Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: Next five No, but you never know. Enmas contra.
- 0:17Speaker 2: D tell you hit me on the darn.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Yeah. What's up y'all?
- 0:23Speaker 4: Leekakati here from the band Pop Evil, and we're talking
- 0:26Speaker 4: about our eighth studio album, if you can believe it,
- 0:29Speaker 4: eight already and the album is called.
- 0:31Speaker 5: What Remains Beautiful. Lay thanks for joining us today.
- 0:36Speaker 3: It's good to be back, man. Thank you so much
- 0:38Speaker 3: again for having me.
- 0:39Speaker 5: My absolutely pleasure.
- 0:41Speaker 6: So poppy even released your eighth studio album, What Remains
- 0:44Speaker 6: back on March of twenty first.
- 0:45Speaker 5: Bro, So, how's the earlier response.
- 0:47Speaker 4: Faint been through the roof? I mean the feedback has
- 0:51Speaker 4: been incredible. I mean arguably the best feedback we've ever had.
- 0:54Speaker 4: So it's a bit of new territory for us. We're
- 0:56Speaker 4: just kind of again it's only been out for about
- 0:59Speaker 4: a weeks, just trying to just be humble about it
- 1:01Speaker 4: and just focus on this next tool we have coming
- 1:04Speaker 4: up and just full speed ahead.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Man, everything about this new eighth album.
- 1:09Speaker 6: I have to write albums like does it still matter
- 1:11Speaker 6: to you as much what the public perception is?
- 1:13Speaker 4: Like?
- 1:14Speaker 6: That have to come a stage where you just know
- 1:16Speaker 6: that you're doing the basic conding for yourself, and that's
- 1:19Speaker 6: so all of the matters early, wouldn't it.
- 1:21Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I think it's a you know, an
- 1:23Speaker 4: honest answer is a bit of both, you know. I mean, obviously,
- 1:25Speaker 4: when you make music for a living, you want people
- 1:28Speaker 4: to like it, clearly, But I mean, at the same
- 1:30Speaker 4: point with this album, there was a lot of just
- 1:32Speaker 4: me being me.
- 1:33Speaker 3: I mean, there's a therapeutic album for me.
- 1:35Speaker 4: A lot of mental health issues that I've dealt with
- 1:37Speaker 4: for my whole career that I buried.
- 1:40Speaker 3: I really, I didn't even realize I buried for as
- 1:43Speaker 3: long as I have.
- 1:44Speaker 4: Just kind of came out and the band, being as
- 1:46Speaker 4: close as we have probably ever been, really put me
- 1:49Speaker 4: in a position with support to be able to even
- 1:53Speaker 4: just do this in the first place. Once the band
- 1:55Speaker 4: kind of gave me their blessing, it was just important
- 1:59Speaker 4: for me and just to just get this off my
- 2:01Speaker 4: chest and just see where it went and whether it
- 2:03Speaker 4: was going to be pop evil music or not.
- 2:06Speaker 3: I wasn't. I got to a point where I wasn't
- 2:07Speaker 3: even really thinking about that.
- 2:08Speaker 4: It was just like, let's just see what comes out,
- 2:10Speaker 4: shut my eyes, see what my soul has to say,
- 2:13Speaker 4: and then worry about the album kind of after that
- 2:15Speaker 4: and just kind of wasn't really was trying my best
- 2:18Speaker 4: anyway not to overthink things, you know, eighth album. In
- 2:21Speaker 4: this point in my career, it's like, look like, you know,
- 2:24Speaker 4: we know what we're capable of.
- 2:25Speaker 3: We just need to prove it, you know. We need
- 2:27Speaker 3: to just.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Remind people that not only do we have a melodic side,
- 2:30Speaker 4: but we do have a heavy side. That's what the
- 2:32Speaker 4: pop evil has always stood for. It's a balance melodic with.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Our heavy and metal influence, you know.
- 2:37Speaker 4: And I just think, you know, kind of coming in
- 2:40Speaker 4: in the time we did it rock radio here in
- 2:42Speaker 4: the US, heavy music, it was just a different place.
- 2:45Speaker 4: It didn't get played the same way. There wasn't a
- 2:46Speaker 4: place for it the way that there is now in
- 2:49Speaker 4: the streaming world, you know, like you can have song
- 2:51Speaker 4: stream and go further than even radio singles do nowadays.
- 2:55Speaker 4: So it's just it's just kind of it's it's so
- 2:57Speaker 4: many different options. And with these younger bands two on
- 3:00Speaker 4: the come up, everyone's been a little bit everything, and
- 3:03Speaker 4: everyone seems to be heavier and whatnot. And you know,
- 3:06Speaker 4: we're definitely not afraid now to pick up our guitars
- 3:08Speaker 4: and it's it's uh. It just feels like it's the
- 3:11Speaker 4: right time for pop Able to really dive in and
- 3:13Speaker 4: focus on our guitars and our tones and just making
- 3:15Speaker 4: sure these songs are upbeat, hitting, and again even the
- 3:18Speaker 4: album right, it doesn't We don't need a long, long album,
- 3:21Speaker 4: just thirty four minutes. Let people get in and get
- 3:23Speaker 4: out and remind them that we're here, We're not going anywhere,
- 3:25Speaker 4: And to be honest, it's the best version of Popeople
- 3:27Speaker 4: that we've ever put out. So we like to think
- 3:29Speaker 4: the same thing, and you know, we just got to
- 3:31Speaker 4: prove it now and just get out there and make
- 3:33Speaker 4: sure our live show, which is where all our focus is.
- 3:36Speaker 4: But make sure that live show is hitting on all
- 3:38Speaker 4: cylinders and making sure that with these songs sound incredible
- 3:41Speaker 4: live and when people do come see us live, they
- 3:43Speaker 4: can really now take ownership on this album.
- 3:46Speaker 5: Very nice. You released the single side Effects, Wishful Thinking,
- 3:50Speaker 5: death Walk and What Remains, So just say somebody has
- 3:53Speaker 5: only heard those songs on the radio, are they a
- 3:55Speaker 5: good representation of the whole album?
