- 0:47Speaker 2: Bootleg Cab Podcast, man. We got a special guest in here, man.
- 0:51Speaker 1: These guys are LA rap legends. I put them on,
- 0:55Speaker 1: you know, when we think about the blog era, this
- 0:57Speaker 1: rap shit, you guys are definitely the architects, some of
- 1:01Speaker 1: the architects of what we know to be that era
- 1:03Speaker 1: of music. Pac Div in the field.
- 1:06Speaker 3: What's up with it, man? Thanks for calling us legends, man.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it's so crazy because I just, like, there's like
- 1:13Speaker 1: a few, like, my favorite, I always feel like Cool
- 1:17Speaker 1: Kids and you guys were like damn near like beginning
- 1:23Speaker 1: but like right before the blog era was like a
- 1:25Speaker 1: thing thing but then you guys you got like once
- 1:28Speaker 1: it started to kind of take off you guys are
- 1:30Speaker 1: already like super established but i feel like y'all don't
- 1:32Speaker 1: get like enough love i told the same thing to
- 1:34Speaker 1: chuck and and uh mike i was like yo man
- 1:38Speaker 1: when we think about just the impact you guys had
- 1:43Speaker 1: on just sonics and just coming out of la too
- 1:46Speaker 1: just bringing something different to the table thank you You know,
- 1:49Speaker 1: I think, like, you guys were, like, kind of pre-Kendrick.
- 1:51Speaker 1: You guys were definitely pre-Kendrick in terms of just, like,
- 1:54Speaker 1: before Kendrick got the Drake cosign and all that shit.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. For sure, for sure.
- 2:00Speaker 4: He was there, but he was K-Dot.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Right, right.
- 2:02Speaker 4: He was K-Dot.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Right. But I just, like, think, like, for a minute, like,
- 2:05Speaker 1: obviously there was game, but I was just, like, the L.A.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Shit. It was, like, packed in.
- 2:09Speaker 1: It was the hottest shit out of L.A., man. So
- 2:12Speaker 1: it's been dope.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Shout out to Blue Collar, because.
- 2:15Speaker 5: That's our cousin was in a group called Blue Collar
- 2:19Speaker 5: with this guy, Reese.
- 2:20Speaker 3: One and Basic. That's their solo names.
- 2:23Speaker 5: But they had this thing called the 99 Cent Special
- 2:28Speaker 5: that they used to have at the Little Temple. Was
- 2:30Speaker 5: it the Little Temple or Virgil in Santa Monica? And
- 2:34Speaker 5: it used to cost like a dollar to get in.
- 2:37Speaker 5: And they were the first people to give us a
- 2:39Speaker 5: stage to rock on. And this was like late 05.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Oh, that's crazy.
- 2:44Speaker 5: And right around this same time, we were doing studio
- 2:48Speaker 5: sessions with Blue and Exile and Miguel.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Blue's in that combo too. Miguel too. Shout out to Miguel, man.
- 2:56Speaker 1: But Blue, man, shit, he's another one of them guys that, like, damn.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Especially with the underground shit, like, he's got a class.
- 3:04Speaker 1: You know, not a lot of people say they got
- 3:05Speaker 1: a classic. He got a classic.
- 3:06Speaker 4: Yeah, he does.
- 3:08Speaker 6: And we was there when he was making Below the
- 3:10Speaker 6: Heavens for the most part. We was out there kicking
- 3:12Speaker 6: it with him every day, making stuff and kicking it.
- 3:15Speaker 1: How, like, because kind of like before you guys, there
- 3:17Speaker 1: was a dope, like... influx of dope hip-hop groups out
- 3:21Speaker 1: of L.A. that were kind of on the underground side,
- 3:22Speaker 1: like Dilated, Jurassic 5. How influenced by those guys were you,
- 3:26Speaker 1: and how hip to that kind of scene were you guys?
- 3:29Speaker 7: We used to listen to all the radio stations on
- 3:33Speaker 7: Wake Up Show, and what was the Friday Night Flavors?
- 3:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:36Speaker 7: Part 106. We was always tapped in with Cron Don,
- 3:39Speaker 7: Self Scientific. That's right.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Was a lot of like the- Strong Arm Steady.
- 3:43Speaker 7: Strong Arm Steady.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Defari.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Defari.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Hey, Rue.
- 3:48Speaker 7: RazzCast. Huge RazzCast fan since the 90s, for real.
- 3:51Speaker 4: Planet Asia. Planet Asia.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Him and Roscoe had the Cali Asian shit going on.
- 3:56Speaker 7: Shout out Fresno.
- 3:58Speaker 4: Shout out.
- 3:58Speaker 7: Yeah. So we was all tapped in, all the West
- 4:00Speaker 7: Coast underground.
- 4:02Speaker 1: When did y'all feel like- Sonically, you guys had your
- 4:05Speaker 1: own sound. When did you feel like you kind of
- 4:07Speaker 1: hit that groove where you were like, oh, this is fresh,
- 4:10Speaker 1: and this feels like us, if that makes sense?
- 4:14Speaker 5: Silver Freshness, the blend tape, 2006. But we were working
- 4:20Speaker 5: on that blend tape late 05 all the way to
- 4:23Speaker 5: the summer of 06, and we finally looked at each
- 4:26Speaker 5: other and was like, I.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Think we got it.
- 4:28Speaker 1: We got with our producer, Swift D, who lived up.
- 4:30Speaker 5: In Lancaster, and we would just go to his house,
- 4:33Speaker 5: or he would come by our house, and we'd just
- 4:35Speaker 5: be hanging out, playing video games, music playing, and stuff
- 4:39Speaker 5: like that.
- 4:39Speaker 3: I think, along with him honing his sound.
- 4:45Speaker 5: our rhymes just seemed to like us just being around
- 4:48Speaker 5: each other and competing rap styles.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Like it was just healthy competition. I think we found it.
- 4:54Speaker 3: It was like our song making hitting a different level
- 4:56Speaker 3: in 06.
- 4:56Speaker 4: 06.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:58Speaker 6: Cause on top of that too, like he said, we
- 5:00Speaker 6: was kicking it. We had blue over here when he
- 5:02Speaker 6: was doing below the heavens. Then we was messing with
- 5:04Speaker 6: Mark Sparks about North Carolina and corrupt was over there. And, uh,
- 5:10Speaker 6: All type of cats. We was over just getting tutelage
- 5:12Speaker 6: up under Corrupt. He was helping us figure out stage
- 5:14Speaker 6: presence and.
- 5:15Speaker 3: How to do shows. Shout out to Speedy. Speedy, yeah.
- 5:18Speaker 4: Gotti Gotti, Speedy. Roscoe, Corrupt Brother, the whole YA.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Roscoe's verse on I Call Shots is up there.
- 5:26Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 5:27Speaker 6: We was around all that, so we had a good
- 5:29Speaker 6: dose of the gangster.
- 5:31Speaker 4: And the hip hop. We was in the middle of
- 5:33Speaker 4: all that.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Do you guys ever kind of think
- 5:37Speaker 1: back to that era of, because I feel like whatever
- 5:41Speaker 1: you want to call the blog era, and obviously some
- 5:44Speaker 1: people debate when it started, I think it kind of
- 5:46Speaker 1: probably ended in 2014, 15. I would say Chance was
- 5:51Speaker 1: probably the last superstar to come out of the blog era.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Pretty much, yeah.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Him and Joey, I would say.
- 5:57Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. I remember, yep.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Because, man, music back then was so... It was interesting
- 6:05Speaker 1: because now we have the algorithm... And everything's just readily available.
- 6:10Speaker 1: And I don't know how much of, like, what makes
- 6:15Speaker 1: a Spotify playlist runs through curators' hands or what runs through.
- 6:18Speaker 1: But back then, there were curators who ran these websites.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Oh, for sure.
- 6:22Speaker 4: Right?
- 6:23Speaker 1: And I always say, like, as much as it was
- 6:28Speaker 1: some gatekeeping shit, everyone had good taste.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Like, Shake and.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Mech from Two Dope Boys, I knew if they posted
- 6:34Speaker 1: some shit.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Right.
- 6:36Speaker 1: They had good taste. You know what I'm saying? For
- 6:40Speaker 1: y'all coming out of that era and being very active
- 6:42Speaker 1: in the middle of that, the peak of that shit,
- 6:45Speaker 1: what was it like for people who don't understand that
- 6:47Speaker 1: era of music and how different the industry was?
- 6:51Speaker 7: Man, that's a good question. When we first came upon
- 6:54Speaker 7: some of the blogs like Nah Right, 2 Dope Boys,
- 6:58Speaker 7: just like you said, we were discovering music on there
- 7:01Speaker 7: from artists that we probably never would have heard of.
- 7:04Speaker 7: And we were like, wow, this is good. But then we, like,
- 7:06Speaker 7: saw ourselves, like, how do we fit into this? And
- 7:09Speaker 7: it was like, we didn't even really have a connection
- 7:10Speaker 7: to any of these blogs, but we believed in our
- 7:14Speaker 7: music enough to say, hey, you know what? We fit.
