- 0:17SPEAKER_01: Rainy Wednesday.
- 0:26SPEAKER_03: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Mike Blitz.
- 0:28SPEAKER_03: Happy Wednesday.
- 0:29SPEAKER_03: My guy over there, Mike, drinking some delicious coffee.
- 0:32SPEAKER_03: How you doing today, man?
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: Good morning.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: How you doing?
- 0:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 0:36SPEAKER_03: Quick a quick round of what you're drinking this week.
- 0:38SPEAKER_03: It's coffee.
- 0:39SPEAKER_03: We are both drinking coffee on uh 9:30 on a Wednesday morning.
- 0:42SPEAKER_03: Is it raining where you are?
- 0:43SPEAKER_03: It's gross as hell outside where I am.
- 0:44SPEAKER_03: Um, considering I'm just a couple miles from you, yes, it is.
- 0:49SPEAKER_03: That's always a silly question.
- 0:50SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna ask it anyway.
- 0:51SPEAKER_03: Uh, last time we checked in, how you been, man?
- 0:53SPEAKER_03: What's the last week of your life been?
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Uh it's good.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: It's it went by fast.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: Had had a beautiful Saturday.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Uh nice came home with the Vols win.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Uh, nothing, nothing that that crazy.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: Uh, tell me about your life.
- 1:06SPEAKER_03: Not much, man.
- 1:07SPEAKER_03: Sports and rain and kids in school, and you know, just kind of more of the same, more of the same.
- 1:12SPEAKER_03: Uh, I did learn a little interesting, interesting anecdote.
- 1:14SPEAKER_03: Uh, did you know that BYU's uh starting quarterback is Jewish for the first time ever?
- 1:20SPEAKER_03: No, yeah, his name is Jake Redzlaff.
- 1:22SPEAKER_03: He's a JUCO number one.
- 1:23SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 1:24SPEAKER_03: Uh yeah, he was a JUCO number one transfer.
- 1:26SPEAKER_03: They have they have they made shirts.
- 1:27SPEAKER_03: Some of the uh fans in the stands have made shirts.
- 1:31SPEAKER_03: Ha uh hashtag BY Ju uh as uh in honor of Jake Redzlaff.
- 1:36SPEAKER_03: He's kind of their whole offense, frankly.
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: So, like they're they've they've really embraced him.
- 1:40SPEAKER_03: I was reading the student conduct code, which is like the CES church.
- 1:45SPEAKER_03: So, you know, they've got uh they've got you know, obviously it's a more university, they've got a lot of rules.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Are they gonna try to convert him?
- 1:50SPEAKER_03: So they're not exactly they're not gonna try and convert him.
- 1:52SPEAKER_03: And my and the way the way you read it, like it's pretty if you're an Orthodox Jew, it's pretty similar.
- 1:56SPEAKER_03: It's like no drugs and alcohol, no sex, be good to people, be kind, worship.
- 2:01SPEAKER_03: If you replace the word church with synagogue, it's like the same thing.
- 2:04SPEAKER_03: So, like, you know, you could make the case, you know, that like even though he's not part of LDS, that he's like in line.
- 2:10SPEAKER_03: And obviously, he is the best thing BYU's got going for them.
- 2:13SPEAKER_03: So, like, if they're gonna fudge the rules, it's gonna be for him.
- 2:17SPEAKER_03: So, shout out to BYU and the first ever Jewish.
- 2:20SPEAKER_03: Does he still have to do the uh service trip?
- 2:24SPEAKER_03: That's a good question.
- 2:25SPEAKER_03: I guess not, because you just transfer out.
- 2:27SPEAKER_03: I think that's Mormon specific.
- 2:29SPEAKER_03: I think the LDS people have to do that because he already spent two years in JUCO.
- 2:33SPEAKER_03: This is his third year of eligibility.
- 2:35SPEAKER_03: So, in theory, he would have done his mission at that point.
- 2:38SPEAKER_03: Maybe JUCO was his mission.
- 2:39SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 2:40SPEAKER_03: Um, but anyway, uh that's uh a little groundbreaking news about BYU.
- 2:44SPEAKER_03: So uh before we jump into all the things, as you guys know, Mike and I are gonna do a little uh week four autopsy, we like to call it.
- 2:51SPEAKER_03: We're gonna review what happened last week, kind of bigger picture stuff.
- 2:54SPEAKER_03: You guys already know all the wins and losses, you already know stuff, but we're just gonna give you kind of our takes on some things.
- 2:58SPEAKER_03: We'll preview week five, we'll hit you with the Mike Blitz bet of the week.
- 3:02SPEAKER_03: Um, and that will be the show.
- 3:04SPEAKER_03: Anything else before we jump into it?
- 3:06SPEAKER_03: Let's dive in, man.
- 3:06SPEAKER_03: All right, here we go.
- 3:07SPEAKER_03: Do it.
- 3:08SPEAKER_03: People are waiting.
- 3:12SPEAKER_03: All right, let's get to some week four autopsy.
- 3:15SPEAKER_03: Uh, let's go ahead and start with uh chronologically start with Friday.
- 3:17SPEAKER_03: Uh, I loved the Nebraska, Illinois game.
- 3:20SPEAKER_03: Big fan of that.
- 3:20SPEAKER_03: That was a fantastic game.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: Fantastic game.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: Dylan Riola.
- 3:24SPEAKER_03: That's before Friday.
- 3:25SPEAKER_03: We got we got a real bark on that.
- 3:26SPEAKER_03: Dylan Riola looks like an upperclassman to me.
- 3:28SPEAKER_03: I recognize he's a true freshman.
- 3:29SPEAKER_03: He's only been on campus for four months, but he looks good.
- 3:32SPEAKER_03: Um, Ramir Johnson, they're back, really super shifty.
- 3:36SPEAKER_03: They lose again.
- 3:36SPEAKER_03: Uh, really impressed with Illinois, frankly.
- 3:38SPEAKER_03: My takeaway.
- 3:40SPEAKER_03: Um, they the ending was terrible.
- 3:41SPEAKER_03: They had an open touchdown to win, they missed the field goal to go up by three.
- 3:45SPEAKER_03: They go to overtime, score zero points.
- 3:47SPEAKER_03: They're eight and thirty one, their last 39 one-score games, zero points in their last eight overtimes.
- 3:53SPEAKER_03: Nebraska loses another Nebraska game.
- 3:56SPEAKER_03: What is wrong with this franchise, Michael?
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: And this goes this type of thing goes all the way back to when Scott Frost was there.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: He lost like five games by one or two points, and it was basically his downfall.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: I do want to give a shout out to Luke Altmeyer, who is quietly a super hot quarterback in the country right now.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: He's got 10 touchdowns, no interceptions.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: He's playing really high-level football.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: It's, I mean, this was a great game.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: Either one of those teams could have won that game.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: Uh, so good, a lot of stuff to take away from Nebraska, some good things, but you still lost.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: And I don't know why your program is cursed, but I have to think, and I again, your turn in the corner, right?
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: Like at some point, these games are gonna be going the other way.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: Um, you're right there every single time.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: And, you know, it's it's got to balance out at some point.
- 4:50SPEAKER_03: I mean, they're gonna go to they're gonna go to a bowl this game.
- 4:52SPEAKER_03: They're gonna win, they're gonna win eight, nine games.
- 4:54SPEAKER_03: They still have a really good physical defense, and I think they have a really good quarterback, and I think they have a really good coach.
- 4:58SPEAKER_03: So like things are still trending up, but this is just one other game.
- 5:01SPEAKER_03: It's just gotta be this or kick in the shin for Nebraska fans.
- 5:04SPEAKER_03: They really thought they were talent.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Just backbreaker.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: And as you upscale your talent and you get guys like Dylan Rayola in there, like, that's what eventually like you burst through the scene, you know, and and you maybe you you win one that you shouldn't, and that kind of sparks everything.
- 5:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, although we might look back and say Illinois's, oh, they should have won.
- 5:21SPEAKER_03: Illinois got a monster test at Penn State this week, and we'll talk about that in a minute.
- 5:25SPEAKER_03: But like Illinois, I'll show you better than we think.
- 5:27SPEAKER_03: I'm also gonna shout out speaking of Illinois, Zachariah uh Franklin uh Zakari Franklin, excuse me, the uh UTSA, who was like all world G4 wide receiver, now Illinois.
- 5:35SPEAKER_03: He is balling there.
- 5:36SPEAKER_03: I mean Luke Altmeyer got something cooking.
- 5:38SPEAKER_03: So good on fighting a line now being worth watching for the time being.
- 5:42SPEAKER_03: Uh quickly, uh Clemson erases NC State, Michigan, um, with a really great come from hind win.
- 5:49SPEAKER_03: Um USC fourth quarter, fourth and goal with a minute left.
- 5:52SPEAKER_03: Uh punch it in.
- 5:54SPEAKER_03: Are you resetting calibrations on either Clemson or Michigan?
- 5:57SPEAKER_03: I think we left both for dead.
- 5:58SPEAKER_03: Clemson getting a just boat race by Georgia, Michigan just not even showing up against Texas.
- 6:04SPEAKER_03: What you've seen are either team are you changing your stance on?
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: I'm not really changing my stance on Michigan, just because they won that game at home.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: There was a lot of juice, it was a big time matchup, and they they can't they still can't throw the ball.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: And you this is not sustainable long term.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: Like you have to be able to throw the ball through the air to win games every week.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: So they win this one.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: Um, which was it's a huge, it's a huge win.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: Granted, it is a big win.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: I'm not taking anything away from them.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: Um, but I I I don't know that this really impacts things from a big bigger picture standpoint unless they can establish something through the air.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: Uh Clemson, I I do think um, I you know, I gotta change my tune a little bit.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: They're showing more uh explosive plays on offense, which is kind of what they were lacking.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: Um, so I do think they're still capable of a lot, and and the the ACC is super wide open, which helps.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: And their schedule is pretty soft.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I think everything is still there in front of them just because they got beat down by Georgia and they've kind of stumbled out of the gate.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: Um, they still have a lot to play for.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: And obviously, obviously, we say it every time we dunk on them, they're still super talented.
- 7:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, their defense is still flying to the ball.
