- Aaron: Howdy howdy and welcome back to Run After Cast, the college football podcast. I'm your usual host, Aaron, joined by my two co-host, Chandler. Chandler: Gentlemen. Spliting up the order. I like that. Aaron: And Ryan. I know it. I I realized it right as I did it. Ryan: Hey guys. Through loop curball. Aaron: all these episodes in, you know, I was like, it's time for season, time for change. So this is going to be kind of the last off season episode that we have. Like college football is here in a week and I cannot be more excited. Chandler: I mean, we're here. We started this journey in March and we were talking a lot off camera, wondering how we're gonna fill all these episodes and figure out what our flow of the show is gonna be. And now we're a week away and we're back. We're here, college Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: here. It's about to get cooler. the Buffalo chicken dip's about to be out of the oven, coming on the table, eating all the appetizers. Woo! Good time of year, boys. Aaron: My favorite. Ryan: Easy. Aaron: But with our approach to season also meant we got our answers to the AP preseason poll that came out. We had our predictions locked in, and I want to say congratulations to Ryan. Our champion guesser. So officially won our first competition here. Ryan: You know, I've seen enough of these AP people's shenanigans that I could just guess the things Harry's gonna do. You know. Chandler, you Chandler: Clearly, yeah. Ryan: actually you actually could have done well, but like the stuff you're like, I physically can't put B but you're like, I literally can't put BYU up Aaron: But you guessed poorly. Yeah. Chandler: Yeah, if I didn't suck at guessing. Ryan: there. I'll know they're be there, not gonna do it, you know. I had Aaron: Ain't ya. Ryan: to put my ego on the side, put Oregon up there at two. Stuff like that, Chandler: Yeah, you if I didn't suck at guessing, then maybe I would have been better is what he's saying. So, you know, I appreciate Aaron: Y Yeah. Chandler: that. Next year I'll take that into account. No, Ryan, I mean Ryan: No no no no no. You knew the right answer, you just didn't want to do it. You did the Miles Morales method. Aaron: Ha ha. Chandler: like Aaron was saying before we started recording, I I've seen a lot of lists as well And Ryan, I mean, he was going toe to toe with a lot of lists from a lot of different people that I've seen clips of and news articles on. So it was impressive. And you Aaron were right behind him. So I mean I was just it was like you two and then I was like at the basement level, just looking up the up up the trapdoor going, How do I get up there? Aaron: So yeah, we calculated it based off of deviance from the correct guess. So if somebody had a team in a different place, how many spots difference that was? And Ryan pulled an incredibly impressive 31 points off, which sounds like a lot, but if you think like somebody was in seventh down to twelfth, like that's five points there. So being only 31 positions off of the official list, insane. And I was nipping at his heels with only thirty-four. Chandler, remind me what your number was again. I I it was like twice the amount of ours. So I think if you Chandler: you know, I don't have it saved. I don't remember how how far off it was. yeah, no, I d I think Ryan: Actually I actually didn't know Chandler: you I Ryan: what it was. Chandler: I think you're looking at the wrong list. I I think mine Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: was like maybe thirty seven or so. I I mean it was it was pretty close plus twenty. Aaron: Yeah, yeah. Plus both of our scores combined. but no, it is it was fun. I I'm glad we got like a little short form, which also means we're gonna have our first punishment. for that mean I will be joining Chandler. I think for our first one, the losers have to band together here, face the music, and guys, do we have a lockdown on our first official punishment? Ryan: No, I kept saying it should be an eating punishment, but I like eating, so maybe we should save that one. But I can't even eat anything, so Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. So so we have some ideas. So expect very soon to see a video of me and Chandler either eating enough of something, that we don't want to eat anymore, or some kind of other, you know, humiliating thing for a person my age to be doing. But it it's very fun, you know, with the AP coming out, like I would say it was gonna be we originally had planned for it to be the topic of this episode, but we were strangely so close that it didn't really feel like we would be able to say a whole lot that we didn't say in the episode. So it is something there weren't a lot of surprises. Like did you guys have anything that really stood out to you? Chandler: No, I think the only thing for me was Clemson not being on there at all. I mean, I understand like they haven't been as performative as they should be or expect to be the past couple of years. But that's still been a team since like the early teens that they've been in the AP top twenty-five and s not seeing them on there feels like it's one of those core foundational AP twenty five teams that should be on Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: there but aren't. But like I said, I I don't think they live up to a top twenty five team, at least as of recently, because of what they've done on the field. So I understand why they're not on there, but it's crazy to think that like a SMU or a Utah or somebody could be considered better than them. But who knows, maybe they are. I don't know. Aaron: Yeah, and Ryan: See, but tell get better. I was like I think they love them so much they'll put them on there. I put low though, 'cause I didn't think they should be on there. Aaron: It it is something that I know when we did the show, I was like, Clemson's always on there whether or not they should be. And then it happened, like, because I like genuinely didn't believe it could that they'd be left off the list, even though I know they were first in of votes received after that. So, you know, the twenty sixth place, but it doesn't count because they're not on the list. Yep. And Chandler: Yep, good thing it's not AP top twenty six. Aaron: now I'll say I do hope this is some fire in the belly for the Clemson team. Like I hope this is like a this is something that gives them that push because raw talent, there's a case to be made for them being on the list. I mean, it is something that they have had the talent. There's just been some disconnect from a little while of the past few years, where just things aren't working out the way they should be. And We'll see if they show up with that or in worst case, does it defeat before the season begins? Does that take a poison into the locker room that you don't need when you're down? Chandler: Good thing is, we'll know very soon when they play LSU. They're gonna op they're coming out the gates Aaron: Yeah. Yeah, that'll be that'll be an opener. Chandler: quick. So we're gonna know real quick if Clemson is gonna use that as fuel or continue to show why they're not a top twenty-five team. Ryan: It's gonna be bad. Aaron: Now, I will say, to give myself some kudos here, I was so thrilled reading through that list to see Missouri at twenty fifth. I was betting the house on that one, really spoke with confidence, and it happened. So even though it meant second place, for the rest of the list, I'll take that one as a personal victory. Ryan: It was good, it was good. I like Missouri. Aaron: But I think the other thing that I was excited for, I saw UNLV getting votes and listeners of the show know I've been riding hard for UNLV and Virginia Tech also got some votes. So my my underdog predictions are looking good right now. I'm feeling good. We'll see if they hold true. But feeling good. Chandler: What you guys don't know is Aaron is actually one of the thirty journalists on the AP poll committee. So he's been funneling inside information this whole time and making these sneaky sneaky pics like and then all of a Aaron: I'm like offering bribes, yeah. Chandler: sudden it's coming full circle. So Aaron: Yeah, you know, like, Hey, I got five dollars if you'll just throw your vote in for UN LB. Ryan: Just give it your twenty fifth one, yeah. Chandler: Just let me show up on that list on ESPN. Aaron: Yeah, yeah. So yeah, I I'm gonna keep watching Those are definitely some games in my personal wheelhouse that I'm gonna be rooting for this year. But what about you guys? Did you see anything like in the votes receive section that you were excited to see? Anything stand out to you? Ryan: Auburn's on there. Had a couple Aaron: I did see Auburn was on there and I was like, Good for you gu I noticed Mississippi State wasn't. Ryan: Yeah, thank you thank you for the couple, but Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: Twofold here. I was shocked to see Florida deep on that. But also the AP poll says like a little disclaimer, they're like, hey, we don't do the preseason hype, we don't do past performance of last season, like this is all an independent list, we don't do any external factors. Great. Like it's not a utopia, like there's of of course external factors. But with all the preseason hype, and again I know that they don't do that apparently, but with all the preseason hype you would expect Florida to be pretty high up that list. So I was kind of shocked to see them not have received as many votes votes as like a Clemson or somebody else. Like I feel like they could be have the same kind of argument as a Clemson. Ryan: See, I feel like Florida actually has hype and Clemson does not. They Clemson's Chandler: Agree. Agree. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: off their old old hype. But I did notice there was a few teams that had like were like terrible and had like one vote and I'm like that guy went to that school giving Aaron: Ha ha ha ha. Ryan: him like a charity vote. Like, what are you doing? Chandler: Yeah, yeah. I'll put Colorado State in there. They they they they returning their punter. Ryan: Yeah, it's like it's like no, you you just went to the school, you know? Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: It is funny though, I did look it up and I don't know if there's more people, but I think it is like thirty journalists that make up the AP poll board. And I don't know like they obviously don't have affiliation with like schools or they're not supposed to. They might have like some kind of previous tie, but there's just like thirty journalists in the industry that cover college football that make this list. So it's not like Urban Myers on there like throwing out his votes. So I did find that interesting. I didn't know where they got those people from, but it is kind of Interesting that they're just thro thirty journalists in this board. Ryan: I wonder if the guy that made the Jaden Maiava thing was was on there. Y you remember that? Do you play for Lincoln Riley? Chandler: Probably. Probably. He's probably the MVP. Ryan: Yes. Is your Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: team in California? Yes. Chandler: Yeah. Do you have Hawaiian heritage? Yes. Have you ever eaten a Duke's Hawaiian mango barbecue bacon cheeseburger? Yes. Then you, sir, are gonna be a Heisman contender. Ryan: Mm-hmm. But we're putting you at sixth. You physically cannot Aaron: But no, I'm Chandler: Yeah. Ryan: go. Aaron: I I do feel like I do like that little disclaimer of like, you know, hype, all this stuff's going for it. And it's like, but we do have the selections by journalists who are Chandler: Course. Like Aaron: pushing the hype. say I do feel like we were fairly right on the money with like where the votes were gonna go in terms of like it felt like a leaning on like established set teams. Like there wasn't as many like fresh head coach programs. It it wasn't gambles, it was things where it was like these are returning teams, stable teams. that they're gonna they're gonna lean on this year. And you know, there were a couple notable exceptions that we saw some, I think Penn State, Michigan, both as kind of like who knows how that's gonna go programs. But they they made the list. But I don't remember offhand if we had any other new head coaches that were there. At least in like the top twenty. Ryan: Not that I'm thinking of. Off the top of my head. Wait, let look. Hold on. Chandler: Utah. Ryan: O Miss, I guess, technically. Chandler: Kyle Whittingham came from Utah or BYU. which one did he come from? Ryan: I thought you said Utah. Chandler: What he one of those two teams is was they were both on there, so that was that was a school that has a new head coach. Aaron: Yeah. I I Ryan: Okay, LSU's thir LSU's thirteen OMS. But those are like Aaron: guess O'Miss was an absolute miss and L S U, I I guess I'm just talking, you know, out of the wrong hole for this this segment because I am just Ryan: No no no no. Aaron: wrong. Ryan: But you were like those ones are so obvious, you know, I'm gonna pick Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: the ones that aren't obvious. You know what I'm saying? Y they're so obvious you looked over Chandler: No, Aaron's just wrong. It's okay. No participation trophy. Aaron: Yep. Yeah. It's okay. I can be wrong. I'm not part of the Raction News team. So Ryan: Call me call me the Blackerby of Aaron. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: I'll talk good about you all day. Chandler: There you go. Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: Yeah y yeah you will. Aaron: But yeah, no. so yeah, I'll go ahead and say I deserve to be the loser of the A P poll prediction here. because a Chandler: But you weren't. I was. Aaron: Yeah, yeah, that's true. And I Chandler: Yeah. Aaron: can't even remember what teams are on there. So no, no, it was fun. I as much as I was like, We don't need an A P preseason poll, there's that little spark in me as soon as I came out that I was like, We're talking football. It just That ramp up, this these weeks leading into the season are just like it's like the lead up to Christmas for me. I'm so excited. Ryan: Building excitement. I like it. Aaron: yeah. Yeah. Even as a Mississippi State fan. So I I I've even noticed my mentality over where we started in the show to now where I'm like, maybe we've got seven and five in us. That'd be great. And we'll see if I feel the same way week six. So Chandler: And a little peek behind the curtain, we have a Rack College Football Fantasy and Aaron is riding Comario Taylor as his starting quarterback and on his team. And he's projected the highest amount of points out of all Aaron: Ha ha. Chandler: the players in our league for week one. So, I mean, Aaron could be onto something. This Mississippi State hype train Aaron: That could be. Chandler: could be could be a real thing. Aaron: Yes. And so yeah, we c we do have a college football fantasy that we're all part of with some friends. And I don't know how to play fantasy football. it's my first time. So I'm probably gonna win the whole thing. And Chandler: Ha ha. Aaron: definitely, definitely rub it in y'all's faces. But no, I'm excited to do that. We'll definitely keep you guys updated on who beat who in terms of us three, how we're doing, and What the losers have to do by the end of the season, Chandler: Aaron and I are week one matchup. We're going toe to toe week Aaron: We are Chandler: one. Aaron: yeah, so it'll be exciting. But another thing for us to keep an eye on in the college football world, but yeah. in terms of wrapping up the AP poll, like I said, I just feel like we said a lot of what we needed to say last week. I feel like it wasn't a bad list, it definitely as an official one, weren't a lot of surprises other than Clemson. and all that didn't feel bad. Nothing felt terrible on that list. you know, people can argue over those last ten slots all day, but that's all gambling anyway. None of that none of that's gonna matter in two weeks. But we'll definitely we'll definitely see. We'll compare that when the first official list comes out and see how things are sliding. if things were right, if things were wrong. So that'll be stuff we talk about as we get further in. But before we kick over to our main topic this week, which I'll expand on after we get done with our Raction News team break, let's see what's going on in the last week before season starts. Chandler: So in to wrap up our whole off season of court junctions and lawsuits and all kinds of shenanigans in the legal world of college football, it's only fitting and poetic to end the off season with another court battle that all these players that went in after this five for five rule was passed, that had a fifth year of eligibility, that did not use their fifth year, that were undrafted free agents, have decided to come back and are allowed to come back to college football. And not only do that, they were originally having to go back to their own team, but now they can enter the transfer portal and they can go on to another team of their choice that picks them up. Literally a week before the season starts. So all these people there's a transfer portal window open right now with players in the portal from Notre Dame, from FSU, Tommy Castellanos, all the all kinds of different people are in the transfer portal right now a week before season. So I can only imagine how that's going. But it's it's a wild story. But I'm I'm glad that that was the last one that we're gonna talk about before college football because it just it just ties the bone up perfectly, man. I'm excited for football. Aaron: Really did. Chandler: Let's get into it, man. Ryan: It represents this this era of called triple very well. Chandler: Yes. Just tomfoolery around money and in lawsuits. It like Aaron: Just yeah. I i insanity. It it's crazy. Like, hey, you think we'll see Bobby again? he's back. Chandler: Well like t Tommy Castellanos, right? Who Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: right now r not out of just being funny, but genuine question for both of you. Who right now d has a non-solidified QB one in Power Ryan: Vanderbilt. Chandler: Four college football that Tommy Ryan: Foda. Chandler: Castellanos could go play for? Both of them have already named Ryan: Florida Vanderbilt. Chandler: po they've both already named QB ones. Ryan: They don't have a quarterback. They physically named a starter but they don't have. Chandler: That's what I'm saying. People who who's not named a starter yet that they can go plug into. Nobody's picking him up. Nobody's p yeah, there we go. And he's already beaten Aaron: Yeah. Yeah, I was gonna say Alabama. I mean Ryan: Technically Alabama. Chandler: him once, so he knows the recipe. Ryan: I'd be glad if he went there, yeah. Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: But see like like I I just don't understand how that's gonna work. You have a better chance of just going to make a tiny check on your team that you already left, like than like Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: having to find a player or team to pick you up. Maybe a linebacker Aaron: I Chandler: like some other position group could be better off, but quarterback, no shot. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: Goat Ashton Daniels went to Florida State, so he Chandler: Exactly. Ryan: can't go back there. Aaron: It is Chandler, as you said, it is like a cherry on top of a chaotically legal battle offseason where I felt like it just was every month some weird thing. And it's like we just got off the Jaden Daniels train, which I don't think we've heard the end of. Like I a Chandler: No. Aaron: lot of people have come down really hard on him. It's goofy, like I said, very funny headline. But I think that's gonna be something that we keep seeing layers start develop on, depending on if they just pay him off or not. But if they don't, I think we'll see some stuff come up in court that will be very interesting. But this to me is like we can argue NIL, we can argue transfer portal and what it's doing to the game. It's not all great. but this right here, this offseason in the like judges just showing up and being like, hey, we We're dictating the rules now is so bizarre and so detrimental. Like to me, this is one of those things that like you read and your blood starts getting hot. Like I was like, this is insane that one judge out there is like NCAA doesn't matter. I'm gonna change the rules. Like Chandler: Yeah. Aaron: this feels kind of like a concrete foundation of like, hey, a player makes that choice when they think they're ready to go to the draft. And that is kind of the end of their college career. that is that moment where some people choose to stay an extra year, some people go in early. And like that's part of the gamble. When you think you have the best position to go in, you go and not everyone makes it. Like it is it is a threshing machine there. It's like the the cream of the crop goes to the top there. So I feel like this is caused way too much chaos. In terms of like, can now every player every season that's draft eligible just go to the draft and then show back up and have a free transfer option to say like, okay, like I'm gonna go shoot my shots, see if I get the NFL contract, and then I'm gonna come back if it doesn't. Because legally, that's the premise that we've laid down. And I can't, I can't Chandler: Insane. Insane. Aaron: comprehend that. Ryan: It is crazy though. It seems like we're making all these rules so that we depend less on the court, but then the court's just making their own decisions now. So they literally kinda did it for nothing. But Aaron: Yeah, Chandler: I mean Tommy Cassianos goes in, hey Mr. Judge, that has all kinds of FSU memorabilia in your garage that you pull into every night. Can you let me come back and play? Aaron: Well, I I mean, every team has to have a lawyer they trust. Probably, you know, the Chandler: Yeah. Aaron: twelfth man of every team is their team lawyer. and not only just one, but I'm sure there's a whole fleet of You don't think that they don't have connections upon connections and upon like, hey, this is the guy I'd put this in front of. You know, you have those kind of legal networks. That we have. I mean, we saw it in the Soresby case. We saw all this stuff come down. And to me, like, I am not gonna raise the flag of the poor old NCAA. Like, they're not the best. they're not some, you know, street urchin that's being, you know, left out in the cold. It but it is kinda crazy that they're like, hey, here's this game that we've kind of made some rules for, that we expect people to follow, and then like a legal precedent is set that's like, hey, we don't have to that. And they're like, well, I guess I don't know how to play this game anymore. Chandler: They got Harvey Specter from Suits rolling in deep for their Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: their their lawyer of choice, just winning every case. Ryan: Yeah, but it's like it's like you have like some civilization, you're like, I don't want rules anymore. And the NCAA finally decided to do something. They're like, NC g go away. We don't want you anymore. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: We wanna live like this forever. But did you see Swamp Kings? They owned the police department. They had all the judges. Every time something happened, didn't happen. here's a lawyer. You know? Throw it under the rug. Chandler: Yeah. Aaron: Yeah, and that's Chandler: Well Aaron: that's exactly what I mean. Is like they've got to be deeply connected and I'm sure it's not a huge world. Chandler: Well, there's like on the money same avenue, there's I think four or five and probably more, but on an article I read forty plus million dollar rosters in N I L evaluation this year. And like two years ago it was like when Ohio State won it was like twenty and like wow Ohio State has a twenty million dollar roster, no wonder they won. Now two years later it's double than now they have forty plus. And like Texas and LSU and all these guys are predicted to have up up to like fifty million dollar rosters. So it Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: there's so much money going around and where money is, problems ensue. And we're just gonna keep seeing it because I don't think you can put the NIL cat back in the bag. It's impossible. Aaron: No, no. It's the only thing we can do is regulate. You cannot undo this. Like Chandler: No. Aaron: it's there. And like I said, I don't want to punish the players either. Like, I don't want the kids that are putting in the time to not make anything. I just think, you know, A, no one's forcing the colleges to pay that amount of money. Nobody's forcing Tennessee to hand over money to somebody who isn't even playing for their team. It's like this crazy number is inflation. On the upper side, not on the lower. And now don't get me wrong, agents agents are involved. I mean, they're driving this stuff, you know. You know, media stories are coming out, and they're calling first first thing is they've gotta have just some kind of intern that's sitting next to a phone all day that's taking every agent's calls. It's like, did you see my boy this weekend? Think he deserves twenty Chandler: Yeah. And that guy's probably Asian. Aaron: more million. And it is it to me, it's like we have an issue. The NCAA needs to come up with some regulation on that. That's fine. But I can just imagine there's some poor like paralegal on these teams just Chandler: Yeah. Aaron: every week working on like some draft to be like, if the player comes here, they're gonna sign away their future name and likeness for team based captured. material because the Jaden Daniels thing and like every week they're having to just like scrap it and start over and like they change what this week? This is insane. It's like we're gonna have to have some players signing over and agreeing to these kind of terms of like I will agree to follow the NCAA guidelines as written and not challenge them legally unless unfairly, you know, the out of the written rule. enforced and yep. Ryan: Appealed. Aaron: Yep. And it's like we're gonna have to have some kind of baseline entry signings that are gonna help protect the sport at this point. That it's like, okay, we can't just keep pouring money. I mean, there's something where it's like, you know, I I was just reading on some, you know, who knows side of football, where it's like, hey, states are starting to pour money into NIL and it's like, nope, don't take tax rep. Like State taxes need to stay away from NIL because the right now this is a bottomless pit that is just going to keep absorbing resources until a cap or a patch is put over this thing. Chandler: Ooh. Ryan: See it's so funny though to think that Mr Beast thought a hundred million dollars was so much and so did we and now it's like Well they're only gonna g I'm getting two million here or I get four and go to ECU. That's not worth it. He's only giving double. It back then it's Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: like I'm giving you five times more than you are at your school right now. Aaron: I do remember that that clip when that went out, like the comments, because I said like I don't think a hundred million does anything. I think we're talking closer to a billion. And the people were like, a billion, that's what you're saying's Ryan: Mm-hmm. Aaron: crazy people stuff. And now I'm I I feel a little vindicated on those comments. Chandler: Well yeah, because like a billion throughout all of the coaching staff and the facilities and the training equipment and the all of that. Yeah, I mean it i there's multiple hundreds of millions of dollars of state and just in stadiums. Like yeah, of course. But speaking Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. But Chandler: of patches and tying a bow in the off season, how about Georgia? Signing a progressive insurance deal for their feel logo. How incredible is that? You can't write a better story than a car insurance company sponsoring the leading team in speed and aggression on the on the interstates. Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: I mean that's that's incredible. Ryan: If the shoe fits If the shoe fits, put it on. I also think they're sponsored by Lamborghini. I'm pretty sure Carson Beck had a Lamborghini from Georgia and it got stolen out of his garage when he went to Miami. But they're sponsored by car they're giving him the car and then they get the speeding tickets and then they have Chandler: Perfect. They should have had progressive. And insurance. Ryan: when they crash the car, they have insurance on it for progressive. Chandler: I mean they're full it's just a full circle thing. It's it's so great. I was sitting next to Ryan Aaron: That's so funny. Chandler: in the gym and I was like this is this is gold that this came out in the man the field logo on Georgia progressive insurance. Aaron: Yep. Yep. I mean they might as well just have a speed limit sign logo. Just like cross through. Yeah. It it's like Chandler: Or like tire tracks through it. Yeah. Ryan: Telling you Aaron: it's crazy. Ryan: I'm telling you, they gotta make the Athens Autobahn. Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: It needs to happen. man. Ryan: It already is, just take the speed limits down, Kirby, and your players won't get in trouble anymore. Aaron: Or y at this point, just high speed rail. Like get rid of the roads, put between dorms to the stadium, just a ride there. You gotta take away the keys, Kirby. Like it's a problem for ya. Chandler: And then you can ensure the high speed rail with progressive. Aaron: Yep. Yep. Progressive. Hey, they they offer all kinds of things. But we're not gonna go into it because our field isn't sponsored by Progressive. So, but it could be. You could sponsor us. Ryan: I do I do think they bundle home and auto. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: Something like that. What is it? Something like that. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: One of my home and auto. Aaron: Yeah, I don't know if we're gonna get a funnier one. I know we're gonna get a terrible one. Like I said, that's my Chandler: It just works perfect. Aaron: next year, like we're gonna get a a team and fan base that is horrifically embarrassed by the deal they strike. But yeah, there is that one that's a comedic writer taking on sporting events here. That writes itself. Chandler: Yeah, there's an internet progressive spike. I got an idea. This is it. Yep. Aaron: Got I did the meme. Yeah. But I think for our last preseason news here, maybe our last preseason news, I think that wraps it up, right? I think we're everybody's kind of batting down the hatches here and focusing on game one. Ryan: Can't believe we've came this far. this is interesting, but it's an exciting moment that we get to go on to new things. Like a football season. Chandler: I believe that's a that's a that's a cum Aaron: Mm-hmm. But as we wrap up the off season, we head into the new season. We're all excited. We're all feeling it. And Ryan pitched before the show, instead of talking about the AP poll, why not bring something a little more positive in here? Why not bring some passion, some love for the sport? Just all around set us off on the right foot into week one by talking about some things we love, parts of the sport. that mean something to us. And the way we came up with that we would honor that would be we wanted to talk about an important legacy player to us in college football. And that goes from anybody that played from a year ago to anyone that played, you know, in the prehistory times. So we just wanted to just highlight some past college football players. That we wanted to drop the spotlight on. Chandler: Yeah, say a say a time frame from say nineteen eleven to twenty twenty five. Aaron: Yeah, I'd say in between there is a good fit for what we're looking at. Ryan: And surprising for me, I know, no negativity this week. No one's team's getting Yeah, no one's terrible. Aaron: Yeah, yeah, you can't say they're terrible. You've only dropped one terrible so far. Ryan: No one's terrible this week. Chandler: When we get Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: our studio we're gonna have sound cues that we're gonna have Yeah. we can have so much fun, yeah. Aaron: Well we'll have a counter, a terrible counter per episode. Yeah. Ryan: Or bad. Negative connotation counter. Bad meh. Aaron: So Ryan, I know your picks in the middle here, in between early and recent. What would you want to start off with? More recent or back in the day? Ryan: Let's go let's go early and let's work let's work up. 'Cause I'm guessing Channel's is closer to now from what y'all were joking about. Chandler: Yeah, yeah, it's it's it's it's fair to say that. Aaron: Okay, so I'm kicking us off then. I'm kicking off Legacy with a true Legacy player. And I may argue one, if not the most important, football player, play the sport. The sport, go for it. Chandler: Can I guess who you're say? Heisman. Aaron: No, it is not Heisman. Ryan: Ken Houston? Aaron: A Heisman winner, but not Heisman. Ryan: Is it the first Heisman winner? Is it Chandler: Isn't that Ryan: Ken Houston? Chandler: Mr. Heisman himself? Isn't he the creator of Heisman? Is that not how that worked? Ryan: He actually coached here, by the way. If you watched the trivia video. Aaron: That's how that's why he knows this. Chandler: Yeah. Aaron: no, we have to go to our Notre Dame fans to get the knowledge on deep history of football. You know how much they love their history. Chandler: Okay. Yep. Aaron: but no, I'm gonna Ryan: Jim Thorpe. Aaron: say right on the money, I'm going with Jim Thorpe. Ryan: that's good. Aaron: I I just think we'd be remiss if we're talking legacy players without talking Jim Thorpe. Maybe of his time, one of the greatest athletes to do it. you know, multi sport, first president of the NFL, part of the founding commission. Just a great just great story, I think. I I really enjoy it. Ryan: So funny. Chandler: Following this is gonna gonna be so bad. This this is this is Aaron: yeah, yeah. So we did briefly discuss, make sure we didn't have any overlap. So I do know Ryan: yeah. Aaron: I I knew when you told me I didn't mention Chandler: We're going from chip thorough. Aaron: it because I knew I was doing you dirty here. So yes. Yes. Ryan: No, let's surprise the viewers. Viewers, if you think this is bad, wait till Chandler talks. Chandler: Who Aaron: Yeah. But no, no, Jim Thorpe, crazy story. Love it. I mean, ever like I will say in the world of sports and most history, I'm drawn to no comment on someone's intelligence but forest gump stories. People that have like any part of their story where it should be the end, because that's a normal person's life of like that's a hugely important life. It's just one small side story. Jim Thorpe is up there of absolute like just probably a dozen lives that he lived and all of them at the top of their game. But in in baseball like I'm a Ruboad L kind of guy. same thing of like just craziness after craziness. But I would say Jim Thorpe's kind of the like inverse Rhuboisel of like very talented, very smart. Just all around great athlete that had a bunch of wild stories that goes through it. But you know, to kick it off, just playing those early years of football, those you know, nineteen, pre nineteen tens, Heisman winter in nineteen eleven. played college ball for Carlisle and you know in like this was like the Wild West football years. Yeah. Where it's like this was where schools had just names all over the place, like Doctor School and then your Ryan: Ha ha. Aaron: team has a record of playing like Doctor School and then they beat them. but no, it it's just you know an Olympic gold medal winner with shoes that didn't match or fit because somebody stole his shoes right before the event. Then the gold medal's taken away because he played baseball for money. previously in in the 1912 Olympics. So the year after his highs when he went and participated in the Olympics. And that is a crazy Olympics. If you want a deep dive for a day, you got a long drive, listen to some stuff