- 0:02Speaker 1: Minnesota Vikings fans, Welcome back to the Purple People Leaders Podcast.
- 0:07Speaker 1: He's Aaron, I'm Chris, and we're here to discuss a
- 0:11Speaker 1: couple things. One was a loss on our European residency.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Not a good one. They jumped out early. We tried
- 0:21Speaker 1: to make a comeback and more injuries happened. Tell me
- 0:25Speaker 1: if you've heard this one before, now you know the
- 0:29Speaker 1: back to back euro stuff. It was. It's weird, of course,
- 0:35Speaker 1: but the biggest thing was the buye right, and that's
- 0:38Speaker 1: on paper, that's before the season starts. And if I
- 0:41Speaker 1: didn't if we didn't think that way, that means we'd
- 0:45Speaker 1: have a lot of injuries. So we don't want to
- 0:47Speaker 1: think that there's just automatically going to be a lot
- 0:49Speaker 1: of injuries. However, Okay, we have new data. The data
- 0:55Speaker 1: says that we have a lot of injuries. So there,
- 1:01Speaker 1: this guy's gonna come in handy. It's gonna come in handy.
- 1:04Speaker 1: We might need to make a trade. We got semi
- 1:07Speaker 1: good news on Brian O'Neill. He's not done for the season,
- 1:13Speaker 1: but he's gonna be out. We'll talk all about it.
- 1:15Speaker 1: The offensive line's having issues. Quarterback won't get rid of
- 1:19Speaker 1: the ball. Things are happening, and not in a positive way.
- 1:23Speaker 1: We're two and two. We're gonna break it down. Then,
- 1:26Speaker 1: of course preview the second euro game against Cleveland, and
- 1:33Speaker 1: we were just talking about a certain defensive end that
- 1:38Speaker 1: has to be just loving it. He can go to
- 1:40Speaker 1: the pubs this week. I mean, he could just hang out.
- 1:43Speaker 1: He knows what he's gonna face anyway. So we're gonna preview, win,
- 1:47Speaker 1: predict that game against Cleveland. Really at this point, considering
- 1:51Speaker 1: what we have after the buy, definitely must win. And
- 1:55Speaker 1: then per usual, we always end with talking Gopher football.
- 2:00Speaker 1: They got themselves a big win and we got ourselves quarterback.
- 2:05Speaker 1: We just hope we can hold on to them the
- 2:07Speaker 1: next couple of years. If this is your first time
- 2:10Speaker 1: listening to the Purple People Eaters podcast, welcome. You can
- 2:13Speaker 1: find it in a variety of ways under rope it
- 2:15Speaker 1: op Radio, on Apple podcast, iHeartRadio, Google Podcasts, Amazon Music.
- 2:20Speaker 1: We do have it's also on Spotify. We have a
- 2:25Speaker 1: Sprinker page Purple People Eaters. Check it out there and
- 2:29Speaker 1: we're trying to get it back on the Grueling Truth.
- 2:33Speaker 1: We will see if we can get it back there,
- 2:35Speaker 1: but either way, head on over to the gruelingtouth dot com.
- 2:37Speaker 1: It's Sports News twenty four one more thing from Direct TV.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Streaming starts at forty nine ninety nine for the first month.
- 2:46Speaker 1: You do have a five day free trial to check
- 2:49Speaker 1: it out. The Entertainment Package starts at forty nine ninety
- 2:52Speaker 1: nine the first month. That includes ESPN and fs ME one.
- 2:55Speaker 1: That fifty four to ninety nine Choice package also includes
- 2:59Speaker 1: the ESPN, but you get the SEC Network, the NFL
- 3:02Speaker 1: Network fan duel. That'll be for a month and then
- 3:06Speaker 1: it changes a little bit. But then you can also
- 3:08Speaker 1: go to the Ultimate Package that includes everything I just
- 3:10Speaker 1: said and also over one hundred and sixty channels eighty
- 3:13Speaker 1: four ninety nine a month for the first month. Okay,
- 3:21Speaker 1: let's get into this.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Man.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Aaron got down early and never could quite climb back.
- 3:32Speaker 2: You know. Yeah, that was a tough one to watch,
- 3:36Speaker 2: just because it didn't start off well and you're, you know,
- 3:42Speaker 2: you're in Europe, Aaron Rodgers and all that good stuff.
- 3:45Speaker 2: But man, you know, the more things change sometimes the
- 3:47Speaker 2: more they stay the same week. You know, Harp on
- 3:51Speaker 2: the offensive line for about seven years now, and right
- 3:58Speaker 2: when you think you got it going, they start dropping
- 4:00Speaker 2: like flies. You know, we miss Darris offt for teks
- 4:03Speaker 2: to start off the season, and then the rookie gets hurt,
- 4:07Speaker 2: and then Brian Kelly, which we thought was really great signing,
- 4:12Speaker 2: is in on this third or second concussion of the year.
- 4:17Speaker 2: It hasn't really seen a lot of the field. It
- 4:19Speaker 2: talked a little bit about it last week. It's just like, man,
- 4:21Speaker 2: you know, God, we signed him for two years, so
- 4:24Speaker 2: it's not the end of the world. But get used
- 4:26Speaker 2: to Michael Jurgens because you're gonna see a lot of him,
- 4:29Speaker 2: I think throughout the course of this season. Justin's school man.
- 4:35Speaker 2: This guy's an adventure to say the least, and he's
- 4:37Speaker 2: been kind of ear marked for most of his career
- 4:40Speaker 2: as kind of a turnstile. So that was an interesting
- 4:44Speaker 2: signing when we look back. Okay, but we thought that
- 4:47Speaker 2: would just be depth because O'Neill has always been fairly healthy.
- 4:52Speaker 2: He's had you know, he gets nicked up during a season,
- 4:54Speaker 2: miss a game or two. But yeah, we got some
- 4:57Speaker 2: decent news. I guess it's a spraying and not a
- 5:00Speaker 2: a tear, so he'll be back six to eight, four
- 5:03Speaker 2: to six. We don't really know when he's coming back.
- 5:06Speaker 2: So right now the offensive line is in shambles and
- 5:08Speaker 2: they haven't played together all season, and you know, if
- 5:12Speaker 2: it's not the coaching, which I ran it about a
- 5:15Speaker 2: week before last, then it's something else. And right now
- 5:18Speaker 2: it's just depleted and makes you kind of long for
- 5:22Speaker 2: the days of Bradbury and Ingram. And you never thought
- 5:27Speaker 2: you would. You never thought you would. I mean I
- 5:32Speaker 2: was fine seeing Bradbury walk out the door.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I kept him in the ass when
- 5:37Speaker 1: he went out the door.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Ah, and you know, and then he's starting for whoever
- 5:42Speaker 2: he's playing for now. But yeah, so it's been a
- 5:46Speaker 2: war of attrition. And then you think about it, Chris,
- 5:48Speaker 2: you go back, man, the last really decent iteration of
- 5:53Speaker 2: our offensive line and it wasn't great, but it was
- 5:55Speaker 2: better was with Spirano and then Sperano died. So true,
- 5:59Speaker 2: you know what's going on here? Who knows, but you know,
- 6:03Speaker 2: Carson got beeed up a little bit. There's a lot
- 6:06Speaker 2: to talk about when it comes offensive line and offense,
- 6:11Speaker 2: but it's not looking good. The only real bright spot
- 6:13Speaker 2: is Jordan Mason.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, he looked good at times in the game.
- 6:20Speaker 1: It's just seems like he's always going forward. He can
- 6:25Speaker 1: break tackles, he can juke you. I'm really excited about
- 6:29Speaker 1: this kid. Man. He's in his prime. He's like twenty five.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Hell of a player. I really like him. You're right,
- 6:36Speaker 1: it's very very positive on that note. And it's kind
- 6:41Speaker 1: of cool that he it's not great that Jones is injured,
- 6:45Speaker 1: but it does give him more touches. So and we'll
- 6:48Speaker 1: need that over the next couple a couple of years,
- 6:52Speaker 1: you know, under contract and whatnot. You know, it's just, uh,
- 7:00Speaker 1: Rogers didn't put up some kind of crazy stats, but
- 7:06Speaker 1: he just got the ball where it needed to be,
- 7:09Speaker 1: got rid of the ball. They ran the ball really well.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Again on us, it's kind of like every other week,
- 7:15Speaker 1: h it seems like right now. But a lot of
- 7:20Speaker 1: it comes back to the offense too at some point,
- 7:22Speaker 1: you know, where you're just like, dude, we got we
- 7:24Speaker 1: gotta take advantage and stuff. They did have a nice
- 7:27Speaker 1: drive eleven play drive to start out, and uh got
- 7:32Speaker 1: you know, settled for a field goal. It was third
- 7:36Speaker 1: and nine and Whence didn't see jj open. Uh he's
- 7:43Speaker 1: on the team, good old Jefferson Jetta. I suppose, well
- 7:47Speaker 1: McCarthy's not on the in the starting lineup right now,
- 7:50Speaker 1: so I think we can go back to calling him JJ.