- 7:17Speaker 1: We belong.
- 7:17Speaker 7: And when we started dropping it, I don't know how
- 7:20Speaker 7: the groundswell happened, but they picked right up on it,
- 7:23Speaker 7: and they found us. And it was just, like, synchronicity there.
- 7:28Speaker 7: So it all played a hand. Like, it was so
- 7:32Speaker 7: many dope blogs that at that time was, like, sprouting
- 7:35Speaker 7: up and and i don't know i i think it
- 7:39Speaker 7: was divine because we did we really didn't plan it
- 7:41Speaker 7: we didn't have a connection with any of the guys
- 7:44Speaker 7: really they just found our music and you know that.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Was it talk about your guys's early relationship with kendrick
- 7:52Speaker 1: because obviously kendrick uh you guys have a lot of
- 7:55Speaker 1: collaborations with kendrick um he was somebody who's who's you
- 7:58Speaker 1: know had a presence on on y'all's projects what what
- 8:01Speaker 1: because i feel like kendrick If you knew him back then, like,
- 8:04Speaker 1: I remember I first interviewed him in, like, 2011. He
- 8:08Speaker 1: freestyled on my show in Vegas in 2012. And it was, like,
- 8:13Speaker 1: he was just the most... I mean, and he is
- 8:15Speaker 1: an introvert, right? But, like, I feel like he had, like,
- 8:18Speaker 1: kind of a mind that you were like, oh, man,
- 8:20Speaker 1: if this guy could just figure it out. Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 8:24Speaker 3: It was clear. Like, he was meant.
- 8:26Speaker 5: Like, song presence is, like, a huge thing that he
- 8:31Speaker 5: has in, um.
- 8:33Speaker 3: And I feel like when he.
- 8:35Speaker 5: our first meeting him was when we, when he opened
- 8:38Speaker 5: for us at the Roxy, right?
- 8:39Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 8:40Speaker 5: That was our first meeting him. We was just hearing
- 8:42Speaker 5: his name. We was hearing about, it was section eight.
- 8:44Speaker 7: Well, we, we had a relationship with J-Rock.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:46Speaker 7: J-Rock was super cool.
- 8:47Speaker 1: He was the guy who started all the Top Dog shit.
- 8:50Speaker 7: He was, yeah, he was, we would see him frequently. Even,
- 8:52Speaker 7: even schoolboy, we see, we would see them more frequently.
- 8:55Speaker 7: But when we first met Dot, it was at the Roxy,
- 8:57Speaker 7: came into our green room and introduced himself. We were like,
- 9:00Speaker 7: we know that y'all need it, bro. We, we fuck
- 9:02Speaker 7: with your music. And it was, it was just mutual.
- 9:04Speaker 7: And then, um, got his email or number or something,
- 9:07Speaker 7: and I remember sending him the Sing About Me beat
- 9:10Speaker 7: when we were on tour with Mac Miller. And when
- 9:13Speaker 7: I emailed him that, he hit me back, like, two
- 9:15Speaker 7: hours later already writing to it, and he was like, oh,
- 9:18Speaker 7: this is crazy, you know? And I wasn't thinking enough
- 9:21Speaker 7: at the time that it would become, like.
- 9:23Speaker 1: What it is.
- 9:23Speaker 7: Yeah, and it's just like that album just took off.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:28Speaker 7: But he's super humble, super cool, and, like, at that time, like,
- 9:32Speaker 7: I'd say from 2012 to 2015, I don't know, before
- 9:36Speaker 7: he maybe changed his numbers or whatever, he would be
- 9:38Speaker 7: like the first person to text back if I ever
- 9:40Speaker 7: hit him and needed anything. Oh, man, I got you, man.
- 9:43Speaker 3: My love.
- 9:44Speaker 7: Not only are you one of the illest producers, man,
- 9:46Speaker 7: you guys are one of the best rappers. And we
- 9:48Speaker 7: was just like, yo, man, mutual, you know what I'm saying?
- 9:51Speaker 3: It was love.
- 9:52Speaker 5: Me and my wife ran into him and Whitney at like,
- 9:57Speaker 5: it was early in the morning. We was on our trip.
- 10:00Speaker 5: at the Jefferson Stairs.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Yeah, it was early in the morning.
- 10:04Speaker 5: We used to try to get there early. And then
- 10:07Speaker 5: Alana was like, that looks like Kendrick. I was like,
- 10:11Speaker 5: that might be Kendrick. So we walking down the stairs.
- 10:14Speaker 5: And then, like, we catch up to them because they
- 10:16Speaker 5: walking kind of slow.
- 10:17Speaker 3: We was walking. It was like, and I looked at him.
- 10:19Speaker 3: I was like, I knew that was you. He was like,
- 10:20Speaker 3: I knew that was you. And then we shook up.
- 10:23Speaker 3: And that was my first time getting this number.
- 10:25Speaker 5: And then I think shortly after that, we went to
- 10:27Speaker 5: that Samsung event that he did for Good Kid, Mad City.
- 10:30Speaker 3: It was like the release. It was cool, man.
- 10:33Speaker 4: And all the South by shit and all the promo runs. Yeah,
- 10:36Speaker 4: all the promo runs.
- 10:37Speaker 3: He had it backstage at the Beats thing.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Did Cross Trainers drop before or after Good Kid, Mad City?
- 10:44Speaker 3: After.
- 10:44Speaker 7: It was around that same time.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:46Speaker 7: It was around the same time. And that was funny
- 10:49Speaker 7: how that happened because we had that joint and just
- 10:52Speaker 7: sent it over and he sent it back and We
- 10:56Speaker 7: never got the stems, so we just mixed it in
- 10:59Speaker 7: with the tube trackers.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Oh, you never got stems?
- 11:01Speaker 7: I never got stems to that.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Hey, man, sometimes you got to do what you got
- 11:04Speaker 1: to do.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 11:06Speaker 1: You already know, baby, our family at Odd Socks. They
- 11:09Speaker 1: have been rocking with the Bootleg Head podcast since day one.

- 11:26Speaker 1: And I mean, it's the only socks I wear, the
- 11:28Speaker 1: only socks in my house. And obviously there's competing brands
- 11:33Speaker 1: that you might be used to wearing the white tube socks. Listen,
- 11:38Speaker 1: not only are these better, they're more affordable and they're
- 11:41Speaker 1: more comfortable. And when I say more affordable, I'm not playing.

- 12:25Speaker 1: that's crazy. Yeah, I mean, yeah, especially at that time,
- 12:30Speaker 1: you're like, yo, we got it, Kendrick, we got.
- 12:31Speaker 4: To figure it out. It's more raw that way.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 12:35Speaker 7: It felt real. It felt authentic.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Did you have, obviously, producing, obviously, the first half of
- 12:42Speaker 1: that record on good command city, did that result in like,
- 12:44Speaker 1: cause I feel like every once in a while you'll
- 12:46Speaker 1: see like, does that result in you getting a lot
- 12:49Speaker 1: more placements outside of packed in outside of your, your,
- 12:52Speaker 1: your circle?
- 12:53Speaker 7: It definitely helped for sure. Um, it was a thing where,
- 12:57Speaker 7: I mean, a lot of people still don't really even
- 12:58Speaker 7: know for real. They'd be like, wow, you made that beat.
- 13:01Speaker 7: I'm like, yeah, no, I did for sure. Um, but
- 13:04Speaker 7: I was able to get some placements even with Anderson
- 13:06Speaker 7: pack a couple of years after that. Um, A lot
- 13:10Speaker 7: of people will hit me and be like, yo, can
- 13:11Speaker 7: we get a beat to sing about me? It's like, bro,
- 13:13Speaker 7: that was that beat. I got other beats. They sound different.
- 13:18Speaker 7: Every beat's not going to sound like sing about me.
- 13:20Speaker 7: You know what I'm saying? But people just love that song,
- 13:23Speaker 7: and it impacted them so much. And I get it.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure. It's definitely one of those ones that like, oh, yeah. People,
- 13:30Speaker 1: if they love that song, they love it.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Yeah. That's my favorite Kendrick song.
- 13:34Speaker 7: Really?
- 13:34Speaker 3: Yes. That and Black of the Berry, those two.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Oh, Black of the Berry.
- 13:38Speaker 7: His catalog is crazy.
- 13:40Speaker 1: By the way, that's like a blog song, Black of
- 13:41Speaker 1: the Berry.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 13:43Speaker 1: So many of Kendrick's joints are like, joints?
- 13:46Speaker 5: Yeah no like cartoons and cereal yeah that shit is
- 13:51Speaker 5: like really b-side bro there's like but but the b-sides
- 13:55Speaker 5: are the best songs those are the ones that make
- 13:57Speaker 5: your fan base.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Dude i think back to like the kanye run when
- 13:59Speaker 1: he was doing the first friday shit and i'm like
- 14:01Speaker 1: dog why can't we just get all those songs oh
- 14:04Speaker 1: yeah on like the dsps together some of them ended
- 14:07Speaker 1: up on my beautiful dark twist of fantasy there's so
- 14:09Speaker 1: much shit that like It's just on YouTube.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:14Speaker 7: Well, going back to the blog era, that was kind
- 14:15Speaker 7: of the thing. Back in the day, people would release tapes.
