- 0:04Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken.
- 0:06Speaker 2: It's your dose of the hottest influencer and pop culture
- 0:09Speaker 2: news twice a week. I'm Amy Torber and coming up
- 0:12Speaker 2: on today's show, Bec Judd's kids steal the show in
- 0:16Speaker 2: her Brownlow diaries. Michaela Tester slams a blonde bitch from Adelaide.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Let's hope that's not you, Sophie.
- 0:22Speaker 1: We'll wait and see.
- 0:23Speaker 2: And our highs and lows of the week. But first,
- 0:26Speaker 2: controversial Slickstick owner Mia Plesic is facing legal action over
- 0:30Speaker 2: after not upholding her end of a contra deal with
- 0:33Speaker 2: bridal boutique Champery Couture. Yeah, and just after we recorded
- 0:37Speaker 2: Tuesday's show, the divisive influencer uploaded her much anticipated wedding photos,
- 0:42Speaker 2: revealing she went with a different gown. What did you
- 0:46Speaker 2: think of the dress?
- 0:47Speaker 1: It wasn't exactly what I envisioned her to wear. I
- 0:50Speaker 1: thought she'd have something very blingy.
- 0:52Speaker 2: This dress had a very plunging neckline and it had
- 0:55Speaker 2: this floral lace detailing around it. She also wore a
- 0:59Speaker 2: very long veil with her hair pulled back in a bun.
- 1:02Speaker 2: She was trying to go for that very sophisticated look.
- 1:05Speaker 2: And I hate to ever speak ill of anyone's wedding,
- 1:07Speaker 2: but I felt it looked a little bit cheap, the
- 1:10Speaker 2: actual dress. Yeah, you could tell she had to pick
- 1:12Speaker 2: up the dress last minute.
- 1:13Speaker 1: I mean, she looked nice.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Well, it is believed that she purchased it off the
- 1:16Speaker 2: rack when she was shopping in Dubai before their trip.
- 1:19Speaker 2: And that is why I think it maybe didn't fit
- 1:22Speaker 2: perfectly because there are a few comments saying it was ill-fitting.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Around the breast area.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Well, shortly after Mia uploaded the wedding photos, Shampoo Couture
- 1:30Speaker 2: released a statement to Instagram confirming the gown in the
- 1:34Speaker 2: photos was not theirs. So the owner of the boutique wrote,
- 1:37Speaker 2: we have received inquiries regarding the situation involving Miss Plesic.
- 1:42Speaker 2: I love that they're now referring to her as Miss Plesic.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Please note the gown worn was not one of our gowns.
- 1:49Speaker 2: We can confirm that we created a beautiful gown for
- 1:51Speaker 2: Miss Plesic, which she approved at every stage. Now, in
- 1:55Speaker 2: this post, they also shared a beautiful sketch of Mia's gown.
- 1:58Speaker 2: And on top of the sketch, it said, Champeree for Mia.
- 2:02Speaker 2: They also shared a text message exchange with Mia. So
- 2:06Speaker 2: in it, the owner excitedly sent a progress shot of
- 2:09Speaker 2: the dress. So it was a pearl bodice to which
- 2:12Speaker 2: Mia replied, seriously divine.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Do you love it?
- 2:15Speaker 2: Now, Champeree Couture went on to confirm in their Instagram
- 2:18Speaker 2: post that despite the boutique fulfilling their obligations, Mia did not,
- 2:23Speaker 2: and they'd been forced to engage a lawyer. And to
- 2:26Speaker 2: show that they were serious, they included the.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Name of the legal team.
- 2:30Speaker 2: I wondered if this was a bit of a pot
- 2:32Speaker 2: shot at Mia, because a couple of years ago, we
- 2:35Speaker 2: reported that Mia had sent a fake legal letter to
- 2:37Speaker 2: another content creator. So I wondered if they included his
- 2:41Speaker 2: name to show that they meant business. What I took
- 2:44Speaker 2: from their post was that the dress that Champery Couture
- 2:47Speaker 2: made for Mia was was so much nicer than the
- 2:50Speaker 2: dress that she actually decided to wear.
- 2:52Speaker 1: It looked more luxe. It looked like it fit her properly.
- 2:55Speaker 2: I also think that Shampoo and Couture was desperate to
- 2:58Speaker 2: put something out there because they didn't want anyone thinking
- 3:01Speaker 2: that this was one of their gowns. Even the way
- 3:03Speaker 2: that they capitalised this is not our gown. And it's
- 3:07Speaker 2: because there's been such a strong reaction to the dress
- 3:09Speaker 2: and a lot of followers felt somewhat perplexed as to
- 3:12Speaker 2: why Mia would choose a gown that was off the rack.
- 3:16Speaker 2: as opposed to one that had been custom designed for
- 3:18Speaker 2: her and that she approved every step of the way.
- 3:21Speaker 2: So one follower said, just got to say, I love
- 3:23Speaker 2: the champery one better. Whilst another said the dress she
- 3:26Speaker 2: ended up wearing is below average. And another follower said, unfortunately,
- 3:31Speaker 2: I was so disappointed with her dress.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Don't get me wrong.
- 3:34Speaker 2: It's absolutely beautiful, but I was totally expecting more. And
- 3:37Speaker 2: I think it's because she had such an over the
- 3:40Speaker 2: top and lavish wedding that you thought, well, this gown
- 3:42Speaker 2: is going to be a showstopper. But it sort of
- 3:44Speaker 2: reminded me of a gown that I've already seen before.