- 7:53Speaker 1: But it was like, okay, they had a nice drive though,
- 7:56Speaker 1: they definitely had a nice drive, and then then you
- 7:58Speaker 1: know they returned the favor and it's seven to three,
- 8:01Speaker 1: and you know that's where it kind of was starting
- 8:05Speaker 1: to fall apart. Five place punt. You know, we had
- 8:11Speaker 1: a decent ten play drive, going interception, ended up blocking
- 8:15Speaker 1: a field goal after they had a twelve play freaking drive.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Did manage to, you know, kick a field goal another
- 8:23Speaker 1: guy open, I think it was Jefferson again, wide open
- 8:29Speaker 1: on a. I think it was like on A. I
- 8:32Speaker 1: can't even remember who. It doesn't really matter, it doesn't,
- 8:35Speaker 1: but that one play eighty yards the metcalf gets them
- 8:41Speaker 1: up fourteen to three. It's fourteen to six a half.
- 8:45Speaker 1: You know, it seemed like either Rogers or Pace screwed up.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Rogers made contact with him, but he kind of pushed
- 8:55Speaker 1: them along into what he perceived as a zone as
- 9:00Speaker 1: he went and covered his little area, and whether it
- 9:02Speaker 1: was a tight end or halfback came out and Rogers
- 9:06Speaker 1: had him, he would have had him just fine, but
- 9:09Speaker 1: Pace jumped on that half you know, whatever, it was.
- 9:15Speaker 1: I think it was a tight end, but h back,
- 9:18Speaker 1: I don't know, but either way, both of them went
- 9:20Speaker 1: to that guy and it was like, well, that's definitely
- 9:23Speaker 1: not designed to do that. And you know before we
- 9:28Speaker 1: hit record, you did mention you know how they moved
- 9:32Speaker 1: Wilson there too, But when you have two guys in
- 9:36Speaker 1: that area, pace could have still put a hand on
- 9:39Speaker 1: him within five yards. You just can't let that happen.
- 9:44Speaker 1: And so that was some form of miscommunication. I'm not
- 9:47Speaker 1: going to act like I know exactly whose fault it was.
- 9:52Speaker 1: I really don't know. But either way, what I do
- 9:55Speaker 1: know is it was eighty yards. It started out, you know,
- 10:00Speaker 1: we're up fourteen to six, a couple of punts and
- 10:03Speaker 1: then we got a good drive man and it was
- 10:06Speaker 1: eleven play and in an interception they added a touchdown.
- 10:09Speaker 1: It's twenty one to six, and you're just thinking, and
- 10:13Speaker 1: like I said, multiple times, he's missing Addison or he's
- 10:18Speaker 1: pumped faking to TJ and he's going to try to
- 10:23Speaker 1: juke somebody. You can't have Jefferson two or three times
- 10:26Speaker 1: open for Maybe it's only a short game, but it's
- 10:29Speaker 1: a game we'll talk about, you know, how much pressure
- 10:34Speaker 1: was coming. Of course, a lot of pressure was coming.
- 10:36Speaker 1: But when you at the end of the day, Aaron,
- 10:38Speaker 1: when you look at the statistics of stats, you know,
- 10:42Speaker 1: for sacks and all that, some of those sacks and
- 10:49Speaker 1: hits were on him. He's holding the ball too much.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Maybe maybe he you know, when he does have time,
- 10:56Speaker 1: he wants to really make it count. But there's just
- 10:59Speaker 1: too many times were I mean, that pump fake to
- 11:03Speaker 1: TJ and he acted like he was going to do
- 11:06Speaker 1: something and juked some guy out. And I'm not even
- 11:09Speaker 1: saying that would have been a big pickup or something.
- 11:11Speaker 1: But you gotta know when you have this much pressure,
- 11:14Speaker 1: and like you said, we've been seeing pressure since twenty eighteen.
- 11:18Speaker 1: It's it's a lot of pressure. But sometimes it's on
- 11:21Speaker 1: the quarterback. Sometimes it's on the offensive line. A lot
- 11:24Speaker 1: of time it has been on the interior off the line,
- 11:27Speaker 1: you know, throughout the years. But you gotta get rid
- 11:31Speaker 1: of it. Put it in the dirt or something.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree. I also think you know now that
- 11:37Speaker 2: you mention it, the last maybe three quarterbacks, even when
- 11:44Speaker 2: Cousins was injured, they all annoyed us by holding the
- 11:49Speaker 2: ball too long. Yes, and so maybe there's something about
- 11:53Speaker 2: the offense or or KOC or something that's it's doing that.
- 11:57Speaker 2: And also our other annoyance is getting the damn play,
- 12:00Speaker 2: get the play call in and getting the playoff.
- 12:04Speaker 1: That was an issue too.
- 12:05Speaker 2: You're right that seems to be raising it's ugly head again.
- 12:09Speaker 2: But yeah, as far as Wentz, he's looking for the
- 12:12Speaker 2: perfect play. And we talked a fair about this too.
- 12:15Speaker 2: It is like this guy's thirty some years old, been
- 12:17Speaker 2: in the league at least eight years. It should be
- 12:21Speaker 2: seasoned and whether know how to avoid a sack or
- 12:24Speaker 2: how to throw the ball away or throw it in
- 12:26Speaker 2: the dirt or do what you have to do to
- 12:28Speaker 2: avoid sacks. Now, like you mentioned, there was an awful
- 12:32Speaker 2: lot of pressure. It was coming from a lot of
- 12:33Speaker 2: different places. You know, some of that's offensive line, and
- 12:38Speaker 2: I'd say with all the injuries, probably a lot of
- 12:40Speaker 2: that's offensive line. But yeah, that's gonna more and more.
- 12:43Speaker 2: There were six sacks totals, so let's give the offensive
- 12:46Speaker 2: line four. There's two that Wentz could have avoided at
- 12:49Speaker 2: least with a smart player or not thinking that he
- 12:53Speaker 2: can run like he's twenty two. Again, you know, I
- 12:57Speaker 2: thought overall, his performance for the day wasn't great. His
- 13:02Speaker 2: stats are pretty good some of the two picks, but
- 13:05Speaker 2: he was missing guys, like you said, And you know,
- 13:08Speaker 2: I think just trying to play hero ball a little
- 13:10Speaker 2: too much and not just taking a check down or
- 13:14Speaker 2: or throwing it away or doing something like that. And
- 13:18Speaker 2: you know, I thought the running game was decent. When
- 13:20Speaker 2: you gave Mason and Scott a chance. Scott's really turned
- 13:24Speaker 2: into play. Yeah, I mean, he's can catch it. He's
- 13:28Speaker 2: kind of like a young Aaron Jones knock on Wood
- 13:33Speaker 2: as far as like what his role can be. A
- 13:35Speaker 2: few carries a lot of stuff out of the backfield
- 13:39Speaker 2: and things like that. Kept our boy off the field,
- 13:43Speaker 2: the guy that keeps coming back every year, Cam Akers, right, Yeah,
- 13:51Speaker 2: there are issues with with the offensive line, Chris. That
- 13:54Speaker 2: just at this point, you know, even if you do
- 14:00Speaker 2: think Wentz is not great, you almost want to see
- 14:04Speaker 2: him play because you don't want to expose McCarthy to
- 14:07Speaker 2: this until you have at least four of the five
- 14:10Speaker 2: guys back or or two tackles, and then you know,
- 14:14Speaker 2: some mixed match in the middle. I would hate to
- 14:18Speaker 2: see McCarthy playing in this next game with Miles Garrett
- 14:22Speaker 2: on the other side, or what's gonna happen in Philadelphia?
- 14:27Speaker 2: You know, yeah, I mean, you've got to get this
- 14:30Speaker 2: line figured out. Whether that's crazy making a deal for
- 14:33Speaker 2: a tackle, it'd be tough to do. But we don't
- 14:36Speaker 2: know O'Neill's situation. But you started the third quarter in
- 14:39Speaker 2: the first news you got was Kelly's out, O'Neill's out.
- 14:43Speaker 2: You get a sack, you're three and out, and you punt,
- 14:46Speaker 2: and that's just happening way too much. You know, this season,
- 14:51Speaker 2: we've got to be close to the record in three
- 14:53Speaker 2: and outs under koc because I just don't remember that
- 14:57Speaker 2: many three and outs with c with Donald, with Dobbs,
- 15:04Speaker 2: with with all these guys. That seems to be something
- 15:08Speaker 2: that's happening a lot this year, and it's usually from
- 15:10Speaker 2: pressure and sacks. So that's a big that's a big deal.
- 15:13Speaker 2: You get Addison back, he makes some plays, you know,
- 15:17Speaker 2: did what Addison does. And really seem like they opened
- 15:20Speaker 2: the game by getting Jefferson the ball quite a bit
- 15:22Speaker 2: and that seemed to help a bit, Wentz to get
- 15:26Speaker 2: rid of the ball, but then that bog down too
- 15:29Speaker 2: and I guess at this point I would just say
- 15:31Speaker 2: run the ball with Mason because he seems to be
- 15:33Speaker 2: the brightest spot you got and maybe do a little
- 15:35Speaker 2: work with Scott with some screens and some you know,
- 15:39Speaker 2: checkdowns in the flat and we'll work it that way.
- 15:42Speaker 2: But you know, or remove the pocket for wins. There's
- 15:45Speaker 2: a lot of options. But if you notice in Koc
- 15:47Speaker 2: and his history, he's not to move the pocket guy.
- 15:49Speaker 2: He he'll do it occasionally, Yeah, but you know, if
- 15:53Speaker 2: you look at all his quarterbacks, there's not a lot
- 15:55Speaker 2: of move in the pocket for guys. So he's pretty
- 15:58Speaker 2: staunched to assist him. Kind of like Den you know,
- 16:00Speaker 2: believed in his system and.
- 16:03Speaker 1: He wants you know, he wants to coach Nan, let
- 16:05Speaker 1: him coach the team. Yeah.
