- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Kiss Breakfast.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Mikey, have you ever heard of something called a flirting coach?
- 0:06Speaker 3: Oh, is that you flirting with me right now?
- 0:08Speaker 4: No.
- 0:09Speaker 2: So maybe you need to see one. Oh, we're about
- 0:11Speaker 2: to chat to Lizzie Lang. So she's a flirting coach
- 0:13Speaker 2: out of the UK. And how she got into this
- 0:16Speaker 2: is basically she saw a flirting coach herself. Yeah.
- 0:19Speaker 1: And then after success with that, decided to be one.
- 0:21Speaker 3: So I didn't realize there were so many Lizzie. Welcome along,
- 0:25Speaker 3: you big flirt.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Hello.
- 0:28Speaker 4: Hi, thank you so much for having me on the show.
- 0:31Speaker 2: So tell us about when you started seeing a flirting coach.
- 0:34Speaker 2: What made you think, I need to up my game
- 0:37Speaker 2: here and get better flirting skills?
- 0:39Speaker 4: Well, I had been on the dating apps for so
- 0:43Speaker 4: long and I just wasn't getting any results. It was exhausting.
- 0:48Speaker 4: I was wasting my time, my life. I was swiping
- 0:51Speaker 4: and having to come home and get changed and go
- 0:57Speaker 4: out again and repeat. And then one day, I went
- 1:00Speaker 4: on another date, the last date, and I thought to myself,
- 1:03Speaker 4: The definition of madness, Einstein said, was doing the same
- 1:06Speaker 4: thing over and over again and expecting different results. So
- 1:09Speaker 4: I was like, there has to be a better way.
- 1:12Speaker 2: So is this how you met your now husband, Owen,
- 1:15Speaker 2: from the skills that you learned from seeing that flirting coach?
- 1:19Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely. However, he approached me in the end. I
- 1:24Speaker 4: was in the bar doing my flirting skills. with tips
- 1:27Speaker 4: and tricks. But I was taught by my coach how
- 1:30Speaker 4: to present myself at the bar to be approachable.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Well, how is that? How does a woman, if a woman.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Is open to meeting someone new and they're out, what
- 1:38Speaker 2: should they be doing?
- 1:39Speaker 4: They should be centre of the room, not hiding in
- 1:43Speaker 4: a corner, not on their phone, looking approachable, friendly, because...
- 1:49Speaker 4: Guys are a little bit nervous to approach women.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Oh, we are. They don't want to be rebuffed. Do
- 1:53Speaker 3: you flick your hair and, like, twirl gum in your mouth?
- 1:56Speaker 1: And bat your eyelashes.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Is that a thing?
- 1:58Speaker 5: Like a headbab?
- 1:59Speaker 1: You smile.
- 2:00Speaker 4: You have an open posture.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:03Speaker 4: So you don't have your hands crossed. You're not looking
- 2:05Speaker 4: down at your phone. You're open, you're facing into the
- 2:08Speaker 4: centre of the room.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Yeah, looking like. Yeah, that makes sense.
- 2:12Speaker 2: I want to kind of get from you, what are
- 2:14Speaker 2: your top tips when it comes to, okay, the woman
- 2:17Speaker 2: has the man next to her, they're engaging in conversation,
- 2:20Speaker 2: what should she be saying or doing?
- 2:22Speaker 1: How should she flirt?
- 2:23Speaker 4: Touch.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Oh.
- 2:26Speaker 4: So a gentle touch of the hand or the back. Yeah.
- 2:31Speaker 1: The lower back, upper back?
- 2:33Speaker 3: Where are we talking?
- 2:33Speaker 1: We need specifics, Lizzie.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Well, if you're getting up to go to the loo
- 2:37Speaker 4: or go and get a drink, you just touch them
- 2:39Speaker 4: on the shoulder or on the lower back. Or if
- 2:42Speaker 4: you're laughing, you can reach over and go, ha, ha, ha,
- 2:44Speaker 4: and just touch their arm.
- 2:46Speaker 3: I've had that so many times, so I know what
- 2:49Speaker 3: you mean.