- 3:47Speaker 2: There's a brand, it's a beautiful brand called Made With
- 3:49Speaker 2: Love Bridal. And there's a very similar design that often
- 3:53Speaker 2: gets featured in their marketing campaigns. Well, Champery Couture are
- 3:56Speaker 2: still hoping they'll be able to sell the dress that
- 3:59Speaker 2: they made for Mia. So they're planning on doing a
- 4:01Speaker 2: photo shoot in the gown, but it's going to be
- 4:04Speaker 2: a hard dress to sell because This is designed for
- 4:07Speaker 2: Mia's body shape. Yeah, because this gown doesn't come in
- 4:11Speaker 2: a sample size, which a lot of influencers are generally gifted.
- 4:14Speaker 2: And I suppose that's the unfair nature about the industry
- 4:17Speaker 2: sometimes that a certain size bride will often get a
- 4:21Speaker 2: gown because they'll be able to take the gown back
- 4:23Speaker 2: and resell it. It's a very specific person that will
- 4:25Speaker 2: fit this dress because Mia is breastfeeding still. So from
- 4:29Speaker 2: what the brand has said, the bust size is a
- 4:31Speaker 2: size 20, but the waist is really small. I don't
- 4:34Speaker 2: know how much luck they're going to have selling this dress. Well,
- 4:37Speaker 2: they said that any funds they do recoup from selling
- 4:40Speaker 2: the dress will be donated to Bully Zero, which I
- 4:43Speaker 2: think is another pointed message towards Mia. It's also very
- 4:47Speaker 2: clear that something bigger is brewing in the background because
- 4:50Speaker 2: in this statement, the boutique owner alleges that this is
- 4:54Speaker 2: not an isolated incident. So she claimed that other companies
- 4:58Speaker 2: and individuals were including a Dubai jeweler, have also faced
- 5:02Speaker 2: similar challenges with Mia. Now, they're being very careful with
- 5:04Speaker 2: their language here. I think this statement has been approved
- 5:07Speaker 2: by a lawyer because they're calling it challenges. So it
- 5:10Speaker 2: seems like a number of businesses have heard about this
- 5:13Speaker 2: story and they have all come together potentially to launch
- 5:17Speaker 2: joint action or try and expose some of these dealings
- 5:21Speaker 2: in another way.
- 5:21Speaker 1: And we want to confirm these are just allegations.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Mia is yet to make any comment on Shampree Couture's statement.
- 5:29Speaker 2: I'm guessing she's laying low at the moment. She's obviously
- 5:31Speaker 2: wanting to enjoy her wedding high. Well, I wouldn't say
- 5:33Speaker 2: she's laying low because she's posted so many photos of
- 5:36Speaker 2: her wedding.
- 5:37Speaker 1: She's posted a video as well. I think that she's.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Probably just ignoring all of the noise at the moment
- 5:43Speaker 2: and trying to have a good time. It's hard to
- 5:46Speaker 2: believe that 20 years ago my husband won his first
- 5:50Speaker 2: round low and I wore the red dress. After a
- 5:54Speaker 2: six-year hiatus, the Brownlow queen, Bec Jard, returned to football's
- 5:58Speaker 2: night of nights. The popular TV personality was there to
- 6:02Speaker 2: mark 20 years since her husband, Chris, won the Brownlow,
- 6:05Speaker 2: and more importantly, the night that changed her life forever
- 6:09Speaker 2: because of that red dress. Now, Sophie, Bec isn't necessarily
- 6:13Speaker 2: known for relatable content. she attempted to keep things real
- 6:17Speaker 2: by sharing a behind the scenes vlog of her Brownlow prep.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I love this.
- 6:21Speaker 2: I don't think it's any secret to listeners that I
- 6:23Speaker 2: am a bit of a Beck Judd stan and I
- 6:25Speaker 2: ate this.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Whole vlog up.
- 6:26Speaker 2: So since I was a teenager and I feel like
- 6:29Speaker 2: you're the same, I have always been fascinated by the
- 6:32Speaker 2: Brownlow process.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Like, How do the deals work? How long does it
- 6:36Speaker 1: take the girls to get ready?
- 6:38Speaker 2: I've always wanted to be a fly on the wall
- 6:40Speaker 2: and this is what Beck Judd gave us. And it's
- 6:43Speaker 2: funny because it was actually Beck's kids who stole the
- 6:45Speaker 2: show in this reel. So her 10-year-old daughter, Billie, was
- 6:49Speaker 2: in charge of filming most of the behind the scenes
- 6:51Speaker 2: content and she did not miss a beat. I wonder
- 6:54Speaker 2: if this video was part of a deal with Jeton
- 6:57Speaker 2: Couture because this brand has been dressing Beck for 16
- 6:59Speaker 2: years And she made a real effort to show how
- 7:03Speaker 2: the whole design process worked. Yeah. And what I found
- 7:06Speaker 2: most fascinating is that she had her first fitting only
- 7:09Speaker 2: five days out from the Brownlow. Wow. And in the fitting,
- 7:13Speaker 2: the team showed her a bunch of sketches of different dresses,
- 7:16Speaker 2: and she could basically pick what she liked from the
- 7:19Speaker 2: different designs. And she also tried on a couple of
- 7:22Speaker 2: backup options, which were already half made. It's pretty crazy
- 7:25Speaker 2: to think that they would have been working on this
- 7:27Speaker 2: dress quite solidly for five days to make it happen.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Five days.
