that's a storage
- 1:08:58room. And when Freda opens it up, in
- 1:08:59fact, it does look like it has always been a storage room.
- 1:09:02Like it is dusty. It is full to the brim with
- 1:09:04stuff. How the?
- 1:09:04Fuck did they do that? Like when we were watching this
- 1:09:06for the first time I generally thought oh are we going in the
- 1:09:09direction where she just is? Like having fake people in her
- 1:09:12head. Yeah, I'm glad we didn't go that
- 1:09:14direction. Yeah, me too.
- 1:09:15That's that's an overdone type of story, I think.
- 1:09:18So, you know, this is kind of confusing.
- 1:09:21And she goes to her room and she's freaking out.
- 1:09:23She finds the hidden knife and she's like, so I remembered that
- 1:09:26that was real. And then Sarah comes in and
- 1:09:29Sarah and her have like been kind of a little tense with each
- 1:09:32other because Sarah seems very into Slater.
- 1:09:35Yeah, it's like a little competition there between them.
- 1:09:37Yeah, and she holds out the lighter and then flips it over
- 1:09:41where Jess has written on it. And she was like, she's like, I
- 1:09:45don't want to come across as a bitch.
- 1:09:48I just feel like I would remember a whole other person.
- 1:09:52I think that's fair to say. Yeah, Honestly, yeah.
- 1:09:55And Freda is just trying to talk about like how she feels weird
- 1:09:59about all of this and she's having these weird flashes.
- 1:10:01And, you know, she's like, it's different for you guys because
- 1:10:05you're all friends and sort of goes, no, I didn't really know
- 1:10:07anybody. I was just in this coffee shop.
- 1:10:08And then Victoria was talking or Cody started talking me up.
- 1:10:11And and then at the same time, they both go, Oh my God.
- 1:10:15She's like, we're fucking idiots.
- 1:10:16We got on planes with these guys.
- 1:10:18We don't even know like. Yeah, when you think, when you
- 1:10:21put it that way, it really is the what the fuck were you
- 1:10:25thinking? But also like, yeah, like what
- 1:10:28the fuck were they thinking? But also like, generally, you
- 1:10:31want to hope people aren't going to drug you.
- 1:10:33You want to believe the best in people.
- 1:10:35Yeah. And especially when you're
- 1:10:36getting charmed up like that. I mean, like nobody like wants
- 1:10:39to default, oh, this is too good that they're going to drug me.
- 1:10:42Also, you think about like how different life is for rich
- 1:10:45people, You know what I mean? Like, maybe it's not out because
- 1:10:48like, you know, they kind of make a joke about like how all
- 1:10:50of the clothes are there in the rooms.
- 1:10:53And Jeff says, I guess just seems like a rich people thing
- 1:10:55to me, like. Yeah, rich people live like a
- 1:10:57weird yeah, not not real life, like it's not grounded
- 1:11:02whatsoever. Like here in Rich world, we wear
- 1:11:06one quoting Yeah. So Freda remembers forgetting as
- 1:11:12a gift, and she's like, hold on. So they go back to that little
- 1:11:16outbuilding and they find all those gift bags and they see the
- 1:11:18perfume in them and they realize the perfume is making them
- 1:11:21forget. And they also realize there's
- 1:11:25nothing they can do in terms of calling the cops or FBI because
- 1:11:30what the fuck? What if they just chose to not
- 1:11:32use the perfume that day? You know, it's a really good
- 1:11:38question. And I don't know if they were
- 1:11:40just, like, hoping that, like, a women would continue using it.
- 1:11:45And I feel like maybe we kind of see that some with Slater where
- 1:11:47he just keeps saying, oh, you smell really good.
- 1:11:49I love that perfume on you. Like manipulation.
- 1:11:52Yeah. But like, how is that working on
- 1:11:54Sarah? Because she hates Cody.
- 1:11:57Have Slater say it. Yeah, yeah, maybe like says it
- 1:12:02to Frida, like right near her. So she's like.
- 1:12:05An entire bond. She's like an eighth grade boy
- 1:12:09with Old Spice. Not old spice axe body spray.
- 1:12:15I had a friend that used to like basically do his showers with
- 1:12:17that instead of actually showering.
- 1:12:19It was nasty. So she makes, she has Sarah
- 1:12:24drink some of the snake venom and she's like a snake venom.
- 1:12:27And Sarah goes, oh, and she takes her, she goes, oh, why
- 1:12:29didn't you warn me? And she's like, I, I did,
- 1:12:31though. And they're like, OK, how are we
- 1:12:34going to get Heather and Camilla to drink it and then come out to
- 1:12:36the building? They're like shots, bitches.
- 1:12:40And so they're doing shots and Stacey comes on and she goes.
- 1:12:43You know, I used to do. I used to shot I.
- 1:12:45Used to throw on back in the day, yeah.
- 1:12:47So she starts doing shots in this moment.
- 1:12:51Reminded me so much of Jamie Lee Curtis and Scream Queens when
- 1:12:55they're trying to poison her with the cider and she, like,
- 1:12:58kind of belches at the end and they think that she's gonna die.
- 1:13:00And she goes that's is it Nutmeg?
- 1:13:04And the way Stacey, like, kind of lets out a little baby.
- 1:13:06She goes tanky. Yeah.
- 1:13:08Yeah. It, it just.
- 1:13:08It makes sense for that. Yeah.
- 1:13:10So Freda is gonna go for the phones.
- 1:13:13And she says, you know, if the guys come back, just shout that
- 1:13:17once really loudly. And Sarah starts getting
- 1:13:22Nosebleed and she tries to cool it on the shots because she
- 1:13:26doesn't want Camilla and Heather to hit a wall.
