- 0:00Speaker 1: Coming up on Relatables. Don't let him change any decisions
- 0:04Speaker 1: you were going to make. But if you want to
- 0:05Speaker 1: go back to Italy and live your best life there,
- 0:08Speaker 1: do it. Do whatever you want to do.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:11Speaker 3: I don't think any decision is a wrong or right decision.
- 0:13Speaker 3: I think it's just like whatever decision you make is
- 0:15Speaker 3: the right decision and you just have to fully, you know,
- 0:18Speaker 3: go into it.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Okay, a little different start to this episode.
- 0:34Speaker 3: I'd like to ask you a quick question, go for it.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Has anyone ever gotten you a gift and then kept
- 0:43Speaker 3: it for themselves?
- 0:45Speaker 1: Feel like that's something you do want to No offense
- 0:49Speaker 1: ever happened to you. Off the top of my head,
- 0:53Speaker 1: no it hasn't. But is it about to happen to me?
- 0:56Speaker 2: I don't know, because I just want you to watch something.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Did I get you something and I kept it for myself?
- 1:04Speaker 2: I just want you to watch this. I'm gonna give
- 1:07Speaker 2: it to you in a second. Just press play on
- 1:09Speaker 2: the top there. Please?
- 1:10Speaker 1: What could I get you? Rolettables podcast is hosted by
- 1:15Speaker 1: Jake Craig aka scrub Daddy and myself A Clark aka
- 1:23Speaker 1: scrub Mummy, Scrub Mummy Bro.
- 1:28Speaker 2: I have a scrub mummy. In my it sounds like
- 1:31Speaker 2: a brand deal or advert or.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Some sort, but it's not. And I can't take the
- 1:36Speaker 1: claim for this. My girlfriend's mum for us born, for
- 1:40Speaker 1: us brush.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Where's my scrub daddy? Oh?
- 1:48Speaker 1: I think I just took it. He said you had one.
- 1:54Speaker 3: I couldn't help but think about this the other day
- 1:56Speaker 3: and I was like, wait, I need to go make
- 1:58Speaker 3: sure he did say us.
- 2:01Speaker 1: We were like, oh, it's about the time I need
- 2:04Speaker 1: a new scrub daddy. Oh, holy got me one. Ours
- 2:07Speaker 1: is deteriorated. I think what OI didn't get me one.
- 2:12Speaker 1: I think what would have happened was I would have
- 2:15Speaker 1: come up here to pick up the rubbish, clean up
- 2:17Speaker 1: the studio like a good co host that I am.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Would have come in here.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Saw the scrub daddy on the ground, disrespected. You would
- 2:24Speaker 1: have gone down just to go eat some food or
- 2:26Speaker 1: something like you usually do, probably probably something unhealthy. I
- 2:29Speaker 1: don't know. And I was like, you know what, I'm
- 2:32Speaker 1: just going to clean up if take back, and you
- 2:33Speaker 1: won't even know. And you only realized because you needed
- 2:36Speaker 1: a new srub daddy didn't.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Now do you want to know what I remember happening?
- 2:42Speaker 3: And at the time, I didn't say anything because I
- 2:44Speaker 3: wasn't in need of.
- 2:45Speaker 2: A scrub daddy. Yeah.
- 2:47Speaker 3: So if you keep playing it, like if I left
- 2:50Speaker 3: everything in there's a week, get to a point where
- 2:52Speaker 3: we're like, shit, we got to stop talking about it,
- 2:54Speaker 3: like their brand, this is free exposure, and and I
- 2:58Speaker 3: chuck and we chuck them over whatever. And I remember
- 3:01Speaker 3: when we were done recording, you were like, oh, yeah,
- 3:03Speaker 3: I'm going to take.
- 3:03Speaker 2: My scrub days and I was gonna. At the time,
- 3:05Speaker 2: I was like, I think one of them is my,
- 3:09Speaker 2: but I didn't say.
- 3:10Speaker 3: It because I was like, I don't even need what
- 3:13Speaker 3: I have on. And then yesterday I get home, we
- 3:16Speaker 3: get home from from we were, we go away, We
- 3:18Speaker 3: get home, and Joanna says, oh, next time you're out,
- 3:21Speaker 3: if you can remember, can you please get a new scrub, Mummy, because.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Oh, mummy, I was as fucked same scrub daddy, scrub.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Now you want my scrub, Mummy, I'll take them.
- 3:31Speaker 2: I think I deserved both of them.
- 3:33Speaker 3: After being given the gift and then stripped of it.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I've got nothing to say.
- 3:41Speaker 2: What do you say? Where is it?
- 3:42Speaker 1: It's still in the package, isn't it? My apologies? No,
- 3:44Speaker 1: they're in my kitchen sink. At least they're getting some use. Man,
- 3:49Speaker 1: think of that. I guess they're like a married couple.