- 16:07Speaker 2: I think KOs might be one of them system guys
- 16:10Speaker 2: as well.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Yeah, and you know, like the old line is in
- 16:16Speaker 1: shatters and a lot of it is now injury, you know,
- 16:20Speaker 1: Brandle and you know, I think he'll be okay replacing
- 16:25Speaker 1: the rookie, like you said, you know, the backup center.
- 16:30Speaker 1: I think he'll be okay, but there is going to
- 16:33Speaker 1: be an issue on the right tackle. We've seen the
- 16:35Speaker 1: guy play. He's not good. Jurgens should be okay, though
- 16:40Speaker 1: those should be okay and maybe we will be able
- 16:43Speaker 1: to run with those guys, but the right tackle so
- 16:47Speaker 1: that's going to be an issue. But yeah, I mean
- 16:50Speaker 1: there's tons of blitzes and and you know, sometimes you
- 16:57Speaker 1: gotta play called in in there's not really a dump
- 17:01Speaker 1: off right or whatever short plays and it needs time
- 17:05Speaker 1: and they just have a perfect blitz and that happens.
- 17:08Speaker 1: You know. Now there has been complaints on where are
- 17:13Speaker 1: more short routes, and I think some of that is warranted.
- 17:18Speaker 1: I think we do have to kind of blend into
- 17:20Speaker 1: the West Coast short passes. You made a good point
- 17:22Speaker 1: at how we got Jefferson involved early. Wasn't all twenty
- 17:26Speaker 1: and thirty yard passes or nothing, So I think it's
- 17:31Speaker 1: it's somewhere in between when it comes to that. I
- 17:33Speaker 1: do think there could be more short passing. But will
- 17:36Speaker 1: he take him for sure? You know, we don't know,
- 17:38Speaker 1: because I think people forget that. Like I mentioned, like
- 17:44Speaker 1: there were multiple times, like there was a play where
- 17:48Speaker 1: Ramsey had his hamstring hurt because memory faked it at
- 17:53Speaker 1: the start and celebrated, which that's ongoing, but then he
- 17:57Speaker 1: did an Addison had him beat for a touchdown. Didn't
- 18:00Speaker 1: see him. He threw a jump ball what probably should
- 18:05Speaker 1: have been a jump ball, but you gotta if you're
- 18:07Speaker 1: gonna throw a jump ball, you gotta throw it correctly.
- 18:11Speaker 1: He overthrew it. There was a couple of deep balls
- 18:13Speaker 1: he overthrew. Uh. There was a play by TJ. Now
- 18:17Speaker 1: Jefferson probably would have scored when he slipped. Addison had
- 18:21Speaker 1: some footing problem too. He got caught on that eighty
- 18:24Speaker 1: one yard catch. But TJ could have got out, got
- 18:29Speaker 1: out of got out of bounce and if you just
- 18:33Speaker 1: lead him and not throw it behind him. So he
- 18:36Speaker 1: was inaccurate. And I get, like I said, some of
- 18:38Speaker 1: this is on the old line, no doubt about it.
- 18:40Speaker 1: In another thing, the pre snap penalties they need to
- 18:45Speaker 1: be cleaned up really really bad. There. We're pretty bad
- 18:49Speaker 1: on third down right now. But that doesn't help either, right,
- 18:53Speaker 1: and that's not all on you know whence either. So
- 18:58Speaker 1: I want to say, like there's a lot of pressure.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Maybe there could be more West Coast vibe where you
- 19:04Speaker 1: get a little five yard dump offfs, but there were
- 19:09Speaker 1: also plays to be had. And I keep bringing it up,
- 19:13Speaker 1: but that pump fake the TJ is like, dude, what
- 19:15Speaker 1: this isn't North Dakota just stop. So he when you
- 19:19Speaker 1: look at his numbers, he could have had four hundred
- 19:22Speaker 1: yards yesterday. And so you know, I think Maggie put
- 19:27Speaker 1: on a stat that right now we're like one of
- 19:30Speaker 1: the worst all time for sack percentage. Right now, we're
- 19:35Speaker 1: four games in, So let's see how that holds up.
- 19:37Speaker 1: The next couple of games are gonna be bad. We
- 19:39Speaker 1: know that, but let's not act like if you're gonna
- 19:43Speaker 1: blame because they blame Cousins for checking down one, throwing
- 19:47Speaker 1: the ball away too and not being mobile enough. But
- 19:51Speaker 1: the thing about Cousins, he knew what he was though,
- 19:54Speaker 1: and so he wasn't gonna try to do some shit
- 19:58Speaker 1: he can't do. And and and that's where it's like, dude, you
- 20:03Speaker 1: have like some of those sacks are definitely on him,
- 20:06Speaker 1: and it's it's it's just blatantly obvious. So it is
- 20:12Speaker 1: a combination. It's not all just the line because like
- 20:15Speaker 1: I said, we we've had a bad line in Tier
- 20:18Speaker 1: for so long. So but the priest snat penalties, that's discipline,
- 20:23Speaker 1: that's on the players, that's on the coach and rightfully
- 20:27Speaker 1: so at the end of the year, like you said,
- 20:31Speaker 1: we probably should go a different direction with the offensive
- 20:36Speaker 1: line coach. There's just no way around it, you know.
- 20:40Speaker 1: I just I don't know, but yeah, maybe run the
- 20:44Speaker 1: ball more. Like you said, the clock issues down the stretch,
- 20:47Speaker 1: I don't care if you had to bend your neck
- 20:49Speaker 1: to see it. There's no excuse for that. When he
- 20:53Speaker 1: you know, he got a penalty because he held the
- 20:55Speaker 1: ball too long. Could had time to throw it away.
- 20:59Speaker 1: And like, I can't play quarterback. No one can really
- 21:02Speaker 1: play quarterback beyond the people that are in the league. Okay,
- 21:05Speaker 1: so we're not trying to be like over the top,
- 21:07Speaker 1: but there's just things that are real basic and like
- 21:10Speaker 1: you said, with the age, it's like you've got to
- 21:14Speaker 1: know this, dude. But yeah, the clock issues at the
- 21:17Speaker 1: end was just like are you serious? But the priest
- 21:20Speaker 1: thatt pedalties. Man, they're piling up considering we've only played.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Four games, right, and some of that's like just new
- 21:26Speaker 2: offensive line members and so on. You can kind of
- 21:28Speaker 2: couch that, but we're like, again, we're in week four,
- 21:31Speaker 2: here are going into week five. That's got to get
- 21:35Speaker 2: cleaned up. I liked your point about, you know, Wentz
- 21:42Speaker 2: just being inaccurate. I think that's that's a valid point.
- 21:49Speaker 2: The Hockinson catch or throw where he flailed out of bounds,
- 21:55Speaker 2: it sticks out to me. And then missing guys too,
- 21:58Speaker 2: and that was a darnal thing too, where you miss guys. Uh,
- 22:02Speaker 2: I remember that in the Detroit game or and stuff.
- 22:04Speaker 2: There's just like it's a lot of recurring things here,
- 22:07Speaker 2: and you know he's training up McCarthy. I get that,
- 22:13Speaker 2: so maybe you know it takes a little bit of time.
- 22:16Speaker 2: You know, he had cousins for what two seasons, three
- 22:18Speaker 2: seasons something like.
- 22:18Speaker 1: That seasons, Yeah, because he got her developed.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Developed into that and into like maybe not missing as
- 22:29Speaker 2: many or knowing what to look for and what to see.
- 22:31Speaker 2: And you know, I'm not sure and.
- 22:33Speaker 1: We're not asking McCarthy to do that. You know, like
- 22:37Speaker 1: a what a three four year starter, So he was
- 22:39Speaker 1: he was a vet, you know. Yeah.
- 22:42Speaker 2: And Wentz he's been sitting up behind a lot of
- 22:44Speaker 2: guys for a few years. I supposed to learn. But
- 22:47Speaker 2: you know, I didn't expect Wentz to be besides the
- 22:50Speaker 2: sarcasm and you know, saying that he's gonna come and
- 22:53Speaker 2: lead at NFC Championship game. You know, I didn't expect
- 22:57Speaker 2: him to be uh pro bowler. I just expected him
- 23:03Speaker 2: to be serviceable. I think he has been to the
- 23:08Speaker 2: most for the most part, and he's been getting a
- 23:12Speaker 2: lot of pressure and so on. I'm not trying to
- 23:14Speaker 2: make excuses for the guy I don't want to.
- 23:17Speaker 1: See wasn't even there at the beginning of the camp.
- 23:20Speaker 2: You know, I'd much rather see McCarthy in there taking
- 23:23Speaker 2: his lumps than what Carson Wentz is doing. And I
- 23:28Speaker 2: think all the listeners are aware of that, but you know,
- 23:32Speaker 2: it is what it is. I thought that, you know,
- 23:36Speaker 2: a buy couldn't come any sooner, really, I mean, we've
- 23:39Speaker 2: got to get the rookie back at the guard position.
- 23:42Speaker 2: We got to figure out what's going on with Kelly,
- 23:45Speaker 2: whether it's even worth to play him at this point
- 23:48Speaker 2: with his concussion issues. Got to figure out what's going
- 23:52Speaker 2: on left tackle. We looked and we couldn't see if
- 23:54Speaker 2: Rause was hurt or not to maybe play that right
- 23:56Speaker 2: tackle because we know School's not gonna do it. And
- 23:59Speaker 2: and for whatever he is, seems to be holding up
- 24:04Speaker 2: fairly well. And I think you just got to get
- 24:05Speaker 2: used to Jurggens in the middle and if these guys
- 24:07Speaker 2: whatever iteration of this line it is going to be
- 24:11Speaker 2: going forward needs to become that line and stay healthy,
- 24:16Speaker 2: and then I think you could actually make some offensive progress.
