- 0:53So today, our guest, Pastor David Roth, he's at one way Christian Church in Green Bay,
- 0:58Wisconsin.
- 0:59When married to his wife, Tammy, for 27 years, they have two children.
- 1:03And that is Terran and Macy.
- 1:06He believes the Lord called him to be a pastor later in his life after a successful business
- 1:10career.
- 1:11He strongly believes in the importance of expository, verse by verse teaching of the scriptures.
- 1:17We're going to talk about what that means.
- 1:19He also believes the Church is to have a living testimony, which becomes the platform from
- 1:24which Christians are to speak the truth and share the gospel.
- 1:28One thing I love about him, he's the founder of the Men of Iron Conference.
- 1:31We're going to talk about that quite a bit.
- 1:33And he also serves in a leadership position for the Prayer and Spiritual Encouragement Team
- 1:39of React 19.
- 1:41It's a non-profit organization that provides financial, physical, emotional and spiritual support
- 1:46for the vaccine injured.
- 1:48Pastor David Roth, welcome to WorldView Matters.
- 1:51Thank you very much, David, and honored to be here today with you.
- 1:55Yeah, first of all, congratulations to you as well for WorldView Matters.
- 1:59Thank you.
- 2:00So far so good.
- 2:01It's going well, but it's going to be good to see you in person in less than two weeks
- 2:07at, say, October 14.
- 2:09It's a Saturday in Green Bay, one-way Christian Church, the Men of Iron Conference.
- 2:15You just started it a couple of years ago.
- 2:17Tell us about the vision and just tell us about the beginnings of Men of Iron.
- 2:21Yeah.
- 2:22So the Men of Iron started by a group of men getting together and just realizing that
- 2:29it would be really beneficial for men to get recharged and refocused as to God's intent
- 2:38for us as men.
- 2:41And to do that on an annual basis.
- 2:45And right from the get-go, it was designed to not just to appeal to men of one church or
- 2:53a couple churches, but really to reach out to all the men in the Greater Green Bay area,
- 2:59brothers and Christ, to have this opportunity to come together, study God's Word, be encouraged
- 3:06through that, but also allow for men to interact with each other, just sharpen each other,
- 3:14and to really focus on what is God's intent for us as men within our homes, within the
- 3:20church, the workplace and the community.
- 3:24And it's been great to see, over the years, see men come to Christ at this event, but
- 3:33also just to see men continue to grow in their faith and participate in their sanctified
- 3:40work of the Holy Spirit.
- 3:41And it's been great and need to be a part of.
- 3:44Amen.
- 3:45Biblical maturity is so needed today.
- 3:48Men have kind of lost that role in the home, but also in our culture, David, because it
- 3:55seems like I can think back as far as the 1970s when men were basically emasculated on
- 4:03television and Primetime TV.
- 4:06There are always characters playing the fool or playing the insignificant husband, the
- 4:11dumb husband that didn't know what he was doing.
- 4:14And almost men as husband or as leader of the household was almost an unnecessary thought.
- 4:20But that's not what we need with a healthy society, for a healthy society.
- 4:25Where do you think we went wrong?
- 4:26I know we could open up a whole new can of worms on this, but I think we should go back
- 4:30and evaluate what happened to the role of men in our culture.
- 4:33But most importantly, the church, because the church is supposed to influence culture
- 4:38and men should be leading the way.
- 4:42Yeah, absolutely.
- 4:44And I think where we've gone wrong is we've changed our approach in the church.
- 4:52And I'm not obviously speaking for all churches, but just overall, the pulpit has watered down
- 5:01the gospel.
- 5:03And we become more focused on being seeker-friendly churches versus focusing on the truth itself.
- 5:12And the church is really Acts 242 speaks to this.
- 5:17It's a four full purpose of the church.
- 5:21And it starts with the, you know, being devoted to the apostles' teachings, fellowship,
- 5:28making a bread, which is the sacraments, and then prayer.
- 5:31But that focus and devotion to the apostles' teaching, I think, has been going downhill,
- 5:39if you will, from the pulpit.
- 5:42And we really need to focus on the truth and the teaching of the truth and training
- 5:46and equipping men to be biblical men.
- 5:50And that starts with them opening up their Bibles as well.
- 5:55I think we have to get men to increase their knowledge of God.
- 6:02So the more we know Him, and then the more we know that we know Him, that's going to
- 6:08lead to a willingness to obey Him.
- 6:13And so as that knowledge of Him grows, the willingness to obey Him grows.
- 6:19And then as a result, obedience grows.
