- 0:05Speaker 1: The Galaxy's most unpredictable Star Trek podcast, Live from studios
- 0:24Speaker 1: in Idaho and in Michigan. This is trek Cast, the
- 0:28Speaker 1: Galaxy's most Unpredictable Star Trek podcast. Today on the show,
- 0:32Speaker 1: we're gonna be brainstorming for the Awards show. Plus we've
- 0:37Speaker 1: got Star Trek News, your listener feedback. Uh. My name
- 0:41Speaker 1: is Scott and now introducing, for the first time ever
- 0:45Speaker 1: on trek Cast, the new co host Corgus of Borg.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Oh nice, I like that. I like that. I'm showing you'll.
- 0:57Speaker 1: You'll have to look up what corgus means. Oh no,
- 1:01Speaker 1: so lo cutest is Latin for I don't know, like
- 1:06Speaker 1: one who speaks or something like that. So I posted
- 1:11Speaker 1: a picture in the Facebook group that I meticulously, uh
- 1:15Speaker 1: aied of you. Yeah. Yeah, something ten years ago would
- 1:21Speaker 1: have taken like hours of work in an engineering degree
- 1:25Speaker 1: and an art degree and stuff like that.
- 1:27Speaker 2: God, I just yeah, let me just uh we pulled
- 1:33Speaker 2: up for the class.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Yes, please do.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's interesting.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Yeah, so that came directly from one of your pictures. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:47Speaker 1: it's it's your picture. It's your picture in the bed,
- 1:50Speaker 1: like okay, and I I just messed with it. I
- 1:55Speaker 1: I yeah, borgified. It removed your glasses, made your skin
- 1:59Speaker 1: toad gray. You're you're a You're not a regular drone.
- 2:04Speaker 1: You're a You're a tactical drone. So you got the armored.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Okay, I wouldn't think that, but okay, it kind of
- 2:12Speaker 2: looks almost like uh like clamation almost.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, it was weird when it did to you,
- 2:18Speaker 1: like your skin. You know. I kept messing with it.
- 2:20Speaker 1: I kept asking it to like, uh, put put tubes
- 2:23Speaker 1: coming out of his face, and it kept like taking
- 2:26Speaker 1: these little colorful tubes, like inch long tubes and just
- 2:29Speaker 1: sticking them all over your face. I'm like, no, no, no,
- 2:31Speaker 1: that's not what I want.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, the computer's so stupid.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, it was. It was fun. It was fun. So,
- 2:40Speaker 1: like I said, Locutus is uh is like one who speaks,
- 2:45Speaker 1: and then Cordis is of the heart.
- 2:50Speaker 2: I'm sure you prime all up, perdidos, good morning, Hello losers?
- 2:57Speaker 1: Love it?
- 2:57Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, so there we go. I'm a borg. Yes,
- 3:04Speaker 2: And for those of you wondering why am I a boorg?
- 3:06Speaker 2: Now I should probably explain this. So I recently had
- 3:12Speaker 2: a minor surgery last week that's why we didn't have
- 3:17Speaker 2: a show on Sunday. And I was recovering from that,
- 3:20Speaker 2: and they implanted a small little device inside of me
- 3:25Speaker 2: to monitor my heart. I was born with a heart condition,
- 3:30Speaker 2: and so this is just the natural evolution of that
- 3:33Speaker 2: that I need to just be monitored. It doesn't do
- 3:36Speaker 2: anything for me, doesn't like shock me, like like you know,
- 3:39Speaker 2: I thought was gonna happen originally. No, it's nothing like that.
- 3:43Speaker 2: It's just there to monitor my heart. That's it right there.
- 3:48Speaker 2: I brought up a picture from my personal Facebook. It's
- 3:52Speaker 2: like just under two inches long, made of steel. It
- 3:56Speaker 2: transmits Bluetooth to my cell phone, monitoring my heart rhythm,
- 4:00Speaker 2: and then it from my cell phone, it sends it
- 4:02Speaker 2: to my doctor pretty much constantly.
- 4:06Speaker 1: So yeah, that's how it starts. It starts with that
- 4:10Speaker 1: little two inch device and pretty soon after, before you
- 4:13Speaker 1: know it, you're gonna be demanding perfection.
- 4:16Speaker 2: So there you go. Yeah, so this thing will live
- 4:19Speaker 2: inside of me for the next three and a half
- 4:22Speaker 2: to four years, that's how long the battery life is,
- 4:25Speaker 2: and then after that it just it just it's their dormant.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Okay, they can.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Take it out if I want to, But that's an
- 4:32Speaker 2: elective procedure and that's thousands of dollars, so probably not.
- 4:37Speaker 2: But it's it's just there. It's gonna be a nightmare
- 4:40Speaker 2: to go through the airport. It is what I was told.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, you're gonna have to have a little card.
- 4:45Speaker 2: I have it now.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, okay, but.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's it's kind of fun. My nephews think
- 4:52Speaker 2: it's hilarious that now that I have an app for me.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Yeah, that's great. Yeah, well we're we're all we're all
- 5:00Speaker 1: glad you're doing okay, and we're all pulling for it.
- 5:03Speaker 2: And you know, so as is ha ha.
- 5:07Speaker 1: No.
- 5:07Speaker 2: I was saying pretty those like strangers like because you're
- 5:09Speaker 2: being lost or absent? Right nice cover buddy.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Nice okay, okay.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Yeah. JAZZBZ also says good morning. Yeah. Yeah, so how
- 5:24Speaker 2: you been man?
- 5:26Speaker 1: Doing good? Doing good. Had a little Christmas party last
- 5:29Speaker 1: weekend with friends over, had a good time. Yesterday, my
- 5:33Speaker 1: wife and I went and saw at the local.
- 5:36Speaker 4: Uh.
- 5:36Speaker 1: We have a civic theater, the CALMSU Civic. It's one
- 5:39Speaker 1: of the oldest and largest civic theaters in the country.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Uh.
- 5:41Speaker 1: We saw Annie. Oh oh, what a great performance. What
- 5:46Speaker 1: a super and I hadn't I hadn't really seen any
- 5:49Speaker 1: iteration of Annie in thirty years man or or more.
- 5:54Speaker 1: And it was just fantastic.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Look at you going to conventions and parties and performances,
- 6:04Speaker 2: stronger culture.
- 6:06Speaker 1: I'm such an introvert.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Al I yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:10Speaker 1: So yeah, that was fun.
- 6:12Speaker 2: That's cool, man, I'm glad you did that. Well, let's
- 6:15Speaker 2: get to the news because I have quite a bit
- 6:17Speaker 2: of news stories. Oh boy, yeah, So here we go
- 6:21Speaker 2: Star Trek News. I'm sorry, what we're gonna say.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Is there any paramount news? There's not, okay, because it's.
- 6:30Speaker 2: All they're all kind of illegal in twine right now, right, So,
- 6:35Speaker 2: but our first news story comes to us from the
- 6:37Speaker 2: Hollywood Reporter. I thought this was interesting, So it's gonna
- 6:40Speaker 2: lead off our news segment because I had no idea
- 6:43Speaker 2: this was coming up. But apparently beat me Up a
- 6:46Speaker 2: Sulu A Star Trek documentary featuring George t Kay gets
- 6:51Speaker 2: a February release. So this is unearthsome student films from
- 6:58Speaker 2: Tokay from back in nineteen eighty five. They've been acquired
- 7:02Speaker 2: by Trebeca Films and will be released as part of
- 7:06Speaker 2: the documentary. It will be released digitally on February seventeenth.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I don't know if that's worldwide or just you know,
- 7:13Speaker 2: in the US, but February seventeenth, this is a release date.
