- 0:00Guaranteed people will start calling me a Blizzard apologist
- 0:03when I have these takes, but if you go into a conversation and
- 0:09you don't believe a word coming out of their mouth, you're no
- 0:13longer having a conversation. Victory for the Forsaken.
- 0:17For Lauderon. For the Karen tour.
- 0:21For Pandaria. For calendar to the.
- 0:28Burning region for Gilneus. I have not died for the Lich
- 0:35King for the. Sindora for the alliance.
- 0:39For the Horde, for Azeroth. Hello and welcome back to
- 0:47another episode of For Azeroth. I am one of your hosts, the true
- 0:51villain, Manny, or just simply Manny.
- 0:53And of course, we are joined by the lovely Rhea.
- 0:56Rhea, how are you and how has Lex been treating you this week?
- 1:02She she doesn't have anything to say to you, Manny, OK.
- 1:05She had a lot to type, but all. Right.
- 1:07She has a lot to type, but she has nothing to say.
- 1:11No, she she's feeling like chewing on my desk.
- 1:13Does that help? OK, well then we'll we'll swap
- 1:17over to you. Lex.
- 1:18Lex, how are you and how's the World of Warcraft been treating
- 1:20you? I am good.
- 1:22I've gotten to play some alpha. We did not get IOTC last week,
- 1:25but we are very hopeful. We were consistently getting
- 1:27into phase three. It was kind of the type of thing
- 1:29where like frankly, I, I think we probably would have had it
- 1:31with a couple more polls, but we tried very hard not to be the
- 1:35like just because we have a bunch of parents and stuff.
- 1:37We try not to be like, oh, we can do it in a couple more polls
- 1:39cuz we want to stay up a little bit later.
- 1:41So my guess is knock on a lot of wood that we haven't this week.
- 1:46OK. I mean, well, this week there's
- 1:48an extra 3% power for those who are pushing the Rep.
- 1:53That means 12% overall. So that should definitely help.
- 1:56Actually, if you guys are locking out, are you getting the
- 2:01different, what are they called, ranks?
- 2:07So that is part of the issue we are thinking about right now is
- 2:11that we are, we are probably gonna still hold for Mondays for
- 2:14a while. We've been doing Mythic.
- 2:18We did Mythic plus last week. This week we did, we did heroic
- 2:22to because we wanted to get our cartel trips.
- 2:25But we have been encouraging the team to do LFR and that might
- 2:29become a consideration if I think as of now, it seems like
- 2:32most people are doing LFR on their off time to get up to
- 2:35those ranks and at least kind of keep up.
- 2:38But then that is part of the issue, right is that most of our
- 2:40team, not maybe not most, but a lot of our significant portion
- 2:43of our team really do have a limited amount of World of
- 2:46Warcraft time and are primarily playing on raid night.
- 2:49And so when we do lockout, we do have to think about that a
- 2:52little bit of like who we are potentially saying that, you
- 2:55know, subsection of our team is only going to do dementias for
- 2:59the next however many weeks. So I guess that is a quandary.
- 3:03Are you guys like going to police that at some point or is
- 3:08it just like a suggestion? Guys like this will definitely
- 3:11give us the the power we need and then let people go by carrot
- 3:16rather than whip. We have historically policed it
- 3:19and this is what I was talking about a little bit last week
- 3:21with if it feel if we're hitting a boss and it feels like I
- 3:27fundamentally do not understand how we are possibly supposed to
- 3:30get out through this because it's so painful and so
- 3:32overwhelming. That's when we start thinking
- 3:35it's a gear issue. It's a like a, you know, just a
- 3:37raw number issue and we need to start talking about whether or
- 3:40not we need to sit people to move forward right now because
- 3:43we're consistently getting into phase three.
- 3:45And it really feels feels like the issue is we've also been
- 3:47having just an absurd number of bugs.
- 3:49Like almost every time we do the flying section of Devencius.
- 3:53We've had one person get hard bugged out, which means we have
- 3:56to res them because they die, which means that we waste a
- 3:58battle of rez, which means that when we get into phase 3, when
- 4:00you really need to be able to pump that DPS, we are one battle
- 4:04of rez down. And somebody might have run
- 4:05through some somebody, I don't know, some Demon Hunter idiot
- 4:07probably ran through one of those stars that's dead without
- 4:10remembering that you're not supposed to do that.
- 4:12Who does that? Who fell rushes through those?
- 4:15We are just like if we we don't have that ability to push up the
- 4:18DPS. So because it doesn't feel like
- 4:20we're hitting a hard wall so much as we just really need to
- 4:23like clean things up and perfect them.
- 4:25We try not to sit people when it's dance versus numbers.
- 4:30All right, well, I I'm sorry to kept you waiting.
- 4:33Sean. I I know that you, unlike me,
- 4:37wait till you're introduced before saying anything.
- 4:39But hello Sean, How are you and how's the World of Warcraft
- 4:42treating you? Hi Manny, I'm doing great.
- 4:44Warcraft has been awesome on retail.
- 4:47I am shifted into full maintenance mode which basically
- 4:51means I'll be raid logging for the foreseeable future.
- 4:55As we are now into our this, this Thursday will be our first
- 4:58night of official farm. So assuming everything goes
- 5:01smoothly I I have no reason to believe it won't.
- 5:04It'll be just, I'll most likely just be raid logging on retail
- 5:08other than my remix dailies. I have hit Max item level on
- 5:11remix and I am now starting the power climb.
- 5:14I've also purchased all of the transmog, all of the mounts
- 5:17except for two, and most of the toys.
- 5:24And so I've been enjoying that. And so my so I'm actually now in
- 5:28like I've completed all the quests as well.
- 5:30So I'm now also in maintenance mode for remix so I'm literally
- 5:35just read. But remix raid logging means I
- 5:36still have to log in every day because it's every day.
- 5:39And I've mostly shifted in my focus into the alpha and testing
- 5:45add-ons. Trying to find add-ons to test.
- 5:48If you are an add on developer and you have an add on that you
- 5:50want tested on the alpha that you've been working on or one
- 5:54that you wrote for retail you want to see if it works on the
- 5:56alpha, shoot me a message. Jump into the discord at bit dot
- 5:59LY slash faz discord. Let me know I will test your
- 6:01add-ons. I've been spending my days on
- 6:05hunts for things that will allow me to reskin the cooldown
- 6:08manager mask works, but it doesn't fix the main major
- 6:15issues I have, which is you can't reduce the spacing to 0
- 6:20and you can't center center justify the icons they left or
- 6:25right justify. So if you have one with five and
- 6:27one with four, it looks awful. I don't.
- 6:31Yeah, it's. These are the major issues
- 6:34plaguing add-ons right now. Yeah, I mean, we're going to
- 6:36talk about the rest of the stuff later, but that's those are the
- 6:38things, the visual things I want to I want to look pretty right.
- 6:41You look good, you play good. So that's that's basically, but
- 6:43no, Warcrafts are treating me good.
- 6:44I've been feeling good about it and I'm I'm I wanted to say I'm
- 6:49ready for midnight, but we have a lot of work to do, so I'm not.
- 6:52What I am ready for is phase six of alpha, which was not on the
- 6:56road map but which was was announced to the add on
- 7:00developer Discord. I see, I see Well, I mean, I
- 7:05guess we should get right into it.
- 7:07Let's talk about these add-ons because Blizzard took the Time,
- 7:12Team two took the time to address add-ons and what
- 7:16Midnight is going to do to the combat add-ons.
- 7:19Now with this, they spoke about what their initial logic was for
- 7:25their API, how that was the most restrictive version.
- 7:28And then that the team had an expectation that the community,
- 7:33the the add on developers would come back with feedback and
- 7:37guide them to where they needed to loosen their restrictions.
- 7:40Which I'm going to say is the way you would do it in a
- 7:45professional environment where you start at a baseline and then
- 7:51you open up things because you are worried about security risk.
- 7:55However, I feel like in game development, in a development
- 7:59with a community like the World of Warcraft, this seems like
- 8:02something that needs to be explicitly communicated ahead of
- 8:07time so that they do not get the reaction that they got that they
- 8:11so that they do not. They do not 'cause the
- 8:19conversation to be so soured so fast.