- 7:15SPEAKER_03: And honestly, I think that really the main thing holding them back, at least the last, I don't know, year and a half was quarterback play.
- 7:20SPEAKER_03: I mean, I thought Gay Klubnik was going back to was kind of going to take the DJU track and go back to the you know, downshift to a G4, but he is playing at least through three weeks post-Georgia at a very high level.
- 7:31SPEAKER_03: If he could keep this up, I think that he seems it seems like they've put their team back on a collision course against Miami.
- 7:37SPEAKER_03: So that's really interesting.
- 7:38SPEAKER_03: Uh, funny thing about the Michigan game, Alex Orgy went seven for 12 for 32 yards, which is just a horrific passing stat line for a power forward football team.
- 7:47SPEAKER_03: And everybody in the country is like, yeah, that was a good call.
- 7:50SPEAKER_03: We've got a good job, Michigan, switching to the good quarterback, making the right decision who went seven for 12 for 32 yards.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: So yeah, it's it's you know, good game plan.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: You leaned into your strengths, but that's not gonna work against more talented defensive fronts.
- 8:05SPEAKER_03: No, I mean, they still have they they they have a lot of very winnable Big Ten games left, and then and then the two monsters, Oregon and Ohio State.
- 8:11SPEAKER_03: I still don't think they compete with Ohio State, and near does Vegas it spreads like 20.
- 8:14SPEAKER_03: I'm having my doubts against Oregon.
- 8:16SPEAKER_03: I can see a muck it up situation.
- 8:18SPEAKER_03: If they can get a little bit better out of Orgy, some gadget plays, they might challenge Oregon.
- 8:23SPEAKER_03: But um, yeah, I uh at this point, the Ohio State game in the shoe.
- 8:26SPEAKER_03: Ugh, it might get ugly.
- 8:28SPEAKER_03: Um, JMU uh went to Chapel Hill and just put a beat down 70 to 50.
- 8:34SPEAKER_03: Um, we might start adding JMU to our homer list.
- 8:37SPEAKER_03: JMU, of course, in Harrisburg, Virginia.
- 8:38SPEAKER_03: We like with the Highway, Virginia schools.
- 8:41SPEAKER_03: UNC's got Omari and Hampton leading the ACC and rushing 555 yards.
- 8:44SPEAKER_03: The rest of the team is terrible.
- 8:47SPEAKER_03: Um, after the game, Mac Brown tried to give some sort of like pep pep up speech or something where he was like, if you're not gonna be here, I'm gonna leave you there.
- 8:53SPEAKER_03: He apparently like offered to retire.
- 8:55SPEAKER_03: Do you think Mac Brown should have retired at the end of that game?
- 8:58SPEAKER_03: I mean, like, they're firing him, right?
- 8:59SPEAKER_03: He's he's gotta go.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: I I don't know.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: I don't know enough about that situation, other than how ugly it was nationally.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: Um, JMU's a good football team.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: Uh, there we're gonna start hearing more about them being in you know, that contention for that potential playoff spot.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: Um, North Carolina and really the the state of North Carolina in in general, not not a very good football situation that's out there right now.
- 9:27SPEAKER_03: No, what are you hanging your hat on?
- 9:28SPEAKER_03: Duke, NC State, Wake, everyone's everyone.
- 9:31SPEAKER_03: I mean, Duke's not a featured, I think, but they haven't played anymore.
- 9:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they are.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: Duke actually is a good story.
- 9:35SPEAKER_03: Duke is the football story of the state of Carolina.
- 9:38SPEAKER_03: That's what we're talking about right now.
- 9:39SPEAKER_03: So that tells you, yeah, that tells her tells you where we are.
- 9:42SPEAKER_03: Good perspective.
- 9:43SPEAKER_03: Uh, I mean, I think we're already talking about JMU.
- 9:45SPEAKER_03: JMU's coach, Bob Chesney.
- 9:46SPEAKER_03: He was uh he took Kirk Signetti's job, Kirk Segnet went to Indiana.
- 9:49SPEAKER_03: Bob Chesney came from Holy Cross.
- 9:51SPEAKER_03: He was dominant at that level for a long time.
- 9:53SPEAKER_03: He might be a superstar coach, kind of in the making.
- 9:55SPEAKER_03: Um, the fact that what he's been able to do with JMU, with the fact they lost pretty much their entire defense to Indiana, so many other guys to have to have JMU undefeated this this far of the season, and I think probably the class of the Sun Belt currently, like very, very impressive.
- 10:11SPEAKER_03: So we might be hearing Bob Chesney's name more and more.
- 10:13SPEAKER_03: Good, good on the uh January Duke Dogs.
- 10:16SPEAKER_03: Um, Utah.
- 10:17SPEAKER_03: Um, Utah is Utah slow playing us.
- 10:20SPEAKER_03: Uh they uh all of our Oklahoma State takes were bad.
- 10:23SPEAKER_03: Let's start there.
- 10:24SPEAKER_03: Utah beats Oklahoma State in a bad Utah Oklahoma State is bad.
- 10:27SPEAKER_03: Ollie Gordon is bad, Alan Bowman is terrible.
- 10:30SPEAKER_03: I, you know, I like Mike Gundy as a coach.
- 10:32SPEAKER_03: I think they'll figure it out.
- 10:33SPEAKER_03: But that game wasn't even competitive.
- 10:34SPEAKER_03: Utah just handled them without without Cam rising.
- 10:39SPEAKER_03: Can can Utah win the Big 12 without Cam rising?
- 10:41SPEAKER_03: I mean, are they just are they just bubble wrapping that guy until December?
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: Utah's a really good team.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: I think everyone's, you know, speaking of recalibration, I think everybody's recalibrating on on Oklahoma State.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: They can't run the ball, even though they have one of the best running backs in the country.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: Their offensive line returning everybody, all the production from last year.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: And so I don't know what the situation is, you know, day to day in Oklahoma State, but week in and week out, they're just proving that they don't have it this year.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: No, they sure don't.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: But yeah, I think we said kind of early, I think on our preseason that Utah, it was kind of Utah and everybody else.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: And I think that's kind of showing to be true as much as we can take away this early in the season.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: Um, and it's only gonna be more apparent with camera isn't fully healthy.
- 11:30SPEAKER_03: Uh yeah, I mean, I think it's what what's gonna happen is they're gonna cruise through the Big 12, gonna get the conference game, and then we're gonna find out how good they really are.
- 11:38SPEAKER_03: Michael Bernard, their running back, he's leading the Big 12.
- 11:40SPEAKER_03: He's a stud.
- 11:41SPEAKER_03: He's a really good running back.
- 11:42SPEAKER_03: And when you have when you have such well, well-coached and high-performing defense, uh, it tends to just kind of cover a lot of other things.
- 11:49SPEAKER_03: So there's that.
- 11:50SPEAKER_03: Uh, what else is it?
- 11:51SPEAKER_03: Really quickly, Eli Holstein turns another gem, 16 for 24, 250 yards, three touchdowns towards Youngstown.
- 11:56SPEAKER_03: He's a pit quarterback, a guy that no one's talking about, that should be talking about, keep your eye on him.
- 12:01SPEAKER_03: Maryland beat Villanova 38-20.
- 12:03SPEAKER_03: Ty Felton on the season, 41 receptions, 604 yards, five touchdowns, 15 yards per carry.
- 12:08SPEAKER_03: He is an absolute stud.
- 12:09SPEAKER_03: Best receiver in the country that no one's talking about.
- 12:11SPEAKER_03: I saw him at the UVA game, and UVA had no answer for him.
- 12:15SPEAKER_03: Keep your eye.
- 12:15SPEAKER_03: Those are kind of my two under the radar players, Ty Felton and uh Eli Holstein.
- 12:20SPEAKER_03: Uh, Baylor, Baylor loses in triple overtime uh to Colorado on two.
- 12:26SPEAKER_03: Failed, then it succeeded.
- 12:28SPEAKER_03: Hail Mary's, uh, Travis Hunter with an incredible force fumble at the goal line to seal that win.
- 12:34SPEAKER_03: That guy is absolutely elite.
- 12:36SPEAKER_03: Um, I think it's time for us to sell our Aranda stock, dude.
- 12:40SPEAKER_03: I think it's I think the curtain is closing.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: We've been holding it for so long that we're not gonna get anything for it.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: So I'm just gonna keep, I'm just gonna I'm just gonna hold on to it.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: No, is this I mean, yeah, that was a horrific loss.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: That was a horrific loss.
- 12:53SPEAKER_03: I don't think yeah, give me give me give me the give me the baylor Colorado thoughts and then talk to me about Aranda.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: Um, I mean, good for Colorado to pull that out.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: Um, they're a bad team with some really high performing superstars.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Travis Hunter should be in the Heisman conversation for sure.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, Baylor, I mean, that's just that one hurts really bad.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: And when your team is struggling, um, you gotta find a way to I mean, they gave that away.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: You gotta you gotta close that game out.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, Dave Aranda, I don't see how he finishes the season.
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: Um, maybe that's you know, who cares?
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: They probably don't fire him this early.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: He he plays it out, but yeah, I you gotta think he's gonna be gone.
- 13:34SPEAKER_03: Mizzou escapes ugly in overtime against Vanderbilt.
- 13:38SPEAKER_03: This is the second week in a row that Mizoo has looked particularly vulnerable against not no disrespect to the Commodores, no disrespect to the Boston College fighting Rob Reeds.
- 13:46SPEAKER_03: This has been a they've been a less than ideal, they even looked ugly against bad teams.
- 13:51SPEAKER_03: I'm just gonna speed blind.
- 13:52SPEAKER_03: Are they the biggest frauds in the country in the top 15, top 20 right now?
- 13:57SPEAKER_03: Is there any team that's getting more credit for less?
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: I have to kind of think that they are at this point because they're not gonna play anybody all year.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: But if they continue to play the way that they're playing, they're still gonna drop a couple games.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: They're gonna still as good as they are, and they're a good, good football team.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: If they don't kind of show, you know, that they're gonna that they can improve throughout the season, um, they're still gonna drop a few games.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: And with that schedule, that is, you know, kind of a doomsday scenario.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they they can't really afford to lose um one or two.
- 14:31SPEAKER_03: I agree.
- 14:31SPEAKER_03: I mean, I think they're gonna lose to Alabama, at least I think that game's in Tuscaloosa.
