- 0:50SPEAKER_02: I'm your host, Michael Berg, in beautiful, carefree Arizona.
- 0:55SPEAKER_02: Halloween week is here, gentlemen.
- 0:57SPEAKER_02: Happy Halloween.
- 0:59SPEAKER_02: All tricks, no treats, sports equinox.
- 1:03SPEAKER_02: I mean, game five of the World Series tonight.
- 1:05SPEAKER_02: Rolled in the second half against Baltimore.
- 1:08SPEAKER_02: Life is good.
- 1:09SPEAKER_02: Got our boys with us tonight.
- 1:10SPEAKER_02: Brian Kyle, Utah County.
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: Brian, how are you living?
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Oh man, fantastic.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Always always good to be with you guys and talk with you guys, even better off of a 35 to zero shellacking in the second half of the those vaunted Baltimore Ravens.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: So excited to get into it and talk about it.
- 1:32SPEAKER_02: Love that.
- 1:34SPEAKER_02: Brandt, Northern Kentucky coming off the high.
- 1:37SPEAKER_02: Not only Bengals, UC massive upset on Saturday.
- 1:42SPEAKER_02: They're gonna do it again uh this weekend.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: Ooh, it's gonna be a little tougher against against those Utes.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: But uh, but yeah, excited to talk some bangles with you guys tonight.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: Uh I I've not been on a roller coaster of emotions like that in a long time.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: So I just want you guys to know it it took me a couple days to recover, but I'm ready to talk about the second half.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: Throw that first half in the trash can, but second half, oh my gosh, just unreal.
- 2:14SPEAKER_02: You're so right.
- 2:15SPEAKER_02: I literally turned on the postgame and laid out back and took a nap out in the sun.
- 2:20SPEAKER_02: I it was it was exhausting in that first half, and then just pure excitement in that second half.
- 2:27SPEAKER_02: So let's get to it.
- 2:28SPEAKER_02: Four downs.
- 2:29SPEAKER_02: You all know the drill.
- 2:30SPEAKER_02: First down.
- 2:31SPEAKER_02: We got game balls, got another win, gonna give out some game balls.
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: Second down, what changed in that awesome second half?
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: Third down, we got Tennessee coming to town on Sunday, and then fourth down, we do want to talk about our boy Jamar Chase, leadership, halftime, all the above want to still talk about that.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: So, Brian, first down, game balls.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm gonna give my game ball to the offensive line.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: I thought they were fantastic.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: Uh, you know, especially I think they were actually really good all game, but that that second half they stand out because you know, Joe got got really hot.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Um but that's that's that's been a the first time in a long time where when Joe was dropping back to pass, uh I wasn't there about mid-second half.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: I wasn't yelling, get the ball out, get the ball out.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: I was like, oh, Joe could Joe can take his time, go through his progressions if he needs to.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: And uh the offensive line, yes, I mean Joe's talented, obviously, he can spin it, but the the offensive line allowed that to happen.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: Um, allowed Joe and the receivers to show if we're getting if we're given time and we're dialed in, like, good luck to and I don't care what your defense is ranked in the league, it's it's good luck.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: So offensive line, awesome.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: Amarius Mims, special shout out to him.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: He just continues to lock down the right side uh in the passing game, just looks like an absolute beast.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: We're we're in Halloween.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: He sees an he is a true, he is a living monster out there.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: If he wasn't such a nice guy and smiling all the time in interviews, uh he you I think everybody would be definitely afraid of him.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: I think NFL defenses are he's just a beast.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Uh protecting Joe's front side, allowing Joe to step up in the pocket when he needs to.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: So offensive line, fantastic job.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: Let's keep it going.
- 4:26SPEAKER_02: Great shout out to the O-line and so appropriate.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: That was wonderful to see.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: Loved the video highlights on the sideline of Burrow just coming over to the offensive line and screaming with them.
- 4:40SPEAKER_02: They all knew what was going on, and Joe loved it.
- 4:43SPEAKER_02: Brant.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: Uh, I love the offensive line shout-out.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: Like it's just been unreal this year.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: So uh great job, Brian.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: Mine's gonna be T.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: Higgins.