- 7:17Speaker 2: And it's a documentary about George d Kay and his
- 7:19Speaker 2: time in Star Trek, in his life and is you know,
- 7:24Speaker 2: all these different things. We are so interested in figuring
- 7:27Speaker 2: out what it is about Star Trek that makes people
- 7:29Speaker 2: care about it so much and why these student filmmakers
- 7:31Speaker 2: spent thirty five years making a fan film. So kind
- 7:37Speaker 2: of interesting.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, man, unless you text me like the week
- 7:43Speaker 1: before and say, hey, this is what we're doing for
- 7:45Speaker 1: the show, I'm not gonna watch it. Yeah.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Yeah, there's so many Star Trek documentaries and things, and.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Even if you do say that, I might give you
- 7:55Speaker 1: a little bit of pushback. Yeah, there you go, not
- 7:57Speaker 1: a lot of pushback. I mean, you're the boss, but
- 7:59Speaker 1: you know, oh god, you're mister producer.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Yeah. But yeah, so that's you know, if people are interested,
- 8:09Speaker 2: there you go in February. You can win.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I think there are people that are big DeKay fans
- 8:13Speaker 1: and people that I mean, I don't think anybody hates
- 8:16Speaker 1: George Deka No, I don't think, well, you either love
- 8:19Speaker 1: him or you don't really care. Yeah. So yeah, I
- 8:23Speaker 1: saw him one set of convention. All he The thing
- 8:27Speaker 1: that disappointed me was the he was there for one
- 8:30Speaker 1: day and just decide autographs. He didn't do a panel.
- 8:35Speaker 1: And I'm like, okay, if I get it. You know,
- 8:38Speaker 1: you come out you want to make money. I understand,
- 8:40Speaker 1: I totally and I'm totally behind the stars coming out
- 8:44Speaker 1: and charging the money to make the for the autographs.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Otherwise there wouldn't be any reason for them to come out.
- 8:50Speaker 1: But if you're going to come out to a comic
- 8:51Speaker 1: con and and charge eighty dollars for an autograph, spend
- 8:56Speaker 1: forty five minutes doing a panel that day.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and that makes sense. At least give the
- 9:02Speaker 2: people a little something.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Right, And yeah, So I was. I was really, I
- 9:06Speaker 1: kept asking around. I went up to the booth. I'm like,
- 9:09Speaker 1: I went up to the main desk and I'm like,
- 9:10Speaker 1: when is George DeKay do in his panel? And they're like, yeah,
- 9:13Speaker 1: he's not. He's not doing a pan.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, speaking of giving the people a little something,
- 9:18Speaker 2: let's move on to our next story comes to us
- 9:20Speaker 2: from Parade dot Com. Yes and Uh, we're getting an
- 9:27Speaker 2: update a little bit on Strange New Worlds thanks to
- 9:32Speaker 2: actress Christina Chong. Sorry cannot talk today. She is just
- 9:38Speaker 2: posted on her Instagram that she is done filming Strange
- 9:42Speaker 2: New Worlds completely today. She says, I ended a five
- 9:46Speaker 2: year missions for long and it was an incredible one.
- 9:49Speaker 2: So she's done. She posted this on December thirteenth, so
- 9:53Speaker 2: yesterday on Saturday.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Yeah, she's Did they film season four and five back
- 10:00Speaker 1: to back?
- 10:01Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, there's so, okay, I should probably talk about
- 10:07Speaker 2: this a little bit. There are there are reports out there.
- 10:11Speaker 2: You've probably seen them if you're following any of this stuff,
- 10:14Speaker 2: that one of the reasons they are doing that is
- 10:20Speaker 2: that Alex Kurtzman is not being renewed for his Star
- 10:23Speaker 2: Trek deal, and so they've got to get everything done
- 10:28Speaker 2: by the end of January as far as filming. So
- 10:32Speaker 2: they've got to finish filming Starfleet Academy season two because
- 10:36Speaker 2: they already signed up to do that, so but they've
- 10:41Speaker 2: got to get it all done by the end of January.
- 10:44Speaker 2: So that's why Strange World's got rushed. Apparently the studio
- 10:49Speaker 2: really wanted Strange World Season five to just be a movie,
- 10:52Speaker 2: another TV movie like like Section thirty one and and
- 10:57Speaker 2: and Alex Kurtzman the company Secret Herd eight was able
- 10:59Speaker 2: to convinced them into a series of shows. And so
- 11:04Speaker 2: that's why it's a shorter season. Was like five or
- 11:06Speaker 2: six episodes. It's supposed to be.
- 11:08Speaker 1: So, Okay, that's fine. Whatever. I'm I'm I'm really resisting
- 11:14Speaker 1: the urge to go into a fifteen minute rant about
- 11:17Speaker 1: Alex Kurtzman. I'm not going to do.
- 11:20Speaker 2: We don't know if any of this is true. This
- 11:22Speaker 2: is just the rumors that are out there.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Okay, okay. I met Christina Chan. Yeah. She was a
- 11:29Speaker 1: lovely person. Oh yeah, I told I told her. I
- 11:34Speaker 1: think she does a great job on the show. I
- 11:35Speaker 1: told her as much. I didn't get her autograph or anything.
- 11:38Speaker 1: I was just walking by her booth and just said hi.
- 11:40Speaker 1: I said, think you're doing a great job, you know.
- 11:44Speaker 1: And I think I love the cast of Stranger Worlds,
- 11:47Speaker 1: all of them. I think they're great. They got a good,
- 11:52Speaker 1: good leader in Captain Pike. That the antson Mount I
- 11:54Speaker 1: think it's fantastic.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I think he's great.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I think that Paramount and Alex Kurtzman are slowly killing
- 12:03Speaker 1: Star Trek slowly killing Strange New Worlds. But you know,
- 12:09Speaker 1: we've all said it on the show before about you know,
- 12:12Speaker 1: Dan and I definitely have our opinions about Strange New
- 12:15Speaker 1: Worlds and the new track and stuff like that. But
- 12:18Speaker 1: Alex Kurtzman is going to be the death of Star Trek.
- 12:22Speaker 2: I mean, we'll get changed my mind. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 12:26Speaker 2: we will get there. All right. Our next story comes
- 12:29Speaker 2: to us from trekmovie dot com, and we're learning a
- 12:34Speaker 2: little bit more about us Starfleet Academy thanks to Robert
- 12:40Speaker 2: picardot Academy t shirt. There you go, There you go.
- 12:45Speaker 2: We He has now confirmed which version of the Doctor
- 12:49Speaker 2: he will be playing, So this has been a little
- 12:51Speaker 2: bit of you know, some uh wonder if you know
- 12:56Speaker 2: who he will be playing, because we have two versions
- 12:59Speaker 2: of Doctor, right, we have the standard version of the Doctor,
- 13:02Speaker 2: and then we have that one episode that was set
- 13:04Speaker 2: in the future where he's living witness where he's like
- 13:08Speaker 2: the backup version and even testifies about the exploits of
- 13:12Speaker 2: the of the Voyager. And honestly, he should be showing
- 13:17Speaker 2: up at Academy right around that time because he took
- 13:21Speaker 2: off from the Delta quadrant and so it should be
- 13:24Speaker 2: right around that time that he would show up, but.
- 13:28Speaker 1: He didn't a storyline about it.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe maybe not. I guess we'll see. But he
- 13:38Speaker 2: did confirm he is for sure playing the doctor from
- 13:41Speaker 2: Voyager the OG so that's that's where he will be.
- 13:46Speaker 2: That's who he is.
- 13:47Speaker 1: So I'm curious what plot device they're going to use
- 13:51Speaker 1: for his aging. And to be honest with you, you know,
- 13:55Speaker 1: because it doesn't make sense that he's older. But but
- 14:00Speaker 1: I will say that I will be okay with just
- 14:04Speaker 1: about any explanation. I will be okay with the fact
- 14:07Speaker 1: that he's older, just because I'm glad they got Robert Riccardo. Yeah.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Well, I mean they never really explained it with data,
- 14:17Speaker 2: not really. No, Yeah, I wonder I'll just go that route,
- 14:22Speaker 2: just not explain it at all, or they'll do something like, oh,
- 14:27Speaker 2: I updated my hollow projection too.
