- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome into this week's episode of Inside the Charge. I'm
- 0:03Speaker 1: Maddi Glabin, and today's episode will be joined by Bill's
- 0:06Speaker 1: safety Micah Hyde, who's now back on the team after
- 0:09Speaker 1: becoming a free agent last season. He hadn't stepped foot
- 0:13Speaker 1: in this building since last January. Now he's back as
- 0:16Speaker 1: a practice squad player. Micah talks about being on the
- 0:19Speaker 1: practice squad for the first time in his twelve year
- 0:22Speaker 1: career as an NFL player. He also gets into what
- 0:25Speaker 1: it's like being back with so many of his best
- 0:28Speaker 1: friends and why this place just feels like home. Mike
- 0:31Speaker 1: also talks about the season that Josh Allen is having
- 0:34Speaker 1: and why he thinks it's just different here for this
- 0:37Speaker 1: team this season. It's an episode you don't want to miss. Micah,
- 0:50Speaker 1: thanks so much for taking the time to sit down
- 0:52Speaker 1: and chat about being back in Buffalo. We're so excited
- 0:56Speaker 1: to have you back here. Why could you not stay
- 0:59Speaker 1: away from this place for too long?
- 1:01Speaker 2: Why could not? Why could I not? You know, I
- 1:03Speaker 2: thought I was going to I thought, you know, it
- 1:05Speaker 2: was it was all good.
- 1:07Speaker 3: And I was going to watch the games from San Diego,
- 1:09Speaker 3: from the from from you know, the beginning of the
- 1:11Speaker 3: season until till the end, but uh, you know, we
- 1:15Speaker 3: were hoping that we would possibly get a call, and
- 1:19Speaker 3: funny enough, a couple of weeks ago we did.
- 1:22Speaker 2: And you know, our immediate reaction was, we're good. We're good.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Let's you know, it's sunny and seventy five, the kids
- 1:28Speaker 3: on a routine, We're in a routine, we're having fun.
- 1:32Speaker 3: We got some things playing for the rest of the year.
- 1:34Speaker 3: And then we came to our senses and we're like, look,
- 1:37Speaker 3: this is a hell of an opportunity, and there's no
- 1:40Speaker 3: place like Buffalo.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Why not.
- 1:42Speaker 3: You know, we still have our house, we can get
- 1:44Speaker 3: settled in a couple of days, and you know, why
- 1:47Speaker 3: not why not spend this this time and and Christmas time?
- 1:51Speaker 3: And very good football team, a lot of guys I
- 1:53Speaker 3: know around here, and a lot of respect. So we
- 1:57Speaker 3: decided to come back, and it was the one of
- 2:00Speaker 3: the best decisions we've made.
- 2:02Speaker 1: So you play here for seventh seven years, now you're
- 2:04Speaker 1: in your eighth season. You are away from this place
- 2:07Speaker 1: for more than six months. What's the best part about
- 2:10Speaker 1: being back?
- 2:12Speaker 2: The best part about being back? I mean people say this.
- 2:15Speaker 3: All the time, but it really is like a family
- 2:18Speaker 3: you know, I can I step in here and you know,
- 2:20Speaker 3: just whether if it's the people in the cafeteria, the janitors,
- 2:25Speaker 3: the staff all around the building, the trainers, the strength staff,
- 2:31Speaker 3: you know, equipment staff, whoever it is, you know, you
- 2:35Speaker 3: guys with media and stuff. You know, I just think
- 2:37Speaker 3: throughout the years we've developed such good relationships that you know,
- 2:42Speaker 3: we're just I'm happy to see everybody. I love what
- 2:45Speaker 3: I do coming to work every day, and you know
- 2:47Speaker 3: I have a different role right now, and I'm trying
- 2:49Speaker 3: to help. Honestly, I'm trying to help everybody. I'm trying
- 2:52Speaker 3: to help you know, if if you need any tips
- 2:55Speaker 3: on how to improve your job, hey, I'm that guy,
- 2:58Speaker 3: you know. So I'm trying to to give everybody some
- 3:02Speaker 3: some confidence and boost everybody because I know that you know,
- 3:05Speaker 3: it's it's snowing outside right now, and I know for
- 3:08Speaker 3: some guys it's been a long season, and you know,
- 3:10Speaker 3: I've been through this and the kind of that mental grind.
