Speaker 5: Hello, and we are we are looking forward to a
• 1:01
Speaker 5: really good show tonight.
• 1:04
Speaker 2: We have we have the coach from Spring.
• 1:08
Speaker 5: Valley that and and I want to say this just
• 1:13
Speaker 5: so everybody knows I'm not Everybody knows that I'm not
• 1:16
Speaker 5: really a basketball kind of guy.
• 1:17
  Speaker 2: Not that I don't like it. I just I wasn't
• 1:19
Speaker 2: very good at it. But going to to the Spring
• 1:24
Speaker 2: Valley game, the girls game, Yes, the girls game.
• 1:28
  Speaker 6: Yes, I didn't pass.
• 1:30
  Speaker 2: Yeah. Whatever.
• 1:33
Speaker 5: One of the interesting things that I that I saw
• 1:36
Speaker 5: in the game was I loved the way that team
• 1:39
Speaker 5: worked like they passed the ball and I was I was,
• 1:43
Speaker 5: I was like amazing, I'm I'm tapping holes. I'm like, man,
• 1:46
Speaker 5: watch the way they you know, how many times do
• 1:48
Speaker 5: they pass the ball before they take a shot. And
• 1:51
Speaker 5: it didn't look selfish. It looked team oriented. It just
• 1:55
Speaker 5: looked so good and it impressed me so much. I
• 1:58
Speaker 5: was like, man, we need to get we need to
• 1:59
Speaker 5: get the coach on, you know, so without further ado,
• 2:03
Speaker 5: we will bring in a coach and uh, I don't
• 2:07
Speaker 5: know if he got to hear all of that information that.
• 2:10
Speaker 2: We coach bow Miller in Spring Valley.
• 2:16
Speaker 5: Coach, I just want to I just want to take
• 2:19
Speaker 5: my hat off because I would tell you right now
• 2:22
Speaker 5: I would love to play on a team that you coached.
• 2:26
Speaker 5: And I am curious to figure out is it was
• 2:30
  Speaker 5: it just a.
• 2:31
Speaker 2: Combination of the right mix of girls.
• 2:33
Speaker 5: And the right system that you guys were able to
• 2:37
Speaker 5: literally teamwork. To me, I felt your teamwork beat beat
• 2:44
Speaker 5: the team like I mean, I think y'all just won
• 2:46
  Speaker 5: the game.
• 2:47
Speaker 2: Solely on just teamwork.
• 2:52
Speaker 7: That's what basketball supposed to be, isn't it all five
• 2:53
Speaker 7: girls playing as one?
• 2:54
Speaker 2: You know, that's what that's what you think.
• 2:57
Speaker 8: Anyway, we need to hit you up with the NBA.
• 3:02
  Speaker 2: With that question.
• 3:03
Speaker 6: Coach, let me exactly that was going to be.
• 3:08
Speaker 5: When you look at when you look at professional basketball
• 3:11
Speaker 5: or maybe even college basketball.
• 3:12
Speaker 2: And I don't know if this is a tough question
• 3:13
Speaker 2: for you or not.
• 3:14
Speaker 5: Do you see it like the way that because it
• 3:17
Speaker 5: doesn't look like the way that you're coaching it or
• 3:19
Speaker 5: the way that your young ladies are playing it. It
• 3:21
Speaker 5: just it looks perfect the way your kids are playing it.
• 3:26
Speaker 7: We like to model ourselves after the European way of
• 3:28
Speaker 7: playing basketball. That's where we get all our a lot
• 3:30
Speaker 7: of our stuff from, yeah and the DC basketball.
• 3:35
Speaker 9: And just to let the audience know, Spring Valley girls
• 3:38
Speaker 9: they won the Quad A championship against Morgantown this past Sunday. Coach,
• 3:44
Speaker 9: and we're talking to coach bau Miller. You were twenty
• 3:46
Speaker 9: three and two this year and you've been in the
• 3:50
Speaker 9: mix the last couple of years. What picked this team
• 3:53
  Speaker 9: over the hump?
• 3:55
Speaker 7: Well, I think we came back with a big chip
• 3:56
Speaker 7: on our shoulder for underachieved last year. All the girls
• 4:00
Speaker 7: thought last year should have been our year, and we
• 4:02
Speaker 7: got up here and moved ov a lay the egg
• 4:05
Speaker 7: that first night, you know, and they at that after that,
• 4:10
Speaker 7: they you know, put in the work and the time
• 4:13
Speaker 7: they do have to sacrifice their own skills and their
• 4:15
Speaker 7: own personal goals for that one team goal. That's what
• 4:18
Speaker 7: they all strive for this year.
• 4:20
Speaker 8: Awesome, that's awesome. Hi, coach, this is Lisa Odie. Thanks
• 4:23
Speaker 8: for being on the show tonight.
• 4:25
Speaker 7: Oh, thanks for having me.
• 4:26
Speaker 8: Hey, So I have a question and you guys just
• 4:29
Speaker 8: coming off that fresh championship and the and the the
• 4:32
Speaker 8: girls basketball tournament. Something that they're talking about is the teamwork.
• 4:37
Speaker 8: Unfortunately I couldn't be there to witness it, but I
• 4:39
Speaker 8: have seen some clips. So how do you assess the
• 4:42
Speaker 8: strengths and weaknesses of opposing teams? You know, when you're
• 4:46
Speaker 8: developing a game plan for like a championship game.
• 4:50
Speaker 7: Oh, it's a lot of scouting, a lot of filmwork.
• 4:54
Speaker 7: We played Morgantown earlier in the year, so we had
• 4:56
Speaker 7: already scouted them several times, so a lot of preparation
• 4:59
  Speaker 7: goes into it.
• 5:01
Speaker 6: Yeah. Oh, I was just going to add to it.
• 5:04
Speaker 8: So, and are there any times that you kind of
• 5:06
Speaker 8: have to, like to adjust your strategies when you see
• 5:09
Speaker 8: something that you weren't expecting from the other team.
• 5:11
Speaker 6: How do you handle that during a game?
• 5:14
Speaker 7: Well, our girls are pretty pretty basketball smart. Wow, So
• 5:17
Speaker 7: we have to make an adjustment to the game. It's
• 5:19
Speaker 7: usually just a time out and you know, we have
• 5:21
Speaker 7: to write it down to show them. Sure, you get
• 5:23
Speaker 7: them more exact how to go, but once they figured
• 5:27
Speaker 7: it out, it's it's pretty good. Our girls are pretty.
• 5:28
  Speaker 6: Smart and talented.
• 5:31
Speaker 2: And specifically with the game.
• 5:33
Speaker 9: You know, Morgantown has some very skilled athletes as far
• 5:37
Speaker 9: as on that team, you had Jones, you had Killogg,
• 5:39
Speaker 9: you know, a couple of the girls they are the
• 5:41
Speaker 9: you know, the daughters of w VU men's and women's
• 5:44
Speaker 9: basketball coach. So in trying to, you know, as Lisa mentioned,
• 5:49
Speaker 9: develop a game plan to stop those skilled athletes. What
• 5:51
Speaker 9: what what thought went into that?
• 5:53
Speaker 7: Well, I'm really glad that the job in Indiana his
• 5:58
Speaker 7: thought about four or three against us. But yeah, I
• 6:03
Speaker 7: mean we knew coming in that Killogg and Jones would
• 6:06
Speaker 7: try to take over the game and we just try
• 6:08
Speaker 7: to take away their strengths and kellogg strengths was getting
• 6:11
Speaker 7: to the basket, and Jones's strengths is going to.
• 6:13
Speaker 2: That left block, yep.
• 6:15
Speaker 7: And we just we just sit on her left hand
• 6:17
Speaker 7: the whole game. And Drea Parker did not hardly get
• 6:20
Speaker 7: off her left hand the whole game. And then Sophie
• 6:23
Speaker 7: Hutchison just you know, kept kell all out in front
• 6:25
Speaker 7: of where to get to the rim, and her game
• 6:27
Speaker 7: is getting to the rim one of the foul line.
• 6:29
  Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
• 6:31
  Speaker 4: Wow.
• 6:31
Speaker 5: And and when you when you're doing when, when you're
• 6:33
Speaker 5: crafting that kind of a scouting report for a team,
• 6:39
Speaker 5: when when did you look at when did you look
• 6:41
Speaker 5: at it and say, oh, gosh, this is really working,
• 6:44
Speaker 5: Like this is like this is this is gonna this
• 6:46
Speaker 5: is really hurting them, because to me, it looked like
• 6:50
Speaker 5: they were struggling, and you know, it was like almost
• 6:53
Speaker 5: one on one type of situations.
• 6:55
Speaker 2: Every time the ball got on their end of the court.
• 6:58
Speaker 7: Well as it helped and we picked. You know, our
• 7:02
Speaker 7: post player usually doesn't really guard the other team's post player.
• 7:07
Speaker 7: She kind of just plays in the lane. And if
• 7:10
Speaker 7: that girl's not making shots, it makes our defense look
• 7:12
Speaker 7: a lot better. When she could just stand in there
• 7:15
Speaker 7: and that just happened to be that day that girl
• 7:19
Speaker 7: didn't make any shots, so she could stand there and
• 7:21
Speaker 7: she was helping every time those girls would get to
• 7:24
Speaker 7: the lane, just clogging everything up.
• 7:26
Speaker 9: And speaking of that postplayer, I believe her first name
• 7:28
Speaker 9: is Ali, number thirty four. I mean, she has such
• 7:31
Speaker 9: a Daniels, Ali Daniels. She has such a great game.