- 2:49Speaker 2: And what are the common mistakes that people are making
- 2:52Speaker 2: when they're trying to flirt?
- 2:53Speaker 1: What are things people should avoid?
- 2:55Speaker 4: You need to ask open-ended questions. So some people think
- 2:58Speaker 4: they're conversing, but they're actually just making statements.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Right.
- 3:02Speaker 4: And the other person then might not know how to answer.
- 3:05Speaker 4: The best question to ask is, what's your... What do
- 3:08Speaker 4: you think of? So what do you think of this bar?
- 3:11Speaker 4: And you use the place where you are as a prop.
- 3:13Speaker 4: What do you think of this cocktail? What cocktail would
- 3:15Speaker 4: you recommend?
- 3:16Speaker 2: As opposed to, do you like this cocktail?
- 3:19Speaker 1: Where really that's all you're asking for is, yeah, I
- 3:20Speaker 1: like it.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Now we've got our own Jackson.
- 3:22Speaker 5: He hit the streets to ask Aussies for their pickup lines.
- 3:27Speaker 5: I don't know whether a flirting coach likes pickup lines,
- 3:29Speaker 5: but we wanted to throw a few at you.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Yeah, before we get to the pickup lines, what are
- 3:33Speaker 1: your thoughts on them?
- 3:34Speaker 4: My husband's pickup line was, tonight you met a cheeky Australian.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Oh, so you're married to an Australian.
- 3:41Speaker 4: I am, yes.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Well, maybe some of these pick up lines will have
- 3:45Speaker 2: you swooning then. Let's get into the first one. We asked,
- 3:48Speaker 2: what do you call a girl that you've just met?
- 3:51Speaker 2: And this is what this person said.
- 3:53Speaker 3: A sugar plum. A princess. Probably beautiful.
- 3:56Speaker 6: Yeah. Their name.
- 3:57Speaker 4: A shorty man.
- 3:57Speaker 3: I call her shorty man, you know.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Baby.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Beautiful.
- 4:01Speaker 4: Baby.
- 4:02Speaker 3: My princess.
- 4:02Speaker 5: My girl.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Beautiful.
- 4:03Speaker 4: Beautiful.
- 4:05Speaker 3: I'll just call her by her first name. Honey? Okay, baby.
- 4:08Speaker 3: There's a lot of baby there.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Yeah, and there was a lot of beautiful.
- 4:10Speaker 2: So what do you think you should be calling someone
- 4:12Speaker 2: that you've just met to let them know, like, you know,
- 4:16Speaker 2: you're interested?
- 4:16Speaker 4: Oh, that's a good one. I don't know. If you've
- 4:20Speaker 4: just met them, you want to play it a little
- 4:22Speaker 4: bit cool, don't you? I would call them by their name.
- 4:26Speaker 5: Okay, we then asked, what is your best pick-up line?
- 4:30Speaker 3: Have a listen.
- 4:31Speaker 1: I'm not sure why I'm picking up the guy. That's
- 4:33Speaker 1: the guy's job.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Your hand looks heavy. Can I hold it for you?
- 4:35Speaker 3: If you were a vegetable, you'd be.
- 4:37Speaker 1: A cute cumber.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Hey, shorty, man. What are you doing, man? You're so fine, man.
- 4:41Speaker 3: You're the funniest shorty I've ever seen, man. Can you
- 4:43Speaker 3: get on my line?
- 4:43Speaker 2: Oh!
- 4:45Speaker 3: Are you from Japan? Because I want to see your panties.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Are you from Tennessee? Because I want to see your panties.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I just slipped on my knees falling for you.
- 4:52Speaker 3: There's a lot of panties there. What do you think, Lizzie?
- 4:55Speaker 4: Well, I always think a sense of humour is a winner.
- 4:58Speaker 4: So if you can make a girl laugh, then I
- 5:00Speaker 4: think you're in.
- 5:01Speaker 2: All right, we asked the boys, what's the best move
- 5:04Speaker 2: that you use to get a girl?
