- 0:48[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome to Daily Influence, I'm Grecollino.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_02]: Today, I'm joined by Kevin Smith, founder and chief kindness chaser of kindness worldwide.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_02]: Kevin's story is a powerful example of how influence can begin in the smallest of moments.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_02]: After a stranger went out of her way to return his loss wallet, Kevin wanted to do more than simply say thank you.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_02]: His effort to recognize that one act ultimately grew into kindness worldwide, a much larger mission, creating a culture of kindness and communities around the world.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_02]: Kevin has taken that message far beyond his own community, including addressing the world kindness movement, general assembly, and Palermo, Italy, where he challenged leaders to consider kindness as a shared human value.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I find especially relevant to our conversation today is that Kevin isn't simply talking about kindness as something we feel.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_02]: He's working to turn it into something people intentionally practice, recognize and multiply.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_02]: Kevin, welcome to Daily Influence.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_01]: Well, thank you so much for having me.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's wonderful to hear.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_02]: Have in your story really reinforces something we talk about often on daily influence.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_02]: We don't always recognize the moments that are going to change the direction of our lives while we are living them.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_02]: You've talked about how your mother, your grandfather, your career, and ultimately the stranger who returned your wallet all helped shape your belief that the meaning of life is to make a meaningful difference.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_02]: When you look back now, which experiences most shape the way you think about your responsibility to influence another people and why did kindness go from being one of your values to becoming something you felt responsible for advancing?
- 2:44[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's hard to point my finger at any one thing.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: It was a combination of events.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think it all means begins at answer by my mother, my mother raised two children on her own,
- 2:54[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we lived modestly, and that we had an abundance of the one thing that matter most, which was love.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: My mom was a self-employed beautician.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_01]: She had multiple jobs to provide for my sister and I, and you know, I noticed how my mom treated other people.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: She was a beautician.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: She, her job was to make other people beautiful, but she realized it wasn't outward appearances that mattered.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: It was what was on the inside.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: And my mom could light up her room, and she made everyone smile and brought joy, and she was my everything.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: And so she passed away to be 16 years of temperal one, but I always do, I wanted to make my mother proud.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: And in my granddad, also had an influence my life.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: He was a farmer, and I would sell produce from the farm, growing up the paperway through college, and I loved interacting with people.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_01]: and I love bringing joy to people.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: And so, you know, they really helped shape who I am.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: But then this act of kindness.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm good Friday morning of all days.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, all I wanted to do, and you alluded to, was say thank you for this young woman in a more meaningful way.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: And there was a story about it that went viral, because they had to ring doorbell footage and went viral.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_01]: And in the footage, they blurred out her face because no one who she was at the time.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: So they did its protect her identity, but it was not to shield her from credit.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I discovered her on Facebook, Hail Mary, attempt connected.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: I threw one of my own, and I discovered her through a profile picture with her in her dog.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: And she was very modest and humble,
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: she actually thanked me for thanking her, but she made a comment that really resonated with me.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: She said, I'm just the blurry face.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: And my instinct suggests that there's more to that comment because how many people in a real feel like just the blurry face that they're not seen, they're not appreciated, they're not understood, not recognized.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: And so,
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: I just felt this young woman deserve to be publicly recognized and to be seen and so that really started what I can only describe as an eventual lifetime one thing led to another.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: So many serendipous moments after another you wouldn't believe and oddly inspire me to launch Kindest Worldwide later that year.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_01]: Kindest Worldwide has a vision to create a culture of kindness and communities throughout the world but it was that event.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: For this young woman, Brooke Dubs, was no longer just a blurry face and got the credit.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: She deserved and was seen to the world for her smart, of kindness.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_01]: That's not such a small thing.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's create a ripples now become a wave, literally spreading throughout the world.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_02]: That's an amazing story.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_02]: And that's an important distinction, recognizing something good versus deciding to take responsibility for what happens next.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_02]: that one action influence you, and then your response influenced others.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_02]: Can you take us to one specific moment when you saw an act of kindness create an impact far beyond the person who originally received it?
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: Well, obviously the one we're talking about, you know, losing my wallet on good Friday morning, but this act of kindness changed my life in two ways.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it really may be see the good again.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: I, without knowing it, I was being conditioned to see the world through a lens that was large, a glass half empty.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: I said, have full watching that the news, largely negative.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I was getting caught up in that and this active kind of snap me out of the subconscious trance.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe realize that there's good and kind of everywhere.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_01]: I just need to open my eyes to see it.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: But it's not enough to just see the good.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's important to be the good to go the extra mile, go,
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: to do anything about the things in the world that would weigh on me.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, who am I to do anything about anything?