- 3:58Speaker 4: You know what, I get asked stuff about that I don't,
- 4:01Speaker 4: I don't, I don't know. I'm not thinking about it
- 4:03Speaker 4: like that, you know, I mean, I mean you have
- 4:04Speaker 4: to listen to it yourself. If you like the four songs,
- 4:06Speaker 4: you'll have to you guys have to tell me what
- 4:08Speaker 4: the song sound like whatnot. I'm just making songs that
- 4:11Speaker 4: are are when I'm writing these, honestly. If you if you,
- 4:14Speaker 4: I guess the right way to respond is if you
- 4:17Speaker 4: listen to those four singles that we put out and
- 4:19Speaker 4: you're feeling like a little bit less weight has been lifted,
- 4:23Speaker 4: you feel a little bit lighter, then I would definitely
- 4:25Speaker 4: listen to the rest of the record because this album
- 4:27Speaker 4: is about therapy. It's about you looking yourself in the
- 4:30Speaker 4: mirror and being responsible for your actions, like you are the.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Well you are? What's when the stuff hits the fan
- 4:36Speaker 3: and there's nothing else left? What is? What is there?
- 4:39Speaker 3: There's you?
- 4:39Speaker 4: And you have that opportunity in life to really walk
- 4:42Speaker 4: out that door every day and carry depression and negativity
- 4:45Speaker 4: out on the world. Or you can choose to just
- 4:48Speaker 4: put out a better version of yourself and to constantly
- 4:50Speaker 4: try to chase perfection and to be better, you know,
- 4:53Speaker 4: And so I would I would hold that challenge. Then
- 4:55Speaker 4: the answer on that person listening like if you want
- 4:57Speaker 4: to try to be better and you want to be
- 4:58Speaker 4: influencelessen this record. I think it's a very powerful lyrical
- 5:01Speaker 4: theme record to make a difference in someone's life, you know.
- 5:04Speaker 4: But but if you're going there for judgment whatnot, and
- 5:06Speaker 4: then that's that's on you. I don't know, you know,
- 5:09Speaker 4: I mean, I don't. I listened to the band very
- 5:11Speaker 4: differently because I'm a part of it and I'm you know,
- 5:13Speaker 4: I was saying leading it, So I don't but I'm
- 5:15Speaker 4: not thinking about, yeah, we've sound like this or we
- 5:17Speaker 4: sound like that.
- 5:18Speaker 3: I don't know. That's up for you to tell me
- 5:20Speaker 3: if the songs all sound the same, you know what
- 5:21Speaker 3: I mean.
- 5:22Speaker 6: Yeah, the answer this question is pretty obviously if you've
- 5:25Speaker 6: heard the album. But the press really says that what
- 5:28Speaker 6: remains is bisonically and thematically Pop Evil's heaviest offering yet.
- 5:33Speaker 5: Like I agree with that in spades.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Do you. Yeah, No, it definitely is. It is. I mean,
- 5:37Speaker 3: we're aware of it. We understand that.
- 5:39Speaker 4: Like you know, with the name Pop Evil, people have
- 5:42Speaker 4: been saying for years for us that they want us,
- 5:44Speaker 4: they want that heavier side of pop people back, you know,
- 5:46Speaker 4: they want us explore it. And we just need to wait,
- 5:48Speaker 4: you know, we had I had to wait for the
- 5:50Speaker 4: right time for me, you know. And you look back
- 5:51Speaker 4: all the way back on our third album, which was
- 5:53Speaker 4: our kind of breakthrough album. You know, I just lost
- 5:56Speaker 4: my father. I was in a really dark place, and
- 5:59Speaker 4: a lot of the themes are it's heavier, it's darker,
- 6:01Speaker 4: you know, and I just I couldn't. I couldn't live
- 6:03Speaker 4: there off stage anymore, you know. So then you got
- 6:07Speaker 4: I'd call it more alt influence pop evil, you know
- 6:09Speaker 4: what I mean, Like it just had to be lighter
- 6:10Speaker 4: songs like Footsteps, be legendary songs that were really big
- 6:14Speaker 4: for us, but they're more uplifting, man, They're more inspiring,
- 6:16Speaker 4: you know. But now after COVID, you know, that darkness
- 6:20Speaker 4: kind of crept back in, you know. I mean for musicians,
- 6:22Speaker 4: I can speak for myself, a lot of anger, a
- 6:24Speaker 4: lot of frustration, you know, it was kind of suddenly
- 6:27Speaker 4: thrown back in our face, you know, and to harness that.
- 6:30Speaker 3: And when you're when you're a leader of a project
- 6:31Speaker 3: or your leader of.
- 6:32Speaker 4: A band, like you don't have time to be depressed
- 6:34Speaker 4: and to be you know, have to deal with mental
- 6:36Speaker 4: health issues. You have to bury it, and you have
- 6:38Speaker 4: to go to the next tour, you have to go
- 6:39Speaker 4: to the next song, the next album, And then when
- 6:42Speaker 4: you're in your personal life.
- 6:43Speaker 3: You got to go to the next bill. You got
- 6:45Speaker 3: to pay that.
- 6:45Speaker 4: You got to be there for your family, your friends,
- 6:47Speaker 4: like you got to be there, you know. So at
- 6:49Speaker 4: some point, you know, I had a break, and before
- 6:52Speaker 4: I broke the wrong way, I had to like just
- 6:54Speaker 4: let it out. And it was clear when I started
- 6:56Speaker 4: to set down and write this record, every time I
- 6:58Speaker 4: shut my eyes, it.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Would just come out. It would just come out.
- 7:02Speaker 4: And luckily, you know, for me, you know, the band
- 7:05Speaker 4: was in a great spot and we're super close together.
- 7:07Speaker 4: It was like, look, you need to go down that
- 7:08Speaker 4: road and just really see what comes out, because you
- 7:11Speaker 4: obviously need to need to like get a lot of
- 7:13Speaker 4: this off your chest. And I was like, man, I don't,
- 7:16Speaker 4: I don't know, I don't. I'm fine, I'm fine. And
- 7:17Speaker 4: then as we started to write more songs, it was
- 7:19Speaker 4: I am what remains, I'm on my death walk. That was,
- 7:22Speaker 4: you know, I'm wishful thinking, you know, the bullet that
- 7:25Speaker 4: missed zero to none. It was like constantly these things
- 7:28Speaker 4: that were like just buried that just kind of had
- 7:31Speaker 4: had to come out. And you know, and once you
- 7:32Speaker 4: are supported like that off the stage, it just finally
- 7:36Speaker 4: put me in a position to get a lot of
- 7:37Speaker 4: that weight off my chest. And I just as soon
- 7:40Speaker 4: as we were done with the record, I mean, I
- 7:41Speaker 4: can't I never felt that. I mean, I felt I
- 7:45Speaker 4: felt exhausted, but I felt finally in a better place
- 7:49Speaker 4: emotionally that I was able to at least get that
- 7:51Speaker 4: off my chest and hopefully put myself in a position
- 7:54Speaker 4: to really with this, with this album, to really make
- 7:56Speaker 4: a difference in a positive way in someone else's life.
