- 0:31Speaker 1: And good Monday morning to you, 25th of May. This
- 0:35Speaker 1: is officially the last week of the month before we
- 0:38Speaker 1: go into June. Exactly. Time is flying like that, and
- 0:43Speaker 1: we wanna make this final week of May extra special
- 0:46Speaker 1: here for you at the shock circuit. For the whole
- 0:48Speaker 1: of last week, I was saying be on standby because
- 0:51Speaker 1: for this entire week, what you can win for yourself
- 0:54Speaker 1: are very nice Lego football sets. Yeah, I'm very happy.
- 1:01Speaker 1: We spoke to General Manager of Singapore, Malaysia, travel retail,
- 1:06Speaker 1: AEC of the Lego Group, Ms. Nina, and they've very
- 1:09Speaker 1: kindly given us a few bundles to give you here
- 1:12Speaker 1: on 987. So for today, at just past 9 a.m.
- 1:17Speaker 1: we're doing a Lego World Cup trivia. So it's more
- 1:20Speaker 1: World Cup-related questions coming your way.
- 1:22Speaker 1: We're gonna go head to head. 2 listeners against each other.
- 1:26Speaker 1: If you know the answer, you say your name, answer
- 1:29Speaker 1: the question. It's 3 questions in total. If you get
- 1:32Speaker 1: 2 right already, the Lego bundle is coming your way.
- 1:36Speaker 1: For today, you're winning for yourself a Lego Lionel Messi,
- 1:39Speaker 1: Lego Cristiano Ronaldo, Lego Kylian Mbappe, and Lego Vinny Junior.
- 1:45Speaker 1: We are counting down to the World Cup, people. If
- 1:48Speaker 1: you haven't subscribed yet to MWatch. If you want to
- 1:51Speaker 1: watch it from the
- 1:52Speaker 1: Comforts of your own home on any screen, all 104
- 1:56Speaker 1: games going at $118. If you do the math, it's
- 2:01Speaker 1: $1.13 per game. There you go. Drops towards the last
- 2:06Speaker 1: 10 seconds of this song. I get down in the studio,
- 2:08Speaker 1: I dance, and then I remember.
- 2:11Speaker 1: My left knee is still a bit sore, my right
- 2:12Speaker 1: ankle is still a little bit swollen as well, so
- 2:14Speaker 1: maybe not. I don't want any more injuries, but anyway,
- 2:17Speaker 1: that's BTS with Body to Body right here on 987,
- 2:21Speaker 1: your number one hit music station. Joakim Gomez here with you.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Age should never define you. Whether you are 8 or
- 2:28Speaker 1: 88 or 108, nothing is impossible. I wanna say congratulations
- 2:34Speaker 1: to one guy, OK?
- 2:36Speaker 1: And here's my question. What do you think you'll be
- 2:39Speaker 1: doing at 19 or what did you do at 19?
- 2:43Speaker 1: I think for most Singaporean men, maybe it's national service
- 2:48Speaker 1: or maybe you're pursuing polytechnic or IT education or maybe
- 2:52Speaker 1: retaking your Os again in a private school or whatsoever.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Whatever you're doing, I wish you all the best, but
- 2:58Speaker 1: to one Kimmy Antonelli of Formula One's Mercedes, take a bow.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Take a bow, young man.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Wow, I mean, this guy is currently half my age,
- 3:12Speaker 1: and look, he's won the Chinese Grand Prix, the Japanese
- 3:17Speaker 1: Grand Prix, the Miami Grand Prix, and as of 1
- 3:19Speaker 1: hour ago this morning, he's now the winner of the
- 3:23Speaker 1: Canadian Grand Prix. Amazing.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Amazing. So this week is gonna be quite interesting in
- 3:28Speaker 1: terms of how we live our lives here in Singapore,
- 3:31Speaker 1: maybe even around the region, because on Wednesday, it's a
- 3:34Speaker 1: public holiday. It's Hari Raya Haji. Then on Sunday, it
- 3:39Speaker 1: is Vesak Day, which means the following Monday. It's the
- 3:44Speaker 1: public holiday in lieu because it falls on a Sunday.
- 3:48Speaker 1: So I think loads of people in the office, they
- 3:51Speaker 1: might have played their leave dates correctly.
- 3:53Speaker 1: They will take the Haraya Haji off and then they'll
- 3:56Speaker 1: apply for leave Thursday and Friday and give themselves one
- 4:00Speaker 1: extra long weekend to go to places like Bali, maybe
- 4:04Speaker 1: even Bintan for a golf session. I know plenty of
- 4:07Speaker 1: people going there for golf now. Johor Bahru are going
- 4:10Speaker 1: over to Bangkok, the Usual Suspects, or even a quick
- 4:14Speaker 1: trip to Hong Kong or maybe even Tokyo, Japan, but
- 4:18Speaker 1: If you are going across the causeway in the next
- 4:21Speaker 1: few days, especially during Hari Raya Haji and the Vesak
- 4:24Speaker 1: Day weekend, please give yourselves more time, allocate yourselves more time.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Our friends over at ICA are giving you an advisory
- 4:32Speaker 1: that there will be additional traffic. There could be heavy
- 4:35Speaker 1: traffic as well, so we ask for your patience. Stay
- 4:39Speaker 1: calm and enjoy the public holiday.
