- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: On Dr. Steve Turley, join me every day as we discover answers to today's toughest challenges and explore the re-bondalization of conservative civilization.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: This is Turley Talks.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: If you didn't think things could get worse for the ultra-woked WNBA,
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: Think again.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_01]: What's up?
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: What's up?
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: What's up?
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: What's up?
- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: What's up?
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: What's up?
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: What's up?
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: What's up?
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: What's up?
- 0:33[SPEAKER_01]: What's up?
- 0:33[SPEAKER_01]: What's up?
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: What's up?
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: What's up?
- 0:35[SPEAKER_01]: What's up?
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: This is newly released video of a WNBA start getting arrested after reportedly punching a security guard and a Miami nightclub.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: And what happens next is something you have to see to believe.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: Stick me the very end of this video because we're going to see exactly why the scene reveals a viral, woke culture that a vast majority of Americans are completely
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: lately fed up with, and why controversies piling up for the WNBA may end up ending the league once and for all.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: Hey gang, it's me, Dr. Steve, your Patre professor, you're going to help you make sense of the madness with breaking news and analysis.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: You're not going to get anywhere else.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: You know what to do, make sure to smack that bell and subscribe button.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: As many of you know, the WMBA has been in the news a lot of light, precisely because of the infestation of wokeness that pervades the league.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: And the problem with wokeness as we will see,
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: is that it assaults a little thing called reality.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: And what the WNBA is learning the hard way is that that woke assault on reality always ends up coming to a decisive reckoning with reality itself.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: And that assault just took on a new form in this video featuring the rest of Dallas Wingsguard Aureka Agun Boale.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: The incident reportedly occurred back in March outside of Miami nightclub, newly released body camera footage, shows just how quickly the confrontation with police spiraled completely at a control.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: Police say a Gumbuale allegedly punched a security guard after the group was escorted out and when officers moved to detain her,
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: Several WNBA players, including Dallas, wings, guard, page beckers, crowded around, and a cost of the police to let her go.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: The scene became so chaotic that an officer had to draw a taser and aim it directly towards beckers, ordering everyone to back away.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: A Gumbalwale was arrested on a misdemeanor battery charge, though prosecutors later dropped it.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_00]: No charges were reported again.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: Speckers.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: obviously given what's been happening with the WNBA blade.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: This is a story that goes way beyond simply an altercation between a professional athlete and law enforcement.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: It is but the latest in a series of events.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: that are calling into question the judgment, the accountability, and the culture surrounding players who are supposed to represent a league that's trying to cast itself as a legitimate sports organization as well as a moral conscience for the nation.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: Now as we reported earlier, just days ago, the WNBA Commissioner Kathy Engelberg announced her resignation.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: She called it a retirement, but even the ultra-woke sports journalists are calling it out for what it is.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: She's running away.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: And she is fleeing from a firestorm that she had a large part in igniting.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: Now you remember some weeks back after Indiana fever guard, so if he cunningham told ESPN that she opposed biological men playing in women's sport, of course.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: The ultra-woke wing of the WNBA revolted against what she said, a number of players and coaches responded directly to Sophie by making the nonsensical claim that the league was open to literally all anyone who identifies as a woman, whatever happens that, whatever that happens to be, is, uh, is, uh, can play.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: Now, within a matter of just a couple of days,
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: a couple of very brave NBA players decided they wanted to call that bluff in this counter and Royce White.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: They declared themselves WNBA Prospects for the 2027 draft, so they bought their both first round draft picks from NBA and they called their bluff.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: They said, OK, fine.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: You said anyone is qualified to play, you got it.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: Then we'll call out your virtue signaling and we'll play for the WNBA and we'll win every game by a 150 points right and so they went all the way with it to their credit they filed officially for consideration for the WNBA draft and then just days later WNBA officials came out and said no.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: No, after all that virtually signaling after all those lectures on inclusion that the WNBA is for anyone in everybody.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: They actually ruled that these two former NBA players in his canner and Royce White are not, and here's the key, they are not eligible to play in the women's whatever that is national basketball league.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: which of course only ended up pouring oil on the fire.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: What prey tell defines eligibility?
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: And that's exactly what Congress wants to know.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: Indiana Republican Congressman, Marlin Stutzman, and several other members of Congress.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: Santa letter to WNBA Commissioner Anglbert, demanding answers about player eligibility.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: Why are they claiming that anyone who identifies as a woman as eligible play only to reject as ineligible to biological men who supposedly identify as women?
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: What's going on here?
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: What precisely defines your eligibility requirements?