- 7:59Speaker 4: And that's always the true beauty of being in a band.
- 8:01Speaker 4: And uh, when you can make a difference and and
- 8:03Speaker 4: and write songs that matter and maybe help someone, it's
- 8:06Speaker 4: it's a true gift and that in its own right there.
- 8:10Speaker 6: I mentioned that you had that support of the band
- 8:12Speaker 6: who did push you into making this like a personal
- 8:14Speaker 6: album lyrically, Like once you got that support made like,
- 8:17Speaker 6: did it flow out of you really quickly or was
- 8:19Speaker 6: it was it was it hard to put those personal
- 8:22Speaker 6: things paper.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it was tough.
- 8:26Speaker 4: I want to say, probably took about a little over
- 8:28Speaker 4: a year to really get all this stuff out, So
- 8:30Speaker 4: it was it wasn't easy right away, and it took
- 8:33Speaker 4: it took months to finally figure out, like, wow, like
- 8:36Speaker 4: I'm really writing this about me. I didn't know because
- 8:38Speaker 4: normally it's easier to write about other people or put
- 8:40Speaker 4: yourself in someone else's shoes, you know. So yeah, I
- 8:43Speaker 4: don't want to say it was easy, you know. But
- 8:44Speaker 4: but once it started to we started to really harness
- 8:48Speaker 4: and really understand about what I.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Was trying to write.
- 8:51Speaker 4: It was the support even came stronger from the band,
- 8:54Speaker 4: from the management, from the label, and it was like, okay,
- 8:56Speaker 4: well let's just uh, let's just see what comes out,
- 8:59Speaker 4: you know, and I I just every time I seemed
- 9:01Speaker 4: to shut my eyes though it was just more healing,
- 9:03Speaker 4: more stuff that like, wow, I guess let's see, you know.
- 9:06Speaker 4: And in some of these songs, I had no intention
- 9:07Speaker 4: of ever releasing. I just wanted to get it out.
- 9:10Speaker 4: But the more the band supported, the more they were like, wow,
- 9:12Speaker 4: like we need to we need to release this. This
- 9:13Speaker 4: should be pop evil, you know, because a lot of
- 9:15Speaker 4: times when I write, I'm not always writing for Pop Evil.
- 9:18Speaker 3: I'm writing for myself and just kind of.
- 9:19Speaker 4: Like just just enjoying the the the art of being
- 9:23Speaker 4: able to write lyrics like what comes out, you know.
- 9:25Speaker 4: And then but once the band started to support it
- 9:28Speaker 4: and really wanted to kind of make these pop evil songs,
- 9:31Speaker 4: it was h it was exciting, you know.
- 9:33Speaker 3: At first it was a little bit shocking, and.
- 9:35Speaker 4: I don't know, you know, I just maybe we should
- 9:37Speaker 4: write some other stuff, you know. But but then once
- 9:39Speaker 4: we really started to grasp it and the artwork started
- 9:41Speaker 4: to take shape, because I would really start to talk
- 9:44Speaker 4: about how I felt like in this day and age,
- 9:46Speaker 4: how constantly people are trying to be pitted against each other, right, Like,
- 9:50Speaker 4: that's not why I came into this business.
- 9:52Speaker 3: I needed.
- 9:53Speaker 4: I need other people in my life. I love having
- 9:55Speaker 4: other people in my life. I wanted to I wanted
- 9:57Speaker 4: to be a singer because in a band, because I
- 10:00Speaker 4: wanted to sing with other people in a group. I mean,
- 10:03Speaker 4: if you've been to a popular show, they're very crowd evolved,
- 10:06Speaker 4: a lot of singing back to each other, we're singing together.
- 10:08Speaker 4: It's just to me, it's like church, you know what
- 10:11Speaker 4: I mean, like not even religious question. Music has always
- 10:14Speaker 4: been my religion, you know. So it's like when you
- 10:16Speaker 4: get with your with your band family and everyone's playing
- 10:19Speaker 4: and singing along. That always kind of was my was
- 10:23Speaker 4: my release, you know, So it just it just kind
- 10:26Speaker 4: of I think, you know, looking back. Sorry, I'm trying
- 10:30Speaker 4: to think about it as we go. It just it
- 10:32Speaker 4: wasn't It wasn't always easy, but you know, you know,
- 10:34Speaker 4: here we are diving in and just kind of wasn't
- 10:36Speaker 4: trying to Oh yeah, the artwork, I'm sorry, but the artwork,
- 10:39Speaker 4: when you look at the artwork the volcano and the
- 10:42Speaker 4: artwork on the album cover is so metaphorical to human
- 10:45Speaker 4: beings and where I feel human beings are right.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Now in the world.
- 10:48Speaker 4: Like I think as good as people are, even we
- 10:50Speaker 4: are all one life event away from eruption. It's like
- 10:52Speaker 4: we're all on the edge, whether it's our finance, whether
- 10:55Speaker 4: it's our family, whether it's our personal mental health issues.
- 10:58Speaker 4: Like one event boom, next thing, you know, you're taking
- 11:01Speaker 4: it out on someone you regret, you know what I mean.
- 11:03Speaker 4: And I thought it was important to remind people to
- 11:05Speaker 4: walk with gratitude this album, to remind them that when
- 11:08Speaker 4: the thickened thing about this record is when all the
- 11:11Speaker 4: shit hits a fan, when all that other stuff happens
- 11:14Speaker 4: to you in your life? What is left you yourself,
- 11:17Speaker 4: not about your friends, your peers, your family around you.
- 11:19Speaker 4: It's you looking back in the mirror at yourself in
- 11:22Speaker 4: the morning, every day, or whenever you decide to look
- 11:24Speaker 4: at yourself in the mirror and looking back at you.
- 11:26Speaker 4: You know, are you going to leave your house that
- 11:28Speaker 4: day and take it out on someone by you know,
- 11:31Speaker 4: sending negativity out there? Are you going to try to
- 11:33Speaker 4: walk and become that better version of yourself or every
- 11:35Speaker 4: day and try to attain that right, try to be better?
- 11:37Speaker 4: And you know, we aren't anything in this world without
- 11:39Speaker 4: someone else. You know, I don't want to put I
- 11:41Speaker 4: don't want to do something to harm someone that might
- 11:43Speaker 4: be around me in my life or that I don't
- 11:45Speaker 4: know yet that can actually make a difference in helping
- 11:47Speaker 4: me grow my personal journey or help me in a
- 11:50Speaker 4: positive way.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Right.
