Where are all the ⁓ where are all the edits from the The chirping ⁓ they're coming. They're coming. Yep. That took a little bit more because there was so many things going on, but we will have some video from the ⁓ chirping hole and ⁓ or the the chirp box. So definitely have those out and we're we're dropping the reels. ⁓ and and this episode, so I'll preface I'll give you a little background how this all came about. Saturday night I do a show up at Magia ⁓ and it was a benefit for a great organization. And ⁓ in the crowd ⁓ were ⁓ ten guys from Scotland, part of the Tartan Army. They're upstairs ha they were staying in a hotel near the restaurant up in Danvers and ⁓ so they ⁓ they they upstairs having a drink and find out there's a comedy show downstairs, they come down and of course I made ⁓ part of the show. ⁓ absolutely. Had a great Britain shirt on of all shirts, 'cause I, you know, when I went to London a little while a year and a half ago or so, two years ago, ⁓ wore that not realizing Scotland would be in the house. So that made that made to f for some funny stuff. I I I got some reels out there on my Instagram and TikTok, Mark Riley Comedy, that you can check out. but yeah, so I talked to them afterwards and invited them on the podcast and Bang, here's today's episode. I believe that is a zebra on the ice, Bill. How did he get on the ice? They still can't get him off the ice. This is crazy. Here comes all the zebras. It's a zoo out there. Can't do that. Doesn't matter. We'll all embrace the zebra side. Game on guys. All right. Alan McDonald and the Target Army joining us here on the Chirping Zebras. There's all the boys. Boys. Hey do buddy, you're right. Love it. Now you're around here. You're down in Miami, right? Yep. Yep. Now see Miami. ⁓ You guys just left Boston. We gotta hear Boston compared to Miami, other than the heat, obviously, right? What's the differences? More welcoming in Boston to a point, yeah, yeah. More bars. You guys don't like that. So yeah. Now we miss Boston. We do, we do. But the great city, man. Yeah. The ⁓ a lot of energy. Yeah. And can we can we ask you how how are you getting on with the English in Boston? What are they like? Well, they're definitely not as as good as you guys, that's for sure. Right Ann? Yeah, yeah. That's the right answer, right? They're not putting cones on any statues. Tell me about that. What what is the cones all about? I need I need to know. Yeah. How did the cones things start? George Square. It all started on the George Square in Glasgow. First minister. First minister. The first first minister of Scotland. A student put it up. Can't be taken down by the and ⁓ obviously the stays. The Polish cops where you are, but the Polish kept taking it down or the authorities kept taking it down. But getting the cones across here, goodness only knows. Because they are popping up absolutely everywhere. Brilliant. And before I go any further, Mark, glad to see you got that shite t shirt off. I don't have my New England t shirt when we got you know, when we met I had the Great Britain T shirt on and I took it off and we stomped it. Jesus. Good. All right. Fair enough. Nothing great about it, mate, at all. I'll tell you, I wanna I I need to get a Scotland t shirt. That's what I need. Yep, yep. I'm sure you'll get one. Well Mark Mark, you give us your address at the end of the podcast and we'll send you one, mate. Don't worry. ⁓ you'll get some zebra merch. Yeah, we'll we'll exchange some merch. You can send us Scotland stuff, we'll send you zebra stuff. That'll be perfect. Good man. Guy. Good man. Brilliant. Brilliant. Boys, I've been I've been to Scotland. I've been up in Edinburgh when I was in high school. We did a trip. We went to London, took the train up. It was unbelievable. Ended up in Edinburgh and then we took the ferry over to Island. It was it was a great trip. ⁓ what a what a great time I had over there. We we met a couple this morning in the hotel just getting off the lift and they said, ⁓ we've been to Scotland, it's lovely. ⁓ London, Scotland. No. Yep. Obviously we kept very quiet. Never said a word. That is excellent. Well, I've actually been in Scotland, so I'm I'm definitely I'm making the trip to go to that comedy festival you told me about over there. I can't wait to go try that out. You'd be a hit there. I'm not a fan. You I I they would dick jokes. Well in team, obviously. So ⁓ yeah. Come on guys. Fill in. I'm gonna pass you over. Because they're all dying here. They're all dying here to speak. ⁓ well I know. You guys you guys are all shy. How we doing? How we doing? Boys, how we doin'? Who we got? Not bad. Not bad, not bad. I met up with your ⁓ your pussy here in Miami. ⁓ cup well, me and him hiding over there are from the same town, so I had to make sure that we're all behaving, you know. Absolutely. Well, do you? Sometimes, sometimes. So keep it under a hundred boys. Keep it under a hundred. I lost the voice ten days ago. I still not found it back. Still not came back. Too much singing. That's how I eat trips. We want to talk a little bit about soccer, 'cause that's why you guys came over, not just a party. Or well, I think. ⁓ now, Scotland hasn't been in the World Cup for a while. What was it, nineteen ninety eight, I think? Yeah. Yeah. So I and and