- 14:35SPEAKER_03: I think that's the one big test that Missouri has, but the rest of it's it's about as soft as an SEC schedule as it can get.
- 14:41SPEAKER_03: I appreciate that Eli Drinkowicz is a good coach.
- 14:43SPEAKER_03: I think he is.
- 14:43SPEAKER_03: Luther Burton is absolutely probably one of the best receivers in the country.
- 14:46SPEAKER_03: Brady Cook and Theo Weese, those guys are good players, but like their secondary is incredibly questionable.
- 14:52SPEAKER_03: Um, I'm not I don't love what they're doing, what they're doing in the run game.
- 14:55SPEAKER_03: I thought of Brady Cook kind of making things happen.
- 14:57SPEAKER_03: Um, my saying all that to say is they still have a lot of pieces there.
- 15:02SPEAKER_03: We could be talking about Missouri in a different light and say, oh, they kind of figured things out.
- 15:05SPEAKER_03: Virginia Tech did this last year.
- 15:07SPEAKER_03: We've seen lots of teams start a season as such, end the season as something else, and they just kind of put things together.
- 15:13SPEAKER_03: As so I think there's a world where Missouri kind of gets it together and looks a lot better.
- 15:17SPEAKER_03: But through September, I've been wildly underwhelmed by them.
- 15:20SPEAKER_03: And I can't think of a worse looking top 10 team in the country.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: So right, yeah, yeah.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: When you when you when you look at the I test, they have definitely not passed the I test, but they yeah, as good as they were last year, and they've got all those pieces back.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: Uh, they could certainly put it together and be fantastic by the end of the season.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: So just one to keep an eye on.
- 15:40SPEAKER_03: Uh, any other games for one jump to the homers from last week?
- 15:42SPEAKER_03: I think I hit all the other ones that we I want to touch on.
- 15:45SPEAKER_03: Uh no, let's keep rolling.
- 15:47SPEAKER_03: All right, it's going.
- 15:48SPEAKER_03: Uh, nice rin for the Wahoos.
- 15:50SPEAKER_03: Uh going to Coastal Carolina.
- 15:51SPEAKER_03: They were only three-point favorites.
- 15:52SPEAKER_03: That game was supposed to, they rushed for 380 yards, which is frankly from UVA's offensive line and those running backs, not necessarily anybody expected.
- 16:01SPEAKER_03: Um, it was a must-win if UVA is going to get to a bowl, and it was a pretty resounding win.
- 16:06SPEAKER_03: There are no gimme's left on UVA's schedule, except maybe UNC at home.
- 16:10SPEAKER_03: We'll see how bad they actually are.
- 16:11SPEAKER_03: The UVA UNC game.
- 16:13SPEAKER_03: Um, they'll I think they're gonna be competitive in every game coming down the stretch.
- 16:16SPEAKER_03: I mean, at Clemson and at Notre Dame are tough, tough games, but like given what we've seen, Clemson and Notre Dame have shown some vulnerabilities.
- 16:22SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 16:23SPEAKER_03: Um, who wins more games this year?
- 16:26SPEAKER_03: UVA three and one or Virginia Tech two and two?
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: Oof.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: Man, with with the way Virginia Tech has looked, it I hate to say it, it's kind of feeling like UVA's got a slight edge there.
- 16:37SPEAKER_00: Uh Virginia Tech, and we'll talk more about them, but uh you know, they can't run the ball.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: Their defense has looked very just mid.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: They can't throw the ball, but you know, on the other hand, Calandria is looking pretty solid.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: Xavier Brown just put up 171 yards on the ground.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: Like UVA's found a little something, and Virginia Tech uh is not who we thought they were in terms of like their offensive identity, no, their identity on defense.
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: Um, so they're still figuring a lot out of and you know, have a big test ahead of them.
- 17:10SPEAKER_03: Let's talk about tech really let's yeah, let's talk about Virginia Tech really quick.
- 17:13SPEAKER_03: I I they're very much a work in progress, but I am panicking.
- 17:16SPEAKER_03: This is pry in year three.
- 17:18SPEAKER_03: This roster is what I think is pretty talented.
- 17:21SPEAKER_03: Um, I really think they are a nine, nine and a half win team when you look at the schedule, and they're playing six and six football.
- 17:28SPEAKER_03: Credit to uh credit to Coach Ciano at Ruckers, he's an absolute savant.
- 17:32SPEAKER_03: You know, I've Tennessee fans know this better than anybody that he's an incredible, incredible coach, and they probably should have hired him, but whatever they let it go.
- 17:38SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, Virginia Tech's got some things going for it.
- 17:41SPEAKER_03: Antoine Powell Ryland leading the ACC and tied nationally in sacks at five and a half.
- 17:46SPEAKER_03: Um, Michelle Tootin is doing better than most people, he's averaging 5.8 yards a carry and seven touchdowns, so he's kind of doing his part.
- 17:53SPEAKER_03: Um, uh Jennings, Ali Jennings, who we thought preseason was their best receiver.
- 17:57SPEAKER_03: He's only got four catches on the year.
- 17:59SPEAKER_03: For me, it's just I I honestly think it's drones.
- 18:02SPEAKER_03: I hate to say it because we know you and I are big dronies, but he's not playing well, he's not distributing the ball.
- 18:07SPEAKER_03: He's got this wide receiver trio that are truly excellent.
- 18:11SPEAKER_03: Um, and he can't get them the ball.
- 18:13SPEAKER_03: I don't I'm kind of my blame is between him, drones, and pry.
- 18:18SPEAKER_03: I'm not sure what the breakdown is, but it seems like that's mostly mostly the problem.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they're just they they I do think there's a lot um that falls on the coaching staff because you know you do have a dynamic quarterback that you know has some strength.
- 19:15SPEAKER_00: Um, and you know, the accuracy, throwing the football down the field maybe not one of his strengths.
- 19:19SPEAKER_00: You have to kind of adjust your offensive game plan to kind of fit what he does well.
- 19:23SPEAKER_00: I don't see them doing that.
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: They do have enough talent to be performing much better than they are, and he's not he's just not maximizing, he's not getting the most out of his talent.
- 19:31SPEAKER_00: And I mean, yeah, it's they're they're they just look lost uh out there, and they're not even they're not even doing well what they've traditionally done well under Pry.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: So I mean, their their defense is looking soft, quite frankly.
- 19:46SPEAKER_03: It feels like a regression, honestly.
- 19:48SPEAKER_03: And that's kind of I could I kind of thought Virginia Tech would be better at with stopping the run.
- 19:52SPEAKER_03: They made some great they've been their pass rushes been there.
- 19:54SPEAKER_03: I was just said, uh Powell Ryland's one of the best pass rushers in the country so far, but like teams are running on them that are not necessarily super.
- 20:01SPEAKER_03: I mean, Diego Pavia rushed for a hundred.
- 20:04SPEAKER_03: Um, uh Kyle Menungay, who is one of the better runners from the Big Ten on Ruckers, pushed them around.
- 20:09SPEAKER_03: Like the ACC has a lot of good offenses with good rushing attacks.
- 20:13SPEAKER_03: And if Virginia Tech can't stop the rush, then it's gonna be a long year, especially since they just can't score fast enough.
- 20:19SPEAKER_03: I'm not seeing seeing um drones get the ball these guys, not seeing chunk plays.
- 20:24SPEAKER_03: You know, it seems like it feels like their whole offense is around drones' ability to scramble and Bashal Tootin, who has done who has exceeded my expectations so far on the season, but they've got to get more dynamic.
- 20:35SPEAKER_03: Drones has got to see the field better, he's got to get the balls of playmakers outside better, and just it hasn't happened, hasn't hasn't come through yet.
- 20:41SPEAKER_03: Uh, so we'll keep an eye on that.
- 20:43SPEAKER_03: Uh LSU, uh LSU uh one, they beat uh UCLA 17-34.
- 20:48SPEAKER_03: It was 17, 17 and a half.
- 20:49SPEAKER_03: UCLA is one of the worst teams in the country.
- 20:52SPEAKER_03: Um, LSU is probably months away, weeks away, not a week away.
- 20:58SPEAKER_03: They're months away, maybe years away.
- 20:59SPEAKER_03: Secondary is an absolute work in progress.
- 21:01SPEAKER_03: Um, I love what I see out of Garrett Nussmeyer.
- 21:04SPEAKER_03: I think he's getting better every single week.
- 21:05SPEAKER_03: Um, he's only in his fifth start.
- 21:07SPEAKER_03: Um, our defensive line is way better than I thought it was going to be, was not near the liability.
- 21:11SPEAKER_03: Uh, we lost Harold Perkins uh to an ACL tear.
- 21:14SPEAKER_03: Tough really, really tough.
- 21:16SPEAKER_03: Um, one of the most athletic, you know, a lot of scouts look at him as a potential first rounder on the defense.
- 21:21SPEAKER_03: So that's just tough.
- 21:22SPEAKER_03: Uh, fun fact Mason Taylor, LSU's uh tight end, has career 99 catches for career 999 yards.
- 21:31SPEAKER_03: He's gonna be that he's gonna be LSU's first tight end with a thousand career yards and a hundred career catches.
- 21:35SPEAKER_03: So best tight end on LSU history.
- 21:37SPEAKER_03: That's pretty exciting.
- 21:38SPEAKER_03: Um, I you know, beating UCLA is great.
- 21:42SPEAKER_03: Uh, we get South Alabama this week, we'll see.
- 21:44SPEAKER_03: Um, but this is a work in progress type LSU team that you know, we're just gonna, I don't know what to expect the rest of the season.
- 21:51SPEAKER_03: I really don't.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, when you say that, you know, Missouri might be one of the most overrated top 15 teams, uh LSU kind of like, excuse me, uh, over here.
- 22:04SPEAKER_03: I mean, that's only that's the only reason.
- 22:05SPEAKER_03: Because if I think you're right.
- 22:06SPEAKER_03: If we were if we if we beat you uh USC, and we could have that game came down to the fourth quarter, you know, a couple plays go their way, we win that game, and then we're sitting at four and oh.
- 22:14SPEAKER_03: I think you're making the case for uh LSU being the most fraudulent, but we have a loss.
