- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to a DM podcast.
- 0:03Speaker 2: We'll try to keep it as nice as we can,
- 0:04Speaker 2: but you might hear the occasional swear word in No
- 0:06Speaker 2: Dribble Don't tell Mom. Hello and welcome to No Dribble,
- 0:22Speaker 2: the podcast where we talk about netball, but we talk
- 0:25Speaker 2: about so much more. And you know what, this podcast
- 0:28Speaker 2: we talk about netball and so much more from all
- 0:31Speaker 2: the corners of the planet. I'm Carolyn Swindell. I'm coming
- 0:35Speaker 2: to you today from Vancouver, and do.
- 0:38Speaker 1: You know what's crazy? Because I'm Catherine Cox and Sydney
- 0:40Speaker 1: and it sounds like you're sitting next to me.
- 0:43Speaker 2: It is crazy. But I'm looking at you and I
- 0:47Speaker 2: can tell that we are in very different climates at
- 0:49Speaker 2: the moment.
- 0:52Speaker 1: We'll explain that because I have got a big puffer
- 0:54Speaker 1: jacket on. When the studio that we do the podcast
- 0:57Speaker 1: in in Sydney is normally like a hot box, is
- 1:00Speaker 1: it's so hot, so bloody cold this morning, so I've
- 1:03Speaker 1: still got my puffer on.
- 1:05Speaker 3: I might heat up or.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Combust one or the other where you look fambulous, Oh,
- 1:09Speaker 1: thanks to and as to you know, how is it
- 1:11Speaker 1: over there?
- 1:12Speaker 3: What's happening?
- 1:13Speaker 2: Well, it's great of here, we probably should say, though
- 1:15Speaker 2: we don't have Liz at the moment, and we're not
- 1:17Speaker 2: entirely sure why we don't have her. We did confirm
- 1:20Speaker 2: it is a different time for us to be recording,
- 1:22Speaker 2: but it was all confirmed yesterday, so she'll probably jump
- 1:25Speaker 2: in at some stage. So if we want to talk
- 1:27Speaker 2: about her, we should do that soon. But how is
- 1:32Speaker 2: it hit? Look, it's great, it's still Monday for me,
- 1:34Speaker 2: even though it is Tuesday for you. It's been Monday
- 1:36Speaker 2: for a very long time. My eyes are falling out
- 1:39Speaker 2: of my head. Dad and I went out for lunch
- 1:41Speaker 2: earlier on and we felt fine, and then you know
- 1:43Speaker 2: the way jet lag hits it Like it was about
- 1:45Speaker 2: sort of ten minutes after we'd finished lunch. We both
- 1:48Speaker 2: just went, oh my god. It was like the walking
- 1:50Speaker 2: Dead zombies in the streets, like which way is the hotel?
- 1:53Speaker 2: How do we get back here?
- 1:54Speaker 1: But I do always feel like that after a big
- 1:56Speaker 1: feed as well.
- 1:59Speaker 2: We were very good. I had a salad with some
- 2:02Speaker 2: seared tuna, delicious, very nice.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Okay, so what's the plant? So what's the time over there? Now?
- 2:09Speaker 2: It's five o'clock here now, so we'll wrap up here
- 2:12Speaker 2: and then Dad and I'll go and find some dinner
- 2:13Speaker 2: somewhere and then try to stay awake until seven thirty.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Okay, Now, what's to do in Vancouver? Like, are you
- 2:19Speaker 1: close to the are in the city, what's happening?
- 2:21Speaker 2: Yeah, so we're right in the city. Vancouver's beautiful. Is
- 2:24Speaker 2: this will be my third visit here in ten years.
- 2:29Speaker 2: But this woman's actually got quite a bit of time.
- 2:31Speaker 2: So I've actually put on the Facebook group for the
- 2:34Speaker 2: dribblers to tell me things that we should do in Vancouver.
- 2:36Speaker 2: But it's really beautiful. You know, it's a harbor city,
- 2:39Speaker 2: but there's mountains all around. There's still like it's summer here,
- 2:42Speaker 2: but there's still snow on the mountains quite close to
- 2:45Speaker 2: quite close to the city. So I don't know. Tomorrow,
- 2:47Speaker 2: we might get on a hop on, hop off bus
- 2:49Speaker 2: or something that's what you do with eighty four year olds,
- 2:52Speaker 2: and yeah, it'd be good. Dad's dad's having a rest
- 2:55Speaker 2: at the moment, and I said to him, well, what
- 2:58Speaker 2: time do you want me to wake you? And he said, oh,
- 3:00Speaker 2: I won't come and watch the podcast if that's okay, Yeah, Dad,
- 3:03Speaker 2: that's perfectly okay. That would be really weird. Actually, if
- 3:06Speaker 2: you're sitting opposite me watching me do my work.
- 3:11Speaker 1: So, oh God, love him. And then when you see
- 3:13Speaker 1: you go to the States after this.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Yeah, we go to Idaho after this, So just quickly.
- 3:18Speaker 2: My dad did his PhD at the University of Idaho
- 3:21Speaker 2: in chemistry around the time I was born. So I'm
- 3:24Speaker 2: bringing him over here so he can go to a reunion.
- 3:27Speaker 2: He's eighty four. The woman who supervised him while he
- 3:30Speaker 2: was doing his PhD is still supervising postdoctoral chemistry students.
- 3:36Speaker 2: She's ninety two years old and sharp as attacked. She's incredible.
- 3:40Speaker 3: That is so believable.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, and the guy who used to run this
- 3:47Speaker 2: the chemistry faculty here accidentally invented teflon so accidentally. Yeah,
- 3:54Speaker 2: how Dad explained it to me earlier on and I said,
- 3:57Speaker 2: you're going to have to tell me this again later.
- 3:59Speaker 2: I'm not I didn't do so well in the sciences
- 4:02Speaker 2: at school. I'm an arts scale, so I asked Dad
- 4:04Speaker 2: and he explained it. And he's very good at explaining
- 4:07Speaker 2: things in simple concept. But when you are jet lagged,
- 4:09Speaker 2: I'm like, god, Dad, can we just go over this again?
- 4:12Speaker 2: But yeah, it was a total accidental discovery.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Oh my god, I'm waiting for my accidental discovery that
- 4:17Speaker 1: makes me a bazillion dollars.
- 4:19Speaker 2: What about the No Dribble podcast?
- 4:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I was going to make some bazillion dollars starting when.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Not yet, not yet, Okay, we've got it would have
- 4:27Speaker 2: to be a fairly steep climb if it did. I
- 4:33Speaker 2: think we should talk about something though, that happened last
- 4:36Speaker 2: week after the podcast, and we were walking out of
- 4:39Speaker 2: a cafe and see the bird shit on your face.
- 4:46Speaker 3: I thought that was just going to die a slow death. Yes,
- 4:48Speaker 3: but do you know what I did? So we did.
- 4:50Speaker 1: We were saying goodbye to each other. I was standing
- 4:52Speaker 1: underneath a tree that had a stack of birds in it.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Unbeknownst to me at the time, neick minute down my forehead.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Lucky I had my glasses on. It wasn't what I've
- 5:00Speaker 1: had pink eye and now I face. But as soon
- 5:04Speaker 1: as I got into the car, which was fifty meters
- 5:06Speaker 1: up the street, I got on and did my lottery tickets.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Because it's meant to be good luck. Right, Clearly, it's
- 5:12Speaker 1: not because I didn't win.
- 5:13Speaker 2: The only people who've had birds crap on them say
- 5:15Speaker 2: that that's true.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Just trying to make themselves feel better about the situation.
