- 0:01Speaker 1: Live on Sky News. This is Sharry.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Good Evening will tonight.
- 0:08Speaker 3: We're standing by for breaking news from President Trump's emergency
- 0:12Speaker 3: meeting in the Situation Room.
- 0:14Speaker 2: The world waits to hear if.
- 0:16Speaker 3: America will join Israel's fight against Iran. Elin Levy will
- 0:21Speaker 3: join me live from Israel, and we'll cross to the
- 0:23Speaker 3: Australians Jonni Bashan and Leah Mendes in Tel Aviv. Trump
- 0:28Speaker 3: snubs Albanezi in a humiliating move showing just how irrelevant
- 0:33Speaker 3: Australia has become under his leadership. Holly Hughes and Broman
- 0:37Speaker 3: Bishop will give their view in a moment, And how
- 0:41Speaker 3: do Iranians feel about Israel's war on the Islamic Republic
- 0:45Speaker 3: or two Iranians will join me on the show this evening.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Plus the government accused of using super funds as it's piggybank.
- 0:54Speaker 3: Camer Milner and Andrew Caswell will be here later. But
- 0:58Speaker 3: first to a dramatic day as Donald Trump quit the
- 1:01Speaker 3: G seven in Canada to hold an emergency national security
- 1:05Speaker 3: meeting in the Situation Room. Back in Washington, the President
- 1:09Speaker 3: signaled he's prepared to join the war, declaring Iran can't
- 1:14Speaker 3: have a nuclear weapon. And that Tehran civilians should evacuate.
- 1:19Speaker 3: American carriers and aircraft are also being deployed to the
- 1:22Speaker 3: Middle East.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Well. International leaders hope.
- 1:26Speaker 3: That America and Iran may still return to the negotiating table,
- 1:30Speaker 3: but in my view this is increasingly unlikely. Trump is
- 1:35Speaker 3: clearly leaning towards backing Israel to finish the job, as
- 1:40Speaker 3: he's being urged to do by experienced rational heads. He's
- 1:45Speaker 3: clearly impressed with Israel's astonishing operation that's unprecedented this side
- 1:51Speaker 3: of World War II, and Israel has now crippled Iran's
- 1:55Speaker 3: propaganda arm, killed most senior military leaders, and damage both
- 2:00Speaker 3: nuclear and military ballistic missile sites, and Israel continues to
- 2:05Speaker 3: press ahead with its offensive. This was the dramatic moment
- 2:10Speaker 3: in Israeli missile hit an Iranian state owned media company
- 2:15Speaker 3: during a live broadcast.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Happy Happy Gas at.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Fay I mean, it's unbelievable. It's unprecedented to see something
- 2:43Speaker 3: like it, and that sort of power play is as
- 2:46Speaker 3: significant as a political assassination. It's taking back control or
- 2:51Speaker 3: trying to of the regime's narrative and trying to empower
- 2:55Speaker 3: Iranians to rise up. First, Israel took control of a
- 3:00Speaker 3: Iran's air defenses and now Iran's arsenal of missiles are
- 3:04Speaker 3: reportedly diminishing after Israel successfully destroyed a third of its launchers.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Israel has also taken out a growing number of its
- 3:13Speaker 3: top military commanders and nuclear scientists. They include these figures,
- 3:19Speaker 3: Major General Muhammad Bagheri, General Hussein Salami, nuclear scientist Feriduna Basi,
- 3:26Speaker 3: top military commander Ali Shadmani intelligence chief Mohammad Kazmi. And
- 3:33Speaker 3: it now seems that Supreme Leader Ayatola Ali Kamani has
- 3:37Speaker 3: few remaining friends Nettagna, who has even left open the
- 3:42Speaker 3: option of taking him out too. It's a point he
- 3:46Speaker 3: hinted at in an interview today.
- 3:50Speaker 4: The president flatly rejected a plan, an opportunity that the
- 3:56Speaker 4: you that the israelis I had to take out the
- 3:59Speaker 4: supremely do you understand his concern? My understanding is his
- 4:03Speaker 4: concern is that this would escalate the conflict beyond where
- 4:07Speaker 4: it is already.
- 4:08Speaker 1: It's not going to escalate the conflict. It's going to
- 4:10Speaker 1: end the conflict.
- 4:11Speaker 2: We've had half a century of conflict spread by this regime.
- 4:16Speaker 3: So Nata Nyahu, they're saying it's not going to escalate
- 4:19Speaker 3: the conflict, it would end it well. If Kimani isn't
- 4:22Speaker 3: already in hiding, he will be now. And so it's
- 4:26Speaker 3: only at this stage that the regime is on its
- 4:30Speaker 3: knees that Iran suddenly wants to engage in talks.
- 4:34Speaker 2: But it may just be too little, too late.
- 4:37Speaker 3: With Trump writing that Iran should have signed the deal
- 4:41Speaker 3: I told them to sign, he says, what a shame
- 4:44Speaker 3: and waste of human life. Simply stated Iran cannot have
- 4:49Speaker 3: a nuclear weapon. He says, he said it over and
- 4:52Speaker 3: over again, and he says everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran.
- 4:59Speaker 3: He also later decl declared that there would be no ceasefire.
- 5:03Speaker 3: He said that something big is coming. So we're waiting
- 5:06Speaker 3: to hear news of that. And Trump has been under
- 5:10Speaker 3: pressure from MAGA isolationists not to join Israel in the
- 5:14Speaker 3: war against Iran's nuclear program. Now, I mentioned last night
- 5:19Speaker 3: that these figures include Tucker Carlson.
- 5:23Speaker 5: I feel like I've been hearing that Iran is weeks
- 5:25Speaker 5: away from nuclear weapon for bid least twenty five years.
- 5:30Speaker 6: Well.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Trump today took back control of the American First notion
- 5:34Speaker 3: and he posted it on truth social that America first
- 5:37Speaker 3: means great many, a great many things, including the fact
- 5:41Speaker 3: that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. And he also
- 5:45Speaker 3: directly responded to Tucker Carlson in another post, saying, somebody
- 5:51Speaker 3: please explain to Kouki Tucker Carson that Iran cannot have
- 5:56Speaker 3: a nuclear weapon. Now, these posts from the President today
- 6:01Speaker 3: are crucial because figures like Carlson have been trying to
- 6:04Speaker 3: claim ownership of the America First agenda.
- 6:08Speaker 2: But America First does.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Not mean sitting back while our enemies develop nukes, and
- 6:13Speaker 3: it does not mean platforming Hitler apologists or whipping up
- 6:17Speaker 3: racism against Jews and Israelis. Well, this rift in the
- 6:22Speaker 3: Maga movement between the isolationists and the traditional conservative Republicans
- 6:28Speaker 3: will now deepen, and there's an anxious weight as well
- 6:32Speaker 3: as Trump decides whether to negotiate with Iran or unleash
- 6:36Speaker 3: the Mother of All bombs to destroy the nuclear sites
- 6:40Speaker 3: that are otherwise impenetrable. And what Trump decides matters more
- 6:46Speaker 3: than anything. America's bunkerbusters are desperately needed to obliterate Iran's
- 6:51Speaker 3: nuclear production. Yet even as Tehran indicates its desire now
- 6:57Speaker 3: to talk, there's no sign it would give us up
- 7:00Speaker 3: its long held goal for nuclear weapons, and Israel is
- 7:04Speaker 3: still expressing every intent to destroy then nuclear sites militarily.
- 7:10Speaker 3: And it's a point Israel's ambassador to the United States,
- 7:13Speaker 3: Yehiel later confirmed today.
- 7:16Speaker 7: We've always been ready to go to the negotiating table.