- 3:51Speaker 1: My apologies, My apologies, scrub Hey. The gesture was there.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I could have easily from you. No, no, this is
- 3:59Speaker 1: what happened. So I got them from my girlfriend's mum.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:02Speaker 1: I could have easily just taken them home and you
- 4:04Speaker 1: would have never known any better. At least I brought
- 4:07Speaker 1: them to the podcast, and you knew you were getting
- 4:10Speaker 1: a gift. See, at least you have the satisfaction of
- 4:13Speaker 1: thinking you were getting a gift rather than not knowing
- 4:16Speaker 1: any of this going on in the background.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Does Cassie's mum listen to this. She might, So that
- 4:20Speaker 3: means that she's listening to this. She's really very she's
- 4:23Speaker 3: finding out at this very second. But that you didn't
- 4:26Speaker 3: even get actually give it to me, Yeah, she's gonna
- 4:28Speaker 3: be pick gave it to you. You might give something
- 4:31Speaker 3: to someone and then take it and then say I gave.
- 4:34Speaker 2: It to him.
- 4:34Speaker 1: You can when your cos just a chill guy. I
- 4:37Speaker 1: wouldn't notice. I didn't even do it consciously. Well, I'll
- 4:41Speaker 1: tell you what. We have other stuff in this studio
- 4:43Speaker 1: right now? What do you want of mine? You can
- 4:45Speaker 1: have that water pistol. I own half of everything in here.
- 4:48Speaker 1: What do you want half of everything? I wouldn't mind
- 4:51Speaker 1: that laptop. That's the only thing. That's the only thing
- 4:54Speaker 1: I owned fully fucking now.
- 4:59Speaker 2: But so I guess.
- 5:01Speaker 3: I mean I get to say I've been given a
- 5:03Speaker 3: gift and then take I'll get you.
- 5:04Speaker 1: A scrub daddy? Is that the whole point of this segment?
- 5:07Speaker 2: Actually? I need to just go order a few.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:09Speaker 3: The guy that invented that ship is rolling in it,
- 5:14Speaker 3: like he literally, there's no I honestly reckon. He gets
- 5:17Speaker 3: custom made toilet paper with one hundred dollar bills and
- 5:19Speaker 3: he wipes his ass with that.
- 5:20Speaker 1: I've always wanted to be one of those people who
- 5:22Speaker 1: like say like, oh, what do you do for a living? Like,
- 5:24Speaker 1: and they say, like the most random, niche thing. It's
- 5:27Speaker 1: just like, oh, yeah, I own Alan Snakes. Yeah, like
- 5:30Speaker 1: they like I own scrub daddyddy.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Have you ever have you ever plugged something into a
- 5:35Speaker 3: wall and you're like, yeah, like I invented sockets, Like
- 5:39Speaker 3: what the fuck are you talking about?
- 5:41Speaker 1: The wheels in your cart? That was me.
- 5:46Speaker 2: I have a friend a family friend. Who do you
- 5:52Speaker 2: do you really this is not I have a family acquaintance.
- 5:56Speaker 2: There we go, Okay, at least you.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Put a family in front of it, because otherwise you
- 6:00Speaker 1: don't have any friends ever to me, man.
- 6:03Speaker 3: I actually I do have friends of the news. His
- 6:05Speaker 3: name is Harry Quayle.
- 6:07Speaker 1: He's a business partner mate. There's underlying tis.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Or he's a conditional friend, not an unconditional friend. He's
- 6:14Speaker 3: a conditional friend. Just kidding, Harry, love you, but he'll
- 6:17Speaker 3: say something to us if I'd say that. But so,
- 6:22Speaker 3: I there's a guy that I know, a family acquaintance.
- 6:28Speaker 2: But so he like you know how walll kids go
- 6:33Speaker 2: in to different type of sports.
- 6:35Speaker 3: He took up like go karting, like proper like on
- 6:41Speaker 3: your way to the f one Yeah yeah, yeah, like
- 6:42Speaker 3: proper professional like go karting. And he was like I
- 6:47Speaker 3: don't know if he was the best in Australia, but
- 6:48Speaker 3: he was.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Like up there.
- 6:50Speaker 1: And then wait, family friend. I know Jake's family. So
- 6:55Speaker 1: he was rich, No he wasn't, and he was gocarting,
- 7:00Speaker 1: but isn't it a rich sport?
- 7:01Speaker 3: So like they know it's an expensive sport to be
- 7:03Speaker 3: and they're like they I don't think they have a
- 7:05Speaker 3: lot of money. And so this guy he is like
- 7:10Speaker 3: racing in like competitive racing in like go karting, and
- 7:14Speaker 3: then I don't know if it was in Australia or
- 7:16Speaker 3: if he went straight from go karting up to he
- 7:18Speaker 3: got like picked up to go race in this audi
- 7:20Speaker 3: circuit in Germany. And he lived in Germany, and he
- 7:24Speaker 3: raced in Germany, and he went to Union Germany and stuff.
- 7:26Speaker 3: He like he can speak fluent German. I don't know
- 7:28Speaker 3: if he still can because he hasn't been there for years.
- 7:30Speaker 3: But so I remember he had come home for a
- 7:32Speaker 3: bit and I saw him and I was asking about it,
- 7:35Speaker 3: and he's like, it's a fucking sick thing, you know.
- 7:37Speaker 3: It's like but it was really hard for him to
- 7:39Speaker 3: compete with the people he was racing against because they
- 7:42Speaker 3: all came from like very very wealthy backgrounds, and like
- 7:46Speaker 3: they could hire out a track for like practice time,
- 7:49Speaker 3: where he couldn't because it cost so much money. So
- 7:51Speaker 3: he would only get like the day before a race,
- 7:53Speaker 3: he would get to practice and then the next day
- 7:55Speaker 3: was a race. So he had to be just like
- 7:57Speaker 3: pure skill for him. I think he did decently, he
- 7:59Speaker 3: goes like third a.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Couple of times.
