- Craig: In fantasy football, your roster at the end of the season is nowhere near what it is right now. Fantasy football is all about making moves and today we're talking about some moves that you should make before week one. Well, welcome back to the kitchen here on Fat Daddy Sports. I am Craig. If you're new here, drop a like, drop a comment, hit that subscribe button. We are fast on our way to our first 100 subs here on this new channel. Today we're taking a look at some moves that I think that you should look at making before the start of your fantasy football season, before week one. If you've got an extra roster spot, you've got an IR spot, ⁓ or maybe you could drop your defense, pick one of these guys up. Store them on your team, ⁓ and just see how things shake out. Maybe you pick somebody up, move them to your IR spot, and then pick a defense back up. Whatever it is, if you've got an extra spot or if you can make an extra spot, these are some names that I think you need to be looking for. We'll start at the quarterback position. These are guys that are under 50% owned in sleeper. We're talking about a guy in Miami, Malik Willis. He was not good at his time in Tennessee, goes over to Green Bay. Has a little bit better of a career. He actually was leading like all passing categories last year in his limited, limited time. And when I said that, I just thought about Russell Wilson. Unlimited. Yeah, you gotta be unlimited. You know, they gotta have a thought process of being unlimited. Anyway, in his limited stints, Malik Willis was pretty darn good. He goes to Miami now with really no competition there. He is the guy, he's gonna be the guy. And they're going to be in a lot of situations where they have to throw the ball, where the ball is in his hands late in the game. Right now he is going, ⁓ he's 31% owned in sleeper league. So you can pretty much grab him anywhere. If you waited on a quarterback and you need to get a second quarterback, I think Malik Willis is a an absolute great pickup. Now, if you have one of those top tier elite quarterbacks, and the same is going to be true with tight ends, you don't need to have a second one. Please do not have Josh Allen and then go pick up Malik Willis. I'm talking if you waited at a quarterback position and you got a guy like Patrick Mahomes or a Kyler Murray or even a Trevor Lawrence, somebody like that, and you maybe want a second quarterback to kind of play the matchups. I think that Malik Willis could be a a very sneaky value. Again, he's only thirty one percent owned. He's going to provide weekly upside with his rushing, and he's gonna have an opportunity to throw the ball a lot. I don't know if that's gonna shake out to be very good, but I I gotta think that he's gonna provide some points, even if it is in garbage time. It doesn't matter how he does it, as long as he does it. ⁓ another guy that's going ⁓ criminally low in percentage owned, and that's Tyler Shuck in New Orleans. Came on at the end of last year and absolutely dominated down the stretch the last, I think, six games. He's got Chris Olave there. He's got a handful of other rookie wide receivers. Jordan Tyson should be back in the next month and a half from his hamstring issue. Hopefully he'll be good to go. But either way, I mean, he's got Travis A. Chan in the backfield that he could dump off to and could take it. Alvin Kamara, he's got Jawan Johnson at the tight end position. Tyler Shuck is set up in a Kellen Moore offense and should have an absolute perfect opportunity to score a lot of fantasy points. Again, another guy that if you waited at the quarterback position, you could pair Tyler Shuck with that player, and you could have two really good fantasy quarterbacks. Tyler Shuck, I could honestly see. Being a top 10 quarterback all season. The NFC South is always a shootout division. They're always going to be in those games where they have to score a lot of points and they're always throwing late in the games. And I just think that this offense is going to be a very pass happy, pass friendly offense led by Tyler Shuck. Again, he is just 43% owned currently in sleeper. Go out and get Tyler Schubb. And then the last quarterback that we will talk about, and this will be brief, but it's Daniel Jones. I know that that is kind of a feeling and I feel kind of nasty saying it, but Daniel Jones was having an MVP season last year before the injury. Obviously, he's still coming back from that, but says that he's 100% good to go. ⁓ they kind of retooled the wide receiver room. Alec Pierce is believed to be the number one wide receiver. You've got Josh Downs there. You've got ninety-eight year old Keenan Allen with his issues he's got going on right now, but he should be a a very valuable wide receiver this season. And then you've obviously got Tyler Warren there who can catch passes, Jonathan Taylor out of the backfield. And Danny dimes provides some upside with his legs. I mean, he was running the ball like crazy last year at the beginning of the year when he was off to that MVP start. And right now Daniel Jones is going just twenty five percent owned in sleeper league. So If he's out there and you need another quarterback, go ahead and stash Daniel Jones. Moving over to the tight end position, this is a guy in Los Angeles, Terrence Ferguson. He is set to be the wide receiver three there for the Rams, listed as a tight end, but they have come out and said that he is basically their wide receiver three. He's lining up all over the field. He kind of came on at the end of last season. And, you