- 8:22So I feel like Blizzard dropped the ball flat out in
- 8:25communication. This article that we're
- 8:27referring to in my mind is 3 to 4 weeks late.
- 8:32It should have been ahead of time and saying like, hey,
- 8:34you're going to be getting the the alpha.
- 8:37What you will find is this what we are looking for?
- 8:40Is this right? And going from there.
- 8:43But that said, Blizzard has been providing detailed technical
- 8:48updates to add on developers. We saw with weak ORS there was
- 8:55two weeks of videos of like this is what it is and This is why we
- 8:59can't do it. And then another one being like,
- 9:01they've made these changes but like this isn't good enough.
- 9:05And then afterwards we saw a different developers even
- 9:08showing like the notes that the layman probably has no
- 9:13understanding of, right, that Blizzard is putting forward to
- 9:16them. That shows not only what is
- 9:18coming up, what will be coming soon, and what's intended for
- 9:22the future as well. So there seems to be some
- 9:24communication. I just don't know how back and
- 9:28forth it is because obviously I'm not part of that
- 9:31communication. Not to be an eternal hater who
- 9:34can always pull the bat out of anything.
- 9:36That's good. There was a little bit of me
- 9:38when I read that post that was like, oh, you're doing the thing
- 9:41that like you're defender. Like I, I don't know, it felt
- 9:44like a lot of people were saying like, no, guys, maybe they're
- 9:48just going to like make it super tight now and then, like loosen
- 9:50it up later. And Blizzard's like, yeah, we're
- 9:53we're just like it. It was going to.
- 9:55We were always intending to do this, you guys.
- 9:56It wasn't like, it's not like we didn't understand what was going
- 9:59on and suddenly are startled by it.
- 10:01Because I agree, like it just it's so obvious to me that if
- 10:04this is what you were gonna do, the first thing you do is you
- 10:06write to the add on authors and be like, hey, guys, we're gonna
- 10:09start really tense, like really intense.
- 10:11We are gonna loosen restrictions.
- 10:13So don't, for example, make a major post the day after we tell
- 10:17people that a weak auras are gonna stay around saying the
- 10:19weak auras are gone. It's gonna be OK.
- 10:21We're gonna talk about it. We're gonna keep communicating.
- 10:23So it's either that they communicated so poorly that they
- 10:26missed a very obvious thing they needed to do if they were gonna
- 10:29start with the most stringent restrictions and loosen them, or
- 10:34this was what they wanted to do, like they they wanted really
- 10:36stringent restrictions. Everyone started freaking out
- 10:38and they are currently trying to backtrack to save face.
- 10:41And I don't know which one I'm more stressed about, but I don't
- 10:43really see a world where this was well done.
- 10:46I have a lot of feelings. I have a lot of feelings about
- 10:49this post and I'm trying to temper myself.
- 10:52This is a 15 paragraph post that they made and it isn't until the
- 10:5712th paragraph that we get any new information.
- 10:59All of all of what you just said, both of you the that
- 11:03Blizzard coming out. You know, obviously this
- 11:05communication should have happened weeks ago, but it did
- 11:08this if you go back and watch the first video that they did
- 11:11with Max and Ratnos where Ian breaks the news that we're going
- 11:14to be losing add-ons and then says don't worry, we're going to
- 11:17launch them simultaneously and ignore that part.
- 11:19But if you go back to that video where he announces what they're
- 11:22doing, he says in that video, their intention is to make it so
- 11:25that people can still reskin their offerings so that add-ons
- 11:29don't lose functionality for accessibility to the people.
- 11:31Like literally everything that the 1st 11 paragraphs of this
- 11:35post that came out is almost word for word what he says in
- 11:39that video from four months ago. So they're not telling us
- 11:43anything that we didn't already know and that they haven't
- 11:46already said and they've actually done nothing.
- 11:49We, I've said multiple times on the show, like it would be
- 11:52really great if we, if they would give us specifics.
- 11:55They keep saying, oh, combat related things, combat related
- 11:59stuff. But what does that mean?
- 12:00Does that mean I can't track my own, my own abilities?
- 12:03Does that mean that I can't change the name plate color of a
- 12:06different mob? Because right now I can't.
- 12:08Those those are locked out. You cannot do it.
- 12:10Anyway, this post is four months too late.
- 12:14It tells us nothing that they haven't already told us until we
- 12:17get to the portion about raid frames, which is a shining
- 12:21nugget in this post. Their their post they're,
- 12:24they're mentioning of raid frames.
- 12:25We're happy to talk about, but everything up to that point,
- 12:29there's like there's no, it's, it's literally just the same
- 12:32buzzwords. We're locking out combat
- 12:33abilities, add on abilities to make combat calculations for
- 12:37you. We expect that add-ons will be
- 12:39able to rescan stuff in the way that they want, which they've
- 12:40been saying since day one, which we're still not seeing come to
- 12:45full fruition yet. And it's still just, I just want
- 12:49somebody at Blizzard to tell us what functionality that we have
- 12:53now. Do you not want us to have so we
- 12:56can stop wasting our so we can stop I almost said the F word so
- 13:00we can stop wasting our energy on it because I'm tired of
- 13:03asking for the ability to change the colour of a nameplate based
- 13:07on the mob type. If you're never planning to give
- 13:09it to us, just tell us you're not going to give it to us and I
- 13:12can move on. But if I if we don't know and we
- 13:16don't because all this says is we don't want you to be able to
- 13:18have combat calculation functionality, but we do want
- 13:21you to be able to customize the look.
- 13:24Give us a specific please. I beg you.
- 13:28Somebody tell us something of substance, OK?
- 13:31The raid frames look great. I can't wait till we talk about
- 13:33those. OK.
- 13:35I will say from what they have put out that something like
- 13:41being able to have lieutenants or casters categorically
- 13:49distinguished on nameplates, whether that be that, that all
- 13:52casters have a different color, whether that be lieutenants have
- 13:57additional markings to show that they are lieutenants.
- 13:59That seems like something from what they have said that would
- 14:03not be allowed with the with their goals, because that that
- 14:08would be looking into unit IDs, interpreting something that is
- 14:13considered a secret value. And so from what I've read on
- 14:17this, and I only have like barest technical knowledge, I
- 14:20don't think that's that's something that is intended to
- 14:25happen. Now, obviously they've gone back
- 14:27on some things that that previously didn't look like they
- 14:30were going to happen, right. So again, we're back to that
- 14:34guessing game that you hate you hate so much.
- 14:37That said, what they have put forward after multiple
- 14:41paragraphs is some new information about the things
- 14:44before we get to rate frames. I do believe that one thing that
- 14:48they should have said previously that they added into it was the
- 14:51focus on accessibility. This is something that wasn't
- 14:54really in the conversation many months ago.
- 14:57I believe that that was in April that came into here.
- 15:01There was a focus on text to speech so that you wouldn't be
- 15:06relying on visual cues to track all the addons, or rather all
- 15:11the cooldowns. Those cooldowns, of course, are
- 15:14much less because of the pruning, though.
- 15:16You've seen them attack that from different directions and
- 15:21there are a number of ways for you to get alerts on that.
- 15:24So gaining stacks of of an ability or it coming off of
- 15:29cooldown or it reaching the pandemic window or a number of
- 15:33different things. You can get either through text
- 15:37to speech or through various alerts.
- 15:39Going through those alerts on the alpha, they are pretty
- 15:42limited in terms of like what sounds you can get their stuff
- 15:48from Warcraft three, Warcraft 2, which are like games from nearly
- 15:5220 years ago and therefore didn't have the largest catalog
- 15:59of sounds. And even still I don't think
- 16:01that there is all of them. I really want them to open that
- 16:05up so that so that you can have very distinctive sounds instead
- 16:09of four different animal noises that I have to recognize which
- 16:12animal that is. Go ahead, not to be an eternal
- 16:16hater that can always spin the negative out of a positive, but
- 16:18I don't think you can call it a focus on accessibility when you
- 16:21didn't talk to a disabled person until they made a very popular
- 16:25post on Reddit. Like that's not a focus on
- 16:27accessibility, that's like, oh shit right, we told everyone we
- 16:30were focusing on accessibility, we have to do that.
