- 0:00[Music] welcome to multiple
- 0:02nerdgasm your destination for all things
- 0:07nerdy so um who's going to start yeah I know I don't really know how to start without
- 0:13Dave normally Dave does the intro but we're uh we're sans's Dave this week
- 0:18that's true but normally we do cut into the podcast after the intro anyway so oh
- 0:23okay the audience might not have even known we might not have even been we
- 0:27might not have even had to mention it yeah and done is draw attention to the
- 0:31fact that Dave's intros get cut out now he's going to know that's true unless we
- 0:35unless we cut out this intro in which case no problem and then we'll have to
- 0:40cut you saying this it's it's the Inception of intros I have to leave a
- 0:44lot of notes for Jenna people might not have even noticed Dave was gone they'd
- 0:47just be listening to the podcast and thinking well this it's not really a
- 0:50voice of negativity this week yeah this week's was very positive no one was
- 0:55picking on Luke and uh and it was a Frank and civil discuss
- 1:00about films games and TV yeah well wait
- 1:05don't don't judge it yet I mean it might let's see how it goes first yeah that's
- 1:09true to be fair I think Dave does provide most of the comedy so this could
- 1:12be incredibly dry yeah
- 1:16sure yeah yeah he he definitely uh Cuts us off when we get too boring true sure
- 1:22but luckily for us uh he doesn't actually listen to the podcast so we can
- 1:25say what we want about him absolutely so there was a big convention on here in
- 1:32Sydney on the weekend there was I was at it I was there as well I saw you there I
- 1:37think I saw you as well yeah I was a little jealous cuz I kept seeing photos
- 1:41being posted and it looked very fun and I wasn't there you should have been
- 1:44jealous Luke yeah it was pretty cool it was good I mean I'm jealous also cuz I
- 1:48missed uh one of the things that I wanted to see at it yeah well thankfully
- 1:51I saw that I mean like I'd like to be able to play this down matt but it was [ __ ]
- 1:56excellent and uh I'm talking about a panel featuring Nicholas
- 2:02Brendan otherwise known as Xander from Buffy and uh I think he's I think that's
- 2:08all he's known as yeah that's right although he did mention he was on some
- 2:11cop show that I'd never heard of either and I was like I'll have to take your word for
- 2:15that just take his word not even I'll look into that it was just all right I
- 2:21believe you I believe you well I don't really watch police procedurals
- 2:26so you know really huh yeah I mean I used to but kind of once you've seen
- 2:32several episodes of any one of them you've kind of seen them all
- 2:38Y and he was joined by uh Emma corfield
- 2:41M uh otherwise known as Ana from the same show before mentioned Buffy also
- 2:48I'm not sure what else she does first thing I noticed about them when they
- 2:50came on stage was uh that they'd gotten really old and then I realized it had
- 2:53been like 20 years since the show yeah so and they weren't spring chickens when
- 2:57they did the show yeah that's true mind you Xander is in incredible shape yeah
- 3:03right and I don't mean that in the you know I I I saw him from I don't know
- 3:08like maybe 10 m at one point when he was hanging about the autograph area and
- 3:13yeah like well that's realistically only as close as I got to him yeah I mean
- 3:16yeah he he looks good he's he's old and he looks like he's graying a bit but
- 3:20yeah he's all right yeah he's got some uh he's a silver fox now but got his
- 3:24buff yeah he is he what about Emma I didn't see her she looks like
- 3:31your mom's friend she's you know she was Luke you
- 3:35didn't tell me this friend of your mom's no it was funny cuz she came on
- 3:41and she's got short sensible haircut and
- 3:45you know practical clothing and she just looks like any other middle-aged
- 3:51woman yeah but if that didn't take away the magic of her character then as soon
- 3:57as she opened her mouth all magic was gone
- 4:01oh really she was [ __ ] boring and she knew nothing about Buffy people were
- 4:06like what's your favorite episode she don't really don't really remember any
- 4:09of them like oh can you say the line from this no don't don't know any more
- 4:13lines I okay I could understand someone not actually knowing that but if you're
- 4:17going to a convention to make money off it yeah yeah if you're going to a
- 4:22convention to talk to people about a show that you did at least try and
- 4:25remember something about the show that you did that they're going to ask you
- 4:28have set answers Man Nicholas Brandon had an answer for everything and he just
- 4:34played into the gig's hands you know what was your favorite episode oh who
- 4:38who could who could tell between the body and hush you know and everyone's
- 4:42[ __ ] cheering and you know he did his little dance and um oh they wanted them
- 4:48of course to sing their duet from Once More with feeling course before he could
- 4:53even answer she piped in with absolutely not and everyone kind of groaned and she
- 4:59was like no look it was a long time time ago I don't know the words I'm not
- 5:04really a singer anyway and Nick's like well I'll I'll do it if you do it and
- 5:08she's like no I'm not going to do it he's like well I'll do it anyway I'll do
- 5:10it regardless then so he he started singing his bit and then like
- 5:14occasionally kind of threw the mic in her Direction encouraging her to jump in
- 5:18which he half-heartedly did occasionally but uh yeah it was pretty
- 5:24one-sided that's a shame yeah but it was fun overall it was
- 5:30hilarious and yeah the most hilarious thing that was said and and I thought it
- 5:36was going to be the most hilarious thing I'd heard all day until we got to the
- 5:39next panel which Matt you can talk about in a moment but um to end this uh
- 5:46somebody had asked Nicholas if he could have picked any
- 5:50story line from the comics of Buffy to actually become an episode and be filmed
- 5:56what would it be and his answer was well seeing how Michelle tratenberg grew up
- 6:01I'd pick one of the sex scenes with her and um nobody could quite believe
- 6:08he'd said that and then Emma looked at him like are you
- 6:11serious and and then he just trailed off with I'd hit that so
- 6:17hard yeah he was serious yeah he was he was 100%
- 6:22serious no he was awesome he was awesome he should be in more stuff yeah I really
- 6:26wish seen him so that's one the main thing that we wanted to see but I yeah
- 6:31we just didn't make it there in time and the parking there was a bit of a debacle
- 6:34that's not interesting though so I won't go on about it but uh well it was in a
- 6:38temporary building yeah that's right it was I mean yeah it's not their fault it
- 6:42to be honest it was pretty great once I got in there the set up it was it was
- 6:46really well uh set up I thought it was very well organized for those of you who
- 6:50don't know the Sydney Convention Center where this kind of stuff normally is um
- 6:53was a really old building by Sydney terms and by that I mean it was built in 1988
- 7:00so so they had to knock it down right so they've knocked that down so there's a
- 7:04big smoldering hole in the ground where that used to be so um they put this
- 7:08temporary building out on this little uh what would you call it it's called Glee
- 7:13Island but it's not an island is it an archipelago what is it a peninsula
- 7:17excuse me it's a peninsula and um but I remember one of the panelists that I saw
- 7:23kept getting confused because the sun kept coming out from behind clouds and
- 7:26it had one of those kind of semi-opaque ceilings and he was really confused why
- 7:30it was getting brighter and brighter right actors they don't understand
- 7:37things like the Sun but uh yeah and like of how they've
- 7:43got like I thought this was odd because we went to go park there and the parking
- 7:47was full and it said go park in darling Harbor which for people who don't know
- 7:51that's not near where it is like no that's on the other side of a large body
- 7:55of water like in the middle of the city it's not convenient yeah exactly and so
- 7:59I was like what the [ __ ] and so so we did and we followed the directions and
- 8:03it said you can catch a fery across uh I was like okay fair enough and they've
- 8:08put the it's called convention Jetty and it's kind of like they've put it near
- 8:13where the convention Setter was the old one just in case you know like like it's
- 8:18this weird thing where people probably go to the old one so we'll put the fery
- 8:22terminal right near it and then just F them all the way
- 8:26around I don't know it's just weird it's just funny just going a big a car that is funny
- 8:32yeah that's right well I don't know if you saw the car park I Matt well yeah it
- 8:38wasn't much of a car park it it was a vacant lot where we put our cars well
- 8:42look they did their best and to be honest I I quite enjoyed the fery ride
- 8:47it was just that it was it took forever and once you were in there it was like
- 8:51well I'm not leaving here like I'm not getting out of this place for at least
- 8:55an hour cuz I've got to wait for the ferry I'm going to get on the ferry and
- 8:57I've got to ride the ferry it's like there was no Quick Escape AP not that it