I guess I'll preface this with over here in the United States, you might notice soccer's not as big as everywhere else in the in the world. And that's one thing we find or I find fascinating is how into it everyone is. So e explain that a little bit. Why is soccer such a big thing in Scotland, in Europe, all around the world? ⁓ it probably stems from the the club level, ⁓ So like every like around Europe everyone has their own leagues and there's certain Like within the leagues there's like a clubs with it that fill it out. So all of us have our f our favourite clubs and ⁓ we're all friendly with each other, aren't we? So ⁓ yeah, we have a bit of banter with ⁓ within our within our clubs, but because the clubs are so old, like going back to the eighteen hundreds the support for every club's just sort of built on and ⁓ that's where sort of the love for football has stemmed from and then obviously going into an international level, everyone sort of comes together from their clubs to support the nation. So that's kinda where it's ⁓ that's the the root Of ⁓ where it all is. And ⁓ does Scotland have its own pro league? Yeah, so that's the SBL. So it's like twelve teams in the league. Actually, you missed a good year. ⁓ it went right down to the wire this year. ⁓ so there's it went it was between three teams, Glasgow Celtic, Glasgow Rangers and Hearts of Edinburgh. And I've noticed our our Hearts fan has scampered away somewhere. ⁓ because it doesn't he's got a bit of PTSD. So it went right down. It went right down to the last day. H hearts were ahead the whole time. And on game thirty eight, let's just say they had a which was the last game of the season. To to put it lightly, they had a little hiccup and they were overtaken. That happens. Yeah, yeah, it happens, it happens. Why you play the game? That's it, that's it. Ironically it happened forty years ago as well, but where ⁓ but that well yeah, so Yeah? So yeah, like ⁓ yeah. They've they've not got the best record in the league, I would say, ⁓ for winning the league hearts, but they came close this year, but it's not quite close enough. So Glasgow Celtic won it on the on the last day, which ⁓ myself and this man over here that you were speaking to, we're we're fans of and then we're out we're outnumbered by the rest of them. Now i it is the Premier League is the obviously the top league in Europe. Yeah. That's where all the money goes, that's the T V deals, all that. And does does Scotland produce players that play in that league? Yeah, so you probably have around how many players? Six players, six, seven players in the Premier League? Yeah, so you got yeah, our team our half our teammates are least in the Premier League. That usually so they usually they play in Scotland first and then come around. You get a s a couple of players that'll be scouted at and brought down to England at an early age. I think Mc Well, McTominay will start off at Manchester United, who you'll know, so he was he went through all their academy ranks. ⁓ John McGinn, he's at Aston Villa now who are based in Birmingham. Ozzy Osborne's favourite team. else. Aaron Hickey is at Brentford. So yeah, the core of the team is is very Premier League. ⁓ I mean that's where the money is, you know. If you want to make money playing football, then, you know, that's where you go unless you want to go in Saudi, which is kinda passionless, but And and all those players are on the Scotland team, right? Yeah, yeah. So ⁓ We've got players from all over as well. We've got a couple of players in Italy. Well that's where McTominy now. Speaking of McTominy went from Manchester United to Italy. So he plays in Naples for Napoli, that's where Maradona played for. Billy Gilmore, but unfortunately he went out injured. ⁓ but no all countries all around Europe as well. ⁓ I'm trying to think. Any other examples you can think of? Che Adams at Torino. ⁓ yeah, Che Adams, Che Adams at Torino. ⁓ that's in in Italy as well. So Yeah, Ferguson. There are quite a few players in Italy, come to think about it, yeah. ⁓ but yeah, ⁓ I mean your top four leagues in Europe are usually Italy, Spain, England and ⁓ Germany. And ⁓ you know, you if you if you get you go if you go up to those leagues, you know, you you must be at a handy level. There's been a few Scots in Germany in the past as well, so those are your top sort of money leagues. But I will say this I will say this. ⁓ Scottish football has has definitely can we've we've held our own a couple of times in the within the European With the with the bigger teams in Europe. Obviously the Rangers got into the final a few years ago. ⁓ we don't talk about that either because I lost. I mean ⁓ they got to the to the credit, they beat a few big teams, a few big teams from ⁓ from Germany and all and all that kind of stuff. ⁓ but we we held our own, but ⁓ th those are the four sort of bigger leagues. Now so i soccer is the I mean, can you say it's the national sport of Scotland? I probably s I probably is. I we're we're good at other sports. Actually I'm supporting the rugby top today, so this is the Scotland rugby top. ⁓ which I slated for straight away. But that's a sport. That's ⁓ that's a sport, that's a sport. ⁓ there's a couple of things, but yes, ⁓ football is a national sport, a hundred