• 7:35
Speaker 9: I mean, to me, she was the MVP. I mean,
• 7:37
Speaker 9: I believe she had a double double. I mean she
• 7:40
Speaker 9: was making shots, she was getting rebounds, she was passing
• 7:43
Speaker 9: the ball, setting screens, she was doing just a little
• 7:46
Speaker 9: bit of everything for you guys on Sunday. So could
• 7:49
Speaker 9: you just tell us a little bit more about her.
• 7:52
  Speaker 7: Well, she's a double double Machine's she's got over a
• 7:56
Speaker 7: thousand points and a thousand rebounds in our skin four years.
• 8:00
Speaker 7: And that's you know, no man in our school has
• 8:02
Speaker 7: ever done that, and that's really a huge accomplishment. And uh,
• 8:06
Speaker 7: it's just every game she's a rebounding machine. She may
• 8:09
Speaker 7: not always get double points, but her rebounds are. She's
• 8:11
Speaker 7: had twenty five this year, maybe twice, and wow, it's
• 8:15
Speaker 7: every night of its every night's double double in rebounds.
• 8:17
  Speaker 2: And I know.
• 8:18
Speaker 9: That's one thing that we've talked about and watching specifically
• 8:21
Speaker 9: women's basketball over the past year is just that I
• 8:25
Speaker 9: love it because it's not always pretty, but it's always gritty.
• 8:30
Speaker 9: Women's basketball, to me is just what it just looks
• 8:34
Speaker 9: like the basketball at least that I grew up with.
• 8:36
Speaker 9: And you girls are scraping there. They're they're really, for
• 8:39
Speaker 9: lack of better words, going hard in the paint.
• 8:43
Speaker 7: Well that's what we're hoping it is. Anyway. I like
• 8:45
Speaker 7: the basketball old. I'm not such a big fan of
• 8:47
Speaker 7: this new basketball they've set up there. Just chuck up
• 8:50
  Speaker 7: threes all day.
• 8:51
Speaker 5: I'm not in a yeah, and for me and for
• 8:54
Speaker 5: me not to be a basketball player or even really
• 8:57
  Speaker 5: necessarily a great basketball fan, I can't watch men's basketball
• 9:03
  Speaker 5: because they're just shooting. And I loved like, I'm I'm
• 9:07
Speaker 5: nudgeing Hollys all the whole game, just like, hey, did
• 9:10
Speaker 5: you see that? Because it was just like what I
• 9:13
Speaker 5: love about it. What I absolutely love about.
• 9:15
Speaker 2: The women's game is they go hard from beginning to end.
• 9:22
Speaker 7: And one thing about our team, we do go hard.
• 9:25
Speaker 7: It starts with Sophie Hutchinson. She is like, you know,
• 9:28
Speaker 7: a Tasmanian devil up there. She goes hard the whole
• 9:30
Speaker 7: game and gets everybody else scored.
• 9:33
Speaker 2: That's amazing anybody got anything.
• 9:35
Speaker 8: I was just gonna say so, so, coach, how did
• 9:37
Speaker 8: you guys celebrate the big win as a team.
• 9:40
Speaker 6: Did you guys do anything special?
• 9:43
Speaker 7: Well, we never won once. Were we really didn't have
• 9:45
  Speaker 7: to celebrate, and.
• 9:50
  Speaker 6: I like it.
• 9:50
Speaker 7: I mean we stopped and got something that we you know,
• 9:53
Speaker 7: we haven't really done anything big yet. We're up here,
• 9:55
Speaker 7: our boys are playing the night record. Okay, she'll probably
• 10:01
Speaker 7: have a big cilbrace somewhere.
• 10:02
Speaker 9: And speaking of that, I mean, you guys could probably
• 10:04
Speaker 9: have a County celebration because not only does Spring Valley win,
• 10:08
Speaker 9: but Wayne, when I believe the double A championship, so
• 10:10
Speaker 9: you guys the three.
• 10:13
Speaker 2: A championship, you want the quality championship.
• 10:15
Speaker 5: You guys did a clean so you might have a
• 10:18
Speaker 5: joint parade with everybody.
• 10:19
Speaker 2: The boys went out crazy.
• 10:21
Speaker 7: Yeah, Wayne, County is celebrating this week.
• 10:25
Speaker 5: Because we just wanted to reach out to you, just
• 10:28
Speaker 5: give you your props and just to celebrate it. So
• 10:31
Speaker 5: we appreciate you coming on and we'll be in touch
• 10:35
  Speaker 5: with you again.
• 10:35
  Speaker 2: I'm sure.
• 10:36
Speaker 5: Well I appreciate that, all right, Guys, like, at least
• 10:45
Speaker 5: I'm going to say this since you didn't get to
• 10:47
  Speaker 5: see the game.
• 10:50
  Speaker 2: I was like, I.
• 10:51
Speaker 5: Felt like a kid, Like I felt like maybe like
• 10:54
Speaker 5: I was at a super Bowl or something like that.
• 10:56
Speaker 5: Like I was like like totally enjoying what I was watching.
• 11:00
Speaker 5: I mean, it was it just it like opened my eyes.
• 11:04
Speaker 5: And I don't know, Hollis is probably comfortable with it.
• 11:06
Speaker 5: He's probably used to it. He goes to more games
• 11:09
Speaker 5: than probably that I do. But I was, I was.
• 11:12
Speaker 2: Totally impressed with them.
• 11:13
Speaker 9: I mean, the women's game to me is just like
• 11:16
  Speaker 9: it's just I think we're at a space now where
• 11:19
Speaker 9: we can really appreciate it, and I think that it's
• 11:22
Speaker 9: separated itself from the men's game. Again, when I say that,
• 11:25
Speaker 9: I don't necessarily mean good or worse. I just mean
• 11:27
  Speaker 9: it's a different game. It's not women's basketball, women's sports
• 11:31
Speaker 9: in general. They are no longer trying to mimic the men.
• 11:35
Speaker 9: They're they're in into themselves. They have their brand, in
• 11:38
Speaker 9: their brand, in their lane, and they're playing their game.
• 11:41
Speaker 9: So it's definitely something that I enjoy at all of them.
• 11:44
  Speaker 6: And it's refreshing.
• 11:45
Speaker 8: It's not something that you see, like you said, with
• 11:47
Speaker 8: the men's basketball, you know, the NBA and their style
• 11:50
Speaker 8: of play, it's not, you know, so much the emphasis
• 11:54
Speaker 8: on the three pointer. It's about the teamwork, the passing,
• 11:57
Speaker 8: the whole, you know, just the year planning that goes
• 12:01
Speaker 8: into the place from the coach and from the girls.
• 12:04
Speaker 8: I mean, it's not just go out there and throw
• 12:05
Speaker 8: up three pointers and see what happens.
• 12:07
Speaker 5: And you look at you know, you look at the
• 12:10
Speaker 5: three point shot as the new normal shot.
• 12:14
Speaker 2: Right, these girls worked, they didn't work.
• 12:19
Speaker 5: You know, you can just stand out there by the
• 12:21
Speaker 5: three point like they're cutting to the basket and and
• 12:23
Speaker 5: and getting passes, layups and all of that.
• 12:27
Speaker 2: That's old school basketball.
• 12:29
Speaker 6: And that's designed play.
• 12:31
Speaker 5: It's a design play. It's like you gotta play. Do
• 12:34
Speaker 5: you even think that in the NBA there's actually a
• 12:38
Speaker 5: play can get all the way through?
• 12:40
Speaker 9: I would say so, and and just and again I
• 12:42
Speaker 9: wouldn't necessarily even call it. I know we're saying old school,
• 12:45
  Speaker 9: but I just it's just like it's just watchable. It's
• 12:47
Speaker 9: just to the viewers, it's a better watchable game than
• 12:51
Speaker 9: I think what's being presented at some different line.
• 12:53
Speaker 6: Requires more discipline too, don't you a.
• 12:55
Speaker 9: Little bit more? Like I said, this is a total
• 12:57
Speaker 9: team thing. It's it's it's a team and ya right right?
• 13:01
Speaker 2: I like that lista.
• 13:02
Speaker 5: I like that term discipline because when you call us,
• 13:05
Speaker 5: when you're talking about like teamwork, that discipline has to
• 13:09
Speaker 5: come into teamwork because the moment that you get in
• 13:11
Speaker 5: your own in your own lane, you're taking the shot,
• 13:15
Speaker 5: I'm not passing it, I'm not finishing the play. I'm
• 13:18
Speaker 5: just gonna take my shot every time I get.
• 13:19
Speaker 2: The ball, you know. So, So all right, so I have.
• 13:27
Speaker 6: That right. It's been an interesting week in West Virginia.
• 13:31
  Speaker 2: Yes it has.
• 13:31
Speaker 9: Okay, So well let's set it up because, for those
• 13:34
Speaker 9: who don't know West Virginia WVU men's basketball, the pick
• 13:40
Speaker 9: the tournament teams were picked on selection Sunday, and WVU
• 13:44
Speaker 9: and a lot of people's mind got snubbed for UNC
• 13:48
Speaker 9: Tar Hills. So again WVU didn't make the tournament. They've
• 13:52
  Speaker 9: getting invited to the n I t they didn't choose
• 13:55
Speaker 9: to go. So I'll and I'll kick it off from there.
• 13:57
  Speaker 2: All right.
