Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations

rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, June 11th.
• 0:11
The power of a tender heart. Have you ever found yourself
• 0:15
rushing into a decision, sending that text before you thought it
• 0:19
through, saying something in the heat of the moment, making a
• 0:23
move before you really knew if it was the right time, and then
• 0:26
immediately thinking, Why did I do that?
• 0:30
First Samuel chapter 13 gives us a painful example of exactly
• 0:34
that. Saul was waiting for the prophet
• 0:37
Samuel to come and offer a sacrifice before going into
• 0:40
battle. But the people were getting
• 0:42
anxious and starting to scatter, and Samuel was late.
• 0:46
So Saul did it himself. He made the offering, stepping
• 0:49
outside his lane, taking matters into his own hands.
• 0:53
And Samuel's response when he arrived.
• 0:56
First Samuel chapter 13, verses 8 and 9 tell the story.
• 1:00
Saul couldn't wait. He acted impulsively, and that
• 1:04
  decision had lasting consequences.
• 1:07
Proverbs chapter 17, verses 19 and 20 draw a clear line.
• 1:12
One whose heart is corrupt does not prosper, but the one with a
• 1:16
faithful heart succeeds. The contrast here isn't just
• 1:19
between good and bad people. It's between impulsive and
• 1:23
faithful hearts. A faithful heart isn't a passive
• 1:26
heart, it's one that loves God enough to trust his timing even
• 1:30
when it's uncomfortable. We live in the most fast-paced,
• 1:34
instant everything culture that has ever existed.
• 1:38
Want information a seconds? Want validation?
• 1:43
Tap send and wait for likes. Want answers?
• 1:46
Ask an AI. The idea of genuinely waiting,
• 1:50
sitting with uncertainty, not forcing a resolution, feels
• 1:54
almost countercultural. But God keeps returning to this
• 1:57
theme throughout Scripture. Wait on me.
• 2:00
Trust my timing. A tender, faithful heart is one
• 2:04
that can hold that tension. Psalm 68, verses 35 and 36
• 2:09
remind us of why that trust is warranted.
• 2:12
God is mighty in His strength. He makes peace in your borders.
• 2:16
God's strength and His peace go together.
• 2:19
When we stop trying to manufacture our own outcomes and
• 2:22
lean into His power, something shifts.
• 2:25
Not always in the circumstances immediately, but in us.
• 2:28
We find peace that doesn't make sense.
• 2:31
We find clarity in the waiting. We find that God's timing wasn't
• 2:35
slow, it was right. A tender heart isn't a weak
• 2:39
heart. It's a heart brave enough to
• 2:41
trust God when everything inside you wants to push ahead.
• 2:46
Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for
• 2:49
caring about the condition of our hearts.
• 2:52
Forgive us for the times we've rushed ahead when you were
• 2:55
asking us to wait. Help us to cultivate faithful
• 2:58
hearts, hearts that trust your timing, lean on your strength,
• 3:02
and make decisions that honor you rather than just relieve our
• 3:05
anxiety. Teach us to be still and know
• 3:08
that you are God in Jesus name, Amen.
• 3:14
When a loved one's marriage is under strain, you may not know
• 3:17
what to say, but you can still know how to pray.
• 3:20
The Marriage Intercessor series gives tender, faith filled

• 3:28
conflict, and wounded hearts threaten a covenant.
• 3:31
These prayer scripts help you intercede with mercy, wisdom,
• 3:34
and hope, asking God to soften what is hardened, heal what has
• 3:39
been bruised, and restore peace where tension has taken root.

From broken communication to division to emotional repair,
• 3:47

Now I invite you to spend time with God in today's three-year
• 4:11
Bible reading plan. Proverbs Chapter 17 Verses 19 to
• 4:16
20 World English Bible He who loves disobedience, loves
• 4:21
strife. One who builds a Highgate seeks
• 4:24
destruction, one who has a perverse heart doesn't find
• 4:27
prosperity, and one who has a deceitful tongue falls into
• 4:30
trouble. Psalm Chapter 68 World English
• 4:34
Bible Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered, let them
• 4:39
who hate Him also flee before him.