percent. And and so you guys so Scotland plays ⁓ when this airs on Thursday, ⁓ we're tape it on Tuesday. Scotland will already play Brazil. Yeah, it's too it's ⁓ tomorrow, so ⁓ These guys are all going to the game. I think I'm I think I might have a ticket as well. If not, I'll probably go to the fan zone. ⁓ I'm just waiting. ⁓ but yeah, I mean we'll definitely be out there in our ⁓ in our in the hundreds or thousands or millions, we'll be there. Even though there's only five million, I'm sure we can ⁓ get a few more there. No, no, you guys I wanna talk about your experiences in Boston 'cause there's so many videos out there. And when I met y you know, a bunch of you guys at my comedy show last Saturday night. And we did some singing afterwards. There's a video out there. ⁓ But it just seemed like everywhere you guys went it was just a party. That's what it's all about. I mean, ⁓ yeah, I mean I was only ⁓ I'll I'll pass it on to these guys in a minute 'cause they were in Boston for about nine, ten days. But I was there for a couple of days and yeah, I was I was staying central and honestly it was it was fantastic. You know what we do? We just look for an excuse to drink. That's what we do, like There you go. You know, I mean we have bank holidays back home and ⁓ again it's just an excuse to drink. It was like the government, ⁓ have this Monday off so you can all drink. So that's all we do. We just look for an excuse like when the Red Sox are playing we can drink. ⁓ well that's it like yeah I d I I follow the Boston sports actually. Do you guys like the the hicks from French Lick? ⁓ yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So ⁓ yeah it's I think that's why the party was ⁓ so big in Boston 'cause it's a very identifiable culture. The blood of Scotland runs through the blood of ⁓ the veins of Boston, you know what I mean? So I think that was there were a few of us there as well. Don't give Irish all the credit here. Come on now. We need to pat ourselves in the back sometime. It seems like Boston like where's we're ⁓ the I always say the the biggest little city in in the United States, you know, 'cause it's more of a giant town and it just has that feel. And you guys just seem to fit in. You know what? It's funny you used to say that. I was saying this to the lads as well. It is it is a very walkable, walkable place. I mean I mean I think I only used the subway once. ⁓ everywhere else I just sort of wandered around. I mean, some but some great bars. I think the bars I ended up with, ⁓ Emmett's great little spot there. ⁓ the Black Rose was a good spot. Great sponsor. ⁓ yeah. Yeah, brilliant. ⁓ y I'm not I'm not sponsored by anyway. They're just they were actually good bars like I used to freak with that all yeah. That's it. That's it. Twenty to twenty-five, that's where I I lived. Right there. ⁓ man, it was a good time. It's a good time. I went for one of Mr. Dooley's as well. ⁓ yeah, it just great the know how to do bars in Boston, that's where it is. They know how to do bars in Boston. And it was just it was just ⁓ handmade a marriage and hopefully that marriage may continue. That thing is with Scots men. That doesn't usually happen like I don't know what could it be there'll be a few We're experts in divorce. Well I n I know our city loved having you guys here. And ⁓ Yeah, loved you know, I'm I'm a little worried. I I I said it Saturday night, I think nine months from now there might be a lot of new Scottish babies running around here in Boston. Did you see that meme that was going around? Yeah, I see that yeah yeah. Yeah, ⁓ you'll see a few ⁓ Two ginger hair babies in the hospital like ⁓ y if you the the the the nurses I'll be seeing the mothers you d had fun nine months ago definitely. So great. Now we actually for the World Cup, I believe, Gino, if this is correct, we changed the bars, they they opened till three AM. They used to close at two. So for the World Cup they they opened ⁓ at three. ⁓ open ⁓ up till three. So I'm sure you guys We're very upset about that. that was just ⁓ that was just music to our ears, like and the fact that and the fact that they haven't extended those license to England. What do you think of that, guys? What a shame, ⁓ Hang on, let me edit here. What a shame. That's awesome. Now ⁓ Miami Miami is a completely different experience. I've I mean I've been to Miami, Miami Beach. It's not like Boston. very different. So what I mean, I I saw a video, I was saying to Alan earlier, I saw a video of someone standing in the pool playing the bagpipes. ⁓ I don't know that Miami is as accepting of you guys as Boston was. Is that an accurate guess? Yeah, I think ⁓ hopefully on their part it's more naivety and it comes around after the next couple of days. ⁓ but yeah, I think it's definitely been a culture. ⁓ but ⁓ I'm hopefully I'm ⁓ hopeful with with With the Miami a lot, they'll they'll come around and we'll see, yeah, there's no there's no malice, it's all just it's all just happy times and drink. I mean Boston's Irish. We're used to we're used to just drunks for while I stumble around the city. So these guys fit right in. Well that's it. Boston and a bit of New York, they're kind of like European cities in America, if that's what I mean. So Right, right, right. Yeah, you know got you know what