- 0:52video. So guys, today I'm covering 10
- 0:55physical signs of Aspergers and girls.
- 0:58So this is going to be really interesting because there are
- 1:00many people who who think that autism is not just a it's just a
- 1:05neurological condition that doesn't have any physical kind
- 1:07of or biological impact, but it actually does.
- 1:09There are more signs of autism, physical and not just kind of
- 1:12neurological, that you don't really notice.
- 1:14So I'm going to go through 10 right now.
- 1:15And yeah, these are all amazingly interesting.
- 1:19OK, so the first one is difficulty with social
- 1:20interaction. Now, when you're physically
- 1:22around other people and you can't communicate socially
- 1:26effectively, it's obvious you know you're someone who's scared
- 1:28of talking, doesn't know social boundaries, doesn't know how to
- 1:31stand next to somebody, probably doesn't always show your turn to
- 1:33talk, do not say hello, goodbye, how to start a conversation.
- 1:36All these are telltale science. So #2 is repetitive behavior.
- 1:40Building the opsins spectrum may just be wanting to get up.
- 1:43You know, do their hair, brush their teeth, go downstairs, eat
- 1:45cereal, then that's what we do all day, every day.
- 1:48Just just do that same kind of cycle every day.
- 1:51Wake up, do it, brush teeth, have cereal.
- 1:53And then maybe watch cartoons and read the newspaper.
- 1:55Like they could just do this all the time.
- 1:57Now that repetitive behavior, that repetitive actual physical,
- 2:00tactile feedback they're getting is comfortable for them because
- 2:02it's relatability and they know what's going to happen, so it's
- 2:04reliable. This is why repetitive behavior
- 2:07is common among people on the Also the spectrum difficulty
- 2:11with communication is #3, and this actually comes from being
- 2:14disadvantaged, like communicating effectively,
- 2:16that's reading, understanding verbal, nonverbal, written
- 2:19communication, the language that comes along with it.
- 2:21Because when we talk, when we physically say something, we
- 2:24have emotion attached to that and we can we can decode that
- 2:26emotion and understand it. But for autistic individuals
- 2:29like myself, that emotion is difficult to read and
- 2:32understand. So builds on the with Asperger's
- 2:34syndrome will have difficulties with communication in general.
- 2:37And this is all types of communication, not just verbal
- 2:40communication. So #4 is sensory processing
- 2:42issues. This could mean that they have a
- 2:44light sensitivity, they can't be around bright light, they have a
- 2:47noise sensitivity if we're headphones all time because
- 2:49everything's too loud. They have a smell sensitivity or
- 2:52texture sensitivity, so they don't like saying foods or
- 2:54certain environments, right? And this is no exception for
- 2:59anyone. Girls Nielsen Spectrum girls
- 3:01with Asperger syndrome definitely have this issue.
- 3:03OK, so #5 is rigidity. So this means that looking at a
- 3:08person on the autism spectrum, the girl with Asperger's, would
- 3:10not like to deviate from the set path of the set plan.
- 3:14Any change in their routine, any change in their current future
- 3:19which is imminent is going to be detrimental to them and they
- 3:21won't be able to deal with it at all.
- 3:23So having a rigid structure that they stick to is very important
- 3:26and it's a big telltale sign of people on the Olsen spectrum.
- 3:29So every six is special interest.
- 3:30Now girls in the autumn spectrum will physically collect books on
- 3:33some new one Twilight series. All the foot time watches a lot
- 3:36of DVDs or they'll collect, I don't know, brooches, watches
- 3:39anything, hairbrushes could be absolutely anything.
- 3:42They will collect something that is very, very interesting and
- 3:46topical to them. And it could be the most bizarre
- 3:47thing. Could be rocks, it could be
- 3:48types of minerals, could be literally anything.
- 3:52And they'll collect these until the cows come home.
- 3:54It'll be something that they just have abundance of and
- 3:56they'll tell you everything about it.
- 3:57They'll watch documentaries on it, but they'll physically
- 3:59collect things as well, because people on the audience spectrum
- 4:01do like to collect items and trinkets and things like that.
- 4:04So you'll see someone being a collector and not just a nympho
- 4:07base for their topic of interest.
- 4:09So #7 is difficulties with executive function girls on the
- 4:12autism spectrum. Girls with Asperger syndrome
- 4:14will struggle to organize their lives.
- 4:16Struggle to organize like getting the washing done, doing
- 4:18the dishes, making food, meeting up with friends, remembering to
- 4:21take care of themselves, remembering to you know wash
- 4:24dishes and and get their clothes ready.
- 4:26All of these things very difficult for for people on the
- 4:29autism spectrum to grasp. Some of it is delay in multi
- 4:32development. This could be fine and gross
- 4:33motor skills like how you but keys and doors to open the door
- 4:37could be picking up things. It could be the ability to
- 4:40actively pick up a cup without dropping and smashing it.
- 4:42Or presuming that they look clumsy.
- 4:45It's not clumsiness, it's actually issues with motor
- 4:47development. Now, girls in the autism
- 4:48spectrum will definitely display traits.
- 4:51All of this because it's down to something called processing
- 4:53disorder as well, sensory processing disorder.
- 4:55But it is very common and it does impact a lot of girls on
- 4:58the spectrum. Now #9 is emotional regulation
- 5:00now. Or I should say emotional
- 5:02deregulation. Because girls on the autism
- 5:04spectrum won't be able to fully, 100% regulate their emotions,
- 5:08which means that they may be up and down very erratically with
- 5:11how they how they think and how they feel because they won't be
- 5:14able to express their feelings. So they may seem very angry and
- 5:16aggressive when actually they're just upset about something
- 5:19that's pending in the future. Or they could be really, really
- 5:21happy and a circular laughing at something that isn't really that
- 5:23funny because there's no regulation of emotions and it's
- 5:27hard to put that across #10 is unusual body language.
- 5:30Now this could be the a stance that could be standing a bit
- 5:33odd. It could be not knowing how to
- 5:34sit down properly. It could be not knowing how
- 5:37close to sit to another person in a in a closed setting or
- 5:40standing makes front of the person.
- 5:42Do they have an idea of personal space?
- 5:44All of these things come down to not really knowing how to use
- 5:48your body and your body language correctly in a social
- 5:51convention. And this is a telltale sign for
- 5:53autism in girls. Now guys, if you're interested,