- 7:31Speaker 2: It sounds very Mia Plesik of her. Yeah, it does
- 7:34Speaker 2: have that kind of vibe to it. But I don't
- 7:36Speaker 2: know if perhaps more was going on in the background
- 7:38Speaker 2: and she'd approved some designs before.
- 7:40Speaker 1: It was quite.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Interesting with the sketches because she ended up having this
- 7:44Speaker 2: very poofy skirt, but that wasn't in any of them.
- 7:47Speaker 2: And I actually think that the skirt was the downfall
- 7:50Speaker 2: of the whole outfit because she ended up being on
- 7:52Speaker 2: some of.
- 7:52Speaker 1: The worst dress lists.
- 7:53Speaker 3: What?
- 7:54Speaker 1: Which surprises me. I thought that we'd gotten.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Rid of worst dress category. I thought that was quite
- 7:58Speaker 2: frowned upon.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:59Speaker 2: I feel like this year, the vibe around the brown
- 8:01Speaker 2: low has actually been really good. I thought it was
- 8:05Speaker 2: because I think that millennials and Gen Zers, we've all
- 8:09Speaker 2: adjusted our opinion towards it. But then I went on
- 8:12Speaker 2: the Daily Mail and they were absolutely laying into the girls.
- 8:15Speaker 2: And then I've seen a couple of news.com articles where
- 8:19Speaker 2: You know when they won't say something looks bad, but
- 8:22Speaker 2: they'll leave it to the comment section to say it? No,
- 8:24Speaker 2: they'll always be like, and doesn't so-and-so look absolutely gorgeous
- 8:27Speaker 2: in her dress?
- 8:28Speaker 1: And it's like the worst photo.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, it was quite clear that Beck was trying
- 8:33Speaker 2: to prove that she's relatable in this vlog because she
- 8:36Speaker 2: showed that she got caught off guard one weekend when
- 8:39Speaker 2: the designers asked her to drop everything and head straight in.
- 8:43Speaker 2: And she showed that she was wearing these really daggy
- 8:45Speaker 2: brown tracksuit pants, which were covered in an apple sponge
- 8:48Speaker 2: cake that she had been making that day and also
- 8:51Speaker 2: dog hair. Were they actually visibly covered in shit?
- 8:55Speaker 1: They were actually. Oh, I love that.
- 8:56Speaker 2: The tracksuit pants were this sort of, you know, that
- 8:58Speaker 2: teddy bear material. They looked ultra daggy. I was like,
- 9:02Speaker 2: surely she's going to change, but she didn't. That makes
- 9:04Speaker 2: me really like Bec.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Well, exactly. Her tactic is working.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I'm eating this all up.
- 9:09Speaker 1: As you're sitting there in a Jagger jumper at the moment. Oh, yeah.
- 9:13Speaker 1: There's a few good deals on Jagger at the moment.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Not sponsored. This is not sponsored.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I thought you were going to point out that I
- 9:19Speaker 2: had crap all over my tracksuit pants, but I've actually
- 9:22Speaker 2: put a brand new freshly washed pair on today. They're
- 9:25Speaker 2: looking lovely.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Now, it's quite funny because Beck.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Dropped everything and she brought Billy and her twins Tom
- 9:31Speaker 2: and Darcy into the fitting with her. And as she
- 9:34Speaker 2: was walking with her kids towards the designer boutique, her
- 9:37Speaker 2: son Tom asked if there's going to be any food
- 9:40Speaker 2: there because he's quite hungry. Now, let's listen to the exchange.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Let's go, guys. Found no fitting. There's no food there. Um,
- 9:49Speaker 1: I'm not sure. Don't ask though, yeah? Because it's rude
- 9:54Speaker 1: to go somewhere and just say straight away, can I
- 9:56Speaker 1: have food? I don't know why, but I get such.
- 10:00Speaker 2: a sick kick out of hearing influencers interact with their kids.
- 10:04Speaker 2: It's clear that Beck is worried that her kids were going.
- 10:07Speaker 1: To come off as entitled. Yeah, but do you know
- 10:08Speaker 1: why I think that is?
- 10:09Speaker 2: Because we reported a few weeks ago how Beck revealed
- 10:13Speaker 2: that she wasn't that maternal. Like she doesn't really, she's
- 10:16Speaker 2: never really been that person where she's been obsessed with
- 10:18Speaker 2: other people's kids or the fun aunt or whatever. Yeah,
- 10:21Speaker 2: because she was sort of talking in a way that
- 10:23Speaker 2: you would speak to an adult. Like don't say that
- 10:25Speaker 2: because that's rude. I mean, I think her son's only seven. Yeah,
- 10:28Speaker 2: but she's saying that because she knows what it's like
- 10:30Speaker 2: When you're not that into kids and they are fucking rude. Well,
- 10:34Speaker 2: it made me laugh because it's clear that one of
- 10:36Speaker 2: the kids ended up dropping that they were hungry because
- 10:39Speaker 2: the designer brought in the fanciest bowl of.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Chips I have ever seen.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Oh, really?
- 10:44Speaker 1: What kind of like, just like crisps? It was crisps.
- 10:46Speaker 1: To me, they look light and tangy. But anyway, I
- 10:48Speaker 1: don't know.
- 10:48Speaker 2: They were in this like white scooped bowl. And even
- 10:52Speaker 2: Beck was like, oh, my God, this is so fancy.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Normally they only have, like, champagne at these kind of designers.