- 1:13:29But they're like, no. So let's see.
- 1:13:34Oh, Cody sneaks up behind Sarah, and which this is a dumb fucking
- 1:13:39move even if she hadn't gotten her memory back like she was on
- 1:13:46a show called Hot Survivor Babes.
- 1:13:47Of course she's gonna break your fucking nose if you sneak up
- 1:13:49behind her. Yeah, it's really fucking dumb
- 1:13:52on him. And like, she started like she
- 1:13:56had her nose bleed moment, right?
- 1:13:58Yeah. She was trying to get the other
- 1:13:59two to stop. They're like, oh, we fucking go
- 1:14:01hard. Yeah.
- 1:14:04So yeah, he sneaks up, she elbows him right in the nose,
- 1:14:07breaks his nose, and yeah, does not go well.
- 1:14:12Then she she. Started shouting fat blunt a lot
- 1:14:16like she'll be like how about we light up a fat blunt?
- 1:14:20I think our whole neighborhood just heard.
- 1:14:21Yeah. Everybody's going to be winding
- 1:14:23up at her door. Yeah.
- 1:14:24Yeah. You get the fat bone over here.
- 1:14:26Yeah. So she's doing that, and Freda
- 1:14:30doesn't hear it because she's like trying to break open the
- 1:14:32lock that's closing the cabinet where the phones are.
- 1:14:36And when she does finally hear it, she kind of panics.
- 1:14:38Knocks over a box of Polaroids, shoves a couple in her dress to
- 1:14:41look at later, and then she's hiding underneath the desk.
- 1:14:44Slater comes in. He's just getting some vape
- 1:14:46juice. He's got a whole cabinet
- 1:14:48dedicated to his vape juice. That's obnoxious.
- 1:14:52Pro gamer move. Obnoxious.
- 1:14:55Freda had dripped a little bit of her nose blood in there too.
- 1:14:57And he is walking out on his way out.
- 1:15:01And then he stops right at the blood spot and we see that Freda
- 1:15:04is hiding under the dust. And she's like, oh, shit.
- 1:15:06And then he just says, what are we going to do with you?
- 1:15:09And then she's like, oh, he's got me.
- 1:15:12And then it cuts to him looking at the chairs like the chair is
- 1:15:14weird. And Stacy's like, how about we
- 1:15:17just light it on fire? And he's like, are you serious?
- 1:15:20And I was just like, I don't feel good.
- 1:15:21And she sits down with some Jelly beans.
- 1:15:23She must have went to the University of Kentucky, and
- 1:15:27that's the celebrated tradition of winning important basketball
- 1:15:30games. Will you burn couches?
- 1:15:31Yeah, hopefully tonight. Tonight.
- 1:15:35Burning. We're burning the couch tonight,
- 1:15:37y'all Yeah. So Frida, she remembers them all
- 1:15:42being tied up and she remembers Slater killing Jess, saying that
- 1:15:45like she was bit by a snake. She remembers everything.
- 1:15:48She manages to sneak out and she catches up with Sarah on the
- 1:15:52other end of the pool, who's like, Yep, I remember
- 1:15:55everything. And she goes Heather and
- 1:15:56Camilla, and she goes Nope, that they're taking time bombs.
- 1:15:59Heather is one of those characters that I never got her
- 1:16:01full name. I always wrote her down as the
- 1:16:03blunt queen. Fat, blunt queen.
- 1:16:05That's what they call her it. Is what they call her, yeah.
- 1:16:07As that is a fat blunt queen and Selena call me fat blunt queen.
- 1:16:12That's basically how she talks. So at dinner, Freya and Sarah
- 1:16:16are very on edge. They keep getting flashes of the
- 1:16:19torture that has happened. There's like one point where she
- 1:16:23remembers Slater telling the Doctor.
- 1:16:25Like the worse it is, the more they forget.
- 1:16:28Oh, it's so fucked up. Yeah.
- 1:16:31That's the moment where she, like, unlocks the whole scene.
- 1:16:34Like we see. That's the most that we see of
- 1:16:36the entire event happening. Yeah.
- 1:16:38And it's just like. Everybody like being chased
- 1:16:40around. Camilla's like, tied up to a
- 1:16:42statue, just sobbing. You get the fucking security
- 1:16:45guard just like sitting there reading his book.
- 1:16:47Yeah, Stan I think is his name. It's it's fucked up.
- 1:16:51Yeah, So Camilla is very, very drunk.
- 1:16:55And in a very relatable moment, she's like, you're my girls,
- 1:17:00you're my bitches. Anybody fucks with you, I'm a
- 1:17:03fuck them up. That's some of the best drunk
- 1:17:05acting I've seen ever. It was.
- 1:17:07She fucking sold that I I've been around many people that
- 1:17:11behave. Exactly.
- 1:17:12Like I was like, I've, I've, I've been that girl.
- 1:17:14Like I. Think yeah, yeah, she did a good
- 1:17:18job. And it's.
- 1:17:20Funny because like any time she like raises his voice like Oh my
- 1:17:23gosh, she like she's just no, she's just being drunk.
- 1:17:27They start talking about what they're gonna do when they get
- 1:17:29back home. So he was like, well, I kinda
- 1:17:31wanna take some of the skills that I developed for the show,
- 1:17:33and I think I'm gonna teach women survival skills.
- 1:17:37And then Freda gets very flinchy when Slater tries to grab her
- 1:17:40hand and she goes, I wanna dance.