- 5:06Speaker 1: And this is what they said.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Buy him a drink. Vodka Red Bull. Probably buy her
- 5:10Speaker 3: a drink.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Buy her a drink.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Buy her a drink, man.
- 5:13Speaker 5: On the first date, you know, always knock on the
- 5:14Speaker 5: door and never get them to come down and text
- 5:16Speaker 5: them or anything.
- 5:17Speaker 3: And I'll say hi to the mum.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Be touchy, flirt a lot.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Put your hand around her.
- 5:21Speaker 5: Drive to her house, you know, I'll open up the
- 5:23Speaker 5: door for her and I'll give her a nice bunch
- 5:26Speaker 5: of flowers.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Maybe just stop talking, keep his mouth shut.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Oh!
- 5:29Speaker 4: Okay.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Any you like in there? I mean, a bit keen
- 5:31Speaker 3: buying flowers on day number one.
- 5:32Speaker 2: I think a lot of people said buy her a drink.
- 5:35Speaker 2: And then the one that I really liked was if
- 5:36Speaker 2: you're picking her up, go to the door.
- 5:38Speaker 3: I like that. Yeah, don't just text. I'm out the front.
- 5:40Speaker 3: What do you think, Lizzie?
- 5:41Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, that's nice. However, I think if it was
- 5:45Speaker 4: a stranger, I don't want a stranger hovering by my door.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:49Speaker 5: Now, interestingly, you were talking about being in the bar
- 5:52Speaker 5: and waiting for a man to come up to you.
- 5:55Speaker 5: So we asked, what's the best thing a girl can do?
- 5:59Speaker 5: To pick up a guy.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Let's see. Make eye contact.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Just go up to them, be confident.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Ask for his number. A subtle touch to the arm
- 6:05Speaker 3: or something. Whisper some freaky stuff in my ear. I'd say, honestly,
- 6:08Speaker 3: I don't get.
- 6:08Speaker 5: I feel like girls don't do enough anymore, so I
- 6:10Speaker 5: feel like I'd like to get a drink bought for
- 6:12Speaker 5: me once in a while.
- 6:13Speaker 3: I feel like it's their time. Maybe give him a hug.
- 6:16Speaker 3: What do you think? Can you buy a man a
- 6:17Speaker 3: drink or is that a no-no?
- 6:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's quite a bold move. Yeah, but... Yeah,
- 6:23Speaker 4: it is a bold move. Yeah, I do like it.
- 6:25Speaker 4: But I probably just... hover and be like, that's a
- 6:28Speaker 4: nice drink, or what would you recommend and see if
- 6:30Speaker 4: they offered? But yeah, I don't see why not.
- 6:32Speaker 2: So you're just standing there all night going, oh God,
- 6:34Speaker 2: I'm thirsty, and it's just not picking up on any
- 6:36Speaker 2: of the cues.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Oh, that'd be nice to have a drink.
- 6:39Speaker 5: It's really interesting stuff. You can follow Lizzie on Instagram.
- 6:43Speaker 5: It's IamLizzieLang. Thank you for joining us so much, Lizzie.
- 6:48Speaker 4: That was so much fun. Thank you for having me.
- 6:51Speaker 1: All right.
- 6:51Speaker 5: Hey, let's take your calls. Have you got a pick-up line?
- 6:54Speaker 5: I want to hear some awful ones.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to hear if there's any good pick-up
- 6:57Speaker 2: line where I'm actually like, that would work on me.
- 6:59Speaker 5: Yeah, 131065, do these even work? Have you got a
- 7:03Speaker 5: good pick-up line? Let's take your calls about that up next,
- 7:06Speaker 5: all right? Eminem playing now here on KISS. Hey, we
- 7:09Speaker 5: just had this flirting.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Coach on, right?
- 7:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:11Speaker 3: It's a coach for bloody everything.
- 7:13Speaker 2: I know, but basically her two big pieces of advice were–
- 7:17Speaker 2: Touch is very important. And also when you're out in
- 7:20Speaker 2: a room, make sure you look approachable. So no phone
- 7:24Speaker 2: in your hand. Just be standing there and.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Open, ready for people to approach you.
