Latest / Kenny Wallace Media / Breaking: NASCAR Settles & The Trial Is Over | Charlie Marlow Show
Transcript
- 0:00Look, it's not hyperbole to say this is one of the biggest days
- 0:06in the history of NASCAR. And look, you can go back to
- 0:10when NASCAR was formed, obviously the tragic Dale
- 0:16Earnhardt senior passing. But you tell me, folks.
- 0:19You tell me what's a bigger day in the history of the sport of
- 0:24NASCAR than today with this lawsuit being settled at trial
- 0:30day nine. And look, it was pretty obvious
- 0:34if you were following this trial and lawsuit, it was pretty
- 0:37obvious, especially since the trial started, that things were
- 0:42not going well for NASCAR, especially the last couple days.
- 0:46And if you go back to 15 months, whatever it was when this was
- 0:51first filed, it seemed like the teams had the early momentum.
- 0:57And then it did seem like a while in the summer that the
- 1:00momentum had switched to NASCAR. But a lot of those rulings,
- 1:06really all of them had to do with the injunction, with the
- 1:09injunction for 2025 in terms of 2311 racing and Front Row
- 1:15Motorsports trying to race as chartered teams in 2025 S that
- 1:20went NASCAR's way during the season.
- 1:23But then once this trial started, I'm, I'm trying to
- 1:27think of a good day that NASCAR had and I'm, I'm trying to be,
- 1:31I'm trying to be down the middle here.
- 1:33If you really look at the last couple days, then I, I just
- 1:36think that all of the team owners joining in, deep down, I
- 1:43think we can all agree all of the team owners wanted Michael
- 1:48Jordan, Bob Jenkins, 2311 Racing, Front Row Motorsports to
- 1:53come out on top. I, I think look, you have to
- 1:56give all the credit in the world to Michael Jordan, Denny Hamlin,
- 2:00Curtis Polk, again, Bob Jenkins for having the bravery and the
- 2:05courage to challenge NASCAR. Because from what we've heard
- 2:09from all the reports, the declarations, all the letters
- 2:14from the team owners for the last 15 months, it was obvious
- 2:19that all of the team owners did not like this charter deal.
- 2:23And you can use whatever language, gun to our head, we
- 2:26felt like we had to do it. We had to do it for our
- 2:28employees. We got hundreds of employees
- 2:30that are depending on these charters.
- 2:33None of these team owners wanted to sign that charter deal.
- 2:37Now, obviously 2311 racing in front row, they didn't.
- 2:41But in a way they were also doing it on behalf of all the
- 2:44teams. And I tweeted this earlier, I
- 2:47said, look again, give Michael Jordan, Denny Hamlin, Bob
- 2:51Jenkins all the credit for their bravery.
- 2:54But in the end to get it over the finish line, it was a team
- 2:58effort. The letters from Rodger Penske
- 3:02that was read yesterday, you had the the letter from Rick
- 3:06Hendrick that was read, I believe that was 2 days ago,
- 3:09Correct me on my timing, but Rick Hendrick says, look, we won
- 3:13a couple championships, we've lost $20 million, whatever it
- 3:17was, right? And then you tell me, I mean,
- 3:22the timing is awful, is awful. Interesting that they settled
- 3:27this morning and it seemed like really they probably settled
- 3:31overnight because think about this, the first tweets I'm
- 3:34seeing and all these reporters that do a great job covering
- 3:37this this trial in Charlotte, including Matt Weaver, who's
- 3:40contributed a lot of great content to this YouTube channel.
- 3:44But it seemed like the second they got to court today, it was
- 3:47time to talk settlement. And I don't, I don't think I
- 3:51miss your conspiracy theory. I don't think I'm a genius for
- 3:53saying this was the straw that broke the camel's back, The
- 3:57letter from Johnny Morris. Now I'm sitting here in St.
