- 4:44Speaker 1: won two out of three at the College Baseball Series
- 4:50Speaker 1: tournament at Globe Life over the weekend. They took down
- 4:54Speaker 1: Arizona State nine to three, A and M now two
- 5:00Speaker 1: ten and one on the season. As I mentioned, they
- 5:04Speaker 1: will play tomorrow afternoon at four o'clock. We'll be on
- 5:11Speaker 1: with the broadcast at three forty five tomorrow. Aiden Simms
- 5:18Speaker 1: not quite as dominant, but not terrible four and two
- 5:21Speaker 1: thirds innings with three hits and two earned runs. The Aggies,
- 5:27Speaker 1: of course, got run rule by number one UCLA on
- 5:30Speaker 1: Saturday night. They opened the tournament with a run rule
- 5:35Speaker 1: game against Virginia Tech and a great outing by Shane

- 5:46Speaker 1: Brendan Lawson of Florida three games at shortstop started all

- 6:13Speaker 1: two doubles, three homer, seven RBIs, Pitcher of the Week
- 6:17Speaker 1: Josh Gunther of South Carolina and in the Freshman of
- 6:19Speaker 1: the Week Mason mccrane at Auburn. Several sources are reporting
- 6:27Speaker 1: that Steve Sarkesian at Texas has hired former Kentucky head
- 6:32Speaker 1: coach Mark Stoops as a special assistant. Let's see Kentucky
- 6:41Speaker 1: fired Stoops after thirteen years and a second straight losing campaign.
- 6:48Speaker 1: He was defensive backs coach at Florida, South Florida and
- 6:52Speaker 1: Wyoming before becoming the de coordinator at Houston. He was
- 6:57Speaker 1: a defensive backs coach at Miami, defensive coordinator at Arizona,
- 7:02Speaker 1: and then taking over Kentucky, where for the most part
- 7:06Speaker 1: he did an outstanding job and was very very close
- 7:11Speaker 1: to being named the head coach at Texas. A and
- 7:13Speaker 1: M sitting on the tarmac at Easterwood waiting to be
- 7:19Speaker 1: announced when a phone call told him I'm sorry, turn
- 7:23Speaker 1: around and go home. You are not the head coach
- 7:26Speaker 1: at Texas A and m Irony of Ironey's Now he's
- 7:29Speaker 1: at the University of Texas and Colorado. Junior quarterback Dominique
- 7:36Speaker 1: Ponder has died in a car crash at the age
- 7:39Speaker 1: of twenty three early yesterday morning in Boulder. He transferred
- 7:44Speaker 1: thereafter two seasons. Dion Sanders said Dominique is one of
- 7:50Speaker 1: my favorites because of his passion, his heart, and his
- 7:53Speaker 1: willingness to go beyond what was asked. He will certainly
- 7:57Speaker 1: be remembered missed in our thoughts and prayers. Okay, I'm
- 8:04Speaker 1: going to take a break. I will tell you that
- 8:09Speaker 1: as early as this week, could be Thursday, I'm going

- 8:17Speaker 1: book called Moses and the Doctor Two Men, One Championship
- 8:23Speaker 1: and the Birth of Modern Basketball. I really like this book.
- 8:27Speaker 1: I'll be visiting with Luke Epplin. Actor Rob Morrow, who
- 8:33Speaker 1: first came to the public's notice in a TV show
- 8:39Speaker 1: years ago called Northern Exposure. He was in another successful
- 8:45Speaker 1: TV show called Numbers. He's been in lots of successful
- 8:50Speaker 1: TV shows and movies. He is in an eight part
- 8:55Speaker 1: series at streaming right now called The Gray. It's about
- 8:58Speaker 1: the Civil War. Rob Morrow is going to join us
- 9:01Speaker 1: at some point here in the next week or so.
- 9:05Speaker 1: All right, so we'll take a break. We're going to
- 9:08Speaker 1: come back. We're going to hear from Texas coach Sean Miller.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Then we're going to forget about that. We're going to

- 9:53Speaker 1: Having Kanty and Michelle are unsportsman life.
- 9:56Speaker 4: The people that have their pets in strollers.
- 10:00Speaker 5: Your pet is not the same thing as my baby
- 10:04Speaker 5: in my scroller. Just because you have what you think
- 10:07Speaker 5: is a cute dog. It should not be treated the
- 10:09Speaker 5: same as my baby and the stroller. I have a
- 10:12Speaker 5: human baby, you have a pet baby. Those are not
- 10:14Speaker 5: the same.
- 10:15Speaker 6: I'm sorry, unsportsman like listen in weekday mornings from five
- 10:19Speaker 6: to eight of issoone eleven and ninety three point seven FM.
- 10:31Speaker 7: You say you're not from Texas. Man, let'st if I
- 10:36Speaker 7: couldn't tell you think you pull your foods made? Will
- 10:43Speaker 7: your hat? So will support my laughter? As I so
- 10:51Speaker 7: do understand even Moses God excited when it is sold.
- 11:01Speaker 8: That's right.
- 11:02Speaker 4: You'll not Partxas. That's right.
- 11:04Speaker 9: You're not Partexas.
- 11:06Speaker 8: That's right.
- 11:06Speaker 1: You're not Pexas, Texas the great low loved Texas from
- 11:12Speaker 1: Texas A and M University. That's right, you're not from Texas.
- 11:15Speaker 1: It is Texas Independence Day and we're gonna be playing
- 11:19Speaker 1: Texas music all afternoon because we can, and it's my show.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Saturday at at Ried Arena, the mostly filled arena saw
- 11:33Speaker 1: the Aggies fall to the Long Words seventy six to seventy.
- 11:38Speaker 1: We're gonna hear a little bit postgame from Texas coach
- 11:43Speaker 1: Sean Miller.
- 11:47Speaker 10: You know, first thing is first thing. I would just
- 11:49Speaker 10: say it was a great victory by our team here today,
- 11:52Speaker 10: and one of the reasons is we're playing against a
- 11:55Speaker 10: very good team who's been good all season long, on
- 11:59Speaker 10: their home court in front of an incredible crowd. So
- 12:02Speaker 10: throw all those factors in, uh, you really have to
- 12:06Speaker 10: rise to the challenge, and our group did. There's a
- 12:09Speaker 10: lot of different players on our team I can credit.
- 12:12Speaker 10: I'll start with Jordan Pope. I thought handling the ball
- 12:16Speaker 10: getting open. It's not an easy assignment for a guard
- 12:21Speaker 10: to play against A and M because of their style,
- 12:23Speaker 10: and I thought Jordan really from start to finish, played
- 12:27Speaker 10: like a really good senior point guard.
- 12:29Speaker 4: Obviously, Tremon Mark he played lights out.
- 12:33Speaker 10: It was one of his best games of the year,
- 12:35Speaker 10: and when he gets gone, you know, he's really a
- 12:38Speaker 10: terrific offensive player. But the twenty three points from Tremont,
- 12:42Speaker 10: I thought Pope being a steadying force from start to finish,
- 12:46Speaker 10: and then just overall, you know, that was one of
- 12:49Speaker 10: our best defensive performances of the season.
- 12:52Speaker 4: We were just we were on it.
- 12:54Speaker 10: We limited their three point shooting, and we had a
- 12:57Speaker 10: lot of guys, you know, playing with a lot of
- 12:59Speaker 10: energy in effort you're gonna ask me about it, you
- 13:03Speaker 10: know the start, I thought at the beginning, you know,
- 13:05Speaker 10: getting a foul on the jump ball, that's a tough,
- 13:08Speaker 10: tough one, and then getting a second foul within thirty seconds.