- 6:22And I think a good starting point of getting us back to that is really getting men to
- 6:29take a look at, you know, park themselves in Ephesians 5 and Ephesians 6, where we get
- 6:36great biblical principles and instructions on how to be godly husbands, godly fathers,
- 6:42and just godly men in general when you think about the armor of God and all that is available
- 6:47to men, provide to God through the Holy Spirit within.
- 6:52So now as a god has to increase, that has to be a focus for the church without a question.
- 7:00We're going to get back to the men of iron conference because I like what the whole
- 7:04three, you know, expressions are suit up, stand up, and speak up, men of iron.
- 7:10And if it's based on Proverbs 29 or 27, 17 as one man, iron sharpens iron as one man
- 7:18sharpens another.
- 7:19But I want to talk about something you said, you mentioned the secret sensitive church
- 7:22and that's so sadly prevalent in America today.
- 7:26One of the reasons we are so soft and immature and we'd like to entertain instead of make
- 7:32disciples and equip the saints.
- 7:35So Pastor David Roth tell me why expository preaching is so important and that if that
- 7:42just doesn't line up with the seeker sensitive, you know, try to attract a crowd, it just
- 7:48doesn't line up with that when you're teaching verse by verse, tell us why that's important.
- 7:52Well, I think first and foremost, the reason for the need for it is it removes man's wisdom
- 8:03and human thought.
- 8:06You know, when we engage in topical type preaching, which, you know, I will do on exception.
- 8:12So it's rare, but I will do it from time to time if there's a need, but, you know, topical
- 8:18preaching ends up preaching on emotion, but it also ends up having the topic, the pastor
- 8:27taking that topic and seeking scripture to fit the topic versus with expository preaching,
- 8:34you're taking scripture and basically defining it.
- 8:39And so you don't have that human element of that human opinion and wisdom interjected
- 8:45when you engage in expository teaching.
- 8:48You're basically just going verse by verse and providing a historical context, context
- 8:54is so important and that's missing in our teaching from the pulpit, but the context,
- 9:01historical perspectives, studying the Hebrew and the Greek so that we get the true meaning
- 9:08of the passage.
- 9:10And from that meaning, we then can determine what are the applications that we can take
- 9:15from it.
- 9:16And I think too often with other styles of preaching, topical preaching, you know,
- 9:24we're trying to do that in reverse, we're leading with applications and again, trying
- 9:30to fit scripture into that application versus having scripture define the application
- 9:36for us.
- 9:37You said a very important word, context, and you might want to say kind of like real estate
- 9:42is location, location, location, the teaching of scripture and Biblically is context, context,
- 9:48context, because oh my goodness, I scripture has been abused, ripped out of context.
- 9:54I've just been unfortunately or been at churches or have heard so many sermons where things
- 10:00were taken out.
- 10:01I mean, grace was a big topic.
- 10:03A lot of people like to teach on grace, they don't teach the full balance of that.
- 10:07Grace, mercy, you know, they don't put the truth and God's judgment too, they don't find
- 10:12a proper balance, but you can teach too much of one thing or you can take it out and make
- 10:16it mean something, it really doesn't mean and give it, get out of balance.
- 10:20So I know it's so important to do that.
- 10:23I want to mention what under the men of iron conference, what is on the front page and
- 10:30it's very important, I believe it says, we are at war, a spiritual war and the enemy is
- 10:35ruthless and relentless.
- 10:38Brothers in Christ, men of iron, we must suit up, stand up and speak up.
- 10:43Put up with the armor of God and pick up the mighty sword and courageously stand up
- 10:48to boldly speak up as men of iron, we need to seek and pursue truth, but also be willing
- 10:55to defend the truth and expose the lies and deceit, threatening our families, churches
- 11:02and the youth.
- 11:03I want to stop right there, David, because it goes on, but that is important right there.
- 11:08If more men were, first of all, really mature in the word of God, the knowledge of scripture,
- 11:13the knowledge of the truth and had a solid foundation, they would be able to discern.
- 11:19And then the importance of seeing the craziness that's going on, the deceit, there's a lot
- 11:24of deceptions out there.
- 11:25The enemy is obviously going after children today and families.
- 11:29So talk about the importance of that and then we've got to take a break in a couple minutes.
- 11:32But the importance of men being mature in the word of God, being able to discern, but
- 11:36then how to respond to the deception that's going on right outside the wall here.
- 11:42Yeah, yeah, and let me just say a few passages that really inspired this year's theme of suit
- 11:49up, stand up and speak up, and I think we'll help guide us through this question and answer.