know, right now Puka Nakua's got some legal issues, could face a suspension. Could not. He's also got some injury issues. Devontae Adams, he's up there in age. There's a lot of unknowns for the pass catchers in Los Angeles. And if anything were to happen to Puka or to Devontae Adams, Terrence Ferguson slots in to have a huge role for the Rams in what should be a very good offense. Even if both of those guys are healthy and he is the wide receiver three, tight end one kind of hybrid role. I think he's gonna see a lot of targets this year. And right now he is just 17% owned in sleeper leagues. That seems criminally low. I know I drafted him in my recent startup dynasty draft, and I'm very, very excited for Terrence Ferguson. Maybe a name that a lot of people haven't heard about yet, but I think by about week five, week six, he's really gonna pop off, and that ownership is going to skyrocket. Get ahead of the curve. These are the guys that you want to stash on your bench. He's a perfect example of that. In PPR formats, he should be ⁓ very, very good this season. Go get Terrence Ferguson. Now, the next name that I want to talk about, I'm actually just gonna throw out three names, and that is Brenton Strange in Jacksonville, TJ Hawkinson in Minnesota, and AJ Barner in Seattle. Barner comes in right now at 29% own. Hawkinson is at 44% own. And Brenton Strange just breaks that 50% owned threshold that we have on here. He has 51% owned, but still probably out there in a lot of leagues. Strange in Jacksonville, I mean, that's going to be a very good offense, a very exciting offense. A lot of mouths to feed there. So you're probably going to have some boom weeks, some bust weeks. But if you're looking for a tight end, if maybe you waited on the tight end position, I think that Brenton Strange could be a very viable bye week. fill in. I think he could also be a matchup dependent, you know, kind of play the two matchups between him and your other tight end. He should get a lot of volume there in Jacksonville. They're gonna throw the ball a lot. And I I think the same is kind of true for TJ Hawkinson. He is going right now forty four percent owned in Minnesota. They obviously have their own mouths there that they've got to get fed, you know, with Justin Jefferson Jordan Addison, Juwan Jennings, the running game. There's going to be a lot of options there, but I think that Hawkinson could be a good plug and play type tight end this year. That offense is going to look drastically better this year. I I just know that Kyler Murray is going to come in there. They're going to be able to move the ball. I'm not going to say that they're going to be a great offense, but they're going to be a ⁓ top half offense, I got to believe. And Hawkinson, if you're looking for a late round tight end, A guy that you can scoop up here before week one. And if you need to start him right away, you can. I don't think I wouldn't necessarily advise that, but stash him on your bench, see how the first few weeks play out. And I think TJ Hawkins is gonna be pretty good throughout the season. Looking over to Seattle and AJ Barner, he's going just as twenty nine percent owned right now. And you look at that offense, you've got JSN obviously as a as the lead pass catcher. Rashid Shahid, they brought in last year, and he made some plays down the stretch for him. And then you've got Cooper Cup as the other wide receiver. I like my chances with AJ Barner having a little bit of a breakout season this year with Sam Darnold, new offensive coordinator there. It'll be interesting to see how they shake things up. Obviously, everything went through JSN last year and it's going to again. I mean, he is an alpha. He is so good. They're going to get him the ball a lot. But I think AJ Barner could be maybe even next in line in the target department. If you're playing in a PPR format, AJ Barner should have a very good season. Switching gears over to the running back position, and this is a guy in Denver who they are very high on. ⁓ he has been getting a lot of praise this offseason, a lot of praise this preseason, and that's Jonah Coleman. They took him from Washington ⁓ in the fourth round. He's kind of a bowling ball, ⁓ 5'8, 210, I think is what he is. Is just a bigger guy, but he can catch the ball. He can make plays. And ahead of him on the depth chart is RJ Harvey, who really didn't do a whole lot last year. And then J.K. Dobbins, who's getting up there in age. He's obviously had his injury issues. And there's a real possibility that once the season starts up, Jonah Coleman just runs away with this job. I think at the start of the year it's going to be a messy backfield. I think that Dobbins is going to be the guy, but I do think that Harvey and Jonah Coleman are both going to get their run. And I could really honestly see Jonah Coleman taking this job and not looking back by Halloween or so. Jonah Coleman is a perfect person to pick up and stash at the end of your bench. Another guy to stash on your bench is the running back two in Los Angeles. I have talked extensively about this Chargers offense. I think that Omarion Hampton's going to have a huge year. But if anything were to happen to him, Keaton Mitchell slots in as a ⁓ dynamite play. I mean, he when he came in to Baltimore a few years ago, I mean, he was electric right from the get-go. He was the next Devon Achan that everybody was looking for. You are trying to to race everybody to the waiver wire to pick up Keaton Mitchell. Now he comes over to this Chargers offense, a a new offense with Mike