- 0:00Speaker 1: But the word of the Lord stands forever. Job esteemed
- 0:03Speaker 1: it above his necessary food. David said, it was a
- 0:06Speaker 1: lamp unto my feet and a light unto my pathway.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Oh God, the centurion said, speak the word only and
- 0:12Speaker 1: my daughter shall be healed. That's all we want you
- 0:15Speaker 1: to do today is speak the.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Word to us.
- 0:18Speaker 1: And allow us to examine our perspectives, our ideas, our philosophies,
- 0:22Speaker 1: and challenge how we live with your eternal word. I
- 0:25Speaker 1: believe you for increase today in the invincible, eternal, immutable
- 0:29Speaker 1: name of Jesus Christ, our King, and all the believers
- 0:33Speaker 1: in the house said amen. Somebody ought to say amen again.
- 0:37Speaker 1: You may be seated in the presence of God. It
- 0:41Speaker 1: is an interesting text that lay before us today. It
- 0:46Speaker 1: is not the normal text that we would consider. It
- 0:49Speaker 1: stops short of dealing with the magnanimous, powerful display of
- 0:54Speaker 1: God's power through his instrument that defeated the foe of Goliath.
- 0:59Speaker 1: And yet it does not even examine who David is
- 1:02Speaker 1: in the fullest potential of his power and his prophetic value.
- 1:07Speaker 1: The sliver of the text that I've chosen to discuss
- 1:09Speaker 1: with you today starts out in the most simplistic and
- 1:12Speaker 1: mundane way. It is only meaningful to us because we
- 1:19Speaker 1: know how the story is. And we know the story.
- 1:22Speaker 1: But I want you to indulge me in a moment
- 1:25Speaker 1: and imagine if you were David and you didn't know
- 1:29Speaker 1: how the day was going to end. Imagine if you
- 1:32Speaker 1: were David and you had listened at your father that night,
- 1:35Speaker 1: give you instructions what you were to do. Now understand
- 1:40Speaker 1: all of your bigger brothers are in the battle. They
- 1:44Speaker 1: have fancy swords and uniforms. They have shields. They have
- 1:49Speaker 1: put on all of this armor. They have red velvet
- 1:52Speaker 1: garments and capes adorning them because they are the army
- 1:55Speaker 1: of Israel. And you, you're just a youngster, an upstart.
- 2:00Speaker 1: My grandmother would say a whippersnapper that they left at
- 2:03Speaker 1: home to take care of the sheep. He's the baby boy. Yeah,
- 2:08Speaker 1: he's a baby boy. And I want to talk to
- 2:10Speaker 1: you about that because he is the baby boy. He's
- 2:12Speaker 1: the little one. And little things matter. And so he
- 2:17Speaker 1: is given a little assignment. The little boy is given
- 2:20Speaker 1: a little assignment. And he does this with this attitude.
- 2:25Speaker 1: He makes up in his mind that in the morning
- 2:27Speaker 1: I will rise up early. I will assign the welfare,
- 2:31Speaker 1: the taking care of my sheep to somebody to be
- 2:33Speaker 1: a substitute shepherd in my absence while I run this
- 2:37Speaker 1: little errand for my father and I get in my
- 2:41Speaker 1: hands this ephah of corn or wheat or whatever substance
- 2:46Speaker 1: it was and ten loaves of bread and run down
- 2:49Speaker 1: here with a little lunch. In essence, David is a
- 2:52Speaker 1: delivery boy. It's a little thing that he set out
- 2:55Speaker 1: to do. You must understand when we start talking about
- 2:59Speaker 1: this that David has no idea what will happen by
- 3:03Speaker 1: the end of the day. It is not the mighty
- 3:06Speaker 1: majestic moves of God that we need help with how
- 3:09Speaker 1: to handle. It is the mundane, ritualistic, ordinary days that
- 3:14Speaker 1: stand in between the mountaintop experiences that we live in
- 3:17Speaker 1: most of the time. We have more days of normalcy
- 3:20Speaker 1: and complacency than we do of spectacular displays of power.
- 3:24Speaker 1: This is just another morning for David to get up
- 3:27Speaker 1: with yet another chore to do. And he wipes his
- 3:31Speaker 1: face and brushes his teeth and grabs his bag full
- 3:35Speaker 1: of food and decides I'm going down there to be
- 3:38Speaker 1: at a particular place to do what my father told
- 3:41Speaker 1: me to do.
- 3:43Speaker 2: But I want you to.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Understand, though, in spite of the simplicity of the assignment,
- 3:48Speaker 1: in spite of the smallness of the assignment, in spite
- 3:50Speaker 1: of how little it is, in spite of how little
- 3:53Speaker 1: David himself is, in spite of the fact that he
- 3:55Speaker 1: is so young and too young to be in the battle,
- 3:58Speaker 1: I want you to understand that little things matter. I
- 4:02Speaker 1: want you to understand little things matter. And until you
- 4:05Speaker 1: understand that little things matter, you will never be able
- 4:08Speaker 1: to fulfill your destiny.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Throughout the course of our discussion, I'm going to.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Give you some lesson tips that I want you to
- 4:15Speaker 1: jot down and I want you to remember. It's what
- 4:17Speaker 1: separates the giant killers from the giant watchers. These principles,
- 4:23Speaker 1: these transferable truths are just as relevant today as they
- 4:27Speaker 1: have ever been. In fact, the first one I want
- 4:29Speaker 1: you to write down is great people do little things
- 4:32Speaker 1: with excellence. Great people do little things with excellence. Great
- 4:40Speaker 1: people don't just do great things with excellence. They do
- 4:44Speaker 1: little things with excellence. They understand how important it is
- 4:48Speaker 1: to do normal things. In fact, it is a sure
- 4:52Speaker 1: sign that you're going to end up in a great
- 4:53Speaker 1: place when you give great detail to little things, when
- 4:57Speaker 1: something little goes wrong and it bothers you, when you
- 4:59Speaker 1: want to make sure that everything is right, even though
- 5:02Speaker 1: you don't have a title and you don't have a
- 5:03Speaker 1: position and you don't have recognition and you don't have prestige,
- 5:06Speaker 1: but you have a standard to which you hold yourself to.
- 5:11Speaker 2: It's not about them.
- 5:12Speaker 1: It's about a standard you hold yourself to, and the
- 5:15Speaker 1: standard is a standard of excellence. Excellence doesn't start when
- 5:18Speaker 1: the lights come on. Excellence doesn't start when the crowd gathers.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Excellence doesn't come when everybody's watching. Excellence is nurtured in
- 5:27Speaker 1: mediocrity in ordinary days when you begin to appreciate the
- 5:31Speaker 1: power of the words before. Nothing about this story forewarns
- 5:35Speaker 1: us of the significance of this day. There's no warning.
- 5:39Speaker 1: There's no warning label. God puts no warning label on greatness.
- 5:44Speaker 1: He does not tell you that when you meet this person,
- 5:46Speaker 1: it is going to change your life. He does not
- 5:49Speaker 1: tell you that when you walk through this door, you'll
- 5:51Speaker 1: never be the same again. He does not tell you
- 5:53Speaker 1: that this little job, this little assignment that you're going
- 5:56Speaker 1: on is going to be the catalyst through which your
- 5:59Speaker 1: destiny is released. He doesn't tell you anything like that.
- 6:03Speaker 1: David is the baby of his family. He has a
- 6:05Speaker 1: little chore to do. It's just an ordinary chore. He
- 6:08Speaker 1: has a little assignment to take care of. He has
- 6:10Speaker 1: to manage his normal and yet perform a little assignment.
- 6:13Speaker 1: God has given him practice with managing responsibility because he
- 6:18Speaker 1: is grooming him for greatness. I don't know who I'm
- 6:22Speaker 1: talking to out there, but God is grooming you for greatness.