- 14:29Speaker 1: That's fine, that's fine. I mean, don't don't don't ignore it,
- 14:32Speaker 1: just say I decided that I wanted to age with
- 14:34Speaker 1: everybody so they didn't feel uncomfortable, or you know, I've
- 14:37Speaker 1: got this new program that ages me throughout the years,
- 14:40Speaker 1: so I look, you know, appropriately aged. I age a
- 14:44Speaker 1: year for every hundred years. It's we're in existence or whatever.
- 14:47Speaker 1: I mean, I'll accept it out That'll be my the
- 14:51Speaker 1: thing I accept What do you call that when you
- 14:55Speaker 1: accept something that's not really in a plot that's oh
- 14:59Speaker 1: yeah ability, Yeah, yeah, I'll accept that just because I'm
- 15:04Speaker 1: I'm glad that, you know. Robert Riccardo the same thing
- 15:07Speaker 1: with Data. We accepted whatever bs excuse on card season
- 15:10Speaker 1: three that they did about oh he decided that he
- 15:13Speaker 1: was going to be a sixty five year old man
- 15:15Speaker 1: because of the body of a and you know, the
- 15:17Speaker 1: new synth whatever, we were okay with it. We ignored it.
- 15:20Speaker 1: We didn't care because Brent Spiner was back as.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Data, right right, So there you go. He's going to
- 15:25Speaker 2: be the original Doctor original recipe. So yeah. Also coming
- 15:29Speaker 2: to us from trekmovie dot Com. I don't know if
- 15:34Speaker 2: you saw this. This is more for our international audiences,
- 15:39Speaker 2: but Star Trek is leaving Netflix worldwide and pretty soon.
- 15:45Speaker 2: So it's not just Star Trek Prodigy, but a lot
- 15:49Speaker 2: of them. So Star Trek Prodigy is leaving in the
- 15:52Speaker 2: US probably at the end of the year. It looks
- 15:55Speaker 2: like December thirty first, you will not be able to
- 15:57Speaker 2: see Star Trek Prodigy on Netflix in the US or
- 16:01Speaker 2: anywhere is from what I've read, and we don't know
- 16:06Speaker 2: where it's going to go because it's not going to
- 16:07Speaker 2: just go back to to Paramount. So that's neat.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Yeah. So because we're like, we just started my son
- 16:16Speaker 1: and I months and months ago started season two. Yeah,
- 16:20Speaker 1: so you gotta hurry out first, Okay, so we're gonna
- 16:26Speaker 1: have to binge watch it between now and the end of.
- 16:29Speaker 2: The year, yeah, or buy the DVDs.
- 16:34Speaker 1: I'm a big fan of physical media. I'm not sure
- 16:36Speaker 1: if I'm gonna buy Prodigy.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Yeah. So there's that, and then let's see for the
- 16:42Speaker 2: rest of the series. I have to go over to
- 16:45Speaker 2: what is on Netflix dot com. Let me pull this
- 16:49Speaker 2: up for you.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Everything else is on well again international, I don't know what.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Yeah, internationally, it is all on Netflix, but most of
- 16:58Speaker 2: it is leading soon as you can see on the
- 17:00Speaker 2: graphic right there. Only that will be remaining is into
- 17:04Speaker 2: Darkness started beyond.
- 17:06Speaker 1: As far as series goes, it looks like they had
- 17:09Speaker 1: and the things that are leaving are all the og
- 17:12Speaker 1: Trek from original series all the way up to Enterprise.
- 17:14Speaker 1: That's right, It's like that's what they're showing now, and
- 17:16Speaker 1: that's what's leaving.
- 17:17Speaker 2: That is what's leaving. It looks like the license ends
- 17:21Speaker 2: on last day to watch is January eighth globally.
- 17:26Speaker 1: So okay, yeah, this must be part of a was
- 17:32Speaker 1: this always going to be? I wonder is this part
- 17:34Speaker 1: of Yeah, this is just.
- 17:35Speaker 2: A long term contract that's come to an end, and
- 17:38Speaker 2: and Paramount is not letting it being renewed at this point. Well,
- 17:43Speaker 2: because they you know that they're selling themselves, so you know,
- 17:47Speaker 2: or they're trying to not selling themselves they already did.
- 17:50Speaker 2: They're trying to, you know, build up Paramount Plus and
- 17:53Speaker 2: and build up their their streamings, so they want all
- 17:56Speaker 2: that stuff in house.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Now, Okay, yeah, all right, whatever.
- 18:02Speaker 2: He's not so disappointed. I don't.
- 18:04Speaker 1: I mean, I don't watch Star Trek through Netflix anyways.
- 18:06Speaker 1: I just I'm I just don't understand what. You know,
- 18:10Speaker 1: find it, buy it, keep it in one spot. I
- 18:13Speaker 1: don't know what Paramount's doing. You didn't mention in the news,
- 18:16Speaker 1: but a lot of people know that Warner Brothers made
- 18:20Speaker 1: a bid for or somebody made a bid for. Yeah,
- 18:25Speaker 1: Netflix made a bid for Warner Brothers.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Is that what right?
- 18:27Speaker 1: Warner Bros? Netflix made a bid for Warner Brothers and
- 18:30Speaker 1: then they're like, oh, yeah, we're gonna give you I
- 18:33Speaker 1: don't know, ninety billion dollars for that, and then out
- 18:36Speaker 1: of nowhere, Paramount goes, uh, yeah, we want to buy
- 18:39Speaker 1: Warner Brothers for one hundred and something billion dollars in
- 18:43Speaker 1: what the news was calling a hostile kind of takeover.
- 18:48Speaker 1: The hell is Paramount doing there?
- 18:51Speaker 2: Crazy?
- 18:52Speaker 1: Man? I'm confused, like, are you broke? Are you are
- 18:55Speaker 1: you going away? Or are you buying one hundred billion
- 18:58Speaker 1: dollar media companies?
- 19:00Speaker 2: So the company is broke, but the people that own
- 19:04Speaker 2: the company are filthy rich.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Like unadded supply of money, unlimited supply of money, just
- 19:12Speaker 1: basically money beyond the dreams of avarice. Okay, oh right,
- 19:16Speaker 1: So what's your end goal? Rich people that are just
- 19:19Speaker 1: you know, buying and selling and pretending.
- 19:23Speaker 2: It's like the Highlander. There can only be one to
- 19:28Speaker 2: rule us all that's the goal.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't get it, Yeah, I don't get it.
- 19:37Speaker 2: All right, Well, let's let's get to our last news story.
- 19:41Speaker 2: We'll we'll end up with something a little bit hopefully
- 19:44Speaker 2: more hopeful I don't know. But for those of you
- 19:47Speaker 2: who have missed your Chance, the Star Trek Enterprise, the D,
- 19:51Speaker 2: the Lego D is now back on sale on the
- 19:54Speaker 2: Lego website. It is still four hundred ninety nine. But
- 20:01Speaker 2: here's the problem. It will not be under the Christmas tree.
- 20:05Speaker 2: It is back ordered two months.
- 20:07Speaker 1: So bill ship in sixty days.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Yeah, so if you do it today, the fourteenth should
- 20:14Speaker 2: be a perfect Valentine's Day gift.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Oh there you go.
- 20:17Speaker 2: If you want to give somebody the D for Valentine's Day,
- 20:20Speaker 2: now you can do it.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Are you hearing that, sweetheart?
- 20:23Speaker 2: She can give you the D for Valentine's Day?
- 20:25Speaker 1: Can give me the D for Valentine's Day?
- 20:28Speaker 2: Wow?
- 20:30Speaker 1: Yes, that big plastic D.
- 20:33Speaker 2: That's Oh man, Scott, your mom watches the show.
- 20:39Speaker 1: You just need to hear these things. Yeah, that Lego Enterprise,
- 20:44Speaker 1: that's that'd be not I mean, you know, we've talked
- 20:46Speaker 1: about it a lot.
- 20:47Speaker 2: But yeah, it's not on my top list of things
- 20:51Speaker 2: I want to buy.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Now.