- 5:18Speaker 3: But it doesn't work. I didn't win the lottery, that's okay,
- 5:22Speaker 3: and I don't think many other people did.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Maybe it was good luck for me because I had
- 5:27Speaker 2: a massive laugh out of it. Yeah, we were just
- 5:29Speaker 2: saying goodbye, and then it was quite funny because I
- 5:32Speaker 2: looked up so all those birds that immediately stepped out
- 5:35Speaker 2: from under the tree, and you're standing there cleaning your glasses.
- 5:37Speaker 2: It's like, move, move, there's a whole lot more up there.
- 5:40Speaker 2: I wish it had happened twice, but it wasn't going
- 5:42Speaker 2: too sadly quickly. You know that anyway. It's not nice
- 5:46Speaker 2: to laugh at other people's adversity, but you know that
- 5:49Speaker 2: was funny.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Now listen, don't you forget before you come back. I've
- 5:52Speaker 1: given you a Walmart challenge.
- 5:54Speaker 2: You have given me a Walmart challenge. So you've given
- 5:56Speaker 2: me some money. And this is what I do when
- 5:58Speaker 2: I come to North America. Our for my kids is
- 6:01Speaker 2: that don't really appreciate gifts, but they love American lollies
- 6:04Speaker 2: and confectionery. So I'm just going to go into Walmart
- 6:08Speaker 2: and I will be purchasing a selection for my children.
- 6:12Speaker 2: And your child fabulous.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 6:14Speaker 1: I told her this morning, and her eyes lit up, like,
- 6:16Speaker 1: isn't it funny? Does those little things get yourself excited?
- 6:18Speaker 1: I used to love that as a kid, when anyone
- 6:20Speaker 1: went traveling and bring you lollies that you've never seen before.
- 6:23Speaker 2: So I remember the first time I had an eminem
- 6:26Speaker 2: was after Dad had been to the US for work
- 6:28Speaker 2: and he brought back some eminem. So I just thought,
- 6:31Speaker 2: this is the most extraordinary thing that has ever entered
- 6:34Speaker 2: my mouth. So I can remember. I can remember clearly
- 6:36Speaker 2: the first time I had an eminem, and it was
- 6:38Speaker 2: someone coming back from the US with lollies and see
- 6:42Speaker 2: what I can find.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Yes, please, the next big thing, bring it on. I'm
- 6:45Speaker 1: prepared and I'll try it.
- 6:46Speaker 2: If it's appropriate, I'll try to video it. But I
- 6:48Speaker 2: don't know what's appropriate and in the United States anymore,
- 6:51Speaker 2: so I'm just going.
- 6:52Speaker 3: To pretty Walmart. Yeah.
- 6:57Speaker 2: So it's been an interesting week all round, hasn't it.
- 7:00Speaker 2: We've had some really interesting netball happen. But we didn't
- 7:04Speaker 2: talk about something last week that happened the week before
- 7:07Speaker 2: at the netball when both of our girls went to
- 7:08Speaker 2: the Swift's game and came home with some problems with
- 7:13Speaker 2: their hair.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 7:16Speaker 1: And this is not the first time it's happened to
- 7:18Speaker 1: me either, and I love it. Like there's so many
- 7:20Speaker 1: great activations out in the concourse or at the outside
- 7:24Speaker 1: part before you come in to watch the netball at
- 7:26Speaker 1: ken Rosewellerena. But one of them is the hair station,
- 7:30Speaker 1: so you can get your hair braided. No dramas with that,
- 7:33Speaker 1: but it's when the colored hair spray comes out or
- 7:37Speaker 1: the freaking glitter and then so you eventually see your
- 7:41Speaker 1: kid at the end of work, which I did at
- 7:44Speaker 1: the end of the game. So it's pushing nine pm.
- 7:46Speaker 1: She's got a head full of glitter. You're like, I
- 7:49Speaker 1: don't have time to wash that when we get home,
- 7:51Speaker 1: So therefore that's going to be all through the bed,
- 7:54Speaker 1: all through the sheets, and it should be banned. Glitter
- 8:00Speaker 1: in general should be banned.
- 8:02Speaker 2: I think it should be. When we were talking about this,
- 8:04Speaker 2: it reminded me of something that Pete and I thought
- 8:08Speaker 2: we were hilarious during COVID and found these found this
- 8:12Speaker 2: gift card and gave it to my neighbor who was
- 8:14Speaker 2: having a birthday. My neighbors. My neighbor is a good
- 8:17Speaker 2: Dribbler the a good netball family. Anyway, it was a
- 8:19Speaker 2: musical card and it played Happy Birthday, so we dropped
- 8:22Speaker 2: the card over there, but the music didn't stop, and
- 8:25Speaker 2: so eventually what you would do, obviously, is go, well,
- 8:28Speaker 2: this thing's annoying. It won't stop whether it's closed or open,
- 8:31Speaker 2: so you tear it open and then glitter goes everywhere.
- 8:34Speaker 2: So it was just glitter incite it because it's a prank.
- 8:38Speaker 2: It's a prank card obviously, so stupid. Sorry, So it's
- 8:44Speaker 2: designed for this exact same thing that happened. So, yeah,
- 8:48Speaker 2: it was great. I don't know that the recipients. It
- 8:51Speaker 2: works so well with our neighbor that we did it
- 8:53Speaker 2: with a couple of other people too, and no one
- 8:56Speaker 2: loved it that much. I sent one to my dad,
- 8:58Speaker 2: but told I had to tell my stepmother in advance
- 9:00Speaker 2: because she runs a very nice clean house. And I thought,
- 9:03Speaker 2: I can't have Dad just put glitter all over the
- 9:06Speaker 2: place and have it destroyed. So I rang her and
- 9:08Speaker 2: I said, this is what's happening. Make sure that he
- 9:10Speaker 2: opens it outside.
- 9:11Speaker 3: I have never heard of these cards.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Yeah, it was great.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Oh my god, I'm getting it. Were just from a
- 9:16Speaker 1: normal news agents or something going to no.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I bought them online somewhere I can't remember.
- 9:22Speaker 3: I'm getting some.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it was very funny, but I'd forgotten all about that.
- 9:25Speaker 2: It was funny for us. I don't know whether it
- 9:27Speaker 2: was funny for the recipients. I think that glitter is
- 9:30Speaker 2: such a pain in the ass because you're finding it forever.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Yes, and the little what they taught, I want to say,
- 9:36Speaker 1: confectionery that's not Confetti's. My sister always sends for birthday.
- 9:42Speaker 1: So for Harper's birthday and my birthday, a box full
- 9:45Speaker 1: of our favorite things. It's best, we love it. But
- 9:48Speaker 1: she always puts confetti and the little happy birthday things
- 9:52Speaker 1: in there, so it's full and they end up everywhere.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Does it on purpose and laughs every time she does it.
- 9:57Speaker 1: But it's actually my sister's birthday today. Happy birth Day, Sarah.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Happy Birthday Sarah. I wish I like your style. Why well,
- 10:07Speaker 2: with that gift, I think that's funny, all right, pack
- 10:09Speaker 2: it with the glitter.
- 10:11Speaker 1: But I'm desperately wanting one of these cards now to
- 10:13Speaker 1: suddenly appear on her desk right about now and put
- 10:16Speaker 1: glitter everywhere.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Payback.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Yeah, if she listens to this episode that she probably
- 10:22Speaker 2: won't fall for it, but jeez, it was great. It was.