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just an ordinary guy, Kevin Smith.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, what can I do?
- 6:38[SPEAKER_01]: And now through this active kindness and its ripple effects, I actually now feel empowered to feel that maybe there's something I can do after all.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_01]: I used to point the finger at others and there's a lot of finger pointing that can go around.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: But I realize that that solves nothing.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: I cannot control the actions of other people.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: I can only control the actions of my own.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_01]: So I had an epiphany.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: I looked in the mirror.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_01]: And instead of pulling the finger at others, I point you at me, and I realize it's me that needs to change.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's me that needs to be better, it's me that needs to do better.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: I was a good person before Good Friday morning, 2023, but I am a much better person today because of one act of kindness by Brookdubs.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_01]: And if that could happen to me, if an act of kindness could have such a profound impact on me,
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: It can have an impact on anyone and with each have that power of kindness within us.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's a simple choice to exercise it to be the reason someone believes in the goodness of people.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_01]: And if we do that, through our agency, we can and we will change the world.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: Can you tell us about kindness worldwide?
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, well, it has a vision to create a culture of kindness and communities throughout the world.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: There's many aspects to that vision.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: Our signature initiative, Kindness Week, Worldwide, has become a global movement.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: It occurred to me in this journey that we don't do enough to celebrate what I believe is humanity's greatest asset, which is Kindness.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: So Kindness Week, Worldwide has celebrated eight days in November.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's a Saturday before World Kindness Day, the Saturday after.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: So this year's November 7th through the 14th.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: LIA days?
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think kindness deserves an extra day.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: So I added one.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: I also identified eight characteristics of kindness on this journey.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: So some volatility, there's one day for each characteristic.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: The framework of kindness we provide entails formal recognition by governing bodies.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: We have governors and mayors engaging.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: The visions have all 50 governors recognize kindness we provide.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: If you can't stand for kindness,
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: We have police departments this way in kindness citations to see the good and the people that define our community and make our community so vibrant, blood donation is part of that framework.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's a symbolic way of paying an act of kindness forward, it can literally save lives, but within this framework.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: Communities are free to embrace it any way they choose limited only by the bounds of imagination and creativity and our vision is to have this this this meaningful week celebrated everywhere anywhere throughout the world But there's also other aspects of the vision we can use music and sports to bring people and communities together we can teach kindness and classrooms teach them values not just academics
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so many things storytelling, the power of film, there's an award-winning film called for such a time as this.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's the origin story of kind of worldwide.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's winning award.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's moving people to tears from multiple reasons.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: Pope Leo coincidentally enough, last November, had a convening of the Global Film Ministry at the Vatican, and there he challenged filmmakers not to shy away from what he called the world's wounds.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: And what he met by that is the cover important topics that are delicate but important like addiction, like domestic violence, like suicide and depression, like abuse.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: this film does all of those things.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_01]: It actually answered Pope Leo's call, well before he even issued it.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: There's much more of the story of kindness for a while that meets the eye.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_01]: And those people think it's this lost wallet and what I want to do, the recognizes young woman, kindness has a ripple effect.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_01]: It also has a boomerang effect.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: And that comment, I'm just a very face.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: There was much more that comment.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: This act of kindness has not only changed my life, it has changed Brookdubs life as well in a very powerful way.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_02]: That's wonderful.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_02]: Can you tell us or share with us that eight kindness care districts?
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: You bet, well, they are gratitude, patience, forgiveness, empathy and compassion, respect, joy, generosity, and service.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_01]: So to occur to me that we often say, well, that's not kind.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we all kind of know generally what kindness is, but we need to take it to another level.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: We need to break it down to its fundamental part so that we can hold ourselves others accountable.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what the eight characteristics are all about.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: But it all begins with gratitude, gratitude is the foundation, and it's how this journey of kindness worldwide began.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I just want to say thank you to the young woman in a more painful way, it took on life itself, but every day is a gift.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I think we all should appreciate the gift that we have each and every day.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_01]: And what we choose to do with it, you know, there's an attitude that says the only difference in a good day in a bad days or attitude, I choose to make it a good day and try to be that reason someone believes in good people, try to be the best version of myself I can be every day.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_01]: And every moment, if we each do that, it will change our world, it will change the world around us and the broader world at large.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_02]: It absolutely will.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_02]: And I want to explore something that I think is especially important for leaders because sometimes the word kindness gets misunderstood.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_02]: Being kind isn't necessarily the same thing as being agreeable.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_02]: How would you distinguish genuine kindness from simply being nice avoiding conflict or telling people what they want to hear?
