- 0:56Speaker 1: swaped tonight.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Al So, I was wearing a stocking cap today.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Love it.
- 1:04Speaker 4: I went to the Minnesota Twins game.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Oh.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I was gonna ask you if you'd been to a
- 1:09Speaker 1: game yet.
- 1:10Speaker 4: That was my first one.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Loving it. I mean there hasn't been that many, right.
- 1:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I think what they're seven and six now, so
- 1:17Speaker 4: that thirteen games, yeah, and only about half of those
- 1:22Speaker 4: at home. And so yeah, they had like a noonish game.
- 1:28Speaker 4: I went it was like, I didn't want to wear
- 1:32Speaker 4: my coat, but it was like forty four, so.
- 1:35Speaker 1: You're like, I'm gonna need a little warmth.
- 1:37Speaker 4: For sure, I need some warmth. I wore this hoodie.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Especially get a little wind exactly Chili.
- 1:43Speaker 4: So yeah, like I if I got in the shade
- 1:48Speaker 4: at all, I was real cold. So I just kept
- 1:52Speaker 4: moving around the park where the sun was. Oh that's nice,
- 1:56Speaker 4: which was actually pretty great, and.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Not a ton of people there.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Probably had a ton of people there, so there was
- 2:03Speaker 4: more than I thought there would be.
- 2:06Speaker 1: People played hockey then that's nice.
- 2:08Speaker 4: Yeah, there were a lot of kids there. I was like,
- 2:10Speaker 4: what is going on? Why are you not in school
- 2:13Speaker 4: right now?
- 2:13Speaker 1: But it's like a late spring break or something.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Yeah, and they were actually like baseball teams too, so like,
- 2:20Speaker 4: oh it was interesting. But yeah, it was a really
- 2:24Speaker 4: interesting game. It was one to one up until the
- 2:26Speaker 4: bottom of the eighth. We then scored. Dude, we swept
- 2:29Speaker 4: the Tigers.
- 2:31Speaker 1: That's weird.
- 2:33Speaker 4: It's really weird. But that is why the hair looks
- 2:37Speaker 4: like this. And before that, dude, I did something I've
- 2:41Speaker 4: never done before. Well, I chaperoned a field trip for
- 2:44Speaker 4: my daughter.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Oh I forgot about that.
- 2:48Speaker 4: But I've done that before. It was not I did
- 2:51Speaker 4: that before the game. I went to a place called
- 2:56Speaker 4: Feed My Starving Children, which is a pretty wonderful I
- 3:00Speaker 4: love that place organization. Yeah, and they had us working.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Boy, do you guys do like the packing groceries thing.
- 3:08Speaker 4: Yeah, so they were they were putting rice and like
- 3:13Speaker 4: soy and vitamins and something else into different packages.
- 3:17Speaker 1: That's great.
- 3:18Speaker 4: And I buddied up with another dad and we were
- 3:22Speaker 4: pretty much the guys that were putting the big like
- 3:25Speaker 4: boxes of rice and boxes. We just kept making sure
- 3:32Speaker 4: each group had their rice and it was pretty fun.
- 3:37Speaker 4: That's great.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I love that.
- 3:38Speaker 4: And we like made it so that thirty kids can
- 3:42Speaker 4: can eat for a year in Haiti.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Pretty cool to be able to say that's great. Yeah,
- 3:47Speaker 1: the kids liked it and everything.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Yeah, dude, and it's so much fun, Like it's like
- 3:51Speaker 4: pretty fun.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like I've done that before, and it
- 3:53Speaker 1: was I had never done this is kind of a blast.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 3:57Speaker 4: The kids were loving it because like they kind of
- 3:59Speaker 4: were uh competing with like the other groups and so
- 4:03Speaker 4: then they'd be like we got a whole box and
- 4:05Speaker 4: they'd like be super excited. It was it was a
- 4:09Speaker 4: cool experience. I'm glad Lydia had done it one other
- 4:12Speaker 4: time for a birthday party, which I was like, that
- 4:16Speaker 4: is such a cool idea idea. Yeah, that's cute.
- 4:20Speaker 1: I love that.
- 4:21Speaker 4: Yeah that's cool.
- 4:22Speaker 1: So she at any point mortified based on your existence
- 4:26Speaker 1: in the world.
- 4:27Speaker 4: So I told you that that was something that I
- 4:30Speaker 4: was a little nervous about. So for the people that
- 4:37Speaker 4: watch us, no, it's okay. For the people that can
- 4:40Speaker 4: see our video, I'm going to show you a picture
- 4:43Speaker 4: of how it started. And I was like, over the
- 4:50Speaker 4: beard I had to get the beard net. And I
- 4:52Speaker 4: was like, oh, she's going to be so embarrassed. But
- 4:57Speaker 4: she walked in when and she saw me, she just
- 4:59Speaker 4: started laughing.
- 4:59Speaker 1: So good. You were like, we survived, all right.
- 5:03Speaker 4: But yeah, full on beard net.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I love that you made it work though.
- 5:08Speaker 4: Thank you. So it's been a busy day today. Yeah,
- 5:14Speaker 4: I love it.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Did you go to the game with anyone or did
- 5:16Speaker 1: you just fly a solo?
- 5:17Speaker 4: I flew solo. I was I got done with that
- 5:20Speaker 4: to feed my serving children thing. I was like, what
- 5:22Speaker 4: time is it. Oh, if I leave right now, I'll
- 5:24Speaker 4: hit the beginning of the game. So I was like boom,
- 5:26Speaker 4: let's do this.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Got me a cheap brought tickets to be found.
- 5:30Speaker 4: It wasn't bad. I was like, I'm going to buy
- 5:33Speaker 4: a lower level ticket and I sow the when I
- 5:36Speaker 4: was like twenty five bucks perfect, and I was like yeah.
- 5:40Speaker 4: And then I went into like the seventy dollars seats,
- 5:43Speaker 4: you know, because nobody's there, so that's awesome.
- 5:46Speaker 1: It was called that.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Yeah. I felt like I was gabbin the whole time.
- 5:50Speaker 4: I was your day.
- 5:51Speaker 1: I was good, not that exciting.
- 5:54Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, this is a normal work day for folks.
- 5:56Speaker 1: So I just worked and it was fun. I made
- 6:00Speaker 1: I made it really tasty. I've never made, you know,
- 6:03Speaker 1: chicken salad. I've made chicken salad a number of times
- 6:05Speaker 1: in mine. Of course. I never made ham salad before.
- 6:08Speaker 1: And boy howdy, why have I never made ham salad?
- 6:12Speaker 1: Because I made a delicious ham salad for lunch today.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Put some gerkins in there, yeah in there. Man. It
- 6:21Speaker 1: was tasty.
- 6:22Speaker 4: I really know.
- 6:23Speaker 1: It was good.
- 6:23Speaker 4: That's cool.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Unfortunately the highlight of my day. But you know, here
- 6:27Speaker 1: we are, that's not true. But I think fortunately we've
- 6:33Speaker 1: been joy in the small things is what I put
- 6:36Speaker 1: on every dating profile I have. So yeah, it was
- 6:41Speaker 1: a good day though. I was just hanging out.
- 6:44Speaker 4: But yeah, it was fun, nice to talk about some movies.
- 6:47Speaker 1: I'm sorry I jumped all over you, but I'm so curious, Rob,
- 6:51Speaker 1: have you been watching any.
- 6:52Speaker 4: Films I have? Yes, I watched one of the latest
- 6:56Speaker 4: Day twenty four films. Oh it is called How to
- 7:00Speaker 4: Make a Killing.
- 7:02Speaker 1: That is what I was going to talk about as well. Oh,
- 7:05Speaker 1: look at us, look at us here.
- 7:08Speaker 3: We are that.
- 7:10Speaker 4: So yeah, that one still in the theater. You can
- 7:13Speaker 4: rent it. But it wasn't doing a ton of business
- 7:18Speaker 4: in the theater, and I kind of feel like it
- 7:20Speaker 4: just wasn't like super well publicized. I agree, we got
- 7:25Speaker 4: some we got some stars. We got Glenn Powell, Margaret Qually,
- 7:29Speaker 4: a bunch of fun small roles from like tofer Gray
- 7:33Speaker 4: and Zach Woods and Bill Camp and yes, but yeah,
- 7:42Speaker 4: it's for the folks that haven't seen it. It's about
- 7:44Speaker 4: a guy who's from a wealthy family. Uh, but he
- 7:48Speaker 4: never really knew them. He knows he is set to
- 7:51Speaker 4: inherit a bunch of money when all of his relatives die.
- 7:54Speaker 4: He decides to make that happen faster.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Yes, kind of.
- 7:59Speaker 4: A dark comedy, and the thing that I loved about
- 8:03Speaker 4: it is that I didn't see a lot of stuff coming,
- 8:06Speaker 4: which was really fun.
- 8:08Speaker 1: I agree with that it didn't follow the usual recipe exactly.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I liked that. Yes, I liked it.
- 8:13Speaker 4: It definitely zagged when I was assuming it would zig,
- 8:17Speaker 4: So I really liked it. It wasn't what I expected
- 8:22Speaker 4: at all. And yeah, I mean some people might be
- 8:27Speaker 4: like some of some of it is just a little dark,
- 8:30Speaker 4: you know, and there is some some violence. But I
- 8:34Speaker 4: was into it. I liked it a lot.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I had a really good time watching it. And
- 8:38Speaker 1: at the end, I was like, oh, that's like really
- 8:41Speaker 1: close to a movie I love. But it's just not
- 8:45Speaker 1: like it was one. I enjoyed a great deal. I
- 8:47Speaker 1: had a nice time, but it was like, I don't know,
- 8:51Speaker 1: just something in Alchemy just wasn't quite there for me
- 8:53Speaker 1: for whatever reason that time. But it was it was fun.
- 8:56Speaker 1: If you like a dark comedy, I think you're going
- 8:58Speaker 1: to have a great time.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Yeah. And it's almost kind of thrillery too a bit.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true. That is true.
- 9:04Speaker 4: Spots, Yeah, that is true.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Uh. And you know Glenn pal he just he loves
- 9:09Speaker 1: a costume. You know if he can, he does, if
- 9:12Speaker 1: he can put a costume money in a movie, he's
- 9:14Speaker 1: all about it. Yeah, it's like which is fun. But yeah,
- 9:19Speaker 1: I really liked it. Margaret quality is just she's so great.
- 9:23Speaker 4: That that was a weird role. That was a weird.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Role, but she was fun. It was fun, and.
- 9:27Speaker 4: She she does some weird roles she does Yeah, pretty
- 9:32Speaker 4: quirt quirky.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, I also really enjoyed it. So love that. Yeah,
- 9:39Speaker 1: I love this.
- 9:40Speaker 4: Let's see if this is going to be the same.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, what have you been streaming? Wait, you say it.
- 9:46Speaker 1: I'm going to say it. You say it.
- 9:48Speaker 4: Yeah. This was one that we rented when we were
- 9:50Speaker 4: on our delute spring break, so I doubt that it's
- 9:53Speaker 4: the same. However, we rented the animated movie Goat.
- 9:59Speaker 5: Oh.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I thought about watching this pretty recently, but I haven't
- 10:02Speaker 1: seen it, so tell me.
- 10:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I will tell you. It's about a world where
- 10:07Speaker 4: animals can play basketball, and most of them are really
- 10:11Speaker 4: big animals like bears and drafts and panthers, but an
- 10:16Speaker 4: undersized goat had big dreams and wanted to make it
- 10:19Speaker 4: to the big leagues. The main goat is voiced by
- 10:23Speaker 4: Caleb McLoughlin, who we know from Stranger Things.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 10:28Speaker 4: Steph Curry is a voice Gabrielle Union. We even have
- 10:32Speaker 4: Jelly Roll in there. The kids, the kids really loved it,
- 10:38Speaker 4: which was all I really cared about. I thought it
- 10:40Speaker 4: was okay, it's a fun animation. How they threw it up.
