- Kim Bobbitt: We're back. First Bond React for a full episode of Voice Notes After Dark. Round of applause. Yay. So our guest this week is going to be Janielle Cookie. She is a author, screen ⁓ script writer. She is also a voice actress, an actress. She's amazing. And we wanted to do a blind. Cosplayer too. She does amazing stuff. ⁓ she's a great cosplayer too. That's so true. ⁓ so we wanted to do a react to one of her audios. So this is an audio with her and guest from episode two, Flynn. So who are both they're both voice actors in her audiobook, Echoes in Obsidian, which is one of the reasons why we're doing this series of episodes about this amazing book. So I'm gonna let B tell you about this audio. Okay, so this is called the Solstice Summer Tournament. ⁓ Okay. And it is MF4A. So it's got both Lynn and Danielle in it. Medieval Fantasy, Dialect, Story, Former Lovers, Joust, Under the Stars. Talk her through. ⁓ Cuddling. It looks quite very romantic. Sounds fabulous. Veromantic. We love a romantic. ⁓ banter. There's banter. ⁓ we love banter. Yes. Banter. And it's 16 minutes long and it's up on Flynn's Patreon. Yeah. In the things. Links will be in the show notes for sure. Links will be in the things. Links will be in the things. Okay, we're gonna start listening and we'll have commentary along the way. Okay. And Ferris Maiden my ass just about took me out. I love that so Just like just really under a breath like Ferris Maiden my ass. Like we would so say that, but like, ⁓ shut up. Just a little snort. Just be like, yeah, okay. Okay, okay, bro. Okay, nice story. Whatever, moving on. I know you. Mm-hmm. I got your number. That one took me cheeky bastard. That took me by surprise. That was a great line. Cheek Cheeky bastard. We have a little mystery. I know I wanted to tell it. I wanna know what happens. I need to know what happens. I need to know happens. I didn't know this was a cliffhanger. No. How dare! Rude. How rude? We need episode two immediately. I know. ⁓ okay. Let's talk about it. That was a whole ass story. Like It was. It was not what I was expecting. ⁓ great sound effects. Amazing sound effects. I mean just like down to like What's with the tuxedo mask swishing away thing? Like a like a fucking Zorro taking escape. It was great. And the like walking, but like where you can hear like a sword like hitting, you know, that's that's those little details are very good. Very good. Footsteps, the music's The music in the background, like you can hear the party going on in the background. That was great. Yeah. Yeah. I love her character so much though. I do too. No, I love it. Banter So funny. Banter promised and delivered. Like a hundred percent. We we got the banter. They were adorable. She is hilarious. Danielle's so funny. So funny. She delivered those jabs and those little quips, like just so good. It was great. Yeah, it was a whole story. It was good though. It was very good. I mean, like I literally want to know what happens. Yeah, I know. I'm almost a little angry. I'm a little upset. I'm just kidding. ⁓ also, can we just say we love a man who wants to be smothered? That was so that was so, so good. Like the alarm in her voice. We love a king who wants to be smothered. Yes. Yes, king. Yes. We love you. What was the thigh comment? ⁓ ⁓ yeah. Guys are stronger than the last time they held me. Held my face? Yeah, than the last time then they were around my head or something. I think it was held my face, which is so like insane way to put it. I mean like Danielle, yes. Great, great writing. Great writing. Great writing. Amazing. Since the last time they held my face. How did you feel about the ⁓ sound effects? I wasn't I wasn't that bothered by them. Yeah, you seemed you seemed relatively okay. And that was a lot of a lot of mouth movement. Well Mouse stuff wasn't they weren't front it wasn't front and center, was it? It was it was it was yeah background to Yeah. Well done. Very well done. I love I I mean I think Danielle definitely wrote that really well. This is the first audio that we've listened to that is you know has of both a male and female actor in it. And that was interesting, made it, you know, more like a Kind of like a book, like we're used to, you know, duet narration kind of thing. ⁓ but yeah, I'm into it. I'm into it. I want to know what happens. Yeah. Sixteen minutes. Not I will be texting Danielle. Yeah. I need to know what happens, Danielle. Like what WTF lady. How dare you send us a cliffhanger? Like what? Rude. Okay. Let's write this sixteen minute. Basically audio drama, let's be real. ⁓ I c I can't believe it was only sixteen minutes. That's a whole story. It's a whole story. So let's rate Okay, what do you give a story? Story, I mean five. Mm-hmm. Definitely. It was so so good. So cute. I love it. I give it a five two. What about sound? Sound. That definitely five. It was just it was elaborate. It really was. It was the music far more elaborate. And I mean a lot of background and sounds for such a short audio. I mean, you got tons of footsteps, rustling blankets and clothes. I mean, music in the background, jousting sounds, I mean tons of rebelry. Yeah. Tons of switches going on. Yeah. No, I think it was great. Very well done. Very well done. I mean performance. Definitely five. They were they were so good together. Yeah, they did. Banter promised, banter delivered. Great performance by both of them. It was so cute. okay. Level of death. Maybe a maybe a one, 'cause it was it was de it was definitely