- 3:13Speaker 2: So you know, I'm here to Uh.
- 3:15Speaker 3: I was here to try to bring some sunshine, but
- 3:17Speaker 3: that didn't that didn't happen snow.
- 3:21Speaker 1: The real question, though, Micah, is what is what is
- 3:23Speaker 1: your wife love most about being back.
- 3:25Speaker 2: She just loves she loves this place. She loves this place.
- 3:28Speaker 2: I love this place, but she like beyond it.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Yeah, because outside of this building, you know, where she's
- 3:35Speaker 3: been at home, and she's just developed her own relationships
- 3:38Speaker 3: with throughout the community, with people that she'll see every day,
- 3:42Speaker 3: whether if it's going to get her clothes tailored or
- 3:48Speaker 3: stop them by this restaurant or stop them by this shop.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Like they all know her. She knows them.
- 3:54Speaker 3: And so it's just like that family atmosphere and this
- 3:57Speaker 3: you know, it's a great place for to raise a family.
- 4:01Speaker 2: You know, the kids are going to school.
- 4:03Speaker 3: And you know, we never have to worry about, you know,
- 4:07Speaker 3: any other craziness going on. It just feels like a
- 4:10Speaker 3: small town, small wooden, Midwest town.
- 4:13Speaker 2: And that's what you get in Buffalo, New York.
- 4:16Speaker 1: You were here for so long that I feel like
- 4:18Speaker 1: if people just glanced at you in the last two weeks,
- 4:21Speaker 1: they might have thought, oh, Mike has always been here.
- 4:24Speaker 4: This is MICA's eighth season. He never left.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Did you fool anybody by coming back and somebody walking
- 4:30Speaker 1: by you and having to do a double take?
- 4:32Speaker 3: Like everybody year back, everybody the first couple of days
- 4:35Speaker 3: I was back like because nobody knew. Nobody knew because
- 4:39Speaker 3: you know, I spoke to to being and like I said,
- 4:42Speaker 3: we were going back forth for a couple of days.
- 4:44Speaker 3: I had a conversation with with uh with Sean and
- 4:47Speaker 3: you know, still was kind of undecided, and so we
- 4:51Speaker 3: kind of kept it under rept because you know, being
- 4:54Speaker 3: hit me up during the bye, but we really didn't
- 4:56Speaker 3: decide until after.
- 4:57Speaker 2: So we didn't I didn't want to be a distraction.
- 4:59Speaker 3: You know, they were getting ready for the forty nine
- 5:01Speaker 3: ers and they ended up you know, whooping whooping them,
- 5:04Speaker 3: and so didn't want to be a distraction.
- 5:06Speaker 2: And you know, I have anybody hear about it.
- 5:08Speaker 3: So when I came into the building for the first day,
- 5:10Speaker 3: nobody knew except for being in Sean and obviously my
- 5:13Speaker 3: wife and my family and stuff. But so I walked
- 5:16Speaker 3: in just cold call, just hey, what's up? And they're like, Hi, wait,
- 5:21Speaker 3: what what? Like what are you doing back? And I
- 5:23Speaker 3: still think some coaches and some players are like like
- 5:25Speaker 3: what are you doing here?
- 5:26Speaker 2: Like what do you like are you playing this week?
- 5:29Speaker 2: Like what? Like what's going on?
- 5:30Speaker 3: And so it's still a little bit of confusion, But
- 5:33Speaker 3: like I said, I'm here to help any way I can.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Who had the best reaction about you being back in
- 5:38Speaker 1: the building.
- 5:39Speaker 2: The best reaction.
- 5:43Speaker 3: There was a there was a few guys that that
- 5:46Speaker 3: i'll I'll hulk on. The linebacker coach he looked at
- 5:50Speaker 3: me as and just looked in my eyes and said
- 5:52Speaker 3: straight up.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Like what are you what are you doing here? I
- 5:55Speaker 2: was like, you lost?
