Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Welcome to the Become who you Are podcast, a production of the John Paul II Renewal Center.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I'm Jack Riggert, your host, and I am so excited that you're with me, even though I'm gonna challenge you to help me.
- 0:20Speaker 1: I want you to help right the injustice that's being done to today's children with me.
- 0:25Speaker 1: I want you to help right the injustice that's being done to today's children with me.
- 0:26Speaker 1: I want you to help me get the word out on Love Ed.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Love Ed is a I don't even like to call it a program, it's more of a to do what I said to right the injustice that's being done to today's children, and parents need to have the courage to educate their children and also, as John Paul would say so often, don't be afraid, be not afraid.
- 0:51Speaker 1: This is your children, right.
- 0:53Speaker 1: So Love Ed is indispensable for children and families.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Love Ed empowers parents to effectively teach their children about the beauty of love and sexuality, and I'm going to unpack this episode to give people a reason why.
- 1:06Speaker 1: So if you could help me get this podcast out, I'll write something up in our newsletter that'll go out next week.
- 1:13Speaker 1: If you're not on our newsletter list already, get on our newsletter list and get that newsletter that's going to go out.
- 1:20Speaker 1: So we're going to be talking about children and families and all kinds of things, so really good stuff.
- 1:26Speaker 1: So buckle up and get ready for today's episode.
- 1:38Speaker 1: A George Barna study found that 30% of millennials those born between 1984 and 2002, identify as LBGTQ.
- 1:46Speaker 1: That's a lot almost a third, but almost 40% of Generation Z, those that came right after them, born up until about 2012 or so.
- 1:55Speaker 1: So much confusion among young people today.
- 1:59Speaker 1: What's going on here?
- 2:00Speaker 1: My heart goes out to young people today growing up in a very twisted, distorted and toxic culture and they've been thrown out like innocent lambs to the wolves just to get chewed up and spit out.
- 2:11Speaker 1: It's almost unconceivable.
- 2:12Speaker 1: It's certainty and injustice that's being done to our children today and parents, you're going to have to step up.
- 2:18Speaker 1: You know They've been repeatedly lied to about the very basics concerning the meaning of human life and dignity, about marriage, the family, authentic love, the true meaning of sex and our sexuality and many other things.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Particularly disturbing is the sexual indoctrination, grooming and desensitizing of our children's consciences in the public school system, including exposing them to pornography.
- 2:46Speaker 1: It's amazing.
- 2:47Speaker 1: As many of you know, I actually got banned from a local library for speaking out against the pornography in children's elementary and high schools, in their libraries.
- 3:00Speaker 1: It's amazing, john Paul II wrote, closely connected with the formation of a conscience right, and we're talking about children's consciences being formed here too is the work of education which helps individuals to be ever more human, leads them ever more fully to the truth, instills in them growing respect for life, trains them in right interpersonal relationships.
- 3:23Speaker 1: In particular, john Paul said there's a need for education about the value of life from its very origins.
- 3:28Speaker 1: What does this mean In the beginning?
- 3:31Speaker 1: What was it like?
- 3:32Speaker 1: What was that model like?
- 3:33Speaker 1: We need to know those models so we can live those out.
- 3:35Speaker 1: He said it's an illusion to think that we can build a true culture of human life in this society or in any society if we do not help young people accept and experience sexuality and love and the whole of life according to their true meaning and their close interconnection.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Sexuality which enriches the whole person, manifests its innermost, its inmost meaning in leading the person to a gift of self in love.
- 4:04Speaker 1: That's what our sexuality is supposed to do, to be a sign right of self-giving love.
- 4:10Speaker 1: But to trivialize our sexuality.
- 4:14Speaker 1: The trivialization of sexuality, he says, is among the principal factors which have led to the contempt of new life.
- 4:21Speaker 1: We trivialize sexuality.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Planned Parenthood teaches it, say, in schools.
- 4:26Speaker 1: And then what happens?
- 4:27Speaker 1: A pregnancy comes, and then we abort it right.
- 4:31Speaker 1: So again, you know, we have a contempt for the new life that might come out of that.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Only a true love, john Paul said, is able to protect life.
