- 0:00Happy Star Wars day everyone oh [ __ ] straight into it welcome to multiple
- 0:06nerdgasm with your hosts Matt Luke and
- 0:11Dan multiple nerdgasm your guide to All
- 0:16Things nerdy well okay it's a couple days away
- 0:23but it will be by the time this comes out is that what you're saying well it's
- 0:25not Star Wars day now and it won't be Star Wars day when the people hear this
- 0:29so I but don't really know what Lou's getting at here it could be Star Wars
- 0:34Day by the time we finish recording this oh he's in a time zone where that might be true
- 0:40you're in a time zone yeah yeah cuz here it's not Star
- 0:45Wars day
- 0:49for math 18 hours or so it's an hour and
- 0:5354 minutes here so it'd be a very long podcast if we were still going then yeah
- 1:00after party in the uh Star Wars day yeah but did you see Disney got in a bit
- 1:06of uh trouble for Disney how they trying to celebrate it so Disney came out and
- 1:11went hey tell us like your best Star Wars story or memory and all this use
- 1:17this hash made of fourth and then they came out with this tweet legal tweet
- 1:22after it going basically anything you reply to with this hash we now own and
- 1:28everyone got a little bit crazy about it well on the one hand I think if you're
- 1:34posting something on Twitter I mean it's kind of fair game anyway isn't it like
- 1:39well I think that's what it is they more social L people know hey if you use this
- 1:43we might use it in our promotions yeah we'll take a screenshot of it and put it
- 1:46up somewhere cuz you posted it publicly so I think you can do that right yeah
- 1:51mean it's not like they're going to steal the copyright on your [ __ ]
- 1:54memory are they it's not like going to be like oh I remember watching Star Wars
- 1:58with my dad and then they're going to be like not that was us Disney we watched
- 2:02Star Wars with our dad if you say otherwise we will sue
- 2:07every time you remember it you owe us $1 that's the future but that's I think
- 2:12it's because I got a bit upset about the wording of it but yeah all I was saying
- 2:15is like look if you reply to us with this we might use it can you own a
- 2:20hashtag is that what this implies what I doubt it right well that was I think
- 2:25that was some of the blow up as well people were going well you can't even
- 2:28own a hashtag that you didn't create eight yeah well not only that I mean
- 2:32they don't own Twitter yet so yet because I could have I could have just
- 2:37been writing something on my own Twitter with the hash May the 4th because that's
- 2:41just the [ __ ] date that it is yeah and what Disney owns me
- 2:47now well didn't cuz may the fourth didn't start off as a Disney or even a
- 2:52Star Wars sing it started off by F actually it started off as an actual just
- 2:57calendar I was trying to be smart and I just I ruined it I ruined it back in the
- 3:02olden days it was just a day but yeah I think it just started off I don't even
- 3:06think like Luca's art or Lucas film even embraced it for a couple of years until
- 3:11it really took off yeah but here we are I'm going to celebrate it tomorrow at
- 3:16work bye by I was going to talk in a Star Wars accent what is a Star Wars
- 3:21accent go on there there isn't one oh we pick one going to walk actually I'll
- 3:28stop you there uh I think any accent that is a Star Wars accent is not your
- 3:33accent cuz are there any true no wait a minute there are some Australians in the
- 3:38prequels yeah yes there are surely we should alert the
- 3:42Chan cut that guy out yeah wow see I think it started in what was it in the
- 3:49original movies if you were the B Imperial you were British yeah yeah
- 3:53except for obiwan good guys were American Obi-Wan and also Darth Vader was
- 3:58American so I think kind of was that like a original trilogy thing or was
- 4:03that just something Vin kerser did in Empire or was that I guess was it just
- 4:09accidental I think that's more I think it's just more accidental that's just
- 4:12where they were filming and so you get local actors in probably true yeah and
- 4:17then they went yeah that was intentional yep I that annoys me when people do that
- 4:21like it's just something that's just happened because and then people try and
- 4:24twist it into this statement or something no not like George Lucas to
- 4:28make up that's movie it's not like a painting where you just
- 4:33paint whatever you want and don't paint whatever you don't want making a movie
- 4:37you kind of have to roll with the punches a little bit yeah totally what
- 4:41was it in your in your course you're doing when they're talking about what
- 4:44was it the Candy Man how like meant to be crawls in the
- 4:49mouth and crawls out the ass yeah yeah yeah you see the director on set being
- 4:54like and then he crawls out the ass I wonder if Jordan Peele is Jordan peele's
- 5:01not doing it right no it's a different guy he's producing it the Remake wonder
- 5:05if it's going to have have the old yeah any old unea look let's hope
- 5:12so Jordan peele's doing something else
- 5:15new that interest County yeah yeah with
- 5:20JJ who also interests me but I must say I don't know if it looks any good I
- 5:27didn't watch the trailer yet yeah I saw there was a trailer I have not watched
- 5:31it yet watch it and then report back to me all right I will that's your homework
- 5:37for this week it's pretty pretty easy homework all right good good did did I
- 5:42have homework uh the episode's not over yet we could we could work some homework
- 5:46out for you I did some homework for last week oh yeah oh you did uh yeah Matt
- 5:51after you watched the three uh man with no name films oh yeah I decided I was
- 5:57going to catch up as well cuz it's been years Poss since I've seen them and I've
- 6:03decied to watch them in reverse order that's one does yeah so yesterday
- 6:08I watched The Good the Bad and the Ugly mhm great movie don't remember it being
- 6:143 hours long it's it's very slow it's very it's very long a lot of that is
- 6:20just people walking through the desert could have been could have been trimmed
- 6:23down a bit Yeah I think yeah for sure I could have could have done with a bit of
- 6:26an edit uh but still very good and really killer scenes in there yep uh
- 6:33yeah so for a few dos more next and hopefully by next week I would have seen all
- 6:39three Okay cool so you haven't watched for a few dollars more yet no not yet
- 6:43cuz that's the one we we talked about you know I quite enjoyed that a lot this
- 6:48time uh so I'm just curious to see it's
- 6:51the one I remember the least about okay I watched another movie this week that
- 6:58uh that I'd like to talk about if you guys will permit
- 7:02me I'll I'll allow it this time thank
- 7:06you uh this film is called the man who
- 7:10killed Hitler and then Bigfoot okay I'm
- 7:16aware so you finally saw it I've had this in my library for quite some
- 7:22time and just haven't you've you've got to be in the right frame of mind for a