- 7:18Speaker 7: The problem is that the Iranians have been saying, let's
- 7:21Speaker 7: negotiate for fifteen years at the same time they're racing
- 7:23Speaker 7: towards a nuclear bomb. What really amazes me about the
- 7:26Speaker 7: G seven is that the only leader there who understands
- 7:30Speaker 7: history and understands where we should be going into the
- 7:33Speaker 7: future seem to see President Trump. The European leaders are
- 7:36Speaker 7: repeating the same mistake they made eighty years ago when
- 7:39Speaker 7: there was a little guy with a mustache running around
- 7:41Speaker 7: Europe saying he was going to annihilate the Jews and
- 7:45Speaker 7: was threatening the countries around him, was spreading chaos around Europe,
- 7:49Speaker 7: and the European leaders said, no, now, let's appease them.
- 7:53Speaker 1: It's going to be okay.
- 7:55Speaker 3: And the ambassador also said in that interview to expect
- 7:59Speaker 3: more astonishing surprises in the coming days.
- 8:04Speaker 7: Our commitment is to eliminate and we have some surprises
- 8:07Speaker 7: up our sleeves. There are still a lot of things
- 8:09Speaker 7: that we can do, and.
- 8:11Speaker 3: He said those surprises would be as great as the
- 8:14Speaker 3: Hesbela pager operation.
- 8:16Speaker 2: So we'll see.
- 8:18Speaker 3: And he made the same point that I did here
- 8:20Speaker 3: last night, that Israel's action now is to ensure a
- 8:23Speaker 3: future of peace, not more war. And this is a
- 8:27Speaker 3: vision that Nedinnja, who has been building towards for a
- 8:30Speaker 3: long time. But you can't reach peace without eliminating the
- 8:35Speaker 3: threats against you.
- 8:37Speaker 8: Now.
- 8:37Speaker 2: When I met with.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Nedinyahu in Jerusalem in October, was a privilege to have
- 8:42Speaker 3: that opportunity, and he spoke about his vision for the region.
- 8:46Speaker 2: I asked him about it, and.
- 8:48Speaker 3: He said it included removing the existential threat from Iran
- 8:52Speaker 3: and building stronger ties with the modern Arab nations. But
- 8:58Speaker 3: the Prime Minister said that I can and share with
- 9:01Speaker 3: you three things that he spoke about Netinyao, who spoke
- 9:05Speaker 3: strongly about the threat of Iran. He said the threat
- 9:08Speaker 3: of Iran is not only to Israel's survival, but to
- 9:12Speaker 3: the Middle East and to Western civilization.
- 9:16Speaker 2: He said that Israel.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Is fighting the broader war against terrorists who want to
- 9:21Speaker 3: take us all back to the dark ages, and with
- 9:25Speaker 3: the war raging, he spoke about the prospect of peace.
- 9:29Speaker 2: He still hopes.
- 9:30Speaker 3: He said that the deal to normalize relations with Saudi
- 9:34Speaker 3: Arabia will go ahead. I can tell you that the
- 9:38Speaker 3: criticism from Washington that Nettaya, who doesn't have a plan,
- 9:42Speaker 3: or that he doesn't know what he's doing in this war,
- 9:45Speaker 3: is utterly wrong. After speaking with him at length, he
- 9:49Speaker 3: does have a clear strategy for the war, and he
- 9:52Speaker 3: outlined it. It's obvious his motive is the survival of
- 9:57Speaker 3: the Jewish state, but he's also fi the terrorists and
- 10:01Speaker 3: Iran to protect the.
- 10:02Speaker 2: World from dark forces.
- 10:05Speaker 3: And it's why any day now we're expecting Israel to
- 10:09Speaker 3: take on Iran and not let the evil Aotolas live
- 10:14Speaker 3: out their dream to destroy Israel, and not just Israel, but.
- 10:19Speaker 2: All of us in the West.
- 10:23Speaker 3: So eight months on from my report in Israel, we
- 10:26Speaker 3: are now finally seeing Natanyahu's vision begin to come to fruition,
- 10:32Speaker 3: and the strategy is smart. Israel has all but destroyed
- 10:35Speaker 3: Iran's proxies and hamas and Hezbela, which leaves Tehran vulnerable.
- 10:41Speaker 3: It doesn't have its terrorist armies to launch missiles and
- 10:44Speaker 3: rockets across the border. And if Trump does have the
- 10:48Speaker 3: courage to join Israel. This could end the financing of
- 10:52Speaker 3: terrorism and create a safer, more secure, more prosperous Middle
- 10:57Speaker 3: East than at.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Any point in living memory.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Now.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Fox News host Mike Levine makes a similar point in
- 11:04Speaker 3: The New York Post today, Mark Levin, I should say
- 11:07Speaker 3: in his article about how isolationism is the same as appeasement,
- 11:11Speaker 3: it was a great article.
- 11:12Speaker 2: He says.
- 11:13Speaker 3: If all goes well, it will result in a transformed
- 11:16Speaker 3: Middle East, an expansion of the Abraham Accords, and a
- 11:19Speaker 3: world free of a nuclear terror regime. They Nedenyahu and
- 11:23Speaker 3: Trump are achieving what forty seven years of prior policies
- 11:28Speaker 3: have not.
- 11:29Speaker 2: This is a real peace plan, and.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeio is also lending his
- 11:36Speaker 3: voice to the argument that America needs to step in.
- 11:41Speaker 5: We should help Israel achieve its ultimate objective, whether that's
- 11:45Speaker 5: providing those specialized ammunition our munitions rather or a set
- 11:50Speaker 5: of other operations that the Israelis I am confident have
- 11:53Speaker 5: in their arsenal. We should facilitate the end of Fortat.
- 11:56Speaker 5: We should make sure it goes away.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Isn't it a that Pompeios no longer part of Trump's
- 12:02Speaker 3: in a circle. It's extraordinary to me as well. Another
- 12:05Speaker 3: point that we saw hundreds of thousands protests to free
- 12:08Speaker 3: Palestine Palestine, but where are the protesters to free Iran?
- 12:14Speaker 3: This shows that for the left in politics, in the media,
- 12:17Speaker 3: in the public, it's not about the lives of Palestinians
- 12:20Speaker 3: or Iranians. They don't care about that. It's only about
- 12:24Speaker 3: attacking Israel. And there's still very little gratitude toward Israel
- 12:29Speaker 3: for having the courage to take on this evil, tyrannical
- 12:33Speaker 3: Islamist regime where women are cruelly oppressed, there's no freedom
- 12:38Speaker 3: of speech and no human rights, but none of that
- 12:42Speaker 3: matters to the woke left. The only thing they care
- 12:45Speaker 3: about is delegitimizing Israel.
- 12:52Speaker 2: And we'll come back to Israel.
- 12:54Speaker 3: We've got Janni Bishan and Leah Mend's in Tellivision shortly,
- 12:58Speaker 3: plus Elon Levy later in the show. Now, let's bring
- 13:01Speaker 3: in our panel tonight, former Speaker of the House from
- 13:03Speaker 3: and Bishop and outgoing Liberal Senator Holly Hughes.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Welcome to you both.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Robin, do you agree that the United States at this
- 13:11Speaker 3: point needs to step in and help completely destroy photo
- 13:17Speaker 3: in particular the nuclear sites that Israel just doesn't have
- 13:21Speaker 3: the ability to do so militarily.
- 13:24Speaker 9: Well, I think Donald Trump's made it quite clear that
- 13:28Speaker 9: he will give support to Israel to see that it
- 13:31Speaker 9: is impossible for Iran to have an atomic bomb, and
- 13:36Speaker 9: I think the messaging he set out says that he
- 13:40Speaker 9: will do whatever he has to do to see that occur.