- 1:17:43So they start dancing and they're kind of using it to
- 1:17:46distract the men. Like Sarah uses it to steal the
- 1:17:49Corkscrew. You know, they're they're kind
- 1:17:51of making some plans. And we cut to Stacy and she's
- 1:17:55remembering everything. We cut to Camilla.
- 1:17:58She is going to get water and she's just like pouring it.
- 1:18:01And like, you can see that moment where she's remember,
- 1:18:03like she's got the noseblade and the water.
- 1:18:05She's just like. Pouring on the ground.
- 1:18:08She's the one that I mean like she's true to her word because
- 1:18:11like she fucks up Hailey Joel Osmond.
- 1:18:14Like. She's like gets a knife and just
- 1:18:16starts. Sweating ice pick.
- 1:18:17Ice pick? Oh fuck yeah.
- 1:18:19Yeah, because remember Slater, Christian Slater, Victoria.
- 1:18:23See, that's confusing. Yeah, he'd been over there like
- 1:18:25he told us, Stan. He was like, you were a Marine,
- 1:18:28right? Oh my God, that's my favorite
- 1:18:30one. Always will be and he goes well.
- 1:18:33How about you to serve us twice? Be a hero twice and go grab some
- 1:18:37ice. It's so disrespectful.
- 1:18:39Yeah, and Camilla takes that ice pick, and yeah, she uses it to
- 1:18:42stab Halo. Jill Osmond Slater says that
- 1:18:45Freda smells different. But then all of this chaos
- 1:18:48starts happening. Heather remembers.
- 1:18:50And so she goes chasing after Victoria, and she smashes, like,
- 1:18:55bashes his fucking face in with this, like, ornate stone chest
- 1:19:00board. Sarah attacks Cody with the
- 1:19:03Corkscrew and then Stan shoots Heather.
- 1:19:07Slater gets Camilla tied up and then Stan chases Frida through
- 1:19:11the woods. Sarah hits him with a rock
- 1:19:14before he can shoot her. Yeah, he's he's got her dead to
- 1:19:17rights and then she saves the day.
- 1:19:19Luca cut to They've carried Victoria into the house.
- 1:19:24He can't feel his legs and his face is just, it's a bloody pulp
- 1:19:29and he's freaking out. Lucas comes in, he's like, Oh my
- 1:19:32God, everybody's dead. And he goes, yeah, you got, you
- 1:19:35got sprayed by the perfume, that this is a thing that we've been
- 1:19:38doing, you've been a part of it. And he goes, Oh my God, what did
- 1:19:41I do? He goes nothing, you just
- 1:19:43watched it all happen. And this is where I got the name
- 1:19:46for him. Nothing boy, 'cause he's just
- 1:19:48calling him nothing. Boy.
- 1:19:49Yeah, yeah. What are you gonna do now?
- 1:19:50Nothing boy he starts to bully him for.
- 1:19:52Some reason. Yeah.
- 1:19:53And as he's doing, he's like, putting his throat on Camilla or
- 1:19:55putting his foot on Camilla's throat.
- 1:19:57And yeah, that's rough. Yeah.
- 1:20:00Stacey is mad at Frida for making her remember.
- 1:20:03And she attacks her. And then Frida has, like, the
- 1:20:06hidden knife, so she stabs her. And yeah, this is where she has
- 1:20:10the like. She tells her she's like, help
- 1:20:12me. And she said.
- 1:20:12Bitch, I tried. So Freda re teams with Sarah and
- 1:20:17she discovers this is where she has the realization that she's
- 1:20:22been there before. She's like she's on Polaroids.
- 1:20:25Yeah, Oh yeah, she sees the Polaroid.
- 1:20:27Yeah, it's a Polaroid of her flipping off the camera and she
- 1:20:29sees a red rabbit painted on her fingernail.
- 1:20:32She's got completely different hair too.
- 1:20:34Yeah, well, they made, like a throwaway line to it at the
- 1:20:36beginning because Frida was kind of nervous.
- 1:20:37She was like, does this haircut make me look like a boy?
- 1:20:39So like, we knew it was a fairly recent haircut.
- 1:20:41Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:20:43So yeah, she nothing boy hears them like banging at the door
- 1:20:50and he goes to open the door. And Sarah shoots him from the
- 1:20:54bushes and Slater pulls Freda in and knocks away the knife from
- 1:20:59her hand and. She grabs like a statue and
- 1:21:02starts to just bludgeon his head.
- 1:21:04Yeah, and he somehow it's OK, and he fights back and gets her
- 1:21:09dearmed disarmed. There we go.
- 1:21:12Yeah. And then she, like, is like
- 1:21:15she's crawling on the ground backwards.
- 1:21:16And then he takes a moment to sit in the weird chair and tell
- 1:21:18her a little story. Yeah, well, Victoria like, says
- 1:21:21something to her and he goes, she's still, he's still a little
- 1:21:24bit mad from last year because this whole time, like, we've
- 1:21:26talked about Victoria having a missing pinky and he wouldn't
- 1:21:29tell the story. And the story was that when
- 1:21:31Slater chased her down last year, she fell and hit the rock.
- 1:21:35Victoria tried to grab her, and she bit the tip of his pinky
- 1:21:38off. Bit it off.
- 1:21:40So he's still mad about that. He he says we can go back to how
- 1:21:46things were. We can laugh, we can have fun.
- 1:21:48We can do brunch. Brunch is so fucking real.
- 1:21:51Yeah, brunch is so fucking real. I don't like this guy, but he's
- 1:21:56real about that. Brunch is very fucking real.
- 1:21:59And he says forgiveness is not real.
- 1:22:01And this is where he he has that monologue where he says, you
- 1:22:06know, that I'm sorry, it doesn't matter.