- 7:27movie like this yeah right you You' got to really really want to be able to
- 7:33accept a movie called the man who killed Hitler and then Bigfoot you know you
- 7:37you've got to want that schlocky horror
- 7:42comedy um so I waited until I was it's not like a date night film oh I've got
- 7:48be for to watch but then also it's not like a I've got an hour just throw
- 7:52something on for starters there is no way I could convince ha to watch this
- 7:57movie exactly but also when do I watch it you know I've got to be in the right
- 8:01frame of mind and so I was just I was in the perfect frame of mind for something
- 8:05Dopey the other night quite late and I popped this on only to find out this is
- 8:12not a comedy oh it's not this is a very
- 8:18serious movie about somebody who has PTSD from killing
- 8:24Hitler and um oh and uh and is called
- 8:28upon to to kill Bigfoot and is all like yeah well that's all I am to you a
- 8:33[ __ ] killer aren't I thanks America like it's why he kill bigfoot
- 8:39because because the government want him to come out of retirement he's taking
- 8:44over the Nazi party we got to stop him so this uh this film stars Sam Elliott
- 8:49and if you don't know the name um you'd know his face voice and mustache he he's
- 8:55Australian isn't he he's always plays an old cowboy he's said in the big leowski
- 9:00right he in the big leowski yeah yeah um I think he actually won an Oscar for
- 9:06best supporting role in uh A Star is Born last year oh um as the guy who
- 9:12punches uh Lady Gaga I haven't seen that would be a very
- 9:18different movie put it this way so the the killing
- 9:24of Hitler is is told in flashbacks right when he was a much younger man
- 9:30but the movie proper is set when he's old and retired and thinking back on his
- 9:35career anding that he didn't take a life even the life of somebody who really
- 9:40[ __ ] deserved it right shut and then the Govern he killed someone else as
- 9:46well the government come and and tell him that he that they want him to go and
- 9:51hunt down Bigfoot and so he does begrudgingly and as you do but you know
- 9:56but like he's he says goodbye to we family he knows he's not coming back he
- 10:00says goodbye to his brother he's rehomes his dog like it's so [ __ ] serious man
- 10:06and then he's so conflicted with like he knows he has to kill this thing when
- 10:11when he finally kills Bigfoot you guys don't mind spoilers right when he
- 10:16finally kills Bigfoot right he's crying there are tears rolling down this old
- 10:21man's cheeks and he's shooting it and and through the tears saying I didn't
- 10:26want it to be this way like this is not the comedy I had in mind the other
- 10:33night that's sounds so weird I thoroughly recommend it did he have a
- 10:39fist fight with Bigfoot I don't know why I just I just
- 10:43SE him wrestling it yeah no he wrestles it he wrestles it for sure for sure he
- 10:47wrestles it oh God what sorry did we did I get clarification on why the
- 10:53government needs Bigfoot murder assassinated okay look they they gloss
- 10:58over that pretty Qui but basically Bigfoot is up in Canada and is spreading
- 11:04a virus okay and and they say that if the virus isn't contained it's going to
- 11:10infect the whole of Canada and then America Next and this is why people you
- 11:15need to use protection even when having sex with Bigfoot mhm don't trust him to say he's
- 11:21clean you know what they say about big
- 11:26feet infected yeah that's right all right so thumbs up on that I guess uh
- 11:31yeah i' I'd say so look I mean for all of its trying to be serious it it
- 11:37certainly verges on cheesy from time to time but I think that the goodness
- 11:42outweighs the Badness and uh yeah I think put this on your list actually
- 11:46watched a television show this week that I think just came out in Amazon Prime
- 11:51upload have you heard of this one I feel like I've heard of it so it's about it's
- 11:57sort of set in the future where when you can sort of live forever so when people
- 12:01are dying instead of dying and going away they Bas transfer their
- 12:05Consciousness into a computer okay y I couldn't work out what the show was trying to
- 12:12be it was sometimes it would go down sort to goofy having fun path and other times it
- 12:19was quite serious and I just get the feeling they maybe changed Direction
- 12:24after they started filming I don't know why crying while you're killing Bigfoot
- 12:28serious no oh yes it's all about sort of Corporations and making money and all
- 12:33this stuff but I recommend it I watched the entire season in 2 days so okay how
- 12:38many how many episodes just 10 episodes okay upload yeah that sounds interesting
- 12:44that's a thing I uh I'm interested in yeah it's all about how like like yeah
- 12:49people so you got to be rich to have everything and then there like there
- 12:52people who go in who sort of get like two gig of data a
- 12:56month okay that does sound cool sounds like something Sam Harris would
- 13:01watch I don't know if he watches TV he sounds like it sounds like
- 13:07something Sam Harris would watch would read an academic paper on he didn't like
- 13:11Tiger King and I listened to him discussing why he didn't like Tiger King
- 13:15and I was like pretty good points what uh which episode does he discuss that on
- 13:22uh it's one of the you know he's doing like a weekly and a weekly it's um one
- 13:26of the one of the you know kind of casual chat ones where they're talking
- 13:29about Target King and just about how
- 13:31like it's just basically about the story is really just about these people who
- 13:38are [ __ ] addicted to meth and will do anything for drugs but they gloss over
- 13:43all of that and the abuse of the Tigers and kind of make it about this kind of
- 13:48all all this other weird [ __ ] and he said just found him he found it really
- 13:52disturbing I agree with that but that's the appeal yeah well I was one of the
- 13:56people that really wasn't that too impress with it I watched it and I think
- 14:01a lot of people now I think they just got caught up in it and I think it was
- 14:04just that perfect storm of everyone sort of being having to be locked in the
- 14:07house yeah I'm not sure impressed is the right word to describe my reaction to
- 14:12it Joe Exotic really impressed me I mean I loved it don't get me wrong and once I
- 14:18started I had to finish it but uh yeah I don't know I don't know how impressed I
- 14:23was necessarily I love I love that Luke and Sam Harris are on the same page about this and
- 14:29I would love to hear them talk about it I 100% would and I'd like Ben Affleck to
- 14:35get in there as well all right let's invite them on next week's podcast I
- 14:39want him to violently disagree with Sam on this
- 14:44mhm you think Ben's a fan of Tiger King no I just think he's not a fan of uh Sam
- 14:51Harris yeah I watched a movie yesterday
- 14:55because out of nowhere as I mean I think out of nowhere I'm not quite sure what