- 5:56Speaker 3: It was like what do you mean? I like, I'm
- 5:58Speaker 3: here to help. Like He's like like no, like what
- 6:00Speaker 3: are you doing? He made it sound like I had
- 6:01Speaker 3: to leave. Like I was just like relaxed, man, I'm
- 6:04Speaker 3: here to like, I'm here to to see what I
- 6:06Speaker 3: can do to help. And so that was a good reaction.
- 6:09Speaker 3: But there was a lot of people, you know, with
- 6:10Speaker 3: with whatever it was in the cafeterias. If I walked in
- 6:12Speaker 3: and you know, I love I love all them up there,
- 6:15Speaker 3: they're they're amazing people, and you know, they always bring
- 6:18Speaker 3: a lot of energy in the morning and.
- 6:20Speaker 2: And stuff like. That's when I walked in. That was
- 6:23Speaker 2: was pretty cool. And then that's just that's the type
- 6:26Speaker 2: of family atmosphere that this building has.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Being away from this Sport since January of last year.
- 6:32Speaker 4: Do you have a new.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Appreciation for this team or for the league now that
- 6:36Speaker 1: you're coming back.
- 6:38Speaker 2: For sure?
- 6:38Speaker 3: For sure personally, you know, not really talking football and
- 6:44Speaker 3: being in the meetings and stuff like that.
- 6:47Speaker 2: You know.
- 6:47Speaker 3: I I I was at I was at home in
- 6:50Speaker 3: San Diego, like watching as a fan because I'm watching
- 6:53Speaker 3: on TV and I don't have the actual film that
- 6:55Speaker 3: the team watches, so like I I have to see
- 6:57Speaker 3: what people see. I have to listen to what the
- 6:59Speaker 3: commentators are saying. So I was really just a fan
- 7:01Speaker 3: and then coming back in here, it just it was
- 7:06Speaker 3: really a just it's just a blessing. It's a blessing
- 7:08Speaker 3: really to be a part of this team and just
- 7:11Speaker 3: the amount of success that this team has had this year.
- 7:14Speaker 3: And you know, for being to even call and be like, hey,
- 7:17Speaker 3: we want you to be a part of it. Like
- 7:19Speaker 3: who was I to be like, Nah, I'm good. Like
- 7:21Speaker 3: it's two months and you know, I get to come
- 7:23Speaker 3: here and work out practice, you know, see what I
- 7:26Speaker 3: can do to once again help this team. So yeah,
- 7:30Speaker 3: I mean that was just it was it was a
- 7:34Speaker 3: it was a no brainer.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I guess in the end, you spent more than half
- 7:37Speaker 1: of the season watching this team from California, experiencing it
- 7:40Speaker 1: as a fan.
- 7:42Speaker 4: What is Mike A. Hyde like As a fan?
- 7:44Speaker 3: I was I was watching every game. I was watching
- 7:46Speaker 3: every try to watch every single play. And you know
- 7:50Speaker 3: out there the night games, which you know the Bills
- 7:52Speaker 3: had a bunch of primetime games.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Was eight o'clock here by five o'clock there.
- 7:57Speaker 3: The kids don't go to sleep, you know, they're not
- 7:59Speaker 3: eating dinner and to sleep to about six thirty seven,
- 8:02Speaker 3: seven thirty. So the games will be on and they're
- 8:05Speaker 3: like still run around the house and I'm trying to
- 8:06Speaker 3: watch it for the TV. And a man is making
- 8:08Speaker 3: dinner and I'm like, yo, like who's watching the kids?
- 8:10Speaker 3: Like I can't watch the kids, like you're making dinner.
- 8:14Speaker 3: I'm watching this game.
- 8:15Speaker 4: Got a job right now.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Somebody has to watch the kids. So I was taking
- 8:18Speaker 3: a little heat every now and then for watching the games.
- 8:21Speaker 3: But yeah, I was trying to watch every single play.
- 8:23Speaker 3: I was a fan. I was rooted for everybody was
- 8:25Speaker 3: you know, I didn't want to be that like clingy,
- 8:27Speaker 3: like clingy ex girlfriend.