- 13:12Speaker 10: I don't know if I've seen either of those, but
- 13:14Speaker 10: you know, looking at it, he probably fouled in both.
- 13:16Speaker 10: And again that's up to us to teach Modest the
- 13:19Speaker 10: value of being present and ready and being smart. So
- 13:24Speaker 10: but we had to play through some crazy fouls in
- 13:26Speaker 10: the first half, and I thought, again, credit are our
- 13:29Speaker 10: team from being able to get to halftime without playing
- 13:33Speaker 10: really Daylen or Modest like we usually do. That that's
- 13:37Speaker 10: not easy, especially on the road.
- 13:40Speaker 9: Question, Zach Sean, you mentioned the defense be held them
- 13:44Speaker 9: eighteen points below their average.
- 13:46Speaker 11: I know you said the other day the guys are.
- 13:48Speaker 9: Going to be the best defense that has to see
- 13:50Speaker 9: that there was a possible Do you feel.
- 13:51Speaker 12: Like you all are training the corner in that regard at.
- 13:53Speaker 11: The right time?
- 13:54Speaker 10: I hope, so, you know, I don't even I wouldn't
- 13:57Speaker 10: give you the answer yes, even if I wanted to,
- 13:59Speaker 10: because man, we play again on Wednesday, and we play
- 14:02Speaker 10: again on Saturday.
- 14:03Speaker 4: You know, we've been a very good offensive team.
- 14:06Speaker 10: We've our offense has carried us and there are times
- 14:09Speaker 10: on our defense has certainly let us down. But we
- 14:12Speaker 10: all have the opportunity late in the season to keep
- 14:15Speaker 10: keep practicing, to keep playing and get better. And I
- 14:19Speaker 10: thought we took a good step forward defensively today.
- 14:23Speaker 8: Sean, you know you've challenged Jordan Pope throughout the season.
- 14:25Speaker 11: I'll just ask you, you know, platform.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Just text us when this game Jordan Pope doesn't have night.
- 14:31Speaker 13: No.
- 14:31Speaker 10: One of the things that I told the team after
- 14:33Speaker 10: the game is there's no player on our team that
- 14:36Speaker 10: I've coached harder than Jordan Pope. I coached him hard
- 14:39Speaker 10: before the season began. I'm coaching him because I've always felt,
- 14:44Speaker 10: because of his unique skill set and his experience, that
- 14:48Speaker 10: he had another level in him, had a higher ceiling
- 14:51Speaker 10: than sometimes he had shown. And I think everybody really
- 14:54Speaker 10: saw that today. It wasn't just his shot making. It
- 14:58Speaker 10: was getting open, not wearing, handling the ball against pressure,
- 15:02Speaker 10: and really doing a good job defensively, being poised throughout.
- 15:06Speaker 4: Uh, he did all.
- 15:07Speaker 10: He did it all, and I thought he looked like
- 15:09Speaker 10: a terrific point guard today. And and that's what it
- 15:13Speaker 10: takes and when you get to the end, you need
- 15:15Speaker 10: guys like him to play well.
- 15:16Speaker 7: And he did the back clip with Yeah, Shauna, you
- 15:21Speaker 7: mentioned offense.
- 15:22Speaker 11: Can it can be so unique?
- 15:24Speaker 14: Does it the cause of that?
- 15:25Speaker 15: Does it help even more so now that you know
- 15:28Speaker 15: you already said, you already saw.
- 15:29Speaker 14: The once in conference, Mike, does does that help the
- 15:32Speaker 14: second time around?
- 15:32Speaker 11: And us?
- 15:33Speaker 16: So? Do you think some of that was a player?
- 15:35Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 15:36Speaker 10: I think every time all teams that played each other
- 15:38Speaker 10: more than once, you have that more that that, that familiarity,
- 15:42Speaker 10: you got a sense of the speed and size of
- 15:44Speaker 10: the game. Look texting them as a very good team.
- 15:49Speaker 10: What I love about their team is they have the
- 15:51Speaker 10: ability to play full court pressure. Uh, they have the
- 15:54Speaker 10: ability to play zone. They are disruptive, they have a
- 15:57Speaker 10: deep bench. But I also like the fact, you know,
- 16:00Speaker 10: just meet preparing for them. They're good on offense, they
- 16:04Speaker 10: share the ball, they play unselfish, they utilize the three
- 16:07Speaker 10: point shot. So we have a lot of respect for them,
- 16:10Speaker 10: and that respect helped us win today. We came into
- 16:13Speaker 10: the game knowing that we were going to have to
- 16:15Speaker 10: really play well to win.
- 16:17Speaker 17: I love Kurk, what's going through your mind when Dylan
- 16:22Speaker 17: and Malas get two fouls and if you talk about
- 16:25Speaker 17: juggling their minutes in the first half to at least
- 16:28Speaker 17: they level with them.
- 16:30Speaker 10: Yeah, I think what goes through my mind in that
- 16:32Speaker 10: situation is, you know, I can't join them and lose
- 16:34Speaker 10: my mind and you know, next thing you know, you're
- 16:36Speaker 10: at halftime and you're unraveled. Because in situations like that, oftentimes.
- 16:41Speaker 4: That's what happens.
- 16:43Speaker 10: So I just tried to do the very best that
- 16:45Speaker 10: I could and our staff in our team to play
- 16:48Speaker 10: through it and get to halftime. I felt if we
- 16:51Speaker 10: could get to halftime, then we could maybe resurrect who
- 16:55Speaker 10: we are and what we do in the second half.
- 16:58Speaker 10: But yeah, and Madus and Dalen in the second half,
- 17:03Speaker 10: we're able to play all the way to the end,
- 17:04Speaker 10: which is a credit to them as well.
- 17:07Speaker 4: Right right, So, and.
- 17:08Speaker 11: Sean, I no secret about your old guys. This watch
- 17:12Speaker 11: take and this is it for them and do they
- 17:13Speaker 11: want to get in the tournament or not?
- 17:16Speaker 5: How big was it for those three guys, including Kendall
- 17:19Speaker 5: Weaver to do what.
- 17:21Speaker 18: They did on a night when Dala didn't have big numbers.
- 17:25Speaker 10: Yeah, with Kendall, you can't always look at the statuet
- 17:28Speaker 10: or the scoreboard and assess his value. He made two
- 17:32Speaker 10: or three hustle plays that you know, if you're watching
- 17:35Speaker 10: the game, you're.
- 17:35Speaker 4: Like, wow, who is that guy?
- 17:37Speaker 10: You know he jumps out of the gym, or he
- 17:39Speaker 10: like stops and cuts. He has such a unique way
- 17:42Speaker 10: of playing the game. But one thing that you never
- 17:45Speaker 10: have to question about Kendell Weaver is his motor, his
- 17:49Speaker 10: unselfish will, and his energy and effort level. He always
- 17:54Speaker 10: has those three things. And you know, today I think
- 17:57Speaker 10: you could tell it was an important game for him.
- 18:00Speaker 10: And you're right, seniors guys who can't play college basketball again. Man,
- 18:06Speaker 10: at this time of year, you see those guys rise.
- 18:09Speaker 10: And if you evaluate our game today, Kendall Weaver, Jordan
- 18:13Speaker 10: Pope and Tamar and Mark were very instrumental on why
- 18:16Speaker 10: we were able to.
- 18:16Speaker 11: Win Yer Tree.
- 18:18Speaker 14: Last one was back exactly what showing up to term
- 18:20Speaker 14: about Nick Cody in the first half when mosc gotta
- 18:22Speaker 14: fell trouble.
