• 1:37
Speaker 2: It was a stormy early morning here in the Kenaugh Valley.
• 1:40
Speaker 2: I spent the early morning hours picking up trash cans
• 1:43
Speaker 2: since it's garbage day in my neighborhood and I'm a
• 1:46
Speaker 2: good neighbor. Plus, because just about everyone around us is retired,
• 1:51
Speaker 2: I was probably the only person awake when the storm
• 1:54
Speaker 2: rolled in about five fifteenth. More in the weather coming
• 1:56
Speaker 2: up with Metro News mediaiologist Brian Hughes. Plus this Friday,
• 1:59
Speaker 2: there's gonna be special event here in Charleston and evening
• 2:01
Speaker 2: with Marshall President Brad Smith and his wife the least.
• 2:04
Speaker 2: Will talk about that with the event coordinator Rusty web
• 2:07
Speaker 2: No Danny Jones today got a text from Dandy during

Speaker 2: Tony the Taylor text three zero four nine three five
• 2:24
Speaker 2: five zero zero. I want to welcome to the show
• 2:26
Speaker 2: now doct Josh Williams talking about an event coming up
• 2:29
Speaker 2: in the not too distant future at Marshall University. It's
• 2:33
Speaker 2: called the Mind Muscle Classic, and he joins us now,
• 2:36
Speaker 2: welcome to the show, sir.
• 2:38
Speaker 4: Hey, thank you so much for having me. Really appreciate it.
• 2:40
Speaker 2: Tell us about this event, the Mind Muscle Classic.
• 2:44
Speaker 4: Well, the OCB. Mind Muscle Classic is a natural bodybuilding event,
• 2:48
Speaker 4: one of the first of its kind other than last
• 2:49
Speaker 4: year when I held the first annual Mind Muscle Classic.
• 2:52
Speaker 4: It is for natural bodybuilders all around the State, the
• 2:56
Speaker 4: tri State, the nation. The OCB is a natural bodybuilding
• 2:59
Speaker 4: organization and founded by Matt Shepley, and we currently have
• 3:03
Speaker 4: hundreds of shows all over the country and all over
• 3:06
Speaker 4: the world. And the real mission of my show in
• 3:09
Speaker 4: the OCB in general is to provide an even playing
• 3:11
Speaker 4: field for athletes to come and compete in a drug
• 3:15
Speaker 4: tested sport where they can display their discipline and hard work.
• 3:20
Speaker 2: And when you talk about natural and define that, I mean,
• 3:22
Speaker 2: I think everybody knows what you're talking about, But just
• 3:24
Speaker 2: in case, what do you mean by all natural?
• 3:27
Speaker 4: Sure? Absolutely, there are multiple federations for bodybuilding out there,
• 3:30
Speaker 4: and what I would say is natural is the current standard.
• 3:33
Speaker 4: We follow WATA standards, and WATA, the World Anti Doping Agency,
• 3:38
Speaker 4: provides a list of substances that are considered well not
• 3:43
Speaker 4: safe for use and not usable in sport, and so
• 3:47
Speaker 4: we follow WATTA standards and what that means for our athletes.
• 3:50
Speaker 4: All athletes get drug screened and all of our pro
• 3:53
Speaker 4: card winners those who can then transition into the pro ranks,
• 3:56
Speaker 4: have a water grade year analysis. And so to the
• 3:59
Speaker 4: best of our ability, we try and make everything.
• 4:02
Speaker 2: Even talk about the different categories that you had because
• 4:05
Speaker 2: you have a bunch of I was reading your information,
• 4:08
Speaker 2: Doctor Williams. You got a lot of different categories.
• 4:11
Speaker 4: Yeah, a bunch of different categories for all types of competitors.
• 4:13
Speaker 4: And I really want to emphasize, like the purpose of
• 4:15
Speaker 4: my show is to increase this opportunity for teens and
• 4:18
Speaker 4: young folks. I think it gives them an opportunity to
• 4:21
Speaker 4: challenge themselves and develop discipline and then display that in
• 4:25
Speaker 4: a ritual in front of their peers and elders and so.
• 4:29
Speaker 4: But as far as the divisions and categories go, we
• 4:31
Speaker 4: do offer open bodybuilding, So that's your classic bodybuilding category.
• 4:35
Speaker 4: Lots of muscularity, lots of conditioning. Classic physique has come
• 4:38
Speaker 4: into popularity with the advent of Chris Bumpstead and the
• 4:41
Speaker 4: IFPB and things like that. More of your seventies eighties
• 4:45
Speaker 4: shape and conditioning than you have men's HYZIQ. And that's
• 4:47
Speaker 4: the board short category. So for anybody who just wants
• 4:50
Speaker 4: to try out the stage, I think this is a
• 4:51
Speaker 4: great category for you to just jump into. You've been training,
• 4:55
Speaker 4: put on some muscularity, you want to put on some
• 4:57
Speaker 4: board shorts, Lots of different resource is learning how to
• 5:00
Speaker 4: pose there. And then as far as the female categories,
• 5:03
Speaker 4: we have bikini wellness, and figure, and then also women's physique,
• 5:08
Speaker 4: and that is ascending the real differences. There are differences
• 5:12
Speaker 4: in muscularity and conditioning, and then we're looking for certain proportions.
• 5:16
Speaker 4: But we have several male and female categories, and that
• 5:20
Speaker 4: split sort of our show. We have males in the
• 5:22
Speaker 4: morning and then females in the afternoon.
• 5:24
Speaker 2: How's us evolved through the years? I mean, kind of
• 5:27
Speaker 2: take us to this. I guess probably the seventies was
• 5:29
Speaker 2: probably the big boom. I mean, it's been going on
• 5:31
Speaker 2: for a long time. Of the seventies was the big
• 5:33
Speaker 2: boom of this, and then it's kind of gone through
• 5:36
Speaker 2: different different phases over the years. Talk about the evolution
• 5:39
Speaker 2: of the sport, well, I.
• 5:41
Speaker 4: Think, well, so you have the well if I can
• 5:45
Speaker 4: just speak about this somewhat openly. So we are a
• 5:47
Speaker 4: natural bodybuilding organization, and some federations are either explicitly or
• 5:52
Speaker 4: quietly enhanced federations. I think in the seventies and eighties,
• 5:56
Speaker 4: the natural bodybuilding organizations weren't as prominent, But you enter
• 6:00
Speaker 4: the nineties and the early two thousands, you have the WNBF,
• 6:05
Speaker 4: you have the NABA Bodybuilding Organization, and then you have
• 6:08
Speaker 4: in the early two thousands. You have the OCB in
• 6:10
Speaker 4: the formation of that, and I think the evolution of
• 6:14
Speaker 4: the sport is such that now the natural organizations are
• 6:18
Speaker 4: sort of catching up to some of the enhanced organizations,
• 6:21
Speaker 4: and so we're just able to provide more of this
• 6:24
Speaker 4: sport to a wider variety of folks who maybe don't
• 6:27
Speaker 4: necessarily want to take some of the things that you
• 6:29
Speaker 4: would have to take to be competitive in those arenas.
• 6:33
Speaker 4: And so where we sort of parken back to tradition
• 6:36
Speaker 4: is the shape and proportion of the sort of seventies
• 6:40
Speaker 4: and eighties era. However, we differ in our judging criteria
• 6:44
  Speaker 4: from other organizations.