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: Just the second half that T.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: Higgins had didn't get a target in the first half, and to then just come out and explode with six receptions, 148 yards, and one tutty in the second half, just insane.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: And just specifically the the catches that he made.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: So I would highlight the toe tap over along the sideline was a deep, like you know, out uh that that Joe threw to him.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: Uh it he just has such good awareness to catch the ball, and he knows the safety is coming over and has that chance to hit him and knock him out of bounds.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: But just to do the quick one-two, get the feet down and still catch the ball, get knocked out of bounds.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: It's just superb wide receiver play.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: And I think people need to understand like just how good he is, and that it's not hyperbole when people say he he could be a number one on so many teams.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: So that catch, the the catch across the middle was my favorite, though.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: The one where Joe throws the anticipation throw, and you see Roquan, and they must have had this on tape, and I think maybe it was a dagger route, right?
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: And T's running the dagger, and Joe.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: This is where I want to I just want to ask Joe, and I don't know if anybody's asked him, but like, did you hesitate maybe any like even for a second?
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: Because you so saw Roquan sitting in the middle right there.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: Joe almost it looks like he might be even throwing the ball to Roquan.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: And T comes across, goes right behind Roquan, and then just sticks his hands right in front and plucks it away from him.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: And you can almost see Roquan's like shoulders just go down, like, what the heck just happened?
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: And you know, it's a 15-20-yard game, but just guys, the cojones to throw that ball.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't think people understand the level of quarterback play that it takes to throw that ball, and then the trust that he has with T that he's gonna make this play on a timing route when it looks like the ball's thrown right to the other team.
- 7:15SPEAKER_01: It's insane.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: So then the touchdown, what a great schematic! Just styled up, knew that they were shading Jamar, had Kyle Hamilton lined up on him outside leverage, and Joe was just like, This is like taking candy from a baby.
- 7:32SPEAKER_01: Like, just make it easier, please.
- 7:35SPEAKER_01: So, uh last point I would make about just how good T has been this year.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: Guys, he has moved ahead of Tyler Boyd for eighth place on the all-time receiving yards list for franchise history.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: So T is climbing the list and is get catching up to Jamar.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: So uh he's been a great just player addition in showing everybody he was worth that number one money, just like Jamar was.
- 8:06SPEAKER_02: Loved, we were talking before the podcast about just keep bringing in dudes.
- 8:12SPEAKER_02: Everyone said, can't do it with two stud receivers paying all that kind of money.
- 8:17SPEAKER_02: Again, once again, incorrect when you have those special talents.
- 8:21SPEAKER_02: And shout out to T.
- 8:22SPEAKER_02: Higgins, uh, the Bob, the celebration fan track.
- 8:29SPEAKER_02: Those guys have way too much fun.
- 8:32SPEAKER_02: Absolutely love their creativity on that side.
- 8:36SPEAKER_02: Um, I want to go Jamar because of not only his performance, but somebody yelling for all of us Bengals fans at halftime, everything we wanted to say.
- 8:47SPEAKER_02: I think Jamar channeled and said for us to this team.
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: But I'm gonna give the game ball to Trey Hendrickson because had Trey not been as dramatic as he was in the offseason, we don't bring in Boye Mafe.
- 9:04SPEAKER_02: We probably don't make the move for Dexter Lawrence like we did.
- 9:08SPEAKER_02: A lot of these other dominoes that came into place were freed up, not only because of the money, but I think in turn we realized hold on, no, we're not doing this, and we're not gonna be held hostage every year playing Trey's games and him saying, Well, as a Christian, I forgive the Bengals.
- 9:26SPEAKER_02: Trey, we want to know you, we want to tell you, as the three of us being Christians, we would like to say, God bless you, and we wish you nothing but the best the rest of the season.
- 9:36SPEAKER_02: Your stat line was zeros across the board.
- 9:39SPEAKER_02: Congratulations for your 30 million bucks or whatever you're getting.
- 9:43SPEAKER_02: Hope you're saving, hope you're spending.
- 9:45SPEAKER_02: Game ball, Trey Hendrickson.
- 9:47SPEAKER_02: Second down, Brant, what changed that second half?
- 9:51SPEAKER_02: Sorry, I had to do it.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: I'm still uh I'm still taking that in from uh you just you know targeting Trey with that one.