- 8:29Speaker 2: That's like, hey, good game. Hard not be I mean
- 8:33Speaker 2: I did a few times. I did a few times.
- 8:35Speaker 3: I'd text, you know, whether it's the coaches or players
- 8:38Speaker 3: or whatever and say hey, like keep it up, good game.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Just trying to motivate, trying to give confidence from whatever,
- 8:44Speaker 3: three thousand miles away, whatever the mileage is.
- 8:47Speaker 2: But yeah, I was. I was a huge fan.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Who are some guys that have impressed you this season
- 8:52Speaker 1: as you've watched this season unfold?
- 8:54Speaker 2: Oh?
- 8:54Speaker 3: Man, I think each and every guy I could probably
- 8:57Speaker 3: say something about.
- 8:58Speaker 2: You know, I just from seeing it on TV, seeing it.
- 9:03Speaker 3: From that perspective and then coming in this locker room
- 9:05Speaker 3: and actually knowing the guys.
- 9:06Speaker 2: It was cool.
- 9:07Speaker 3: It's cool to really to see the growth, you know,
- 9:10Speaker 3: whether if it's Tarn becoming a leader more Lano.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Becoming a leader more more vocal.
- 9:15Speaker 3: TV has always been a leader, but stepping up that
- 9:17Speaker 3: role with with you know, myself and Poe and some
- 9:20Speaker 3: other guys gone big, Greg, you know, making plays is
- 9:25Speaker 3: you know, just what Josh is able to do is
- 9:28Speaker 3: just stupid.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Like that guy.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Man, Like even watching him on TV, I don't think
- 9:36Speaker 3: I realized like the amount of stuff that he that
- 9:40Speaker 3: he does.
- 9:40Speaker 2: It's it's truly, it's truly remarkable. And so.
- 9:45Speaker 3: I can probably go up and down the lineup with
- 9:47Speaker 3: guys and even with coaches.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Like just hearing hearing Sean's.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Message throughout the last couple of weeks and how confident
- 9:55Speaker 3: he is in his guys and and in this team,
- 9:59Speaker 3: and not saying he wasn't in the past, but it's
- 10:01Speaker 3: just a different feel this this place is it's a
- 10:04Speaker 3: different feel as far as like you know, people are coming,
- 10:06Speaker 3: they're working, and you know, it's kind of just like,
- 10:09Speaker 3: let's come in, get our job and win and go
- 10:12Speaker 3: about it the right way.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Over the last three games, Josh Allen has fourteen total touchdowns,
- 10:16Speaker 1: more than a thousand yards of offense, no turnovers, no sacks.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Are we watching an historic season from the quarterback position?
- 10:25Speaker 2: For sure?
- 10:28Speaker 3: The conversations that even I've had with him over the
- 10:32Speaker 3: last year, it just seems different.
- 10:35Speaker 2: And you can.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Tell, you know, he's He's always been a hell of
- 10:40Speaker 3: a football player and a great person, but I think
- 10:42Speaker 3: that his match rate did like the maturation process for him.
- 10:46Speaker 3: It's really it's really showing right now like he's just
- 10:50Speaker 3: taken every game for what it is.
- 10:52Speaker 2: For sure, historic season. You know, I can.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Compare this to some some of the games that you know,
- 10:58Speaker 3: when I was in Green Bay Aaron and his prime
- 11:01Speaker 3: just like and I'm not comparing the two, I'm just
- 11:04Speaker 3: comparing the situation and the games. Like you just knew
- 11:07Speaker 3: when you sat down on the bench as a defensive player,
- 11:09Speaker 3: it's like, Okay, we don't have to get up for
- 11:11Speaker 3: like at least eight minutes of like actual game time
- 11:14Speaker 3: unless they go and just have a long play and
- 11:17Speaker 3: score in like three plays. So it just seems like
- 11:20Speaker 3: that same thing. And I make sure to be proud
- 11:23Speaker 3: of him man, because he's he's has a lot on
- 11:25Speaker 3: his shoulders he's had for a long time being a
- 11:27Speaker 3: starting the quarterback in this league, but also just out
- 11:29Speaker 3: everyone puts a lot of pressure on him, and that
- 11:32Speaker 3: I think that maturation process has gotten him to a
- 11:34Speaker 3: point where he really doesn't care about.