- 9:01would have been if you had have known that was going to be the case you would
- 9:03have planned for it it would have been yeah I could have just called the I
- 9:06could train or something if i' known that anyway it doesn't matter it wasn't
- 9:09didn't ruin day I could picked you up mat well there you go well anyway but uh
- 9:16so I was disappointed I didn't see that panel but the panel that I did see was
- 9:20fantastic and it made everything worth it because yeah we saw William
- 9:26Shatner the man oh man Captain C
- 9:30and the the old crazy man and I wasn't that I was excited because I love
- 9:35William shanon but I didn't realize how much I really would enjoy it until
- 9:41honestly he walked in and I I went that's Captain Kirk like this is awesome
- 9:47like he was what meters from us I'm like that is Captain we somehow scammed a
- 9:53seat in the third row because they were marching Us in uh and filling from the
- 10:00back forward and I don't know what happened Matt but we we saw your friends
- 10:04who were already sitting in the front row and we just said to the girl oh
- 10:07they're our friends and walked through and sat with them didn't say anything
- 10:10cuz I think they had passes special passes somebody had yeah the the other
- 10:14people around us had like Shanner experience they were sitting on their
- 10:18own as the auditorium was being Filled from the back so they had something
- 10:22special I do think filling from the back is pretty poor considering the people at
- 10:27the front of the line were there first yeah true and some of those people may
- 10:31have been waiting for quite some time well we'd been waiting for quite some
- 10:34time regardless because we were standing where we thought the line was and then
- 10:37we told about 5 minutes before it began oh this is not a line yeah this is just
- 10:41a bunch of people who think this is the line when it's not and we haven't told
- 10:46them that's right and we've been looking at you this whole time going exactly
- 10:50they're just standing there staring at us like oh anyway but yeah he was
- 10:56hilarious and it was kind of like um we've talked before about
- 11:02Christopher Lloyd and how he was kind of old and seemed a bit scen and it was all
- 11:08kind of a bit sad this was y in the same vein as that except he's not kind of the
- 11:15sad without the sadness because he just doesn't care he just wants to talk about
- 11:18what he wants to talk about and and you will listen to him and he was quite
- 11:23honest about at the start he said look I I'll uh I'll hear your questions and
- 11:28then I might answer to them but I will use them as a way of thinking of
- 11:33something to talk about and that's exactly what he did he oh man he took
- 11:38the question and whatever it reminded him of whether it was relevant or not he
- 11:44talked about it there was at one point he started going on and on about his
- 11:49back problemss because he said but then even went so far as to say I spoke to
- 11:55someone in the line for autographs who is a back surgeon and it's is he here
- 12:00somewhere yeah is he in the room and the guy put his hand up and he said oh there
- 12:03he is I'll um and then proceeded to give him list of symptoms yeah and said cuz I
- 12:10he said I ride horses uh do you guys know what whatever the kind of horse
- 12:13riding is and everyone was like no and he's like oh let me explain and he went
- 12:17this thing about this certain kind of horse riding that he does but then just
- 12:21when you think he's going to come back on top he goes where was I oh that's
- 12:25right my back and then goes back so this is not the question yeah this is just
- 12:30okay I that is brilliant because most people ask stupid questions anyway it
- 12:34didn't matter yeah it did not matter it and cuz it was funny anyway and um and
- 12:39because someone asked him about Terror at 20,000 ft or nightmare nightmare at
- 12:4320,000 ft or whatever it is yeah and which he got wrong every time he said it
- 12:48yeah but he kept going on about how and he kept bringing it back up again and
- 12:53you kept I hear you giggling every time he said it the the Czechoslovakian
- 12:57acrobat on the wing yeah cuz he there there was a it was a
- 13:02Czechoslovakian acrobat in a bear suit that was outside on the and every time
- 13:07he said um something on the wing I could hear you have a little cackle as well
- 13:13because like in my wildest fantasies
- 13:17right I would somehow convince Shatner to say there's something on the wig some
- 13:24he just kept saying it he said it about a dozen times you know what I mean like
- 13:29I thought there's no way he's going to say it someone's going to ask him to say
- 13:33it he's going to be like look that was a long time ago you know no he [ __ ] no
- 13:36one asked him to say it yeah and even incidentally kep saying he's like
- 13:40because the premise of the film is there's some thing on the wing yeah but
- 13:44apparently what he loves to do is he loves to when he's flying on a plane
- 13:50press the buzzer to call the stewardess over and then be staring out the window
- 13:54and then when they arrive at his seat and say what what's the problem Mr
- 13:58Shatner he goes there's something on the wing something yeah he said it he cracks
- 14:05his kids up and they always make him do it so good but yeah he was [ __ ]
- 14:12entertaining yeah also about three or four times in after
- 14:18saying um acrobat he kept saying astronaut as well
- 14:24right like his crazy story just kept
- 14:28changing as went yeah yeah but it was kind of like like I said like with
- 14:32Christopher Lloyd it was all a bit sad and like you could tell he was just lost
- 14:36but shaton is just he was happy and he was he was it's kind of like yeah but I
- 14:41think he propositioned that girl in the audience I forget her question yeah the
- 14:45pretty girl yeah he goes you're really pretty and then he said look my back's
- 14:49oh yeah that's right right at the moment but like once I've had the surgery that
- 14:53guy's going to fix I'll be able to I'll be able to perform again yeah you got
- 14:57two children up on stage which was actually ended up being kind of adorable
- 15:01and hilarious yeah but see Emma corfield did that too right but in a really
- 15:07creepy way see Shatner gets up this little like what was he 5 years old
- 15:13right adorable kid loves Star Trek who gets up and he goes do you have a question
- 15:18for me little boy the kid takes the mic wanders off and just starts spouting his
- 15:23own dietr and it was hilarious then get then the kid calls his own sister up she
- 15:27comes up and starts saying her own CU she was dressed as a red shirt like a
- 15:33like an officer yeah like they both they're both dressed as like I think he
- 15:37was dressed as um Kirk in his lounging outfit from from the show K on his day
- 15:43off yeah the one the one that he Woos all the blue green skinn ladies in and
- 15:47she was dressed as a red shirt it was adorable yeah but Emma
- 15:51corfield is doing her speech then she sees someone in the front row and goes
- 15:55oh do you want to do you want to come up on stage little boy and I'm expecting
- 16:00something cute like like Shatner would later produce but um then this
- 16:0413-year-old kid gets up this kind of lanky awkward looking teenager who
- 16:10shrugs at the audience like I don't know what's going on um wanders over to her
- 16:15and she like Pats her knee to like COA him to sit on her lap and um um and then
- 16:21it's just this really awkward she answers the next few questions with this
- 16:24dude sitting on her lap and then um I wonder if she's like Andy cman and it
- 16:30was all like this is all just hilarious to her this I don't remember I remember
- 16:34how the song goes was this kid dressed as anything or that's the thing he
- 16:38wasn't handicapped he wasn't in costume he wasn't young he was just a dude I
- 16:44really don't understand but good for him good for him yeah you got to sit next to
- 16:51my mom's friend got you got to sit on her right on on right on yeah
- 16:57weird but yeah it was a good day it was a good
- 17:01day I'm upset I missed it but I really I inan camera and I didn't hear anything
- 17:06about it except for you guys telling me about it I actually hadn't heard too
- 17:10much about it um II Jenna reminded me that it was on and we yeah Jenna
- 17:15reminded us yeah ex well that's I just I think someone on Facebook posted about
- 17:19it that's how she saw it like it wasn't uh it wasn't like Supernova but I think
- 17:24maybe Supernova we only know of because we go every year I don't know that
- 17:28Supernova gets that much either does it and if you're listening and you're in
- 17:32America and you're imagining San Diego com it's not it is not that it's
- 17:37basically just Supernova with slightly I don't know slightly better
- 17:43organized yeah it's like uh a it's like imagine half of the show floor it's
- 17:50something like packs and that's it that's what it is and then there's a
- 17:53spot where people can talk to fans do you remember when that got gu in
- 17:59the suit got up to ask Shatner a question and Shatner recognized him and
- 18:05went oh I know you and um I've read your book and I can't wait for your question
- 18:11because it's you're an intelligent thought-provoking man and uh he actually