- 20:53Speaker 2: The funny thing is, see, you don't get the uh,
- 20:57Speaker 2: the shuttlecraft anymore as your gift for spending four hundred
- 21:00Speaker 2: dollars with Legos. You do get this little like gingerbread
- 21:04Speaker 2: train ornament that they're offering.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Oh, that that that turns the tide. That that's sort
- 21:12Speaker 1: of uh yeah, tips of scales.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Which is kind of neat because you know, you spend
- 21:18Speaker 2: four hundred dollars, you get this thing in February, and
- 21:20Speaker 2: then that's when you.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Get your Gingerbread train.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Yeah no, not really that the train comes earlier. So
- 21:27Speaker 2: it sounds like, but.
- 21:30Speaker 1: What executive made that decision?
- 21:33Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Man Like, hey, guys, I got a good idea. They're
- 21:36Speaker 1: all at a board meeting. Hey you know that four
- 21:38Speaker 1: hundred dollars enterprise? Yeah yeah, yeah, okay, so what if
- 21:41Speaker 1: we bundle it with a tiny Gingerbread Lego train? Yeah?
- 21:48Speaker 1: And everybody see because that kind of decision had to
- 21:50Speaker 1: go through many processes, many meetings, and it it passed
- 21:55Speaker 1: every one of them. Yeah, okay, yeah, they they need
- 22:00Speaker 1: to fire whoever came up with that idea. I'm just
- 22:03Speaker 1: say it. I just say it.
- 22:05Speaker 2: So, are are we going to get the Are we
- 22:07Speaker 2: going to get.
- 22:07Speaker 1: The d No?
- 22:10Speaker 2: No, I didn't I didn't think so either, All right? Yeah?
- 22:14Speaker 2: Oh and then the other things. Since we're talking about toys,
- 22:17Speaker 2: we should probably bring this up one more time. Is
- 22:21Speaker 2: our big toy drive? Yes? Yeah, something pull that up.
- 22:26Speaker 2: There's the graphic. So we are doing a toy drive
- 22:30Speaker 2: this year instead of Christmas cards, and so what we
- 22:34Speaker 2: are encouraging you to do is give to your local charities.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Here in the US, we have something called Toys for
- 22:40Speaker 2: Tots where they collect toys for less fortunate families. And
- 22:45Speaker 2: so we're asking that you donate and that you use
- 22:49Speaker 2: when you donate, use the hashtag treck cast toy drive
- 22:53Speaker 2: in your pictures showing off what you're donating, and that
- 22:56Speaker 2: that would be part of our toy drive.
- 22:57Speaker 1: So Nope, Yeah, Toys for Tots a fantastic organization. As
- 23:02Speaker 1: an Army veteran, I can tell you it's it's one
- 23:04Speaker 1: of the things that the Marine Corps does well. Toys
- 23:08Speaker 1: for Yeah, it's one thing. Uh No, the Marine Corps.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Uh they they they're the ones that run sponsor Toys
- 23:16Speaker 1: for Toss. They do a fantastic, fantastic job. If you
- 23:20Speaker 1: if you, if you're lazy like me and you don't
- 23:22Speaker 1: want to, uh you know, go to a store and
- 23:24Speaker 1: pick up a toy and drop it off at a place. Uh. I,
- 23:29Speaker 1: my mom and and our household we just went to
- 23:33Speaker 1: Uh Toys for Tots dot com dot org and we
- 23:36Speaker 1: just donated, so that's that's an option. So that's what
- 23:40Speaker 1: we did. And we we sent a link and we
- 23:42Speaker 1: posted the hashtag trek Cast Toy Drive in the in
- 23:47Speaker 1: the Facebook group.
- 23:47Speaker 2: So that's a nice nice Yeah, I've got some stuff
- 23:52Speaker 2: to gather together, so I got to go drop it off.
- 23:54Speaker 2: But yeah, I gotta do that soon. But yeah, so
- 23:58Speaker 2: that's that's the trick Cast Toy Drive. All right, All
- 24:02Speaker 2: that is done with the news. It's time to get
- 24:04Speaker 2: to our main topic.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Let's do it fun well now comment.
- 24:14Speaker 2: All right, so our main topic is we are going
- 24:19Speaker 2: to brainstorm. There you go. The glasses come on, glasses
- 24:21Speaker 2: are coming on. We are brainstorming categories for our upcoming
- 24:28Speaker 2: award show because it's the end of the year, so
- 24:30Speaker 2: we like to do our traditional you know, award show.
- 24:34Speaker 2: So this would be the because we wouldn't do it
- 24:36Speaker 2: until actually twenty twenty six, twenty twenty six awards, so yeah,
- 24:40Speaker 2: so there you go. So we need to come up
- 24:42Speaker 2: with categories. We like to try to keep them a
- 24:46Speaker 2: little bit topical for the year, kind of you know,
- 24:49Speaker 2: see what's going on there. We don't have a lot
- 24:53Speaker 2: to work with because only three different pieces of Star
- 24:57Speaker 2: Trek content came out this year, right. We had Strange
- 25:02Speaker 2: New World Season three, we had Section thirty one, the movie,
- 25:07Speaker 2: and we had Star Trek Scouts, the greatest show ever
- 25:09Speaker 2: to exist?
- 25:10Speaker 1: Correct? So correct?
- 25:13Speaker 2: Okay, so we gotta do what we can. So for
- 25:17Speaker 2: those of you in the chat, you know, if you
- 25:20Speaker 2: have a category you'd like to come up with, or
- 25:22Speaker 2: nominees for categories, please share that. So we're gonna ask
- 25:26Speaker 2: for your help.
- 25:27Speaker 1: I think we had some ideas in the Facebook group.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Two, Yes, we did, and I got to pull those
- 25:32Speaker 2: up as well. I will get those going, but I
- 25:36Speaker 2: think the first one is best piece of Star Trek
- 25:39Speaker 2: in twenty twenty five, which would be the three shows, right, yeah, yeah,
- 25:43Speaker 2: so that's pretty easy there. Yeah, so Strange New Worlds,
- 25:52Speaker 2: Section thirty one and Star Trek Scouts, which is pretty cool.
- 26:02Speaker 2: I'm trying to find the the posting right now. Oh yeah. Uh.
- 26:11Speaker 2: Devall mainly posted about awards for us like Best Trek
- 26:16Speaker 2: Cast host Rants, Best and Worst of Trek this year,
- 26:19Speaker 2: the Best Star Trek traditions like predictions that came true,
- 26:23Speaker 2: Trek Cast's Strongest Beard of the Year. I mean, we
- 26:25Speaker 2: could do that again.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Hey, it's always a good it's always a good category.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, let's do that.
- 26:33Speaker 1: That's fun, all right, Best Trek cast Beard, Who and
- 26:42Speaker 1: who are the nominees?
- 26:43Speaker 2: It would just be you and Dan, You guys, fool beards.
- 26:45Speaker 1: I don't Scott too. Dan.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Now, last year we did have a little bit of
- 26:55Speaker 2: there were some overnight votes that.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Came in, Yes, yeah, there were. There was some kind
- 27:00Speaker 1: of controversy last year.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Weren't there you know, I felt like the voting was
- 27:05Speaker 2: was was fine.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I did too. I did too. Yeah, we
- 27:10Speaker 1: had there was a little bit of a shake up.
- 27:12Speaker 1: There was a a Michigan football type controversy going on
- 27:18Speaker 1: where where somebody was accused of adding some votes, voting,
- 27:22Speaker 1: you know, vote voting early and often. You know, I'm
- 27:26Speaker 1: not gonna name any names, so don't don't worry. Does
- 27:31Speaker 1: You're You're safe. Uh So you know, I'm not gonna
- 27:34Speaker 1: I'm not gonna incriminate anybody.
- 27:36Speaker 2: So you know, we could do this is so messed up.
- 27:40Speaker 2: We could do best Streaming Service with Star Trek and
- 27:43Speaker 2: just do Netflix and best.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Track Streaming Service, dreaming service.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Just watch everybody just dog vile on Paramount. Yeah, that's
- 28:01Speaker 2: kind of funny.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Okay u A tree who.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Says most rewatchable Star Trek movie.