- 16:32Like I just feel like they're saying everything way too late
- 16:35for it to matter. So there was a conversation in
- 16:40the FAZ the like the conversation between the three,
- 16:44three of us that wasn't public and it was somewhat related to
- 16:48this in terms of who is in the room and and who is speaking to
- 16:53to issues, but it wasn't talking about accessibility.
- 16:55And we call it the Faz universe. I'm sorry to interrupt you, but
- 16:58I think we should at this point we're, I think we're big enough
- 17:01that we can call it the Faz verse.
- 17:03So the conversation was between the three of us, not the broader
- 17:07FAZ community, the FAZ universe as you're calling it.
- 17:11And there is obviously a, there should be a priority, there
- 17:18should be a, a goal to get knowledgeable, experienced
- 17:26voices in the room whenever you're dealing with, with
- 17:28something, right. And there was a conversation
- 17:31about people who aren't knowledgeable or don't have
- 17:36experience how they should de prioritize their own voices.
- 17:42Right to the point. Another conversation you're
- 17:45talking. About, you know the point,
- 17:47right? Yeah, to the point where it was
- 17:48like if I don't have experience in a category, my opinion is
- 17:55basically invalid. Now there was a there was a push
- 17:59back about how invalid or if it is so binary.
- 18:03But some of this stuff could have been worked on based on
- 18:08previous work in that space, right?
- 18:12And previous advice that they have been given, right, without
- 18:18somebody giving them fresh advice in that space.
- 18:21So I don't want to say just because they didn't have people
- 18:25from Undaunted, because Undaunted, Undaunted was part of
- 18:27that thread in the short term that they started working on the
- 18:30these features does not mean that people with the with
- 18:35similar experience to those in an Undaunted hadn't given them
- 18:39stuff to inform them. Now they're pulling in
- 18:42Undaunted, which is objectively better.
- 18:46And they should have pulled in people with experience in both
- 18:53World of Warcraft and with different capabilities in terms
- 18:58of vision, in terms of hearing, in terms of just capability,
- 19:02because that is objectively better to have that confluence
- 19:07of experiences to inform them when they're doing this.
- 19:12And so I'm glad that they're doing it now.
- 19:14But again, we're worried about time limit when they are rushing
- 19:17towards a release sometime early next year.
- 19:21That's fair. And I guess to be honest, I
- 19:22started this entire conversation saying I don't know which one
- 19:24would be worse if they're like, you know, just really bad at
- 19:27communicating or lying to us. And I think I think one of my
- 19:33biggest frustrations with the World of Warcraft team right now
- 19:36is I just feel like chronically gaslit by them.
- 19:41Like I kind of do wish that one of them like did somebody.
- 19:44And Ian has said similar things, but he's kind of like masked it
- 19:48in professional language. I want a member of Blizzard to
- 19:51just come out and be like, hey, guys, we really did not realize
- 19:54how big it was going to be to take on add-ons.
- 19:55And we're kind of stuck in it right now.
- 19:57But we're really, we understand it's been stressful and we we
- 19:59didn't know what we were doing early on and we're kind of
- 20:02scrambling a little bit. And so if it feels like we're a
- 20:05little overwhelmed right now, it's because we're a little
- 20:07overwhelmed right now and we're doing our best and we're trying
- 20:09to play catch up. Or if somebody would come out
- 20:11and say. That to me, I would be like, OK,
- 20:13at least we're getting somewhere, right?
- 20:14At least I actually know that I can trust you when you're speak
- 20:16versus if you put out a thing where you're like, oh, yeah.
- 20:19We always knew you guys were going to be really mad about
- 20:23this and we were just waiting for your feedback, which is why
- 20:25we didn't tell anyone that we wanted feedback and the things
- 20:28were going to change. And also, like we always knew
- 20:31accessibility was going to be a good a big thing and we're
- 20:33really focused on it, which is why we didn't start bringing
- 20:36people in until after we got yelled out on Reddit.
- 20:39Like I just don't believe I believe you anymore.
- 20:42And any, any of these things could be true, right?
- 20:44Like it very well could be true that that was their plan all
- 20:47along to get feedback and they just didn't communicate it well.
- 20:49It could be super true that they have been having really in depth
- 20:52conversations about accessibility and they just
- 20:54become obvious to me. But they've been doing this to
- 20:56me for so long that at this point when they say something,
- 20:59I'm like, all right, what's next?
- 21:00Like I just don't believe them anymore.
- 21:02They have lost my trust. And I feel like you don't
- 21:05appreciate snarky Lex as much as I do.
- 21:10I deal with I deal with not snarky Lex, but customer faith
- 21:17and integrity a lot. There becomes a point where
- 21:22people just believe you're talking in bad faith and it's
- 21:26impossible to hold a conversation anymore.
- 21:30People will guarantee people will start calling me a Blizzard
- 21:34apologist when I have these takes.
- 21:38But if you go into a conversation and you don't
- 21:42believe a word coming out of their mouth, you're no longer
- 21:45having a conversation, right? There is there is no way that
- 21:49they can convince you unless they are placating you.
- 21:52And I do not want to be placated, right?
- 21:56I would rather that I scrutinize and criticize everything that
- 22:03comes out of Blizzard's mouth for the grain of truth that I
- 22:07want to believe is there. Then to say everything they're
- 22:10throwing at me is lies. And that's hard.
- 22:13Sometimes that's really hard when you see frustrating things
- 22:17coming. I think that if you had your
- 22:20wish, Lex and somebody came out and said, oh man, this was a lot
- 22:23more than than we thought it would be, and we're really
- 22:27struggling right now. You wouldn't get the reaction
- 22:31that you're hoping for. The it's you would get people
- 22:36who are also thinking that Blizzard is like eternally
- 22:40gaslighting, use that as ammunition and go further than
- 22:45you would blacks, because I believe you're you're a
- 22:48reasonable person, right? And that's not me gaslighting
- 22:50you. That's just the general truth of
- 22:52it, right. But there are people who are
- 22:54just bad faith that are going to be like, yeah, Blizzard doesn't.
- 22:56It has never know what they're talking about.
- 22:57Now they're finally admitting it.
- 22:58And I've heard this and this and this and then you.
- 23:00And then because you have now said, you know what, guys, we
- 23:04were lying. You, you throw out any chance
- 23:08of, of, of truth, right? I think that if you after the
- 23:12fact, you go, you know what? Look, thinking back and there
- 23:15were these conversations and that, and we decided to go, go
- 23:18like this. And this is where it went
- 23:20through. There's a time for that, but I
- 23:24don't think it's the time right now.
- 23:25It's a question of tact at this point, right?
- 23:30And so like, like you have to be honest.
- 23:34I have a solution, FAS dev. FAS dev, you can send us Adm if
- 23:38you're already in the discord at bit dot LY slash fas discord,
- 23:41you can message any one of us and just say, yo, it's a lot.
- 23:45That's all I got to say. Just let us know.
- 23:47Hey. Oh yeah, it's a lot.
- 23:49Message me personally, I will. I'll 100% start.
- 23:52Everyone call me a blessed apologist if you're like, kind
- 23:55of. Nice to me yeah that's right.
- 23:57All it takes is for FAZ there to send like 1 message that says
- 24:01it's a lot. And, and really anybody listen
- 24:03if you're in the if you're part of the FAZ, you if you're a FAZ
- 24:06head and you want to make Lex happy, just send her a message
- 24:09from the discord that says it's a lot.
- 24:11In fact, all listeners who are in the FAZ Discord, I would like
- 24:14all of you to message Lex. Just send her Adm 2 words. 3
- 24:19words. It's a lot if you say if.
- 24:22It's hyphenated and you say it's a lot.
- 24:25I think you can squeeze. At it.
- 24:26That's, that's the goal. OK.
- 24:27Fazz Fazzies. Fazz heads.
- 24:29Fazz. Faz folk.
- 24:30Oh my goodness. Fazzers.
- 24:31Is about to be bombarded by the. Fazzers send Lex and the amateur
- 24:35says it's a lot so that Lex knows that you know, and that
- 24:39maybe one of you is Fazdev, and then we'll really never know the
- 24:42truth. No marriage proposals don't send
- 24:44that's weird that don't do that, that's weird.