- 18:16sat down on the chair and said I want I want to really listen to your question
- 18:19and then the question was have you ever have you ever met Jeffrey Hunter's wife
- 18:24that's right and Jeffrey Hunter being the guy who played Kirk in the pilot he
- 18:29didn't say he said Jeffrey Archer and then and then he corrected him oh I think you
- 18:35mean Jeffrey Hunter that's true
- 18:40yeah which was great and he was like um yeah I
- 18:46have yeah no didn't he say that he hadn't yeah perhaps I think that the the
- 18:51the actual answer was no I don't know I don't know what you're talking about
- 18:55ones where it didn't even go on a tangent it just kind of he explained to
- 19:00the audience what the [ __ ] question was like he told why did people ask questions like
- 19:06that yeah well the actually my favorite was the um the the man dressed as um
- 19:13kind of random random Beetle random be yeah I think he was a specific beetle in
- 19:19a in a terrible accent asking him if you could collaborate with any musician who
- 19:22would it be oh yeah and then he went in this huge story about the one time he
- 19:28got to play with um sorry the two times he got to play with uh for McCartney but
- 19:32he kept calling him George he said it was a George George George no wait
- 19:36John's dead is it George The Beatles are still alive alive that guy but then just
- 19:41told this story about that without actually saying Paul mney Paul McCartney
- 19:46yeah because he did um oh yeah told the story about lucing the Sky with Diamonds
- 19:50and how how it's LSD and how actually that was a pretty great story and I
- 19:54wanted to look up that performance about how he went on Johnny Carson and they
- 19:57wouldn't let him do the um the book reading and the song and the book
- 20:02reading kind of explained what the [ __ ] he was on about with the song um because
- 20:06during the song he was he was in character as a drug addict singing Ling
- 20:12the Sky with Diamonds and so he ended up on television just performing the song
- 20:16pretending to be a drug addict as like and it was so everyone just thought he
- 20:21did a terrible job of the song yeah and then uh and that's that's what ended up
- 20:26going on television like I think that's a great story actually yeah I wonder why
- 20:30that's no cuz the men's had several subsequent albums and maybe they're all
- 20:35spoken word because of that cautionary tail exactly I want to look up that
- 20:40performance so if if I find it I'll put it in uh the show notes if it's
- 20:45interesting we we should have asked him to to do a bit of uh Rocket Man oh we should
- 20:50have I wanted to ask him about Columbo said that I wanted to ask him
- 20:55that's question go on he was on Columbo twice as completely different murderers two
- 21:01different murderers and I wanted to ask him if he thought anybody was
- 21:05fooled think he he was a different person and he was
- 21:11in episodes of Twilight Zone and Alfred Hitchcock Presents which are very
- 21:16similar shows as well right although not two different characters on the same
- 21:20show I mean in his defense he's he's been in everything so true yeah nobody
- 21:25asked him about was it TJ hooker right yeah oh I bet that kills him no
- 21:31one asks him about it yeah he was on it for like 10 years like the whole 80s
- 21:36that's what he was doing should we should have asked him
- 21:39about that Telly movie he did with uh Cil sheeper where he played a husband I
- 21:45think it's called Confessions of a married man have either of you seen this
- 21:47I don't think so no I've seen it like no no joke like three or four times just
- 21:52over the course of my entire life anytime it's like a Friday afternoon I
- 21:57just happen to be flicking three channels this movie's been on and it's
- 22:02about this married guy whose wife won't sleep with him so he starts going to
- 22:06prostitutes right and um but then he falls in love with one prostitute who's
- 22:10played by Cil Shephard and um but then she starts extorting him for money and
- 22:15stuff right it's not it's not a comedy
- 22:17it's like a it's like a solid
- 22:24drama well yeah Billy Shatner B sh
- 22:34[Music] [ __ ] well some news this week on the um
- 22:40y oldi murder front or some some
- 22:43apparent news um a gentleman claims that
- 22:48through DNA testing he has revealed the identity of Jack the
- 22:54Ripper after what 200 years 200 years is been 200
- 23:00yet it's been a while 126 years6 yeah so
- 23:05um yeah this guy claims but there's there's no statute of limitations on
- 23:09murder as we know so that guy could still go to prison yeah exactly so why
- 23:12don't you why don't you take us through the details well I'll start off by
- 23:16saying if it sounds a bit dodgy it
- 23:20is heavily debated yes so what's
- 23:24happened this gentleman purchased at an auction
- 23:29uh a Shaw like a a you know kind of
- 23:32ladyes scarf kind of deal that allegedly
- 23:37was taken from the crime scene of one of
- 23:41the Rippers victims um Katherine edos um police officer allegedly took it
- 23:48from the scene because back then they just didn't give a [ __ ] um and he
- 23:51thought it would be nice for his wife so he took this blood soaked oh took it off
- 23:55a dead prostitute oh I've got this for you love so it's covered in blood and
- 23:59seam and just wash that off so he takes his because the well we'll get to that
- 24:03but yeah it's it's covered in fluids of also I'll just also say there was
- 24:08detailed listings of items found at each of the crime seas and that wasn't
- 24:12mentioned in any no that's cuz he took it well no fair call Fair call but yeah
- 24:17so this um this fluid soaked rag we'll say blood soaked because never yeah took
- 24:23took it home to his wife and said there you go what do you think of that and she
- 24:26went that's disgusting get it the [ __ ] away from for me and uh presumably put
- 24:30it in the attic for for 100 years uh and
- 24:34it got passed between various um
- 24:38Ripper um enthusiasts with no one wanting to wash it apparently not and in
- 24:44fact in fact the Seaman stains increasing over time yeah and uh and
- 24:50then so this guy bought it an auction and uh I think through through a friend
- 24:55of his managed to get some DNA tests running it and they found uh
- 25:00Seaman belonging to a gentleman called Aaron
- 25:06kosminski uh who was a hairdresser well he sounds foreign so it's probably him
- 25:11yeah exactly and uh a Polish Polish immigrant sorry fact checking myself
- 25:18there um and so they're saying well that was him then
- 25:24proof I'll say this though right every
- 25:28it it's so boring it's probably true like I know there's no evidence but
- 25:34here's the thing like everyone's like who's Jack the Ripper is it the Earl of
- 25:37Oxford is it this other really famous guy is it the queen it's probably not
- 25:42it's probably just some deranged psychopath [ __ ] hairdresser it's
- 25:45either yeah it's one of these guys here the Sho maker The Barber or the
- 25:48hairdresser one of them yeah but it yeah
- 25:52the the science behind it is not that great I mean they this things been
- 25:58passed down for like you know 100 years between all these different people who
- 26:04handled it without gloves like he's the a another scientist who I think the guy
- 26:09who invented DNA profiling um commented and said it's already pointed out it's
- 26:13not a good sample no because you can see him in the photographs holding it like
- 26:19yeah he look at this article here which will be in the show notes and he's
- 26:22holding it with his fingers which you know if you want to get an accurate DNA
- 26:28not only that Matt not only that we're assuming though that that's
- 26:34even like go back to just the fact that there's Sean on a Shaw that was found at
- 26:41the house of a prostitute that's not really a stretch and it's certainly not
- 26:46proof of murder unless this prostitute was a novice who was murdered on her
- 26:53first day well what and the other thing the scientists saying is that like we
- 26:57know for for a fact that potentially hundreds of people have handled this
- 27:01since since it was allegedly taken from the crime scene like there's no evidence
- 27:06to suggest that it was because it's ridiculous who would take that home and
- 27:10give it to their to their wife like a blood and seman soaked rag from a crime
- 27:15scene oh this I thought this you haven't look you haven't been married yet Matt
- 27:18but when you are you'll you'll understand but not only that yeah he
- 27:24said like so many oh my God sorry I'm just I've just clicked on the link Matt
- 27:28and there's actually an old a year oldy engraving of the policeman reaching for
- 27:33the I know a contemporary engraving of a jack the rer crime scene that that's
- 27:39terrific pinching it but yeah and this guyy is saying that so many people have
- 27:43handled it that it's um uh highly likely that somebody with
- 27:48the same mitochondrial DNA which is what they they identified touched it because
- 27:54his ancestors would have been amongst the people interested you know what I
- 27:57mean like people who are related to him have touched it we're pretty sure also
- 28:04he might have touched it it doesn't make him a murderer that's true as well like