- 22:19SPEAKER_03: We're rated, I think we're probably in the 15 16 range, probably about where we should be.
- 22:24SPEAKER_03: We're probably we're I think we're still a top 25 team, we're not a top 10 team, which is what Missouri is at least pretending to be for now.
- 22:31SPEAKER_03: Um, but yeah, no, we are a shaky, shaky team.
- 22:35SPEAKER_03: The upside of that is given uh how much the team has changed.
- 22:39SPEAKER_03: Changing as the years go.
- 22:40SPEAKER_03: We've already seen seven position changes on defense, like you know, the new defensive coordinator, new secondary coach, new uh linebacker coach, new D-line coach.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: Like Yeah, a lot of moving parts.
- 22:49SPEAKER_03: It's a lot of moving parts, very much not a finished product.
- 22:51SPEAKER_03: You know, we LSU might be, and that this is me just being a glass half full if I'm an LSU fan.
- 22:56SPEAKER_03: LSU might be the kind of team where in September, man, that defense was making, was blowing assignments, missing guys.
- 23:02SPEAKER_03: That guy never should have been in that spot.
- 23:04SPEAKER_03: In November, we might have people emerge, we might solidify some things.
- 23:08SPEAKER_03: The you know, the scheme might make more sense.
- 23:10SPEAKER_03: We might be a much more formidable, just a solid team.
- 23:13SPEAKER_03: The biggest thing for me that's troubling about LSU is the slow starts, which has become like a Brian Kelly calling card.
- 23:19SPEAKER_03: Started slow against UCLA.
- 23:21SPEAKER_03: I mean USC, uh started slow against UCLA.
- 23:24SPEAKER_03: Um, uh against Nickel State.
- 23:26SPEAKER_03: That game was like 21, 21 and a half.
- 23:28SPEAKER_03: Like this happened a lot last year.
- 23:31SPEAKER_03: I'm not sure what Brian Kelly is telling them, not sure what the psychology is, but you know, the SEC schedule starts in two weeks.
- 23:37SPEAKER_03: Uh, or sorry, the next schedule is picks up again in two weeks.
- 23:41SPEAKER_03: Um, we can't afford these slow starts anymore.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: So yeah, to me, it's a little bit, you know, a little bit of a red flag.
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: Um, that the guys aren't, you know, better prepared, coming out, you know, knowing what to do, fired up, ready to play, uh, a little sleepy-eyed, you know, uh, just something to keep an eye on.
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: As, you know, those slow starts are fine when you have much more talent than a UCLA, Nickel State, you know, what have you.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: But uh when the when the talent level gets a little more equal, uh, those things can really come back to bite you.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: And I think you, you know, Virginia Tech has kind of suffered from that as well because uh, you know, their losses, Vanity, Rutgers, uh, you know, they got down early.
- 24:21SPEAKER_00: And you know, just something to to to kind of put put in the back of your mind as you watch the Tigers keep on rolling.
- 24:28SPEAKER_03: We will see.
- 24:29SPEAKER_03: Uh now the headline event.
- 24:31SPEAKER_03: Obviously, the game of the week, game day was there.
- 24:33SPEAKER_03: Um, some summary of Mike's uh Bessies were there as well.
- 24:37SPEAKER_03: Uh Tennessee went to Norman, uh, biggest test of the season, and get a got a nice win 25 to 15.
- 24:44SPEAKER_03: This is your game.
- 24:45SPEAKER_03: This is your you go ahead and uh tell me so tell tell me your I want I'm ready to hear your thoughts.
- 24:50SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, it was a really good game.
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: Um it was a complete game in a lot of ways.
- 24:56SPEAKER_00: Uh, and and it was nice to see the Vols win one uh in a in a different way.
- 25:00SPEAKER_00: In the past, you know, Heifel's known for offense, and and you've seen some high-flying offenses.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: And uh, I think that the the country is kind of noticing that Tennessee has a really good defense now, uh, specifically on the D-line.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: Um Oklahoma still kind of wandering around on offense, but their front seven is really, really good.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: Um they're gonna they're gonna lean on that all year long, and it's and it's gonna it's gonna do well for them.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: Um, but their offense was definitely kind of searching for answers against a really good Tennessee defensive front.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: Um, I think you know, Hypel kind of just dictated the way the game was gonna go.
- 25:35SPEAKER_00: And um, that was a much bigger beatdown than the score indicated.
- 25:39SPEAKER_00: Um late in the game, they got a couple touchdowns to make it close.
- 25:44SPEAKER_00: Um, Tennessee definitely took the foot off the gas.
- 25:47SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, just really, I mean, that's what you want to see.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: We're four games into the season, and we haven't opened up our offensive playbook at all.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: Like at all.
- 25:56SPEAKER_00: So that's just lean on defense and and and keep on rolling.
- 26:00SPEAKER_03: So that's kind of where I'm where that's kind of my takeaway.
- 26:03SPEAKER_03: Tennessee.
- 26:03SPEAKER_03: Well, a couple things.
- 26:04SPEAKER_03: One, I my concerns about Tennessee's secondary are are gone.
- 26:07SPEAKER_03: I, you know, when we when you and I had this conversation in September, we thought, or sorry, I August, really, in the preseason kind of um welcoming podcast.
- 26:15SPEAKER_03: We talked potentially about um Tennessee's secondary might be a liability.
- 26:19SPEAKER_03: It was previously.
- 26:20SPEAKER_03: I don't think that's an issue anymore.
- 26:22SPEAKER_03: Um, I know that I know that Tennessee's a little banged up on the offensive line.
- 26:25SPEAKER_03: I think they've been missing both of their tackles currently.
- 26:27SPEAKER_03: So that's coming.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: That also contributed to maybe taking the foot off the gap a little bit.
- 26:31SPEAKER_03: The war didn't trust uh Pass Pro and have Nico back.
- 26:34SPEAKER_03: They didn't want to force him to make a tough throw, make a costly mistakes.
- 26:36SPEAKER_03: So there's that.
- 26:37SPEAKER_03: Um, I'm not concerned about Tennessee's defense anymore.
- 26:40SPEAKER_03: I'm not concerned about Tennessee's rushing game anymore.
- 26:42SPEAKER_03: But I'm interested to hear you say about the playbook.
- 26:45SPEAKER_03: So my question for you was while Nico is sky's the limit, has I mean, his he has he has a ceiling of a Heisman, number one overall pick.
- 26:52SPEAKER_03: That's that's his ceiling, that's his potential.
- 26:54SPEAKER_03: We haven't really seen it yet through five starts.
- 26:57SPEAKER_03: Um, what more do we need to see out of Tennessee if they're gonna win a national championship?
- 27:03SPEAKER_03: Now I think is what we're what we're really talking about, Tennessee is can they compete with the Georgia and Texas?
- 27:07SPEAKER_03: And like, move what's it what's it gonna take for Tennessee?
- 27:10SPEAKER_03: Right now it's Georgia, Texas, uh probably a second tier of Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee.
- 27:16SPEAKER_03: What's it gonna take Tennessee to get in that Georgia-Texas conversation?
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: So everything's played out kind of exactly how you would want it to play out from a planning standpoint when you're bringing along a young quarterback, you know.
- 27:28SPEAKER_00: Um and really, I mean, we're four games into this season, and two of those games, he didn't play half the game.
- 27:39SPEAKER_00: Uh, so they're not asking him to do a whole lot.
- 27:41SPEAKER_00: When you look at his his stats, they don't jump out uh off the off the page to you when you compare him to some of his peers.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: But he's made ha half a dozen throws that if you if you haven't watched him, few guys in the country can make.
- 27:56SPEAKER_00: They're just pop, they just pop.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: And and he's he's got it.
- 28:00SPEAKER_00: You know, he can he can do it, but they haven't asked him to do a whole lot.
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: He's only thrown the ball like 80 times, which is like half the numbers of some of your statistical uh pass leaders.
- 28:09SPEAKER_00: Very low.
- 28:10SPEAKER_00: Um they they're going to have to lean on him, obviously, when you get to some of those tougher tests.
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: But the good news is they've got time to continue to ease him into it, and he's shown he can do it.
- 28:21SPEAKER_00: So um the big my big takeaway is you know, the the stage wasn't too big for him.
- 28:25SPEAKER_00: He's very cool, calm, collected.
- 28:27SPEAKER_00: Um, they're gonna have to protect him.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: We're gonna have to get those tackles back healthy.
- 28:31SPEAKER_00: We've got to buy a week, obviously, before going to Arkansas.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: Um, but I I still think the sky's the limit.
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: I mean, everything we've seen, um, you can continue to rely on the run game, you can continue to rely on defense.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: And he, when asked to make plays, he is for sure a playmaker.
- 28:46SPEAKER_00: So uh yeah, we're gonna see.
- 28:48SPEAKER_00: He's gonna be tested more, you know.
- 28:50SPEAKER_00: But uh everything that I see tells me he that this team is capable of a national championship.
- 28:55SPEAKER_03: No, I mean, I think he's I think he's capable of being better, being the next tenant hooker, even better.
- 28:59SPEAKER_03: He's just we we haven't seen yet.
- 29:00SPEAKER_03: And I the the the part about playbook and him not really expanding it, I think you're probably right.
- 29:04SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna give him a little bit of credit in the fact that I don't think I think Heppel knew that Oklahoma's offense was absolutely handicapped.
- 29:11SPEAKER_03: And he didn't have to do, and you could say, yeah, it took his foot off the gas.
- 29:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think he just said their offense can't beat us, our defense is suffocating them.
- 29:18SPEAKER_03: Let's run the ball, let's kill the clock, let's get the win, and let's get out of here.
- 29:22SPEAKER_03: They didn't have they didn't need Nico to drop back 20 more times in the second half and then get the 49 to three sexy win.
- 29:27SPEAKER_03: The point was get the win.
- 29:28SPEAKER_03: So I'll give I'm gonna give I'll give Nico a little credit in uh that respect.
- 29:32SPEAKER_03: Um, on the other side, um, Jackson Arnold, man, was he bad.
- 29:36SPEAKER_03: Um, just her he played horrific football.
- 29:39SPEAKER_03: Credit to Tennessee defense to make some things make things hard for him and make some plays.