- 8:01Speaker 3: But so one of the people who was racing against
- 8:04Speaker 3: was the was a child of like royalty from like
- 8:10Speaker 3: some weird European country, like their mom and dad was
- 8:12Speaker 3: like the prince and princess of this country. That's cool,
- 8:15Speaker 3: And they were racing against this person that was just
- 8:17Speaker 3: like literally a princess or a prince or whatever. And
- 8:19Speaker 3: then another one that was like going along the lines
- 8:23Speaker 3: of like that weird thing that made you rich was
- 8:26Speaker 3: he was racing against a guy's son, and the guy's son.
- 8:30Speaker 3: So the dad of this guy's of this guy was
- 8:33Speaker 3: the guy who invented chocolate sprinkles, and they were just
- 8:40Speaker 3: fucking loaded from it.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Invented chocolate sprinkles.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Bro, wait, what can we create? And so I remember
- 8:49Speaker 1: being a kid and like, there's okay, I've got something, Yeah,
- 8:54Speaker 1: gum that never loses its flavor?
- 8:57Speaker 2: Is that possible? And if it is, that would exist.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Months with a mindset like I'll be having kids around
- 9:06Speaker 1: a go kart course and you'll be fucking eating your
- 9:09Speaker 1: ship gum.
- 9:12Speaker 3: But do you remember when we were in early beach
- 9:17Speaker 3: before we started the podcast, we were like in our
- 9:19Speaker 3: cars living in our cars and sounds like technically we were.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Technically we literally were, and no we weren't. We had
- 9:29Speaker 2: homes to go back to if we wanted to. Sorry
- 9:31Speaker 2: we put that out there, but.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Do you remember we And that was when I had
- 9:35Speaker 3: just broken up with a girlfriend and we started going
- 9:39Speaker 3: to the gym gravity fitness fucking hectic.
- 9:41Speaker 1: I remember showing Jake the ropes.
- 9:43Speaker 3: Yeah, but do you I remember just like as soon
- 9:44Speaker 3: as we started going to gym, we would like we
- 9:46Speaker 3: went bought some pre workout. We went and bought like protein,
- 9:49Speaker 3: and then you were telling me about like what creatine
- 9:50Speaker 3: is that you were teaching me all the ship and
- 9:52Speaker 3: then I remember we were like we for some reason
- 9:55Speaker 3: didn't like the creatine or no, maybe we didn't like
- 9:57Speaker 3: the pre workout or something. But I remember we had
- 9:59Speaker 3: this idea to have pre workout gum.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Oh you remember that.
- 10:04Speaker 1: I do remember. And that's the thing now and then
- 10:07Speaker 1: for like three years later, someone's invented it.
- 10:11Speaker 2: So ef. You know, I think we can I think
- 10:13Speaker 2: if we put our minds to it, like we can
- 10:15Speaker 2: have a good idea. If we go through it, it could
- 10:17Speaker 2: be good.
- 10:17Speaker 1: And the other day, like six months ago, Jake said,
- 10:20Speaker 1: Netflix original two Guys on a podcast. Yeah, is like
- 10:24Speaker 1: the core theme of it.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Like, yeah, there needs to be in a Netflix series
- 10:28Speaker 3: about a podcast.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Nobody wants This came out like a month ago, and
- 10:33Speaker 1: he's finished it. I know I did finish it. You'll
- 10:35Speaker 1: find out about that.
- 10:36Speaker 2: I still talk about it now.
- 10:37Speaker 1: We can talk about it now.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Why not.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Nobody wants this? You loved it? I fucking loved it.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Mid Really so what so?
- 10:47Speaker 2: Nah?
- 10:48Speaker 1: You're what are you talking about?
- 10:49Speaker 3: So?
- 10:49Speaker 2: Mid Man? Tell me why I need a reasonable I.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Could tell what was happening, like ten miles away.
- 10:54Speaker 2: See that's what I liked about it.
- 10:56Speaker 1: For your it's an easy watch, your simple brain.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Didn't I say that it's an easy watch?
- 11:01Speaker 1: Yeah, easy watch to me? Doesn't know I know what's
- 11:03Speaker 1: going to happen, Like Modern Modern Family is an easy watch,
- 11:06Speaker 1: and I.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Don't know what's gonna happen. I didn't know what was
- 11:08Speaker 2: going to happen, Yes, I did.
- 11:09Speaker 1: You could easily tell they were going to fall in
- 11:11Speaker 1: love at the end.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Obviously it's a fucking drum of romance.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Spoiler alert, We're going to talk about everything in it,
- 11:19Speaker 1: but yeah, spoilers. Okay, So firstly, how do they depict podcasting?
- 11:24Speaker 2: Yeah, see that was a question someone asked them. That's
- 11:25Speaker 2: why I watched it. So what do you think.
- 11:29Speaker 1: It wasn't that much podcasting. I guess they depicted it,
- 11:32Speaker 1: like Jake said, quite well, with like they were always saying, like, no,
- 11:35Speaker 1: save it for the podcast, especially because they were sisters
- 11:37Speaker 1: and like I assume they always hang out, which I
- 11:40Speaker 1: think was quite true, especially when we have a good
- 11:41Speaker 1: story or like a good video, we'll not show each
- 11:43Speaker 1: other or a good saying or something.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Yeah, good meme.