- 11:51Speaker 4: And I think it's crazy how when you think about
- 11:54Speaker 4: you know, maybe you have a heart attack, you're on
- 11:56Speaker 4: your deathbed, and here you're not going to think about
- 11:58Speaker 4: that doctor being any political resemblance.
- 12:01Speaker 3: You're not going to think about what that doctor likes
- 12:03Speaker 3: or doesn't like, or what you know.
- 12:04Speaker 4: You're going to think about gosh, this guy saved my
- 12:06Speaker 4: life and he put whatever he could forward to try
- 12:08Speaker 4: to help you. At that point, it doesn't matter what
- 12:10Speaker 4: you are, what you look like, what skin color you are.
- 12:13Speaker 4: It matters that it's a human connection there, that we're
- 12:15Speaker 4: all similar in the way that we're all trying to
- 12:17Speaker 4: better ourselves. We're all trying to get to move forward
- 12:20Speaker 4: in life. We're all trying to be better. But the
- 12:22Speaker 4: reality is the only thing really for a lot of
- 12:25Speaker 4: us that's consistent. Sometimes family isn't. Doctors, lawyers, friends not consistent.
- 12:30Speaker 4: All it can't count on. But the one thing we
- 12:31Speaker 4: can always count on is the music. Now you pop
- 12:34Speaker 4: it on, it's consistent, it's the same. And we wanted
- 12:37Speaker 4: to make sure with pop Evil that we're not only
- 12:39Speaker 4: trying to grow and challenge ourself, but we're trying to
- 12:41Speaker 4: be consistent now more than ever, to really hone in
- 12:44Speaker 4: on that identity for pop Evil and remind them that, hey.
- 12:47Speaker 3: We're here for you.
- 12:47Speaker 4: We're working for our fans to make sure we can
- 12:49Speaker 4: be better and to hopefully deliver better albums even moving forward.
- 12:52Speaker 4: And we like to think that this album was a
- 12:54Speaker 4: step in the right direction for that, but I.
- 12:57Speaker 5: Asked Brian, Like in the hull rotting that whole ye?
- 13:00Speaker 6: Do you writing about these personal things like you would
- 13:02Speaker 6: have been very vulnerable at stages Like now it's out
- 13:05Speaker 6: and the world's heard it, does it make you feel
- 13:08Speaker 6: better or is it worse?
- 13:10Speaker 5: Like knowing that the world knows one of your personal stuff?
- 13:14Speaker 4: Uh, you know, it's still only a week old, so
- 13:16Speaker 4: I haven't I haven't spent a lot of time thinking
- 13:18Speaker 4: of that. I think that really starts to shape up
- 13:20Speaker 4: when you start playing these songs live, because then you
- 13:23Speaker 4: can really see firsthand.
- 13:24Speaker 3: Like right now, it's simple. I mean, even though we've
- 13:26Speaker 3: had a lot of great feedback.
- 13:28Speaker 4: It's just social media comments, right, Like, I don't listen
- 13:31Speaker 4: to them anymore if they're positive or negative. Right, it's
- 13:33Speaker 4: just just just kind of a short fix. Someone likes
- 13:36Speaker 4: your record, cool, someone doesn't like you.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Whatever, you go on to the next.
- 13:39Speaker 4: But when you play live for someone, or you do
- 13:41Speaker 4: a meet and greet with someone and you see people
- 13:43Speaker 4: face to face and they're like, oh my god, like
- 13:45Speaker 4: I really like the album's really amazing, and you can
- 13:48Speaker 4: see the react because people's eyes don't lie necessarily, right, Like,
- 13:51Speaker 4: you see the reactions you're like, oh, wow, like wow,
- 13:54Speaker 4: we're making a difference in someone's life, you know what
- 13:56Speaker 4: I mean, even though you might like the record now, well,
- 13:58Speaker 4: are you gonna like it six months from now?
- 14:00Speaker 3: Are you gonna like it a year from now?
- 14:01Speaker 4: And if you do, imagine how much more people might
- 14:05Speaker 4: like the record. And we know that from some of
- 14:07Speaker 4: our past successes, like the people that are Dinner fans
- 14:11Speaker 4: for a long time and they love the old stuff.
- 14:12Speaker 4: It's incredible when they love the old because now it's
- 14:15Speaker 4: become a part of their lives. So as these songs
- 14:17Speaker 4: start to these newer songs become older and they become
- 14:20Speaker 4: a part of people's lives, it's really awesome to see
- 14:23Speaker 4: and maybe then you can really be like wow, like
- 14:25Speaker 4: we're making a difference in someone's life. Right now, it's
- 14:27Speaker 4: still all kind of new and just kind of like,
- 14:29Speaker 4: you know, your numb because the album, any kind of
- 14:32Speaker 4: release is a little numbing because it's emotional.
- 14:34Speaker 3: You're used to the songs being your own and now
- 14:36Speaker 3: you're giving them out again.
- 14:38Speaker 4: It's a little kind of a there's definitely a part
- 14:40Speaker 4: of that where you're like, no, these are my songs.
- 14:42Speaker 3: And even though people are giving you kind feedback. You're like,
- 14:44Speaker 3: I don't care what, No, these are my songs. You're
- 14:46Speaker 3: not supposed to hear these yet, you know. But no, No,
- 14:48Speaker 3: that's right, they're not mine anymore.
- 14:49Speaker 4: You have to get used to They're like kids, right
- 14:51Speaker 4: when you go out to college or something. You're like, Okay,
- 14:53Speaker 4: you gotta.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Let them grow up.
- 14:54Speaker 4: You know. It's just kind of the same thing with songs.
- 14:56Speaker 4: You got to let them do the thing. Now they're
- 14:58Speaker 4: not yours anymore. So I think it's a little new
- 15:00Speaker 4: and still early for me to really truly answer that.
- 15:02Speaker 4: But but yeah, I mean it's it's it's it's rewarding
- 15:05Speaker 4: and nerve wrecking. I mean, I think it's it's it's
- 15:07Speaker 4: a little bit of both and and uh, you know,
- 15:09Speaker 4: sometimes you forget because obviously I wrote this album about
- 15:12Speaker 4: a year about almost a year ago now, so it's
- 15:15Speaker 4: been it's been a minute since the songs have been
- 15:18Speaker 4: done now, but I haven't heard them. I put them
- 15:19Speaker 4: to bed probably when it's been done, and the in
- 15:21Speaker 4: the uh, right after the final mixes, I stopped.
- 15:23Speaker 3: I was done.
- 15:24Speaker 4: I wanted to lock them away so when they did
- 15:26Speaker 4: come out they'd be fresh for me.