- 4:00Louis, MO Johnny Morris down there, usually in the
- 4:03Springfield area. I mean, heck, he runs the whole
- 4:06freaking area. If you ever been down there,
- 4:07it's amazing. Big Cedar Lodge, unbelievable,
- 4:11all the golf courses down there, everything he does with
- 4:14conservation and and respecting, you know, Native American
- 4:18history and everything down there.
- 4:19It's incredible. And and Johnny Morris Bass pro
- 4:22shops. If if this isn't NASCAR, folks,
- 4:25tell me what is? If this isn't NASCAR, an old
- 4:29school business owner who's been sponsoring this sport forever,
- 4:33writing a letter, handwriting a letter from his tree stand.
- 4:40He hand wrote it from his tree stand as he's out there hunting.
- 4:44And then of course they, they type it up.
- 4:46But if you saw the letter, it was 3 pages.
- 4:48And at the end there was some hand handwritten the signature
- 4:51from Johnny Morris, the dude that may have saved the teams.
- 4:55And again, I, I think we're being honest, I, I think the
- 4:58teams were going to win anyway. But when one of the big dogs who
- 5:03sponsors Richard Childress, obviously, who sponsors a race,
- 5:08who's been sponsored and everything.
- 5:10I mean, think about how many different cars Bass Pro, Johnny
- 5:14Morris have been on over the years, all the different series.
- 5:18He's all over the place. And he wrote that letter and
- 5:22let's be real about that letter. And, and he's buddies.
- 5:25They are very good buddies, he and Richard Childress.
- 5:28And he was not happy with what Steve Phelps said about Richard
- 5:32Childress in those texts. And I've said all along, Kenny
- 5:36and I did a video last week, and this was during the trial, but I
- 5:42said, look, I said the worst, and this is obvious, I'm no
- 5:44genius. I said the worst thing that's
- 5:47come out of this trial or this lawsuit are those texts from
- 5:52Steve Phelps. And I said that because NASCAR
- 5:56fans, a huge sentiment of NASCAR fans that I read your comments
- 6:00all the time and they've thought for years that NASCAR looks at
- 6:03them as rednecks, right? And, and this sport which grew
- 6:07in the South and the Carolinas and all that, NASCAR is
- 6:11expanding West and going to the big cities, which by the way, I
- 6:13think NASCAR should do that. But I, I do think NASCAR's
- 6:17admitted that they, they, they lost some of the hardcore race
- 6:21fan trying to chase the casual race fan.
- 6:24And that fan may not even exist, to be honest with you.
- 6:28But the fact that they called a legend, I, I think Richard
- 6:32Childress is 80. Don't quote me on that.
- 6:34I believe I looked that up and he's 80, around 80, a guy who
- 6:37was a racer, an owner who owned Dale Earnhardt Senior's car, to
- 6:42call that dude a stupid redneck, to say he should be taken out
- 6:47back and flogged. All that did, all that did was
- 6:51just reinforce the way a lot of NASCAR fans already thought the
- 6:55NASCAR suits, the NASCAR execs thought about them.
- 6:59I mean, and, and look, if they're talking about Richard
- 7:01Childress that way, think about that.
- 7:04And so look, you can go back and read the Johnny Morris letter.
- 7:07It's about 2 1/2 pages. I read it last night.
- 7:10I think it's the third page of that letter.
- 7:12He basically says, and he makes a baseball analogy, he says,
- 7:17think if you're the commissioner of MLB and you disrespect one of
- 7:21the greats, whether it's Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Mickey
- 7:24Mantle, Babe Ruth, whoever it is, you're probably not going to
- 7:27have that job for long. And you shouldn't or you
- 7:30wouldn't have that job for long. Let's be real about what that
- 7:34was, folks. That was Johnny Morris, one of
- 7:36the big dogs, one of the the big sponsors of NASCAR, essentially
- 7:41calling for Steve Phelps, the commissioner of NASCAR, to be
- 7:45fired. That's what that was.
- 7:47And again, I, I think all of the momentum in the lawsuit was
- 7:50trending towards the teams anyway.