- 10:58Speaker 2: They were like, fuck, get this kid a bag of chips.
- 11:01Speaker 2: It became apparent watching this vlog that Beck's kids have
- 11:04Speaker 2: no idea that their parents are football royalty because when
- 11:08Speaker 2: they arrived at Crown Towers, they were gushing about which
- 11:11Speaker 2: footy players they hoped that they would run into.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Here's what they said.
- 11:15Speaker 2: I really want to see, like, a Kripper or a
- 11:19Speaker 2: Zach Butters in the room next to us. Or like
- 11:21Speaker 2: a bunt just in the.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Room next to us or a date.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Harley reads here.
- 11:27Speaker 3: I just realised that.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Bec also seemed to think this was pretty funny because
- 11:33Speaker 2: in the caption for her video she wrote, I think
- 11:35Speaker 2: the funniest bits are my kids being so excited seeing
- 11:38Speaker 2: footy players.
- 11:40Speaker 1: It's like, duh, your dad is Chris Judd. Google him.
- 11:42Speaker 2: It seemed like Crown Towers rolled out all of the
- 11:45Speaker 2: stops for the Judds because they put them in a huge...
- 11:48Speaker 2: two-bedroom villa so that the kids could join them because
- 11:50Speaker 2: it was actually school holiday. So they said that they're
- 11:52Speaker 2: going to do a bit of a Brownlow stay, Kay.
- 11:55Speaker 2: And despite living in a $ 7 million mansion in Brighton,
- 11:59Speaker 2: the kids seem to be in awe of the room,
- 12:01Speaker 2: particularly the toilets. Big bubble bathtub. We've got a big
- 12:05Speaker 2: bubble bathtub. Great. And we've got a fancy toilet that
- 12:09Speaker 2: Darcy's currently on. This was a nice room, but I
- 12:13Speaker 2: just thought because the kids are used to living in luxury,
- 12:16Speaker 2: they might not be that excited by it. Yeah, but
- 12:18Speaker 2: think back to when you were a kid and you'd
- 12:20Speaker 2: go to some budget motel and be excited because they had.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Mints on the pillow.
- 12:23Speaker 2: I suppose because it's something different, isn't it? Well, one
- 12:26Speaker 2: thing that I have always wanted to know is what
- 12:28Speaker 2: the wives and girlfriends actually eat in the lead up
- 12:31Speaker 2: to the Brownlow, because you always hear these horror stories
- 12:35Speaker 2: of women starving themselves. And Beck in particular has always
- 12:39Speaker 2: been scrutinised about her weight, even this year. Yeah, because
- 12:42Speaker 2: the night after the Brownlow, Sky News ran with a
- 12:44Speaker 2: headline saying that fans are concerned over Beck's slender frame,
- 12:48Speaker 2: which if anything, just encouraged more people to speculate and
- 12:52Speaker 2: leave their nasty comments. What was on the menu for
- 12:55Speaker 2: Beck though, Amy? Well, Beck started her morning with an
- 12:58Speaker 2: omelette and a fruit platter, which is sort of what
- 13:01Speaker 2: you'd expect. Yeah. But it's her lunch that I thought
- 13:04Speaker 2: was so iconic. So she had a large serving of
- 13:07Speaker 2: nasi goreng accompanied by two chicken satays and prawn crackers.
- 13:11Speaker 2: She then showed herself apologising to the makeup artist if
- 13:14Speaker 2: her breath smelt after lunch. Do you rate that meal?
- 13:18Speaker 2: Because I suppose a lot of the concern would be
- 13:20Speaker 2: around bloating in your dress and generally feeling a bit gross.
- 13:24Speaker 2: I don't think I would eat it before the brown low,
- 13:27Speaker 2: just because I personally am prone to bloating. But it's
- 13:30Speaker 2: rice and chicken.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Really? I feel like I bloat with rice. Don't people
- 13:35Speaker 1: bloat with rice?
- 13:36Speaker 2: I would be keeping it like, I've probably just have
- 13:38Speaker 2: the omelet and the fruit. Well, I think it's more,
- 13:41Speaker 2: if you think back to your wedding, what did you
- 13:43Speaker 2: eat the morning of your wedding?
- 13:45Speaker 1: Oh my God, I felt faint.
- 13:46Speaker 2: So again, this is probably, we need to fucking take
- 13:48Speaker 2: a shot every time I mentioned that my wedding was
- 13:50Speaker 2: 40 degrees. Yes, yes. my hairdresser kept saying to me,
- 13:56Speaker 2: please eat something, please eat something because I am known
- 13:58Speaker 2: for bloating.
- 13:59Speaker 1: I did not want to bloat. I had a very
- 14:00Speaker 1: tight dress.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Sometimes you bloat more if you don't eat anything.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I really didn't eat anything in the morning.
- 14:05Speaker 2: And then Kate had made hot cross buns. Like she,
- 14:08Speaker 2: she has the worst thing you probably could have had
- 14:10Speaker 2: a hot cross bun about two hours before walking down
- 14:14Speaker 2: the aisle. Well, I actually think Beck knows her shit.
- 14:18Speaker 2: She has been at the Brownlow many a time. She's
- 14:20Speaker 2: walked many red carpets. Maybe she was worried about getting
- 14:23Speaker 2: too drunk as well.
- 14:25Speaker 1: It's protein.