- 11:36Speaker 2: What everyone else thinks.
- 11:37Speaker 3: He wants to play well for his guys and he
- 11:39Speaker 3: wants to have fun doing it, and that's that's all
- 11:41Speaker 3: he cares about.
- 11:42Speaker 1: You mentioned some of the defensive players who have stepped up.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Matt Milano, one of our linebackers, and then our nickel
- 11:49Speaker 1: cornerback Tarren Johnson. You and Jordan Poyer leave this team
- 11:53Speaker 1: last year after being two safeties who were here for
- 11:56Speaker 1: seven seasons, you guys combined for thirty eight interceptions all
- 12:00Speaker 1: Pro seasons, Pro Bowl seasons.
- 12:02Speaker 4: Leadership walks out the door.
- 12:04Speaker 1: How have you seen those two step up in leadership
- 12:08Speaker 1: roles now that you're back on the field.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Well, when all this was happening before the season even started,
- 12:13Speaker 3: you know, like in my mind, I'm like good, like good,
- 12:16Speaker 3: like this is gonna make other guys step up.
- 12:19Speaker 2: And I think sometimes.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Some people get like worried about change and like scary.
- 12:24Speaker 3: It is scary, but it's it's a part of the game,
- 12:26Speaker 3: Like it's a part of you know, I see, I
- 12:29Speaker 3: see kind of where a GM would want to make
- 12:32Speaker 3: some decisions. Obviously you're gonna, you know, lose some of
- 12:34Speaker 3: the leadership side, but you're going to gain some and
- 12:37Speaker 3: in some other areas.
- 12:38Speaker 2: So so so change is good.
- 12:39Speaker 3: But to answer your question, to see those guys, you know,
- 12:44Speaker 3: step up and and bring other guys along with them,
- 12:48Speaker 3: And I think that's just like a total team effort
- 12:50Speaker 3: with the offensive society of the special teams in the
- 12:52Speaker 3: defense just having their own.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Guys that are able to step up.
- 12:54Speaker 3: And I'm proud of them. I'm I'm I was already
- 12:58Speaker 3: proud of them, you know, going before the season even
- 12:59Speaker 3: st but you know, I feel like that, Uh, I
- 13:02Speaker 3: feel like that proud uncle. That's just you know, uh,
- 13:06Speaker 3: watching film and in meetings and stuff, just trying to
- 13:09Speaker 3: help and and keep their confidence up.
- 13:12Speaker 2: And I'm just proud of them.
- 13:14Speaker 4: Tarn always has jokes for you.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Is it hard to say that Terren's doing a great
- 13:19Speaker 1: job as a leader this season, knowing how many jokes
- 13:21Speaker 1: he probably had for you when you walked through these doors.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll tell you, I'll tell you, but I'm not
- 13:26Speaker 3: gonna tell him. I'm proud of him because he's a
- 13:29Speaker 3: little brother, like, you know, well fortunate enough to all
- 13:32Speaker 3: make you know, good money and playing in this league,
- 13:36Speaker 3: and he just.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Always asks me for a ride.
- 13:39Speaker 3: And I'm just like, dude, like I just got back
- 13:42Speaker 3: into town, Like what have you been doing all season?
- 13:43Speaker 2: Have you been asking other people for rides all season?
- 13:46Speaker 4: You know, that's just he doesn't want to drive to
- 13:48Speaker 4: the facility.
- 13:48Speaker 2: He's a little brother.
- 13:49Speaker 3: No, he will drive to the facility, but like going
- 13:51Speaker 3: to the away games and airport and stuff like, he
- 13:53Speaker 3: just he's my little brother.
- 13:55Speaker 2: So that's just that's tea. I'll never I'll never miss
- 14:04Speaker 2: having to give Taran a ryde, that's for sure.
- 14:06Speaker 1: The Bills have a new defensive coordinator this year, and
- 14:08Speaker 1: Bobby Babbach. He was someone who was your position group
- 14:11Speaker 1: coach for some time and then also coach the linebackers.