- 11:47Speaker 1: But otherwise they made it seem quite easy.
- 11:51Speaker 2: They did make it seem easy. I think that the.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Whole point of it was like they were already a
- 11:55Speaker 3: very well established Yeah, so I think that was kind
- 11:57Speaker 3: of left out.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Yeah, Like the content wise, like talking about everything seem
- 12:02Speaker 1: quite which for some people I assume it would be
- 12:05Speaker 1: quite easy for like big teams around him.
- 12:07Speaker 2: But I thought it was.
- 12:08Speaker 1: I don't know it was to a certain extent, it
- 12:10Speaker 1: wasn't that much about podcasting.
- 12:11Speaker 2: I thought it'd be a little bit more.
- 12:12Speaker 1: I would say, it's like pretty pretty true, like it
- 12:14Speaker 1: was a similar to us as well, like sex relationships
- 12:16Speaker 1: and stuff. Yeah, I thought it was interesting in it
- 12:20Speaker 1: when she got a boyfriend to the rabbi what was
- 12:23Speaker 1: his name?
- 12:24Speaker 2: Fuck, I don't get I watched it one the rabbi like.
- 12:27Speaker 1: The podcast started to flunk because she didn't want to
- 12:30Speaker 1: open up about her relationship, which I thought was a
- 12:33Speaker 1: little bit relatable because we do have this little mental
- 12:36Speaker 1: battle of what to tell and what not to tell
- 12:38Speaker 1: on the podcast, but we're pretty open to be honest, and.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I think they were depicted to be more open
- 12:45Speaker 2: and honest.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Yeah, and like if they were even talking about one
- 12:48Speaker 3: thing I noticed was like they were like, you know,
- 12:50Speaker 3: downloads are tanking because you're boring now you're not that
- 12:53Speaker 3: fun single person. And and I think like we had
- 12:56Speaker 3: a mental battle when we both got girlfriends, Like not
- 13:00Speaker 3: not that we not that we went out and did
- 13:03Speaker 3: fun ship before that, Yeah, but I think like leaning
- 13:07Speaker 3: into the fact that we have girlfriends actually was better.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, I think so too. We definitely had that
- 13:12Speaker 1: mental battle at the style like do I tell everyone
- 13:14Speaker 1: or no?
- 13:14Speaker 2: Do we bring it up straight away?
- 13:16Speaker 3: Do we?
- 13:17Speaker 1: And then the storyline, man, I just didn't like it really.
- 13:21Speaker 1: She was like patrol, like they both didn't know what
- 13:24Speaker 1: they wanted out of a relationship.
- 13:25Speaker 2: It was so toxic.
- 13:26Speaker 1: He was very he was putting his job before her yep,
- 13:30Speaker 1: which I gets relatable. But then he was alluding to
- 13:32Speaker 1: the fact that she was his everything. But then behind
- 13:35Speaker 1: the closed doors he's like, dah, I want to be
- 13:37Speaker 1: the best rabbi ever. And then he didn't know what
- 13:38Speaker 1: he wanted. Then he was kept coming back on himself
- 13:40Speaker 1: and making the relationship confusing. I was like, this guy's toxic,
- 13:43Speaker 1: and then she was toxic because she's out coming out
- 13:45Speaker 1: of past toxic relationships. And then she's fucking snooping, and
- 13:48Speaker 1: then the brothers and sisters are getting involved. I was like, mane,
- 13:51Speaker 1: this is fucking this is just one big fuck fest.
- 13:54Speaker 2: The brother loved him.
- 13:58Speaker 3: He was a mad dog's wife bitch. Oh yeah, biggest
- 14:04Speaker 3: bitch ever. Or what about the rabbi's mum?
- 14:08Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 14:09Speaker 1: The only part I really is a cow. Yeah. Because
- 14:12Speaker 1: they portrayed someone commented to Judaism, they did.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Yeah. What I wanted to know was how how accurate
- 14:17Speaker 2: was a Judaism? And I don't.
- 14:18Speaker 3: I think there was a bit of backlash with the
- 14:20Speaker 3: show of that it wasn't very accurate.
- 14:21Speaker 2: They portrayed it like too culty.
- 14:23Speaker 3: But you need an antagonist, yeah, you know, And so
- 14:26Speaker 3: they decided that that's way to do it. But I mean,
- 14:28Speaker 3: I think we're not like I think it's there's some
- 14:31Speaker 3: people that probably would be like, oh wow, Judaism is
- 14:33Speaker 3: like a cult, but I don't think we're dumb enough
- 14:36Speaker 3: to think that.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:37Speaker 3: So I think we're a good audience to watch it
- 14:38Speaker 3: because we're not going to think of Jewish people as
- 14:40Speaker 3: like dickheads.
- 14:41Speaker 2: No, no, not at all.
- 14:42Speaker 1: And I suppose it was quite ironing because I know
- 14:44Speaker 1: nothing about Judaism.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I'd say they got some stuff accurate about just
- 14:48Speaker 3: like you know, the church and like he's a yeah,
- 14:51Speaker 3: but overall it's Kristin Bell, Christ.