McDaniel, who obviously was calling the plays and designing the plays for Devon Achan. I think that Keaton Mitchell's going to be a lot more used than maybe people think. Right now he's only owned in about thirty-four percent of sleeper leagues. I think that he's a fantastic ad, a specul speculative ad before the start of the season. Obviously, like I said, if anything happens to Hampton, Keaton Mitchell goes off. He goes nuclear. But even if Hampton's there and healthy, I think that both running backs could serve a good purpose. Hampton as an RB1, Keaton Mitchell as a low end RB two flex play. I think you'll get weekly. ⁓ production out of Keaton Mitchell, maybe in that eight to ten point range. Not a ton, but again, one of those guys that if anything happens to the lead running back, he blows up. But talking about a few other guys in kind of that same scenario, and it is Emmett Johnson in Kansas City. ⁓ he is behind Ken Walker, Tank Bigsby in Philadelphia, Kaylin Black in San Francisco. Ray Davis in Buffalo. I feel like we've talked about him every year. Braylon Allen in New in New York for the Jets. And George Helani in Seattle. Right now, that Seattle backfield is kind of a mess. Nobody really knows what to expect out of it. So why not throw a dart throw at George Helani? Somebody who is currently only 7% owned in sleeper leagues. Why not get a piece of that Seattle offense? They should be pretty good again this year. Charbonnet is not going to back for a while. You may be able to get a few good weeks out of George Helani if you need it. He may come out in week one and be the clear lead running back there in Seattle, ahead of Judarian Price, the rookie. I personally think that is probably gonna be Price as the lead running back, but why not take a stab at George Helani if you have the ⁓ bench space for it? And then you really look at the the other guys that I listed there, you know, Tank Bigsby, Emmett Johnson. Those both, I think, take an injury to Saquon Barkley or to Ken Walker to really have any value. A guy like Ka Kalen Black in San Francisco, he's 33% owned. Obviously, CMC is the alpha there. He is dominant, but we've seen it time and time and time again. Kyle Shanahan running backs, 49er running backs have immense value, whoever the lead running back is. CMC, who is again not practicing or had a day off. You just never quite know with Christian McCaffrey. And so Kaylin Black needs to be owned. Obviously, if you're a Christian McCaffrey owner and you have an extra bench spot spot, go ahead and pick up Kalen Black. But if you if you're not a McCaffrey owner, scoop him up. And then you have an standing chance at having an RB1 if Christian McCaffrey goes down. Kalen Black, again, 33% owned. Ray Davis and Braylon Allen, I'm not super high on. I mean, we we've Done this dance many, many times. ⁓ the Jets have come out multiple times this offseason and said Brees Allen is the guy. He's obviously dealing with a little bit of injury right now, but really should be the guy, really shouldn't have any issues. I'm not concerned about Braylon Allen stealing that job. However, if you know James Cook or Brees Hall go down, obviously Ray Davis and Braylon Allen get a bump up. We'll see if that happens, but I would focus on the other guys before you worry about those two. ⁓ and then last, moving over to the wide receiver position, guys that I think that you should pick up before week one. And starting at the wide receiver position is a guy in Baltimore, rookie wide receiver, Jacoby Lane. ⁓ he is a big bodied perimeter wide receiver, new offensive coordinator there, Deck ⁓ Declan Doyle. Who knows what his philosophy is gonna be, what he's gonna wanna do. Say Flowers has already been banged up with a lower body issue that we really didn't know a whole lot about. He's back to practice now, but kind of keep an eye on that. I think Jacoby Lane could be a very, very valuable asset this year. Mark Andrews obviously getting up there in age. And really outside of Flowers, like what do they have there in Baltimore? They have not really had a wide receiver two for a long time. Jacoby Lane could slot right in and bring immediate value to the wide receiver position. Another big bodied wide receiver on the perimeter is a guy in Cleveland who has not really gotten a ton of hype lately. ⁓ and that's Denzel Boston. KC Concepcion has kind of it's kind of flipped. But Boston was getting a lot of the hype and then Concepcion started getting a lot of the hype. But Denzel Boston is that bigger perimeter guy. It's going to be kind of hard for him to A breakout in an offense led by Deshaun Watson and or Shadur Sanders. But I I love the talent of Denzel Boston. I think that moving forward, he could have a very valuable role in that Cleveland offense that should be throwing a lot because they're going to be trailing in games. Another guy who has gotten a lot of hype this offseason in this training camp is Cyrus Allen in Kansas City. I get it, Kansas City Chiefs rookie wide receivers get hype. Every single year and then do nothing. You are preaching to the choir if you are yelling at me right now through your screen. As a lifelong Chiefs fan, I get it. I I've seen it, I've been there. Trust me, I get it. Cyrus Allen is different. They used a fifth round pick on him. He has shown it ⁓ in camp, in games, his ability to separate on his routes. Patrick Mahomes has publicly come out and said, like, this guy is gonna get the ball. My bigger issue for him is he is currently buried behind Rasheed Rice and ⁓ Xavier Worthy, as well as Travis Kelsey