• 4:41
As smoke is driven away, so drive them away.
• 4:45
As wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the
• 4:48
presence of God. But let the righteous be glad,
• 4:52
let them rejoice before God. Yes, let them rejoice with
• 4:55
gladness. Sing to God, sing praises to his
• 4:59
name, extol him who rides on the clouds to Yah His name, rejoice
• 5:03
before Him. A father of the fatherless and a
• 5:06
defender of the widows is God in his holy habitation.
• 5:10
God sets the lonely in families. He brings out the prisoners with
• 5:15
singing, but the rebellious dwell in a sun scorched land.
• 5:19
God, when you went out before your people, when you marched
• 5:21
through the wilderness, the earth trembled.
• 5:25
The sky also poured down rain. At the presence of the God of
• 5:28
Sinai, At the presence of God, the God of Israel, you, God sent
• 5:33
a plentiful rain. You confirmed your inheritance
• 5:36
when it was weary, your congregation lived therein.
• 5:39
You, God, prepared your goodness for the poor.
• 5:42
The Lord announced the Word. The ones who proclaim it are a
• 5:45
great company. Kings of armies flee.
• 5:49
They flee. She who waits at home divides
• 5:51
the plunder. While you sleep among the
• 5:53
campfires. The wings of a dove sheathed
• 5:55
with silver, her feathers with shining gold.
• 5:59
When the Almighty scattered kings in her, it snowed on
• 6:02
Zalman. The mountains of Bastion are
• 6:04
majestic mountains. The mountains of Bastion are
• 6:07
rugged. Why do you look in envy?
• 6:10
You rugged mountains? At the mountain where God
• 6:12
chooses to reign, Yes, Yahweh will dwell there forever.
• 6:16
The Chariots of God are 10s of thousands and thousands of
• 6:19
thousands. The Lord is among them.
• 6:22
From Sinai into the sanctuary you have ascended on high you
• 6:26
have led away captives, you have received gifts among people,
• 6:30
yes, among the rebellious also, that Yah God might dwell there.
• 6:35
Blessed be the Lord who daily bears our burdens, even the God
• 6:38
who is our salvation. God is to us a God of
• 6:42
deliverance. To Yahweh the Lord belongs
• 6:45
escape from death, but God will strike through the head of his
• 6:49
enemies. The hairy scalp of such a one as
• 6:51
  still continues in his guiltiness.
• 6:54
The Lord said, I will bring you again from Bashan.
• 6:57
I will bring you again from the depths of the sea, that you may
• 7:00
crush them, dipping your foot in blood, that the tongues of your
• 7:04
dogs may have their portion from your enemies.
• 7:07
They have seen your processions, God, even the processions of my
• 7:10
God, my King. Into the sanctuary the singers
• 7:15
went before the minstrels, followed after among the ladies,
• 7:18
playing with tambourines. Bless God in the congregations,
• 7:22
even the Lord. In the assembly of Israel there
• 7:25
is little Benjamin their ruler, the Princess of Judah, their
• 7:29
counsel, the Princess of Zebulun and the Princess of Naftali.
• 7:33
Your God has commanded your strength.
• 7:36
Strengthen God that which you have done for us.
• 7:39
Because of your temple at Jerusalem, kings shall bring
• 7:41
presents to you. Rebuke the wild animal of the
• 7:45
reeds, the multitude of the bulls with the calves of the
• 7:48
peoples being humbled. May it bring bars of silver.
• 7:52
Scatter the nations that delight in war.
• 7:55
Princess shall come out of Egypt.
• 7:57
Ethiopia shall hurry to stretch out her hands to God.
• 8:00
Sing to God you kingdoms of the earth.
• 8:03
Sing praises to the Lord, to him who rides on the heaven of
• 8:07
heavens which are of old. Behold, he utters his voice, a
• 8:10
mighty voice. Ascribe strength to God.
• 8:13
His Excellency is over Israel. His strength is in the skies.
• 8:18
You are awesome God in your sanctuaries.
• 8:20
The God of Israel gives strength and power to his people.