- 4:40Speaker 1: There can be no avoiding the duty to offer, especially to adolescents and young adults, an authentic education in sexuality and in love, an education which involves training in chastity as a virtue and so that they understand the close connection right of their body and soul and the other person's body.
- 5:00Speaker 1: And how I look at the other person's body.
- 5:02Speaker 1: This again what John Paul would call the spousal meaning of the body not to take and grasp and lust and use, but to be a total gift to one another.
- 5:10Speaker 1: This is what leads to authentic love.
- 5:12Speaker 1: This is what our hearts really desire.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Those poor kids this is where the injustice comes from.
- 5:17Speaker 1: They don't even know that, in a society split by tensions and conflicts, caused by the violent clash of various kinds of individualism, selfishness, all these ideologies that I mentioned already, these gender ideologies twisting and distorting these poor young kids' hearts and minds.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Children must be enriched, not only then with a sense of true justice.
- 5:42Speaker 1: What is just?
- 5:43Speaker 1: What is just?
- 5:44Speaker 1: Well, just is to speak the truth, and only that leads to respect for the personal dignity of each individual and also, more powerfully also more powerfully besides justice a sense of true love.
- 5:58Speaker 1: What does that look like?
- 5:59Speaker 1: How is it understood as a sincere and disinterested service with regards to others?
- 6:04Speaker 1: How is it understood as a sincere and disinterested service with regards to others?
- 6:06Speaker 1: John Paul calls spousal love disinterested service toward others.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Well, it's not that we're not interested in them.
- 6:11Speaker 1: When we love them our neighbor, our spouse, our friends it's that we're not interested in getting anything back.
- 6:17Speaker 1: We love them as God loves us.
- 6:20Speaker 1: God loves us without expecting anything back in return.
- 6:24Speaker 1: He just pours out his love.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Of course, to really come into the fullness of this, we have to receive love and give it back right, especially when we're talking about the poorest, those in need, et cetera.
- 6:35Speaker 1: So it goes out into the whole culture.
- 6:38Speaker 1: The family, though, is the first and fundamental tool of social giving.
- 6:42Speaker 1: As a community of love, a family, it finds in self-giving the law that guides it and makes it grow.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Why do we have so many dysfunctional families today?
- 6:51Speaker 1: Because we've stepped out of this.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Just look around.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Right.
- 6:54Speaker 1: So education, love, ed, and what we wanna do when we help parents and kids come together.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Education and love as self-giving is also the indispensable premise for parents called to give their children a clear and delicate sex education.
- 7:10Speaker 1: We call it love, ed.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Love education because you're talking about the science and the reality of our bodies and the reproductive, procreative capabilities to bring in a new person in the world.
- 7:22Speaker 1: But who also, you know to connect that to love.
- 7:25Speaker 1: So the science with the theology, with God, with the whole plan, and then bonding the parents and the children together because we open up a dialogue while they're there together.
- 7:34Speaker 1: See, we're faced with a culture that largely reduces human sexuality to the level of something commonplace, since it interprets and lives it in a reductive and impoverished way John Paul talked about of linking it solely with the body and with selfish pleasure, taking the true meaning out of it.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Right?
- 7:51Speaker 1: So the educational service of parents and this is what we help them to do must aim firmly at training in the area of sex that is truly and fully personal.
- 8:02Speaker 1: What does that mean?
- 8:03Speaker 1: You know what are these great desires of the heart, for sexuality is an enrichment of the whole person body, emotions, soul and it manifests its innermost meaning in leading the person to the gift of self in love.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Sex education, which is the basic right and duty of parents, must always be carried out under attentive guidance, whether at home or in educational centers chosen and controlled by parents.
- 8:31Speaker 1: In this regard, the church reaffirms the law of subsidiarity, which the school is bound to observe in sex education, by entering into the same spirit that animates the parents Subsidiarity right, bringing this down to the level, the lowest level, which is what the person and the family, marriage and the family.
- 8:51Speaker 1: This is where this takes place, and in the church, not in the Biden administration.
- 8:57Speaker 1: We saw how twisted and warped that is.