- 4:43Speaker 1: 987. Hello, what's your name? Tyler. Hello, Tyler, and what
- 4:47Speaker 1: school are you headed to today? Saint Andrew's Junior. Saint
- 4:50Speaker 1: Andrew's Junior. OK, I know where is that because it's
- 4:53Speaker 1: quite near the JC and the secondary school area. So Tyler,
- 4:57Speaker 1: what's amazing about Saint Andrew's? Tell me. There is a
- 5:02Speaker 1: lot of new friends there. A new, new friends there. OK.
- 5:05Speaker 1: What level are you in this year, Tyler?
- 5:08Speaker 1: P11, how has it been for you in school? All good?
- 5:13Speaker 1: Yeah, are you enjoying yourselves?
- 5:15Speaker 1: And is your teachers good to you? Do you like
- 5:18Speaker 1: your teachers?
- 5:19Speaker 1: Yes, OK, if I were to ever come to Saint
- 5:22Speaker 1: Andrew's Junior and I go to your canteen, what's the
- 5:25Speaker 1: one thing I should have? Prata Prata. OK, what song
- 5:30Speaker 1: can I get you, Tyler? My sister likes.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Oprahlite, so I'll get Oprahlite. Tyler, ask and you shall receive.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Here's Taylor Swift Oprahlite going out to you and your
- 5:41Speaker 1: sister right here on 987. And yep, as of yesterday,
- 5:45Speaker 1: the Premier League season is officially over. What a season
- 5:49Speaker 1: we've had.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I mean, of course, if you're an Arsenal fan, I
- 5:55Speaker 1: say congratulations. Yesterday, lifting the trophy over at Selhurst Park
- 6:00Speaker 1: after beating Crystal Palace, but I'm very sure there'll be
- 6:03Speaker 1: huge celebrations at the Emirates Stadium. I think Ed Russell
- 6:08Speaker 1: of Class 95.
- 6:10Speaker 1: is actually live in London right now, as is Kathryn Robert,
- 6:14Speaker 1: also from Class 95. She went to go watch Tottenham
- 6:17Speaker 1: Hotspur's game and thankfully for Tottenham Hotspur, they are staying
- 6:21Speaker 1: up in the Premier League. West Ham United, even though
- 6:24Speaker 1: they beat Leeds United 3-0.
- 6:27Speaker 1: West Ham United have been relegated to the championship next season. Hopefully,
- 6:31Speaker 1: we'll see them back in the Premier League the following season, 2728.
- 6:36Speaker 1: But a few things we gotta acknowledge here, OK? From Liverpool,
- 6:40Speaker 1: Mo Salah and Andy Robertson.
- 6:43Speaker 1: They both have concluded their their their time in the
- 6:46Speaker 1: Premier League, and I think for Liverpool fans, they'll definitely
- 6:49Speaker 1: miss these two players a lot, especially for Mo Salah,
- 6:53Speaker 1: they call the Egyptian king. For Manchester United, it's Casemiro,
- 6:57Speaker 1: and please get rid of Onana.
- 7:01Speaker 1: And for Man City, Bernardo Silva and Pep Guardiola himself.
- 7:07Speaker 1: They both have called time on their careers in the
- 7:10Speaker 1: Premier League, so I'm not too sure where they go
- 7:12Speaker 1: from here. We'll see because I'm just wondering who's gonna
- 7:16Speaker 1: manage Man City now? Who's gonna follow up after Pep Guardiola?
- 7:21Speaker 1: Those are very tough shoes to fill. One more game
- 7:25Speaker 1: awaits us, not for the domestic leagues, but the Champions League.
- 7:29Speaker 1: It's happening this Sunday.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Paris Saint-Germain against Arsenal. Will Arsenal do the double? Their
- 7:36Speaker 1: fans can only dream and hope it happens. If you
- 7:38Speaker 1: wanna go cheer for either teams, I think Chimes. They're
- 7:42Speaker 1: having a huge screening with loads of drinks and food
- 7:46Speaker 1: available for you. So grab your football khakis and if
- 7:49Speaker 1: you want to enjoy the final game of the football season,
- 7:52Speaker 1: watch that and then in less than 2 weeks, people,
- 7:56Speaker 1: it's the World Cup. International teams.