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: Many people confuse the two.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: I believe
- 11:51[SPEAKER_01]: kindness is a strength and sometimes when you know where people pleasing it it's a sigh of her own kind of insecurity you know we're trying to please others without being standing or around and and and being firm and and being secured who we are sometimes we worry too much about what what other people think of us instead of loving ourselves first because kindness begins with it
- 12:12[SPEAKER_01]: and then it amplifies outward.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: So it starts with us.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_01]: And it just be who we are, just be authentic.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, nice, this is being part of, as part of kindness.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: But they're very different.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_01]: And just being authentic, being real, being true.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: We recently lost a platform called Rock.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's an acronym, Ripple's of kindness.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's also a substantial random opportunity for kindness.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: But Rock connotates strength, because kindness is a strength.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_01]: And we need a strong platform to uplift the world on its shoulders in this global movement, rock is that platform.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_01]: And through this platform, we will be able to celebrate champions of kindness anywhere and everywhere.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_01]: We want to amplify kindness.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: Anyone can be a champion of kindness.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_01]: But just starts by being true to who you are.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: and loving who you are and seeing yourself the way you deserve to be seen.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_01]: We all need to start seeing each other through our shared humanity.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, there's differences.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_01]: And we can celebrate differences, but not at the expense of what you nights.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_01]: And our hearts is what, where the true beauty resides and kindness is the one thing, universal greed, our world needs more of that you night to solve.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: said today, I want kindness to become part of how we operate, not just something we talk about, what framework would you give them?
- 13:35[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it starts with strong leadership.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_01]: You know, culture of kindness, a culture of organizations starts with the top.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_01]: starts with visionary leaders who believe in kindness and live by their example, lead by their example.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: I'm good friend of mine, Alan Williams.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: He's written about values and he says values are for living, not for laminating.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_01]: Many people talk a good game, but they don't live their words.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_01]: So that's what leaders are supposed to do.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_01]: Within your organizations, there's various ways to promote that culture.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_01]: Just walk around, talk to people.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: Hear their stories, because people bring
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: their homes with them to the workplace.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_01]: And everyone's got a story.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone's dealing with something, but when they know that they're seeing, and they feel value, they feel understood, they're going to be more productive.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_01]: you know they're going to make the organization better.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: I always say that it's often the emphasis in businesses is ROI return investment.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: Well the focus should be on ROK return on kindness because kindness is free but has exponential benefits and then the profitability will come if you create that culture but it starts to senior people understanding your people and putting the eight characteristics of kindness in the work you can put signings in the workplace the eight characteristics
- 14:43[SPEAKER_01]: how are you going to exude these characteristics today in the workplace?
- 14:47[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe use the rock platform.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_01]: We can create rock groups in the organization and have people record kinases, have the departments, have their own groups, and do kinases, everyone will be uplifted, it'll make everyone better, more productive, more happy, more joyful, and will lead to greater profitability.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_02]: That is excellent.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_02]: How did you scale something as
- 15:09[SPEAKER_02]: human and personal kindness without allowing it to become performative, transactional, or simply another campaign.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_01]: Well, really, that's what this movement is all about.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_01]: We want to change the culture.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: This society, I think, and the way I described is we're trending towards what I call an epidemic of empathy erosion.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_01]: We're losing empathy.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_01]: For more connected than we've ever been before through social media and technology, but we're losing the miss of it all, connection.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: We're losing empathy.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_01]: But you can restore that through kindness.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_01]: There's a whole science that supports this.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_01]: And so what I hope this move it won't be achieved is to remind every one of our shared humanity.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_01]: And to restore empathy through kindness.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_01]: And once it's mindful, once it's top of mind in our consciousness, interdaly lives routines,
- 15:53[SPEAKER_01]: everyday, it's just a way of life.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_01]: And if we all live that way, we all choose kindness.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: We will change the world.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_01]: And we will, it'll gradually become contagious.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_01]: So it's really more about living authentically, um, being reminded of the agency we each possess.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_01]: Because when we're on kind, we've lost our agency.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_01]: That is a side of witness.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: People would say kindness is a witness.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's an excuse.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's a cop out.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_01]: Because if you think about,
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: math.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_01]: I always say math is wrong.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_01]: In math, a negative, times a negative as a positive, and a negative times a positive as a negative, but in the kindness space, someone comes out with unkindness.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_01]: If we respond in kind with unkindness, nothing good happens.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_01]: If we take a pause and respond with kindness, which is a strength hard to do, only good things can happen.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: And so we all just need to be aware of that.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_01]: are so important, and we overestimate these little things.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: Life goes by fast, and it is a gift we have, and we can choose how we live that gift every day, and if we're kind, it does have a boomerang effect, there's a physical benefit, spiritual benefit, mental health improves, there's a whole size of back this up, back this up, but we got to be mindful.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: And it's something that really can be that ripple effect,