I mean, guys? So it's like ⁓ again that sort of helps with ⁓ the connection between us. ⁓ and I think as it gets more down here as well. Bit more maybe bubbled up, a bit more ⁓ you know, as I say is naive, it was a word I was saying before. So hopefully well, a couple of a couple of days we'll bring them around. Well, I mean, Boston was pretty much one of the first cities in the United States. And I'm sure you guys are happy. We actually had a big win over Great Britain, ⁓ about two hundred and fifty years ago. Well, exact well, look at the culture that it's brought on. Like, ⁓ so you you you guys are ⁓ You guys are such ⁓ such proud people. I'm sure you guys are so proud of Team US just now. As you say, it's not been a big sport, but ⁓ what a start you guys have had. So you know, it's ⁓ Yeah good young team, yeah. Yeah, the people that say that US has no culture, they're lying out their teeth. So ⁓ yeah, and it's ⁓ it's still is there still ⁓ what was it? So ⁓ I mean you watch their games, they play with a ton of energy. It just it just looks different. I don't know. ⁓ There's a there's a ton of passion in there. And ⁓ again, hopefully, you know there's been good I mean there's been good US teams in the f in the past, good US players, like Dem say Donovan, but is they've just never sort of jumped on from that. ⁓ but hopefully with ⁓ with this. Your your base player is Chris Richards. ⁓ Christ Crystal Pass player. Brilliant mate. Chris Richards. He's okay, he's okay. ⁓ There's another there's another player that plays for Glasgow Celtic called Austin Trusty. He's rubbish. So ⁓ that's why ⁓ he he's more Tamal like and he plays in Scotland so ⁓ but no there's a few good players there and hopefully hopefully I can just jump on from there. That's now so there are US players playing over I know they're playing in England, but they are I mean ⁓ Europe, but there is some in Scotland. Yeah, there is in Scotland, so there's Austin Trust Glasgow Celtic. I think we Chris Ritrick. Well god no, he said in Scotland. Stayed in Scotland, so This guy here supports Crystal Palace, an English team. Could you imagine that? Unbelievable. Unbelievable, unbelievable. He lives down he lives down there no now, so we give him a pass. ⁓ but yeah, you got so you Austin Trusty at Celtic. ⁓ you got Chris ⁓ Cameron Carter Vickers, but he's injured. He's a really good player, so Sella got him off. Tottenham hotspur. So ⁓ but there's been players elsewhere. I think ⁓ Bocaneg Bocanegro was at Rangers, wasn't he? He was US. Claudio Arena. Claudia Arena was ⁓ yeah, Claudia Arena. Claudia Rena, he was there. There's been there's been a few to be fair. Amoris Edu, yeah, he was at he was at Rangers. Christian Ramirez at Aberdeen, yeah, he got a few caps for you guys. That's why see that's why we're ⁓ that's why we get on so well, man. Take you. We're we're we're ⁓ we'll train all your players. Now is I and I wanna get your take and some of the other guys' takes on this. Is is Messi the greatest soccer player ever? Yeah, for for me Definitely, I think so. No, no, no, no. There's only one. ⁓ wait, I wait, there is one more. There's a song. Do you want you to hear the song? Can you see the song? You put your left hand in. Put your left hand. Left hand in. If your left hand out. And out in out you sick it all about. You do the maradona and you turn around. That's what it's all about. Diego Maradona. ⁓ Diego Maradona the ego Maradona I love it. Forty years ago in this and well roundabout to this day. So Maradona give it give it he ha well they say they say he handled the ball. But I think he got to his head to it. Did he get his head to it? So ⁓ yeah scored brilliant header like that. Went right past Peter Shell. This is what Six foot fourteen Peter Tilton and f five foot one Maradona Maradona won the ball fair and square. And ⁓ yeah. Fortunately put the English out. And again, what a shame. Like Might have to extend those bar hours so they can get over that. So y my understanding Maradona's a favorite 'cause he beat England. Yeah, that's pretty you're pretty much yeah. Yeah. You're pretty much tail on the head. So how many so how many guys do you have how much of the How many Tartan army guys are there with you right now? Well, we were coded what was it, forty thousand in forty fifty thousand. Forty thousand was in Boston, forty fifty. Right. ⁓ I don't know what we ⁓ but that's what it was called, forty to fifty thousand. There were seven thousand Marlins wives last night. Seven thousand at Marlins last night watching them. ⁓ but yeah, I'm ⁓ I think it's actually like confirmed statistics, Scottish football per r per capita fan is the most ⁓ h represented in in soccer and football. ⁓ But I mean like two years ago, I mean I was in Munich, I we some of you were in Munich, weren't Yeah, it's two hundred thousand were in Munich for the Euros. So the Euros is like the ⁓ like a a European version only of the World Cup. And yeah, two hundred thousand Scots in Munich. I didn't end too well worth yeah. I w I would don't look at don't look at that score. ⁓ that score. ⁓ but yeah, so we come at to statistics. ⁓ We we definitely come in our ⁓ hundreds of thousands if we can. Love it. Now, out of right now in the beach hut you guys are in, how many are how many are with you