- 29:42SPEAKER_03: But uh, does he play for Oklahoma ever?
- 29:45SPEAKER_03: They really like Michael Hawkins.
- 29:47SPEAKER_03: Does he see another snap for Oklahoma ever again?
- 29:51SPEAKER_00: So there was this is a just a weird situation because they their offensive coordinator left.
- 29:57SPEAKER_00: Um, Dylan Gabriel left, and they kind of said, Okay, like go ahead, you can go.
- 30:02SPEAKER_00: We've got it's Jackson Arnold time.
- 30:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, uh, and they kind of let him go because apparently Jackson Arnold was gonna leave if that was the word that he was better, like he was gonna be the guy.
- 30:11SPEAKER_00: If still so um it's it's been a really interesting quarterback situation for them, and it's I don't know what to think.
- 30:19SPEAKER_00: I mean, you think if Hawkins gave them a spark, but it was late in the game and it was against Tennessee's backup, a lot of backups were in at that point.
- 30:27SPEAKER_00: And there's no film line rotating.
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he did look pretty good.
- 30:31SPEAKER_00: Um, and at this point, at this point, you know, Arnold has had turnover problems dating back to camp and spring ball.
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: So if if they can hold on to the football, play smart, and you know rely on that defense, I think it'll serve them well.
- 30:46SPEAKER_00: So if he comes in and gives them a shot in the arm against Auburn this weekend, yeah, I think he's the guy.
- 30:50SPEAKER_00: If he comes in and struggles, then you really got problems.
- 30:53SPEAKER_00: You you're gonna see kind of that back and forth.
- 30:55SPEAKER_00: Nobody knows who that the no one knows who the guy is, which is never a good situation.
- 31:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 31:00SPEAKER_03: Um, in fact, it's funny because um I'm we'll talk about games next week.
- 31:03SPEAKER_03: But you know, the Oklahoma's going to Auburn this week.
- 31:05SPEAKER_03: The spread's only two and a half points.
- 31:07SPEAKER_03: So, like I saw that, yeah.
- 31:08SPEAKER_03: That is wild.
- 31:09SPEAKER_03: Vegas does not have high opinion on Oklahoma's offense.
- 31:12SPEAKER_03: Even you know, I know I've read Jordan Hare's tough place to play.
- 31:15SPEAKER_03: We'll play on that.
- 31:15SPEAKER_03: But that might be the ugliest game uh of the early 2024 SEC season.
- 31:19SPEAKER_03: Uh, quick playoff scenario question just for fun.
- 31:22SPEAKER_03: Who gets in?
- 31:23SPEAKER_03: 10 and 2 Missouri or 9-3 Michigan?
- 31:26SPEAKER_03: Let's assume it, let's assume they lose to all the both teams win and lose all the games they're supposed to.
- 31:30SPEAKER_03: One spot left.
- 31:31SPEAKER_03: 10 and 2 Missouri or 9-3 Michigan.
- 31:34SPEAKER_00: I don't think you can answer that without knowing who Michigan beat and how they beat them and how close those losses were.
- 31:40SPEAKER_03: 9-3 Michigan assumes they beat everybody except for Oregon, Ohio State.
- 31:44SPEAKER_03: Um, and let's say for let's say for Missouri, they beat everybody except uh Oklahoma and Alabama.
- 31:49SPEAKER_03: So, like again, the games they're supposed to win and lose.
- 31:52SPEAKER_03: So you got 10 and 2, and Michigan.
- 31:54SPEAKER_00: I think, I think Michigan, because especially you also have to keep in mind in this dream scenario, the SEC probably already has a handful of teams in there.
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:05SPEAKER_00: So if you're the committee and you're looking at a Missouri team that's looked lack lackluster and lost the only games on their schedule that you know were somewhat of a challenge, um, yeah, you got to go Michigan, I think.
- 32:17SPEAKER_00: I think so too.
- 32:18SPEAKER_03: Uh cool.
- 32:18SPEAKER_03: Uh anything else before we jump into the week five preview?
- 32:22SPEAKER_03: I don't think so.
- 32:23SPEAKER_03: All right, good stuff.
- 32:24SPEAKER_03: Let's keep the show rolling.
- 32:25SPEAKER_03: Week five is here.
- 32:26SPEAKER_03: Uh, we'll start crying.
- 32:27SPEAKER_03: I know we're gonna usually usually don't jump around, but we're gonna do it just chronologically again on Friday, Friday night.
- 32:32SPEAKER_03: We get another banger on Friday, at least we hope it is.
- 32:34SPEAKER_03: Uh, Virginia Tech is going to Miami.
- 32:36SPEAKER_03: Miami is a 19-point favorite.
- 32:39SPEAKER_03: Um, this is not a good spot, given the on the heels of the home ruckers loss for our mighty Hokies.
- 32:45SPEAKER_03: Um, obviously, it's great.
- 32:47SPEAKER_03: Virginia Tech Miami is a storied rivalry.
- 32:49SPEAKER_03: They've had some absolute bangers of football games for a long time.
- 32:52SPEAKER_03: So this game always has the potential to be really, really great.
- 32:55SPEAKER_03: Um, I hate this spot for the Hokies uh because I think they're gonna I don't I don't think they're gonna win this game.
- 33:00SPEAKER_03: I think they're gonna lose.
- 33:01SPEAKER_03: Um, I think Miami's playing in a really high clip.
- 33:03SPEAKER_03: And I'm now my question is for them is like, can Virginia can Brent Pry keep the wheels on the bus and kind of turn this around after, you know, he's this is he's he's about to weather a storm in 48 hours.
- 33:14SPEAKER_03: So that's kind of my well, give me your tech Miami takes.
- 33:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, this one could get really ugly.
- 33:18SPEAKER_00: I think if you're Brent Pry, you know, you're you're thinking about what's the big picture, you know.
- 33:24SPEAKER_00: Um, your approach to this game has to be, you know, don't turn the ball over, play smart, play assignment football, um, execute because turnovers, tune or turnovers have have been an issue.
- 33:37SPEAKER_00: Um and and you know, maybe take it one step at a time, see see if you can get to the half, being down, you know, one or two scores.
- 33:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 33:45SPEAKER_00: Um keep the kids in it, you know.
- 33:48SPEAKER_00: Um, I think this is a really, really tough spot.
- 33:50SPEAKER_00: And this is where they've they just came off a really tough loss to Rutgers where they they showed some fight.
- 33:56SPEAKER_00: You just want to keep seeing that fight because when you look at the potential for Miami to beat you twice, that's what you don't want.
- 34:05SPEAKER_00: You don't want a demoralizing beatdown where you know you're coming back to practice the next week and everybody's you know tails tucked between their legs down in the dumps.
- 34:15SPEAKER_03: Virginia Tech still has a lot to play for.
- 34:16SPEAKER_03: Uh, you know, the ACC, even and you know, they haven't played a single ACC.
- 34:20SPEAKER_03: They're zero and zero in the ACC despite being two and two.
- 34:22SPEAKER_03: Um, what they can't do is get blown out.
- 34:25SPEAKER_03: They can't get crushed.
- 34:26SPEAKER_03: If they lose in a 10, 14-point game, I mean, sure it's not nobody had for preseason expectation.
- 34:31SPEAKER_03: I think people thought Virginia Tech was really gonna challenge Miami.
- 34:34SPEAKER_03: Miami is better than we thought.
- 34:35SPEAKER_03: Cam Ward is absolutely playing at a really high level, so is that defense.
- 34:39SPEAKER_03: So, like this might be a mountain that maybe in the August we thought Virginia Tech could conquer, but I think now it's looking like a much different picture.
- 34:45SPEAKER_03: But what they can't do is they can't get killed.
- 34:48SPEAKER_03: And if they get killed, I am in year three.
- 34:50SPEAKER_03: The Brent Pry calls are gonna get a little loud.
- 34:53SPEAKER_03: They're gonna start hearing them, and they're sitting at two and three going into October.
- 34:57SPEAKER_03: When we thought we're all thought we're looking at a four and one, three and two at worst.
- 35:01SPEAKER_03: Um, like this is uh this this this the season for the Hokies could really go sideways quickly.
- 35:05SPEAKER_03: So that's uh Friday night.
- 35:08SPEAKER_03: Uh Saturday in the Big 12, which is all of a sudden looking like one of the worst conferences in football.
- 35:13SPEAKER_03: Uh Okie State, uh number 20 Okie State at 23 K-State.
- 35:17SPEAKER_03: K-State's a five and a half point point favorite.
- 35:19SPEAKER_03: Kind of think both teams kind of suck.
- 35:20SPEAKER_03: Avery Johnson looked terrible in that BYU just beat down.
- 35:24SPEAKER_03: Um, I'm expecting K-State to run all over them because he's what the K-State can do really well.
- 35:29SPEAKER_03: Do you have any Okie State K-State takes?
- 35:32SPEAKER_00: I think this is a really important game for both of these teams.
- 35:35SPEAKER_00: Um, Oki State is obviously reeling, K-State's reeling.
- 35:39SPEAKER_00: Um, this could really dictate, you know, how these teams' seasons finish out.
- 35:44SPEAKER_00: I know that seems kind of extreme, but they both need this.
- 35:47SPEAKER_00: Both expectations for both of these teams were to potentially win the conference.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: So neither of them have looked the part.
- 35:53SPEAKER_00: So um, yeah, this is a big one.
- 35:55SPEAKER_00: I really don't know which way this one's gonna go.
- 35:57SPEAKER_00: I kind of have to lean, you know, with the home team.
- 36:00SPEAKER_00: I think K-State's much better than that that game um played out last week.
- 36:04SPEAKER_00: And yeah, or Oklahoma State has just shown that they they can't do what they've been able to do in the past, which is run the ball.
- 36:11SPEAKER_00: And if they can't run the ball, they're not gonna win this game.
- 36:14SPEAKER_00: I think K-State wins by I think K-State wins the covers.
- 36:18SPEAKER_00: I think this is a big bounce back game for them.
- 36:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah, me too.
- 36:21SPEAKER_03: I got K-State covered.
- 36:22SPEAKER_03: I think Avery Johnson's gonna have a nice day.
- 36:23SPEAKER_03: He's not really good at throwing the ball around.