- 28:08even if all the evidence is true and the DNA does Point straight to this guy and
- 28:13this really was a Shaw and it really was in This Woman's house it doesn't mean
- 28:18that this guy's the murderer just looked at the top comment on this article and
- 28:23it says Poland did not exist in the time of Jack the Ripper you guys need a history lesson
- 28:31I'll say this just looking at the six Prime suspects though and they've got
- 28:34photos of them all I meanu down there on the bottom left I was about to say
- 28:40kosminsky looks like kind of maybe
- 28:43chaotic good but my money's on John
- 28:47piser the shoe maker who looks like a
- 28:51[ __ ] Maniac he looks like a resut he
- 28:55does he does in [ __ ] it might be he was still kicking around at that
- 28:59point wasn't he for all we know he's still kicking around yeah exactly yeah
- 29:03and I love how George Chapman Barber has the best that he's a Jew I don't want to
- 29:07get [ __ ] letters in saying oh Dan picked the [Laughter]
- 29:12Jew I like I love the photo of him pointing to the part of the shaw where
- 29:16the DNA was found and he's it's like his little pinky pointing at the seamen
- 29:20stain oh yeah little seamen stain on there yeah he gave that to his wife oh
- 29:23God it's more than a little stain too she love that little little jzy sorry
- 29:29have you have you given me a cumrag a lot of [ __ ] anyway but obviously but
- 29:35there literally there's an engraving oh yeah contemporary engraving like we
- 29:40still do Engravings of two Bobbies standing over the the dead body and one
- 29:45of them's reaching for the shore like like somebody who was there decided that
- 29:51to capture that moment brilliant now you've been to
- 29:55White trouble haven't you I have I did a tour of all the location
- 29:59yeah right how was that five wasn't there yeah
- 30:03yeah two on one night you learn anything uh I learned that all of the places
- 30:08don't exist anymore like um yeah you know the hotel room where they found
- 30:12Mary Kelly is you know the most gruesome of the murders she was like FL yeah
- 30:19basically um that's just an apartment building now so none of that none of
- 30:22that stuff is there so it's I mean it's interesting um something's got to be a
- 30:26Starbucks yeah and I saw the the place where they um you know where he wrote um
- 30:32the Jews are them that will not be blamed for nothing on the wall yeah
- 30:36whatever the [ __ ] that's supposed to mean uh he wrote down the wall and they
- 30:39misspelled Jews y yeah yeah j e Wes wasn't it spilled no that's correct oh
- 30:46he spilled it with a U or something I can't remember yeah I think I think it's
- 30:49j or something yeah yeah well that's a convenience store now but that's I mean
- 30:53it's still there and they they said that you know that's that's right where it
- 30:56was but it's it's not um it's cool but it's not like you're looking at the spot
- 31:01or anything like that it doesn't feel like you're there cuz it's just not the
- 31:05same city now oh and I went to the um I had a beer in the um the pub uh's it
- 31:10called the the 10 Bells where the girls drank um the you know all of the I think
- 31:15it's called The Knife and hooker yeah the the the kidney and and
- 31:20in my pocket with the kidney um oh yeah that's another thing apparently uh I
- 31:24read recently uh an article that said they think actually that there weren't
- 31:30organs taken by the Ripper they were misplaced due to negligence um during
- 31:35autopsies and whatnot um but one of the um one of the pieces of evidence they
- 31:41mention in this article is that they found a kidney cell and one of um this
- 31:47woman um uh forgot her name edos um her kidney
- 31:53was missing but now I'm like well that's that didn't they just say that the
- 31:59police lost that so I don't know you know what we're never going to know Arin somewhere
- 32:05there's probably a ye oldy engraving of a of a old timey copper eating a kidney
- 32:10right and then wiping his mouth with this bloody Seaman stoked Seaman soaked
- 32:17Shaw that's a tongue twister say Seaman Sean soaked Shaw soaked and it will can
- 32:23that be the name of this episode or it not let us put that up we can put fluid
- 32:28soaked rag or something like that it's it's just as it's just as
- 32:33awful um it'll surprise nobody to know to learn that this man has a book coming
- 32:40out to with all his um his supporting
- 32:43evidence so uh you know buy that I guess
- 32:47or don't don't because it's it's it's nonsense I'm pretty sure it's a pretty
- 32:52much everything he said is on the internet for free yeah and B don't don't
- 32:57get it no and uh and the last sentence here which I like cuz this is the Daily
- 33:01Mail obviously like he couldn't get a uh this is the world exclusive the world
- 33:08exclusive of this was on The Daily Mail so that tell that should tell you
- 33:11something actually that that brings me up to a a really quick little Rat Hole
- 33:16sure would you mind of course not go for it I'd like to just um I'm addressing
- 33:20our listeners directly now okay so
- 33:26people uh you know it's it's 9:30 a.m. you've got your coffee you've arrived at
- 33:31work you're sitting down and you're logging into Facebook
- 33:35right someone's put up an article that's just [ __ ] blown your mind about
- 33:41something that is just astounding M before you post that on your Facebook
- 33:47wall with oh my God this changes everything do a quick Google search to
- 33:53see if that's a real article because
- 33:58if it's too good to be true or just doesn't seem like it could possibly be
- 34:03real it's probably not Y and I would like to stop I I would
- 34:09like to declutter my [ __ ] Facebook live feed from all these fake articles
- 34:15with real comments on them yeah like the onion that the Onion articles and things
- 34:20like that yeah stop posting onion videos with disgusted comments you I one thing
- 34:26I there's a few things pissing me off lately one of them I haven't mentioned
- 34:31this to you to you guys yet this is a new segment called Umbridge go
- 34:35on all right we can talk about the ones that I've already winged to you about on
- 34:38email today if you want that's fine too all right well this is this is different
- 34:42[ __ ] articles where the uh on Facebook and and anywhere where the
- 34:46headline is he tried to open the door with a banana and when you find out why
- 34:50you'll burst into tears [ __ ] off yeah
- 34:55like Matt what you should do right now right is go to Twitter right and follow
- 35:00a guy called saved you a click okay and what he does is he goes through all
- 35:07those clickbait articles and gives you the answer see like for example the
- 35:12latest one is called so he'll put the headline and then the answer so the the
- 35:16one that I read today was the headline is why no one will be lining up for the
- 35:20eyewatch and he's just put the answer it's not called the
- 35:25eyat you know what I mean and he just [ __ ] cut I like this one why you
- 35:29two's surprise new album won't appear on the Billboard charts because Apple
- 35:32bought it for you yeah exactly yeah which is another thing that pisses me
- 35:38off actually that's a good segue right are we going to talk about you too
- 35:41people well I don't want to talk about you too I want to talk about people
- 35:44complaining that they get this album for free like oh I didn't ask for it I don't
- 35:48[ __ ] off right don't listen to it I don't like you to either and not
- 35:52listening to them works just fine like don't listen and do you know how much
- 35:56free content falls into into your lap every day on the internet that you just
- 35:59ignore ignore this to yeah like to the like I didn't even realize that had been
- 36:03a thing until you brought it up and then I checked my iPhone and sure enough
- 36:07there's a YouTu album that I didn't think I had people were complaining oh I
- 36:10didn't ask for that shut up like who cares if for once you actually got
- 36:17something for free yeah just accept it if you don't want it who cares I don't
- 36:21seem to be able to delete it though I'll say that well it gets added to your
- 36:25Cloud Library right it's it's a minor in venience are best though isn't it come
- 36:29on like it's a free [ __ ] album whether you like it or not don't and
- 36:33really how often do you get down to you when you're looking at an arti exactly
- 36:38yeah I I only do because half the time I try to start from the
- 36:42bottom ah it's it's the L's and M's and n's that never that I never get to
- 36:47because I start at one end or the other and the one other thing I wanted to talk
- 36:50about that's been bugging me lately is all the um the trigger warnings that are
- 36:55at the start of every article that's about something remotely sensitive where
- 37:00apparently they're worried that somebody who has been affected by whatever the
- 37:04article is about be it murder or rape or abuse or whatever is going to you know
- 37:09be trauma triggered and have some kind of horrible flashback um based on the
- 37:14content of the article and yeah that's hor I don't think that's how trauma
- 37:17flashbacks no I'm pretty sure a trauma like they can be triggered by anything
- 37:22like a smell or an object or a sound like a song that was playing when a man
- 37:26was beating you to death like like you can't just put a [ __ ] warning on