• 6:46
Speaker 2: You talked about getting younger people involved in this. Why
• 6:49
Speaker 2: isn't that so important?
• 6:51
Speaker 4: Well, honestly, it's very personal for me. I remember as
• 6:54
Speaker 4: a young man, you know, in my teens and early twenties,
• 6:58
Speaker 4: just looking for control in some area of my life.
• 7:02
Speaker 4: And you know, as the young I made mistakes. I
• 7:04
Speaker 4: tried to control things that were outside of my control.
• 7:06
Speaker 4: And then as a clinical psychologist you come to discover
• 7:09
Speaker 4: one of the first things that you go through with
• 7:10
Speaker 4: your clients is you have to understand what is in
• 7:12
Speaker 4: and out of your control and I think the important
• 7:14
Speaker 4: thing for teams here is they learn multiple things that
• 7:17
Speaker 4: are in their control. They learn how to control their training,
• 7:19
Speaker 4: they learn how to control their nutrition, and something deeper,
• 7:23
Speaker 4: they learn how to control some of these downstream emotions,
• 7:27
Speaker 4: and they learn how to handle physical and some psychological
• 7:31
Speaker 4: distress due to the training and due to the dieting.
• 7:34
Speaker 4: And if we can provide them a platform that is
• 7:37
Speaker 4: healthy with the right people, much like myself, who I
• 7:40
Speaker 4: encountered the right people so that I could do this naturally,
• 7:43
Speaker 4: then I think this is a good pathway for them
• 7:45
Speaker 4: to take these skills into their professional and socialized sort
• 7:50
Speaker 4: of moving forward. So it's important for me to get
• 7:52
Speaker 4: teams involved because I think these skills both benefit them
• 7:55
  Speaker 4: physically and psychologically.
• 7:57
Speaker 2: Talking to begin with doctor Josh Williams. Where can people
• 7:59

Speaker 2: Marshall University. They just kind of worked out that way.
• 11:21
Speaker 2: It's Friday night at an event called an Evening with Brad
• 11:24
Speaker 2: and Elise Smith here to talk about a good friend
• 11:26
Speaker 2: with an organizer friend of the program, Musty Web, How
• 11:28
Speaker 2: you doing my friend?
• 11:29
Speaker 5: Hey? And Chris Grassi and Chris Grassy as well.
• 11:31
Speaker 2: Yeaheah, all right, So talk about this event then we'll
• 11:35
  Speaker 2: break it down.
• 11:35
Speaker 5: Well, first of all, we've had a tenant Marshall has
• 11:38
Speaker 5: had a tennis tournament in the in Charleston for thirty
• 11:42
Speaker 5: thirty eight years. It's been at the y the entire time,
• 11:46
Speaker 5: and we decided to shake things up move it over
• 11:49
Speaker 5: to CTC. Better viewing, you know, more, a little more
• 11:54
Speaker 5: I'm not going to say accommodating, but you can. You
• 11:56
Speaker 5: can do a lot more over there than you can
• 11:58
Speaker 5: at the Y. So in con junction with the first
• 12:00
Speaker 5: night of the tournament, Brad and Lease have have agreed
• 12:06
Speaker 5: to come up and have a reception with any any anyone.
• 12:09
Speaker 5: It's not just for alumna and anyone who wants to come.
• 12:12
Speaker 5: That's the good news. And of course Chris grass he's
• 12:16
Speaker 5: a rock star in his own right. And remind people
• 12:19
Speaker 5: who Chris grass Grassy's the only National Championship Division one
• 12:22
Speaker 5: champion in the state of West Virginia as far as
• 12:24
Speaker 5: I can tell, and he is the soccer coach at Marshall. Yeah,
• 12:28
Speaker 5: twenty twenty. We actually won it in twenty twenty one,
• 12:30
Speaker 5: but it was a twenty twenty title. I was there.
• 12:33
Speaker 5: It was good. It was great anyway, as because they're
• 12:39
Speaker 5: so popular, it's it and I had to I have
• 12:43
Speaker 5: to limit it. I can't. I can't bring it. You know,
• 12:45
Speaker 5: a thousand people. It's sold out, like in a heartbeat,
• 12:48
Speaker 5: or at least RSV p'te in a heartbeat because Brad
• 12:52
Speaker 5: and Elise are just rock stars. Have I said rock
• 12:57
Speaker 5: stars enough? I mean they really are. They really are.
• 12:59
Speaker 5: They just impressive people, very impressive. So you can't go,
• 13:05
Speaker 5: but we're gonna have it.
• 13:07
Speaker 2: We'll tell you about it.
• 13:08
Speaker 5: Well, we'll tell you about it. Yeah.
• 13:10
Speaker 2: So, and it's amazing to me. And again we're talking
• 13:12
Speaker 2: to Rusty Web that Marshall has been on an upswing
• 13:17
Speaker 2: for a number of years. But it's on steroids. I
• 13:21
Speaker 2: guess after the body building thing. I shouldn't say steroids,
• 13:24
Speaker 2: but that's it's appropriate. But but not not with that one.
• 13:27
Speaker 2: That but but uh, it has just been accelerated since
• 13:31
Speaker 2: Brad Smith has gotten there. There is an energy around
• 13:35
Speaker 2: Marshall university. Uh that it's just off the charts right now.
• 13:38
Speaker 5: Yeah, it is. Uh, I've had total strangers or people
• 13:44
Speaker 5: that i've you know, you know, are quaint our acquaintances
• 13:47
Speaker 5: will come up to me, he says. Man that Marshall University. Man,
• 13:51
Speaker 5: there it is. It is going like that. Brad Smith
• 13:54
Speaker 5: is something else. I said, yeah, he is.
• 13:56
  Speaker 8: He is.
• 13:56
Speaker 5: I mean it's just I mean the guy could be
• 14:01
Speaker 5: President of the United States. I mean that's the kind
• 14:03
Speaker 5: of credentials he has. I mean he's up there with
• 14:07
Speaker 5: Bezos and Gates and all these you know, national corporate leaders,
• 14:12
Speaker 5: and he chose to come back and head up his university.
• 14:17
Speaker 5: I mean, the story, it's a great story. He really
• 14:19
Speaker 5: is and if you meet him, you'll never forget him.
• 14:22
Speaker 5: He is humble, He kept the and he kept the accent.
• 14:28
Speaker 5: And he tells a story about where they wanted to
• 14:30
Speaker 5: send him to New York to a dialect coach, and
• 14:32
Speaker 5: he said, I'm not going. I'm proud of my accent,
• 14:35
Speaker 5: and that that's what makes me want to run through
• 14:37
Speaker 5: a wall. You know, because you and I are from
• 14:39
Speaker 5: southern West Virginia and we don't have the Wayne County accent.
• 14:44
Speaker 5: That dialects a little bit different.
• 14:46
  Speaker 2: It's a little different.
• 14:47
Speaker 5: But but and man is different, by the way. I'll
• 14:49
Speaker 5: tell you that sometime. But we are proud of our accent.
• 14:53
  Speaker 3: Man.
• 14:53
Speaker 5: Nobody's going to change us. Right.
• 14:56
Speaker 2: Well, right when you look at somebody like Brad Smith again,
• 15:01
Speaker 2: who has done so much in his life, is a
• 15:07
Speaker 2: multi millionaire, he doesn't well we never talked about it now,
• 15:11
Speaker 2: but no, he doesn't need the job, That's what I'm saying.