- 7:53But I think that was the straw that that broke the camel's back
- 7:56and it's Johnny Morris, but it's probably not just Johnny Morris.
- 8:01There's probably a lot of other sponsors that were pissed off
- 8:04about that and and kind of said, look, NASCAR, you know what?
- 8:08You've done it your way for a long time and let's let's settle
- 8:12this thing. You disrespected Richard
- 8:14Childress and let's get this thing.
- 8:17Let's get this thing completed. And I, I will say this, I was
- 8:21watching the, the post settlement press conference on
- 8:26the steps. Matt Weaver again shot that.
- 8:28We put it on the channel here. And I, I really like the way
- 8:31they presented it. They, they weren't mean
- 8:33spirited. They weren't going after each
- 8:35other. Jeffrey Kessler, is it Beuterman
- 8:39the way you pronounce it? Michael Jordan.
- 8:41I could barely hear Jim France speak, but Michael Jordan
- 8:46presented it in a way like he wasn't, he wasn't spiking the
- 8:49football. He wasn't smoking the victory
- 8:51cigar. Now he, he might tonight.
- 8:53You might see some pictures of that.
- 8:54I already saw a picture of them toasting with a drink that Denny
- 8:57Hamlin posted. But I've said this all along and
- 9:03and I, I did a video the other day where I said this is not as
- 9:08big of a deal as people think. And I didn't mean that in a way
- 9:12that it's not a big deal. What I meant was because I
- 9:16covered sports for 20 years, I've covered a lot of this.
- 9:19This was the first time NASCAR had gone through this, a strike,
- 9:24a lockout, whatever. And what I said was, and I, I
- 9:27feel this way, this is not as bad, folks.
- 9:31I, I really believe that this is not as bad as a strike or a
- 9:36lockout where you miss the baseball season.
- 9:39I remember being 12 years old in 94, there was no World Series
- 9:43that next year. They didn't have the whole
- 9:46season after COVID in baseball. They had a shortened season and
- 9:51Kenny and I talked about this. I think I've covered 2 NHL
- 9:53lockouts. I covered an NFL lockout when
- 9:56the Rams were here, about whenever.
- 9:58That was 10/12/15 years ago. I can't remember.
- 10:00I don't have a great memory. The NBA has gone through the
- 10:04lockouts. I know they had a 50 game season
- 10:06back in the late 90s, I believe, when the Spurs won the NBA
- 10:10championship, and I can't even remember, but essentially
- 10:13there's either a lockout strike or a threat of a lockout or a
- 10:17strike every time a collective bargaining agreement ends in
- 10:21sports. So my point all along is, yes,
- 10:25this is really embarrassing for NASCAR, but at least you're
- 10:28doing it at trial. At least you're doing it in
- 10:31court. You're not missing the Daytona
- 10:33500, right? Race fans?
- 10:36Wouldn't that be 10 times worse? All these other sports have
- 10:39missed games, in some cases missed entire seasons.
- 10:43Wasn't the NHL the NHLI believe has missed at least one season
- 10:47and help me outlook that up. I think maybe multiple seasons.
- 10:50They've had two big labor issues in the last 20 years, if I'm
- 10:56remembering correctly. So this was embarrassing, by the
- 10:58way, bringing up Steve Phelps. It'll be interesting to see if
- 11:02Steve Phelps has a job after all this because that's that's what
- 11:07Johnny Morris called for. Johnny Morris, don't mess
- 11:09around. He he swings a big stick.
- 11:12Let's just say that I love Johnny Morris, by the way.
- 11:15It it's funny though, because I actually, I'm not going to
- 11:18mention his name, but at the gym the other day I talked to a guy
- 11:21who knows Steve Phelps, friends with Steve Phelps.
- 11:24Now, he didn't talk to him about the trial, but he kind of said
- 11:28he goes, he was kind of in agreement with me and saying,
- 11:31you know, this is this is not the end of the world.
- 11:33Yeah. It's really embarrassing.