- 1:22:08And he's like, nobody will forgive you, all you can do is
- 1:22:10forget. So he leaves to go try and find
- 1:22:13Sarah. And he ends up bringing her in.
- 1:22:16Freda has gotten loose and she has the knife.
- 1:22:18And he gets the knife from her. And she's like, so are you going
- 1:22:21to kill me? He goes, no, why would I kill
- 1:22:23you? You're my best friend.
- 1:22:25And from the couch bit goes, what?
- 1:22:27That's that's a hurt moment. Yeah.
- 1:22:32And he vapes and he is about to cut Sarah's throat, but he just
- 1:22:39kind of pauses and he looks around.
- 1:22:41He goes, what? What?
- 1:22:43Oh my God, Oh my God, Lucas is dead.
- 1:22:46Victoria, what happened to you? He's freaking out.
- 1:22:48And we discovered that Frida perfume in his vape.
- 1:22:53I was really confused about this until I thought about it for a
- 1:22:57minute. But like, yeah, he just had
- 1:22:59everything wiped away. I thought that, like, it was for
- 1:23:02a moment there, I thought I was implying that he was under,
- 1:23:04like, a spell of his own that was making him be that way, you
- 1:23:07know, like something snapped him out of it.
- 1:23:10But yeah, no. OK.
- 1:23:11Yeah, so he's freaking out and he ends up falling and hitting
- 1:23:15his head. The house is on fire because all
- 1:23:17the candles that they've lit for light have gotten knocked over.
- 1:23:21So Sarah and Freda pull him out. The housekeeper's outside.
- 1:23:27She's just laughing as this burns down.
- 1:23:30And Sarah asked Freda if she's sure that she knows what she's
- 1:23:33doing. And Freda just kind of like,
- 1:23:36just kind of looks at the fire and nods a little bit.
- 1:23:38And we cut to the King Tech Foundation gala, presumably one
- 1:23:41year later. Freda's got a nice little Bob
- 1:23:45and a big fat rock on her finger, and she's taking some
- 1:23:50champagne and she's reminding Slater to, you know, go ahead,
- 1:23:54sit down. It's OK.
- 1:23:55I hate your vape. That's cool.
- 1:23:56Doctor Rich comes up and is like, I'd like to continue that
- 1:23:59conversation that we were having.
- 1:24:01And he's like, yeah, yeah. And like, it's that kind of like
- 1:24:06when somebody comes up to you that recognizes you, but you
- 1:24:08don't recognize them and you're trying not to be rude 'cause
- 1:24:10you're like, maybe I'll remember later.
- 1:24:11I don't want to be embarrassing. And he's just kind of doing
- 1:24:14that. And then when Freda comes up,
- 1:24:17Doctor Rich was like, oh, hi, I'm.
- 1:24:19She goes. I remember you.
- 1:24:20Yeah, yeah, like you can see the panic in his.
- 1:24:24Face Yeah. And then we've got the same MC
- 1:24:27from last year and he said I'd like to thank our wonderful
- 1:24:30charitable CEO of King Tech, Miss Frida King.
- 1:24:34I'm curious to know how that transition went down you.
- 1:24:39Should probably convince them to just like sign over some shit.
- 1:24:42Well, it seems like you forgot, right?
- 1:24:43Yeah. Like, no, I'm the boss.
- 1:24:46You just have to sign this document, remember?
- 1:24:47Oh yeah. Well, 'cause I don't think that
- 1:24:50the the stuff makes you forget everything, you know what I
- 1:24:54mean? Like she remembers other aspects
- 1:24:56of her life. She just didn't remember the
- 1:24:57stuff associated to him. Yeah.
- 1:24:59So no, I get it. It's it's it's just an ending to
- 1:25:02a movie. I'm just curious how they made
- 1:25:04that transition. Yeah.
- 1:25:07OK, OK. That's the end of the movie.
- 1:25:08That's the end. I was like, it's a nine.
- 1:25:11I think it's AI, think it's a really well done thriller and I
- 1:25:14think it's also like, like I said, it's very much a movie
- 1:25:18side version of a very common experience.
- 1:25:22Yeah, yeah, I think I'm gonna keep mine at 7:00.
- 1:25:26OK. Is there a change that you would
- 1:25:29make or? God, if I were to change
- 1:25:33anything, I maybe have like a little bit more variety in some
- 1:25:37of the scenes with it, with their drug and partying stuff.
- 1:25:40I get that it's supposed to be kind of a border, yeah.
- 1:25:42But I think it's also. Supposed to be kind of
- 1:25:44anonymous. Yeah, because I guess, Yeah, I
- 1:25:47guess that's the point. I don't know.
- 1:25:49I really don't know if I have anything necessary.
- 1:25:51Like it's just one of those movies for me that it's a 7.
- 1:25:53They did everything right, but it's A7.
- 1:25:56That's fair, I've I've definitely had some of those so
- 1:25:59can't argue it too much I guess. Yeah.
- 1:26:02OK Talia, we started off this movie.
- 1:26:05My first note for her was Wander and Fart.
- 1:26:08Talia was really in a mood. She was in a mood for sure.
- 1:26:14And then she was playing with her toys.
- 1:26:16She was just, she was all over the place.
- 1:26:18I think she was very engaged in this.
- 1:26:20She didn't understand why Channing Tatum was all of a
- 1:26:23sudden a bad guy. She was like it must be because
- 1:26:27he doesn't watch people poop so he doesn't care about them.
- 1:26:30That's the moral of the story. The moral of the story is that
- 1:26:33even though it makes people uncomfortable, you should
- 1:26:34probably watch them poop. Please don't take that to be the
- 1:26:38actual moral of the story, guys. Yeah, that's the be part.