• 13:58
Speaker 5: First, I'm again I'm gonna I'm gonna touch turning down
• 14:03
  Speaker 5: any post season.
• 14:06
Speaker 2: Well, yeah, we'll talk about that later. Let's getta talk
• 14:09
  Speaker 2: to the beat.
• 14:09
  Speaker 6: First.
• 14:10
Speaker 2: You gonna play the cliff, Yeah to click. All right,
• 14:13
Speaker 2: let's play the clip and then we'll come back. Yeah.
• 14:15
Speaker 10: In all seriousness, Uh, it's embarrassing for an elected official
• 14:20
Speaker 10: to take the position that he's taken, you know, literally
• 14:23
Speaker 10: calling for an investigation. You could complain, and he has
• 14:26
Speaker 10: legitimacy with his complaints, but to go this far and
• 14:29
Speaker 10: to really really try to force an investigation, it's utterly ridiculous.
• 14:34
Speaker 10: It's childish, and you would like to think our elected
• 14:35
Speaker 10: officials have something better to do with their time on
• 14:38
Speaker 10: behalf of their consent they don't see than something of
• 14:41
Speaker 10: this magnitude. Clearly he does not. The bottom line is
• 14:44
Speaker 10: they were nineteen and thirteen, they were ten and ten
• 14:46
Speaker 10: in their own conference, and when they went into the
• 14:49
Speaker 10: Big twelve tournament, they lost the very first game of
• 14:52
Speaker 10: the tournament to last place Colorado. You know, there there
• 14:57
Speaker 10: is is a rare occasion when it is justified to
• 15:00
Speaker 10: tell a politician sit your ass down. This is one
• 15:04
Speaker 10: of those situations. Sit your ass down. This is not
• 15:07
Speaker 10: something at warrant an investigation.
• 15:10
Speaker 9: All right, Oh, that's a lot. Okay, So what do
• 15:14
Speaker 9: you want to start with. I don't know where to.
• 15:16
Speaker 6: Let's start with the actual press conference, because let's just
• 15:20
  Speaker 6: picture this.
• 15:21
Speaker 8: And I don't know if people actually saw the press conference,
• 15:24
Speaker 8: but there was a sign on the podium that literally
• 15:27
Speaker 8: said National Corrupt Athletic Association. Yes, this was the part
• 15:34
Speaker 8: of their news conference, Pat moo and the AG McCuskey,
• 15:39
Speaker 8: and basically what they said it was. And I'm not
• 15:42
Speaker 8: making judgment. I'm stating facts right now. Okay, no judgment,
• 15:46
Speaker 8: no judgment. Okay, try not to judge anyway. But it
• 15:49
Speaker 8: was almost like out of a dramatic play, the things
• 15:53
Speaker 8: that Morris that came out of Patrick or not Patrick
• 15:57
Speaker 8: Patrick Morrisey's mouth, the things he said. This is this
• 15:59
Speaker 8: is an actual verbatim quote, okay, part of the part
• 16:03
Speaker 8: of the presser. West Virginia deserved to be in attorney
• 16:06
Speaker 8: and this was a miscarriage of justice and robbery at
• 16:09
Speaker 8: the highest levels. Yeah, okay. They stopped short of saying
• 16:15
Speaker 8: they would foul an actual law suit, but they were
• 16:19
Speaker 8: asking for information. That's what Stephen A. Smith is referring to.
• 16:23
Speaker 8: And what do you guys think.
• 16:25
Speaker 5: Well, okay, so here's the thing, all right, Now again
• 16:30
Speaker 5: I think that serious and again serious, WU we could
• 16:36
Speaker 5: it's it's a debatable question as to whether they deserve
• 16:40
Speaker 5: that slot over the Tar Hills in light of the
• 16:44
Speaker 5: ad of the Tar Hills being on the selection committee,
• 16:46
Speaker 5: which I will talk about later. That's a problematic in
• 16:48
Speaker 5: and so again, so again, you as the head of state, you,
• 16:53
Speaker 5: as the head of the governor of the state of
• 16:54
Speaker 5: West Virginia. He should have said he was disappointed, He
• 16:59
Speaker 5: should have should have said all the things that somebody
• 17:03
Speaker 5: in his position should say in this circumstances. Now you
• 17:07
Speaker 5: calling a press conference, you quote unquote launching an investigation
• 17:13
Speaker 5: in light of all the plethor problems that the State
• 17:18
Speaker 5: of West Virginia currently faces.
• 17:21
Speaker 6: Is it's not it's not just make a tweet. Do
• 17:31
Speaker 6: you even have to do that?
• 17:32
Speaker 2: I think you do? You definitely do do you definitely?
• 17:35
Speaker 8: Do you remember other governors ever doing We've been left
• 17:39
Speaker 8: out of tournaments, Marshall or WBU.
• 17:41
Speaker 6: And it's happened in the past. It's not anything new.
• 17:44
  Speaker 6: I mean, it's happened.
• 17:45
Speaker 5: You're right, But if to the point, if you decide
• 17:48
Speaker 5: you're going to say something, yeah, right to me, like
• 17:55
Speaker 5: state Fox that are that are unquestionable. Look at your record,
• 18:03
Speaker 5: look at look at the numbers.
• 18:05
Speaker 2: Right now, again, I get the whole North Carolina.
• 18:10
Speaker 5: You got to coach on the on the selection committee,
• 18:12
Speaker 5: blah blah blah blah, all that kind of stuff.
• 18:13
Speaker 2: But really, like, why would you come out like why
• 18:17
  Speaker 2: would you?
• 18:18
Speaker 5: I would want to say I'm disappointed because we did
• 18:21
Speaker 5: not we were not part of and and leave it
• 18:25
  Speaker 5: at that.
• 18:26
Speaker 9: What investigation are you going to do? And that's the part.
• 18:29
Speaker 9: It's great politics. So you come out and you say, oh,
• 18:31
Speaker 9: I'm disappointed we should have got in. This is unfair.
• 18:33
Speaker 9: And again I've had my criticisms, went n Cuba, I've
• 18:37
Speaker 9: had my criticism. Everybody has right, but you don't go that.
• 18:43
Speaker 9: You're talking about lawsuits, investigations. We got stuff we need
• 18:46
Speaker 9: to handle here. We ain't got time for that.
• 18:48
  Speaker 2: Right now.
• 18:49
Speaker 9: You come out, you say what you got to say,
• 18:50
Speaker 9: then you move bout today or heck, you ain't even
• 18:52
Speaker 9: got to say that, make a tweet and move on.
• 18:55
Speaker 6: I mean, and let's be factual about this part too.
• 18:57
  Speaker 6: And Stephen A.
• 18:58
Speaker 8: Smith emphasize this and I agree with him totally on
• 19:00
Speaker 8: this part. I mean, I do feel like there were
• 19:02
Speaker 8: the quad wins when you know the comparison and quad
• 19:05
Speaker 8: winds are basically when you beat a ranked team and
• 19:08
Speaker 8: you get so and some people may not know That's
• 19:10
Speaker 8: why I'm throwing it out there, but you get so
• 19:12
Speaker 8: many points for if you beat the team at home
• 19:14
Speaker 8: or if you beat them on a neutral court, which
• 19:16
Speaker 8: I didn't realize this, and there's differences in point points
• 19:19
  Speaker 8: given for.
• 19:20
Speaker 6: Where they play where they achieved the victory.
• 19:22
Speaker 8: But what I'm saying is I know that there were
• 19:24
Speaker 8: differences large that there were huge discrepancies between the quad
• 19:28
Speaker 8: wins with North Carolina and West Virginia. I think North
• 19:31
Speaker 8: Carolina only had like one in West Virginia had like
• 19:34
Speaker 8: six out of ten.
• 19:35
  Speaker 6: I get that.
• 19:35
Speaker 8: But the dagger that the dagger in everything was when
• 19:39
Speaker 8: they went to the Big twelve tournament. They had a
• 19:41
Speaker 8: buy and they lose to the last place team. You
• 19:46
Speaker 8: just don't do that, especially when you're a Targill.
• 19:48
Speaker 2: But the tar Hills didn't win that tournament.
• 19:50
Speaker 9: The Duke, yeah, they lost like the first did they
• 19:54
Speaker 9: make the championship game?
• 19:55
Speaker 6: I think I don't know how far they got. They
• 19:57
Speaker 6: did lose. The Duke won it didn't when no win.
• 20:02
Speaker 8: Okay, so that's a difference, like they they West Virginia
• 20:05
Speaker 8: lost in Colorado. I mean that that is that's and
• 20:08
Speaker 8: plus the way they were playing at the end of
• 20:09
Speaker 8: the season was not stellar. I mean they were losing
• 20:11
Speaker 8: games and they just didn't look like the same team
• 20:13
Speaker 8: as they did at.
• 20:14
Speaker 6: The beginning of the year when they were beating quad teams.
• 20:16
Speaker 5: Let me, let me, let me, let me ask this question. Okay,
• 20:21
Speaker 5: Let's just say that he is. Everything that he's stating
• 20:24
  Speaker 5: is correct.
• 20:26
  Speaker 2: Okay.
• 20:26
Speaker 5: Everything that he's saying the coach for w U is
• 20:29
Speaker 5: but everything that he's saying somebody, the governor, I mean
• 20:31
  Speaker 5: the governor government.
• 20:32
  Speaker 2: Okay.