- 11:35It's really embarrassing to have your texts, your emails leaked.
- 11:39But it's not the end of the world.
- 11:40And, and I get that too, but then again, it, it could be the
- 11:44end of Steve Phelps world with NASCAR.
- 11:46I don't know. I want to hear from you guys.
- 11:48Do you? Do you feel like Steve Phelps
- 11:50has to step down? Do you feel like he has to?
- 11:54I've seen a lot of comments on X and YouTube kind of saying the
- 11:57Steves are next. Steve O'Donnell though, just
- 12:01based on the texts, and I could be wrong, I mean, I I'm going
- 12:05back weeks here, I don't remember Steve O'donnell's texts
- 12:09being as scathing. They were clearly spooked by
- 12:14live golf and they were clearly spooked by by SRX as a threat.
- 12:20And you know what? Here's where I'm really trying
- 12:22to be down the middle here. I understand why NASCAR was
- 12:26pissed about SRX even though if you look at it big picture
- 12:3030,000 feet, I think all racing being popular is good for all
- 12:34racing. I thought SRX was a great
- 12:36product by the way. Those races were cool, short,
- 12:39just like entertaining and O Kenny raced in a in a couple of
- 12:42them. I thought those were pretty
- 12:44cool. But I understand why NASCAR
- 12:47would be pissed about specifically the timing of SRX
- 12:51because they're trying to negotiate a billion dollar TV
- 12:54deal. They have their broadcast
- 12:56partners and they're saying, hey, we're trying to negotiate
- 12:59with FOX NBC, obviously it was prime.
- 13:02It was it was CW ended up with the package.
- 13:04But we're on ESPN, we're on a competitor.
- 13:07And then all of a sudden these these big NASCAR guys are racing
- 13:09over there, which again, I think is big for the sport.
- 13:12But I can understand why NASCAR wouldn't love the timing of that
- 13:17while they're they're negotiating their TV deal.
- 13:22So, and I'm going to get your comments 645 of you watching
- 13:25live. Really appreciate that.
- 13:27And I'll get to some of your comments.
- 13:28I will not be able to get to all of them because Dang, there's a
- 13:31ton of comments here. But I will say this and I'm
- 13:34repeating myself, but I have so much respect for what the France
- 13:37family has built over 75 years. And I was watching that press
- 13:41conference and it's it's hard not to watch that.
- 13:43And you see Jim France, you see Ben Kennedy in the background
- 13:45and look, this is a loss. Let's let's, I mean this, this
- 13:49is a settlement. But let's be real, this is a
- 13:51loss for NASCAR. The teams won, clearly.
- 13:54And so I'm kind of like trying to read body language and all
- 13:57that. And again, they, they lost.
- 13:59But I, I truly believe this because I have so much respect
- 14:01for what the France family built over 75 years.
- 14:06I think while today was a legal loss for the France family, I
- 14:10truly believe that today the France family legacy is better
- 14:16based on what happened today. Because look, generations live
- 14:21and die. And if NASCAR keeps going for
- 14:24decades and hundreds of years, hopefully, and we always look
- 14:27back at the France family as the creator of this great sport that
- 14:30we all love, NASCAR is healthier.
- 14:34In my opinion, it's going to be healthier moving forward because
- 14:38of today because the teams are going to be healthier and the
- 14:43owners are going to be happier and more money is going to be
- 14:46flowing towards the teams, you would think.
- 14:49And I think in the end, that's good for NASCAR.
- 14:52So while the France family, they're taking their L today, I,
- 14:55I truly believe this. I, I truly believe that in the
- 14:59end, this is a good day for the sport of NASCAR, which they
- 15:03created. So in the end, it's going to be
- 15:05good for them. Let's see 16 minutes in.
- 15:09Let's get to a couple comments. First of all, my guy, Jeffrey
- 15:11King throwing us a couple bucks. Let's see.
- 15:15Yes, it's over now. Let's focus on a new format.