- 14:59triggered this Jenna says to me can we watch k19 the
- 15:06Widowmaker and okay I was
- 15:10like yep all right okay I mean it's got Harrison Ford in it I'm assuming that's
- 15:16why yeah and not just that she loves submarine
- 15:21movies actually I think maybe she does you've got hunt for it October next uh
- 15:26we've already watched that not not super recently but recently enough that I was
- 15:30like is this a thing but uh we watched K9 the
- 15:35Widowmaker which interestingly is not
- 15:39available in this country easily huh really
- 15:45interesting and I I I mean not that I'm conspiracy minded but I wondered if that
- 15:50was something to do with the fact that it's I mean on a Russian sub well it's
- 15:55it's just all Russian right it's yeah so
- 15:59I don't know interesting it could also just be the fact it's a like a
- 16:0420-year-old movie and they weren't getting a lot of views so they decid not
- 16:08to license it maybe it is 18 years old now I actually I was like 2002 that's
- 16:14pretty re no it's not though yeah Mar it is directed by Catherine Bigalow who is
- 16:19like the like Queen of Americana mhm oh
- 16:25it's a very good movie I really enjoyed it didn't really enjoy the um the range
- 16:29of Russian accents in it I found Harrison Fords in particular to be a
- 16:33little lacking but that's fine well in that you've just watched also The Hunt
- 16:37for Red October I think they had a fantastic device to get around nobody
- 16:41doing Russian accents Sean connory they zoom in on Conor's mouth while he's
- 16:46speaking Russian and then oh sure yeah slowly morphs to English they zoom out
- 16:52of his mouth and now all the Russians just speak English in whatever accent
- 16:56they have yeah genius I guess I need uh submarine movie recommendations no this
- 17:02movie was good though I don't know that I'd seen this before I knew of it but I
- 17:06don't know that I'd seen it but it was interesting based on a true story about
- 17:11a Russian nuclear submarine that was out on a test basically just to show America
- 17:16that they had one and the the reactor [ __ ] up and and about how a bunch of
- 17:22crew members died and then them trying to survive pretty interesting and uh I
- 17:27definitely do not ever want to be in a submarine I don't
- 17:31think no I I can't imagine I'd ever be like [ __ ] it I'll go on a sub although
- 17:37these movies always remind me of a scenario that I would want to be in
- 17:41which is space and because it battar
- 17:45Galactica is was very like this but in
- 17:50space where like you couldn't you're stuck inside the ship you can't even see
- 17:55outside you've got when you look at the Sens of material I think you would be
- 17:58trying to make it sort of like a confined spaces cuz you're just wasting
- 18:02room with you have the power and exactly give air to so yeah I mean I'm pretty
- 18:08sure the ISS is smaller than your average sub right like you'd be [ __ ]
- 18:12crazy it is a lot smaller than you you would think yeah and like for all its
- 18:18size the bit you can actually go in is a small percentage of the hole Yeah man
- 18:24every time I see a photo of somebody flirting around in that you know they've
- 18:26got that observation room up on the ISS and they've always got photos of someone
- 18:30floating around just looking down at Earth I'm like [ __ ] man that would be
- 18:35sot just day trips just to that you know
- 18:39God that would be crazy and then I imagine like like I imagine seaf fairing
- 18:45back in the day being somewhat like space exploration I mean it's not but
- 18:50but just the adventure of It kind of thing and then I imagine is there going
- 18:55to be a day where people are just like I'm just going to pop up to Mars like
- 18:59the way that we would say I'm going to you know we're we're going to go to
- 19:02Europe it's exciting but it's just like we're going to go to Europe I think it
- 19:05will happen but and I think it will happen in our lifetime but we won't be able to do
- 19:09it cuz you didn't the forms cuz we didn't feel in the forms I don't think
- 19:13our bodies would be able to do it yeah the ISS has a pressurized volume of
- 19:1932,000 cubic feet same as Boe 747 oh wow
- 19:24that's that's not big no so you really want to get along with everyone who's
- 19:30there yes there's not that many people up there at any given time just on your
- 19:35point Matt though I I often think about that about kind of the Age of
- 19:39Exploration you know the exploration of the oceans essentially being akin to
- 19:44space travel not only that if if you got on board early then Not only would
- 19:51countries look very different to your country yes but people would look
- 19:55different to the people you've seen yeah well that's one of my one of my favorite
- 20:01movies when I was a kid uh but I haven't seen it in a long time or miniseries I
- 20:04guess is Shogun which is about the yeah Dutch I think it's dutch Captain who
- 20:08gets Shipwrecked wakes up in Japan MH and it's just perfect Fish Out of Water
- 20:13kind of thing cuz you can't imagine two completely two disperate cultures like
- 20:18yeah like he has no idea what the [ __ ] is going on no and he doesn't understand
- 20:22why they're doing any of the stuff they're doing including why he's in
- 20:26prison Y and like they walking down the street someone says something [ __ ]
- 20:30dude cuts his head off and everyone on the Street's like well he shouldn't have
- 20:33mouthed off and he's just like what the [ __ ] yeah or when he um when he hangs
- 20:38that duck up to get smoked and uh and a guy cuts it down cuz it's smells but
- 20:45then kills himself because he's Dishonored and he's like the actual [ __ ]
- 20:51has just gone on yeah what happened that's a great movie actually I don't
- 20:58know that it is now that it's been a while and I'm probably going to find I
- 21:02bet it's problematic I bet it is think it's probably problematic too yeah yeah
- 21:08um speaking of problematic though I don't specifically remember Harrison
- 21:11Ford's Russian accent but his not usually one similar to his American
- 21:17accent exactly that's the thing I the only accent I can actually recall him
- 21:22doing is the Scottish accent in that one scene in the Last
- 21:27Crusade sure yeah no it's not uh well Liam niss
- 21:33doesn't really bother in it either Liam niss but he doesn't do his
- 21:38own accent either Liam n's screen accent is basically just trying not to sound
- 21:43Irish yeah yeah it's it's a good movie I
- 21:48uh I found yeah fascinating it's just weird that it's not available anywhere
- 21:54and it's probably yeah you're probably right Luke it's probably just no one
- 21:57bothered with it yeah like it might have been on something at some point and then
- 22:02they get rid of it yeah even when they do get a license they don't get it
- 22:06forever no I mean sorry let me clarify you can't even buy it like I was like
- 22:12maybe it's cheap on iTunes or something it's not on iTunes and if you if you