- 14:19Speaker 7: They weren't. there wasn't really a Spotify and all that.
- 14:22Speaker 3: And there was no clearance shit. It was no clearance shit.
- 14:25Speaker 1: It's like, bro, it's a Z-share.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:27Speaker 7: So we're working on all that back catalog DSP shit
- 14:30Speaker 7: right now, too. Like, we got songs that aren't on,
- 14:33Speaker 7: you know, any of the platforms.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Speaking of that, we fighting with Universal about something.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Don't forget the Swishers, not on DSPs.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 14:40Speaker 7: It finally is. Don't mention it. Is it?
- 14:42Speaker 3: It just went out.
- 14:42Speaker 7: Yeah, it's finally out there.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Oh, just went out. So Apple and Spotify? Yeah. I
- 14:46Speaker 3: don't know if it's on Apple.
- 14:47Speaker 7: It's on Apple.
- 14:48Speaker 3: It's on Apple too, yeah. Oh yeah, I have it.
- 14:51Speaker 1: For you guys, in terms of just getting the old
- 14:53Speaker 1: shit up, is it a fight with Universal or is
- 14:56Speaker 1: it a fight with we got to go back and
- 14:58Speaker 1: clear the shit?
- 14:59Speaker 3: Both.
- 15:00Speaker 7: But I think more so the clearance. Even for the tape,
- 15:02Speaker 7: we have a tape called Mania where there's original songs
- 15:06Speaker 7: baked into the tape, but there's also songs we're rapping
- 15:08Speaker 7: over like Lorde's on the Underground and shit. So it's like,
- 15:12Speaker 7: what do we do? We could just do some straight
- 15:14Speaker 7: hip hop shit and just put it up and be like, hey,
- 15:17Speaker 7: You never get flagged. Yeah, if it gets flagged, it
- 15:19Speaker 7: gets flagged. That's kind of like the approach we kind
- 15:21Speaker 7: of want to take. I mean, that's hip-hop. That's hip-hop,
- 15:24Speaker 7: you know? But we don't want to cheat our fans
- 15:27Speaker 7: and not have music available for them to hear. Because
- 15:31Speaker 7: that piff, I don't even know if they're even a
- 15:33Speaker 7: thing anymore.
- 15:34Speaker 4: I don't even know. They're not up no more.
- 15:36Speaker 1: No, but is it gone? Is the backlog gone? Oh,
- 15:40Speaker 1: the archive? Yeah, the archive. That's what's important. I don't
- 15:43Speaker 1: give a fuck. They put new shit out there.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:46Speaker 7: And the Hip Hop DX is not there anymore. A
- 15:48Speaker 7: lot of the legacy blogs.
- 15:50Speaker 3: They just deleted all the articles on BET. Oh, yeah.
- 15:53Speaker 7: I just seen that, too.
- 15:54Speaker 5: BET.
- 15:54Speaker 7: Like, dude, we're losing recipes, man.
- 15:57Speaker 1: And what's crazy is if you think about what's wild
- 15:59Speaker 1: about that is how AI is getting integrated in everyone's lives.
- 16:03Speaker 1: They depend so much on using AI for research. And
- 16:06Speaker 1: if none of the source articles are there anymore.
- 16:08Speaker 7: They can just make up shit.
- 16:09Speaker 3: It's off.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Shit's missing.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Damn. Robot's lying to you.
- 16:14Speaker 4: Damn.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Robot?
- 16:15Speaker 1: Man, I'd be... I'll be asking Chad Shibuti. I'll be like,
- 16:17Speaker 1: I know that ain't right.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Trust me, Cav, it is.
- 16:24Speaker 7: It's turning into Skynet Terminator right now.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Yo, it's turning into... It's crazy. I feel like, not
- 16:30Speaker 1: to go on a weird tangent, I just feel like
- 16:31Speaker 1: we've been getting conditioned for the world we're in now
- 16:33Speaker 1: for our whole life. Just through Hollywood.
- 16:36Speaker 3: They was doing that with us.
- 16:39Speaker 7: They got a contract with the CIA.
- 16:41Speaker 1: I'm like, that's why it's like when all the new
- 16:43Speaker 1: alien shit drops, no one's tripping.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Here we go. This is what I wanted. There's new
- 16:46Speaker 3: alien footage.
- 16:47Speaker 4: There's no shot no more.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I've been watching alien movies my whole life.
- 16:50Speaker 3: Exactly. Of course they're here. Exactly. Hell yeah. They're a monster.
- 16:55Speaker 3: They don't give a fuck.
- 16:58Speaker 4: They're $ 20 eggs. They like, shit, I'm getting there.
- 17:03Speaker 3: I love Jamie Foxx, but do you really think that's him?
- 17:07Speaker 1: I don't know. I didn't know the old Jamie Foxx,
- 17:09Speaker 1: so I couldn't speak to the new Jamie Foxx. But
- 17:11Speaker 1: he was off the map for a sec.
- 17:13Speaker 3: He was, man.
- 17:14Speaker 4: It was weird.
- 17:15Speaker 7: And the tattoo disappeared. It was like a humble.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Oh, didn't he have the Mike Tyson tat?
- 17:19Speaker 7: Yeah, he had a tat on his back.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Which was a super interesting decision to be a superstar
- 17:24Speaker 1: and get that tattoo.
- 17:25Speaker 4: I wouldn't be surprised.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Um, if you guys, cause I think like, uh, the
- 17:30Speaker 1: blog area in general is like one thing, but who
- 17:32Speaker 1: would you guys put in terms of the West coast
- 17:34Speaker 1: blog era, like Mount Rushmore? If you guys obviously exclude yourselves.
- 17:40Speaker 7: Dom is there.
- 17:41Speaker 3: Nipsey. Um, yeah.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Nip was one of the ones. Kendrick.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Schoolboy. Uh, you and I. Human arms crazy. Who else? Overdose.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Overdose. I mean, shit, Odd Future. The early Odd Future shit.
- 17:54Speaker 7: Odd Future, yeah.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Even though they had the fuck 2 Dope Boys campaign going.
- 17:57Speaker 4: That's right.
- 17:59Speaker 1: They was beefing with 2 Dope Boys.
- 18:01Speaker 3: It was Earl and Shaq. Earl versus Shaq. It was
- 18:04Speaker 3: the funniest. It was Earl versus JPEG.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Do you remember when they also beefed with like... There
- 18:10Speaker 1: was the Lupe vs. 2 Dope Boys beef, too.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, I remember.
- 18:13Speaker 7: 2 Dope Boys had beef with Cass.
- 18:15Speaker 3: Bro, I was living in Vegas at the time. Yeah,
- 18:17Speaker 3: we was making it in Shake right there.
- 18:19Speaker 1: I remember Shake was like, bro, Lupe's fucking... I guess
- 18:22Speaker 1: they met backstage. I think it might have been the
- 18:24Speaker 1: Lasers tour.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 18:26Speaker 1: And, like, Shake was like, yo, he thinks I leaked
- 18:28Speaker 1: his album.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Like, he believes I leaked Lasers. Yeah, he believed it.
- 18:32Speaker 1: I'm like, nah, dog. Yeah, no, I think those are all...
- 18:35Speaker 1: I mean, I feel like what's crazy, too, about, like,
- 18:37Speaker 1: Outfuture is, like, Sometimes we forget, like, it's like ASAP Rocky.
- 18:42Speaker 1: I be forgetting how long Rocky's been a thing.
- 18:45Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Like, Tyler's been, like, a real, real thing since, like,
- 18:50Speaker 1: late 2011, 10?
- 18:50Speaker 3: Yeah, 10, 11.
- 18:51Speaker 5: I remember going to their first show at the airliner
- 18:56Speaker 5: just because I saw.
- 18:57Speaker 3: The, um, take my picture, baby. Take my picture. I
- 19:01Speaker 3: saw that video. You sent it to me. I was like,
- 19:03Speaker 3: this is kind of hard.
- 19:05Speaker 5: And then we went to the show. And seeing him,
- 19:07Speaker 5: they were kids, basically. Like, little Taco, he was, like, little.
- 19:12Speaker 5: And I think all of them were there.
- 19:15Speaker 3: I know we've been to Casey, though. We've been to, like,
- 19:19Speaker 3: Casey was around.
- 19:20Speaker 7: Casey Veggies, he's another person.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Casey's a West Coast blogger. Casey had a crazy run, man.
- 19:25Speaker 1: I remember him and Rocky Fresh, that joint project.
- 19:28Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, that was hard. They was going back and forth.