- 14:26Speaker 2: The rice may be a bit questionable, but I think
- 14:29Speaker 2: that's a great meal before the Brownlow.
- 14:32Speaker 3: It's been almost two years since that stupid blonde bitch
- 14:34Speaker 3: from Adelaide called me fat in that leaked Snapchat video
- 14:37Speaker 3: that she posted on her own story at that white
- 14:39Speaker 3: boxer band.
- 14:39Speaker 1: And still to this day, it affects me.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Before we get into the next segment, we want to
- 14:44Speaker 2: issue a trigger warning as we do touch on issues
- 14:47Speaker 2: related to eating disorders. Michaela Tester has opened up on
- 14:51Speaker 2: her TikTok about being fat shamed by fellow OnlyFans creator,
- 14:55Speaker 2: Carrie Gribble. Can you believe, Amy, that this incident happened
- 14:59Speaker 2: almost two years ago? Wow, I'm surprised it's been that long. Yeah, well,
- 15:02Speaker 2: it all started when Michaela alleged that a girl she
- 15:05Speaker 2: met at an event caught her fat on her Snapchat story.
- 15:09Speaker 2: She added, if she thinks this is what fat.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Is, I'm concerned.
- 15:13Speaker 2: While Michaela didn't name Kerry, it didn't take long for
- 15:15Speaker 2: the leaked Snapchat story to surface. In the video, Kerry said,
- 15:20Speaker 2: Michaela Tester is fat in person. Now, Kerry Gribble ended
- 15:24Speaker 2: up addressing the drama, saying the only person she needed
- 15:27Speaker 2: to apologize to was Michaela and backtracked saying she didn't
- 15:31Speaker 2: think Michaela was fat and also insisted she didn't think
- 15:34Speaker 2: the word fat was an insult.
- 15:36Speaker 1: A bit of a cop out there.
- 15:37Speaker 2: It turned out that the Snapchat was made whilst Kerry
- 15:41Speaker 2: was drunk and she meant to send it to her
- 15:43Speaker 2: best friend, but she accidentally uploaded.
- 15:46Speaker 1: It to her Instagram story.
- 15:47Speaker 2: I still don't get how people can do this.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Oh, I think it's easy enough.
- 15:52Speaker 2: It's actually easy enough to do on Snapchat as well,
- 15:54Speaker 2: which is quite horrifying. Snapchat's had this big resurgence.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Have you noticed?
- 15:59Speaker 2: I was listening to, I think it was Mamma Mia
- 16:01Speaker 2: and they were all saying, Oh God, who in their
- 16:03Speaker 2: thirties would be on Snapchat?
- 16:05Speaker 1: I fucking use Snapchat all the time. Yeah. For close
- 16:07Speaker 1: personal friends.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Well, of course, like that's what most people use it for.
- 16:10Speaker 2: That's what I think people like about it, that it's
- 16:12Speaker 2: not infiltrated by celebrities and influencers. I know that they
- 16:16Speaker 2: do have the section where you can watch their stories,
- 16:20Speaker 2: but it's more about like just having a fun moment
- 16:22Speaker 2: with your friends and having a laugh. But I've noticed,
- 16:25Speaker 2: especially with UK influencers, there's this big push now for
- 16:29Speaker 2: people to follow them on Snapchat. Like Even Saffron Barker,
- 16:32Speaker 2: she started talking about how now she's vlogging each day
- 16:35Speaker 2: on her Snapchat.
- 16:35Speaker 1: They're probably getting paid by Snapchat. No, they are.
- 16:37Speaker 2: That's the big issue. A lot of them are being
- 16:39Speaker 2: paid to promote it. Now, getting back to this story.
- 16:41Speaker 2: So in a recent TikTok video, Mikaela revealed just how
- 16:46Speaker 2: much Kerry's comments have affected her.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Here's what she said.
- 16:49Speaker 3: And it's so crazy that all it takes is one
- 16:52Speaker 3: little comment from someone to just fuck your life up.
- 16:56Speaker 1: She fucked my life up. She fucked me up.
- 16:58Speaker 2: In the head.
- 16:59Speaker 3: And I just feel annoyed saying that because she will
- 17:02Speaker 3: probably see this video and she's probably going to get
- 17:04Speaker 3: such a kick out of it. But she's just an
- 17:05Speaker 3: evil little ratty bitch. I was experiencing it at an
- 17:08Speaker 3: older age. I didn't know how to deal with it.
- 17:09Speaker 3: I lost friends. I lost everything because of my eating disorder.
- 17:13Speaker 3: I didn't even want to go outside.
- 17:16Speaker 2: I loved how Michaela didn't even name Kerry. She just
- 17:18Speaker 2: referred to her as a little ratty bitch. I think
- 17:20Speaker 2: she purposely did this because she doesn't want Kerry getting
- 17:23Speaker 2: any followers out of this or gaining any clout from it.
- 17:26Speaker 2: It made me really sad to hear that this has
- 17:28Speaker 2: affected her so much. And she went on to say
- 17:30Speaker 2: that this incident is the reason that she hasn't been posting.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Daily vlogs like she used to.