- 15:28Speaker 3: But you know not right now.
- 15:29Speaker 4: I'm onto other ideas and I'm onto different things. So
- 15:31Speaker 4: like it's fun to kind of think back. And I
- 15:33Speaker 4: love I love interviews because I love the questions people
- 15:36Speaker 4: give me that you know, make me think back when
- 15:37Speaker 4: I was doing it, where my mind would have been
- 15:39Speaker 4: it because definitely I was a lot more nervous, uh,
- 15:43Speaker 4: you know, uncomfortable when I was writing them because it
- 15:47Speaker 4: was scary then. You know, You're like, I don't know
- 15:49Speaker 4: if I want to say that, you know, but now
- 15:50Speaker 4: I've had time to think about it, and you know,
- 15:52Speaker 4: or not or forget it, you know, and it just
- 15:55Speaker 4: kind of be ready and you know, just be Uh.
- 15:57Speaker 4: I'm just excited about the tour and getting to see
- 15:59Speaker 4: what songs that we start to play first live, you know,
- 16:01Speaker 4: I mean, what songs are we gonna play? We're gonna
- 16:03Speaker 4: play them all? Are we gonna play it for you?
- 16:04Speaker 4: Like it's it's it's awesome to kind of get together
- 16:07Speaker 4: as a band and kind of respect each other enough
- 16:09Speaker 4: to kind of, you know, see what comes out and
- 16:11Speaker 4: to see what the band wants to do. So that's
- 16:13Speaker 4: part of the fun about being in a group and
- 16:14Speaker 4: working together in a group. It's uh, it's the most
- 16:17Speaker 4: fun I think about being in a band in generals,
- 16:19Speaker 4: when you first release the project, it's just every day
- 16:23Speaker 4: after becomes a little less exciting because then you get
- 16:25Speaker 4: one day closer to recording your next project. So it's
- 16:28Speaker 4: just it's just it's a it's a bit of a
- 16:31Speaker 4: never ending cycle that just keeps repeating. It's up, but
- 16:35Speaker 4: it's certainly we're certainly proud of this record. We're so
- 16:37Speaker 4: excited and uh, you know, we wanna, we wanna. We're
- 16:40Speaker 4: definitely looking forward to playing these songs live and to
- 16:41Speaker 4: see what songs become, you know, a part of that
- 16:44Speaker 4: true diehard pop people set.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Let's moving forward now.
- 16:48Speaker 6: I want to go back to the heaviness of the
- 16:49Speaker 6: album A little bit made and use three songs in
- 16:51Speaker 6: particularly highlight what a well and talking about there's wishful
- 16:54Speaker 6: thinking what remains the side effects.
- 16:56Speaker 5: But those three songs have got some of the chunkiest
- 16:59Speaker 5: breakdowns in a long time.
- 17:01Speaker 6: But I've also got how minis passages as electronic based passages,
- 17:05Speaker 6: and they are things you don't normally associate with heavy metal,
- 17:09Speaker 6: but you not only make it work if you actually nihilibrate.
- 17:11Speaker 5: So as a listener, I'm notice these things. But as
- 17:14Speaker 5: a musician, does that come into your thinking when you're
- 17:16Speaker 5: writing it?
- 17:18Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 17:18Speaker 4: Absolutely, you know, like where we're constantly trying to push
- 17:20Speaker 4: and find our own identities to make them more clear
- 17:23Speaker 4: and more Obviously, when you have so many great bands
- 17:25Speaker 4: that came before you, it's really hard to stand out
- 17:27Speaker 4: because so many people have done so many cool and
- 17:29Speaker 4: creative things. So finding your creative in it can be
- 17:33Speaker 4: the most intimidating. It's hard, you know, it's hard to
- 17:35Speaker 4: kind of stand out and find your own niche in it. So,
- 17:38Speaker 4: you know, obviously we knew the strength of pop people
- 17:40Speaker 4: have always been the melody. You know, you either love
- 17:42Speaker 4: us for the melody or you hate us because of
- 17:44Speaker 4: this thing with melody. You know, that's just a melodic singer.
- 17:46Speaker 3: That's how I started. That's who I am, is what
- 17:48Speaker 3: my voice does.
- 17:49Speaker 4: But pushing my voice in different directions, making sure it's
- 17:54Speaker 4: not just the same old, boring Hey, I recorded the
- 17:56Speaker 4: vocal on the take. Let's just put a little verb
- 17:58Speaker 4: on it.
- 17:59Speaker 3: And wrap it up. No, no, no, no no.
- 18:01Speaker 4: There's so much technology now that can be again overwhelming.
- 18:05Speaker 4: So number one, finding producers who know how to explore
- 18:07Speaker 4: that show you different ideas that might this sound cool,
- 18:10Speaker 4: that's experimental enough to like, hey man, what if you
- 18:12Speaker 4: did that knows your voice, knows you? I mean obviously
- 18:14Speaker 4: Drew Fulk did all three of those songs. He's one
- 18:17Speaker 4: of my longtime favorite producers.
- 18:20Speaker 3: I've worked with him.
- 18:20Speaker 4: I've had a lot of success with him with Waking Lions,
- 18:23Speaker 4: Breathe Again, Eye of the Storm. I've had so many
- 18:25Speaker 4: great success with him that it was important when I
- 18:27Speaker 4: got back with Drew had said. The first thing I
- 18:28Speaker 4: said with him in that session that when I was
- 18:30Speaker 4: with him was like, I'm not here to repeat any
- 18:32Speaker 4: of the stuff we did before. I don't want to
- 18:34Speaker 4: do any of that. We already have that insaid already
- 18:36Speaker 4: have those those songs even went number one. So I'm like,
- 18:39Speaker 4: those songs all went number one. I don't I don't.
- 18:41Speaker 3: Care about that. I want to do something different.
- 18:43Speaker 4: How can you push me, push my vocal, push our concepts,
- 18:46Speaker 4: to push it, to take him step further? And Drew
- 18:49Speaker 4: is smart enough and he's so talented enough to say
- 18:51Speaker 4: I got you, and literally he would just you know,
- 18:55Speaker 4: we'll cut, will drop, and then they'll say give me
- 18:57Speaker 4: a minute. He'll kind of do what producers do, and
- 19:00Speaker 4: then I'll go, nah, I don't like that, or oh
- 19:02Speaker 4: my gosh, that give me an idea, what if we
- 19:03Speaker 4: try this one? So it's fun stages right, like you
- 19:06Speaker 4: go for the singing stage and you sing it. Oh no,
- 19:08Speaker 4: you go from the writing stage first, where you put
- 19:10Speaker 4: the concept together and you you know, you dive in
- 19:12Speaker 4: and you totally try to make it as perfect and
- 19:14Speaker 4: in stages right the chorus verse breakdown, you do them
- 19:18Speaker 4: all all separate, so at least that's how I do it,
- 19:21Speaker 4: so each section gets the right attention that it deserves.