on the 1912 Olympics. Thing was in chaos the whole way through. But No, like I said, founding committee for founding committee for the NFL, first president of the NFL, not only that, but somebody at that time as a Native American first person descent, direct descent, going through that, it was crazy. I mean, lined up his whole life going in, you know, in the indigenous schools that were a whole not as fun of a story. To go through, but I just I think when I thought Legacy, Jim Thorpe's first guy thing is like absolute inspiration for an athlete. Ryan: You probably h picked like the most historical football figure, you know, front frontiered football. Aaron: Yeah, yeah, like I I really can't think of somebody like football as we know it does not look this way without Jim Thorpe's influence. Chandler: And we wanted to highlight the energy around college football and the just authenticity of college football, the hype around it just year in and year out, and playing on the defensive side of the ball, that's where all the energy is. I mean, the defense sets the tone for every single game, game in and game out. So to have that kind of guy have that kind of legacy and be on the defensive side of the ball, create the defensive back player of the year, defensive back of the year? award? I mean incredible. Aaron: Just all kind one of my favorite things is I don't know if this part's right, but I believe one of the only players to punt the ball, run down the field, catch his own punt, and then take it for a touchdown before the dead ball rule. So has a self-caught punt for a touchdown in his stat line. So a bunch of crazy stuff like that, because this was definitely back when football was just people fighting. And there was a ball involved. Ryan: So they implemented that rule so that Jim Thorpe couldn't do that anymore, is what I'm hearing. Aaron: Probably. They were like, we can't keep having that happen. We didn't think people could run that fast. Ryan: That's actually so tough. And a defensive Heisman. Love that. Chandler: Yeah. I mean, and Aaron: So Chandler: he's paving the way for N. I. L. pay getting paid to play baseball. I mean, all I mean he was he's pioneering it from the be get go. NIL was, you know, that was nineteen eleven feet there. Now fast forward Ryan: Yeah. Chandler: a century. Ryan: You used to have to be a an amateur though to go to the Olympics. Aaron: Yeah, and that that was the Chandler: Immature. Aaron: whole that's why both his gold medals from the nineteen twelve Olympics were stripped. after a Heisman year, yeah. Ryan: Dang. But two gold medal football players go and win two gold medals, you know, that's insane. Aaron: There's another great story about him like seeing track and field. Like he kinda has in his very early he just saw football and he's like, This is neat, I'm gonna do that. and they were like, You're not gonna play. Like, you're not big, you're not gonna you're not fit in this team. And so he kind of just like hung around. He Pulled a Rudy where he's just like, I'm just gonna keep saying I want to play. But then he saw like track and field doing something, never saw high jump before, and was like, I'm gonna try that out. I'm gonna do that. And then went where they were practicing, just like does a run-up, jumps over it, like cleans it, and sets the school record on his first attempt at a high jump. So it's just one of those things where like some people are gifted from birth. in terms of like athletic ability. Like I'm not one of those people. I wasn't born smart, wasn't born talented, wasn't even born particularly good looking. But I got Jim Thorpe to look up to. So So to bring us, I'll say we could go to the middle here, but I think it's less funny, because you did lose Ryan: Mm-hmm. Aaron: so bad at Dessing that I really just want to put you in a vice right now and say, Who'd you pick, Chandler? Who's your legacy player? Who Chandler: So Aaron: deep history are we going into? Chandler: I I don't even know how to how to back this up. Because I I wanna say that I didn't know it was gonna be a legacy player and I just already had this list, which is almost true. I was finishing this list as we created the legacy player and then current player, but I was like, I already made it and he's not playing anymore. So technically he is a legacy player. Aaron: Ha ha. Chandler: And I didn't realize we were gonna come out the gates with Jim Thorpe, so this is just a horrible follow on. So I'm gonna take us way back to the early twenty twenty three era to twenty twenty five. And at a great school of Ohio State University. Sonny Styles. The line back Aaron: my grandpa used to tell me stories about him. Ryan: Wait at the twenty twenty three in there to make it seem like it was longer ago. It was last year. What are we doing? Chandler: Yeah, mean it real Aaron: It was like when Ryan was born. Chandler: man. Yeah, so doesn't have an award after him. Didn't win the Jim Thorpe Award. Caleb Downs did, who also played at Ohio State, pretty cool. But didn't do anything nearly as cool as that either. Aaron: Ha ha. Chandler: So I'm just gonna go ahead and ri read you some things that he's known for off the field at Ohio State. That's just as comparable as Jim Thorpe. He r raised more than forty-three thousand dollars through the sleep out event, which was created for an at-risk and homeless youth in central Ohio. So it's a foundation that was created for yeah, like I said, the at-risk and homeless. And he raised forty-three thousand dollars plus for that. He also helped provide essential items and promoted year-round advocacy for the vulnerable youth that also tied into that program. And then All of that combined earned him a nomination on the twenty twenty five All State AFCA good works team. So all of that to say, you know, Jim Thorpe, Sonny Styles, they could go toe to toe in achievements off the field. Aaron: Same number of gold medals for the Olympics, I think. So but no no Chandler: That's true. Very true. Ryan: Let's get a round of applause though for Sonny Styles. What a guy. What a guy. Aaron: Sonny Styles. Chandler: Yes, yes, yes, yes. Aaron: no, as much as we're giving Chandler a hard time here, we did want to take this opportunity to like point out some players and not necessarily talk about their stats and point out some of the impact that they're having off the field. Because I do think that's important. And I think a lot of players out there who are getting heat, who were getting death threats on X and whatever social media platform because they dropped a ball. There's a lot of players using their platform that they've got for good right now, especially like you know, you just read off a lot of vulnerable people, you know, unhoused people that need that assistance, people in their local area that they are driving that influence towards and raising a lot of money that wouldn't be there for it. So this is something where it's like it's important to remember that. Like a lot of these guys are taking that opportunity to do it, and we want to highlight it. And specifically, we do know that we have some current players that come across our stuff or in a clip or w listen to the show. If you do and you are working for a foundation or have a foundation that you've started, reach out to us. We will s get as much of that out here because anything we can do to help charitable work, we want to, you know, i we're doing this for fun. So let's do some good with fun. Ryan: Sneaky plug, I like it. Aaron: Absolutely. Ryan: And he had one of the best combine performances ever. Aaron: yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. Chandler: He did. He did. He did indeed. Aaron: I mean like in terms of like taking the historical vantage point to somebody recent, but a legacy player, I do think it shows like how much talent has developed in the sport. Like he Sonny's an insane athlete. Like that combine performance is crazy. Like it like the the combine this year I think was just at a different level. And I wouldn't be surprised if next year we even see it crazier. we're just seeing insane talent elevation w what it feels like over the last decade. Chandler: Yeah, so I apologize, viewers, for the lack of research done on my part. But I will say that my current player is a more niche reference. I did do a little more research on it. So I apologize for the lack of effort, but we're gonna kick it to Ryan because I know two out of three, just like SEC to Big Ten, will have a great performance on this show here with our legacy players. Aaron: Ha ha ha. Ryan: Well, you know, I would have done Travion Henderson. I really wanted to do him when I think of a guy that's really great on and off the field. I think of Travion Henderson, but I thought he was in too much of a middle ground. He wasn't legacy or current enough that I skipped over him. Chandler: Yeah, I should have done the same. But floor's yours. Ryan: Alright, well I have mine is from the nineteen eighties. Can anyone guess who it is? Aaron: Did he play at Auburn? I knew that was the case. Chandler: Jackson. Ryan: It is Boja Jackson. And for the people that don't know Boja Jackson and y'all, Aaron: I felt like it was gonna happen. Ryan: I am just going to list off some stuff he did. And let me finish all of the stuff before you say, No, that didn't happen, okay? so I thought Bojax was a perfect example. He was a nineteen eighty-five Heisman Trophy winner. That year, he rushed for 1786 yards and seventeen touchdowns, and he averaged six point four yards a carry. He was a seven foot high jumper in high school, and when he was in high school, the Yankee scout came to scout him for baseball, and him and his coach agreed to hit two balls. The first ball he hit, it knocked the whole banner cage down on top of them, and the coach said, Okay, that's all I need to see and left. Apparently he jumped over a Volkswagen while it was moving. his senior year of college he was hitting four hundred, but then he got tricked by the Buccaneers guy to go visit there and he was unauthorized, so they cut off his season. So instead of going and playing For the Buccaneers, he decided, no, I'm gonna go play for the MLB. He's the only person ever to be an all-star in the MLB and in the Pro Bowl in the NFL. He ran a 413 40 yard dash at his pro day on electronic time at 237 pounds. And even when he when he went to the Raiders later, they didn't believe him. So after practice one day, they made him run another 40 in pads, and he ran a four one nine. And they thought that one wasn't real, so he ran it again and he ran a four-one seven. When he was a rookie on the Raiders, he averaged six point eight yards of carry. He played thirty-eight games in his career and rushed for two thousand seven hundred and eighty-two yards with five and a half yards a carry. But he was splitting carries with Hall of Fame Marcus Allen. Brian Ballsworth was a prominent guy on the Seahawks back then that they Pretty much said he was an immovable force. No one could run through him. That game, he ran for 221 yards, ran through Brian Bodsworth. when he got drafted in the MLB, he said, I'm gonna go take batting practice as the first thing I'm gonna do. He was playing for the Royals. They have a big crown in center field, and he hit it off the crown, which is above their jumbotron, which is about 500 feet. in 1989, he hit leadoff in the All-Star game, hit a home run in front of the president. And then right after that, they went to commercial break and played his own Nike commercial. Then he won the MVP of the All-Star game. In the MLB, he hit 141 home runs. After he got hurt and he came back from baseball, his first at bat, he hit a home run. He would break bats over his head. He would break them over his leg. He would flat foot throw the ball from the fence all the way to home plate. He did it against Harold Reynolds, who's one of the fastest MLB players ever. And these are just some of the things he'd done. And he seems so not real. All of this stuff seems so insane that it's almost like it's a cartoon character that everything that could possibly happen that he would do it. But he's not just a great athlete. Those are stats. but he uses it for good now. In 2011, he made a thing called Bow Bikes Bama after those a bunch of tornadoes that caused a bunch of damage there because he's from Bessmer, Alabama. And they use that, they go ride bikes and they have it to raise money and use it to support the communities. He also fights for colon cancer. His mom died of colon cancer and he got it and beat it. So now he advocates and goes on things to raise awareness for colon cancer. And I think this is just a great example 'cause he's the best athlete ever in my opinion, or he's one of the best athletes. And he uses platform for something bigger than himself now. So I thought that was very, very good. Aaron: I agree. I mean, like, if you're looking for like all timer athletes, absolutely. Like I like there's a couple people and I feel like there's when we say generational players, we throw that term around a lot now. But this is the format for me. Yeah. Chandler: He's a historic player. He's a he's a one of one player. He's a different category. He's the best to ever do it. Aaron: Yeah, like Ryan: Yeah, he was just so so insane, but he just did it for such a short period of time that people overlook him. But he was so dominant during that. Aaron: What and Chandler: Yeah, so we have Jim Thorpe, Bo Jackson, and Sonny Styles. Aaron: That's hey, there's a trifecta right there. And we Ryan: He's in good company. Yeah. Aaron: hey, we haven't seen what Sonny Styles has put up for his career. So he might he might be up there. but no, I I do think like to me when we talk like running backs, like I think we talk Bo Jackson, we get into like the the only comparable in terms of like all timers, we could talk Barry Sanders. And I think both of them Barry Sanders did end up with a longer career, but that is to me The crazy part is that like if we think of guys that dominant to play in the NFL for only like three years, wasn't it, after an injury? like we got to still see it. And I think we're lucky to have seen it. To see somebody get to where they're supposed to be in life. You know, there's a lot of twists and turns and a lot of decisions you can make, and not everybody ends up exactly where they're supposed to be. And it's Bo Jackson ended up in sports and couldn't decide on which one's his favorite, so he just decided to be the best at two. Chandler: Both. Aaron: Yeah. And that to me is crazy to be dominant. Like we've had dual sport athletes at the professional level. But a lot of times there's the primary sport they play and then the backup where I feel like both for both for Bo Jackson baseball and football equal because he was at the peak. Ryan: It's just so sad he couldn't keep playing. It's such like a what if, but we got to see his raw talent. And I just Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: to be that big and that strong and that fast all at the same time, it just seems like so impossible. And it was just so natural Chandler: It doesn't happen. Ryan: to him. It doesn't. Aaron: No, and it in that three years, he still cemented a legacy as an all timer. Like y you're like, if you're a running back and you're showing some great potential, two names come up that they'll compare you to. And it's like Bo Jackson, Barry Sanderson. Like if you get compared to either one of those guys, you are great. Like that it's insane. Ryan: Yeah, name your kid after him. Aaron: Yeah. Yeah, that'll be we'll expect that, I'm sure. that's on your list of names for when Ryan: Ohio State has a running back named Jackson. That's what I said. Aaron: there you go. There you go. I'm sure there's been plenty. I'm sure Alabama littered with them. Ryan: No, they decide not to not to have him go to their school, so he went to Auburn instead. In your face. In your face, school of Alabama. Aaron: I meant the state. yeah. You know. Chandler: He's he's talking with the state of Alabama. Aaron: Take that unnecessary jab. Ryan: Mm-hmm. Aaron: That is sometimes as college football fans that we will with those state teams, like somebody'll say something and be like Texas, I'm be like, I feel like, you know, the hype this year. and they're like, No, I mean the state. And you're like, yeah, that's that's a state. but no. No, and that's something we wanted to kind of we were talking about making this a tradition for the last week of the season where we talked about some things we love, some of our some of the historic stuff. I do like this part. Like I like talking about some of the people off the field, some of these things that mean something to us. Like when we think about this, this is some of the stuff that we've fallen in love with with the game. And before we let you go. No, it's getting to our normal time where we do. We wanted to also end highlighting some people a little newer on the scene and talk about some current players or players that have recently transitioned. Sonny Styles would fall into that category. from college to the Chandler: Mm-hmm. Aaron: NFL. to just just do a shout out. Not necessarily our favorite. Not necessarily anything in that regard, but we wanted to take an opportunity to shout out some people that are using that platform or just great representatives of the sport that make you feel better for being a fan of it. So that will go ahead and get Roland on here. And who wants to go first with their pick? Taylor. Chandler: Yeah. So good, I'll say it again. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: He actually picked someone older than Sonny Styles. This is g I'm just kidding. Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: I'm gonna go back way back to the nineteen fifteen now for my current player. So Aaron: Ha ha ha. Chandler: I'm gonna go over to the ACC and a receiver for Florida State, Deuce Robinson, has been doing some incredible work. I've seen it on social media, I've seen it online, articles written, all kinds of good stuff. He's raised over ten thousand dollars for Special Olympics in Florida. through a charity pickleball event. How much f that's awesome. Just agr it's it's in the now. People are playing it. It's all it's very popular. That's incredible to ra raise five figures in a charity pickleball event. Ryan: Wait, no no. It can't be five. Jane Daniels. Have some respect, buddy. Aaron: Yeah, have some respect. Make it six. Fans get out there, donate. Yeah. Chandler: I'm sorry. Ryan: We're gonna get sued. Chandler: He's also been a big player in youth flag football programs, and I'm a huge advocate of seeing these players go and take their talent and take their love for the game and go and bring that to the youth programs and just share your love and passion with people that look up to you already and just make their day and help them in coaching or practice or doing whatever in that avenue. That's Amazing to see. I don't I feel like you can't put a price on that and that just touches so many different people's lives that you couldn't put into a quantity. He's helped in the winter coat drive in the in the wintertime on Christmas time. He's donated and distributed Thanksgiving turkeys. he has participated in elementary school literacy events. So he's touched a lot of different avenues, not just sports related, but he's done all kinds of great work in the state of Florida and outside of the state of Florida. and Awesome to see. Ryan: Guy. Can we get a round of applause for Deuce Robinson? Come on. Aaron: No, no, that's I like I've never played pickleball before, but I would give it a shot to play at that charity tournament. I bet that's a blast. And you know, it is something. It is making it using that platform, making something fun. As you said, even just getting involved in your local community or this the younger generation showing up, spending time with them, I think is so hugely important and so impactful. And it leads me into my pick, who is a recent NFL player, a local boy around here. But I chose to highlight Wanye Thomas. and the reason I picked Wanye was he did when he first got signed to the Cowboys in his rookie year, he came back home to visit family and put a little clinic on for the local kids. A small, not super press, not anything like that. Just small local event, kids out at the park setting up. And my son was one of the kids that got to do it and is a football fanatic to this day. he spent all day with those kids out there. Just him, his mom was out helping, keeping everything running. It wasn't there was no press. There was no publicity. There was nothing behind it. And the time I spent with them there, you know, it was it wasn't a whole bunch of kids. It was this very small group that got to hang out, spend this time with an NFL athlete. All these kids just had stars in their eyes working with them. And he worked with every in kid individually, gave them so much information, gave them stories. And when we were talking with him, he was so down to earth, so you know, yes, sir, no ma'am, so polite, so absolutely humble about the whole thing that you can't help but just like the guy. And like from that moment I was like, whatever team he's on, I'll be a fan of. And then he came back years later, which this also it the whole Thomas family is amazing. Wanye's brother, Azary, who's over at the Jets now, he came back and was helping out with the Niceville local team. Wanye came back at the same time. This is years down the road. My son's playing for the high school team here, and he's checking in with them from that camp, remembering him there, being like, Hey, let's still work with you. Let's follow up and has kept in touch with so many of those kids. kept that fire alive and them to where like my sons use that as fuel for like I want to play college. Like I want to push for it. And to me, that's that kind of personalized impact that I know somebody's doing with that and taking their time and just being a great inspiration. So yeah, I will root for a team, even the Jets, which feels terrible to say. but I'll root for the Jets if they got a Thomas family member on it. Chandler: let's get a round of Aaron: Okay. Chandler: applause for Wanye Thomas. Ryan: Yes, Juania Thomas. Aaron: So if you're watching NFL this year, which I know some of you freaks out there watching both college football and NFL, you got a whole weekend booked. check out the Colts. Follow Wanye this year. You know, gonna do some great things on the field, gonna have some fun. And I'm sure for a lot of the cowboys haters out there, following the Colts is a little bit better. Ryan: But they're both just like such good people, you know, and it's great whenever we're talking about embracing our love for for football, those guys really love it. They live it every day, you know. They get to come back and share it with the kids and like you're saying, invoke it in your son and these other people. Like that's so great. That's what football's all about. Aaron: Absolutely. And what what we wanted to highlight here, what we wanted to start our season off. But Ryan, we still got your person doing good in the in the world of football. Who'd you pick? Ryan: Alright, you know, didn't pick Auburn. Is that shocking? Aaron: You didn't? Ryan: I didn't. I went I Aaron: That's crazy to me. Ryan: went astray here. I picked Noah Fifada. I think that's how you say his name. From Arizona. he's about as old as Sonny Styles. This year will be his fourth season starting for Arizona as their quarterback. Last year he threw for three thousand two hundred and twenty-eight yards and twenty-nine touchdowns. He also ran for four four and three touchdowns. He lowered his interceptions and twenty twenty four he threw twelve, but last year He only threw six over his whole career there. He's been a starter for three years. He's done for 9,183 yards and 73 touchdowns after starting 34 games in a row. So he's one of the best quarterbacks in the Big Twelve, probably. And and I went to straight here and I picked a Big Twelve quarterback. But not only is he good at football, but in April 2025, him and his brother named Dash. created the first down faith foundation, which is built around faith, family, and football, along with service to young people. And this helps them to use their platform to help people. And they put on a football camp for kids, both boys and girls, and they had forty kids come the first year and then the next year they had ninety and this just allows them to combine football with their mentorship and their faith. he's on the watch list for the twenty twenty six Allstate Warfull Trophy, which goes out for people that do this kind of stuff, like combines the excellence like on the field with stuff like academics and leadership and things, along with community service. Apparently his foundation reports that he has more than three hundred and thirty hours of volunteer work, and they've estimated that they've impacted three thousand five hundred and ninety people. he's in grad school now. He's a leader. His story's more than stats, you know, and that's what you want. He's done it on the field, but off the field, he's done it as well as a student, as a leader, he's a Christian, he's a community servant. what else do you want from him? And he uses his platform. To impact this next generation, And I like these people. We've talked about it all day. That they use their athletic ability and their character and everything, but they demonstrate the perfect kind of example of like how a college athlete can make a positive impact off the field, using their platform for good. Aaron: I I think that's great. Like I I think it's just important to remember when we're sitting here, we're guilty of it too. Scream about NIL, all this stuff getting out of hand, like all this stuff. And we talk about players that are gonna drop balls and they're gonna they're gonna miss big moments, and we're gonna chastise them. And we're gonna say negative things about some of these guys, but in this moment, we just wanna say that we're talking about the stats and player on the field in that moment. And a lot of these guys are taking that full life outside of the game, but using the platform the game provides them to enrich a lot of lives around them, reaching impacts that not everybody gets to reach. And makes you feel great being able to participate in that. So listeners, if you know of a player that's doing something great or it works in your local community, things like that that has just made a positive impact, send it over to us because those are things that we want to shout out as much as we can. Chandler: And w n N I L has a lot of negative rap. always, especially as it grows. But like you said, Aaron, this is how these kids can use this platform for good. Because just as much as money can be a bad and negative impact, it can also be good and have a lot of outreach. And you can use those gifts and those things that you've received in this manner. And you can reach out to these kids and you can have these charities and you can donate all this money and you can have all these different avenues to help and impact all these different