- 1:26:43I think Talia is going to give this.
- 1:26:47I think she's gonna give this an 8.
- 1:26:48She's gonna be right between us because I think she likes most
- 1:26:51of this, but I think the snakes probably would scare her.
- 1:26:53Yeah. Oh, no, she's never had an
- 1:26:56encounter with a snake. I think we've shouldered her
- 1:26:58from that. There have been snakes around
- 1:27:00now. Yeah, yeah, OK.
- 1:27:06Zoe, who was her ultimate warrior.
- 1:27:14I I would say it's between Sarah and Camilla.
- 1:27:25I think she appreciates the fiery intensity that comes with
- 1:27:28Camilla. But would she like the fact that
- 1:27:32Camilla is not appreciative of being with the guy who makes the
- 1:27:35food? That's Sarah.
- 1:27:39Oh yeah, you're right. That is Sarah.
- 1:27:42Sorry, I was thinking of Sarah that she would like the
- 1:27:44survivalist bit of it. Yeah, it was.
- 1:27:47Zoe is a survivalist actually, because she, like, had a very
- 1:27:51troubled kittyhood. That's true.
- 1:27:54She she was found under the hood of a car.
- 1:27:57Yep. So yeah, you know what I think
- 1:27:59it's that I think she, like, she relates to the survivalist.
- 1:28:03Yeah. Who did you relate?
- 1:28:05Well, as shitty as he is, I relate to Cody George.
- 1:28:12George Yeah, that's Cody. I just relate to the being like,
- 1:28:16obsessed with like that one thing, like his food and his
- 1:28:19wine. Like that's how I am with my
- 1:28:20coffee, you know, Like, I get it.
- 1:28:23Like, you want to share that with the people in your life?
- 1:28:28Yeah. And, you know, maybe it does
- 1:28:30come across as obnoxious. Like, I woman, our family comes
- 1:28:34over. Like, I'll be like, oh, yeah.
- 1:28:35Like, let me make you some good coffee.
- 1:28:37But like it's a process. Yeah, I mean I have to make 2
- 1:28:39batches in the connect. Yeah, I can't just fire up the
- 1:28:42coffee pot and do it, but like, I to me, like, it's worth it.
- 1:28:45Trust me. Like for him, he's probably the
- 1:28:46same way with his food. And then it comes across as
- 1:28:49obnoxious, probably. But it comes from a place of,
- 1:28:51yeah, just being really passionate about something you
- 1:28:53care about. Also like how we don't have
- 1:28:55Creamer like he probably doesn't allow like ketchup.
- 1:28:58Yeah, yeah, no. Sauce.
- 1:29:00No steak. Sauce especially.
- 1:29:01Yeah, no A1. What about you?
- 1:29:05I see. Probably.
- 1:29:13Probably Camilla, I think because of like the whole like.
- 1:29:19That was you. Y'all are my bitches.
- 1:29:21But also I could see an argument for you and Frida with the nail.
- 1:29:24Stuff. Yeah, well, I didn't want to
- 1:29:26make myself the main character that feels.
- 1:29:28No, you can be the main character if it's appropriate in
- 1:29:31that situation. I think it really is because you
- 1:29:33you get really creative with your nail stuff.
- 1:29:35You like do your own custom paintings on your nails all the
- 1:29:39time like you. You do that.
- 1:29:41Yeah. I think it's, you know what?
- 1:29:43If you hadn't, if she hadn't beaten you to the animal nail
- 1:29:47and nail moles, I think you would have done that, too.
- 1:29:51You still can. One of my favorite stamp arts I
- 1:29:54ever did was I combined a possum and a crown.
- 1:29:58So the Possum Queen. That's exactly what I'm talking
- 1:30:00about right there. See.
- 1:30:02Yeah. OK.
- 1:30:07Tag on. Tag.
- 1:30:08Or no dream sequel. Dream sequel.
- 1:30:12Well, let's see. We have to assume she inherited
- 1:30:17the island. Yeah.
- 1:30:21Does he when they go back to the island, what kind of movie are
- 1:30:26we doing? Maybe he like, oh, maybe it's
- 1:30:30like her trying to like maintain this and then he like she brings
- 1:30:34him to the island and he gets bit by a snake this time and
- 1:30:37then it's him. It's like a struggle to like he
- 1:30:39wants to go back, but he doesn't want to like let her know that
- 1:30:42he like, I don't. Want to turn him into the person
- 1:30:45that we're rooting for? Him we're not rooting for him
- 1:30:47though we like because we know that he he's trying to reclaim
- 1:30:52like you know his shit and he wants to go back to his like
- 1:30:55private or shitty lifestyle. So.
- 1:30:57What if like the island like she's turned it into like?
- 1:31:00She's joined. Forces with Sarah and this is
- 1:31:02where Sarah does her like survival.
- 1:31:04That's a great idea, Yeah. It's like a getaway or like a
- 1:31:07resort for like people, like a people who have dealt with
- 1:31:11abuse. Yeah.
- 1:31:12Something like that, yeah. I mean, not even necessarily
- 1:31:15have to be that like just people that want to go learn survival
- 1:31:17skills and. And she like.
- 1:31:19Or it could be both like you. I think it should be both, Yeah.
- 1:31:21Because, like, you know, I feel like they would want to really
- 1:31:24bring in, like, their experience, especially at that
- 1:31:27place where such horrible things have happened.