- 7:59Speaker 1: I cannot wait. I'm truly excited and very soon, I'll
- 8:03Speaker 1: be releasing a few videos to give you a guide
- 8:06Speaker 1: to the World Cup. Disclaimer as always, whenever we do
- 8:10Speaker 1: a piece of news like this. We, we don't encourage
- 8:13Speaker 1: gambling whatsoever, but sometimes the winnings are a very special story,
- 8:19Speaker 1: it's too hard to ignore. So, if you, or maybe
- 8:23Speaker 1: even your mom or your grandma was at Gunting Highlands recently,
- 8:29Speaker 1: Maybe it could have been her that brought back $10
- 8:33Speaker 1: million to Singapore. Wow!
- 8:37Speaker 1: So apparently, a lady known, very popular as Old Auntie
- 8:42Speaker 1: over at Genting Highlands, she was playing those casino slot machines,
- 8:46Speaker 1: and this one is called the Dragon Link slot. She
- 8:50Speaker 1: won $10.3 million sing. That translates to RM $31.9 million.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Well, guess who's not going back to Gunting Highlands anymore?
- 9:03Speaker 1: She's one, she can rest and enjoy retirement. Travel the world, auntie,
- 9:07Speaker 1: go to Macau, go to Vegas. The world is now
- 9:10Speaker 1: your oyster with $10.3 million. Trust me, man, if I
- 9:15Speaker 1: got that lucky over at Genting Highlands.
- 9:17Speaker 1: What I would do immediately is check out of my hotel,
- 9:21Speaker 1: hire police escort all the way back to Johor Bahru checkpoint,
- 9:26Speaker 1: then I'll ask my family to wait for me at
- 9:28Speaker 1: the Singapore checkpoint. The moment I cross customs, I'm going
- 9:32Speaker 1: straight to the bank, putting my money in and buying
- 9:35Speaker 1: a condo.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Yeah, typical Singaporean mentality. Must buy a condo. How was
- 9:40Speaker 1: your weekend? Hopefully, it's a good one. Let's catch up.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Let me just share with you more about my life.
- 9:45Speaker 1: So over the weekend, doing one of the three joki
- 9:49Speaker 1: activities I would do. If it's not sleeping or gaming,
- 9:52Speaker 1: I'm running.
- 9:55Speaker 1: So on Saturday, we went for a very nice run
- 9:57Speaker 1: along what I call the ovarian route, if you know,
- 9:59Speaker 1: you know, and over at the Tanjung Ru area, there
- 10:03Speaker 1: were these two little cute girls on their mini bicycles cycling,
- 10:06Speaker 1: and I think their mom was running behind them, making
- 10:10Speaker 1: sure they were safe, and she was screaming like, Lara,
- 10:12Speaker 1: look forward. So yes, if you're that mom, shout out
- 10:14Speaker 1: to you. You look like a warrior guarding your two
- 10:17Speaker 1: lionesses with you as well. But I was gonna say, um,
- 10:21Speaker 1: the roles reversed on Sunday.
- 10:24Speaker 1: I know I shared this with you a few weeks
- 10:26Speaker 1: ago about how I'm a little bit uncomfortable with my
- 10:28Speaker 1: mom wanting to cycle again, knowing how dangerous the roads
- 10:32Speaker 1: and even the park connectors. You might think it's safe
- 10:35Speaker 1: for cycling, but the moment you lose focus, an accident
- 10:39Speaker 1: could happen. So she went cycling for the very
- 10:42Speaker 1: first time in a long while yesterday, and I said, Mom,
- 10:45Speaker 1: you know what, I'm gonna run alongside you. You're going
- 10:48Speaker 1: to Bishan Park. I know it looks easy, but I
- 10:50Speaker 1: want to make sure you're observing the correct rules. Keep
- 10:53Speaker 1: left and alerting people that you're behind them before you
- 10:56Speaker 1: cut them from the right. So she got on the bike.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Took her a while to get comfortable with it, was
- 11:02Speaker 1: a little bit shaky. Couple of, uh, I won't say falls,
- 11:06Speaker 1: it's more tumbles here and there. Going uphill still can
- 11:10Speaker 1: be a bit difficult for her, but all in all,
- 11:13Speaker 1: she did a very good job. I'm actually very impressed.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Well done, mom.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Yeah
- 11:20Speaker 1: The, the, the only thing is my mom's bike, I mean,
- 11:23Speaker 1: she's really invested into safety now after what I told
- 11:27Speaker 1: her and after how I voiced my discomfort at the
- 11:30Speaker 1: idea of her cycling alone at night or maybe even
- 11:32Speaker 1: in the mornings, she's put on so many.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Lights on the bicycle and not just the bicycle. Her
- 11:40Speaker 1: hat lah, her t-shirt now has the blinking lights. It's
- 11:44Speaker 1: very hard to not see her coming. You can see
- 11:47Speaker 1: her coming from a mile away. When I was running yesterday,
- 11:50Speaker 1: I was filming her on my Oki glasses. I think
- 11:54Speaker 1: I was what, maybe 400 m away from her. I
- 11:56Speaker 1: could still see her because of all the blinking lights
- 11:58Speaker 1: that she turns on.