- 24:46Just here, keep those public on the YouTube.
- 24:51That said, go ahead. So yeah, so in in seriousness
- 24:54that that is a fairpoint. I think my immediate
- 24:57counterpoint is like, yeah, and whose fault is it that I don't
- 24:59trust Blizzard anymore? Like, it's not mine.
- 25:02I wasn't the one making shit up. But that's sorry.
- 25:04I'm I'll stop. You're assuming that they're
- 25:06making you're, they're making stuff up again.
- 25:09That's like part of like what's happened.
- 25:11Like there's this like loss of faith in any, in any of the
- 25:16communication. And therefore, like the the
- 25:20conversation is you going like, what are you going to lie to me
- 25:22about this time? So even if there is something in
- 25:26there that's true, or if it's like, hey, we're going to share
- 25:29this with you early and then we're going to change your mind,
- 25:32then you're going to think, hey, when they change their mind,
- 25:34they're lying to us. That's fair.
- 25:36I mean, I, I, I, I can't stop thinking about this time last
- 25:39expansion when all three of us were like so over the moon with
- 25:42everything Blizzard was doing and getting really, really hype
- 25:45and talking about how we and, and like scolding and
- 25:49reprimanding people who we felt online were being unfair and not
- 25:52giving them good faith. And so there's a love.
- 25:54Like, it's not like Blizzard is not capable of having my faith,
- 25:58but trust is built slowly and lost quickly.
- 26:01And, and like, I hear what you say that like maybe I, I am
- 26:05assuming bad faith and I've been, you know, I mean, I know I
- 26:08am assuming bad faith. Maybe I've been assuming bad
- 26:10faith for longer than I should have been.
- 26:13And I've been like suspicious of Blizzard for a while.
- 26:17You know, that's become part of my, you know, persona.
- 26:21I suppose on the show is always assuming the Blizzard is
- 26:24overworking their employees, for example.
- 26:27But yeah, yeah. And like, I guess ultimately
- 26:30also who cares what I think, right?
- 26:32Like, they're going to do what they're going to do.
- 26:33And I can yell into the void to the best of my ability, but
- 26:36like, they can do it and they can delete the game.
- 26:40They can delete the game tomorrow.
- 26:41And there's nothing I could do about.
- 26:42It. They would never do that, Lex.
- 26:44If they were going to delete the game, they would do it alongside
- 26:46another game to replace it. It would never happen all at
- 26:49once, like a Band-Aid right off. They wouldn't stop one thing
- 26:54without having something else already ramped up and to replace
- 26:57it and some time together. Yeah, they're, and they're gonna
- 27:00make sure that they talk to the other game developers, like
- 27:02really carefully because they understand they have a lot of
- 27:04information that Blizzard, World of Warcraft doesn't have before
- 27:07they delete the game. Exactly Manny.
- 27:10I also. I also feel like you don't
- 27:12appreciate snarky Sean enough. No, no, it's, it's a, it's a,
- 27:15it's a, it's a conspiracy. They have like timed this
- 27:20perfectly with the release of fellowship.
- 27:22So that and they've been like putting like putting their own
- 27:25personal money in. So like when fellowship blows
- 27:28up, their stocks are going to go like through the roof.
- 27:30Blizzard employees. They're they're screwing you
- 27:32over and you're falling for it. All of you.
- 27:34ANYWAYS, back to a back in serious conversation.
- 27:38But just for the record, I like Snarky Manny too.
- 27:40I just like snark. Dude we should start a snark
- 27:42podcast. We're just mean.
- 27:45Yeah. So OK, I would like, if you
- 27:50actually care what Lex says, feel free to message her so that
- 27:53she doesn't keep saying nobody cares what she likes or what she
- 27:57thinks about because I'm tired of hearing about it.
- 28:00Maybe you are too. That said, they went through and
- 28:05they did healing frames, raid frames and the updates on that.
- 28:10And that is something that showed up right after we
- 28:12finished the recording in the last episode with a bunch of new
- 28:15information. Now this is an iteration.
- 28:20This only shows one version. There are apparently 3 versions
- 28:23coming out. But it is a step in the right
- 28:27direction. And hopefully, with additional
- 28:29feedback, we'll get further iteration on that.
- 28:32Sean, tell us about this. OK, so they're redoing the raid
- 28:36frames, just what Manny said. It looks first, offering looks
- 28:40good. Now what we are looking at, if
- 28:41you're reading the article, which you can find I assume in
- 28:43the show description or online Google Wow raid frames or
- 28:49something. I don't know how Google works
- 28:51obviously, but the image they showed is a Photoshop.
- 28:55So this is not in game functioning.
- 28:57It is a Photoshop. There are a couple of very clear
- 29:00signs that it is a Photoshop #1 being that all of the characters
- 29:04are named after Brazilian soap stars #2 is that there is a
- 29:10healer hunter who's marked as a healer, which isn't a
- 29:14possibility. Which does consume a little bit
- 29:19back up through like whatever levels of review.
- 29:23Yeah, that's a hunter. That's a hunter cuz which one
- 29:26the. Light greens.
- 29:27Felix yeah, on the right hand. Oh, Yep, Yep, Yep.
- 29:31Yep, Yep. But it looks great.
- 29:32It's a good first offering. So they've addressed some things
- 29:34that they're they and they specifically mentioned that
- 29:36they're pulling from some very popular raid frame add-ons.
- 29:40I have to assume cell because they're using a cell like
- 29:43overlay to show how poisons look.
- 29:47So they have, there's a raid raid frame glow and then like an
- 29:51opaque overlay and then an icon in the top right corner when
- 29:54somebody has a dispel on them. In this case it's poison.
- 29:57We don't see any other types other than poison, but I have to
- 30:00assume that a curse would be purple, a magic would be blue or
- 30:03something like that. That's a great change, very
- 30:06positive. They have said they're going to
- 30:08highlight and make bigger to indicate tank swap mechanics,
- 30:13which is great if I'm forced to use the raid frames to identify
- 30:20tank swap mechanics. But if I am forced to use the
- 30:24raid frames to identify tank swap mechanics, I'll probably
- 30:26stop playing Warcraft. I would really really like for
- 30:30an option if that's the only way to do it.
- 30:32Right now every tank that's any good uses a week or other tracks
- 30:35Their tanks, their code tank stacks of whatever D buff it is.
- 30:39If we lose that ability, we need to have some way to pop out
- 30:41specific frames from the raid frames which they don't mention,
- 30:44but that's feedback that they can use because no tank is
- 30:47staring at raid frames trying to find out how many stacks our
- 30:49code tank has. But that's one change we're
- 30:52making. They are putting all of our
- 30:53buffs and stuff in places so it it looks it looks good.
- 30:57There is one thing I want to call out which looks to be an
- 31:00out of. So right now it already you
- 31:02could already have frames grey out that are out of range, but
- 31:05this looks to be showing a line of sight indicator.
- 31:09And honestly, this article came out October 23rd, so seven days
- 31:16ago, six days ago as of this recording.
- 31:19And everybody on the planet has theorized that that I with a
- 31:25line through it is a line of sight indicator to say that this
- 31:28person is not just out of range, which great, a great out raid
- 31:32frame now means out of range. But this has an eye with a line
- 31:35through it. Everybody that I know has
- 31:38surmised that to mean it's a new line of sight indicator which
- 31:41doesn't currently exist. And if it's not if, if, if it
- 31:46has been guessed and theorized for six days that this is a line
- 31:51of sight indicator and it's not, and Blizzard hasn't come out to
- 31:55say, hey, no, no, say hey, we hear you.
- 31:57And we know that that would be awesome.
- 31:58That technology doesn't exist. It just means they're out of
- 32:00range. If they haven't corrected people
- 32:03and it's not a line of sight indicator, you're going to have
- 32:06a lot of very angry people, a lot of angry healers.
- 32:10I would love. I think it should be both.
- 32:13I think it should be that through either line of sight or
- 32:16range. You can't target this person.
- 32:19Just put it as one symbol that covers both.