- 36:24SPEAKER_03: They're obviously missing Chris Klein, their offensive climb and their offensive coordinator from last year, but they're still just a better team.
- 36:29SPEAKER_03: And I'm like, maybe Mike Gundy will figure it out because that's what Mike Gundy does.
- 36:33SPEAKER_03: You know, he has he has he's been the Oklahoma State coach for 20 years or whatever.
- 36:38SPEAKER_03: He's been there forever.
- 36:39SPEAKER_03: Not it's not an accident.
- 36:41SPEAKER_03: He's there because he figures this out.
- 36:42SPEAKER_03: There's a world where Oki State is.
- 36:43SPEAKER_03: Oh, he is a solid coach.
- 36:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there is a world where Oki State, kind of like Virginia Tech last year and other LSU teams, he might figure it out.
- 36:50SPEAKER_03: Okie state might get better.
- 36:52SPEAKER_03: So I don't want to count him out, but I just think K-State is better.
- 36:54SPEAKER_03: I think they're gonna just run all over them.
- 36:55SPEAKER_03: I also got K-State covering, so that'll be our first leg of the uh Mike Blitzbet of the Week.
- 36:59SPEAKER_03: Uh, number 22, BYU ranked Mormons, Cougars.
- 37:03SPEAKER_03: Good for you.
- 37:04SPEAKER_03: Going to Baylor.
- 37:05SPEAKER_03: Baylor's actually two and a half point favorite.
- 37:08SPEAKER_00: Um, I think David is that tells us a lot about what Vegas thinks about BYU.
- 37:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean, well, honestly, Jake Retzlaff is their whole offense and their defense, you know, they had they had incredible special teams played in the last game.
- 37:20SPEAKER_03: There isn't much to bet to BYU to really their defense is sound.
- 37:23SPEAKER_03: The defense is playing really good, solid football, but doesn't have a lot of tremendous athletes.
- 37:26SPEAKER_03: And Jake Retzlaf is their everything on offense.
- 37:29SPEAKER_03: And if you know, if Aranda can kind of scheme around that, um, uh, then they're gonna do that.
- 37:34SPEAKER_03: The problem is, I just I while Sawyer Robertson, Baylor's quarterback, is I think an upgrade from Finn, I don't think he's good enough.
- 37:41SPEAKER_03: I think Baylor is reeling.
- 37:43SPEAKER_03: I think the calls are coming from inside the house.
- 37:46SPEAKER_03: Um, I think Aranda's fate has been sealed.
- 37:47SPEAKER_03: I thought I got BYU winning this game because they're undefeated, they're riding momentum.
- 37:51SPEAKER_03: That big SMU road win, obviously the beatdown of uh last week of K-State.
- 37:56SPEAKER_03: I think BYU is just playing confident as hell football.
- 37:59SPEAKER_03: Um, I got BYU winning outright uh to win the game.
- 38:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I actually agree with you.
- 38:06SPEAKER_00: Um, I think this is this is just a timing game.
- 38:09SPEAKER_00: It's just a timing game because you know, skill-wise, Baylor is a better team than BYU, but Baylor just got their hearts ripped out of their chest by um a bad Colorado team.
- 38:22SPEAKER_00: And BYU has, you know, walking with a little swagger.
- 38:26SPEAKER_00: Um, those kids, you know, see that that 22 next to their name, and they start maybe believing a little bit.
- 38:32SPEAKER_00: So I think that this is a game that that BYU comes in and uh and gets the win.
- 38:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:37SPEAKER_03: Uh number 19, Illinois coming after their very impressive win on the road in uh Lincoln, Nebraska, uh playing at number nine, Penn State.
- 38:45SPEAKER_03: Penn State's a 17 and a half point favorite.
- 38:48SPEAKER_03: What have we seen out of Penn State other than I guess handling the might, the mighty West Virginia Mountaineers and the bowling green, whoever they are.
- 38:56SPEAKER_03: Um, I think Penn State's a good team.
- 38:58SPEAKER_03: I think they're gonna do really well.
- 39:00SPEAKER_03: I think they're gonna challenge for a playoff spot and be pretty good.
- 39:02SPEAKER_03: Why are they getting two and a half touchdowns over undefeated Illinois, who's playing with their hair on fire this far?
- 39:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and we know um Brent Bielam was a good coach, and I think he's gonna have his guys prepared.
- 39:14SPEAKER_00: I don't know if they can pull the outright upset because Penn State's still a very talented team, but Illinois is playing really, really good football.
- 39:22SPEAKER_00: Um, they're not turning the ball over, they're strong in the trenches.
- 39:25SPEAKER_00: I do like them to cover.
- 39:27SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm not bold enough to pick an outright upset.
- 39:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, but yeah, I don't I'm not all in on Penn State just blowing the doors off a really good Illinois team right now.
- 39:36SPEAKER_03: No, me there.
- 39:38SPEAKER_03: Um, if I mean if this would be a big resounding one.
- 39:40SPEAKER_03: I mean, obviously, if Penn State gets that kind of win, if they get that kind of three, four, five touchdowns, really sends a message because I think Illinois is gonna end up being a top half, maybe even top third Big Ten team this year.
- 39:50SPEAKER_03: At least what I've seen so far.
- 39:51SPEAKER_03: If Penn State dominates this game, my eyebrows are going way up.
- 39:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I something I just don't think they will.
- 39:56SPEAKER_03: Uh, number 15, Louisville at number 16, Notre Dame.
- 40:00SPEAKER_03: This game is very interesting.
- 40:01SPEAKER_03: Notre Dame is a four-point spread.
- 40:04SPEAKER_03: Are you gonna be watching this game?
- 40:07SPEAKER_00: Um, I can't commit to watching anything because I have two toddlers, but I will do my best.
- 40:12SPEAKER_03: Well, I mean, what I'm really getting at is I'm not gonna be watching this game because it's on Peacock.
- 40:16SPEAKER_03: Uh, this is the first game of yeah.
- 40:18SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, there you go.
- 40:19SPEAKER_03: This is the first game of the season where they're the game is exclusively on a streaming service.
- 40:23SPEAKER_03: I'm just not gonna spend nine dollars a month or whatever it is for this Notre Dame game.
- 40:28SPEAKER_03: I really do want to see Louisville.
- 40:29SPEAKER_03: I haven't seen enough out of them, um, especially play against anybody with a real pull.
- 40:33SPEAKER_03: So Notre Dame is certainly gonna be the monster test for that.
- 40:35SPEAKER_03: Um, but I'm just so annoyed that um, because it's actually the best game in that slot that we're just it's on Peacock.
- 40:41SPEAKER_03: So we're probably not gonna watch it.
- 40:43SPEAKER_03: Um, I do think we're gonna find out a lot uh about Louisville, Jeff Brahm, Tyler Chuck, Corey Brooks, their wide receiver transfer.
- 40:50SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, this is Notre Dame is a real ass team with a very good run game and a very good defense, and they're playing in South Bend.
- 40:56SPEAKER_03: Um, Notre Dame has three guys averaging with 25 plus rushes, averaging seven yards per carry in Love Price and uh Ryan Leonard, the cornerback.
- 41:05SPEAKER_03: Um, for me, the question is can Louisville's run D hold up?
- 41:09SPEAKER_03: So far, they have, but obviously the competition has been much, much worse.
- 41:13SPEAKER_03: Um, that's gonna be the that is going to be the question for me.
- 41:16SPEAKER_03: I also wonder if they get in a little bit of hot water if Notre Dame switches quarterbacks because Ryan Leonard is still having a hell of a time throwing the ball.
- 41:23SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, that's what I was gonna point out.
- 41:25SPEAKER_00: Um when I when I take a look at this game, Louisville's playing really good football.
- 41:28SPEAKER_00: Uh, I do think, you know, we dunked on Notre Dame as we should for dropping that Northern Illinois game.
- 41:35SPEAKER_00: Northern Illinois, by the way, just lost to uh, I think it was Buffalo.
- 41:39SPEAKER_00: So Mighty Bulls.
- 41:40SPEAKER_00: You know, college football is college football.
- 41:42SPEAKER_00: Uh I that I think overall that was a little bit of an outlier.
- 41:46SPEAKER_00: Notre Dame playing that bad.
- 41:48SPEAKER_00: I think this is a time for a game for them to kind of show the country that they're they're not that game, right?
- 41:55SPEAKER_00: This is a kind of a statement potential for them.
- 41:58SPEAKER_00: But when you look at the the quarterback matchup, Tyler Shuck is much better quarterback than Riley Leonard.
- 42:03SPEAKER_00: Riley Leonard can't throw the ball.
- 42:04SPEAKER_00: If they get in a little bit of a shootout, um, you know, if it's if it's a little back and forth, if if if Louisville can weather the storm early and not let the moment be too big for him, you know, at Notre Dame.
- 42:17SPEAKER_00: It's a it's a road game for Louisville.
- 42:19SPEAKER_00: Um, I kind of like Louisville to to get the outright upset here.
- 42:22SPEAKER_03: Oh, wow.
- 42:23SPEAKER_03: Um, I it's a big one.
- 42:25SPEAKER_00: I uh yeah, I don't know.
- 42:26SPEAKER_03: I mean, yeah, I don't hate it.
- 42:27SPEAKER_03: It's a it's a big one.
- 42:28SPEAKER_03: I you know, I just because we've seen so little, Louisville is the X Factor in this game.
- 42:33SPEAKER_03: We kind of know what Notre Dame is.
- 42:34SPEAKER_03: Notre Dame is a very good running team.
- 42:36SPEAKER_03: We know what it's like to play the South Bend, we know their defense is going to play well, um, but their offensive line is riddled with injuries.
- 42:42SPEAKER_03: Uh their passing game has kind of been non-existent.
- 42:45SPEAKER_03: If Tyler there's a world where Louisville gets out there and Tyler Shuck makes a bunch of uh silly interceptions and they're down 14-0, Notre Dame just kind of leans on them and they win this game.
- 42:56SPEAKER_03: There's another world when Tyler Shuck and Louisville caught their hair on fire and they go up 14-0.
- 43:01SPEAKER_03: And then you got Notre Dame playing catch-up football.
- 43:04SPEAKER_03: And yeah, I don't like Notre Dame, they're not built for that.