- 12:00Speaker 1: At 6 p.m. It's still bright, Mom, save the battery.
- 12:05Speaker 1: And OK, so given how Wednesday is a public holiday,
- 12:08Speaker 1: I can immediately tell you where most of the Gen
- 12:10Speaker 1: Z's would go. This could be a stereotype, but where
- 12:14Speaker 1: is the lie? So, if you were to go to Orchard.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Maybe even on a weekend or a Friday night, you
- 12:21Speaker 1: would see very well-dressed Gen Z's and it makes you wonder, oh,
- 12:25Speaker 1: which club are they going to, which, uh, nearby bar,
- 12:29Speaker 1: or are they hanging out with friends somewhere for a
- 12:31Speaker 1: good Friday night out? No. Where are they going? Yochi.
- 12:38Speaker 1: The one over at Orchard Central, yeah. They're dressing up
- 12:40Speaker 1: like Yochi is the new club to be, and hey, I, I,
- 12:43Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure if you're a lovely lady, you might
- 12:46Speaker 1: have been hit on at a Yochi by some bro
- 12:49Speaker 1: who might be trying his luck and shooting his shot. So, Yochi,
- 12:53Speaker 1: congratulations to them. They've opened its second outlet at Star Vista. Hey, hey.
- 13:02Speaker 1: They're officially opening on Saturday and apparently somebody was in
- 13:05Speaker 1: the queue from 8:30 a.m. Wow, I, I really hope
- 13:08Speaker 1: your Yochi was extra special. Uh, look, I, I have
- 13:12Speaker 1: not tried Yochi yet. Please, please don't be startled or shocked.
- 13:15Speaker 1: It's just
- 13:16Speaker 1: The queue is very long lah. I am, bro's got
- 13:19Speaker 1: no time to queue for a while, OK? I've done
- 13:21Speaker 1: my queuing when I was 18 for Singapore Idol. I'm done.
- 13:24Speaker 1: 16 hours. No more queuing for me, please. But yeah,
- 13:27Speaker 1: if you're going down to Star Vista again, do allocate
- 13:30Speaker 1: yourselves queuing time and congratulations to Yochi. Yochi to the
- 13:34Speaker 1: Gen Z is like maybe
- 13:36Speaker 1: PS Cafe's truffle fries. To us millennials here, everybody had
- 13:40Speaker 1: to try it at some point in time and showing
- 13:43Speaker 1: up on Instagram. As always, around this time here on
- 13:46Speaker 1: the show, our phone lines are open over at 669-119-87
- 13:51Speaker 1: or maybe even you can WhatsApp us at 90050987. And
- 13:57Speaker 1: what we have up for grabs today.
- 13:59Speaker 1: If we do love your answers. A nice dining experience,
- 14:03Speaker 1: all thanks to our friends over at Cloud Fields. They're
- 14:05Speaker 1: located over at Tan Boon Lit Building. It's an all-day
- 14:08Speaker 1: dining concept built around how Singaporeans love to eat. So
- 14:12Speaker 1: we've got shared plates, comfort food, mixed cravings, and long
- 14:17Speaker 1: catch up with friends and family. Their signature dishes include
- 14:21Speaker 1: the short.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Rib rendang pasta, the nori clam pasta and ko e
- 14:26Speaker 1: pepe fries, and the negitorro kimchi tuna melt. You have
- 14:30Speaker 1: to try it and if you wanna go follow them
- 14:32Speaker 1: on Instagram, give them a boost over at Love Cloud
- 14:36Speaker 1: Fields once again over on Instagram. Today's one though, inspired
- 14:41Speaker 1: by Diplo, what he posted over the weekend.
- 14:44Speaker 1: And if you don't know who Diplo is, uh, he's
- 14:46Speaker 1: only one of the greatest producers of our generation. Produced
- 14:51Speaker 1: songs for so many people. Recently played at Coachella as well.
- 14:55Speaker 1: And then, given how he is world-renowned, multiple awards under
- 15:01Speaker 1: his belt, he DJs for VIPs and millions of people,
- 15:05Speaker 1: what to him is the most important set?
- 15:08Speaker 1: His kid's kindergarten graduation party.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Yes, it's very cute. So in the video, you would
- 15:16Speaker 1: see him at the backyard with two portable speakers and
- 15:19Speaker 1: he has his DJ console, and he's playing songs that
- 15:22Speaker 1: are kid-friendly, by the way, and he goes, are you
- 15:25Speaker 1: ready for some fun? 121234, and he hypes all the
- 15:30Speaker 1: kids up. They're jumping around the speakers. Hey, you know
- 15:32Speaker 1: what they say, right, start them young, but it's, it's
- 15:35Speaker 1: very nice to see Diplo, yes, putting the world-renowned DJ
- 15:39Speaker 1: aside and showing up for his kid.