- 19:31Speaker 7: I give Wiz Khalifa honorary West Coast, just.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Because- I mean, he's been here, though. I mean- A lot.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:36Speaker 7: I think we were at his We did a show
- 19:38Speaker 7: at his very first show in Cali, or it was us, Problem,
- 19:42Speaker 7: and him in Ventura or somewhere. We did some shit.
- 19:45Speaker 7: Shout out to Earl Johnson.
- 19:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's when the Say Yeah song came out.
- 19:49Speaker 1: The Say Yeah. He was on Warner.
- 19:51Speaker 3: Exactly. Yeah.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Shout out to Wiz, man. What is something, because you
- 19:55Speaker 1: guys were, I guess you could say, wrapped up in
- 19:59Speaker 1: label stuff, trying to get out Grown Kid Syndrome. What
- 20:02Speaker 1: happens to that music, and why?
- 20:05Speaker 3: That's funny. Somebody asked me on Twitter the other day.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Where is that music? What happens when you get to
- 20:11Speaker 1: a point where you can't get around?
- 20:13Speaker 3: Yeah. Okay.
- 20:14Speaker 5: The first Church League, don't mention it, and Mania. Grown
- 20:18Speaker 5: Kid Syndrome was sprinkled in all of them.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Okay.
- 20:20Speaker 5: So the songs that were supposed to make Grown Kid Syndrome,
- 20:23Speaker 5: and there were some songs that I would never see
- 20:25Speaker 5: the light of day.
- 20:26Speaker 3: Right. But a lot of it was sprinkled in those
- 20:28Speaker 3: three projects.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Got it.
- 20:30Speaker 3: And the div. And the div too. So people basically
- 20:34Speaker 3: got Grown Kids Central.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Just threw it.
- 20:36Speaker 3: It's broken up. I was just wondering.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Because I know sometimes major labels will be like, well,
- 20:40Speaker 1: if you record it in our budget, we got to.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Yeah, you know that. You can't take it with you. Exactly. Exactly.
- 20:46Speaker 3: We just let enough time go by. I was hoping they'd.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Listen to me. I'm saying that that had to be like, because...
- 20:55Speaker 1: Even getting signed back then. What year did you guys
- 20:57Speaker 1: sign with Universal?
- 20:57Speaker 3: 08.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Oh, wait. So even getting signed in 08 is different
- 21:01Speaker 1: than getting signed in 2011. Oh, my God.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Big time.
- 21:03Speaker 1: That's a whole new musical sound scale.
- 21:05Speaker 5: Spotify streaming was there. It was official in 2011.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Was it? I don't think it was yet.
- 21:12Speaker 3: Oh, it was 2012. That's when... No, I'm saying.
- 21:14Speaker 1: But the blog era exists. So now motherfuckers are getting
- 21:16Speaker 1: signed off of free projects.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:19Speaker 1: But I'm like, oh, in 2008... You guys performed... Was
- 21:23Speaker 1: it for Sylvia Roan?
- 21:25Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. You remember that? Mm-hmm. We, uh... We was.
- 21:30Speaker 5: It was crazy because, um... The first dude to call
- 21:32Speaker 5: us was Ludacris and Shaka Zulu.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Remember? So DTP called? DTP. DTP called us. We had a...
- 21:38Speaker 3: We had dinner with them and Mr. Chow. Yeah, yeah. And, um...
- 21:41Speaker 3: Jermaine Dupri.
- 21:42Speaker 5: Jermaine Dupri called us right after that. And then Sylvia, um...
- 21:47Speaker 5: Her assistant, um... This guy named Justin. He, um.
- 21:50Speaker 3: He was just breaking the doors down, trying to get
- 21:53Speaker 3: her to bring us in.
- 21:54Speaker 5: Bring them in, bring them in. So we met with Sylvia.
- 21:57Speaker 5: She said she wanted to sign us off the first interaction.
- 22:01Speaker 5: And then Jimmy Iovine caught wind because his son went
- 22:05Speaker 5: to Arizona.
- 22:06Speaker 7: Yeah, but shout out to Terry and Earl, too. They
- 22:08Speaker 7: was really foundational in getting us in those rooms. And
- 22:12Speaker 7: they were the ones who plugged us with our videos
- 22:15Speaker 7: on MTV Jams.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Oh, fire. Along with Merce.
- 22:17Speaker 7: I want to say shout out Merce because he actually...
- 22:20Speaker 7: silently funded uh yeah one of our videos and we
- 22:25Speaker 7: had no clue till later i was like man i
- 22:27Speaker 7: was like real foundational so he was mercy's right before
- 22:30Speaker 7: the blog era but we want to give a major
- 22:32Speaker 7: shout out to bruh because he was like super foundational
- 22:35Speaker 7: and a lot of shit on top of just.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Being and he turned that into like a major label
- 22:39Speaker 1: release like when he put out the merch for.
- 22:41Speaker 7: President yeah yeah yeah he did i forget.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Was that on warner i remember who but he got
- 22:46Speaker 1: one out like he got a My favorite. After coming
- 22:48Speaker 1: from Def Jux.
- 22:49Speaker 8: Right.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:50Speaker 7: My favorite.
- 22:50Speaker 3: Him and Night Wonder.
- 22:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:51Speaker 7: Him and Night Wonder tape.
- 22:52Speaker 1: That's perfect. The two projects that him and Night did forever.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Untouched. Yeah.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Was it 316?
- 22:58Speaker 3: Yes. Verse 316.
- 23:00Speaker 7: The black and white cover.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:01Speaker 7: That was insane.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Shit's classics. Shout out to Night, man.
- 23:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:07Speaker 3: He's one of our big homies for sure. Him and
- 23:09Speaker 3: Young Guru. Shout out to Young Guru and Night Wonder.
- 23:12Speaker 3: They are big homies for sure.
- 23:15Speaker 1: How do you guys... Because I feel like you guys
- 23:16Speaker 1: kind of always are associated with Cool Kids. Because you
- 23:22Speaker 1: guys were... At the time, there's not a lot of
- 23:24Speaker 1: groups out. At the time, you guys were like the groups,
- 23:26Speaker 1: you know? Talk about y'all's... And they were in L.A., obviously.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Over the years, how would you describe how you guys'
- 23:34Speaker 1: relationship has been? And I feel like you guys don't
- 23:37Speaker 1: get enough flowers collectively between the two of y'all.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Well, naturally....
- 23:43Speaker 6: It's just a cool thing. Even before the music, we
- 23:45Speaker 6: just fucked with them, too. We met their parents and
- 23:49Speaker 6: all that type of shit. Once you meet people's parents
- 23:52Speaker 6: and you spend legit time with them, you spend a night,
- 23:54Speaker 6: y'all do real shit together, it becomes a different type
- 23:58Speaker 6: of respect, for sure. Let alone the music was dope
- 24:01Speaker 6: and the shows we did, we did the tours and shit.
- 24:04Speaker 4: Right.
- 24:06Speaker 6: Like everywhere across the country we've been together.
- 24:08Speaker 4: We then got faded and got lost in houses and
- 24:10Speaker 4: shit together.
- 24:12Speaker 3: In Arizona?
- 24:13Speaker 4: Yeah, like all type of shit.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Hey, that's why we went.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Was that when you guys were on.
- 24:18Speaker 3: We did the 2K tour.
- 24:19Speaker 4: We had a tour bus.
- 24:21Speaker 3: This was our first time on the tour bus. Wait,
- 24:22Speaker 3: was that.
- 24:23Speaker 1: I might have been at that tour.
- 24:25Speaker 3: You might have been.
- 24:26Speaker 7: You talking about the tour with Q-Tip?
- 24:27Speaker 1: Q-Tip. Oh, yeah, I was there.
- 24:28Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:30Speaker 1: By the way, that Q-Tip album is so underrated.
- 24:32Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh. There's people giving them those flowers today.
- 24:36Speaker 3: It's kind of crazy.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I was at that show.
- 24:38Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 24:38Speaker 3: Yeah, that's crazy. Did you go to the one in
- 24:40Speaker 3: Vegas with Prince? No, no, no, no.
- 24:42Speaker 1: I lived in Phoenix.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 24:44Speaker 1: No, but yeah, I was at the Q-Tip show.
- 24:45Speaker 7: Yeah, that was a great show.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Yeah. Did you guys do the Cool Kids Tour too
- 24:49Speaker 1: or no?
- 24:49Speaker 5: Yeah, it was the 2K tour was the first tour
- 24:51Speaker 5: we went on. Then we went on tour with Q-Tip.
- 24:53Speaker 7: It wasn't the same tour?
- 24:55Speaker 3: It wasn't the same tour.
- 24:56Speaker 1: I just remember buying like, I want to say I
- 24:57Speaker 1: bought like a, was it a Famous Stars and Straps
- 25:00Speaker 1: Cool Kids Collab Tea at the merch booth? It was
- 25:04Speaker 1: random as fuck.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:06Speaker 1: But yeah, I went to both of those. I went
- 25:08Speaker 1: to both of those shows. If it was two separate things,
- 25:11Speaker 1: I went to both. Yeah.