- 9:59SPEAKER_01: Uh I'm gonna say, I'm gonna say what really changed in the second half was uh offense, uh schematic and really just Joe deciphering what Baltimore was trying to do to us from a defensive side, uh, from a defense, the defensive side of the ball.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: Uh Joe's a supercomputer, everybody knows it.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: Just you know, it it almost made me feel like you know how Joe just takes it takes two or three games for him to really kind of boot up that computer.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: Like it's it's just maybe you know, catching some updates, or it's you know, you get in the death spiral for a little bit, you know, in the first couple weeks.
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: I think it was just a microcosm of like Joe had a week off.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: He just, you know, the first half was just, you know, the the computer's booting, guys.
- 10:50SPEAKER_01: We're gonna be fine.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: You know, Windows is gonna pop up, you're gonna be able to get the word or excel.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: But just just give it give me a little patience, and that's exactly what happened.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: Joe went in the halftime, you know.
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: Shout out to Pitcher and Zach.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: Uh, I wasn't saying very nice things about any of them in the first half, but second half, uh, that's what I think playoff caliber and Super Bowl winning caliber teams have to do is recognize what's happening, make some adjustments, and then go make plays.
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: And that's exactly what they did.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: Um, and I think the the biggest thing I would highlight, and there's a lot been a lot of good social media videos that have been put out this this uh week because of those adjustments and what uh they did schematic wise on offense, but I would encourage everybody to go watch some of them.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: But they really realized that they were they were just trying to bracket Jamar, just all the I mean almost every play, and the big words gravity, right?
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: Big word gravity this week and the gravity that Jamar has for the rest of the defense.
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: Finally, we were like, you know what?
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: We're just gonna depend on our other guys on the other side of the field, mainly T, and we're just gonna dice you up with all of our other weapons.
- 12:09SPEAKER_01: And Joe did it.
- 12:11SPEAKER_01: So, you know, pick your poison.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: But when you got one of the most accurate passers in the history of the NFL throwing the ball, let him sling the rock.
- 12:21SPEAKER_02: Well, that agree, I also did appreciate Joe didn't look he looked frustrated ticked, but he didn't look frustrated going into halftime.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: You knew he was gonna come out doing what he did.
- 12:34SPEAKER_02: Uh, he doesn't have an angry face, he more has a face of like enough is enough.
- 12:40SPEAKER_02: Joke's over, it's time for the kids, the uh the adults to get to work.
- 12:44SPEAKER_02: Brian.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, uh, before I get into one last one last point with the offense, I thought the first touchdown to Gesecki really kind of helped tell the story.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: Um we've we always clamor for for the you know coaches to make it easy for Joe.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: How do we make this easy?
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: It was a simple combo route.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: He has he has Gasecki lined up outside, size advantage running a corner route into the end zone, and and Chase Brown running into the flat.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: It's an easy decision.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: If the guy, if the guy that's picking up Chase drops, and you kind of bracket Gasecki, you drop it off to Chase Brown, you get yards, maybe even score.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: Or if he stays like he did, you know, not an easy catch.
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: Great play by Mike Gosecki, but just the design makes it easy for Joe.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: You got you got, you know, it's an easy decision based on what the defense does, and it was a quarterback that good, the processes that fast, it was easy pick-ins.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: Um, but I'm gonna give uh shout out for the second half to the defense.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: Uh, they played first half, they holding them the field goals is what kept us in the game.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: And then the second half, first half, the Baltimore Ravens were eight of eleven on third down.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: Second half, one for five.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: Add in there two fourth down stops, so one for seven and a pick.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: Uh, so that those were the Ravens' drives.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: Really, only one drive they could have scored on if they decided to kick the field goal.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: They go for it on fourth down.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: DJ Ivey probably should have had a pick six on that because there was a lot of green grass in front of them.
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: Hunley may have been the only one to catch him.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, sacks in the second half, Dexter closing it out with just you know, swallowing Hunley hole on there.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: But the defense was awesome.
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: Uh allowed the you know, Cape Gavin Joe and that offense the ball and going five for five, all touchdowns for the offense.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: Just incredible second half.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: Shows what this team is capable of.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: Uh, a lot to be excited about.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: Now, if they can just channel all of that and be consistent for four quarters of football going forward, uh, you know, we'll take it.
- 14:53SPEAKER_02: So right on the defense.
- 14:55SPEAKER_02: That field goal, I text you both.
- 14:56SPEAKER_02: The stopping him to a field goal before the half was huge.
