- 0:05Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 0:06Speaker 2: We back at it off the edge of me, your
- 0:08Speaker 2: host Cam Jordan. I'm blessing on her to be sitting
- 0:11Speaker 2: in rooms with greatness. You know, I think that uh,
- 0:14Speaker 2: not only is the NBA All Star? How only do
- 0:17Speaker 2: you play thirteen years in the league? Bakers doesn't uh
- 0:20Speaker 2: to be synonymous with the you know, the b D
- 0:23Speaker 2: part of Baron Davis. It's time for this week's Drive
- 0:26Speaker 2: for Success Conversation, presented by Toyota.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Let's go places investor Raptor.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I think we first met over you know, the crypto
- 0:34Speaker 2: chain a couple of years back, you know, host, documentarian, producer.
- 0:40Speaker 1: What don't you do? Man?
- 0:41Speaker 3: I just try, you know, try a little bit of everything. Yeah,
- 0:44Speaker 3: you know, see see what I'm good at?
- 0:46Speaker 1: Hey? Man?
- 0:47Speaker 2: That when I when I left being a Sons fan
- 0:49Speaker 2: for like there was I exiled myself because of a
- 0:52Speaker 2: particular player that I didn't like his movement and his category.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Not gonna say because he's I found out he's a
- 0:57Speaker 1: great person. Yes, usually they are.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Man.
- 1:01Speaker 2: I was like, I was like, I can't stand him.
- 1:03Speaker 2: I was like, oh he doesn't. He's actually a good player,
- 1:05Speaker 2: but I just couldn't. I went I went over to
- 1:07Speaker 2: the Raiders and you are not the rate of the Warriors.
- 1:10Speaker 2: And you was out there handling that that that rock.
- 1:12Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. He was taking it down.
- 1:13Speaker 2: I was like, oh, the worst paradems of truth, you know.
- 1:16Speaker 2: But the old school or Warriors jerseys was. I was like,
- 1:20Speaker 2: you know, that's a fire color way. And then of
- 1:22Speaker 2: course after you was like Jared Jack and then it
- 1:24Speaker 2: was like mante Ellis and then they turned to this
- 1:26Speaker 2: guy Steph Steph Curry, and I was like, I'm going
- 1:28Speaker 2: back to my sons.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Yeah. I was like no.
- 1:30Speaker 2: I was like, I don't believe his like she Cat's
- 1:32Speaker 2: always injured. I was like, you got it from where. No,
- 1:34Speaker 2: I'm back.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I don't go back.
- 1:37Speaker 2: You know, I'm a son's fan. I'm a glud for punishment,
- 1:41Speaker 2: you know. Man, be like, wait, we got to GYMPI shu.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Though we've had some things. Either way, I appreciate you,
- 1:47Speaker 2: bro for you know, everything that you've done your career.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Play thirteen, man, play beyond, just get into the league,
- 1:52Speaker 2: play thirteen.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Yeah that's special. Man. It was.
- 1:56Speaker 3: I mean, and I would say I came into the league, hm,
- 2:01Speaker 3: you know, I was coming off an ACL injury. In
- 2:04Speaker 3: my freshman year. So my sophomore year was my next
- 2:08Speaker 3: year back. And then I came into the league. You know,
- 2:11Speaker 3: at the time, you know acl injuries, it was like, oh,
- 2:14Speaker 3: your career is over. We don't know what to do right,
- 2:17Speaker 3: But you know, I would say fortunately I was able
- 2:20Speaker 3: to play the first three years.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I made every game.
- 2:23Speaker 3: I played every game, and then like I shouldn't have slowly,
- 2:27Speaker 3: but surely you know your body just like if you
- 2:30Speaker 3: can ever get to you'll never get to one hundred percent.
- 2:34Speaker 1: That's just like, that's just a fact.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Feel every athlete, you will never fill one hundred percent
- 2:40Speaker 3: of yourself.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Until the all season.
- 2:42Speaker 3: You're like, dang, yeah, until it's until it's over, you
- 2:45Speaker 3: know what I mean, until it's over. But when you're
- 2:48Speaker 3: coming back from injury, it's like, oh, one hundred percent
- 2:50Speaker 3: of the eighty percent that you feel. Because as soon
- 2:53Speaker 3: as you are eighty seventy five in my case, it
- 2:56Speaker 3: was like seventy sixty five. As soon as you show
- 2:59Speaker 3: that you all right, they want to put you back
- 3:01Speaker 3: in the game. And so to think about it, whenever
- 3:04Speaker 3: you are injured, if you had another two weeks.