- 14:54Speaker 2: And Bell something about it in that day, I know.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Yeah, Like I've never found like Christ and Bell, like
- 14:58Speaker 1: I don't know, like neither attractive, Like yeah, wow, she's beautiful.
- 15:03Speaker 2: They portrayed her good.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Wait the first kiss scene. But tell me you liked that,
- 15:06Speaker 3: Oh that was good? Yeah yeah, yeah, tell me that
- 15:08Speaker 3: was the best.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Thing you I think you built it up in my
- 15:11Speaker 1: head that it was too good and then it was mid.
- 15:12Speaker 2: You see, But that's I think it's that good. I
- 15:15Speaker 2: think it's that good.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Overall, they have what is it, IMBD ratings rotten tomatoes.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Now they got rotten relatables. Rating is six point nine
- 15:26Speaker 1: out of ten.
- 15:28Speaker 2: What do you mean?
- 15:31Speaker 3: I was gonna say out of five out of ten? Yeah,
- 15:34Speaker 3: I honestly I think it deserves seven and a half.
- 15:38Speaker 1: That's not that good.
- 15:40Speaker 2: It is out of ten.
- 15:41Speaker 1: The way you were explaining it was like a fucking
- 15:43Speaker 1: nine point.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Now, but I've watched shows that are way better. I
- 15:46Speaker 2: just watched a cartoon that I think is a ten invincible.
- 15:50Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to stop taking your recommendation to day.
- 15:53Speaker 1: You need to play like your cards better.
- 15:55Speaker 2: What okay, Well, I'm about to watch The Lincoln Lawyer.
- 15:58Speaker 3: You've been frothing at the mouth, by the way, and
- 16:01Speaker 3: if it's ship if.
- 16:02Speaker 1: I don't like it, but it might be too intellectual
- 16:05Speaker 1: for you, Like there's a lot of thinking involved, and
- 16:09Speaker 1: like you've got to understand the cases and how the
- 16:11Speaker 1: court room.
- 16:11Speaker 2: What if I put the subtitles on that might help?
- 16:14Speaker 1: That might help. But if you don't like it, it's
- 16:17Speaker 1: because you don't understand.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Okay, with nobody wants this.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Firstly, I can't believe there isn't a podcast called Nobody
- 16:27Speaker 3: Wants This Now, and it's Nobody.
- 16:29Speaker 1: I like the writing on it.
- 16:30Speaker 2: I loved it.
- 16:32Speaker 3: But secondly, I've got to say, like for a gen
- 16:38Speaker 3: Z world that we now live in, right this like
- 16:41Speaker 3: twenty first century, I reckon they got the flaws that
- 16:47Speaker 3: we all.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Have going into a relationship.
- 16:49Speaker 3: I think they got it all quite accurate of like
- 16:52Speaker 3: how we think and the overthinking and then like you know,
- 16:55Speaker 3: the the scariness of like committing to it instead of
- 16:57Speaker 3: the job that you've worked so hard for, shit like that.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Yes, I feel like they got that one.
- 17:01Speaker 1: I guess they're right, and they had to like go
- 17:03Speaker 1: into it in more depth to make it entertaining.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Yeah, one hundred percent.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Yeah, rather than just have the mental battle on yourself,
- 17:09Speaker 1: they actually had to go through with it.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Also, so the main character, dude right I plays his boyfriend.
- 17:13Speaker 2: I wish I remember his name. But also I didn't think.
- 17:16Speaker 1: It was that good looking there portraying him. He's just
- 17:18Speaker 1: really good looking.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Rabbi. I got to say, like there was something about it.
- 17:22Speaker 1: I should have like cleaned his bead up or something,
- 17:24Speaker 1: but I.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Think that's like adding to the ruggedness.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Maybe he wasn't overly masculine, like I want to say, though,
- 17:30Speaker 3: there's not a human on planet Earth with riz like that.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no, one can talk like that.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Now. The study was smooth. He is the smoothest personal life.
- 17:40Speaker 1: And also I was falling in love with him. You
- 17:42Speaker 1: touched on the fact of like if you're dating an
- 17:45Speaker 1: actor or an actress and they're having like an intimate
- 17:48Speaker 1: love making or kissing scene, I don't think.
- 17:51Speaker 2: I could do it. No, they looks like they were
- 17:55Speaker 2: in love, or I couldn't watch the show.
- 17:57Speaker 1: No, I wouldn't watch to show you either, But I
- 17:59Speaker 1: need my wife to like this is a real kiss,
- 18:01Speaker 1: or this is they're really like going for it right now,
- 18:03Speaker 1: Like he's hard.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Yeah, there's no way he's not hard. And there's no
- 18:07Speaker 2: way her panties aren't dripping right now. Yeah, the way
- 18:10Speaker 2: that he grabs her.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Face when they kiss and they think about how many
- 18:14Speaker 3: takes they have to do.
- 18:15Speaker 1: But yo, I didn't even think about that. Yeah, maybe
- 18:17Speaker 1: he's playing in our immaturity, but like imagine like he's
- 18:20Speaker 1: fucking your wife's coming home from work and then smells
- 18:23Speaker 1: like another man and like, how's your We did like
- 18:25Speaker 1: six kissing scenes, like he was getting a bit over
- 18:28Speaker 1: it by the end of it, but.