- 43:07SPEAKER_03: That's not a spot that so far in 2024, they've showed us they can really be and really succeed in.
- 43:13SPEAKER_03: So, like I think we're gonna disagree on this one.
- 43:18SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna take Notre Dame.
- 43:19SPEAKER_03: I think they're I think their physical, I think their physical defense is gonna be the difference.
- 43:21SPEAKER_03: Um, just because I just think you and I are gonna go different with this one, but I wouldn't be surprised.
- 43:26SPEAKER_00: And Notre Dame's secondary is really strong, we know.
- 43:30SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, I don't think I don't think Taylor Shek's gonna come in there and throw the ball all over him.
- 43:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, um, I this is just one I've got a gut feeling about.
- 43:37SPEAKER_00: Um, Notre Dame's obviously more talented uh from a paper roster standpoint.
- 43:41SPEAKER_00: It's kind of what I'm going for instead of home, and and and they already have dropped one that they shouldn't have.
- 43:46SPEAKER_00: I think this is a little bit of a kind of a revenge bounce back spot.
- 43:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but um, yeah, give me the underdog, man.
- 43:51SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 43:52SPEAKER_00: Uh, really quick, Oklahoma at Auburn.
- 43:54SPEAKER_03: Uh, Oklahoma's only two and a half point favorite.
- 43:56SPEAKER_03: This is gonna be the ugliest football game in uh SEC this year.
- 44:00SPEAKER_03: Uh, two terrible quarterbacks against two good defenses.
- 44:03SPEAKER_03: I'm interested just from like a just a I hate myself kind of I'm I might hate watch this game.
- 44:08SPEAKER_03: Um, I have no uh prediction on this one.
- 44:09SPEAKER_03: I just want to talk about how ugly it's gonna be.
- 44:11SPEAKER_03: Anything for the any any Oklahoma Auburn takes?
- 44:14SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, this is a tough spot for both teams.
- 44:17SPEAKER_00: Uh, they both need this one very badly.
- 44:19SPEAKER_00: Um, the thing for me is Auburn has actually not been performing that terribly on offense.
- 44:25SPEAKER_00: Their numbers are really good overall as a team.
- 44:27SPEAKER_00: They just have turned the ball over a ton.
- 44:29SPEAKER_00: They're throwing a ton of interceptions.
- 44:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 44:31SPEAKER_00: If they don't turn the ball over, uh, I think they win this game.
- 44:34SPEAKER_00: But Oklahoma's front seven, as we talked about, really good.
- 44:37SPEAKER_00: And their defense is really good.
- 44:38SPEAKER_00: So if If they can get a couple stops, get a couple turnovers with the injection of a new quarterback.
- 44:45SPEAKER_00: I'll take Oklahoma.
- 44:46SPEAKER_00: But you know, it's on the road.
- 44:47SPEAKER_00: It's in Jordan Hare.
- 44:48SPEAKER_00: I think if I had to pick, you know, it's a tough one.
- 44:51SPEAKER_00: I think I like Oklahoma to edge this one out on defense.
- 44:54SPEAKER_00: I think overall as a as a team, they're they're they're better suited, better equipped.
- 44:59SPEAKER_00: Um yeah.
- 45:00SPEAKER_00: So I'll take Oklahoma, but not a great feeling.
- 45:02SPEAKER_03: Not a great feeling.
- 45:03SPEAKER_03: I'm actually gonna agree with you.
- 45:03SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna take Oklahoma's gonna cover as well.
- 45:05SPEAKER_03: Um, yeah, I think they're more talented, and I think I think Michael Hawkins is gonna do some do is gonna do some things that Auburn hasn't seen before.
- 45:11SPEAKER_03: Um, Brent Venables having a good defense in year three is probably the least surprising thing in college football history.
- 45:16SPEAKER_03: I mean, you knew once he got there, once he got his up and running, that Oklahoma's gonna play good defense.
- 45:21SPEAKER_03: So I'm not surprised at all.
- 45:22SPEAKER_03: I'll take the uh Sooners on the road, getting the bounce back against your vols.
- 45:26SPEAKER_03: Uh, Maryland should be four and oh, they're three and one of that absurd breakdown against Michigan State two weeks ago, playing at Indiana, Indiana minus seven, who's actually four and oh, is the off the radar, very interesting Big Ten game of the week.
- 45:41SPEAKER_03: Indiana has just been killing people.
- 45:43SPEAKER_03: Uh, the Indiana Duke Dogs, they took pretty much all of Jamie's defense, Curtis Rourke, the Ohio University Bobcat transfer, also playing really well.
- 45:51SPEAKER_03: Um, I love what I'm seeing in Indiana.
- 45:52SPEAKER_03: Ty Felton's in this game, my favorite uh non-LSU wide receiver this year.
- 45:56SPEAKER_03: Um, I got Indiana covering, but I think this the seven points, but I think this is gonna be a really interesting, fun game to watch.
- 46:03SPEAKER_03: Um, I like the Hoosiers to win like 10 games this year at this point.
- 46:06SPEAKER_03: It's absurd how good they are in year one.
- 46:08SPEAKER_03: But uh give me the Hoosiers minus seven.
- 46:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I agree with you.
- 46:12SPEAKER_00: I don't have a ton to say about it.
- 46:13SPEAKER_00: Indiana is a better team, Maryland's a good story.
- 46:16SPEAKER_00: Um, but Indiana is better and they're at home, and they've got to yeah, they're they're they're they look strong so far.
- 46:22SPEAKER_00: Very guys, Colorado.
- 46:23SPEAKER_03: I can't, I told you I wouldn't talk about Colorado, but we're talking about Colorado.
- 46:26SPEAKER_03: Colorado is playing.
- 46:27SPEAKER_03: I have to, I have to, because what happened last week?
- 46:29SPEAKER_03: Colorado's at UCF, who for my money is probably the second best team in the Big 12.
- 46:33SPEAKER_03: UCF is a two touchdown favorites.
- 46:36SPEAKER_03: Um, this is a really interesting game for a couple of reasons.
- 46:39SPEAKER_03: UCF has an incredible rushing attack.
- 46:41SPEAKER_03: This is a Gus Malzan team that runs the bejesus out of the ball.
- 46:44SPEAKER_03: They might rush for 500 yards.
- 46:46SPEAKER_03: And Colorado, we as we all know, doesn't play rush defense.
- 46:49SPEAKER_03: They just don't do it.
- 46:50SPEAKER_03: However, Colorado has an NFL quarterback.
- 46:54SPEAKER_03: Colorado has two NFL receivers in Jimmy Horn and Travis Hunter.
- 46:58SPEAKER_03: UCF secondary is so bad.
- 47:01SPEAKER_03: I think it's statistically the worst in the Big 12 are amongst the worst.
- 47:04SPEAKER_03: So the score of this game might be 56 to 70.
- 47:08SPEAKER_03: I really don't know because I'm expecting UCF to just run rampant on them, but I also think Shador is gonna sit back there and carve them up too.
- 47:16SPEAKER_03: So I don't know.
- 47:17SPEAKER_03: I think from a watching, don't care what's gonna happen kind of standpoint.
- 47:21SPEAKER_03: This is gonna be a really fun game.
- 47:23SPEAKER_00: Yes, this will be a really fun game.
- 47:25SPEAKER_00: Um, I don't think Central Florida is ranked yet.
- 47:28SPEAKER_00: They I think they're right on the edge.
- 47:30SPEAKER_00: They should be.
- 47:30SPEAKER_00: I do think they win this game.
- 47:32SPEAKER_00: Um, they've got game day coming.
- 47:34SPEAKER_00: Um, what do they call their stadium?
- 47:36SPEAKER_00: The space dome or something goofy.
- 47:39SPEAKER_00: I think that place is gonna be like rocking.
- 47:41SPEAKER_00: Um, and they're excited.
- 47:42SPEAKER_00: Dion's coming to town uh with all the fanfare.
- 47:46SPEAKER_00: Um, so yeah, I like UCF.
- 47:48SPEAKER_00: I don't that's a big number.
- 47:49SPEAKER_00: I don't know if they cover that.
- 47:50SPEAKER_00: I think it's a lot of back and forth, like you said.
- 47:52SPEAKER_00: Um Colorado stakes keep it close.
- 47:56SPEAKER_00: Uh I don't I don't know.
- 47:57SPEAKER_00: I what is your take on this if Colorado pulls the upset?
- 48:01SPEAKER_00: Is it changing anything for you?
- 48:02SPEAKER_03: Uh no, not really.
- 48:04SPEAKER_03: I mean, I you know, they're still there's still a team that can throw the ball well, can't play defense, can't play rush defense, and they're all leaving, they're all leaving Boulder next year and not coming back.
- 48:11SPEAKER_03: So I'm kind of I mean, I I don't think you're gonna win this game.
- 48:14SPEAKER_03: I think Gus Malzan and I think um the bounce house.
- 48:17SPEAKER_03: The bounce house.
- 48:18SPEAKER_03: Oh, I do like that.
- 48:18SPEAKER_03: Um and KJ Jefferson, I think they're gonna control the clock.
- 48:22SPEAKER_03: I think I think Gus Malzan knows that his his absolute liability in secondary.
- 48:26SPEAKER_03: I got UCF winning by a lot because I think he'll do enough to just get too big of a lead and Dion's gonna panic, and Shadur's gonna try and force things.
- 48:34SPEAKER_03: UCF gets a lucky turnover.
- 48:36SPEAKER_03: So I got UCF covering, winning by 17 or so, but I think it's gonna be a lot of points.
- 48:40SPEAKER_03: Highly fun, really great game.
- 48:43SPEAKER_03: I'm expecting I'm expecting a lot of big plays in this game.
- 48:45SPEAKER_03: This is gonna be a big play game.
- 48:46SPEAKER_03: Maybe we should just take the over.
- 48:47SPEAKER_03: Should we just take the over?
- 48:48SPEAKER_03: Is that the that the play here?
- 48:49SPEAKER_00: I like your take.
- 48:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm not I'm not mad at that, actually.
- 48:52SPEAKER_00: 62 and a half points.
- 48:53SPEAKER_00: Good move.
- 48:54SPEAKER_00: Let's just do the over.
- 48:55SPEAKER_00: Let's do 62 and a half over.