- 15:19Steve Phelps is the reason Noosegate happened.
- 15:23Everybody's still talking about Noosegate.
- 15:25Thank you. Jeffrey King.
- 15:27Yeah, I believe that was Steve Phelps.
- 15:28I mean, I wasn't there for the investigation, but I hear you.
- 15:33I know people are still pissed about that.
- 15:35I get it. I get it.
- 15:37Let's see, my guy. Mr. Junior says Charlie M.
- 15:41What it do brother? Thank you.
- 15:44OK, before I get to some more comments here, let's go and read
- 15:48some statements. Got 639 of you watching.
- 15:51I appreciate that. Denny Hamlin's statement.
- 15:54This is from four hours ago. Obviously Denny Hamlin, co-owner
- 15:57of 2311 racing quote. I've cared deeply about the
- 16:01sport of NASCAR my entire life. Racing is all I've ever known,
- 16:04and this sport shaped who I am. That's why we were willing to
- 16:08shoulder the challenges that came with taking the stand.
- 16:11We believed it was worth fighting for a stronger and more
- 16:14sustainable future for everyone in the industry.
- 16:17Teams, drivers and partners will now have the stability and
- 16:21opportunity they deserve. Our commitment to the fans and
- 16:24to the entire NASCAR community has never been stronger.
- 16:27I'm proud of what we've accomplished, and now it is time
- 16:30to move forward together and build the stronger future this
- 16:34sport deserves. That's Denny Hamlin.
- 16:37Let's see, how about Rick Hendrick?
- 16:40Rick Hendrick says, quote, millions of loyal NASCAR fans
- 16:43and thousands of hard working people rely on our industry and
- 16:46today's resolution allows all of us to focus on what truly
- 16:50matters, the future of our sport.
- 16:52For more than 40 years, NASCAR racing has been my passion.
- 16:55I believe deeply what we can accomplish when we work
- 16:58together. This moment presents an
- 16:59important opportunity to strengthen our relationships and
- 17:02recommit ourselves to building a collaborative and prosperous
- 17:05future for all stakeholders. I'm incredibly optimistic about
- 17:09what's ahead. When our industry is united,
- 17:12there's no limit to how far we can go or how much we can grow
- 17:16the sport we love. By the way, I should have said
- 17:18this earlier. I think you know most of the
- 17:20news. I'm just giving you my opinion,
- 17:21but obviously the settlement is the teams get permanent charters
- 17:27or Evergreen charter. So it's kind of like a franchise
- 17:31in in other sports. But the best part of that is
- 17:35we've heard all the stories over the years of all the old, old
- 17:38time race teams that closed up shop and had nothing.
- 17:42And we're selling things for scraps, right?
- 17:45And now you have true equity, you have true value.
- 17:50And those charters are only going up.
- 17:52Let's be real, Michael Jordan knew that.
- 17:54He knew the second those charters become permanent,
- 17:57whatever the going rate, what was it, 45,000,000?
- 17:59Well, they always say that was yesterday's price.
- 18:02The price of poker has gone up. I mean, those are going to
- 18:05double quick. Honestly, they might have
- 18:07doubled already. You tell me.
- 18:09Some economists tell me the fact that they're now permanent, they
- 18:12may have. They may have literally doubled
- 18:14in value already. If not, it's going to be
- 18:16doubling soon and I think it'll only go up from there.
- 18:19Folks, look at sports franchises, I mean look at every
- 18:24freaking sport. What are they selling for?
- 18:27What do the Lakers sell for? Did the Lakers sell for 10
- 18:30billion? Am I right on that?
- 18:32Something like that? The Saint Louis Cardinals,
- 18:36whatever they were bought for, I think in 95, correct me if I'm
- 18:40wrong, 150 million, something like 150 million ish I believe
- 18:45now valued at like $3 billion. So look, would it surprise me if
- 18:52a charter that right now is going for 4045 million, would it
- 18:55surprise me if that charter is worth 500 million in the next
- 18:59decade? That would not surprise me one
- 19:01bit whatsoever. People love sports.
