SPEAKER_00: Hi, everybody, it's Kim Hughes, and today we're going to talk about how you can incorporate affiliate marketing into your business to really take it to another level.
• 0:13
SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Unstoppable Real Estate Agents Podcast.
• 0:16
SPEAKER_00: I'm your host and real estate productivity expert, Kim Hughes.
• 0:21
SPEAKER_00: Join me as we focus on real strategies and implement real solutions designed for you to achieve major success in your business and life while getting you organized.
• 0:34
SPEAKER_00: So in today's world, there's so many ways that anybody can make extra money, no matter what they do.
• 0:41
SPEAKER_00: I mean, there's so many side hustles that are out there that are putting money into the bank accounts.
• 0:49
SPEAKER_00: And so I wanted to talk to you a little bit about how you can put a side business attached to your real estate business and how they would complement each other and help you build your bank account.
• 1:03
  SPEAKER_00: Okay.
• 1:04
SPEAKER_00: So with real estate, you're talking about everything to do with the home, the yard, everything.
• 1:11
  SPEAKER_00: Everything.
• 1:12
  SPEAKER_00: Okay.
• 1:13
SPEAKER_00: So now think about what you buy for your home: furniture, accessories, tools, you know, cooking uh utensils, bedrooms, bathrooms, dining room, living room, garage, outdoor, you know.
• 1:31
SPEAKER_00: So as a real estate agent, you have an opportunity here that is phenomenal.
• 1:38
SPEAKER_00: And that is affiliate marketing.
• 1:41
SPEAKER_00: Now, what do I mean by that?
• 1:42
SPEAKER_00: So affiliate marketing is only be it's it's basically, if you don't know, it's a company offers an affiliate link with that's dedicated to you.
• 1:53
SPEAKER_00: And if somebody clicks on that link and purchases it, you get a small commission.
• 1:58
SPEAKER_00: They do not, nobody pay, I mean, you're um the person that's purchasing, they do not pay for anything.
• 2:05
SPEAKER_00: It is just you building that connection between the consumer and the industry.
• 2:13
  SPEAKER_00: Okay.
• 2:14
SPEAKER_00: So kind of start thinking about because right now I I bet you're going, I do not have time for affiliate marketing.
• 2:21
SPEAKER_00: But let me tell you, you do, because when you do it and you do it right, it will probably make you more money than your real estate business if you do it right, you know, and you want to dedicate the time to build it out.
• 2:36
SPEAKER_00: But what I am showing you is complementing your real estate business because they already, you're the people in the community already trust you, right?
• 2:46
SPEAKER_00: They know you're in real estate, they know you're the authority, and they see you everywhere.
• 2:51
SPEAKER_00: So why wouldn't they trust you?
• 2:53
SPEAKER_00: So let's just take, hypothetically, a seller who's getting ready to put their home on the market, you're at their house doing a home review, and you're talking about the things that they should be doing in the home to update it.
• 3:06
SPEAKER_00: So let's just say maybe their dining table is an antique and it looks like an antique and it doesn't fit with the home.
• 3:15
SPEAKER_00: So they can take that table, put it somewhere else, storage, garage, wherever, and buy a new table.
• 3:22
SPEAKER_00: Well, when they do that, most likely they're buying it on the internet, Wayfair, Amazon, wherever.
• 3:30
SPEAKER_00: Why not include a link that you have given your consumer to purchase it?
• 3:36
SPEAKER_00: And then you make a little commission off of it.
• 3:39
  SPEAKER_00: That is so great.
• 3:40
SPEAKER_00: And it's it's being rewarded for what you're already doing and nobody's paying attention.
• 3:47
SPEAKER_00: So, what I would do is set up an account with Amazon as a content creator.
• 3:54
SPEAKER_00: And basically, what I would want you to do is to create a storefront and create categories, you know, so you could do living room, bathroom, pool, backyard, you know, um barbecuing, you know, anything that has to do with the home.
• 4:13
SPEAKER_00: Planting, baby, children, teenagers, mom is living with me, dad's living with me, you know.
• 4:20
SPEAKER_00: So these are the things that you can already show your clients what they need and make it easy on them to purchase, right?
• 4:31
  SPEAKER_00: So, so, so easy.
• 4:33
SPEAKER_00: And when you set up that storefront, then what you're gonna do is take that link that's dedicated to you, and then there you're gonna put that in your email signature, you're gonna put it on your website, you're gonna put it in your social media links, and you're gonna talk to your clients about it.