- 48:57SPEAKER_03: Okay, okay, we'll do the UCF over.
- 49:00SPEAKER_03: Good stuff.
- 49:01SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 49:01SPEAKER_03: Uh, I think is that it?
- 49:03SPEAKER_03: We have one more.
- 49:04SPEAKER_03: Oh, the the big game.
- 49:06SPEAKER_03: The game, the headliner game.
- 49:08SPEAKER_03: Number two, Georgia is a one and a half, two-point favorite.
- 49:12SPEAKER_03: Uh, at number four, Bama game day is gonna be there.
- 49:15SPEAKER_03: This game has been circled on everyone's calendar for years.
- 49:19SPEAKER_03: Uh, you go ahead and give me your what do you what do you think?
- 49:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, this is a really interesting, interesting matchup, man.
- 49:27SPEAKER_00: Um, it's it's it's must see TV, absolutely, and all eyes of the nation will be on it.
- 49:35SPEAKER_00: Um to me, uh, you know, I'm looking at Georgia's offense, uh, who has shown to be a little more vulnerable this year.
- 49:44SPEAKER_00: And I'm looking at Bama's secondary, who is kind of the question mark for in everyone's mind.
- 49:50SPEAKER_00: I mean, a lot of freshmen, a lot of new faces, transfers.
- 49:54SPEAKER_00: Um, I think both teams play this game a little conservative to start with, lean on defense, um, and see who pops a big play to kind of open this thing up.
- 50:03SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, I'm I'm interested to see how Carson Beck looks because he has uh he's obviously has all the talent in the world.
- 50:12SPEAKER_00: He's shown how good he can be, but um, you know, they're they don't have the playmakers on the offensive side of the ball that he can uh lean on uh to sustain some of those drives.
- 50:24SPEAKER_00: Um, whereas Bama's been kind of big play, right?
- 50:28SPEAKER_00: They've been they've been kind of one-shot big play offense.
- 50:32SPEAKER_00: So it's it's it's an interesting matchup from that standpoint.
- 50:35SPEAKER_00: I don't know that I have a super strong feeling on on which way it's gonna go.
- 50:38SPEAKER_00: I have to go either way.
- 50:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I have no idea who's gonna win this game at all.
- 50:43SPEAKER_03: I I mean, if you if gun to my head, I'm gonna take Bama at home, you know, but really just because it's in Tuscaloosa.
- 50:49SPEAKER_03: But um, you know, I I think obviously losing Tate Ratledge there, uh all and Georgia's um all-American offensive guard really hurts.
- 50:56SPEAKER_03: I really think people don't realize how much Carson Beck misses Ladd McConkey and Brock Bowers.
- 51:03SPEAKER_03: I don't think he has the rapport.
- 51:05SPEAKER_03: I know I'm not saying Georgia doesn't have weapons.
- 51:07SPEAKER_03: Let's be honest, it's Georgia, they've got weapons, especially in the run game.
- 51:10SPEAKER_03: I just I don't think they have the safety valves.
- 51:12SPEAKER_03: I don't think this Carson Beck has really hit his stride with his new guys yet.
- 51:16SPEAKER_03: Um, and I think Alabama's a little bit more dynamic with Jalen Millow, Ryan Williams is obviously a revelation.
- 51:21SPEAKER_03: Um, I think this game is going to be physical.
- 51:23SPEAKER_03: I think they've got NFL guys all over the field on both sides of the ball on both teams.
- 51:28SPEAKER_03: Um, I'm just gonna take the home team because in college football, that tends to be worth something.
- 51:33SPEAKER_03: But like I have no confidence in my pick on that one.
- 51:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, I could see I could see this playing out where either team wins this game.
- 51:41SPEAKER_00: Maybe if there's a rematch down the road, the other the other team wins.
- 51:44SPEAKER_00: It's it's kind of a toss-up in my mind.
- 51:46SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, I just it I think it's gonna be fascinating to watch.
- 51:50SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be a fantastic game.
- 51:52SPEAKER_00: I I agree with you.
- 51:53SPEAKER_00: I would take the home team in this case, just because in my mind it is kind of a pick'em.
- 51:57SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, no super strong feelings one way or the other.
- 52:01SPEAKER_00: Just can't wait to watch.
- 52:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's gonna be absolutely fun to watch.
- 52:03SPEAKER_03: Um, our quick shout-out um to we're not gonna pick any of these games.
- 52:06SPEAKER_03: I just want to talk about really quick.
- 52:07SPEAKER_03: Um, quick shout out for all the night owls this on week uh five.
- 52:11SPEAKER_03: There are three games that kick off after 10 o'clock Eastern that all could be fun.
- 52:16SPEAKER_03: Wazoo at Boise State, Boise State minus seven.
- 52:18SPEAKER_03: You got the Ashton Genty show.
- 52:19SPEAKER_03: If you want to tune into that, that's sweet.
- 52:21SPEAKER_03: Uh Arizona, Noah Fafita, and Tutori McMillan, two absolutely done offense at Utah, Utah minus 12 and a half.
- 52:28SPEAKER_03: Uh, very interesting game.
- 52:29SPEAKER_03: Oregon, uh, obviously Dylan Gabriel and the Oregon uh show uh at UCLA.
- 52:34SPEAKER_03: So if you're a night owl and you are find yourself at post-midnight, so watch college football, you got three decent choices for games that all could be fun and could involve teams and characters and players that could be very well in the Heisman in the playoff, the G4 playoff spot.
- 52:49SPEAKER_03: Like, so I'm just saying, if you're a night owl, this is a good night to be up late, uh watching some good ball.
- 52:54SPEAKER_00: So tongue to yeah, that Arizona Utah game is kind of sneaky.
- 52:57SPEAKER_00: The line's only 11 for Utah.
- 52:59SPEAKER_00: Arizona's shown to be pretty capable, especially on offense.
- 53:02SPEAKER_00: Um that Oregon game, though, that's gonna be a beat down.
- 53:05SPEAKER_00: I think Oregon's starting to kind of figure things out.
- 53:07SPEAKER_00: Um, they're they're this is it's gonna be the Dill and Gabriel show.
- 53:11SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 53:12SPEAKER_03: Very cool.
- 53:13SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 53:13SPEAKER_03: Last game uh we're gonna talk about is uh the Homer.
- 53:16SPEAKER_03: We already talked about uh Virginia attack in Miami because on Friday night.
- 53:19SPEAKER_03: Uh uh South Alabama is coming to LSU.
- 53:22SPEAKER_03: This is the last game before LSU's buy, before obviously the old miss game.
- 53:26SPEAKER_03: Um, I will say um about South Alabama, they've got a really good rush offense.
- 53:29SPEAKER_03: Fluff Bothwell is the uh South Alabama's running back name.
- 53:35SPEAKER_03: He that's that is first team all name team by a shadow of doubt.
- 53:38SPEAKER_03: So South Alabama's got a really good rush offense.
- 53:41SPEAKER_03: Gio uh Lopez, a quarterback, is a very good running quarterback.
- 53:44SPEAKER_03: LSU's had a lot of breakdowns in rushing game.
- 53:46SPEAKER_03: The story for this game is can LSU continue to get better at knowing their assignments, knowing the scheme, and stopping its G4 rushing attack.
- 53:55SPEAKER_03: I mean, LSU's a three touchdown favorites for a reason.
- 53:58SPEAKER_03: Our offense should absolutely just carve up their defense.
- 54:00SPEAKER_03: But if you're watching anything, um, it's gonna be LSU's defense, ability to play sound, responsible assignment football.
- 54:06SPEAKER_03: And can they shut down South Alabama?
- 54:08SPEAKER_03: I'm not gonna pick this game because I don't, you know, I know we're gonna win.
- 54:11SPEAKER_03: Whether we win by 14 or 42 doesn't really matter, but that's what you're watching in that game.
- 54:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 54:16SPEAKER_03: Uh very cool.
- 54:18SPEAKER_03: Uh okay, so our the Mike Blitz bet of the last thing before we get out of here.
- 54:22SPEAKER_03: Last thing, uh, the Mike Blitz bet of the week.
- 54:25SPEAKER_03: Kansas State minus four and a half, BYU money line at Baylor, Illinois plus 18, Oklahoma minus two at Auburn, Indiana at home, minus seven, Colorado UCF over, no defense, 62 and a half.
- 54:39SPEAKER_03: The Alabama Moneyline to seven-leg parlay.
- 54:43SPEAKER_03: Bet$10 to win$1,279.
- 54:47SPEAKER_03: That's what we're doing this week.
- 54:48SPEAKER_03: We're gonna win$1,300 this week, Mike.
- 54:50SPEAKER_00: Everybody's getting steak dinners.
- 54:51SPEAKER_03: Everyone's getting steak dinners.
- 54:53SPEAKER_03: Uh, so feel free to tail us on that.
- 54:55SPEAKER_03: We'll post that on the uh Discord and our story.
- 54:57SPEAKER_03: So we'll get so if you didn't catch that, I'll show you the uh the bet recei.
- 55:00SPEAKER_03: Seven leg parlay for the Mike Blitz bet of I'm feeling good about this one.

- 55:05SPEAKER_00: I love all the picks.
- 55:06SPEAKER_00: Last week we had a little juice going.
- 55:09SPEAKER_00: Uh this week, this week, I like it.
- 55:11SPEAKER_00: Feel really good.
- 55:12SPEAKER_03: Uh, anything else for the good of the order before we wrap this thing up and get out of here?
- 55:16SPEAKER_00: No, no.
- 55:17SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm excited.
- 55:18SPEAKER_00: Let's let's let's get to Saturday.
- 55:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, indeed.

- 55:31SPEAKER_03: See ya.
- 55:36SPEAKER_03: I might get one of those BYU, BYU.
- 55:39SPEAKER_03: Just show my solidarity, uh, Jake Blackway.
- 55:43SPEAKER_02: First Jewish quarterback.
- 55:44SPEAKER_03: It's a little weird, but it's just go first Jewish quarterback in BYU history.
- 55:49SPEAKER_03: That's that's something else.
- 55:50SPEAKER_01: Go.
- 55:52SPEAKER_01: Hey, Hollywood go, hey, Hollywood go.
- 55:58SPEAKER_01: Go.
