  The power of a tender heart. Have you ever found yourself

  rushing into a decision, sending that text before you thought it
• 0:19
  through, saying something in the heat of the moment, making a
• 0:23
  move before you really knew if it was the right time, and then
• 0:26
  immediately thinking, Why did I do that?
• 0:30
  First Samuel chapter 13 gives us a painful example of exactly
• 0:34
  that. Saul was waiting for the prophet
• 0:37
  Samuel to come and offer a sacrifice before going into
• 0:40
  battle. But the people were getting
• 0:42
  anxious and starting to scatter, and Samuel was late.
• 0:46
  So Saul did it himself. He made the offering, stepping
• 0:49
  outside his lane, taking matters into his own hands.
• 0:53
  And Samuel's response when he arrived.
• 0:56
  First Samuel chapter 13, verses 8 and 9 tell the story.

  Saul couldn't wait. He acted impulsively, and that
• 1:04
  decision had lasting consequences.

  Proverbs chapter 17, verses 19 and 20 draw a clear line.

  One whose heart is corrupt does not prosper, but the one with a

  faithful heart succeeds. The contrast here isn't just
• 1:19
  between good and bad people. It's between impulsive and

  faithful hearts. A faithful heart isn't a passive
• 1:26
  heart, it's one that loves God enough to trust his timing even
• 1:30
  when it's uncomfortable. We live in the most fast-paced,
• 1:34
  instant everything culture that has ever existed.

  Want information a seconds? Want validation?

  Tap send and wait for likes. Want answers?

  Ask an AI. The idea of genuinely waiting,
• 1:50
  sitting with uncertainty, not forcing a resolution, feels
• 1:54
  almost countercultural. But God keeps returning to this
• 1:57
  theme throughout Scripture. Wait on me.

  Trust my timing. A tender, faithful heart is one
• 2:04
  that can hold that tension. Psalm 68, verses 35 and 36
• 2:09
  remind us of why that trust is warranted.

  God is mighty in His strength. He makes peace in your borders.

  God's strength and His peace go together.
• 2:19
  When we stop trying to manufacture our own outcomes and
• 2:22
  lean into His power, something shifts.
• 2:25
  Not always in the circumstances immediately, but in us.
• 2:28
  We find peace that doesn't make sense.
• 2:31
  We find clarity in the waiting. We find that God's timing wasn't
• 2:35
  slow, it was right. A tender heart isn't a weak
• 2:39
  heart. It's a heart brave enough to
• 2:41
  trust God when everything inside you wants to push ahead.

  Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for
• 2:49
  caring about the condition of our hearts.
• 2:52
  Forgive us for the times we've rushed ahead when you were
• 2:55
  asking us to wait. Help us to cultivate faithful
• 2:58
  hearts, hearts that trust your timing, lean on your strength,
• 3:02
  and make decisions that honor you rather than just relieve our
• 3:05
  anxiety. Teach us to be still and know
• 3:08
  that you are God in Jesus name, Amen.

  English Bible Saul was 30 years old when he became king, and he

  reigned over Israel 42 years. Saul chose for himself 3000 men

  of Israel, of which 2000 were with Saul in Mitch Mash and in

  the Mount of Bethel, and 1000 were with Jonathan in Jiber of

  Gilgal, and the people were scattering from him.

  Saul said, Bring the burnt offering to me here and the

  peace offerings. He offered the burnt offering.

  It came to pass that as soon as he had finished offering the

  burnt offering, behold, Samuel came and Saul went out to meet

  him, that he might greet him. Samuel said, What have you done?

  Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from

  me, and that you didn't come within the days appointed, and

  that the Philistines assembled themselves together at Mitch

  Mash. Therefore I said, now the

  Philistines will come down on me to Gilgal, and I haven't

  entreated the favor of Yahweh. I forced myself therefore, and

  offered the burnt offering. Samuel said to Saul, You have

  done foolishly. You have not kept the

  commandment of Yahweh your God, which he commanded you.

  For now Yahweh would have established your Kingdom on
• 10:50
  Israel forever, but now your Kingdom will not continue.
• 10:55
  Yahweh has sought for himself a man after his own heart, and
• 10:58
  Yahweh has appointed him to be Prince over his people.
• 11:01
  Because you have not kept that which Yahweh commanded you.
• 11:04
  Samuel arose and went from Gilgal to Jaiba of Benjamin.
• 11:10
  Saul counted the people who were present with him about 600 men.
• 11:15
  Saul and Jonathan his son, and the people who were present with
• 11:18
  them stayed in jabber of Benjamin.
• 11:21
  But the Philistines encamped in mishmash.
• 11:24
  The Raiders came out of the camp of the Philistines in three
• 11:27
  companies. One company turned to the way
• 11:30
  that leads to Offra to the land of Shul.

  Another company turned the way to Bait Horon, and another

  company turned the way of the border that looks down on the

  Israel, for the Philistines said, lest the Hebrews make

  themselves swords or Spears. But all the Israelites went down

  to the Philistines, each man to sharpen his own plowshare,

  matic, axe, and sickle. The price was one pay him each

  to sharpen Maddox plowshares, pitchforks, axes, and goads.

  So it came to pass in the day of battle that neither sword nor
• 12:10
  spear was found in the hand of any of the people who were with

  Saul and Jonathan. But Saul and Jonathan his son

  had them. The Garrison of the Philistines
• 12:20
  went out to the pass of Mitch Mash.