• 15:13
Speaker 2: And he doesn't even need to be in West Virginia. Yeah,
• 15:16
Speaker 2: but he chooses to be. Oh, I thought you're gonna
• 15:20
Speaker 2: no ask your question.
• 15:22
Speaker 5: No, no, but I mean and then Chris, of course,
• 15:24
Speaker 5: Chris Grass is just as smooth as smooth as silk. Actually,
• 15:30
Speaker 5: his wife, Allison and I are playing mixed doubles in
• 15:33
Speaker 5: the tournament. Allison's are very good. What everybody in the
• 15:36
Speaker 5: tennis community knows her from and both of them from
• 15:40
Speaker 5: the University of Charleston days. So there are no strangers
• 15:44
Speaker 5: to the tennis com or she isn't you know. And
• 15:47
Speaker 5: you know they got they have the kids now and
• 15:48
Speaker 5: they bring them up and hopefully we can do it
• 15:50
Speaker 5: all together. I was going to say, do it together,
• 15:54
Speaker 5: say they don't have to come back, but I'm hoping
• 15:55
Speaker 5: that at least you'll have to come back, you know,
• 15:57
Speaker 5: I hope we won our first round. But uh, that's
• 16:00
Speaker 5: where I'm going after this is I'm gonna go here
• 16:02
Speaker 5: with her for a couple of hours.
• 16:03
Speaker 2: One of the great things again that really impressed me
• 16:08
Speaker 2: about Brad Smith is when he's at these events, he
• 16:11
Speaker 2: and his wife both, but when they're at these events,
• 16:13
Speaker 2: how accessible that they are. Not saying that past presidents
• 16:16
Speaker 2: haven't been, but I'm just saying, you know, I mean,
• 16:19
Speaker 2: it's like and when you and I've talked to Brad Smith.
• 16:22
Speaker 2: I talked to President Smith numerous times. He always seems
• 16:25
Speaker 2: to be a lot more interested in you than you
• 16:27
Speaker 2: are in him, if that makes any sense. He he
• 16:31
Speaker 2: makes you feel like you are important. And I have
• 16:34
Speaker 2: seen I've worked events with him, and it doesn't matter
• 16:36
Speaker 2: whether you're the bank president, Rusty Webb or the person
• 16:41
Speaker 2: who is you know, serving up the food. He's going
• 16:44
Speaker 2: to get to know you and he's going to ask
• 16:45
  Speaker 2: about you.
• 16:46
Speaker 5: That's right, he yeah, yeah. And and and the first
• 16:54
Speaker 5: lady at least, I mean, she sells us. She has
• 16:57
Speaker 5: she has these seminars, they sell out again in a heartbeat.
• 17:02
Speaker 5: I mean, she she is a she is a special
• 17:09
Speaker 5: person in her own right. Like she's not she's not
• 17:12
Speaker 5: the you know, the first lady. She is. She she
• 17:14
Speaker 5: has her own thing going on. And just when you
• 17:17
Speaker 5: combine those two, uh, and that, and that's what's happening,
• 17:22
Speaker 5: you're gonna enrollment has gone up. Interest in the school
• 17:26
  Speaker 5: was gone up.
• 17:29
Speaker 2: And just look if I mean I was at Marshall
• 17:32
Speaker 2: starting in nineteen ninety Okay, yeah, you're a baby. Yeah
• 17:36
Speaker 2: that's when I was there. And when you when you
• 17:39
Speaker 2: drive down Fourth Avenue, third fifth Avenue or Hawgar Boulevard,
• 17:44
Speaker 2: Marshall's pretty much taken over Huntington right now. Yeah, I mean,
• 17:47
Speaker 2: and it's amazing to see everything is a Marshall University
• 17:50
Speaker 2: building of something of some kind.
• 17:52
Speaker 5: Now, Yeah, Huntington, Huntington, Huntson nice place. I went down there.
• 17:59
Speaker 5: I was down there on a Saturday. No, I was
• 18:02
Speaker 5: down there on a Sunday one day. I don't even
• 18:04
Speaker 5: know why. I was driving coming through from Kentucky, and uh,
• 18:08
Speaker 5: the downtown was just vibrant, like like like cars were everywhere.
• 18:15
Speaker 5: It was like it was a Friday or Saturday night.
• 18:17
Speaker 5: So yeah, Huntington's got it going on. H Marshall's got
• 18:20
Speaker 5: it going on. They've always been. I've always had this
• 18:23
Speaker 5: great partnership, you know, between the city and the.
• 18:26
Speaker 2: Well, I mean you have mean you know. We interviewed
• 18:28
Speaker 2: Patrick Ferrell on Midday, the mayor, yeah, a couple of
• 18:31
Speaker 2: weeks ago, and he just said, look as as Honey,
• 18:33
Speaker 2: as marsh University goes, so goes Huntington.
• 18:36
Speaker 5: Well, I tell you something. I think that it's the
• 18:39
Speaker 5: best kept secret in the state of West Virginia. And
• 18:41
Speaker 5: I try to get my friends at the Municipal League
• 18:44
Speaker 5: and the County commissioners is to go go visit the
• 18:48
Speaker 5: Marshall Advance Manufacturing. It used to be the Robert C.
• 18:51
  Speaker 5: Bird Manufacturer.
• 18:52
  Speaker 2: I've been there.
• 18:52
Speaker 5: It's great. That's where I got my trophies this year.
• 18:54
Speaker 5: I mean it only makes sense, right, I mean, I
• 18:56
Speaker 5: had my trophy, my Marshall trophies made it to Marshall Manufacturing.
• 19:00
Speaker 5: And if if if the mayors and county commissioners and
• 19:05
Speaker 5: businesses of this state knew the the partnership opportunities with
• 19:12
Speaker 5: just the manufacturing part and the job opportunities, you can
• 19:16
Speaker 5: get a certificate in one week down there. One week
• 19:19
Speaker 5: a certificate forty hours. I was blown away when I
• 19:24
Speaker 5: took that tour, blown away, and I look for every
• 19:28
Speaker 5: opportunity to connect, not only with Marshall, but particularly the
• 19:33
Speaker 5: manufacturing aspect. It's just it's just people are making you
• 19:37
Speaker 5: know how you everybody's looking for that side hustle. That's
• 19:40
Speaker 5: your side hustle right there.
• 19:42
Speaker 2: The first time I ever learned about three D printers,
• 19:45
Speaker 2: that was at that facility on fourth, fourth Avenue, Third Avenue.
• 19:51
Speaker 2: I've been there, fourth, Yeah, it's fourth. There was very impressive.
• 19:55
Speaker 5: There was a story about a guy that they couldn't
• 19:57
Speaker 5: find vending machine parts for these old vending machines, and
• 20:01
  Speaker 5: so I don't know who was. I think it's somebody
• 20:03
Speaker 5: in Huntington. If I did, I wouldn't name them. So
• 20:06
Speaker 5: they go, they start making these and start having gross
• 20:10
Speaker 5: revenues of a million dollars something as obscure as vending
• 20:14
Speaker 5: machine parts. I mean, it's crazy, how the potential.