• 8:24
Praise be to God. First Samuel chapter 13 World
• 8:28
English Bible Saul was 30 years old when he became king, and he
• 8:33
reigned over Israel 42 years. Saul chose for himself 3000 men
• 8:38
of Israel, of which 2000 were with Saul in Mitch Mash and in
• 8:42
the Mount of Bethel, and 1000 were with Jonathan in Jiber of
• 8:46
Benjamin. He sent the rest of the people
• 8:49
to their own tents. Jonathan struck the Garrison of
• 8:52
the Philistines that was in Jabba, and the Philistines heard
• 8:55
of it. Saul blew the trumpet throughout
• 8:58
all the land, saying, Let the Hebrews hear.
• 9:01
All Israel heard that Saul had struck the Garrison of the
• 9:04
Philistines, and also that Israel was considered an
• 9:08
abomination to the Philistines. The people were gathered
• 9:12
together after Saul to Gilgol. The Philistines assembled
• 9:16
themselves together to fight with Israel. 30,000 Chariots and
• 9:20
6000 horsemen and people as the sand which is on the seashore in
• 9:24
multitude. They came up and encamped in
• 9:27
Mishmash eastward of Bait Aven. When the men of Israel saw that
• 9:32
they were in trouble, for the people were distressed.
• 9:34
Then the people hid themselves in caves, in thickets, in rocks,
• 9:38
in tombs and in pits. Now some of the Hebrews had gone
• 9:43
over the Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead.
• 9:46
But As for Saul, he was yet in Gilgal, and all the people
• 9:49
followed him trembling. He stayed seven days according
• 9:53
to the time set by Samuel. But Samuel didn't come to
• 9:57
Gilgal, and the people were scattering from him.
• 10:00
Saul said, Bring the burnt offering to me here and the
• 10:03
peace offerings. He offered the burnt offering.
• 10:07
It came to pass that as soon as he had finished offering the
• 10:09
burnt offering, behold, Samuel came and Saul went out to meet
• 10:13
him, that he might greet him. Samuel said, What have you done?
• 10:18
Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from
• 10:22
me, and that you didn't come within the days appointed, and
• 10:25
that the Philistines assembled themselves together at Mitch
• 10:28
Mash. Therefore I said, now the
• 10:31
Philistines will come down on me to Gilgal, and I haven't
• 10:35
entreated the favor of Yahweh. I forced myself therefore, and
• 10:38
offered the burnt offering. Samuel said to Saul, You have
• 10:42
done foolishly. You have not kept the
• 10:44
commandment of Yahweh your God, which he commanded you.
• 10:48
For now Yahweh would have established your Kingdom on
• 10:50
Israel forever, but now your Kingdom will not continue.
• 10:55
Yahweh has sought for himself a man after his own heart, and
• 10:58
Yahweh has appointed him to be Prince over his people.
• 11:01
Because you have not kept that which Yahweh commanded you.
• 11:04
Samuel arose and went from Gilgal to Jaiba of Benjamin.
• 11:10
Saul counted the people who were present with him about 600 men.
• 11:15
Saul and Jonathan his son, and the people who were present with
• 11:18
them stayed in jabber of Benjamin.
• 11:21
But the Philistines encamped in mishmash.
• 11:24
The Raiders came out of the camp of the Philistines in three
• 11:27
companies. One company turned to the way
• 11:30
that leads to Offra to the land of Shul.
• 11:33
Another company turned the way to Bait Horon, and another
• 11:37
company turned the way of the border that looks down on the
• 11:40
valley of Zebaim toward the wilderness.
• 11:43
Now there was no blacksmith found throughout all the land of
• 11:46
Israel, for the Philistines said, lest the Hebrews make
• 11:49
themselves swords or Spears. But all the Israelites went down
• 11:53
to the Philistines, each man to sharpen his own plowshare,
• 11:57
matic, axe, and sickle. The price was one pay him each
• 12:02
to sharpen Maddox plowshares, pitchforks, axes, and goads.
• 12:07
So it came to pass in the day of battle that neither sword nor
• 12:10
spear was found in the hand of any of the people who were with
• 12:13
Saul and Jonathan. But Saul and Jonathan his son
• 12:17
had them. The Garrison of the Philistines
• 12:20
went out to the pass of Mitch Mash.