lives that are less fortunate. And that's what it's about, like like we've been talking about with this platform. and with the god given abilities to be able to play the sport in general. Aaron: And I think it's also important to remember that due to NIL, a lot of the players that have these foundations came from circumstances similar to the foundations that they're raising for, whether it's a disease that's impacted their life, a diagnosis of a condition, a life difficulty that they come from. NIL's gotten them out of that situation, and then they're not pulling the ladder up behind them. They're looking back to people still struggling at it and providing a support system that they themselves have utilized. And I just think that's the thing that when we think of football, when we sit here as fans, it makes me enjoy the sport more because that is the good. And it's because of their hard work. I mean, we can we can talk about the education, everything else outside of it, but there are players out there choosing to give up their time. To do those things. And some of them very rich now, where they don't have to do any work and still making that impact. So we want to have that rack official shout out to the players we all listed, all the players out there, the coaching staff, the administrations, all that that are impacting their communities this way. Wanted to start off our season with those kind of vibes going into week one before. Before we start, I think Reek One will be safe. But as that season progresses, we start feeling worry, anxiousness, dread of the upcoming week. some teams in this show more than others, but the excitement's gonna be there, the highs, the lows, we're gonna have it. But throughout all of that, there's people making great impacts due to this sport. So shoutouts to all that. We can't wait. to see you all in the next episode, which will be coming up a little bit sooner than usual, because Ryan has pitched a new episode for a twice a week show for us now. So Ryan, take it away and tell the fans what they're gonna expect out of our second weekly episode. Ryan: what we're gonna do, we're changing the format a little. Instead of weekly drops on Monday, to stay more up to date with college football since it's moving around so much in season. We are going to have our normal Monday episode, which will be like the post game things that happen that week and the news and everything like we normally do. Thursday morning, we are going to post this video, and it'll almost be like a a live Pick'ems game, where for example, Chandler can be the host, and me and Aaron would go in blind, not knowing anything, and Chandler could talk about the big games, he's gonna bring it up, ask us what the lines are, we guess them, we say our predictions for games, we talk about big things coming up, it'll be slightly shorter. And then we do that, y'all can play along with us and and guess and react to our takes right in real time almost while you're listening to it. And then we'll watch the games that weekend and then you come back and you can hear our opinions about what we thought and how our assumptions went after we watched the game. Aaron: and the Thursday show, which will be coming out on Friday this week due to some travel based restrictions on recording, this will be also where we kind of announce our scheduled viewing for where our focus is gonna be on that Monday episode. So the Monday episode is gonna kind of stay the way it is now, but just because talking about the games is gonna take up so much of the time that That auxiliary, being able to talk about what we're gonna watch, what what we expect, all that's gonna be done in this kind of pre-game show that we will have. And like like Ryan was saying, full competition. We get to keep doing it. We'll have Chandler as the host as we duke it out. since we know he's bad at guessing, we didn't want to put you all through that kind of suffering. So we're very much looking forward to it. Definitely excited. To have this prediction show. This is something I know I wanted to do, but we've got our rhythms now that we're consistent, we are keeping up to date, we feel confident that we can deliver a second weekly episode, and definitely want to just talk about football as much as we can during the season. So tune in for Chandler: And Aaron: that, look forward to it and take it away, Channel. Chandler: To make it that much better. If for some reason you can't tune into the full episode on wherever you get your podcast, guess what we're also gonna do for you to make it that much more convenient? We're gonna clip each individual line and pick that we're gonna have for each and every Thursday episode and we're gonna post those in individual short form content on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. So if for whatever reason you get busy, can't you work from home and you don't commute that day for work. hop on over to your social media of choice, check out that short form, and you can live react there, interact with us, comment on how bad Aaron and Ryan are at guessing, and how great I am as a host. And if not, Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: then you know, I'm sorry. Aaron: Yeah, and Ryan: He's a great Aaron: it Yes. Ryan: host. Me and Chandler have been playing this game for years off camera, so Chandler: Yes. Aaron: Yeah, it it this is something we do naturally at this point. where we look forward to being able to talk about the prediction side and that's half the fun of football. The other half is talking about it afterwards. So we have that going forward. Also a place where if you have, you know, comments, things like that, feel free to send it over. As Ryan said, it is gonna be shorter, so probably thirty, forty-five minutes between that benchmark. But it'll still leave us some room to interact, get that going. If you have games that you're worried about, looking forward to, send them over to us in a comment on short form, on Spotify for the episode video, YouTube, email, however, you reach out to us, you'll find all of that in the description of the episode in our link tree. So we can keep hearing from you there. All that do interact with that already. Thank you. And you've done so great keeping the show growing. I mean I we'll take a little moment here and just say in this offseason, we kind of started when we pitched the idea of the show. We're like, let's just start in the offseason. Let's cut our teeth when it doesn't matter as much. when we started this, early on, you guys said like by the time seasons gets around, you know, ten to twenty people might listen to the show. we have been absolutely floored at the response and everything like that. It you know, the YouTube views might not reflect it, but the analytics that we get to look at it's crazy. Crazy how much y'all have been out there supporting the show, listening each week. I can't wait to go through the season with y'all. thank you all for the support. It really just blow me away. It's been great. So just absolutely deeply thank you. Ryan: Yes, thank you, and I can't believe how many people listen on Podcast Addict. Aaron: Yeah, yeah. I don't know what it is. I've been podcasting for years. Still don't really know what podcast addict is. but for those of you out there on Podcast Addict, we love ya. But the boys have been streaming on Twitch. They're learning the ins and outs, ups and downs of streaming. So Ryan, why don't you tell the people out there, what's going on over in Twitch and what can they expect? Ryan: Alright, I'll let you know Chandler usually goes live and we will combine with a couple other of our friends play games. We play games like Rocket League, Phasmophobia, College Football, Twenty Seven, all all kinds of stuff, you know. You won't get good gameplay, but you'll get some funny commentary, funny moments. That's about it. So pop over there if you want, maybe hit Chandler with some funny funny comments, maybe put W's in the chat, you know. Aaron: Yeah, spam W's. I don't know a lot of what goes on in chat or anything like that. However, the streams I've tuned into, you guys are very funny. I've had a great time. So if you're interested in any kind of just general gaming and think these two are as charming as I do, check it out. It's a great time. So for those of you out there that are listening that haven't followed us on our social media platforms, please go do that. It helps the show so much. And for those of you that have. Once again, another thank you. But we're gonna be back in the prediction episode, which will technically still be the preseason, but we're gonna count it as start of the season. So tune in this Friday, check out which games we're watching, what we think's gonna go down, enjoy the new episode format. If you have any ideas as a listener, send it over to our link tree information. We will love to hear it. and then Monday we'll be breaking down the first games of the season. Long time coming. Looking forward to it. Can't wait to cover it with you boys. So until next week. Ryan: Bye bye.