- 37:30everything if you're going to put it on it's just silly but the thing the thing
- 37:33I find weird about that one is people know what they're clicking on when
- 37:36they're clicking on the article you would think so so there would be a title
- 37:38that would be leading them somewhere and yeah reading about that isn't likely to
- 37:44trigger somebody I'm sure I've read something about that like that's not how
- 37:49it works it's it's the little things you know it's tiny things like people go oh
- 37:54okay you know a smell of gasoline always brings me back to that because he raped
- 37:58me in the back of a petrol station things like that it's not literally
- 38:01articles on the internet about rape take me right back there exactly so I don't
- 38:05know I mean it doesn't it doesn't matter it's just when I see them I kind of go
- 38:09ah do we are we are we doing this are we pandering to this I'm a bit I'm I'm a
- 38:14bit iffy on that though on what
- 38:17sorry I I don't know I'm just it's it could still reading about it could
- 38:23actually still affect some do we have to do that for everything then well no but
- 38:28I guess Playing devil's advocate people do talk about touchy subjects with a
- 38:34complete lack of decorum on the internet yeah that's true I
- 38:39suppose uh so maybe maybe that's valid to a point but
- 38:45I do tend to agree that it's kind of political correctness if it's well if
- 38:48it's a news article about a murder and you've escaped narrowly escaped a murder
- 38:53and you're having posttraumatic stress stress syndrome you know post the PTSD
- 38:58PTSD don't read articles about murders it's as simple as that you would
- 39:05think I don't know yeah I don't know I mean like I said it
- 39:09doesn't affect me it's just I see it and I kind of go ah do we have to do that
- 39:14that seems look speaking of stuff on the internet are we going to talk about
- 39:19katus as boobs I guess we are okay I'm confused what's happening with Katniss's
- 39:24boobs what have You' been living in a cave who's Kus Katniss is Jennifer
- 39:30Lawrence okay you know about that and yes boobs are the uh the memmory glands
- 39:36attached to the chest of female mammals if you want to see them just search for
- 39:42Jennifer Lawrence you'll find them if you want to see some no look
- 39:48we're just a disclaimer here we're not we're not condoning no of course not the
- 39:51hacking of people's uh private photos AB but no I I did think it was worth
- 39:56mentioning just because this phenomenon that was as Reddit as dubbed
- 40:03it the fppening MH um is it's just one of those things that just
- 40:09exploded H bad words um that that was
- 40:15literally all anybody could talk about for about 48 hours and
- 40:20then instantly forgot yeah quietly went away I thought the um the most
- 40:26interesting thing about it to me was that it wasn't like her account got
- 40:31hacked and then these pictures got posted or even that all of these
- 40:35people's accounts were hacked and then they all got posted no people have had
- 40:38these photos for years and there is a
- 40:43sub kind of sub internet um community
- 40:46that trades them and to to join you have
- 40:50to collect some celebrities nudes and then you can kind of be led into the
- 40:55club and they don't sell them or anything it's like the mafia you got to
- 40:58kill someone to get in yeah and then uh apparently what's happened is somebody
- 41:03has managed to get in there found all this stuff and and tried to sell it and
- 41:09um and that's why all of these because um Mary Elizabeth winsteads was was
- 41:14talking about how the photos of her that were turned up were deleted years ago
- 41:20and um and people and she she at the time tweeted I think something about
- 41:24discusting the lengths they must have gone to to recover those well they
- 41:27didn't they got them back when you and just have had them since then and I
- 41:31think that is kind of terrifying epy that is disturbing that that's that's
- 41:37well here's the thing because the guy who leaked them
- 41:40obviously got himself into that group uh and then you know it just went to his
- 41:46head and he thought I'm just going to exploit this for my own
- 41:49benefit uh but I would assume that putting a bunch of them on the Internet
- 41:54for free and then threatening that he has more that he'll uh sell to the
- 42:00highest bidder I mean is that a solid business
- 42:04model no because what actually happened was all the other people that had them
- 42:09said we we've got them too we'll give you them for less and then it was a race
- 42:12to the bottom and uh I think apparently yeah like I obviously news people
- 42:18weren't going to pay for them cuz it's not like they can't because because
- 42:22that's what it's illegal for yeah somebody was saying you know like people
- 42:25they'll pay $40,000 for a photo of Jennifer Lawrence kissing her boyfriend
- 42:29at a at an event so they can put in a magazine but if you hack her phone and
- 42:34take pictures of her off there they're not going to touch them yeah because that's
- 42:41illegal yeah so all these other ones they were going to be making money it
- 42:45was going to be making money from just anyone they're not going to be paying
- 42:49big money for it that's right like TMZ is not going to put up nude pictures of these
- 42:54celebrities no although I did think it was funny that TMZ specifically and and
- 42:59all those other guys as well um all these news sites put up censored
- 43:04versions of the pictures on the first day with headlines like look what's been
- 43:09leaked online Y and then pull them all down when the internet turned on yeah
- 43:15and the next day all the headlines were like oh isn't it awful that these have
- 43:19been put online and you know isn't it awful even that
- 43:24new sites have been encouraging them by put putting the pictures in their
- 43:28articles it is interesting that that it went that way cuz often you know when
- 43:34photos of people leak it doesn't it's not you know kind of shamed as much as
- 43:38this was like this was pretty pretty widely condemned yeah they copped it
- 43:42pretty quick and I think it's because
- 43:48like uh Jennifer Lawrence like she's just she's just not a [ __ ] do you know
- 43:53what I mean like she's not it's like it's not she's not Pamela Anderson like
- 43:57and you know no judgment but like like if you want to see her
- 44:03boobs I mean she's she's naked and painted blue in the X-Men movies right
- 44:07right do you know what I mean like she she she works out and takes care of
- 44:10herself she's got a great body but like she she's just not sexualized and this
- 44:17unnecessarily sexualizes her and that kind of put everyone off a little bit
- 44:21yeah yeah I know what you mean it's not like they're in Playboy or anything it's
- 44:25kind of like yeah exactly yeah yeah was a bit
- 44:30uncomfortable yeah yeah it was like well and I was going to say it was like
- 44:34watching just a private moment but it was watching a [ __ ] private moment
- 44:37right yeah yeah and then then people were saying well if you're a celebrity
- 44:41you shouldn't shouldn't be uploading your photos and uh well they don't
- 44:46necessarily do that because [ __ ] iPhones do that automatically if you've
- 44:50got your settings wrong and and she wasn't holding the
- 44:53camera so maybe maybe there's a a very good maybe there's another lesson to be
- 44:58learned there as well yeah don't let other people take photos of you if you're a
- 45:04celebrity looked fantastic Luke are you googling those
- 45:10now no I'm not L Luke I'll Google them later speaking of
- 45:17iPhones uploading things there's a new iPhone coming out
- 45:22there is and what are they up to now six and uh it's the
- 45:27of a small truck they've dropped they've [ __ ] lost it like like honestly I was
- 45:34concerned with the iPhone 5 and I adjusted to the extra
- 45:39height but this one's even bigger what the [ __ ] are they doing it's it's about
- 45:45the size maybe a bit bigger than the Nexus 4 which is the phone I had and I
- 45:49mean I'm okay with that size but it is is big and I that's it's literally not
- 45:53going to fit in my pocket well that's the iPhone 6 there's also the iPhone 6
- 45:57plus which is even bigger like is that like the Samsung thing yeah it's kind of
- 46:03like that like a mini ta cuz they um CU they
- 46:09here's the thing like they just didn't sell it to any you know like there was
- 46:13it's just it all just came across as well the other other companies have
- 46:17these big phones so I guess we got to do big phones now it's kind of it's
- 46:21complete opposite of what they were doing when when they had Steve
- 46:25Jobs like
- 47:27yeah I had one of those I know wasn't that when they were starting
- 47:31to fail that's when he came back when he pulled them out of Lally resurrected
- 47:37them yeah when they wanted a a cheap easy to use computer they could get on
- 47:44the internet speaking of Resurrection we have a Kickstarter that is very relevant
- 47:50to this discussion that's true let's discuss that and then I have one more point
- 47:55about the iPhone okay all right so all right well very quickly then uh we have
- 48:00a Kickstarter no take your time okay well we have a Kickstarter uh I mean I'd