- 28:12Speaker 1: That we did do the the movie rewatch this year.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean we could do all the movies literally,
- 28:19Speaker 2: list them all, even section thirty one.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Yep, yep, we'll do.
- 28:23Speaker 2: I wonder what movie would be most most rewatched. That'd
- 28:27Speaker 2: be interesting to list them all and see what people.
- 28:30Speaker 1: So, I'm I don't need to write them all. I
- 28:32Speaker 1: mean I'll write them all down for you when I
- 28:35Speaker 1: when I type it out and send it to you. No,
- 28:37Speaker 1: well I can get ten okay, so we've got ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen,
- 28:40Speaker 1: fourteen movies to choose from.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Then, yeah, that could be a fun topic of fun
- 28:46Speaker 2: category okay, okay, watchable movie, then I guess you gotta
- 28:49Speaker 2: do most rewatchable series.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Yeah, watching, I'm rewatching the Card and Voyager right now
- 28:58Speaker 1: at the same.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I can list them all out.
- 29:01Speaker 1: That's fine.
- 29:01Speaker 2: So you don't just the category title and then I'll
- 29:05Speaker 2: go from there. Okay, Okay, we typically like to do
- 29:09Speaker 2: about what like eight or nine categories.
- 29:12Speaker 1: Yeah, something like that.
- 29:14Speaker 2: Yeah, so how many do we got like four right now?
- 29:19Speaker 1: One, two, three, four, five if you include.
- 29:21Speaker 2: The Okay, what are they? Let's repress everybody.
- 29:24Speaker 1: All right, So we've got Best Trek in twenty twenty
- 29:27Speaker 1: five between Stranging World Section thirty one and Star Trek Scouts,
- 29:32Speaker 1: Best Trek Cast Beard uh and myself and Dan, Best
- 29:37Speaker 1: Trek Streaming Service between Paramout Plus and Netflix, Most Rewatchable
- 29:41Speaker 1: Movies and most Rewatchable Series.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Okay, okay, those are good. Those are good. See what
- 29:49Speaker 2: else can we do?
- 29:50Speaker 1: Somebody said best, uh, best rant, but I can't think
- 29:55Speaker 1: of specific rants that we had, Like, yeah, I can't either,
- 29:59Speaker 1: you know, I I know I ranted about I know
- 30:02Speaker 1: I've ranted about what's his nuts Alex Kurtzman many many times.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Dan has ranted about not looking forward to Academy. Yeah.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Yeah, you know.
- 30:21Speaker 1: You've stayed pretty neutral, pretty positive.
- 30:24Speaker 2: I want to like it. Yeah, I don't think I will,
- 30:27Speaker 2: but I want to, right, you know, we could do.
- 30:33Speaker 2: I mean, there's been some trailers, but I don't know
- 30:34Speaker 2: if we want to like compare the trailers or maybe
- 30:38Speaker 2: what are you most excited for? You know, the Strangeman
- 30:41Speaker 2: World season four or start to Fleet Academy?
- 30:45Speaker 1: Okay, most so like most anticipated?
- 30:50Speaker 2: Yeah strange? Oh and we do you know that a
- 31:00Speaker 2: star Trek season Scouts season two is supposed to happen
- 31:05Speaker 2: next year.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Cows season two. I mean that's gonna run away with it, baby,
- 31:15Speaker 1: I'm sure it will. Yeah, I'm sure wrote the other
- 31:18Speaker 1: ones down, so yeah, I'm gonna do. Okay. So Dan
- 31:24Speaker 1: has ranted a lot about about Academy, and I've ranted
- 31:29Speaker 1: a lot about Alex Kurtzman. So I'm gonna do if
- 31:32Speaker 1: anybody remembers me doing a rant or Dan doing. Dan
- 31:36Speaker 1: does some pretty good rants about about Academy and and
- 31:40Speaker 1: stuff like that. So let's do a best Star Trek
- 31:43Speaker 1: rant between the two of us. Okay, if that's okay
- 31:48Speaker 1: with you?
- 31:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, any categories.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Baby, best rant? Hmm, like, okay, Dan, Academy. So so
- 32:08Speaker 1: far we got one, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
- 32:12Speaker 2: Oh we're almost there.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Oh it's coming along together pretty quick. See most best
- 32:24Speaker 2: technology introduced top make out scene in Star Trek movie.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Here a best technology introduced, though, like what's going to
- 32:35Speaker 2: introduced this year? Because we had the programmable matter but
- 32:40Speaker 2: that was like in Discovery and that was the year
- 32:43Speaker 2: before earlier than that. I don't know if I can't
- 32:49Speaker 2: think of any well, I guess we had the holiday
- 32:52Speaker 2: episode in strangial Worlds, and so that was the introduction
- 32:56Speaker 2: of the holiday, right.
- 32:59Speaker 1: You know, I am a little intrigued about the best
- 33:05Speaker 1: makeout scene. I take it they didn't have a lot
- 33:08Speaker 1: of sex scenes and scouts. I didn't see it, so
- 33:11Speaker 1: I mean, it's not it's for the children, okay, okay.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Yeah, they're too busy fighting out giant balls of boogers
- 33:19Speaker 2: and right, which.
- 33:21Speaker 1: Is an actual episode? Oh god, really, yes, for the children.
- 33:29Speaker 1: It's for the children. Okay, it's.
- 33:34Speaker 2: For the children. Have you not? Have you not heard
- 33:37Speaker 2: that the fame is a word show clip and someone
- 33:41Speaker 2: on the stage is Wu Tang clans for the children?
- 33:44Speaker 1: Oh no, okay. I'm also trying to think what were
- 33:50Speaker 1: the what were the romance triangles? Because uh uh sing
- 33:58Speaker 1: stop saying.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Oh you know what other Star Trek we got add
- 34:02Speaker 2: to our list?
- 34:03Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah, four, which was good.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Yeah, it was actually really really good.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Yeah. If you haven't listened to Star Trek con, I
- 34:22Speaker 1: suggest you do it. Yes, it's a little bite sized
- 34:26Speaker 1: chunks are like less than a half hour long, and
- 34:30Speaker 1: it's a really really good storyline, so very well produced.
- 34:35Speaker 2: You know, we could do like best performance of a
- 34:40Speaker 2: classic Shrek Star Trek character by a new actor. Oh
- 34:46Speaker 2: so you could do like Pike and and Spock and Con.
- 34:54Speaker 1: You know of classic.
- 35:02Speaker 2: Star Trek character by a new actor.
- 35:05Speaker 1: By new actor. We've got let's see Pike.
- 35:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I just put the names down. I'll get the
- 35:15Speaker 2: actor names later. So Pike, Spock, you've got Scottie. I'm
- 35:25Speaker 2: trying to think what other characters Chat help me out here,
- 35:28Speaker 2: Khan Con Yeah, because Zulu and Tuvac, they they played themselves.
- 35:35Speaker 2: Those are original recipes, right, yep, yep, so they don't count,
- 35:42Speaker 2: and then on start exchange new worlds don't.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Oh Chapel Chat Yeah, I was just gonna say chapel.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Oh oh a wild Bill yeah in Benga jazz biz.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Yeah, yep.
- 35:58Speaker 2: This will be an interesting category to see who wins.
- 36:01Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I don't think kind of, I kind of
- 36:05Speaker 1: I kind of already know who I'm going to vote for.
- 36:07Speaker 2: So yeah, me too, me too? Yeah, Okay, So that
- 36:14Speaker 2: that's an interesting category. That's kind of fun.
- 36:18Speaker 1: If there's any others that we can think of, I'll
- 36:19Speaker 1: add them to the list.
- 36:20Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, huh, we could do what what project we're
- 36:29Speaker 6: most excited about?
- 36:32Speaker 2: Potent or most What potential project we're most excited about.
- 36:36Speaker 2: We could do the Tawny new Some Space comedy, the
- 36:42Speaker 2: Archer political drama, the upcoming Star Trek movie reboots.