it was st it was story, wasn't it? This was very story based. ⁓ obviously there was chemistry, obviously there was some smothering going on, but as far as on the spice side, we were a little lower on the spicy side, which is fine. Loved it. ⁓ I think most of my death just comes from the fact that I don't know what happened. And I'm upset about it. So I'm gonna give it a two. One for the really well done sound effects during spicy time and one for how dare you leave me hanging how dare you Danielle I I I agree. I would like to share that that other one with you. Yeah. Yeah. I think that I think that's appropriate. Okay. Great audio. I mean super fun. It's on Flynn's Patreon. I'm assuming there's more. This sounds like it's gonna be a whole ass story. So ⁓ yeah. Join Flynn's Patreon so you can hear it because honestly, it was great. And I I'm in loving Flynn's voice, so I'm sure the rest of his content is great as well. Stay tuned for our interview with Danielle. And then after that we will chat about what we've been reading. where we're at with some what audios we've been listening to, what books we've been listening to, and give you kind of our weekly update. And then that'll be it. All right, coming up, our interview with Danielle Cookie. Thank you. Bye bye. Welcome to Voice Notes After Dark episode. ⁓ no. What? We finally have a full episode and we have our friend Danielle Cookie here. For to talk about her book, Episode ⁓ Echoes, ⁓ Episode Echoes in Obsidian. ⁓ which Bee happens to have right there. ⁓ look at that. ⁓ tabulated. Tabulated, highlighted, and annotated. Cool. ⁓ I can't wait to read some of those tabs. I heard about this book from Bee. Bee told me all about it. She's like, hey, you need to go check out this Kickstarter. ⁓ my friend's writing wrote this book and she's doing audio and the audio is gonna have all these amazing AE creators in it. And I was like, holy what, let's go look at it. So I went and checked it out immediately, like, yes, click support, let's go. And then when we started trying to do this podcast, B and I were like, Of course, we just need to have them all on so we can talk about this book because what an amazing way to bridge the gap, which is what we're trying to do. between you know the AE space and the audiobook space. So this just was all so perfect. It worked out so well for what we're trying to do here. I'm so thankful that you agreed to let us kind of have your book as like our first like little special spotlight for our podcast. So I really appreciate you letting us do that, Danielle. So welcome Danielle. Of course. Who is a amazing cosplayer? She is an author. She is doing voice the voice acting in her book. Like, is there anything that Danielle doesn't do? I don't know. She does it all. Thank you. So we're so excited to have you here. And I have not read the book yet. So I'm going in completely blind for the audio. Like, how crazy is it that you know you got at cast Atlas in your book and obviously he was not nearly as popular as he is now. Now this dude has like, you know, over a million plays on on Quinn and he's just like rising in popularity. And now you have him in your book. And I know that that wasn't something that you planned on when you asked him to do it. So I mean that's amazing. Are you so excited? I yeah, I am so incredibly ⁓ excited and grateful and thankful to have have Atlas work on this project because he ⁓ yeah, he's what, he's in like three other audiobooks now besides mine, which is like insane. Insane. ⁓ but but yeah, I like he's just really is so incredibly talented. I'm really I'm really happy and very lucky that he ⁓ said yes. Yeah. I listened to Atlas on Quinn, but he was like under like a different name or something. So I was actually I was talking to ⁓ Branda Parker who kind of helped me ⁓ because I was like talking to her about the book because she was one of my art readers and I was like, So this was originally like I always knew this was gonna be an art audiobook, but I have no idea. I don't know any voice actors. I don't know anyone who would want to do voice acting or like, you know, audiobook narration. And ⁓ I just like don't know. Do you know of any like like all I know is who I've heard on Quinn? And it was funny because she mentioned Atlas and I was like, Who the fuck is Atlas? I don't know this guy. And then listened to one of his audios and I was like, No, I wrote this guy. It was just it was under like a different name. Yes. And I was and then I like listened to more of his stuff and I was like, No, this guy is like actually personal. Dude. Like he has a great voice. Come on. Like Ridiculous. Ridiculous. And I mean, and so now you have this insane cast. You've got, I mean, you who is freaking phenomenal. We've got Atlas. We've got Flynn. We've got Dahl. I mean, come on, this is a crazy cast you have in this book. Like it's so cool. So you're a cosplayer, you're an author, like you do so much different stuff. So like Were you originally a book reader? Were you did you start out as a cosplayer and then kind of get into that? How did you get into all of these spaces? ⁓ so I think the how I got into well, I started writing started writing before I did cosplay because I remember I was in high school when I made my first cosplay. It was like it was a link cosplay. And at the time I didn't know how to sew, so I used like stitch witchery and I just like ironed like a tunic together, which didn't work because of stitch witchery. But ⁓ I mean, which is