- 6:26Speaker 1: I know it doesn't look great right now. Your wallet
- 6:27Speaker 1: doesn't look great right now. Your house doesn't look great
- 6:30Speaker 1: right now. Your car doesn't look great right now. Your
- 6:32Speaker 1: situation doesn't look great right now. People push past you
- 6:35Speaker 1: trying to get to great people, but God is grooming
- 6:38Speaker 1: you for greatness. If you cannot manage the little things...
- 6:42Speaker 1: you'll never be able to manage the big things. If
- 6:44Speaker 1: the little things overwhelm you, if you complain and collapse
- 6:47Speaker 1: about little things, you'll never be ready for the greater
- 6:49Speaker 1: things that God is about to do in your life.
- 6:51Speaker 1: But the Lord told me to get somebody ready. I
- 6:54Speaker 1: don't know who it is, but God told me to
- 6:56Speaker 1: get you ready. If it's you, you ought to give
- 6:58Speaker 1: him a praise. God told me to get you ready.
- 7:02Speaker 1: In spite of how small it looks right now, it's
- 7:06Speaker 1: bigger than you think. In spite of how small you
- 7:09Speaker 1: look right now, it's bigger than you think.
- 7:12Speaker 2: David does not know who he is yet.
- 7:14Speaker 1: He's yet to realize the full strength and power of
- 7:18Speaker 1: what he is about to be. David has not been
- 7:21Speaker 1: recognized as being a king. He doesn't really understand the
- 7:24Speaker 1: magnitude of his position. He thinks he's just an errand boy.
- 7:28Speaker 1: He thinks he's just going down there to carry lunch.
- 7:30Speaker 1: He has no idea he is going to be in
- 7:32Speaker 1: the fight of his life. He would have prepared differently
- 7:35Speaker 1: if he would have known he was going into battle.
- 7:37Speaker 1: But he came down there to do a little thing. Oh,
- 7:40Speaker 1: but it was bigger than you think. David didn't know
- 7:43Speaker 1: that he was walking into a battle and David didn't
- 7:45Speaker 1: even know who Goliath was. Many of you have not
- 7:48Speaker 1: yet met your Goliath, but your Goliath is coming. Your
- 7:52Speaker 1: Goliath is coming, and that's why I got to get
- 7:53Speaker 1: you ready for it. You don't even know that your
- 7:55Speaker 1: Goliath is coming, and he's coming without warning, and he's
- 7:58Speaker 1: coming without an invitation, and he's coming without you having preparation.
- 8:02Speaker 1: It is just that everything that you have been through
- 8:04Speaker 1: in your past has been getting you ready. The little
- 8:06Speaker 1: things have been getting you ready. The small task has
- 8:09Speaker 1: been getting you ready. The lion that attacked the cub
- 8:12Speaker 1: is getting you ready. The bear that came down after
- 8:14Speaker 1: your sheep is getting you ready. They don't come with
- 8:17Speaker 1: a sign on their neck that says, I'm getting you
- 8:19Speaker 1: ready for Goliath. But these light afflictions, which are but
- 8:22Speaker 1: for a moment, are getting you ready for the fight
- 8:24Speaker 1: of your life so that when you get in the
- 8:26Speaker 1: fight of your life, it will not feel like the
- 8:28Speaker 1: fight of your life because all of the fights that
- 8:31Speaker 1: preceded it will cause you to deal with this fight
- 8:34Speaker 1: with another level of confidence and strength. That's why you
- 8:37Speaker 1: got to rejoice when you've been afflicted. Rejoice when you've
- 8:39Speaker 1: been up under attack. Rejoice when all hell has broken
- 8:42Speaker 1: loose in your life because God's got you in training camp. Ah!
- 8:46Speaker 1: I want to talk to somebody today that's in the
- 8:48Speaker 1: boot camp of greatness. Oh, you're in the boot camp
- 8:52Speaker 1: of greatness because you're bigger than you think and you
- 8:54Speaker 1: don't even know it.
- 8:55Speaker 2: And God is about to blow your mind. Somebody logged on.
- 9:00Speaker 1: This broadcast today because God is telling you I'm getting
- 9:03Speaker 1: ready to blow your mind. Shatter the way you think.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Shatter your perspectives and your attitude. Shatter how you define greatness.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Shatter how you define responsibility. Shatter what you call pressure.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I'm exposing you to pressure because I'm building up your
- 9:19Speaker 1: tolerance because where I'm getting ready to take you, what
- 9:22Speaker 1: was precious to me is going to become your normal.
- 9:24Speaker 1: And I got to recalibrate you and train the way
- 9:28Speaker 1: you think. In the book of Ephesians chapter 3, verse 20,
- 9:32Speaker 1: it reads, Now unto him that is able to do
- 9:34Speaker 1: exceeding and abundantly above all that we may ask or think,
- 9:40Speaker 1: that God is able to do more than all that
- 9:42Speaker 1: we may ask or think according to the power that
- 9:46Speaker 1: worketh in us. In other words, God will not live
- 9:49Speaker 1: in the jail cell of your mentality. He will not
- 9:52Speaker 1: limit himself to be incarcerated by your ideas. In other words,
- 9:57Speaker 1: God is about to blow your mind. He said, I'm
- 10:00Speaker 1: bigger than what you think this day is bigger than
- 10:02Speaker 1: what you think it is this moment is bigger than
- 10:05Speaker 1: what you think it is go ahead and get your
- 10:07Speaker 1: little tin loaves and get on your little camel and
- 10:09Speaker 1: saddle up and go ahead and put your little quilt
- 10:12Speaker 1: on the back of the camel and ride on down
- 10:14Speaker 1: to the camp because you think this is ordinary but
- 10:17Speaker 1: it's bigger than you think because I'm able to do exceedingly,
- 10:21Speaker 1: abundantly above all that ye may ask or think. My
- 10:27Speaker 1: thoughts are above your thoughts, my ways above your ways.
- 10:29Speaker 1: As high as heaven is above the earth, so are
- 10:32Speaker 1: my thoughts above your thoughts and my ways above your ways.
- 10:35Speaker 1: And just because it starts out small does not mean
- 10:39Speaker 1: that it ends up small. That's why the Bible said,
- 10:42Speaker 1: despise not the day of small beginnings. Because whenever God's
- 10:46Speaker 1: getting ready to do great things in your life, He
- 10:48Speaker 1: tests you on small things. I said he tests you
- 10:52Speaker 1: on small things. Until you are faithful over a few,
- 10:57Speaker 1: you can't be faithful over many. Until you can be
- 11:01Speaker 1: trusted with lunch, you cannot be trusted with giants. Oh,
- 11:06Speaker 1: I want to talk to somebody that can't be trusted
- 11:08Speaker 1: with lunch. Because you're holding out for the big thing.
- 11:11Speaker 1: And when the big thing comes, you're going to be amazing.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Until then, you're just lazy and slothful and laid back
- 11:16Speaker 1: and taking it easy. And you don't understand it is
- 11:19Speaker 1: how you handle the little things that determines what's coming
- 11:22Speaker 1: next in your life.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Get your head right.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Today, today, today, today is an opportunity for you to
- 11:29Speaker 1: get your head right. Today, people ignore the performance of
- 11:34Speaker 1: little things waiting on.
- 11:34Speaker 2: The next big thing. But the next big thing is
- 11:38Speaker 2: a little thing. I'm going to say that again. The
- 11:41Speaker 2: next big thing is a little thing.
- 11:46Speaker 1: If David had overslept, he would have got there too late.
- 11:52Speaker 1: And if he would have got there too late, he
- 11:54Speaker 1: would have missed the greatest moment of his life five
- 11:58Speaker 1: minutes later.
- 11:59Speaker 2: And none of it would have happened.
- 12:00Speaker 1: 20 minutes later, and he would have missed this earth-shattering
- 12:05Speaker 1: experience that was to come on his life. Suppose David
- 12:09Speaker 1: was late with lunch. That's why you're not ready to
- 12:14Speaker 1: be great until you think everything is important. Until everything
- 12:18Speaker 1: matters to you. If David had gotten there late, he
- 12:21Speaker 1: would have missed it. Had David shown up early, he
- 12:23Speaker 1: would have been premature. The timing has got to be right. Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock.