• 20:33
Speaker 5: Everything that the governor is saying is legit. Okay, it's
• 20:38
Speaker 5: legit and it's and it's meaningful.
• 20:41
Speaker 2: The question I ask is when has it, like when where.
• 20:45
Speaker 5: What prompted you to think that this would be something
• 20:48
Speaker 5: that you should come out with and see. I'd be
• 20:51
Speaker 5: okay if the if the coach said it, I'd be
• 20:56
  Speaker 5: okay if.
• 20:57
Speaker 9: They said, here's the thing, though, what he said is
• 21:02
Speaker 9: gonna have legs with some people. In light of the
• 21:07
Speaker 9: North Carolina tar Hills, a d being on the selection committee.
• 21:12
  Speaker 6: And and and.
• 21:14
Speaker 9: Receiving a bonus for them getting in and them getting
• 21:17
Speaker 9: in directly over w You see, I'm saying like he's
• 21:21
Speaker 9: playing politics here because some people are gonna that he's
• 21:24
Speaker 9: talking to his base. He's not talking to necessarily me
• 21:27
Speaker 9: and you, because talking to his base and his base
• 21:29
Speaker 9: is gonna cheer that on, particularly when they find out
• 21:33
Speaker 9: that the u n c's AD is in network quote
• 21:36
Speaker 9: unquote in the room, out the room. And that brings
• 21:39
Speaker 9: me to my other point. Why are ads on the
• 21:44
Speaker 9: selection committy? And what I'm saying you give credence to
• 21:48
Speaker 9: everything he just said in some people's mind, Why why
• 21:51
Speaker 9: isn't there a selection committee? Third party non ex excuse me, directly,
• 21:57
Speaker 9: non affiliate because you might be an alumni somewhere, but
• 21:59
Speaker 9: you're not currently affiliated in a significant manner with the
• 22:03
Speaker 9: athletic program that can currently get in or get out
• 22:05
Speaker 9: of the tournament. It should be a total board, a
• 22:08
Speaker 9: body that's no affiliated directly because everything he said is
• 22:13
Speaker 9: some people's mind is gonna be like he is one
• 22:15
  Speaker 9: hundred percent right.
• 22:16
Speaker 8: But the next question is, and I think you're right,
• 22:19
Speaker 8: but I mean the next question is who would be
• 22:21
Speaker 8: on the committee who would you bring in to judge
• 22:25
Speaker 8: who gets in the tournament, because then they're going to argue, well,
• 22:27
Speaker 8: they don't know what they're talking about.
• 22:28
Speaker 2: They're not former players, former coaches, just.
• 22:32
Speaker 6: But they're still you're still alumni.
• 22:34
Speaker 9: Saying somebody who's not actively getting paid. Yeah, okay, you
• 22:38
Speaker 9: know what I'm saying.
• 22:39
Speaker 2: And what's interesting to me about this and and my
• 22:42
Speaker 2: argument with most of these.
• 22:44
Speaker 5: Sports decision making processes, you don't know who's on the board,
• 22:49
Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying, Like, in most cases, you
• 22:51
  Speaker 5: don't even know who's actually.
• 22:54
Speaker 2: On these boards who are making these decisions.
• 22:57
Speaker 5: I think, and again, I would want an open I'd
• 23:02
Speaker 5: want to know who's on the board, who's making these votes,
• 23:05
Speaker 5: who's gonna make these decisions.
• 23:07
Speaker 9: Well, I think I think college football does it good
• 23:10
Speaker 9: because we know who's on the board, and they start
• 23:12
Speaker 9: having these discussions the seasons winding. Now to your point,
• 23:17
Speaker 9: it needs to be an open process and we need
• 23:19
Speaker 9: to start tracking like, Okay, this week is this week,
• 23:22
Speaker 9: this week is this discussion, this week that week, and
• 23:25
Speaker 9: we can go from at least the middle of the
• 23:27
Speaker 9: season all the way to selection Sunday to we already
• 23:31
Speaker 9: kind of have an idea of how they're thinking about it. Well,
• 23:33
Speaker 9: I was gonna say yes to your to your point,
• 23:35
Speaker 9: I think, as you look at this, this should be
• 23:39
Speaker 9: something that everybody it's kind of almost visible who's gonna
• 23:43
Speaker 9: be picked because of this, Because.
• 23:45
Speaker 5: Of that they won this game, they lost this game,
• 23:47
Speaker 5: they're gonna be out. I think everybody ought to be
• 23:50
Speaker 5: able to sit and at home if you choose to
• 23:54
Speaker 5: follow your team and then try to figure out, Okay,
• 23:57
Speaker 5: they're not gonna get.
• 23:58
Speaker 2: In what they gonna get it.
• 23:59
Speaker 9: I think I think we kind of got that with
• 24:01
Speaker 9: the quad ones and all that sort of thing. The
• 24:04
Speaker 9: problem is is that the people in the room are
• 24:07
Speaker 9: too tied to the teams that can be chosen or not.
• 24:10
Speaker 9: You don't need to be the ad of making decision.
• 24:14
Speaker 9: You don't need to be ad of a university making
• 24:16
  Speaker 9: a decision. You don't.
• 24:18
Speaker 8: I totally agree with that, but also you need to
• 24:20
Speaker 8: It's kind of like what we've talked about before. You
• 24:22
Speaker 8: don't let referees win or lose a game for you.
• 24:25
Speaker 8: You basically need to go out there and win a
• 24:28
Speaker 8: couple of games in the Big twelve.
• 24:29
  Speaker 6: And they're in.
• 24:29
Speaker 8: I mean, they kind of had their own fate in
• 24:31
Speaker 8: their hands. I mean, they shouldn't have come down to
• 24:34
Speaker 8: whether or not North Carolina had more quad wins or
• 24:37
Speaker 8: less wins or they're you know, if they would have
• 24:39
Speaker 8: put a better body of work out there, maybe winning
• 24:42
Speaker 8: at least I guarantee if they'd won at least two
• 24:45
Speaker 8: of the Big twelve check conference championship games, they would
• 24:48
Speaker 8: have been in hands down.
• 24:49
Speaker 9: But some people would say in spite of that, they
• 24:52
Speaker 9: still had a better resume than U and C.
• 24:54
Speaker 2: Some people would argue.
• 24:55
Speaker 8: Well, and then the other argument was that the injury
• 24:58
Speaker 8: to the one player, Oh shoot our son, I think
• 25:04
Speaker 8: he's been out. Yeah, So that that was something that
• 25:07
Speaker 8: they threw into the mix as well, saying well he's
• 25:10
Speaker 8: out hurt, and that changed the whole dynamic of the team.
• 25:13
  Speaker 6: So, I don't know. I mean, it's just it's so complex,
• 25:17
Speaker 6: there's so many layers to this.
• 25:18
Speaker 8: It's it's just been great and then they end up losing,
• 25:21
Speaker 8: they end up losing their coach, well and Andiana, so
• 25:25
  Speaker 8: that the other.
• 25:26
Speaker 2: Yeah, Hollid, I'm gonna ask you this question.
• 25:30
Speaker 5: In these types of whether it's whether it's tournament stuff,
• 25:35
Speaker 5: all star stuff, shouldn't it be shouldn't every pick, every
• 25:42
Speaker 5: decision be something that the public should see, should hear,
• 25:47
Speaker 5: should know you should hear the conversation between someone somewhere,
• 25:51
Speaker 5: some form of the conversation, some form of who voted
• 25:55
Speaker 5: for who you see.
• 25:57
Speaker 2: I'm saying like like.
• 25:58
Speaker 5: Like it's it seems like we accountability, accountability for these
• 26:03
Speaker 5: decisions that people are making, especially when it's judgmental.
• 26:06
Speaker 9: Yes, is like the legislative. If you want to, you
• 26:08
Speaker 9: can see all our votes. You can see exactly how
• 26:10
Speaker 9: we voted on everything. So yes, to answer your question,
• 26:13
Speaker 9: one hundred percent, it should one hundred percent be like that.
• 26:17
Speaker 9: And I would add to what you're saying, it also
• 26:19
Speaker 9: should be individuals who are reasonably objective, who aren't directly tied.
• 26:25
Speaker 2: To a specific school.
• 26:27
  Speaker 6: So should.
• 26:30
Speaker 9: Definitely a record like you voted for this team, you
• 26:33
Speaker 9: voted for that team. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right, you're right.
• 26:36
Speaker 5: And and to to your point, like if if there's
• 26:39
Speaker 5: a record, and every time I voted for Marshall, you.
• 26:43
Speaker 2: Can't, you can't be on the committee.
• 26:45
  Speaker 6: You can't, you're off, you're out.
• 26:47
Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
• 26:47
  Speaker 5: And I think that I think that there's a reality
• 26:50
Speaker 5: to that of you kind of gotta you kind of
• 26:53
Speaker 5: gotta get folks that are unaffiliated with.
• 27:00
  Speaker 6: Schools.
• 27:00
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 27:00
Speaker 9: But but but even to your point, even if you're
• 27:04
Speaker 9: not unaffiliated, and we can clearly see your voting record,
• 27:07
Speaker 9: particularly if you've been on this door for you know,
• 27:09
Speaker 9: five years or whatever, we clearly see your pattern of voting,
• 27:12
Speaker 9: then we we then we know how you are thinking
• 27:15
  Speaker 9: the Yeah.
• 27:17
Speaker 5: And to that point, how many times was your team
• 27:20
Speaker 5: in there and you didn't vote for them? I think
• 27:22
Speaker 5: that's that's true, you know, cause you you you know,
• 27:25
Speaker 5: if my team ain't in there, I can be good.