right now? So it's Myself, we've got these gentlemen over here. But nine nine of us. Nine of us. Nine. What's three behind us? One in one in the hammock. Maybe he's in the hammock. He's in the hammock. I love it. He's the one he's the one that's the heart span. He's crying over there, he's crying. I went out trying, we're all in this yeah, we're all in this for Scotland. So we'll just have a better partner. So out of i I just wanna get a sense 'cause this has been I've gotten into soccer now. ⁓ I w was never really into it, but now I'm kinda paying attention more. So as far as the greatest player ever, how many of just you guys that are there, how many what's the percentage as far as Maradona, ⁓ Messi, Pele, you know I mean I would say being on I would say Messi. I think Maradona is the most talented player ever. As a natural talent. I don't think there's anyone being anywhere. I think just for for but I would say I would say what Messi's done is just ⁓ But yeah, but but Greg you Greg Gregor doesn't remember Pelly, whereas the other the old the older generation remember Pelly. And he was fantastic. Perlie was brilliant. He's only one of three World Cups as well. He's up there, he's definitely up there. ⁓ Dennis Law. Yeah, Dennis Law, yeah, Dennis Law. ⁓ come on, come on. So ⁓ I'll tell you what, I'll pass certainly unique. I'll pass I'll pass to I'll pass you back to the charts here and they can go through who the best is. But for me, for me, I would say Messi like. Alright. You go sir. Right Mark, I don't know how I'm going to follow that. We've just inherited a public relations officer. So ⁓ so I hope you got all that. I hope you got all that. I hope it was very ⁓ you know, that was that was outstanding. lads. I I love the I love lad. I love the way you I love the way you guys talk. I said it Saturday. I I can listen to you guys all day. ⁓ Yeah. Hi, listen. It's been brilliant. ⁓ I don't know if What we're having to endure here. I mean, it's not as cultural as as Boston, but ⁓ what we say we're slumming it. If that makes sense. Does that make sense? That makes perfect sense. Yeah. This this is where we are. I know you're saying to your cell, how can you endure this? Yeah. So And it's all like Scotland, I can tell you that. Yeah, you pour baskets. Yeah. We've got beaches. We've got beaches. Certainly no palm trees. Palm trees. So yeah. It's lucky here, but it's too bloody hot here. ⁓ possibly Scotland could be returning to Boston. There's quite a high there's quite a high percentage that that might happen. How do you think that would go down? What was that? We've got a very high percentage of Scotland if they get through their next game could be back in Boston. On the twenty ninth on the twenty ninth of June. Do you think do you think you'd be ready for that? Yes we are. We'd love to have you guys back. For sure. ⁓ it could be against Germany as well. So that would be that would be some That would be some exchange, I think. What so you have to what do you have to do to get back to Boston as far as the no I mean not you guys but the team. I think I think we have to finish third. Nope and hammered by Brazil. And not get beat by not get beat by too many from ⁓ Brazil. And then it's I think there's three possibilities. We could end up in Mexico or Houston or Boston, but Boston was the law of possibilities that was the basic. So that would be I think that Homecoming would be something. Yeah, it would. And and I'll tell you what, y Mexico and Houston not like Boston at all. No, not nothing can replace Boston. I think we've we've established that. Only one city of Boston. They will stay around for the fourth of July. Yeah. Yeah. Hang on for the fourth of July as well. It's gonna be a big one too, two hundred and fifty years, which like You mentioned earlier it's we're really not that old as a country when you think about it and you think about countries like Scotland and European countries that have been around for thousands of years. We're kind of ⁓ we're pretty young. Yeah, but you you've learned fast, haven't you? We do live a lot. We do take we do do a lot, for sure. Live fast, take chances. Hi there. Hey, there he is. Hey five years. No now were you at the old table or the young table the other night? I was at the old table. I thought so. That wouldn't have been my guess. No ⁓ you guys how many of you guys that are there, the nine or ten of you there, ⁓ maybe outside the hammock guy, how many of you played ⁓ played f I'm gonna say football, ⁓ not soccer. How many of you how many of you have played? Everybody played to a certain degree. Anybody play at a high level? There's a few played senior football. Yeah. Yeah. You get paid for that? You get paid for for playing at senior football level. Not a lot at ⁓ a level we played at, but you did get paid and got expenses and got your your football boots and so this is a referee podcast. Now has anybody ever refereed soccer or refereed the game? Gregor's dad, the one that ⁓ had all the stats for you. His his dad was a referee. Marco is a player, I think, of all refereed the game as well. Yeah, you guys are all experts. Yeah. Yeah. Fucking refs. Everyone refs in the stands. ⁓ I. Every everybody in the stands are referee. Right. Yeah. Now ⁓ there's a player I've been fascinated