- 36:52Speaker 1: All right, so let's okay, what was the first one
- 36:55Speaker 1: you mentioned? The Oh yeah, the Tawny Knew Some Space comedy.
- 36:59Speaker 2: Yeah, Star Trek comedy.
- 37:07Speaker 1: And what else?
- 37:09Speaker 5: Uh?
- 37:10Speaker 2: There was the the Archer Show. I mean, these are
- 37:18Speaker 2: the ones we know about, right right right, and then
- 37:23Speaker 2: the the reboot movie that's gonna be done.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, potential project we're most excited about Newsome comedy,
- 37:38Speaker 1: Archer Show, reboot movie.
- 37:39Speaker 2: Okay, try any other any other categories you guys can
- 37:49Speaker 2: think of? Mm hmmm those you want to go through
- 37:55Speaker 2: the listen one more time?
- 37:56Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah. So for the the categories are Best Trek
- 38:03Speaker 1: in twenty twenty five. So we got Strangely World Section
- 38:05Speaker 1: thirty one, Star Trek, Scouts and Star Trek con Best
- 38:09Speaker 1: Trek cast Beard either Scott or Dan. Best Trek streaming
- 38:14Speaker 1: service either Paramount Plus or Netflix. Most rewatchable movies, most

- 38:25Speaker 1: and Scouts Season two, The best start, the best Trek
- 38:30Speaker 1: cast rant either myself ranting about Alex Kurtzman or Dan
- 38:34Speaker 1: ranting about Academy. And we've got best performance of a
- 38:39Speaker 1: classic character by a new actor. Where we have the
- 38:42Speaker 1: nominees are Pikes, Box, Scotty Khan, Chapel Hura and Aminga
- 38:47Speaker 1: and potential project. We're most excited about the Tawny Newsom
- 38:52Speaker 1: star Trek Comedy, the Admiral Archer Show, or the reboot movie.
- 38:58Speaker 1: What was the reboot movie they talk about.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Was the one they just announced. It's they're gonna completely
- 39:03Speaker 2: it's not gonna connect anything at all. It's by the
- 39:07Speaker 2: team that made uh, spider Man No Way or Spider
- 39:10Speaker 2: Man Homecoming.
- 39:13Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, so I mean if it's new track and
- 39:17Speaker 1: not I'll watch.
- 39:19Speaker 2: Completely new, like I'll watch it. Yeah, we do. We
- 39:23Speaker 2: don't know if they're gonna do like Spock and Kirk
- 39:25Speaker 2: and all them again. But they said it's gonna be
- 39:27Speaker 2: completely new, not connected anything. They have not confirmed if
- 39:31Speaker 2: it's you know, a reboot of that or what. But
- 39:34Speaker 2: supposed to be the the beginning, the beginnings of the Federation. Mmm.
- 39:40Speaker 1: So and and are they also unbondaged, unshackled, untethered from Cannon.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Yeah, because they're completely rebooting. They're Yeah, it doesn't connect anything.
- 39:51Speaker 2: It's whatever they want.
- 39:51Speaker 1: It to be. Yay, what all the fans are asking for? Yeah, yeah,
- 39:57Speaker 1: I would do like the Star Trek movies or books
- 40:00Speaker 1: or games, like best books that came out this year
- 40:03Speaker 1: or best I guess I could just look them up.
- 40:06Speaker 1: Nobody reads them. No, I mean I I I've been
- 40:11Speaker 1: reading or listening to a lot of audiobooks that have
- 40:14Speaker 1: come out on YouTube, like they're free on some YouTube channels.
- 40:20Speaker 1: I don't I don't know the legality of it, but
- 40:22Speaker 1: they're up. I've listened to them, so some of them
- 40:27Speaker 1: have actually, Like I just listened to Q squared and
- 40:31Speaker 1: that was uh that was narrated by John Delancy and
- 40:36Speaker 1: it's it's one of my favorite Peter David Star Trek novels.
- 40:42Speaker 1: It's about him and Tree Lane and and yeah.
- 40:45Speaker 2: No, it looks like there was only two books released

- 45:19Speaker 2: pretty exciting. A well says no, worst of categories, Well,
- 45:25Speaker 2: what would you suggest? And then they could do we
- 45:30Speaker 2: could do all the like the best of nominees and
- 45:32Speaker 2: just turn that and say worst start of the year.
- 45:36Speaker 1: And yeah, if you see a nomination in here, like Daniel,
- 45:41Speaker 1: you think would be great reverse engineer, Just go ahead
- 45:45Speaker 1: and add that.
- 45:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean we could do worst worst performance of
- 45:48Speaker 2: a Star Trek character of a classic character.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Right, but like that would be interesting to see too, right,
- 45:54Speaker 1: but like best Star Trek streaming service, I think that's
- 45:56Speaker 1: gonna be a you know, one or the other kind
- 45:59Speaker 1: of things.

- 48:08Speaker 2: I'm good.
- 48:09Speaker 1: I'm good.
- 48:10Speaker 2: So what do you think of the categories?
- 48:13Speaker 7: They're pretty good.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:15Speaker 3: It's like I bet over the next week or two
- 48:18Speaker 3: we'll have other ones come up.
- 48:20Speaker 2: Maybe maybe yeah, could be going to see what wins?
- 48:24Speaker 2: And you know, is there a particular category you're excited about?
- 48:28Speaker 2: See how it turns out?
- 48:29Speaker 1: Best?
- 48:29Speaker 3: Goodbye to doctor girlfriend, I call her doctor girlfriend, I
- 48:34Speaker 3: mean captain girlfriend.
- 48:37Speaker 2: Captain doctor girlfriend.
- 48:38Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, except that likes year almost yeah, until he
- 48:44Speaker 1: turned into a statue and left. Yeah. Captain lizard augment girlfriend.
- 48:49Speaker 1: That's captain lizard augment lily girlfriend.
- 48:52Speaker 2: That's right, that's right. Just all the titles we can
- 48:55Speaker 2: put on that.
- 48:56Speaker 1: She's a flower, she's an augment, she's a lizard person.
- 48:58Speaker 1: That's right, she's got all the superpowers.
- 49:01Speaker 2: That almost sounds like a like a song. She's a flower, she's.
- 49:08Speaker 1: A lizard girl.
- 49:10Speaker 7: Oh man, we got to make that a song.
- 49:13Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, or come up with a limerick.
- 49:18Speaker 2: Yes, yes, oh man, that would be hilarious.
- 49:23Speaker 1: There once was a girl who was a lizard. Okay,
- 49:29Speaker 1: I think my next project.
- 49:31Speaker 2: Yeah, you can see that the wheels turning in both
- 49:34Speaker 2: your guys' heads.
- 49:35Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, because I did do uh you know, I
- 49:39Speaker 1: I have done too uh two like poems to uh
- 49:45Speaker 1: you know I did. I did the treck cast one
- 49:47Speaker 1: and I did the Ode to Spot the Deuce lizard girlfriend. Okay,
- 49:55Speaker 1: I'll do violations.
- 49:57Speaker 7: You're gonna get Scott.
- 50:06Speaker 3: Sorry, your your generations are up because they're all content violations.
- 50:10Speaker 7: Right at the wait twenty four hours.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I can't participate in the treck cast Facebook group.
- 50:17Speaker 2: It's more like rock Paper Lizards, scissors lizards spot type game. Yeah.
- 50:21Speaker 1: Oh I like it, Yeah, I like it funny.
- 50:24Speaker 3: Yeah, the statue lizard flowers, flower augment.
- 50:32Speaker 2: Augment girlfriend captain captains and like job. She was trying
- 50:40Speaker 2: to find a job and not and like.
- 50:43Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I just went to leave the ship.
- 50:46Speaker 3: She's just like yeah, instead of being in like some
- 50:49Speaker 3: fancy medical facility like on Earth or another planet, she's
- 50:53Speaker 3: just hanging out on the enterprise problems.
- 50:56Speaker 1: Yeah, she's just like.