- 11:56When you look at Ephesians 6 with the armor, God, which obviously allows us to stand up against
- 12:04the schemes of the devil, stand up against the spiritual forces of evil as Ephesians 6 says.
- 12:09But what men need to understand is that God gives us everything that we need to engage
- 12:16and to be victorious in the spiritual battle.
- 12:18Yes.
- 12:19And when you look at specifically the armor of God, you've got the belt of truth,
- 12:23you've got the breastplate of righteousness, you've got the shoes for our feet, the shield of faith,
- 12:29the helmet of salvation, and he gives us the only offensive weapon that we need is the
- 12:35sort of the spirit, which is the word of God. But we as men need to be able to tap into
- 12:42that spiritual power that's given to us through our faith alone and Christ alone.
- 12:47So when you look at the belt of truth, we live in the world system which belongs to Satan.
- 12:54He's the father of lies, he's the father of deception, but we live in the truth,
- 13:00and we need to strap on the belt of truth, which allows us to not only defend our faith,
- 13:07but it allows us to content for our faith.
- 13:10And you think about the breastplate of righteousness, obviously this is of course the righteousness
- 13:15of Jesus. It's not man's righteousness, it's his righteousness that's placed into us
- 13:20and it guards our hearts, it protects our hearts, which is our vital organ for our faith.
- 13:29And then the shoes, right? We need to lace on the shoes that God provides us, and this is where
- 13:37I think men really need to stand up and understand is that those shoes that God provides us,
- 13:44that's about him wanting us to step into the battle. So many men sit idly, we're isolating
- 13:53ourselves and we're not getting stepping out into the battle. And that's where we need to do.
- 13:59And he provides us protections with the shoes for our feet to go to step into that battle and to go
- 14:05and share the gospel of peace as Ephesians 6 speaks to. And the shield of faith, we've got great
- 14:13confidence, we should have great confidence in our faith. I mean after all our faith is authored by
- 14:19Jesus, it's perfected by Jesus. So it's a faith that can protect us from anything that Satan throws
- 14:27our way. Amen. And then of course the helmet of salvation, which obviously a helmet protects the
- 14:34head, our minds reside in our head and God is going to protect our minds against any false
- 14:41teachers and false doctrines of the world. And that's through discernment. But at the end of
- 14:48the day, we have to be engaged in this because we cannot sit back and just wait for a mysterious
- 14:57or mystical experience where the Holy Spirit just sanctifies us to a point where we can just
- 15:04be completely protected and guarded in all these ways. We have to be actively engaged
- 15:10in our sanctification and transformation. And it's just getting men to realize that we have a
- 15:19tremendous spiritual power within us. We have the fruit of the spirit within us. And we have
- 15:26everything that we need, including the greatest spiritual weapon there is. And that's the power
- 15:33of God's word. And so just getting men to mentally engage in the acknowledgement of that and
- 15:40understand that hopefully will lead more men to say, you know what? Okay, I've got everything I
- 15:46need. They're Christ alone. Yes, it's time to get off the cruise ship and onto the battleship
- 15:51in Christ. We've got to take a break more by the way, the website is men of ironconference.org
- 15:58right back with Pastor David Roth. Today's show is brought to you by Harbinger's Daily.
- 16:04World News Biblically Understood. Stay informed at harbingerstaley.com.
- 16:18By the way, there's a Facebook event that you can share with men. It's called men of iron
- 16:25conference. And it's in Green Bay, Wisconsin, October 14. It's a Saturday all day event.
- 16:30Carl Kirby, a guest we've had on this show as well. He's going to be one of the speakers. David is
- 16:36going to be speaking there. I will be speaking there as well. Men of ironconference.org. And there's
- 16:41a Facebook event. So Pastor David Roth, I want to get right to this. I didn't want to run out
- 16:46of time. I was watching a program with Kurt Cameron interviewing Franklin Graham,
- 16:53two great men of God, right? Men of iron who are taking the sword of the spirit. It's our weapon
- 16:59knowing the word of God. Franklin Graham said when he's on trips overseas on certain countries
- 17:05that we don't look at as big, you know, strong countries, he sees the church growing and thriving
- 17:10partly because of persecution. But mainly the church is hungry for the word of God. We don't
- 17:15have that hunger in America. And Franklin Graham said when he's on some of these trips, he encourages
- 17:22them these churches overseas to send missionaries to America. Now 20 years ago, I was in California
- 17:30still living there at the time just before we moved. And a pastor came in, a guest pastor came in
- 17:35and he shared how he was hearing from missionaries coming in from a couple different countries
- 17:41into Los Angeles International Airport to evangelize the decadent West their words.