- 48:05like to I'd like to ask Steve Jobs what he thinks of uh of the iPhone 6 the
- 48:09iPhone 6 Plus and the Apple watch so um couldn't have come at a better time M um
- 48:15and you can actually do that if you were to um pay $20 for a kickstar Matt that's
- 48:20right well I don't I don't think I have to pay $20 invest invest $20 yeah invest
- 48:26so because it an investment we decided that there are so many questions yet to
- 48:30be asked of Steve that we just going to have to summon him and um and ask him so
- 48:37we're going to raise some money get a Ouija board and some camera equipment
- 48:41and some lights and stuff and ask Steve's ghost a bunch of
- 48:47questions um and if you think that's worthwhile and I'm assuming you do
- 48:52because you're not an idiot uh you can head on over to our Kickstarter and get
- 48:56involved so we've got obviously a bunch of different reward tiers if you want to
- 49:01submit a qu question uh any question we will ask the ghost of Steve Jobs your
- 49:05question no matter what it is because we don't care um and yeah our filters are
- 49:12broken so just ask what you want yeah and uh challenges Y and we've got some
- 49:18T-shirts and hoodies and uh and some other stuff on there if that interests
- 49:22you you can ask a question and get a t-shirt or ask a question and get a
- 49:25hoodie or whatever whatever you like I think the really good one is if you pay
- 49:29as $500 you can come and be on the set right you can yeah because our goal is
- 49:33$500 because we're not we're not trying to be greedy we just think this would be
- 49:36a fun thing to do and we're trying to we just want to do it and we want to do a
- 49:39good job of it and we haven't even budget it for lunch on the day no that's
- 49:43right we're just going to use the money we used to hire some gear and um to get
- 49:46some some artwork and and titles and stuff done for make it just make it a
- 49:49good quality video which which will be made available on
- 49:53YouTube uh simple as that yeah and so it's it's going to be fun and you know
- 49:58there's always a chance look if you don't think that the that communicating
- 50:01with the ghost of Steve Jobs is worth 20 yeah exactly [ __ ] off and I don't
- 50:07want you listening to this podcast you don't even have you don't have to put in
- 50:0920 you can put in as much as you want you can put in a dollar for all for all
- 50:13week here every every dollar comp [ __ ] off a dollar if you put in a dollar
- 50:18every dollar counts cents don't count dollars count every group every group of
- 50:2310 or more dollars counts let's say that fine fine but uh yeah I think what's the um well
- 50:30for $5 their name will appear That's yeah $5 gets your name in the credits
- 50:33come on $5 for this this
- 50:37[ __ ] momentous occasion I just I'm actually shocked by how much money we've
- 50:42raised already I just loaded up I just loaded up the page and I was like oh wow
- 50:47we're we're $160 nice in uh of our $500 gold we got
- 50:5225 days to go I reckon we can make it I re re we're fine uh but we need your
- 50:58help yes we do so I'm still talking to you listener that's right all of you and
- 51:04you can be sitting there with your headphones go it's not me it's not I am
- 51:08talking to you yes yes you even if you just just head over to the kickstarter
- 51:13and check out the [ __ ] awesome artwork that Simon cole has done for us
- 51:18like just he justes even that you he deserves your your eyeballs on his
- 51:23wonderful artwork yeah give Simon your
- 51:27balls give Simon your balls he will look after them and then give us money cuz we
- 51:33can use that money to pay him yeah that's not in the budget though
- 51:37either yeah oh there is a little bit of money for him in there oh well he
- 51:42deserves it yeah he does because he's done lots of stuff for us for no money
- 51:46yeah yeah we should pay at least once so yeah thanks Simon you're a champ
- 51:51y so I summon the Simon is The Unofficial fifth member of this podcast
- 51:57is so I summon the best way to speak to the ghost of Steve
- 52:03Jobs if you are going to speak to the ghost of Steve Jobs anyway this might
- 52:09even save you some money that's right because well we haven't mentioned this
- 52:14yet because I mean once we as we approach the goal we're going to reveal
- 52:18uh the stretch goals which we have which yeah if we do happen to make over our
- 52:22Bud important stretch goals we have some we have some good stretch goals so I
- 52:25mean I don't want to say too much um because you know we'll see how we go and
- 52:29and we'll kind of reveal those later on but we are investigating um getting some
- 52:36paranormal uh people involved like uh Clairvoyant and um possibly some people
- 52:43to come and you know channel the spirit of Steve Jobs rather than using a Ouija
- 52:48board we've got there's lots many things we could do it all depends on uh what
- 52:52you the listeners want so
- 52:57yeah and obviously we'll ask him about the iPhone 6 and uh and the Apple watch
- 53:03as well yeah uh see what he thinks of that can tell you already he's not
- 53:09impressed and whether the Apple Macintosh was named after an episode of
- 53:13get smart which is the original question that started this whole thing yeah which
- 53:17if there's time we'll ask him [Laughter]
- 53:21[Music]
- 53:24yeah Destiny came out and I got it uh and I have played a little bit but I
- 53:30actually haven't played past the point I got up to in the beta so I finished it
- 53:36that doesn't surprise me I was goingon to say I don't have a whole lot to say
- 53:38but I guess you do so uh is there an end isn't an an
- 53:43MMO I finished I believe I finished the main story how long did it take you to
- 53:48do that um not long at all um maybe 6 8
- 53:54hours um I have no idea what the story is no idea what's happen maybe you haven't
- 53:59finished it then L well but there's nothing else to do now it's just going
- 54:05missions yeah but that's to get better gear 20 bear claws I think uh yeah
- 54:09exactly well the story line is that there was uh we found that big what's it
- 54:15called the guardian or whatever on Mars and uh accelerated
- 54:21our um expansion into space you know Mass Effect style and then we met up
- 54:26with these other races and then we expanded and it was a golden age and
- 54:29then the darkness came and [ __ ] everything up and now the only remaining
- 54:33City that's safe is um is on Earth and that's the city that's in the game and
- 54:39then you can go you start out in Russia and expand from there and I think the
- 54:44story is stop the darkness you walk around and shoot
- 54:50people and then you get gear and then you walk around and shoot people and
- 54:53then you get new gear and then you walk around and shoot people that's every
- 54:56game yeah that's right I A lot of people are complaining about that but that what did you
- 55:00expect I mean I don't know I a lot more
- 55:04thumbs down thumbs down me okay yeah I mean I'm still enjoying it but I've like
- 55:09I said I'm I'm haven't gotten past the point I got up to in the beta
- 55:14yet I know I just I was looking for because Bungie theyve like with Halo
- 55:18they made a it was a great story great Universe they created and hopefully
- 55:22they've got a lot more plannned because because I'm the opposite I played
- 55:25through Halo 1 two and three I couldn't tell you what the storyline
- 55:29was was stupid John Halo going about his day yeah like I I none of that I didn't
- 55:35retain any of that it just all was I don't know I quite honestly didn't even
- 55:40know Halo had a story I thought it was just shooting no no I actually quite like the
- 55:46story in Halo especially like ODST and Halo Reach Destiny I just I I think it
- 55:52is because I don't like MMOs yeah well it's not really an MMO oh you just don't
- 55:55like the fact there's other people there is that well no other people aren't
- 56:00bothering me at all cuz I'm not playing with them but it's just it's like real
- 56:05life it's designed to be an MMO where you are playing with people and you oh I
- 56:10know you well maybe that's why you're not getting the most out of the game
- 56:13it's because you're not playing it like it's designed to be played yeah i' play
- 56:17it the way I would yeah did you have you been in any have you did you join in any
- 56:21of the um public events and all that kind of stuff while you yeah yeah I
- 56:25thought I found that was fun yeah I've done a few of them they were cool
- 56:28just sounds like too much effort to me one of the valid complaints I've heard
- 56:33is what my complaints on no no that's not what I was saying what I mean I I
- 56:38read this in an article today and I was like oh okay yeah that's that's fair um
- 56:42games like Halo where they they are single player or you know like Co-op um
- 56:47the enemies are placed very carefully so that the combat is strategic and and
- 56:53interesting whereas in a game like Destiny where it is kind of massively
- 56:57multiplayer the enemies respawn and so
- 57:00the combat is very simplified because of that like it's not like they can't be as
- 57:07clever as as they normally would you know like in in Halo you can run around
- 57:11a corner and have an ambush that's kind of scripted a bit and set up and it and