- 25:13Speaker 2: You got lost at a house in Arizona? Too poppin'.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Was it like a house party?
- 25:18Speaker 3: Yeah, it was like, you.
- 25:19Speaker 5: Know, then the college chicks started coming up.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Oh, because right there, I mean, you guys were performing
- 25:24Speaker 1: at 10 p.m. at ASU right there.
- 25:26Speaker 7: And then our homie was going to school at Arizona
- 25:28Speaker 7: State there, so he was like, yo, we got this
- 25:30Speaker 7: little after party thing. We get there. It was a
- 25:33Speaker 7: bunch of women, and we was just like not prepared.
- 25:37Speaker 5: We're just going to go where they take us.
- 25:41Speaker 7: And we end up going back to this place. I
- 25:44Speaker 7: don't know.
- 25:44Speaker 3: It was an apartment complex. I don't know where it was.
- 25:47Speaker 1: That's funny. The apartment complex should have been a red flag.
- 25:49Speaker 3: Wait, wait, where were we at?
- 25:51Speaker 1: An apartment complex.
- 25:52Speaker 6: It was like, Arizona State is a place where you
- 25:55Speaker 6: get like jello shots.
- 25:56Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. Yes, 100%.
- 25:58Speaker 4: Shotgun beers and all that.
- 26:00Speaker 3: And herpes. Exactly.
- 26:02Speaker 1: They get your herpes and jello shots.
- 26:05Speaker 7: That sounds crazy.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Nigga wake up with pink eye. Exactly. Nah, because this
- 26:09Speaker 3: shit wasn't like this.
- 26:10Speaker 4: So Rich, he had to find us.
- 26:11Speaker 5: So I don't know how he found us. That time
- 26:15Speaker 5: Rich found a like in New York.
- 26:17Speaker 3: It was the wildest thing ever, man.
- 26:20Speaker 7: You know, we were in our early 20s at the time.
- 26:22Speaker 7: So everything, we're traveling the world, or the country, rapping.
- 26:26Speaker 7: We were feeling like baby rap stars. So we're in
- 26:29Speaker 7: different parts. And this is when Hennessy was just like
- 26:32Speaker 7: water to us.
- 26:34Speaker 1: I mean, I think everyone had a Hennessy era.
- 26:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:40Speaker 1: I feel like even if you aren't a Hennessy person,
- 26:42Speaker 1: you might've had a Henny like summer.
- 26:44Speaker 7: I almost put it on the writer for the show
- 26:46Speaker 7: Saturday just off GP. But I was like, I started thinking,
- 26:49Speaker 7: I was like.
- 26:51Speaker 3: We can't handle it. Like we used to.
- 26:54Speaker 1: So, so the new project, uh, by the time this
- 26:57Speaker 1: is out, it'll be out, but talk about, uh, cause
- 26:59Speaker 1: it's your first album in how long?
- 27:01Speaker 7: Eight years.
- 27:01Speaker 3: Eight years.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:03Speaker 7: And, yeah.
- 27:04Speaker 1: That's a minute.
- 27:05Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah. And for us to still, like, still have
- 27:07Speaker 7: it is just, like, a testament to just, like, our
- 27:10Speaker 7: ability musically, sonically. Like, we really take this music serious.
- 27:14Speaker 7: We've been rapping since we were, like, five, four years old. And,
- 27:16Speaker 7: you know what I'm saying? It's just like second nature.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Actively, how long was music for this album being worked on?
- 27:25Speaker 3: Man, we have a song in there that's from... When
- 27:28Speaker 3: did we do... 2017.
- 27:28Speaker 6: 2017.
- 27:28Speaker 7: We have a song in there. And it's timeless because
- 27:33Speaker 7: nobody will know the song because it's just... We don't
- 27:37Speaker 7: make music where it's like a dated thing.
- 27:39Speaker 3: Yeah. So it just feels.
- 27:41Speaker 1: So it feels right.
- 27:42Speaker 7: Exactly.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Why do you feel like the timing is right to
- 27:45Speaker 1: be like, okay, let's stop fucking around. Let's put this
- 27:47Speaker 1: music out.
- 27:47Speaker 3: I think it's like... It's divine. Like you said earlier because....
- 27:54Speaker 5: It is the 20th anniversary since the blend, uh, silver freshness,
- 27:58Speaker 5: the blend tape and naming it still seal volume one
- 28:03Speaker 5: is just an old to the, the 20 year, you know,
- 28:06Speaker 5: gap between our first mixtape and now. And, um, I
- 28:11Speaker 5: felt like it was just time.
- 28:12Speaker 3: Like we were, you know what I mean? Like we
- 28:13Speaker 3: were making good songs.
- 28:14Speaker 5: Like we, I remember like, wow, I go to his
- 28:17Speaker 5: spot to record a lot. And, and I think it
- 28:21Speaker 5: was like when we did all gas, uh, was the
- 28:23Speaker 5: moment I was like, oh yeah, we have a tape.
- 28:25Speaker 5: We have an album. And it wasn't even all the
- 28:28Speaker 5: way done, but it was just like, oh yeah, we
- 28:30Speaker 5: got it. Because the way it just felt coming out,
- 28:33Speaker 5: it was just, yeah. So I think it was a
- 28:37Speaker 5: natural thing, a natural progression.
- 28:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I feel like too, I feel like
- 28:42Speaker 1: we're in this, for whatever reason, You already know Arizona, man.
- 28:48Speaker 1: The Bootleg Head Podcast brought to you by our partners
- 28:51Speaker 1: at Raffy Law Group. Now, we love Raffy Law Group, man.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Arizona's premier personal injury firm. What I love about Raffy
- 28:57Speaker 1: is they're so dependable, so trustworthy, and they get the

- 29:04Speaker 2: I know you see the billboards everywhere.
- 29:05Speaker 1: I know you can't avoid seeing my man Raffy's face everywhere,
- 29:09Speaker 1: but it's because he is the absolute best, all right?
- 29:12Speaker 1: He's helped my wife. Get through an accident situation, got
- 29:15Speaker 1: her paid. My mother-in-law, same situation. My best friend's parents
- 29:20Speaker 1: just used Raffi and got a big payday. So make
- 29:22Speaker 1: sure if you get into an accident, if you need help,
- 29:25Speaker 1: all right, it could be an accident. It could be
- 29:27Speaker 1: a slip and fall. It could be any personal injury situation.
- 29:30Speaker 2: They're going to take care of it, all right? All
- 29:32Speaker 2: you got to do is call Rafi.
- 29:33Speaker 1: You know what it is, man.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Call Rafi.
- 29:36Speaker 3: 623-388-4333.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Rafi Law Group.
- 29:40Speaker 1: The only personal injury law firm that we will ever
- 29:43Speaker 1: rock with right here on the Blue Lake Head podcast.
- 29:45Speaker 2: Shout out to our brothers at Hardeen, man. Utz family,
- 29:48Speaker 2: of course. They've been sponsoring the podcast for years now.
- 29:50Speaker 2: You've been seeing the mic flag for years now. Want
- 29:53Speaker 2: to give a shout out to our brothers. I just
- 29:54Speaker 2: was in Vegas. I had to pull up.
- 29:56Speaker 4: All right.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Look, it's the number one dispensary in the world. When
- 29:59Speaker 1: I tell you, you walk in that thing and the
- 30:02Speaker 1: bud tenders are great. They take care of you immediately.
- 30:04Speaker 1: The selection is great. So when you go to Vegas,
- 30:07Speaker 1: you get into that cab, you get into that Uber,
- 30:09Speaker 1: immediately say, take me to Hardeen. They'll know what they're doing.
- 30:11Speaker 1: All right.
- 30:12Speaker 2: They go get you right.
- 30:13Speaker 3: All right.
- 30:13Speaker 2: The number one premium cannabis dispensary in the world.
- 30:16Speaker 1: They just got me right. I was just in town
- 30:18Speaker 1: for Rafi's birthday. Had to pull up, get right. Get
- 30:21Speaker 1: this nice little one-on-one Hardeen jersey. These are not available.
- 30:26Speaker 1: All right, shout out to them, man. All right, salute
- 30:28Speaker 1: to the family. Follow them on Instagram, Hardeen underscore Las Vegas.
- 30:31Speaker 1: All right, let's get back to the podcast. You know,
- 30:33Speaker 1: I think about this festival that's coming, well, this show
- 30:35Speaker 1: on Saturday, the Control at the Elite Festival, which is
- 30:37Speaker 1: like an homage to like an era of music. Like,
- 30:41Speaker 1: cool kids just dropped. I know you guys did the L.A.
- 30:44Speaker 1: show with them. I feel like, you know, I think
- 30:46Speaker 1: like y'all's era is finally kind of getting like some appreciation.
- 30:50Speaker 1: In the same way, like, bro, it's kind of weird. Like,
- 30:52Speaker 1: there's like teenage kids that are, like, my son is,
- 30:55Speaker 1: a child, and he loves MF Doom, and.