- 18:23Speaker 4: He had three blocks in the first half and played.
- 18:25Speaker 11: Some tough defense and send that that's sequence.
- 18:27Speaker 14: In the second half when meets the separation, he got
- 18:29Speaker 14: the three in the block at the other Endes those
- 18:32Speaker 14: two guys.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Considering how this point of you were in the pitch.
- 18:34Speaker 10: The first time you playing, I thought those guys did
- 18:37Speaker 10: a good job. You know, we called on Nick in
- 18:39Speaker 10: a unique way when we asked him to a lot.
- 18:41Speaker 10: I thought he was actually gassed at one point in
- 18:43Speaker 10: the first half because he's not used to playing that
- 18:46Speaker 10: many minutes.
- 18:47Speaker 4: But you're right three blocks.
- 18:49Speaker 10: I thought he had a couple of jump books where
- 18:50Speaker 10: he missed it, but it was a good shot. And uh,
- 18:53Speaker 10: he's gotten better the last couple of weeks because we've
- 18:55Speaker 10: given him more of an opportunity. I feel like he's
- 18:58Speaker 10: moving in the right direction. But you're right about sim
- 19:01Speaker 10: big three point shot didn't play as much as he
- 19:04Speaker 10: usually does, simply because if you look at it, it's
- 19:07Speaker 10: tough to go without Tremond and Jordan because of how
- 19:10Speaker 10: well they were playing. So that's that's the reason. But
- 19:13Speaker 10: sim's really important as well.
- 19:15Speaker 4: Every coach in.
- 19:16Speaker 10: SEC will tell you you can't do it with just
- 19:18Speaker 10: your starters. You need guys coming in off the bench
- 19:21Speaker 10: to make key plays.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Thomas Sean with the considering the venue, the NCAA tournament stakes,
- 19:28Speaker 1: and the manner of the win with the defense is
- 19:30Speaker 1: this your biggest win.
- 19:31Speaker 4: That's the long rust.
- 19:33Speaker 10: You know, that's really up to you guys to be
- 19:35Speaker 10: able to stamp that or not. I would tell you
- 19:36Speaker 10: that it's one of them. I think anytime that you
- 19:39Speaker 10: can go on the road in this league, deeper and
- 19:42Speaker 10: late in the season even more so, you have to
- 19:45Speaker 10: feel really good about accomplishing it, simply because it's so
- 19:48Speaker 10: difficult to do.
- 19:51Speaker 19: The very coach kind of the bounce off that you
- 19:54Speaker 19: know your last two games didn't go the way you wanted,
- 19:56Speaker 19: so getting this win against an arch River like A
- 19:58Speaker 19: and M. I saw the guys on the side online
- 20:00Speaker 19: having a lot of fun just to kind of raise
- 20:02Speaker 19: their confidence going into the finals.
- 20:04Speaker 10: You know, I would answer your question almost opposite that
- 20:07Speaker 10: because if you followed us, not that we're the greatest
- 20:10Speaker 10: team in the world, but just when you think we
- 20:14Speaker 10: hit that losing pocket where uh oh, they're gonna lose
- 20:18Speaker 10: four in a row, six in row, five in a row,
- 20:20Speaker 10: we have found the way out of that. And we've
- 20:23Speaker 10: really done that from late November, and I think it
- 20:27Speaker 10: talks about the resiliency of the group, the guys continuing
- 20:32Speaker 10: to work between games, which is not easy, and knowing
- 20:35Speaker 10: that They're playing for a lot, both individually and collectively.
- 20:39Speaker 10: So tonight is another example of our team that you know,
- 20:42Speaker 10: uh oh, they're gonna lose two three in row and
- 20:45Speaker 10: then they go to Arkansas next Wow. Tough stretch, but
- 20:48Speaker 10: you know, we found a way to be able to
- 20:49Speaker 10: get back on the winning side of the ledger. And
- 20:51Speaker 10: I think that's the older players on our team and
- 20:54Speaker 10: our guys. You have to give them credit. In terms
- 20:57Speaker 10: of the resiliency of our team.
- 20:59Speaker 1: That's the Sean Miller and that's been a really inconsistent
- 21:03Speaker 1: up and down team. They have seemed to play their
- 21:07Speaker 1: best against the better teams. They have losses to Mississippi State,
- 21:13Speaker 1: they loss at Georgia. Not that Georgia is a bad team,
- 21:15Speaker 1: They're going to be in the tournament, but at a
- 21:18Speaker 1: time where Georgia wasn't doing great. They've been hard to
- 21:23Speaker 1: figure out. They came in here and got to win.
- 21:26Speaker 1: I did not expect that. I don't think Bucky expected
- 21:30Speaker 1: it or the players expected it. They have put more
- 21:34Speaker 1: pressure on A and M to go out and win
- 21:37Speaker 1: tomorrow night. This afternoon, Pop Isaac's coming off what Bucky
- 21:42Speaker 1: has called by far, his best game of the year.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Visited with reporters.
- 21:50Speaker 20: What do you'll have to get back on track and
- 21:53Speaker 20: get back on the uncommon maybe you'll get a win,
- 21:55Speaker 20: they can help you issuablely tournament hopes.
- 21:58Speaker 11: I mean, yeah, we know with our team there's not a.
- 22:02Speaker 18: Not a lot of room for era, just with with
- 22:05Speaker 18: with our size, with losing Mackenzie, I just feel like
- 22:08Speaker 18: we're not doing the little things, you know, to the
- 22:10Speaker 18: best of our abilities right now.
- 22:12Speaker 9: Uh.
- 22:12Speaker 11: Coach feels the same way.
- 22:13Speaker 18: It's it's not like we're super far off, but we
- 22:16Speaker 18: have to be able to control the things that we
- 22:18Speaker 18: can control on the court, all the little.
- 22:20Speaker 11: Things we have to be.
- 22:21Speaker 18: Nobody's gonna be perfect, but we have to be really
- 22:23Speaker 18: good at them. We know we got a really good
- 22:26Speaker 18: opponent coming in Kentucky, and we know, you know, this
- 22:28Speaker 18: is a must win game for us.
- 22:29Speaker 11: We gotta have us win.
- 22:31Speaker 18: So, you know, I like our team's mindset, and you know,
- 22:34Speaker 18: we watched the film and we're gonna correct the things
- 22:36Speaker 18: we gotta do to win the next game.
- 22:38Speaker 9: Buck He's talked about the importance of guard player this
- 22:40Speaker 9: time of year, just with this being a really guard
- 22:43Speaker 9: heavy team. Just what's the conversation been like among y'all's
- 22:46Speaker 9: group to try and get more production down the line.
- 22:50Speaker 18: Yeah, I mean, just to just to be confident. Everybody
- 22:52Speaker 18: needs to be confident be themselves. I think all of
- 22:57Speaker 18: us have had really good spurts throughout the year, but
- 22:59Speaker 18: I don't know if we've all put it together so
- 23:00Speaker 18: much at the same time.
- 23:01Speaker 11: And we know, you know, we.
- 23:02Speaker 18: Got we gotta start putting it together if we want
- 23:04Speaker 18: to you know, win and win and keep playing in March.
- 23:07Speaker 18: So I mean, I think we just got to have
- 23:09Speaker 18: everybody in the right mindset and confident in their games,
- 23:11Speaker 18: and you know, like Bucky says, we got to win
- 23:13Speaker 18: our matchups.
- 23:14Speaker 9: So you had a strong finish to the game on Saturday.