- 13:44Speaker 9: And I don't think he's in this time calling anyone's bluff.
- 13:48Speaker 2: I think he needs it.
- 13:50Speaker 9: And I think the fact that Australia has been so
- 13:54Speaker 9: pathetic in not supporting any of the actions that Israel
- 13:58Speaker 9: has taken and the initiative that Trump is taking has
- 14:03Speaker 9: resulted in Albanesi being snubbed.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Very, very publicly.
- 14:12Speaker 9: And I think I'm embarrassed to see prime minister of
- 14:17Speaker 9: my nation so humiliated because he was lacking encourage. And
- 14:24Speaker 9: when I see the words of Penny Wong and I
- 14:26Speaker 9: look at the relationship between China and Iran, I asked myself,
- 14:32Speaker 9: are we being influenced by the Chinese Communist parties policies
- 14:37Speaker 9: in what we are doing with regard to the Middle East?
- 14:40Speaker 9: And I think that's something it needs to be explored.
- 14:44Speaker 2: It's an interesting question.
- 14:45Speaker 3: I want to come back to Trump's snub of Albanize
- 14:48Speaker 3: in a minute, But Holly, I just want to stick
- 14:50Speaker 3: with the situation in the Middle East. I think it
- 14:57Speaker 3: is really worrying to see that the Republican movement has
- 15:00Speaker 3: been hijacked by maga isolationists who are racist, selfish and
- 15:07Speaker 3: have this narrow minded view of the world where clearly
- 15:10Speaker 3: they don't think America should be the leader of the
- 15:12Speaker 3: free world.
- 15:13Speaker 10: Well, we know when we sort of look at politics
- 15:15Speaker 10: and we see the left and the right, and if
- 15:16Speaker 10: you go far enough, they come back together again. And
- 15:19Speaker 10: if you look at what's happened with some of those
- 15:20Speaker 10: on the far left and their pro Palestinian stance, and
- 15:24Speaker 10: then some on the far right that have actually moved
- 15:26Speaker 10: to an anti Israel stance, you can see them sort
- 15:28Speaker 10: of conjoining together. And what I think is a really
- 15:31Speaker 10: scary group that should never sort of be left alone
- 15:34Speaker 10: and unsupervised. And now they're all singing from the same
- 15:36Speaker 10: song sheet. I mean, I think what Bibby's been doing
- 15:39Speaker 10: is just extraordinary. And the commentary that Israel needs the
- 15:45Speaker 10: US to come in, and I'm sure it would be
- 15:46Speaker 10: incredibly helpful and supportive, but I have incredible faith in
- 15:50Speaker 10: what Mossad and the Idea have coming next. I think
- 15:53Speaker 10: they're big surprises, tend to be quite spectacular, so he's
- 15:57Speaker 10: hoping there's a good one. But to your point about
- 16:01Speaker 10: Iran and the left and the absolute poor treatment human rights,
- 16:05Speaker 10: lack of particularly for women, the rights of LGBTI posted today,
- 16:13Speaker 10: support for the Iranian people or support for Iran. I
- 16:18Speaker 10: think we could buy a few of them, or one
- 16:19Speaker 10: way ticket over to Iran, because I think we know
- 16:22Speaker 10: how they'd be welcomed. It's the same when they got
- 16:24Speaker 10: to Palestine.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Sure, but if they support the Iranians, they should be
- 16:28Speaker 3: supporting Israel's.
- 16:29Speaker 2: These people don't understand.
- 16:31Speaker 10: They don't understand that would be a technical actually understanding
- 16:34Speaker 10: the oppression of the Iranian people by this regime as
- 16:37Speaker 10: opposed to supporting this regime. But as you say, they're
- 16:41Speaker 10: just anti USY.
- 16:42Speaker 3: All right, Well, let's return to the fact that Trump
- 16:45Speaker 3: canceled his meeting with alban Easy today. Now, of course,
- 16:48Speaker 3: on one hand, that's understandable. He had to rush back
- 16:50Speaker 3: to the Middle East. But he could have organized another
- 16:53Speaker 3: time to have the meeting. He could have quickly had it.
- 16:56Speaker 3: I mean, he did have time for other meetings with
- 16:58Speaker 3: other world leaders. The truth is that Alberanizi's left wing
- 17:01Speaker 3: ideology and offensive statements toward Israel and America, who he's
- 17:06Speaker 3: treated with disdain, while as Bronwin says, he's been closing
- 17:10Speaker 3: up to China.
- 17:11Speaker 2: This has cost him.
- 17:13Speaker 3: So it has put Australia, when it's put Alberizi in
- 17:16Speaker 3: an embarrassing situation, but it's making Australia increasingly irrelevant when
- 17:21Speaker 3: it comes to foreign policy discussions. And I think Dave
- 17:25Speaker 3: Shima made this point really well, and Chris Kenny earlier.
- 17:28Speaker 11: Have a look Pennywong and Anthony Alberanzi when it comes
- 17:31Speaker 11: to the Middle East, we've made ourselves irrelevant. You know,
- 17:35Speaker 11: the first person that Pennywong spoke to after this Israel
- 17:38Speaker 11: around conflict broke was the Iranian Foreign Minister, not the
- 17:41Speaker 11: Israeli Prime Minister, not other allies.
- 17:44Speaker 1: As far as i'm a w.
- 17:46Speaker 2: I think that really sums it up. Bromwin.
- 17:48Speaker 3: What Dave said, The first person, as far as we
- 17:50Speaker 3: all know that pennyone spoke to it was the Iranian
- 17:52Speaker 3: Foreign Minister.
- 17:53Speaker 2: What is going on?
- 17:54Speaker 9: Well, that just reinforces the point I made are we're
- 17:57Speaker 9: being influenced by the statements Wong and Albanesi are making,
- 18:02Speaker 9: because that is the Chinese Communist Party's attitude, and the
- 18:06Speaker 9: fact that he would go or rather she would go
- 18:09Speaker 9: and speak to the Iranian ambassador simply reinforces that point
- 18:14Speaker 9: to my mind. I mean, China buys its oil from Iran.
- 18:17Speaker 9: It is a close relationship. If you're a Chinese citizen,
- 18:22Speaker 9: you can go and stay for twenty one days in Iran.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Without a visa.
- 18:26Speaker 9: It's a very close relationship. And we've seen this government
- 18:32Speaker 9: of ours when we've had Chinese warships in our waters,
- 18:37Speaker 9: when we've had members of our own defense forces misadventured
- 18:42Speaker 9: or attacked.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Use whatever word you like.
- 18:45Speaker 9: There was not a word of criticism. So I am
- 18:49Speaker 9: very worried about the subversive way. Perhaps that's too strong
- 18:53Speaker 9: a word, but to me, there's something going on that
- 18:56Speaker 9: doesn't make sense.
- 18:57Speaker 2: I agree, I.
- 18:58Speaker 3: Completely agree, Holly, what do you think about this? I
- 19:01Speaker 3: agree with what Dave Sharma said that Albanisi and Pennywong
- 19:05Speaker 3: through their foreign policy positions on our allies, including the
- 19:09Speaker 3: derogatory way they often speak about Albani.
- 19:13Speaker 2: President Trump.
- 19:14Speaker 3: I mean, it's just meant that we're no longer given
- 19:18Speaker 3: a seat at the table.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Well, we're not relevant.