- 12:29Speaker 1: With God, everything is about timing. With God, everything is
- 12:33Speaker 1: about timing. There's a time to mourn, and there's a
- 12:35Speaker 1: time to laugh, and there's a time to cry, and
- 12:38Speaker 1: there's a time to plant, and there's a time to harvest,
- 12:41Speaker 1: and there's a time that God wants you to be
- 12:43Speaker 1: there with lunch. And he does not tell you that
- 12:46Speaker 1: the lunch is a trip switch that is going to
- 12:49Speaker 1: connect you with your destiny. He just tells you that
- 12:51Speaker 1: it's lunch and sees will you be there on time.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Look at your neighbor and say, show up on time.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Oh, my God. Sharp on time.
- 13:02Speaker 1: David showed up as the fight was starting. He was
- 13:05Speaker 1: exactly where he was supposed to be when he was
- 13:10Speaker 1: supposed to be there.
- 13:11Speaker 2: That is absolutely amazing.
- 13:14Speaker 1: The cataclysmic explosion of destiny and time collides when David
- 13:20Speaker 1: jumps off of his camel and shows up just as
- 13:24Speaker 1: the battle has gone into array and the Philistines have
- 13:27Speaker 1: begun to march out to attack Israel. David shows up
- 13:30Speaker 1: in that exact moment because it was predestined. It was predestined.
- 13:37Speaker 1: It was predestined for generations to generations to generations. God
- 13:42Speaker 1: has been setting things up. I don't know who I'm
- 13:43Speaker 1: talking to, but you're about to walk into something that
- 13:46Speaker 1: God has been setting up for a long time. My
- 13:49Speaker 1: second lesson I want to get to you is showing
- 13:51Speaker 1: up for the battle is half the battle. Just showing
- 13:54Speaker 1: up for the battle is half the battle. Just showing up.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Just being in your place. Just being where you're supposed
- 14:00Speaker 1: to be when you're supposed to be there is half
- 14:03Speaker 1: the battle. You don't have to have all the answers.
- 14:05Speaker 1: You don't have to have all the solutions. You don't
- 14:07Speaker 1: have to have the favor of the army. You don't
- 14:10Speaker 1: have to have the support of your brethren. Just show up.
- 14:13Speaker 1: That's why the devil doesn't want you to be where
- 14:15Speaker 1: you're supposed to be when you're supposed to be there
- 14:17Speaker 1: because half the battle is determined by showing up on time.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Somebody shout hallelujah. And I want you to understand for David,
- 14:26Speaker 1: it is just another morning. It's just another moment. For Israel,
- 14:30Speaker 1: it's just another battle. For the Philistines, it's just another fight.
- 14:35Speaker 1: But for God, for God, this is a careful orchestration
- 14:40Speaker 1: of the providence of God. When we start to understand
- 14:43Speaker 1: the providence of God, providence is the timely preparation for
- 14:47Speaker 1: future eventualities. The timely preparation for future eventualities. When you
- 14:53Speaker 1: talk about God's providence, you talk about the things that
- 14:56Speaker 1: God has been working on before David's father ever met
- 15:00Speaker 1: his mother. God was working on this morning. Do you
- 15:03Speaker 1: hear what I'm saying to you? It is only in
- 15:06Speaker 1: this trip that we realize why David's great-great-great-grandmother, Naomi, had
- 15:12Speaker 1: to leave her home and go over into Moab. For
- 15:16Speaker 1: had Naomi not gone over into Moab, and there she
- 15:19Speaker 1: found her sons getting married to a Moabitess named Ruth,
- 15:24Speaker 1: and had she not lost her sons, and had she
- 15:26Speaker 1: not lost her husband, and had she not spent 10
- 15:29Speaker 1: years in Moab, and had she not decided after 10 years,
- 15:33Speaker 1: I'm going back. to Bethlehem, and had Ruth not decided
- 15:37Speaker 1: to go with her mother-in-law back to Bethlehem, she would
- 15:42Speaker 1: not have met Boaz. And had she not met Boaz,
- 15:46Speaker 1: they wouldn't have had the baby Obed. And had they
- 15:49Speaker 1: not had the baby Obed, they wouldn't have had the
- 15:51Speaker 1: grandchild Jesse. And had they not had Jesse, they wouldn't
- 15:55Speaker 1: have had David. All of this God has been working
- 15:58Speaker 1: on for several generations, and it was important. that David's
- 16:03Speaker 1: great-great-grandparents would trace all the way back to Boaz.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Boaz.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Boaz and Ruth, that they would meet and that they
- 16:12Speaker 1: would fall in love and that they would mate and
- 16:14Speaker 1: that through their lineage that David would come because God
- 16:17Speaker 1: is positioning David to be king on the throne and
- 16:21Speaker 1: he has to start the kingdom out with a kid.
- 16:26Speaker 2: He has been working on this for years.
- 16:30Speaker 1: And though this morning feels like an ordinary morning, just another, oh, God,
- 16:36Speaker 1: I got to go. Daddy wants me to carry this.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Had he not gotten up that morning, he would have
- 16:43Speaker 1: missed the moment that God had been planning for four generations. Wow.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I don't know who I'm talking to, but you are
- 16:52Speaker 1: just now coming into a moment that God has been
- 16:55Speaker 1: setting up for four generations. Setting the stage that you
- 17:00Speaker 1: would be in the right place at the right time.
- 17:02Speaker 1: First of all, that you would be. First of all,
- 17:05Speaker 1: that you would be. And then that you would be
- 17:08Speaker 1: at the right place at the right time. And this
- 17:10Speaker 1: is the time that David now intersects with destiny. David
- 17:16Speaker 1: goes down to meet Saul, not as his successor. He
- 17:22Speaker 1: goes down to meet Saul as if he is running
- 17:25Speaker 1: an Uber service with a lunch. God has strange ways
- 17:30Speaker 1: of connecting you in the right place at the right time. Oh, hallelujah.
- 17:35Speaker 2: That brings me to lesson number three.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Providence makes sense out of the nonsensical things in life.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Providence makes sense out of the nonsensical things in life.
- 17:45Speaker 1: Naomi couldn't figure out, why did my husband die? Why
- 17:52Speaker 1: did I lose my sons? And why did I leave
- 17:56Speaker 1: Bethlehem to escape a famine and go to Moab for
- 18:01Speaker 1: 10 years only to find out that the people who
- 18:03Speaker 1: stayed in Bethlehem didn't die?
- 18:08Speaker 2: It wasn't really the famine that drew her to Moab
- 18:11Speaker 2: in the first place.
- 18:13Speaker 1: It was God orchestrating her life so that she could
- 18:15Speaker 1: bring Ruth into the lineage. So that God could show
- 18:19Speaker 1: us that he had a plan that included the idolaters,
- 18:23Speaker 1: the Gentiles, the unworthy. That in the lineage of Jesus'
- 18:27Speaker 1: bloodline would come a Moabitess. And when she comes home
- 18:31Speaker 1: with Ruth, she just does not get it. She is
- 18:35Speaker 1: bitter and she's upset. Because a lot of things you're
- 18:38Speaker 1: trying to understand today, it may take years or generations
- 18:42Speaker 1: for you to understand why you had to lose, what
- 18:45Speaker 1: you had to lose, who you had to lose, when
- 18:48Speaker 1: you had to lose it. Nobody teaches about providence, but
- 18:51Speaker 1: providence lets you know that your God is a strategist.
- 18:55Speaker 1: He said, I lift up this one and I take
- 18:57Speaker 1: down that one. I am God and besides me there
- 19:00Speaker 1: is no other. I decide who comes up and I
- 19:03Speaker 1: decide who comes down. I am the potter and you
- 19:06Speaker 1: are the clay and you got to trust me. Even
- 19:10Speaker 1: when it doesn't make sense, you got to trust that
- 19:12Speaker 1: my providence is stitching something together that your great, great, great,
- 19:15Speaker 1: great grandchildren are going to benefit from. I don't know
- 19:18Speaker 1: whether you can handle that, but I'm preaching to somebody.
