Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Kiss Breakfast. And Amy's got a hit of
- 0:03Speaker 1: celeb news. What's happening?
- 0:05Speaker 2: Yeah, so lately both AFL and the NRL Grand Finals
- 0:08Speaker 2: have been kicking things off with, you know, musical performances.
- 0:13Speaker 1: With major artists.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Just forgot a word then. So lately the AFL, they've
- 0:18Speaker 2: had people like Katy Perry, Snoop Dogg, Robbie.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Williams has performed.
- 0:23Speaker 2: The NRL has had Teddy Swims, the Kid LAROI.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Macklemore was one year.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:29Speaker 1: That was controversial.
- 0:29Speaker 2: So the AFL this year has Kylie Minogue and the
- 0:32Speaker 2: NRL this year has no one.
- 0:34Speaker 3: And don't forget, Unconfirmed reports Robbie Williams will be joining Kylie.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Minogue on stage on Saturday. Unconfirmed is correct. Yeah. So
- 0:43Speaker 1: it's a big deal though.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 0:44Speaker 2: So basically I– unconfirmed also, but I'm pretty sure they
- 0:49Speaker 2: had Tones and I locked in.
- 0:51Speaker 5: Yep.
- 0:52Speaker 2: However, they wanted Tones and I to perform Dance Monkey.
- 0:56Speaker 1: You know, it's her... Yeah, a big hit. It's her number...
- 0:59Speaker 1: It's her biggest hit. It's been streamed.
- 1:00Speaker 2: It says here it's been streamed over 3.5 billion times
- 1:04Speaker 2: on Spotify.
- 1:05Speaker 1: I was working on.
- 1:07Speaker 3: A station when it came out and I resisted playing
- 1:10Speaker 3: it and then it just got.
- 1:11Speaker 1: So big. Do you remember?
- 1:14Speaker 3: It was just everywhere. You couldn't go anywhere without hearing it.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Not sure anyone wants to hear it again.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Well, number one in over 30 countries. And to this day,
- 1:21Speaker 2: it's the longest running number one single ever. In Australia.
- 1:26Speaker 5: Wow.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Here's the clicker.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Tones and I hates it. Yes, doesn't want to perform it.
- 1:30Speaker 2: She loathes the song.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I don't know about that. Hating your own, like Sean,
- 1:35Speaker 1: you're a muso. Hating the thing that made you famous.
- 1:38Speaker 6: I hate to sit on the fence with this one,
- 1:40Speaker 6: but I can see it from both sides.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Yes, so can I.
- 1:42Speaker 6: Because, you know, there are artists over time that like
- 1:46Speaker 6: have been, they just get so sick of playing these
- 1:48Speaker 6: songs over and over and they think that the audience
- 1:51Speaker 6: is sick of it too. So they feel like, oh,
- 1:53Speaker 6: stop it, I don't want to do it. But then
- 1:54Speaker 6: it's like, People want to hear it.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:57Speaker 2: I remember we introduced Jason. We introduced. We interviewed Jason
- 2:01Speaker 2: Derulo and we were playing some of his songs and
- 2:04Speaker 2: he was like, oh, God, I hate. Like, he hated
- 2:07Speaker 2: every song we played because it was all back in
- 2:10Speaker 2: his Jason Derulo days.
- 2:12Speaker 1: I kind of get it. Like, I wouldn't want to
- 2:13Speaker 1: hear my earlier radio work. Yeah, because you constantly.
- 2:17Speaker 6: Oh, God.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Imagine you're listening back to 15-year-old, like, From 15 years ago.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Yeah, it's pretty rogue. Rogue, yeah. I get that.
- 2:25Speaker 2: So you get it because as an artist you're allowed
- 2:28Speaker 2: to evolve and you're allowed to move past certain songs.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 2:34Speaker 2: You'd kind of want to find a happy medium. Like
- 2:36Speaker 2: play that and then play some of your new stuff.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Play 30 seconds of it at the end or something.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I don't know. You're so well known for it now.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I reckon just give the fans what they want. But anyway, NRL. NRL.
- 2:47Speaker 2: There is no one now performing and they've decided that
- 2:50Speaker 2: they're going to donate $ 1 million to Junior Rugby League
- 2:53Speaker 2: instead and go without a major pre-game entertainment act.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I'm just not sure, people. Like, I always watch it
- 2:59Speaker 1: with my mates.