- 8:59Speaker 1: So we bring this back down.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Parents, you're responsible for this.
- 9:03Speaker 1: For this reason, the church now is there and they should be supporting them, and this is what we're trying to wake up.
- 9:09Speaker 1: The other thing I challenge you to do is, you know early in my introduction, is to get this out to parents.
- 9:15Speaker 1: But we gotta get this out to pastors the other side of this coin, right and say you need to be there and help parents and families that are coming to your parish, that are trying to be enriched and live this out.
- 9:26Speaker 1: We need to help them, and that's what John Paul II Renewal Center does, and that's what we do when we bring law back into a parish.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Very easy, very simple to do, really.
- 9:36Speaker 1: So for this reason, the church is firmly opposed to an often widespread form of imparting sex information disassociated with moral principles, like in a school, by Planned Parenthood or whatever.
- 9:48Speaker 1: They just tell you how to have sex.
- 9:51Speaker 1: It's so ridiculous.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Why do we put up with that?
- 9:54Speaker 1: That would merely be an introduction to the experience of pleasure and a stimulus leading to the loss of serenity.
- 10:00Speaker 1: We lose the peace within our heart, we lose happiness because we lost what?
- 10:04Speaker 1: And why are they doing this?
- 10:07Speaker 1: While the kids are still in the years of innocence?
- 10:10Speaker 1: They open them up to vice.
- 10:12Speaker 1: This is where the injustice really comes in.
- 10:14Speaker 1: These kids are innocent, they're pure lambs being led to the slaughter.
- 10:21Speaker 1: And what do they do?
- 10:21Speaker 1: They go right in there and twist their hearts into vice, opening them up to lust.
- 10:26Speaker 1: It doesn't take much at that level if we haven't taught them anything else, because they just start to think wow, this is normal, this is natural to use somebody else.
- 10:36Speaker 1: So great and splendid is the educational ministry of Christian parents, this ministry of education, especially in our sexuality, that St Thomas Aquinas the doctor, the major, this major doctor, this great doctor of the church, has no hesitation in comparing it with the ministry of priests.
- 10:57Speaker 1: He says this some only propagate and guard spiritual life by a spiritual ministry.
- 11:03Speaker 1: That is the role of the sacrament of holy orders, you know, as to become a priest, others do it for both corporal and spiritual life, right.
- 11:13Speaker 1: So for us this is corporal and spiritual life and this is brought about by the sacrament of marriage.
- 11:19Speaker 1: So, again, some only propagate and guard spiritual life by their spiritual ministry and we say this is a spiritual ministry, the role of priests, whatever.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Well, that is a spiritual ministry, but that also needs to turn around and become very concrete, very practical and reach out to what?
- 11:35Speaker 1: To married people the other end of this book, end of the Bible, and because we live a corporal and a spiritual life, right, we're having intimate relations and marriage with one another as a sacrament, the sacrament of marriage.
- 11:50Speaker 1: We have to understand what that sacrament is.
- 11:52Speaker 1: This is the time where God fills us in that life-giving sacrament of marriage.
- 11:54Speaker 1: We have to understand what that sacrament is.
- 11:55Speaker 1: This is the time where God fills us in that life-giving sacrament of marriage, which a man and a woman join together in order to beget offspring and bring them up to what?
- 12:03Speaker 1: To worship God.
- 12:04Speaker 1: So we are engaged, everyone, in a definitive battle, aren't we, between the forces of the culture of life, the one we're just describing here, to build up marriage and the family and love and link it to God himself, especially in the Mass and the Eucharist.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Right, and we bring these forces together and this creates this culture of life.
- 12:25Speaker 1: But we have a battle between that force of the culture of life and the culture of what John Paul would say death.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Death is this unhuman way of treating a person, losing the dignity and the actual understanding of what a human person is.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Right, you know, going after the child in the womb when people get too old, euthanasia, you know, it goes on and on, you know, overlooking the poor, the rich countries, just taking, taking, taking.
- 12:52Speaker 1: So all of these things right, one brings a culture of life, one brings a culture of death.