- 19:04People love live sports. You have equity value with the
- 19:06charters. And I, I've, I've also, I
- 19:09thought all along it, it was pretty obvious.
- 19:11And you, you heard this from Curtis Polk, from some of the,
- 19:14the leaked messages that Curtis Polk was going to fight for
- 19:17permanent charters. It seemed like that was, that
- 19:20was kind of what they were really fighting for.
- 19:22I'm sure they'll debate over some other percentages of, of
- 19:25revenue. And on that note, let me find
- 19:28that for you. I believe I saw it from Jenna
- 19:31Fryer, by the way, so many reporters did a great job of
- 19:34covering this for all the NASCAR fans.
- 19:38Let me find this for you because I believe she had some, yeah,
- 19:41she had some info on some other details of the settlement.
- 19:44Let me find it for you. There was a picture of there's a
- 19:47picture of everybody celebrating the lawyers, Jeffrey Kessler and
- 19:50Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan. Nice little toast after they
- 19:53win. OK, here's this is from Jenna
- 19:57Fryer. She does a great job covering
- 19:59NASCAR as well. This is from 11:50.
- 20:01This is 3 hours ago she tweets. Source.
- 20:04And this is murky because there's going to be a Thursday
- 20:07afternoon call to discuss new charter model.
- 20:10Teams will now share an international revenue for the
- 20:13first time. The three strike rule will be
- 20:16reinstated as A5 strike rule. Excuse me.
- 20:19Teams will get 1/3 of revenue from IP intellectual property.
- 20:25Charter revenue will have to be periodically negotiated amidst
- 20:28new media rights deals. And I like that, you know,
- 20:31that's, that is a compromise because I will say this, look, I
- 20:36understand NASCAR wanting to tie the charters to the TV deals.
- 20:40I get that. That makes sense.
- 20:41Again, I'm not I think I've been pretty fair in this all along.
- 20:45I always I don't want to say I was rooting for the teams.
- 20:49I kind of always just figured the teams were going to win.
- 20:51And the only reason I say that look, I came in and NASCAR
- 20:54really covering it four years ago.
- 20:56I covered a lot of NASCAR and O six O 7.
- 20:58But again, my background is other sports name name me any
- 21:02league that that was able to have an authoritarian hold over
- 21:08the sport. It just doesn't happen.
- 21:10Every other sport had their their big labor issue decades
- 21:14ago. Think about Curt Flood in
- 21:16baseball. What was that?
- 21:17Was that the late 60s, early 70s?
- 21:19I think what's cool about this too is look, Denny Hamlin and
- 21:22Michael Jordan, they're going to go down as the Curt Floods of
- 21:25NASCAR and they they will be celebrated in that way.
- 21:29Curt Flood lost his career because of challenging baseball
- 21:32with free agency and I think he was traded again.
- 21:35Check me on that. Didn't want to be traded.
- 21:38Denny Hamlin's going to race a couple more years.
- 21:40Michael Jordan stayed in the sport.
- 21:42They were able to challenge NASCAR, beat NASCAR and stay in
- 21:46the sport. And I've, I've thought all
- 21:48along, I never thought, I never thought Michael Jordan, come on.
- 21:53You think Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin were trying to
- 21:55destroy NASCAR? No, they just wanted a fair
- 21:58piece of the pie in their minds. Fair piece of the pie.
- 22:02They wanted more money. You really think Michael Jordan
- 22:05with all he's got going, you think Michael Jordan wanted to
- 22:07start his own race series? Hell no, he didn't.
- 22:11And you don't build that freaking beautiful facility.
- 22:14What do they call it? Is it airspeed?
- 22:16You don't build that facility if you're trying to start your own
- 22:18series and leave NASCAR. Although I guess, I guess you
- 22:20could build it if you're trying to start your own series.
- 22:22But I'm saying they weren't like he wanted to stay in NASCAR.