- 3:07Speaker 1: How much better would you have been? But the season ain't.
- 3:12Speaker 3: But it's our fault, you know, as athletes, because we
- 3:14Speaker 3: want to do that. But you know, I'm just fortunate
- 3:16Speaker 3: to be able to play thirteen injuries back and you know,
- 3:21Speaker 3: just persevere through it all because the journey was and
- 3:25Speaker 3: the journey was the most important part, and you know
- 3:27Speaker 3: I got through that.
- 3:28Speaker 2: We're gonna talk about that journey. I want to talk
- 3:30Speaker 2: about your sweatshirt. First, mister Bart Oatmeal just dropped dropped
- 3:33Speaker 2: his out. You know what I'm saying, album Still Cut
- 3:36Speaker 2: to the Big Apple. I was like, bro, I've seen
- 3:39Speaker 2: you know what if our mutual friends send me, send
- 3:41Speaker 2: me the album. I was like, wait, Baron okay. I
- 3:45Speaker 2: was like, tell me about it. Where do we get
- 3:47Speaker 2: Bart Oatmeal from.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Shout out to my son la here he named me
- 3:51Speaker 3: bartomel uh. And so I just created this whole, like
- 3:56Speaker 3: this legend, this comic book story, this comic series.
- 4:00Speaker 1: He's around this character.
- 4:02Speaker 3: And second album, by the way, second album, Still Cut one,
- 4:06Speaker 3: I think I got.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Yeah, this is the shirt for steel Cut one. I
- 4:10Speaker 1: ain't got the merchant for still Cut too.
- 4:13Speaker 3: But yeah, man, I was after I retired, I was like, damn, dude,
- 4:19Speaker 3: I don't know what to do. I'm going to start
- 4:22Speaker 3: trying to do things that I've always wanted to do it.
- 4:26Speaker 3: So I started making beats DJing, and nobody would wrap
- 4:30Speaker 3: to my beats. So I was like, well, so I
- 4:36Speaker 3: started rapping to the beats. And then my son, we were
- 4:38Speaker 3: playing around, he gave me the name Bart Oatmeal. So
- 4:40Speaker 3: I just took that name and ran with this whole
- 4:44Speaker 3: alter ego, kind of like a Batman comic, you know,
- 4:47Speaker 3: comic character, but he just make music. He worked at
- 4:51Speaker 3: a coffee shop during the day, Oatmeal Radio Cafe. It's
- 4:55Speaker 3: a real place. I got a real coffee shop, you know.
- 4:58Speaker 3: And then at night he makes music. No, I sit
- 5:01Speaker 3: here in l A. Oh yeah, you gotta come five
- 5:04Speaker 3: point oh maybe we have to. We have the best
- 5:06Speaker 3: coffee out here.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I don't partake in coffee.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I drink all right, we got I like all them.
- 5:15Speaker 1: You know, you're an athlete. I mean, once you retired, you.
- 5:20Speaker 2: I always sounds like when I'm old enough, I'm gonna
- 5:22Speaker 2: drink the hell out some coffee. And then I was like,
- 5:24Speaker 2: the only thing I like is like the little the
- 5:27Speaker 2: sugar stuff.
- 5:31Speaker 1: It's really a milkshake. Like yeah, this coffee there, Yeah,
- 5:34Speaker 1: that's all.
- 5:34Speaker 2: I'm really just taking an insoluence spike.
- 5:37Speaker 4: You know.
- 5:39Speaker 2: But man, that's crazy. Who do you compare your style
- 5:42Speaker 2: to I'm about I'm about to be fully in.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Man, I would say nobody. Really, I'm just uh, you know,
- 5:51Speaker 3: I pay homage. Some people say my voice kind of
- 5:55Speaker 3: sound like a guru, So I take that, you know,
- 5:59Speaker 3: as as a high and sonor but uh, I would
- 6:02Speaker 3: say my style is just you know, I wrap all right,
- 6:06Speaker 3: uh sing the hooks. I'm just having fun. You can
- 6:09Speaker 3: tell I'm having fun. But everything has like a little
- 6:12Speaker 3: concept to it. So you know, shout out to Guru,
- 6:15Speaker 3: I would saying, So you do your own art, like, no,
- 6:18Speaker 3: this is the artist Eric Boullie. So I partner with artists,
- 6:21Speaker 3: and he's the artist for still Cut. So it's like
- 6:24Speaker 3: a comic series. So my goal is to make twelve
- 6:28Speaker 3: still Cut twelve and then it'll be like a whole comic. Yeah.