- 22:17Google it and you find the iTunes link it it comes up and says this is not
- 22:21available in the US store and then I checked Google checked Amazon cuz I was
- 22:26like wait a minute what the [ __ ] I but you can't buy it either I mean still
- 22:32could be nothing Italy or yeah well
- 22:36Tortuga Tortuga I'm never going remember I'm never going to remember how to say
- 22:40that T it's just cariban Italy for me
- 22:46yeah you don't want to go to Italy man [ __ ] I do want to go to Italy so do
- 22:52I wrong it is great but you don't want to go now I watched an episode of and
- 22:57then now come on don't laugh h house hunt is
- 23:02international and I said don't laugh that sounds fine so long as it doesn't
- 23:07have Property Brothers in it Drew and Jonathan are fantastic yeah
- 23:14and yeah there uh house unders International is basically Americans
- 23:18moving overseas and being unreasonably astounded by quite simple and obvious
- 23:24things in other countries um and uh generally getting upset that apartments
- 23:31in these major cities in European countries aren't as big as their [ __ ]
- 23:35houses in Ral America um his kitchen's a bit small
- 23:41yeah it's cuz it's an apartment in the middle of [ __ ] London Sweden mhm so
- 23:47yeah not your Mana house in in corn country it's a good show but anyway yeah
- 23:53this a woman moved to Italy to this little village and I was just like [ __ ]
- 23:57man that's beautiful beautiful it is I don't think I'd ever
- 24:01want to live in a small village though really I feel like I would oh yeah
- 24:06actually just just depends how good is the internet if the internet
- 24:11iside you you don't leave your house what where are you going that a village
- 24:15doesn't have what you need well I just worried that a small village won't have
- 24:20very good internet there well it's got the internet I'm
- 24:25happy all right man did you see the when we went to Strasburg and all those
- 24:30little medieval French Villages I [ __ ] I would live there in a second did you see
- 24:34my photos of that [ __ ] oh yeah that that area is crazy good yeah I went to a
- 24:40little village just outside of Strasburg called ratson Reed which is uh I mean
- 24:44[ __ ] it looks like it looks like something out of an Eden bighton novel
- 24:48yeah it looks like it's a theme park except it's not it's a village and
- 24:51people live there yeah yeah well I've actually worked out I'm actually going
- 24:55to have to start being careful I need to start going outside more especially when
- 24:58I move okay because I don't like going outside now but when I'm moving to the I
- 25:04could go straight into the garage remote open so there's no reason for me to be
- 25:08outside for more than 5
- 25:14minutes what are you what are you avoiding outside for well I just I don't
- 25:19go outside so like that's what living in this nice Italy small village would just
- 25:25be wasted on me oh that's probably true yeah so who ows your lawn well in the
- 25:29new house I don't have a lawn okay who mows your lawn now I do okay good that
- 25:35that's the extent of me going side I actually did that today oh cool my M
- 25:40it's too wet go on yes I'm pasting something into the into the WhatsApp
- 25:45okay yeah um WhatsApp okay this just this just came this just came on my on
- 25:51my screen right now oh proof postive wi it off for proof positive that my
- 25:57[ __ ] phone list to me because there
- 26:00is absolutely no reason for me to be
- 26:06getting pictures of literal pictures of Shogun that we literally just talked
- 26:11about that we have never [ __ ] spoken about before that is very odd or is
- 26:17it um did you say Shogun Dan or actually listening to the audio
- 26:23of us all you're right I didn't say it yeah I don't think you did you did
- 26:29describe the scene with the goose yeah [ __ ]
- 26:34me that's pretty weird eh they conspire me all they like
- 26:38as long as they make my life
- 26:42easier very good MH MH I got some good
- 26:46news for you Luke yeah they are Cy cyber
- 26:51Punk will not be sensored in Australia I know I saw that uh story today and I'm
- 26:58I'm a little shocked but I'm very happy about it yeah it's pretty weird right
- 27:02normally they're uh they make them remove that kind of [ __ ] the drug use
- 27:07and uh drug use in particular right it's not and drug use um the the sex scenes
- 27:13are going to be a big thing as well sexualized violence I guess yeah what
- 27:18does that mean and not only that oh sorry all right it says drug use and
- 27:24sexualized violence the former will appear in abundance I thought it was
- 27:27going to say there [ __ ] tons of sexualized viol the ladder will blow
- 27:32your [ __ ] mind what what is sexualized violence my assumption is
- 27:37it's rape yeah that's what I was thinking too that or yeah something like
- 27:41that and if it is that I'm really amazed that's making it in yeah to Australia
- 27:45cuz that's still normally where they really draw the line these days that's
- 27:49what got fantasmagoria band back in the
- 27:51day was that even um scene in it St tro
- 27:57oh yeah there had to be in train version cuz there was a dildo gun that would you
- 28:02would shove into Park the game was censored because of rape yeah yes yep
- 28:08Australia says no to games with rape so I just so now I'm happy cuz it's
- 28:15not even like in the old days where you could get an import of a game where you
- 28:20just like import from another country and still be able to play it because now
- 28:23because everything's online you'd import it but it'll just get the an update and
- 28:28an update to whatever country you're in yeah well they're saying that the the
- 28:34player is not going to be involved in any of that which is good uh it's just
- 28:38that there might be that kind of thing happening in the game just in the
- 28:42background they're like [ __ ] it I'm putting a gratuitous rape into the
- 28:45background of this shot nothing to do with the story cuz they're making with this game
- 28:51it's all going to be first person yeah so even the cut scenes you will see from
- 28:55how you your character sees it includes the sex scenes oh
- 29:03God and evidently they also got motion capture of the sex scenes really
- 29:10interesting I read there was an article this week about how geralt is never
- 29:14naked in The Witcher just because the
- 29:19ratings boards are very very particular about you playing as a naked character
- 29:25apparently in Germany in particular like if you want a [ __ ] death sentence for
- 29:29a video game have the player control a naked person and Germany's like n like
- 29:34wow wonder why right and then even um NPCs it's fine cuz you don't control
- 29:41them they can be naked but if you're walking around naked not allowed what if
- 29:46you're controlling an NPC well that's not an NPC is it no but I mean not not
- 29:52that you're playing as them right but
- 29:56tell yeah no I'm I'm thinking of like Conan