- 24:19Speaker 2: But until then in your patchwork and you know, you're
- 24:21Speaker 2: not really building any continuity with these guys. It's gonna
- 24:27Speaker 2: be a tough sledding offensively. And if at least if
- 24:31Speaker 2: you have darrisaw on the rookie you can run behind them.
- 24:34Speaker 2: They prove they can run pretty well behind them, and that's,
- 24:37Speaker 2: you know, something good leaner to hang your hat on.
- 24:40Speaker 2: But yeah, offensively, it's gonna be kind of a slugfest.
- 24:43Speaker 2: This is where KOs needs to be creative and be
- 24:46Speaker 2: flexible in his offense to cater it to the quarterback
- 24:50Speaker 2: he has ieed offensive line he has and I'm not
- 24:53Speaker 2: saying quick game the whole game. You can't do that,
- 24:56Speaker 2: but you can do no huddle for a series or two.
- 24:58Speaker 2: You can do some things to kind of throw a
- 25:01Speaker 2: defense off balance that you might have to get into
- 25:04Speaker 2: with Wentz or McCarthy. At this point, you know, McCarthy's
- 25:08Speaker 2: definitely out for the Browns game. And then we hit
- 25:11Speaker 2: the buye and then we're into a real tough stretch
- 25:15Speaker 2: of the season, and these things like pre snap penalties,
- 25:19Speaker 2: clock issues, offensive line incontinuity, quarterback questions. You'd like to
- 25:26Speaker 2: have all of that figured out coming out of the
- 25:29Speaker 2: bye Chris, And I'm sure during our bye show we'll
- 25:32Speaker 2: have a list of things that need to happen. But
- 25:35Speaker 2: you know, offensively, you're gonna have problems without this offensive line. Now,
- 25:41Speaker 2: let's talk about run defense, Chris, because we're giving out
- 25:44Speaker 2: more yards here than we ever have under our voy
- 25:47Speaker 2: Brian Flores. And you can say all you want that
- 25:51Speaker 2: it's Cashman's out and make an excuse, but we thought
- 25:54Speaker 2: Wilson's been filling in decently well. But we're kind of
- 25:59Speaker 2: going back to that defense we had without Cashman last
- 26:03Speaker 2: year where you could run the ball and they're a
- 26:07Speaker 2: little suspect in the middle where the linebackers are for passes,
- 26:12Speaker 2: and that's really what Rogers did. It was these short
- 26:14Speaker 2: passes in those sections and that's enough to win a game,
- 26:18Speaker 2: as we saw on Sunday. Defensive line, it's better, I
- 26:24Speaker 2: think for pass rush, but I don't see a big
- 26:27Speaker 2: improvement against the run to date anyway, and the secondary
- 26:33Speaker 2: is not getting really tested because they're able to run
- 26:35Speaker 2: the ball, so they're not gonna throw it if they
- 26:38Speaker 2: can run it. So yeah, I mean there are some
- 26:42Speaker 2: for the first time, I think since Flores has been
- 26:44Speaker 2: here without any excuses, there's some some serious defensive questions
- 26:48Speaker 2: at the moment.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right, and it's been every other week, you
- 26:53Speaker 1: know the I mean, obviously Atlanta ran it all over us.
- 26:57Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean you had twenty nine carries buck
- 27:03Speaker 1: thirty one at a four point five clip, and to
- 27:07Speaker 1: your point further, eleven runs for a first down, so
- 27:13Speaker 1: we had more first downs than them. A lot of
- 27:16Speaker 1: that stuff was late fifteen passing, only six rushing, whereas
- 27:21Speaker 1: they only had six passing. Sure, but eleven first down
- 27:25Speaker 1: runs is not gonna get it done. And you're right,
- 27:30Speaker 1: like Redmans, Yeah, I love the way he sacks the
- 27:33Speaker 1: quarterback and kind of ragsed all the guy. And but yeah,
- 27:36Speaker 1: I mean it's two out of the four weeks where
- 27:42Speaker 1: you can say, well, they kept us in the game.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Sure they did, but besides that, something happened on that
- 27:48Speaker 1: Medcalf play. They did, but they also were able to run,
- 27:53Speaker 1: and you can't can't give up eleven first downs. That's
- 27:57Speaker 1: just too many to the ball because, like you said,
- 28:02Speaker 1: you're not going to test the secondary too much and
- 28:05Speaker 1: right now, because two out of those four games were
- 28:09Speaker 1: giving up a buck thirty on the ground, So that
- 28:12Speaker 1: isn't good and it does need to be addressed, no
- 28:17Speaker 1: doubt about it. It has to be. And you know,
- 28:20Speaker 1: when you're playing with a healthy lead, you're going to
- 28:23Speaker 1: lead into that, but also like you know they're going
- 28:27Speaker 1: to lean into it, so you got to stop it.
- 28:29Speaker 1: So sometimes it's poor tackling. Sometimes it's not just the
- 28:33Speaker 1: defensive line. And yeah, sure for those chunk of weeks,
- 28:37Speaker 1: you're right, it does kind of feel like last year,
- 28:42Speaker 1: you know, without the guy who makes those shirt tackles.
- 28:46Speaker 1: But you know, we did beef up the inside. So
- 28:50Speaker 1: I think he made a good point about the you know,
- 28:52Speaker 1: and not that he's some great run stopper. But I
- 28:57Speaker 1: wasn't thinking Van Ginkel was gonna be out. That was
- 29:01Speaker 1: kind of like, wait, his next still messed up? Did
- 29:04Speaker 1: the flight mess you know how when you get on
- 29:05Speaker 1: a plane and stuff gets swollen up or whatever. He
- 29:09Speaker 1: may not play again. He might play, he may not
- 29:11Speaker 1: all of a sudden, wait, Ben giggles not, I think
- 29:14Speaker 1: he only played what nine? I thought he only played
- 29:16Speaker 1: like nine snaps because we were kicking their ass last week.
- 29:20Speaker 1: But but I guess not so that those are two
- 29:25Speaker 1: guys that are very aggressive and could make those kind
- 29:28Speaker 1: of almost like blitz runs, like we're blitzing, but I'm
- 29:32Speaker 1: gonna clear up the run. But it has to get better,
- 29:34Speaker 1: There's no doubt about that, because if you give up
- 29:37Speaker 1: the run like that, that's gonna be tough. That's gonna
- 29:41Speaker 1: be very tough. So that's a good point. It needs
- 29:44Speaker 1: to tighten up.
- 29:47Speaker 2: And we got the big nasties, Chris. So it's like
- 29:49Speaker 2: you want to see something or see some return in
- 29:52Speaker 2: your vestment, on your investment in short yardage. And yes,
- 29:56Speaker 2: I have seen a huge improvement on stopping in short
- 30:01Speaker 2: yardage situations, especially on Sunday. Like you said, eleven first
- 30:05Speaker 2: downs running a lot, Man, they didn't.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Have that many, you know, like that's way too many back.
- 30:16Speaker 2: Breakers, man, simple like quarterback sneaks and things like that
- 30:20Speaker 2: that you think, oh, you can at least get under them,
- 30:22Speaker 2: or at least you know, show some kind of leverage
- 30:29Speaker 2: against them, you know, against it. It just doesn't seem
- 30:32Speaker 2: that way. And maybe with rotation you're getting stuck with
- 30:35Speaker 2: some different guys, but you know, Jonathan Allen's brought here
- 30:37Speaker 2: to be a bit of a run stuff for as
- 30:40Speaker 2: far as size goes. So that's maybe a work in progress,
- 30:44Speaker 2: and we'll cut a little slack. Like I said, we're
- 30:46Speaker 2: a quarter of the way through the season, but that's
- 30:49Speaker 2: got improved too, because you can't just be giving up
- 30:51Speaker 2: runs like that. Defense on the defensive side of the ball,
- 30:55Speaker 2: and you know, a lot of it is a lot
- 30:59Speaker 2: of these things, Chris are like, you know, we've seen
- 31:03Speaker 2: little inklings of these problems throughout the years, and they
- 31:09Speaker 2: all kind of just kind of coalesced in this one
- 31:12Speaker 2: season where you've got massive injury concerns. We were relatively
- 31:15Speaker 2: healthy the last two years, especially last year. Man. Yeah,
- 31:21Speaker 2: defense problems that you know, kind of on Zimmer's decline,
- 31:27Speaker 2: we saw sort of similar stuff. But I guess I
- 31:31Speaker 2: put that more to just the depletion of the roster
- 31:33Speaker 2: at that point with Zim. And then you know, offensive
- 31:38Speaker 2: issues offensive line. You know, you think you get it
- 31:41Speaker 2: fixed and then everybody breaks something or you know, gets hurt.
- 31:47Speaker 2: So it's one of those you know, I guess he
- 31:50Speaker 2: paid the piper for all the good luck you've had.
- 31:54Speaker 2: So yeah, like I said, the buy couldn't come quick enough.