- 10:23Speaker 2: It was so nice because at that stage and no
- 10:25Speaker 2: one we had seen it too, had heard of it.
- 10:28Speaker 3: So love it.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Love it now listen another thing. So you know, I
- 10:32Speaker 1: typically come up with good stories from flights because people
- 10:35Speaker 1: are people.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Yeah, people are people.
- 10:38Speaker 3: People are people.
- 10:38Speaker 1: On the weekend, I experienced a couple of things that
- 10:42Speaker 1: prompted me to think about things that you would do
- 10:46Speaker 1: in the privacy of your own home that you wouldn't
- 10:49Speaker 1: do in public. What have you got does one come
- 10:52Speaker 1: to mind?
- 10:53Speaker 2: Well, quite a lot of things come to mind, but
- 10:56Speaker 2: not things that I'm actually going to be talking about.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Right, Well, you kind of have to. That's the whole
- 11:00Speaker 3: way this works.
- 11:01Speaker 1: So what happened on the weekend though, There was a
- 11:03Speaker 1: guy sitting next to me on the plane and thank
- 11:04Speaker 1: god again there was a seat between us, but he
- 11:06Speaker 1: blew his nose and then opened the tissue to have
- 11:09Speaker 1: a look inside. Right, I've got no issue with that.
- 11:12Speaker 1: I would do that at home. At home, I would
- 11:15Speaker 1: never do.
- 11:16Speaker 3: That in public. Is that a weird one?
- 11:19Speaker 2: Like?
- 11:19Speaker 3: Just he obviously wants to check the color over.
- 11:21Speaker 2: I don't think you're weird. So so one that I
- 11:24Speaker 2: do try to avoid, and sometimes I do it without thinking.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Actually is because I do CrossFit and we're up on
- 11:28Speaker 2: gymnastic bars. I quite often have calluses on my hands,
- 11:31Speaker 2: and so sometimes I'll find myself picking my calluses and
- 11:34Speaker 2: it's like that is disgustingly, that's a private thing, Carolyn,
- 11:39Speaker 2: I don't do that. So yeah, so I tried. I
- 11:42Speaker 2: tried very hard not to pick at the skin on
- 11:44Speaker 2: my hands in public.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Oh that's great.
- 11:47Speaker 1: There was another guy too, when we were down waiting
- 11:50Speaker 1: for the bags to come out. He lifted his arm
- 11:52Speaker 1: up and smelt under his arm.
- 11:54Speaker 2: No, no, but again I was.
- 11:56Speaker 3: I would do that at home all the time.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Yeah, stoped okay, but I often do it with my
- 12:02Speaker 1: clothes too, Like if you take your clothes off, you're like, oh,
- 12:05Speaker 1: does this need to go on the waho?
- 12:06Speaker 3: Or is this one more days wearing it? Do you
- 12:07Speaker 3: not smell the pits?
- 12:09Speaker 2: Yeah? Not No, No, I'll smell my bra to see
- 12:16Speaker 2: if it can go around another day.
- 12:19Speaker 3: I do wash yours every day.
- 12:21Speaker 2: I change my bra every day.
- 12:23Speaker 3: I know that you wouldn't wash them every time.
- 12:26Speaker 2: No, no, but I often won't wear the same one
- 12:29Speaker 2: two days in a row. I'll give it a little
- 12:30Speaker 2: bit of you, because you know in your I don't
- 12:32Speaker 2: know whether you've got you wouldn't you're very organized. But
- 12:35Speaker 2: for most normal human beings, there's a few places that
- 12:38Speaker 2: the clothes can go. There's the wardrobe, yes, there's the
- 12:41Speaker 2: bedroom floor for something that's like that can go around
- 12:44Speaker 2: again tomorrow. Or there's a chair in your bedroom and
- 12:48Speaker 2: that's These are the different states depending on how clean
- 12:51Speaker 2: the laundry item is. Obviously, if it's completely clean, it's
- 12:54Speaker 2: in the wardrobe, but once it's been worn once, it
- 12:56Speaker 2: doesn't go back into the wardrobe for me until it's
- 12:58Speaker 2: been washed again.
- 13:00Speaker 3: The difference between your floor and your chair one though, the.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Floor will generally be like if it's gym gear, like
- 13:05Speaker 2: if I haven't worn it to the gym, if I've
- 13:07Speaker 2: just sort of pulled it on or whatever and had
- 13:09Speaker 2: had some gym gear on and I've gone for maybe
- 13:12Speaker 2: a walk or something on the weekend, and it's like
- 13:14Speaker 2: I haven't actually sweated in that, that'll go on the floor.
- 13:17Speaker 2: But if it's clothed that I will, like a T
- 13:20Speaker 2: shirt or something that I'm planning to wear again that
- 13:22Speaker 2: goes on the chair, a white chair.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Why can't the gym clothes fraternize with the clothes on
- 13:26Speaker 1: the chair.
- 13:27Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know. I've never talked about it. Well,
- 13:30Speaker 2: you know, I know it's twenty twenty five and we
- 13:33Speaker 2: should be able to you know, we are the world.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Everyone should be together. But I just feel like there's
- 13:37Speaker 2: floor clothes and there's chair clothes.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Yeah, how funny. I have the chair, I don't have
- 13:40Speaker 1: the floor. Definitely have the chair, which this morning I thought.
- 13:44Speaker 3: I have a.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Very large wardrobe and I would wear I reckon five
- 13:51Speaker 1: percent of it at best. You're just like, I've put
- 13:53Speaker 1: the same jeans on that I had on yesterday, a
- 13:55Speaker 1: different T shirt.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Yeah, everything's on. Just I reckon, particularly winter, I reckon.
- 14:02Speaker 1: I've got probably conservatively fifteen pairs of jeans, and I'll
- 14:07Speaker 1: probably wear three on rotation.
- 14:09Speaker 3: What's the point of the other ones?
- 14:12Speaker 2: The other twelve pairs of jeans.
- 14:14Speaker 1: I know it's very ridiculous, but I always try them
- 14:16Speaker 1: on the Oh yeah, I might wear those eventually, so
- 14:18Speaker 1: I keep them in there.
- 14:19Speaker 2: But I think you reckon. You've bought one pair of
- 14:21Speaker 2: jeans for every time the Thunderbirds beat.
- 14:23Speaker 3: You, well, I should have a few more pairs out
- 14:27Speaker 3: of that.
- 14:28Speaker 2: That's a good celebration, isn't it If you keep getting
- 14:30Speaker 2: beaten by the same team, going by yourself, something nice
- 14:34Speaker 2: off and the blow of it. So Lizzie's m Ia,
- 14:40Speaker 2: we don't know where she is.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm actually starting to get a bit worried because
- 14:43Speaker 1: this is very unlikely. Zealous, it is very unline. We
- 14:46Speaker 1: have rung her as well, so we'll keep you posted
- 14:50Speaker 1: on her. She'll be fine, I'm sure.
- 14:54Speaker 2: But we should talk about some netball because another great weekend.
- 14:57Speaker 2: So it was another weekend where a lot of people
- 15:00Speaker 2: in the tipping comp with surprised, so that very few
- 15:03Speaker 2: people got bing go. No one got zero, which was nice.
- 15:06Speaker 2: It's first round when no one gets zero. But about
- 15:08Speaker 2: three hundred and sixty percent of us were in tipped
- 15:11Speaker 2: two out of four.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Wow, I guess the upsets were the Vixens over the
- 15:17Speaker 1: Swifts and the Giants over the lightning.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Certainly the giants over the lightning. Yeah. Wow, it wasn't
- 15:23Speaker 2: that interesting.