- 57:16it's kind of a bit more interesting whereas in this you know you could
- 57:21actually walk around a corner and sometimes there might be aliens there or
- 57:24Monsters but someone else may have so it's it's just all a bit
- 57:28less yeah less clever in that sense than people were expecting from Bungie but
- 57:33then again that's not their fault that's just the nature of the game like that's
- 57:37well it is their fault well it's their fault in that they chose to make a
- 57:40massively multiplayer online game yes like the game not was good but
- 57:46it's not it's not up to it's not up to them to make a good game no
- 57:50exactly well I haven't played it at all needless to say and I'm probably not
- 57:54going digl is digl gives you some hints on how to play and there's a lot of all
- 57:59right I'll give him a ring there there's a lot there's a lot of uh can wait P
- 58:04Dinklage does a voice in it yeah he's the voice of your little AI companion
- 58:08then let oh okay he's an AI yeah okay that answers my question you don't get
- 58:14to see him you want I was going to ask I was going to ask if he voices small
- 58:17character or a you know a fully sized character no he doesn't but he doesn't
- 58:24they they they scoot it around that yeah that sensitive issue yeah
- 58:31um I I I was a bit bored this week and I I wanted to play something and I was I
- 58:35was at JB High fight and I saw cuz you guys know that I just really love the
- 58:40Hitman Series right like cuz I you have to play it slow and calculated and
- 58:46stealthily and that's how I play games anyway so I really love Hitman and then
- 58:50I noticed that there was a um a pack with kind of the the original Hitman
- 58:55game um kind of redone in HD and I picked
- 59:01that up and I couldn't wait to play it and then I I play a few retro games
- 59:07right and some really old and I find them really enjoyable but it's easier to
- 59:10play a game that's 20 years old than a game that's five or six years old do you
- 59:16know what I mean like I had to stop playing these and I'm I'm actually just
- 59:20playing through um Absolution again
- 59:24because the old Hitman games are just so
- 59:28clunky compared to the new ones that uh
- 59:31it's just so hard to go back yeah yeah have you ever encountered that oh yeah yeah
- 59:38um well particularly if I go back and try and play some games on emulators
- 59:43like old old games like they're unplayable yeah yeah I actually even
- 59:48remember this has been a problem I had even when it was um when even the
- 59:52original PlayStation came out there was a game I used to like called jungle
- 59:56strike or oh the helicopter yeah yeah you used to play that all the time on
- 1:00:02the sear or the Super Nintendo they also released it on the PlayStation and once
- 1:00:07I played on that I couldn't go back and play the old ones yeah
- 1:00:10yeah yeah well and also I mean anything that's on um the original Xbox or I
- 1:00:16think the PlayStation um P these games on PS2 yeah
- 1:00:22they still they were still kind of the the dodgy 3D generation the PlayStation
- 1:00:28one is obviously the worst the play Playstation One games are like at that
- 1:00:33point where like the Super Nintendo and the the mega drive or the Genesis for
- 1:00:36our overseas listeners those games still look good yeah where and then you skip
- 1:00:42to the PlayStation and the N64 even to a degree and although N64 they kind of put
- 1:00:49effort into not making them look [ __ ] making them not look [ __ ] rather um but
- 1:00:54yeah Playstation One games in particular just look awful
- 1:00:56because it's like bad 3D games yeah and
- 1:01:01terrible controls like actually one of my favorite games of all time is um
- 1:01:06Silent Hill 2 oh yeah [ __ ] the controls go back and play it the controls are so
- 1:01:12awful and and the first game's even worse yeah but well the first game was
- 1:01:18PS1 yes exactly yeah yep yeah terrible but again and there's a game called Rule
- 1:01:24of Rose which is actually I think um band in Australia playing in the garden
- 1:01:28no it's about you're a school teacher and you
- 1:01:31um uh the you get off a bus the bus breaks down and you get off and then but
- 1:01:37then he drives off and he leaves you at this orphanage which is been taken over
- 1:01:42by the children and uh it's all creepy and um it's it's very Silent Hill in
- 1:01:49that that's not really what's happening but it all you have flashbacks to like
- 1:01:54the 1800s and stuff at the orphanage and and then you fight creepy monsters and
- 1:02:00stuff it's it's a really cool game but the controls are [ __ ] [Music]
- 1:02:05terrible well I'll just quickly mention um I watched or we watched the new
- 1:02:10Godzilla uh have any of you guys seen that no yes I have uh I liked
- 1:02:16it um question did you feel anything for
- 1:02:20that family at all no and also I thought my mean issue with
- 1:02:27was the story line like they tried to focus so much on the the human aspect of
- 1:02:32it but the story line was ridiculous like oh really yeah I mean I mean
- 1:02:38clearly it is because it's about giant monsters but even then they they just
- 1:02:41kind of skip over [ __ ] like uh they go from you know this this this horrible
- 1:02:47disaster at the start and that was all really the start of it built up really
- 1:02:50well and then uh was the horrible disaster Godzilla no no and that's why
- 1:02:56that's it was interesting it's not Godzilla it's something else it's it's
- 1:02:59the Fukushima plant and then uh sort of
- 1:03:03and then something else happens and then they're like before Godzilla even
- 1:03:09turns up they're like have any Godzilla was here he could sort this out and it's
- 1:03:14like wait what and then so this guy's like yeah cuz Godzilla is the good guy
- 1:03:19and this guy's like oh yeah no we're pretty sure Godzilla's um here to
- 1:03:22restore balance like what the [ __ ] does that mean what do you mean restore balance
- 1:03:26and then Godzilla shows up which they wanted and then they start shooting at
- 1:03:31him and I'm like what the [ __ ] is going on like so this is only one guy only one
- 1:03:37guy wanted him to show no they they all did didn't they they were all like oh
- 1:03:40Godzilla's here hooray just the one s side I got the impression they all in on
- 1:03:45it they were all like yeah all right no but the one thing I didn't like cuz I
- 1:03:50had the whole family separated and all this that was trying to move the story
- 1:03:53along I did not care about this out I want to see Godzilla fight and when you
- 1:03:58did see him fight it was excellent and I thought oh man I wish I'd seen more of
- 1:04:03that but then on the other hand maybe the fact that I didn't see it made it
- 1:04:07that much better because the fights in Pacific Rim did get a bit
- 1:04:12old yeah where and because Pacific Rim was just all like yep you can you can
- 1:04:17see as much of this monster punching robot stuff as you want whereas in this
- 1:04:21it was very much like you get a glimpse of stuff and then it's was like ah a
- 1:04:26[ __ ] show me that again and then and then eventually there was a big payoff
- 1:04:30and I think it it possibly worked better
- 1:04:34because because of the blue balls that that I had from just trying to see what
- 1:04:39[ __ ] Godzilla looked like it's a Jaws syndrome yeah yeah yeah yeah a bit like
- 1:04:43that yeah because even when Godzilla's doing stuff and then you're like oh cool
- 1:04:47and then someone shuts the door it's like don't shut the door I want to see
- 1:04:49what he's doing like I'll just leave you to it goodz yeah oh I better shut the
- 1:04:54door I don't want I don't want to see this like [ __ ] open the door so I can see
- 1:04:58him he's punching [ __ ] yeah but yeah I I did like it I
- 1:05:02just yeah like like you said I didn't care about the family that much I
- 1:05:05thought that was pretty I don't know they just weren't handled that well and
- 1:05:10it was all just a bit I don't know the storyline I thought was a
- 1:05:14bit silly well like you said I I mistakenly thought that uh that they all
- 1:05:19wanted Godzilla to show up and that's why I couldn't understand why how they
- 1:05:22know about Godzilla is this literally a sequel to the Matthew br no no it's not
- 1:05:26it's just that they um they do mention
- 1:05:28that he was he showed up once uh in the
- 1:05:33the like in Japan in the 50s yeah they I forget when exactly when they were doing
- 1:05:39nuclear tests they weren't tests they were trying to kill
- 1:05:42Godzilla ah um yeah and he it's kind of
- 1:05:46like he'll show up and and stop this stuff um but he wrecks the city and we
- 1:05:52just kind of have to deal with that yeah he's like the Hulk yeah basically yeah
- 1:05:56like oh he'll come and he'll he'll deal with this because we can't um but we're
- 1:06:01gonna have to ride off have to ride off a city or two San FR well that's
- 1:06:04Superman now as well Superman just [ __ ] destroys [ __ ] yeah it was very much like
- 1:06:09that can I just say like I'm a little
- 1:06:12bit over cities being destroyed I know oh in real life like and I don't mean
- 1:06:17that from some kind of like philosophical point of view I'm just
- 1:06:22bored of looking at it yeah yeah like like n of the Living Dead Right was
- 1:06:28people [ __ ] locked in a house with [ __ ] outside and it was thrilling okay