• 27:27
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 27:27
Speaker 9: But and then and then he tried to say, like,
• 27:29
Speaker 9: and we're talking about the ad of the Tar Hills.
• 27:31
Speaker 9: He tried to say that, you know, he left the room,
• 27:34
Speaker 9: and I'm like, bro, you can you can whip votes
• 27:36
Speaker 9: that don't really that don't move me.
• 27:38
Speaker 5: I thinking that you're gonna vote. When I come back in,
• 27:41
Speaker 5: I'm like looking at you, like are we good?
• 27:44
Speaker 6: That was at our text conversation. You said, you know
• 27:47
Speaker 6: he could whip the vote.
• 27:47
Speaker 8: Now I said, he's whipping all the way to the
• 27:49
Speaker 8: bank now with that bonus he got. But yeah, it's
• 27:53
  Speaker 8: just that's been a complex I don't know's there's so
• 27:55
Speaker 8: many facets to this, and I guess then the question
• 27:59
Speaker 8: now is do you think how bears coming back?
• 28:01
Speaker 9: That's the question because I know Wu's coach went to Indiana.
• 28:04
Speaker 9: That's a dream job. You can't turn it down. So
• 28:06
Speaker 9: I don't think anybody can begrudge him for doing that.
• 28:09
  Speaker 9: I think people are I don't see how. I mean,
• 28:12
  Speaker 9: he's a mid West guy.
• 28:13
Speaker 6: Well, I think not just that part of it.
• 28:15
Speaker 8: I think that they feel like maybe he's had leanings
• 28:18
Speaker 8: of leaving all season long, and that maybe you know,
• 28:21
Speaker 8: he red shirted his son knowing that he's going to
• 28:23
Speaker 8: be going to Indiana or I think it was Iowa at.
• 28:26
Speaker 2: One point, right, Yeah, I think he's from Iowa. Yeah, yeah,
• 28:29
  Speaker 2: I don't like. I don't like how all that sounds.
• 28:31
Speaker 6: But yeah, you gotta go. I mean, yeah, yeah, you know,
• 28:34
Speaker 6: it is what it is.
• 28:35
Speaker 9: But it's like, if you get a chance to coach
• 28:37
Speaker 9: Notre Dame or USC you're a football guy, you got
• 28:40
Speaker 9: to you got to go.
• 28:41
Speaker 8: But I think that's why, you know, the joke on
• 28:44
Speaker 8: on social media has been you got you got huffed.
• 28:47
Speaker 8: Oh sorry, you got huffed, because that's what happened to Marshall. Basically,
• 28:50
Speaker 8: you know he left for a job that you know
• 28:52
Speaker 8: he felt like would be better.
• 28:53
Speaker 2: He didn't have the success of huffing.
• 28:55
Speaker 6: No, no, You're all right, ladies.
• 28:57
Speaker 2: We're gonna take a quick break and we'll be right back.
• 29:00
Speaker 11: Let's face it, bad things happen to good people seriously
• 29:03
Speaker 11: injured in a car accident, trucking accident, or even wrongfully arrested.
• 29:07
Speaker 11: Life happens, and when it happens to you, you will
• 29:09
Speaker 11: need sound legal advice and aggressive representation. That's when you
• 29:12
Speaker 11: call Attorney Frank Walker at three zero four four one

• 29:59
Speaker 2: Now, all right, so I have made it very clear for.
• 30:08
Speaker 5: Every opportunity I've had to be on radio, television, interview
• 30:14
Speaker 5: or whatever, I am.
• 30:17
Speaker 2: I am not a Kirk Cousins fan.
• 30:19
  Speaker 6: He's a hater.
• 30:22
Speaker 5: Somebody actually might actually feel that I am actually a hater.
• 30:27
Speaker 2: Okay, I don't really want to consider myself a hater.
• 30:30
Speaker 5: But I've seen this on on Facebook the other day,
• 30:37
Speaker 5: and it's the pay that Kirk Cousins has has made
• 30:43
Speaker 5: over his career, and they say it is comparable to
• 30:51
Speaker 5: Tom Brady more it may it may be more.
• 30:56
Speaker 9: He's got a guarantee and it's in Kirk cousins career.
• 30:59
  Speaker 9: I believe it's a guaranteed money. This isn't outside, but
• 31:03
Speaker 9: it's just just guarantee.
• 31:05
Speaker 2: Go ahead and read. You got it.
• 31:05
Speaker 5: Okay, you got it. So twenty twelve, give us the total, Well,
• 31:10
Speaker 5: I'm gonna give you that. I'm gonna give you the total.
• 31:13
Speaker 5: He had a four year rookie deal. They didn't specify
• 31:15
Speaker 5: how much that was. Okay, Okay, twenty sixteen nineteen point
• 31:21
Speaker 5: nine million fully guaranteed.
• 31:24
Speaker 2: Yeah, we're just talking guaranteed money.
• 31:26
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, twenty or twenty seventeen, twenty three point nine
• 31:32
Speaker 5: fully guaranteed. Now this is from sixteen to seventeen, all
• 31:37
Speaker 5: right now, eighteen eighty four million fully guaranteed, twenty twenty
• 31:47
Speaker 5: sixty six fully guaranteed, twenty twenty two, thirty five.
• 31:56
  Speaker 6: Fully guaranteed, unbelievable.
• 31:59
Speaker 5: Twenty two, twenty four, one hundred and fifty with one
• 32:02
  Speaker 5: hundred fully guaranteed.
• 32:05
Speaker 2: And he just got ten million last week.
• 32:07
Speaker 5: That's millions, millions of dollars. What's the total career forty
• 32:13
Speaker 5: one million through twenty twenty seven, three hundred and twenty
• 32:18
Speaker 5: nine of that has been fully guaranteed for three hundred
• 32:21
Speaker 5: and twenty nine million, And I think you got to
• 32:23
Speaker 5: add ten on to that because yeah.
• 32:26
  Speaker 8: He's got a brother, he's got an agent, he's got
• 32:28
Speaker 8: like an Inny given Sunday, Tom Cruise shoving the money agent.
• 32:32
Speaker 2: So what's the caveat what's the caveat to all that that?
• 32:36
Speaker 2: Tom Braden? No, No, no, what's the caveat to all that?
• 32:38
  Speaker 2: He won?
• 32:39
  Speaker 11: What?
• 32:39
Speaker 2: How many playoff games? One? How many Super Bowls?
• 32:42
  Speaker 4: None?
• 32:43
Speaker 2: How many conference championships.
• 32:45
Speaker 5: None, Player of the Year none, Tom rated quarterback. No,
• 32:54
Speaker 5: he won one playoff game and he got a guarantee?
• 32:58
Speaker 5: Is a three hundred and plus one?
• 33:00
Speaker 6: What in the world? How is this possible? How is
• 33:02
  Speaker 6: it possible?
• 33:03
Speaker 2: I want to make it clear. Lease do that. I've
• 33:08
Speaker 2: played a very long time.
• 33:10
Speaker 9: See that's what he went back pay, that's what he
• 33:15
Speaker 9: want playing the game.
• 33:17
Speaker 5: And and and I'm and I'm looking at a dude who.
• 33:24
  Speaker 2: Can't take his team. He can't. He's not a.
• 33:29
Speaker 6: He's with the Falcons right now, right, Yeah, Okay.
• 33:32
Speaker 9: They were looking to moving before they for the guaranteed
• 33:35
Speaker 9: kicked in, for the bonus kicked in, they had to
• 33:37
Speaker 9: pay him the ten and I think they're still gonna
• 33:39
  Speaker 9: end up trading.
• 33:40
Speaker 5: My question is is why what did you see? Filmwork
• 33:45
Speaker 5: is a major thing in professional sports.
• 33:49
Speaker 2: Who's not looking at the field because but I'll tell
• 33:51
Speaker 2: you this why. Here's why. Here's what's telling me. Here's why.
• 33:56
Speaker 9: Number one quarterback is an ever increasingly difficult position to
• 34:00
Speaker 9: play in sports. It is, I believe, and Kirk Cousins
• 34:05
Speaker 9: is serviceable and he's a company guy. You're not going
• 34:10
Speaker 9: to have to worry about Kirk Cousins causing those storm.
• 34:13
Speaker 9: His teammates love him, and he can be a guy
• 34:17
Speaker 9: in spite of whatever he lacks that can just help
• 34:21
Speaker 9: you because he had some winning seasons in there. Again,
• 34:23
Speaker 9: nothing crazy when he's and I'm talking regular seasons, but
• 34:27
Speaker 9: he's a guy who can win small games, come in
• 34:29
Speaker 9: and get you over the hump why you're either developing
• 34:32
Speaker 9: or finding a quarterback. Well, and again, when you look
• 34:36
Speaker 9: at guys like Cam Newton, these aren't good company guys.
• 34:40
Speaker 9: We could throw Cousins out there. He's gonna smiles, got
• 34:43
Speaker 9: the family. He's a company man and that's why he
• 34:47
Speaker 9: has that. And again, timing has been perfect for him too,
• 34:51
Speaker 9: because those spots where he had those good seasons, he
• 34:54
Speaker 9: was able to leverage that for some of them big
• 34:56
Speaker 9: contracts that you just mentioned, leverage it by what win
• 35:00
Speaker 9: in some regular season games.