- 15:23Speaker 3: But it was.
- 15:24Speaker 1: It would ended up being. By the time the Thunderbirds
- 15:27Speaker 1: had played. I think it was the bottom four teams
- 15:30Speaker 1: that all took it to the top four teams this week.
- 15:33Speaker 1: It was unreal. And then I had a quick look
- 15:35Speaker 1: at the week that's coming up. Round eleven impossible to
- 15:38Speaker 1: tip as well. It's a really tricky round coming up,
- 15:42Speaker 1: but I loved it. So the MAVs took it to
- 15:44Speaker 1: the West Coast fever. They only lost by three two
- 15:48Speaker 1: weeks in a row, though.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Wasn't it anyway?
- 15:51Speaker 1: It wasn't much, No, it it was close. You might
- 15:53Speaker 1: be right there, But two weeks in a row, the
- 15:55Speaker 1: MAVs have been guilty of a slow start. And that
- 15:58Speaker 1: is really possible because remember last week, down by seven
- 16:00Speaker 1: against the Vixens in the first quarter, how they ended
- 16:04Speaker 1: the game, and this one was very similar, So they
- 16:06Speaker 1: had a super slow start. They lost the first quarter
- 16:09Speaker 1: again by seven, and they ended up winning the second
- 16:12Speaker 1: half of the game, so it could have gone the
- 16:15Speaker 1: other way.
- 16:16Speaker 3: But it's a shameless, isn't here?
- 16:17Speaker 1: Because I wanted to chat with her around strategies to
- 16:21Speaker 1: avoid a slow start. Obviously that's something they're not great
- 16:25Speaker 1: at and something that I think they need to obviously address.
- 16:29Speaker 1: The Swift's not great at it either, actually, to be honest,
- 16:32Speaker 1: but how do you put in place practices to make
- 16:35Speaker 1: sure you have a stronger start.
- 16:37Speaker 2: I would love to talk about that because my under
- 16:39Speaker 2: twelve team, so we still haven't had a win, but man,
- 16:42Speaker 2: we had a great game on the weekend, but we
- 16:44Speaker 2: lost it in the first quarter. The girls would just
- 16:46Speaker 2: ham it in the first quarter and then quarters two,
- 16:48Speaker 2: three and four were really good and it's like, well,
- 16:51Speaker 2: we could have could have possibly won that game, but
- 16:54Speaker 2: the first quarter killed us. So it's all very nice
- 16:57Speaker 2: to talk about professional netballers, but let's be honest. What
- 17:00Speaker 2: we need is my under twelves to be getting some
- 17:03Speaker 2: advice from the chair of Netball Australia on how to
- 17:05Speaker 2: start strong.
- 17:06Speaker 1: It's bloody hard though with the kids, isn't it, because
- 17:08Speaker 1: there's always a game before you. Do you guys have
- 17:10Speaker 1: a game before you, no, so you do have a
- 17:13Speaker 1: proper warm up time. Yeah, so that's obviously the warm
- 17:16Speaker 1: up is key, right, Like it's got to be strong,
- 17:18Speaker 1: it's got to be efficient, it's got to be error
- 17:22Speaker 1: free to make sure you have a good, strong start.
- 17:25Speaker 1: But we don't get to do that on Friday nights
- 17:27Speaker 1: with my tens because there's always a game before us.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Literally running in between the goalposts, like in that tiny
- 17:33Speaker 1: little bit between the two courts, and then destroy on
- 17:36Speaker 1: balls around and hitting every other person.
- 17:38Speaker 2: So it's how you're under ten's going. Where were going?
- 17:41Speaker 1: Okay, Actually, there's a couple of teams that are apparently
- 17:46Speaker 1: super well drilled as a club, Like they have proper
- 17:48Speaker 1: coaches come in and do this full thing with them,
- 17:51Speaker 1: and they are like, it's like playing the junior Diamonds.
- 17:53Speaker 3: It's ridiculous. But otherwise we're good. We're going okay, they're
- 17:56Speaker 3: having fun.
- 17:57Speaker 2: You know, we're getting some Friday night netball this week,
- 18:00Speaker 2: two Friday night game and everyone needs to remember to
- 18:04Speaker 2: put their tips in before Friday. I need to remember
- 18:06Speaker 2: to do my tipping video before Friday this time, because
- 18:09Speaker 2: I've been doing that on a Saturday recently. But yeah,
- 18:12Speaker 2: Friday night at ball.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Spare a thought for the West Coast fover though, because
- 18:15Speaker 1: they've had two away games and now a really quick
- 18:18Speaker 1: turnaround to get back to play on that Friday night.
- 18:21Speaker 1: The good thing, though, is their opponents in the same boat,
- 18:23Speaker 1: and that of course is going.
- 18:25Speaker 2: To be the thunderbir Thunderbirds. Yeah, that'll be I Reckon
- 18:29Speaker 2: I Reckon Fever will win that I.
- 18:31Speaker 3: Would, I would think so.
- 18:32Speaker 1: I think Janille's just light stand out at the moment
- 18:35Speaker 1: for me, she's been amazing. But how about the other
- 18:37Speaker 1: games on the weekend day before we get to those
- 18:39Speaker 1: Thunderbirds Firebirds?
- 18:40Speaker 3: Ye, Firebirds could have taken that game as well.
- 18:43Speaker 1: In the third quarter it was even and then in
- 18:47Speaker 1: that fourth quarter could have gone either way. Firebirds sadly
- 18:50Speaker 1: so close to getting a win. But now eight losses
- 18:53Speaker 1: in a row. Yeah, they've only won three quarters in
- 18:56Speaker 1: the last five games.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Oh wow.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Yeah, that's hard, isn't it. It's tough to keep going hard.
- 19:02Speaker 1: But this is Liz's point, right, Like last week she
- 19:04Speaker 1: said that the bottom of four teams, and particularly the
- 19:07Speaker 1: bottom three at that point, they're probably minimal chance of
- 19:11Speaker 1: making finals, but they've got such a big say in
- 19:14Speaker 1: what happens at the top.
- 19:15Speaker 2: And well, look that the Giants have done in the
- 19:17Speaker 2: last two weeks. The Giants have probably made it significantly
- 19:22Speaker 2: more difficult for the Thunderbirds and more difficult for Lightning.
- 19:26Speaker 2: I think, you know, and both of those teams I
- 19:30Speaker 2: think have a toughish run home.
- 19:33Speaker 3: But how good is this Derby? Now?
- 19:35Speaker 1: So the swims off the back of two losses, putting
- 19:37Speaker 1: the Giants off the back.
- 19:38Speaker 3: Of two wins.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Two wins coming.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Up this weekend and the first time we're going to
- 19:42Speaker 1: see Corporal on wiki, the two key wins going at
- 19:44Speaker 1: each other, and they would never have played each other.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Isn't it interesting? It looks like we've worked out Grace
- 19:49Speaker 2: Wiki And I think that's one of the great advantages
- 19:52Speaker 2: of having her in this competition is that we put
- 19:56Speaker 2: your diamonds glasses on here that it's like we have
- 19:59Speaker 2: had more off unity. We've got all these Australian Diamonds
- 20:03Speaker 2: players who now understand her so much better. They're not
- 20:05Speaker 2: just playing her two or three times a year and going, well,
- 20:08Speaker 2: we can't beat it. And in the first half of
- 20:10Speaker 2: the season she was almost untouchable. But now they're working
- 20:15Speaker 2: out how to how to get around her. And probably
- 20:18Speaker 2: no one's so happy about that than Sophie. Fawn's getting
- 20:21Speaker 2: back on the court.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Yeah I know, but I'm worried about that change too though,
- 20:26Speaker 1: happening at that time, and poor Sophie, like she's barely
- 20:29Speaker 1: played all season, has the shot to win the game
- 20:32Speaker 1: on the weekend and misses it, And I mean, that's
- 20:35Speaker 1: a tough ask.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Isn't it far out?