- 17:35Speaker 2: And I went back and had a look and this
- 17:37Speaker 2: year she's only posted 13 videos. I was really surprised
- 17:41Speaker 2: that the commentary had affected Michaela Testa so badly because
- 17:45Speaker 2: From an outside perspective, you look at her and you
- 17:47Speaker 2: just go, you are so stunning. But she did reference
- 17:50Speaker 2: the fact that she.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Has an eating disorder, which was triggered by these comments.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Yeah, well, she has been open about some of her
- 17:56Speaker 2: other mental health struggles before. And she opened up saying
- 17:59Speaker 2: that she has been seeing a therapist since this incident,
- 18:01Speaker 2: but it's still affecting her. And she said that she
- 18:04Speaker 2: keeps trying to post like she normally would and be
- 18:07Speaker 2: her old self, but she just can't. Now, this video
- 18:10Speaker 2: attracted 3.6 million views and also a huge outpouring of
- 18:14Speaker 2: support in the comments section. Now, as you touched on, Amy,
- 18:17Speaker 2: while Michaela refused to give Kerry the clout by naming her,
- 18:21Speaker 2: Michaela's new boyfriend, Maxwell Krause, named her in the comments section.
- 18:26Speaker 2: So he tagged Kerry Gribble and wrote, Face card always declined.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Do you know what that means? I have no idea
- 18:33Speaker 1: what that means. Yeah, I had to look it up.
- 18:35Speaker 1: So if anyone is in the same.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Boat as us, a face card is a social media
- 18:41Speaker 2: slang term that means someone is beautiful or attractive so
- 18:45Speaker 2: they can get anything they want like an unlimited credit card.
- 18:48Speaker 2: So this is a really popular term on TikTok. So
- 18:51Speaker 2: for example, someone might say Rihanna's face card never declines.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Meaning that she looks beautiful no matter what.
- 18:58Speaker 2: So this guy's basically saying you're gross.
- 19:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:00Speaker 2: So he is saying that her face cut is always
- 19:03Speaker 2: declined because she looks bad.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Isn't that kind of hypocritical?
- 19:07Speaker 2: Well, it's sort of going against the messaging of this video,
- 19:10Speaker 2: which is to not bully people over their appearance. But
- 19:12Speaker 2: I guess he's just being that overprotective boyfriend because she
- 19:15Speaker 2: explained in the video that he's saying, oh, let's go
- 19:17Speaker 2: out and swim in the creek or let's go and.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Do this outdoors.
- 19:20Speaker 2: And she's basically been living as a hermit crab because
- 19:23Speaker 2: she feels so insecure and doesn't want to put a
- 19:25Speaker 2: bikini on. Well, his comment ended up getting over 23,000 likes.
- 19:31Speaker 2: I also wonder if she hasn't been as active on
- 19:33Speaker 2: OnlyFans because if she's not wanting to wear a bikini
- 19:36Speaker 2: in public, I wonder if she doesn't also want to
- 19:38Speaker 2: put up that sort of content online. I noticed a
- 19:41Speaker 2: lot of people were commenting that they were from Adelaide
- 19:44Speaker 2: and they had no idea who Kerry Gribble was before
- 19:47Speaker 2: the whole incident. I must admit, I didn't realize who
- 19:49Speaker 2: she was either. I'd only heard about her on the
- 19:51Speaker 2: grapevine through a friend. When I saw Michaela's video popped
- 19:55Speaker 2: up and it was like, some bitch from Adelaide.
- 19:57Speaker 1: I was like, fuck, who is she talking about?
- 20:00Speaker 2: Again, again, I was thinking it's about us from last
- 20:03Speaker 2: week with Nikki and Lucy. Now, interestingly, since being called
- 20:06Speaker 2: out by Michaela, Kerry has returned to TikTok. So she
- 20:10Speaker 2: took a break from the app while she went through
- 20:12Speaker 2: a breakup and.
- 20:14Speaker 1: She's never really been that active on there.
- 20:16Speaker 2: She's got 11,000 followers and just 10 videos. But in
- 20:20Speaker 2: the space of 24 hours, she has uploaded four videos.
- 20:23Speaker 2: So it seems like she's trying to cash in on
- 20:25Speaker 2: the notoriety. Wow. I mean, they say any publicity is
- 20:29Speaker 2: good publicity. Has she gained any new followers? It only
- 20:32Speaker 2: seems like she's gained about 200 extra followers, but I
- 20:34Speaker 2: guess we'll have to see in the next couple of days.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Let's get into our highs and lows of the week.
- 20:41Speaker 2: And my high for the week is that all of
- 20:43Speaker 2: the big brands have started bringing out their advent calendars.
- 20:48Speaker 2: And it's so exciting because I know it's only September,
- 20:51Speaker 2: but it's starting to feel a lot like Christmas. All
- 20:54Speaker 2: the shops are decked out. They've got all their Christmas
- 20:56Speaker 2: decorations out. Well, today is officially three months till Christmas.
- 21:00Speaker 1: That is so exciting.
- 21:01Speaker 2: My algorithm knows me too well because it keeps giving
- 21:04Speaker 2: me countdowns to Christmas. It'll be like, there's only 15
- 21:06Speaker 2: weeks left. Yeah. It's like, this is the sixth Monday
- 21:11Speaker 2: before Christmas.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:13Speaker 2: I mean, when is it too early to put your
- 21:14Speaker 2: tree up? Because I'm contemplating it at the moment. I
- 21:16Speaker 2: need a bit of happiness in my life. I think
- 21:18Speaker 2: the start of November is now socially acceptable. But just
- 21:22Speaker 2: back to the advent calendars. So all of the big
- 21:25Speaker 2: beauty brands have dropped their advent calendars and they are
- 21:28Speaker 2: popping up all over my TikTok feed. And the funniest
- 21:31Speaker 2: thing is there are so many thirsty influencers who are
- 21:35Speaker 2: calling out to brands to give them their calendars.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Well, because some of them are worth like a grand,
- 21:39Speaker 1: aren't they?