- 19:20Speaker 10: And I think what Albanezi and Wong and others' comments
- 19:23Speaker 10: Kevin Wright, our ambassador to the United States, also has
- 19:26Speaker 10: said about Donald Trump in the past, would probably not
- 19:29Speaker 10: make us the higher priority for them to become best
- 19:32Speaker 10: buds with. But I think what was interesting, and you know,
- 19:35Speaker 10: when you look at Prime Minister Karney, he hosted sort
- 19:39Speaker 10: of the tier two leaders about an hour hour and
- 19:41Speaker 10: a half away from where the G seven was being hosted,
- 19:45Speaker 10: and so there was sort of no crossover. There was
- 19:48Speaker 10: no top tier and second tier leader dinner together tonight,
- 19:52Speaker 10: so there was no opportunity for just a quiet chat
- 19:54Speaker 10: over dinner before Donald Trump left because Prime Minister Karney
- 19:57Speaker 10: kept in Seraph whereas Boris Johnson had previously Scott Morrison
- 20:01Speaker 10: had everyone together and had those organizations working more closely.
- 20:05Speaker 10: So you know, his Prime Minister Cannie really that kin
- 20:07Speaker 10: on having us at the table as well.
- 20:09Speaker 9: I just think there's another point that's important. There was
- 20:12Speaker 9: a great fanfare, what a wonderful job k rud had
- 20:15Speaker 9: done in organizing this meeting. We've got a time, It's
- 20:19Speaker 9: twenty minutes. This is the meeting time. What a fantastic
- 20:22Speaker 9: job he's done with his insights and his connections. He
- 20:25Speaker 9: actually went to Canada with the Prime Minister to hold
- 20:29Speaker 9: his hand, which I just find amazing in terms of
- 20:34Speaker 9: we have diplomatic relations in Canada, but there's k Rudd
- 20:38Speaker 9: note to hold his hand.
- 20:39Speaker 12: Now.
- 20:41Speaker 9: I have seen personally in the chamber of that relationship
- 20:45Speaker 9: between Kevin Rudd and Albanesi over the years, absolutely, And
- 20:49Speaker 9: I remember Albanesi hosting a dinner with a group of
- 20:55Speaker 9: friends in a restaurant I was attending when they were
- 20:58Speaker 9: planting the coup to get rid of or to put
- 21:01Speaker 9: Kevin Rudd back for the second time. Yeah, and so
- 21:05Speaker 9: it's a close relationship. And I think Albin easy depends
- 21:09Speaker 9: on Kevin Rodd. But Kevin Rodd clearly hasn't got the connection.
- 21:12Speaker 9: So one of the ramifications is there going to be
- 21:15Speaker 9: a change in the representation we have in Washington over
- 21:19Speaker 9: this or are we going to try and spin it away?
- 21:22Speaker 9: Nothing happened, nothing to see here, It's all.
- 21:27Speaker 2: It's Drowse fault again. Like everything else, it'll faults. Of course.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Of course.
- 21:33Speaker 3: The one limit of hope, though, was that it did
- 21:37Speaker 3: sound in a way like Trump was backing in awkurs.
- 21:40Speaker 2: So he was at least nodding his head, have.
- 21:42Speaker 13: A look, yep, we're proceeding with that. It's a really
- 21:46Speaker 13: important deal to both of this. I think the person
- 21:48Speaker 13: that was doing a review, we did a review when
- 21:50Speaker 13: we came into governments, So that makes good sense to me.
- 21:52Speaker 13: But it's a really important.
- 21:54Speaker 2: We're very long time partners and allies and friends, and
- 21:58Speaker 2: we've become friends in a short period. So he didn't
- 22:02Speaker 2: directly address aucus.
- 22:04Speaker 3: He didn't disagree with the sentiment, but I mean, look,
- 22:06Speaker 3: I already spoke about this last week, Colli. The president
- 22:10Speaker 3: is using orcus as a bargaining tool to get alb
- 22:13Speaker 3: and easy to lift his defense spent.
- 22:15Speaker 10: And you know, I've done a few other shows I
- 22:18Speaker 10: do Pete Stefanovic of Monday Morning and talking to Matt
- 22:21Speaker 10: Fisilwait and him using.
- 22:22Speaker 2: The dollar figure.
- 22:23Speaker 10: They keep talking about, oh, but we're spending dollars here,
- 22:25Speaker 10: we're spending dollars here because they cannot acknowledge it's a
- 22:28Speaker 10: percentage of GDP, and then everyone else absolutely missing the point.
- 22:32Speaker 10: They don't understand what the issue is, and yet they're
- 22:34Speaker 10: still trying to spin it of but we're spending ten
- 22:37Speaker 10: million dollars here, or we're spending fifty billion dollars.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Not spend not at all.
- 22:41Speaker 10: And then Richard Miles's you know, we need to know
- 22:43Speaker 10: what we're going to spend it on. If anyone doesn't
- 22:45Speaker 10: hasn't realized yet. Defense is really a finance portfolio. You're
- 22:48Speaker 10: not going down to the local costco to see what
- 22:50Speaker 10: bullets are on sale. As Defense Minister, it's actually working
- 22:54Speaker 10: with the brass to make sure that Australia has the
- 22:55Speaker 10: right strategic responses in place. And you know, these guys
- 22:59Speaker 10: clearly don't understand how it works, and we look.
- 23:01Speaker 3: So pathetic compared to a nation with courage and who
- 23:05Speaker 3: is well equipped like Israel. Absolutely right, Holly Hughes, Broman Bishop,
- 23:08Speaker 3: thank you both so much.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Leisure Thanks I Well, that's cross live to Israel now.
- 23:12Speaker 3: After another night of missiles, but they are fewer in number.
- 23:16Speaker 3: A supplies dwindle, with Israel destroying at least a third
- 23:21Speaker 3: of the missile launchers. There were fires, but thankfully no casualties.
- 23:25Speaker 3: Overnight now two journalists from The Australian went into the
- 23:29Speaker 3: war zone just as everyone else was trying to leave.
- 23:33Speaker 3: Leah Mendes and Janni Bishan join me now from Tel Aviv.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Welcome to you both, Yani. Usually Israelis feel relatively safe
- 23:41Speaker 3: under the Iron Dome and the other air defense systems,
- 23:44Speaker 3: but the onslaught of missiles and drones from Iran meant
- 23:47Speaker 3: that some slipped through. This was inevitable. There were fewer
- 23:51Speaker 3: though last night. Is there an indication from what you're
- 23:54Speaker 3: hearing that Iran is running out of arsenal?
- 24:00Speaker 5: Well?
- 24:00Speaker 12: I think that's certainly the hope the finner, that they
- 24:03Speaker 12: run out of their arsenal, the siner life in Israel
- 24:05Speaker 12: can go back to normal.
- 24:06Speaker 8: I mean, we've been here.
- 24:08Speaker 14: A few days.
- 24:08Speaker 12: If you take a stroll through the streets of Tel Aviv,
- 24:10Speaker 12: the place is empty. You drive around, there's no one here.
- 24:13Speaker 12: It's basically Covid esque. Once again, I think it's very
- 24:19Speaker 12: difficult to know whether the arsenal is actually being depleted,
- 24:21Speaker 12: because on the one hand, the Iranians are trumpeting every night,
- 24:23Speaker 12: but tonight it's going to be the really big one
- 24:26Speaker 12: that we've all been waiting for. And on the other hand,
- 24:27Speaker 12: we've got statements coming from the Israeli government saying the
- 24:30Speaker 12: defensive arrays have been annihilated, and they're taking out individual
- 24:34Speaker 12: launchers in Iran itself. So we're getting conflicting messages from
- 24:38Speaker 12: both sides. But what I can tell you is that
- 24:39Speaker 12: from us on the ground here, when the siren goes off,
- 24:42Speaker 12: when the alert comes through your phone, you're not thinking
- 24:44Speaker 12: about how many are coming through. You're just running to
- 24:45Speaker 12: the safe room and just hoping for the best.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, and I hope you are turning that.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Indeed, you both took some incredible footage of the ballistic
- 24:53Speaker 3: missiles coming in from Iran the night before last.
