Floodwaters in Central Texas are forcing a massive animal rescue effort as Austin Pets Alive! takes in over 270 animals in just four days, racing to clear shelters so human communities can get the help they need. Teams are working nonstop across counties like Uvalde and Crystal City, pulling dogs and cats from flooded homes—including a kitten trapped in a birdcage—and evacuating a Uvalde shelter with 65 animals.