- 23:18Speaker 9: I'm just curious if there's anything you can take from
- 23:20Speaker 9: kind of that maybe last five minutes stretch that you
- 23:22Speaker 9: felt like we're good things that you did that you
- 23:25Speaker 9: can try.
- 23:25Speaker 11: And build along.
- 23:26Speaker 18: I mean, yeah, I think the last five minutes just
- 23:28Speaker 18: contributed to the way I was guarded throughout the game.
- 23:31Speaker 18: I think Bucky would tell you the same thing, Like
- 23:33Speaker 18: I probably wasn't scoring in the first half.
- 23:34Speaker 11: But you know, I played hard.
- 23:36Speaker 18: I played the I mean probably I play hard all
- 23:38Speaker 18: the time, but it's probably the best I've just guarded
- 23:40Speaker 18: all year, and Bucky told me that, So probably just
- 23:44Speaker 18: you know, continuing to do that side and everything could
- 23:46Speaker 18: take care of itself. I mean, this team, you know,
- 23:48Speaker 18: we have so many weapons on offense, I don't I mean,
- 23:51Speaker 18: I just kind of let the game come to.
- 23:52Speaker 11: Me, just as everybody else does.
- 23:54Speaker 18: But I mean, we just got to be able to
- 23:56Speaker 18: control the things we could control as far as winning
- 23:58Speaker 18: our matchup, especially on the defensive end.
- 24:01Speaker 9: So if there was one little thing you feel like
- 24:03Speaker 9: you guys could try and improve that can make a
- 24:05Speaker 9: big difference, what do you think that be it?
- 24:07Speaker 12: Right now?
- 24:10Speaker 18: I mean I would just say obviously, like i've I mean,
- 24:14Speaker 18: we got to stop the silly fouls that we've been having.
- 24:17Speaker 18: We gotta we gotta stop having to go back to
- 24:19Speaker 18: Day one things that we went over as far as
- 24:21Speaker 18: our press, you know, and really just I mean, like
- 24:27Speaker 18: I know I've said it already, but like we we
- 24:29Speaker 18: lost our matchups at the end of that game. Those
- 24:32Speaker 18: dudes made some tough one on one shots, and it's
- 24:35Speaker 18: a player's game at the end of the year. So
- 24:37Speaker 18: I mean, we gotta win those matchups and be able
- 24:39Speaker 18: to stay in our ground and move our feet in
- 24:40Speaker 18: those moments.
- 24:41Speaker 9: So has practiced stelped a little different the last.
- 24:43Speaker 11: Couple of days. I wouldn't necessarily necessarily say different. I
- 24:47Speaker 11: think if you make.
- 24:49Speaker 18: Things different, it kind of makes everybody overthink things.
- 24:52Speaker 11: But I think obviously.
- 24:53Speaker 18: Our pro our approach, as far as our mindset, has
- 24:56Speaker 18: been a little different because we know, you know, it's
- 24:59Speaker 18: we don't have, you know, much room for error anymore.
- 25:01Speaker 18: So I think the guys are in a good headspace,
- 25:03Speaker 18: get ready to go in this game tomorrow.
- 25:06Speaker 9: What excite you about the last week before going to Nashield.
- 25:10Speaker 18: Uh, we got an opportunity to go get two wins
- 25:12Speaker 18: and and and keep building our case for the tournament.
- 25:15Speaker 18: We know if we get these two wins, we'll be
- 25:16Speaker 18: out eleven and seven and it'll be really hard to
- 25:18Speaker 18: keep us out the tournament. So you know that that's
- 25:21Speaker 18: I mean, that's that's like the best feeling in the
- 25:23Speaker 18: world is when you could control your own destiny and
- 25:25Speaker 18: nobody else controls it for you. So obviously we've had
- 25:27Speaker 18: some slip ups with the four losses in a row
- 25:30Speaker 18: and the back to back losses just now, but we still,
- 25:32Speaker 18: you know, at the start we had. We still control
- 25:34Speaker 18: our own destiny to accomplish the things that we want
- 25:36Speaker 18: to accomplish.
- 25:37Speaker 9: If you're on that committee, what do you want them
- 25:40Speaker 9: to know about the same m team?
- 25:42Speaker 18: No team is probably gonna want to play us in
- 25:44Speaker 18: the first round. The way we guard our pressure. You know,
- 25:49Speaker 18: we're really good. We play really hard. I think we play,
- 25:52Speaker 18: you know, as hard as any team in the country.
- 25:55Speaker 18: You know, we've had some you know, really close losses
- 25:57Speaker 18: against teams that'll be you know, seated really high in tournament,
- 26:00Speaker 18: in games that we probably should have won.
- 26:03Speaker 11: I think, you know, it's no doubt about it. We're
- 26:05Speaker 11: nta tournament team.
- 26:06Speaker 9: So what do you know about this Kentucky team you're here?
- 26:10Speaker 18: Yeah, I mean they're really good preseason Player of the
- 26:13Speaker 18: Year and they'll take always having a really good year. Obviously,
- 26:18Speaker 18: Aberdeen and Colin Chandler are really good shooters. Colin Chandler's
- 26:21Speaker 18: probably been shooting the best in the SEC, you know,
- 26:24Speaker 18: his percentages and stuff like that. And I've known him,
- 26:26Speaker 18: you know a little bit since high school and stuff.
- 26:27Speaker 18: He's always been a really good player. So, and they
- 26:30Speaker 18: got a really good team. They run a lot of actions.
- 26:33Speaker 18: You know, and I knew that just from playing you know,
- 26:34Speaker 18: Mark Pope at his b YU day, So, you know,
- 26:37Speaker 18: a really good offensive team and we know we got
- 26:40Speaker 18: to be at our best.
- 26:40Speaker 11: To come in here and get a win tomorrow.
- 26:44Speaker 9: Fuck you said last week too, just that he really
- 26:46Speaker 9: challenged you guys to walk in for one week, even
- 26:50Speaker 9: though you all lost on Saturday. He felt like the
- 26:52Speaker 9: buy in and the lock in nature has been there.
- 26:55Speaker 11: Yeah, for sure. I think we had a really good
- 26:56Speaker 11: practice today.
- 26:57Speaker 18: It was really competitive, and I think guys are all,
- 27:00Speaker 18: you know, the same goals on everybody's mind.
- 27:03Speaker 11: You know, we know we got to, you know.
- 27:04Speaker 18: Win these next two games if just so you know,
- 27:07Speaker 18: we could accomplish what everybody wants to accomplish. A lot
- 27:09Speaker 18: of guys on this team hasn't made the NCAA tournament before.
- 27:12Speaker 18: Only a few of us have, like guys like me, Ryland,
- 27:16Speaker 18: you know, Zach fed Federco. You know, we want to
- 27:18Speaker 18: We want to be able to lock in and just
- 27:21Speaker 18: help these guys get get to somewhere where they haven't
- 27:23Speaker 18: been before.
- 27:24Speaker 4: So how hard is it or not hard?
- 27:27Speaker 9: Is it?
- 27:27Speaker 14: Sort of trying to balance the mental aspect of the
- 27:30Speaker 14: urgency of a must win versus like trying not to.
- 27:34Speaker 14: Let's psych yourselves out.
- 27:36Speaker 18: Yeah, I mean I think if you psych yourself out
- 27:38Speaker 18: like it caused a lot of.
- 27:39Speaker 11: Overthinking, you know what I mean.
- 27:41Speaker 18: I think, you know, just staying even kill, not getting
- 27:44Speaker 18: too high and not getting too low. And I think
- 27:46Speaker 18: this group has done a really good job of that.