- 18:29Speaker 2: We kissed for like three hours.
- 18:33Speaker 1: I talked to Jake oh.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Man, like, Okay.
- 18:36Speaker 3: I listened to the Armchair Expert episode where he had
- 18:41Speaker 3: his wife on. So Archer Expert is by Dax Shepherd. Yeah,
- 18:44Speaker 3: it's a podcast, and Kristen Bell, the main character in
- 18:46Speaker 3: the show, is his wife and he had the other
- 18:48Speaker 3: guy on with her. They were on together. You should
- 18:51Speaker 3: listen to. And Dax is a chill guy.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Oh.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Yeah, he doesn't give a shit because he just is
- 18:59Speaker 1: an actor as well.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and then the guy, but the guy is also
- 19:02Speaker 2: married the other guy that is in it, But that
- 19:04Speaker 2: would happen all the time.
- 19:05Speaker 3: Let's just quickly like just because everyone's probably so pissed
- 19:07Speaker 3: off at us, Like I just want to look up
- 19:09Speaker 3: his name in real life.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Yeah, se Kristen Bell is the main girl.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Yeah, and he wants this Adam Brody and he plays
- 19:17Speaker 3: Noah Noah that it and Kristen Bell's character is Joanne.
- 19:20Speaker 3: But the guy so Timothy Simmons plays Sasha Roklov and
- 19:24Speaker 3: he's Adam Brody's brother in the show. And he's the
- 19:27Speaker 3: funniest fucking guy alive. I think he is the best.
- 19:31Speaker 1: That was good acting. But for everyone, if you want
- 19:33Speaker 1: to go watch it, I recommend it.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Go watch it if you just want to sit there
- 19:38Speaker 3: and watch something that you're not going to get super
- 19:40Speaker 3: emotionally invested in, and if like a character was to die,
- 19:43Speaker 3: you'd be upset. Like, nobody dies in this But I'm
- 19:45Speaker 3: saying like, if there's an issue in an episode, that
- 19:47Speaker 3: resolved that episode. I hate it when there's an issue
- 19:49Speaker 3: in an episode and you have to wait till the
- 19:51Speaker 3: next episode.
- 19:51Speaker 1: It's a good show. If you want to watch some
- 19:53Speaker 1: TikTok's whits on in the background there you go, Yeah.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Legit, that's what I did. Well.
- 19:58Speaker 4: Yeah, like you just sit there and you fucking I
- 20:00Speaker 4: had to focus on it, you sib Yeah, dah m.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Let's go. You guys know what to do. Link is
- 20:14Speaker 2: in the description of this video or in our bio
- 20:17Speaker 2: on Instagram. You go down. It's all anonymous and.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Yeah, if you want a dilima in the episode, that's
- 20:22Speaker 3: where you submit it. Okay, Hey Addie and Jake, first off,
- 20:29Speaker 3: huge thanks for having the guts to start this podcast. Seriously,
- 20:32Speaker 3: you guys have made my drives.
- 20:33Speaker 2: So much more fun. Here's my dilemma. Thank you very
- 20:38Speaker 2: much for that compliment, by the way. So here's the setup.
- 20:41Speaker 3: I'm a PhD student and last year, while I was
- 20:44Speaker 3: studying abroad, I met my now ex boyfriend. He was
- 20:49Speaker 3: also an international student, and we had a great thing
- 20:52Speaker 3: going for about ten months. He ended up finishing his
- 20:56Speaker 3: degree before me and headed back home while I stayed
- 20:59Speaker 3: in a few more months. We went long distance after that,
- 21:04Speaker 3: and honestly.
- 21:05Speaker 2: We made it work.
- 21:06Speaker 3: We'd call every day, send little updates, and even plan visits.
- 21:12Speaker 3: But then I started noticing small changes. I brushed it
- 21:16Speaker 3: off at first, thinking it was just my anxiety since
- 21:20Speaker 3: I was basically living in the lab, always tired. Turns
- 21:24Speaker 3: out my gut was right. He called me a few
- 21:28Speaker 3: weeks later to say he'd met someone back home and
- 21:31Speaker 3: wanted to be with her, Bustard Bustard.
- 21:35Speaker 2: He said the distance was.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Too hard, and quote unquote, it just felt right with her,
- 21:42Speaker 3: So I told him I understood and wished him all
- 21:45Speaker 3: the best.
- 21:46Speaker 2: We haven't talked since.
- 21:48Speaker 3: Fast forward to now, I'm wrapping up my research and
- 21:51Speaker 3: applying for post doc positions. I've gotten some offers, including
- 21:56Speaker 3: one at his university, which of course is an incredible,
- 22:01Speaker 3: has an incredible cancer center and would be amazing for
- 22:04Speaker 3: my work. So now I'm like, should I go there?
- 22:08Speaker 3: Or should I just head back to Italy and avoid
- 22:11Speaker 3: the whole situation? And to make things worse, I just
- 22:15Speaker 3: listened to your How Boys Love episode and now the
- 22:18Speaker 3: whole Limerence thing is stuck in my head? Am I
- 22:21Speaker 3: an asshole?
- 22:21Speaker 2: If I go?