- 14:15Speaker 1: What have you seen from his first year as a
- 14:18Speaker 1: defensive coordinator.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Guys are hungry.
- 14:22Speaker 3: I feel like when you're when you're able to watch
- 14:24Speaker 3: a game, like I said on TV and see guys
- 14:28Speaker 3: getting to the football and gang tackle and you know
- 14:32Speaker 3: the takeaway margin is is.
- 14:35Speaker 2: You know, remarkable plus eighteen eighteen.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Yeah, just what what this defense has been able to do.
- 14:41Speaker 3: And I know, you know, there's been a few hiccups
- 14:42Speaker 3: last couple of weeks, playing not making excuses, playing a
- 14:48Speaker 3: really good rams offense with a veteran quarterback that knew
- 14:51Speaker 3: exactly what we were doing the whole time, Playing a
- 14:53Speaker 3: very good lines offense with a very good like just
- 14:57Speaker 3: skill positions and the quarterback very experience, and you know
- 15:01Speaker 3: is in the MVP race also. So to see what
- 15:04Speaker 3: this team has done this whole season with a couple
- 15:06Speaker 3: hiccups these last couple of games, it's just it's it's amazing.
- 15:09Speaker 3: I think that's an indication of what Bobby and Sean
- 15:12Speaker 3: has been able to do around here for many, many years.
- 15:14Speaker 3: You know, we're gonna we're gonna have some hiccups, We're
- 15:19Speaker 3: gonna have some games where we just felt like we
- 15:21Speaker 3: just laid an egg. That's part of the NFL, And
- 15:24Speaker 3: like I said, I'm not making enough excuses. But at
- 15:26Speaker 3: the same time, you have different type of offenses each
- 15:30Speaker 3: and every week, and if you do have similar offenses,
- 15:33Speaker 3: then they're trying to see what you did well or
- 15:36Speaker 3: bad and execute against you that way. So it's a
- 15:40Speaker 3: chess match. And I'm proud of what Bobby has been
- 15:42Speaker 3: able to do this season and what he's going to
- 15:44Speaker 3: continue to do for this team.
- 15:45Speaker 1: You've been mentioning I came here to help. I'm trying
- 15:47Speaker 1: to see how I can help at the end of
- 15:49Speaker 1: the regular season as we push into the playoffs. Mikey,
- 15:52Speaker 1: you were drafted by the Packers in twenty thirteen in
- 15:55Speaker 1: the fifth round. Have you ever been on the practice
- 15:58Speaker 1: squad before?
- 15:59Speaker 2: Never? Never?
- 16:00Speaker 3: And this was a This was a different role for me,
- 16:03Speaker 3: and I think that was I think that's why I
- 16:05Speaker 3: was going back, Like when I tell you, I was
- 16:07Speaker 3: going back and forth when Being called, like, I was
- 16:10Speaker 3: obviously happy he called, but at the same time, it
- 16:14Speaker 3: was immediately like, you know, in order to play this game,
- 16:17Speaker 3: you gotta have.
- 16:18Speaker 2: An ego and to play at a high level, Yeah,
- 16:20Speaker 2: you have to have an ego.
- 16:21Speaker 3: You have to be you have to see yourself as
- 16:23Speaker 3: as an alpha male and as somebody that's going And
- 16:25Speaker 3: that's that's why I feel like I've been so successful
- 16:28Speaker 3: in this league is you know, I go out there
- 16:30Speaker 3: each and every game and I know I'm gonna make plays,
- 16:33Speaker 3: and I have that confidence I'm gonna make plays. So
- 16:35Speaker 3: when I got that phone call from Being, it was like, hey,
- 16:37Speaker 3: you can come, but it's practice squad and and and
- 16:41Speaker 3: I get it how hard practice squad guys work and
- 16:44Speaker 3: all that type of stuff.
- 16:44Speaker 2: But for me, I was just like, man, I played eleven.
- 16:47Speaker 4: You're two time all pro.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I don't need to do that pro bowler sixteen interceptions
- 16:51Speaker 1: while you were here.