- 22:25They just wanted a a fairer piece of the pie.
- 22:28And we did a video last week, Michael Jordan, nobody knows
- 22:31branding like Michael Jordan, junk man, right?
- 22:35Actually, you know what, look at this.
- 22:37What should I say? You're going to fall off.
- 22:39I have, I don't have jump man, but there's my Nikes.
- 22:42But my point is, Michael Jordan understands the value of NASCAR.
- 22:46He wasn't trying to destroy NASCAR, right?
- 22:49He just wants a fairer piece of the pie so he can still be
- 22:55involved in NASCAR and his business can be healthy in
- 22:58NASCAR and he can employ, they can employ tons of people
- 23:03because NASCAR is successful. So there you go, we're 24
- 23:07minutes in and so many comments. Let me check real quick on the
- 23:11old YouTube. By the way, real quick folks,
- 23:14this might be this might be our greatest day ever in the four
- 23:18years of the Kenny Wallace YouTube channel, which by the
- 23:20way, our four year anniversary is tomorrow.
- 23:23We started this channel December 12th, 2021.
- 23:27That's when we created, I created the channel that day.
- 23:29I think Kenny's first video was the 13th.
- 23:31But either way, today, I mean today Jeezo Pete's, I think
- 23:37we've had like 250,000 views today alone and we still have
- 23:41the Rick Mast video, which I have to check.
- 23:43I haven't even edited it. Rick Mast gave his take and
- 23:46we'll put that later. But right now what do we got?
- 23:50We got 3000 people have been watching this live stream and
- 23:54right now we have 733 watching live.
- 23:57OK, I can't get go super long because I have to go pick up my
- 24:02kids from school. Actually, we're going to Ohio
- 24:05tonight where I'm from for an early Christmas.
- 24:09There's my Christmas mug. So I got about 8 minutes.
- 24:12I'll read some of your comments here.
- 24:15And again, I really appreciate you guys, you guys watching and
- 24:18chiming in. So here we go.
- 24:20I should go all the way back because the people that started
- 24:22first, they deserve their comments read.
- 24:25So we'll go back. Woo, 25 minutes.
- 24:28OK, North Country says I heard each team will now get 2 extra
- 24:31sets of tires per race. You think that's the settlement?
- 24:34That's what they decided on. Millions in lawyers for two
- 24:38extra tires. Let's see.
- 24:42OK, we got Chris Klein. Hey, Charlie.
- 24:46Glad it's over and the team's got their deal.
- 24:48Let's go racing, boys. That's what I love about this.
- 24:53You know, also, you finished it before the holidays.
- 24:56Everybody can enjoy Christmas and New Year and all that and
- 24:59the calendar turns, you get ready for the Daytona 500, we're
- 25:02going to race. It's all good.
- 25:03I think people a bygones be bygones.
- 25:05These are these are adults, man. They battle in court, They
- 25:09battle on the track. They'll figure it out.
- 25:11NASCAR was built on people freaking running from the law
- 25:14with moonshine fighting in the pits.
- 25:17Everybody's going to be fine, folks.
- 25:19I have to say, I just like to be honest with you guys.
- 25:22I wanted this trial to last forever.
- 25:25I did. I wanted this outcome.
- 25:27I wanted I wanted a settlement. I want the sport to be healthy.
- 25:31I figured the teams would win. I'm being selfish here.
- 25:34This trial was and and lawsuit was the greatest thing for
- 25:38content creation we've ever seen.
- 25:39And I'm just being honest folks. We're a business too.
- 25:43We want more money too, just like NASCAR.
- 25:45And the views for the videos that Kenny was doing the last
- 25:48couple weeks have been insanity. So selfishly, I never wanted
- 25:52this trial to end. I'm just being honest with you
- 25:53guys, by the way, our guy Kenny, let's give him some love.
- 25:57What I love about Kenny, many, many things, but how about the
- 26:00fact that, you know, he's obviously not at court.