- 15:42Speaker 1: And then on TikTok, I don't know why, maybe it's
- 15:45Speaker 1: my FYP or my algorithm, right? Sometimes when I scroll TikTok, I'm,
- 15:49Speaker 1: I'm seeing videos of parents showing up for kids and
- 15:53Speaker 1: the kids reacting to it. So for example, it could
- 15:56Speaker 1: be your kid's kindergarten show or concert. It could be
- 15:59Speaker 1: a simple tree on stage or they're doing a dance routine.
- 16:03Speaker 1: You can see their head scanning for their parents and
- 16:06Speaker 1: the
- 16:06Speaker 1: The moment they spot the parents, the biggest smile on
- 16:10Speaker 1: their face or they might wave and say, hello mommy,
- 16:12Speaker 1: hello daddy, and everybody will laugh and it's a memory
- 16:15Speaker 1: on your phone and you can post it on Instagram
- 16:17Speaker 1: reels and maybe even on TikTok. So, today, on this
- 16:21Speaker 1: Monday morning, I, I wanna tug at your heartstrings a
- 16:25Speaker 1: little bit. Whether you're a parent or I mean all
- 16:28Speaker 1: of us are children, all of us are kids as well.
- 16:31Speaker 1: When was the last time your parents showed up for
- 16:34Speaker 1: you and it put a smile on your face? Or
- 16:37Speaker 1: if you're a parent, when was the last time you
- 16:39Speaker 1: showed up for a kid and put a smile on
- 16:41Speaker 1: their face? Let us know your stories. Let's get it
- 16:44Speaker 1: coming here over at 669-11987 or 90050987. I'm gonna just
- 16:52Speaker 1: start the ball rolling here. Marymount Kindergarten, 1992 to 1995,
- 16:59Speaker 1: if I'm 1994 if I'm not wrong.
- 17:01Speaker 1: We always had these concerts over at the old SLF building,
- 17:05Speaker 1: and I remember when I was in nursery one, my
- 17:08Speaker 1: teachers chose me to go sing a Christmas song. What
- 17:11Speaker 1: was it? Long time ago in Bethlehem, that that song.
- 17:16Speaker 1: I was a bit nervous, but the moment I saw
- 17:18Speaker 1: my mom and dad, I was like, OK, I'll sing
- 17:20Speaker 1: for you.
- 17:23Speaker 1: So please keep the calls coming in over at 669-119-87.
- 17:28Speaker 1: So inspired by what Diplo posted on Instagram just a
- 17:31Speaker 1: few days ago, him DJing for his kid's kindergarten party.
- 17:37Speaker 1: He's so cute. Showing up for his kid and he says,
- 17:40Speaker 1: one of the most important gigs of my life, and
- 17:43Speaker 1: you can see the kids look so happy. My question is,
- 17:47Speaker 1: when was the last time your parents showed up for you,
- 17:49Speaker 1: or if you're a parent, when was the last time
- 17:51Speaker 1: you showed up for your kid? Wanna go to WhatsApp
- 17:53Speaker 1: right now at 90050987. Very heartwarming messages coming in.
- 18:00Speaker 1: On this Monday morning, I want to say hello to Marcus.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Marcus says, Hey Joakim, I do grab and sometimes my
- 18:07Speaker 1: shift ends very late at night. One evening, my mom
- 18:12Speaker 1: waited up just to cook Maggi Goreng for me at
- 18:14Speaker 1: 2 a.m. Honestly, at that moment, I felt more loved
- 18:18Speaker 1: than rich. Aiyo, Marcus!
- 18:21Speaker 1: Making all of us cry in the studio. I Wanna
- 18:24Speaker 1: say good morning to Jason. Jason says, hey, Joakim, my
- 18:28Speaker 1: little girl had one line only for her pride for
- 18:31Speaker 1: her preschool concert. One line, but the whole family turned
- 18:35Speaker 1: up like it was National Day Parade. After that, she
- 18:37Speaker 1: kept asking, you all saw me, right?
- 18:43Speaker 1: And one coming in from, from, uh, hang on, let
- 18:46Speaker 1: me just get your name. Username Jell-o Cat. Hello, Jello Cat.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Last month, my daughter casually said she wanted to see
- 18:54Speaker 1: Taylor Swift, but tickets were impossible lah, or rather, when
- 18:58Speaker 1: when Taylor was here. I queued online for six hours
- 19:01Speaker 1: during work, got the tickets, and when I surprised her,
- 19:04Speaker 1: she screamed until her neighbor came over. Well, thank you
- 19:07Speaker 1: very much. Username Jello Cat. Keep the calls and texts
- 19:09Speaker 1: coming in over at 669-11-987 or you can WhatsApp us.