- 16:52Speaker 3: So that's why I was battling that, like I don't
- 16:55Speaker 3: need to do I don't need to do it, And
- 16:56Speaker 3: it was my ego. It was it was my ego,
- 16:58Speaker 3: like you don't don't need to do that. But after
- 17:02Speaker 3: a couple of days of sleeping on it, I literally
- 17:03Speaker 3: just breathe a little bit. I stepped back, and I
- 17:06Speaker 3: was like, once again, they didn't need to call me.
- 17:09Speaker 3: It's you know, it's not about the money. It's about
- 17:13Speaker 3: like me coming here and trying to see what the
- 17:15Speaker 3: goal has always been, to get this team to win
- 17:16Speaker 3: a championship, to get this community a championship, and so
- 17:19Speaker 3: if I'm able to be a part of that, then
- 17:22Speaker 3: that's my role. Like I don't care about anything else.
- 17:24Speaker 3: So it was new to me. I was battling that
- 17:27Speaker 3: that mental game for sure. But once I wrapped my
- 17:31Speaker 3: head around decision and we got back in Buffalo and
- 17:33Speaker 3: seeing everybody's reaction and walking through the locker room and
- 17:35Speaker 3: seeing all you guys, once again, one of the best decisions.
- 17:39Speaker 2: I've ever made.
- 17:40Speaker 1: The goal is to win this team a championship. The
- 17:43Speaker 1: group is eleven and three right now, how's that goal coming?
- 17:48Speaker 2: It is coming very good.
- 17:50Speaker 3: And I think that even though it you know, it's
- 17:54Speaker 3: been fourteen games, it's still a long season. It's still
- 17:58Speaker 3: a very long season. And I say that because game
- 18:00Speaker 3: is still you got to focus on this one game
- 18:02Speaker 3: and then once you get in the playoffs, anything can
- 18:04Speaker 3: happen you see each and every year. So this is
- 18:07Speaker 3: that time where you got to really dial in, have
- 18:09Speaker 3: that you know, have that laser focus. And it seems
- 18:13Speaker 3: like these these next three weeks being in the league
- 18:15Speaker 3: for a while, these next three leaks are gonna be
- 18:17Speaker 3: some long weeks, and you got to be able to
- 18:19Speaker 3: have that constant focus each and every day. And I
- 18:22Speaker 3: feel like, if this team is able to do that,
- 18:23Speaker 3: then give gives us a very good job.
- 18:26Speaker 1: You've been through many long seasons. This is year number
- 18:29Speaker 1: twelve for you. What type of advice are you giving
- 18:32Speaker 1: these younger players who are hitting that rookie wall or
- 18:37Speaker 1: are experiencing it's December.
- 18:39Speaker 4: It's cold as heck outside.
- 18:41Speaker 1: We got to go out there and practice.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean my advice to to not just the
- 18:47Speaker 3: young guys, but everybody in here is and everybody watching
- 18:51Speaker 3: on TV and everyone that's going to listen to this, Like,
- 18:54Speaker 3: there's no guarantee that this football team in the next
- 18:59Speaker 3: ten year years will be eleven and three. You know, like,
- 19:02Speaker 3: there's no there's no guarantee. And so you know, I'm
- 19:04Speaker 3: sitting at home and I'm thinking, like, man, I never
- 19:06Speaker 3: got a shot to play in the Super Bowl. I
- 19:08Speaker 3: never got past the championship game. I was there three times.
- 19:11Speaker 3: I never got to play in a super Bowl. Like
- 19:13Speaker 3: it's it's crazy because you know, I've been to the
- 19:15Speaker 3: playoffs every year but two. And so my advice to
- 19:19Speaker 3: everybody is like, cherish this moment, Live in this moment
- 19:22Speaker 3: because you never know if you'll be able to get
- 19:24Speaker 3: have it back and not. It's not to not to
- 19:28Speaker 3: stress about it, but just to cherish it and have
- 19:32Speaker 3: that laser focus and know that each game is just
- 19:34Speaker 3: try to continue to get better and hopefully in February
- 19:38Speaker 3: we're holding it up.
- 19:39Speaker 4: I hope so too.