• 20:16
Speaker 2: Yeah, well, the text that I got here that you
• 20:20
Speaker 2: reference was WVU just brought home the latest national championship
• 20:24
Speaker 2: in rifle. So you aren't.
• 20:26
Speaker 5: Entirely now, I know. I'm always cognizantive rifle and I
• 20:29
Speaker 5: always know that the West Virginia people are out there
• 20:31
  Speaker 5: on rifle.
• 20:32
  Speaker 4: I just.
• 20:34
Speaker 5: You know, football, basketball, baseball, soccer, you know what I mean.
• 20:39
Speaker 5: And don't get me wrong, I was expecting that question,
• 20:42
Speaker 5: and I was exact expecting that And I just want
• 20:45
Speaker 5: to tell the listener Marshall had a rifle team at
• 20:48
Speaker 5: one time, and I actually tried out for the rifle
• 20:50
Speaker 5: team because I thought if I could shoot deer, I
• 20:52
Speaker 5: can shoot right. Shoot. It's not the same. It's a
• 20:55
Speaker 5: very different skill set. So props to the to the
• 20:59
Speaker 5: WVU rifle team, and props to the women's basketball team
• 21:04
Speaker 5: for women for winning the Big Twelve and and forgetting
• 21:07
Speaker 5: to host first round. Yeah, so yeah, no I'm not
• 21:10
Speaker 5: I'm not. You know, I'm not anti WVU.
• 21:13
Speaker 2: Here's the thing, Rusty, you can you can be okay
• 21:15
  Speaker 2: with both?
• 21:16
Speaker 5: Wait, yeah you really can. I support both tennis teams.
• 21:19
Speaker 5: I'll go up and I support wvun Marshall tennis team
• 21:23
Speaker 5: pretty heavily actually, So yeah, it's all good. But yeah,
• 21:26
Speaker 5: thanks for having me on. Allison's waiting for me, And.
• 21:30
Speaker 2: I want to ask you something before you got business politics,
• 21:33
Speaker 2: all right, ya, I want to ask you about politics
• 21:34
Speaker 2: what do you think about the what do you think
• 21:37
  Speaker 2: about session?
• 21:37
Speaker 5: Well, I thought about that question too. I thought you'd
• 21:40
Speaker 5: ask me as a former legislator, what do you think
• 21:42
Speaker 5: as a former legislator. I have to impose Reagan. I
• 21:46
Speaker 5: said this when I was shaving this morning. Eleventh commandment, and.
• 21:50
Speaker 2: They speak will ill of other Republicans.
• 21:52
  Speaker 4: Yah.
• 21:53
Speaker 5: And I also had this thing that this morning. I
• 21:55
Speaker 5: had this. I thought that if you're a doctor, you
• 21:59
Speaker 5: know you're your mantris first do no harm? And uh,
• 22:05
Speaker 5: I just I don't know. They said they were going
• 22:08
Speaker 5: to work on economic development. They said it, and then
• 22:11
Speaker 5: they go back to their some of the silly stuff
• 22:16
Speaker 5: that I wish they'd stay away from. But they're friends
• 22:18
Speaker 5: of mine. So, like I said, I I know, listen,
• 22:23
Speaker 5: unless you're in the unless you're in the pit, Dave,
• 22:27
Speaker 5: you don't know you and you don't and you know
• 22:29
Speaker 5: how the sausage is made. It's it's tough to it's
• 22:32
Speaker 5: tough to judge what they do. So I'm you know,
• 22:36
Speaker 5: they did the best they could with the sixty days
• 22:38
Speaker 5: they had. And that's about all I can say.
• 22:44
  Speaker 1: Further than that.
• 22:45
Speaker 5: No, I just so so much low hanging fruit in
• 22:49
Speaker 5: this day, Dave. Tourism, my god, we could explode with tourism.
• 22:54
Speaker 2: Maybe you should run again.
• 22:56
Speaker 5: People been begging me to run for something, and I
• 22:59
Speaker 5: told them, I love my wife more than I love
• 23:01
Speaker 5: the state of West Virginia. It's one and two, but
• 23:04
Speaker 5: well three after my family, after God, God, Robin Family,
• 23:09
  Speaker 5: West Virginia.
• 23:10
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the order, all right. I know it's sold out,
• 23:13
Speaker 2: but give us the details again just in case.
• 23:16
Speaker 5: So it's an evening with Bradon Elise Smith, first President,
• 23:21
Speaker 5: first Lady at Marshall University six to eight at the
• 23:24
Speaker 5: Charleston Tennis Club in the actual tennis not the clubhouse.
• 23:29
Speaker 5: It's actually at the tennis courts, so you can watch
• 23:32
Speaker 5: tennis and talk to them and all that. Of course,
• 23:37
Speaker 5: you know who's gonna cater who's that Bourbon Street bistro
• 23:41
Speaker 5: of course. Yeah, so yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
• 23:45
Speaker 5: And then the tournament runs all weekend. We have as
• 23:48
Speaker 5: of this morning or as of last night, we had
• 23:50
Speaker 5: seventy one players, longest second longest tennis tournament in the
• 23:54
Speaker 5: state of West Virginia, second only to Charleston Public Courts,
• 23:57
Speaker 5: which started I think in the early seventies maybe sixties.
• 24:02
Speaker 5: Are started thirty eight years ago. Whatever whatever the math is.
• 24:06
Speaker 2: On that, keep keep doing good things for Resty.
• 24:10
Speaker 5: Thank you brother, You're always well. I love that, you know.
• 24:12
Speaker 5: I love the state. God I want to state to
• 24:13
Speaker 5: do so well. Man, Maybe should run for off. I
• 24:16
Speaker 5: get frustrated. Well, I know, talk to Robin. You gotta
• 24:20
Speaker 5: talk to Robin about Yeah, all right.
• 24:23
  Speaker 2: I'll say all right, it's a rusty Webbye. I appreciate

Speaker 2: Texas tourism could do big things for the state. Think
• 27:43
Speaker 2: of all the people coming here to get serviced by
• 27:46
Speaker 2: low wage employees. Think of all the seasonal, part time
• 27:48
Speaker 2: low wage job. Sure missed the boat this session, says
• 27:51
Speaker 2: a text, Well, look, it brings money into the state
• 27:55
Speaker 2: of West Virginia to the tune of millions, and I
• 27:57
Speaker 2: understand completely what the text is saying. Generally speaking, jobs
• 28:00
Speaker 2: in tourism generally speaking, don't pay a whole lot. I
• 28:06
Speaker 2: get that. I mean they, you know, they pay, but
• 28:08
Speaker 2: not not as much. But it's not always about the
• 28:11
Speaker 2: employment as much as it is about bringing the money
• 28:14
Speaker 2: into the state. But I do completely understand what the
• 28:19
Speaker 2: text is saying. But I mean, we're killing it on
• 28:22
Speaker 2: tourism right now in West Virginia. I mean, we really
• 28:24
Speaker 2: a big shout out to Chelsea Ruby and and we
• 28:28
Speaker 2: have been killing it for for a while. And I
• 28:31
Speaker 2: do like the fact that we do. I don't agree
• 28:33
Speaker 2: with the legislature on everything, trust me, okay, but I
• 28:36
Speaker 2: do I do one d think that we have a
• 28:40
Speaker 2: number of legislators who see the importance of tourism in
• 28:44
Speaker 2: West Virginia and what we have here that people in
• 28:47
Speaker 2: other areas don't have. I'm talking about, you know, whitewater rafting,
• 28:52
Speaker 2: I'm talking about the skiing. I'm talking about the mountains
• 28:54
Speaker 2: and the hat Film McCoy Trail and the other trail systems.