- 19:24Speaker 4: And then when you're done, you know, you can play
- 19:26Speaker 4: around effects, playing around with electronics, you can play around
- 19:28Speaker 4: with the guitar times, play around with the drums, and
- 19:31Speaker 4: then when you're done with all that, now you kick
- 19:33Speaker 4: the idea to the band.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Now, what's the band like?
- 19:35Speaker 4: The band got on ideas, dive into they like and
- 19:37Speaker 4: are they You know a lot of times I know
- 19:39Speaker 4: the band well enough now that if they're not getting
- 19:41Speaker 4: blown away, then I don't want let's go to another one,
- 19:44Speaker 4: because the band should hear that and go, oh shit,
- 19:46Speaker 4: you know what I mean, because they're they're not the
- 19:48Speaker 4: singer of the band I am, so when they hear
- 19:50Speaker 4: and so it's different. Like if you and me are
- 19:52Speaker 4: in a band and you do a demo and it's
- 19:55Speaker 4: you singing or someone else. So you pitch me a
- 19:57Speaker 4: song and it's side it called side effect, and I
- 20:00Speaker 4: listened to it and you do it. You know that
- 20:02Speaker 4: I have to sing that for it to be pop evil,
- 20:05Speaker 4: so it's going to sound different. But if I do
- 20:07Speaker 4: the vocal and I do a song called side effects,
- 20:09Speaker 4: you can listen to it and go, oh shit, that's
- 20:12Speaker 4: awesome because you know exactly how it's going to sound now, right,
- 20:15Speaker 4: So it's different. The band can hear my demos and go, wow,
- 20:19Speaker 4: the song's done, or that's pop evil, or no, that's
- 20:21Speaker 4: not pop evil, you know what I mean. So it's
- 20:22Speaker 4: just it's an advantage that I have when I write
- 20:26Speaker 4: as a writer and a singer because when I'm singing poppy,
- 20:28Speaker 4: I sing for pop evil, So it's like, you know,
- 20:30Speaker 4: it's my band, So when they hear my voice on it,
- 20:32Speaker 4: it's easier to kind of, yeah, that could be cool.
- 20:34Speaker 4: What Another idea comes from a different perspective, and a
- 20:37Speaker 4: lot of people don't write.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Lyrics for me. Because they know I write lyrics.
- 20:40Speaker 4: So it's very rare, but it does happen every now
- 20:42Speaker 4: and then you'll get an idea. Actually, there's a song
- 20:44Speaker 4: on her album called Criminal I love Joey and Blake
- 20:47Speaker 4: wrote and they had they wanted to pitch me it
- 20:49Speaker 4: and they said, look, we wrote a song for you
- 20:51Speaker 4: as if we were you. And they're phenomenal writers I love.
- 20:53Speaker 4: I'm a fan of them even though they're in my band.
- 20:55Speaker 4: I'm a fan of them as the writers. And I've
- 20:58Speaker 4: asked them even before they around our band. I was like,
- 21:00Speaker 4: we got to write together. I'm really excited to see
- 21:02Speaker 4: what we do. So we've been waiting, though, and I
- 21:04Speaker 4: have so many songs that I've written myself. Sometimes it's
- 21:07Speaker 4: easy to kind of, you know, we run out of
- 21:09Speaker 4: time and we don't get to that other song. But
- 21:11Speaker 4: I made sure, you know, especially with them me in
- 21:13Speaker 4: the band, that I wanted to see something that they had,
- 21:16Speaker 4: you know, and they had Krim and I just loved it,
- 21:18Speaker 4: and I was like, look, let me write do my
- 21:19Speaker 4: thing to it and see if you guys like it.
- 21:21Speaker 4: And of course, I you know, took it. Took a
- 21:23Speaker 4: lot of what they had dialed in and then kind
- 21:25Speaker 4: of put my spin on it and they loved it
- 21:27Speaker 4: and it ended up making the album.
- 21:28Speaker 3: You know. So it's just writing is different from me
- 21:30Speaker 3: than being in the band.
- 21:31Speaker 4: Like writing is like I think about it as like
- 21:34Speaker 4: English class when I was one of those nerds in
- 21:36Speaker 4: English class that when the pape, when the teacher would
- 21:38Speaker 4: give me the comments and say another draft, I'd be like,
- 21:41Speaker 4: I can't wait to do another draft because I want
- 21:43Speaker 4: to I want to see I want to push my
- 21:45Speaker 4: vocabular skill. I want to see if I can like
- 21:47Speaker 4: get the girl to be like why are my teacher to.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Be why did you use that word? Man? That's way
- 21:51Speaker 3: too big of a.
- 21:51Speaker 4: Word to be like no, no, no, I want to
- 21:53Speaker 4: dive in. And I was just kind of I would
- 21:55Speaker 4: kind of nerd out on that, you know. So I
- 21:57Speaker 4: looked at writing clinics and writing clinics that I would
- 21:59Speaker 4: do when I was a kid, and then writing clinics
- 22:01Speaker 4: now as a musician, to like some of my favorite
- 22:04Speaker 4: writing clinics would be it's like I'll pretend you're me.
- 22:07Speaker 4: I'll I'll pretend i'm you, you pretend you're me, and
- 22:10Speaker 4: let's write a song called side Effects because you talking
- 22:13Speaker 4: in my in my pretending you're me, you might say
- 22:16Speaker 4: things that I would. You might be a little more
- 22:17Speaker 4: confident because you're not me. You can hide behind my
- 22:20Speaker 4: facials and be like yo yo, I said it like
- 22:23Speaker 4: this and say things in a more cockier, arrogant way
- 22:25Speaker 4: that I would never say about myself because it's me
- 22:27Speaker 4: and I might be a little bit shy. And suddenly
- 22:29Speaker 4: I read your lyrics and go, wow, that's that's pretty
- 22:31Speaker 4: cool man.
- 22:31Speaker 3: Let's use your line.
- 22:33Speaker 4: I mean, so you go back and forth and do it.
- 22:35Speaker 4: There's just a lot of fun.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Man.