- 10:46Speaker 4: The style, Yeah, it was cool and the basketball scenes
- 10:50Speaker 4: are really fun. It kind of felt, you know, like
- 10:55Speaker 4: it's been done before a bit a bit, but but
- 11:00Speaker 4: it's not bad. And like I said, the kids really
- 11:03Speaker 4: really liked it a.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Lot, so that's all you can ask for. Yeah, the
- 11:06Speaker 1: characters I saw, because I think I saw a trailer
- 11:08Speaker 1: for it once. I was like, oh, these characters look
- 11:10Speaker 1: really neat like, so I could see that being really cool.
- 11:14Speaker 4: It was cool, and yeah, they did some interesting things.
- 11:17Speaker 4: Gabrielle Union plays a panther and so it's like male
- 11:22Speaker 4: and female animals and like the NBA, which is kind
- 11:25Speaker 4: of fun, and so they did some different things like that.
- 11:28Speaker 4: But right now it's only current, it's only available to rent,
- 11:32Speaker 4: but I would imagine that it's going to be streaming soon.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Love it.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Yeah, what if you've been streaming, Ah, well, it's.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Not really a streaming, but you know, here we are,
- 11:43Speaker 1: that's what we are. But also a kids movie, one
- 11:47Speaker 1: that you talked about already.
- 11:48Speaker 4: I saw Hoppers Hoppers that's still in the theater.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I went to the theater and checked it out.
- 11:53Speaker 1: As you know, always a dangerous game as a single person,
- 11:56Speaker 1: but you know, it was fine. Everybody was cool. I
- 12:00Speaker 1: really really enjoyed it. I thought it was just a
- 12:02Speaker 1: ton of fun, so much fun, really hilarious. The story
- 12:08Speaker 1: was like, I don't know, I just I really liked it.
- 12:11Speaker 1: I felt like it was less like it had some
- 12:14Speaker 1: sincerity to it and like the tear jerking and all that,
- 12:16Speaker 1: but less than some other Pixar ones, especially lately for
- 12:21Speaker 1: some reason. Yeah, and just more silly and fun I thought,
- 12:25Speaker 1: which I was really into. I thought it was a
- 12:27Speaker 1: great time. All the people in it were great. I
- 12:31Speaker 1: loved Bobby moynihan, just needs the best. He was melting
- 12:35Speaker 1: my heart.
- 12:35Speaker 5: I loved him so much.
- 12:37Speaker 1: And I didn't know that Piper Ocurda from anything, but
- 12:41Speaker 1: she did a great job. I thought she was awesome.
- 12:43Speaker 1: And I think you talked about like Kathleen and Jimmie's
- 12:46Speaker 1: in it, and she's so funny, and you know, there's
- 12:49Speaker 1: a ton of voices of people you'd recognize in there.
- 12:52Speaker 4: The one that the kids still are quoting was the
- 12:56Speaker 4: shark that was voiced by Vanessa Bayer, not a very
- 13:00Speaker 4: big role at all, but like all the stuff that
- 13:02Speaker 4: she said, the kids are quoting it.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Which she was pretty great when she was like be
- 13:07Speaker 1: professional or whatever she says and all that stuff. Yeah,
- 13:10Speaker 1: it's really really great, a really fun story. And you know,
- 13:13Speaker 1: I mean, like animals talking to each other is not
- 13:17Speaker 1: like a new thing, but it's it's just always fun.
- 13:20Speaker 1: It's very ripe for silliness, which is great. So yeah,
- 13:23Speaker 1: I had a super good time watching it.
- 13:24Speaker 5: I really liked it a lot good.
- 13:26Speaker 4: I'm glad you liked it. I thought that one was
- 13:28Speaker 4: I felt like there was a string of Pixar movies
- 13:30Speaker 4: where I was like, it's just not doing much for me.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. This one I really liked totally.
- 13:36Speaker 1: I did enjoy Ilio. I know you haven't seen that.
- 13:38Speaker 4: One, and I still haven't seen it.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it was fun. It was fun, and that
- 13:42Speaker 1: one's like crazy colorful. This was also fun because it
- 13:46Speaker 1: was on Earth, like it was still beautiful, but not
- 13:49Speaker 1: like fantastical or something. So that was kind of fun.
- 13:52Speaker 4: The last time I'm thinking of is Elemental just didn't
- 13:54Speaker 4: do anything for me.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Yeah, and I liked that, okay, but yeah, I'm with you.
- 13:59Speaker 1: It was just and I'm like, oh, okay, we did it.
- 14:02Speaker 4: Yeah, let's move on.
- 14:03Speaker 1: You know, and not Yeah, I definitely have never seen
- 14:06Speaker 1: it again, which yeah right, so yeah, I hear you,
- 14:11Speaker 1: but very fun. Check out. Do you like hoppers? What
- 14:16Speaker 1: do you think should we do? If you plug runs?

- 15:32Speaker 1: Yeah, Jackets.
- 15:33Speaker 5: That's right.
- 15:35Speaker 1: You guys thought we'd stop coming up with these not.
- 15:37Speaker 4: Yeah, nope, not yet. At least our guests come up
- 15:40Speaker 4: with good things.
- 15:41Speaker 1: That's true. Yeah, yeah, that is true. This will be
- 15:44Speaker 1: a fun one, I think, because there could be a
- 15:46Speaker 1: lot of off the board stuff.
- 15:47Speaker 4: I would guess for sure.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Excited. It'll be fun. Yes, But we are here today
- 15:53Speaker 1: to talk about a film that is celebrating it's what
- 15:56Speaker 1: is it fifteenth anniversary already?
- 15:58Speaker 4: No, twenty eleven.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Twenty eleven is fifteen years ago. Yes, we're here to
- 16:05Speaker 1: talk a little drive with you folks. Boo boo, boo boo.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Another lighthearted comedy for you guys in twenty twenty. Ah,
- 16:16Speaker 1: very excited to talk about this one though, And we
- 16:18Speaker 1: got we got one of our favorite dudes here, a
- 16:21Speaker 1: man who who loves tinkering with a vehicle. H he's
- 16:25Speaker 1: got great jackets, he does. He's uh not. He's not
- 16:30Speaker 1: that quiet though. I guess that's where the similarities man.
- 16:32Speaker 1: But he's very handsome. So stream it up for our
- 16:36Speaker 1: favorite me. Gosh, what's up Neil?
- 16:41Speaker 3: Hey, how's it going?
- 16:42Speaker 1: Guys?
- 16:42Speaker 4: It's good to see you, buddy.

- 17:03Speaker 4: Here Neil looks good, very good.
- 17:06Speaker 3: It's a little surprise surprise for later in the show.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Is a leathery it is? It is?
- 17:13Speaker 3: Indeed, I love it belongs to one or maybe two characters.
- 17:18Speaker 1: That's amazing. Okay, great, well then I won't ask more
- 17:22Speaker 1: about it.
- 17:23Speaker 4: Very underdressed and yeah, good job nice so good.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Other than I click record earlier than I anticipated, you know, jumped.
- 17:32Speaker 3: A little bit, like to keep discussing, and I appreciate
- 17:34Speaker 3: that about you makes things exciting.
- 17:37Speaker 4: It was fine.
- 17:37Speaker 1: I did it on purpose, as we said earlier. Now
- 17:40Speaker 1: I'm sure it wasn't an accident. New on purpose. Yes, guys,
- 17:46Speaker 1: there's the thing we have forgot to tell you, and
- 17:48Speaker 1: it's that after we did Project tail Mary, we were like,
- 17:52Speaker 1: you know, there's actually quite a few movies by one
- 17:56Speaker 1: actor that came out this year, and I think we
- 17:58Speaker 1: should go for it. So we're going gaga for gossling.
- 18:01Speaker 4: Y'all gaga for gossling.
- 18:04Speaker 1: What are we doing for gossling movies?
- 18:06Speaker 4: Yeah, we're doing this one. We're doing La La Land,
- 18:09Speaker 4: We're doing Crazy Stupid Love, We're doing the nice guys.
- 18:13Speaker 4: And we did Project tell Mary. So yeah, I like Neil.
- 18:16Speaker 4: It said, what did you? What did you say?
- 18:17Speaker 1: Again? Neil?
- 18:18Speaker 3: A gaggle of goslings, which I love.
- 18:22Speaker 4: I really it is.
- 18:26Speaker 1: I suck at this. It's a gaggle of gossling films
- 18:29Speaker 1: for all of us to enjoy.
- 18:31Speaker 3: So I'm sure you got hear T shirts with all
- 18:33Speaker 3: of our perspective pun ideas.
- 18:35Speaker 1: You know, I just want us as geese. Now I
- 18:41Speaker 1: want to look like a goose. If someone can draw
- 18:46Speaker 1: a balding goose, I would be very interesting.
- 18:49Speaker 4: Or no, we should be gray ducks. Oh yeah, right right,
- 18:54Speaker 4: you'll get to it right totally. It's a Minnesota thing, Neil.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Are you a grey duck? A grade ackman?
- 18:59Speaker 3: I was.
- 19:00Speaker 1: I was one of the filthy goose.
- 19:03Speaker 3: I played that also here it is. Yeah, it's duck
- 19:06Speaker 3: duck goose out west, it's duck duck.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Great.
- 19:09Speaker 4: I mean, it's everywhere else in the world except Minnesota.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Very confusing to all of my elementary school piers when
- 19:15Speaker 3: I was like, oh, yeah, I know this game, this
- 19:18Speaker 3: game myself by telling you the name of it.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Oh no, I've proven to you I'm an outsider. Crap.
- 19:27Speaker 4: Oh man, Well, let's go back to my place.
- 19:29Speaker 1: I have some hot dish, I mean a cast all
- 19:35Speaker 1: I don't I definitely do not. All right, we're here, yes,
- 19:40Speaker 1: a gaggle of gooselings. Yes, so we look forward to that, Greg,
- 19:47Speaker 1: But we're here today to talk a little drive. Yes,
- 19:50Speaker 1: a wonderful film and should we just get right into it?
- 19:53Speaker 1: Should we have a rob hit us with a rough synopsis?
- 19:56Speaker 4: Yeah, let's do it.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Anops away Buddy, Thank You.
- 20:01Speaker 4: Driver is a skilled Hollywood stuntman who moonlights as a
- 20:05Speaker 4: getaway driver for criminals. Though he projects an icy exterior, lately,
- 20:10Speaker 4: he's been warming up to a pretty neighbor named Irene
- 20:14Speaker 4: and her young son Benicio. When Irene's husband gets out
- 20:18Speaker 4: of jail, he enlists Driver's help in a million dollar heist.
- 20:21Speaker 4: The job goes horribly wrong, and Driver must risk his
- 20:25Speaker 4: life to protect Irene and Benissio from the vengeful masterminds
- 20:31Speaker 4: behind the robbery.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Nice, nice, I liked it. I liked it a lot.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Let's go to round to models in hear what they
- 20:40Speaker 1: have to say. Critics have this coming in at a
- 20:41Speaker 1: pretty rock solid ninety three percent.
- 20:43Speaker 3: I was surprised to see that was that high. I
- 20:45Speaker 3: think it deserves it, but I love surprised to see
- 20:48Speaker 3: that was that high.
- 20:49Speaker 1: It's really great.
- 20:50Speaker 4: I get it from critics. Yeah, I would have been
- 20:53Speaker 4: more surprised with the audience, But what was the audience.
- 20:57Speaker 1: I am surprised a little bit about the audience because
- 20:59Speaker 1: they're down at seven nine percent.
- 21:01Speaker 3: That's lower than I would have thought.
- 21:02Speaker 4: Yeah, it's so violent that it is. That is fair
- 21:07Speaker 4: and it's shockingly violent.