fine, like for certain things, but not for like, you know, sewing an entire tunic. ⁓ so I remember my my sister, ⁓ cause we would like we would play the Assassin's Creed games and like I would also watch her play the Assassin's Creed games, and she was like, People go to like Anime convention than dress up as character. We should do that. And I was like, okay, do that. Okay. So she when I was allti-air and I would go with Ezio. Like I ⁓ I ordered a costume so it was like custom fit and now it like it like barely fits, but still like kind of fits. It's like your wedding dress. It's like it kind of fits, but yeah. ⁓ my gosh, yeah. Yeah. Like I don't need to like button all the buttons. ⁓ I started doing that in high school. Writing I've just like always been writing. I guess. Like I remember ⁓ I think like the first thing I wrote I like it must have been like six or seven. And I think it was like a short poem about like I I don't even remember what it was about. I think it was about like the sunrise or something. But I remember I always liked writing, racing. I always liked ⁓ anime. And then of course I discovered fan fiction. Yes. So I started writing fanfiction. And then I just like it kind of like slowly grew into like more stuff. I think like which you guys pr probably I don't think anyone really knows about this book, but it's called The Duchess and the Thief. I published it like all the way back in twenty seventeen. And then I took it off the publishing market because I want to rewrite it. But that one, that one, ⁓ I think I like had like a a little dream in high school and then I like expanded on it. And then I rewrote it in college. And then after I graduated, I published it and then I took it off because I want to rewrite the whole thing. ⁓ kind of. But ⁓ I did that and then I think like audio production, I got I was really interested in ⁓ singing what ever since like I was like a little ever since I was like I don't know like three I would I would always sing in front of like my whole family. And I'd be like, I'm gonna sing and I'm gonna be a singer and then like I have I think it's like right in my cabinet, I have like a whole folder of like scraps of lyrics of songs like I've been like writing down since I literally could write. And ⁓ I bought like a pre-Sonos ⁓ bundle. So it came with headphones, mic, audio box software. And ⁓ I started like we would do like Disney mashups and I would like play around with those and I would just like Disney together. Me too. Me too. And Disney Mashups were like huge when I was in high school. So we would do that and then ⁓ I would just start like when when I ⁓ enter in competitions, I would I would remix my own tracks. So like when you go on stage, you have like your own backing track and I would put a song there and I would like add the characters dialogue and stuff and I would like add sound effects or stuff like that. So I really ⁓ I really enjoyed doing that. I actually I used all the same equipment. I used all of it to record this audiobook. Wow. That's amazing. That's so cool. Thank you. Thank you. So you're a sound nerd like we are, obviously. You love like creating sound, editing sound, that kind of stuff. So that's awesome. I have a problem with taking on too much work. We all have trouble like just stopping. Yeah. Like even I think Atlas told me about it because I'm like so on top of my emails and my messages. Like it doesn't matter where I am if somebody like messages me, I will respond. I'm the same way. Like I will respond. And like ⁓ It sounds like if somebody as busy as Atlas is telling you to slow the fuck down. Yeah. You need to slow the fuck down. Yeah. Like I know it, I know it. Like if he ⁓ it's he's so He's so sweet, honestly, because he ⁓ he was like, I know you have a lot on your plate and I understand you have a lot on your plate and you're not trying to like overwhelm us or anything like that, and you're not trying to like be too controlling. I understand this is how you are, but I need you to just slow down. Yeah. And I was like You're like, whatever you say. I'll try. Can you send me that in a voice note? You're like, could you say that one more time? I need to get my phone out and record it. Like just like, you know, so I could I need it for my daily affirmations. Yeah. I need this playing while I'm staring in the mirror every morning. Literally. Like it's okay to take a break. Yeah. It's it's ⁓ rest is not a luxury. It is mandatory. Rest is mandatory, not a luxury. Yeah. 'Cause it is. Yeah. If you don't take time to rest, you're gonna your your body's gonna make you. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. Just it's so hard when you're when you're chasing an actual dream, like when you are just trying to make the one thing that you want to happen, when you're trying to make it happen, it feels like if you let off the gas for even a second, that could be the reason why it doesn't happen. But I mean it is it's it's so hard, especially when you're you know an indie author or any doing anything where you are doing it all by yourself. It's so hard to just take your foot off the gas at any moment in time because you do feel like it could just make or break, you know, every aspect of what you're doing. And it's it it feels that way. Even if it's not that way, it feels that way. So yeah, I get it. That's why it's so hard to just stop and take a break and, you know, take care of yourself. So book two is also going to be coming out, correct? It is. Book two is