- 22:36Speaker 4: There's so many different writing techniques that like. Truly, that's
- 22:40Speaker 4: what I think. The experience, the writing experience can be
- 22:43Speaker 4: so fun, you know, because it's just different. Obviously when
- 22:45Speaker 4: you tour, it's a whole different kind of fun because
- 22:47Speaker 4: now you but but touring in a way, even though
- 22:51Speaker 4: it's fun, it's it's not it's it's not as fun
- 22:54Speaker 4: in other.
- 22:54Speaker 3: Ways because you're locked to the grid.
- 22:56Speaker 4: If you have a hit song, you have to sing
- 22:57Speaker 4: the song the same every night, Like it's just it's
- 22:59Speaker 4: pretty boring.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Right, Like you go up and sing your song.
- 23:02Speaker 4: Now it doesn't get boring hearing people in other countries
- 23:04Speaker 4: and other cities and say it sing the same, that's all.
- 23:07Speaker 3: It never gets old. But like the actual job itself.
- 23:11Speaker 4: Okay, I wrote a song, you know, fifteen years ago,
- 23:14Speaker 4: and I have to number one. I'm blessed that I
- 23:16Speaker 4: get to sing it again today. But it's not I
- 23:19Speaker 4: have to sing it the same way I did fifteen
- 23:21Speaker 4: years ago, or somebody's going to be upset at me.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Oh we sang it weird, now he sang it different. Well,
- 23:26Speaker 3: I wrote that song fifteen years ago. I don't even
- 23:28Speaker 3: I'm a different guy. Now you might have.
- 23:31Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, So I can only imagine with the like
- 23:34Speaker 4: the bigger bands, you know, the Lincoln Parks and you know,
- 23:37Speaker 4: but sometimes these songs like become a part of like
- 23:40Speaker 4: they become a part of the genre, like right, Like
- 23:42Speaker 4: that's why when we lose some of these amazing iconic musicians,
- 23:46Speaker 4: that's why it hurts so much, because we lose a
- 23:49Speaker 4: piece of ourselves, right, we lease a piece of our past.
- 23:51Speaker 4: You know, when you don't hear that person's voice again,
- 23:54Speaker 4: it can be tough, man, it can be really tough.
- 23:56Speaker 4: So I understand that, and we want to be responsible
- 23:58Speaker 4: to our older back catalog but at the same time,
- 24:01Speaker 4: that's what makes writing I think a little bit, just
- 24:04Speaker 4: a little bit fresh, because like, you can sing it
- 24:06Speaker 4: a different way. Now it's not anyone it's your song still, right,
- 24:09Speaker 4: So I can sing the hook a little different, and
- 24:10Speaker 4: I can I can mess it up. If I can
- 24:12Speaker 4: do whatever, I can write it a little different, you know.
- 24:14Speaker 4: So it's just, uh, it's just there's so many fun
- 24:17Speaker 4: elements that don't really get discussed about interviews because a
- 24:19Speaker 4: lot of times it has to be just keep it
- 24:21Speaker 4: stock and keep it simple. But I like talking about
- 24:24Speaker 4: just kind of through human element that make it a
- 24:27Speaker 4: little bit different, a little bit unique.
- 24:29Speaker 3: Nice. Right.
- 24:30Speaker 6: If there's one thing pop people does better than write music, brother,
- 24:33Speaker 6: it's play it live.
- 24:34Speaker 5: So what shows you got coming up? And where are
- 24:36Speaker 5: you going?
- 24:37Speaker 3: Thank you for that.
- 24:38Speaker 4: Yeah, we're excited. We start off in uh, we start
- 24:40Speaker 4: off on the West Coast and then we're gonna all
- 24:42Speaker 4: the way from Lay to New York. We just played
- 24:44Speaker 4: in New York actually, so we're just gonna tour as
- 24:46Speaker 4: much as we can here in the US, hopefully grow
- 24:48Speaker 4: the band even more where we can kind of hopefully
- 24:51Speaker 4: get to a place where we can kind of have
- 24:53Speaker 4: a little more control of our finance with that, so
- 24:55Speaker 4: we can afford to take losses in other countries because
- 24:58Speaker 4: sometimes starting out another cunt, it can be a very
- 25:03Speaker 4: dangerous on the debt of a band, and if you
- 25:05Speaker 4: take on debt as a band, if fans don't understand,
- 25:08Speaker 4: that can be why a big reason why bands don't
- 25:10Speaker 4: come back or they don't get to go there, because
- 25:12Speaker 4: you know, obviously, if you're not big in a country,
- 25:14Speaker 4: you can't make money to break even, and then of
- 25:16Speaker 4: course with flights and getting in over there, so it's
- 25:18Speaker 4: a bit challenging. But we want to do the right things,
- 25:21Speaker 4: make them right moves now because of the touring so
- 25:23Speaker 4: we can really grow this band around the world. So
- 25:25Speaker 4: it's definitely been something Obviously Australia it is one of
- 25:28Speaker 4: our favorite countries to play and we've only done it.
- 25:31Speaker 4: We've only done it that one time and it was
- 25:33Speaker 4: just unbelievable. Were blown away by the love of support.
- 25:36Speaker 4: I remember thinking I had no idea we had as
- 25:38Speaker 4: many fans as we did, you know, down Under, and
- 25:40Speaker 4: it was just such a I never would have thought
- 25:42Speaker 4: in my wildest dreams I'd even get to vacation to Australia,
- 25:45Speaker 4: let alone play music there. So I think that we
- 25:48Speaker 4: all have a special place in our heart for Australia
- 25:51Speaker 4: because of just.
- 25:51Speaker 3: The love that we received there for the first time.
- 25:53Speaker 3: It really resonated with us.
- 25:54Speaker 4: And I'm definitely planning on hopefully something this album cycle.
- 25:58Speaker 4: I know we've talked about it with the managers. We're
- 26:00Speaker 4: just in New York with the label and managers, and
- 26:03Speaker 4: we're definitely, you know, definitely on top of trying to
- 26:06Speaker 4: put something together here this album cycle, sooner than later,
- 26:09Speaker 4: to get your way.
- 26:10Speaker 3: So I know that the band, it's the first thing
- 26:12Speaker 3: they say every album, when are we going to Australia? Now?
- 26:15Speaker 3: When are we going to another country?
- 26:16Speaker 4: When are we going to Australia specifically, So I can't
- 26:19Speaker 4: wait to make that a reality and get back your
- 26:22Speaker 4: way and then hopefully hopefully sooner than later. Man, and
- 26:25Speaker 4: definitely excited to play these new songs your way as well.
- 26:28Speaker 6: So I'll let it this out, light it right it Deve,
- 26:30Speaker 6: mind giving me your email address or contact as I'll
- 26:33Speaker 6: know if you're provided us said, I can have a
- 26:34Speaker 6: word to you and see about maybe bringing you back out.