- 19:14Speaker 1: At 90050987. Wow. Parents buy me concert tickets. This is
- 19:20Speaker 1: for me, Coldplay. When they were in Singapore in the
- 19:24Speaker 1: year 2009 for the Viva La Vida concert, my mom
- 19:27Speaker 1: actually surprised me with a ticket because I think they
- 19:30Speaker 1: had the Visa card pre-sale a long time ago now.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Thank you for joining us on this Monday morning. On
- 19:35Speaker 1: the topic of
- 19:37Speaker 1: Your parents showing up for you, or if you're a
- 19:39Speaker 1: parent showing up for your kids, inspired by what Diplo
- 19:42Speaker 1: posted just a few days ago on Instagram himself, a
- 19:45Speaker 1: world-renowned DJ but not forgetting he's a father too, he
- 19:49Speaker 1: DJs for his kids' kindergarten graduation ceremony. It's quite nice
- 19:55Speaker 1: to see. Going to the phone lines right now, 669-119-87. Chelsea,
- 20:01Speaker 1: what's your story?
- 20:02Speaker 2: Uh, that was
- 20:03Speaker 2: just two weeks ago. Uh, it was at my graduation day.
- 20:07Speaker 2: And uh they bought me flowers and my grandma, my
- 20:10Speaker 2: sisters all came, so I was so happy.
- 20:13Speaker 1: So when the MC announced your name, were your parents
- 20:15Speaker 1: cheering out loud? Were you going, yay, or were they
- 20:18Speaker 1: quiet about
- 20:18Speaker 2: it?
- 20:20Speaker 2: They were screaming and shouting my name. I felt so embarrassed.
- 20:25Speaker 1: I mean, I'm sure you felt embarrassed, but deep down
- 20:28Speaker 1: you're very happy and I'm sure they videoed that moment
- 20:30Speaker 1: for you.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Uh, yes, um, I'm, my face turned red, but of course, I'm, uh,
- 20:36Speaker 2: definitely very happy because, um, they made everybody know my
- 20:41Speaker 2: name and I graduated.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Congratulations though. You need to post this video on TikTok
- 20:46Speaker 1: on Instagrams, and I hope I can see it. So Chelsea,
- 20:49Speaker 1: what's next for you after graduation from poly?
- 20:53Speaker 2: Uh, I'm actually in nursing. So I already started my
- 20:57Speaker 2: sting in uh
- 20:58Speaker 2: KK. Alright,
- 21:00Speaker 1: thank you so much for doing what you do and
- 21:01Speaker 1: all the best to you. OK, Chelsea, you take care.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Thank you. Bye bye. Call us at 669-119-87. No, what's
- 21:12Speaker 1: your story? Alright,
- 21:13Speaker 2: so it was back in the year 2021 when I
- 21:15Speaker 2: first when I first got married I got married.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Yes,
- 21:23Speaker 2: OK, so I got married in 2021, so my parents,
- 21:26Speaker 2: they have been divorced for about 8 years and um
- 21:30Speaker 2: during that time, I was, uh, really happy.
- 21:33Speaker 2: That, um, you know, they put their differences aside and
- 21:36Speaker 2: they came down to my wedding, whether it is, um,
- 21:39Speaker 2: whether they need to or they feel like they have to, uh,
- 21:43Speaker 2: I still feel like very touched with their actions like
- 21:46Speaker 2: that they made an effort to calm down and you know, uh,
- 21:50Speaker 2: whether they see each other during my wedding and then, um,
- 21:54Speaker 2: whatever pass that they have, they, they still show up
- 21:57Speaker 2: with a smile.
- 21:58Speaker 1: You know what I'm
- 21:59Speaker 1: Very happy for you, and I can relate to this
- 22:01Speaker 1: because my, my parents are divorced as well, and this
- 22:03Speaker 1: one on my Instagram, right? One of the pictures that
- 22:06Speaker 1: I pinned at the top was my birthday last year.
- 22:08Speaker 1: My mom and dad and me in the same frame
- 22:11Speaker 1: for a picture. So yeah, I, I relate to your
- 22:13Speaker 1: story and I'm very happy for you, and I hope
- 22:16Speaker 1: my wedding will have the same story as well that
- 22:17Speaker 1: both my parents will be there for me as well.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Thank you so much for your call. Take care, OK? No,
- 22:21Speaker 1: take care. Thank you, Jo. Bye-bye. If you just joined
- 22:24Speaker 1: us on this Monday.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Morning, we say welcome to the show. What you've missed
- 22:27Speaker 1: so far. We're having a chat about your parents showing
- 22:30Speaker 1: up for you, or if you're a parent showing up
- 22:32Speaker 1: for your kids inspired by Diplo's video of himself DJing
- 22:36Speaker 1: at what looks like a backyard party for his kids'
- 22:39Speaker 1: kindergarten graduation party. It's very nice to see. It's very
- 22:44Speaker 1: sweet as well. So I'm gonna go to WhatsApp at 90050987,
- 22:49Speaker 1: saying hello to Farhan. Farhan says, hey, Joakim.