• 4:48
SPEAKER_00: You might even make up a little, you know, uh postcard or something that you can give to your clients that tells them, hey, when you're shopping on Amazon, shop through my exclusive link, you know, that kind of thing.
• 5:01
SPEAKER_00: And then when they are buying, whether they're buying toilet paper or a dining table, if they buy it through your link, you're gonna get a commission for that.
• 5:11
SPEAKER_00: And that is so simple.
• 5:13
SPEAKER_00: I mean, it didn't take you that long to build the store.
• 5:16
SPEAKER_00: But now let's say you want to take it to another level.
• 5:19
SPEAKER_00: So now you can go to Wayfair and sign up to be an affiliate with them.
• 5:24
SPEAKER_00: Wayfair is a huge um furniture, accessories for the home, etc.
• 5:31
SPEAKER_00: Why not put these links on your website?
• 5:34
SPEAKER_00: Create a page for the website that says uh shopping, and then you can put, you know, um a link to your Amazon, a link to your Wayfair, a link to your blog that talks about the product.
• 5:47
SPEAKER_00: So let's just say you bought new cookware, okay?
• 5:52
SPEAKER_00: You now can just demonstrate that cookware and why you love it.
• 5:57
SPEAKER_00: Do a little video, you can upload it to Amazon.
• 5:59
SPEAKER_00: So when people click on that link, they're gonna make a little money, you're gonna make a little money off of that.
• 6:04
SPEAKER_00: But if you put the link on your website, that's where they're gonna go.
• 6:09
SPEAKER_00: Oh, you know, I do need dining room furniture.
• 6:12
SPEAKER_00: Oh, I do need cookware.
• 6:14
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, you know what?
• 6:15
SPEAKER_00: I need new sheets, I need new towels, I need, you know, whatever, a lamp.
• 6:20
SPEAKER_00: And you can build that up.
• 6:22
SPEAKER_00: And I mean, if you just spent 15, 20 minutes a day doing that, you would have so much potential to earn extra money.
• 6:32
SPEAKER_00: And let me tell you what that's gonna do for you.
• 6:35
SPEAKER_00: So let's say right now where we are, the markets are very quiet.
• 6:39
SPEAKER_00: They're very calm, there's not a lot going on, agents are a little fancy, you know, it's like your pipeline is dead, you don't have any inventory, you don't know what's gonna happen.
• 6:51
SPEAKER_00: Well, set up your Amazon storefront and start pushing people to the storefront, and they will make, and you can make a commission that will build your income so that when the markets are slow and you don't have that income coming in like you normally do, then this will supplement it.
• 7:10
  SPEAKER_00: Okay.
• 7:11
SPEAKER_00: And then just think when the markets are doing great, you're supplementing because you're making a little extra money over here.
• 7:18
SPEAKER_00: Now, what do you do with that extra money that you were not counting on?
• 7:22
  SPEAKER_00: Okay.
• 7:23
SPEAKER_00: So I would put that in an emergency fund and build that up so that again, when the markets are quiet, you can tap, you know, tap into that, take a step back and not be so stressed out, not have so much anxiety because the checks are not coming in, the commissions are not coming in because but you're not stressed out because you have this little side business over here that's producing for you.
• 7:48
SPEAKER_00: Now, I have been doing this for a couple of years, been testing it, just kind of seeing if it really does work.
• 7:55
SPEAKER_00: And I'm gonna tell you that if you put forth the effort, it will make you money.
• 8:00
SPEAKER_00: Even if it makes you a couple of thousand a month, you know, that's money you can put in your bank account that took very little work.
• 8:08
  SPEAKER_00: Okay.
• 8:08
SPEAKER_00: So, what I want you to do is I want you to really think about this.
• 8:12
SPEAKER_00: Maybe you even take it over to your AI and you have a conversation about, you know, is this a good fit for me?
• 8:20
SPEAKER_00: You know, what products would my clients want to see?
• 8:23
SPEAKER_00: How would I build this and it and and have it as a secondary business, you know, that will benefit all my clients and have AI help you structure that.
• 8:33
SPEAKER_00: Now, I do have an affiliate marketing guide and it's a complimentary guide.
• 8:38
  SPEAKER_00: I'll link it below.
• 8:39
SPEAKER_00: That's going to help you get started.