coming out in September. my copy editor currently has it right now. It unfortunately may have to be pushed back a little bit further than the tenth. But the tenth is the goal for publication. ⁓ regard and we do I it's not we. I keep saying we like there's somebody helping me. There is no one helping Just you, babe. ⁓ Hi. You I'm doing another ⁓ Kickstarter for the sequel to Echoes and Obsidian. It is called Secrets in Cyan. Secrets in Cyan will have a Kickstarter running from August 2nd to September 1st. It will be all physical rewards, signed copies of Secrets and Cyan, along with ⁓ exclusive bonus content, art prints, both new and old. So you get to see all the new artwork that I've had commissioned, which is like so cool. ⁓ And then there's also going to be a ritual card that you can get with your obsidian tumblestone. Which I will charge through sound. and it's like a whole like little like it takes you through a whole relaxing reading ritual. And ⁓ it's in the last tier, the most expensive tier, because ⁓ I've worked super, super, super hard on this ⁓ with a man who I actually met at the Canime Convention. I visit him every year and I have like a collection of his perfume. He does character perfumes. and he incorporates like different like for example, he did ⁓ the Greek Pantheon. So he incorporated everyone's personality, their environment, their lore, like how they dress. And it's just like it's so interesting and like just incredible at the amount of work and detail that he puts into these perfumes. So obviously. I had to have him make a Luca Sentis perfume. Obviously. And this is it. So cool. So cute. Ugh. I'm very, ⁓ very happy about him. He smells like obviously sea salt and sandalwood. But he also has peonies, ⁓ because peonies are his favorite flower and he mentions that. I'm not gonna tell you how he mentions that, but I mean you'll find out. And then ⁓ peonies, there is night air, autumn harvest wreath, and a wash of leather. That sounds yummy. I've been wearing it last like months straight. That's gonna be that that's gonna be in my house soon. I I am definitely going to make sure that that I am having that. Yes. I'll have one of those, please. Like it's just, yeah. And there's also exclusive bonus content for the audiobook that's on there. That is narrated the first from the first book, it's narrated by Doll. And then the second book, I have it narrated by Atlas. Yes. I'm putting this board to work. As someone who has not yet read Echoes and Obsidian. Can you give me a short little blurb about Echoes and Obsidian and what the story is and kind of what to look forward to in this in this book? So Echoes and Obsidian is about a book talk barista named Amity. One day she meets a mysterious man named Luca, who she discovers is actually a demon hunting witch, and he has been searching for the demon that stole her memories. He has until midnight on Halloween to find them, or they're lost forever. Okay, so mostly everyone who's read this book has asked me if I've seen Supernatural. I haven't. That's what everyone says. So if you like Supernatural, if you like Sabrina the Teenage Witch, if you like chilling adventures of Sabrina, if you like anything witchy or autumn or Octobery, or even I take a lot of inspiration from different anime. So I'm a huge, huge anime fan. ⁓ Demon Slayer. plays a big part in this because my demons are based off of Japanese yokai demons, which is like very different. Like you know, if you're talking about Christian Christian demons, if you're talking about Japanese demons, it's like very cool. Yeah. Yeah. So like ⁓ for example, like these demons, they can't come out in the sunlight. They they eat humans. They they also do a little bit of magic. So that's a lot of fun. Very cool. And yeah. I'm the one. Also, if you're a fan of Thank you. ⁓ I based ⁓ the magic system in Norse mythology too. ⁓ you will learn more about that in the sequel. I love so much this Like I can't I can't like I can't even be I want to tell you so much stuff and I can't tell you. Because I want you to be surprised. Yeah, don't tell me, don't do that. And this is why I could never be an author or a narrator. I do love anything that that's mythology based. Like that's like a that's like a thing for me. I love it so much. So that's so cool. Yeah, same. Yeah. Also I love how Amate like Amity like her anxiety, like Yes. Like from the beginning, I started like highlighting and pinning going, yep, girl, same. Girl same. Yeah, right. Ooh, girl, same. Yeah, I love a good so we got some good mental health rep. We love that. So the 16 minute audio took us on a journey. We enjoyed it so much. We loved your banter, your writing, your little sassy self. We had a blast with you. ⁓ we loved the sound effects, we loved the little background music and all the like ambiance we were Obsessed. And then and then you left us on a cliffhanger. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And we were just like, okay, and I told B, I was like, go okay, so tell ⁓ we need we need part two. Go tell ⁓ Okay. She was like part two last November. So it's there. It's so we're gonna have to talk to Flynn. Is that what you're saying? Who did who edited that? So ⁓ Flynn edited everything like because I wanted to do more audio erotica stuff because when I recorded my audition and like I added it together, I just thought it was fun. And I was like, this is cool and I like enjoy this. So like I should do it. And ⁓ I think I like subtly like brought it up. And he was like, No, no, no, let's do it. And I was like Yeah. I'll just create an entire Word document and I'll create like a table with like all the different tropes I can think of and then all the different subjects I can think of and you just highlight what you want, okay? And he's like, yeah, that sounds great. Like I'll take a look. And I was like, I already started writing, but like you don't have to like use this one. Like it's fine. I wrote a second one. It's actually gonna be three parts. Also, here's all the sound effects. I found a website that has all copyright-free sound effects that you can use. And here's all the specific places where you can use these sound effects. Also, I gave you three different examples. So in order to create this sound effect that I'm trying to describe to you, here's a complete step-by-step instruction guide on how to do that with Audacity because we use different programs. So you basically let me know what you think. I love that. I love that so much. ⁓ my god. And I was like so nervous to that because like I've never like done like nobody's preferred me to like stuff. So like I didn't know I I was like so nervous about how it would be perceived because like I've never been on Flynn's Patreon. I've never I don't know his audience. His audience doesn't know me. This is my first time ever doing stuff like this. And I was like constantly like I would like type out messages to him and then delete them and then type them out and then like delete. So wait, you didn't know that he was like you didn't know that he was known for the his whole nighty medieval thing. No, no, no, no, no. I did because when I yeah, because when I am very cautious of men on the internet. So when we started talking, I like immediately went to his page and I was like, who the fuck is this man? Right. Fair in the bottom. Yes, I did ⁓ I did know he was a knight. So are you wanting to do more voice work? Are you ⁓ what's your like I mean, obviously you have a lot of projects going on in in different arenas. So what is your like main goal? Like what's your main squeeze? What do you want to do the most? Do you wanna put out like more audios? Do you want to write more? Like where where's your heart right now? Well, ⁓ let's see, what's on my list for today? Jesus. It changes every day, is that what you're telling me? So, ⁓ B, you are a very technical person. I have with me higher calendar the whole year. This I made in December. This is everything that needs to be get done by month, by week that I have to do, just for the books. I wish I had your level of organized. ⁓ but ⁓ it's funny you ask me this. Because I I need to finish a script for someone. I told them by tomorrow. So like that's my own fault for saying it needs to get done by tomorrow. But I am hoping to expand into more ⁓ script writing. I really, really, really do love script writing. I want to do more voice acting work. I want to do more audiobook work because it's just like it's just fun. I just really like it. And you are so good at it. Great voice. The emotion. Like when you're talking ⁓ I just can't mm. Yeah, Daniel, you're really you really do have a great voice. Fangirling. Yeah. You do have a great voice. We brilliant. We really enjoyed the audio, first of all, the you know, the the first one that we listened to. But also the the book. I mean, everything is you're doing really well at the voice work and you you're so good at being sassy and and fun and you know, I just I think you definitely should keep doing it. It's really you're really good at it. Thank you. I really, I really appreciate that. yeah, I really, I really appreciate that. I would love to do more scripts. I would love to do ⁓ I'm working on a ⁓ theory and it's still in the thought process because again, there's no time. in my life. But ⁓ I Lynn knows about this. Excited. It's it's a fantasy series. I'm very, I'm very, very, very I've been very excited about it. ⁓ I will also be voice acting in that too. And then so I would love to get that rolling. I would love to do more audiobooks. I'm trying to do as much film acting as I can. Because that's really what I that's what I like really, really want to do. ⁓ like but so like there's so much happening. Like I just started a new job and then everything with the book and the audiobook and then script writing and then like just recording the audiobook. I'm I'm very happy people ⁓ have given me good feedback on that because I record that like I I remember in like January and February, I would go to work and I would come home, I would eat something. would sit in my closet, I would record a chapter, go to bed. And then it would be like that, like like every other day for like two months. It was like nonstop. But ⁓ yeah, I would love to do more voice acting, more script writing, more film acting, more ideas with some books. I I have so many plans for Atlas. I I told him about this and I was like, hey, I have this idea. It's like not gonna be written for a while, but like just so you know. Just so you know, just like clear your schedule for like 2032. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's coming. Just so you know. It's coming. Yeah. Yeah. Get ready. Yeah. I told because you know, he had so I did the, you know, I did the live with him for Addy's book for Chokehold. And then I got and then Renna reached out to me about her book. That he's in moniker, and then I've got you with I was like, dude, you're about do you you do realize that your book, your book era is starting? I think everyone, narrators, voice actors, everyone goes through that period where they're so in disbelief that that so many people want to use them for their projects that they just go yes to everything, and then they get to that point where they're like. ⁓ shit, I can't do this anymore. Like I've got to start picking what I do. Wait, Kim, did I answer all your questions? Did you have any more? I wanted you to talk about your book. I wanted people to know what you do. I wanted people to see you for how talented you are. That's our only goal here is to get you out there to people, especially our book friends. Who probably don't know about your book because they aren't in as much in the AE community. And I think that your book will appeal to a lot of people that we know who read. Thank you. I appreciate that. A lot. I appreciate that. Social media is hard. It's so hard. And and and you do you get in these like circles. It's not even it's not even by choice. You just get because you because you have certain friends in certain communities. And then until you until you branch out with other people into other different little pods of things, you don't really get dispersed out there the way that you should. And so it's hard for when you're already kind of established in one community, cosplay, AE, whatever it is, to then branch out into another community. ⁓ yeah. It's so difficult. I think everyone in the audio book community, like the book talk base, or at least everyone that I've talked to in person, I'm like, ⁓ well, if you like spice, like I have an Audio Erotica voice cast. They do this for a living. So they know what they're doing, which is like super great. Yes, exactly. It's very good. Yeah, it's it's getting the girlies to take that last little You know, it's like I'm already here, I'm already listening to all of this, you know, crazy spicy stuff. Like I just need I need you to just, you know, let it go and just take that last little step. You know, because it's it's okay. You're not you're not horrible, you're not a bad person if you do it, you know. And so it's just that that culture that we have to kind of clear, you know? So that repressive that ⁓ purity bullshit. Yes. Yeah. So yeah, we're trying to dispel that as much as possible. So ⁓ absolutely. And Yeah, let's just let's just burn that. I would love to. I would absolutely fucking lutely love to. Yeah. I would love to just start over with that. Yeah, for sure. All right, B. Let's do some bizarre let's do some bizarre brain thoughts. This is a good question for you. What's your favorite stationary item? I don't laugh as much, I swear. ⁓ stationary item. Yep, you can only pick one. ⁓ fuck. ⁓ I can't do like a like a knife, right? How do you how do you use knife as stationery? Just I just want to know that. You can use a knife for any kind of thing. Just I don't know, like I use it for cutting foam. I use it for cutting paper and opening boxes and Danielle, you were going on about how much you love Japanese pens and stationery and you chose a knife. Humphrey. They're gel pens. There you go. I got gel pens. Gel pen's in smooth. I do love that. Box cutter. Favorite form of stationery. Box cutter, please. I mean, who doesn't love opening a package? It's fine. ⁓ what's your favorite swear word? Fuck. Clearly. It's the best. Amazing. Wonderful. It's the best. I love it. I fucking love it. Means so many fucking things. Hey, do you not mind when I say giggle? I actually really do. I do. I do very much. We're sorry. We just can't help it. Okay. What is your weirdest habit that you love doing? I guess talking to my cat. That's great. Like having full-on conversations. I love talking to my cat. Yeah, I've talked to my cat like in voice notes. I talked to my cat while doing a voice note. Danielle, is there anything else that you would like to tell us about your book? Or what you have coming out or any projects that you have coming up before we ski daddle? ⁓ I love you. Okay. Thank you. ⁓ first of all, thank you so much for having me and my voice cast on. I really do appreciate it. ⁓ like I said before, ⁓ it's just me doing all this. So ⁓ Although I really enjoy producing and writing and every like marketing and everything that comes with being an indie author, it is incredibly taxing and it can get pretty ⁓ overwhelming. So I really do appreciate you guys having us on and wanting to share my book and my work with everyone. ⁓ because and I'm I'm sure Blyn will tell you, like when when we did the audio for his Patreon, like I I was mostly just concerned with people disliking it. Like I didn't expect like anyone to actually like it. So I was really happy that people did. I am doing I am doing ⁓ a couple things right now. There is the ⁓ the ALC, so the advanced listener copy of the Echoes and Obsidian audiobook. You could sign up for that. ⁓ the last day to sign up is ⁓ the 17th of July. I am giving away two free tickets. ⁓ it's really it's really simple contest. All you gotta do is make sure you follow me, like the post, and tell tag a friend in the comments and tell me that your favorite book you've read this year. Very, very simple. August 1st is ⁓ a really big date. That is when Echoes and Obsidian's audiobook comes out. And ⁓ I'm really excited about it. It's my first time ⁓ besides doing the audio with Flynn, it will be my first time doing an audiobook and first time like actually like really voice acting, which I'm super excited about. A lot of the guys, it's their