- 22:52Speaker 1: My son had football training under the ring quite recently,
- 22:56Speaker 1: and I still showed up after work in office clothes
- 22:58Speaker 1: just to watch for 20 minutes. After training, he told
- 23:01Speaker 1: his coach and his friends, Hey, that's my dad. My
- 23:04Speaker 1: dad came. Whoa, small thing, but it hit me really hard.
- 23:08Speaker 1: I kind of teared up but away from him. Cannot
- 23:11Speaker 1: show him weakness.
- 23:14Speaker 1: That that's the most dead message I've read all morning.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Thank you very much for your texts, Farhan. One coming
- 23:20Speaker 1: in from Nick. Morning, Solo, Joe. Happy Monday. 21 assists day. Yes,
- 23:27Speaker 1: congrats to Bruno Fernandez. Showing up for my girls has
- 23:30Speaker 1: always been something my wife and I try to do
- 23:33Speaker 1: as much as we can. Our 17 year old just
- 23:35Speaker 1: entered IT.
- 23:36Speaker 1: this year, new environment and friends. We wanted to offer
- 23:40Speaker 1: her as much support as we can. She joined a
- 23:42Speaker 1: K-pop CCA and enjoyed herself. I will pick her when
- 23:46Speaker 1: their practice finished. The day of their performance, both my
- 23:50Speaker 1: wife and I were in the stands watching her, beaming
- 23:52Speaker 1: with pride, and when she ended her dance, she came over.
- 23:55Speaker 1: We can see her joy just to see us watching.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Her perform. Oh, thank you very much, Nick. Gonna keep
- 24:01Speaker 1: the calls and texts coming in. We do have time
- 24:03Speaker 1: for one more, and we have time for a few
- 24:06Speaker 1: more texts and calls with regard to the last time
- 24:08Speaker 1: your parents showed up for you, or if you're a parent,
- 24:11Speaker 1: when was the last time you showed up for your kid?
- 24:12Speaker 1: In case you just joined us, this is inspired by
- 24:14Speaker 1: Diplo's latest Instagram reel, where he was DJing for his
- 24:18Speaker 1: kid's kindergarten graduation party.
- 24:20Speaker 1: At what looks to be some backyard and two portable
- 24:23Speaker 1: speakers and it's just Diplo, having all the fun in
- 24:26Speaker 1: the world and the kids are jumping around and dancing.
- 24:29Speaker 1: So I wanna go to WhatsApp and say good morning
- 24:31Speaker 1: to Akim. Akim says, morning Joakim. So sad for me,
- 24:35Speaker 1: my parents are separated, so my mom never turned up
- 24:38Speaker 1: for any of my sports events or school events, but
- 24:42Speaker 1: the only time she showed herself was when I skipped.
- 24:46Speaker 1: When I skipped after school lessons and I played Counter-Strike
- 24:49Speaker 1: at the Land gaming shop, oh my God, my ears
- 24:52Speaker 1: got pulled in front of everyone and after that, one week,
- 24:55Speaker 1: no Counter-Strike. Well, one week only. Well, thank you very
- 24:58Speaker 1: much for sharing. At least she cared enough to show up,
- 25:02Speaker 1: pull your ear, and now it's a core memory.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Memory for you. One coming in from Jacqueline. Jacqueline, you say, hey, Joakim,
- 25:10Speaker 1: I still remember this. Whenever I get standing punishments in
- 25:15Speaker 1: school almost every week, my mom will be the one
- 25:17Speaker 1: picking me up from school, but I'll always cross my
- 25:20Speaker 1: fingers that it won't be her because my mom is
- 25:22Speaker 1: the one that scolds me. When I saw my dad
- 25:25Speaker 1: for once, my day became filled with rainbows.
- 25:30Speaker 1: And I replied, Why, your dad's the nicer one, is it?
- 25:33Speaker 1: She replied back, My dad never scolds me, but whenever
- 25:36Speaker 1: we go back home, my dad will get it from
- 25:38Speaker 1: my mom for not scolding me. A. 669-11987. Sharon, what
- 25:44Speaker 1: about you?
- 25:45Speaker 2: Uh, it was my son's, um, sports meet, and, um,
- 25:50Speaker 2: it was his very first. So we were so happy
- 25:54Speaker 2: when he was laughing and smiling and running around.