- 20:37Speaker 2: Well, to be fair, it would only have drawn the
- 20:39Speaker 2: game for them and sent them into extra time. But yeah,
- 20:42Speaker 2: it's a lot of pressure, and particularly when it's like,
- 20:45Speaker 2: what is it around round eleven and this is the
- 20:47Speaker 2: first time she's taken the court this season, it's like, well,
- 20:51Speaker 2: you can't just expect her to then be able to
- 20:54Speaker 2: rise up under pressure with that. But I just thought,
- 20:57Speaker 2: I think it's such a great The Grace example is
- 21:00Speaker 2: such a great example of why having the internationals in
- 21:03Speaker 2: our competition is great because it just means going into
- 21:07Speaker 2: the Constellation Cup, we're so much better armed to deal
- 21:12Speaker 2: with Grace as a shoot up.
- 21:14Speaker 1: And you're right about working her out because she was
- 21:16Speaker 1: only forty from forty three on the weekend, And if
- 21:19Speaker 1: you put that into comparison with the other best goal
- 21:21Speaker 1: shooter in the league, fowl on them ard fifty seven
- 21:25Speaker 1: from fifty seven, so way bigger numbers, Like, we clearly
- 21:29Speaker 1: still can't stop her even though everybody's had that many
- 21:31Speaker 1: touches on her.
- 21:32Speaker 3: She's just playing out of a skin.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Isn't it. Yeah?
- 21:35Speaker 3: Yeah, And then what about the.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Giants of the Wood? I know a man that was
- 21:40Speaker 2: exciting wasn't. It was just and to watch the Giants,
- 21:43Speaker 2: it was like it was like they could do no
- 21:47Speaker 2: wrong for quite a lot, for quite a lot of
- 21:50Speaker 2: that game. And the Lightning, you know, they're making changes
- 21:53Speaker 2: left right and center and positions and just couldn't come
- 21:56Speaker 2: up with an answer for them. And I was looking
- 21:58Speaker 2: at the who you know, supershots over the weekend. So
- 22:01Speaker 2: Lightning got ten out of the twenty that they tried,
- 22:04Speaker 2: So of all the teams, they were the ones who
- 22:05Speaker 2: tried for the most supershots there, followed by the Swifts
- 22:08Speaker 2: who got twelve out of sixteen, MAVs got nine out
- 22:10Speaker 2: of thirteen, and Giants got five five out of eleven.
- 22:13Speaker 2: So and the.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Giants the queens of the supershot didn't go to it.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Interesting well yeah, I mean eleven they went to it
- 22:20Speaker 2: eleven times but only got five of them. But you
- 22:23Speaker 2: know it's yeah, I loved it. I wish that you
- 22:26Speaker 2: would stop being so biased on games you're not commentating,
- 22:29Speaker 2: no cap, I.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Did have a little chuckle at that comment on our
- 22:35Speaker 1: Facebook page. Nick was obviously not there firstly, but the
- 22:39Speaker 1: amount of times I've been accused of being biased towards
- 22:42Speaker 1: a team Honestly, it's been the Swifts for obvious reasons,
- 22:46Speaker 1: as I played for the Vixens, West Coast Fever Giants,
- 22:50Speaker 1: not typically one most certainly the Adelaide Thunderbirds.
- 22:53Speaker 3: I copped that all the time.
- 22:54Speaker 1: I think the only two teams I haven't been accused
- 22:56Speaker 1: of being biased towards are the Lightning and the five Birds.
- 23:00Speaker 1: To know that I'm doing both of well, while I'm
- 23:02Speaker 1: doing both those games this weekend, so I'll make.
- 23:04Speaker 2: A fantastical effort. I mean, look, you know, it's it's
- 23:09Speaker 2: great to see people putting up these chats on on
- 23:12Speaker 2: on the Facebook group and expressing these these look I
- 23:16Speaker 2: think it's an interesting perspective, I think, and it's particularly interesting.
- 23:20Speaker 2: So Chris, who posted it last year, was in a
- 23:24Speaker 2: within a conversation about who would you pick keep your
- 23:26Speaker 2: best Super netwal team, and he was arguing that you
- 23:29Speaker 2: wouldn't pick anyone outside the Thunderbirds because the Thunderbirds had
- 23:32Speaker 2: won two premierships. And it's like, well, that's a pretty
- 23:36Speaker 2: one eyed view of a particular group. And I'll acknowledge
- 23:40Speaker 2: that that's not in commentary, but it's like, well, it's
- 23:45Speaker 2: you know, you're not You're not the police here. You are,
- 23:47Speaker 2: you are a commentator. You're able to talk about what's good.
- 23:50Speaker 2: From my perspective, I would say that the worst what
- 23:52Speaker 2: I objected to most about that and no offense Cat.
- 23:56Speaker 2: But I know you're a big girl. You can deal
- 23:58Speaker 2: with people having opinions about how you do commentary job.
- 24:01Speaker 2: But saying that the Giants are making a mockery of
- 24:03Speaker 2: Australian network by having past the corporal overt and strenuously
- 24:08Speaker 2: object to that. I know there's a lot of people
- 24:10Speaker 2: who think, oh, she's blocking a young person coming through.
- 24:12Speaker 2: The Giants need they need to give their fans something,
- 24:16Speaker 2: They need to give their young players some things to
- 24:19Speaker 2: work towards it. And look what has happened to them
- 24:22Speaker 2: in the past couple of weeks, and what we're seeing
- 24:24Speaker 2: is with those youngsters on court who are now really
- 24:29Speaker 2: rising to the challenge.
- 24:31Speaker 1: So I.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Completely disagree that the having Casey corpora there is a
- 24:36Speaker 2: mockery of Australian network. I think it's it's great for
- 24:39Speaker 2: the game to see the Giants doing well. It would
- 24:41Speaker 2: be really great for the game to see the Firebirds
- 24:44Speaker 2: and Mavericks to start to have some wins too. I
- 24:47Speaker 2: think that it's no good for the game where we
- 24:50Speaker 2: have teams who are just struggling.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Yeah, the Firebirds and the MAVs are playing each other
- 24:56Speaker 1: this weekend, so your wish will be granted one of them,
- 24:59Speaker 1: someone someone, one of them will get a win. But
- 25:02Speaker 1: I mean, even the commentary around being biased, how can
- 25:06Speaker 1: you not be biased in a game like that? The
- 25:09Speaker 1: Giants were equal last up against third in the competition?
- 25:13Speaker 1: How many people tip them? How many people got bingo?
- 25:17Speaker 2: We only had eight people get bingo this week, So
- 25:20Speaker 2: I reckon.
- 25:20Speaker 3: There's probably eight people that tipped the Giants. Probably who
- 25:23Speaker 3: would have tipped it?
- 25:24Speaker 1: Not many people, right, So the fact that they won
- 25:27Speaker 1: that game, they did it convincingly. It's the first time
- 25:30Speaker 1: all season they won two consecutive quarters, and they ended
- 25:34Speaker 1: up winning three in a row, all by twenty plus
- 25:37Speaker 1: in each of those quarters. Matt like the game was
- 25:40Speaker 1: sheer perfection from the Giants that you can't help but
- 25:44Speaker 1: be bias anyway, it's not so the bias is not.