first time in an audiobook as well. And they've all worked really, really hard on it. I'm very proud of ⁓ of all their hard work and dedication but I'm very happy that everyone likes my work and likes it enough to want to support it for us to get to this point. Because again like I only expected like a few people to actually like it. So ⁓ I'm really happy and I'm really grateful for all the love and where everyone has shown to me and my cast and to the book itself. It just it just really it just really ⁓ makes my day and ⁓ I know that the cast is really excited for it as well. On August 2nd is the Kickstarter for Secrets in Cyan. That is the second book in the series. It is the next chapter in Luca and Amity's journey. But ⁓ the Kickstarter for that starts on August 2nd and September 1st. There's a lot of physical ⁓ rewards such as Luca's perfume who I have worked very closely to ⁓ curate and create. artwork new and old signed copies exclusive bonus content exclusive audio bonus content more bookmarks tons of stuff that I have designed and made for everyone I'm super excited and then if all goes well with my editor which it's looking like it will Secrets in Siam whether we make the Kickstarter goal or not will be out mid September. I can't wait I'm so excited We are so grateful to you for allowing your book to be a part of our launch. and I know that obviously you want to get the word out about your book, but it really does mean a lot to us that you trusted us to help you with this. And I'm so grateful to B for introducing us and I think it's Absolutely fa I think it's fabulous what you've done. Again, it what you're doing is exactly our goal. And that's exactly what we we want to do in this community is bring these communities together and show there's such a wealth of talent in both of these communities and you know they do go together. So yeah, like they're interconnected, they're interconnected in so many ways. You can you can just travel through them like yeah. You our our first episode of Voice Notes After Dark. And I am so proud that we have that that our first episode completely represents exactly what our goal is. Like you don't understand how important that is to us. ⁓ because what you are doing is exactly what we want to do. And so we are starting this journey exactly where we want it to end, which is pretty fucking cool. Pretty fucking cool. Yes. So I ⁓ you know, I just we really do appreciate you, Danielle, and and everything that you're letting us do with your cast, your story, your journey, and allowing us to just ride a little bit on with you. So just kind of s sneak in a little bit there. Sneak in. Yeah. Okay. So everyone If you have not signed up for the ALC of Echoes and Obsidian, please go sign up. The link for the ⁓ sign up form will be in our show notes. You will should have by the time you watch this, hopefully another day to go and sign up. If you don't make the sign up, make sure to pick the book up on August first. And I think that's it. We did it. We did it, B. We did a whole episode. This is it. I know, like who are we? Who are we? Even. Yeah. No, this is crazy. So thank you so much. Okay. Okay, we're back. We hope you enjoyed that interview with Danielle. Time for what we read this week and what we listened to this week. So we're gonna talk about the books we listened to, books we've read, and any audios that we listen to. So B what Did you listen to this week, bookwise? Bookwise, I listened to First, I I listened to Doppelbanger. Yeah, you were telling me about that. By WH Lockwood. It is so good. It is so good. Narrated by Grant Cartwright, and he is absolutely brilliant. Like the book is about a man called August who A bit down on his luck, and runs into another August, who is this super smart scientist who is from another dimension. And he's like, August, you have to help me save the universe. And he's like, What? And he's like, You're a super, super quantum scientist, right? Like me. And he's like, I teach karate to children. And it's like, it's so, so good. It's funny. And Brilliant and they fall in love and it's just it's the book's out, the audio hasn't been released just yet. So it's an ALC? Yes, an ALC. That sounds great. ⁓ it is. It's like if you like Doctor Who and Nikamorty You you'll be a very, very happy, happy and a little romance. ⁓ a lot of romance. I mean sex to destroy the world, sex to save the world. It's it's all there. Whatever you need. It's whatever you need. Whatever you want. Anything else? ⁓ I'm really s well no. I read Taskmaster by Nikki J. Summers a while ago, and I've been meaning to listen to it. And I Just started it today. Nice. Nice. And it's it's just such an amazing book. It's so good. Stalker, heartbreak, trauma, all the good stuff. All the goodies. All the good little all the good little trigger menu warnings. Yes, exactly. Okay, well I read I finished two books this week and I am in the middle of one right now. So first I finished Double Interference by Maddie Danielle, which is a MFM hockey romance. It is so good. So Maddie wrote this whole series called the Denver Dragon series. It was a hockey team, ⁓ and there was like I can't even remember how many books were in the series. Bunch of different couples. They were all interconnected. So this is the legacy to that. So this is their kids. It's so good. The daughter is a she's a pop star, so she's a pop singer. And then the two boys, the one of the boys is an ⁓ Asher. He is an MMA fighter. And Grayson is a hockey