- 21:10Speaker 1: So it's also a bit of a slow burn too, right,
- 21:12Speaker 1: which people don't always love either.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like, yeah, I think the punches of
- 21:17Speaker 3: like those super violent moments like come interspersed between like
- 21:22Speaker 3: a generally slow paced film. So I think it catches
- 21:25Speaker 3: a lot of people off guard. I personally love that
- 21:27Speaker 3: about it, but same, but I can see how that
- 21:29Speaker 3: might turn some people off.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yeah, I agree. Well, let's find out what
- 21:34Speaker 1: we all think. It's time for our hot take.
- 21:38Speaker 4: Hot take.
- 21:40Speaker 1: That's a hot take.
- 21:42Speaker 4: That's a hot take.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Oh ah.
- 21:47Speaker 3: Honestly, like half the reason I like doing these podcasts
- 21:49Speaker 3: is to just hear that section right there, that little
- 21:53Speaker 3: bit I just want to sound.
- 21:55Speaker 1: To be well, we're both pizzeria, they're both very.
- 21:58Speaker 4: Hot, Nino's Pizzeria. They're oh yeah, slice of pizza.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Oh yeah, it's got red pepper flakes. Oh oh oh,
- 22:05Speaker 1: it's play hat. We nailed it. We nailed it. I'm
- 22:09Speaker 1: not cutting a thing from that.
- 22:11Speaker 4: Thank you and smack your mic wire and I don't
- 22:13Speaker 4: do that too. I don't care. I'm really doing pretty
- 22:16Speaker 4: well here.
- 22:19Speaker 1: It's all well boy, how does hell boy? That's great?
- 22:25Speaker 4: Damn it that we really do up our gad you
- 22:29Speaker 4: gotta you gotta come to every episode.
- 22:32Speaker 3: I'll just be a punk consultant on the side. You
- 22:34Speaker 3: just text me and I'll hit you with what you need.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Good Man, you're actually in my phone as that, so
- 22:39Speaker 1: that works out hot as hell boy, well that too,
- 22:42Speaker 1: but I was thinking punk consultant.
- 22:44Speaker 4: Okay, yes, consultant, both.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Work, both work. I will go first. I love this
- 22:53Speaker 1: movie a ton. This movie took me by total surprise
- 22:57Speaker 1: back in twenty eleven when I first saw it in
- 22:59Speaker 1: a theater, I didn't know what to expect. Like we said,
- 23:03Speaker 1: it is, it is absolutely kind of a slowish burn
- 23:06Speaker 1: until it definitely is not and then all hell breaks loss.
- 23:11Speaker 1: But these with these little like punctuation marks of crazy
- 23:15Speaker 1: violence and psychotic actions. But I just think it's a
- 23:20Speaker 1: really great movie. Super fun to see Ryan Gosling in
- 23:24Speaker 1: a part like this. I don't think I had really
- 23:26Speaker 1: seen him do anything like this at that point. Great
- 23:31Speaker 1: soundtrack for this movie, Like the soundtrack itself, is such
- 23:35Speaker 1: a vibe. The car is cool. I'm not really a
- 23:39Speaker 1: car guy, but I still like got into the you know,
- 23:41Speaker 1: him knowing how to drive so well, it was really fun. Yeah,
- 23:48Speaker 1: I don't know I really liked it a lot. The
- 23:50Speaker 1: chemistry between the two lead actors in this I think
- 23:55Speaker 1: is unparalleled, almost between.
- 23:58Speaker 5: Ryan Gosling and Kerry Mulligan.
- 24:00Speaker 1: I don't know, they just like half the movie is
- 24:02Speaker 1: them just like looking longingly at one another, and it's
- 24:06Speaker 1: it works, It works really well. I just I really
- 24:09Speaker 1: love this movie. It went, you know, a bunch of
- 24:12Speaker 1: different ways. I didn't expect it at the time, and
- 24:14Speaker 1: this rewatch we were talking a little bit before, and
- 24:18Speaker 1: I'm with you, Rob, I don't think I had seen
- 24:20Speaker 1: this since I watched.
- 24:21Speaker 5: It that initial time.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Yeah, And what a delight.
- 24:24Speaker 5: To go back and see it.
- 24:25Speaker 1: So I really love it. I think it's really fun.
- 24:29Speaker 1: My hot take, though, is I just just one note
- 24:34Speaker 1: that I have as if you're trying to be inconspicuous
- 24:37Speaker 1: after perhaps participating in some sort of a crime. Maybe
- 24:41Speaker 1: we don't wear an ivory jacket with a giant gold
- 24:43Speaker 1: scorpion on the back. Maybe we aren't as beautiful as
- 24:46Speaker 1: what I got.
- 24:46Speaker 3: You don't wear that jacket.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Well, that's true, that's true. I can't hang. I guess
- 24:53Speaker 1: that's my hottest take.
- 24:54Speaker 4: That's a hot take, bro very hot. Yes, I remember
- 24:59Speaker 4: being blown away by This Moe when it came out
- 25:01Speaker 4: as well. It is directed by Danish director named Nikolas
- 25:06Speaker 4: winding Refin, who he had some critically acclaimed Danish films
- 25:13Speaker 4: and he also did Bronson, which kind of kickstarted Tom
- 25:16Speaker 4: Hardy's career. I still have not seen Bronson, but the
- 25:21Speaker 4: people that have seen it gush, they love it. They
- 25:24Speaker 4: think it's crazy. But Drive seems to be his biggest
- 25:29Speaker 4: film to date. It's written by Hassein Amini, who followed
- 25:34Speaker 4: this up with Snow White and The Huntsman and seems
- 25:36Speaker 4: to have started doing television, so this is kind of
- 25:40Speaker 4: also his biggest thing. Who was nominated for one Oscar
- 25:45Speaker 4: for sound editing. It lost to Scorsese's Hugo. Oh okay,
- 25:52Speaker 4: but yeah, we we just saw Ryan Gosling and Project
- 25:56Speaker 4: Tail Mary and he's just such a goofball in that film.
- 25:59Speaker 4: And then the next thing I watched was this.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a difference, a difference.
- 26:05Speaker 4: It shows like how much range he has. It's really impressive.
- 26:11Speaker 4: It felt like he talked in this film about five times,
- 26:14Speaker 4: but he still completely keeps your attention because he's just
- 26:19Speaker 4: so dynamic on screen. I loved the style of this film,
- 26:23Speaker 4: kind of like what you were saying, Bug's you know,
- 26:26Speaker 4: you got the hot pink credits and the scorpion jacket
- 26:29Speaker 4: and the moody music, like it was just it was cool.
- 26:33Speaker 4: And the cinematography was so incredible. I loved the car
- 26:37Speaker 4: chase scenes, in particular when he's trying to get away
- 26:41Speaker 4: from that car after Oscar Isaac gets shot and we
- 26:46Speaker 4: see the car through the back window in slow motion,
- 26:50Speaker 4: like behind Christina Hendrix, and you just see it like
- 26:54Speaker 4: and it's like in slow motion. It looked so cool.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Cool.
- 26:57Speaker 4: Yeah, but yeah, this movie is so dark. It's incredibly graphic.
- 27:04Speaker 4: I remember being shocked when Christina Hendricks gets her face
- 27:09Speaker 4: blown off, and then you know some of the other
- 27:12Speaker 4: gruesome desks, like that elevator scene where they're like kissing
- 27:15Speaker 4: and then all of a sudden, it's just sprutal stomping
- 27:18Speaker 4: this dude to death and the noises just like it
- 27:23Speaker 4: caught me off guard, and I would imagine that is
- 27:26Speaker 4: why the audience isn't up in the nineties as well.
- 27:30Speaker 1: That's fair.
- 27:31Speaker 4: I enjoyed it, but yeah, very violent, super well made film,
- 27:35Speaker 4: some great actors. Yeah, I was thoroughly entertained. My hot
- 27:41Speaker 4: take this might be the darkest film we've ever done
- 27:44Speaker 4: an episode on really running for sure. We keep it
- 27:52Speaker 4: light here for the most part.
- 27:54Speaker 3: I mean, I guess we did Judas in the Black
- 27:56Speaker 3: and Side, which is also not exactly like a feel
- 27:58Speaker 3: good film.
- 27:59Speaker 4: It's a drama for old men.
- 28:02Speaker 3: Yeah right, yeah, but.
- 28:03Speaker 1: There's like some funny stuff and that a little like it.
- 28:08Speaker 4: You said, a few good men.
- 28:10Speaker 3: No country for old men.
- 28:11Speaker 4: No, no country for old men. Yeah, that's gotta be.
- 28:14Speaker 4: That's their right for sure.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:17Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's in the running as well. Oh, you're
- 28:19Speaker 4: absolutely right. Yeah, yeah, that's a good call. Yeah.
- 28:22Speaker 3: Nice.
- 28:23Speaker 1: I love it, Hot Tikett take Yeah, and I also
- 28:27Speaker 1: love this movie.
- 28:28Speaker 3: I think I saw it in theaters, and I think
- 28:30Speaker 3: I saw it maybe once and one other time before
- 28:32Speaker 3: I this rewatch, but you know it was it hit
- 28:35Speaker 3: just as well. This time around. I was watching my
- 28:37Speaker 3: girlfriend and I had more hurt the hell uh the
- 28:40Speaker 3: elevator scenes. It's like, yeah, just so you know, like
- 28:43Speaker 3: she's not big into like super cory stuff, and I
- 28:45Speaker 3: was like, this is gonna get really violent in a second.
- 28:48Speaker 3: Just just be word.
- 28:50Speaker 1: And it does not feel like it will. I mean,
- 28:52Speaker 1: there is one scene before that, but still.
- 28:55Speaker 3: Like the lead. The immediate lead in of them kissing
- 28:57Speaker 3: is like, you know, such a you just don't take
- 28:59Speaker 3: and then like towards she was like, well that was
- 29:01Speaker 3: almost a sweet moment.
- 29:03Speaker 4: Yeah right, Yeah, it's there's.
- 29:07Speaker 3: So many like filmmaking elements to this that are really solid,
- 29:09Speaker 3: and I think that's that's why it earns it's ninety
- 29:12Speaker 3: three percent. The cinematography, as you mentioned Rob's, is excellent.
- 29:16Speaker 3: I mean the color shading. They used mostly natural lighting
- 29:18Speaker 3: in the outside shots. There's very little inside lighting inside
- 29:22Speaker 3: the cars or extraneously there's a cool factoid that I'll
- 29:26Speaker 3: save for our our later in the pod. But related
- 29:29Speaker 3: to that, there's also just the soundtrack is excellent, and
- 29:35Speaker 3: really that Kavinsky opening song night Call kind of kicked
- 29:39Speaker 3: off like the synth wave revival, So like this was
- 29:42Speaker 3: this was really like the movie that like brought that
- 29:44Speaker 3: vibe back into mainstream media a little bit, and like
- 29:48Speaker 3: there was a whole twenty tens like revival of that
- 29:50Speaker 3: style of music that came largely from this film, So
- 29:54Speaker 3: that was kind of a cool thing. There's so little
- 29:56Speaker 3: dialogue and there's so much just like non verbal act
- 30:00Speaker 3: that happens in this and the way that those scenes
- 30:02Speaker 3: are allowed to breathe and they have so much tension
- 30:05Speaker 3: but they don't rush through any of those moments is
- 30:07Speaker 3: so good. And we'll talk about it, I think when
- 30:09Speaker 3: we get into the best scenes, but there's a couple
- 30:12Speaker 3: that stand out to me where like that's really apparent
- 30:14Speaker 3: where there's so little said, but there's so much conveyed
- 30:17Speaker 3: just from like the looks and the body language. And
- 30:20Speaker 3: that's something that Ryan Gosling, I think honestly, is very
- 30:22Speaker 3: good at in all of his films, Like we see
- 30:23Speaker 3: it in Project tail Mary too, like the looks off
- 30:26Speaker 3: to camera or just like facial ticks of like him
- 30:29Speaker 3: processing something internally. He's able to convey a lot without
- 30:32Speaker 3: depending on dialogue to do it, and I think that
- 30:35Speaker 3: it shines in this movie when you know he's working
- 30:37Speaker 3: across from Kerry mulgan, who's also very good at you know,
- 30:40Speaker 3: just the chemistry between them and the unsaid stuff. So yeah,
- 30:45Speaker 3: I love this movie.