- 21:40Speaker 2: Well, the most expensive Australian one I've seen is the
- 21:43Speaker 2: Jo Malone calendar, which costs $ 795.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Wow.
- 21:47Speaker 2: But you do get a cent for each day, like
- 21:50Speaker 2: each 24 days. Yeah, but aren't they only like little
- 21:52Speaker 2: tiny cents? They are. But some of these beauty brands,
- 21:56Speaker 2: their calendars are only 12 days long, which I'm not
- 21:58Speaker 2: really for.
- 21:59Speaker 3: No.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Whilst we're talking about beauty brands, I just want to
- 22:02Speaker 2: hijack your segment for a second and say that I
- 22:06Speaker 2: am so sorry if anything I said came across as
- 22:09Speaker 2: age shaming in the Emmylou topic.
- 22:10Speaker 1: I felt I was doing the opposite of age shaming.
- 22:12Speaker 2: This was Tuesday's show you're referring to. There's a snippet
- 22:15Speaker 2: on our Instagram story and in it I said that
- 22:19Speaker 2: I think that she was trying to target her line
- 22:22Speaker 2: at some 40 and 50 year olds who don't feel
- 22:25Speaker 2: like they belong at Mecca or Sephora. I wasn't saying
- 22:29Speaker 2: that all 40 and 50-year-olds don't shop there because if anything-
- 22:32Speaker 2: And understandably, some of the 40-year-olds who listen to our
- 22:34Speaker 2: show were offended because if anything, I actually think people
- 22:38Speaker 2: in their 40s are the ones who have the money
- 22:40Speaker 2: to be shopping at Sephora. Yeah, I get that.
- 22:42Speaker 1: But I totally understand that.
- 22:44Speaker 2: I was saying that there are some people- some women
- 22:47Speaker 2: in that category who only like shopping at a chemist's warehouse.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Or a Priceline. I fucking love Priceline. I love chemist's warehouse.
- 22:54Speaker 1: I love a discount chemist. Anyway, you're apologising. Can I
- 22:57Speaker 1: just say there's two demographics of shoppers.
- 22:59Speaker 2: I'm not saying that your age has anything to do
- 23:01Speaker 2: with it.
- 23:01Speaker 1: You mentioned age though.
- 23:03Speaker 2: I mentioned age because that's Emmylou's target market is in
- 23:06Speaker 2: that age group. All right. Anyway, again, I'm the last
- 23:10Speaker 2: person to be ageist. I'm five years away from turning
- 23:12Speaker 2: 40 myself or four and a half years away.
- 23:15Speaker 1: So, again. Again. All right.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Well, moving on to Emco Beauty because they are making
- 23:22Speaker 2: headlines this year because they have released their first beauty
- 23:26Speaker 2: advent calendar ever and it sold out within 24 hours.
- 23:30Speaker 1: So how much was theirs? Well, theirs was only.
- 23:32Speaker 2: $ 59, which is why I think it sold out, but
- 23:36Speaker 2: it was only 12 days long and it was packed
- 23:38Speaker 2: of their Emco Beauty minis. They are actually going to
- 23:42Speaker 2: restock their calendars, but they're getting so much hype on
- 23:45Speaker 2: TikTok and Instagram.
- 23:46Speaker 1: It's a good little present, isn't it, though? It really is.
- 23:48Speaker 1: I want to go get one.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Kate sent me through ones from Kmart where you got
- 23:51Speaker 2: a little soft toy every day. I think that's really
- 23:53Speaker 2: cute for kids. The one calendar I want is, I mean,
- 23:57Speaker 2: it's in America. So Costco are selling Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
- 24:02Speaker 2: Advent calendars, and each day you get a small figurine
- 24:05Speaker 2: of one of the characters.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Wow.
- 24:08Speaker 2: I did a little Google to see if you could
- 24:09Speaker 2: get them in Australia. And apparently Timu sells it, Timu, whatever.
- 24:14Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh, I don't shop from there.
- 24:16Speaker 2: I've bought stuff from there once before, but every time
- 24:18Speaker 2: someone brings it up, I mean, I'm guessing it's not
- 24:21Speaker 2: the best quality and it's probably not great to support them,
- 24:24Speaker 2: but everyone says they have their credit card details stolen. Yeah.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Apparently they steal your credit card details. So I wouldn't
- 24:29Speaker 2: be recommending shopping on there.
- 24:30Speaker 1: I just want a chocolate calendar. Is that wrong?
- 24:33Speaker 2: Like Yeah, I'm wondering how much they're going to be
- 24:35Speaker 2: this year because everything has just gone through the roof.
- 24:38Speaker 2: I would love just like a Freddo or Caramello one
- 24:41Speaker 2: where you've got a little, like I feel like that's
- 24:42Speaker 2: enough chocolate for the day.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the perfect size.
- 24:45Speaker 2: I'm not going to bring a low to the podcast
- 24:47Speaker 2: this week because your low is quite graphic and I
- 24:49Speaker 2: will let you get into that one. Well, I was
- 24:52Speaker 2: quite horrified to discover that I have this massive bump
- 24:55Speaker 2: on my wrist and you were over at my house, Amy,
- 24:58Speaker 2: and I said, oh my God, what the fuck is
- 25:00Speaker 2: this on my wrist? It looks like a bone is
- 25:02Speaker 2: poking out and.