- 12:57Speaker 1: And in this battle, in this battle and this is so important for all of us to rally with each other around and do what I just said for parents to step up to the plate, to connect to the churches, the local churches, subsidiarity, right.
- 13:12Speaker 1: And because in this battle there's gonna be no grand leader or political force, no matter who we vote for for president, if we voted for a pope, which of course we don't, but no matter who we voted for a pope, they're not going to save you.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Only you can save you.
- 13:30Speaker 1: St Augustine said the God who created without you is not going to save you without you.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Augustine said, you know, the God who created without you, you know, is not going to save you without you.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Well, it's in part of this being saved ourselves, stepping into this love story and then teaching this to our kids that we actually gain eternal life, right, so that there's no one coming on a great stallion to rescue humanity.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Yet there is a hero in the story, or better yet, millions of heroes.
- 13:55Speaker 1: That hero is you and the millions of others who, through their collective actions and the subsidiarity level of their marriages, their families, starting with their own heart and then going out and becoming this love in the world, right.
- 14:12Speaker 1: So it's that hero, heroes, you, me, all of us that step up to this universal call of holiness and living that out.
- 14:17Speaker 1: That's, and you know, st Irenaeus was correct when he exclaimed this.
- 14:22Speaker 1: He said the glory of God is mankind, men and women fully alive.
- 14:28Speaker 1: That's how we reflect the glory of God in the world.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Millions of mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, who rally behind St Catherine of Siena's bold proclamation.
- 14:38Speaker 1: She said become who you are.
- 14:40Speaker 1: That's where the name of this podcast came from.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Become who you are and you will light the world on fire.
- 14:46Speaker 1: And the world on fire with what.
- 14:48Speaker 1: This is from Jesus right.
- 14:49Speaker 1: This is the world on fire with love.
- 14:53Speaker 1: If we understood who we were and became who we were, the flames of millions upon millions of newly alive human hearts united together as one body would light the world on fire and reign in a new culture of life.
- 15:06Speaker 1: John Paul put a plan together to bring us back into the story.
- 15:10Speaker 1: It's a story between the culture of life and the culture of death, and they're just really just two plans or systems that rule human hearts.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Plan A is the city of God, the way we've been created.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Plan B is the city of man, the city of Satan, the anti-creation that wants to destroy the Imago Dei marriage between a man and a woman and take that life that comes out of that right.
- 15:36Speaker 1: So this is the fierce battle.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Today, it seems the majority have chosen to dwell in the city of man, haven't they?
- 15:43Speaker 1: We're all paying the price for this folly when you look around and you see the evil, the destruction, the violence.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Sometimes we forget that it's those broken families especially.
- 15:52Speaker 1: You know, I'm from Chicago and I look at Chicago and the violence there and the lack of education, how the schools are failing.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Well, what's at the bottom of that?
- 16:00Speaker 1: What's at the bottom of that?
- 16:02Speaker 1: We should all know this.
- 16:03Speaker 1: It's because they're fatherless, because they've grown up in wedlock, out of wedlock, and no fathers in the home.
- 16:09Speaker 1: In the home, when you have no fathers in the home, or fathers that have just used their mothers right to have sex with, you know, you see how this is going and then just walk away.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Hey, have an abortion, you don't want to have an abortion, I'll walk away.
- 16:25Speaker 1: And what does the government do?
- 16:26Speaker 1: The government now is supplementing that, right?
- 16:28Speaker 1: I mean, you know the government now is saying, yeah, this is the way it should be.
- 16:32Speaker 1: They're promoting dysfunction by subsidizing families out of wedlock.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Now, that doesn't mean we shouldn't help families, right?
- 16:41Speaker 1: So I don't want to go into all that right now.
- 16:42Speaker 1: We're always there to help, the church is always there to help.
- 16:45Speaker 1: But when the government gets in the business of actually being an implementer, an instrument to breaking down marriage and the family and then using our tax dollars to destroy the inner city life of kids and 43% of every child today is born out of wedlock so you see how this is ripping apart and we're all paying again a folly for this.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Thankfully, again, john Paul II had a blueprint to take it back, but he said the hub, and here's the basics right Around the culture of life and the culture of death both revolve around what the human person, the individual human heart that connects like a branch to the vine with Jesus Christ.