- 24:56Speaker 2: I understand it.
- 24:57Speaker 15: Let's have a look, oh, Liam, tell us what that
- 25:24Speaker 15: experience was like watching over forty incoming Iranian missiles.
- 25:31Speaker 14: It was quite not nerve it, but we felt it
- 25:34Speaker 14: be really important that our audience and your audience, you know,
- 25:38Speaker 14: see that footage and see what it's like for you know,
- 25:41Speaker 14: everyone living in Tel Aviv.
- 25:44Speaker 8: And right across Israel. This has been happening several times
- 25:51Speaker 8: since we've been here. With the air sirens went off
- 25:56Speaker 8: about three times yesterday, there was another one today, And
- 26:01Speaker 8: when we were driving up north towards Haifa and more
- 26:05Speaker 8: of these ballistic missiles were sent through, we saw some
- 26:11Speaker 8: of them get intercepted and then one hit an empty
- 26:14Speaker 8: bus today, so it's something that is constantly happening. But
- 26:21Speaker 8: we thought it was really important that our audience see this,
- 26:24Speaker 8: and it was certainly unnerving to see that. But yeah,
- 26:29Speaker 8: thankfully today nobody died. But in that footage there, I
- 26:36Speaker 8: think there were several casualties.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Yeah, there were that night, for sure, Johnnie. We know
- 26:41Speaker 3: that America is sending carriers and aircraft into the region.
- 26:45Speaker 3: How much does Israel need the United States to get
- 26:49Speaker 3: involved here to completely destroy sites like fod Oh?
- 26:55Speaker 12: Well, I think generally speaking, two hands are probably better
- 26:57Speaker 12: than one. But the Americans have very good reasons to
- 27:00Speaker 12: try and stay out of the conflict, and I think
- 27:02Speaker 12: it probably puts them in a better negotiating position if
- 27:04Speaker 12: they're not involved. But I think the Israeli perspective would
- 27:06Speaker 12: obviously be that having the Americans become involved would make
- 27:10Speaker 12: the job of degrading the Uranian capability to strike at
- 27:16Speaker 12: Israeli capital cities much easier task. So I'm sure what
- 27:22Speaker 12: the Israelis have been pushing is for the Americans to
- 27:24Speaker 12: enter the arena, But we know that the Americans have
- 27:27Speaker 12: drawn a red line against doing that unless they come
- 27:30Speaker 12: under attack themselves, and we haven't quite.
- 27:32Speaker 14: Seen that yet.
- 27:34Speaker 3: Yeah, we're waiting to hear the outcome of the emergency
- 27:38Speaker 3: meeting that chump cord Liam. You also visited the site
- 27:40Speaker 3: of bat Yam, where as we just spoke about entire
- 27:43Speaker 3: residential buildings where heat and civilians were killed. Being on
- 27:47Speaker 3: the ground there when you're in this lockdown like environment
- 27:50Speaker 3: that Jonni mentioned, what.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Was it like.
- 27:55Speaker 8: It's really interesting. There's been a huge change to that
- 28:00Speaker 8: the entire country since I was here back in October
- 28:05Speaker 8: and then also in June last year, it was a
- 28:09Speaker 8: lot more busier, a lot more bustling. You know, people
- 28:12Speaker 8: were still going out to cafes and restaurants at the moment.
- 28:15Speaker 8: Cafes restaurants all closed. At bat Yam, it was you know,
- 28:19Speaker 8: it was quite soln you know, there was there was
- 28:22Speaker 8: also a lot of emotion from family members there. But
- 28:27Speaker 8: you know, the residents that are still there, they're saying
- 28:32Speaker 8: that they're rebuilding, They're not going to leave. None of
- 28:34Speaker 8: this is going to change their way of life. Incredibly resilient,
- 28:41Speaker 8: all right.
- 28:42Speaker 3: Joanie Brashan and Lea Mendes, please stay safe. I know
- 28:45Speaker 3: you two love an adventure. And look, you're so courageous
- 28:49Speaker 3: for going over there in the middle of the world.
- 28:51Speaker 3: And you've both spent a lot of time in Israel,
- 28:53Speaker 3: particularly you Yanni since October seven. But stay safe and
- 28:56Speaker 3: we'll speak to you soon. That's still to come. We'll
- 28:59Speaker 3: speak to Iranians about their reaction to Israel's war. Also
- 29:03Speaker 3: Elon Levy coming up later. Plus the government sounds accused
- 29:07Speaker 3: of using super funds as it's piggybank. We'll talk about
- 29:11Speaker 3: that with Cameron Milner and Andrew Caswell next, welcome back. Well,
- 29:19Speaker 3: there's a brilliant editorial today in the finn Review about
- 29:22Speaker 3: Labour super tax.
- 29:23Speaker 2: And I meanline it's headline says it all.
- 29:26Speaker 3: It's super funds, not a piggy bank for Labour's pet projects.
- 29:30Speaker 3: It spells out exactly the concerns we've been speaking about
- 29:33Speaker 3: with regards to this legislation. And it's a point reiterated
- 29:37Speaker 3: by former ACTU Secretary Bill Kelty, who on the weekend
- 29:41Speaker 3: told The Australian that he thinks unrealized capital gains is
- 29:45Speaker 3: a bad policy. He says it seems a strange thing
- 29:49Speaker 3: to do. Bad policy is bad policy, whether it's for
- 29:52Speaker 3: the rich or the poor. Let's bring in now tonight's
- 29:56Speaker 3: political panel form a chief of staff for Bill Shorten,
- 29:58Speaker 3: Cameron Milner, former Press Secretary Andrew Carswell, welcome to you
- 30:03Speaker 3: vote Cameron. You're obviously on the Labour side of politics
- 30:07Speaker 3: when you have legendary figures like Bill Kelty coming out
- 30:10Speaker 3: about Labour's legislation to tax unrealized capital gans gains. I
- 30:15Speaker 3: mean this tells you just how bad the policy is.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Well, it does.
- 30:21Speaker 16: And Bill Keurley is the father of supernuation along with
- 30:24Speaker 16: Paul Keating in Australia, and so when Bill Kenny, Bill
- 30:27Speaker 16: Kelly speaks, people should listen, people should listen.
- 30:30Speaker 1: I think Jim.
- 30:30Speaker 16: Chalmers is in there as a treasurer trying to raise
- 30:32Speaker 16: money for the endless spinning that the Albanize government's involved in.
- 30:35Speaker 16: But this even looks like a bad idea now, I
- 30:37Speaker 16: think Bill Kellty's right.
- 30:38Speaker 1: This looks like bad policy after bad policy.
- 30:41Speaker 16: And really we shouldn't be doing that to the superhnoation
- 30:44Speaker 16: system because it's.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Not the government's money. It's our money. It's our money.
- 30:48Speaker 16: It's wages forgone that've gone to super to hold down inflation,
- 30:51Speaker 16: to holdown.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Wages going over the top.
- 30:54Speaker 16: That's savings for Australians. It's not the piggybank of a
- 30:57Speaker 16: labor government.
- 30:59Speaker 2: It's a very.
- 31:00Speaker 3: Principle of it, Andrew, that a government could tax money
- 31:04Speaker 3: that people don't even have in their pocket.
- 31:06Speaker 2: Yet.