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: And that is precisely why, most importantly, if this ultra-woke commissioner is bailing.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: She's leaving because she can't even remotely begin to defend the obviously absurd notion that anyone who identifies as a woman, whatever that is, is eligible to play.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: But as it turns out, that's turning out to be the least of the WNBA's problems.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: And the liberal media isn't going to be able to bail
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously millions are realising that the news is broken.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: That what's presented is neutral reporting often steers perception instead of surfacing all the facts.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: Now luckily there is a solution that helps you see what's being emphasized, ignored or spun.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: Ground news pulls headlines from over 50,000 news sources and makes it easier to understand what's actually happening.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: You can see the political bias of each outlet in sites like reliability.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: and outlet ownership and how coverage breaks down across the spectrum.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: That's why over a million people have downloaded ground news.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: See it for yourself at ground.News slash Steve.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: You know, my favorite feature is called the blind spot feed.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: It shows you which stories are blowing up on one side of the aisle, but
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: barely mentioned if not ignored on the other, it's the clearest way to see media bias in action.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: So for example, here's a story barely getting any traction on the left, it's about Louisiana Center John Kennedy introducing a bill that would require all AI developers to build a kill switch.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: Now the left wing media seems completely oblivious to these AI developments, and of course the right has its own blind spots as well, but now you'll know, with every story ground who shows you the entire spectrum of who's reporting from left, right, and center, how reliable each source is, who owns each outlet.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's everything the corporate press doesn't want you to see, right now you can get 40% off
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: the vantage plan that gives you unlimited access to all the features that I personally use for about $5 a month, just visit ground.news slash Steve, click the link in the description to scan the QR code that's ground.news slash Steve.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_00]: The WNBA spent years telling fans that it's not merely a basketball league.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's an instrument of social change.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: It is a political platform.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's a moral authority.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's players, it's executives, it's media allies, speak as at the WNBA is uniquely qualified to lecture the country about justice, equality, policing, gender, race, and the state of American democracy.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: And then on top of the blatant hypocrisy of rejecting two biological men is unqualified to play for the game.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: now we've got this arrest video.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: And if you notice on that video, you can hear the players telling police that Ogun Boale is a champion.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: She's a sports celebrity.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: And therefore, she should be a
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, if you want to make yourself a moral institution go ahead, but you do not get to choose morality only when it's politically fashionable.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: You don't get to preach accountability for everyone else while soft pedaling bad conduct from your own side.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: You don't get to demand respect for the league while allowing the standards of the league to become selective and situational.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: and that is turning out to be a huge problem for the WNBA.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: The WNBA has increasingly built its public identity around progressive politics, political activism, and that political activism has just become so central to its brand that basketball itself
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: feel secondary.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: Fans who simply want to watch elite women, whatever that means, compete are just too often hand to the lecture.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: Fans who disagree with the preferred politics or treated as morally deficient, knuckle dragging.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_00]: players who challenge the approved liberal narrative, like Sophie Cunningham, they can face enormous pressure while players aligned with that narrative, receive gento, they receive accolades from the media in the activist class.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: The problem here is that you simply don't build a durable sports audience that way.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: The WNBA isn't building a sports audience.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's building a narrow ideological club.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: And when you build a narrow ideological club, you create a culture where people begin to believe the rules apply differently depending on who they are, what cause they represent, and whether the media considers them part of the right tribe.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: That mentality is poison.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: It's the mentality of entitlement.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's the mentality that says status defeats responsibility.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: And whether it's a celebrity, an athlete, a politician, or corporate executive, Americans are absolutely tired of watching influential people act as if ordinary standards apply only to ordinary people.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: Katelyn Clark is a perfect example of this larger dysfunction.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: She brought unprecedented attention to women's basketball, rightly so, she's brilliant.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: She drove ticket demand, television interests, merchandise sales, and new audience engagement.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yet, because of her identity, because of the color of her skin,
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: Rather than embracing that opportunity with gratitude and professionalism, too much of the surrounding conversation became resentment, racialized commentary, ideological warfare, and endless attempts to explain away why she was attracting fans, even going so far as claiming that some of these WNBA fans are themselves racist.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's insane.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: that's not how healthy leagues behave when a planner player expands their audience.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: The WMBA most certainly does have very talented athletes.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: It has exciting young players.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: It has a genuine opportunity to grow and prove itself like any other female sports league.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: But growth requires discipline.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: It requires institutional clarity.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: It requires respect for fans.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: And it requires leaders who understand that the league is not above the rules.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: It's not above criticism, and it's certainly not above reality.