- 7:28Speaker 2: The other thing, though, she said is she didn't mind
- 7:30Speaker 2: a pickup line because her husband actually used a kind
- 7:33Speaker 2: of pickup line on her. So if you got a
- 7:35Speaker 2: good one, it may actually still work. So we thought 131065,
- 7:40Speaker 2: do you have a good pickup line that you say
- 7:43Speaker 2: works every time?
- 7:44Speaker 3: Here's Archie. Hey, man, what's your pickup line?
- 7:47Speaker 5: Hey, it is.
- 7:49Speaker 6: Are you a Wi-Fi router?
- 7:50Speaker 4: Because I'm feeling a really strong connection.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I don't know about that one, Archie. Has it worked
- 7:58Speaker 1: for you before? Really? Okay. Would you say you're an
- 8:02Speaker 1: attractive guy in general?
- 8:04Speaker 6: Oh, I wouldn't say that.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Are you good with the ladies normally, though?
- 8:09Speaker 6: I think the pickup line's so good.
- 8:10Speaker 4: Right.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Do you think it just maybe breaks the ice a
- 8:12Speaker 1: little bit? Exactly, yeah. Yeah, okay.
- 8:15Speaker 2: So maybe it's less about what they're saying and more
- 8:17Speaker 2: about just coming in with.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Confidence. Confidence, exactly. Paul, let's see yours. Hello, Paul.
- 8:22Speaker 6: How are you going?
- 8:23Speaker 3: Good, go for it, man. What's your pickup line?
- 8:26Speaker 6: Is your dad a mechanic? Because you are a machine.
- 8:30Speaker 3: Yeah, look. What is that?
- 8:33Speaker 1: You like that sound effect?
- 8:36Speaker 2: That worked on you more than it worked on me. Look,
- 8:39Speaker 2: it depends on the setting. That feels like a nightclub pick-up.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Line to me. Oh, yeah, a lot of them are. Wally, hey, Wally,
- 8:45Speaker 3: you're on air. Wally.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Yes, mate, how you going?
- 8:47Speaker 3: Yeah, good. What's your pick-up line?
- 8:50Speaker 1: Are you on Spotify? Because you're listed as the hottest single.
- 8:54Speaker 6: Oh.
- 8:58Speaker 3: I hate all of these. Jennifer, go on. Let's get
- 9:01Speaker 3: a chick one. I didn't know women needed to do this,
- 9:03Speaker 3: but go on.
- 9:04Speaker 6: This is actually my son who's 10 years old. It's
- 9:07Speaker 6: a bit sleazy, but he always says, is there a
- 9:10Speaker 6: shovel in your pocket? Because I'm digging that ass.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Why is that my favourite one so far? And it's
- 9:17Speaker 1: from your 10-year-old son. Why is he using pick-up lines?
- 9:21Speaker 1: Where did he hear that?
- 9:22Speaker 6: He says it to our family. He's not allowed to
- 9:25Speaker 6: say it anymore. I don't know where he got it from.
- 9:27Speaker 6: But I always think about it because it's so funny.
- 9:30Speaker 6: I think it will work for him in the future
- 9:31Speaker 6: because he's a funny kid. He's funny.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Did you start saying he's been saying it to family members?
- 9:38Speaker 6: He obviously doesn't really know what it means, but because
- 9:44Speaker 6: everyone laughs every time he says it, he's like, oh, yeah,
- 9:47Speaker 6: I'm a comedian.
- 9:48Speaker 3: He's a cheeky little bugger. I love it.
- 9:50Speaker 5: But I reckon that'll work. The ladies will like him
- 9:52Speaker 5: when he's older because he's got some cheek in him.
- 9:54Speaker 5: All right, Sebastian, what's yours?
- 9:57Speaker 6: Mine is.
- 10:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Mine is, you are what you eat, and by tonight,
- 10:04Speaker 3: I plan to be you. The boys in the background
- 10:11Speaker 3: are having a laugh, though. At least they're laughing.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Yeah, nah, that one's a hard pass for me.