- 31:56Speaker 2: But there's a lot of a lot of decisions to
- 31:59Speaker 2: make during that now, and you know, we mocked it
- 32:02Speaker 2: going into this here about how early it was, but man,
- 32:06Speaker 2: it just seems yeah, glad that one right could come
- 32:10Speaker 2: fast enough At this point, you know, the real task
- 32:15Speaker 2: is going to be after that buy when you don't
- 32:17Speaker 2: have the buy coming, and how can you stay healthy?
- 32:22Speaker 2: How's this team playing? Can you run the ball? What's
- 32:25Speaker 2: how's wentz JJ? Whoever's playing quarterback at that point in time.
- 32:29Speaker 2: I mean, then we get into like serious, there's no
- 32:32Speaker 2: there's no help coming, you know, and you're gonna have
- 32:35Speaker 2: to to figure it out. But yeah, it's it's been
- 32:39Speaker 2: a roller coaster so far these first four weeks, offensively
- 32:44Speaker 2: more than the defense, but now the defense is starting
- 32:46Speaker 2: to show some wrinkles here. That and getting ran the
- 32:50Speaker 2: ball long Chris is not good because that's just snowballs.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Other teams will see it and they're just gonna run
- 32:57Speaker 2: the ball on you too until you can stop. You're
- 33:01Speaker 2: gonna see it, Yep, there's.
- 33:04Speaker 1: No doubt about that. As we lead into this next game,
- 33:07Speaker 1: the Browns are one in three. We're sitting of course
- 33:10Speaker 1: at two and two. Speaking a run game, talks about
- 33:14Speaker 1: how we're giving up a buck thirty a game, and
- 33:17Speaker 1: you know, early stats they can even out they can
- 33:21Speaker 1: you know, it's only four games, sure, but the Browns
- 33:27Speaker 1: are holding people to seventy yards a game. So clearly,
- 33:31Speaker 1: now some of that is who they're playing or whatever.
- 33:33Speaker 1: But like now, they don't run We run it for
- 33:37Speaker 1: about a buckle nine, they run it for about eighty five.
- 33:41Speaker 1: We're pretty close as far as like throwing, you know,
- 33:45Speaker 1: passing yards. But this one's weird because they're only averaging
- 33:50Speaker 1: fourteen points a game where we're averaging twenty five and
- 33:53Speaker 1: a half. But as we know, two of those touchdowns
- 33:57Speaker 1: you know, we're rogers, you know. And I'm not talking
- 34:00Speaker 1: about Aaron, I'm talking about our guy. So it's like
- 34:04Speaker 1: I said, early stats, four games, well, in one game
- 34:06Speaker 1: we had two defensive you know, touchdowns, So that twenty
- 34:10Speaker 1: five is not we don't have that good of an offense.
- 34:13Speaker 1: We're not average. We're not going to average twenty five
- 34:15Speaker 1: games the rest of the year the way it's going
- 34:17Speaker 1: at all, So that's got to be something. It seems
- 34:22Speaker 1: like the fourth quarter in two out of the four games,
- 34:27Speaker 1: the first and the last, we did get something going.
- 34:30Speaker 1: There's this stat here on Fox Sports that said the
- 34:33Speaker 1: vikings fifty seven yards after the catch when trailing inside
- 34:37Speaker 1: four minutes are the most in the NFL. So so
- 34:40Speaker 1: you know, the yards have to catch a lot of
- 34:42Speaker 1: that is get rid of the ball quickly. So therefore
- 34:45Speaker 1: the talent can do what it needs to do. We
- 34:49Speaker 1: gotta get off to a good start. That's obvious, right,
- 34:52Speaker 1: you want to do that anyway. But the Browns, according
- 34:56Speaker 1: to fox Fax Fox Sports Facts, the Browns have zero
- 35:00Speaker 1: passing touchdowns in the first half, which are the fewest
- 35:04Speaker 1: in the NFL. And you know, QB raiding passer rating,
- 35:10Speaker 1: it is what it is. They haven't been doing all
- 35:12Speaker 1: that good. Joe Flacco's in the house. They got Judkins,
- 35:15Speaker 1: they got Judy who's actually had some good games against us.
- 35:19Speaker 1: But you know, Flacco doesn't scare me. But you know,
- 35:25Speaker 1: if going back to it, if they can run the ball,
- 35:28Speaker 1: he is a guy that can be very serviceable. And
- 35:33Speaker 1: you know, I don't even want to I'll let you
- 35:36Speaker 1: talk about Marles Garrett. H Yeah, they got beat up
- 35:40Speaker 1: last week. They randomly did beat as a seven and
- 35:44Speaker 1: a half point underdog. They beat Green Bay. As we
- 35:47Speaker 1: saw how that played out, they lost a one as
- 35:51Speaker 1: a four and a half point underdog, they lost a
- 35:54Speaker 1: one point game to Cincy, so basically detrouit. When they
- 35:57Speaker 1: played high level teams Baltimore Detroit, they just got pounded.
- 36:01Speaker 1: But the other two teams have been really close. And
- 36:04Speaker 1: as we know that Bengals Week one, they did have
- 36:08Speaker 1: you know, their guy, so it was a different team
- 36:11Speaker 1: than we played. And then you know, as we know
- 36:13Speaker 1: how that went, it was just a weird game anyway.
- 36:15Speaker 1: So it's basically kind of a pick and Gabe, I
- 36:23Speaker 1: did notice because Pittsburgh has a good fan base, just
- 36:27Speaker 1: like us, and that was a lot more even than
- 36:31Speaker 1: it has been because you know, usually the Vikingspan kind
- 36:34Speaker 1: of rule Europe. That was not the case. Now, will
- 36:37Speaker 1: Cleveland fans travel, we'll see. We are three and a
- 36:39Speaker 1: half point favorites. The over under looks like an Iowa
- 36:44Speaker 1: Minnesota game from a couple of years ago here in
- 36:47Speaker 1: thirty six and a half, And I may go under
- 36:50Speaker 1: on that. I don't know because it's like, well, I
- 36:54Speaker 1: mean maybe, so you know, this is a this is,
- 37:02Speaker 1: like I said, I mean, a must win. And just
- 37:06Speaker 1: because they're only giving up seventy yards rushing or whatever
- 37:11Speaker 1: doesn't mean that we won't. You know, we have to
- 37:15Speaker 1: still try to run the game and open it up.
- 37:17Speaker 1: And I do expect shorter passing, you know, heading into
- 37:20Speaker 1: this game, I do expect having some little little dump
- 37:26Speaker 1: offs or something more to to get confidence. I'll say
- 37:30Speaker 1: it again. I liked what you said about Jefferson, how
- 37:32Speaker 1: they were just getting the ball early to him. He
- 37:35Speaker 1: had a good game, but yeah, we got to kind
- 37:38Speaker 1: of go West Coast on him, and maybe if they
- 37:42Speaker 1: are stopping the run, maybe we do go not full
- 37:45Speaker 1: West Coast, but you know that was the whole idea
- 37:47Speaker 1: of the West Coast. You can get five yards kind
- 37:49Speaker 1: of like a five yard run and it spreads them
- 37:52Speaker 1: out a little bit.
- 37:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree. And now will Couick KOs do it?
- 37:58Speaker 2: Is the question really his glorious system to to deal
- 38:04Speaker 2: with Miles Garrett, who's terrifying at this point. If we
- 38:08Speaker 2: had O'Neill and Garris on, you know, our our offensive
- 38:11Speaker 2: line in a decent shape, I wouldn't be as worried
- 38:15Speaker 2: about it. But like you mentioned before, we hit record,
- 38:18Speaker 2: it's like, what do you move garrisa wherever? Garrett goes.
- 38:22Speaker 2: You know, it's gonna you put him against cool all day.
- 38:25Speaker 2: It's got a Hall of fame in one game. You know,
- 38:28Speaker 2: not that he isn't already headed there, but yeah, that's
- 38:32Speaker 2: gonna not be good at all. Uh So, yeah, I
- 38:36Speaker 2: like the under just because of that. I think Chris
- 38:38Speaker 2: is I just don't think you're gonna put up much
- 38:41Speaker 2: points against them, because you will have a pretty staunch
- 38:47Speaker 2: pass rush and that's where we make our hay under.
- 38:51Speaker 2: O'Connell is throwing the ball, So whether he's gonna dedicate
- 38:54Speaker 2: himself to running the football or not, and then what
- 38:58Speaker 2: do you do? Do you run at Garrett or do
- 38:59Speaker 2: you run away from them? You know the age old question.
- 39:03Speaker 1: Do there?
- 39:04Speaker 2: But Derrisa is the only player on that line I
- 39:08Speaker 2: think that can handle them. So hopefully they'll well not hopefully,
- 39:13Speaker 2: but definitely they're gonna probably keep him away from Darrison
- 39:15Speaker 2: and choose four other options for him to rush the
- 39:20Speaker 2: passer under barring any real I don't know, miracle. I
- 39:26Speaker 2: guess that being Koc adapting the system or these offensive linemen,
- 39:34Speaker 2: you know, coalescing and playing above their heads. I just
- 39:37Speaker 2: don't see a big offensive day for us, So now
- 39:41Speaker 2: goes down to the defense. Can you stop Flacco, Judkins, Judy,
- 39:47Speaker 2: whatever else they throw at you? I think he can
- 39:51Speaker 2: if you can, you know, generate a pass rush on Flacco,
- 39:55Speaker 2: do a better job of stopping the run or at least,
- 39:58Speaker 2: you know, not allowing it to get you to move
- 40:02Speaker 2: the chains. I think you could probably handle Flacco, Judy
- 40:06Speaker 2: and the rest of them and keep their score down
- 40:09Speaker 2: as well. So you know, it might be a field
- 40:12Speaker 2: goal fest Chris, hopefully something like that. I just don't
- 40:18Speaker 2: see either team being able to to score a great deal.