- 19:21Speaker 1: I'm preaching to somebody right now that it doesn't have
- 19:23Speaker 1: to make sense to you, Naomi. I don't have to
- 19:26Speaker 1: explain why I had you move. I don't have to
- 19:28Speaker 1: even explain why you lost your husband. I don't even
- 19:31Speaker 1: have to explain why you lost your child. But over time,
- 19:35Speaker 1: you will see that I never lost you. control of
- 19:40Speaker 1: your life for a moment. Good God almighty. I've never
- 19:44Speaker 1: lost control of your life even when it felt like
- 19:48Speaker 1: your life was out of control. when it felt like
- 19:50Speaker 1: the devil run, when it felt like the devil had
- 19:53Speaker 1: the victory, when it felt like you had utterly failed.
- 19:55Speaker 2: I've never lost control. I work all.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Things after the counsel of my own will and I
- 20:01Speaker 1: move this and I move that and I move the
- 20:03Speaker 1: other and I bring this one in and I take
- 20:04Speaker 1: that one out. Because I'm working on something, and it's
- 20:07Speaker 1: going to be bigger than you think. It's going to
- 20:09Speaker 1: be bigger than you think. I've been working on this
- 20:10Speaker 1: for generations. It's going to be bigger than you think.
- 20:14Speaker 1: So when David comes walking down to the battlefield carrying lunch,
- 20:18Speaker 1: he thinks it's about the lunch. It's not about his lunch.
- 20:24Speaker 1: It's about his legacy. It's not about the bread. It's
- 20:29Speaker 1: not about the food. It's not about the cheese. That
- 20:32Speaker 1: was just what God used. To get you in the
- 20:36Speaker 1: field of your destiny. Like your great-great-grandmother was gleaning in
- 20:40Speaker 1: the corners of the field. I orchestrated her to be
- 20:43Speaker 1: over in the corner of the field so that Boaz
- 20:46Speaker 1: would look out there and see her and she would
- 20:48Speaker 1: catch his eye. Had she been late, she would have
- 20:51Speaker 1: never met him. God will put you in the right
- 20:54Speaker 1: place at the right time because he's working all things
- 20:57Speaker 1: after the counsel of his own will. And he'll cause
- 21:00Speaker 1: you to love who you love and like who you
- 21:02Speaker 1: like and meet who you meet and be drawn to
- 21:04Speaker 1: who you're drawn to because what God is doing is
- 21:07Speaker 1: bigger than you think. Now David is down here carrying
- 21:11Speaker 1: lunch into legacy. And he gets down just in time
- 21:18Speaker 1: that he can hear the hoof prints. Can't you hear
- 21:21Speaker 1: the hoof prints? The hoof prints of the Philistines coming.
- 21:24Speaker 1: And they're coming out against the armies of Israel. And
- 21:27Speaker 1: David is coming with his lunch. And he harries up
- 21:30Speaker 1: and checks his camel in for somebody to take care
- 21:32Speaker 1: of his stuff. And runs down to the battlefield to
- 21:35Speaker 1: talk to the men to see how his brothers are
- 21:38Speaker 1: carrying his lunch.
- 21:40Speaker 2: But it's bigger than you think.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Just when they see the army of the Philistines out
- 21:46Speaker 1: from the behind the ranks of the front lines of
- 21:49Speaker 1: the army of the Philistines comes this giant named Goliath.
- 21:54Speaker 1: And David happened, he happened, he happened to be there
- 21:59Speaker 1: at the moment that Goliath was first presented. And the
- 22:04Speaker 1: Bible says in the 23rd verse, and he talked with them.
- 22:07Speaker 1: And behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath,
- 22:11Speaker 1: Goliath by name, out of the army of the Philistines
- 22:14Speaker 1: and spake according to the same words.
- 22:16Speaker 2: And David heard them.
- 22:20Speaker 1: When Goliath came out there talking smack, David heard them. Now,
- 22:27Speaker 1: everybody heard them, but the Bible doesn't mention who else
- 22:29Speaker 1: heard them because they heard it, but it didn't affect
- 22:31Speaker 1: them like it affected David. When David heard him say that,
- 22:36Speaker 1: David thought, now, wait a minute now. Wait a minute.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should insult the
- 22:46Speaker 1: armies of the living God? And so David starts asking questions.
- 22:50Speaker 1: What shall be given to the man?
- 22:53Speaker 2: To the man.
- 22:54Speaker 1: The kid asks the question, what shall be given to
- 22:57Speaker 1: the man that killeth Goliath? And it seems so crazy
- 23:06Speaker 1: because David was so little and Goliath was so big.
- 23:11Speaker 1: And now you have to grapple when you have a
- 23:14Speaker 1: great challenge and a small stature.
- 23:18Speaker 2: The dichotomy between the two that have stepped.
- 23:21Speaker 1: On the stage is so wide that it seems insurmountable.
- 23:26Speaker 1: How could something so little go after something so big?
- 23:31Speaker 1: Somebody has got a great big vision and a little
- 23:35Speaker 1: bit of money. Somebody's got a great big calling and
- 23:41Speaker 1: a little tiny church. Somebody's got a great big dream
- 23:45Speaker 1: and a little bit of help. The dichotomy between the
- 23:49Speaker 1: smallness of the boy And the height of the giant
- 23:53Speaker 1: is an opportunity for God to show himself strong. Don't
- 23:58Speaker 1: you think that God could have used a big man
- 24:00Speaker 1: against a big man? Don't you think that God could
- 24:03Speaker 1: have raised up a giant against a giant? But God said,
- 24:07Speaker 1: my strength is made perfect in weakness. So I'll choose
- 24:12Speaker 1: the foolish things of the world to confound the wise.
- 24:16Speaker 1: I want to talk to somebody that's listening at me
- 24:18Speaker 1: right now who has felt inadequate. I want you to
- 24:23Speaker 1: see the dichotomy between the big tall giant and the
- 24:26Speaker 1: little tiny boy. I want you to understand that historians,
- 24:30Speaker 1: Jewish historians, suggest to us that David was only about 4'10,
- 24:33Speaker 1: maybe 5 feet at the most. Just a little boy,
- 24:35Speaker 1: just a short little boy, 4'10, not even 5 feet.
- 24:40Speaker 1: On the other hand, some have suggested that Goliath was
- 24:43Speaker 1: as tall as 9 feet tall.
- 24:45Speaker 2: So he was, in essence, twice the size of David.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Little boy. Huge giant.
- 24:54Speaker 1: And anybody who was standing on the outside would think
- 24:57Speaker 1: as big as God is, God would be with the
- 24:59Speaker 1: big guy.
- 25:00Speaker 2: But no, God.
- 25:02Speaker 1: God. Good God, Almighty God. It's with a little guy
- 25:10Speaker 1: I never will forget. When I started pastoring, they all
- 25:12Speaker 1: made fun of me, and they called me the boy pastor.
- 25:15Speaker 1: And I was preaching in Montgomery, West Virginia, and I
- 25:17Speaker 1: had about seven members, and they said, that boy is
- 25:19Speaker 1: going out there to preach. And they was trying to
- 25:21Speaker 1: make me feel bad about myself, but I fought them back.
- 25:24Speaker 1: I said, David was a boy when he killed Goliath,
- 25:27Speaker 1: but it didn't make him any less dead.
- 25:30Speaker 2: God will use a little thing.
- 25:33Speaker 1: That's why the enemy is trying to make you feel inadequate,
- 25:37Speaker 1: because he wants to slander you. your potentials and your
- 25:41Speaker 1: possibilities and deactivate your faith and your courage. And he's
- 25:45Speaker 1: using how things look to you to intimidate you so
- 25:49Speaker 1: that you don't think you're the woman for the job,
- 25:51Speaker 1: so that you don't think that you can preach well enough,
- 25:53Speaker 1: so that you don't think that you can sing well enough,
- 25:55Speaker 1: so that you don't think that you're worthy of where
- 25:57Speaker 1: God is about to place you, so that you don't
- 25:59Speaker 1: think that you're worthy to hang out with the crowd
- 26:01Speaker 1: that you're about to step into and you're coming into.