- 1:31:28Make it like purify the place and make it like you know
- 1:31:32better. We see Slater participating in,
- 1:31:35like, group therapy sessions, and he's like, kind of like, he
- 1:31:38seems like genuine because the things that he are, he is
- 1:31:41remembering. He's like, yeah, I feel like
- 1:31:42maybe I've done some bad stuff in my life and I just have that
- 1:31:45general sense, you know? And like he's it's.
- 1:31:48Like really weird. Like I, I remember like
- 1:31:50everything like tendon up to 30. And then like I forgot my 30s.
- 1:31:56Something weird happened in those two decades.
- 1:31:59But yeah, like, I, I want him to be there and he like, because
- 1:32:03like, things are going good, got a good thing going.
- 1:32:05But he gets bit by the snake and it's like, oh, now that's where
- 1:32:08the villain comes in. The problem he realizes like, oh
- 1:32:11this was actually my shit. And he tries to like.
- 1:32:17But then, like, we've got this whole different group of people
- 1:32:20that are, like, fighting him. Like, they haven't had their,
- 1:32:24like, memories erased. They're instead of just like,
- 1:32:26actually doing like, real therapeutic work and like, yeah.
- 1:32:32Yeah. Which I think The thing is, this
- 1:32:36raises questions still too, because like, do you think that
- 1:32:41he was aware that he was the CEO of the company?
- 1:32:44I think he is. I think he probably does
- 1:32:46remember that, and he probably does remember stepping down.
- 1:32:49He's gonna have people approach him and be like, my God, you
- 1:32:53were so shitty you abused your power as the CEO of the company
- 1:32:57and be like, what are you fucking talking about?
- 1:32:59But maybe when he gets his memory back, like maybe he is
- 1:33:04just like under the assumption like, oh, everybody will just
- 1:33:07fall back in line with the status quo and that doesn't
- 1:33:10happen. Yeah.
- 1:33:12So. Yeah, because he's.
- 1:33:13Not going to be surrounded by yes men, I.
- 1:33:15Like the premise that we have, I don't really know the direction
- 1:33:18that would need to go in, but I like where we have the we got
- 1:33:21the log on right there. Yeah, it's one that you like,
- 1:33:23really have to be careful how you do.
- 1:33:25So you want to make sure that you're sending the RAT like the
- 1:33:28message you want to send across. Yeah, I don't think bringing him
- 1:33:31and making him aware is like making him somebody to root for.
- 1:33:33I think it's like introducing, like that's where the villain
- 1:33:36arises, where he like he is, he remembers, like, yeah, and he
- 1:33:40wants it back. It's like you thought he was in
- 1:33:41his villain era before. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:33:45OK. It could be.
- 1:33:46You could take it in some interesting directions all.
- 1:33:48Right, I'll dig it. All right, let's do A tag like
- 1:33:53twice. Say cheese.
- 1:34:01Don't blink and say cheese. Don't blink and say cheese.
- 1:34:06Cuz like, yeah, like you're trying to take a picture.
- 1:34:09OK, Smile, don't blink, say cheese 123.
- 1:34:15It's like you're getting ready to take a picture.
- 1:34:18I think you need to just make that the 123 say cheese.
- 1:34:23No, that's not a good. Look, so it's trying to
- 1:34:26incorporate the don't blink. Yeah, OK, There's never any
- 1:34:32trouble in paradise. About forgetting is a curse.
- 1:34:40Forgetting is a regift. Or you can just have like
- 1:34:46forgetting is a gift. Cross out the gift and whatever
- 1:34:50word you want to put there it could be.
- 1:34:54What if it's like forgetting is a gift and then cross it out
- 1:34:57remembering as a gift? That's better, yeah.
- 1:35:02Remembering as a gift, yeah. But yeah, I don't, I don't know.
- 1:35:09I guess it is a kind of a gift in this situation because that's
- 1:35:11something that you should like you want to remember.
- 1:35:13But then again, that's probably something you don't want to
- 1:35:14remember. Forgetting is a gift.
- 1:35:16Remembering is power. That's good.
- 1:35:19There we go. All right, we really workshopped
- 1:35:22that one. That one took.
- 1:35:23That was longer than normal. That was a tough one to do one
- 1:35:26for. Yeah.
- 1:35:27Yeah, OK, OK. Are we ready for a review?
- 1:35:32We are. Like I said, I had a hard time
- 1:35:35with this one. I was trying to find a review
- 1:35:37that wasn't just like, I don't like how this makes me
- 1:35:39uncomfortable. Yeah, so this one rebels in the
- 1:35:42setup, fails to deliver. And this is somebody who just
- 1:35:46watched it. Apparently it just came to
- 1:35:48streaming, so a movie which should have delivered much never
- 1:35:52feels able to truly reach an impactful ending.
- 1:35:54It's been so long reveling and depicting the aspirational
- 1:35:57visions of the poor average people that it loses itself
- 1:36:00along the way. I grew very tired of lazy,
- 1:36:03hedonistic visions. The audience has to endure
- 1:36:05social media and views largest ad nauseam.
- 1:36:08Which would be great if the film delivered a payoff, but for me
- 1:36:11it doesn't. Aside from intense some intense
- 1:36:13violence to break the aforementioned monotony, it's
- 1:36:16largely dull. Which is a shame given its real
- 1:36:18intention. It's hard to walk away from this
- 1:36:20maybe without feeling an opportunity was missed.
- 1:36:22The setup works and could have been reduced in order to explore
- 1:36:25the real complexity and tragedy of the story.
- 1:36:27Somehow the film manages to make itself feel irrelevant because
- 1:36:30it enjoys the real horror we should all be aware of.
- 1:36:33And this is the real tragedy. It's like having Hansel and
- 1:36:36Gretel talk about how good Candy is.