- 25:57Speaker 2: So I was the crazy mom who was jumping up
- 26:01Speaker 2: and down, cheering for him, shouting his name and videoing him.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Don't worry, that will be me as a dad as
- 26:08Speaker 1: well if I ever become one. So what event did
- 26:10Speaker 1: he take part in?
- 26:12Speaker 2: Uh, he was doing the running relay.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 26:16Speaker 1: So did he win it or did he just get
- 26:18Speaker 1: the consolation participation medal?
- 26:21Speaker 2: Uh, consolation. He only got a medal, but I think, um,
- 26:26Speaker 2: he's happy enough because it was his very first, and
- 26:30Speaker 2: uh it was a very good experience because he's an introvert.
- 26:34Speaker 2: So I'm very happy and he made very, um, many friends,
- 26:39Speaker 2: so I'm happy for him. Beautiful.
- 26:40Speaker 1: I think the ultimate prize is his mom, you going
- 26:44Speaker 1: there and shouting his name. Thank you so much.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Thank so much for your call, Sharon. Take care, OK?
- 26:47Speaker 1: Have a great day. Bye-bye. And usually I sing the jingle,
- 26:51Speaker 1: then Sonia gives us the food news, but given how
- 26:53Speaker 1: she's only back with us next Tuesday, still enjoying the
- 26:56Speaker 1: south of France, let's go. 123, food news. Food news.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Joking with the good food news. OK, this one, if
- 27:07Speaker 1: you love your durian.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Our friends over at Fair Price Extra, they're bringing back
- 27:12Speaker 1: the all you can eat durian buffet. Fantastic. Yeah.
- 27:19Speaker 1: So, take these dates down, 19th to 21st of June
- 27:24Speaker 1: 2026 over at Fair Price Extra Parkway Parade, and the
- 27:29Speaker 1: following week, 26th to 28th of June, over at Fair
- 27:33Speaker 1: Price Extra Vivo.
- 27:35Speaker 1: City, those are the dates where it'll be happening. So,
- 27:38Speaker 1: looking at the time slots, I'm guessing you have about
- 27:42Speaker 1: 90 minutes thereabouts to have your all you can eat
- 27:45Speaker 1: durian buffet, which includes the likes of your Mao Shan Wangs,
- 27:49Speaker 1: your D24, D13.
- 27:51Speaker 1: We've got your black thorn, King of king, and red prawn. So,
- 27:56Speaker 1: if I'm not wrong, there is an $85 per pack charge,
- 28:00Speaker 1: and for the early bird promo, if you're buying two tickets,
- 28:03Speaker 1: you get $20 off. The early bird promo happens till
- 28:07Speaker 1: the 12th of June. So please, go enjoy all your durian.
- 28:10Speaker 1: I'm guessing it's the season again over at Fair Price.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Extra Parkway Parade. Again, the dates are 19th, 20th, and
- 28:17Speaker 1: 21st of June, and fair price extra, 26th, 27th, 28th
- 28:22Speaker 1: of June. So maybe you can even go and buy
- 28:24Speaker 1: some durians. And during the World Cup season of the games,
- 28:27Speaker 1: tappa and watch with your friends. But for the buffet,
- 28:30Speaker 1: you must dine in there, yeah? Cannot bring home. And
- 28:32Speaker 1: given how it's the World Cup in a matter of 3.
- 28:37Speaker 1: wait people. Yes, I know we have new World Cup songs,
- 28:41Speaker 1: but 1998, Ricky Martin, the Cup of Life, to me,
- 28:46Speaker 1: it's still the best damn World Cup song alive, people.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Get in the vibes, soak in the atmosphere, and if
- 28:52Speaker 1: you're clueless about the World Cup, not to worry, I'll
- 28:54Speaker 1: be posting a few videos on 987's TikTok and Instagram
- 28:57Speaker 1: very soon as we count down.
- 28:59Speaker 1: To the World Cup happening in USA, Canada, and Mexico.
- 29:05Speaker 1: So if you love your Lego or maybe your kids
- 29:08Speaker 1: who are football fans, they want to own a piece
- 29:09Speaker 1: of footballing history in the form of Lego, how about these?
- 29:13Speaker 1: Lego Lionel Messi, Lego Cristiano Ronaldo, Lego Kylian Mbappe, and
- 29:18Speaker 1: Lego Vinicius Junior.
- 29:20Speaker 1: The entire bundle is worth $183.60. Here is what we
- 29:27Speaker 1: are gonna do. We're gonna get two callers. We're looking
- 29:30Speaker 1: for two callers. 669-119-87. You call us right now and
- 29:35Speaker 1: we're gonna go head to head. I have three questions, OK?
- 29:41Speaker 1: The one with the most correct answers, you walk away
- 29:45Speaker 1: with the Lego bundle worth $183.60. These are simple World

- 30:28Speaker 1: ready for the World Cup trivia?