- 32:21Yeah, that works, but everybody has it like so right now the way
- 32:24RAID frames work, grayed out is out of range and there is
- 32:28nothing for line of sight. Having that eye on there and not
- 32:32just grayed out has made people think, oh, hey, this means line
- 32:35of sight if it's still no line of sight, because if somebody is
- 32:39in range but out of line of sight, they're fully they look
- 32:41like they can be healed. So I'm just saying that after
- 32:44six days of people celebrating what looks to be new
- 32:47functionality, if it hasn't been like clearly corrected from
- 32:51Blizzard to say, hey, that's not what this is.
- 32:53It's going to be really it's going to be a blood path when it
- 32:55find when it comes out that it's not what it is, but they look
- 32:59great. So still some concerns.
- 33:01It's it's a good, it's a really good starting point.
- 33:04The the overlays for dispels is really nice.
- 33:07The locked in positions for buffs and debuffs, which they
- 33:11state in here where those go. That's also really nice to have
- 33:15there. But there it's not this is not a
- 33:17finished product. They're going to have three
- 33:18different versions of this. But we, we still want to see
- 33:23because right now it said people will be able to add-ons will be
- 33:26able to manipulate where things are in the frames.
- 33:30But that doesn't solve the problem of we desperately,
- 33:33desperately, desperately need to be able to select what buffs and
- 33:37debuffs are shown in these frames.
- 33:40Please, please, please let us do that.
- 33:43I don't need to see, you know, that somebody has sated for the
- 33:49next 9 minutes on their frame. I don't need to see that.
- 33:52I don't need to see that, you know, their Hearthstone is on
- 33:54cooldown or whatever. Like actually, I don't think
- 33:57it's a debuff, but I just let us whitelist and blacklist buffs
- 34:02and debuffs please. That is so important on
- 34:04everything. Like not just the raid frames on
- 34:07the cool down manager, on the name plates.
- 34:09That's my number one ask for everything you're doing,
- 34:12Blizzard, let us select give us that choice because I mean,
- 34:17there's lots of examples outside of raid frames I want to get
- 34:19into. But like the outbreak with Death
- 34:22Knight Luxtos was just talking about it today on Twitter how if
- 34:24you don't have a certain thing talented, there's no reason to
- 34:26track outbreak, but you're still tracking it.
- 34:28And so it's just a pointless information anyway, the rate
- 34:31frames look good. It's a good starting point, but
- 34:34we're in phase five. We know there's a phase 6 coming
- 34:37of the alpha. We don't know if yet if there's
- 34:39a phase seven this much. Like the damage meters, much
- 34:42like the debuff tracking, much like the external defensives, is
- 34:46not yet functional in the game, that's not implemented.
- 34:49Much like sound alerts on boswangs, not yet implemented.
- 34:54I would really like to be able to test some of the stuff and
- 34:56not just look at a picture of it that was done up by AUI guy or
- 34:59girl person. AUI person.
- 35:02But while we are waiting, the carnage continues.
- 35:07We have seen a number of additional add on developers say
- 35:12that they are pausing support for many popular add-ons.
- 35:16So we will see how quickly Blizzard can get it up to the
- 35:21point where they get some of those that support.
- 35:25But obviously we core said before LVUI now has said that
- 35:31they they don't believe they can do support going forward.
- 35:37There have been additional information put out to the devs
- 35:41that show stuff that is coming with the phase five that we just
- 35:44got this week that is coming with the reported phase six that
- 35:48Sean alluded to earlier that we haven't seen an official
- 35:52confirmation on and beyond that. But at this point, I know the
- 36:01conversation about add-ons has sort of overshadowed everything.
- 36:04But this is a big reason why even if you are not currently in
- 36:11the alpha, you should still get feedback, feedback in.
- 36:16If you see, and you're like, OK, I won't have this.
- 36:21It is fair to have your perspective go onto the forum,
- 36:24say like, hey, like I use this for this reason, or I can't do
- 36:29this without this. Like all of that is information
- 36:32and let Blizzard sort it out because they asked for it.
- 36:36It's their job to to sort it out.
- 36:38With that said, let's let's move on.
- 36:41We have heard some other unconfirmed rumors which kind of
- 36:45got a click bait title from our dear friends at Wowhead.
- 36:51The Windows Central website speculated about the power of
- 36:58the next Xbox. It was them going off of some
- 37:03statements and as well as some of their own insider sources to
- 37:11talk about what the next Xbox will be capable of, what they
- 37:15think it will be capable of, and what that might mean for various
- 37:19functions of this console. And of course, 1 of it was that
- 37:24this new Xbox is basically going to be a PC, a set PC in a
- 37:29package that they sell as an Xbox.
- 37:33And that means that it will be able to run anything that APC
- 37:38should be able to add, including various game store fronts like
- 37:42the Steam game front, Epic Store, and of course important
- 37:46to us, the Blizzard Battle.net. If they can do that, that means
- 37:51they're going to be able to download and run World of
- 37:55Warcraft. But that doesn't mean like was
- 37:59somewhat suggested and all over the Internet was there that Wow
- 38:03was being reworked. They knew this was coming.
- 38:06Wow was being reworked for consoles.
- 38:08Congratulations, all those conspiracy theorists.
- 38:10You are finally proven right now.
- 38:12It's just that the next Xbox is APC that they're naming Xbox and
- 38:17so therefore it should be compatible with Wow.
- 38:20But yeah, this was a fun, like, I think it was an afternoon of
- 38:25people just going absolutely wild.
- 38:28And in the show notes, I have literally linked just Wow and
- 38:33consoles as a Twitter search, and you can see some of the wild
- 38:38things that people were saying. It was great.
- 38:41The Internet pundits did not disappoint.
- 38:45Lex, if you could get Wow on your console, how happy would
- 38:50you be? So I'm one of the people who was
- 38:53dooming a little bit when this came out because.
- 38:56So I was saying that I did not want World of Warcraft to be a
- 39:00console game because I thought that changing it to reworking it
- 39:04in a way that would make it accessible on consoles would
- 39:07ruin a lot of what made World of Warcraft fun for me.
- 39:09And I do not play on consoles for a reason.
- 39:12And one of my friends very nicely in an attempt to calm me
- 39:14down, said, oh, but Lex, you play Final Fantasy and Final
- 39:18Fantasy is also console accessible.
- 39:19Do you think it's a worst game because it's console accessible?
- 39:23And in that moment, I hadn't really thought I, I don't know
- 39:26if I didn't realize or hadn't thought deeply about it, but I
- 39:29didn't, had not really mentally processed that Final Fantasy was
- 39:32a console game. And I suddenly understood all of
- 39:34the things I hate about Final Fantasy.
- 39:36And I'm like like, oh, that's why the mechanics suck.
- 39:41That's why fight design is terrible, which I'm so sorry.
- 39:44If you're a final fancy person, you're like, wow, I did not come
- 39:46into for Aseroth expecting my Yum to be yucked.
- 39:50Forgive me. I'm glad that you like your gum.
- 39:52I think it's icky. I I, yeah, I am getting a little
- 39:58bit convinced by my friends that World of Warcraft is being
- 40:02worked for consoles. I don't know anything about game
- 40:05development, so I don't know if that's true.
- 40:06They've just very much talked me into that side.
- 40:09But I I don't know how game devs work.
- 40:11I don't know any of that stuff. But I hope it's not because I
- 40:14don't think that MO mechanics are fun on consoles.
- 40:18I think that is bad. This is again, because it is
- 40:21APC, this allows them to avoid a lot of the hoops that they would
- 40:27have to jump through to get all those sort of things onto this
- 40:32system. So that means like all those
- 40:34PlayStation exclusives that have come out to PC, well now they
- 40:37can be run on this Xbox through this roundabout way.
- 40:41If you've played on Steam OS, which can like backlog into the
- 40:49Linux that it's running on or they have those, I forget what
- 40:55the company is, you know what it's in the notes.
- 40:57It is the Xbox Ally and like a number of companies have that.
- 41:02There's the RG Ally and so forth.
- 41:04But it is basically a glorified Steam Steam deck.
- 41:09It's a quote UN quote console first.
- 41:12So you boot and you play and you it goes right into your library
- 41:16and you pick the game and you get to play.