- 27:48Speaker 18: I mean, it's not the end of the world, you
- 27:50Speaker 18: know when we when we lose these games, but we know,
- 27:53Speaker 18: you know, it's obviously some urgency. But I think it's
- 27:56Speaker 18: just if you if you get too high or too low,
- 28:00Speaker 18: it's not healthy, you know what I mean. So I
- 28:03Speaker 18: think the fact that this group has been doing a
- 28:05Speaker 18: good job of just saying even kill, I think it's
- 28:08Speaker 18: gonna really benefit us going into this last week.
- 28:11Speaker 1: It's Pop Isaacs and his team is favored by a
- 28:17Speaker 1: point and a half as of right now Tomorrow night
- 28:21Speaker 1: against Kentucky. And you remember some of those battles that
- 28:28Speaker 1: Billy Kennedy and Cal had, especially when they one the
- 28:34Speaker 1: regular season in twenty sixteen, lost in the tournament finals barely.
- 28:42Speaker 1: There were some really good games here and there. Over time,
- 28:48Speaker 1: there have been some really close games. I think tomorrow
- 28:51Speaker 1: night will be one of those really close games. I
- 28:54Speaker 1: don't think there's a lot to pick. I mean, Kentucky
- 28:57Speaker 1: has Kentucky talent, but they're wildly and assistant. They're like
- 29:01Speaker 1: Missouri honestly, they can come in and play really, really well,
- 29:07Speaker 1: and you'll go whisest team lost, you know, six games
- 29:12Speaker 1: or seven games. They're ten and six right now coming in.
- 29:16Speaker 1: They're four and four away from home. I mean, that's
- 29:19Speaker 1: not bad. You go five hundred away from home, that's
- 29:21Speaker 1: not bad. But they've lost some games. I leeves scratching
- 29:25Speaker 1: their head as well. Here for Michael Early in a minute,

- 34:14Speaker 1: win yesterday and the week kid.
- 34:17Speaker 20: Coach, little response from your team after the last night,
- 34:19Speaker 20: would you like from him today?
- 34:21Speaker 27: Yeah, you know, just speaking of last night, Like coaches,
- 34:24Speaker 27: you gotta look back after the game and you just
- 34:27Speaker 27: I was really just upset with the fact we got
- 34:29Speaker 27: run rolling right, and I think looking back, we did
- 34:31Speaker 27: some thanks better than I thought. But at the same time,
- 34:34Speaker 27: a response and the fact that we did get our butts kicked.
- 34:36Speaker 8: And did an awesome job. Awesome job control the.
- 34:39Speaker 27: Strike zone through strikes, got runners that we need to
- 34:42Speaker 27: get him in. You saw some guys hit some balls
- 34:44Speaker 27: off the end of the bat, just moving the ball,
- 34:46Speaker 27: and they did a great job. And I know it's
- 34:49Speaker 27: three different teams, but you gotta win series, right.
- 34:52Speaker 8: We wanted to win the tournament. We didn't.
- 34:54Speaker 27: We gotta get used stat fack, especially in play in
- 34:55Speaker 27: our league, it's tough to get one of those first two.
- 34:58Speaker 27: When you do, you gotta finish the job on and
- 35:00Speaker 27: they did that.
- 35:00Speaker 8: So it's a it was a good weekend.
- 35:03Speaker 1: Our GUARDI really stepped up and kind of things. What
- 35:05Speaker 1: if you liked about him being kind of the first
- 35:08Speaker 1: guys from the pen.
- 35:09Speaker 27: Yeah, he's been he's been really impressive. He's done a
- 35:11Speaker 27: lot of strikes. He's got good stuff. Is a unique
- 35:13Speaker 27: look to the opposing hitter, especially coming in after sim So.
- 35:17Speaker 8: He's doing his job. Man, we hand him the ball.
- 35:18Speaker 8: We feel comfortable doing it. Have you ever seen a
- 35:20Speaker 8: ball to win to a pitcher shirt before?
- 35:22Speaker 4: No?
- 35:23Speaker 27: I did not. I did not, but I know if
- 35:25Speaker 27: hits the Empire goes in a shirt automatic hit.
- 35:28Speaker 8: So I've not seen it though I've only heard about it.
- 35:31Speaker 10: Similarly to Richard's question, you guys had a couple of
- 35:33Speaker 10: mersity spots this year that you've really is going your Well,
- 35:36Speaker 10: what about your team in love?
- 35:37Speaker 27: You guys should do so, you know good in those
- 35:39Speaker 27: next gold It's all about those guys, man, those guys
- 35:41Speaker 27: in the locker, and they really care. Uh, no one
- 35:43Speaker 27: ever wants to come out and way bad. No one
- 35:44Speaker 27: ever wants to lose, you know, but anything can happen,
- 35:47Speaker 27: and your response is what the outcome is. And these
- 35:50Speaker 27: guys been tested a few times in games, but I've
- 35:53Speaker 27: seen it all fall sorry, all fall off spring in
- 35:55Speaker 27: the practice, so I was not surprised at all.
- 35:59Speaker 8: I knew they were gonna come up day and play
- 36:00Speaker 8: good baseball.
- 36:01Speaker 15: Sticking with the response every time they score you guys
- 36:03Speaker 15: answer back, How just important is that in a flow
- 36:06Speaker 15: of a game like this?
- 36:07Speaker 27: Yeah, I think the biggest part with that is, like
- 36:09Speaker 27: you're not trying to write, you just continue to take
- 36:11Speaker 27: your at bats and your pitches, and that if you
- 36:14Speaker 27: get a pitch of hit, you hit a strike.
- 36:15Speaker 8: If they based on balls or hit you, you keep
- 36:17Speaker 8: putting the pressure on.
- 36:18Speaker 27: So I think the biggest saying scoring position or response
- 36:22Speaker 27: to any runs is just play your game, get your pitch.
- 36:25Speaker 27: If you don't pass it to the next.
- 36:26Speaker 28: Guy you're talking about, you want to move up with
- 36:28Speaker 28: what happened lest how big was it right up the
- 36:30Speaker 28: bat for Kadsurrell, the kind of sitting come yeah for
- 36:33Speaker 28: him individually to see that point.
- 36:35Speaker 27: For sure too in a two strike count he hits
- 36:37Speaker 27: one the other way and when he moves it the
- 36:38Speaker 27: other way.
- 36:39Speaker 8: You can sit up hit it out of the park.
- 36:40Speaker 27: So yeah, getting on the board early, you know, that's
- 36:43Speaker 27: why we got in there in the two hole.
- 36:44Speaker 8: We want to up as soon as possible, and he
- 36:47Speaker 8: crossed that ball. It's great to.
- 36:48Speaker 1: See sig Test weekend. You learn anything new about your
- 36:50Speaker 1: team coming out of these three games.
- 36:53Speaker 8: Yeah, I did.
- 36:54Speaker 27: You know, we traveled well, all the guys. You know,
- 36:56Speaker 27: it's a that's a whole new thing. First, Right, we've
- 36:58Speaker 27: been at home and I really liked it.
- 37:00Speaker 8: Like even last night, like I left with you know,
- 37:04Speaker 8: defeated for a minute. It had some confidence because they
- 37:06Speaker 8: saw what it takes.
- 37:07Speaker 27: They know they're that good, especially when you get some
- 37:09Speaker 27: guys back off the shelf.
- 37:11Speaker 8: We're a really good baseball team. We just got to
- 37:12Speaker 8: continue to play well.