- 17:18[SPEAKER_02]: And I love that you say to respond with kindness.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_02]: That can really turn a conversation from going south to going into the positive.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_01]: And it's a choice.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I say kindness is the world's greatest superpower.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: It costs nothing.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's absolutely free.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's within our power if we choose to exercise it.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's the greatest source of positive energy reserves on the planet.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_01]: And if we each consciously choose to be the reason some unbeliefs and the goodness of people, it will change the world around us.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: It'll change ourselves.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: People live longer who are kind.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: People look ten years younger who are kind.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_01]: It reduces the risk of dementia.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: It lowers the risk of heart disease and diabetes, Alzheimer's, all these positive benefits.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_01]: exist because of kindness.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_01]: It should be public policy.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we would say billions of dollars in health care costs by being proactive, it's by choosing kindness.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_01]: So my hope is through this movement is we will have a platform to let people know about what kindness can do and how it does have that benefit, that health benefit to ourselves, often say tongue and cheek, that being selfless is the most selfish thing one can do.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: because it comes back mortals more when you give to others, it comes back exponentially to the giver.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_02]: And if someone wanted to be more intentional about the influence that they have each day, can you share any daily kindness framework of routine that you would recommend?
- 18:53[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe a question they can ask themselves in the morning or behavior they should practice during the day or something they can reflect on at night.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think each day who's trying to be mindful, what can I do today to make difference in someone else's world?
- 19:07[SPEAKER_01]: And it could be a simple thing as a smile or a hello.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: But if we're mindful, and we focus on doing one act a day, one kind act a day, it can literally make that impact.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_01]: We actually have kindness cards.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: We have see the good cards and be the good cards.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_01]: The be the good cards have 16 different simple acts of kindness.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: and often like to pull a card out and try to say, well, what can I do today to do this act of kindness?
- 19:31[SPEAKER_01]: So for example, simple things, here's a be the good card.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_01]: And they're on a website, kind of's for why that work.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: This one says, thanks someone who made that here enough.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe send a thank you note, a text message.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_01]: Complement someone, there's always a reason.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_01]: Say I love you more today than yesterday.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we often, those are three powerful words, we don't say them enough.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_01]: Treat someone is something they don't expect.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe treat someone to coffee and then line at the coffee place Send a meaningful note to someone meaningful.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_01]: There's so many little things that are so huge But it starts with daily habits.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_01]: Myful habits of behaviors.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: I call it kindfulness and It's just a matter of building in your in your delirute team.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_01]: This is a way of life for me
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, again, I was a good person for this began, but it's now I do try every day to see the good and people be the reason someone else feels seen and put these little acts of kindness to work and it just becomes effortless and then if we do that day after day, it's just literally upless us and upless those around us as well.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_02]: That is great advice.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for sharing that in Kevin.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_02]: I want to close by bringing this all the way back to the individual because movements ultimately still depend on individual people deciding how they're going to show up and none of us needs to create a global nonprofit type of meaningful influence.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_02]: If you could sit down with younger Kevin before the recognition before Kindness Worldwide and before you knew where any of this would lead What would you tell him about influence purpose and the difference one person can make?
- 21:08[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I've learned through this experience and other life experiences, but especially the journey of Kindness Worldwide
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: then magic happens in miracles manifest and it starts with us and there's a power of positive thinking.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: There's an attitude says whether you think you can or you can't you're right.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: But what's happened this journey with heart passion and purpose and when you surround yourself with people with heart passion and purpose and start believing not just thin yourself but start believing in each other and you unite around a shared vision shared
- 21:50[SPEAKER_01]: the world is your oyster.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_01]: And what's happened so far in this journey of kindness worldwide is nothing short and miraculous.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_01]: I know where this is going and what's ahead.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_01]: There's no logical reason for any of it, other than just believing that it is possible.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: And if I didn't believe this vision to create a culture of kindness and to me, it's not that the world was possible.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_01]: We wouldn't be having this conversation.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'm passionate about it.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: Others are passionate about it and our world needs us now more than ever.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_01]: The story of kindness worldwide is proof.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_01]: that no active kindness is too small to make a different change of life and that anyone can make a lasting impact and even change the world through kind actions.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_01]: Why not you?
- 22:30[SPEAKER_01]: Why not me?
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: Why not us?
- 22:33[SPEAKER_01]: Why not now for such a time as this?
- 22:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, now just do it.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_01]: Amen.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_01]: And we are.