- 30:46Speaker 1: It's great.
- 30:47Speaker 3: It was such a vibe to watch it. I love
- 30:49Speaker 3: the whole Miami Vice like scripts of the all the
- 30:54Speaker 3: color ways, the use of those kind of like eighties
- 30:57Speaker 3: neons and pastels to the like give this a very
- 31:02Speaker 3: timeless sense. Even though it came out, you know, in
- 31:04Speaker 3: twenty ten, twenty eleven, whenever it came out, it still
- 31:07Speaker 3: feels like a movie that would fit in just as
- 31:09Speaker 3: well if I had come out in like nineteen eighty five.
- 31:12Speaker 3: And I think that's pretty cool. They did a good
- 31:14Speaker 3: job of like capturing this. They didn't use particularly modern
- 31:17Speaker 3: cars either, I mean, all the like things that would
- 31:20Speaker 3: place it in a certain time period. They kept to
- 31:23Speaker 3: things that feel a little more timeless. So yeah, oh
- 31:27Speaker 3: love it. That's a good time.
- 31:29Speaker 4: I love it hot, super tat love that.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Let's let's move ahead and let's talk about our papernacting performance.
- 31:38Speaker 4: Shall we name the dude the dude?
- 31:42Speaker 1: I'm the dude, So that's what you call me, you
- 31:45Speaker 1: know that? Or his dudeen or duder or you know,
- 31:50Speaker 1: el dud a reno if you're not into the whole
- 31:52Speaker 1: brevity thing.
- 31:53Speaker 3: I mean, does anybody have have a not obvious take
- 31:58Speaker 3: on this one? Yeah?
- 32:00Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 32:01Speaker 4: I rarely do, but you can say yours first.
- 32:05Speaker 3: It's got to be the scorpion Jacket himself, you know,
- 32:08Speaker 3: I mean, he's is the predominant presence in all of
- 32:12Speaker 3: this movie. He absolutely kills it. He plays his characters
- 32:15Speaker 3: super well. I think something else that stands out about
- 32:17Speaker 3: Ryan Goslings an actor is that he chooses his roles
- 32:20Speaker 3: really well. I think he's really good at picking roles
- 32:23Speaker 3: that he knows he can immerse himself into and like
- 32:26Speaker 3: really embody and that's he picks roles that have a
- 32:29Speaker 3: lot of different range. But he does pick roles that
- 32:31Speaker 3: like he feels like he fits very naturally into, and
- 32:34Speaker 3: it doesn't feel like he takes a lot of like
- 32:36Speaker 3: pay the Bills movies. He tends to get into things
- 32:39Speaker 3: that he can like sink his heat into. So I
- 32:41Speaker 3: thought he even though he's like so charming as a
- 32:45Speaker 3: person and we see him in so many like lighthearted
- 32:47Speaker 3: things he can in this film, we see him convey
- 32:50Speaker 3: such a sense of just like like danger, Like he
- 32:55Speaker 3: seems like a very serious guy that like you don't
- 32:57Speaker 3: want to mess with, and it is convinced it's not like,
- 33:01Speaker 3: you know, we're not picturing remember the Titans. When he's
- 33:04Speaker 3: like saying these things, when somebody here, like it feels real, right,
- 33:09Speaker 3: So I think that, yeah, I think it's got to
- 33:11Speaker 3: be him.
- 33:13Speaker 4: Oh yeah, without a doubt, and a lot that you
- 33:17Speaker 4: were saying, just how much he's able to convey without
- 33:20Speaker 4: any of that dialogue. I mean, he says almost nothing
- 33:23Speaker 4: in this movie and you can totally feel what he's
- 33:27Speaker 4: feeling just with his different expressions.
- 33:32Speaker 1: He's so cool.
- 33:34Speaker 4: In this and just like cool, calm and collected that
- 33:38Speaker 4: when he does freak out, you're like, whoa, this is
- 33:40Speaker 4: like a big deal now. Yeah, And I loved you know,
- 33:46Speaker 4: every time he's with Carrie Mulligan he's kind of like smiling.
- 33:49Speaker 4: It's the only time that he's like approachable, and yeah,
- 33:55Speaker 4: I just thought he was incredible.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Love that. Yeah, it's a clean sweep. Agreed. Yeah, The
- 34:03Speaker 1: part that really got me on this this last watch
- 34:06Speaker 1: was like kind of what you talked about, Like there
- 34:09Speaker 1: is this like under the surface, there is this rage
- 34:13Speaker 1: to this character and we don't know anything about his
- 34:16Speaker 1: background at all, so which is kind of fun to to,
- 34:19Speaker 1: you know, just be like what happened that got him here?
- 34:22Speaker 1: But the fact that he makes like they're not even threats,
- 34:27Speaker 1: but when he is like confronting someone and he doesn't
- 34:31Speaker 1: have to put on any bravado or anything and like
- 34:34Speaker 1: doesn't have to say much, is just makes him that
- 34:36Speaker 1: much scarier, I feel like, or just intimidating in general,
- 34:41Speaker 1: kind of like a I don't know, he like his
- 34:43Speaker 1: character felt kind of like a shark in this movie
- 34:45Speaker 1: to me a little bit, like like the shark doesn't
- 34:48Speaker 1: have to like make you worried that it's gonna get you.
- 34:51Speaker 1: If it wants to come get you, it'll get you, know,
- 34:53Speaker 1: like it's gonna happen, right.
- 34:55Speaker 4: Or like a scorpion or a scorpion.
- 34:57Speaker 5: That would have been a better, better illusion.
- 35:00Speaker 3: For sure, the references to these animals in this movie.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Yep, for sure. But yeah, I just I think he's
- 35:07Speaker 1: great in this and to see that, like, you know,
- 35:11Speaker 1: he is so calm through most of the movie, but
- 35:13Speaker 1: it's like, oh, maybe he's working really hard to be
- 35:16Speaker 1: that calm, you know, because when it comes out, it's
- 35:19Speaker 1: like it's really intense.
- 35:22Speaker 5: But yeah, I just thought he was so good.
- 35:24Speaker 1: In this and and also like lovable when he's with
- 35:28Speaker 1: Benicio and yeah.
- 35:30Speaker 4: Yeah the kid, Yeah, like he's such a cute.
- 35:33Speaker 1: He gets a couple, like a cop, just one or
- 35:35Speaker 1: two little moments where he gets to be a little
- 35:37Speaker 1: silly and it's like, oh, okay, great, but it just
- 35:40Speaker 1: adds that much more depth, and he just seems so
- 35:43Speaker 1: in control of, you know, uncontrollable moments, which is really fun.
- 35:48Speaker 5: So yeah, I loved him.
- 35:49Speaker 1: He's my dude for sure.
- 35:51Speaker 4: Nice. Well, there were some some pretty fun supporting characters
- 35:55Speaker 4: in this. Why don't we pick the tucciable?
- 36:00Speaker 3: Yeah, you think that I was ever going to get
- 36:01Speaker 3: renamed or No, Stanley Tucci is etched permanently.
- 36:06Speaker 4: I mean it has for the last six years, and
- 36:09Speaker 4: it's when Tucci starts becoming a leading man consistently then
- 36:13Speaker 4: maybe we'll switch it.
- 36:14Speaker 1: But it makes sense for his sake.
- 36:16Speaker 3: Maybe it would be sort of an honorary promotion or
- 36:19Speaker 3: something like that.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Yeah, you'd move him up to the dude, and then
- 36:25Speaker 1: the dude would have to make the hot tache or something.
- 36:29Speaker 1: There's a lot of paperwork involved. Yeah, so I'm glad
- 36:31Speaker 1: I started talking about this. It's good who.
- 36:37Speaker 3: Jeff for your You know, I actually as obvious as
- 36:42Speaker 3: the dude felt, this one felt very not obvious to me.
- 36:44Speaker 3: I mean, I guess there's like one that's one like
- 36:46Speaker 3: probably more obvious choice in Carrie Mulligan, But I think that,
- 36:51Speaker 3: Oh was that not even interesting?
- 36:53Speaker 1: Okay?
- 36:55Speaker 3: I actually wrote down too. I had Oscar Isaac depite
- 37:00Speaker 3: his relatively short presence in the film, his scenes were fantastic.
- 37:04Speaker 4: And that guy's incredible.
- 37:07Speaker 3: Yeah, honestly, this is like at least a huge cast.
- 37:10Speaker 3: I didn't really remember like half the people. Yeah, there's
- 37:17Speaker 3: like a couple of scenes that he has where it's
- 37:19Speaker 3: the same thing. There's just so much conveyed in so
- 37:23Speaker 3: few lines of dialogue, and he plays it perfectly. Like
- 37:27Speaker 3: despite the fact that his character is in jail or
- 37:29Speaker 3: getting released from jail or whatever, Like we kind of
- 37:32Speaker 3: understand that he has some sort of checkered history that
- 37:35Speaker 3: landed him in jail, but he doesn't like really come
- 37:37Speaker 3: across as like a maliciously bad guy. Like it's pretty
- 37:41Speaker 3: in earnest that he wants to do better for his
- 37:44Speaker 3: kid and his family, and like that does come through,
- 37:47Speaker 3: So we're not like clearly rooting against him as a viewer.
- 37:50Speaker 3: And that's a really interesting line to have to toe,
- 37:53Speaker 3: where like you're not trying to make your character the
- 37:56Speaker 3: antagonist because there are other bigger antagonists in the story,
- 37:59Speaker 3: but you're not really a good guy, but also the
- 38:01Speaker 3: protagonist is not really a good guy, So like, you know,
- 38:04Speaker 3: it's a lot of like moral gray area to kind
- 38:07Speaker 3: of walk through, and I think that he does it
- 38:09Speaker 3: really really well, in particular the scene outside of the
- 38:14Speaker 3: party when he comes out to take the trash out
- 38:17Speaker 3: and it's the first time that he meets Ryan Gosling's
- 38:19Speaker 3: character and they're talking and like the lines, you know,
- 38:22Speaker 3: he says something about like you've been you know, coming around,
- 38:25Speaker 3: you've been helping out, You've been helping out, and it's
- 38:27Speaker 3: like the words alone are not conveying what he's trying
- 38:31Speaker 3: to imply, but like the tone of it is so
- 38:33Speaker 3: obvious that he's like kind of angry, slash jealous slash skeptical,
- 38:38Speaker 3: like suspicious of this dude, like trying to get a
- 38:41Speaker 3: little bit more information, feel out like what this is
- 38:44Speaker 3: all about. And all of that comes through in like
- 38:46Speaker 3: fifteen words in a very short scene. So I had
- 38:50Speaker 3: him as one of mine. The other one I picked
- 38:52Speaker 3: was Albert Brooks, who I thought was stellar, and he
- 38:56Speaker 3: he comes across so like almost jovial in the first
- 38:59Speaker 3: half of the movie, where it seems like he's kind
- 39:01Speaker 3: of like the friendly one, and you know, Nino is
- 39:04Speaker 3: like the the enforcer, and by the end of the movie,
- 39:06Speaker 3: like he is brutal, and he's like he's almost like
- 39:09Speaker 3: the more scary one because he's so measured in how
- 39:12Speaker 3: he just like decides to enact violence on people when
- 39:16Speaker 3: he does, but it's not like a fly off the
- 39:19Speaker 3: handle yell at anybody. It's just like quietly slits his throat,
- 39:23Speaker 3: you know, quietly like slits his arms and just like
- 39:26Speaker 3: puts him on the ground. Like that kind of thing.