- 51:00Speaker 7: A captain here, I'm trying to captain.
- 51:04Speaker 1: I'm captain here, I'm captain here.
- 51:10Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I'm pretty happy with the categories. I think
- 51:14Speaker 2: I think it'll go well.
- 51:16Speaker 3: So yeah, so so do you think next week will
- 51:20Speaker 3: we have a hostile techover or will Netflix win the
- 51:24Speaker 3: bid or well.
- 51:26Speaker 2: The hostile takeover is going to take a while from
- 51:28Speaker 2: what I've.
- 51:28Speaker 3: Read, Yeah, because they're they're they're getting Saddy money and
- 51:31Speaker 3: probably everything else.
- 51:32Speaker 2: No, it's it's not just that. It from what I've read,
- 51:36Speaker 2: the way it works is they're going directly to the shareholders,
- 51:41Speaker 2: not just to the management, but the management owns a
- 51:45Speaker 2: lot of the shares too, so it's kind of.
- 51:47Speaker 3: Like so basically they can completely take over, they can
- 51:51Speaker 3: fire the whole board.
- 51:54Speaker 2: Well, it depends on how many shares are out there
- 51:58Speaker 2: amongst the public versus how money are internal. You know,
- 52:01Speaker 2: I don't know those percentages. I couldn't tell you for sure.
- 52:04Speaker 7: That's the thing with Time Warner. There's probably a ton
- 52:07Speaker 7: out there. Yeah, because they've been.
- 52:10Speaker 3: Sold, bought, sold, bought sold, bought sold and I was
- 52:13Speaker 3: the AT and T purchased him for eighty five billion.
- 52:16Speaker 2: I know this. David zaslof the current CEO of Warner Brothers,
- 52:21Speaker 2: He's going to make out like a bandit no matter what.
- 52:23Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 52:25Speaker 7: He's buying a new condo somewhere.
- 52:28Speaker 2: He's buying all the new condos.
- 52:30Speaker 7: Yeah yeah, yeah, so you find a yacht on a condo.
- 52:37Speaker 2: What. What's funny is so I've been following this merger
- 52:41Speaker 2: for one for Star Trek, but two also for wrestling,
- 52:45Speaker 2: because the second biggest wrestling promotion in the in the
- 52:49Speaker 2: world's called ae W. They are currently on Warner Brothers
- 52:55Speaker 2: and if they go. If Netflix buys Warner Brothers, Netflix
- 52:59Speaker 2: owns the worldwide distribution rights for WWE, So you can't
- 53:04Speaker 2: have them both on Netflix? So what's Yeah, then then
- 53:13Speaker 2: it will be the greatest pay per view of all time.
- 53:15Speaker 2: A w versus w W the right gets the winner
- 53:18Speaker 2: gets to stay on Netflix.
- 53:20Speaker 3: Well it kind of like, was it w c W
- 53:23Speaker 3: and w w F back in the day and then
- 53:26Speaker 3: they combined and then yeah, and it was really the
- 53:30Speaker 3: best years when there was two of them competing, right
- 53:33Speaker 3: because for.
- 53:34Speaker 2: That reason to compete.
- 53:35Speaker 1: Yeah, well, didn't the w w F have to give
- 53:38Speaker 1: up the w w F because the World Wildlife Yeah,
- 53:42Speaker 1: okay foundation sued and one mm.
- 53:45Speaker 2: Hmmm yeah basically yeah, that was a long ago. Yeah,
- 53:51Speaker 2: turned into w w E. And the funny thing is
- 53:54Speaker 2: like a w is owned by the con family and
- 53:56Speaker 2: those guys are just loaded. They own like the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 54:00Speaker 2: They own like a like a soccer league or a team,
- 54:04Speaker 2: and a few other things like multi mo time billionaires.
- 54:07Speaker 2: They could buy w W if they really wanted.
- 54:10Speaker 1: To, right, yeah, right, it's just for our nonsports fans.
- 54:15Speaker 1: The Jacksonville Jaguars is an American football team, that's right,
- 54:19Speaker 1: that's right, as opposed to be as opposed to like
- 54:22Speaker 1: a wildlife statuary.
- 54:25Speaker 2: That's right, that's right. They own a tiger.
- 54:27Speaker 7: Yes, they just set them out on the field, and
- 54:31Speaker 7: that's right. The players.
- 54:33Speaker 2: It's just like the Roman Empire. Someone go out there
- 54:36Speaker 2: and put the jaguar. Oh it died again. Well maybe
- 54:41Speaker 2: next week someone will get to pet the jaguar. Yeah that.
- 54:47Speaker 1: Oh my goodness. Yeah, who knows what's gonna happen. It's
- 54:50Speaker 1: gonna be a lot of billions are gonna be changing hands,
- 54:53Speaker 1: and and the fate of some of our favorite franchises
- 54:56Speaker 1: sort of up in the air. Oh yeah, with Paramount, well,
- 55:00Speaker 1: you know this.
- 55:01Speaker 7: One in particular. It's like.
- 55:05Speaker 3: Especially Star Trek, because who knows about the new owner.
- 55:09Speaker 3: Does he like Star Trek or does he hate it?
- 55:11Speaker 1: Well, that's the thing, you know, what does the new
- 55:13Speaker 1: owner like? You know, speaking of franchises, I just watched
- 55:17Speaker 1: Mission Impossible Final Reckoning.
- 55:19Speaker 2: We watched it.
- 55:21Speaker 1: Well, I say I watched it. My wife fell asleep
- 55:24Speaker 1: because it's all the same, you know in just insert
- 55:27Speaker 1: Tom Cruise fighting and.
- 55:29Speaker 2: Right, that's right.
- 55:30Speaker 1: You know, it was kind of funny because Tom Cruise
- 55:33Speaker 1: is like sixty now, and there was a fight sequence
- 55:38Speaker 1: in the movie sort of early on, and instead of
- 55:44Speaker 1: showing the fight sequence Tom Cruise fighting these multiple bad guys.
- 55:49Speaker 1: All they did was show Hayley Atwell's reaction to the
- 55:55Speaker 1: flight like she was just yeah, they didn't, you know,
- 56:01Speaker 1: she was just. All they did was show her reaction
- 56:03Speaker 1: and her like surprise and disgust, and they didn't show
- 56:07Speaker 1: the fight sequence at all. And I'm thinking, oh, Tom
- 56:11Speaker 1: Cruise didn't want to film this.
- 56:13Speaker 2: Yeah, did you see?
- 56:17Speaker 3: It probably didn't look to his standard. You know, he
- 56:19Speaker 3: probably was like, let's let's do something else, let's.
- 56:22Speaker 1: Do something different. I'm like, oh, okay, yeah, because he's
- 56:24Speaker 1: sixty and he.
- 56:27Speaker 7: Lets to do his own stunts.
- 56:28Speaker 1: Yeah, just like yeah, so it was.
- 56:31Speaker 2: It was.
- 56:32Speaker 1: It was a fine movie. None of it made sense.
- 56:35Speaker 1: I just I turned my brain off and just you know.
- 56:38Speaker 7: Yeah, just popcorn movie.
- 56:40Speaker 1: Yeah, it was some great callbacks to the earlier films.
- 56:42Speaker 1: And yes, especially the first one, especially the first one.
- 56:46Speaker 7: Yeah, I can't believe they brought that you know.
- 56:49Speaker 1: That dude back from the from the sealed Room where Yeah.
- 56:53Speaker 2: Yeah, they could have brought back ghost Emilio.
- 56:56Speaker 1: Est of his that had been great, Yeah, that'd been great.
- 57:00Speaker 1: They killed off my favorite character.
- 57:03Speaker 7: They could have killed him off the elevator. He's been
- 57:05Speaker 7: up there for years.
- 57:07Speaker 1: A skeleton. Yeah. Yeah, they killed off the actress's name
- 57:12Speaker 1: is Ferguson. They killed her off in the Yeah, ye, Rebeca.
- 57:16Speaker 3: And she was probably my favorite character on there, and
- 57:19Speaker 3: then she got replaced by Haley out.