• 35:01
  Speaker 2: Babe.
• 35:01
Speaker 5: I can remember going in I remember I can remember
• 35:04
Speaker 5: going in for a contract with with with Mike Lynn
• 35:08
Speaker 5: rest his soul, knowing that this is going to be
• 35:11
  Speaker 5: a difficult thing.
• 35:12
Speaker 2: Now I've got I've got some crack, I got some
• 35:14
  Speaker 2: accolades behind me.
• 35:19
Speaker 5: And there was not even like that had nothing to
• 35:22
Speaker 5: do with where he was. That had nothing to do
• 35:25
  Speaker 5: with what.
• 35:25
Speaker 2: It's a different time. You can't pre pay that, yes,
• 35:28
Speaker 2: I can. You can't. You ain't let me did it? Okay? Okay?
• 35:33
Speaker 2: And so I understand.
• 35:35
Speaker 5: I understand the reality of what it, what it takes,
• 35:40
Speaker 5: what it what it takes to get to those kinds
• 35:43
Speaker 5: of money situations for me to get to the money
• 35:47
Speaker 5: that I saw that somebody else was making that I
• 35:49
Speaker 5: felt like I wanted to make. You had to perform,
• 35:53
Speaker 5: and performance for me had to be interceptions, you know,
• 35:58
Speaker 5: getting all conference stuff, all that kind of stuff. All
• 36:01
Speaker 5: those things matter, Okay. And and I'm trying to figure
• 36:06
Speaker 5: out what are they viewing for Kirk Cousins because he's
• 36:12
Speaker 5: got one playoff win. Yeah, and he hasn't been player
• 36:19
Speaker 5: of the year, he hasn't been quarterback of the year.
• 36:23
Speaker 8: I think now they do want to get out of
• 36:25
Speaker 8: the contract, correct, because there's been some controversy.
• 36:28
Speaker 2: I mean, how'd you get in it?
• 36:31
  Speaker 6: I mean, I totally agree with I don't know how
• 36:34
Speaker 6: that even I don't know how.
• 36:36
Speaker 2: I told you how he got in it.
• 36:37
Speaker 9: Again, there's not a lot of good quarterbacks in the
• 36:39
Speaker 9: NFL or on the NFL level. I'll say, there's not
• 36:42
Speaker 9: just a plethor guy. It's not like you can just
• 36:44
Speaker 9: go and just find a guy. This ain't that for
• 36:47
  Speaker 9: that money.
• 36:48
Speaker 5: There's a whole lot of guys who are playing somewhere
• 36:51
Speaker 5: else that that's contract is up that you can throw
• 36:54
Speaker 5: that at and you and you're throwing it as a guarantee.
• 36:57
Speaker 2: And they're going to do him. I don't how can
• 37:01
Speaker 2: you say that because to me, I don't know.
• 37:07
Speaker 9: But he's got you. What I'm saying is like we
• 37:09
Speaker 9: we the one playoff win. Yes, but he's gotten teams
• 37:13
Speaker 9: to the playoffs, and I think that's what they're counting.
• 37:15
Speaker 9: They're looking, Okay, he's pitting us in the mix. He
• 37:17
Speaker 9: winning once we get there. But any's serviceable and we
• 37:21
Speaker 9: talked about that before that. That's part of the resume.
• 37:24
Speaker 9: The playoffs. It doesn't matter if you win.
• 37:26
Speaker 2: Yeah, because it's just not a lot of guys out
• 37:28
Speaker 2: there who can do this.
• 37:30
Speaker 8: Teams like the Falcons, I mean they that's that's their
• 37:32
Speaker 8: goal to make the playoffs, to make a wild card.
• 37:35
Speaker 6: They're not in the mix a lot. Well, it's been
• 37:36
  Speaker 6: a minute.
• 37:37
Speaker 2: I think coach is taking this person. Is he it's personal?
• 37:44
Speaker 5: Maybe maybe because because again I'm trying to think of
• 37:52
Speaker 5: like a number of quarterbacks that well, let's just say this,
• 37:59
Speaker 5: how can he be close to Tom Brady?
• 38:01
  Speaker 2: How is it?
• 38:02
Speaker 5: How could his money money for any for any reason
• 38:06
  Speaker 5: that you all.
• 38:07
Speaker 6: Have made it. He's just got the better agent. I'm
• 38:11
  Speaker 6: telling you.
• 38:11
Speaker 2: I'm trying to figure out, like, what are the g
• 38:13
Speaker 2: got thinking? What are that?
• 38:14
  Speaker 11: What?
• 38:15
Speaker 2: Like? Oh, this is the guy?
• 38:16
Speaker 9: Because i mean, let's look at his record. Right, he's
• 38:18
Speaker 9: twenty fifteen, He's nine and seven with the Commanders. He
• 38:23
Speaker 9: was able to leverage that. Then they go they have
• 38:25
Speaker 9: ninety seven ninety seven, and you got leverage with a
• 38:29
Speaker 9: team who you gotta remember twenty fifteen the Commanders were
• 38:32
Speaker 9: an awful franchise with Snyder and all them. Right, So,
• 38:36
Speaker 9: and he has a couple more mediocre seasons with Washington
• 38:39
Speaker 9: in Minnesota than in twenty nineteen. He's ten and five
• 38:42
Speaker 9: mint with Minnesota. Then twenty twenty two is thirteen and
• 38:46
Speaker 9: four with Minnesota. So I'm saying what he was Remember
• 38:50
Speaker 9: what year was that with Minnesota?
• 38:52
Speaker 5: Of sixteen, nineteen and twenty two, nineteen and twenty two,
• 38:55
Speaker 5: so nineteen, so look at the year after that probably,
• 39:00
Speaker 5: so look at forty six million.
• 39:01
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 39:01
Speaker 5: So what I'm saying, so, is he sixty did he
• 39:06
Speaker 5: improve sixty six million guaranteed?
• 39:08
Speaker 9: No, The answer is no, and I'm not justifying that.
• 39:11
Speaker 9: But what I'm saying is like he had leverage. He
• 39:14
Speaker 9: showed some glimbers of hope and they was like, well, wow,
• 39:18
Speaker 9: maybe we could do something with that. And he made
• 39:21
Speaker 9: the playoffs in twenty twelve, in twenty fifteen, twenty nineteen,
• 39:25
Speaker 9: in twenty twenty two, so he had four playoffs.
• 39:29
  Speaker 2: He seasons.
• 39:30
  Speaker 6: He's not stellar, He's steady.
• 39:32
Speaker 9: He's steady, steady Freddy. Yeah, you know, he's the boy
• 39:35
Speaker 9: next door. He's the guy you can always count on.
• 39:37
Speaker 8: It still blows my mind when you hear the amount
• 39:39
Speaker 8: they had total amounts, but I think different teams probably
• 39:42
  Speaker 8: don't look at what each other's I don't know, it's
• 39:45
Speaker 8: just they don't really look at what they're offering him,
• 39:48
Speaker 8: I guess, and then it all adds up little.
• 39:50
Speaker 6: I mean not none of it's little, but.
• 39:51
Speaker 8: I mean, you know, this amount and this amount, when
• 39:53
Speaker 8: you start looking at it from different aspects and different teams,
• 39:56
Speaker 8: it adds up to a lot.
• 39:58
Speaker 6: So I don't know, he's one in three in the playoffs. See,
• 40:01
  Speaker 6: do you.
• 40:01
Speaker 8: Think that there's any possibility that maybe the Falcons will
• 40:05
Speaker 8: just keep him and like take a cap head.
• 40:07
Speaker 2: No, they got parallel, they got the other kid, they
• 40:09
Speaker 2: got the young cat care.
• 40:10
Speaker 8: So they'll definitely get rid of it because there are
• 40:13
Speaker 8: he's already saying he's not gonna attend into the opposite.
• 40:15
Speaker 9: But the problem is that they may have to eat
• 40:17
Speaker 9: that kind. Like I said, they already eight the ten millions,
• 40:19
Speaker 9: so they may have to eat some more money if
• 40:21
Speaker 9: they think, you know, don't get the trade that they
• 40:23
Speaker 9: want if they're releasing.
• 40:25
Speaker 2: And my question really.
• 40:26
Speaker 6: Is who's gonna take that?
• 40:27
  Speaker 5: That's that's That's where I'm at. Somebody gonna take it.
• 40:30
  Speaker 5: He's gonna be a good backup. I don't think I
• 40:32
Speaker 5: think it's starting days in the NFL are done. Oh no,
• 40:34
Speaker 5: nothink he's done on Henna.
• 40:35
  Speaker 2: He's gonna take.
• 40:36
Speaker 5: I don't see him taking less money because he's not
• 40:40
Speaker 5: gonna it's over. You're gonna have to take less money.
• 40:43
Speaker 5: You ain't getting them bags no more. He already committed.
• 40:46
Speaker 5: How look, you gotta stop. You already robbed enough.
• 40:53
Speaker 8: Off into the sunset To be honest, I mean to
• 40:56
Speaker 8: me and Aaron Rodgers can get horses together.
• 41:01
Speaker 5: I'm glad you brought that up, because literally, those are
• 41:03
Speaker 5: like two quarterbacks that really just.
• 41:06
Speaker 2: Like, hey guys, let's go go get.