- 39:28Speaker 3: Is just it's a much more sort of classic gangster
- 39:32Speaker 3: kind of vibe. It's not like a you know, rough
- 39:35Speaker 3: and tumble. So I thought they were both really great.
- 39:37Speaker 3: I could easily be convinced towards either one of them
- 39:39Speaker 3: as my picks.
- 39:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:42Speaker 4: Man, I was completely blown away by Albert Brooks in
- 39:47Speaker 4: this the first time I saw. I mean, you just
- 39:49Speaker 4: have never seen him do anything even close to this.
- 39:54Speaker 4: He's usually pretty funny, usually just kind of complaining about
- 39:59Speaker 4: things and it's it's usually humorous. Yeah, but he was
- 40:03Speaker 4: terrifying in this. And for all those reasons that you said,
- 40:09Speaker 4: he had like shaved his eyebrows off, which.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Was really weird.
- 40:11Speaker 4: Yeah, that was a scary look, it was, it was different,
- 40:16Speaker 4: but he just seemed so in it. Yeah, And yeah,
- 40:20Speaker 4: I was I was terrified by him. I loved his performance.
- 40:24Speaker 4: That was one that I chose for sure, love that.
- 40:28Speaker 4: I think I would have picked Albert Brooks probably first.
- 40:32Speaker 1: It was tough between him and Kerry Mulligan, although I
- 40:35Speaker 1: do agree like Karen Mugan didn't get a ton to
- 40:38Speaker 1: do in this movie. She was great, but you know,
- 40:41Speaker 1: not a lot of lines, not like a ton of
- 40:44Speaker 1: stuff happens around her more than you.
- 40:47Speaker 5: Know, like she has necessarily agency.
- 40:49Speaker 1: But I did love her in this I thought she
- 40:51Speaker 1: was great.
- 40:51Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure.
- 40:53Speaker 1: I'll throw a runner up though to Brian Cranston as well.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Of course, always I thought he was great. He was
- 41:01Speaker 1: like the closest we got to, like a lighthearted, like
- 41:04Speaker 1: just kind of talking, you know, a guy that's got
- 41:07Speaker 1: a sordid past, he still hangs out and talks to
- 41:11Speaker 1: the people who it sure seems to be implied that
- 41:14Speaker 1: you know, broke his leg to the point where he
- 41:17Speaker 1: still has a limp all these years later.
- 41:19Speaker 4: Oh no, he's set straight up said that that was
- 41:22Speaker 4: Nino who did it?
- 41:23Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, But I didn't know if it
- 41:25Speaker 1: was Nino via the family or you know, like if
- 41:28Speaker 1: if he owed them the money.
- 41:30Speaker 5: I didn't and maybe that doesn't even matter, like who knows, But.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I just thought he was great and a really
- 41:36Speaker 1: fun opposite to Gosling.
- 41:39Speaker 5: Right the like quiet, you know, regular dude or whatever.
- 41:45Speaker 4: And he was it was cool that he just completely
- 41:48Speaker 4: had his back and like was really supporting him and
- 41:55Speaker 4: and just yeah, like you said, so different, just kind
- 41:57Speaker 4: of like motormouth.
- 41:58Speaker 1: Just goofy.
- 41:59Speaker 4: And I love that he tried to like set him
- 42:02Speaker 4: up with Carrie mull again, you know, like I could
- 42:05Speaker 4: just yeah, we can drive you back. But you know
- 42:08Speaker 4: it was it was sweet.
- 42:12Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, Yeah that's pretty great. But I loved him.
- 42:17Speaker 4: Uh.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Christina Hendricks was not in it very long, but.
- 42:21Speaker 4: She forgot she was in it, so until we watched this.
- 42:25Speaker 1: Uh what a part though, and also what an end
- 42:29Speaker 1: to her part?
- 42:30Speaker 3: Right, sound editing.
- 42:32Speaker 1: I kind of forgot that happened, honestly, or at least the.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Dead silence before that shotgun shot through the window.
- 42:39Speaker 1: Yeah, burrutal, brutal, but uh, yeah they were the only ones. Well,
- 42:46Speaker 1: Oscar and then Ron Pearlman as yeah, of course, yes,
- 42:51Speaker 1: which I also didn't remember he was in there. Yeah,
- 42:54Speaker 1: I didn't remember he was saying it either. Yeah, yeah,
- 42:57Speaker 1: he was such a he.
- 42:58Speaker 3: Anyway, it felt a very natural role for him to take.
- 43:01Speaker 3: I guess maybe just because of Son's of anarchy and
- 43:03Speaker 3: all that kind of stuff. He's played this kind of
- 43:04Speaker 3: role before. But it didn't feel like he was having
- 43:08Speaker 3: to stretch too far for that role, I think, which
- 43:12Speaker 3: is why I really that's I didn't really try it
- 43:14Speaker 3: for that reason. It just felt like this this was
- 43:16Speaker 3: more like a run of the mill, like you know,
- 43:20Speaker 3: I found.
- 43:21Speaker 1: It interesting because he he was like he apparently approached
- 43:25Speaker 1: them and was like, I really want to play this part.
- 43:27Speaker 1: It's a guy who you know, like wants to be
- 43:30Speaker 1: a gangster, but he's you know, Jewish and from New
- 43:35Speaker 1: Jersey or whatever. And apparently that he's from New Jersey
- 43:38Speaker 1: and you know, is a Jewish guy that kind of
- 43:40Speaker 1: wanted to be a gangster when he was a kid
- 43:41Speaker 1: and stuff. He said, interesting. I thought that was kind
- 43:44Speaker 1: of cool. So yeah, very real to life for him.
- 43:46Speaker 3: I wonder if there was like more there that they
- 43:49Speaker 3: that ended up on the cutting room floor of his
- 43:51Speaker 3: like character backstory and stuff, because there's like a lot
- 43:54Speaker 3: that's like alluded to, you know, like, yeah, he sort
- 43:57Speaker 3: of starts to like bring in these strings to like
- 43:59Speaker 3: a bigger picture what's going on with that side of
- 44:01Speaker 3: the story. But none of that stuff flashes out too
- 44:04Speaker 3: much as far as like you know, new up and
- 44:07Speaker 3: comer gangster in Philadelphia, that's like trying to set up
- 44:09Speaker 3: shop out here and all that stuff. The motivations for
- 44:12Speaker 3: like why the heist happened at all? Like that kind right,
- 44:15Speaker 3: They don't like get too deep into it, which is fine.
- 44:17Speaker 3: I think it's that that's not really the story. But
- 44:20Speaker 3: maybe maybe he had some you know, he wanted to
- 44:23Speaker 3: have more more to do there and sure just didn't
- 44:26Speaker 3: end up having time for it.
- 44:29Speaker 1: Yeah, might have been, Yeah, for sure. I just looked
- 44:32Speaker 1: up the budget too. This is a pretty wild, right
- 44:35Speaker 1: budget film. Yeah it was fifteen million, that's what they figure.
- 44:39Speaker 3: Isn't that crazy?
- 44:41Speaker 1: Yeah, pretty wild for a lot of like stunts and yeah, yeah,
- 44:45Speaker 1: driving stuff and all that.
- 44:47Speaker 4: But I don't even think you can get Ryan Gosling
- 44:49Speaker 4: for that anymore.
- 44:50Speaker 3: Okid, I think you get like any of these actors
- 44:53Speaker 3: for that anymore.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Well that's true too, Yeah, Yeah, that's that's a great
- 44:56Speaker 1: point for sure. Well great, any other runners up? Or
- 45:03Speaker 1: should we go ahead go to our favorite scene? Yeah,
- 45:06Speaker 1: let's pick the dingas the Dingus so is quite simple,
- 45:11Speaker 1: really Ingus Dingus.
- 45:13Speaker 3: I can talk about my dingus all night long. Am
- 45:16Speaker 3: I going first? Okay? I wrote down several because I
- 45:19Speaker 3: can never pick just one, you know, there's too many
- 45:21Speaker 3: good moments. Sorry, I had in no particular order. The
- 45:25Speaker 3: opening heist sequence is just so good. It's such a
- 45:30Speaker 3: cold open. So it's such a good cold open for
- 45:33Speaker 3: a movie where it very clearly sets like the ambiance,
- 45:37Speaker 3: the whole vibe of the main character. You see like
- 45:40Speaker 3: just his ice cold nature of like not you know,
- 45:45Speaker 3: like no stress, cool under pressure. The cars, like the
- 45:49Speaker 3: police cars chasing him, stopped at the red light, like
- 45:51Speaker 3: all those moments were so good. He gets his opening monologue,
- 45:55Speaker 3: which I have in my quotes as well, but it's
- 45:56Speaker 3: so good that he says a couple of times and
- 46:00Speaker 3: then yeah, it's just a great opening. Its sets the
- 46:02Speaker 3: tone of the movie perfectly. And then you have like
- 46:05Speaker 3: the you know, Covinsky song going over the top, and
- 46:07Speaker 3: you have the whole like visuals of it all. I
- 46:10Speaker 3: love the opening scene of this such a strike absolutely.
- 46:13Speaker 4: I loved that he is like paying attention to the
- 46:17Speaker 4: basketball game. We're just like, dude, this guy is so cool.
- 46:20Speaker 4: He's just like listening to the basketball game and how
- 46:24Speaker 4: that all ends up happening.
- 46:28Speaker 3: It keeps like turning it up and you're just like
- 46:30Speaker 3: it's not even paying attention to what's going on. And
- 46:32Speaker 3: then it's like that was but.
- 46:33Speaker 4: It's like that's I loved.
- 46:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:37Speaker 1: I do that first scene too, Like that could just
- 46:41Speaker 1: be a short film by itself and it'd be you know,
- 46:44Speaker 1: which is so fun. Totally love that, and I didn't
- 46:46Speaker 1: think of till today. I was like, Oh, we could
- 46:48Speaker 1: have done best cold opening scene. Have we done that before?
- 46:54Speaker 4: Before we did it? I think we did it for
- 46:57Speaker 4: Dark Knight Rises.
- 46:57Speaker 1: I bet we picked Drive then.
- 46:59Speaker 4: Yeah, they probably also. I also just loved Yeah, that's true.
- 47:04Speaker 4: I also loved you could hear the cops talking, so
- 47:09Speaker 4: we got to hear everything, and then he would you know,
- 47:12Speaker 4: like he would be able to hear that the helicopter
- 47:15Speaker 4: has to go off somewhere else and just all that
- 47:18Speaker 4: Just that's so intense, dude. I loved it.
- 47:21Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a really great scene. So I had that
- 47:24Speaker 3: one I had. We kind of talked about it a
- 47:26Speaker 3: little bit, but the scene where he basically meets I
- 47:31Speaker 3: mean he meets Iren before this, but when he brings
- 47:34Speaker 3: the groceries back with them, and the first time he
- 47:36Speaker 3: goes into her apartment and they like have their kind
- 47:38Speaker 3: of dialogue, yeah, which is also like, you know, one
- 47:41Speaker 3: of the few times he says more than two sentences.
- 47:45Speaker 3: There's a there's a lot to unpack in that scene,
- 47:47Speaker 3: because a lot happens a in a short amount of
- 47:50Speaker 3: time without a lot of dialogue. He's meeting the kid
- 47:53Speaker 3: for the first time. He's like interacting with her for
- 47:56Speaker 3: the first time. We're getting standards Backstorre as well from Irene.
- 48:02Speaker 3: We're seeing inside of her apartment for the first time,
- 48:04Speaker 3: and like their chemistry as well as like his dynamic
- 48:06Speaker 3: with Benicio. There's a shot in that that's it's where
- 48:11Speaker 3: she's talking and the mirror is to her left, and
- 48:14Speaker 3: you see his reflection in the mirror, and then in
- 48:16Speaker 3: the mirror, like tucked in the mirror is the picture
- 48:18Speaker 3: of Benicio and Standard at the bottom of the mirror.