- 26:37Speaker 4: I think I think can you can? I text you
- 26:40Speaker 4: or Olympia will give you one. My emails are different
- 26:43Speaker 4: they have. I'll text Olympia that you want the email,
- 26:47Speaker 4: she'll give you the one we have. I don't know
- 26:48Speaker 4: one they're using for.
- 26:49Speaker 5: It, okay, and not all that subject. You remember a
- 26:52Speaker 5: band called out Ordi I Rain that supported you and
- 26:53Speaker 5: Adelaida when you were at here.
- 26:55Speaker 3: I think I do, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:57Speaker 5: Yeah, they're they're looking.
- 26:58Speaker 6: This is probably unlikely, but they want to do an
- 27:00Speaker 6: overseas tour as well, and I'm I'm their manager, so
- 27:03Speaker 6: it would be remissive me not to ask you if
- 27:05Speaker 6: there's any chance that you could throw them on a
- 27:07Speaker 6: few shows over there.
- 27:09Speaker 4: It's possible, man, I mean it just again, it's not
- 27:11Speaker 4: really I don't do the booking anymore, so it's just
- 27:13Speaker 4: but I can put in a word for sure.
- 27:15Speaker 3: Man, I'd love to have them out. I remember they
- 27:17Speaker 3: were great.
- 27:19Speaker 5: So I'll just get onto a failure about all that
- 27:21Speaker 5: stuff and get the emails.
- 27:23Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, get get get Olympia or finn they're handing it.
- 27:26Speaker 4: They'll give you the emails that they're doing for sure.
- 27:28Speaker 5: No, right, it's actually buddy.
- 27:30Speaker 6: Now before we let you go, I've introduced a new segment,
- 27:32Speaker 6: a heavy called photo Bomb. So basically before we spoke,
- 27:35Speaker 6: I've trolled through your social media and I've come up
- 27:38Speaker 6: with a few photos that I want to know a
- 27:39Speaker 6: bit more about.
- 27:42Speaker 5: This one made like what the hell is this big
- 27:44Speaker 5: fella doing on your stage?
- 27:46Speaker 3: A great.
- 27:50Speaker 4: Yeah, Oh that's a great story. Okay, man, that's movie
- 27:54Speaker 4: quality suit tour. I remember, all right, So we played Halloween.
- 27:57Speaker 4: We're in Kansas City, Missouri there and we played Halloween show.
- 28:01Speaker 4: And so the trick was that they were gonna get
- 28:04Speaker 4: Star Wars uniforms for us. We were gonna be obviously,
- 28:07Speaker 4: I was gonna be Darth Vader and the rest of
- 28:09Speaker 4: the band was going to be Stormtroopers.
- 28:11Speaker 3: And of course we wanted movie.
- 28:13Speaker 4: Quality, so they got us the movie quality suits and
- 28:16Speaker 4: they were the hottest suits, so I think most of us.
- 28:19Speaker 4: I could only wear the helmet for one song and
- 28:22Speaker 4: the rest of the day the only wear It's like
- 28:23Speaker 4: one song and we got off the stage and it
- 28:26Speaker 4: was like we jumped in the pool.
- 28:27Speaker 3: I don't even know if they took those costumes back.
- 28:29Speaker 4: They were ruined. I mean we were, they were completely drenched.
- 28:33Speaker 4: It was crazy, But that was That's a good picture.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Man, I love it. That's a good one. Good memory.
- 28:39Speaker 5: No, I said, I'm god this one as well, Like, yeah,
- 28:43Speaker 5: what do you do that's actually doing here?
- 28:45Speaker 6: Man?
- 28:45Speaker 5: Like you've got some serious air?
- 28:47Speaker 3: Is this?
- 28:47Speaker 5: Is this a jump off that you should have it
- 28:49Speaker 5: on stage?
- 28:50Speaker 4: Oh dude, that's Blake and I yeah, yeah, yeah, So Blake,
- 28:53Speaker 4: Now this is before he Blake is now our drummer
- 28:56Speaker 4: in Pop Evil, but this is before he was our drummer.
- 28:59Speaker 3: We're actually touring.
- 29:00Speaker 4: I think this is on tour with Skillet and seven
- 29:03Speaker 4: Dust and Devour the Day, Devoured the Day, which is
- 29:06Speaker 4: Blake's band, and and Poppy Eevil of course, and uh
- 29:09Speaker 4: he would come up and do trenches with us, and
- 29:12Speaker 4: I of course always did my signature jump there, and
- 29:15Speaker 4: so Blake would come in and we did this all tour.
- 29:18Speaker 4: So I remember Blake coming up and he would do
- 29:22Speaker 4: the song with us every night. So eventually he would
- 29:24Speaker 4: catch on and he would just start jumping, and so
- 29:27Speaker 4: I was like, I was messing with our photographer at
- 29:29Speaker 4: the time. I'm like, hey, you need to catch this
- 29:32Speaker 4: picture or or or it's going to be trouble. We're
- 29:35Speaker 4: gonna have held of it, which was a total joke
- 29:36Speaker 4: and and she and they knew it, and they knew
- 29:39Speaker 4: it and uh and so basically I'm like, you got
- 29:41Speaker 4: to get this picture, Blake and our time, and so
- 29:43Speaker 4: we were actually you see us laughing.
- 29:45Speaker 3: I think maybe you could see it in Blake.
- 29:46Speaker 4: I'm so blind now, but uh, we're actually taking this
- 29:48Speaker 4: picture for ourselves because we're you know, we're laughing about
- 29:52Speaker 4: it with each other and it ended up turning out awesome.
- 29:54Speaker 3: So just you know, it was you got some serious
- 30:00Speaker 3: hey back in the day when my knees were good
- 30:02Speaker 3: for sure, And.
- 30:04Speaker 5: That's what I labeled. Thanks to your time. But I'm
- 30:06Speaker 5: always the pleasure speaking with it.
- 30:07Speaker 6: The album of What Remains is out now, and I've
- 30:10Speaker 6: been a long time hop evil fan, and I can
- 30:11Speaker 6: honestly say it's the best flavor.
- 30:13Speaker 5: Of material I've heard from you guys. Yes, the congratulations,
- 30:16Speaker 5: Thank you for that.
- 30:17Speaker 3: Man. I'm excited.

- 30:20Speaker 4: with you, hopefully on your on your home turf there
- 30:22Speaker 4: in person, and I can't wait for you to hear
- 30:24Speaker 4: these songs.
- 30:25Speaker 3: Love.