• 41:09
Speaker 5: In the booth somewhere and and and ride off into
• 41:13
Speaker 5: the sunset and celebrate your career, you know, announcing. I
• 41:20
Speaker 5: mean even and look and you know, just to defend
• 41:23
Speaker 5: Kirk Cousin, I mean you even look at his playoff record, right,
• 41:26
Speaker 5: I mean it's one in three, but statistically, I mean,
• 41:28
Speaker 5: he had a ninety three QBR, he got five touchdowns,
• 41:33
Speaker 5: the one pick in his player and excuse me, in
• 41:35
Speaker 5: his playoff career, he's sixty six percent passing completion percentage
• 41:40
Speaker 5: thousand yards. I mean, like I'm saying, I think teams again,
• 41:45
Speaker 5: this is the problem with stuff like advanced analytics, because
• 41:48
Speaker 5: they look at all this stuff.
• 41:50
Speaker 9: They're just not looking at the one in three. They're
• 41:52
Speaker 9: looking at Okay, what was his quarterback rating? What was
• 41:54
Speaker 9: his touchdown interception? They're looking at all these look yeah,
• 41:59
Speaker 9: they're looking at all these.
• 42:00
Speaker 5: Little nuanced stats and saying sixty six million equals sixty
• 42:05
  Speaker 5: six million.
• 42:05
Speaker 6: Somebody needs to make me a statue.
• 42:08
Speaker 5: See my thing to that is it's like, okay, so
• 42:11
Speaker 5: you you you look at all the analytics and you
• 42:13
Speaker 5: you know all the facts, right, yeah, there is no
• 42:17
Speaker 5: bigger there is no bigger stat than winning loss.
• 42:22
Speaker 2: You're right about that. But they consider everything else now.
• 42:25
Speaker 6: Not now, Yeah, they consider all that.
• 42:27
Speaker 2: Other stuff because they're not just looking at the main.
• 42:31
Speaker 8: Thing when the combine rolls around, they're looking at all
• 42:33
Speaker 8: the different It's not just one aspect of a player.
• 42:36
Speaker 8: They analyze all the whole athletic package. Now it's it's
• 42:40
  Speaker 8: it's amazing.
• 42:41
Speaker 9: Yeah, but let me ask you that, do you think
• 42:44
Speaker 9: the combine is still worth it now considering that we
• 42:48
Speaker 9: got like because back in the day, like when you
• 42:50
Speaker 9: were gearing up for it, there might there may have
• 42:53
Speaker 9: been teams that didn't have a whole bunch of tape
• 42:55
Speaker 9: on you right right, But now like we can pretty
• 42:57
Speaker 9: much you could just pull up every single game it's
• 42:59
Speaker 9: probably been paid playing in the last ten years.
• 43:02
  Speaker 2: If you're yeah, yeah, if you're a.
• 43:03
Speaker 9: Player, do you even need to like, if you, like
• 43:06
Speaker 9: I said, if you are all America, you got proven, thatsed,
• 43:08
Speaker 9: you got wins and losses all that, do you need
• 43:11
Speaker 9: to even go there?
• 43:12
Speaker 5: You had talked about the draft, like I think last
• 43:14
Speaker 5: week about talking about it, and I don't think we
• 43:16
  Speaker 5: got to it. So that's that's actually a good a
• 43:19
Speaker 5: good way to work through the rest of the show.
• 43:24
Speaker 5: My problem, my problem with the draft is the is
• 43:29
Speaker 5: actually now is the process because what's happening now, Like
• 43:33
Speaker 5: I can remember, you know, someone calling and telling me like, hey,
• 43:38
Speaker 5: there's a scout from such and such or a regional
• 43:41
Speaker 5: scout or a team scout. They're gonna come work you
• 43:44
Speaker 5: out after practice today, you know, or you know, we
• 43:49
Speaker 5: could have been done with football and at whatever time
• 43:51
Speaker 5: they coming, you had to get down, get on the field,
• 43:54
Speaker 5: get loose and run.
• 43:55
  Speaker 4: For the.
• 43:57
  Speaker 2: Combine itself.
• 44:00
Speaker 5: A lot of these top players are not wanting to
• 44:03
Speaker 5: do it for two reasons. One, they don't think they
• 44:07
Speaker 5: have to because they've already proven themselves on the field,
• 44:12
Speaker 5: which I can't argue that. And the other side of
• 44:16
Speaker 5: that is what if I run a slow forty What
• 44:19
Speaker 5: if I have a bad broad jump?
• 44:21
Speaker 2: What if I have you know, a bad stand that day? Yes, now,
• 44:26
  Speaker 2: all of a.
• 44:26
Speaker 5: Sudden, your stock drops, And to me, I would like
• 44:32
Speaker 5: everybody to go through the combine, but I understand that
• 44:38
Speaker 5: the reality of it is it can hurt you just
• 44:41
Speaker 5: as much as it can help you.
• 44:43
Speaker 2: But if you're a top guy, if you're a top guy, why.
• 44:47
Speaker 9: But what I'm saying is like if you at Marshall,
• 44:49
Speaker 9: Now let's say you have a twelve pick season, you
• 44:54
Speaker 9: are All American, all Conference, You've done all the things,
• 44:58
Speaker 9: you get all the accolades, and you're you know, you
• 45:01
Speaker 9: got size. All that, like I said, is the thought process. Now, like, man,
• 45:05
Speaker 9: just turn on the film. Like I don't have to
• 45:07
Speaker 9: do all these bench press and all this stuff that
• 45:09
Speaker 9: it really ain't football related. I don't need to do that.
• 45:12
Speaker 9: Turn on the film. Judge me against the best competition.
• 45:15
Speaker 9: Do I need to do? Do I need to do
• 45:16
  Speaker 9: all that?
• 45:17
Speaker 8: Maybe maybe for those smaller schools that don't have as
• 45:20
Speaker 8: much media, so those guys they need that opportunity. There's
• 45:24
Speaker 8: not gonna be as much film and media coverage.
• 45:27
Speaker 5: Well, but to Hollis, there's gonna be film work. I mean,
• 45:30
Speaker 5: everybody's on huddle, everybody's gonna have the competition.
• 45:33
  Speaker 2: I think competition.
• 45:36
Speaker 5: So to me, I think there's never gonna be a
• 45:41
Speaker 5: space for let's say somebody from let's say West Virginia State.
• 45:45
Speaker 2: Is not gonna have to they have to go there.
• 45:47
Speaker 2: You're gonna have to go.
• 45:49
Speaker 5: They're gonna have to, or they're gonna come and somebody
• 45:52
Speaker 5: who's really interested in you is gonna come and work
• 45:54
Speaker 5: you out and get their information.
• 45:56
Speaker 9: And I'm talking like the Notre Dames, the Florida's, the Alabama,
• 45:59
Speaker 9: That's what I'm talking like those guys. Yeah, do I
• 46:01
Speaker 9: need to come to And I'm and I'm gonna start it,
• 46:03
Speaker 9: and I got all the accolades and I've done everything.
• 46:06
Speaker 5: I think your mindset is gonna be like, no, I'm
• 46:08
Speaker 5: not gonna. I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna. There's no
• 46:10
Speaker 5: reason for me to do that.
• 46:12
Speaker 2: I think. I think the combine is is on? Is
• 46:14
Speaker 2: on a down side?
• 46:17
Speaker 6: Do you think they'll do away with it?
• 46:19
Speaker 2: Because I think that they have to. I just think
• 46:21
  Speaker 2: it's on.
• 46:21
Speaker 5: When I say downside, the top players are not interested
• 46:25
Speaker 5: in doing it because everybody wants to see.
• 46:30
Speaker 2: You know, the top players, how how fast are they?
• 46:33
  Speaker 2: You know?
• 46:33
Speaker 5: Can they run a four to two, four to one?
• 46:35
Speaker 5: You know all this kind of crazy numbers. How many
• 46:38
Speaker 5: times can they bench press? And and you know, and
• 46:40
Speaker 5: what's happening even more so is you don't. No one's
• 46:44
Speaker 5: talking about, you know, the broad jumps or anything anything
• 46:47
Speaker 5: other than what forty that that that that's That's basically it.
• 46:52
Speaker 5: So even if you cut it to that, I ain't running.
• 46:59
Speaker 5: I'm gonna let you got to figure out if I
• 47:01
Speaker 5: do I look fast enough on the film to be
• 47:04
Speaker 5: your number one draft pick.
• 47:06
  Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I don't know.
• 47:07
Speaker 9: It just seems like, like I said, if I'm at
• 47:09
Speaker 9: a big school and I've been played against the best
• 47:12
Speaker 9: competition in the country, and I've shown and proved that
• 47:15
Speaker 9: I've like I said, I've got statistics to back it up,
• 47:18
Speaker 9: I've got awards to back it up. I'm just thinking
• 47:21
Speaker 9: at this point and do I need to even do this? Like,
• 47:23
Speaker 9: is this like Travis Hunter, is it necessary for him
• 47:26
Speaker 9: to go to the combine?
• 47:29
Speaker 8: Well, I think it depends on on what teams want
• 47:32
Speaker 8: out of the draft. I mean because basically, you know,
• 47:35
Speaker 8: some teams you know that are solid in you know
• 47:38
Speaker 8: where they are as far as like you know, the
• 47:40
Speaker 8: their their whole structure, like the Chiefs so to speak.