- 25:46Speaker 3: That's what pisses me off as well. It's not.
- 25:48Speaker 1: The bias isn't around. I love this team. I'm going
- 25:51Speaker 1: to talk them up. But of course, when one team
- 25:53Speaker 1: is performing you're going to be talking about them in
- 25:56Speaker 1: a more positive light than you are the other. That's
- 25:58Speaker 1: the nature of the beast.
- 26:00Speaker 2: I think the bias is around the joy too. It's
- 26:02Speaker 2: like we watch this sport, we watch all sport because
- 26:05Speaker 2: we want to see great things happen. And what I
- 26:08Speaker 2: saw there watching that Giants game was great things happen.
- 26:11Speaker 2: I saw them. You know, they are believing in themselves.
- 26:14Speaker 2: You know, Amy Sliger had a killer of the game
- 26:17Speaker 2: and what we've seen in the last two weeks is
- 26:20Speaker 2: Erin O'Brien and Sophie Dwyer be given most MVP awards
- 26:25Speaker 2: after a game. Now, you can only get that if
- 26:27Speaker 2: your team wins. So if you are a young player
- 26:29Speaker 2: and you get that, what an enormous boost that is
- 26:32Speaker 2: to your confidence and your desire to stay in the game. So,
- 26:37Speaker 2: you know, I just I just think it's good for
- 26:39Speaker 2: the game when we have different teams winning and these
- 26:43Speaker 2: and these shakeups and things happening, and you know this
- 26:45Speaker 2: will be good for Lightning.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Too, Yeah, big time, I know.
- 26:48Speaker 1: And that's what the thing that certainly fran William said
- 26:51Speaker 1: on Pivot on the weekend as well, whilst they got
- 26:52Speaker 1: the winner.
- 26:53Speaker 3: They had to fight for it.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Those are good for these teams at this point, like
- 26:56Speaker 1: we're only four weeks away from finals. They need a
- 26:59Speaker 1: little shake every now and then.
- 27:00Speaker 3: And that's happened.
- 27:01Speaker 1: I think for all the top four that particular round
- 27:04Speaker 1: would have been good for them. But this one coming
- 27:07Speaker 1: up bloody hard to tip off the back of all
- 27:10Speaker 1: of that, so I'm not even going to look at it.
- 27:12Speaker 2: But I do love people starting these chats in the
- 27:15Speaker 2: Facebook group. And you know, we've had one hundred and
- 27:16Speaker 2: one comments on Chris's post there. Obviously this has now.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Not all of them were disagreeing with him. I think
- 27:23Speaker 2: a lot of them were talking, we're not so much
- 27:26Speaker 2: focusing on you, but focusing on the giants. There are
- 27:29Speaker 2: a number of people who would like you not to
- 27:32Speaker 2: be criticized, So love you guys. They'll probably come at
- 27:36Speaker 2: me if they see me too, because I'd like to
- 27:37Speaker 2: take the piss out of you. But anyway, I just
- 27:39Speaker 2: I really liked you. I thought it was a great,
- 27:41Speaker 2: a great discussion. I didn't agree with it, but you know,
- 27:45Speaker 2: it's really good to see the chat occurring. You know,
- 27:47Speaker 2: these things happening. We've got a couple of other great
- 27:49Speaker 2: things that have happened in the Facebook. So Kerry Rodgers
- 27:52Speaker 2: had put up a poll, which I love. It is
- 27:55Speaker 2: about who's got the best ponytail in the league, and
- 27:58Speaker 2: she said two hundred and fifty's on this. Now I'm
- 28:02Speaker 2: a little bit up to upset that. So Carra Conan
- 28:05Speaker 2: has fifty one percent of the boats at the moment. Now,
- 28:07Speaker 2: I think if you've got Carra Conan up there, you
- 28:09Speaker 2: need to have Sarah Klow up there as well. And
- 28:12Speaker 2: she's not. Personally I think Grace White has the best ponytail,
- 28:15Speaker 2: but Ruby Bakoldoran has an amazing ponytail as well, And
- 28:19Speaker 2: I think these are these sorts of issues that dribblers
- 28:22Speaker 2: need to get around.
- 28:23Speaker 3: So I'm now I agree with you.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Is Sarah Klow's issue the fact that she goes between
- 28:29Speaker 1: the bun and the ponitar like not fully committed to
- 28:32Speaker 1: the pony tar.
- 28:33Speaker 2: So I don't know Kerry's background or the background of
- 28:37Speaker 2: the people who voted for Kara, but I'm wondering if
- 28:40Speaker 2: a lot of them are Lightning fans. So I don't know,
- 28:43Speaker 2: I don't know. Maybe there's a hair bias going on
- 28:45Speaker 2: in netball and we need to have a deep dive
- 28:49Speaker 2: into that. But yes, car Conin certainly does have an
- 28:52Speaker 2: excellent ponytail.
- 28:53Speaker 3: But performance hair keeps on giving.
- 28:54Speaker 2: High performance here and I like to see that she
- 28:57Speaker 2: does a little the bow in her hair sometimes too
- 29:01Speaker 2: oh so razy. And there's also another there's another great
- 29:05Speaker 2: side chat that people can join if they want to,
- 29:07Speaker 2: and that's called Diamonds in the Raft that was proposed
- 29:09Speaker 2: by one of the dribblers and that's now been set
- 29:11Speaker 2: up and that's going crazy with people talking about who
- 29:14Speaker 2: are the future diamonds and who are who are the
- 29:16Speaker 2: younger players now who are playing and that's that's just
- 29:19Speaker 2: it's fabulous to see how many people are paying attention
- 29:23Speaker 2: to these young up and coming players and see what
- 29:26Speaker 2: we have there. So I feeling I'm feeling good about
- 29:29Speaker 2: our Facebook community me too.
- 29:31Speaker 1: I'm going to throw Darryl Milton into the mix as well,
- 29:33Speaker 1: because he's just started the path to finals and who's
- 29:37Speaker 1: a good chance of making them and who's not.
- 29:39Speaker 3: I like it.
- 29:40Speaker 1: It's been interesting, particularly the one that was this week
- 29:42Speaker 1: around who's on the bottom of the table. I need
- 29:45Speaker 1: to look again, but basically everybody can still make the finals. Obviously,
- 29:49Speaker 1: things need to go certain ways.
- 29:50Speaker 3: But I love that.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, so I think and I think he was
- 29:54Speaker 2: saying too. The only two that are as shorter a
- 29:55Speaker 2: spot are the Swifts and the Fever, But that doesn't
- 29:58Speaker 2: mean that they're assured of a of a home of
- 30:01Speaker 2: a home final, so that can obviously still be chained.
- 30:04Speaker 2: But yeah, so Thunderbirds, Lightning Vixen's and outside chants of
- 30:10Speaker 2: the Giants, and I mean even further outside chance of
- 30:13Speaker 2: the Maps and the Firebirds. You need to see some
- 30:16Speaker 2: big upsets happening for it to be anything other than
- 30:19Speaker 2: those four out of those top five. But yeah, I
- 30:22Speaker 2: think it's exciting.
- 30:23Speaker 3: It's great, isn't it.
- 30:24Speaker 1: And we've got very exciting things up our sleeve too
- 30:26Speaker 1: around we do time.
- 30:28Speaker 2: We do, we do, and so that's happening this week.
- 30:30Speaker 2: So tickets for the sun Clop SUPERNEVL Grand Final go
- 30:34Speaker 2: on sale to the public on the nineteenth of June.