- 48:20Speaker 3: And that shot is so good because his personality, his
- 48:25Speaker 3: whole persona above in the mirror is shadowed. You can't
- 48:28Speaker 3: see his face, you can barely see his body, so
- 48:30Speaker 3: he's like this dark figure in the mirror next to her.
- 48:34Speaker 3: It's in parallel with her, so there's equal weight given
- 48:37Speaker 3: to both of them in that shot. And then in
- 48:40Speaker 3: the subset of the mirror you have the small photograph
- 48:43Speaker 3: of Standard and Benicio, and in that picture we find
- 48:47Speaker 3: out that Standard is in jail, but we also see
- 48:49Speaker 3: this picture of him as like a well lit, smiling,
- 48:52Speaker 3: like jovial guy, right, So it's like the subset of
- 48:56Speaker 3: a husband that you're finding out is in prison, but
- 48:58Speaker 3: he actually looks like the Knight character. And then you
- 49:01Speaker 3: have the reflection of Ryan Gosling's character that's almost entirely
- 49:04Speaker 3: in shadow. We know nothing about him, we know nothing
- 49:06Speaker 3: about his backstory, and he's giving like super short vague answers.
- 49:10Speaker 3: So it's like this visual representation of like which of
- 49:13Speaker 3: them is kind of the good guy the light side
- 49:15Speaker 3: character here, When like we had this contrast visually of
- 49:19Speaker 3: like their two characters in the same frame as Irene talking,
- 49:23Speaker 3: it's a great shot, so I put that one on
- 49:26Speaker 3: there as well.
- 49:28Speaker 4: Cool.
- 49:28Speaker 3: And then the hallway scene which I mentioned earlier, where
- 49:32Speaker 3: Oscar Isaac is talking to him, I think that one
- 49:35Speaker 3: there they're back and forth. There is just it's so
- 49:37Speaker 3: tense and it's so good. And then I did have
- 49:40Speaker 3: the I did have the brutal elevator scene, because like
- 49:42Speaker 3: that's the one that just really sticks with you, bro, I.
- 49:45Speaker 4: Mean that's yeah, that's an iconic scene though, Like I
- 49:49Speaker 4: can't not think.
- 49:50Speaker 3: I think it's like when the camera cuts away from
- 49:52Speaker 3: him and you just hear the sound of his boot
- 49:54Speaker 3: like stomping over and over and over, and then they
- 49:56Speaker 3: cut back and you just see it like in the
- 49:58Speaker 3: guy's face for like a brief second.
- 50:01Speaker 1: It is.
- 50:02Speaker 3: Yeah, it's gruesome, and it's it does kind of come
- 50:05Speaker 3: out of nowhere. That's the most violent you see him
- 50:07Speaker 3: in the entire film.
- 50:09Speaker 4: So yeah, well, and just the it makes it more
- 50:13Speaker 4: shocking because we get this slow motion, we change the
- 50:17Speaker 4: lighting and they have this really intimate kiss and he's
- 50:22Speaker 4: just like wow, and then just to go to that
- 50:24Speaker 4: it was just so jarred. Yeah, it was really shocking.
- 50:30Speaker 4: But I definitely think of that scene when I think
- 50:32Speaker 4: of this.
- 50:33Speaker 1: Movie for sure.
- 50:33Speaker 3: Yeah, it seems to be the one that I think
- 50:36Speaker 3: just like sticks in your brain the most. Maybe the
- 50:38Speaker 3: Christina having Stine and through the window, but this one,
- 50:41Speaker 3: the elevator is just like it's so visceral, and it's
- 50:44Speaker 3: just like he's not shooting somebody, you know what I mean,
- 50:47Speaker 3: Like it's he's kicking someone's face, and it just happens
- 50:50Speaker 3: for such a long time, for so long, so long.
- 50:55Speaker 3: So those before that.
- 50:56Speaker 4: I had mentioned, Yeah, so I had. I definitely put
- 51:00Speaker 4: the elevator scene. I definitely put the opening getaway scene
- 51:04Speaker 4: as well.
- 51:04Speaker 1: I loved that. Yep.
- 51:07Speaker 4: I also wrote down Albert Brooks and Ryan Gosling at
- 51:11Speaker 4: the diner.
- 51:11Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that was great.
- 51:14Speaker 4: We had some really great lines from Albert Brooks in
- 51:17Speaker 4: that it's very tense. So it was mostly just because
- 51:22Speaker 4: of the acting there that I really liked, and also
- 51:26Speaker 4: just the Oscar Isaac getting getting shot in that getaway
- 51:29Speaker 4: scene as well, just the cinematography in that. Like I
- 51:32Speaker 4: had said in my hot take, I really really loved
- 51:36Speaker 4: all of that.
- 51:37Speaker 3: Yeah, that chase sequence is great.
- 51:40Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, and that car driving up like right beforehand,
- 51:43Speaker 1: and he's obviously like skeptical, beautiful whole time.
- 51:48Speaker 5: Yeah, right, I did like.
- 51:51Speaker 1: That, and and then the follow on scene of him
- 51:54Speaker 1: and Christina Hendrix in the hotel where he's like, you're
- 51:58Speaker 1: gonna tell me the truth, you know, and just like
- 52:01Speaker 1: this dude is crazy, he's lost it.
- 52:03Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a super intense scene too. I think the
- 52:06Speaker 3: gloves being on like really adds. So he like slowly
- 52:08Speaker 3: puts the claws on and locks the door, and he's like,
- 52:10Speaker 3: oh man, oh yeah.
- 52:16Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the elevator scene for me for sure. This
- 52:20Speaker 1: rewatch too. I felt like I don't think I and
- 52:23Speaker 1: maybe this isn't even right. But what I took from
- 52:25Speaker 1: it this time was like he has just talked to
- 52:29Speaker 1: her and been like maybe we could and obviously that's
- 52:32Speaker 1: not going to happen at least in this moment, you know,
- 52:36Speaker 1: like we could run away together or whatever.
- 52:38Speaker 5: All this went so poorly whatever.
- 52:41Speaker 1: But I took him like giving her that kiss as
- 52:45Speaker 1: him being like, well, this is the last chance I
- 52:48Speaker 1: have to do this, because I'm about to do something
- 52:50Speaker 1: that obviously I'm not going to come back from and
- 52:53Speaker 1: she's going to see who I really am kind of deal.
- 52:55Speaker 1: And that really struck me this time. And then it's
- 52:58Speaker 1: obviously just brutal well you know and all that, but
- 53:02Speaker 1: but it was just like oh yeah, and then his
- 53:04Speaker 1: face as he's like shaking and sweating and turns around
- 53:07Speaker 1: and looks at her. It's just like get out of
- 53:10Speaker 1: their myths.
- 53:11Speaker 3: Yeah, and she is just like horrified standing outside of
- 53:14Speaker 3: the door.
- 53:14Speaker 1: Yeah, as well she should be. I mean that would
- 53:17Speaker 1: be that's intense. That's intense. But yeah, I had the
- 53:22Speaker 1: opening scene in the elevator scene for sure. On there.
- 53:25Speaker 1: I think we should just do a dual Dingis and
- 53:29Speaker 1: just roll with them.
- 53:30Speaker 3: In some such different ways. Doesn't feel wrong to compare
- 53:35Speaker 3: them between the two.
- 53:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I would like just on a quick runner up
- 53:40Speaker 1: for me. Albert Brooks killing Kranston with the slice down
- 53:46Speaker 1: the arm that we mentioned earlier, it's over, it's done. Yeah.
- 53:49Speaker 1: That that's what got me is when he was like
- 53:52Speaker 1: it's easy, it's done, don't worry about it, you know,
- 53:55Speaker 1: like like semi kindness in that moment.
- 54:00Speaker 5: Really struck me. And it's so like like, oh, this
- 54:03Speaker 5: guy's a psycho too, Okay.
- 54:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it was. I think that was kind
- 54:06Speaker 3: of the idea, like he he didn't want to have
- 54:09Speaker 3: to kill Sandy like that was kind of a friend
- 54:12Speaker 3: of his. And in comparison, when he kills Cook and
- 54:15Speaker 3: it's like much more aggressive and brutal. Yeah, Like this
- 54:19Speaker 3: was just like a surgical slice down the arm. Like
- 54:22Speaker 3: it's over, there's no pain, like it's it's fun. You know.
- 54:26Speaker 4: Yeah, it felt like he was doing that because like
- 54:29Speaker 4: he was so brutal with Cook because he knew he
- 54:31Speaker 4: was gonna then have to do that.
- 54:33Speaker 1: Yeah. I think so he was making out right what
- 54:36Speaker 1: he had to do. Yeah, it's like.
- 54:38Speaker 4: You're making me have to do all this stuff. Why
- 54:40Speaker 4: are you doing this to me?
- 54:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:42Speaker 3: It's also the only time he shakes Cranston's hand and
- 54:46Speaker 3: then he immediately right open.
- 54:49Speaker 4: Yeah cool.
- 54:51Speaker 1: Yeah that's fun. Ah, but yeah, just that.
- 54:53Speaker 4: But yeah, that's fun. Have been it has fun? Yeah, yeah,
- 54:58Speaker 4: good clean fun. I can't imagine. There's a ton of quotes,
- 55:04Speaker 4: but let's let's go into our favorite quotes from Drive
- 55:07Speaker 4: and let's show.
- 55:08Speaker 1: Me the money, Show me the money, show me. So
- 55:18Speaker 1: maybe just say one for this one tell people to
- 55:21Speaker 1: do a lot.
- 55:21Speaker 3: But when I was watching it, I literally only wrote
- 55:24Speaker 3: down one quote, and I was like that, I got
- 55:26Speaker 3: to look up some more. I was like, Okay, there's
- 55:29Speaker 3: some other good there's some other good conversations too. The
- 55:32Speaker 3: one that I wrote down and the one that I
- 55:34Speaker 3: think is the most badass quote in this movie is
- 55:36Speaker 3: when he's in the diner and the guy's trying to
- 55:39Speaker 3: talk to him, and he goes, how about this, you
- 55:41Speaker 3: shut your mouth or I'll kick your teeth down your
- 55:43Speaker 3: throat and shut it for you. And then it's just
- 55:45Speaker 3: like silence for like ten seconds. After that, it's great,
- 55:49Speaker 3: great line, great line delivery lands on. It is terrifying
- 55:53Speaker 3: to hear like from his character who has said so
- 55:56Speaker 3: little to say something aggressive. That was probably my favorite one.
- 56:01Speaker 3: A couple of the others that I had were the
- 56:04Speaker 3: opening monologue, which he says a couple of times, but yeah,
- 56:07Speaker 3: the opening versions a little bit longer. He says, there's
- 56:10Speaker 3: one hundred thousand streets in this city. You don't need
- 56:12Speaker 3: to know the route. You give me a time of place.
- 56:14Speaker 3: I give you a five minute window. Anything happens in
- 56:17Speaker 3: that five minutes, and I'm yours no matter what. Anything
- 56:19Speaker 3: happens a minute out of side of that, and you're
- 56:21Speaker 3: on your own, which is like his whole montro. But
- 56:25Speaker 3: it's a bad ass way to open the movie to
- 56:28Speaker 3: really great. And then a couple less serious ones I
- 56:33Speaker 3: had where he's talking to Benizio and they're watching the
- 56:36Speaker 3: TV and he's like, see a bad guy. Bensia goes, Yeah,
- 56:39Speaker 3: he goes, how can you tell? He goes because he's
- 56:41Speaker 3: a shark, And he goes, there's no good sharks, which
- 56:43Speaker 3: I think is interesting because you talked about character a shark,
- 56:46Speaker 3: and I think that.
- 56:47Speaker 1: Is kind of that's where I got it from.