• 47:43
Speaker 8: You know they're going to be looking at like, you know,
• 47:46
Speaker 8: the long term. They're not going to be looking for
• 47:48
Speaker 8: what's available to help positions of need, although they may
• 47:51
Speaker 8: need offensive line. We talked about that, yeah for sure,
• 47:53
Speaker 8: But you know, I think it depends on what the
• 47:55
Speaker 8: team needs out of the draft. Is it something that
• 47:58
Speaker 8: they just want some potential for long term, you know,
• 48:00
Speaker 8: longevity from a player that looks like they have potential
• 48:03
Speaker 8: and they can develop that player, or is it something
• 48:05
Speaker 8: they need immediate help with.
• 48:08
Speaker 9: That's true, And I know, like the Rams, they didn't
• 48:09
Speaker 9: even intend to draft. I don't think really yeah, I
• 48:12
Speaker 9: mean that again, I don't think they had like a first, second,
• 48:14
Speaker 9: third round pick, but I don't think they even sent
• 48:17
  Speaker 9: a scout.
• 48:18
Speaker 2: So some teams didn't even tend anybody. So let me
• 48:21
Speaker 2: ask this question. It's just gonna this. This would be shocked.
• 48:26
Speaker 2: You'll both be kind of shocked that I'm gonna.
• 48:27
Speaker 5: Ask this question. Are you gonna take Dion? Are you
• 48:31
Speaker 5: gonna take let's just say, are you gonna Are you
• 48:35
Speaker 5: gonna take them? Do you feel like you're gonna have
• 48:37
Speaker 5: an issue with with with Dion?
• 48:40
  Speaker 2: If yeah, I.
• 48:43
  Speaker 9: Don't think I would. I don't think you're gonna have
• 48:45
Speaker 9: that issue because I think probably that it seems like
• 48:47
Speaker 9: they both mutually agreed like it's time to let go now.
• 48:50
Speaker 9: The questions I have are just more base than to
• 48:54
Speaker 9: again something that you said, you know at the beginning
• 48:57
Speaker 9: of this past football season, is that again, when we
• 49:00
Speaker 9: look at top quarterbacks, they all are quick, fast and
• 49:04
Speaker 9: can reerly run the ball, not just scramble, but they
• 49:06
Speaker 9: can run the ball in design run plays. Like I
• 49:08
Speaker 9: said when we mentioned those top quarterbacks in the league
• 49:10
Speaker 9: now who are having a success, And the question is
• 49:15
Speaker 9: can you do that? And is your skill set good
• 49:19
Speaker 9: enough to take us over the hump? Is your skill
• 49:22
Speaker 9: set currently because really you can't run the ball. We
• 49:25
Speaker 9: know that's what you can't do. Or is that something
• 49:28
Speaker 9: that you'll be adding to your game? So that that
• 49:31
Speaker 9: would be my question with him, And again I think
• 49:33
Speaker 9: I would have the locker room question. Is he's a
• 49:35
Speaker 9: guy that can you know that other guys would following
• 49:38
Speaker 9: leads stuff like that. But even bigger than those questions physically,
• 49:42
Speaker 9: can you do what we need you to do to win.
• 49:44
Speaker 5: Because it's different. It's different no matter who you played against.
• 49:49
Speaker 5: It's different when you get there.
• 49:50
Speaker 2: And he showed he's tough at nails.
• 49:52
Speaker 9: Yeah, you can talk all the arrogant stuff, that kid
• 49:55
Speaker 9: is tough as nails because he took some blows over
• 49:57
Speaker 9: the last couple of seasons. But can you run rock?
• 50:01
Speaker 9: Can we can? We can we give you a quarterback counter.
• 50:05
  Speaker 9: That's my question.
• 50:06
Speaker 5: See, I'm gonna I'm gonna say he's gonna think that
• 50:10
Speaker 5: he can't now whether he you know, just.
• 50:14
Speaker 8: Comes with immaturity and just you know, your college days
• 50:18
Speaker 8: and confidence from that and you know he's been successful.
• 50:21
Speaker 9: But if we do that in college, that's what I'm saying.
• 50:25
Speaker 9: It ain't like he was, you know, doing what Jayleen
• 50:28
Speaker 9: Hurston was doing in college.
• 50:29
  Speaker 2: He wasn't. He wasn't like.
• 50:30
  Speaker 6: Winning, I think is the point. I don't know. I
• 50:34
  Speaker 6: don't know.
• 50:35
Speaker 8: I mean, he looks like if a team feels like
• 50:37
Speaker 8: they're confident enough in him, in his talents and what
• 50:39
Speaker 8: he does have, they can develop the other parts is
• 50:42
Speaker 8: what they would be thinking.
• 50:43
Speaker 2: I could buy that.
• 50:44
Speaker 5: I'm gonna say this because you look like that expressed
• 50:47
Speaker 5: us to me isself a smaller I think I think
• 50:50
Speaker 5: my fear that what I hope doesn't happen.
• 50:54
Speaker 2: Okay, now I'm gonna put that out first. I think
• 50:58
Speaker 2: he could end up becoming a locker room issue. I mean, well,
• 51:04
Speaker 2: I can see that.
• 51:05
Speaker 6: Again because of Dad or why why do you.
• 51:07
Speaker 5: Think that I think I think I think Dad could be.
• 51:17
  Speaker 2: I think that's brash.
• 51:18
Speaker 5: I would say that you can, you can, you can
• 51:20
Speaker 5: be self confident in the locker room, but you can't
• 51:23
Speaker 5: be you can't you It took well, let me rephrase that,
• 51:32
Speaker 5: when we had the big trade and we got herschel Walker,
• 51:36
  Speaker 5: that locker.
• 51:37
Speaker 2: Room never was ever comfortable, never recovered. It never recovered.
• 51:44
Speaker 5: Why we lost a ton of players that we were
• 51:46
Speaker 5: buddies with and so on and so forth, and all
• 51:48
Speaker 5: of a sudden, now we we've we've traded those guys off,
• 51:52
Speaker 5: and we've got this one guy, herschel Walker, Like, dude,
• 51:56
Speaker 5: what are you gonna do?
• 51:57
Speaker 2: Are you gonna help us on the whole team? You know?
• 52:00
Speaker 5: And again and then you're not Then you're not sociable either,
• 52:04
Speaker 5: And again I get it that you're he's new to
• 52:06
Speaker 5: the team, so he's he's kind of just kind of
• 52:08
Speaker 5: walking around trying to figure things out. You know, who
• 52:11
Speaker 5: can who's gonna talk to him, Who's gonna be his buddy?
• 52:14
Speaker 2: But I feel like.
• 52:16
Speaker 5: I feel like this is kind of the herschel Walker
• 52:19
Speaker 5: kind of thing to where all of a sudden you
• 52:22
Speaker 5: have all of these negative things behind him, you know,
• 52:27
Speaker 5: because so there's gonna be some players who's gonna automatically
• 52:29
Speaker 5: think Dad had something in this.
• 52:31
Speaker 2: I don't think you can beat that. You know, well,
• 52:34
Speaker 2: they will say, I mean he's shown to improve on
• 52:36
  Speaker 2: the field.
• 52:36
Speaker 5: I mean, nobody cares about what you showed in college.
• 52:41
Speaker 5: When you get there, you gotta show it. You gotta
• 52:43
Speaker 5: show it in camp. You got to show it in camp.
• 52:45
Speaker 5: And if he shows it, he'll get to do that
• 52:48
Speaker 5: he deserves. If he doesn't that, there's gonna be a
• 52:53
  Speaker 5: locker room issue.
• 52:55
Speaker 8: Do you think he's gonna be drafted first or second
• 52:58
Speaker 8: or even further back?
• 52:59
  Speaker 2: I think so.
• 53:00
Speaker 9: I think it's gonna be down. I can see late round.
• 53:02
  Speaker 9: I can almost. I won't say I could. I almost
• 53:05
Speaker 9: see second round a little bit. But I don't think
• 53:06
  Speaker 9: it's gonna be top ten. I don't either. But I
• 53:09
Speaker 9: think people are thinking.
• 53:13
  Speaker 7: Ward.
• 53:13
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 53:13
Speaker 5: I think the first quarterback down. I'm curious of how
• 53:20
Speaker 5: late he could go or even how early.
• 53:24
Speaker 9: Yeah, Because I think teams now you just can't afford
• 53:26
Speaker 9: to blunder up these pics. You have to get guys
• 53:29
Speaker 9: that can really come in and play like you know,
• 53:31
Speaker 9: if you're like a for example, like a Cleveland Browns,
• 53:33
Speaker 9: you gotta get a guy who can come in and
• 53:35
  Speaker 9: contribute today.
• 53:36
Speaker 6: You don't have time to really, you.
• 53:40
Speaker 9: Are weekend and I'm just not like I said, and
• 53:43
Speaker 9: it's just outside of everything else. To me, it's just
• 53:47
Speaker 9: the physical ability because I'm to me, I'm not. It's
• 53:51
Speaker 9: not a one to one comparison. But he's a lot
• 53:53
Speaker 9: like Dak Prescott in that. Again, I think he has
• 53:57
Speaker 9: better accuracy and he has elite ball play. He doesn't
• 54:01
Speaker 9: have a strong arm, and he just he's not immobile.
• 54:06
  Speaker 9: But he's not a runner.
• 54:07
Speaker 6: Well that's the truth, that's true.
• 54:09
Speaker 8: Then you know Jerry Jones is gonna snap him right,
• 54:14
Speaker 8: he'll be all over that.
• 54:16
Speaker 5: Well, we'll see, I will tell you, ladies and gentlemen,
• 54:22
Speaker 5: we're gonna get out of here.
• 54:23