- 15:01SPEAKER_02: I love the fact that not only did we put 35 straight points on him offensively in the second half, but the defense didn't give up a single point.
- 15:08SPEAKER_02: I felt that was appropriate for the effort that Brian just shared and was given.
- 15:14SPEAKER_02: This is all we begged for the last two years with our offense, minus when Joe was hurt, even though Flacco played, I thought, really well.
- 15:22SPEAKER_02: But those two years was have a solid defense, get off the field, create a turnover.
- 15:29SPEAKER_02: We're seeing that now.
- 15:31SPEAKER_02: And I think we're just seeing the tip of the iceberg, and we're already leading the league in sacks.
- 15:37SPEAKER_02: Good things to come, gentlemen.
- 15:40SPEAKER_02: Brian, third down.
- 15:41SPEAKER_02: We got Tennessee on Sunday.
- 15:44SPEAKER_02: How are we beating him?
- 15:45SPEAKER_02: How are we keeping this thing rolling?
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: You know, as much as we just talked about the defense, uh, the offense has a time has a chance to really dominate this game.
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: Uh, Tennessee's, I think, 26th in the league in rushing defense.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: It'd be really nice.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: Uh, as much as I love watching Joe spin the ball, it'd be really nice to watch uh 30 and 34 just eat up chunks of yardage uh and then make it really easy on third down for Joe to just find whoever's open and keep moving the chains.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: Uh that secondary is not the best secondary in the league either.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: So a lot of opportunity for the offense to get out ahead.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: Defense come out hot early.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: This team is most dangerous when they can play with the lead.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: Uh, and that defensive line can start to eat, make it make it really difficult.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: It's been a rough season for Cam Ward.
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: We need to continue that and make it even more difficult.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: Right now, there's only two Bengals that have interceptions on the year, if I'm correct.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: And Mr.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: Knight, a linebacker, and and Mr.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: Battle.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: Uh, say what you want about him, but he does lead the team with three interceptions.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: Uh, so Ivy, you're gonna get you're gonna get one thrown to you.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: You do every game, you haven't caught one yet.
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: Use your hands, take it, take a note from Jamar and T.
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: Use your hands, not your chest.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: Shoulder pads are pretty stiff.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: That ball hits them, you're gonna lose it.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: Uh, or Turner or Mr.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: Hill, Mr.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: Cook, somebody join the interception ranks and and get on these guys early.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: Crowd's gonna be into it coming off a win like that.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: Crowd's gonna show up and show out.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: So jump on this team early.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: Don't even let them, don't even let them out of the gate.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: Uh, that's what you have to do.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: Be more physical, like we were in the second half, and uh Bengals should move on to five and two.
- 17:34SPEAKER_02: You know what?
- 17:34SPEAKER_02: You're so right.
- 17:35SPEAKER_02: I was just texting before the podcast.
- 17:37SPEAKER_02: Brooke Walter lives in uh mom's neighborhood.
- 17:40SPEAKER_02: Shout out, but yeah, he's super excited already for getting ready to go to the game.
- 17:44SPEAKER_02: You come off a win like that, you're right.
- 17:45SPEAKER_02: The crowd's gonna be ready to go.
- 17:47SPEAKER_02: Capitalize on that.
- 17:48SPEAKER_02: Brant.
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I love what Brian's saying.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: Uh, I think the offense, this is when we really start to hit our stride.
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: So uh, you know, if if they come out and play even like 75-80% of what they did against Baltimore, we we win going away against uh the Titans.
- 18:08SPEAKER_01: However, against any of these teams where you you just you know on paper, you're you you mean you're they're outmatched.
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: You just you can't open the door, you can't make them believe, you can't make an early mistake, an early turnover.
- 18:23SPEAKER_01: So I think we've been really good lately at not turning the ball over.
- 18:28SPEAKER_01: Specifically, Joe's not putting the ball in harm's way.
- 18:30SPEAKER_01: We got real lucky with uh Myers putting the ball on the ground on the kickoff.
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: That could have been just a backbreaker, but just continue to protect the ball.
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: Special teams has been playing a lot better, and uh shout out to Ryan Rico for getting his special teams player of the week.
- 18:51SPEAKER_01: Uh well earned is kicking the ball and no touchbacks yet this year.