- 6:33Speaker 1: You know, hey, man, I got a lot of time
- 6:36Speaker 1: on my hand.
- 6:37Speaker 2: You know, I've heard about retiring, I said, with nothing
- 6:43Speaker 2: to do with with with a whole lot of you
- 6:45Speaker 2: find something, we're gonna go off the deep end and.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Then you come back once you come up. You're like, damn,
- 6:55Speaker 1: what can I do now? Dude, be like a little wait,
- 6:58Speaker 1: like start up a truck, fit do something. I'm telling
- 7:01Speaker 1: you gonna try it out.
- 7:03Speaker 3: When I was on Dancing with the Stars, why because
- 7:07Speaker 3: I was like, hey, it would be cool to travel
- 7:10Speaker 3: the world and learn how the ballroom dance.
- 7:14Speaker 1: And so that was the only thing I needed to do.
- 7:16Speaker 2: To convince that's how you got it? What you know
- 7:19Speaker 2: what I do want to pick up this, I will
- 7:21Speaker 2: go with the stars.
- 7:23Speaker 1: You should be on it. I turned it. I've turned
- 7:25Speaker 1: it down currently because I was like a couple years
- 7:27Speaker 1: ago we got that like, hey, do you want to go?
- 7:29Speaker 1: Absolutely not. I need you on that, dude, absolutely not.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Like I can do.
- 7:33Speaker 2: I have the idea that I can as sure. I
- 7:35Speaker 2: don't want somebody to tell me I can't. I know no,
- 7:38Speaker 2: that's the thing.
- 7:38Speaker 1: We can't. I couldn't. I couldn't.
- 7:43Speaker 3: I think for football players it's it's an easier transfer
- 7:49Speaker 3: real yeah, and then with some basketball players you have
- 7:52Speaker 3: to like walk a certain way or like run and
- 7:55Speaker 3: move a certain way for you know, like to really
- 7:58Speaker 3: take yeah, you know take that take it into.
- 8:01Speaker 2: I thought for point guard it might be easier because
- 8:03Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, like the flow, everything is
- 8:06Speaker 2: a flow.
- 8:06Speaker 1: And once you get into a flow.
- 8:07Speaker 3: I'm like a defensive lineman that point guard. They like,
- 8:13Speaker 3: walk on your toes toe here. I'm like, man, I
- 8:16Speaker 3: can't do that. I'm want to get in the defensive stands.
- 8:18Speaker 3: They're like, no, you gotta balance on one leg. Like
- 8:23Speaker 3: all your balance is shifting weight from one leg to
- 8:26Speaker 3: the next, one leg to the next. So it's like
- 8:30Speaker 3: it's a huge, huge, huge, huge, look I've seen.
- 8:33Speaker 1: What do you think about that? And then you got
- 8:35Speaker 1: to move your arms, no doubt.
- 8:36Speaker 5: And also before sign.
- 8:44Speaker 1: That way too much, think about that. They like, I
- 8:53Speaker 1: believe in Scott. I don't believe in me. Can't you
- 8:57Speaker 1: remember your sets? Bro? I did.
- 9:00Speaker 2: I had to remember steps for a bit I did
- 9:03Speaker 2: with Kirk Cousins and uh with the s p's one
- 9:06Speaker 2: year a couple of years ago, were like, let's call
- 9:08Speaker 2: it a quick little eight count, you know, and I
- 9:10Speaker 2: was like, I'm thinking about it. Oh no, And if
- 9:14Speaker 2: Honor's not the speaks in if Honors, I'm like, I'm like,
- 9:16Speaker 2: oh wait, did I forget it?
- 9:17Speaker 4: No?