- 26:04Speaker 1: the situation from a perspective of smallness, because if the
- 26:07Speaker 1: devil can convince you that you are small, you are
- 26:10Speaker 1: already defeated. The Bible said that we were in their
- 26:14Speaker 1: sight as grasshoppers, and so were we in our own sight.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Whenever you think you're a grasshopper, you're not ready to
- 26:20Speaker 1: possess the promised land. You got to know who you are.
- 26:24Speaker 1: in spite of your stature. You have to understand who
- 26:26Speaker 1: you are in spite of your wallet. You have to
- 26:29Speaker 1: know who you are in spite of your academics. You
- 26:32Speaker 1: have to know who you are in spite of your
- 26:33Speaker 1: husband leaving you. You have to know who you are
- 26:36Speaker 1: and what you got. I rebuke the spirit of inferiority.
- 26:40Speaker 1: I rebuke the spirit of inadequacy. I rebuke the spirit
- 26:43Speaker 1: of incapacitation. Little is much when God gets in it.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Little boy.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Of all the people in Israel, God uses the little thing.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Good God of mercy.
- 26:57Speaker 1: God who owns heaven and earth. God who could have
- 27:00Speaker 1: sent the angels from heaven. God who could have sent
- 27:03Speaker 1: Michael and Gabriel. So the little boy to get into
- 27:08Speaker 1: a big fight. I want to talk to somebody that's
- 27:10Speaker 1: in a big fight right now. And the odds are
- 27:13Speaker 1: against you. And it doesn't look good. And you're trying
- 27:15Speaker 1: to get up your confidence. And you're trying to get
- 27:17Speaker 1: up your strength. And Satan is so afraid that you
- 27:21Speaker 1: would feel capable that he will cause your own brother,
- 27:27Speaker 1: your own brethren to rise up against you and belittle
- 27:32Speaker 1: you in front of everybody. And there David was, the
- 27:35Speaker 1: little boy, coming up against a big thing. a thing
- 27:38Speaker 1: that was twice his size. You would think that his
- 27:40Speaker 1: brothers would have supported him, but the enemy used his
- 27:44Speaker 1: brethren to try to further deflate his confidence. Eliab said,
- 27:49Speaker 1: what are you doing up here? I know your foolery
- 27:51Speaker 1: and your trickery. Why don't you go back home? Eliab
- 27:54Speaker 1: is reinforcing David's spirit of inadequacies. I want you to
- 27:59Speaker 1: identify your Eliabs. Everybody has those Eliabs in their lives.
- 28:05Speaker 1: People that you let in that you thought would support you.
- 28:08Speaker 1: People that you came down to help, and instead of
- 28:11Speaker 1: them helping you, they bring you down.
- 28:12Speaker 2: See, you don't get it yet.
- 28:14Speaker 1: David was coming to bring Eliab's lunch, and instead of
- 28:17Speaker 1: Eliab being grateful for the lunch, Eliab is trying to
- 28:19Speaker 1: tear down. Have you ever tried to help somebody who
- 28:23Speaker 1: wasn't trying to help you? Have you ever tried to
- 28:25Speaker 1: encourage somebody who wasn't trying to encourage you?
- 28:28Speaker 2: Have you ever?
- 28:29Speaker 1: Bad somebody that was trying to bring you down to
- 28:33Speaker 1: your knees and make you feel inferior in front of people.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Open to humiliation. He said, where are them sheep, them
- 28:40Speaker 1: few sheep you're supposed to be taking care of? I
- 28:43Speaker 1: could have understood it if it was anybody else but
- 28:45Speaker 1: his brother. I could have understood it if it would
- 28:48Speaker 1: have been any other soldier. I could have understood it
- 28:50Speaker 1: had it come from the Philistines. I could have understood
- 28:52Speaker 1: it had it come from somebody in the community. I
- 28:55Speaker 1: could have understood it had it come from the camp.
- 28:57Speaker 1: But from his own house, he is attacked. Eliab rose
- 29:02Speaker 1: up against him. And I came to speak to somebody
- 29:05Speaker 1: who was wounded by somebody that you loved. I wanted
- 29:10Speaker 1: to come to talk to somebody who already had to
- 29:14Speaker 1: fight off feeling inadequate. And instead of getting some help
- 29:18Speaker 1: from the people that love you, they reinforced your insecurity.
- 29:22Speaker 1: They laughed at your dream. And they told you, you
- 29:25Speaker 1: don't belong on the level you're on. But I came
- 29:30Speaker 1: to tell you, if you didn't belong in this spot,
- 29:32Speaker 1: God wouldn't have put you in it. And if you
- 29:34Speaker 1: didn't have what it takes, God wouldn't have brought you
- 29:37Speaker 1: down here into this fight. And if you didn't deserve
- 29:39Speaker 1: to be here, you would not have been here.
- 29:42Speaker 2: You were called for such a time as this.
- 29:46Speaker 1: And this moment, this moment right here, this moment right here,
- 29:51Speaker 1: this moment right here, God told me to tell you,
- 29:56Speaker 1: it's bigger than you think. It's bigger than you It's
- 29:59Speaker 1: bigger than you think. It's not about the bread. It's
- 30:02Speaker 1: not about the cheese. It's not about the seed. It's
- 30:04Speaker 1: not about the grain. This thing that's happening right now
- 30:07Speaker 1: is bigger than you think. That's why Eliab is trying
- 30:09Speaker 1: to discourage you because you're on to something. Look at
- 30:11Speaker 1: somebody and holler, you're on to something. David didn't plan
- 30:18Speaker 1: to fight that day. It wasn't what he saw. It
- 30:21Speaker 1: wasn't what he planned. It wasn't what he had in mind.
- 30:23Speaker 1: And when you just looked at what he saw, you
- 30:26Speaker 1: would see how he could feel inadequate. He's no match
- 30:30Speaker 1: for Goliath. He's not the size of Goliath. He has
- 30:33Speaker 1: no weapons like Goliath. He has no army backup like Goliath.
- 30:37Speaker 1: If you look at what he saw, you would quit.
- 30:40Speaker 1: But the Bible doesn't emphasize what he saw. The Bible
- 30:45Speaker 1: emphasizes what he heard. It doesn't say when David saw that.
- 30:50Speaker 1: It says when he heard that. In fact, the sentence
- 30:53Speaker 1: is so simple. And David heard him. For we walk
- 30:59Speaker 1: not by sight, but by faith. And faith cometh by what? Hearing.
- 31:04Speaker 1: And hearing by the word of God. This is the
- 31:07Speaker 1: fight between sight and hearing. Are you going to believe
- 31:12Speaker 1: the way it looks? Or are you going to believe
- 31:15Speaker 1: what you heard? And David heard him. Why did it
- 31:19Speaker 1: say that David heard him and it doesn't mention anybody
- 31:22Speaker 1: else hearing him? Are all the other men deaf? Absolutely not.
- 31:27Speaker 1: It is not just that David heard Goliath. It is
- 31:31Speaker 1: how he heard Goliath. It was how he heard him.
- 31:36Speaker 1: He heard it as an outrage. He heard it as
- 31:39Speaker 1: an insult. He heard it as a mockery. He heard
- 31:43Speaker 1: it in a way that said, I will not let
- 31:45Speaker 1: this go down. He heard it as a solace, as
- 31:48Speaker 1: a challenge. He heard it as something to be riled
- 31:51Speaker 1: against and to be fought. How you hear a thing
- 31:54Speaker 1: determines how you respond to it. Some people can hear
- 31:58Speaker 1: it and run. Everybody else heard it and they were horrified.