- 30:01where where you can you can find you can come across naked NPCs that you can hog
- 30:07tie and kidnap and then Force into
- 30:10slavery how does Germany feel about that I'll ask I don't know yeah next
- 30:17next time I'm there I'll ask them yeah how do you feel about hog tying naked
- 30:21people and forcing them into slavery H are you the naked
- 30:26person well yeah I'm amazed that Australia is like yeah I guess let's just not worry
- 30:33about banning all the games now yeah so that's good good I'm hoping to be back
- 30:38at some point soon and I'm hoping to play some gratuitous sexual violence I wonder if
- 30:44this game would be available in Singapore probably not unlikely no there's no way this
- 30:49would make it in Singapore I mean sexual violence sure fine maybe the drug use
- 30:55yeah that's it so strange that every country is so very different with what
- 30:59they think's okay and what's not cuz they get the ratings a lot of the games
- 31:02will come out with the same ratings but for different reasons yeah yeah I still
- 31:07can't decide what platform to buy this game on what do you mean oh PC or Xbox
- 31:12yeah cuz my PC is better than my Xbox right now and it's going to come out
- 31:15before the new Xbox and then I got to figure out is the the new Xbox There You
- 31:19Go is is there is there any reason you you need this on the Xbox not like we're
- 31:23going to be playing together no but then the the new Xbox is going to come out
- 31:28and then is it going to be better on that than on this PC maybe probably and
- 31:33the game will automatically update so you don't need to buy like the the new
- 31:37Xbox version of it you just buy it and you have it but I'm going to have to
- 31:40play it on the old Xbox for a period That's the only that's the only downside
- 31:45well you may not have to depending on when they actually released a new one
- 31:49yeah that's true cuz they're still saying that's coming out this year yeah
- 31:54same same kind of window I guess we shall see I mean this would be a this
- 31:59would be a great exclusive for them to have you know for you to have to buy the
- 32:04new console yeah if they could this as an exclusive they would be
- 32:09laughing it's too late I don't think C project wouldn't do that I don't think I
- 32:14don't think they'd have the money for it they'd have to offer something like
- 32:18ridiculous for it to get back I'm not sure they do it they they seem like a
- 32:23company that's would be against doing something like that oh I I think so as
- 32:28well cuz if you look they actually do use put their games out on good old
- 32:32games which are DRM DRM fre so you can buy it and then you can be a dick who
- 32:39just dist passes the game around yeah mhm yeah they're very strict ethics is
- 32:45not the right word you know what I mean they're just they they're good guys
- 32:50y they are I was I was going through my games library on Xbox and um I I wanted
- 32:56to continue playing a couple of games that i' abandoned you know now that I've
- 33:00got some time sometimes that that can be hard it it can be hard especially so I I
- 33:06put on Red Dead Redemption 2 this week oh yeah great game it's a beautiful game
- 33:12um but what I remembered quickly is that
- 33:15it's actually incredibly boring and um none of the characters are relatable or
- 33:22even likable so I turned it off again I
- 33:26because I watched you know the uh Sergio Leon films I was actually thinking oh I
- 33:32might play some Red Dead too because I was kind of you
- 33:35know yeah but I I never actually did cuz I was like I don't know that I enjoyed
- 33:41that that much so maybe I won't bother not the tone of this game is not
- 33:45actually like a Weston I I can't I'm bad
- 33:49at at describing why but I the previous
- 33:53game was much more atmospheric yeah I enjoyed the first one
- 33:58same I think with this one because it is so slow at the start and it's not until
- 34:02you get to the very end of the game and you've unlocked all the areas and you
- 34:06can fast travel and speeds up a bit that yeah that's right I don't think I can
- 34:10fast travel even yet no I can't you have when you have to ride a horse everywhere
- 34:17and you can be riding for a good 15 20 minutes before anything happens it can
- 34:21be a bit difficult just like real life yep back in the old days I couldn't
- 34:27remember what year that happened the actual the actual old west
- 34:32or when this game came out 1800s 1800 it 1800s and it wasn't for a very long time
- 34:38it wasn't like cowboys were out there for a hundred years it was actually yeah
- 34:44Amic was only like that for a short period of time oh yeah the actual Wild
- 34:47West was basically about 30 years so weird not only that there is only one
- 34:54documented case of a gun in the street where two guys faced off against each
- 35:00other and then pulled out their guns and shot at the same time
- 35:04one because the funny thing is that's more of an English thing that yeah
- 35:09Jewels rich people used to oh yeah um gun fights in the old west there were a
- 35:14lot of gun violence don't get me wrong but it was usually messy and sporadic
- 35:18the the very famous gunfight at the OK Corral um lasted about 30 seconds it
- 35:23wasn't at the OK Corral it was in a vacant lot between the OK carral and a
- 35:27photo studio and the um the furthest away of any of the two of the nine
- 35:32people that were shooting was
- 35:376t it was just a [ __ ] group of people standing in a circle just [ __ ]
- 35:41frantically shooting at each other like that uh scene in police squad where
- 35:46there behind the Cars it's exactly like that but it's
- 35:51sort of weird that people do have like these showdowns like one-on-one
- 35:55gunfights is be something that would have happened but the wild west wasn't like that
- 36:00that's that would be too civilized for the wild west you would just shoot
- 36:03someone if you going to shoot them oh yeah like if somebody said to me let's
- 36:07fight at dawn tomorrow I'll be like yeah sure I'm [ __ ] coming for you
- 36:10tonight yeah as soon as you turn you back I'm going to shoot you yeah not
- 36:15getting up that early going shoot you in the [ __ ] back dishonorable mate
- 36:19dishonorable the other game I criminals tempted to give another go at Luke Conan
- 36:26oh [ __ ] Conan was ancestors because it's such an
- 36:32interesting concept and we both played it for about the same amount of time
- 36:36Luke and uh I went back and played it for another hour or so hoping I'd
- 36:41progress a little further and I didn't and it's just it's really not that
- 36:48interesting and it's also you're not quite sure what you're doing cuz it
- 36:53doesn't hold your hand in this is what you need to do and play it is very much
- 36:58you decide you can do whatever you want but I don't have a goal so yeah you can
- 37:03do whatever you want but there's actually not much you can do cuz you're
- 37:06only a semi sentient animal and you're in a very a very small