- 40:22Speaker 2: We played Flacco last year, I believe when he was
- 40:24Speaker 2: in Indianapolis and he was was he with the Browns
- 40:26Speaker 2: last year or with Indianapolis last time I remember seeing him,
- 40:30Speaker 2: he was with indian Yeah, I.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Think I think you're right.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Yeah, we handled him pretty well, though. I think he
- 40:37Speaker 2: did have a chance to come back and beat us
- 40:39Speaker 2: and in that game. So you know, I'm also gonna
- 40:45Speaker 2: I'm gonna go against the Vikings on this one. I
- 40:47Speaker 2: don't want to, but I just the Miles Garrett factor
- 40:52Speaker 2: causing you know, darrisag injuries, knock on wood just to
- 40:56Speaker 2: knock on wood on him causing any injuries you have enough.
- 41:00Speaker 2: We don't need anymore. I just don't think offensively we'll
- 41:04Speaker 2: be able to get much together, and defensively, I think
- 41:11Speaker 2: that their offense surprisingly will probably score more points than
- 41:16Speaker 2: our offense. So I'll go something like, I don't know,
- 41:20Speaker 2: seventeen fourteen, something like that, and that's the high end.
- 41:25Speaker 2: It could be ten thirteen. It could be thirteen to six,
- 41:28Speaker 2: it could be ten to three. It could be in
- 41:31Speaker 2: any of those ranges, but I'll go so I'll maybe
- 41:35Speaker 2: split it in the middle, call it like fourteen ten
- 41:38Speaker 2: would be my final call. Fourteen ten Browns of Vikings
- 41:42Speaker 2: lose going into the by and we'll get to sit
- 41:45Speaker 2: and contemplate our show in the bye week about what
- 41:50Speaker 2: can we do to fix the lines the offensive line,
- 41:53Speaker 2: and maybe Crasy's already on it, who knows, But we
- 41:57Speaker 2: got a tackle problem here, and if going to be
- 42:00Speaker 2: gone for four or more weeks, especially the four coming
- 42:06Speaker 2: up after the buye, we've got to do something about
- 42:08Speaker 2: that right tackle position. So I say Browns win a
- 42:13Speaker 2: low scoring game.
- 42:15Speaker 1: Even if it's twenty to sixteen, that's still under the
- 42:19Speaker 1: two scores I had usually write down two scores. Funny enough,
- 42:23Speaker 1: it was close to your first score. Seventeen to thirteen
- 42:27Speaker 1: or twenty to sixteen, that's where we're at. But I
- 42:32Speaker 1: kind of like the funky like maybe it will be
- 42:36Speaker 1: a weird score, but I'm gonna go with the Vikes.
- 42:39Speaker 1: I think that they're going to find a way to
- 42:43Speaker 1: just do enough because their defense is not good and
- 42:49Speaker 1: they're giving up a lot of points. I'm just I
- 42:51Speaker 1: think it's gonna be ugly and maybe it's seventeen sixteen whatever,
- 42:56Speaker 1: but I'm gonna go Vikes, but definitely not confident, and
- 43:02Speaker 1: I do want to kind of I'm eyeballing that plus
- 43:05Speaker 1: number and I may juice it up and buy by
- 43:09Speaker 1: get it to four and a half or something like that.
- 43:11Speaker 1: If it goes up a little bit, I'll definitely juice
- 43:14Speaker 1: it up like a point and a half and and
- 43:16Speaker 1: live with it and take the take the win if
- 43:19Speaker 1: they can get it. But I'm gonna go Vikings. But man,
- 43:22Speaker 1: I am not confident because you know, why would you
- 43:26Speaker 1: be right? Especially that right tackle we're gonna see him.
- 43:30Speaker 1: You know he usually is on the left though right
- 43:33Speaker 1: or I guess the right on defense, but why why
- 43:38Speaker 1: would you know? I'm sure he can do I'm sure
- 43:39Speaker 1: he'll just switch it up like that. They're obviously gonna
- 43:42Speaker 1: do it, and you know we're gonna have to put
- 43:44Speaker 1: in you know, and then you know a guy that
- 43:48Speaker 1: could help protect his CJ Ham. He's been hurt, you know.
- 43:50Speaker 1: So I don't know, I'm not confident about it, but
- 43:55Speaker 1: I'm gonna say they're gonna somehow grind it out and
- 43:58Speaker 1: get the wind. But yeah, not not all that confident.
- 44:05Speaker 1: Now let's go to more positive things. The budding rivalry
- 44:11Speaker 1: with the Ruggers Scarlet Knights in the Minnesota Gophers. You know,
- 44:18Speaker 1: they they started out playing off coverage, not getting enough
- 44:23Speaker 1: pressure beyond maybe two kind of shaky passes eighth and
- 44:29Speaker 1: started out hot. The wide receivers will make it. You know.
- 44:32Speaker 1: He threw a shark, really sharp pass in the end zone.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Wide receivers they got, well, they got three of them
- 44:38Speaker 1: really that are pretty good, but two of them are
- 44:40Speaker 1: really good and they I think they came in the
- 44:42Speaker 1: game averaging forty two points or something like that. So
- 44:45Speaker 1: they can move when they're on schedule. It's a tough
- 44:49Speaker 1: offense to deal with. Their problem is defense. But it
- 44:52Speaker 1: was fourteen a zip. It's funny. I have I had
- 44:56Speaker 1: the plus six and a half with Ruggers right, I'm like, okay,
- 45:02Speaker 1: I don't think we should be a I think it
- 45:04Speaker 1: got down to like four and a half, but it
- 45:06Speaker 1: was like five and a half, and I just I
- 45:08Speaker 1: was like, nah, I'm going six and a half. But
- 45:10Speaker 1: then when they got the fourteen of zip, I had
- 45:12Speaker 1: watched the Iowa game and I had watched another game.
- 45:15Speaker 1: I can't remember who they played now, but I knew
- 45:18Speaker 1: they didn't have a good defense. So I was like, wait, dude,
- 45:23Speaker 1: it flipped. A live game flipped till we were we
- 45:30Speaker 1: were all of a sudden like a like an eight
- 45:32Speaker 1: and a half underdog or something like that. Like I
- 45:35Speaker 1: don it was. It just flipped. And so I already
- 45:38Speaker 1: had the plus six and then all of a sudden
- 45:44Speaker 1: it flipped. It was a oh, it was a plus
- 45:46Speaker 1: nine and a half. So when it was fourteen to zero,
- 45:49Speaker 1: and you know, betting wise, historically, that was the first
- 45:52Speaker 1: time in thirty years we came down from a fourteen
- 45:55Speaker 1: point deficit. And we kept having to come back too,
- 45:58Speaker 1: so we kept being down. But I grabbed the plus
- 46:01Speaker 1: nine and a half the other way, going nah, we'll
- 46:04Speaker 1: be in the game. I didn't think we'd win when
- 46:06Speaker 1: we were down fourteen sip. I gotta admit, I was like, this,
- 46:08Speaker 1: can me tough because they're gonna keep scoring that that's
- 46:11Speaker 1: what they do. But we did make adjustments. We had
- 46:14Speaker 1: that deep ball that really sparked it off. Carry Brown
- 46:18Speaker 1: had a nice pick Athan, Like I said, he looked
- 46:21Speaker 1: good right away. I think he was like nine and nine,
- 46:23Speaker 1: and then he wasn't so sharp. Carry Brown came off
- 46:27Speaker 1: as guy. I think they were in a zone, returned
- 46:30Speaker 1: it a little bit and beautiful pass, you know, and
- 46:37Speaker 1: catch by Brockington. So so all of a sudden, fourteen
- 46:42Speaker 1: and fourteen and in that nine and nine start went
- 46:45Speaker 1: from one and seven. So and cooy in Calle is
- 46:50Speaker 1: they don't they know you're wearing a helmet, so sometimes
- 46:54Speaker 1: you're gonna contact heads, you know, it could have been called.
- 46:57Speaker 1: It would have been called in the pros. But he
- 46:58Speaker 1: had a really nasty sacked there. But my point is
- 47:02Speaker 1: when we were down, I didn't think we were gonna
- 47:06Speaker 1: win at that point, but I wasn't like selling, you know,
- 47:09Speaker 1: all the way, and for you to come in that
- 47:12Speaker 1: came at like more than a field goal favorite and
- 47:17Speaker 1: then it flips the nine and a half underdog. I
- 47:21Speaker 1: understood why they did that, but something just told me,
- 47:23Speaker 1: you know what, I already won this bet. I think
- 47:25Speaker 1: I'm gonna win this bet. I ended up winning both bets.
- 47:27Speaker 1: It's that long story short. We weren't too good on
- 47:32Speaker 1: third down. Then we finally got going and it was
- 47:37Speaker 1: just they had a really nice drive. There was almost
- 47:40Speaker 1: a pick twice on their drive. They got back up
- 47:43Speaker 1: twenty one to fourteen. Cooy had a great kickoff return.