- 31:09Speaker 17: Yeah, it's certainly a strange movement. And look, there's no
- 31:11Speaker 17: one on the necessarily on the labour side of politics
- 31:14Speaker 17: that's having a look at the start of this policy,
- 31:16Speaker 17: which is the extra tax on earnings above three million
- 31:23Speaker 17: dollars in super But they are having a little negle
- 31:25Speaker 17: at this extra element of taxing underalized gain. So it's
- 31:29Speaker 17: very clear that they're overregged it by the very people
- 31:31Speaker 17: on their own side. And it's not just that the
- 31:34Speaker 17: piggy bankers mentioned before. I mean when governments are giving
- 31:38Speaker 17: out financial advice on where to invest, generally run in
- 31:41Speaker 17: the other direction. It's not for governments to tell superannuation
- 31:44Speaker 17: firms where they need to invest their money. Governments are
- 31:47Speaker 17: terrible at investing tax payer money, so why should we
- 31:50Speaker 17: believe them that they'll be beneficial tax for super anuits.
- 31:55Speaker 2: Yeah, you know exactly.
- 31:56Speaker 3: I want to turn and ask you both about how
- 31:59Speaker 3: the President of the United States counseled the meeting with
- 32:01Speaker 3: alban Easy at the G seven today. Now you know
- 32:05Speaker 3: one of the things that Trump was going to put
- 32:07Speaker 3: on the table was defense spending. It still kind of
- 32:12Speaker 3: flaws me, Cameron that the alban Ezy government is paying
- 32:15Speaker 3: twenty percent of students hextat, yet won't increase our defense
- 32:20Speaker 3: spending from less than two percent that it is now
- 32:24Speaker 3: just under two percent, while you've got Europe committing to
- 32:26Speaker 3: five percent.
- 32:29Speaker 16: That's right, and look, we have to spend an awful
- 32:31Speaker 16: lot more on defense because we're in a very uncertain
- 32:34Speaker 16: time and you only have to look to Israel to
- 32:37Speaker 16: look for we need to defend yourself against.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Some of the really hostile people. Israel's done the right thing.
- 32:41Speaker 16: They've actually got self defense, They've actually invested in military
- 32:44Speaker 16: capacity for their own self defense. Australias is relying on
- 32:47Speaker 16: the US to come in.
- 32:48Speaker 1: That's not good enough.
- 32:49Speaker 16: I mean we need to add an NDIS scheme a
- 32:51Speaker 16: year to our defense budget. We need to add another
- 32:53Speaker 16: fifty billion dollars a year to even come up to
- 32:56Speaker 16: the three percent margin Shari, which is still well below
- 32:59Speaker 16: as you say, the Europeans, so that we're so far
- 33:01Speaker 16: behind and we're expecting others to do the heavy lifting
- 33:04Speaker 16: rather than a wealthy nation like ourselves actually s being
- 33:07Speaker 16: enough to defend ourselves and actually have the armaments to
- 33:10Speaker 16: self defend.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Indeed, Andrew, what do you think it says about how
- 33:15Speaker 3: the Trump administration and the President views Australia at the
- 33:19Speaker 3: moment that alban Easy and Rudd can spend months working
- 33:23Speaker 3: on trying to pull off a meeting and then it's
- 33:25Speaker 3: just canceled, you know, without a second thought at the
- 33:28Speaker 3: last minute.
- 33:30Speaker 17: Well we're at the back of the queue, aren't we.
- 33:33Speaker 17: And it's not just the major partners that are getting
- 33:36Speaker 17: meetings with Trump. It's Norway, it's Syria, it's Jordan, it's Argentina,
- 33:40Speaker 17: it's Ireland. They all have had face to face meetings.
- 33:44Speaker 17: We've had eight months since Trump was elected, and yet
- 33:47Speaker 17: we still don't have a face to face money. So
- 33:49Speaker 17: it's not only embarrassing, but it reflects poorly on our diplomacy.
- 33:54Speaker 18: But it already was a little embarrassing anyway.
- 33:57Speaker 17: I mean, the Albanezy meeting was the last meeting scheduled
- 34:00Speaker 17: for Trump at the G seven, the last meeting on
- 34:03Speaker 17: the last day the Engines of Air Force one would
- 34:06Speaker 17: have been warming as the two leaders met. I mean,
- 34:09Speaker 17: the cleaners would have been packing up the chairs in
- 34:11Speaker 17: the auditorium.
- 34:12Speaker 18: With the last have off the rank.
- 34:14Speaker 17: So that goes to show how they view us at
- 34:16Speaker 17: the moment. And is it any wonder from their perspective
- 34:19Speaker 17: when we continually push back on the demands of a
- 34:22Speaker 17: partner and an ally that he's trying to do the
- 34:24Speaker 17: right thing.
- 34:25Speaker 18: In the world.
- 34:26Speaker 3: Exactly Camera, Milt, as usual, you wrote an excellent column
- 34:29Speaker 3: in The Nightly and you make the point how out
- 34:32Speaker 3: of step Albanisi and Foreign Minister Pennywong.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Are with the values of our allies.
- 34:39Speaker 3: How confused they are and just completely at odds.
- 34:43Speaker 2: And this is part of the problem, isn't it.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Absolutely?
- 34:48Speaker 16: I mean, our foreign policy under Wong has lurched the left.
- 34:51Speaker 16: Albanie acquiesces when it comes to Israel, acquiesce is when
- 34:54Speaker 16: it comes to Islamic.
- 34:56Speaker 1: Extremism in Australia.
- 34:57Speaker 16: But the worst thing, the worst thing, Shahi, is the
- 34:59Speaker 16: eighty semitism on Albo's watch.
- 35:01Speaker 1: It is appalling.
- 35:02Speaker 16: It's the worst I've seen in my lifetime, Shahi, and
- 35:05Speaker 16: on Albow's watch, and he's done nothing about it.
- 35:07Speaker 1: And yet we have Israel under attack from Iran.
- 35:09Speaker 16: The US they're protecting, you know, the Israelis on the
- 35:13Speaker 16: ground as well, and our prime ministers they are allowing
- 35:15Speaker 16: synagogues to burn, cars, to b firebombed restaurants, to be graffeitied.
- 35:21Speaker 16: I mean, on Albo's watch, the Jewish community Australia is
- 35:24Speaker 16: so much less safe than it used to be. And
- 35:26Speaker 16: that's what President Trump and the rest of the world
- 35:29Speaker 16: sees Australia doing under Albo's watch, is that Jewish Australians
- 35:32Speaker 16: are under more threat and any Semitism is boiling over
- 35:35Speaker 16: in this country.
- 35:36Speaker 3: No, it is indeed an issue I care a lot about,
- 35:39Speaker 3: as you know.
- 35:41Speaker 2: But Andrew, we all do, we all do, thank you.
- 35:44Speaker 3: I mean, I basically wouldn't have anyone on this program
- 35:47Speaker 3: who didn't care about anti Semitism, because that's not caring
- 35:51Speaker 3: about racism. But Andrew, I think the failure too, and
- 35:55Speaker 3: it's not just this one meeting with President Trump, but
- 35:58Speaker 3: it's to have any sort of working relationship with the
- 36:01Speaker 3: United States at a political level. You know, our officials
- 36:05Speaker 3: in the national security space, in the intelligence spaces, that's
- 36:08Speaker 3: all fine, but at a political level, we don't even
- 36:11Speaker 3: have a basic dialogue with the United States, and ultimately, Andrew,
- 36:15Speaker 3: this does come down to Penny Wong as foreign minister,
- 36:17Speaker 3: doesn't it, because it's her foreign policy positions that are
- 36:21Speaker 3: now so completely at odds with where America stands.