- 37:13terrain cuz I've got it sitting I was even saw it today I was trying to decide
- 37:17what to play and it was sitting there in my install list and I'm no not even I
- 37:22told you not to buy it I know I told you not to buy it I tested it out I gave you
- 37:26the review don't bother and then you went out and brought it anyway it really
- 37:31interesting and it is interesting it sounds it sounds interesting as well
- 37:35it's just not you know what though I I think they went a little too retro with
- 37:40it it's like cuz it's set like 2 million years ago right where like the these
- 37:47early that is very retro yeah that is as about as retro as
- 37:52it can [ __ ] get no but like you're essentially a chimp they say that you're
- 37:57a human ancestor but just looking at this thing I'm like that's a chip you
- 38:00know like if I was a neanderthal or or something or even like a homo hyle
- 38:05bensis something that looked more human if I could fashion an axe yeah you know
- 38:11what I mean like I I probably feel a little bit more of a connection with
- 38:15maybe you got to evolve a little bit first I don't think it I don't think it
- 38:18goes that far yeah but you do have to be careful cuz you it all comes down to you
- 38:24also breeding as well cuz you have to unlock skills then you breed and then
- 38:29you pass on jeans and unlock
- 38:33breeding achievement breeding yeah I will get around to giving another try
- 38:40mhm well you let me know if you're if you're new try is as successful as mine
- 38:45you I started playing something again this week cuz I'm I I started playing
- 38:50the the first sorry not the first that that would be inaccurate the um XCOM
- 38:56Enemy Unknown be very clear about which game it is cuz
- 39:00the first one is the one from the 80s but yeah that's right and the reason for
- 39:04that is because the new that new XCOM game came out I forgotten the name of it
- 39:08already uh and there was a big sale on so I got that and I got XCOM 2 and I was
- 39:13like well I got to finish the first one I never finished it cuz I'm an idiot and
- 39:16I should I mean really I should just play two but you may not have to finish
- 39:21it cuz there's multiple endings to the first one oh really so you can get an
- 39:27ending and then play two which is not what your how your story finished which
- 39:33yeah all right fine and then has an intro that explains the plot anyway so
- 39:37maybe I should just start with two play what you want to play thanks man I'm
- 39:42actually going to I'm going to play something a bit like it I'm going to
- 39:46play the new gears game oh tactics gears
- 39:49tactics yeah it's pretty much XCOM so yeah right well the reason I wanted to
- 39:55play it was good timing cuz you know I discovered playing Divinity that I
- 39:59prefer turn-based combat and that's basically what these games are is
- 40:03turn-based combat so I did I did like those new Exon games a lot better than
- 40:08the originals yeah cuz the originals why they were great games sometimes you
- 40:14couldn't really progress very part cuz if you said all your guys out in the
- 40:17ship and then one guy went crazy in the middle of them started killing all your
- 40:20own guys you g was over man I I love that back in the day though like origal
- 40:26back in high school yeah yeah remember Dan we got invited to the the launch of
- 40:33this the new series of XCOM in Sydney that was [ __ ] great that's we got
- 40:37given copies yeah wait you were there as well Luke right I was the one who
- 40:42organized it it was a mulle nerdgasm event no no no I couldn't remember if
- 40:47all four of us went or not yeah it was all four of us I've the photos sorry
- 40:51didn't me let's put let's put that photo back up on our um social media if we if
- 40:56we can if it's I was just thinking cuz you were in camera that you wouldn't you
- 40:59didn't come but yeah no you're right you're in the photo so you must have
- 41:02been there or you photoshopped yourself in I don't know had a
- 41:06Photoshop L that's a pretty good cover story now that was [ __ ] great cuz
- 41:11they had us meet at they told us to go to some bar in the Sydney and then some
- 41:15bus came and took us to a secret location that's right that's [ __ ]
- 41:18awesome and I got very drunk and then they yeah gave us free drinks and we
- 41:23played XCOM that was a really good night yeah thanks to
- 41:28who the [ __ ] was a publisher for that 2K yeah thanks 2K that was [ __ ]
- 41:33awesome sorry Luke you did organize it yeah yeah I
- 41:39organized I got us tickets and then you you should forget I was even there no
- 41:44look all all I could remember for sure was that Dan and I went right so because
- 41:49we lived together and we literally exactly I'm like I can't get that wrong right
- 41:56so but then as soon as you said the photo I was like of course they were all
- 42:00in the [ __ ] photos so remember when uh because we we met up in like s Hills
- 42:05or somewhere like that first and we were we were drinking I think we were quite
- 42:10drunk by the time we well they told us to go to a bar what are we supposed to
- 42:13do yeah that's right they said me at a bar all right what am I going to do
- 42:16drink water but I remember four of us were sitting there and this woman came
- 42:20up and were like oh hey guys you what are you guys doing tonight and we're
- 42:23like oh we're going to this thing and like we were going to you know just have
- 42:26a good old chat with her Dave was like thank you goodbye and she's like and
- 42:30he's like goodbye and she's like okay and walks off and we're like what the
- 42:34[ __ ] dude he was like that was a prostitute we're like no it wasn't he's
- 42:40like yeah yeah she want
- 42:44money wink yeah he probably knew he seems very sure
- 42:50didn't just your usual
- 42:55Dave h anyway great games XCOM like them like them a lot looking forward to trying out
- 43:01the new one you mean the one that came out a couple of years ago no no the one
- 43:07yeah yeah the new one which is skipping consoles oh is it yeah why you care
- 43:13about it yep yeah right which sucks cuz I actually quite like those games and I
- 43:18was looking forward to playing it again that's right I've got my gears tactics I'll
- 43:22play we've got some um
- 43:25interesting uh I guess Co 19's uh you know it's going to be interesting to see
- 43:31how the world changes after all this quarantine and social isolation and
- 43:35whatnot we've got some interesting stuff going on in particular with the with the
- 43:38theaters the movie theaters cuz they're talking about starting to open some of
- 43:42these up again which is I don't know how smart that is but we'll see uh they're
- 43:49going to have to change the way they do business though for for for the
- 43:53foreseeable future which is going to be [ __ ] weird not going to be a to have
- 43:56you're not going to be a to have a a soldout theater no they're have to pull
- 43:59well they have to pull out seats I guess uh how's that how are they going to do