- 37:13Speaker 10: Similarly to that question, how valuable it is, like a
- 37:16Speaker 10: series like this, we can't.
- 37:18Speaker 8: Really emulate the issues team played. When it cranks up companies,
- 37:20Speaker 8: it's huge.
- 37:21Speaker 11: It's huge.
- 37:21Speaker 27: You crank up competition, you get out of your comfort zone.
- 37:25Speaker 8: I mean we're we're hitting at d bat in the morning,
- 37:27Speaker 8: you know what I mean.
- 37:28Speaker 27: Then we're coming here hitting the cage, taking a quick
- 37:30Speaker 27: in and out. So yeah, I mean, all that stuff
- 37:32Speaker 27: throws a challenge at your team and see how they
- 37:35Speaker 27: handle it.
- 37:36Speaker 8: Then you get to the baseball part. We got it.
- 37:38Speaker 8: You know, we got tests a little bit in game two.
- 37:40Speaker 27: We responded, so all kinds of positives would take out
- 37:42Speaker 27: of the weekend, a lot.
- 37:43Speaker 8: Of stuff to work off.
- 37:45Speaker 27: Right, We're never gonna celebrate two out of three when
- 37:46Speaker 27: we get run off the field one of them.
- 37:48Speaker 8: But a lot of good stuff come out this weekend
- 37:51Speaker 8: to see it go due good.
- 37:54Speaker 18: That was listening Gordon doing great, Leo was it Clisi
- 37:57Speaker 18: caught the the ball that went in at the Truths
- 38:00Speaker 18: the Empire?
- 38:01Speaker 8: Get it right away, I'm hired, got it.
- 38:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm big.
- 38:06Speaker 3: I'll forget early at that.
- 38:07Speaker 12: But the guys are.
- 38:10Speaker 27: Just in their careers. I mean, they're huge because those
- 38:14Speaker 27: guys are gonna play. I mean, by all accounts, are
- 38:15Speaker 27: gonna play every day. So getting them out there and
- 38:19Speaker 27: you know, they're gonna be hopefully staples of this program
- 38:22Speaker 27: in the future, but we needed to be really good now,
- 38:24Speaker 27: so getting them out.
- 38:25Speaker 1: There's Hugest, that's Michael Early after the series up in
- 38:30Speaker 1: Arlington at Globe Life and again tomorrow afternoon at four
- 38:34Speaker 1: o'clock hosting Incarnate. Ward Oakland is here. Now you'll have
- 38:41Speaker 1: to look up Oakland. They're from Michigan, they're not from California.
- 38:45Speaker 1: They're here Friday, Saturday, Sunday five forty five. Pregame here
- 38:50Speaker 1: Friday night, six o'clock here on the Zone on Friday.
- 38:55Speaker 1: So there you go all right, We're gonna take a break,
- 38:58Speaker 1: We're gonna come back. We're gonna hear from Bucky getting

- 40:12Speaker 6: Blending Southern culture with college football are awesome music, sport, commentary,
- 40:17Speaker 6: and more. It's smurty in McGee, Murdy and McGee Saturday
- 40:21Speaker 6: mornings from sixty nine on the eleven fifty AM and
- 40:24Speaker 6: ninety three point seven FM.
- 40:35Speaker 12: Um dry in Texas Time.
- 40:42Speaker 11: That guys the game, you know what I'm talking about?
- 40:48Speaker 12: Just leting and a yell long ago.
- 40:52Speaker 11: To that. Oh my.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Raine.
- 40:56Speaker 11: They got a lot of nice characters.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Hey, that's a Texas song. That's what we're doing today.
- 41:12Speaker 1: It's a little old band from Texas. Right there. Welcome back.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Writers round Table coming up here in a little more
- 41:19Speaker 1: than fifteen minutes. But right now we're gonna hear from
- 41:23Speaker 1: Bucky and what he had to say this afternoon as
- 41:26Speaker 1: his team prepares for the Wildcats tomorrow night. How was crochet?
- 41:31Speaker 12: Is Kentucky still or anything?
- 41:34Speaker 18: What?
- 41:34Speaker 12: I don't even know what that word means? What does that.
- 41:38Speaker 16: You know?
- 41:39Speaker 12: I don't I don't I don't know.
- 41:40Speaker 15: I've never looked at it like that, you know, so
- 41:43Speaker 15: you'd have to ask my players at right, But you
- 41:47Speaker 15: know I've never looked at that way.
- 41:48Speaker 12: So I can't even answer that you think be a
- 41:53Speaker 12: big SEC win.
- 41:54Speaker 15: I mean, we know, we know what tomm it is,
- 41:56Speaker 15: and we know we got to play good basketball, like
- 41:58Speaker 15: we we know that, and all these all these matter.
- 42:03Speaker 15: With a great deal. You focus on winning, usually don't win.
- 42:06Speaker 15: You focus on executing playing good basketball. It gives yourself
- 42:10Speaker 15: the best chance to win. I know it's a redundant statement,
- 42:13Speaker 15: but I'm gonna add a third element into that. And
- 42:14Speaker 15: I know this has been repetitive, no I keep saying this,
- 42:18Speaker 15: but we got to take it personal. And I don't
- 42:20Speaker 15: just mean as a team, I mean as an individual player,
- 42:23Speaker 15: like we gotta, we gotta. It's wrote something on the
- 42:26Speaker 15: board last game Hooper's hoop winners.
- 42:29Speaker 12: Win never more important than March. Right, You don't, You don't.
- 42:33Speaker 15: Remember a March madness. When they show show one shining moment,
- 42:37Speaker 15: They don't show some some great play that was rare
- 42:41Speaker 15: in They show some great players stepping it up, and
- 42:43Speaker 15: March the great player's got to step it up and
- 42:45Speaker 15: so to do we do those three things, execute, do
- 42:49Speaker 15: the things you're supposed to do, be successful, and our
- 42:51Speaker 15: great players step it up.
- 42:53Speaker 12: It gives you a great chance to do well.
- 42:55Speaker 20: Do you feel like you're at this point maybe juggle
- 42:59Speaker 20: lives or something like that some of the guys that
- 43:01Speaker 20: are maybe not.
- 43:04Speaker 15: I think so, I think you ain't gonna have to
- 43:05Speaker 15: get guys on the floor. I think you gotta get
- 43:09Speaker 15: guys on the floor that that uh that that are
- 43:14Speaker 15: gonna win that matchup that night.
- 43:15Speaker 12: Whatever that means.
- 43:16Speaker 15: You know, that could be lineups, that could be minutes,
- 43:19Speaker 15: but you know, we gotta we gotta, we gotta win
- 43:22Speaker 15: some of these lineups, particularly particularly tomorrow at this guard position.
- 43:26Speaker 12: They got three really good guards. So what do you
- 43:29Speaker 12: want to prove?
- 43:29Speaker 9: And see this last week?
- 43:35Speaker 15: You know, I don't want to say wins because I
- 43:37Speaker 15: I you know you know that that like I said,
- 43:39Speaker 15: is that good basketball results and that taking care of
- 43:41Speaker 15: itself a lot of the times. Okay, Now we're not
- 43:45Speaker 15: the only team in the SEC trying to win. We're not
- 43:47Speaker 15: the only team with good players.
- 43:50Speaker 12: But I want to play best basketball down the stretch.
- 43:53Speaker 12: I do.
- 43:53Speaker 15: I mean, that's very important. These last two games and
- 43:55Speaker 15: then head into head into March. And you know, I
- 44:00Speaker 15: want our players to really understand that.