- 36:27Speaker 17: Well, there's just been no rapport built with the Trump administration.
- 36:30Speaker 17: There's been no attempt to do that in a genuine way.
- 36:34Speaker 17: It's a very much a business like approach to what
- 36:37Speaker 17: should be a friendship and an alliance. And that goes
- 36:40Speaker 17: for Pennywong, that goes for Anthony Albanisi, but it also
- 36:42Speaker 17: goes for Kevin rud as well.
- 36:44Speaker 1: I mean, this is a.
- 36:45Speaker 17: US an ambassador to the US that can't even get
- 36:48Speaker 17: in the West Wing, let.
- 36:49Speaker 1: Alone the Oval Office.
- 36:50Speaker 17: So there's a fundamental breakdown in the diplomacy there. And
- 36:53Speaker 17: it's the approach that this government has taken that has
- 36:57Speaker 17: severed the ties almost in the relationship that previous prominences
- 37:01Speaker 17: had built steadily, not just with Republican presidents but Democratic
- 37:06Speaker 17: presidents as well.
- 37:07Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 37:08Speaker 3: Look, I don't think you can say you're a good
- 37:10Speaker 3: foreign minister or Prime minister if you're destroying the relationship
- 37:13Speaker 3: with our most important partner. In the United States. All right,
- 37:17Speaker 3: Cameron Andrew, thank you both so much for your time.
- 37:20Speaker 3: Now still to come, we'll get the latest from Israel
- 37:23Speaker 3: as Trump holds his situation room meeting. Elon Levy will
- 37:26Speaker 3: be on later. But first, how Iranians feel about Israel's war.
- 37:31Speaker 2: That's next. Welcome back.
- 37:36Speaker 3: Well, it's not spoken about enough, but Iran has a
- 37:39Speaker 3: brutal tyrannical dictatorship where Sharia law is strictly adhere to
- 37:44Speaker 3: the morality. Police arrest and even kill women who refuse
- 37:48Speaker 3: to wear the veil. There were protests led by women
- 37:53Speaker 3: across Iran when sixteen year old Masha Jinna Amani died
- 37:57Speaker 3: while in police custody. The police even used a lethal
- 38:01Speaker 3: force against the protesters. Some were arrested, others later faced
- 38:06Speaker 3: the death penalty simply for standing up for human rights.
- 38:11Speaker 3: This is why many Iranians welcome Israel's intervention at the moment.
- 38:15Speaker 3: And joining me now are the founders of the Australian
- 38:17Speaker 3: Iranian Patriots Association. Minu Tusi, great to see you, and
- 38:22Speaker 3: Mani Tagisode wonderful to see you as well. Now I
- 38:27Speaker 3: want to start with you know what life is like
- 38:31Speaker 3: at the moment, Minu and whether you think from the
- 38:35Speaker 3: family and friends that you have in Iran, how they're
- 38:39Speaker 3: receiving Israel's war on the military and nuclear and military leadership.
- 38:44Speaker 3: At the moment, are Iranians welcoming this move?
- 38:50Speaker 19: I would say yes, because the majority of people actually
- 38:56Speaker 19: is suffering from dear supresse regime for forty seven years,
- 39:02Speaker 19: and this time is a time when Israel actually taking
- 39:06Speaker 19: Iran was actually caused by the Islamic Republic regime of Iran.
- 39:12Speaker 19: So of course people in Iran loves Jewish people in Israel,
- 39:16Speaker 19: and we actually sudden that this war, unwanted war happened
- 39:21Speaker 19: by the Islamic Republic regime of Iran. This is not
- 39:25Speaker 19: actually war between the people of Iran and Israel. This
- 39:30Speaker 19: is war that caused and made by the Zlamik Republican regime.
- 39:35Speaker 19: So people in Iran at the moment, they I would say,
- 39:41Speaker 19: they accepted this war because that's maybe the only hope
- 39:47Speaker 19: they can get rid of this brutal regime. So of
- 39:51Speaker 19: course there should be.
- 39:53Speaker 2: A fear behind that.
- 39:55Speaker 19: But what I'm seeing during these days, people are actually
- 40:00Speaker 19: chanted at night and they tried to come in the
- 40:04Speaker 19: street and demonstrated against this regime.
- 40:06Speaker 3: You're saying that at night, they're chanting and demonstrating against
- 40:10Speaker 3: this regime at the moment.
- 40:11Speaker 2: Yes, and that's.
- 40:13Speaker 3: Obviously taking a big risk in doing so, because they
- 40:16Speaker 3: could be severely punished for that.
- 40:18Speaker 2: Yes, money, let's bring you in. Now.
- 40:21Speaker 3: What do you hope will be the outcome of Israel's
- 40:23Speaker 3: war here?
- 40:25Speaker 6: Actually, I wanted to say to your audiences and the
- 40:30Speaker 6: war that this is not our war. This is not
- 40:32Speaker 6: the war between Iranian people and the State of Israel.
- 40:36Speaker 6: This is the war it's happened because of the behavior
- 40:39Speaker 6: by Islamic regime seeking for nuclear and weaponry and using
- 40:44Speaker 6: against the Jews, against Israel and get it all the
- 40:47Speaker 6: street from the map. This is not just a slogan.
- 40:50Speaker 6: They have done it. They have supported hamas in two
- 40:55Speaker 6: years ago, in the seventh October massacre by Theahamas terrorists.
- 40:59Speaker 6: You know, it's not like you know, it's like a claim.
- 41:03Speaker 6: They have done it and now they have to pay
- 41:06Speaker 6: for it. You know, the run in people they knew
- 41:11Speaker 6: about that. The Israel government than the Jewish people. They
- 41:15Speaker 6: are not their enemy. The enemy is inside, the enemy
- 41:20Speaker 6: of the Islamic regime who killed more than more than
- 41:23Speaker 6: eight hundred, you know, saint boys and gays on these
- 41:26Speaker 6: streets two years ago when the Massaamini movement started, you know,
- 41:30Speaker 6: and it was not just once. Five years ago they
- 41:33Speaker 6: killed another protessor on the streets because of the you know,
- 41:38Speaker 6: they raised up the price of the field, the petrol.
- 41:42Speaker 6: It's they are tourists and many times we announce on
- 41:46Speaker 6: the streets of the Australia the other parts of the world,
- 41:50Speaker 6: do not make appeacement with this regime, you know, do
- 41:54Speaker 6: not you know, make a diplomatic you know, negotiation with
- 41:59Speaker 6: that because they are occupied our country. Yeah, no, Iran
- 42:04Speaker 6: is similar like occupied country.
- 42:06Speaker 2: You know, so well said so well, said Minu.
- 42:09Speaker 3: We've seen Israel and the United States call on Iranians
- 42:13Speaker 3: to rise up. Do you want there to be regime change?
- 42:18Speaker 19: One hundred percent sure yes, because during this forty seven
- 42:23Speaker 19: years after revolution, I would say this is wrong PubL
- 42:28Speaker 19: regime occupied the country and how stage the people. So
- 42:32Speaker 19: now it's the time, it's actually the only golden time
- 42:36Speaker 19: they can raise up. They was and they want to
- 42:38Speaker 19: one hundred percent definitely regime change. They don't want any
- 42:42Speaker 19: reform to this existing regime. They just want to regime change.
- 42:47Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, menu MANI thank you both so much
- 42:50Speaker 3: for your time.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Really appreciate it.
- 42:51Speaker 19: Thank you so much, Thank you so much for having us.
- 42:53Speaker 2: No, it's wonderful to have you all.
- 42:55Speaker 3: Right, after the break, we'll cross live to Israel after
- 42:57Speaker 3: another night of strikes, and former Israeli governments spokesman Elon
- 43:01Speaker 3: Levy is there.