- 30:57Speaker 7: I don't understand that, bro.
- 30:59Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 31:00Speaker 1: I got to understand what's going on. I'm like, bro,
- 31:01Speaker 1: you like MF Doom?
- 31:02Speaker 5: Somebody was telling me, he told me a couple things,
- 31:05Speaker 5: and we was having a conversation, me and Jitta. He said,
- 31:08Speaker 5: he was like, man, the kids who were the SoundCloud era,
- 31:12Speaker 5: remember when they popped out all the Lil Uzi's, the
- 31:16Speaker 5: Cardi's and stuff?
- 31:17Speaker 3: If you're not one of them, you copied one of them.
- 31:22Speaker 3: And now you're burnt out. You're burnt out. You got
- 31:25Speaker 3: the face tattoos. You probably OD'd a few times.
- 31:28Speaker 5: So, so life and your music is stale because of that.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:33Speaker 5: So he said, but the blog era, they didn't do that.
- 31:36Speaker 5: None of us did that. None of us got, you
- 31:37Speaker 5: know what I mean? None of us, we was all
- 31:40Speaker 5: like really, it was real music.
- 31:42Speaker 1: And, um, And everybody was hella cool for sure.
- 31:44Speaker 3: Like, for the most part.
- 31:45Speaker 7: You know what I'm saying?
- 31:46Speaker 3: Like, we hung out.
- 31:46Speaker 7: There was no egos.
- 31:47Speaker 3: Like, Freddie Gibbs. Like, how much we used to kick
- 31:50Speaker 3: it with Freddie Gibbs.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Shout out to Gibbs. He's my favorite gay rapper. I'm sorry.
- 31:55Speaker 1: He posted me on his story. He posted yesterday on
- 31:58Speaker 1: his story that I like to suck dick.
- 32:01Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Shout out to Freddie.
- 32:03Speaker 3: You guys have a great relationship. Yeah.
- 32:04Speaker 1: We've all seen his asshole on Twitter. Shout out to Freddie.
- 32:07Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 32:09Speaker 1: I love that guy.
- 32:11Speaker 5: But another thing he said was like, yeah, people complaining
- 32:14Speaker 5: about there's no number ones in hip hop.
- 32:16Speaker 3: You know, the Billboard number one.
- 32:18Speaker 1: I don't think that's a problem.
- 32:19Speaker 3: That's a great thing.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:22Speaker 1: That's how it was low-key. If you think back then,
- 32:25Speaker 1: it was like Drake was just starting. Drake is a
- 32:27Speaker 1: blogger artist.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Yes, for sure, to the max.
- 32:30Speaker 1: So it's like you really had Lil Wayne back then.
- 32:32Speaker 1: If you're thinking like, oh, wait, was Carter III, like Jay-Z?
- 32:36Speaker 5: I feel like Lil Wayne and Kanye were the cutoff
- 32:39Speaker 5: between the old guard and the blogger.
- 32:43Speaker 3: And Soulja Boy was one of them. He was part
- 32:47Speaker 3: of the old guard, too.
- 32:48Speaker 7: Shout-outs to your son for having wonderful taste in liking Doom.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Like yeah no but just it's weird because like my
- 32:54Speaker 1: son is a kid and he'd be like yo dad
- 32:57Speaker 1: you like mf doom and i'm.
- 32:58Speaker 7: Like how does he know about that.
- 33:01Speaker 1: Yeah like how the fuck did you find out like
- 33:04Speaker 1: i just interviewed czar face uh esoteric and 7l that's
- 33:08Speaker 1: dope and we were talking like tom hardy there no
- 33:11Speaker 1: frankie pulitzer didn't pull up but uh i was just
- 33:14Speaker 1: telling him i was like dude like it's something about
- 33:17Speaker 1: the imagery of MF Doom that has like resonated with
- 33:20Speaker 1: the kids.
- 33:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:22Speaker 1: And I think that they have like their own version
- 33:24Speaker 1: of that going in their own world with the Tsar
- 33:27Speaker 1: face thing where it's like, it's the music is incredible,
- 33:31Speaker 1: but it's all the most like underground, like the branding.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Like Mad Villain is like one of the greatest albums ever,
- 33:38Speaker 1: but it's like also like, If you know, you know,
- 33:43Speaker 1: niche album to love.
- 33:44Speaker 7: But that's how we felt, though, when we saw Lu-Pack.
- 33:47Speaker 3: Yeah, Lu-Pack. Child to Matter, Killer Army, Wu-Tang.
- 33:50Speaker 1: It's like.
- 33:53Speaker 7: Larger than the artist.
- 33:56Speaker 4: It was like the aesthetic of it.
- 33:59Speaker 3: The artwork was like hand-drawn type stuff.
- 34:01Speaker 4: It's like comic book shit.
- 34:02Speaker 6: The same way kids are like comic book shit, like
- 34:05Speaker 6: old comic book shit.
- 34:05Speaker 5: And hopefully people look at us that way. That's what
- 34:09Speaker 5: we want to be like.
- 34:11Speaker 1: Other tours that you guys were on that I attended
- 34:14Speaker 1: was the Blue Slide Tour.
- 34:16Speaker 7: Yeah, shout out Mac Miller.
- 34:17Speaker 1: Shout out to Mac. That was... Shit, man. I don't
- 34:22Speaker 1: even know what year that was.
- 34:23Speaker 4: 2011.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Yeah, so that night he came on my show and
- 34:26Speaker 1: we got fucked up because the radio station in Vegas
- 34:29Speaker 1: I worked at was connected to a daiquiri bar. The
- 34:32Speaker 1: owner of the radio station also owned a daiquiri bar
- 34:36Speaker 1: across the street from Mandalay Bay. Oh my God. So
- 34:38Speaker 1: if you watch on YouTube... It's like me and Mac
- 34:41Speaker 1: Miller with these giant, just ignorant Vegas drinks.
- 34:45Speaker 3: Big ass handle on it.
- 34:48Speaker 4: I love those.
- 34:49Speaker 1: And that night, you guys did House of Blues in Vegas.
- 34:53Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 34:53Speaker 1: And that was the first time I ever saw him
- 34:55Speaker 1: play guitar.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. That was amazing, man.
- 34:57Speaker 1: I forget what song he covered.
- 34:59Speaker 5: He did Sweet Home Alabama, one of them shows. He
- 35:01Speaker 5: was playing it behind his head. I was like, oh,
- 35:04Speaker 5: this is why.
- 35:06Speaker 1: And it's crazy, too, because Blue Slide Park is my
- 35:08Speaker 1: least favorite Mac Miller project. But it's just crazy to
- 35:13Speaker 1: think at that moment, he was the hottest thing smoking.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Blue Slide Park, I forget the numbers it did. it
- 35:20Speaker 1: did good for an indie album as an independent album
- 35:23Speaker 1: it did like it was like number one at the
- 35:25Speaker 1: time it was like set a record it was like
- 35:27Speaker 1: in the mix for like the most indie first week
- 35:30Speaker 1: hip hop album.
- 35:30Speaker 3: Ever he had beef with Donald Trump over that.
- 35:33Speaker 1: Album was Donald Trump on Blue Side Park yeah.
- 35:36Speaker 3: I think it was it might have been or.
- 35:38Speaker 1: What was the Frick Park Market Frick Park Market that
- 35:43Speaker 1: was the single but nonetheless you guys are around Mack
- 35:47Speaker 1: you guys were able to collaborate with him um also
- 35:50Speaker 1: a guy who whose music has aged very gracefully and
- 35:57Speaker 1: who has just kind of moved past his life with
- 36:02Speaker 1: this cult following where all of the kids are like
- 36:06Speaker 1: shit when mac was lit they was like six and
- 36:09Speaker 1: now like mac miller has become and he was always
- 36:12Speaker 1: this super musical guy and And, you know, the one
- 36:15Speaker 1: thing I loved about Mac is, like, when he dropped kids, like,
- 36:17Speaker 1: you knew, like, oh, this fool's a hip-hop head. He
- 36:19Speaker 1: was doing, like, Static Selecta and, like, fucking bigging up
- 36:22Speaker 1: Big L and shit.
- 36:23Speaker 7: Or Finesse.
- 36:24Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 36:25Speaker 1: But what was, from your guys' perspective, what was it
- 36:28Speaker 1: like working with Mac, being with Mac, and what was
- 36:29Speaker 1: that tour like?
- 36:31Speaker 6: I mean, even before the tour, the crazy part was
- 36:34Speaker 6: when our first show was in Pittsburgh.
- 36:36Speaker 1: I think I got the story. I think I got
- 36:39Speaker 1: the sticker.
- 36:39Speaker 7: Oh, yeah, I see it right there.
- 36:41Speaker 4: It was probably like maybe a year and a half
- 36:44Speaker 4: before that.
- 36:44Speaker 3: That's the sticker right there.
- 36:46Speaker 4: He was like 17.