- 18:57SPEAKER_01: I mean, the starting field position for uh the Baltimore Ravens in that game was just insane, you know, pinning them down constantly, which you gotta love doing that when you're playing a uh a backup quarterback.
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: So special teams continue to play well, don't turn the ball over, and then you guys know how much I love defense, and maybe we're turning over a new leaf, but tackling is getting better.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: It's getting a little bit better, fellas.
- 19:28SPEAKER_02: Your Oklahoma drills work during the uh during the bye week.
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, smash some heads.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: Oklahoma drill, get up on the whistle, you know, find who you gotta go hit and hit, wrap up.
- 19:40SPEAKER_01: But uh here's here's your stat for defense for the week.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: We are up to 15th in missed tackle rate per PFF at 11.1%.
- 19:52SPEAKER_01: So right there in the middle of the pack.
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: Not the worst, not the best, but I can live with in the middle of the pack.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: So we're getting better there.
- 20:03SPEAKER_01: Continue to tackle, put people on the ground, make them earn yards, don't give up yak, and we'll be fine.
- 20:10SPEAKER_01: Agree with that.
- 20:11SPEAKER_02: Love the term, don't open the door.
- 20:13SPEAKER_02: Somebody that's struggling.
- 20:14SPEAKER_02: Cleveland did it for him last week.
- 20:16SPEAKER_02: Cleveland opened the door for him, gave him a chance, gave them confidence, let them hang around.
- 20:22SPEAKER_02: Cleveland ended up winning, but they needed a last-second field goal to do so.
- 20:26SPEAKER_02: Don't want to see the same thing for the Bengals.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: Think this would be good to continue to keep this momentum rolling.
- 20:32SPEAKER_02: It is the Ring of Honor game.
- 20:34SPEAKER_02: Our boy James Brooks and Bob Trumpy going in.
- 20:38SPEAKER_02: So, again, the crowd's gonna be there.
- 20:40SPEAKER_02: They're gonna be super excited.
- 20:42SPEAKER_02: We're gonna, Jeffrey Simmons is gonna play minimal amount of snaps because he's just gonna stay in Cincinnati uh to negotiate that trade, Brant.
- 20:51SPEAKER_02: You're responsible for that.
- 20:52SPEAKER_02: I would watch Carnell Tate coming home to Ohio, wanting to put on a show, but I think this is what, like you're saying, just lock DJ Turner up on this kid.
- 21:04SPEAKER_02: Get his confidence down.
- 21:05SPEAKER_02: Don't let him give his family this performance.
- 21:07SPEAKER_02: He can go get it somewhere else.
- 21:09SPEAKER_02: And let's get another W and keep this thing rolling.
- 21:11SPEAKER_02: Fourth down, Brand.
- 21:13SPEAKER_02: Let's talk Jamar Chase's leadership.
- 21:16SPEAKER_02: What you got?
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I love that Jamar was the one to speak up.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: I think everybody, you know, uh the stereotype exists.
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: Like it's got to be the quarterback or it's got to be the head coach.
- 21:29SPEAKER_01: But Jamar and the type of person he is, and his personality and the leader that he is, just you couldn't ask for anything more out of a wide receiver like him.
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: A number one, uh, you know, best in the NFL.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: So we we've already kind of talked about it, guys.
- 21:44SPEAKER_01: We got our butts kicked in the first half.
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: We were out gained 258 to 59 yards.
- 21:50SPEAKER_01: Worst half in Joe Burrow's uh career so far in terms of yards output.
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: So, but I think Jamar speaking up and just Showing how selfless he is.
- 22:02SPEAKER_01: And he could have maybe gone over there and really kind of lit into the defense, but he really focused on the offense.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: And specifically really saying someone needs to make a play.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: We can't look at our defense the whole time.
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: Someone's gotta step up.
- 22:20SPEAKER_01: This ish is uh is up in uh we have to give this ish up and make something work.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: So I mean it does not get any better than you know a number one receiver, like I said, top dog in the NFL, just showing you that he's got the leadership chops and that he's willing to just put himself out there and lead by example, but then also be a vocal leader.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: And really, I mean, doing Zach's job for him a little bit, and I love that maybe Zach didn't, you know, that was enough.
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: It sounded like Zach was like Jamar set the tone, and that's all we needed.
- 23:01SPEAKER_01: It wouldn't have been coming from Zach.