- 44:04Speaker 12: And I mentioned this that.
- 44:07Speaker 15: When when you're in the off season and you're in
- 44:10Speaker 15: the gym by yourself, or when you're growing up and
- 44:13Speaker 15: you're in high school or you're in junior high, you
- 44:17Speaker 15: were in the off season dreaming of March. When you're
- 44:20Speaker 15: in the gym counting down three seconds, two seconds, one second,
- 44:24Speaker 15: you can't be here in March streaming about the off season.
- 44:28Speaker 15: You can't be in March streaming about the off season.
- 44:30Speaker 15: I don't think we have that going on. But I
- 44:33Speaker 15: want to remind these guys that came from all over
- 44:35Speaker 15: the world that this is what they dreamed about and
- 44:38Speaker 15: this is what they've worked for, and just don't have
- 44:41Speaker 15: any regrets.
- 44:44Speaker 9: You told us last week how you kind of really
- 44:46Speaker 9: challenged your guys to walk in for one week and
- 44:49Speaker 9: even though you all lost on Saturday, do you feel
- 44:51Speaker 9: like that that I in and that lock in has
- 44:53Speaker 9: been there.
- 44:54Speaker 12: I think the locking has been been really good. As
- 44:57Speaker 12: a team.
- 44:57Speaker 15: You don't see any I still believe when you know
- 45:01Speaker 15: we play as hard as you know. I don't like
- 45:04Speaker 15: giving bulletin board material that for the hardest playing team
- 45:07Speaker 15: in college basketball.
- 45:08Speaker 12: For the next script show you see what they say.
- 45:10Speaker 15: Now they have their stuff up, right, But I think
- 45:13Speaker 15: when you watch our team play, you're not going to
- 45:14Speaker 15: say seemy teams that play as hard as we do
- 45:17Speaker 15: consistently play together. I want our guys to buy into
- 45:22Speaker 15: the belief in themselves as players, you know. I want
- 45:27Speaker 15: them to to have that belief in themselves and these
- 45:30Speaker 15: big moments that they can rise to the occasion like
- 45:32Speaker 15: they have so many times. And I know it's a
- 45:36Speaker 15: very repetitive deal, but this time of year, you know,
- 45:40Speaker 15: we've got to have guys rise up like we have
- 45:43Speaker 15: at times, but even more important this time of year,
- 45:46Speaker 15: not just as a team, not just with execution, not
- 45:49Speaker 15: just with playing hard.
- 45:51Speaker 12: But hey, I've worked my whole life.
- 45:52Speaker 15: When I have this open shot right here to knock
- 45:54Speaker 15: this thing down, now it's time to step up here
- 45:57Speaker 15: with the courage and the conviction that I work for
- 46:00Speaker 15: this and let it rip.
- 46:02Speaker 9: You talk about players rising up, seemed like Pop rose
- 46:05Speaker 9: up in those last five minutes on Saturday, But just
- 46:08Speaker 9: were there anything that you saw that he could take
- 46:10Speaker 9: from that to try and maybe stend that through the
- 46:12Speaker 9: first thirty five going forward.
- 46:14Speaker 15: I thought Pop played the best game I've ever seen
- 46:17Speaker 15: him play last game. People want to understand that I've
- 46:19Speaker 15: grabbed an HATI I don't even know if he had scored.
- 46:21Speaker 15: I told him, like, man, you've had games you played
- 46:22Speaker 15: scored thirty points in games. That's the best game you've
- 46:25Speaker 15: ever played.
- 46:26Speaker 3: He is.
- 46:26Speaker 15: His effort and tenacity and heart was winning basketball like
- 46:37Speaker 15: he was out there on a mission.
- 46:40Speaker 12: And you know, it.
- 46:42Speaker 15: Takes players sometimes, particularly coming back from injury. It takes
- 46:45Speaker 15: players in a new program to be all in. The
- 46:49Speaker 15: guys that I play the most are guys I feel.
- 46:50Speaker 12: That are all in.
- 46:51Speaker 15: Pop was all in last game. He was all in.
- 46:54Speaker 15: And I don't even know how many he scored. I
- 46:56Speaker 15: don't care. I'd care that that dude was out there.
- 47:00Speaker 15: You know, he was in the octagon and he fought,
- 47:04Speaker 15: and so that's going to help him get on the
- 47:08Speaker 15: floor more for sure. But that when you do that,
- 47:10Speaker 15: your offense just kind of comes naturally to you.
- 47:13Speaker 30: This is us first Saturday Tuesday turnaround in a while.
- 47:16Speaker 30: U does this preparation change when it's this late in
- 47:20Speaker 30: the season. You maybe practice lighter when it's quick a
- 47:24Speaker 30: turnaround or is it just, you know, not that bad
- 47:27Speaker 30: since it was an afternoon game.
- 47:29Speaker 15: Good question. We actually went pretty hard there. We were
- 47:32Speaker 15: late later yesterday we watched him tape and shot we did.
- 47:35Speaker 12: We went really hard.
- 47:36Speaker 15: I think the biggest thing is when you have short
- 47:40Speaker 15: turnaround this time of year. Yeah, you gotta get body right,
- 47:44Speaker 15: game plan, all that, but you've got to get over
- 47:46Speaker 15: the last one.
- 47:47Speaker 16: You know.
- 47:48Speaker 15: It's like Middleton talked to our team last after last
- 47:51Speaker 15: game and said, you know, being in the league, what
- 47:53Speaker 15: you learn is that, hey, you gotta after a game,
- 47:56Speaker 15: you got.
- 47:57Speaker 12: To fix it and move on.
- 47:59Speaker 15: Fix it and move on right, And some of the
- 48:03Speaker 15: things that we did wrong, and there wasn't a lot
- 48:05Speaker 15: of things. Mental things that we did wrong in the
- 48:07Speaker 15: Texas game, we need to fix those and move on.
- 48:10Speaker 15: And that's been our deal because we know the magnitude
- 48:13Speaker 15: of these these games coming up here, and we knew
- 48:14Speaker 15: the magnitude of the last game. I don't want to
- 48:16Speaker 15: say negate that, like everybody knew the magnitude of all
- 48:19Speaker 15: these but in a short turnaround, that's more than anything.
- 48:22Speaker 15: You can't be caught up on the last one.
- 48:24Speaker 9: Is that pre planned for Chris to talk with you guys,
- 48:26Speaker 9: and just what do you think that meant your players
- 48:29Speaker 9: to hear from a guy like that.
- 48:30Speaker 15: Yeah, I mean it was great talk. I couldn't be
- 48:32Speaker 15: in there for it. We were doing media and stuff,
- 48:34Speaker 15: but I mean that was the message on recorded.
- 48:36Speaker 12: For me, I thought it was great.
- 48:38Speaker 15: I mean, you know, they had to run here where
- 48:40Speaker 15: they had lost several in a row and then they
- 48:42Speaker 15: got rolling.
- 48:43Speaker 12: We're not in that spot. We hadn't lost.
- 48:45Speaker 15: You know, we went won too and lost these at Arkansas,
- 48:49Speaker 15: then lost versus Texas. But those guys know what it
- 48:52Speaker 15: takes obviously in this league. And we still got this
- 48:55Speaker 15: awesome opportunity right here right in front of us. I mean,
- 48:57Speaker 15: we got a chance to get to eleven wins in
- 48:59Speaker 15: the league, in a league with that's like, you never
- 49:04Speaker 15: know eleven wins can get you. It could be there's
- 49:07Speaker 15: an outside chain to get you a double boy, right,
- 49:10Speaker 15: So you know you got to look at the opportunity
- 49:12Speaker 15: right here, like, hey, we're in a great position.