- 25:02Speaker 1: You're like, it's nothing.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Nothing's wrong. Yeah, but I have to say that instantly
- 25:07Speaker 2: to reassure you because you're so melodramatic.
- 25:10Speaker 1: How fucked does it look though? Like it looks absolutely fucked.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I feel like it's the way you're holding your wrist
- 25:14Speaker 1: as well. Yeah, when I've been anyway.
- 25:15Speaker 2: So I did a bit of Googling because I instantly
- 25:17Speaker 2: wanted to be told not cancer.
- 25:19Speaker 1: So apparently it could be two things.
- 25:22Speaker 2: I haven't been to the doctor yet, but it could
- 25:24Speaker 2: be a ganglion cyst. My husband keeps joking saying, get
- 25:27Speaker 2: your ganglion cyst away. And if you've been lucky enough
- 25:30Speaker 2: not to have one, it is a fluid-filled bump that's near.
- 25:33Speaker 1: The wrist joint.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's skip over the gross details.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Well, yeah, but it's actually quite funny because, well, your
- 25:38Speaker 1: husband told me this.
- 25:39Speaker 2: So there's videos of people trying to smash a ganglion cyst. Okay,
- 25:44Speaker 2: so everyone's going to stop listening to this. No, I
- 25:46Speaker 2: think it's quite fascinating. So apparently they smash it and
- 25:49Speaker 2: it explodes. But, I mean, most people go to the
- 25:52Speaker 2: doctor and they get it drained. What else I think
- 25:55Speaker 2: it could be is, by the way, if you have one,
- 25:57Speaker 2: don't do that. No, well, no, please don't. The other
- 26:00Speaker 2: thing I think it could be is a carpal boss
- 26:02Speaker 2: because they are.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Caused by- A carpal boss. It's called carpal boss.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Apparently it's caused by overuse and I spent, well, that
- 26:11Speaker 2: sounds funny because I know what you're thinking, but it
- 26:14Speaker 2: was because I did five hours of weeding on the
- 26:18Speaker 2: weekend and then it popped up a couple of days later.
- 26:21Speaker 1: And I knew my arms were sore.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Is this more of a sign of that you actually
- 26:24Speaker 2: don't do that much manual labor normally?
- 26:27Speaker 1: Or actually your.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Partner pointed out that perhaps it could be from constantly scrolling.
- 26:31Speaker 1: On your phone.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Well, it could be one of the two, but I
- 26:33Speaker 2: think it was brought on by the weeding, but I
- 26:35Speaker 2: will get it sorted soon. Yeah. Well, what's your high
- 26:38Speaker 2: of the week to end this podcast with a high?
- 26:40Speaker 2: My high of the week is a bit lame, but
- 26:42Speaker 2: here we are. So It is the collaboration that Coke
- 26:46Speaker 2: and Oreo have done. So they have released a Coke,
- 26:49Speaker 2: which has a hint of Oreo flavor. And then they've
- 26:52Speaker 2: also released an Oreo, which has a hint of Coke flavor.
- 26:55Speaker 2: So we did a taste test the other day. We're
- 26:57Speaker 2: going to upload it on our Instagram and TikTok.
- 26:59Speaker 1: It is Coke Zero as well, I must add. And
- 27:01Speaker 1: I was so surprised.
- 27:03Speaker 2: How good the Coke with a hint of Oreo is
- 27:05Speaker 2: because I'm a big fan of vanilla Coke and it
- 27:08Speaker 2: was even better.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Like it was just a little bit sweeter.
- 27:11Speaker 2: It made you feel like you were enjoying an Oreo
- 27:13Speaker 2: at the same time.
- 27:14Speaker 1: It was good. On the other hand, I wasn't that
- 27:16Speaker 1: keen of the Oreos with the hint of Coke.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Like they were a bit, I didn't mind them. It
- 27:21Speaker 2: was almost like they had popping candy in them, but
- 27:23Speaker 2: go and check out those taste tests if you are interested.
- 27:26Speaker 2: And I think that is all we have time for today.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Thank you so much for joining us for this episode.
- 27:30Speaker 2: If you have enjoyed it, could you please make sure
- 27:33Speaker 2: you leave us a five-star review?
- 27:35Speaker 1: It is always the highlight of my week. Thank you
- 27:37Speaker 1: so much.
- 27:37Speaker 2: There was a new listener who sent in saying that
- 27:40Speaker 2: even though they have to Google half the people they
- 27:42Speaker 2: were talking.
- 27:43Speaker 1: About, they really enjoy it. So thank you so much.
- 27:45Speaker 1: It's nice to hear of some new listeners. That is
- 27:47Speaker 1: really nice. And also slide into our DMs.
- 27:50Speaker 2: If there is anything else that you want us to
- 27:52Speaker 2: do a taste test on. We really want to start
- 27:54Speaker 2: taste testing some Christmas stuff as well. And this episode
- 27:57Speaker 2: was recorded on the traditional land of the Kaurna people
- 28:00Speaker 2: of the Adelaide Plains. We pay respect to elders past
- 28:02Speaker 2: and present. And don't forget to follow us on TikTok
- 28:06Speaker 2: and also on Instagram at Outspoken underscore the underscore podcast.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Our subs episode also comes out tomorrow, so make sure
- 28:12Speaker 2: you check that one out.