• 28:57
Speaker 5: And you know, just in.
• 28:59
Speaker 2: Putnam County, thousands and thousands of people every year come
• 29:03
Speaker 2: to Putnam County, West Virginia, about two or three miles
• 29:05
Speaker 2: from my house for the Meek Mountain Trails. I mean,
• 29:08
Speaker 2: just a lot of a lot of big national events
• 29:10
Speaker 2: are coming here. And there's even more. There's even more coming.
• 29:14
Speaker 2: And it is interesting too because the younger generation. Uh no,
• 29:20
Speaker 2: and this is not gonna be me complaining. I'm actually
• 29:23
Speaker 2: giving them credit. The younger generation seems to put a
• 29:26
Speaker 2: lot more emphasis on outdoor activities than what older folks did.
• 29:32
Speaker 2: And uh they it's about the experience with a lot
• 29:34
Speaker 2: of not not all, but a lot of them. It's
• 29:37
Speaker 2: and and one of the reasons that we have seen
• 29:39
Speaker 2: such an uptick in people, younger people coming into West
• 29:42
Speaker 2: Virginia was for that purpose, was for it was because
• 29:46
Speaker 2: they it's not only about the job. They enjoy the
• 29:51
Speaker 2: outdoor stuff that we have to offer here in West Virginia.
• 29:53
  Speaker 2: It's good stuff.
• 29:54
  Speaker 4: Uh.
• 29:55
Speaker 2: Wild weather it was early this morning, continues to be showers, thunderstorm.
• 30:00
Speaker 2: I mean the wind actually woke me up last night,
• 30:02
Speaker 2: which is saying something. And then I get out of
• 30:04
Speaker 2: bed this morning and getting ready to take a shower,
• 30:07
Speaker 2: take a look out the window this morning to see
• 30:09
Speaker 2: garbage cans flying everywhere, and I mean some big time winds.
• 30:14
Speaker 2: Winds are actually the wind advisory I think is going
• 30:17
Speaker 2: to be around for a while. But then we've also
• 30:19
Speaker 2: got much colder temperatures and some snow showers. Been checking
• 30:23
Speaker 2: with meteorolog is Brian Hughes here momentarily to kind of
• 30:26
Speaker 2: see what we can expect for the rest of the day.
• 30:30
Speaker 2: Tex says, if the session was the best Republicans could
• 30:33
Speaker 2: do with sixty days, perhaps they need more time. I
• 30:35
Speaker 2: was going to say they need voted out and replace,
• 30:37
Speaker 2: but that makes sense, says a tankster. Well, I think,
• 30:41
Speaker 2: and again, we're going to get into the session coming
• 30:44
Speaker 2: up a little bit later on on Metro News Midday. Actually,
• 30:48
Speaker 2: State Democratic Party Chair Mike Pushkin is going to join
• 30:50
Speaker 2: us in State Republican Party Chair Josh Holstein. Both are
• 30:53
Speaker 2: going to join us on the show today and a
• 30:55
Speaker 2: couple other legislators as well, to get everybody's take on
• 30:58
Speaker 2: this session. This session was, in a lot of people's eyes,
• 31:03
Speaker 2: was disappointing in a lot of ways. You could hear
• 31:06
Speaker 2: it in my man Rusty Webb's voice there. Rusty himself
• 31:10
Speaker 2: a former legislator who keeps a close eye on politics.
• 31:12
Speaker 2: But you know, there were some good things that came
• 31:15
Speaker 2: out of a legislature. I think it's going to be.
• 31:19
Speaker 2: And again time will tell when you go back and
• 31:21
Speaker 2: you study these things as to what kind of a
• 31:24
Speaker 2: session it was. I thought in a lot of ways,
• 31:27
Speaker 2: it was disappointing, certainly a chaotic ending if you were
• 31:30
Speaker 2: paying attention to it late Saturday night. And Rayley's Law,
• 31:35
Speaker 2: of course did not go through. And I mean if
• 31:40
Speaker 2: you heard the comments from delicate Sean fluh Hardy, who
• 31:46
Speaker 2: is running for Senate, just I mean flu Hardy is
• 31:49
Speaker 2: a fiery guy anyway, and he was just fit to
• 31:54
Speaker 2: be tied. As my grandmother would say about about Rayley's
• 31:57
Speaker 2: Law not passing, and this was the law that and
• 32:02
Speaker 2: I'm just kind of paraphrase it basically, Uh, it was
• 32:05
Speaker 2: going to It was not anti homeschool by any stretch
• 32:09
Speaker 2: of the imagination as it was painted by some people. Uh,
• 32:12
Speaker 2: it was just going to put some some some There
• 32:16
Speaker 2: was going to be more eyes on homeschooling, especially when
• 32:20
Speaker 2: they're well one, when there is an investigation involved some
• 32:24
Speaker 2: sort of a CPS type investigation, and and it and
• 32:28
Speaker 2: it did not pass, and there were people dragging their
• 32:31
Speaker 2: feet and so on. So a lot of people are
• 32:32
Speaker 2: upset about that. A lot of Republicans were upset about that.
• 32:36
Speaker 2: I can tell you I saw comments online from folks
• 32:38
Speaker 2: like a delicate Andy Shamlin also UH Senator Amy Nicole Grady,
• 32:43
Speaker 2: both Republicans that were that were very upset by. But
• 32:46
Speaker 2: again we'll get in all that on Metro News Midday
• 32:49
Speaker 2: to Day. And the aforementioned Sean Fluhardy. Delegate flu Hardy
• 32:52
Speaker 2: will be on the show today. UH, I might as
• 32:54
Speaker 2: well go ahead and tell you who else is going
• 32:55
Speaker 2: to be on the show today. Mentioned we have stated
• 32:59
Speaker 2: both stayed Republican, both party chairs should say Josh Holstein
• 33:04
Speaker 2: and Mike Pushkin. They'll both be on the show today.
• 33:06
Speaker 2: Mentioned it. Delegate Sean flu Hardy will be on the show.
• 33:08
Speaker 2: Jeff Jenkins will have the news today. The governor has
• 33:11
Speaker 2: a press conference at the capitol at noon today. We'll
• 33:14
Speaker 2: check in on that. Fred Persinger is going to review
• 33:16
Speaker 2: the state girls basketball term, making it's ready for the
• 33:18
Speaker 2: boys tournament, which gets underway tomorrow at the Connell see
• 33:20
Speaker 2: mcconvention Center. Ellen Allen is here from No Relation is
• 33:24
Speaker 2: here from the group West Virginians for Affordable Healthcare. And
• 33:26
Speaker 2: it's also Monday, which means we're going to introduce you
• 33:29
Speaker 2: to another great mayor from around the state, and of
• 33:31
Speaker 2: course open line West Virginia Metro News Midday with thirteen
• 33:34
Speaker 2: News and Tonight Live anchor Amanda Baron and Me coming
• 33:36
Speaker 2: up at noon today powered by Selango Law. Among the
• 33:40
Speaker 2: guests on the local show tomorrow, Attorney General J. B.