- 36:47Speaker 6: And he snuck backstage of one of our Pittsburgh shows
- 36:51Speaker 6: and introduced himself to my brother D.
- 36:53Speaker 3: Young, Allstate.
- 36:55Speaker 4: And then he made his way backstage into the green
- 36:57Speaker 4: rooms like this.
- 36:58Speaker 3: Yo.
- 36:58Speaker 6: I love y'all shit, blah, blah, blah. Nobody even knew
- 37:01Speaker 6: who Mack was like that. Just people in Pittsburgh.
- 37:03Speaker 7: Right, right, right, right, right.
- 37:04Speaker 4: He snuck into the green room and introduced himself. Smoked
- 37:08Speaker 4: with us everything. He's like, oh, you guys got weed
- 37:10Speaker 4: back here?
- 37:10Speaker 3: He was like, amazing.
- 37:11Speaker 4: We were just.
- 37:11Speaker 3: Blowing in the green room.
- 37:12Speaker 7: And then he showed us the video he had over
- 37:15Speaker 7: the Lord Finesse video. And it only had like 17,000
- 37:19Speaker 7: plays at the time. And he only had like maybe
- 37:21Speaker 7: 20,000 Twitter followers. And so like, we was like right
- 37:25Speaker 7: at the beginning.
- 37:25Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 37:26Speaker 7: But he was like a huge fan and he was like,
- 37:29Speaker 7: just show love yeah show.
- 37:31Speaker 1: Love I feel like too with him man like if
- 37:34Speaker 1: you knew him you knew he was just like the
- 37:35Speaker 1: nicest fucking he was cool as hell bro he was
- 37:38Speaker 1: so no matter what he was going through because obviously
- 37:40Speaker 1: he had his battles with you know whatever he had
- 37:42Speaker 1: his battles with but he was always you've never seen
- 37:44Speaker 1: it yeah he was just cool as fuck man yeah
- 37:47Speaker 1: and one of the best performers he turned into one
- 37:50Speaker 1: of the best performers yeah because I saw him do
- 37:52Speaker 1: that tour where he was headlining with it was him
- 37:57Speaker 1: Chance opened oh wow Action opened. Joey?
- 38:02Speaker 3: Was it in stadiums?
- 38:04Speaker 1: No, no. It was like in Phoenix City Celebrity Theater,
- 38:07Speaker 1: but he had the band going.
- 38:09Speaker 3: I was like, this motherfucker.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Yeah. He was an alien, bro. Definitely an alien.
- 38:15Speaker 3: Definitely so musically inclined.
- 38:18Speaker 5: I was just watching him do a cover of a
- 38:22Speaker 5: Stevie Wonder song, playing it and singing it.
- 38:24Speaker 3: I was like, God damn, where'd they find this? He
- 38:27Speaker 3: was just killing it.
- 38:28Speaker 4: Old soul, another old soul for sure.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Any crazy stories from the tour? Any thing that sticks
- 38:33Speaker 1: out touring.
- 38:33Speaker 3: With Matt Miller?
- 38:35Speaker 6: We was in a spot with a plate of wings
- 38:37Speaker 6: that was probably as big as this table.
- 38:39Speaker 3: Yeah, in Tampa. He was like, we didn't know he
- 38:43Speaker 3: was going to be there. Did we know? Or he
- 38:44Speaker 3: told us to meet him there.
- 38:45Speaker 4: Yeah, we weren't sure.
- 38:46Speaker 5: He was like, we were just, okay, we were going
- 38:48Speaker 5: to be there. But we put some shrooms. in the joint.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Wait, you guys were smoking trumes?
- 38:55Speaker 3: Trumes.
- 38:55Speaker 5: We was just like, we were bored. You know, you're
- 38:57Speaker 5: on tour, you're like, after the show, you're just like, man,
- 39:00Speaker 5: what are we going to do?
- 39:01Speaker 3: A little bit.
- 39:02Speaker 4: It wasn't crazy.
- 39:03Speaker 1: No, but still, I know you can eat that.
- 39:05Speaker 3: But it was like the greatest high ever.
- 39:08Speaker 5: It was like, you felt like, we all felt.
- 39:10Speaker 3: Like the confidence levels were just through the roof.
- 39:13Speaker 6: It was to where you could still gauge the shit.
- 39:15Speaker 6: It wasn't just like a whole bunch. It was finely
- 39:16Speaker 6: chopped up and mixed with the treats. So that shit
- 39:19Speaker 6: was like, we.
- 39:20Speaker 3: Went, we went, we saw him.
- 39:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 39:23Speaker 3: It was like a, we had to look behind the
- 39:25Speaker 3: plate of wings. It was like a mountain of wings.
- 39:27Speaker 1: So Max was sitting there with a mountain of wings.
- 39:29Speaker 3: You guys are shroomed the fuck out.
- 39:31Speaker 4: Probably another handle, a gallon of Hennessy with the big
- 39:34Speaker 4: ass wings. Oh, you guys cross-faded, yeah.
- 39:37Speaker 3: Cross-faded. That was a great experience, man.
- 39:41Speaker 4: We had Thanksgiving and shit together on that tour, too.
- 39:43Speaker 5: I think Anwar and Casey both went with us.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Where do you have Thanksgiving at on the tour? Is
- 39:49Speaker 1: it at a hotel?
- 39:50Speaker 3: It was at a hotel, yeah.
- 39:51Speaker 4: Was we in Detroit?
- 39:52Speaker 7: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
- 39:54Speaker 3: Damn, you remember.
- 39:54Speaker 7: Because I made the Kendrick beat that night.
- 39:56Speaker 3: Wow.
- 39:57Speaker 1: So you made the Kendrick beat on tour with Mac
- 40:00Speaker 1: Miller in South Carolina on Thanksgiving.
- 40:02Speaker 3: Yep. Crazy.
- 40:03Speaker 7: I'll never forget it. because Nolan was with us. And
- 40:07Speaker 7: one of my locks, my locks were small at the time,
- 40:09Speaker 7: but one of them was standing up like an antenna.
- 40:12Speaker 7: And he caught.
- 40:13Speaker 3: A picture of that. Yeah. But yeah, I remember that.
- 40:18Speaker 7: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
- 40:19Speaker 3: You was getting the download.
- 40:20Speaker 4: Yeah, it was download mail.
- 40:22Speaker 1: That's fucking diabolical. That's awesome. Shout out to Mac. Shout
- 40:26Speaker 1: out to Quentin and the whole team.
- 40:27Speaker 5: Crew man that was the tour also we found out
- 40:31Speaker 5: about Rocky A $.
- 40:32Speaker 1: AP Rocky that was.
- 40:34Speaker 5: The soundtrack of the whole like driving through America was
- 40:38Speaker 5: listening to live love that's the first one the first long.
- 40:43Speaker 3: Live A $ AP I.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Always confuse the album and the tape cause the names
- 40:47Speaker 1: are similar me too I think it was long.
- 40:50Speaker 4: Live A $ AP.
- 40:51Speaker 1: You think the tape though the tape yeah the tape
- 40:53Speaker 1: was crazy and then one train on the album was. Yeah, yeah.
- 40:57Speaker 1: One Train's such a good snapshot of, like.
- 40:59Speaker 3: The blog era. The blog era. It's like... Everything goes
- 41:03Speaker 3: back to the blog era.
- 41:04Speaker 1: No, but I think that song, if I ever tell anybody,
- 41:06Speaker 1: they'll be like, yo, man, just go listen to One Train.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Danny Brown's on there.
- 41:09Speaker 3: Kendrick's on there.
- 41:11Speaker 1: Bronson's on there.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Yellow Wolf's on there.
- 41:14Speaker 4: What was the joint with Schoolboy?
- 41:16Speaker 3: Was, uh.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Hands on the Wheel?
- 41:18Speaker 3: Oh, no, no, no. The other one, no, no. Brand
- 41:19Speaker 3: New Guy. Brand New Guy. That shit, man. That was
- 41:22Speaker 3: the song of that tour.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 41:24Speaker 4: Shout out Schoolboy.
- 41:25Speaker 1: What a time.
- 41:26Speaker 6: Man, shout out Mike Lace, because he was bumping that
- 41:28Speaker 6: shit with his two, the homie Mike Lace from Grand Hustle.
- 41:31Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 41:32Speaker 1: So are you guys, because I feel like there's some
- 41:38Speaker 1: energy behind Pac Div again, are you guys going to
- 41:40Speaker 1: continue to work on, like obviously this album's going to
- 41:43Speaker 1: come out.
- 41:43Speaker 3: Oh yeah, there's a volume two.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Well, I was going to say, the volume one might
- 41:46Speaker 1: be a, you know. Yeah, there's another one coming.
- 41:50Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, volume two is already. In the can,
- 41:53Speaker 4: pretty much.
- 41:54Speaker 3: Nice.
- 41:55Speaker 7: But we work it on the tape with the cool
- 41:56Speaker 7: kids as well. We got a super group called Starting Five.
- 42:00Speaker 1: Oh, I like that.