- 47:47Speaker 1: But you know, as Drake Lindsay continues here, we put
- 47:54Speaker 1: the trust in him, no doubt. But when he had
- 47:57Speaker 1: a like a a real like a fifty five yard return,
- 48:00Speaker 1: he joked that first tackler and he was he got
- 48:03Speaker 1: a long kickoff, and there was eight seconds left, and
- 48:06Speaker 1: I would have liked them to target the sidelines and
- 48:09Speaker 1: and just pick up five eight yards or whatever, because
- 48:13Speaker 1: they're gonna be off a little bit, and you know,
- 48:17Speaker 1: the field goals fifty yard. We missed it. But to me,
- 48:21Speaker 1: I think that at some point they're just gonna be
- 48:23Speaker 1: able to do that. They're gonna they're gonna be like,
- 48:25Speaker 1: all right, Drake, They're not gonna be tight on you.
- 48:27Speaker 1: We're just something you get something and I get it,
- 48:30Speaker 1: like it's only eight seconds left. But I would have
- 48:33Speaker 1: liked to seen us get it a little closer. But
- 48:37Speaker 1: you know, it is what it is. It is what
- 48:39Speaker 1: it is. It's no big deal. But the second half,
- 48:42Speaker 1: you know, you could in the first half too, but
- 48:45Speaker 1: you could just see Aaron, I'm a little long winded here,
- 48:49Speaker 1: but but you know me for years, I'm long winded.
- 48:53Speaker 1: But you could just see them taking away our run.
- 48:56Speaker 1: So many people in the box and before these last
- 49:02Speaker 1: two years, now, last year and this year, we would
- 49:04Speaker 1: have tried to take the square and and jam it
- 49:07Speaker 1: into the circle, you know, and just nope, it's not working. Okay,
- 49:10Speaker 1: we shave a little off, and we would have kept
- 49:12Speaker 1: trying to run, trying to run. You know. The red
- 49:15Speaker 1: shirt freshmen did get a couple of nice runs when
- 49:18Speaker 1: we needed it, but overall, in the second half, they
- 49:23Speaker 1: said go get them, and we threw the ball forty.
- 49:25Speaker 2: One time, yeah, and managed to win the game. I
- 49:30Speaker 2: thought it was a really fun game to watch. I
- 49:32Speaker 2: thought at fourteen zero hour was I was like, yeah,
- 49:36Speaker 2: oh my god, really this is this is not what
- 49:38Speaker 2: it's shaping up to be. And then they made some
- 49:42Speaker 2: sort of adjustments and fought their way back in the
- 49:45Speaker 2: game and then just had to keep you know, grinding
- 49:48Speaker 2: it out. But I thought it was fun to watch,
- 49:50Speaker 2: particularly the second half where you know, it was just
- 49:53Speaker 2: back and forth, and I thought both quarterbacks were playing
- 49:57Speaker 2: pretty well. Lindsey continues to surprise me. Uh, just the
- 50:03Speaker 2: grit and being able to actually be a quarterbacks. He's
- 50:06Speaker 2: not like Morgan. You know, there's still you know, bigger
- 50:10Speaker 2: route for him. Frost, yeah, get being able to get
- 50:17Speaker 2: him get his receivers the ball. I thought that Tracy
- 50:21Speaker 2: kid was was really an eye opener for me because
- 50:23Speaker 2: I had known about Jalen Smith a little bit just
- 50:26Speaker 2: watching the first few games of the season, and then
- 50:30Speaker 2: Tracy kind of comes on and he made plays in
- 50:32Speaker 2: those first few games too, but I thought he really
- 50:33Speaker 2: made the big play here with the stretch against the
- 50:36Speaker 2: end zone. Rockington's been around for a while battle injuries.
- 50:40Speaker 2: I thought he played really well. You're right they took
- 50:43Speaker 2: away the run, which if I was playing the Gophers,
- 50:46Speaker 2: I do the same thing exactly, but this time, you're right.
- 50:50Speaker 2: They they said, all right, fine, we're gonna make you
- 50:52Speaker 2: pay for it, and finally they could you know, I think,
- 50:55Speaker 2: you know, with Brozemerg kind of leading into to Lindsey. Now, Uh,
- 51:00Speaker 2: maybe Fleck is you know, moving away from you know,
- 51:04Speaker 2: three yards in a cloud of dust that he was
- 51:08Speaker 2: kind of stuck in just because you I mean, we
- 51:11Speaker 2: got number one on the schedule, We're gonna see them
- 51:14Speaker 2: next week, we got number two on the schedule, we'll
- 51:16Speaker 2: see them in two three weeks. And they're teams that
- 51:21Speaker 2: throw the ball and run, you know, stretch the field
- 51:23Speaker 2: and whatnot, and have athletes everywhere, and you have to
- 51:27Speaker 2: compete at least with them, and so you have to.
- 51:31Speaker 2: You know, Washington's another team like that that's pretty well ranked.
- 51:35Speaker 2: Michigan your face, and the nation's best outside of the SEC.
- 51:40Speaker 2: And at this point it's a toss up between which
- 51:42Speaker 2: conference is better, the SEC or the Big Ten. You
- 51:44Speaker 2: could do a whole show on that. But you know,
- 51:49Speaker 2: it was a fun game to watch. I'm glad we won.
- 51:52Speaker 2: I think it'd be a whole little different twist if
- 51:54Speaker 2: you barely lost that game. I thought defensivelys were really
- 52:00Speaker 2: stuck out for me, just the athletes, the defense that
- 52:04Speaker 2: we're able to play. Now we've watched this program kind
- 52:07Speaker 2: of progress, uh, and we always thought, well, you know,
- 52:11Speaker 2: you've got to have the defensive lineman, you've got to
- 52:14Speaker 2: have athletes on defense. And we've been kind of monitoring it,
- 52:18Speaker 2: and I've been kind of down on the defensive line.
- 52:20Speaker 2: I think they've actually got their best defensive line under
- 52:23Speaker 2: Fleck right now. You could probably say twenty nineteen. But
- 52:28Speaker 2: I really like these athletes a little bit better. Smith
- 52:33Speaker 2: and some of the other guys. They've got actually getting
- 52:36Speaker 2: you know, big league pressure on guys. It'll be a
- 52:41Speaker 2: true test next week in Ohio State maybe to see
- 52:43Speaker 2: where you're at. I don't think you're at their level,
- 52:47Speaker 2: but you know, can you compete? Are they gonna put
- 52:50Speaker 2: a fifty on you? Are you gonna get? You know,
- 52:53Speaker 2: how's that gonna go? Of course you'd like them to
- 52:56Speaker 2: win the game, the Gophers, but you know, stranger things
- 53:01Speaker 2: have happened. But yeah, I mean we always say this
- 53:03Speaker 2: going into Ohio State, Chris, I think every time we
- 53:06Speaker 2: go into the.
- 53:07Speaker 1: Show, I know exactly what you're gonna say.
- 53:09Speaker 2: Like, man, you know, it'd be great to win this one,
- 53:12Speaker 2: but I just I don't see it's not in the cards.
- 53:14Speaker 2: You know, I'm gonna semi pro team over there.
- 53:18Speaker 1: Uh, just make it respectable. Respectable.
- 53:22Speaker 2: You know. I thought, you know what, we always come
- 53:25Speaker 2: out and look like, hey, we got a shot in
- 53:27Speaker 2: these games, you know, first quarter, first first half, and
- 53:30Speaker 2: then something happens and then the floodgates opened for the Buckeyes.
- 53:35Speaker 2: But yeah, I just I like where we're at, and
- 53:42Speaker 2: I like, you know, there was some news I saw.
- 53:44Speaker 2: I think I read an article today on the twenty
- 53:45Speaker 2: twenty four recruiting class and what a what a jewel
- 53:49Speaker 2: that's turned out to be. Yeah, and it really has it,
- 53:53Speaker 2: and you'd think that under all the changes and whatnot.
- 53:57Speaker 2: But once they figured out that nil Chris, it just
- 54:01Speaker 2: kind of kicked up a notch and that was a
- 54:05Speaker 2: lot I think for Minnesotans to kind of grasp.
- 54:07Speaker 1: But you know, I think, yeah, exactly, and it's not
- 54:11Speaker 1: I wasn't donating the first year, you.
- 54:14Speaker 2: Know, Yeah, but I was like, do you want to
- 54:17Speaker 2: watch blueouts or do you want to what do you
- 54:20Speaker 2: want to do here? Folks? It's up to you. You know.
- 54:23Speaker 1: I don't like five and seven myself.
- 54:26Speaker 2: And we are like eight years into flag now. Man,
- 54:28Speaker 2: he's not going anywhere, so you gotta embrace it. And
- 54:32Speaker 2: I think that you know he gets criticism, fine, I
- 54:35Speaker 2: mean all coaches are going to get criticism, sure, but
- 54:40Speaker 2: I think for for where we're at right now, uh,
- 54:44Speaker 2: I think it's about the best. I mean, we could
- 54:46Speaker 2: get up in that higher echelon, and it'll take a
- 54:49Speaker 2: few things for that to happen, like some really great recruiting,
- 54:53Speaker 2: some good you know, some good deals and being able
- 54:58Speaker 2: to pay some kids and get really high. Yeah, but
- 55:03Speaker 2: I mean these teams have been I mean, Oregon, I
- 55:06Speaker 2: guess Rose in the last ten years, so it's possible.
- 55:10Speaker 2: But the Ohio State's been there since the seventies, man
- 55:13Speaker 2: and always been a top team in the country. So yeah,
- 55:18Speaker 2: I mean, you've got the next few games, the next
- 55:21Speaker 2: month or so is really gonna be a lightning one.