- 32:03Speaker 1: David heard it and he got hot. Watch how you
- 32:07Speaker 1: react to what you hear because it is some indication
- 32:11Speaker 1: to what you have been empowered to change. You can't
- 32:14Speaker 1: change what you're not insulted by. You can't change it
- 32:21Speaker 1: until you hear it right, until you hear it as
- 32:24Speaker 1: a challenge. Until you hear it as an insult. Until
- 32:27Speaker 1: you hear it as something to be fought against. That's
- 32:30Speaker 1: lesson number four. Lesson number four is this.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Get this out.
- 32:33Speaker 1: What you believe will always overcome what you see. What
- 32:37Speaker 1: you believe will always overcome what you see. I don't
- 32:42Speaker 1: care what you see. I don't care how out of
- 32:46Speaker 1: sorts it is. I don't care how dichotomous it is.
- 32:50Speaker 1: I don't care how ridiculous it is.
- 32:53Speaker 2: What you believe.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Will always fight off what you see. Somebody right now
- 32:58Speaker 1: is in a fight and everything you see says this
- 33:01Speaker 1: is impossible and it's ridiculous and I don't have the
- 33:03Speaker 1: resources and I don't have the backup and I don't
- 33:05Speaker 1: have the education and I don't have the money and
- 33:07Speaker 1: I don't have the training and I feel so small
- 33:10Speaker 1: and I feel so inadequate. I didn't ask you how
- 33:13Speaker 1: you feel. I asked you what do you believe? David
- 33:17Speaker 1: believed that God was not to be trifled with. David
- 33:20Speaker 1: believed in the God of Israel. David believed in the
- 33:23Speaker 1: armies of the living God. David believed that he was
- 33:26Speaker 1: bigger than the enemy. David believed that he had the victory.
- 33:29Speaker 1: David believed that he was an overcomer. David believed that
- 33:32Speaker 1: he was more than enough. David believed that if God
- 33:34Speaker 1: sent him, he was more than the world sent against him.
- 33:37Speaker 1: David so believed that he could do it, that even
- 33:40Speaker 1: without Eliab's help, without the support of his friends, without
- 33:44Speaker 1: the backup of his family, David said, I'll fight him.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Let's get after it. Let's get down. You mess with
- 33:52Speaker 1: the wrong black man this time. Let's go. You underestimate
- 33:58Speaker 1: me just because I'm four foot ten. Don't you look
- 34:01Speaker 1: at what you see. You need to look at what's
- 34:03Speaker 1: down inside of me.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Greater is he that's in me. Hallelujah. Who am I
- 34:09Speaker 2: preaching to?
- 34:11Speaker 1: You've been underestimated all of your life. They've always told
- 34:15Speaker 1: you what you couldn't be and what you couldn't do
- 34:17Speaker 1: and what you couldn't have and what you couldn't become,
- 34:19Speaker 1: but the devil is alive. This is a showdown moment
- 34:22Speaker 1: in your life. This is a moment for God to
- 34:24Speaker 1: show himself strong in your life. This is a moment
- 34:27Speaker 1: for God to show up. And in spite of how
- 34:29Speaker 1: you feel, God is going to do what you believe.
- 34:32Speaker 1: So speak to your feelings and tell yourself to get
- 34:35Speaker 1: a grip. Speak to your emotions and call them up
- 34:39Speaker 1: unto order. Speak to every negative voice that says you
- 34:42Speaker 1: belong back in the sheep field and say, no, I'm going.
- 34:45Speaker 2: To fight today. I'm going to fight today.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Somebody say, I'm going to fight today.
- 34:48Speaker 2: I'm going to fight today. Say it. I'm going to
- 34:50Speaker 2: fight today. I'm going to fight today.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Win or lose, shoot or dribble, I'm.
- 34:56Speaker 2: Going to fight today.
- 34:57Speaker 1: Hallelujah.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Oh.
- 35:06Speaker 1: You will not get the victory. You will not defeat me.
- 35:11Speaker 1: You will not bully me. You will not hold me.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Greater is he.
- 35:21Speaker 1: There he stood with his four-foot self. There he stood
- 35:27Speaker 1: with no sword and no shield. There he stood with
- 35:31Speaker 1: no training and no background. He wasn't even enlisted in
- 35:34Speaker 1: the army. He wasn't even in the service. But he
- 35:37Speaker 1: made up in his mind, I will fight you back.
- 35:41Speaker 1: I will fight you back. And in spite of his stature,
- 35:46Speaker 1: God brought him before the king.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Your gifts.
- 35:51Speaker 1: Will make room for you. And bring you before the king.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Who ever heard of such a thing? That a boy
- 35:58Speaker 1: would be brought to the king as a solution to
- 36:01Speaker 1: a national crisis over top of the whole army. They
- 36:06Speaker 1: brought in this little boy and said, this little boy
- 36:09Speaker 1: down here is talking smack. While the army is running,
- 36:14Speaker 1: he's talking smack. Now the army looks big. But David
- 36:18Speaker 1: was big on the inside. He was little on the outside,
- 36:21Speaker 1: but he was big on the inside. And if you're
- 36:23Speaker 1: big enough on the inside, they'll bring you before kings.
- 36:26Speaker 1: They'll set you before princes. They'll move you into positions
- 36:29Speaker 1: of power. If you know who you are, if you
- 36:31Speaker 1: walk in the room like you're supposed to be there,
- 36:34Speaker 1: people start paying attention. And all of the soldiers that
- 36:37Speaker 1: should have been on the field brought David before the king.
- 36:41Speaker 1: And the Lord told me to tell you to get
- 36:43Speaker 1: ready for the shift. Get ready for the shift. Get
- 36:49Speaker 1: ready for the shift. I know you're scared, but get
- 36:51Speaker 1: ready for the shift. I know you're nervous, but get
- 36:53Speaker 1: ready for the shift. I know you feel incompetent, but
- 36:56Speaker 1: get ready for the shift. I know you have insecurities,
- 36:58Speaker 1: but get ready for the shift. I know you feel insufficient,
- 37:01Speaker 1: but get ready for the shift. God is going to
- 37:06Speaker 1: bring you before the king. And he sent me here
- 37:09Speaker 1: to tell you that it's bigger than you think. And
- 37:11Speaker 1: here David is standing before the king. And they brought
- 37:13Speaker 1: him before the king. And the king told him, what
- 37:15Speaker 1: you come to do? He said, I came to kill Goliath.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Now look at this.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Whoever killed Goliath would win Saul's daughter. Whoever killed Goliath
- 37:28Speaker 1: would be enriched financially. Whoever killed Goliath, their family would
- 37:32Speaker 1: never have to pay taxes the rest of their life.
- 37:36Speaker 1: David is fighting Goliath. for a family that don't even
- 37:40Speaker 1: like him. You haven't fought until you fought for somebody
- 37:48Speaker 1: who don't even appreciate you.
- 37:50Speaker 2: You haven't fought until.
- 37:51Speaker 1: You fought for somebody who thinks you don't even belong
- 37:54Speaker 1: in the place that you're in. But the reason David
- 37:57Speaker 1: was on the battlefield was if he killed Goliath, his daddy,
- 38:01Speaker 1: who didn't even like him, would no longer have to
- 38:04Speaker 1: pay taxes. Sometimes You have to fight even when people
- 38:09Speaker 1: don't appreciate you. And David walks in the room and
- 38:13Speaker 1: he says, I'll take him on. And he said, I
- 38:15Speaker 1: will kill Goliath. Killing Goliath changed David's family's life. Killing
- 38:23Speaker 1: Goliath changed David's life. Killing Goliath changed how the army
- 38:30Speaker 1: saw him. Killing Goliath set David up to be positioned
- 38:35Speaker 1: to be king. As I get ready to come to
- 38:37Speaker 1: the close of this message, I want to warn you,
- 38:40Speaker 1: whenever God is about to elevate you, there's always.
- 38:43Speaker 2: A Goliath in front of you.
- 38:46Speaker 1: Goliath is always the gatekeeper on the next move of God.