- 26:03This dude's on a cruise. He's breaking down.
- 26:06All these folks are at court breaking it down.
- 26:08Kenny Wallace is on a cruise ship with frickin the Caribbean
- 26:12in the background like this with his phone doing videos with the
- 26:17frickin ocean in the background getting 100,000 views per video.
- 26:21That's why I love Kenny Wallace, right?
- 26:23We're old school. We're old school, right?
- 26:27I love it. That makes me chuckle.
- 26:29Every time I see Kenny with the phone with the Caribbean in the
- 26:32background and he's given his opinion, it just cracks me up.
- 26:35I love it. Let's see.
- 26:38Doctor Diff says it's too bad they didn't eliminate stage
- 26:41racing. You know what?
- 26:42I had some people saying, oh, this isn't going to change
- 26:45anything. The racing still sucks, you
- 26:46know, the next Gen. car sucks, blah blah blah.
- 26:48And look, I think from a, from APR standpoint, NASCAR now has
- 26:53a, a great opportunity to right some wrongs.
- 26:57And, and by the way, I understand that this was a bad
- 27:00look, the trial was a bad look for NASCAR.
- 27:02But again, I actually think it's good for the sport.
- 27:04I think NASCAR needed to be brought down a notch financially
- 27:09and, and, and from the power structure, right?
- 27:12You need a little work. This is America, folks.
- 27:15You need a little more of a democracy, right?
- 27:16We all, we love democracies, we don't love dictatorships.
- 27:20And I'm, I'm not saying NASCAR was a dictatorship, but it kind
- 27:24of was for a while. It was their way or the highway
- 27:27for 75 years. And I think this trial and
- 27:29lawsuit showed that we're, we're in a different world now.
- 27:33We're in a different world now. But on that note, again, I think
- 27:37this is, this is good for NASCAR big picture.
- 27:39I think the sport will be healthier now.
- 27:41I think you have some positives you can roll out here.
- 27:45Maybe you want to wait till after the holidays.
- 27:47I don't know, timing wise, I'm not like a marketing person, but
- 27:51you already said more horsepower for the next Gen. car.
- 27:54If there's going to be some little tweaks the next Gen. car,
- 27:57I think people are going to be excited about that.
- 27:59So you can own a day of the news by announcing the tweaks of the
- 28:02next Gen. car and then what everybody's really looking
- 28:04forward to. I hope this is a good thing,
- 28:08which is the the playoff format. Now, if it's not going to be
- 28:12full season points, I don't think anybody thinks it is.
- 28:14If it's not going to be a Chase, if it's more of like a three or
- 28:17four race finale, maybe fans won't be happy, but it's
- 28:21certainly better than what we had before.
- 28:23So there's going to be some positive news, I think on the
- 28:26Next Gen. car and on the playoff format that we can roll some
- 28:30positive momentum into Bowman Gray into the Daytona 500 after
- 28:36this lawsuit was pretty, pretty ugly.
- 28:40And the text and the emails for the better part of 2-3 weeks.
- 28:44And there you go. Look, my wife's home.
- 28:46You know what, it's perfect timing because I have to go
- 28:48anyway. We're getting close to 30
- 28:51minutes here. Thank you guys for watching,
- 28:54Really appreciate it. And again, the teams win, NASCAR
- 28:58settles. But in the end, I think this is
- 29:00good for the sport of NASCAR. And in the end, I think this is
- 29:03good for the legacy of the France family.
- 29:06Thank you all for watching. I love you all 657 of you right
- 29:10now watching live. Let's do one more check.
- 29:13We've had 30. How many how many 3600 people
- 29:17watching this live stream. So I'm off to Ohio for the early
- 29:22Christmas celebration. Enjoy your Christmases new year,
- 29:25happy holidays. Kenny will have tons more videos
- 29:28live from the Caribbean with his phone like this with the
- 29:32beautiful ocean in the background.
- 29:34I'm sorry I couldn't read all your comments guys.
- 29:36Love you all.
