- 0:22Along with all her chickens. Hey everybody.
- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop so Today we are talking
- 0:31about a parking lot and I'm not talking about your traditional
- 0:36parking lot of where you put your car.
- 0:38But what I am talking about is this concept that I have been
- 0:42doing for years and years and years for myself about grabbing
- 0:46ideas and not necessarily being ready to drive them.
- 0:50But capturing them in a place where you can keep them safe
- 0:54until you're ready to drive them or release them so that they can
- 0:57go away and somebody else can bring them to life.
- 1:00Life. So parking.
- 1:02Lots to me are a part of an everyday process because it's
- 1:07just inherent nature of someone who's creative or who wants to
- 1:11be creative to have a place where they can, you know, spend
- 1:16time during their day, thinking about things to be creative.
- 1:19The more time you spend in creativity or allowing yourself
- 1:23to be creative and whatever form that takes for you.
- 1:28The more likely you are to be a happy person, creativity is a
- 1:32huge, huge gift. And we as human beings often
- 1:36forget how much we need it and we put it aside and we think
- 1:40it's a luxury and it's not the more, you cultivate your
- 1:44creativity, the happier your soul is it's just that simple.
- 1:47You know, one thing that you can learn from the Bible is talking
- 1:52about, you know, just diving into it.
- 1:55You can feel how creative God God is in the process throughout
- 1:59the Bible and I truly believe that we are meant to co-create.
- 2:04That's why we have the tenacity to keep creating, keep coming up
- 2:08with things, no matter how much you do.
- 2:10No matter how much you work on something, you're always going
- 2:13to want to change it. I don't care if it's something
- 2:15simple like your business card. I mean stop and pause and think
- 2:17for a second how often have you had different designs on
- 2:20business cards like you think you got it?
- 2:22Okay, that's it. I got a new logo and then before
- 2:24you know, it you're designing, another new logo, and another
- 2:26new business card and adding Nothing else and changing your
- 2:28website. And that's just a minor thing.
- 2:31Getting new furniture, redoing your house.
- 2:33It's all part of that same thing.
- 2:35But those creative juices that I'm talking about.
- 2:38Those are really essential. And those ideas that I'm talking
- 2:42about have to be captured somewhere because if you don't
- 2:45put them somewhere one it stresses you out to keep them
- 2:49all in your head and it causes anxiety to think.
- 2:52Oh, there's so many things I want to do and I just am not
- 2:55getting them done. So, Add that to your daily
- 2:58functional to do list. And before you know it you're
- 3:00about ready to have a breakdown over, what?
- 3:02You can't get done and it's supposed to be fun but using a
- 3:06parking lot putting them into this.
- 3:08So simply it's a notebook. For me.
- 3:10It's a notebook that is labeled the parking lot and I just write
- 3:15down random ideas in there without filter.
- 3:19That is the key to the whole thing.
- 3:20It's without filter, not having anything.
- 3:24You know, allowing myself to be critical of it.
- 3:27Just put it in there. Typically what I do is I capture
- 3:30them throughout the month and then at the end of the month I
- 3:32sit down and I go through all the ideas that I had.
- 3:35And I say hmm, okay, I still like this one and some of them I
- 3:38look and I say what the hell was I thinking when I wrote this
- 3:42down but a lot of times I go, wow, that was actually really
- 3:45good, you know. This podcast was something that
- 3:48went into the parking lot and then you know, came to fruition
- 3:51when I went back and looked at it was like oh that's a pretty
- 3:54darn good idea. So the s Essence of it is doing
- 3:58this without judgment, which is extremely hard for us because we
- 4:03judge everything all the time. So it's incredibly important
- 4:08that you do it without judgement that you actually work on doing
- 4:12this and replace of neutrality acceptance.
- 4:15And just saying, hey, I'm brainstorming.
- 4:17That's what I'm doing. I'm just simply brainstorming
- 4:20and when you write it down you can actually like I like to make
- 4:24Little Mark's next to the ones that I feel completely.
- 4:27Inspired by in the moment, the ones that like I'll even get
- 4:30little stickers to myself sometimes.
- 4:32But a little gold strikes to ones that I particularly find
- 4:34interesting in the moment and sometimes I'll even write down
- 4:38in there at like where I was when I thought of it so that I
- 4:41can remember the energy I was in and feel that same state being
- 4:47in vagrant, you know, filled with that just excitement about
- 4:51it. So however you want to do it.
- 4:53It's fine. I have a lot of people who will
- 4:55sketch and do it with sketches. You can Mind Math in this book,
- 4:59it doesn't matter. It's just a place of neutrality
- 5:03for all your excitement and creativity to reside until
- 5:07you're ready to do it. So whatever works for you, set
- 5:11up a notebook, start capturing it, and watch how it transforms
- 5:16you and don't wait until the end of the year to go through it.
- 5:18I mean seriously do it like every month, where you go
- 5:21through it and you look at your ideas and you say, OK, this is
- 5:23fantastic because sometimes we start things and then they don't
- 5:26feel right? We have to get Get rid of them.
- 5:28And that's totally okay, that's called being human.
- 5:31So except your humanness, get a Creative Juice, going in your
- 5:35head and run out and get yourself a parking lot notebook,
- 5:38and start capturing. All right, my friends.
- 5:40I hope you have a great day and I'll see you tomorrow.
- 5:42Bye.