- 1:06:33we didn't need to se zombies destroy the world you know what I mean and now
- 1:06:37you've got Z's for zombie is that what it's called Z's for Zombie World War Z World War
- 1:06:42Z Z for zombie is the kids version yeah that's right World War Z where you
- 1:06:48literally see [ __ ] millions of zombies like [ __ ] destroying the
- 1:06:51world and it's like it's just not as interesting yeah yeah I know what you mean like it's
- 1:06:56it's kind of like you know I was saying with Pacific Rim it was just all there
- 1:07:00to see and it's kind of like oh it's a bit bit numbing and like Superman man is
- 1:07:03still like the action in that was just mind- noming like it was just not that
- 1:07:07cool by the end of it yeah just oh more of more of this I think it will start to
- 1:07:11disappear shortly I think all it is and this happens a lot they find out they've
- 1:07:15got the technology to do this and make it look realistic and they go crazy with
- 1:07:19it for while yeah yeah then they get bored with it and then I'll move on to
- 1:07:22the next yeah because it just stops meaning anything like they've [ __ ]
- 1:07:26hitting each other with satellites and [ __ ] man of steel is ridicul and I was
- 1:07:29just like okay all right this is not as steel was appalling though the the only
- 1:07:34thing that I really thought was good about Man of Steel were the scenes where
- 1:07:40he was a kid growing up yeah with Kevin Co with Kevin Cosner like and I can't
- 1:07:43believe I'm saying that like you know mean I can't believe I'm saying the best
- 1:07:46part of a movie was Kevin Co also like scenes with Kevin Co even his his mom
- 1:07:51later on was pretty cool and he rocks up in his Superman gear and then she's like
- 1:07:54oh hey son that stuff was cool yeah but like all
- 1:08:00the fights all the stunts all of that awful yeah got it just and anything with
- 1:08:05the lowest Lane could be cut out and you know it's not that they were they were
- 1:08:09too they weren't explosive or big enough they were too big and they were they
- 1:08:13were too ridiculous and it just like it loses all Impact there's a point of
- 1:08:18diminishing return yeah exactly yeah where and and then if you watched the um
- 1:08:24Little Shop of Horrors special edition yet no I have we got it sitting out
- 1:08:29there we've not watched I won't say anything else but all right watch it
- 1:08:34cool um while we're on superheroes real quick though uh Zack Snider has released
- 1:08:41a picture of the Batmobile oh yeah yeah yeah I really really thought that this
- 1:08:45was going to be a return to form and the Batmobile was going to go back to being
- 1:08:48a car again but it's not it's another tank and I couldn't be more disappointed
- 1:08:54yeah but that man supposed to have a cool car that's that's the thing he has
- 1:08:58a cool car he doesn't drive a tank yeah this thing's got a big [ __ ]
- 1:09:04Cannon mounted on the front of it [ __ ] what's that for he doesn't well
- 1:09:08actually I was going to say he doesn't kill people but [ __ ] neither does
- 1:09:10Superman apparently yeah well mind you
- 1:09:14we put on the 1966 Batman movie the other day uh it was a Sunday afternoon
- 1:09:20and we thought it was a great Sunday Afternoon movie and that movie is
- 1:09:24terrific h have I mentioned that on this podcast already did I bring this up last
- 1:09:28week uh I don't know I think so maybe maybe or maybe we
- 1:09:35were just talking about it or maybe we were talking about it yeah cuz we were
- 1:09:39there that night that's true that's true but there's this one bit that just
- 1:09:42sticks in my head where you always think about the old Batman just being really
- 1:09:47really nonviolent and you know the scene with him trying to get rid of the bomb
- 1:09:51and not wanting to hurt drunks or ducks or uh yeah Salvation Army bands but then
- 1:09:58there's also a scene where Robin says well what if the Riddler is already
- 1:10:03kidnapped the girl and without hesitating Batman just says then I will
- 1:10:07bash him
- 1:10:11brutally it's like oh okay we're just it's going to have a brutal bashing I
- 1:10:16like uh this is on the on wired with the photo of the new Batmobile it says it
- 1:10:21seemed unlikely that the tumbler from The Dark Knight could ever be regarded
- 1:10:24as an understated take on Batman's town car but apparently that's where we've
- 1:10:28reached by the time Ben Ben Affleck Cape Crusader gets his first Solo movie it
- 1:10:32wouldn't be the least bit surprising if the next Batmobile turns out to be
- 1:10:35larger than Gotham City itself yeah interesting yeah no this looks silly I I
- 1:10:42mean I based on um Man of Steel I'm not
- 1:10:47that I don't have that much hope that this is going to be I I was sort of
- 1:10:52looking starting to look forward to this because I don't know why but now I've
- 1:10:57seen the Batmobile and it is like much like it reminds me of the Dark Knight
- 1:11:02one and I thought this was meant to be a different Batman yeah well I guess we'll
- 1:11:07wait and see I mean it might be all right look I don't know if you want to
- 1:11:10see Ben Fleck in a Superman movie then
- 1:11:14you should go and watch Hollywood land where Ben Affleck plays James Rees the
- 1:11:20guy who plays the original Superman and
- 1:11:23it's just about his rise to fame and his
- 1:11:27uh questionable death and it's fantastic it's a great movie about old
- 1:11:33Hollywood I would actually like to watch that I'm G to make a note of
- 1:11:37that if you watch the trailer for it you'll notice there's a conspicuous
- 1:11:43absence of the Superman Insignia because they had the rights to
- 1:11:48use because it's not who who owns the rights to
- 1:11:51Superman uh I can't remember in in terms of
- 1:11:56film who I'm not sure yeah um anyway
- 1:12:02whichever production company she War Warner Brothers yeah maybe it's Warner
- 1:12:06Brothers owns Superman um and this is not Warner Brothers and it's not a
- 1:12:12Superman movie although it does feature Superman fairly heavily in it yeah but
- 1:12:16they licensed the Superman costume for the film but they couldn't get
- 1:12:21advertising rights so in all the trailers he's just I don't know whether they've
- 1:12:26superimposed it out or whether they film specific scenes so that they could use
- 1:12:29them in the trailer but there's no Superman s huh yeah he's just in a
- 1:12:34costume yeah he's just in a blue suit
- 1:12:39interesting oh have you seen this Star Wars parody on Sesame Street no no I
- 1:12:44have not I haven't watched it yet but I saw a picture and read an article about
- 1:12:48um hang on let me put this in the show notes this is it's under
- 1:12:54TV chewy is a cookie not a
- 1:12:59Wie star s'mores so yes snapus plays a
- 1:13:05banther um only one canoli is a wise weather Jedi who meant as a young Luke
- 1:13:11pie Walker Princess P everything's a pun
- 1:13:16yeah and uh yeah I mean it looks adorable that does look adorable when I
- 1:13:21was a kid there was nothing better
- 1:13:25than Star Wars themed TV shows yeah because Muppet Babies had a Star Wars
- 1:13:32Episode and they tease it in the uh opening titles like of every episode and
- 1:13:38I'd [ __ ] just want that episode to come up yeah yeah you know that's
- 1:13:43awesome I'm definitely going to watch this all right I've worked at what we
- 1:13:46need to do next time Dave can't make a uh podcast let's talk about Star Wars
- 1:13:51yeah well I mean it's could all been about we manag to squeeze a bit in here
- 1:13:54at the end but uh speaking of squeezing it in at the
- 1:13:58end yep no no speaking of
- 1:14:04stars uh yeah well that's a better uh it's a better out than I could have come up
- 1:14:09with I was just going to say they're doing an obi-1 canobi spin-off a for
- 1:14:13[ __ ] sake yes and a Bobba fit
- 1:14:16one yeah ah man I don't know I'm scared of these I'm scared of
- 1:14:22these movies uh not as scared I don't know I'm not as scared
- 1:14:29now that George Lucas isn't in control but have you seen this business actually
- 1:14:34this is something we could talk about um this stuff about Latino Review flying
- 1:14:40drones over the set and whether that crosses some kind of boundary cuz um uh
- 1:14:46I just clicked through on the verge to the article I forgot I forgot about this
- 1:14:49but Latino Review have taken have got these photos actually and I'll put this
- 1:14:52in the show notes as well have a look at this it's just there underneath the other one
- 1:14:57and uh there was a bit of uh oh these the ones yeah the sets I did look at
- 1:15:02these bit of controversy I'm trading a very fine line at the moment between how
- 1:15:06much I want to know about these movies movies like I'm trying to avoid plot
- 1:15:12spoilers but I will look at set photos yeah well I mean there's there is what
- 1:15:18looks like the Millennium Falcon there and there is I'd say I'd say that's Oran
- 1:15:23Cruiser uh seems to also be an X-Wing yeah a couple of x-wings but the the
- 1:15:29major question about this is how the [ __ ] did they get this photo and
- 1:15:33apparently uh somebody suggested that they were flying drones over the set and
- 1:15:39is that going too far wow cuz that does seem a bit
- 1:15:44dodgy yeah maybe they can fly some drones over Jennifer lawren