- 23:04SPEAKER_02: It wouldn't have been the same.
- 23:05SPEAKER_02: Brent, you hit the nail on the head.
- 23:07SPEAKER_02: Uh, not only is he so looked upon because of his performance and and the type of person he is, but he is not a yeller and a screamer, he is fun, happy going.
- 23:17SPEAKER_02: And so when he flipped that switch, I'm sure the offense that was a wake-up call for them, wouldn't have been the same from Zach's voice in that moment, Brian.
- 23:27SPEAKER_00: No, I love it.
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: I love it from Jamar.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: The thing that I love about it is somebody had like somebody had to say it.
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: I think they all realize it, but somebody had to remind them like we're we've been talking about it from heck the draft.
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: Like, we want to be a Super Bowl team, we want to be a championship team.
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: We've got all the talent in the world.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: And Jamar finally said, well, it's time to start acting like it.
- 23:52SPEAKER_00: Like, let's wake up and go.
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: I felt that energy, that early, I think the first day of camp where where Jamar got got into a little scuffle with his teammates, it was like that.
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: Uh, I think feeling like Jamar kind of let them know, like, hey, we need to we need to let the Ravens know who we are, like and what we're about.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: Right now, they're they're letting everybody know that the Bengals are who everyone thinks they are talented on paper, but you know, they they always mess around and end up finding out and making all us fans sad.
- 24:23SPEAKER_00: And and Jamar kind of, I think, said, enough is enough.
- 24:27SPEAKER_00: If we really want to take this division, you know, by the horns and be a playoff caliber team and eventually a championship level team, then it starts right now.
- 24:37SPEAKER_00: And credit for him, and then going out and playing like it.
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: What you know, he had catches in the second half, he had a touchdown in the second half, and then Brent you know used the term earlier, uh, gravity.
- 24:49SPEAKER_00: The gravity that Jamar carries.
- 24:51SPEAKER_00: Uh, he took on the weight of the team to be a leader, and then he's taken on coverages so T Higgins and others, uh, including the greatest second-round pick in Bengals history, Drew Sample having about the easiest touchdown I've ever seen in the NFL.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: Uh, all of us talking today and all of us listening could have scored on that play.
- 25:09SPEAKER_00: So uh credit to Jamar stepping up, being a leader.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: He's not a super vocal guy, um, but unless he's talking craft to DBs.
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: Um, but I love it.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: Uh it just felt felt not only in performance, but it just felt the vibe of the team felt so much different after that second half performance.
- 25:27SPEAKER_00: Just hope they continue that vibe uh all week, and they keep reminding each other of who they are and who they can be.
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: So exciting, it's it's exciting.
- 25:36SPEAKER_00: I can't wait for Sunday.
- 25:39SPEAKER_02: Fans forget, and I think players kind of fall into this category sometimes too, how precious every week is.
- 25:46SPEAKER_02: And Jamar has such a gift of reading the room.
- 25:50SPEAKER_02: Credit and shout out to his parents.
- 25:52SPEAKER_02: I'm sure that they've had numerous conversations in his upbringing, but that is a complete reflection of him getting an understanding what's going on, what the team needs.
- 26:02SPEAKER_02: And then Brian used the example with Drew Sample scoring.
- 26:05SPEAKER_02: Not only did Jamar perform, but then it opens up other top uh other opportunities for somebody else.
- 26:11SPEAKER_02: That's why you got Orlando Brown, who has played for other Super Bowl teams and other championship quality teams in Baltimore and Kansas City.
- 26:19SPEAKER_02: And yet now he's out there saying this week, bury me a bengal.
- 26:23SPEAKER_02: Because when you get those kind of guys that you know not only are yelling and screaming, but it's for the betterment of the team, that is easy to buy into and to get excited to come back to work.
- 26:33SPEAKER_02: I have a feeling those guys could not wait to get back to work, even though it's Tennessee.
- 26:39SPEAKER_02: It's still another wonderful opportunity.
- 26:41SPEAKER_02: Let's stay healthy, let's keep having fun, let's not turn the ball over, let's not open the door for Tennessee.
- 26:48SPEAKER_02: Let's keep this momentum rolling.
- 26:50SPEAKER_02: You both are the best.
- 26:52SPEAKER_02: And who day all day.