- 44:03this like I have no [ __ ] idea how to do all this cuz yeah what we've leared
- 44:09as everyone in the world has learned we can't be trusted with the honor System
- 44:12to do that people are [ __ ] stupid so while while it could just be like
- 44:17everyone can go if you're in a couple you can sit together but everyone has to
- 44:20have like a seat between them yeah well no it's got to be more than a seat right
- 44:24cuz they squished those [ __ ] seats in there it's going to have to be a few
- 44:26seats isn't it six two seats two seats well it depends which country you're in
- 44:32what uh what distance is it in a some countries it's a meters well well
- 44:36Australia does have the shortest one I think we're 1.5 M oh okay okay right
- 44:43whereas I know America's 2 M 6 feet they keep saying I don't I mean I don't even
- 44:48yeah 6 no one knows no one knows what a foot is I
- 44:51know the Florida have signs saying um you must stay at least one alligator length
- 44:58apart no I didn't know that actually that's funny yeah I've seen those yeah
- 45:03that's funny yeah cuz they were talking here about um they don't know they're
- 45:07thinking about starting to reopen things about you know next week May 9th I think
- 45:12was when they to and they were talking about the governor was saying you know
- 45:17if you're a business start thinking about how you're going to change your
- 45:21whole [ __ ] business to allow for the fact that people can't be near each
- 45:25other and I was likee Jesus like that's right if you may not be able to go back
- 45:31to normal in air quotes for yeah quite sometime like if you own a restaurant
- 45:38the [ __ ] does that mean for you yeah like it means you're basically you're
- 45:44going to be having to Harve the number of tables you have and you but not only
- 45:48that you've got to have people there with [ __ ] sticks keeping people away
- 45:51from each other like in you know in theory cuz how how much liability is a
- 45:56restaurant going to for these things do you guys have lines on the floor
- 45:59everywhere now where you have to stand yeah and the amount of people who don't
- 46:05pay attention to them drives me insane yeah I saw a dude wandering around the
- 46:10other day no masks no nothing just like
- 46:12whatever what the actual [ __ ] like the
- 46:17mask isn't for you mate yeah like it's for everybody else so don't be a [ __ ]
- 46:23withit and the way I I think best way to think about it this
- 46:27uh is don't think of it that you're worried about getting it think about try
- 46:31and act like you you have it and you don't want to give it to anyone else
- 46:34that's the best way to handle it there are people who think it's still not real
- 46:39which is baffling to me like why people think that everyone got together and
- 46:43it's a big conspiracy I don't know what people get from shutting down the
- 46:48country and destroying the economy I mean Jeff Bezos is [ __ ] laughing
- 46:53about this all I guess but you know cuz Amazon's presumably doing Gang Busters
- 46:58but M I've done so much [ __ ] online shopping since this thing started right
- 47:04well that's what one of the things they said was trying to support local
- 47:05businesses who are online but it's like I I can't find them like if I need I'm
- 47:11trying I've been trying to like if I need something I'm like I'll check see
- 47:14if you go online it's Amazon it's just
- 47:18all the big ones there's no like I found
- 47:21a local like hand wash company like down in Newport and I was like well I'll
- 47:27order some stuff from then them so I did but then some other stuff it's just like
- 47:30I don't know how do I don't know how to find you know I need uh what did I order
- 47:36like oh like I ordered uh chairs right so I got like where do I get chairs from
- 47:42locally they're all shut down there's no furniture stores open [ __ ] what kind
- 47:46of week has Matt had Luke when he he just I told you I was going to spend
- 47:53theh well hand wash chairs a chainsaw
- 47:58um that leaf blower that is I got the leaf blower by the way it's [ __ ]
- 48:03awesome oh yeah yeah is it fun it's it fun to strap that thing on yeah yeah
- 48:07strap it on my back [ __ ] blast the [ __ ] out of those and also you don't you
- 48:10don't have a super close neighbor so you're not going to be annoying them
- 48:13with it anyway so you're not going to have that guilty feeling yeah he's not
- 48:16close with them he [ __ ] hates them that reminds me the time Luke and I
- 48:22went to a $2 shop to buy props for uh for uh Christmas Massacre the short
- 48:29film we almost made yeah yeah listeners
- 48:33can see photos of well what might have been that on on our Facebook I I think
- 48:39it's still up on the Facebook let let's then once you back in Australia I'm
- 48:43going to come up to Sydney once a month and we're filming stuff mat you can come
- 48:48too [ __ ] you [ __ ] you guys I've got everything now Luke I have gone nuts in
- 48:54this quarantine I've I've decked my camera I've got microphones
- 49:00lights [ __ ] everything we're ready we can go moment
- 49:05notice but now we don't have the actors
- 49:09yeah that's you and me we need to find
- 49:12others mhm mhm I still say at some point in the future we do a two we trip to
- 49:19Matt's house and we film something in the woods let's do it let's do it I'm
- 49:25all for it we put in every idea we've ever had for a movie into this
- 49:32one yeah monsters aliens and slapstick
- 49:38comedy I pitched you on this years and years ago yeah that's right it's the
- 49:43film we were born to make so speak speaking of film and and the the
- 49:48theaters there's been some drama uh around the way that studios are
- 49:53releasing films now cuz they got to get these film in front of people but no
- 49:57one's going to the theater so I guess Universal out of all [ __ ] films that
- 50:03could start this kind of [ __ ] trolls World Tour is the is the problem film is
- 50:09that right yeah apparently whatever the f is yeah I don't think that was
- 50:15actually I think it's the future ones that are going to be the problem this is
- 50:18one that they just trolls world to they've already done yeah they released
- 50:22it on streaming Platforms in in lie of the cuz there aren't any theaters at the
- 50:28there AR any in other words a brand new film scheduled for theatrical release
- 50:34has gone straight to VOD and now what there Universal want to
- 50:39do cuz that actually works so well for them they want to start doing that more
- 50:42cuz that's what we ever been asking them to do for [ __ ] years just let us
- 50:46watch the [ __ ] movie at home I don't want to go hang out with a bunch of
- 50:48other weirdos yeah cuz I hate going to the movies cuz the people mhm I like
- 50:54going later on after the movie's been out for a little while when you
- 50:58basically get a cinema to yourself but also the sooner this is on VOD the
- 51:03sooner it'll be on the torrent sites the only reason to release movies