- 41:17Play your game off of it. The controls are typically
- 41:21preset to be compatible with compatible games, but you can
- 41:25play incompatible games, but you'll have to do a little bit
- 41:28more work to set up the controls.
- 41:30You can put various things onto that that aren't necessarily
- 41:35meant for meant for it, but are just compatible with the base
- 41:40hardware that's running in the background.
- 41:42The Xbox would be much the same way, and that's why it allows
- 41:46you to play Wow on there, but it doesn't mean that you're going
- 41:49to be able to properly do half the things that you want to do
- 41:54on Wow, especially on such a small screen.
- 41:57I would hate to raid on an ally with a screen about that big
- 42:01that would have to be hooked up to ATV or something to get the
- 42:06details I want. Yeah.
- 42:07And if that's the direction, if it's, if it's more that like,
- 42:09oh, they're making the Xbox more of APC, so hype like, which is
- 42:11what I, I want to say. I understand that's what they're
- 42:13saying in the Wowhead article. I think that's great.
- 42:15I if, if they were testing, because they did very explicitly
- 42:20state you can play World of Warcraft through Battle.net.
- 42:22And if, if that was them testing the waters to see how World of
- 42:25Warcraft players would feel about World of Warcraft being
- 42:27reworked to be played on a console, I feel bad about that.
- 42:30Don't do it. I don't want you to do it.
- 42:34Please don't don't worry about no thank you or at the very
- 42:39least, don't you know, design your mechanics for PC players.
- 42:44If the if the console players want to play the video game and
- 42:47they want to turn on single button mode and they want to be,
- 42:50you know, struggle with mechanics, more power to you,
- 42:52but design it as APC game and who knows?
- 42:55I don't know. I don't know how dev I I don't
- 42:57know if it's true that the reason they put in single button
- 43:00mode was because they were planning on making it go to
- 43:01consoles eventually. Do I look like I understand how
- 43:04to develop a video game? That's my take.
- 43:07I I want to throw it to Sean, but also I do want to say that
- 43:10like people who are running a Steam Deck have been playing Wow
- 43:14on the Steam Deck already. Like I believe content creator
- 43:18Mr. GM has done like even tutorials about how you can set
- 43:21that up. So like it is possible now, but
- 43:25obviously that's not the intention or like a evident
- 43:28attention of the design of World of Warcraft or the developers.
- 43:32It's just something that you're able to do, much like some
- 43:35people have gotten the original doom to work on a pregnancy test
- 43:39or something like that. So it's like just because it's
- 43:43possible doesn't mean it's intended.
- 43:44I want to pass it to you, Sean. Anything you want to throw in
- 43:47there? I was just, I, I can't miss this
- 43:55opportunity to potentially rile X up a little bit.
- 43:58So I'm going to Lex. They're very clearly not
- 44:02designing Warcraft for consoles because if they were, they'd
- 44:05have to remove add-ons, simplify all the classes, remove
- 44:09complexity from the the raid mechanics and implement
- 44:12something that you could just like hold down 1 button and have
- 44:14attacks happen. So it's very clear that Blizzard
- 44:19is not developing console, the Warcraft for consoles.
- 44:24There you go. I, I honestly don't think they
- 44:27are, but that was a fun tweet that I saw this week and I
- 44:32thought that it felt fitting because I'm pretty sure Alexa's
- 44:35convinced they're developing Warcraft Forgotten.
- 44:37But again, I don't know anything about game development.
- 44:40My friends who know things about game development have made that
- 44:43point to me, and I don't know how to like.
- 44:45Repeat it. It's like a huge huge process to
- 44:50do a console port from APC game. Like right now there's not even
- 44:54native controller support in Warcraft for them to port it to
- 44:58Xbox to make it a console game you'd have to plug in a mouse
- 45:02and keyboard still. Like otherwise, the only way to
- 45:04do proper control support is with an add on, which on a
- 45:07normal console you wouldn't be able to do.
- 45:12The Blizzard team will never take on a project not fully
- 45:14understanding how complex it is and like just release it really
- 45:18rapidly and very under completed.
- 45:21Has any listened listeners? You have to message Lex just
- 45:24it's a lot. It's all you have to say.
- 45:26I'm worried from my friend who is worried for the developers in
- 45:32this game that we love. So if you don't want to support
- 45:37Lex with messages of cheer and love, you can support us in a
- 45:42number of different ways, including through Patreon.
- 45:45Because nothing says I love you like some money.
- 45:48At least that's what my mom tells me.
- 45:50So, Sean, go ahead and tell us about our latest Patreon.
- 45:54All right, we're staying on the Script this Week chat.
- 45:56I guarantee it. Before I do any of that, I want
- 45:59to give a special thanks to our newest Patreon, Dax.
- 46:01Thank you so much, Dax, for your support.
- 46:03We really appreciate you and welcome to the FAZ Verse.
- 46:07Officially FAZ Universe. Although really, if everybody's
- 46:09part of the Faz Verse, you don't have to be a patron.
- 46:11That being said, for Azeroth, we'll always be free.
- 46:15But if you enjoy the content we produce, consider pledging to
- 46:17our Patreon at patreon.com/FAC. And I think it's a free option
- 46:22too. You can just go there and hang
- 46:23out. We are going to now be putting
- 46:26our unedited full pre show and post show ramble in audio format
- 46:31on the Patreon. So if you want to know what we
- 46:33talk about when we're not talking about Warcraft as we get
- 46:36ready to talk about Warcraft, you could jump on there and and
- 46:40have a listen. Spoiler alert it's not very
- 46:43exciting. I thought I mean it's thrilling
- 46:48edge of your seat stuff. I.
- 46:49Think it's fun? I think you're fun people.
- 46:52I think it's fun to hear. I shoot the shit.
- 46:54Sorry Manny, I did it again. Why do you guys just like, you
- 46:57know, like stick to the script I just put so much effort into?
- 47:01These so close. Listen Manny, you copied that
- 47:04script from Joss. You don't get to take credit for
- 47:08the Patriot script. I mean the rest of the the rest
- 47:11of the notes which are really. Good script, just entirely.
- 47:14Should I only read off the notes?
- 47:15Manny, do you want no emotion and no thought for me?
- 47:18Honestly. Actually, probably yes, based on
- 47:20the number of times I've sworn in this episode and then snarked
- 47:23at the people who like, no, yeah, Manny's like, yes, in
- 47:26fact. In fact, why don't you talk to
- 47:29us about Midnight Alpha Phase five, Lex, with the script right
- 47:33there in front of you. A little earlier than in weeks
- 47:36past, the next phase of the Alpha is here.
- 47:39Level 90 Story and Quest. Level 90 Campaign, Chapter 1.
- 47:46I regret I regret everything continue in regular.
- 47:50OK, so Alpha phase 5 is here. Here we got a little sooner than
- 47:54you expected. We so you can we're up to level
- 47:5890. Now we have our story.
- 48:00We're on to the level 90 quest, chapter one.
- 48:02We have the Argentina visitor cross, which I'm very excited to
- 48:05talk to you guys about because I did a little bit of that.
- 48:07We have our weekly quest. You have to either use the the
- 48:12skip or complete the main campaign if you want to get
- 48:14access to that. So if you're in alpha and you're
- 48:16like, oh, what are we going to do?
- 48:18There you go. And you also have all previous
- 48:21content. You can access that as well in
- 48:24housing. Budgets for the room placement
- 48:27and decor are back to the levels close to about week 3.
- 48:30I'm gonna be honest, every time I've logged in, housing has been
- 48:32bugged, so I don't actually know what that means.
- 48:34Somebody wanna tell me what that means?
- 48:36So last week they had greatly slashed like the budget that you
- 48:41had for like placing items in rooms or even the amount of
- 48:44rooms that you could do. So like remember week 1 where
- 48:46you're like, I've made 20 rooms and like, oh, I can't decorate
- 48:49them all. That might not have been
- 48:51possible last week and in. Fact.
- 48:54Well, last week there was no housing like.
- 48:56What I was going to. Say they drastically slashed.
- 49:00But like, sorry, the the previous week, but then like on
- 49:04top of that, people were saying that like, hey, with this new
- 49:08greatly reduced ceiling of what we can put into rooms and how
- 49:11many rooms we can have the the tutorial show house that they
- 49:18have on the on the wow launcher wouldn't be possible.