- 57:21Speaker 1: Well yeah, which I mean they're both tall, cool, drinks
- 57:25Speaker 1: of water, so yeah, they're easy on the eyes.
- 57:28Speaker 2: So yeah, I wonder how when they cast that you're
- 57:32Speaker 2: gonna play his girlfriend?
- 57:33Speaker 7: Basically, Recca Ferguson was like a badass.
- 57:39Speaker 2: Yeah she was.
- 57:40Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, her death was was kind of surprising in
- 57:43Speaker 1: the last movie, but spoiler alert for anybody.
- 57:46Speaker 7: Well, I think what happened was the Dune contract. She
- 57:49Speaker 7: was doing Dune and other projects.
- 57:51Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true. June three is coming out next year.
- 57:56Speaker 7: Yeah is it?
- 57:56Speaker 2: I don't have they even begun shooting that.
- 57:58Speaker 1: That's what they said. It was out next year. Avengers
- 58:03Speaker 1: three or Avengers four or five nine is coming out
- 58:06Speaker 1: next next December, just over a year away.
- 58:11Speaker 2: Spider Man next year or two.
- 58:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, super Girl. A lot of a lot of
- 58:17Speaker 1: cool movies coming out.
- 58:19Speaker 2: Yeah. So I read a thing too that like if
- 58:23Speaker 2: you want to see the new Doomsday trailer, the new
- 58:26Speaker 2: Avengers doomsday trailer. You have to go see that. What
- 58:30Speaker 2: is that? Avatar fire and Ash. But the way they're
- 58:33Speaker 2: going to do it, the report is is every week
- 58:37Speaker 2: for the first four weeks, it's a different Avengers trailer.
- 58:40Speaker 7: Oh that's cool.
- 58:42Speaker 2: So you have to go see that movie four times
- 58:45Speaker 2: to see the Avengers trailer.
- 58:47Speaker 1: I'm not. I saw the first one in the theater,
- 58:52Speaker 1: the first Avatar, and was blown away. It was amazing,
- 58:58Speaker 1: the three D, the visuals, story, everything. They waited too
- 59:03Speaker 1: long to do the sequel and it everybody lost interest.
- 59:07Speaker 1: And so I saw you know, Avatar Water and Avatar Titanic,
- 59:14Speaker 1: and I wasn't number one. I don't like Water, I whatever.
- 59:17Speaker 1: But it was just kind of more of the same.
- 59:20Speaker 1: It's like, you know, the the wow factors like watching it.
- 59:24Speaker 1: You know, it's like watching Jurassic Park come out over
- 59:27Speaker 1: and over and over again. It's just like, Okay, have
- 59:29Speaker 1: we seen this, been there, done that. I have no
- 59:31Speaker 1: interest in seeing and seeing up in flames Avatar or
- 59:35Speaker 1: whatever it's call on Fire and I, yeah, you lost me, Jim.
- 59:42Speaker 2: I haven't even seen the second one, but it it's
- 59:45Speaker 2: like one of the highest grossing films of all time,
- 59:48Speaker 2: like people saw it, you know, which is crazy.
- 59:51Speaker 1: They were trying to recapture that magic and that's what
- 59:53Speaker 1: people went and saw. They wanted to feel that that
- 59:55Speaker 1: magic again.
- 59:56Speaker 2: And it's like, what's crazy is like, So I I
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: listen to a lot of film podcasts and James Cameron
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: has been making the rounds and you know, getting ready
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: for an Avatar and so he's been on these shows
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: and the way he talks about this thing, it's so
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: passionate and so exciting. I'm like, man, I wish I
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: cared about this.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: I just don't.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: You know, A well says a street Fighter Mortal Kombat
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: coming out next year. I've seen some stills of Street
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Fighter and it looks ridiculous, but but chun Ley looks amazing.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: And apparently there is an actual scene like the Bonus
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: level in in in in Street the trailer beat up
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: a car. Yeah, I'm gonna go see it just to
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: watch that and just uh and just to see Chunley.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: What's funny is like if you watch the trailer, because
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: both these films have got trailers out right now right,
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: if you look at the Mortal Kombat trailer, you look
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: at the Street Fighter trailer. Street Fighter very clearly went
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: we're gonna go cartoony and goofy, and Mortal Kombat went,
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: we're gonna go gretty and realistic, which is kind of
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: how the way the games are anyways.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: Sure, yeah, sure, I was more of a Street Fighter
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: person than a Mortal Kombat guy. Yeah. I spent a
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: lot of time playing Street Fighter two. In fact, I
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: just bought the Ultimate Addition for the switch, so it's
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: got everything from Street Fighter one all the way up
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: to Street Fighter Altra Turbo awesome.
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: So yeah, you know, I I played Mortal Kombat and
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: I never played a street Fighter.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: Can you believe that street Fighter's fun and the cool?
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: The funny thing about I bought that game. I bought
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: street Fighter Ultimate Addition, and I still remember some of
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: the some of the special moves. Chunley and Ryu were
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: my my go to characters, and I still remembered all
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: their special moves, you know, the hot dukens and the Yeah,
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: it was great. It's it's a lot of fun, so
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: very nostalgic.
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: Well, the only Avatar care about is season two of
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: the Last Airbender on that place.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you guys, and and my son have
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: tried to get me into watching The Last air.
- 1:02:10Speaker 7: I heard I watched maybe half a season.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: Yeah, you gotta watch them in order, but I think
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: they're great. The character arc for for Prince Zuko in
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: the first season is incredible.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: I'll put it in my I'll put it in you.
- 1:02:26Speaker 7: Which one did you like better? The live action or
- 1:02:28Speaker 7: the original?
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: The original? The live action is good for what it is.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: But yeah, that so if I watched The Last Airbender,
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: what should I start with?
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: The season one?
- 1:02:40Speaker 7: Season one one?
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: When did that come out? I don't know, Like, okay,
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: I don't know how it was.
- 1:02:49Speaker 7: It was it was before Avatar?
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: But no, before that?
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: What's it based? Last based on something? Isn't it?
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: No, it's not. It's an original.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: I p it's original.
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: That's why they got called The Avatar and the Last
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: Airbender because before Avatar.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: Okay, So, so the last season one came out in
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: the mid Yeah, okay, and that's anime.
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: Mm hmm. I'll tell you this.
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: Prince Zuko the main bad guy in the first season.
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: He is voiced by what is this guy's name? Dante
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: Dante Bosco, who you know better as Rufio from Hook
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: Oh No.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, okay, okay, so yeah, Hooks one of
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: my favorite movies growing up.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: Well, there you go. Now now you're hooked.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: Now you're hooked. Now I'm hooked.
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: So just just think Rufio is about to kick that
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: little kid's ass.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: And yeah, looky, looky, I got hooky. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: and then he died. Spoiler alert for hook.
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: Yeah, an eighty year old film or whatever.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: Hook with Robin Williams is a fantastic film. If you
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: haven't seen it, check it out. Dustin Hoffman as Hook Yeah.
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: Nineteen ninety one.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: I just Robin Williams as as Peter Pan, Julia Roberts's
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: as Tinkerbell. I it's a really fun movie. Yes yeah.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: Bob Hoskins, Oh yeah, it's fantastic.

- 1:04:31Speaker 2: I recently saw the Super Mario movie with Bob Hoskins.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: Oh wow.
- 1:04:40Speaker 7: Listen to podcasts about how bad that movie.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: It's so bad. It is so so bad.
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: I want to watch Masters of the Universe.
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: I think it's on Netflix or on YouTube.
- 1:04:52Speaker 7: No, no, no, the movie.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: Yeah, the movie. Oh you're talking about the original Master,
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: the original movie, the original live action. And the reason
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: is because I'm listening to Robert. I call him Robbie
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: because we're on a first name basis. I listened to
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: Robert duncan McNeil and Garrett Wong's podcast and they talk
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: about him. Robert duncan McNeil was in Masters of the Universe. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: so I I want to maybe we should review that sometime.