- 2:59Speaker 3: We get together and get on the beers.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I don't think we've ever cared about the performance before. Sean,
- 3:05Speaker 1: what do you reckon? It's all about the game, really.
- 3:07Speaker 6: Yeah, I actually would have to say that the AFL
- 3:10Speaker 6: one gets a lot more than, say, the NRL one.
- 3:12Speaker 1: And the AFL one's halftime, isn't it? It's not before.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Am I wrong? Let's check that. Robbie Williams should be
- 3:19Speaker 1: coming out with Kylie during halftime.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 3:23Speaker 2: I'm stuck on the fact that the NRL is going
- 3:25Speaker 2: to donate a million dollars to Junior Rugby League instead.
- 3:29Speaker 2: What that tells me is they were going to pay
- 3:30Speaker 2: Tones and I a million dollars to perform.
- 3:32Speaker 1: I heard an interview. It costs about that, they think,
- 3:35Speaker 1: all up to do it, right? Performers, sound, all of that.
- 3:38Speaker 1: She would have got some good money, though. It's 11 minutes, too.
- 3:41Speaker 6: The performance is only 11 minutes.
- 3:44Speaker 5: And Peter Vlandy said when talking about this, $ 90, 000 a
- 3:48Speaker 5: minute all up it costs.
- 3:49Speaker 1: To do it.
- 3:50Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 3:50Speaker 5: So they said, we'd rather put that money into Junior
- 3:53Speaker 5: Rugby League.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Yeah. Let's see.
- 3:55Speaker 3: They'll get another act next year. Or there could even be.
- 3:58Speaker 3: and we don't know about it. Maybe it's Robbie Williams.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Tom Cruise has admitted that he does not read his
- 4:08Speaker 2: own scripts, which sounds like Tom Cruise. In a new interview,
- 4:13Speaker 2: he went on the Travis and Jason Kelsey podcast. I am.
- 4:17Speaker 1: And he's revealed that he does not read his own scripts.
- 4:19Speaker 2: What he does is he gets the director's and the
- 4:22Speaker 2: writer's of said scripts to read them to him.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Like he's a baby. He's like a baby.
- 4:28Speaker 2: He's like what I do to my kids every night
- 4:31Speaker 2: at bedtime. He likes being read to. But he said
- 4:34Speaker 2: that there is a reason and have a listen.
- 4:37Speaker 4: What I do with directors and writers is I don't
- 4:40Speaker 4: read the scripts. I have them read it to me. Oh, cool.
- 4:43Speaker 5: Okay.
- 4:44Speaker 4: I have them read it to me because I don't
- 4:46Speaker 4: want my ideas to invade it yet. They come to me.
- 4:50Speaker 4: And they'll read it to me and I'm like, okay.
- 4:52Speaker 4: And I'm the audience. I'm a popcorn guy. Is it
- 4:55Speaker 4: moving me or is it– am I invested? Am I
- 4:58Speaker 4: not invested? Where am I engaged? Where am I not engaged?
- 5:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I get that. But you could do all that
- 5:02Speaker 3: by still reading it. Like you'd read the script and go, oh,
- 5:05Speaker 3: do I think the audience will like this?
- 5:06Speaker 1: Why do I not like him?
- 5:08Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Because he's got a new movie coming out soon. I
- 5:12Speaker 3: think I've seen it advertised. If we could look that up.
- 5:15Speaker 3: It looks really good.
- 5:16Speaker 2: It just sounds like a– Dick.
- 5:19Speaker 1: No, I get it. I don't know anyone that likes him.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Like a lot of women don't like him, but he's
- 5:24Speaker 3: always in movies that do really well.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Listen, I'll give him that. He's a great actor. But
- 5:29Speaker 1: you don't like him personally.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I just think the way he speaks sometimes.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Oh, the movie Digger out October 2. Digger? What's that about? Yeah,
- 5:36Speaker 1: what is that about?
- 5:37Speaker 5: The most powerful man in the world who causes a
- 5:40Speaker 5: disaster and embarks on a mission to prove he's the
- 5:43Speaker 5: saviour of humanity.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 5:44Speaker 2: And let me guess, he's the most powerful man in
- 5:47Speaker 2: the world, isn't it?
- 5:48Speaker 1: Of course. He's like, I'll take that role. Yeah. That's
- 5:51Speaker 1: Tom Cruise summed up.