- 30:37Speaker 2: So we are releasing tickets for our Grand Final Eve
- 30:41Speaker 2: party on the twentieth of June. So we held back
- 30:44Speaker 2: two thirds of them because a lot of people will
- 30:48Speaker 2: be waiting to see if they get tickets just in
- 30:50Speaker 2: the general ticket release before they decide to go to
- 30:52Speaker 2: an event the night before, but those tickets will go
- 30:56Speaker 2: on sale on the twentieth, which is what day is that?
- 30:59Speaker 2: That's what ideenth?
- 31:00Speaker 3: Yeah, good exa.
- 31:03Speaker 2: But come and join us in Melbourne. It's going to
- 31:05Speaker 2: be so much fun. We've got a lot of good
- 31:06Speaker 2: stuff planned. Okay, So can I just do a quick
- 31:09Speaker 2: update on the Valor Dribblers tipping comp this week. We've
- 31:11Speaker 2: had some very interesting things happen this week now, I think,
- 31:14Speaker 2: so we have I prefer Quidditch, who has now pulled
- 31:17Speaker 2: two points ahead to have the outright lead on thirty
- 31:22Speaker 2: nine points. So I don't know whether Hayley tip the Giants,
- 31:26Speaker 2: but she only got two this week, so I suspect
- 31:28Speaker 2: that even our most excellent tipper of the first eleven
- 31:34Speaker 2: rounds has been thrown by this round. But anyway, in
- 31:36Speaker 2: second place, there are four people on thirty seven points,
- 31:39Speaker 2: Taylor Crayfish, Fascinator, Thunderballs and Ryan ninety nine. They're on
- 31:43Speaker 2: thirty seven points, so they're going to have to do
- 31:47Speaker 2: something pretty fancy in order to be able to take
- 31:50Speaker 2: over from I prefer Quidditch. There's only a few rounds.
- 31:53Speaker 2: You're sitting in eighteenth position, still on thirty five points,
- 31:56Speaker 2: so congratulations gord Is on Gordy and I are on
- 32:00Speaker 2: the same points, twenty six points. She's three hundred and
- 32:03Speaker 2: seventy first and I'm three hundred and eighty second based
- 32:06Speaker 2: on our picking the differential, and Liz is sitting in
- 32:09Speaker 2: five hundred and seventeenth place on twenty points with her
- 32:13Speaker 2: only pick the home team strategy. So that's interesting, okay,
- 32:17Speaker 2: But the big updates that I know everyone's most interested
- 32:20Speaker 2: in are so the weekly prize. The weekly prize of
- 32:24Speaker 2: the val voucher goes to Jackie D and Mellie is
- 32:30Speaker 2: still sitting on her turkey intom bottom place on fourteen points,
- 32:36Speaker 2: two points clear of the next lowest on sixteen points.
- 32:39Speaker 2: And once again Melli has maintained their perfect tipping performance
- 32:44Speaker 2: in that they are tipping every single week. They're not
- 32:47Speaker 2: missing any they're not getting default scores or whatever. So
- 32:50Speaker 2: this is this is a really someone needs to do
- 32:53Speaker 2: a PhD on this. I think this is fascinating.
- 32:56Speaker 3: This is my thing.
- 32:57Speaker 1: I feel like she actually deserves a good prize because
- 33:00Speaker 1: it's just as hard, just as hard, yeah, if not
- 33:04Speaker 1: harder to come last.
- 33:05Speaker 2: Yeah, well it'll be interesting to get a sense from
- 33:08Speaker 2: Mellie whether this has at any stage, whether this becomes
- 33:12Speaker 2: a strategy and then you start trying to tip to
- 33:14Speaker 2: stay in last. But in one of the great posts
- 33:17Speaker 2: on the Facebook group, Diana what said she came second?
- 33:20Speaker 2: I think it was this week and she's sitting in
- 33:22Speaker 2: the four hundreds. So so yeah, you do keep putting
- 33:25Speaker 2: your tips in because there is that weekly prize there
- 33:27Speaker 2: from Valor. It's not just whoever the winner is. But yeah,
- 33:33Speaker 2: we will watch with interest what happens with I prefer
- 33:36Speaker 2: Quidditch and Mellie and see what happens at the at
- 33:40Speaker 2: the end of this season.
- 33:42Speaker 3: So excited. Yeah, so what's a what are you going
- 33:47Speaker 3: to do?
- 33:47Speaker 2: Now?
- 33:47Speaker 1: You're going to go and explore for a bit and
- 33:49Speaker 1: have some dinner. What's a traditionally Canadian food? When are
- 33:53Speaker 1: you going to go and get your mate?
- 33:54Speaker 2: Well, I'm not going to get this, but I think
- 33:56Speaker 2: they have poutine, which is basically just hot chips with
- 33:59Speaker 2: gravy and some cheese curds on the top. But because
- 34:04Speaker 2: we're in Vancouver, I'm going to be seeking out some salmon,
- 34:07Speaker 2: some Pacific salmon. So it was funny. Dad just came
- 34:11Speaker 2: out of the bedroom and he's gone out onto the
- 34:13Speaker 2: balcony and I said to him, I'll be wrapped up
- 34:16Speaker 2: here soon. And he said, I thought you were doing
- 34:19Speaker 2: your podcast. I said, yeah, I am doing it now.
- 34:20Speaker 2: And then he said to me, oh, yeah, I accidentally
- 34:22Speaker 2: listened to one of those once that was quite good.
- 34:24Speaker 2: So oh, accidentally, I didn't know you did a podcast.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Yeah you did, you did.
- 34:29Speaker 1: But anyway, the people that you hang around with accidentally
- 34:32Speaker 1: listened to podcast, accidentally invented teflon.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Dad, that's a little bit underwhelming compared to some of
- 34:40Speaker 2: your former colleagues. But you accidentally listened to a podcast.
- 34:43Speaker 2: But ye, Well, anyway, Pete, my dad was a fan
- 34:46Speaker 2: in the one episode that he has managed to catch.
- 34:48Speaker 1: So that's great news and I'm very pleased about that. Hey,
- 34:52Speaker 1: can I ask you a question? This picture behind you
- 34:53Speaker 1: has been driving me bananas? Yeah?
- 34:55Speaker 3: Is your camera on an angle? Or is that picture crooked?
- 34:58Speaker 2: Oh? My camera angle because I'm sort of filming upwards.
- 35:02Speaker 2: So what if I do that isn't there? I think
- 35:07Speaker 2: it's straight. I think it's straight. Shouldn't be drive should
- 35:10Speaker 2: What is it? Is? It? Is it oranges? Clementines? It's
- 35:14Speaker 2: Clementine's apples.
- 35:15Speaker 3: Think, what is it clementine?
- 35:17Speaker 2: Well, this is something it is. It's a citrus fruit
- 35:20Speaker 2: and like an orange, a type of orange that it's
- 35:23Speaker 2: very common in North America. I had a clementine soda
- 35:26Speaker 2: with my salad today for lunch, so, you know, because
- 35:30Speaker 2: I'm embracing different cultures, just like I'm going to embrace
- 35:33Speaker 2: the local sharda a tonight.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Oh my god, I'm so I'm actually drooling at the
- 35:38Speaker 1: thought of the shardi. Does a clementine taste like an orange?
- 35:41Speaker 2: Well, I've only tried it in this. In this it
- 35:45Speaker 2: was like a mineral water with clementine in it. So
- 35:48Speaker 2: I'm not an expert yet on clementine's. But yeah, it
- 35:51Speaker 2: tasted pretty orange to me. But apparently it's clementine's. So
- 35:55Speaker 2: what have you got on this week?