- 49:15Speaker 12: We got to fix what we can do and we
- 49:17Speaker 12: got to move on.
- 49:18Speaker 30: I don't know if we've asked you this in a while,
- 49:20Speaker 30: but how's McKenzie doing with his progress? And is there
- 49:24Speaker 30: any chance like if you'll made a deep run or
- 49:26Speaker 30: anything that he could come back.
- 49:27Speaker 11: Or is it totally ruled out that he'll come back.
- 49:30Speaker 12: Uh, yeah, yeah, he's out the season. Yeah, he can't
- 49:32Speaker 12: come back.
- 49:33Speaker 15: Yeah, he's uh physically, he just started doing his rehab.
- 49:38Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 49:38Speaker 11: And how's he.
- 49:40Speaker 15: He's doing great, doing great. I mean he's up right now.
- 49:42Speaker 15: He's doing it up there up north in the Northeast.
- 49:45Speaker 15: He's coming back here this week. You were a texting
- 49:48Speaker 15: last night a little bit, you know, Yeah, yeah, love him,
- 49:51Speaker 15: you know, he's all he's a winner, you know, and
- 49:56Speaker 15: we could use him this time of year.
- 49:57Speaker 12: He knows that. But you know he's still with us.
- 50:01Speaker 30: And is there any chance he could come back next
- 50:04Speaker 30: season or.
- 50:05Speaker 15: You know if he yeah, he can come back next
- 50:06Speaker 15: season going to the NBA, Well yeah, I mean he
- 50:10Speaker 15: can come back for short next season. He's not going
- 50:12Speaker 15: to go to the NBA unless he was healthy enough
- 50:15Speaker 15: to perform well and work out for his draft status
- 50:18Speaker 15: would be where he wanted it to be.
- 50:20Speaker 14: From the outside, like, how do you sort of view
- 50:22Speaker 14: UK season? I know, in November December, I think we're
- 50:26Speaker 14: at to fire and Mark Cope and all of a
- 50:27Speaker 14: sudden they're pretty safe that large different team.
- 50:31Speaker 15: I mean, they're good, they're talented. I mean, whether they
- 50:32Speaker 15: had the Police preseason player of the Year on their team.
- 50:35Speaker 15: They got great guard play.
- 50:38Speaker 12: You know, I mean it is what it is.
- 50:40Speaker 15: I mean, they got really good players, and he does
- 50:42Speaker 15: a good job with them, for sure. I mean, I
- 50:44Speaker 15: think they're ready to fire him. They had some injuries,
- 50:46Speaker 15: some guys were out, you know, I think that. I
- 50:53Speaker 15: think that they're good, and I think, you know, in
- 50:57Speaker 15: this league, anybody can beat anybody. We know that, and
- 51:01Speaker 15: you know, a hole judgment. I mean, you know everybody's
- 51:03Speaker 15: you know, one point wants to fire this guy or
- 51:06Speaker 15: fire that guy. Then turn around and they look up
- 51:08Speaker 15: there in the final four, So anybody are least capable
- 51:12Speaker 15: of getting to go and they and they dang Shore.
- 51:14Speaker 20: Look, I've heard speculation. You don't say that this looks
- 51:17Speaker 20: like a tired team and that's why they're not shooting
- 51:20Speaker 20: the three pointers as well as they do did earlier
- 51:22Speaker 20: in the year.
- 51:24Speaker 12: Does that hold any water in their opinion?
- 51:27Speaker 15: I mean, I think everybody this year is tired. But
- 51:29Speaker 15: I've never had teams this time of year they hadn't
- 51:31Speaker 15: shot the ball well.
- 51:32Speaker 12: I mean you know.
- 51:32Speaker 15: I mean, that's just everybody's gonna have some fatigue.
- 51:35Speaker 12: I know that.
- 51:36Speaker 15: I don't think we should be any more tired than
- 51:38Speaker 15: other teams. Could we use a deep bench? You know,
- 51:40Speaker 15: our numbers just all measured through our system we use
- 51:43Speaker 15: connects on and our number loads are actually lower than
- 51:48Speaker 15: some of the teams we're playing, So you know that
- 51:51Speaker 15: there's something to that. I do think that scouting, there's
- 51:54Speaker 15: something to us.
- 51:55Speaker 12: You know, managing that right, and I think we have
- 51:59Speaker 12: I think more than anything.
- 52:00Speaker 15: Else that that there's ebbs and flows of the season.
- 52:05Speaker 15: If our team was tired, I wouldn't see in practice
- 52:08Speaker 15: some of our guys were really really shoot it well
- 52:10Speaker 15: at times and not shoot it as well the next day.
- 52:14Speaker 15: I do think that guys are getting covered tighter because
- 52:16Speaker 15: they know the strengths and weaknesses the players. We didn't
- 52:19Speaker 15: have any problem in Oklahoma shooting the ball, you know,
- 52:24Speaker 15: so uh you know, and we may have one of
- 52:25Speaker 15: the We didn't have any problem ors Missouri shooting it.
- 52:28Speaker 15: You know, we're shooting threes well, you know, so there's
- 52:32Speaker 15: ebbs and flows. Hopefully the flow goes up in this
- 52:35Speaker 15: next game. We make fifteen threes just.
- 52:37Speaker 9: From maybe a mental standpoint, how do you balance kind
- 52:40Speaker 9: of talking to your guys about you know, like you said,
- 52:43Speaker 9: rises to the occasion, but at the same time, maybe
- 52:45Speaker 9: not trying to overthink or over complicated.
- 52:48Speaker 15: Yeah, that's a great point and that and that's that's
- 52:51Speaker 15: that's a really good point. But I you know, I
- 52:54Speaker 15: constantly mentioned this, and it's like, do you mention this
- 52:58Speaker 15: every March to your team, Like, as it approaches March,
- 53:01Speaker 15: that becomes more of that kind of deal. I do,
- 53:05Speaker 15: because I don't want anyone to be caught off guard
- 53:09Speaker 15: when the game becomes that bone on bone game late,
- 53:13Speaker 15: because that's just every deal you're gonna watch March, it
- 53:16Speaker 15: becomes more.
- 53:17Speaker 12: Of a bone on bone game, Right.
- 53:19Speaker 15: But you don't put want to put pressure on your players,
- 53:23Speaker 15: That's not what it is. You just want them to
- 53:25Speaker 15: know that when it becomes that game, they wouldn't be
- 53:28Speaker 15: here if they couldn't play in that game.
- 53:31Speaker 12: And we've had games like that where we have really
- 53:33Speaker 12: rose to the occasion.
- 53:35Speaker 15: And guess what in the in the sec guess whether
- 53:38Speaker 15: there's two great teams out there, one of those teams
- 53:41Speaker 15: is going to rise to it or those players are
- 53:43Speaker 15: gonna rise to it. Or the other team, right, So
- 53:46Speaker 15: maybe we really stepped it up late in that Oklahoma.
- 53:49Speaker 15: Maybe in that second half Texas really kind of stepped
- 53:51Speaker 15: it up, and they've made some great defensive plays and
- 53:54Speaker 15: offensive plays. But it's just not gonna be every night,
- 53:56Speaker 15: or we'd win every game in the league.
- 53:58Speaker 1: That's bucky from our earlier today and tomorrow night's pretty big.
- 54:06Speaker 1: Have we mentioned that in nineteen sixty one, Gary and
- 54:10Speaker 1: Lawrence Oliver opened a small repair shop in their father's garage.