- 9:18Speaker 1: I got it, And by the time it was over,
- 9:19Speaker 1: I was like I still think. I was like, damn,
- 9:21Speaker 1: I missed that stuff. Yeah, exactly. That was my experience
- 9:25Speaker 1: on the Stars. I was like, damn, I missed a step,
- 9:28Speaker 1: I missed the move. And then you don't think about
- 9:30Speaker 1: the suit that I'm wearing.
- 9:31Speaker 2: I'm in this dope ass suit, but the material is
- 9:34Speaker 2: not is not material is rigid? Oh no, I'll say,
- 9:38Speaker 2: you know, you know, like the my man like do
- 9:42Speaker 2: the splits and touch his toes and suit I'm over
- 9:43Speaker 2: here like I got to stay with you the box
- 9:46Speaker 2: my movie look super rigid now and then back then
- 9:49Speaker 2: I got I got kirk coat chains out here out now,
- 9:52Speaker 2: I said, no, bro like he got like I've got
- 9:54Speaker 2: all the flavor.
- 9:55Speaker 1: He was tice. So that's stiffing you up for sure. Man.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Talking about sports though, like you know you played basketball,
- 10:04Speaker 2: but you just said it. You know you alluded to
- 10:06Speaker 2: be a defensive player. What was what was your first love?
- 10:10Speaker 1: Uh?
- 10:11Speaker 3: I would always say basketball was my first love. But
- 10:14Speaker 3: football was when I was really really good at when
- 10:18Speaker 3: I was growing up, Like I was really good at football,
- 10:21Speaker 3: and I was just like everybody thought I was so
- 10:23Speaker 3: small in basketball, you know, point guard. I'm the smallest
- 10:26Speaker 3: doe on the football field like I was a terear,
- 10:30Speaker 3: Like it don't matter how tall you are, as long
- 10:31Speaker 3: as you got that dog.
- 10:32Speaker 1: And if you was seven foot, I don't. I just
- 10:34Speaker 1: don't see you play found.
- 10:37Speaker 3: For you don't think you don't think it's seven foot
- 10:40Speaker 3: that could play wide receiver in the NFL.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Jesus, you took Lebron and all his greatness and you
- 10:46Speaker 2: put him out of wide receiver. He make six games
- 10:49Speaker 2: tops when I tell you have no needs, no shoulders,
- 10:52Speaker 2: like that's taken out.
- 10:55Speaker 1: That's the reason why the big ones don't last long.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Bro, you come over this middle and actually when he
- 11:00Speaker 2: in the league two thousand and three.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Yeah, oh you was dead dead? Did Manwaukee? Right?
- 11:05Speaker 2: Because they now now you probably have a better chance
- 11:08Speaker 2: because you know now the league, the league has protected
- 11:12Speaker 2: defensive players receiver. They've done their job to make sure
- 11:15Speaker 2: touchdowns will forever be king.
- 11:17Speaker 1: But absolutely not.
- 11:18Speaker 2: You would have took him to the two thousands. He
- 11:19Speaker 2: wouldn't made it two thousand and five. Okay, all right, bro,
- 11:23Speaker 2: Like we got a these two, I hear you, and
- 11:25Speaker 2: Russ Westbrook.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Is a hell of athlete. No, I don't, I don't.
- 11:28Speaker 3: I can see Russ probably playing corner corner, that's it.
- 11:32Speaker 1: But six foot four corner happening, that's tough, not happening.
- 11:35Speaker 3: But all he'd be like, you know, receiver, he could
- 11:38Speaker 3: be a receiver, but god, go across what position you play?
- 11:41Speaker 1: Safety? Cam Chancellor? He was coming.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Damn man, I'm trying to take somebody head. I'm trying
- 11:48Speaker 3: to get all right, I take the fine all that
- 11:52Speaker 3: you know. Don't come across this middle. Don't go deep.
- 11:56Speaker 3: If the ball, if you touch the ball, if you
- 11:58Speaker 3: come close to the ball here.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Yeah. Bad. So he was out there looking like the
- 12:04Speaker 1: other bad Brian do. Yeah. Who is your favorite NFL
- 12:07Speaker 1: players growing up?
- 12:09Speaker 3: Bo Jackson, Marcus Allen, Ronnie Lott, Random Cunningham.
- 12:15Speaker 1: I love Reggie White, yea, who else? Did I love?