- 49:22Like it was. That was above these caps.
- 49:25Like an insane person. Respectfully, if you're one of
- 49:27the people in my discords, I think discords like it's not
- 49:30just my guilt discord that I listen to.
- 49:33OK, OK, I'm caught up. I'm caught up.
- 49:35Dyes are back too by the way, in housing, so those were re
- 49:37enabled. We have our delves, we have
- 49:40Parhelion Plaza, the Dark Way, and we have Torments Rise, which
- 49:43is our nemesis Delve. Prey is available.
- 49:46I actually kind of can't believe I haven't tested that before
- 49:48this game, this show, because I've been talking about it so
- 49:50much. So I will test Prey and I'll
- 49:52come back to you guys about if it's good next week.
- 49:53Have you guys tested Prey? Do you guys know if it's good?
- 49:56I I was working through most of the day so I did not have a
- 49:59chance to test it. I didn't test it because I'm so
- 50:02used to being the predator that I'm not used to being prey.
- 50:05So this is what's confusing to me, what the prey system is.
- 50:08I think you are the predator. No, don't you get jumped?
- 50:11Something jumps you, right, It chases you down.
- 50:13That's. The thing is, you're getting
- 50:14jumped, but you're objectively stalking someone.
- 50:17Oh, we're both the prey, Chat is telling us we're both the prey.
- 50:20But then does that? Doesn't that make every nobody
- 50:22the prey? You can't.
- 50:23What if the real prey was the friends we made along the way?
- 50:28Yeah, that's why they don't. That's why every time I try to
- 50:30run Mythic Plus with people they go offline almost.
- 50:33Like 10 times worse because you rhymed like you're a poet and
- 50:38you are unaware of the fact that it's just horrible.
- 50:40Well, that I've ever single handedly ended a show before,
- 50:43OK. So yes, we'll definitely come
- 50:47back with our first impressions of Prey 'cause I do think that
- 50:51it is one of the more interesting things that they've
- 50:54added, especially as like quasi end game Pillar now that we're
- 51:00getting gear out of it instead of it being just cosmetic like
- 51:02they originally thought. I would like, I would like to
- 51:06make a proposal that at least on the show and in the greater FAZ
- 51:09verse, we stop calling any solo player content as an end game
- 51:12pillar because it's just not. It's not why you can't.
- 51:18Because you, you know, you knew that I was not to open mic Manny
- 51:21and be like, oh, is it an end game pillar if it's ending at
- 51:24the same point that most end game pillars start?
- 51:27Like, I was gonna be a little snarky, a little talk about
- 51:29that. Yeah okay.
- 51:30Wait, so you're saying that the only way to be an end game
- 51:33pillar is to provide the highest loot possible?
- 51:37Yes, yeah, in order to be an end game pillar, you have to provide
- 51:41gear that is equivalent to what you can get in the highest
- 51:44content of the game. So Mythic plus BVP, because it's
- 51:47a separate loot system and it's own and rating, those are the
- 51:51three pillars. Yeah, crafting.
- 51:54Sure, I'll put crafting in there.
- 51:56Oh, that's no Oh, I see the point man he's about to make.
- 51:58Because that's solo content. So there is a solo end game
- 52:01killer. Thank you.
- 52:03Solo crafting, not solo I I require people who have the
- 52:07professions to craft the things for me.
- 52:09Oh, that's a good point. Sean doesn't do his own work.
- 52:13The crafters can't possibly level up all on their own
- 52:16without help. Yes, they can tell me you've
- 52:19never been. Well, I guess alchemists don't
- 52:20make gear. I obviously know nothing about
- 52:22crafting and I would like to move on.
- 52:25Speaking of crafting, you guys, you can test Sparks now, yeah?
- 52:29They're so good at getting shows back on track.
- 52:32Yeah, testing that, it doesn't seem like there's much
- 52:36difference other than like the new changes in quality of items
- 52:40and what you can craft. I do want to try and reach out
- 52:44to somebody who is one of those like more in the crafting at
- 52:48least if not like a serious gold maker to see what they think
- 52:52things are shaping out. But that's I think it's always
- 52:54something that I consider more in the beta and such when when
- 52:58classes are more solidified, so we know what the classes would
- 53:01be after. And like items haven't randomly
- 53:05changed. But I I would be the thing about
- 53:11professions is I would be more interested in them if they
- 53:14actually counted for something. It's the one thing on Alpha Beta
- 53:18that like I cannot do, I cannot test because it feels so running
- 53:26on a hamster wheel, like I'm just doing work for the sake of
- 53:29does this hamster wheel work rather than just.
- 53:31Sitting in a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but
- 53:33you don't get very far. Pretty much, and which is funny
- 53:37that I don't have that same consideration with any of the
- 53:39questing any of the like time. I'm like wailing on some poor
- 53:45practice dummy because I feel like when I do that, the
- 53:51information that I get helps me when the game goes and
- 53:54technically this crafting stuff should do that.
- 53:57I don't know why I just have that mental divide there.
- 54:02Because you don't think solo activities are really worth your
- 54:05time. Yeah, but like testing.
- 54:07That's why he's a cutting edge Raider.
- 54:10Like I'm testing delves. I mean, we both know you're not
- 54:13testing any delves, Sir. What I'm testing delves.
- 54:16I'm enjoying delves anyways. Well, Speaking of Delves, there
- 54:21is one thing that's not on the show notes that I do want to
- 54:23bring up because Chad mentioned it and we would be remiss if we
- 54:25didn't. There's a new Hall of Fame for
- 54:29the Delve Nemesis. Oh, that's the top.
- 54:32The 1st 1000 People to Kill question mark.
- 54:36Question mark. Not Kyvesa.
- 54:40We'll be in the Delvers Hall of Fame.
- 54:44How many only Delve players do you think will get that versus
- 54:49how many CE rank one Raiders will get it because they're
- 54:53doing it in Week 1. I think that they'll be healthy
- 54:57mix of them because especially sorry in season 1 I suspect it
- 55:02will be tilted more towards the people doing a lot of different
- 55:05content because the gear disparity between where you
- 55:08start at just hitting level 80 and what you would need to
- 55:12complete this will be the largest is going to be all
- 55:15expansion. However in season 2 and season 3
- 55:18I suspect that a lot of delve only players are going to tear
- 55:22through it and they're going to have a healthy representation on
- 55:25on the Hall of Fame board. Especially since the Chi Vesa
- 55:32stuff doesn't count towards your vault in terms of dropping,
- 55:39dropping loot like you would get at the end of a normal delve.
- 55:43And therefore the people who are more focused on raise, the
- 55:45people who are more focused on M plus and gearing for that are
- 55:48less likely to push along that mind you, you know, people who
- 55:51have done funnier stuff for Hall of Fame.
- 55:53There's a lot of, there's a lot of social and reward aspects
- 55:57that I think will make this different.
- 56:01OK, all right, that was a well thought out answer.
- 56:04I have no snarky reply. OK, I I I will give you a little
- 56:07snarky thing that you didn't quite consider.
- 56:10You don't give this same shade to people who get title in M
- 56:15Plus or who get Hall of Fame in in raid.
- 56:18Say how many people who just raid get Hall of Fame in raid?
- 56:22So your bias is showing on that. Just raids get gets Hall of Fame
- 56:26and and I will actually actually say I do think it's frustrating
- 56:30as a Raider that I like by definition have to do non raid
- 56:33things. I'm happier now that I have
- 56:34Dallas, but I I could throw fit for hours about that back when
- 56:38the only real way to get a gear outside of raid is with mythic
- 56:42plus. I reserve all of my mythic plus
- 56:45title snark for people selling boosts to title.
- 56:49OK, all right, I will. I will say Lex, that I think
- 56:56that if you are going to play at the highest levels, whether that
- 56:59is PvP, whether that is title pushing M plus, whether that is
- 57:04Hall of Fame raids or this Hall of Fame delves, being able to
- 57:12get the best from all versions of the game should give you an
- 57:17advantage that that kind of mastery of the entirety of the
- 57:21game being funneled towards something I think is something
- 57:26I'm a OK with. Now, I don't think that you as
- 57:30an AOTC Raider, right, should feel that you need to get 12
- 57:37pluses to unlock mythic level gear or 10 pluses to get it in
- 57:43your vault so that you can overpower the heroic raid.