with that from i from Europe. ⁓ Halad, I think it is from Norway. ⁓ Haland, yeah. Haland, yeah. Is he the beast that I think he is as far as a s a footballer? ⁓ yeah, he's he is a beast of a man. Yeah. He's he's quick as well. Over over a short purpose pace. So over ten, fifteen yards he's really quick. So if he's in about the penalty box, it's ⁓ very difficult to manage. Yeah. And We're looking for Scottish ancestry to see if we can sign him. I'm sure some of his family come across and rape and pillaged in Scotland at some point. He sure looks like his family might have he's got that Viking look to him. I was gonna say you might have some Viking in him, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. For sure. So i I I I just I I'm fascinated here as you guys I I hate to keep comparing Miami and Boston, but ⁓ from ⁓ from a from a food standpoint. ⁓ which city do you think wins that contest? ⁓ Boston. ⁓ good cool. Boston has just been the city that everybody's been, even those who stayed in New York and whatever, when they came down to Boston. Most people didn't know where we were going to stay. So they just got flights into the USA and stayed there. There was guys in Philadelphia, just all over the place. But once they all got to Boston, they just everybody fell in love with Boston. Well I we think something written up. We think Boston's the best city in the US anyway, so we Yeah. We appreciate the opinion. So they they the paperwork they've they've signed letters of intent to each other. Which is ironic. No kidding. So some sometime later this year they'll they'll twin with Glasgow. Well I see good. I I need to know where I'm staying when I go over for the comedy festival. I wanna know who's hosting me. In the castle. We'll stay in the castle. Stay in the castle. Just just get in ⁓ Titra in. We'll we'll get you put up somewhere. Yeah, there's a there's a welcome mat in his front door you can sleep. Well, I'll say ⁓ I I have a feeling if I do go over there, I'm I'm twenty years sober. I think that's in jeopardy if I go to Scotland. ⁓ definitely everybody the first thing they'll do is Hi, nice to meet ya, have a drink. I'll I'll have to I'll have to do that. I'll have to wear A kilt and ⁓ drink a ton again. Yeah. And we beat Bolivia, so we won't judge. No, you you you keep you keep your twenty years sober. That that's fantastic. Just just tell them no, they'll understand because there's lots of us in the same boat. I'm sure. There's half a Scotland drink and there's half a Scotland used to drink. That sounds like Boston. Yeah. Now, how long did it take you guys to plan this trip? ⁓ it was we we planned it back in December. They started looking at it and ⁓ we we planned it fairly quickly after that and got it all booked ⁓ by the beginning ⁓ January. Everything was booked up. Yeah. How'd you guys go about getting tickets? Did you have ⁓ trouble getting tickets to games? ⁓ no but we're all members of the the Scotland Supporters Club. So we we go to a lot of the We go to a lot of the away games and home games, so you get two points for every away game you go to, and one point for the home matches. So that that g builds up your points. And as long as you had more than fourteen points, you were kinda guaranteed a ticket for all three matches. So we were all above that. So we all we all managed to get tickets that way. Yeah. Well, that's awesome. Mm. Yeah, 'cause some of these tickets are going for huge, huge money. ⁓ yeah. Down here it's Two, two and a half thousand, three thousand for the the Brazil game. But that was always going to be a big match. I I would think Miami being where it is, there must be a lot of Brazilians coming in. Well we we we have invent we're staying out at ⁓ Panomo Beach, which is ⁓ about forty five minutes out of ⁓ Miami. ⁓ but don't see much here, but there I believe there's quite a lot of Brazilians in Miami. 'Cause they seem to be mixing and partying with the Scots down there already. Boy. Now how long a much made a match made in heaven, some people say. But it's always dancing style and all drinking style combining. ⁓ now, how long are you guys planning on staying? Is it an open ended ticket? Or I like ⁓ do you wait until Scotland's out? ⁓ but if they stay in No, unfortunately we ⁓ wait my butt on Friday. ⁓ some some of it is not a lot. Still have work to go back to. Yeah, it's overrated. Yeah, I know. Well, we hope your ⁓ your team continues on their success. ⁓ we we want you guys here as long as we can get you. Yeah. Although there's quite a few planning on stay and they've got open ended tickets. So if it goes the way supposed to go the week back back and posted before you know it. ⁓ part I'll pass you back to Alan ⁓ Okay. Alan, how we doing our our ⁓ liquid reflection. Good. All right. It's twelve o'clock down there, right? I got a fridge behind me. Almost away. MMI It's twelve o'clock in Scotland, right? Five o'clock in Scotland. Five o'clock in Scotland. So yeah. Cheers. Yeah. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers, boys. Yeah. Please come to No, the boys. Yeah, we might we I think we're having some technical difficulties. There you are. You were cutting in and out a little bit, but we ⁓ you're back now. ⁓ just ⁓ one more question for you. I has this been a successful tournament for Scotland already? Or do you guys you know think that they have to Move at least to the thirty two round. Well, tomorrow we'll determine all of them qualifying for a team considered a success. So but from a football perspective we need to get to the next round. Yep. Okay. There you go. Yeah. We we've we've we've been ⁓ thirteen times to tournaments, whether it's ⁓ the World Cup or the Europeans and we've never got got out of the group stages. So yeah, to to qualify and get into the the last thirty two would be fantastic. I I think one one final thing. One final thing. It would also be a successful tournament if England get knocked out as early as possible. Yeah. That's like us, we root against Montreal on on New York. And is I mean maybe this is a a silly question, but is England the biggest rival? For you guys? ⁓ one word answer, yes. Yeah. So so I definitely wore the wrong shirt. Is it not like you with the Canadians? Is it not USA Canada? Yeah, right. Yes. Yeah, and hockey for sure. Yep. Yep, yeah, yeah. It's very much like that. Yeah. It so we we always say in a tournament we want anyone to win but England. But England. Very good. I love it. Now One one last question 'cause I I I kicked this idea around with a friend of mine who's who's a big ⁓ soccer guy. What would you think about a tournament that had all continent teams? So they picked the best players from each continent and then had a tournament. How do you think that would go? No, I ⁓ personally I don't think that would fly at all. ⁓ it wouldn't be a good idea. We ⁓ we've had something similar in the Olympic Games where they had a Great Britain team, England, Scotland, Wales, ⁓ Northern Ireland. And not it's not a concept that that that we could follow or we could support. So from our well, from my point of view, it's gotta be Scotland all the way. Fair enough. Fair enough. Yeah. Right. Most most countries would feel the same way. They would they only want to support their own country. Steady hand as well. It would be very very difficult to ⁓ get them to support a team. And then what what you would find is whoever whoever the manager is most most of the players would be picked from one country anyway. So it wouldn't it be that it was a was a split of players from all nations. So it it just wouldn't work. Okay. There you go. Well that's why I asked soccer guys. Very good. Hey boy, so you guys been to a bunch of stadiums over here, right? A couple of different ones. What how does the stadiums ⁓ compare from from America to where you guys are? What are the stadiums like? What's your thoughts on the stadiums? Yeah. The only thing to make it better for the stadiums are actually supply. ⁓ it'd be n much nicer if they were in the centre that you could just walk to. Makes sense, right? Like the garden, if you guys went to the garden, you guys could have all walked to the stadium, you guys wouldn't have sat in all that bullshit traffic, right? Yeah. Yeah. UK Stadium. I think Newcastle's like right in the past is Did you guys go to Fenway when the whole group marched over there? Yes. Yes, we did. Absolutely brilliant. Did you guys get on the monster? The green monster. No not the monster wall, no. No, we w we were in the bleach bleacher creatures, baby. That's where to be. That's where the party's at. Yeah, yeah. And what did you think of You don't sit down in the bleaches. What did you guys think of Fenway as the oldest operating ballpark in in the US? it was fine i it it was iconic for us. We've seen it so many times in television. So to actually there and be there was amazing. Just ⁓ yeah, just the history ⁓ and sense of history in the place was fantastic. A lot of energy too, like that's a great ballpark. Like I've been a bunch of bunch of ballparks in America and that that's still hands down one of the best. Like if not the best. What's the i i think it s speaking of stadiums, what's your what do you think is the best stadium that you guys have ever been to anywhere? What's the best stadium? anywhere. Munich. I was gonna say Frankfurt. Did you get that mark? No, what was that one? Echo it. Munich. Munich Yeah. Yes, I mean. ⁓ And also the ⁓ Leipzig Arena in Germany. Germany have very good football arenas. Very good. Warsaw. Yeah. Warsaw. Warsaw. Warsaw. Warsaw was a proper state. Frankfurt for me, Frankfurt was amazing. Frankfurt was fantastic. Now last ⁓ last question for you guys. I know if Scotland doesn't win the World Cup, and we hope they do, believe me. 'Cause the party you guys would have would be epic. what who do you think wins? What's your favorite ⁓ not favorite team, obviously, Scotland, but who do you think is the ⁓ most likely, ⁓ but I'll just refer back to my previous answer, anyone but England. My favorite answer The field over England. Argentina. Argentina ⁓ Spain Dutch, Holland, Netherlands. There you go. Netherlands looking. Yeah. All right. Anyone but England. You got it, mate. Love it. Well, boys, it was so great to have you on. And so great to have you so great to have you guys in our country and in our city and ⁓ just ⁓ you know, you guys are just such a fun group of guys. Thank you, Mark. It's good to see you again and just to reiterate we had a great night. At your at your comedy show, it's fantastic fun. So thank you again for