- 1:36:38And maybe that's Neppo Hollywood in a nutshell.
- 1:36:40I'm thankful I'll never know. That was insightful, a little
- 1:36:44bit confusing. Yeah, I I guess I can understand
- 1:36:51like the monotonous of it. It's kind of what I was saying
- 1:36:53with them like doing like 50% of the movie being then partying
- 1:36:56and it's all the same partying. Which that was kind of like to
- 1:36:59your point, the point, because days are supposed to be bleeding
- 1:37:03and blending together and you're not really supposed to be sure
- 1:37:05what's what or what's like the same different.
- 1:37:09So I get it. And it makes sense to do that as
- 1:37:14a creative decision, but as like a viewing experience, it can be
- 1:37:17a little bit monotonous. I think it really comes down to
- 1:37:19the type of like aesthetic you prefer in a film, you know what
- 1:37:25I mean? Not even aesthetic, but like
- 1:37:27stylistic choices in storytelling I guess.
- 1:37:31It's kind of like what I was saying last week with tremors,
- 1:37:33like with them being on rocks a lot.
- 1:37:35Yeah. It's basically like they're
- 1:37:36they're partying a lot in this and it's just like switching it
- 1:37:40up a little bit can be good. But it made sense in this sense,
- 1:37:45in the context of this movie, for it to be.
- 1:37:47I'd argue that it made sense in Tremors too, but.
- 1:37:50Yeah, but I think in Tremors, you know, you can like, like in
- 1:37:54this movie, you can have them partying in different ways.
- 1:37:56But yeah, and trimmers, you can go on things other than a rock,
- 1:38:01like a Caterpillar, like an actual Caterpillar.
- 1:38:05I. Don't think that would work.
- 1:38:08What kind of nightmare caterpillars are you familiar
- 1:38:10with? You can have Haley Joel Osment
- 1:38:12there. But like as a grown adult.
- 1:38:15As a grown adult when he was actually a child, which would
- 1:38:18make it even more weird. OK, do we have listener reviews?
- 1:38:27We do. We got one that came in as we
- 1:38:29were recording. We have live news coming to you
- 1:38:35guys from Michael Lee Howard over on Instagram all.
- 1:38:39Right. He says.
- 1:38:41I was not sure what I expected from Blink Twice.
- 1:38:43Initially I thought it was a commentary on parasocial
- 1:38:46relationships, but now I see it as much more sinister.
- 1:38:50It was intense in the second-half.
- 1:38:52It kept me guessing. I'm glad I went into it blind. 7
- 1:38:551/2 out of 10. OK.
- 1:38:58Yeah, I can. I think that's actually
- 1:39:01interesting cuz it does kind of weed you in with it being
- 1:39:04something like that with how she is with him.
- 1:39:06Like she, it starts with her scrolling online and then she's
- 1:39:09really already like, enamored by this person.
- 1:39:12It's kind of like the beginning of Ingrid Goes West.
- 1:39:16Yeah, you know, where she's, like, really fascinated with
- 1:39:18social media and this person in particular and just wants to get
- 1:39:22closer to them and kind of dresses up, sneaks her way in.
- 1:39:25I think in that case she's like a stalker though.
- 1:39:28Yeah. And in this one, like she feels
- 1:39:30a connection to him because there is a connection.
- 1:39:32She just doesn't. Doesn't realize.
- 1:39:34Yeah, man, I never thought about that either.
- 1:39:36Yeah, this movie does. Like it's pretty deep with the
- 1:39:39things that has going. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:39:42It gets really fucking dark, yeah.
- 1:39:48I'm actually really glad that we're gonna watch a bunch of
- 1:39:50silly shit tonight. So we got Royal Rumble.
- 1:39:53Yeah, well, it was also really good to follow this up with
- 1:39:57Scary Movie 3. Like sounded like we did because
- 1:39:59we had to see George. This is a movie that just like,
- 1:40:02it sits with me for a while, you know, in a way that like, it's
- 1:40:06kind of like Midsummer, where like there's always like a
- 1:40:09period after watching it where I just feel like bummed.
- 1:40:12Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a bummer.
- 1:40:14It's a, it's a What's the thing? One fuck of a.
- 1:40:18Bummer. One fuck of a bummer.
- 1:40:19Yeah, Also Haley Joel Osment, this is the second time for us
- 1:40:22talking about a lot of these people because Aaliyah Shasha,
- 1:40:26she was in Green Room. Christian Slater from Heather's
- 1:40:29Haley Joel Osment. We talked about him in Tusk.
- 1:40:33Yeah, you're right. Yeah.
- 1:40:35So. Wow, surprising.
- 1:40:36Yeah, One day we'll talk about George whenever we get to Scary
- 1:40:40Movie 3I. Like how he's just George.
- 1:40:44Like he's never Simon Rex to. You.
- 1:40:47I don't know his real name. I do now, but I warned George
- 1:40:501st and that's what sticks. George is going to be very
- 1:40:53upset. George is getting upset.
- 1:40:57OK, OK. Any other reviews?
- 1:40:58No, we had word zombie chime in saying totally miss this in
- 1:41:02theaters. Now the question is if I should
- 1:41:04watch first or listen first. Well I'm already gonna tell him
- 1:41:08to watch first cuz if he's at this point in the episode, he
- 1:41:11listened first. Yeah, well, and also, if he even
- 1:41:14listens to my opening monologue, it gives us a lot of way.
- 1:41:18The trailer does too. Don't watch the trailer if you
- 1:41:21like are pulling it up on that's a prime Yeah, the trailer.