- 56:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's kind of the illusion in that
- 56:50Speaker 3: line is he's basically saying like, do you like, don't
- 56:53Speaker 3: judge a book by its cover? Kind of thing, like
- 56:56Speaker 3: is every shark bad because it's a shark? And then the
- 56:59Speaker 3: other one I had was when he meets Bernie and
- 57:01Speaker 3: he says, my hands are a little dirty and he
- 57:03Speaker 3: doesn't shake his hand, yes, and Bernie says, so are mine,
- 57:06Speaker 3: And in the moment it seems like a throwaway line,
- 57:08Speaker 3: but then we later see what Bernie is and it's
- 57:11Speaker 3: like it's implying that his hands are not clean. Is
- 57:14Speaker 3: has a much deeper meaning as we would like come
- 57:16Speaker 3: to find out what his characters about. Yes, so that
- 57:19Speaker 3: was a pretty good one.
- 57:21Speaker 4: Yeah, that was my favorite one. I definitely put that down. Yeah,
- 57:26Speaker 4: And after he violently stabs Cook to death, he says, no,
- 57:30Speaker 4: it's your turn to clean up after me. I like that.
- 57:33Speaker 1: Oh, it's pretty great.
- 57:34Speaker 4: Yeah, but I love he did. Yeah, I don't think
- 57:39Speaker 4: he liked him very much.
- 57:41Speaker 3: He's not a very likable dude, to be honest.
- 57:43Speaker 4: That's true that I wrote down the monologue Bernie gave
- 57:50Speaker 4: the driver. I guess he's like, here's what I'm prepared
- 57:53Speaker 4: to offer you. Give me the money. The girl is
- 57:56Speaker 4: safe forever. Nobody knows about her. She's off the map.
- 58:00Speaker 4: I can't offer you the same. So this is what
- 58:03Speaker 4: I would suggest. We conclude our deal. We'll shake hands.
- 58:06Speaker 4: You start the rest of your life. Any dreams you
- 58:08Speaker 4: have or plans or hopes for a future, I think
- 58:11Speaker 4: you're gonna have to put that on hold for the
- 58:13Speaker 4: rest of your life. You're gonna be looking over your shoulder.
- 58:16Speaker 4: I'm just telling you this because I want you to
- 58:17Speaker 4: know the truth. But the girl is safe. I thought
- 58:21Speaker 4: that was pretty badass.
- 58:22Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty wild. It's just so matter of fact, Like
- 58:27Speaker 3: his delivery is so like calm and calculated, and it
- 58:31Speaker 3: just like it is kind of extra chilling because of
- 58:33Speaker 3: like the seriousness of the subject matter, but the way
- 58:36Speaker 3: that he delivers it is just like this is just
- 58:38Speaker 3: how it is. It's just how it's gonna have.
- 58:41Speaker 4: To be, you know, And because he was kind of
- 58:43Speaker 4: so cool about that. It was even more shocking that
- 58:46Speaker 4: he like immediately stabbed him once he saw the bag there.
- 58:52Speaker 4: It was just like, whoa, Yeah, that guy was nuts.
- 58:55Speaker 4: I loved his.
- 58:55Speaker 1: Character so really fun. Yeah, I love that.
- 58:59Speaker 4: That was all I had though, And you said everything else?
- 59:02Speaker 1: Nice?
- 59:04Speaker 5: Want to see which ones do I have here? Oh?
- 59:06Speaker 1: I really liked when they're outside the convenience store and
- 59:10Speaker 1: they're about to do the the robbery that goes wrong,
- 59:14Speaker 1: him and Isaac and and all that when he's like hey,
- 59:19Speaker 1: because Oscar Isaac is like kind of freaking out and
- 59:22Speaker 1: he's like, hey, I'll see you in five minutes, and
- 59:24Speaker 1: he's like, i'll see you in four. I just thought
- 59:26Speaker 1: that was a cool line, nice little, nice little what
- 59:29Speaker 1: could have been? Have they both survived? Pretty fun. I
- 59:33Speaker 1: also loved Oscar Isaac telling about when they they met,
- 59:38Speaker 1: when they were like telling their how with that story,
- 59:40Speaker 1: it's like, so I over to her and I said, well,
- 59:43Speaker 1: my name is standard Gabrielle, and what did you say?
- 59:46Speaker 1: And she likes smiles and she's like, I said, where's
- 59:49Speaker 1: the deluxe version. I just thought that was.
- 59:52Speaker 5: A really fun little moment to see them and also.
- 59:56Speaker 1: The last time many of them are happy.
- 59:58Speaker 3: Maybe the only time who knows, Yeah.
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: Could be and like they're friends at that point too,
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: So it's like that little like the calm before the storm,
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: right of like we're gonna be okay. When he's freaking
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: out in the hotel room. Now you just got a
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: little boy's father killed, You almost got us killed. Now
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: you're lying to me, So how about this from now on?
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Every word out of your mouth is the truth where
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: I'm going to hurt you. Do you understand? Just like
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: it's kind of scary, yeah, freaking me out, but I
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: really liked it. Also, he got to be funny for
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: like half a second in one of the scenes and
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: it's when she shows up at the garage and like
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: he Cranston offers to you know, him to drive her home,
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: and it's that really cute little moment. But he's like
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: he had just been doing something on his car and
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: he was like, I don't have wheels on my car.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: That's one thing you should know about me.
- 1:01:00Speaker 6: That was a pretty funny, funny little moment in a
- 1:01:04Speaker 6: movie that didn't have any of them arguing, right, yeah,
- 1:01:11Speaker 6: that was all the ones I had.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: Bright not a lot of quotes, not a lot of
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: quote quotes.
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: Well, why don't we go to uh bus boohoo moments?
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: I don't think he had a lot of boohoos either.
- 1:01:26Speaker 4: I had a hard time with the boohoo's in this
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: because nothing ever like made me like actually sad. I
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: was more just shocked, yes, yes, shocked. So I honestly
- 1:01:42Speaker 4: didn't pick up boo who moment. There might have been
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: something with the kid, but I wasn't really feeling it,
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: Like I was thinking maybe the scene where like he
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: has the bullet that he's like holding on too, and
- 1:01:55Speaker 4: like that's just more just like that is though this
- 1:01:58Speaker 4: guy's going to kill some dude. Yeah, like you know,
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: you're right though.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: I didn't cry in that scene, but it's yeah, were
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: there some booze? There was one. One one, there's one,
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: not a lot of ones.
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: I had Cranston Cranston dying.
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: I had two possible ones of that. Maybe when when
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: Standard gets the crap kicked out of him and he's
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: on the ground and Benizio's like hiding around the corner.
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: Maybe that now that almost got me. That did almost
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: get me, but not not quite for that one.
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: And then the last one would probably be like something
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: relating to Irene. One of the final conversations.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: That is, that is the one. It's the it's the
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: specific of the line getting to be around you and Benizio.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: It's the best thing that ever happened to me because
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: he's kind of resigned himself to his faith at that
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: point too. I feel like a little bit and that
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: got me so but just the one that's yeah, I
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: was kind of surprised by that. But it's not like
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: that's very sentiment. Yeah, that's true, you know, like it's
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: not that's what.
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: They're the humanity of very many of these characters, so
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: like you don't feel for them exactly. It's like, this
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: is a very dark world y'all live in. Yeah, you
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: all make a lot of bad choices that result in
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: a lot of bad things.
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: Right, it's grows out here, figure it out, you know. Yeah,
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: totally totally. But yeah, that was it. Should we do
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: a little movie ter Rivia here?
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: Do it?
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: I don't how do you pronounce the director's name? I
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: think you said it.
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: Earlier, Nicolas Winding Refin.
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: Oh it is just refin? Okay, cool? Uh so, Ryan
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: Gosling and Winding Refin removed much of the driver's dialogue.
- 1:03:42Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: And after they did that, Brian Cranston felt that his
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: character Shannon should make up for the lack of talking
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: in the film, and so he made Shannon a motormouth
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: and apparently much of his dialogue is improvised, which just
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: seems right. That's awesome, Cranston's incredible.
- 1:03:58Speaker 4: That's great that you know that. I never really realized
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: that we didn't get his name and that they just called.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: It until I looked at the credits. I was like,
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: I never really thought about it. I thought I just
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: missed it or something. But okay, yeah, that's pretty crazy.
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: It's the old TV player from from Nothing you Do, Yeah,
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: the bass player.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: Yeah, don't worry about you don't need his name. Uh, Neil,
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: you'll probably like this one. In preparation for this role,
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: Ryan Gosling restored in nineteen seventy three Chevy Malibu that
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: his character uses in the film.
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty bad ass. And he he picked that car
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: and he helped do the engine build on it with
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: the mechanics on on set. That's pretty cool. Yeah, that
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: is pretty cool.
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: Well, I had that Impala that he used in the beginning.
- 1:04:46Speaker 4: That was the most common impaula of all the time
- 1:04:50Speaker 4: that one.
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: Hell yeah, he could have been high all the time many.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: Maybe he has been. How do we know?
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: What do we know.
- 1:05:01Speaker 4: They're going to be on?
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: Listen to a lot of basketball games.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: It does always on the radio. Very strange. I thought
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: this was kind of fun. The unusual way that Ryan
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: Gosling's driver holds the steering wheel with his thumbs crooked
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: over the outside rather than hooked inside uh uh, which
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: is like the more normal grip is actually the common
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: way that stunt drivers hold the wheel to avoid broken
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: thumbs during vehicle impacts.
- 1:05:30Speaker 4: That was fun. I also loved how we put the
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: watch on there.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: That was just cool, cool effect, A cool choice, Yeah
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: for sure, for sure.
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: Related to that. I don't know if you had this
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: on your on your tribute list, PIEK, but Gosling actually
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: took stunt driving lessons for this movie and did most
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: of the driving stunts himself, including the car chase after
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: the pawn shot, which is pretty bad.
- 1:05:55Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that's fun though.
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: Yeah. I think he didn't do the cop car rollover
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: that they were like filming. I don't think he did
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: that one, but he did basically all the driving stones otherwise,
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: that's pretty wild.
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: Yeah, man, that's cool. I love that. Oh, I thought
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: this was funny. The director, despite this obviously being a
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: very driving heavy storyline, he has no interest in cars.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: He doesn't have a driver's license, and he has failed
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: as driver's test eight.
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: Times, eight times.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: Eight times.
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: That's hilarious.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: Maybe he was driving like the stunts and that's why
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: it happened.
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: Wow, that is actually very funny to me.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: Thank god he doesn't like driving because he's obviously terrible.
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: At it, so of making a movie called drive, Yeah.
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: Times, I thought that was really wild. Albert Brooks was
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: in character when he met the director mister Reffin and
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: pinned him against the wall and spoke in a threatening manner.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: And like you said earlier, Roup he Brooks shaped his
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: eyebrows for this role to make his character more emotionless.
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: Wow, it was weird. It worked.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: I didn't like it.
- 1:07:06Speaker 5: I didn't care for it.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: Not for me, let's see. The opening chase scene was
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: primarily filmed by the director within the car's interior, and
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: in an interview, he revealed the idea for this scene
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: was to emulate the feeling of a diver being in
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: a notion of sharks. Maybe maybe I just stole the
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: sharks thing from everywhere, never leaving the vehicle during the
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: car chase, so that the audience can see what's happening
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: from the character's point of view. And also they were
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: tight on money in time, so he shot the scene
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: in two days with two different setups prepared in the car,
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: and he found it difficult to have mobility with the camera,
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: so he would like switch to camera. You know. I
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: had two additional setups nearby, and they would just like
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: hop swap out and.
- 1:07:55Speaker 5: He would jump in the different one.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: And he said he was disappointed that La had changed
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: for the better, so he had to avoid certain areas
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: to preserve the gloomy atmosphere of the movie. I just
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: thought that was kind of funny. It's very funny. Let's
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: see this movie Saved Or shares a tagline with No
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: Country for Old Men. Their tagline for both are there
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: are no clean getaways. It was kind of fun interesting.