- 51:10in theaters first is just so that theaters don't go out of business it's
- 51:14stupid like I get it but also people don't want it anymore yeah that's the
- 51:20thing this is just supply and demand right if Market pressure is saying I
- 51:24don't want to have to go to a big building and sit in a [ __ ] cramped
- 51:28seat to watch this I'll give you the same amount of money just let me watch
- 51:31it at home I I get it I get you know if you're a massive Corporation that's
- 51:37suddenly like oh wait a minute we're [ __ ] no one wants us anymore and
- 51:41we're going to go out of business like I sure I bet that sucks but that's it's
- 51:44inevitable right this is this is the future but this isn't even the first
- 51:48time that Cinemas have been threatened Cinema I mean it's it's a [ __ ]
- 51:51miracle Cinemas are even still in existence now because Cinemas in the
- 51:55early days of film used to be owned by the studios and then they had laws come
- 52:00in that say no no that's a monopoly you can't produce a film and distribut a film
- 52:07so you know it was all up in the air then and all these other companies came
- 52:11in and then of course television came in and everyone was like [ __ ] I'll just
- 52:14watch [ __ ] at home or I'll wait one year and then home video you know well see I
- 52:20think this this is going to be interesting because in the past you know
- 52:24like the AMC and Regal theaters are now saying well we're not going to screen
- 52:29any Universal Pictures movies anymore if they see how long that last yeah I think
- 52:35in the past that might have been like oh gez all right that might be a problem
- 52:39I'm not sure that is going to matter to them at all mind you that said Universal
- 52:44aren't what they used to be well true true I mean there're still a major
- 52:51player but I I I think if uh Disney said we're going to go straight to VOD do you
- 52:57think the theaters would be like nah well [ __ ] you we're not screening any
- 53:00Disney movies anymore they are right pretty much well that's but like that's
- 53:05it like we're at the Tipping Point I think right yeah yeah exactly but it's
- 53:12Tipping Point is right it's either it's cuz it's all going to collapse either
- 53:15suddenly there are no Cinemas or there will be and there is no
- 53:20VOD for a year or whatever it is now yeah I saw an interesting article
- 53:26actually I don't know why I didn't put this in here about [ __ ] you know
- 53:30tenants coming out the new Christopher Nolan film and the article was basically
- 53:34saying that it's still coming out in July apparently and that's because
- 53:38Christopher Nolan is like no it's coming out in theaters in July for some reason
- 53:44well you know accent because he's like so old school because he's like I mean
- 53:48he still shoots on film he doesn't shoot on video and he will not allow a film he
- 53:53made to come out VOD but there's no theat is open what is he I mean I don't
- 53:59know it seems like no I think it's just people are still stuck in the past but
- 54:04they they just need to accept you have to move forward that's not the way
- 54:07things are anymore and I think movies he's just an artist I guess yeah yeah
- 54:11but also I think one of the stupid things that's still happening with
- 54:13movies is how much they still spend on Advertising well that I mean
- 54:19that's how you get it how you get people to watch it right you got a drama po
- 54:23this interest in it the marketing budget
- 54:26is more often than the yeah the actual budget of making the film but no I think
- 54:32it'll be good if we could sort of get a shift away from movies more to
- 54:36television and start bringing the cost of how much people make from them cuz I
- 54:41think it's right getting a bit insane with how much like stars make for a
- 54:46movie compared to how much stars make for a television show it is a bit silly
- 54:50isn't it because a television show which takes longer more people involved will
- 54:57get considerably less than a movie so I've never understood that but I think
- 55:01there the reason the reason I mean it's cuz it is cuz it has been kind of is
- 55:07part of it but also I mean having an
- 55:11actor in a film is marketing in a way
- 55:15like having Johnny Depp in your film we means well there's a group of people who
- 55:22will see this film now so that's guaranteed they they don't care what
- 55:25it's about it's just got him in it I'm going yeah so it's almost like Mark and
- 55:30it's almost like well I don't know if Johnny Depp's a good example these days
- 55:32but it's like a like a almost like a implied quality in a way it's weird like
- 55:37you're saying he may not be a good example these days it's weird how it's
- 55:41strange how quickly that can change that you go from having this person in the
- 55:45movie will get it marketed everyone's going to love it to the next thing they
- 55:48put out with no one will go say it because they're over him right well
- 55:53actually a good example these days right it might be you got a movie right and
- 55:57it's it's it's good script it could be a pretty good movie but then you get Chris
- 56:00Hemsworth in it and now it's a Chris Hemsworth movie so you've just gone
- 56:05[ __ ] up five levels cuz he's he's the draw like that [ __ ] Extraction movie
- 56:12he's in on Netflix the biggest premere on Netflix which grain of salt cuz you
- 56:16know quarantine and all that but still but yeah it's what what used to happen
- 56:20remember like it wasn't a Die Hard 2 movie just a script they had but then
- 56:24they went this movie went well we die hard on this get I think both of them
- 56:29both it wasn't Die Hard 2 it was Die Hard three Die Hard with a Vengeance
- 56:33three oh right I knew it was one of them that existing scpt and they were like
- 56:37what can what can we change the names on actually I want to watch that again
- 56:42that's a good movie Die Hard with vengeance just the Die Hard movies I hav
- 56:47seen the I've only seen the first three there is don't don't watch the stop at the
- 56:53third one in fact skip the second one if you if you
- 56:59want Oh speaking of Die Hard although
- 57:01not really Matt I just saw the episode of Always Sunny in Philadelphia where
- 57:08they recreate Lethal Weapon and I legitimately don't know a why they
- 57:14thought they could get away with it and B how they did get away with it I
- 57:20know so funny I mean l you'd love it
- 57:24it's just all blackface cuz they not not not just one person
- 57:29they alternate between who yeah who plays uh not M Denny glov character I've
- 57:36seen it oh you've seen that always you seen OD episodes of it right no Luke Googles
- 57:43blackace just he wants to see everything I've seen it it's in my it's in my
- 57:48collection he's seen Justin Trudeau he's seen Z pit and he's seen Always Sunny
- 57:54well keep watching Dan cuz
- 57:59Okay this is not the only episode where they a
- 58:05weapon they make a sequel excellent excellent I've seen that as well mhm