player. And they all, you know. Do the thing. It's so good. It's so sweet. Narrated by Ryan Lee Dunlap, which it's my boy. Y'all know this my boy. ⁓ Brandon Francis and Autumn Mercer. So freaking. I love those two so much. So good. So cute. Ryan Lee Dunlap is so dirty in this book. Which one does Ryan play and which one does ⁓ Asher? So he is the MMA fighter. Brandon So Ryan's the ⁓ player. Yes. And Brandon is Grayson. Grayson is the Grayson is the sweet one, but I mean he has he has a side too. But Asher is He's yummy. We love Asher. Or at least I love Asher. I love Grayson too, I'm an Asher girly. Definitely this one is not out yet. It will be out, I believe, July twenty fourth. That was an ALC. And I'm doing a the reason why I got it earlier is because I'm doing a live with them on Wednesday night with Maddie and Brandon and Ryan and Autumn. So super excited. I'm excited about that. I'm very excited. Very excited. ⁓ the second book I read this week was from Must Love Audio, another ALC, but it is out now, and that's called Savage King. That was Jason Clark and Molly Stark. Natalie K Nat Natalie Kane. Natalie Kane. This book was I have not read any of the books in this series. This was the this is the third book. Nope. I haven't read them. You need to read you need to read I know. I'm gonna go back. I know. So I read this one. This was the third book. It so it's Mateo and the girl that he ⁓ meets, her name is Violet. Her sister was taken when she was 18 and trafficked, and they have She's been gone for seven years. And ⁓ so then they meet, ⁓ Violet and Mateo meet and then Mateo helps her find her s or tries to help her find her sister. It is so good. Jason Clark You can you know when you can hear somebody smile when they're talking? ⁓ that's my favorite. You can hear Jason Clark smile. Somebody smile is my absolute favorite thing. The best. It's the best. And that that's the one thing about Jason that I just super love. Like you can feel so much about what he's how he feels when he's when he's talking, when he's narrating. ⁓ and Molly is just I love Molly's voice so much. She's Her voice is just so bright and she has this like little bit of rasp to her voice that's just like so hot, but she's still like Tara in a little bit, yeah. She just has this slight little rasp that is just so cute. And I love her voice so much and she is such a great actress and she's so feisty and spicy and I just I love everything that she does. ⁓ but these two the I mean the banter, he is like all in on her from like the second he sees her. They never miscommunicate, they never mince words with each other, like they are so straightforward and just like head on with each other and it's so refreshing. Like it's just I just love it. I love the communication that they have as a couple. So it was great. I Absolutely love that book so much. And I definitely am gonna go back and read all the other ones because listening to the other couples I know they're just as good. And so right now I am reading The S'more the Merrier by Cedar James. Another MFM this is Cedar's first Y choose. She's never written a Y choose before, and she's doing a phenomenal job. I'm only halfway through. ⁓ Ivan Moria, Caden Hart, Rachel Dane, and then we have our friend Renita, who this is her like first book that she's actually like in. And guess who she's playing, B? I don't know. She's playing me. Who is she playing? There's a character in this book named after me. Me. And Renita is playing me. It's amazing. I and I am I am the best friend in this book. I am so good. I am telling Rachel to go get it on. Like I am like encouraging her to go get her men and get her freak on at adult summer camp. And I love this for me. This is genuine energy that I would actually give if this were me. So Cedar picked a great character for me. It'd be so weird reading a book and going, I was so floored when she messaged me and told me that. She was like, ⁓ we no big deal, we just named a character after you. And I was like, what? And it's not like not just named after you, but it kind of is you. It's not like There was a waitress named Kim. Like she's like a character in this. Like she's like the FMC's best friend. And it's really cute. It's really cool. I don't know. It's really cool. And then to have Renita do the voice because like I don't know. It's just super it's just super special. It's very special to me. But the book is great. And I'm about halfway through and it's starting to get really good. And Ivan and Caden are just fucking hot. What are you gonna do? They're just hot. And Rachel is amazing. She's always amazing. Rachel is amazing at everything she does. So it's really good. And the story is great. So How long is it? Five hour it's like five and a half hours. ⁓ so it's like mid. It's a Yeah, it's it's a novella. It's one of the accidental love affairs, so it's one of the shorter books. ⁓ they don't call Cedar the Duchess a banter for nothing. This book is Great with the banter. So I love banter. I have a She's so good. She's so good at writing that. Okay. Any audios? Did you listen to any audios this week without me? I think so. I don't think I did. Okay. First episode down. I hope you guys enjoyed our interview with Danielle. I hope you enjoyed our react to Flynn and Danielle's ⁓ audio together. We loved it. It was super cute. Thank you, Danielle, for being here and letting us interview you. Love you, Danielle. And letting us be a part of your wonderful book and audiobook, Echoes in Incidian.