- 22:22Speaker 3: I'd love to hear your thoughts and hope you've got
- 22:25Speaker 3: to kick out of my story?
- 22:27Speaker 2: Thanks?
- 22:27Speaker 1: Well, is she an asshole if she goes to his uni?
- 22:30Speaker 2: Yes?
- 22:30Speaker 1: No way, I don't think so either, not at all. Firstly, really,
- 22:36Speaker 1: it makes me happy that people who are doing a
- 22:38Speaker 1: PhD listen to this podcast. Yeah, I don't disagree with that,
- 22:48Speaker 1: but fucking like, props to you, Like, that's crazy. That
- 22:51Speaker 1: is a smarty pants if you ask me, h, that
- 22:54Speaker 1: is so cool. I'm trying to just like wrap my
- 22:56Speaker 1: head around.
- 22:56Speaker 2: I have a year ten education.
- 23:00Speaker 1: How much work goes into that, So props to you
- 23:02Speaker 1: for completing that. Firstly, Yeah, but have you done that plan?
- 23:08Speaker 1: Jake's not even gonna be able to understand Lincoln lawyers soon.
- 23:15Speaker 1: But okay, okay, okay, okay, let's break this down So firstly,
- 23:21Speaker 1: the long distance thing that always fucking happens that exact situation.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Yes, breaks apart.
- 23:26Speaker 1: And he's like, oh, no one's in front of me anymore.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Oh I don't love you anymore. Fuck you so sorry
- 23:31Speaker 1: I had to go through that.
- 23:32Speaker 2: That sucks. He tried.
- 23:33Speaker 1: At least you tried. This script to say you tried. Yeah,
- 23:36Speaker 1: But honestly, it's a simple answer. Jesus, act like you
- 23:41Speaker 1: would if you never dated this boy. If you want
- 23:44Speaker 1: to go to this great cancer research university, do it.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Who gives a fuck.
- 23:50Speaker 1: There's millions of people in the world, and don't let
- 23:54Speaker 1: him change any decisions you were going to make. But
- 23:56Speaker 1: if you want to go back to Italy and live
- 23:58Speaker 1: your best life there, do whatever you want to do.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't think any decision is a wrong or
- 24:04Speaker 2: right decision.
- 24:04Speaker 3: I think it's just like whatever decision you make is
- 24:07Speaker 3: the right decision, and you just have to fully, you know,
- 24:10Speaker 3: go into it.
- 24:10Speaker 1: We saw when were yourself. We've done research. We've done
- 24:14Speaker 1: some research too.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Eh.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Oh really in some past episodes how people get over breakups?
- 24:21Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, they avoid places where their ex might be.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Or usually hang that could be considered unhealthy.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Yeah, and like maybe that's your approach to get over
- 24:33Speaker 1: your ex is like I don't want to go anywhere
- 24:34Speaker 1: I might see him because it might bring all these
- 24:36Speaker 1: emotions back. But I think it's important that you deal
- 24:38Speaker 1: with all the emotions from the breakup. Assume it's like
- 24:41Speaker 1: how long the stations they break up she's.
- 24:43Speaker 2: Been she was with him for ten months and a while. Yeah,
- 24:49Speaker 2: I don't.
- 24:49Speaker 3: It didn't say how long they've been broken up for,
- 24:51Speaker 3: but I'd say it's been a little while.
- 24:53Speaker 1: I think it's important to make your decision up before
- 24:56Speaker 1: you leave, that you're going to go there and be like,
- 24:57Speaker 1: all right, I've got fucking three months to get over
- 25:01Speaker 1: this guy before I moved there. Because no ex boyfriend
- 25:05Speaker 1: or ex girlfriend should have any impacting factor of what
- 25:08Speaker 1: decisions you make in your life, especially if they're important
- 25:11Speaker 1: ones like doing haptic cancer research to benefit the fucking
- 25:14Speaker 1: community around us. Yeah, like, go do whatever is best
- 25:18Speaker 1: for you and your career. Not any fucker boy who
- 25:21Speaker 1: can't realize what an important person you are.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I don't think.
- 25:25Speaker 3: Yeah, look if you go there and you see him
- 25:27Speaker 3: and he's like, what are you doing here, and you
- 25:28Speaker 3: just be like I got accepted.
- 25:29Speaker 2: You know, I'm researching cancer. What's he gonna say? You
- 25:31Speaker 2: came here for me? You're researching cancer. I know who
- 25:36Speaker 2: the fuck's gonna try and be like I'm the main
- 25:37Speaker 2: character here. You came here for me. You're not a
- 25:39Speaker 2: research and cancer Yeah, obviously researching cancer. Yeah, I don't
- 25:42Speaker 2: ever think it.
- 25:43Speaker 1: And then you then go date like a hot professor
- 25:45Speaker 1: or something. Yeah, yeah, get with the hottest guy. That's
- 25:48Speaker 1: a good question for your jack. Yeah, you know how
- 25:50Speaker 1: you'd like so smart doing nap land and ship. Yeah.
- 25:52Speaker 1: What does PhD mean?
- 25:57Speaker 2: I actually noticed, I actually do know. I PhD means
- 26:00Speaker 2: it is.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Like, once I start, don't laugh or anything, because I
- 26:05Speaker 3: think I might be able to spit it out of.
- 26:11Speaker 2: Physician doctor.