- 42:00Speaker 7: So we're going to drop a couple volumes and then
- 42:04Speaker 7: get to work on that.
- 42:05Speaker 1: Do the vinyl thing?
- 42:06Speaker 7: Yeah, definitely do vinyl. And we're just like in our
- 42:09Speaker 7: second prime again. You know what I'm saying? It's like
- 42:11Speaker 7: the unks are up.
- 42:12Speaker 3: You feel me?
- 42:12Speaker 7: The unks are up.
- 42:14Speaker 3: Unks are up.
- 42:14Speaker 1: I think you guys described it the right way. It's
- 42:16Speaker 1: like there's a certain level of... how good the music
- 42:20Speaker 1: has aged from that era for the most part here's
- 42:23Speaker 1: some stuff.
- 42:24Speaker 8: You're like yeah for sure what album i just listened
- 42:28Speaker 8: to that i did not think aged the greatest that
- 42:31Speaker 8: i love i love the cool by lupe fiasco but
- 42:34Speaker 8: i listened to.
- 42:34Speaker 1: It recently is one that cool half of it didn't
- 42:38Speaker 1: age as well as i remembered yeah but half of
- 42:41Speaker 1: it's still like i mean the cool is my favorite
- 42:43Speaker 1: lupe album Oh.
- 42:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:45Speaker 1: I like it over food and liquor.
- 42:46Speaker 3: Really?
- 42:46Speaker 7: Well, and also.
- 42:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I like it over food and liquor.
- 42:49Speaker 1: Tetsuo and Youth is good. I mean, he's got some
- 42:52Speaker 1: later shit, like the Samurai shit is crazy. Lupe's an alien.
- 42:56Speaker 3: Atlantic.
- 42:57Speaker 1: Fuck. Fucking....
- 43:00Speaker 7: These labels, bruh.
- 43:01Speaker 1: These fucking labels. Dude, I think back to some of
- 43:04Speaker 1: the casualties of record labels back then. Pill.
- 43:08Speaker 4: Oh, shout out to... That's the homie.
- 43:09Speaker 3: Shout out to Pill. P-I-L-L. Don't mention it.
- 43:11Speaker 1: P-I-L-L.
- 43:13Speaker 3: XV?
- 43:15Speaker 1: XV was crazy. He had that Zero Heroes project.
- 43:20Speaker 3: Charles Hamilton. Charles fucking Hamilton.
- 43:24Speaker 1: Charles Hamilton was one of my favorites, but I'm not
- 43:26Speaker 1: going to lie, it got really hard for me to
- 43:28Speaker 1: keep up with Charles Hamilton when he got into the J.
- 43:30Speaker 3: Taylor beef. When he got beat up by a girl.
- 43:34Speaker 1: It just got to the point where he had so
- 43:36Speaker 1: much music out where I was like, fuck. A lot
- 43:40Speaker 1: of it wasn't good. But that tape he had with
- 43:44Speaker 1: Green Lantern was crazy. With the supersonic on the front.
- 43:48Speaker 3: Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 43:50Speaker 1: That dude was talented. He was low-key my people's champ.
- 43:54Speaker 1: He was kind of like, at that time, I'm like,
- 43:56Speaker 1: you know I'm fucking Charles Hamilton. Then it got to
- 43:57Speaker 1: the point where I'm like, damn, this motherfucker's over here
- 44:01Speaker 1: saying J. Dilla gave him these beats after J. Dilla died.
- 44:03Speaker 1: He was beating Royce.
- 44:04Speaker 3: And I was just like, oh.
- 44:06Speaker 1: But he's a legend man he had he.
- 44:08Speaker 3: Had a run yeah he did i'm.
- 44:11Speaker 1: Trying to think who else from that time just like
- 44:13Speaker 1: damn like what it was close it was there it
- 44:16Speaker 1: was so many guys dude asher roth for real.
- 44:19Speaker 5: Is like yeah he's coming i was dming him he
- 44:23Speaker 5: said he'll be there but i think about like the tapes.
- 44:26Speaker 7: He put out because i think a lot of tapes
- 44:28Speaker 7: i think.
- 44:28Speaker 1: The only album he actually dropped was the Maybe I'm tripping.
- 44:32Speaker 1: I might be ignorant.
- 44:33Speaker 3: The college up?
- 44:34Speaker 1: Sleeping the bread out. But then he had like Paps
- 44:37Speaker 1: and Jazz.
- 44:38Speaker 3: Yeah, Paps and Jazz.
- 44:39Speaker 7: He did one with Green Lantern.
- 44:41Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 44:41Speaker 3: All the mixtapes. Yeah, he had a lot of tapes.
- 44:44Speaker 1: I mean, he's another one of them dudes who was
- 44:46Speaker 1: like right at the beginning. I think he's on the first...
- 44:49Speaker 1: Was he on the first freshman cover? Second.
- 44:52Speaker 3: Second one. It was a weird time.
- 44:53Speaker 5: I would just say it was a weird time because
- 44:56Speaker 5: there was no other option but sign with a label then.
- 44:58Speaker 3: It was just like because in the.
- 45:01Speaker 5: Indie grind wasn't, like, nobody was funding themselves out there.
- 45:07Speaker 1: Like, Wiz Damner was a casualty to the major label
- 45:09Speaker 1: shit because they put out that Say Yeah record and
- 45:11Speaker 1: then they dropped him and then he just was like, bet.
- 45:13Speaker 1: Here's Star Power.
- 45:14Speaker 3: Nipsey too.
- 45:15Speaker 7: Nipsey Jop. Nipsey too. Yeah, Nipsey. J-Rock.
- 45:18Speaker 1: Nah, it's crazy because, like, back then it was like,
- 45:22Speaker 1: you really had to have the intestinal furniture to try
- 45:24Speaker 1: to get, to be so sure of yourself that even if,
- 45:27Speaker 1: Because I feel like that's what Nipsey and those guys did.
- 45:29Speaker 1: Even if you got dropped or you got shelved, motherfuckers
- 45:31Speaker 1: still figured it out.
- 45:32Speaker 3: Yeah, he came back around.
- 45:34Speaker 6: Because he was fucking with Johnny Shipe. Shout out to
- 45:36Speaker 6: Johnny Shipe. Yeah, that was popping in too.
- 45:40Speaker 1: There was a bruh's name from Tampa who was hard.
- 45:42Speaker 1: I forget his name, bro. He used to work with
- 45:44Speaker 1: the Justice League.
- 45:45Speaker 3: Fuck.
- 45:46Speaker 1: He was a blog. He had one album or one
- 45:49Speaker 1: tape I fucked with. Big Crit too.
- 45:51Speaker 3: Shout out Crit.
- 45:52Speaker 1: Crit was that fucking guy.
- 45:54Speaker 3: Tampa.
- 45:54Speaker 1: There was a one, bro, I didn't know he was
- 45:56Speaker 1: from Tampa until I moved to Tampa. And they're like,
- 45:58Speaker 1: you know this guy? I was like, yeah, that dude's
- 46:00Speaker 1: from the blog era. Fuck, what was his name? I forget.
- 46:02Speaker 1: But it was such a great, great time, man. So
- 46:05Speaker 1: the Control Alt Delete show is going to be dope
- 46:07Speaker 1: because it's y'all, cool kids, Big Sean, Dom, you and
- 46:11Speaker 1: I's on it.
- 46:12Speaker 3: Yeah. Overdose.
- 46:14Speaker 1: Overdose, Miguel.
- 46:17Speaker 3: Casey. Casey. Shout out Biggaveli, Max Vee.
- 46:21Speaker 7: Is he still doing it?
- 46:22Speaker 4: I think he might have dropped out.
- 46:23Speaker 3: They took him off? Yeah, he might have dropped out. Ah, shit.
- 46:25Speaker 1: That checks out. He probably had too much Hennessy.
- 46:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Every interview he does, he looks like he is having
- 46:31Speaker 1: the time of his life.
- 46:32Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 46:33Speaker 4: And he scaled it back a little bit. He used
- 46:34Speaker 4: to be more wild than that.
- 46:35Speaker 1: Oh, when he first got out, I was like, ooh,
- 46:39Speaker 1: he's in rare form. By the way, as he should be,
- 46:42Speaker 1: just got out to a whole lot of, him and
- 46:45Speaker 1: French been on a run.
- 46:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:47Speaker 1: Yeah.

- 46:49Speaker 3: Man, B. Young used to have all of the Max
- 46:52Speaker 3: B tapes. We was burning CDs and shit.

- 47:06Speaker 7: Not too far away. We don't got too much info
- 47:09Speaker 7: on it yet, but just know it's another volume.
- 47:12Speaker 1: How far in are you guys into the Starting Five
- 47:14Speaker 1: project with the Cool Kids?
- 47:15Speaker 7: About four or five.
- 47:16Speaker 3: Yeah. I feel like it shouldn't even be super long either.
- 47:22Speaker 7: We can knock that out in a week. Yeah, we