• 33:42
Speaker 2: McCuskey will be here and again no Danny Jones on
• 33:45
Speaker 2: the show today. Poor Danny, trying to get back from California,
• 33:48
Speaker 2: sent me a text at around twelve thirty am this morning.
• 33:51
Speaker 2: Of course I was long asleep by then told me
• 33:53
Speaker 2: he was stuck in the Atlanta airport, which if you've
• 33:56
Speaker 2: ever been stuck in the Atlanta airport, I can think
• 33:59
Speaker 2: of hundreds of better ways to spend a night. Danny
• 34:01
Speaker 2: will be back with this coming up hopefully next Monday.
• 34:06
Speaker 2: Texas cannabis brings money into the state. If legalized, it
• 34:09
Speaker 2: would bring more money than tourism. But cannabis legislation has
• 34:12
Speaker 2: met with It's not a fix all while tourism and
• 34:16
Speaker 2: its low wage jobs heralded as the economy saving opportunity.
• 34:19
  Speaker 2: I think there is a bias. I don't disagree with
• 34:23
Speaker 2: that statement. Not a cannabis user myself, but I think
• 34:28
Speaker 2: it's time to look at it. I will say that
• 34:31
Speaker 2: I think it's time to seriously take a look at it.
• 34:36
Speaker 2: Texas says a better session than last year, but still disappointing,
• 34:40
Speaker 2: especially for the Senate. No strategic plan going into the session.
• 34:43
Speaker 2: The House did a great job, says a texture. Tex
• 34:47
Speaker 2: says the whole school lobby has more sway in the
• 34:49
Speaker 2: legislature than at risk vulnerable children do. That's how this
• 34:53
Speaker 2: year's session went. Tex says Donald Trump is the best
• 35:00
Speaker 2: president of winning wars. He's won the Iran War seven
• 35:04
Speaker 2: times in just two weeks. Little little humor there from
• 35:09
Speaker 2: the Texter, and we'll get I'm gonna get a little
• 35:12
Speaker 2: bit more on the Iran War coming up. It's not
• 35:15
Speaker 2: a war, I guess, coming up a little bit later
• 35:17
Speaker 2: on in the show. You know, I'm a big fan
• 35:19
Speaker 2: of Bill Maher. I've told you before I don't agree
• 35:21
Speaker 2: with Bill Maher and everything, but I am I am
• 35:23
Speaker 2: a fan. And I went back over the weekend and
• 35:26
Speaker 2: watched the most recent episode, but then I watched one
• 35:29
Speaker 2: from a couple of weeks ago, and on that show,
• 35:32
Speaker 2: he had on Don Lemon and he also had on
• 35:35
Speaker 2: Adam Shift and it was really a good moment because
• 35:43
Speaker 2: it was actually kind of a funny moment. Adam Shift
• 35:47
Speaker 2: was talking about how this president, President Trump has overstepped
• 35:51
Speaker 2: his boundaries and that there's no real strategy, no real
• 35:54
Speaker 2: reason why we went into this conflict in Iran and
• 35:57
Speaker 2: that part of the world. There was really no reason
• 35:59
Speaker 2: for it, and how he bypassed Congress altogether. So he's
• 36:05
Speaker 2: so Bill Maher comes back and reads a statement. He says,
• 36:07
Speaker 2: and I'm going to very much paraphrase the statement. It
• 36:10
Speaker 2: says something like, well, as leader, I have to do
• 36:13
Speaker 2: what I think is best for the security of America.
• 36:17
Speaker 2: And again, very much paraphrase him. That's pretty much what
• 36:19
Speaker 2: he said. Adam Schiff responds was, yes, that is no
• 36:22
Speaker 2: I'm sorry. Bill Maher says, was that too vague. Adam
• 36:24
Speaker 2: Shiff says, yes, that was too vague. Bill Marher responds
• 36:27
Speaker 2: by saying, Okay, that was a statement that Barack Obama
• 36:30
Speaker 2: made and it kind of I think went over the
• 36:33
Speaker 2: head of a lot of the people in the audience,
• 36:36
Speaker 2: But yeah, that was the that's the exact words that
• 36:38
Speaker 2: Barack Obama used on a mission I think in Syria.
• 36:42
Speaker 2: So this idea and I'm speaking not necessarily as a
• 36:45
Speaker 2: Trump fan. But this idea that this is something new
• 36:50
Speaker 2: that we go into an area and we bypassed Congress.
• 36:53
Speaker 2: The idea of it this is something new, I think
• 36:54
Speaker 2: is very, very disingenuous because it's it's this has been
• 36:58
Speaker 2: going on under various presidents for some time. The Dave
• 37:02
Speaker 2: Island Show in five any Lie brought to you in
• 37:04
Speaker 2: part by Morgan and Morgan, America's largest injury law firm,
• 37:08
Speaker 2: tex says Dave. This is why we need Ben Selango
• 37:10
Speaker 2: as governor. He has these ideas to bring in people
• 37:13
Speaker 2: from all over the US, whether it's sports, hiking, atv
• 37:16
Speaker 2: trail camps along the rivers.
• 37:18
  Speaker 4: Vote.
• 37:18
Speaker 2: Soelango, all right, mister Selango, County Commission President, Ben Selango,
• 37:23
Speaker 2: you got a fan here? You got one? And I'm kidding,
• 37:26
Speaker 2: I'm kidding, texts says Dave. If recreational weed wouldever be legalized,
• 37:34
Speaker 2: this would be a devastating mistake for many reasons. Common sense,
• 37:39
Speaker 2: says a texture. It is interesting if you go back
• 37:42
Speaker 2: and you read some of the states that have legalized
• 37:46
Speaker 2: marijuana for recreational use, and just like anything else, you
• 37:50
Speaker 2: can get a report that pretty much says anything to
• 37:53
Speaker 2: line up with your particular views. There are numerous reports
• 37:57
Speaker 2: out there that say it has been fantastic economically, but
• 38:01
Speaker 2: there's also a lot of reports out there that say
• 38:03
Speaker 2: it's not so much. It's not been that great. Again,
• 38:09
Speaker 2: I'm speaking as a non marijuana user, not against just
• 38:13
Speaker 2: not my thing. I will say this, though, I have
• 38:16
Speaker 2: visited areas where not a lot, but a few areas
• 38:21
Speaker 2: where marijuana is legal. If I had any complaint with
• 38:25
Speaker 2: it whatsoever, it probably would be that a lot of people,
• 38:29
Speaker 2: a lot, not all, A lot of people think that
• 38:32
Speaker 2: because weed is legalized, that they can light it up anywhere.
• 38:36
  Speaker 2: And that's a little that's a a little problematic for me.
• 38:41
Speaker 2: And what I mean by that is is I don't smoke,
• 38:44
Speaker 2: never have smoked, But you can't just smoke anywhere you want,
• 38:48
Speaker 2: can't just walk around with a beer can anywhere you want.
• 38:52
Speaker 2: But for some reason, a lot of people that smoke
• 38:54
Speaker 2: weed think it's okay for you to just light up
• 38:56
Speaker 2: wherever you are. And that I got up that's not
• 39:01
Speaker 2: all that. I got a little bit of a problem

Speaker 2: injured on the East End and we get the story
• 39:25
Speaker 2: you can posted about at WV metro news dot com.