- 17:48America doesn't have a great reputation for the strength and influence of Christianity.
- 17:54We want to help try to change that. It starts with the men. But your thoughts on
- 17:59we need to be evangelized and we're talking about the basics, the gospel, aren't we?
- 18:03Yep, yeah, absolutely. And you know, I think over time as we've clearly seen
- 18:09in this country, we have become so soft within the church that and things are being preached as
- 18:20it's easy faith. All you need to do is this, bow your head, raise your hand, say a prayer, walk an
- 18:25aisle. And but we're really not digging deep in Scripture and clearly defining what it truly
- 18:34means to walk in the light. What it truly means to be a faithful believer and
- 18:40follower of Jesus Christ, we are not raising enough followers of Jesus Christ within the church
- 18:48today. And we have professing believers, but we need to make sure that we're training
- 18:54in equipping people to be followers of Jesus Christ, which means that we go and we share
- 18:59the good news of Jesus Christ. We share the gospel of Jesus Christ and with that will come
- 19:04persecution. I mean, throughout Scripture, we see how the church grows. And I think we're
- 19:09likely seeing this throughout the world in countries like China, for example, Afghanistan, where
- 19:16the church is growing because of persecution. I mean, after Stephen was stoned to death,
- 19:23what happened? Well, they scattered. They scattered. And through that persecution, the church grew.
- 19:29Yes. And I think we've had it easy here in this country. And then the American church,
- 19:36we don't experience persecution outside of verbal persecution. Now things are changing.
- 19:42I think what we're seeing is, you know, we're living in Romans one in this country. I think we're
- 19:49being disciplined by God. I think God is turning people over to their desires of the flesh.
- 19:55And it will be a matter of time before we start to experience more persecution.
- 20:02And as believers, we don't seek persecution, but we shouldn't run from it.
- 20:10But let us also understand that great blessings come from that persecution and the church will
- 20:17grow as a result of that. Yes, we're not promised happiness. That's circumstantial anyway.
- 20:23But I mean, even Christian books, a lot, some books talking about, you know,
- 20:28every day is a Friday. Live your best life now. Just visualize and God will bless you and give you
- 20:33what you want. Like we're treating God as if he was a genie. And I want to mention what you said.
- 20:38This mentality in some churches in America are adding when you come to maybe share the gospel,
- 20:45or what some people think is the gospel. Just add Jesus to your life and you'll be complete.
- 20:50No, no, no, no. Jesus is our life to live as Christ to die as gain. He's not just a cherry on
- 20:56the top of a big massive banana split with all the fruit and ice cream. Now Jesus is our life.
- 21:03So we kind of got that backwards. So that's a wrong gospel when they're trying to sell Jesus as
- 21:08something you can just add. So in other words, David, you don't have to change anything in your life.
- 21:12Just, you know, make the decision to add Jesus and you'll be saved. That's another gospel, isn't it,
- 21:18your thoughts? Yeah, yeah, absolutely. And we talk about that frequently here at one way.
- 21:27You know, it's it's the wrong gospel when we and trying to encourage people to come to Christ
- 21:32because he will fix your finances. He will fix your marriage. And, you know,
- 21:39you'll have your better experiences at your workplace and so forth and so forth. And it becomes the
- 21:45gospel of self. It becomes a gospel of consumerism. What can I get from Jesus Christ when it's us
- 21:55giving our lives to him as he gave his life for us? It is all about Jesus. It's not about fixing
- 22:04this or that. And we have got to do a better job within America's church of explaining the gospel,
- 22:12the true gospel. And it's first and foremost, Jesus came for the glory of his father. He came
- 22:22and lived a perfect life for the glory of his father. He died a perfect death for the glory of
- 22:29his father. And yes, as a result, an outcome of that, those who believe in him alone have faith
- 22:39and have eternal life. But the focus has got to stop being on us. Yes. And it needs to be on Christ.
- 22:47Yes. It needs to be on Christ. Yeah, even in our worship, friends, be careful. I know you probably
- 22:52do it at your church, David. You look at those lyrics. Are they theologically sound or they
- 22:57about me, me, me, God blessing me? You're so good to me all the time. And we can get out of whack
- 23:03and almost romanticize God. But we're running out of time already. David is at one way Christian
- 23:09at church in Green Bay, Wisconsin. That's where the men of iron conference is going to be
- 23:13Saturday, October 14, less than two weeks away. We hope you can make it men in northeast Wisconsin.