- 17:27Speaker 1: But the culture of life promotes more rewarding personal fulfillment, doesn't it?
- 17:32Speaker 1: You know the culture of death is not leading anywhere.
- 17:36Speaker 1: It's not going to bring you peace and joy and happiness, all that sacrificial love in the culture of life that we're talking about here, when you give yourself away to another person, you become a person of love and you'll know this in your heart, right?
- 17:50Speaker 1: So again, the key aspect of this fulfillment comes through exercising spousal love and in families constituted either through marriage or through a relationship to God, and the human family, you know like a pastor or religious has a relationship with God.
- 18:05Speaker 1: They still are a father or mother.
- 18:06Speaker 1: That's why we call a priest father, a sister, you know, mother, especially if the mother's in charge, like Mother Teresa of Calcutta.
- 18:14Speaker 1: And so why do we do that?
- 18:16Speaker 1: Because they're mothering spiritual children.
- 18:18Speaker 1: The key aspect of that, then, is this tight relationship with God to aim our burning, yearning desires to love and be loved with God, allow him to purify them, step into the eternal love story and then make that visible in the world.
- 18:32Speaker 1: The indispensability of families for personal fulfillment requires social and political activism.
- 18:39Speaker 1: We have to all be involved.
- 18:41Speaker 1: We have to understand what that means, what a family means, protect marriage as sacred, not meaningless, between anybody, or two men or two women or whatever.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Whether that happens or doesn't happen, we have to say no within a church.
- 18:57Speaker 1: There's a meaning for this right.
- 18:58Speaker 1: There's a meaning for this because it revolves around the two becoming one, opening up to life becoming three.
- 19:04Speaker 1: There's only one way that that can happen, and then you have to be responsible, if you enter into that relationship, that you don't enter into it without love, because if you do do this again getting back to my earlier statement, this is the pivot point where we render life meaningless.
- 19:22Speaker 1: We don't even want to know about the child in the womb.
- 19:25Speaker 1: We'll abort it.
- 19:26Speaker 1: It's amazing what happens when you twist it.
- 19:29Speaker 1: So we have to defend the person and we have to build a culture of life.
- 19:33Speaker 1: So the first step in building this culture of life is to rediscover ourselves, subjectivity, personhood and our own liberty.
- 19:41Speaker 1: It revolves then, in other words, around what it means to be a human person.
- 19:45Speaker 1: The man made evil.
- 19:47Speaker 1: We experience in the world all, throughout the world today and throughout history, begins when the light of the spirit.
- 19:53Speaker 1: The world today and throughout history begins when the light of the Spirit, the Holy Spirit, goes out of individual hearts who did not only commit evil then but go on to inspire, coerce or manipulate others to follow them down this path of destruction.
- 20:04Speaker 1: You see this all the way, from gangs to the Biden administration.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Where you have the deep state, you have this one in the church.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Look at judicious supplicants where you have the deep state, you have this one in the church.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Look at judicious supplicants.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Where you have the deep state, the deep church coming out with the blessing of same-sex marriage, the anti-creation, twisting, distorting.
- 20:22Speaker 1: So there's some battles.
- 20:23Speaker 1: That's why I bring back to subsidiarity.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Find a local parish with a good pastor and that's where you're going to link yourself up.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Make sure that the mass is done beautifully there and entering into the mass, because when all the smoke and fog clears, our yearning, burning desire to love one another, to be loved, to enter into marriage, points straight at the Eucharist and Christ's desire to become one flesh with you, to become one flesh with me.
- 20:50Speaker 1: See, then we go to the eternal well, we're filled with divine life and love and we become that life and love with each other.
- 20:57Speaker 1: So, alexander Sholtsonitsyn right, you've heard me talk about him before.
- 21:03Speaker 1: If you haven't read the Gulag Acapellical, it's a big book but it's worth it.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Just the opening statements, it's just worth it.