that. Coming! Yeah, we gotta do some singing before we go, right? Right. Does it Right, well recorded. One, two, three. No Scotland no part. No Scotland no party. No Scotland no party. No Scotland no party. Dang best. No Scotland no party. No Scotland. Diddy that is awesome. We couldn't do the courtish as well. Brilliant. Not a very ⁓ how about we ⁓ how about you guys ⁓ cause all the n I think it's cool all the national anthems that we've heard. ⁓ because you know I I'll be honest with you. I only know ours and Canada's. But how about you guys belt out your national anthem and we'll we'll wrap it up with a national anthem. Are you ready for that? ⁓ yeah. That's Scotland. When will we see your lights again? Yet we bet hell and blind I stood against him. My dead was army and sent him home was to think again. Those days have passed now and then in the past they must remain for we can still rise now. And be a nation again and stood against them. Proud and was army and sends them home again. Love it. Playmore ball. Playmall. That was that was the song you guys sang with me when we ripped off my shirt. Yeah. Yeah. That's the one. Yeah, that's right. Love it. Well, ⁓ great job boys. We hope you have fun down in Miami. I know it won't be Boston, but ⁓ hope you guys Enjoy your trip. Safe travels. Go Scotland. Go Scotland. Well done. Yeah. Always an old ambassador to the US. Cheers, boys. Cheers. You Well well me in the final Scotland Scotland USA final. That'd be great. ⁓ amazing. Yeah. That would be the best. Scotland versus US in the final. ⁓ we find In Boston. Yeah. So ⁓ Alan McDonald is the our my our contact. He was our ⁓ he was our main guy and he ⁓ brought the boys. ⁓ and they were coming to us from ⁓ just north of Miami at a nice little look like some type of tiki hut or something. And ⁓ they hate the Brits. And yeah, we found out anyone can win but England. But England. That was ⁓ great. So this is a fun one. ⁓ i you know, i they all I I gotta say, I I pretty much understood everyone. Yeah, I mean, even when I go up to like Saint John's Newfoundland, they all talk But like I understand Turkey, you know, like I got Well, people say we talk funny, so exactly. So like I I understand it. I mean my friend Mad Dog, I mean you can can't understand him either. I do. What'd he say? Told you to go after yourself. Yeah. It's the only we're we're probably the only city well, Louisiana, deep down in the bayou, they need ⁓ they need the captions. ⁓ Well that I don't I can't get those. No. Those guys the the the ⁓ That's a different that's a that's a different Yeah, that French Creole Louisiana and Blazing alligator hunting. Yeah. The sheriff. Yeah. But ⁓ this was a fun one. We hope you enjoy our time with a ⁓ ri a portion ⁓ of the tartan army that's been over here in the US and in Boston spent, you know, a week in Boston and tore it up and loved it and Boston loved them and we were happy to to grab them. So enjoy our our talk ⁓ with some of the boys. From the Tartan Army. Perfect. What a great group of lads. ⁓ lad is you gotta work that into ⁓ one of your next comedy skits, right? Right. He's a massive lad, that one. Right? Like you just you just call somebody out, like, hey lad. And like I that some I had a ref I tell the story with a referee called me lad. We were in the locker room, I bud, you call me lad one more time, I'm gonna knock you down. He's like, You need to relax, lad. I'm like, I'm not fucked relaxing. Where was he from? I don't know where he was from, but he was living in Florida at the time. I'm not gonna get get into it. It'll just get me riled up and Angry Gino will come out and then I'll have to still get to Yeah, well you know, Angry Gino and and the Tartan army from Scotland, they don't really mix. Yeah. They're too happy of a people. Well, now I know how to get under your skin. I'll just call you a lad. ⁓ my god, that that that night. Actually Steve Sterling, Todd's Todd's father, was on the bench for that game. Yeah. ⁓ wow. That was a while ago. ⁓ yeah. Nice. Yeah it was Wilkesbury Binghamton. I'm not gonna get into it. I'll shut up. Well, hold that story for another episode. Yeah. We definitely wanna hear the story. We'll just hold it for another episode. Speaking of stories, I wanna do a reel. ⁓ if we can after the end of this, maybe. I found ⁓ a clip of Jordan Smudlin, Jordan Nolan. They're all like in like a little fucking brawl starts up. And I think me and you Can show it on this thing and we can like talk over it, right? And then you can just blast it out as like a reel. Let's do it. Two former guests, Jordan Smotherman and ⁓ Jordan O ⁓ Jordan Olin. Yeah. So it's like a face off. Like you see me, like it's hilarious. ⁓ the linesman, he's one of my favorites. But like at the whistle, like he picks the puck up. He's like looking to the crowd. I'm I'm shooting the shit with Smotherland. Like, do it Absolutely what you're not supposed to be doing, like Bolton. Right. Right? But like I'm w I'm like talking to him, the player. Like I should be watching line changing, like kinda working through it. ⁓ it's so funny. And then all shit breaks loose. Well, you'll have to check out our social medias to see ⁓ see that video 'cause we'll be posting that one for sure. Yeah. Nice tease. That's a nice tease right there.