- 55:25Speaker 2: But yeah, I thought a great win on Saturday. You
- 55:30Speaker 2: needed to beat Rutgers kind of even it up. It's
- 55:33Speaker 2: kind of our new rivalry now just because of familiarity
- 55:36Speaker 2: with all the coaching staff and so on. So it's
- 55:39Speaker 2: good to beat them, and you know, we go into
- 55:42Speaker 2: the horseshoe. Chris, I'm not going to make any predictions
- 55:44Speaker 2: as far as a win, but I'll say, you know,
- 55:47Speaker 2: we'll keep it respectable don't get blown out, and you know,
- 55:51Speaker 2: play to win. You never know what can happen, get
- 55:53Speaker 2: some turnovers. You know, it'll be tough though, because we
- 55:57Speaker 2: could have beat Michigan last year in that same thing situation,
- 56:00Speaker 2: and you know, just the referees didn't want it to happen.
- 56:03Speaker 1: So, you know, but they were down last year though.
- 56:07Speaker 2: You know, yeah, let's get to a different team. Let's
- 56:11Speaker 2: take it to him in the horseshoots. Just see what happens.
- 56:14Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, And you know another thing about Lindsay that
- 56:18Speaker 1: liked like his pocket presence needs to improve and when
- 56:21Speaker 1: to run and when not to take it. He had
- 56:23Speaker 1: a couple of times where he's like, hey, that's seven yards.
- 56:25Speaker 1: He'll he'll learn that. But the tempo, like, I mean
- 56:31Speaker 1: just saying that, doesn't that sound stranger? We we temp
- 56:35Speaker 1: You got a guy flashing signals and it's tent. We're
- 56:39Speaker 1: playing tempo on offense. And I was like, who okay
- 56:44Speaker 1: this dude, Okay, he's he's under control. And you know,
- 56:47Speaker 1: we talked about when we're in that range of a
- 56:51Speaker 1: season where we need to get those six wins, talk
- 56:54Speaker 1: about those those you know whatever twelve to fifteen bull
- 56:58Speaker 1: practices well, last year they usually give the vets that
- 57:01Speaker 1: first week they kind of get some rust off from
- 57:04Speaker 1: the little break after the season, and usually the young
- 57:07Speaker 1: players really get it going. And last year they gave
- 57:12Speaker 1: Drake Lindsay, they said, this week you're the starting quarterback.
- 57:15Speaker 1: And so they was just like a test trial and
- 57:17Speaker 1: probably a test trial be like, okay, so what kind
- 57:20Speaker 1: of vet do we got to bring in here? You know,
- 57:22Speaker 1: And they liked what they saw. And you know, he's
- 57:25Speaker 1: already had two springs, so he's had reps. But the tempo, man,
- 57:30Speaker 1: I was like, oh my god, we're running tempo? Is
- 57:33Speaker 1: this really happening? So but yeah, as far as Ohiose state,
- 57:36Speaker 1: it's kind of interesting. You know, they have speaking of
- 57:40Speaker 1: a young quarterback too, Julian's saying they got a dude
- 57:43Speaker 1: named Bo Jackson running the ball. Not not not Bo
- 57:47Speaker 1: Jackson's son though. Okay, so don't worry about that. But
- 57:50Speaker 1: they got Jeremiah Smith. He's a stud. You know. Their
- 57:54Speaker 1: safety it's just crazy. They like you said, they got
- 57:58Speaker 1: talent everywhere. Caleb Downs that safety. When Saban left, they
- 58:05Speaker 1: lost a couple guys and that's one of them. That
- 58:07Speaker 1: dude's going pro this year. But one thing I noticed,
- 58:12Speaker 1: they are letting the youngster because they got Jeremiah Smith
- 58:17Speaker 1: and Tate at wide receivers. They always have wide receivers,
- 58:21Speaker 1: as we know. They also have a h an offensive
- 58:27Speaker 1: line of ours. That's the one guy we lost last year.
- 58:30Speaker 1: But you know, I digress. But one thing I've known
- 58:34Speaker 1: or seen. You know, Texas has a nasty defense, but
- 58:37Speaker 1: their offense isn't work in progress. It's really nowhere near
- 58:41Speaker 1: what they thought with Arch and all that. Maybe he'll
- 58:44Speaker 1: get better this year, we'll see, but that so that's
- 58:50Speaker 1: one game, right and you thought, God that that'll have
- 58:53Speaker 1: state defense is nasty. Look what they did and then
- 58:56Speaker 1: you see our chat problems against mediocre teams. They finally
- 58:59Speaker 1: had a big scoring game. But he just we'll see,
- 59:03Speaker 1: you know, we'll see where he's at this year. But
- 59:05Speaker 1: I noticed that Ohio hung with them a little bit
- 59:09Speaker 1: and then they blew the doors off them thirty seven
- 59:11Speaker 1: and nine. Now, last year they were in what is
- 59:15Speaker 1: it Spokane, Washington, I think where the stadium is right
- 59:17Speaker 1: there on the bay. And you know, it was three
- 59:21Speaker 1: zero for a while Washington, and it was seven to three,
- 59:26Speaker 1: I believe at half and slowly but surely, like I said,
- 59:31Speaker 1: they're giving this young guy time to grow and in
- 59:35Speaker 1: the meanwhile they'll just beat you up. And that's what
- 59:38Speaker 1: they did, and pretty sure, pretty soon they only got
- 59:41Speaker 1: another field goals twenty four to six. So they're speaking of,
- 59:45Speaker 1: like you said, if we come to play early. They
- 59:47Speaker 1: have been slow starting. And if you look at in
- 59:50Speaker 1: the last well under Day, their coach who just won
- 59:55Speaker 1: the Chip last year, they tend to start slow and
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: maybe they're saving stuff for the big games that of
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: course that's true, but they start slow and they get
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: better as the season goes, and we saw that last year.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: We are twenty four point underdogs. The over under is
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: forty four and a half. Though it's you know whatever
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: that means, but yeah, it's I just think that it's
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: gonna be a great, great experience for this youngster to
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: go to Eugene at Oregon in November, to play at Iowa,
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: and of course to play this weekend. So you know,
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: hopefully we can scheme some stuff up. We gotta be
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: able to run the ball. I will say that we
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: do these last two years. It's great to pass and
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: pass to run and all that, but you know, without tailor,
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: you know, the Femi, the red shirt freshman, he looks
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: like he's going to be good to go for the future.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: And now he was really starting to do something against
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: in that game too. We probably should have turned to
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: him earlier and get the play action going. But like
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: you said, Ohio State's gonna win the game. But Penn
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: State was pretty good last year. I mentioned Michigan not
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: being the same team. They're a little bit more back.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: This year. They got a true freshman that they're trying
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: to break in. But it does look like they're running
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: games back and but but we did hang right there
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: with Ohio State. Now we lost a lot of guys too,
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: as we know, it is what five guys made a
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: roster something like that. So you know, if we can
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: just stay around, like you know, like Washington, who by
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: the way, was putting up a ton of yards and
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: then they just got shut down. So I don't know,
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: you know, hopefully we keep it respectable. Maybe we won't.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: I don't know, But I think this type of stuff
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: is huge for them in general and for the youngster.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: I think you know, when you when you play these
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: type of this schedule's crazy this year, so and next
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: year it'll be different. So you know, we'll have Purdue,
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: we'll have Nebraska, Michigan stayed at home at Northwestern that's
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: at Wrigley Field, which is pretty dope, and then Wisconsin's
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: at home. I think the Nebraska game in the Michigan
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: State game. Those are like kind of like ruggers, like
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: fifty to fifty games, you know, and we happen to
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: have both of them at home. So that's why I
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: was so key to get up to, you know, up
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: to three wins, you know, and we could say could
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: have would have shot all day against Cal but we
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: did we couldn't, right, So hopefully they make a respect
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: thoughle but man, if they can, if they can just
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: just play this tough or whatever, and even if not,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: maybe we'll get our blood you know, second half at
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: or ask kick whatever it is, what it is. But Purdue,
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: Nebraska at Iowa, Michigan State. That happens before Oregon. And
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: the key thing is we do get a buye to
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: close the year. So before Oregon. I'm not saying we're
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: gonna beat them at all, especially at Oregon, but just
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: in general, they're a different team than us, of course,
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: like you said, levels but it's nice to get that
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: buy to close it out at Northwestern and in Wisconsin
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: at home, so you know, we'll see hopefully, you know,
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: there's a drive late in the second quarter that makes
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: it a game that we put together, or you know,
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: just certain hopefully Lindsey in the offense. Now that it
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: does seem like the wide receivers are catching the ball
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: those first two games, but well, first, especially that first game,
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: you know at Buffalo, there were some really bad drops.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: So it was nice to see Jay. I think Jalen
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: Smith already has does he already have two hundred yard games?
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: I can't remember, but Brockington's playing really well Ellen, and
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: so you know, hopefully, hopefully I'm not expecting much. Maybe
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: we can cover the spread, not get beat by more
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: than twenty four points.
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it would be nice, though, you know, to win.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: I mean, it's hard to think about because like, yeah,
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: the probability of that happened is very low, but it
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: would be a really really nice win.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: Speaking of men, to have like a chance in the
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: fourth quarter would be pretty crazy. You know.
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: Yeah, the stadium that's in Seattle, the Washington Stadium, that's
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: one of my top three.
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: I don't know why if Thatt Spokane. But that is
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: right now. That is a great stadium.
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: And you know, top three for me is that stadium Boulder,
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: and then you know good old Golden Golfers just because
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: it's it's home. So two Ohio teams this week, one
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: in London, one in Columbus. We'll talk about it next week.