- 57:48That to me is a struggle That should that that I'm glad that
- 57:52they are dressing. I, I what's in between there?
- 57:55That that's where I'm like, OK, I'm not so sure.
- 57:57That's super fair. I will say, and I've said this
- 58:00on the show before, I would be more on your side to wimp both
- 58:03ways if there was nobody pushing mythic plus title.
- 58:06And maybe I'm wrong. I don't actually really know who
- 58:08pushes title because I'm not a high level player, but my
- 58:10understanding is there is a lot of people who push M plus and
- 58:14only like I I I have never heard any mythic plus player say you
- 58:19know. What sucks is the fact that I
- 58:20have to do a minimum of three hours of rating every single
- 58:23week if I want to be able to push keys.
- 58:25There are those people, There are definitely, yeah.
- 58:27And like some very popular content creators who only Mythic
- 58:32Plus or who are very vocal about the fact that they only raid
- 58:37because the best trinket or the best cantrip item is in the
- 58:41raid. J dot B, one of the best healers
- 58:44in the world, multiple MDI competitor and yeah, hates
- 58:50raiding. Julie hates it and is very vocal
- 58:53about the fact that he shouldn't have to raid to just play M plus
- 58:57and he's not alone. Yeah, there is a lot of people
- 58:59and there's a there is a lot of Raiders.
- 59:01You're not alone either Lex there.
- 59:02Even on our rating there are. There's one in the chat who if
- 59:06they didn't have to do mythic plus for the gear edge that it
- 59:09gives them a mythic rating, they wouldn't.
- 59:11They would never step foot into a mythic plus.
- 59:13One of them convinced our entire rate team to run normal instead
- 59:16of LFR this week for the DNR buff just so they wouldn't have
- 59:19to do 4 dungeons. Which is so valid, just me
- 59:23convincing people to do heroic. So yes, OK, OK, well, then then
- 59:27I'm not and that's super fair. And I will own that.
- 59:29And I guess there is actually give and take and that's you
- 59:32know, but I OK, I'll I'll I'll buy that Manny that it's valid
- 59:36to do better in the game if you're able to do all of the
- 59:38types of the game, then if you just specialize in one thing.
- 59:42My my dark confession is that I hate pet battling because there
- 59:47are certain amounts that are behind pet battling and I don't
- 59:50want to do pet battling to get those mounts.
- 59:53And so like selfishly I wish that they would change pet
- 59:56battling so that like pets would even have the pet battle anymore
- 1:00:00in future expansions. I'm just going to slip that to
- 1:00:02Faz Dev so that maybe I get my way.
- 1:00:04How do you hate? Animals.
- 1:00:08Can't you just like super squirt day and juice up?
- 1:00:11Never touch super squirt day that that seems like getting way
- 1:00:13into pet battling than I have any wish to ever do I've done.
- 1:00:18Casting for pet babbling and I don't know what you guys, I
- 1:00:20actually I only did casting. Because I have to know what
- 1:00:22Super Squirt. Listen, if anybody on this
- 1:00:24podcast knows Super Squirt Day, Lex, it's you.
- 1:00:27You're the pet battler. Surely it's like the power
- 1:00:30leveling day for for animals in your Garrison or something.
- 1:00:33Yeah, and I, I should also say that I was invited to pet battle
- 1:00:37to, to cast pet battles because they wanted somebody who could
- 1:00:39kind of like counter the person who understood pet battling and
- 1:00:42like explain it to the audience. So I was the idiot, which is,
- 1:00:45you know, I'm like, I'm the idiot on another form of, of
- 1:00:48content creation that people use to like be the audience.
- 1:00:52I don't know. Anyway, because of the episode
- 1:00:55relaxed as a hater, how do you guys feel about Argentina?
- 1:00:59Oh, I haven't tried it yet, but I guess.
- 1:01:01That's why OK, so last last episode, Sean was trying to give
- 1:01:06a shout out to the to one of the fast devs was like, hey,
- 1:01:09whichever one of you fast dev created that mini game where you
- 1:01:12like untie the lines and stuff, love you and everything.
- 1:01:15There's an infinite version of that in the Argentina.
- 1:01:18Are. You serious?
- 1:01:19Yeah, the the one where you switched the pipes around in the
- 1:01:23Argentina. End it, I gotta go log.
- 1:01:29In Yeah and you get introduced to it as part of the Air Thor
- 1:01:35storyline. So it so it is something you can
- 1:01:38get pretty quickly. Anybody needs me?
- 1:01:40I'm a I'm a line on Tangler Maine now.
- 1:01:43Is there a Hall of Fame for this Can I get nothing gear from the
- 1:01:46Can I get nothing gear from? It oh wait, we we need gear.
- 1:01:48Yeah, we need gear. Otherwise it's not natural end
- 1:01:50game. Anyway, I'm a lion on Tangler.
- 1:01:52That's my new, my new end game. I'm off the right team.
- 1:01:54Somebody tell Barack. Warrior line on Tangler.
- 1:01:59That's right. Race the world straight
- 1:02:04untangling. Yeah, that's right, world.
- 1:02:07Strange. Unfortunate pause.
- 1:02:11We'll continue. Yeah, that's probably gonna be,
- 1:02:13well, the offensive. We'll get letters.
- 1:02:15Yeah, you can send those the bit dot LY slash fast discord.
- 1:02:19And then of course, as we are now reaching phase five, they
- 1:02:22have been putting in a number of things that are part of the end
- 1:02:26game. So as we were talking about the
- 1:02:28Argentina Lex, you were talking about Prey.
- 1:02:31But there are all of those events that are in the different
- 1:02:34areas that allow you to do different things.
- 1:02:37So we've got the Legends of the Herrenar, which is the lore
- 1:02:41based 1 the Stormarian Citadel, which is the one in the Void
- 1:02:45Storm, the Amani Abyss. Again, that's hair and our
- 1:02:49abundance is in all of the zones.
- 1:02:51And of course the Satharils soiree, which we well one it's
- 1:02:59in silver moon, but we believe that is something along the
- 1:03:01lines of Ambercord. The other thing that's part of
- 1:03:04the end game are class sets. They they had some implemented
- 1:03:08with last one. And then this week we've added a
- 1:03:11lot more. All of these look very, very
- 1:03:14basic. They're just straight flat DPS
- 1:03:17increases for particular moves. I think it's, it's worth noting
- 1:03:25that all the tank ones were also damage increases.
- 1:03:27They're not like defensive increases, which, you know, I, I
- 1:03:32like that for a tank sometimes, like you're just survivable
- 1:03:35enough and getting a little more damage feels better as a tank.
- 1:03:40Yeah, plus one. Plus one for that. 6/7.
- 1:03:44No, I'm leaving the show. I don't want to hear that ever
- 1:03:47again. Am I doing it right?
- 1:03:50Am I? I don't know, I just saw a clip.
- 1:03:55Except. Little dear good.
- 1:03:56Anyways, do you check out the notes?
- 1:03:58There are a lot of class changes still going on, so make sure you
- 1:04:01are checking that and we will be back next week with even more.
- 1:04:07Manny. Sarah, will you cater about the
- 1:04:08Argentina? And I've never heard him change
- 1:04:10the topic faster in his life. I have a question.
- 1:04:15They've been tuning the class sets like the book class sets in
- 1:04:19a few weeks ago. They've been tuning stuff like
- 1:04:21that. There's been no end game content
- 1:04:23available to test. What are they basing the tuning
- 1:04:26on? They were tuning the sets,
- 1:04:29they've been adding in the sets, right?
- 1:04:32Pretty. Sure, I saw changes to damage
- 1:04:34numbers for some of the sets. Well, some of them are based on
- 1:04:37the class tuning, which means that the set now needs to
- 1:04:40reflect that, right? OK, alright, I'll buy that.
- 1:04:42That works. I'll take it now.
- 1:04:44You may end. OK, until next time guys, may
- 1:04:47all your hits be crits.