- 38:50Speaker 1: Who am I talking to? Until you find your Goliath,
- 38:54Speaker 1: you won't find your throne. Whenever you're close to your throne,
- 38:58Speaker 1: I'm telling you what I know in my personal experience,
- 39:01Speaker 1: whenever you're close to your throne, Goliath will always stick
- 39:05Speaker 1: up his ugly head to fight you. He is always
- 39:08Speaker 1: an alarm system that you're close to the treasure. Satan
- 39:13Speaker 1: always leaves the Goliath to guard your treasure. When you
- 39:18Speaker 1: find your Goliath, you have found your treasure. Wherever the
- 39:22Speaker 1: giant is, that's where destiny is calling you. And when
- 39:27Speaker 1: you see the giant, don't run from the giant. Because
- 39:30Speaker 1: if you run from the giant, you will run from
- 39:32Speaker 1: your destiny. While everybody else was running away from it,
- 39:35Speaker 1: David was running toward it because he knew that the
- 39:38Speaker 1: giant was the key to the next dimension in his life.
- 39:42Speaker 1: Now hear me, I feel a prophetic influence coming over
- 39:45Speaker 1: me right now. That Goliath that you see right now
- 39:49Speaker 1: is proof positive that he's guarding your treasure. When you
- 39:55Speaker 1: take him out, God is going to open up something
- 39:58Speaker 1: amazing for you. Don't run from the giant. Run at him.
- 40:06Speaker 1: Run straight at him. Now, you have to understand, they
- 40:10Speaker 1: tried to give David Saul's armor. David put it on,
- 40:13Speaker 1: but it didn't fit. You can't fight your Goliath being
- 40:17Speaker 1: somebody else. You have to fight your Goliath as yourself
- 40:21Speaker 1: because it was you that God brought to the place.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Don't show up as a stranger. Who am I talking to?
- 40:29Speaker 1: Don't show up as nobody else. It's you that God blessed.
- 40:34Speaker 1: It's you that God called. It's you that God anointed.
- 40:37Speaker 1: It's you that God set aside. It's you that God
- 40:39Speaker 1: prepared for such a moment as this. Show up as yourself.
- 40:44Speaker 1: And he shook off Saul's armor, and he said, I can't.
- 40:47Speaker 1: I can't fight in your armor.
- 40:49Speaker 2: And you know what?
- 40:49Speaker 1: I always made the mistake whenever I read this text.
- 40:53Speaker 1: I thought that David left home with five smooth stones,
- 40:56Speaker 1: but he didn't. He said, wait a minute, all he
- 40:59Speaker 1: had with him was a bag, a shepherd's bag. And
- 41:03Speaker 1: he had to go down to the brook and get
- 41:05Speaker 1: him some stones. Because you have to realize, David didn't
- 41:09Speaker 1: even come down there to fight. So this was an emergency.
- 41:14Speaker 1: And in an emergency, you got to use what's at
- 41:17Speaker 1: your disposal. In an emergency, you got to use what's
- 41:21Speaker 1: within your reach. In an emergency, you got to go
- 41:24Speaker 1: back to the basics. In an emergency, you got to
- 41:27Speaker 1: go back to your roots. Somebody said, how in the world,
- 41:29Speaker 1: after 43 years, can you stand to preach in an
- 41:32Speaker 1: empty church? I said, because I started in an empty church.
- 41:36Speaker 1: And in an emergency, I know how to go back.
- 41:40Speaker 1: I know how to go back. You messed with the
- 41:42Speaker 1: wrong one. And I know how.
- 41:47Speaker 2: I came out of the storefront. I know how to.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Stand flat footed all by myself and preach the unadulterated
- 41:54Speaker 1: word of God.
- 41:55Speaker 2: David knew how.
- 41:58Speaker 1: To fight with rocks. He didn't know nothing about shields.
- 42:01Speaker 1: He didn't know nothing about swords. He didn't know nothing
- 42:03Speaker 1: about catapults. He didn't know nothing about horses. All he
- 42:06Speaker 1: knew how to fight with was rocks. But whatever you're
- 42:08Speaker 1: good at, God will use something you got. God will
- 42:12Speaker 1: use something that you're used to. God will use something
- 42:14Speaker 1: that you're familiar with. And David, there David was, the
- 42:17Speaker 1: would-be king of Israel is down in the riverbed like
- 42:20Speaker 1: a child looking amongst the crawdads picking out rocks.
- 42:24Speaker 2: I want that one. That one's too rough.
- 42:28Speaker 1: I want that one right here and that one right there.
- 42:32Speaker 1: And he made him a weapon. He made him a weapon.
- 42:37Speaker 1: It wasn't even a slingshot. It was a shepherd's bag
- 42:40Speaker 1: turned into a slingshot. It was a bag. It was
- 42:44Speaker 1: a rag and a rock. And he ran down on
- 42:48Speaker 1: that field and said, what did you say? He ran
- 42:52Speaker 1: down on that field and the dichotomy was so strong
- 42:56Speaker 1: that Goliath snickered And that is it.
- 42:59Speaker 3: That's what they all got to send against me today.
- 43:02Speaker 3: That little boy with that rag in that rug, that's
- 43:06Speaker 3: what's going to kill me? What am I, a dog
- 43:09Speaker 3: that you send this kid down here to kill me?
- 43:12Speaker 3: The enemy was insulted that God would send so little
- 43:16Speaker 3: after so much. But what the devil didn't know is
- 43:20Speaker 3: that it's bigger than you think.
- 43:23Speaker 1: How?
- 43:25Speaker 2: The devil didn't know it? How?
- 43:31Speaker 1: That's what he don't know about you. He don't know
- 43:34Speaker 1: you bigger than he thinks. He don't know that you're
- 43:36Speaker 1: bigger than he thinks. He doesn't know that God's going
- 43:39Speaker 1: to use you in a greater way than he thinks.
- 43:40Speaker 1: In spite of how you grew up, in spite of
- 43:42Speaker 1: what happened in your childhood, in spite of your background,
- 43:44Speaker 1: in spite of your hardship, in spite of your insecurities,
- 43:48Speaker 1: the message that God gave me for you is that
- 43:52Speaker 1: it's bigger than you think.
- 43:54Speaker 2: And I close this message today. I want you to
- 43:57Speaker 2: understand this.
- 43:58Speaker 1: Whatever you had in your mind that God was going
- 44:01Speaker 1: to do, get it out. Whatever you thought was going
- 44:06Speaker 1: to happen, get rid of it. Whatever you thought God
- 44:10Speaker 1: might do in your life is too small. The Holy
- 44:13Speaker 1: Ghost said, this is bigger than you think. Lift your hands.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Open up your mouth. And say yes to the bigness.
- 44:26Speaker 1: With your four-foot self.
- 44:27Speaker 2: Hallelujah!
- 44:31Speaker 1: With your worried self. With your insecure, intimidated self. Let
- 44:36Speaker 1: God hear your voice. Because what he's about to do
- 44:40Speaker 1: in your life is bigger than you think. And I
- 44:45Speaker 1: know he lied and lurked. And I know they didn't
- 44:49Speaker 1: treat you right and they didn't welcome you. And I
- 44:52Speaker 1: know they didn't do... what you thought they would do
- 44:54Speaker 1: when you thought they would do it. But the Lord
- 44:58Speaker 1: sent me here to tell you the reason he's caused
- 45:01Speaker 1: all this hubbub in your life was to shift you
- 45:04Speaker 1: into position because what he's getting ready to do.
- 45:09Speaker 2: Is bigger. No, no, no, no.
- 45:14Speaker 1: It's bigger than that. Think again. It's bigger than that.
- 45:20Speaker 1: It's bigger than you think. What God is getting ready
- 45:23Speaker 1: to do in your life is bigger than that. So
- 45:29Speaker 1: I'll rehearse this for you. Number one, great people do
- 45:33Speaker 1: little things with excellence. Number two, showing up for the
- 45:38Speaker 1: battle is half the battle. Number three, providence makes sense
- 45:44Speaker 1: out of the nonsensical. And number four, what you believe
- 45:48Speaker 1: will always overcome.