- 43:02Speaker 2: He joined me next.
- 43:07Speaker 3: All right, let's bring in now farm Israeli government spokesman
- 43:10Speaker 3: Elon Levy, Elon, great to see you again. Look, the
- 43:14Speaker 3: biggest question we're all waiting to the whole world's waiting
- 43:17Speaker 3: to hear, is whether President Trump has come to a
- 43:20Speaker 3: decision in the situation room.
- 43:23Speaker 2: How much does.
- 43:24Speaker 3: Israel need America's assistance at this point?
- 43:29Speaker 20: Well Oedroel is not banking on the United States getting
- 43:32Speaker 20: drawn into this war. Israel went alone against the Iranian regime,
- 43:36Speaker 20: knowing that with our backs against the wall, we're the
- 43:39Speaker 20: ones who are going to save the Middle East from
- 43:41Speaker 20: a nuclear Iran.
- 43:42Speaker 18: And Israel has plans to do that. But you know what, I.
- 43:45Speaker 20: Think President Trump likes a winner, and he's noticed that
- 43:49Speaker 20: Israel is winning. It controls the skies of Iran, it's
- 43:53Speaker 20: intercepting Iranian ballistic missiles in Iran overnight. It killed the
- 43:58Speaker 20: head of the Iranian military. It was only in the
- 44:00Speaker 20: job for four days because his predecessor was killed on Friday,
- 44:04Speaker 20: and Trump will now be considering whether to deliver the
- 44:07Speaker 20: death blow to the Iranian nuclear program. There is a
- 44:11Speaker 20: nuclear facility buried deep under a mountain four dough. It's
- 44:16Speaker 20: buried there because it is a nuclear weapons program. Iran
- 44:20Speaker 20: wants to keep its nuclear weapons program safe. And of
- 44:23Speaker 20: course Israel is not publicizing to the world what its
- 44:26Speaker 20: abilities are to deliver the final blow against the Iranian
- 44:31Speaker 20: nuclear program. But conventional wisdom is that can only be
- 44:35Speaker 20: done from the air using an American B two bomber.
- 44:38Speaker 20: And I'm sure that's one of the things President Trump
- 44:41Speaker 20: will be considering now whether, with Israel so completely winning
- 44:45Speaker 20: this war against Iran, the United States wants to deliver
- 44:49Speaker 20: the death blow to its nuclear program.
- 44:51Speaker 3: I mean, the military success has been astonishing, and the
- 44:56Speaker 3: fact that there were undercover more sad operatives opera in Iran, the.
- 45:01Speaker 2: Quality of the intelligence.
- 45:03Speaker 3: Once again, Israel has shown up the rest of the
- 45:06Speaker 3: world when it comes to these sort of sophisticated operations
- 45:10Speaker 3: hasn't it.
- 45:12Speaker 20: Well, Look since nineteen sixty seven and the Six Day War,
- 45:15Speaker 20: there has never been a better example of David versus
- 45:19Speaker 20: Goliath in the Middle East. His tiny little Israel taking
- 45:22Speaker 20: on a regime that controls the country eighty times its size.
- 45:26Speaker 20: And the way that Israel does that is by using ingenuity, creativity,
- 45:31Speaker 20: the element of surprise. This is not the war that
- 45:34Speaker 20: the Iranian regime was planning to fight. The Iranian regime
- 45:38Speaker 20: surrounded Israel with a ring of fire, a network of
- 45:42Speaker 20: proxy armies, hoping that it could rain ballistic missiles on
- 45:46Speaker 20: Israel to protect its illegal nuclear weapons program. And now
- 45:50Speaker 20: the Iranian regime is completely exposed because Israel caught them
- 45:54Speaker 20: by surprise. And here we are with Israeli planes controlling
- 45:57Speaker 20: the skies of Tehran.
- 46:00Speaker 3: We've had some Iranian activists on the program. They are
- 46:03Speaker 3: hoping that this will lead to regime change. I mean
- 46:07Speaker 3: when Adnya, who was interviewed by Brett Bay yesterday, he
- 46:11Speaker 3: said that is not the explicit goal, but it could
- 46:15Speaker 3: be the outcome of their operations.
- 46:17Speaker 2: It's up to Iranians whether they rise up. Do you
- 46:20Speaker 2: think this is likely to play out.
- 46:23Speaker 3: That Iranian civilians could seize this opportunity and take that
- 46:28Speaker 3: control of their country.
- 46:30Speaker 20: Look, the Iranian regime's unofficial slogan is death to Israel.
- 46:34Speaker 20: Israel's unofficial slogan is the people of Israel live Between that,
- 46:38Speaker 20: there's very little room for compromise. The reason we have
- 46:41Speaker 20: a conflict with Iran is the Iranian regime doesn't want
- 46:45Speaker 20: Israel to.
- 46:45Speaker 18: Exist, and Israel wants to exist.
- 46:48Speaker 20: And Israelis are nostalgic for the days that there were
- 46:51Speaker 20: flights between Tel Aviv and Tehran and they weren't drones.
- 46:54Speaker 20: So obviously, if the Iranian regime goes and they establish
- 46:58Speaker 20: a democracy in dead, that's the source of the Middle
- 47:02Speaker 20: East conflict gone, and we can have peace between Israel
- 47:06Speaker 20: and Iran. Now you're right, the Prime Minister is saying
- 47:09Speaker 20: regime change is not the explicit goal of this war.
- 47:12Speaker 20: This is about eliminating the existential threat of an Iranian
- 47:16Speaker 20: nuclear bomb and Iranian ballistic missiles.
- 47:19Speaker 18: But stranger things have happened.
- 47:21Speaker 20: No one predicted the fall of the Soviet Union, no
- 47:24Speaker 20: one predicted the fall of the Assad regime. And if
- 47:27Speaker 20: the Iranian regime falls, if the leaders choose to flee
- 47:31Speaker 20: because they understand their time is up and Iran can
- 47:34Speaker 20: form a peace loving democracy. That would be an outstanding
- 47:39Speaker 20: side effect of this operation.
- 47:41Speaker 18: The same the world from Iranian nuclear bombs.
- 47:43Speaker 2: We've got less than a minute left in Ilin.
- 47:45Speaker 3: I just want to ask you about the hypocrisy of
- 47:47Speaker 3: Iran targeting Israeli civilians and we haven't heard a word
- 47:51Speaker 3: of condemnation from the international community.
- 47:55Speaker 20: You know, the G seven just issued a very important
- 47:59Speaker 20: statement saying it stands with Israel and Israel's security, so
- 48:02Speaker 20: we know world leaders are with us. But I have
- 48:05Speaker 20: to say a word to all the activists have spend
- 48:07Speaker 20: the last year talking about humanitarian law and proportionality and distinction,
- 48:12Speaker 20: don't care when Israeli civilians are under fire and have
- 48:15Speaker 20: to run to bomb shelters and dozens of Israelis are
- 48:18Speaker 20: killed in ballistic missiles. And it's clear that all their
- 48:21Speaker 20: language of international law and human rights was just to
- 48:24Speaker 20: dress up their hatred of Israel and Jews.
- 48:27Speaker 18: They don't really get to humanity. Their anti humanity.
- 48:30Speaker 2: So true and so disappointing.
- 48:33Speaker 3: ELIN really love having you in the show as always,
- 48:35Speaker 3: Thank you so much for your time, and that's all
- 48:37Speaker 3: we've got time for today. I see you tomorrow at
- 48:39Speaker 3: eight o'clock, and right now, the man of the hour,
- 48:41Speaker 3: we'll marry