• 8:41
SPEAKER_00: And then if you need more help, you just schedule a call with me.
• 8:45
SPEAKER_00: We'll jump on a call in, I'll help you out as much as I can.
• 8:47
SPEAKER_00: I am not an expert with affiliate marketing.
• 8:50
SPEAKER_00: I just know what I'm doing is working.
• 8:52
SPEAKER_00: What I've set up for some of my clients is working.
• 8:56
SPEAKER_00: Is it making them millions?
• 8:58
  SPEAKER_00: No.
• 8:58
SPEAKER_00: Is it making them a couple of hundred here and there and maybe a 500 and maybe a thousand?
• 9:03
  SPEAKER_00: Yes.
• 9:04
SPEAKER_00: So look at it that way.
• 9:06
SPEAKER_00: You know, if if you have some downtime, this is an opportunity where you can put that time to make an effort to do better for your future.
• 9:13
  SPEAKER_00: Okay.
• 9:14
SPEAKER_00: So kind of think about this, do a little work on it.
• 9:18
SPEAKER_00: Kind of think, do is this something that I want to do?
• 9:21
SPEAKER_00: Is it something that I would put forth the effort?
• 9:24
SPEAKER_00: Because just think when you have buyers that are moving into a new home, they need boxes.
• 9:31
SPEAKER_00: Where are they going to get them?
• 9:32
  SPEAKER_00: Order them.
• 9:34
SPEAKER_00: So when you have a buyer who's getting ready to make a major move, they are going to be on Amazon.
• 9:40
SPEAKER_00: They're going to be on Wayfair.
• 9:42
SPEAKER_00: They're going to be on these sites starting to buy.
• 9:44
SPEAKER_00: So why not guide them, make recommendations, and then have them buy through EuroLink?
• 9:51
  SPEAKER_00: Why not?
• 9:51
  SPEAKER_00: They're going to buy through somebody's.
• 9:53
  SPEAKER_00: So why not yours?
• 9:54
  SPEAKER_00: Right.
• 9:55
SPEAKER_00: So, like when you're on Instagram and you're following your favorite influencer and they're like, oh, I just bought my husband this and he loved it.
• 10:03
SPEAKER_00: And then they put a link.
• 10:05
SPEAKER_00: They're not telling you what he bought.
• 10:06
SPEAKER_00: He's not telling you what they love, but out of curiosity, you're clicking on that link to see what he bought, right?
• 10:13
SPEAKER_00: So what happens when you click on that link?
• 10:16
SPEAKER_00: That influencer, whoever's link it is, whether they're an influencer or just a little old somebody like me, but when you click on that link for 24 hours, that link is yours.
• 10:28
SPEAKER_00: So if they go in there and then they step out and they come back and they buy something, that goes under your commission.
• 10:35
  SPEAKER_00: Okay.
• 10:35
SPEAKER_00: So there's a lot to learn here, but at the same time, just to get you started would just really take you maybe a couple of hours to do a little research, decide how you want to do it, and then put it out there.
• 10:48
SPEAKER_00: And this is something that if you really gravitated to it, which I think is a fabulous idea, is to do a video on a product that you can put on your YouTube channel for your real estate clients.
• 11:02
  SPEAKER_00: Okay.
• 11:03
SPEAKER_00: So think of it this way: if if um you have a grill and you love this grill, you know, go to Amazon, get the link, talk about the grill, do a video on the grill, say, look, if you're getting ready to buy a new grill, this is the one that I would recommend to all my buyers and sellers that I have worked with over the last 20 years, right?
• 11:27
SPEAKER_00: And then you talk about the grill.
• 11:29
SPEAKER_00: And then you put it out there on your YouTube channel, and you're going to have a mixture of real estate, local content, and then what do buyers and sellers need to be buying in today's market to furnish their home, to make their lives better, you know, that kind of thing.
• 11:47
SPEAKER_00: You would be surprised, okay?
• 11:50
SPEAKER_00: I know that this sounds so crazy, but it is working.
• 11:55
SPEAKER_00: And I am so excited about this and how it can help real estate agents when the markets are down, but also when the markets are good, because you know, the more people you send there, the more people are going to buy through your link, and that's going to build your income.
• 12:12
SPEAKER_00: I'm very excited about this for real estate agents to tap into another source of income that doesn't take up a lot of time or effort, but has a huge impact on their community.