• 39:27
Speaker 2: Happened just after one o'clock Sunday morning in the three
• 39:30
Speaker 2: hundred block of Elizabeth Street following an altercation. Apparently, according
• 39:35
Speaker 2: to the police report, and according to Daniel's story, apparently
• 39:39
Speaker 2: two warning shots were fired into the ground. Now, the
• 39:42
Speaker 2: person who did the shooting says it was self defense.
• 39:45
Speaker 2: The investigation continues. There two people were injured by shrapnel
• 39:50
Speaker 2: after warning shots were fired into the ground. I first
• 39:53
Speaker 2: read this story yesterday, and I am no ballistic expert
• 39:58
Speaker 2: by any stretch of the imagination, but should warning shots
• 40:02
Speaker 2: be fired into the ground, just saying I don't necessarily
• 40:07
Speaker 2: think that was the wisest thing to do. Daniel has

Speaker 2: Welcome back to the show. It's ten minutes away from
• 43:34
Speaker 2: ten on a Monday morning, Texas Dave. They light up
• 43:37
Speaker 2: their drug and public because their brain numb to have
• 43:39
Speaker 2: no idea where they are, says a texture Tex says Dave.
• 43:43
Speaker 2: Independent voters have given the Republicans every opportunity to help
• 43:46
Speaker 2: West Virginia and its people, and they have failed miserably.
• 43:48
Speaker 2: No legislation on out of control utility costs and food costs.
• 43:53
Speaker 2: So it's the texture well, and now independent voters are
• 43:56
Speaker 2: we're told by the State Republican Party during their meeting,
• 43:59
Speaker 2: which is their right, can set their rules, that Republicans
• 44:03
Speaker 2: don't need them anymore. And so just know that when
• 44:06
Speaker 2: you go to votes, either on election day or if
• 44:08
Speaker 2: you do early voting, that if you are an independent
• 44:10
Speaker 2: voter in West Virginia. We talked about it a lot,
• 44:13
Speaker 2: but I have a feeling some people are gonna be
• 44:14
Speaker 2: upset because it's not sunk in if you're if you're
• 44:17
Speaker 2: a registered independent and you walk into your polling place
• 44:19
Speaker 2: and you say, I am an independent, but I like
• 44:22
Speaker 2: a Republican ballot. The poor poll worker, don't yell at
• 44:24
Speaker 2: him or her. It's not their fault. Are going to
• 44:26
Speaker 2: say ah now because the State Republican Party made that
• 44:29
Speaker 2: decision that they did not need independent voters. Brian Hughes, Yes, sir,
• 44:35
Speaker 2: how you doing man, well?
• 44:37
Speaker 14: Just watching the rain, showers and the storms. Yes, yes,
• 44:40
Speaker 14: night we had. I had a little birthday party on
• 44:42
Speaker 14: the back deck of the boat yesterday evening, and I said, boy,
• 44:46
Speaker 14: aren't y'all glad you did it today not tomorrow.
• 44:48
Speaker 2: I told the story earlier five point fifteen. This morning,
• 44:52
Speaker 2: I'm out, I'm watching garbage cans. It's garbage day in
• 44:55
  Speaker 2: the neighborhood.
• 44:56
  Speaker 10: Yeah.
• 44:56
Speaker 2: Watch, and I'm watching garbage cans go. They just don't
• 44:58
Speaker 2: generate enough garbage. That's what the the problem is. They
• 45:01
Speaker 2: didn't have the problem in my house, but mine didn't
• 45:04
Speaker 2: blow over, but our neighbors did. I was out there
• 45:06
Speaker 2: picking them by. That was some hilacious winds this morning.
• 45:08
Speaker 2: And are we done with the winds yet?
• 45:09
Speaker 14: Well, actually we do have right now the next front,
• 45:13
Speaker 14: and this is the one that's gonna drop everything. The
• 45:16
Speaker 14: next front is just starting to move through, and we've
• 45:19
Speaker 14: got behind it win gus twenty to thirty miles per
• 45:22
Speaker 14: hour that is moving through. It's moving into east western
• 45:25
Speaker 14: Kenock County right now. That those shoppers of storms just
• 45:28
Speaker 14: moving through the Tay Valley area back up to Ripley
• 45:32
Speaker 14: and then on down to let's say, even Chapmanville. That
• 45:35
Speaker 14: line of storm moving off to the east right now,
• 45:37
Speaker 14: and it's moving in pretty decent quipped but behind it,
• 45:40
Speaker 14: the temperatures are dropping dramatically. We've got temperatures right now
• 45:43
Speaker 14: in the mid fifties in Charleston, but it's the mid
• 45:46
Speaker 14: forties in Huntington. And then as we head into this evening,
• 45:48
Speaker 14: of course, that's where we're gonna see, you know, the
• 45:50
Speaker 14: possibility of getting a few snowflakes around the area. There's
• 45:52
Speaker 14: a winter weather travel advisory across parts of the mountains.
• 45:56
Speaker 14: It includes Nicholas County. But that you know, I don't
• 45:59
Speaker 14: think we're gonna have any big travel problems, but there'll
• 46:01
Speaker 14: be some slick spots tonight, and then by tomorrow morning,
• 46:03
Speaker 14: you know, we're down to twenty two degrees in Charleston,
• 46:06
Speaker 14: which tomorrow's high only thirty three.
• 46:07
Speaker 2: So it was basically from what I understand, it was
• 46:09
Speaker 2: like seventy degrees at midnight last night. Yeah, and by
• 46:12
Speaker 2: the end of the day, by the end of let's
• 46:14
Speaker 2: say eight nine o'clock to night, temperature is going to
• 46:16
Speaker 2: be in the thirties, eventually going to the twenties.
• 46:17
Speaker 14: Yeah, it's gonna be dramatically different. And but you know,
• 46:21
Speaker 14: we've got this cool down. Then we have the significant
• 46:24
Speaker 14: warm up that will return, but just you know, it's
• 46:26
Speaker 14: just getting to that point. But right now, you know,
• 46:29
Speaker 14: the thing that we're looking at across the across the
• 46:31
Speaker 14: entire region is the fact it's just going to be
• 46:33
Speaker 14: gosh darn cold tonight on into tomorrow, and then the
• 46:37
Speaker 14: numbers for the for the rest of the week. I've
• 46:39
Speaker 14: got Tuesday, this is really hilarious. Thirty three Tomorrow, ty
• 46:44
Speaker 14: Tomorrow's thirty three, yes, thirty three Wednesday. Wednesday, we go
• 46:48
Speaker 14: to forty five Thursday, sixty and then we're back to
• 46:52
Speaker 14: seventy on Saturday and sixty.
• 46:55
  Speaker 1: Seven on Sunday.
• 46:55
Speaker 2: Welcome to March exactly in like a line out like
• 46:59
Speaker 2: a lamb. But you don't think that there's any travel
• 47:01
Speaker 2: issues and they're on now part of the world.
• 47:03
Speaker 5: We have to be.
• 47:03
Speaker 14: Concerned, No, not particularly listen to the bulk of this activity. Well,
• 47:07
Speaker 14: we have severe you know, tornado watches across the Carolinas
• 47:10
Speaker 14: this morning, and we've got severe thunders on mornings there.
• 47:13
Speaker 14: We had all of ours overnight. Actually, we had the
• 47:15
Speaker 14: severe thunders warning that was intered for parts of Knawla
• 47:18
Speaker 14: County was had a tagline in of a tornado possible.