- 23:20David, I wanted to ask you about something very important. And that is React 19. We talked about
- 23:25this a little bit on the phone a couple months ago. It's a nonprofit organization that provides
- 23:31financial, physical, emotional, and spiritual support to the vaccine injured.
- 23:37We need this more than ever with the more news coming out of people with heart problems and
- 23:42dying young athletes and and brain injuries, you know, just share it with the vision and what
- 23:50this is all about. Yeah. So in April of this year, I had an opportunity to attend a medical
- 23:58medical freedom choice conference in Wisconsin Dells. And I sat in on a session where Dr. Joel
- 24:07Wolfscock, who was an orthopedic surgeon from Milwaukee, who was vaccine injured. And he shared
- 24:15his story, but he's also a believer. And he shared his testimony during this conference. And I
- 24:22immediately approached him after hearing him speak because at the time, they only had three pillars,
- 24:30the medical support, financial support, and emotional support pillars for the vaccine injured.
- 24:36And I just said, Hey, based on your faith, you really need a spiritual support pillar.
- 24:42And that's when he volunteered me to help him put that together. And so we are putting together
- 24:50a global network of prayer warriors who will pray for the vaccine injuries. And this is a political,
- 25:00unfortunately, a political hot potato, even within the church, sadly. And I would say
- 25:10whatever your perspective is on the vaccine, whether you're pro vaccine or your anti vaccine,
- 25:16the fact of the matter is, is that people have been injured. That's the reality of it.
- 25:22And these people, these individuals feel shamed. They feel unacknowledged. They feel ignored.
- 25:30And as believers in Father Jesus Christ and as the church, we need to come alongside these people,
- 25:37acknowledge their situation, love them, pray for them, and give them encouragement and hope.
- 25:45Because there's a lot of unanswered questions for them on how to deal with this.
- 25:51And I know this is personal for you. And I've got a handful of folks within our congregation
- 25:59here that are injured and they're really struggling. And it's really tough when you have this
- 26:07situation and you have the medical community community for the most part telling them, hey, no,
- 26:13this is just anxiety. This is not an injury. And boy, that brings about hopelessness
- 26:23and because you know something's wrong. And what I've learned over the past few months is,
- 26:32you know, there's obviously a tremendous amount of people that have been injured.
- 26:35Myocarditis is one of the top symptoms, but there is over on average, on average,
- 26:43for a vaccine injury. There's over 20 different medical symptoms that they suffer from.
- 26:48And Naraphi being another big one that they suffer from. And so the good news is,
- 26:54React 19 is making a lot of progress and aligning themselves with doctors throughout the country
- 27:03and the world who are focused on developing treatment for people that are vaccine injured.
- 27:09And React 19 acts as kind of that vehicle to get people pointed in the right direction
- 27:17and help them. There's going to be some new medical clinics opening up.
- 27:23One in Texas, one in Florida, through React 19, where people can go,
- 27:28see doctors who are focused on treating them and getting them healthy again. And so it's a great
- 27:34organization, but I'm so glad that to be a part of the spiritual pillar and just provide encouragement
- 27:41and hope through prayer. That's important, David. Thank you for doing that. My wife has been affected.
- 27:46She, her families in Toronto, Canada, she had to take the vaccine to get over the border.
- 27:51And since then, we've had two years now of cognitive issues. They call it a cognitive neurological
- 27:57disorder, CND. And they say, well, it's just anxiety. You can have an antidepressant and go to
- 28:03the counseling. But that doesn't take care of the cause. And the major systems, the hospital systems,
- 28:10if they cannot start with the premise that the vaccine could have caused an injury that it's
- 28:16possible, they don't even admit that many of them. So there's injustice going on as well. But it's
- 28:21React 19.org friends. David, we've got to wrap it up already. And we've got to just mention the
- 28:26website for the men of Iron Conference Saturday, October 14. It is men of Iron Conference.org.
- 28:35We're excited. We're going to stir up the men. And hopefully we'll see a little change in
- 28:40at least in our neck of the woods in Northeast Wisconsin. Pastor Roth, thank you so much for
- 28:45being here. I will see you on the 14th, brother. Yes. Thank you, David. I really appreciate it.
- 28:52All right. God bless. Keep fighting the good fight as I know you will.
- 28:55Yeah. Thank you. You too. Thank you. All right, guys. Tomorrow on World View Matters,
- 29:01we've got the founder of Mission America, Linda Harvey, another troublemaker for the Kingdom of