- 19:40Speaker 1: I believe in you guys. I believe in this group.
- 19:41Speaker 1: I think you being back here is an awesome help.
- 19:45Speaker 1: The dB Dinners. You guys have these dB Dinners every
- 19:48Speaker 1: single week. Part of me thought, Micah and Jordan aren't
- 19:52Speaker 1: here anymore. What's gonna happen to these position group dinners.
- 19:56Speaker 1: You guys were such a big part of that equation.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Well they went on, Yeah, they're still happening as they should.
- 20:03Speaker 4: As they should.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Mike is added back into the equation. Are the guys
- 20:07Speaker 1: happy they to have you back at.
- 20:09Speaker 4: The dinner table?
- 20:10Speaker 3: They try to pull a fast making you pay, they
- 20:12Speaker 3: tried to make They said anybody new has to pay
- 20:14Speaker 3: for the whole.
- 20:15Speaker 4: Dinner, Like you're a new player now practice.
- 20:19Speaker 2: I'm not buying that.
- 20:20Speaker 3: And in the past, in the past, if you're on
- 20:23Speaker 3: practice squad, you don't have to pay, so like that's
- 20:27Speaker 3: that's the rules. But then they said, well we changed
- 20:30Speaker 3: rules since you guys Leftah, but yeah, I didn't. I
- 20:32Speaker 3: didn't have to pay. Someone else had to pay the
- 20:34Speaker 3: other day because they were late. And so but I
- 20:37Speaker 3: think that what we've been able to establish here with
- 20:39Speaker 3: the dB dinners, with the White Elephant, Christmas Gives, the
- 20:44Speaker 3: Christmas Exchange, the Christmas Party, the Halloween parties that we've
- 20:48Speaker 3: thrown around here for a long time. I feel like
- 20:50Speaker 3: with those being like the foundation pieces within this organization is.
- 20:54Speaker 2: What keeps this team going.
- 20:55Speaker 3: And and I feel like, you know, that's a that's
- 20:58Speaker 3: a good reflection as to why this team is doing
- 21:00Speaker 3: so well.
- 21:01Speaker 1: So you spoke about all of the things that this
- 21:03Speaker 1: team has created since twenty seventeen, the group dinners, the
- 21:07Speaker 1: gift exchanges, the parties you set that you started that
- 21:12Speaker 1: along with Jordan Poyer.
- 21:15Speaker 4: You left this team.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Now you're back. Is it interesting to walk back in
- 21:19Speaker 1: and see how that is still all good and well?
- 21:22Speaker 2: For sure? For sure, I gotta give I gotta give props.
- 21:24Speaker 3: To to the williams Is because they're the ones that
- 21:29Speaker 3: handed the Christmas party off to us when we when
- 21:33Speaker 3: after they left here.
- 21:34Speaker 2: But the dinners and stuff like that.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Kirk Coleman came in from from Carolina and he really
- 21:39Speaker 3: he really to the next level.
- 21:41Speaker 2: But yeah, we've just.
- 21:44Speaker 3: We've we've developed those things throughout the year and it's
- 21:46Speaker 3: been cool to come back in and see what they
- 21:49Speaker 3: are continuing to do and the new things that you
- 21:51Speaker 3: know that this team is established. So once again, I'm
- 21:56Speaker 3: like a proud uncle walking around here.
- 21:58Speaker 2: And I'm happy. I'm happy here every day.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Even though the snow's coming down, it's still it's still sun,
- 22:04Speaker 3: Sonny and seventy five in my world going on in
- 22:07Speaker 3: my head because I wake up extremely blessed and I
- 22:10Speaker 3: know that if this team was when this team it
- 22:15Speaker 3: finally gets it done, it's gonna be uh, it's gonna
- 22:18Speaker 3: be pretty pretty exciting for this community.
- 22:20Speaker 1: And we're glad you can belong for the ride, because
- 22:23Speaker 1: this place does not it's not the same without you Micah,
- 22:26Speaker 1: and it just feels right when you're in the building.
- 22:27Speaker 2: I appreciate it. Thank you so much.
- 22:29Speaker 4: All right, thanks for sitting down with us. Appreciate the time.