• 47:22
Speaker 14: We didn't see some spin ups there, but I say
• 47:24
Speaker 14: spinufs in the middle level of the atmosphere, we saw
• 47:26
Speaker 14: some spin so we had to be concerned about that.
• 47:28
Speaker 14: But right now it's just gonna be this a line
• 47:30
Speaker 14: of shoppers and storm's coming through within the next hour,
• 47:32
Speaker 14: and that's definitely gonna make some things a little wild
• 47:35
Speaker 14: around here for just a touch, all right, I.
• 47:37
Speaker 2: Mean realig is Brian here. Appreciate you being here, my friend,
• 47:39
Speaker 2: absolutely good to be here.
• 47:40
Speaker 14: Not if I we got to get in the studio
• 47:42
  Speaker 14: this morning.
• 47:43
Speaker 2: Thanks a lot. It is five minutes away from tan Tex,
• 47:46
Speaker 2: says Marshall. Matt Dillon and Chester are always shot warning
• 47:48
Speaker 2: shots in the air. Yeah, that's what I was kind
• 47:51
Speaker 2: of alluding to. There was the fact that the shots,
• 47:54
Speaker 2: I mean again, I don't know exactly what happened over there,
• 47:56
Speaker 2: but morning shots, you generally speak, can go up in
• 47:58
Speaker 2: the air and should not go to the g.
• 48:00
Speaker 14: I can't speak to a little bit of insider information.
• 48:03
Speaker 14: They are taking all of the all the video that
• 48:07
Speaker 14: they have for all the cameras, and then we they
• 48:09
Speaker 14: were prosecuting the fullest extent all of the all of
• 48:11
Speaker 14: the folks who entered back into the facility, forced their
• 48:15
Speaker 14: way back in The video shows all of all they
• 48:19
Speaker 14: were tossed out prior to and then when they returned
• 48:23
Speaker 14: that's when all of the altercations happened. But they forced
• 48:26
Speaker 14: themselves in into a door that should not have been
• 48:29
Speaker 14: even utilized at all.
• 48:31
Speaker 2: Not only meteorologists, he knows stuff too.
• 48:34
Speaker 14: I was well PG, good friend of mine, and we
• 48:37
Speaker 14: talked immediately the next morning at the brunch over at
• 48:41
  Speaker 14: Sam's Uptown Cafe.
• 48:42
Speaker 1: He's just he was just furious.
• 48:43
Speaker 14: Oh yeah, just upset, and he just he voluntarily called
• 48:47
Speaker 14: the ABC this morning. They would have made the determination
• 48:50
Speaker 14: for closing them for ten days. He voluntarily called him
• 48:53
Speaker 14: and said, I'm closed for ten days and you know,
• 48:55
Speaker 14: not anything that we could have particularly controlled. But but
• 49:00
Speaker 14: he said, we're going to do some deep cleaning, fix
• 49:03
Speaker 14: a few things while it's closed down, and go from there.
• 49:05
Speaker 2: All right, Brian Hughes appreciate it, man, of course, thanks
• 49:07
Speaker 2: a lot. It's four minutes away from Tama. Dave Island

• 49:19
Speaker 2: Columbus over the weekend. Cannabis is legalized there and that
• 49:22
Speaker 2: plays full of energy and economic activity. It may be
• 49:25
Speaker 2: Ohio states or that it's a major city. However, the
• 49:28
Speaker 2: sky wasn't falling, cars weren't crashing like a Michael Bay movie,
• 49:31
Speaker 2: and no one was running around naked from eating gummies.
• 49:34
Speaker 2: Only thing that sucked was the way Ohioans change lanes
• 49:37
Speaker 2: while driving. They say a prayer, crank the wheel and
• 49:39
Speaker 2: wish for the best.
• 49:41
  Speaker 5: That's a texture.
• 49:42
Speaker 2: All those poor Ohio drivers, man, they always take a
• 49:46
Speaker 2: lot of crap. They really did, and probably with good reason.
• 49:48
Speaker 2: Because I worked in Ohio and I know exactly what
• 49:51
Speaker 2: you're talking about. I'll actually be in Columbus this weekend,
• 49:54
Speaker 2: so Texter, I will. I'll get back with you and
• 49:57
Speaker 2: I'll do my report from Columbus next week next Monday.
• 50:02
Speaker 2: Tex says Trump said he bombed iron because he felt
• 50:05
Speaker 2: in his bones. He's stupid. Got to go destroying America,
• 50:10
Speaker 2: it says a texture. Speaking of Iran, we'll close the
• 50:13
Speaker 2: show with this. Two things you can always talk about
• 50:16
Speaker 2: the weather, which we just did, and gas prices they're up.
• 50:22
Speaker 2: I think I heard just on Bloomberg to start the
• 50:25
Speaker 2: show overall about twenty seven percent odd number, but I
• 50:29
Speaker 2: think it's like twenty seven percent. They're up and there
• 50:32
Speaker 2: is no indication that they are going to be going
• 50:35
Speaker 2: down anytime soon. And I thought about this because someone
• 50:40
Speaker 2: else had posted it on social media. Do you remember
• 50:42
Speaker 2: a couple of years ago when we had a spiking
• 50:44
Speaker 2: gas prices and at your local convenience store of people
• 50:47
Speaker 2: were putting Joe Biden stickers on the gas pumps and
• 50:51
Speaker 2: with the finger or was it well? I actually at
• 50:54
Speaker 2: first I saw it with Obama, and then I later
• 50:56
Speaker 2: saw it when it spiked a little under under Joe
• 50:58
Speaker 2: Biden as well, people putting the stickers on there and
• 51:01
Speaker 2: pointing to the price of gas, saying I did that.
• 51:04
Speaker 2: I wonder if we are going to see those with Trump,
• 51:08
Speaker 2: just saying I saw a meme about it on social media,
• 51:10
Speaker 2: so just I thought I would I would report. One
• 51:14
Speaker 2: of the things, though, I have to say that kind
• 51:16
Speaker 2: of cracks me up is people who say gas is
• 51:19
Speaker 2: going up, you better fill up. Well, okay, that's all
• 51:23
Speaker 2: well and good if you don't drive anywhere. But if
• 51:25
Speaker 2: you fill up now, what you're gonna do the following
• 51:28
Speaker 2: week when it goes up even more in the following week.
• 51:31
Speaker 2: Because again, as long as this thing is going on,
• 51:34
Speaker 2: and Trump now is urging allies to try to keep
• 51:36
Speaker 2: the trader from moves open, long as this thing is continuing,
• 51:39
Speaker 2: gas prices are not going to be going down anytime soon.
• 51:42
Speaker 2: They're just going to continue to go up and up
• 51:43
Speaker 2: and up. I mean, at least that's the way that
• 51:45
Speaker 2: the guess what the gas industry is saying now, that's
• 51:47
Speaker 2: the way that it looks right now. So I mean,
• 51:50
Speaker 2: panic buying and saying we're gonna go fill up now
• 51:53
Speaker 2: is all great if you leave your car parked, but
• 51:55
Speaker 2: if you take it anywhere, probably not such a good
• 51:57
Speaker 2: idea because you're gonna have to have it again. All Right,
• 51:59
Speaker 2: we gotta go. I'll see you later today on Metro