- 12:19Speaker 3: Mike Singletary when I played Pop Warner. I used to
- 12:22Speaker 3: do that, like Mike said to the kids. And then
- 12:27Speaker 3: obviously you know, uh, Jerry Rice, I mean Jerry Rice
- 12:32Speaker 3: being a legend. I love every notother, everybody who came
- 12:37Speaker 3: through Notre Dame. Really yeah, I was a huge Notre
- 12:40Speaker 3: Dame fan Tony Rice. But okay, come on, man, I
- 12:46Speaker 3: mean that was the only we had a cable as
- 12:48Speaker 3: kid and Notre Dame came on every every week.
- 12:52Speaker 1: For sure, they're gonna force another Dame issue.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Yeah, Tony Rice, I was wearing number nine when I
- 12:57Speaker 3: was quarterbacking, so I was locked in.
- 12:59Speaker 1: So not enough Raiders for me. I'm not gonna lie
- 13:01Speaker 1: to you. I was expecting some some some Raider greats
- 13:04Speaker 1: upop Tim Brown. Yeah, there we go.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Tim Brown is my god, Charles Woods and I was like, definitely,
- 13:11Speaker 3: my god, how we long?
- 13:13Speaker 1: There we go? Greg Townsend, you know what I mean?
- 13:16Speaker 1: The Raiders. I just I just assume there's gonna be some.
- 13:18Speaker 3: I thought you're saying, like all long time, I didn't
- 13:21Speaker 3: want to raider you out. I mean, we got some
- 13:23Speaker 3: Rater Rader business to discuss. We gotta follow up. We
- 13:28Speaker 3: haven't followed up conversation from the last time that we
- 13:32Speaker 3: sat out.
- 13:33Speaker 2: No doubt, and you was you was promoted Raders big
- 13:35Speaker 2: fellow fro and you.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Completely you completely ignored. I feel like it fell on
- 13:40Speaker 3: deaf ears And I was like, you know what, not
- 13:43Speaker 3: right now?
- 13:43Speaker 1: Not right now? I ain't see said so you know,
- 13:49Speaker 1: so you know, we gotta talk about.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Where this were the support of the Raiders come from,
- 13:53Speaker 2: Like they growing up in l A. Yeah, Los Angeles,
- 13:57Speaker 2: Los Angeles Raiders.
- 13:59Speaker 1: You know, they were low cool.
- 14:00Speaker 3: They played at the coliseum, and you know out here
- 14:04Speaker 3: the Raiders is a swag. It's not just a football team.
- 14:09Speaker 3: It's like the swag. It's the hat, it's the jersey.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Like people wear Raider gear three sixty five facts. People
- 14:16Speaker 3: wear Raiders gear to the Laker game, to the Dodger
- 14:20Speaker 3: World Series. So it's you know, it's it's it's the gear.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Lifestyle lifesle Yeah. And then the mentality is almost like
- 14:30Speaker 3: an l A. You know, it was like an l
- 14:32Speaker 3: A mentality, an Oakland mentality, like the team adjusted to
- 14:36Speaker 3: the city when.
- 14:37Speaker 1: They came here. Now it's a Vegas mentality.
- 14:40Speaker 3: I think it's a combination of LA and Oakland. We
- 14:43Speaker 3: just haven't figured out got to professionalize it.
- 14:47Speaker 2: In Vegas, right. I was like, it's it's we're getting there.
- 14:50Speaker 2: We're getting very you know, like those Raiders. It's not
- 14:56Speaker 2: the same. And I get it, I don't.
- 14:58Speaker 1: You know, it's nice, it's professional.
- 15:02Speaker 3: We gotta you know, just like you said, we we
- 15:05Speaker 3: gotta evolve and take that same mentality and how it
- 15:09Speaker 3: works and this new NFL.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, you host the Raiders Talk of the
- 15:16Speaker 2: Nation show, Right, how do you feel about it?
- 15:20Speaker 1: You know you sat down.
- 15:21Speaker 2: You've been able to sit down the start of the
- 15:23Speaker 2: season this season by interviewing Mark Davis's first episode, like,
- 15:28Speaker 2: how's that going?
- 15:29Speaker 1: Man? That's crazy? Uh, you know, being being a fan. Yeah. Right.