- 45:50Speaker 2: What you seek.
- 45:53Speaker 1: He threw that little bitty rock at Goliath. He could
- 45:56Speaker 1: hardly even see it. But it was bigger than he thought.
- 46:02Speaker 1: It hit him in the head. It knocked him to
- 46:06Speaker 1: the ground. And then we see why David had no sword.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Because God used Goliath's sword to kill him. God is
- 46:17Speaker 1: going to use what your enemy is trying to use
- 46:21Speaker 1: on you. God's going to use it on him. And
- 46:26Speaker 1: Goliath was beheaded by his own sword. I want you
- 46:31Speaker 1: to praise God while your Goliath bleeds.
- 46:38Speaker 2: You will prevail.
- 46:44Speaker 1: And you don't have to be no taller. And you
- 46:48Speaker 1: don't have to be any richer. You don't have to
- 46:51Speaker 1: be any richer. And you don't have to be any
- 46:54Speaker 1: greater or any wiser or any smarter. Because you are bigger.
- 47:01Speaker 2: Than you think.
- 47:03Speaker 1: Because God is bigger than you think. Because your little
- 47:09Speaker 1: weapons that you got down out the brook that don't
- 47:11Speaker 1: look like nothing but the toys of a kid are
- 47:14Speaker 1: bigger than you think. Don't be afraid to throw it.
- 47:20Speaker 1: It looks small, but throw it. It looks small but invested.
- 47:24Speaker 1: It looks small but planted. Because your little seed might
- 47:28Speaker 1: be real small, but it's bigger than you think. For
- 47:33Speaker 1: what do you believe in God to do? It looks
- 47:36Speaker 1: paradoxical to everything that you're trying to do. But the
- 47:42Speaker 1: Lord told me to tell you that it's bigger than
- 47:47Speaker 1: you think. Thank you. It is no accident that you
- 47:51Speaker 1: are listening at this message today. This is the Sunday
- 47:57Speaker 1: that sets in array the armies of the living God.
- 48:01Speaker 1: And things are about to shift for you in spite
- 48:06Speaker 1: of how you feel.
- 48:08Speaker 2: You've been nursing your feelings all of your life. Your
- 48:12Speaker 2: victory is not in your.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Feelings, sweetheart. Your victory is in your faith. And David
- 48:22Speaker 1: heard him. Out of all the people that heard him,
- 48:28Speaker 1: when the right one heard him, he said, you're going
- 48:31Speaker 1: down today. You're going down today. And everything that was
- 48:40Speaker 1: promised to him, he got it. He ended up with
- 48:45Speaker 1: Saul's daughter. He ended up rich and wealthy. His family
- 48:50Speaker 1: ended up paying no taxes. And he ended up with
- 48:54Speaker 1: the throne of the king. Because this day that nobody
- 49:00Speaker 1: preaches about, this lunch that nobody preaches about, these tin
- 49:06Speaker 1: loaves that nobody preaches about, this ephah full of corn
- 49:09Speaker 1: that nobody preaches about, they don't preach about it because
- 49:12Speaker 1: they don't think it's big. They don't preach about the
- 49:16Speaker 1: trip and getting up early in the morning to bring
- 49:18Speaker 1: a lunch because they don't think it's big. but when
- 49:21Speaker 1: I read it God told me it's bigger than you
- 49:25Speaker 1: think I leave those words with you teach them to
- 49:29Speaker 1: your children tell them they're bigger than they think share
- 49:34Speaker 1: it with your spouse you're bigger than you think teach
- 49:38Speaker 1: it to your ministry You're bigger than you think. I
- 49:42Speaker 1: know the odds are against you and things don't look good.
- 49:45Speaker 1: But God said it's bigger than you think. Can I
- 49:48Speaker 1: pray with you right now? I want to have an
- 49:51Speaker 1: honest moment, just me and you. An honest moment with
- 49:57Speaker 1: people who don't feel like they're enough. Who late at
- 50:03Speaker 1: night when everybody else has gone to sleep feel like
- 50:05Speaker 1: that they're an imposter in their own life. And that
- 50:10Speaker 1: people respect you more than you respect yourself and they
- 50:13Speaker 1: believe in you and they expect things from you that
- 50:14Speaker 1: you don't think you can do yourself because they see
- 50:17Speaker 1: greatness and you measured yourself and you know you're only
- 50:21Speaker 1: four foot tall.
- 50:23Speaker 2: I want to pray with people.
- 50:27Speaker 1: Who have backed away from challenges because you measured yourself
- 50:34Speaker 1: who don't know how to receive compliments because you measured
- 50:36Speaker 1: yourself who don't know how to take on new challenges
- 50:41Speaker 1: and feel strange in big rooms with new people because
- 50:44Speaker 1: you feel so vulnerable, so insufficient, so less than. I
- 50:51Speaker 1: want you to just be honest and let me in
- 50:53Speaker 1: that room that you don't show anybody so you and
- 50:56Speaker 1: I can touch and agree. I don't want to pray
- 50:59Speaker 1: for who you pretend to be. I want to pray
- 51:02Speaker 1: for the four-foot you. Who's standing down in the field
- 51:07Speaker 1: looking at something that's so tall you can't see the
- 51:09Speaker 1: end of it? I want to pray with the part
- 51:13Speaker 1: of you that shrinks away from opportunities. That makes excuses
- 51:17Speaker 1: when you have chances. The part of you that tries
- 51:20Speaker 1: to stay quiet and be invisible in rooms. Because you
- 51:25Speaker 1: don't feel like you're enough. And you never have. But
- 51:30Speaker 1: today God wants to heal you. And he's going to
- 51:33Speaker 1: use this word to do it. And I know the
- 51:37Speaker 1: people that should have built you up didn't build you up.
- 51:39Speaker 1: And the voices that should have told you who you were,
- 51:41Speaker 1: they laughed at you and told you to go back
- 51:42Speaker 1: home and take care of your sheep.
- 51:44Speaker 2: But that's why God sent me.
- 51:47Speaker 1: To remind you, in spite of how you measure yourself,
- 51:54Speaker 1: you're bigger than you think. And as you and I
- 51:57Speaker 1: pray today, the Holy Spirit said, don't be scared. You're
- 52:05Speaker 1: standing on the precipice of a great opportunity. Don't forfeit it.
- 52:11Speaker 1: Don't make an excuse and run and hide. Because of
- 52:15Speaker 1: your feelings of inadequacy, you have always thought you were inadequate.
- 52:22Speaker 1: And you have always been wrong. I touch and agree
- 52:28Speaker 1: with you right now. In the name of Jesus. That
- 52:33Speaker 1: that part of you, that lying, abusive voice that has
- 52:38Speaker 1: always tormented you, would be rebuked by the power of God.
- 52:46Speaker 1: And that once and for all, you would stand in
- 52:50Speaker 1: the integrity of who God says you are. That once
- 52:57Speaker 1: and for all, you would run after the thing that's
- 53:00Speaker 1: running after you with rocks in your hand. Because you
- 53:04Speaker 1: know who you are. That once and for all, as
- 53:08Speaker 1: you and I touch and agree, that you would recognize
- 53:11Speaker 1: that your God is bigger than your biggest doubts and
- 53:13Speaker 1: your biggest fears and your biggest worries.
- 53:16Speaker 2: And because he's in you, you too.
- 53:22Speaker 1: Are bigger than you think.
- 53:24Speaker 2: If I don't rebuke this spirit, it's going to kill
- 53:26Speaker 2: your life. It's going to kill your ministry. It's going
- 53:28Speaker 2: to kill your opportunity. It's going to kill your marriage.
- 53:31Speaker 2: It's going to kill your family. It's going to kill
- 53:33Speaker 2: your career. It's going to kill your company.
- 53:36Speaker 1: I come against that.