and Kenneth Walker. So, like, best case scenario, he's probably the fifth best pass catching option on this Chiefs team. I think he's gonna make some splash plays. I think he's gonna, you know, have those weeks where maybe he's he does score a touchdown and he has a very high point total. I don't know quite yet if you can trust him, but. Again, this is just an end of the bench guy that you're throwing a dart at and you hope that he pops off in week one. If by week two he's only out there for a handful of snaps, then by all means, cut ties with him. Don't hold on to him and hold on to that hope. But I I do see a world in which he is on the field. I mean, he is listed as the wide receiver three right now. He's gonna be out there in those three wide receiver sets. Travis Kelsey is only out there for a limited amount of snaps anymore at this age of or this stage of his career. I could really see Cyrus Allen making a name for himself and maybe even bumping up over top of Xavier Worthy, a guy that can stretch the field, can run those intermediate routes. Rasheed Rice is much more of that underneath and that behind the line of scrimmage guy. They need somebody that can run those intermediate routes, stretch the field. And I think Cyrus Allen really has shown that he can do that this year. And then the final guy that we are talking about today on this episode is the rookie wide receiver in Miami, Chris Bell. This is a guy who tore his ACL late in the season last year in college. He was projected as like a a late first round wide receiver, ⁓ that much talent. Obviously, he goes to a Miami offense that doesn't project on paper to be very good, but somebody's got to catch passes there. And I've already talked about Malik Willis in this episode of being a guy that I wouldn't mind buying in on. ⁓ Chris Bell fits that bill perfectly. I mean, he's dirt cheap right now. You could get him He's going to be the team's wide receiver one, I've got to believe. So you can get a wide receiver one on a team that's going to be throwing the ball a ton. Again, probably in garbage time, but it doesn't matter if it's garbage time. Catches and touchdowns count the same whether it's garbage time or not. Go ahead and grab Chris Bell, stash him on your bench. And then, real quick, before we go, I want to talk about five guys that are currently listed on the IR that Maybe you drop your defense, you pick these guys up, throw them on your IR and re-pick your defense up or pick up a different defense. ⁓ but these are guys that are going to have value at some point this season. Right now they're just listed on IR. As long as your team has an IR slot, it doesn't hurt to throw them on there and just stash them and see what happens. ⁓ we'll start in Seattle, a guy that I already talked about briefly, but that's Zach Charbonnet. Should be the lead running back when he comes back. ⁓ he may be in a 50-50 time split with another back, but It's worth grabbing him just to see. I mean, he has provided running back two numbers in his career so far. ⁓ I think that they really like Zach Charbonnet. Another guy dealing with injury right now is Jordan Tyson in New Orleans, a stud wide receiver, obviously dealing with the hamstring issues, dealt with them in college, now dealing with them again. He's out until I think October. Go ahead and grab him because down the stretch, rookie wide receivers are what win you championships. Jordan Tyson could fit that bill perfectly. He's sitting there right now, rehabbing, getting healthy, getting back to full strength. And he could be an absolute dominator down the stretch. Another guy, a little bit older. I'm not like crazy about this, but I do believe he's gonna get traded. He's gonna be a valuable RB2 for an NFL team. James Conner in Arizona. They seem to be pretty good on Jeremiah Love and Tyler Algier. I could see them trading James Conner to maybe a team like Detroit, who is really looking for a running back two right now. ⁓ there's gonna be a lot of other running back needy teams that James Conner, even though he's ⁓ at an older age, he could go in there and be a bruiser, get some touchdowns, and bring some value to fantasy football. And right now he's absolutely free. He doesn't cost you anything. Go ahead and grab James Conner and also grab Isaiah Pacheco while you're at it. The current Running back two in Detroit when he is healthy. He's dealing with a handful of different injuries right now. He really just hasn't been the same player since he broke that leg in Kansas City a few years ago. He's looked very timid. He hasn't run with the same tenacity and ferociousness that he once started his career with in Kansas City. But I do think when he's healthy, he's gonna provide big numbers because he's on that Detroit Lions offense and they're gonna score a ton of points this year. And the last guy that we're talking about is another guy who was off to a a big start in his career until he had that unfortunate leg injury. And that's Tank Dell in Houston. They're looking for a wide receiver too. Tank Dell maybe comes back from injury soon, takes over that wide receiver two role. Tank Dell was a really electrifying player until that unfortunate. injury against the Chiefs a few years ago. He could slot right in there and bring immediate value to your fantasy team. Stash him on your IR if you can. And drop a comment down below who are some other guys that you are trying to snag before week one starts. Let me know who I missed. Drop a like hit that subscribe button and I will catch you guys on the next video. See ya.