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: Interesting.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: Do they still do taglines for every movie?
- 1:08:31Speaker 5: I don't.
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: That feels like I think I can do a lot
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: of times. But maybe it's interesting.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: I like them. I want to find out more of them.
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: We have that what else we got.
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: I've got one more if you if you don't have
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: it anywhere. So Drive was one of the last movies
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: that was filmed in LA before they switched from sodium
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: vapor lights to led street lights. Also, the mood of
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: the yellow amber twenty two hundred Calvin lights is something
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: that like we can't capture the same way anymore anymore,
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: because that was like one of the last they just
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: a couple of years after this was filmed is when
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: they swapped them all out, So, which is.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: A very interesting thing.
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: So there was like metal halid some kind of different
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: bulb used in the eighties that were too expensive because
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: the fuel shortages in the eighties, and so they switched
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: everything to cheaper sodium, which has this much more orange
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: yellow light flow to it. And so that was like
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: part of what added so much ambiance to this that
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: you don't really see in like current movies that are
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: set in LA which I think was really cool. So
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: they used a lot of visicual lighting when they were
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: doing those shots inside the car. It's just normal street
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: lights outside the car. They're not using any extra film lights.
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: That's cool. That's it, man, that's impressed.
- 1:09:45Speaker 5: That's really hard.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: Crazy. Uh, I forgot I had this. But Gosling's performance
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: is marked by the minimum minimum, minimalist god I suck today,
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: minimalist dialogue, with the driver only speaking a few words
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: at a time, if at all. In the entire film,
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: Driver speaks only one hundred and sixteen lines totally eight
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: hundred and ninety one words.
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: Wow, that's crazy, pretty good, pretty good.
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: Pretty well. I just thought it was fun that someone counted,
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: So I'm great all out there. I love it.
- 1:10:15Speaker 5: I love it.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: Let's see, I thought this was fun. Brian Cranston was
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: one of the first actors that Nicholas winding Refin looked
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: at to cast, as he was a fan of breaking bed.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: Like everybody, knowing Cranston had other opportunities, he tried to
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: interest him by asking how he'd like to develop the role,
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: but after not hearing back from him, he called him
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: at the very same time. Apparently, Cranston was writing on
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: a piece of paper the pros and cons of doing
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: the film, and he was just kind of swayed by
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: him being so interested he reached out to him, so
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: he accepted the part. I think it's kind of fun's
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: cool and just weird. That that's how timing works sometimes. Oh,
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: this is crazy. The locations were picked by Nicholas and
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: Ryan Gosling driving around the city at night in LA
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: and they just chose all the sites. And they chose
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: La because due to budget concerns, they thought it would
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: just be easier and cheaper, which doesn't seem like that
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: would be the case. But I like it.
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: Thanks. You don't have to travel everybody if you're already
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: based on I guess that's.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: True, right, And there's like the industry is around you everywhere.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: Driver references the fable of the scorpion and the frog.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: A frog agrees to carry a scorpion across the river
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: if the scorpion promises not to sting the frog. The
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: scorpion does promise, but halfway across, he stings the frog anyway,
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: saying it's by nature, and they both drown. Driver can
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: be seen as the frog of the story. He drives slash,
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: carries criminals around in his car, but is inevitably dragged
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: into their destructive world, leading to everyone's downfall. Driver's jacket,
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: which has the scorpion on the back, just as the
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: frog carried the scorpion on its back, thought that was
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: a fun little little story.
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: Interesting.
- 1:12:10Speaker 4: It is well, and he even references it at one point.
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: Have you heard the story of the Frog and the
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: Scorpion because it's He's like, Nino didn't make it or
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: whatever he says, which.
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: Is right, you didn't make it across the river.
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: That scene was awesome, by the way. We should have
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: probably mentioned that scene too, but it was sick.
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: Yeah, scary.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: Let's see, they had to severely edit the head stomp
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: scene because the ratings board thought it was too violent.
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: So this is the.
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: That's edited.
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: Terrifying, terrifying. Well, oh, when Ryan Gosling walks into the
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: trailer to take the bald headed mask behind him, there's
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: three makeup heads slash sculpts of Christina Hendricks.
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: That's funny. Yeah, I've had my girlfriend mentioned that and
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: I didn't catch it. She's like, I.
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: Didn't see that.
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: I was like, that's funny.
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: Yeah, so they were the ones that they used.
- 1:13:12Speaker 5: I guess once she got her head blown off, so
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: makes sense.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: Cool. Earlier, and Ron Perlman injured his kneecap while shooting
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: when a wave hit him during that scene that we
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: just talked about. Apparently one of the waves hit him
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: and he hurt himself injured. Yeah, I don't he must
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: have him a wave. I guess there is a big wave.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: I don't know. Interesting, I don't know, but yeah, I
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: need to see the tape roll the pack.
- 1:13:43Speaker 4: I saw a couple of things. When Gosling signed on
- 1:13:46Speaker 4: for the leading role. He was allowed to choose the
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: director of first in his career, and he chose Nicolas
- 1:13:53Speaker 4: Winding Refin. He admired his work, and I said it
- 1:13:58Speaker 4: had to be him. There was no other choice. Wow,
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: so that's pretty cool. Went to bat for him.
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: Made a good choice.
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: And back in two thousand and eight, Hugh Jackman was
- 1:14:08Speaker 4: originally cast as the driver, with Neil Marshall to direct.
- 1:14:15Speaker 4: They ended up dropping out in twenty ten and Gosling
- 1:14:19Speaker 4: was cast and said and all that, So Neil Marshall,
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: he's done. I didn't look him up at all for me.
- 1:14:27Speaker 4: But I can't really picture hu Japman in this hard.
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: I feel like, yeah, I mean he can play you know, obviously.
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: Broody and all that.
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: But we've all seen Logan.
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: Yes that's true, but it is true.
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: I think I don't know. I would be curious if
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: like his version of that character. Would be more talkative,
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: you know what I mean, if they would because the
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: strong silent type trope as much.
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: Yeah, it's kind of a chatter, you know.
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: Yeah. This director has done a lot of TV, but
- 1:15:09Speaker 4: probably the biggest thing was twenty nineteen's hell Boy Ironic? Yeah, yeah, yeah, interesting?
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: Was that the David Harbor one? Then?
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: Yeah? Well I would think I maybe that seems yeah,
- 1:15:27Speaker 4: that's just double check first.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: Must have been a long time. Yeah yeah, Oh was that? Wow?
- 1:15:33Speaker 4: I just can't believe that that was twenty nineteen. I
- 1:15:36Speaker 4: feel like people just saw that.
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: Yeah, that is crazy. Yeah.
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: Interesting, man, No, it's flying. That was all I had though.
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: Nice Neil. Did we say all your trivia that you had? Yeah?
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: Yeah, cool?
- 1:15:51Speaker 4: Cool?
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: I love it. Well, what about Judgment Day? Will there
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: be a sequel?
- 1:15:57Speaker 4: Did you see this? Trivia?
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: I did see this one? Do you want to say?
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: You want me to go for it? After a lot
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: of speculation from people on the possibility of a sequel
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: or a spin off to Drive, when asked about it,
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: the director said, no, there will never be a second
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: Tribe movie. It ends to imperfectly and that's.
- 1:16:13Speaker 5: Why it works.
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: So I guess no, No, I think.
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: I support that as much as I would love another
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: like trip into this world, I do think that it's
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: hard to imagine stringing together two and a half more
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: hours of story that doesn't kind of like take some
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: thing away from this, you know, agreed?
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: Him being mysterious is kind of part of it. Yeah,
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: I'm with you.
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: What if it just was like a rom com and
- 1:16:41Speaker 4: it's just like awful me crazy love it? I love it.
- 1:16:52Speaker 4: Let's make it happen. Do you guys want to play
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: a game?
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: I made a starting five. I'm in an my five
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: favorite actors from a particular film, And when you know
- 1:17:02Speaker 4: the film, you're going to ring in with your name.
- 1:17:05Speaker 4: If you get it wrong, there's no negative points, but
- 1:17:08Speaker 4: you won't be able to guess again for that movie.
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: If there are actors' names remaining, you can guess those
- 1:17:13Speaker 4: for a point each. The other person can steal if
- 1:17:16Speaker 4: you get any of those wrong. And all of these
- 1:17:18Speaker 4: films have something in common. When you know the theme,
- 1:17:21Speaker 4: you can ring it at any time for a point.

- 1:18:33Speaker 4: It's kind of piss after this part one.

- 1:21:12Speaker 1: Yeah, it is fun. Did we do an episode on Dave?
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: No?
- 1:21:15Speaker 5: Oh, okay, since I was a kid.
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: I think I watched it because.
- 1:21:19Speaker 4: It came up on here a bunch it has. Yeah,
- 1:21:22Speaker 4: I mean that cast is nuts, and there's like three more.
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: The president or something.
- 1:21:28Speaker 4: Yeah, he's the president and he's like a look alike
- 1:21:31Speaker 4: for the president.

- 1:22:06Speaker 1: No, he was in Red Dragon.
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: That's the one it is.
- 1:22:11Speaker 4: It's doubt, no doubt about it. You got one name remaining.
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: Must be you didn't say Meryl Streep, right, I didn't.
- 1:22:20Speaker 4: You did, And you got two points.
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: I've never seen that movie Robins. I need to get
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: on that.
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: That one's bonkers. That was my intro to Viola Davis.
- 1:22:30Speaker 4: I had seen her in previous films. I didn't remember her,
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: but she is so good in that movie.
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: It's heavy, though, right.
- 1:22:37Speaker 4: So heavy, so heavy, But it's clearly like a stage
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: play just from all the But dude, every one of
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: those ridiculously good actors gets their own monologue and they're
- 1:22:50Speaker 4: just incredible, dude, so highly recommend.
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: Let's check that out.
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: Let's go to number five. The first name is Killian Murphy.
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: Ooh.
- 1:23:03Speaker 4: The second name is Kenneth Brana. The third name is
- 1:23:09Speaker 4: Barry Kyogan.
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: Wow Neil Neil Dunkirk.
- 1:23:17Speaker 4: It is Dunkirk and you have two names, Renice, I.
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: Have actually never seen this, and I don't know who
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: else is in it, so you steal.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: That puts me in a very bad spot because I
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: also don't I believe Tom Hardy is in it.
- 1:23:34Speaker 4: Yes he is. He was the number one guy I picked.
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: And then isn't it? Is it one of the Jonas
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: brothers that's in it?
- 1:23:44Speaker 4: He you know, a pop star.
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: He's a pop star.
- 1:23:50Speaker 4: Yep, yeah yeah, but that's not.
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: Who I picked. Oh that's not how you picked. No,
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: it doesn't matter. I don't know.
- 1:23:57Speaker 4: You're thinking of Harry Styles. Harry Styles was in it.
- 1:24:01Speaker 4: Mark Ryland did not know that, Oh.
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: Mark Ryland, Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: Yeah, Actually he didn't know that Tom Hardy was in it.
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: So I feel a little silly for not throwing that
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: out there.
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: But I actually saw that driving down from Portland down
- 1:24:16Speaker 4: to Abes place. Oh love that rep and I stopped
- 1:24:21Speaker 4: somewhere outside of sale in my things.
- 1:24:23Speaker 3: It is also on my on my Plex watch list.
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: I think it'll be a good one for the projector.
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: But yeah, I never saw it in theaters.
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: Oh yeah, it was so loud. Honestly, yeah it was.
- 1:24:35Speaker 4: It was kind of a bummer in the theater.
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: Really hated it.
- 1:24:37Speaker 4: So yeah, it was really really loud.
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: How many Where are we?
- 1:24:43Speaker 4: After five? You got uh?
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: Two?