- 26:14Speaker 1: PhD.
- 26:15Speaker 2: I thought physicians start with pH What is it? Sandfle
- 26:19Speaker 2: do you know? I don't know. Let me look at that.
- 26:22Speaker 3: I have no idea practical something doctor?
- 26:29Speaker 2: It does no right? What does PhD stand for? What's like?
- 26:32Speaker 2: Why is it a brollidy?
- 26:33Speaker 3: What does PhD stand for? Here you go, oh ship,
- 26:37Speaker 3: It literally is doctor of philosophy.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Oh so I think pretty big.
- 26:42Speaker 3: PhD just means doctor. And so if you have your
- 26:45Speaker 3: PhD in something. You have your doctor of philosophy, but
- 26:48Speaker 3: that just means like doctor. They just take of philosophy
- 26:51Speaker 3: away from like doctor of medicine, doctor of business, doctor
- 26:53Speaker 3: of You can be a doctor of anything, like you
- 26:56Speaker 3: can have your PhD in like anything.
- 26:58Speaker 2: That's really confusing.
- 26:59Speaker 3: So like that's why, that's why I like, that's why
- 27:05Speaker 3: doctors so like people that are like a general practitioner,
- 27:10Speaker 3: like an actual like a family doctor or like a surgeon.
- 27:13Speaker 3: Like I think they give like ship to fucking dentists
- 27:17Speaker 3: and stuff, because like a dentist is a doctorate in
- 27:19Speaker 3: dental in dentistry, and like a chiropractor is a doctor
- 27:25Speaker 3: in that field. But like I don't think they all
- 27:29Speaker 3: know how to like save a life on a plane
- 27:31Speaker 3: if you know someone's having a seizure and they're like,
- 27:32Speaker 3: is there a doctor here? I don't think they can
- 27:34Speaker 3: all like say that they are the equivalent of that.
- 27:36Speaker 3: Can you can be a doctor of like psychology?
- 27:39Speaker 1: Can you get a PhD in podcast?
- 27:43Speaker 3: I think we can give them out.
- 27:46Speaker 1: We should be remember ray Gun from the Olympics, the
- 27:48Speaker 1: Australian breakdancing theme. She had a PhD in breakdancing and
- 27:51Speaker 1: she actually uni I'm going to get one for us.
- 27:55Speaker 2: That's roommate goes to that UNI.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Really, yeah, I'm going to get this sick info.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Man, it's a fucking universe.
- 28:03Speaker 1: I thought you were going to finish that sentence.
- 28:06Speaker 2: I mean, just like that, you go to the UNI,
- 28:08Speaker 2: that rega.
- 28:10Speaker 1: I must have that many fucking people. The biggest university
- 28:15Speaker 1: is in here, sick. Sorry.
- 28:20Speaker 2: I thought you just like wanted to add in the conversation.
- 28:22Speaker 2: You know, I wanted to be I wanted to have
- 28:23Speaker 2: the last words in that conversation. All right, to.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Everybody, thank you for listening. We now have a brief
- 28:37Speaker 1: paragraph from our up and coming inspiring PhD candidate in podcasting,
- 28:42Speaker 1: mister Jake Mitchell Craig. Could you please read us a
- 28:45Speaker 1: piece from your book.
- 28:46Speaker 3: Yes, this is my book, one hundred and nine Things
- 28:48Speaker 3: to Say to Shadow the mail Lego had a piss
- 28:49Speaker 3: man off. I wrote it with Carle Preu. Yes, he
- 28:52Speaker 3: helped me out on that. He's trying to help me
- 28:53Speaker 3: get my doctorate. Okay, this one here, page thirteen. So
- 29:01Speaker 3: it says underneath it says men hate being discussed because
- 29:05Speaker 3: it's how they get caught. So you say, quote, oh,
- 29:09Speaker 3: trust me, we've talked about it. Yeah, I didn't write
- 29:13Speaker 3: this page, Carl.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Wrote, go again, Okay that PhD is looking for this
- 29:22Speaker 1: next one more like a bachelor's degree.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Mate, I hope you know who this guy is.
- 29:25Speaker 3: Okay, so you say quote you remind me of James
- 29:30Speaker 3: Cordon You know who that is. When he asks why
- 29:34Speaker 3: you've said such a thing, respond with, oh, you're just
- 29:37Speaker 3: as funny. Sorry, Oh you're just funny in the way
- 29:40Speaker 3: that he's funny. Even men who like James Corden don't
- 29:43Speaker 3: want to be James Corden.
- 29:45Speaker 2: Which is fair.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Why don't they want to be?
- 29:47Speaker 2: I don't know. I think he's a bit of like
- 29:48Speaker 2: a sellout or something. Who knows I wouldn't want to be.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Well, my piece of advice is I.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Wouldn't want to have his bank account.
- 29:55Speaker 1: But keep working on your book, mate. I was good.
- 29:59Speaker 1: That was pretty shoot. But thanks everybody for listening. If
- 30:04Speaker 1: you have any ways to piss man off, let us
- 30:06Speaker 1: know and we can read them out from you.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Guys.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll keep doing check need some help, but we
- 30:11Speaker 1: love your five star Patreon extra episode every single week.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Facebook group batties is going great. Going to be a
- 30:17Speaker 1: description of this episode and we love that ye