- 15:34Speaker 1: You walk in the building, You're like, damn, dude, I
- 15:36Speaker 1: would love to work here for the Raiders. You're hired.
- 15:39Speaker 1: I'm like, what, let's go.
- 15:42Speaker 3: So every day you know that I work, I'm I'm
- 15:45Speaker 3: I'm happy, I'm upbeat.
- 15:46Speaker 1: I'm just happy to be there.
- 15:48Speaker 3: And so the opportunity and interview Mark Davis, he used
- 15:51Speaker 3: to sit on the floor at the Warrior game, so
- 15:54Speaker 3: when I will run out, I would always get you know, love, Yeah,
- 15:57Speaker 3: show Love's an opportunity like that being my first interview.
- 16:02Speaker 3: I've interviewed the Backstreet Boys, you know who, Max Crosby,
- 16:07Speaker 3: we sat down. So I've been kind of mixing it
- 16:09Speaker 3: up and it's great because it gives us, you know,
- 16:13Speaker 3: just it's for a fan, like I'm a true fan,
- 16:16Speaker 3: So I get to ask people questions. I get to
- 16:18Speaker 3: be a little naive, you know, I'm into the stories.
- 16:21Speaker 3: But it you know, I love what the Raiders did
- 16:25Speaker 3: because the Raiders organization, man is like the best organization,
- 16:30Speaker 3: the way they treat their former players, they current players,
- 16:34Speaker 3: you know, staff, And so for me, this show is
- 16:37Speaker 3: really for the fans. Are people who want to become
- 16:40Speaker 3: a part of you know, part of the nation, like you, right,
- 16:45Speaker 3: so we need you.
- 16:49Speaker 2: On.
- 16:49Speaker 3: The Raiders don't hit as hard as Black and Goal.
- 16:52Speaker 3: I mean, and look, bro, you know I love New Orleans.
- 16:55Speaker 3: I played in New Orleans, you know, But I think
- 16:59Speaker 3: you should finish your career with the Raiders because once
- 17:03Speaker 3: a Raider, always a Raider, you know what I mean,
- 17:06Speaker 3: Like you ain't when you retire. Yeah, you're not going
- 17:10Speaker 3: to a Saints game, Oh.
- 17:12Speaker 1: For sure, I am. I'm in there forever. Of course,
- 17:15Speaker 1: of course you're gonna.
- 17:16Speaker 3: But what I'm saying, when you go in the game,
- 17:18Speaker 3: they don't give you Lobster, don't give you prime, they
- 17:23Speaker 3: don't give you gear.
- 17:24Speaker 1: When you walk in, we.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Get boot and baby, don't get man.
- 17:29Speaker 3: They don't charter you places. They don't have a whole
- 17:32Speaker 3: suite for you, the whole alumni. You know, I'm not
- 17:37Speaker 3: I'm not saying New Orleans don't, but they ain't got
- 17:39Speaker 3: it because you know, I'll be over there now. The
- 17:42Speaker 3: Raiders you go back there, oh man, it's like, yeah,
- 17:45Speaker 3: you're still playing.
- 17:48Speaker 2: You know what they do show a lot of love
- 17:49Speaker 2: to the level what I say, like different, but I see,
- 17:54Speaker 2: you know a lot of guys in there. You know,
- 17:56Speaker 2: I just over there. I would justin t them, let's
- 18:01Speaker 2: just go to die, like they got to get out
- 18:02Speaker 2: to go and go back to what you know, devout
- 18:04Speaker 2: Adams the Raiders, like I'm out and he still love
- 18:07Speaker 2: the Raters, does he ask him?
- 18:10Speaker 1: No matter what type of time you.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Had, and you always like, yeah, you ain't gonna get
- 18:16Speaker 3: no better love from a.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Raiter fan like you. To include Pe Carroll.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Uh yeah, yeah, absolutely, like coach had a rival school
- 18:27Speaker 3: USC type.
- 18:29Speaker 5: Well the USC thing, we don't even yeah, we just
- 18:37Speaker 5: yeah you talking about that and see stuff.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Okay, stay tuned, We'll be right back. How's your assessment
- 18:47Speaker 1: of the Raiders team this year?
