- 0:00Happy Monday, 100 Life Nation. It's Kelly Siegel and this is The Hard Reset. Today, we're resetting how you start today because the first hour is the most important 60 minutes you'll live. Win the first hour and you win the day, baby. Lose it.
- 0:17and you spend the rest of the day playing catch up. Here's the problem. Most people lose the first hour before they even roll out of bed. The alarm goes off. They hit snooze one, two, three times. They grab their phone, scroll through emails and social media, and boom! They're already on the defense and probably negative already. The day is happening to them instead of for them
- 0:47Or them happening to that day. You want to flip that. You've got to own the first hour. And no, it doesn't have to look like some crazy influencer checklist with 12 steps.
- 1:01For me, it comes down to three things. Move my body, fuel my mind, and set my priorities. Moving my body doesn't matter if it's 10 pushups, a walk, a gym session, just get the blood flowing because motion creates emotion, which is energy. You obviously know me, I hit the gym 5 a.m. every single day. Fuel my mind.
- 1:27Could be journaling, meditation, or reading a chapter in whatever book I'm reading that week. Something that sharpens your focus.
- 1:37Oftentimes, I'll just do all three. Journaling takes a minute, meditation is 10 minutes, and reading a chapter of a book, maybe another 10 minutes. Just depends on my mood. Number three, set your priorities. I write down the one to three things that I absolutely have to get done that day. Not 50 things, just the important needle movers that must get done. This way, you feel accomplished every day.
- 2:04If you don't do this, you're gonna get the end of your day and you're gonna realize, what did I do? Before the world even gets a piece of me, I've already done something for my body, for my brain, and my goals. The ripple effect is huge. When you win the first hour, you walk into work more confident, you're less reactive, you're proactive, people can feel that positive energy.
- 2:31But if you blow it, if you start with chaos, you spend the rest of your day behind and people can also feel that negative, scarce fear energy. So here's your hard reset. Tomorrow morning, don't start with your phone. Start with yourself. Move, fuel, focus. One hour, that's all it takes.
- 2:57Win that first hour and the rest of the day falls in line. Join me tomorrow with the guest John Anderson on the Harder Than Life podcast as we talk about mental fitness and physical mastery.