- 21:10Speaker 1: But anyways, this great Russian writer said and he was in the Gulags himself and he really learned this in his own pain and suffering in the gulags, the Russian gulags.
- 21:19Speaker 1: He said Marxism, communism.
- 21:21Speaker 1: What we're seeing today is neo-Marxism, right this twisting and distortion.
- 21:26Speaker 1: It's an atheistic idea first of all, and then it attacks marriage and the families to weaken the basic structures of society, and then it fills the power vacuum with people right At the power that are grasping for power.
- 21:40Speaker 1: We're seeing this today.
- 21:41Speaker 1: So again, schroedtzenitz says this Marxism claims that some groups and classes of human beings are good and others bad.
- 21:49Speaker 1: That's what we're seeing today with these ideologies and canceling people that are sticking up for marriage or pro-life, and we're seeing that attacked right.
- 21:58Speaker 1: So some groups and classes of human beings are good and others bad.
- 22:02Speaker 1: So to perfect itself, humanity, marxism says, must isolate and eliminate the bad people.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Well, who's the bad people?
- 22:10Speaker 1: The bad people is not based on an objective moral reality, on Jesus Christ, on God, because we've thrown him out.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Now we live in plan B, the city of man.
- 22:21Speaker 1: I will be like God.
- 22:23Speaker 1: This is from Genesis 3.
- 22:24Speaker 1: I will be like God.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I'll be able to tell you what's good and what's evil.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Well, that's always a power vacuum, right?
- 22:30Speaker 1: Schultz and Nietzsche came to realize instead that the dividing line between good and evil lies within every single individual human heart.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Isn't that beautiful, I mean, that's really where we're at today.
- 22:42Speaker 1: It's under every single human heart.
- 22:45Speaker 1: So if you read the book of Revelation, you're going to find out.
- 22:49Speaker 1: In fact, I'm going to.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Maybe I'll pull that up real fast.
- 22:52Speaker 1: You know, I said when all the smoke and fog clears.
- 22:55Speaker 1: You know, it points right to the Eucharist and God's desire to be one flesh with us.
- 23:00Speaker 1: And so you hear this right at the end.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Read the end of the book of Revelation.
- 23:05Speaker 1: I'll just read you a part as I close here.
- 23:07Speaker 1: This is from chapter 21, the new heaven and the new earth.
- 23:11Speaker 1: So when you're struggling in marriages, when you're struggling with these ideas of God, open yourself up to him and know that he's look around first of all and see the evil and the sin, and know that the bridegroom himself, the bridegroom, came into the story.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Where was the first miracle?
- 23:28Speaker 1: Was at a wedding feast, right?
- 23:30Speaker 1: What did Jesus do at that wedding feast?
- 23:33Speaker 1: He turned water into wine, didn't he?
- 23:36Speaker 1: And did he make the cheap stuff?
- 23:37Speaker 1: No, he made the best wine.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Did he make just enough to get by?
- 23:42Speaker 1: No, he made it in abundance.
- 23:43Speaker 1: This is John 10.10.
- 23:44Speaker 1: I came to give you life in abundance.
- 23:46Speaker 1: I am the way, the truth and the life.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Well, what does that all point to that?
- 23:51Speaker 1: This is the bridegroom, the eternal bridegroom.
- 23:53Speaker 1: See our marriages, our desire to be married, where the two become one, open to life.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Three, a marital sexual union.
- 23:59Speaker 1: It points directly.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Now, god is not a sexual being, right?
- 24:03Speaker 1: God created our sexuality to be a sign of his eternal Trinitarian love story.
- 24:08Speaker 1: So we're a sign, a sacramental sign, of that when two become one, when John Paul would say to men, he said to young men that were married, he said before you make love to your wife, before you enter the Mary bed, take your shoes off, because you're entering unto holy ground, you're renewing your wedding vows.
- 24:27Speaker 1: See, this has to be forever, because that's God's covenant with us, is forever.
- 24:32Speaker 1: So again, revelation 21,.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away and the sea was no more.
- 24:43Speaker 1: This is the bridegroom right.
- 24:45Speaker 1: And I saw the holy city New Jerusalem coming down from heaven, from God.