- 1:41:25Well, if you're at this point too, you've already had
- 1:41:27everything spoiled. But the last night, like it just
- 1:41:31opens with Channing Tatum going so everybody's dead and I'm
- 1:41:34like, what the fuck? Why would you open up that with
- 1:41:37that? OK, next week we're really gonna
- 1:41:43pick it up tonally. Are we?
- 1:41:46No, Tell them what you picked, Travis.
- 1:41:49Tell them what our movie is next week, Travis.
- 1:41:51I've got good news for you Jesse cuz next week is our Valentine's
- 1:41:55Day episode which is a good one. Which is why I was confused cuz
- 1:42:00y'all voted for Cherry Falls all over on the Patreon.
- 1:42:04Who you know are bubbies at the Patreon?
- 1:42:06Got to do the Valentine's Day pig.
- 1:42:07I was thinking what day we were recording.
- 1:42:09I wasn't thinking when it would release.
- 1:42:11Oh yeah, no, that'll that'll release on the 13th, one day
- 1:42:14before Valentine's. Day.
- 1:42:15I'm glad we get a slight break before, yeah, the sadness.
- 1:42:20We're we're going to weirdly consensual sex this time?
- 1:42:24Overly consensual in some ways. Yeah, it it, it's a, it's a,
- 1:42:29it's a weird movie. This is a movie until it came to
- 1:42:32shutter, like it was either last year or the year before.
- 1:42:35A part of me thought I had had like a dream of it in high
- 1:42:39school and it wasn't real. And then it came to shutter and
- 1:42:42I was like, oh, OK, no, Travis, we need to watch this because
- 1:42:44this is a real movie and it's weird.
- 1:42:46And he was like, it came. It'd be that weird.
- 1:42:48And then we watched it and he was like, what the fuck?
- 1:42:50It's it's, yeah. I'm not gonna ruin it for
- 1:42:52anybody that hasn't seen it yet, but it it's strange, but it's
- 1:42:56very fitting for a Valentine's Day movie, and that's what we're
- 1:42:58doing. Starring Brittany Murphy.
- 1:43:00Brittany Murphy, probably the one and the only time we'll talk
- 1:43:02about her on the show. I don't know if she's done other
- 1:43:05stuff, but she might have. I don't know if she's she's done
- 1:43:07plenty of stuff. I.
- 1:43:08Just thought she's. Done 1/4.
- 1:43:09Yeah. So yeah, be on logo for that.
- 1:43:13Is that still on shutter or is it OK?
- 1:43:15You will have to. It's very cheap.
- 1:43:18The Blu-ray is incredibly cheap. It's the Scream Factory Blu-ray,
- 1:43:21so it's like $10. Cherry Falls, yeah, you can
- 1:43:25watch it if you have an AMC Plus subscription or a file a
- 1:43:29subscription. So yeah, there we go.
- 1:43:30It is streaming there at least I just we don't have those so.
- 1:43:34We had AMC Plus for a very brief time so you could watch the last
- 1:43:39season of Better Call. Sauce.
- 1:43:40It didn't even fucking No I don't.
- 1:43:42I'm not even getting any of that.
- 1:43:44I will just say I subscribe to watch the finale in real time
- 1:43:48because I didn't want it spoiled and the stream fucked up and
- 1:43:51wouldn't let me watch it so I didn't get to watch it that.
- 1:43:53Night. I didn't realize that this is
- 1:43:54going to be a sensitive subject. For you, a wound.
- 1:43:57I'm sorry. I'm very sorry.
- 1:43:59I've since watched the ending of Barracal, so it's fantastic.
- 1:44:04OK, OK. All right, that's it.
- 1:44:06So we would like to shout out our patrons over on the Patreon.
- 1:44:13Yes, our babies. Yeah, Joe Freakatron.
- 1:44:16As is his name, Amber, Michael, Hor, Zombie, Tyler, Chad and
- 1:44:19Johnny. Yay.
- 1:44:21Thank you all so much for being supporters.
- 1:44:24Means so much to us. We use all of the Patreon funds
- 1:44:28to go into the show because we want to make it a better product
- 1:44:31and you guys allow us to do that.
- 1:44:33So thanks for doing that. If you can do that, and you can

- 1:44:44review on Spotify, you can do little comments on the
- 1:44:47individual. Episode.
- 1:44:48Yeah, that's fun. I like reading comments on other
- 1:44:51shows too. Yeah, that's fun.
- 1:44:53Listening. We they all get published.
- 1:44:55Even if you write something that's like stinky poo poo, like
- 1:44:58I'm gonna let that fly, you know?
- 1:44:59Yeah, if you want to, if you, if everybody that's listening to
- 1:45:02this wants to like leave a comment and just say poop juice.
- 1:45:05Give us a. We'll know what it means.
- 1:45:06Give. Us something poop related.
- 1:45:07Yeah, stinky poo. Poo, poop, juice, fart, SF
- 1:45:10poopy. Don't walk in on me pooping.
- 1:45:15Travis touches poop with his bare hands.
- 1:45:18Wow, yeah, we did some shit talk this episode for sure.
- 1:45:20So yeah, do that and I'll publish those comments on there.
- 1:45:26And yeah, just thanks everybody for being here.

- 1:46:40I can't talk about things that have happened because they
- 1:46:43haven't happened yet, but they will have happened by the time
- 1:46:46you listen to this. So it's just weird.
- 1:46:48Yeah, yeah. It's weird how that works
- 1:46:50sometimes. OK.
- 1:46:52OK. All right, I think it's time for
- 1:46:54us to go now all. Right, until next time.
- 1:46:56Bye.