- 35:57Speaker 1: I'm heading to Queensland. I'm doing both. The game is
- 36:00Speaker 1: up there this weekend. So that's Lightning Vixen's, It's got
- 36:04Speaker 1: Important's weighing on it.
- 36:06Speaker 3: Wow, who would you tip?
- 36:10Speaker 2: Fixings are looking pretty good.
- 36:11Speaker 1: I know, but Lightning at home too, and they respond
- 36:14Speaker 1: pretty well. One's a tough one. And then I'm going
- 36:17Speaker 1: to Brisbane and I'm doing the Firebirds MAVs game obviously
- 36:21Speaker 1: those two that's out of.
- 36:22Speaker 3: Match up as well.
- 36:23Speaker 1: That'll be a good game. And then I'm staying in
- 36:25Speaker 1: bris Vegas to catch up with Meghan Anderson. Oh nice, yeah, nice,
- 36:29Speaker 1: and then I'll come home Monday.
- 36:30Speaker 2: So that actually, you know, all credit to the Queensland crowds.
- 36:33Speaker 2: They are they are turning out and doing a good
- 36:36Speaker 2: job at Nisson Arena. They do a good job for
- 36:38Speaker 2: the Firebirds there. I think that it's and I'm really
- 36:41Speaker 2: hoping that the Giants fans will get back to the games,
- 36:46Speaker 2: particularly this weekend. It's going to be who's oh Swift's
- 36:50Speaker 2: It's long old Swift time. Yeah, yeah, Pete and Dodder going.
- 36:55Speaker 2: I'm obviously not going, but yeah it's going to be
- 36:58Speaker 2: going to be a cracker. But you know, I'm the
- 37:00Speaker 2: Giants for the rest of the season. Get behind all
- 37:02Speaker 2: the teams, you know, go and it does. It makes
- 37:05Speaker 2: a huge difference for them. So but yeah, all credit
- 37:08Speaker 2: to the Queensland team and Queensland sports fans. And I
- 37:12Speaker 2: am one of them, a State of Origin fan dad,
- 37:14Speaker 2: and I'm going to go and watch the State of
- 37:15Speaker 2: Origin somewhere here, but it'll be at two am, it's like, no,
- 37:18Speaker 2: thank you won't be watching the State of Origin.
- 37:20Speaker 1: Yeah, because of the Perth time difference too. That makes
- 37:22Speaker 1: a difference, doesn't it. I'm spewing this weekend though, because
- 37:25Speaker 1: I had I was originally doing the derby in Sydney,
- 37:27Speaker 1: and I had organized tickets for more of my little
- 37:29Speaker 1: team to come. So everybody's going and now I'm doing
- 37:32Speaker 1: the two Queensland Games.
- 37:35Speaker 2: We appreciate your service.
- 37:38Speaker 3: Yeah, they'll have fun.
- 37:39Speaker 1: So if you if you can, actually we shall get
- 37:41Speaker 1: some glitter amongst their heads or make special mention of
- 37:43Speaker 1: that's just.
- 37:44Speaker 2: As well you're not commentating it. You'd be biased towards
- 37:47Speaker 2: both teams, correct, So yeah, so we will. We'll send
- 37:51Speaker 2: out a search party now for Mizzellous. But I think
- 37:55Speaker 2: we've had We've had a lovely time Catherine. We can
- 37:57Speaker 2: do it without her.
- 37:59Speaker 3: We next time we with some food from a glass
- 38:02Speaker 3: of winey oh.
- 38:03Speaker 2: That would be good. We don't want to do it
- 38:04Speaker 2: without her. So the next time we speak, I will
- 38:07Speaker 2: be I think back in Vancouver, so I will be
- 38:09Speaker 2: on my way back out through on my way home,
- 38:13Speaker 2: having been to the small town of Moscow, Idaho. So
- 38:18Speaker 2: where there is a University and they have a potato
- 38:22Speaker 2: specialist faculty there, so I'll learn what I can about potatoes.
- 38:26Speaker 3: I'm intrigued.
- 38:27Speaker 1: I feel like this is a Forest Gump moment. You know,
- 38:30Speaker 1: it's a shrimp car whatever is it?
- 38:32Speaker 3: Shrimp? Yeah, barb grumpy you can get out with.
- 38:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll do my best. So just re recording this
- 38:43Speaker 2: now because I've just down a shout out to Kate Watson,
- 38:45Speaker 2: who is someone I went to high school with. When
- 38:47Speaker 2: actually what I want to do is give a shout
- 38:48Speaker 2: out to Liz Watson for her participation in the Mode
- 38:52Speaker 2: in your Own Disease fundraiser that they did at the
- 38:54Speaker 2: AFL game. It's been two weeks ago now. She was
- 38:57Speaker 2: dipped in ice in Melbourne in winter, Thank you very
- 39:00Speaker 2: much the big freeze. But yeah, yeah, good honor.
- 39:03Speaker 1: I know in Melbourne you can literally just can't stand
- 39:05Speaker 1: in your underwear in the middle of the end pretty much.
- 39:09Speaker 2: Well, isn't that one of those behaviors you should do
- 39:11Speaker 2: at home and not in public?
- 39:12Speaker 3: Correct?
- 39:13Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 39:13Speaker 1: Let us know though, your behaviors you do at home
- 39:16Speaker 1: but not in public.
- 39:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I would like to hear this too. I reckon
- 39:20Speaker 2: there'd be a few of the dribblers who to have
- 39:21Speaker 2: some Daryl Milton, can you take the lead on this one.
- 39:24Speaker 2: Please start telling us what some behaviors that you are well, actually,
- 39:28Speaker 2: maybe your partner should tell us. What are some things
- 39:30Speaker 2: Daryl does in public that we would prefer were just
- 39:32Speaker 2: private ones. But anyway, I know that we've got some
- 39:35Speaker 2: great characters in our community and I'm looking forward to
- 39:38Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to see what we do with that
- 39:41Speaker 2: in the group this week. But yeah, don't forget to
- 39:43Speaker 2: get your tickets for the event, and please again share
- 39:46Speaker 2: this podcast. We're trying to build this audience. Our Facebook
- 39:51Speaker 2: group is growing beautifully, but apparently not everyone knows that
- 39:55Speaker 2: there's a podcast. Even though they are joining the No
- 39:58Speaker 2: Dribble Podcast Facebook group, they don't all know this podcast,
- 40:02Speaker 2: so I don't know how that quite works. But share
- 40:05Speaker 2: this podcast, let everyone join the fun. And thank you
- 40:08Speaker 2: for joining us again this week. And yeah, don't forget
- 40:12Speaker 2: to put your tips in before Friday night. Yeah, massive
- 40:17Speaker 2: week in Perth this week. State of Orosian Rugby League
- 40:21Speaker 2: fever game on Friday night. Oh so exciting, very good.
- 40:24Speaker 2: Wish I was in the wild West, all right, guys,
- 40:26Speaker 2: I am about as far from the wild West as
- 40:28Speaker 2: I can possibly be while still being on the same planet.
- 40:30Speaker 2: So this is Carolyn Swiindell signing off from Vancouver.
- 40:35Speaker 1: See you later. This is cath Cox in sunny Sydney
- 40:37Speaker 1: and I'm going out right now to see if I
- 40:40Speaker 1: can track down Liz Ellis.
- 40:42Speaker 3: Have a great week everyone.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Thanks dear bye bye