- 24:49Speaker 1: And I saw the holy city New Jerusalem coming down from heaven, from God, prepared, how, as a bride adorned for her husband.
- 24:54Speaker 1: And I heard a great voice from the throne saying behold, the dwelling of God is with men.
- 24:59Speaker 1: See, god wants to marry us.
- 25:02Speaker 1: That's the whole Bible in five words God wants to marry us.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Behold, the dwelling of God is with men.
- 25:09Speaker 1: He will dwell with them and they shall be his people and God himself would be with them.
- 25:14Speaker 1: And then verse five says and he who sat upon the throne said behold, I make all things new.
- 25:19Speaker 1: This is Jesus up in heaven.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true.
- 25:24Speaker 1: And he said to me this is John saying that.
- 25:26Speaker 1: He said to me it is done.
- 25:27Speaker 1: I am the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end.
- 25:31Speaker 1: And to the thirsty I know that you're thirsty, I know you're clamoring for more.
- 25:35Speaker 1: He says to the thirsty I will give water without price from the fountain of the water of life.
- 25:39Speaker 1: He who conquers shall have this heritage and I will be his God and he shall be my son.
- 25:46Speaker 1: And as for the cowardly, the faithless, the polluted, as for murderers, fornicators, sorcerers, idolaters and all the liars, their lot shall be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
- 26:00Speaker 1: This is the second death.
- 26:02Speaker 1: This is how important this is.
- 26:03Speaker 1: This is why it's an injustice when we do not speak these things to our children.
- 26:08Speaker 1: This is not just how you're gonna, what kind of marriage you're gonna have.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Yes, it means all of that, because a really truly wonderful marriage means both spouses right.
- 26:17Speaker 1: The husband and the wife are both opening themselves up to the eternal bridegroom, drawing from the source that Jesus is talking about here, and this is what we give to one another.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Now, if you don't do that, you're going to die, and then you're going to have the second death.
- 26:36Speaker 1: And then, finally, then came one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues and he spoke to me saying this come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the lamb, and in the spirit, the Holy Spirit, he carried me away to a great high mountain and showed me the holy city, jerusalem, coming down out of heaven, having the glory of God, its radiance like the most rare jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.
- 26:59Speaker 1: See, I am the alpha, the omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end, and those who wash their robes right this is confession and baptism have the tree of life, he says in Revelation 22.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Outsider, all the dogs, the sorcerers, the fornicators again the murderers, the idolaters, everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
- 27:20Speaker 1: I, jesus, have sent my angel to you with this testimony for the churches.
- 27:24Speaker 1: I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright and morning star, the spirit, the Holy Spirit and the bride, the church and morning star, the spirit, the Holy Spirit and the bride, the church say what Come, come, come to us, come to us, inviting all of us into the church, into holy communion.
- 27:39Speaker 1: See, this is the Eucharist, and let him who hears say come and let him who is thirsty come, let him who desires take the water of life without price.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Good to be with you.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Glory to God.
- 27:53Speaker 1: One last thing before I let you go Again.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Try to push this out.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Look at our website.
- 27:59Speaker 1: It's going to be in the show notes Love Ed.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Print out or save a copy of the flyer, the Love Ed flyer.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Let's get that out to our families.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Give us a call, let's get this into your parish.
- 28:10Speaker 1: It's not that hard to set up.
- 28:12Speaker 1: We could work with anybody over at the parish, so pretty simple.
- 28:16Speaker 1: It's a turnkey solution.
- 28:17Speaker 1: I can even teach people at the parish to do this, even though we usually come in and help them run it for the first time.
- 28:23Speaker 1: The second thing is we had to add a lot of staff for this, to train people, to go out all kinds of different things and invest in materials, of course, computers and obviously all kinds of stuff.
- 28:36Speaker 1: We have to raise well over $100,000 this year, in addition to what we normally take in.
- 28:42Speaker 1: So that's a big number.
- 28:43Speaker 1: So please, if you can, please think and consider making a donation to the John Paul Center.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Hey, god, love you.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Great to be with you.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Bye-bye everyone.