- 18:49Speaker 3: You know what, I was very very optimistic coming into
- 18:53Speaker 3: the year. For very optimistic Carol. You got Pete Carroll,
- 18:58Speaker 3: we got news Gen Smith. Yeah, you know I loved
- 19:01Speaker 3: a p I love the way, like you know, I
- 19:04Speaker 3: just felt that he brought he brought a certain type
- 19:06Speaker 3: of meanness and grittiness. And then I thought, you know,
- 19:10Speaker 3: Pete could come in and just take what we had,
- 19:12Speaker 3: professionalize it, you know, and we gotta live with what
- 19:15Speaker 3: with what Pete?
- 19:17Speaker 1: You know? And spy tech Bill.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Yeah, And so coming into the season, you look at
- 19:21Speaker 3: our picks. We we did good in the draft. We
- 19:26Speaker 3: have some good returning players. So I had high just
- 19:29Speaker 3: like all Rader fans, we got high expectations a year
- 19:33Speaker 3: or somehow. But what I will say about the Raiders, where.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Does his faith come from? Uh?
- 19:39Speaker 2: You talked about the Super Bowls one in l A.
- 19:42Speaker 2: And that's that's the last one. That was a long
- 19:43Speaker 2: time ago. But you gotta have faith.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Hey, bro, you know right now, and I got faith.
- 19:52Speaker 1: You gotta have I got faith.
- 19:54Speaker 2: You don't go out there you see.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Okay, we but it is different.
- 20:03Speaker 3: But I you know, I thought that that and I
- 20:06Speaker 3: still think right just as a Raider fan, I'm always hopeful.
- 20:11Speaker 3: So when I'm looking at this season and thinking about,
- 20:14Speaker 3: like just as a professional athlete my career, how did
- 20:17Speaker 3: that feel?
- 20:18Speaker 1: What did that feel like?
- 20:19Speaker 3: New coast, new GM, new players, new players at all
- 20:23Speaker 3: the key positions that you.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Need minus the defense because you got Max Crossing. Yeah,
- 20:27Speaker 1: we got Max, but Bowers is his second year, you
- 20:33Speaker 1: know what I mean. And so.
- 20:35Speaker 3: Yeah, so you think about, Okay, a rookie comes in
- 20:38Speaker 3: and goes off the charts, but he's still a rookie.
- 20:42Speaker 1: He still got to get acclimated to all the things.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Now, you got to get acclimated to a new coach,
- 20:47Speaker 3: new team, new quarterback after an explosive year, and you
- 20:52Speaker 3: got a new running back, and you got a new
- 20:54Speaker 3: coach and you got a new quarterbacks. So everything is
- 20:57Speaker 3: kind of new, and it's a lot of times it's
- 21:01Speaker 3: tough to change cities, right and adopt a whole new
- 21:06Speaker 3: system and have a routine and figure out who you're
- 21:10Speaker 3: going to be because it's just a short window.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Now.
- 21:14Speaker 3: I look at the Raiders and I say, okay, our
- 21:16Speaker 3: record is what two and seven? We could easily be
- 21:20Speaker 3: you know, four and three or three and four. You know, well,
- 21:23Speaker 3: four and three for sure. I'm like, y'all, yeah, we.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Could easily be seven and three, and we're sitting at
- 21:36Speaker 2: two and eight.
- 21:37Speaker 1: I'm like, brother, we've been in this thing.
- 21:39Speaker 3: Yeah, every game, Right, you look at a couple, you know,
- 21:41Speaker 3: a block field goal, you know, just a couple like
- 21:46Speaker 3: it's almost like you a couple of plays away from
- 21:49Speaker 3: being in a different position and being able to fight
- 21:53Speaker 3: to earn your slot into like a playoff position or
- 21:57Speaker 3: to show promise during the season.
- 21:59Speaker 1: And so you know that can turn anyway. And I
- 22:01Speaker 1: look at.
- 22:02Speaker 3: It as there's there's there's a lack of familiarity, right,
- 22:08Speaker 3: and there is an acceleration of trying to build system, camaraderie,
- 22:13Speaker 3: team talent, and discovery. So I'm rolling with the Raiders.
- 22:18Speaker 3: I'm not I'm mad at our record, right, but I'm
- 22:23Speaker 3: not mad at the at the effort at what we're
- 22:28Speaker 3: trying to get to, because we got you. Sometimes you
- 22:31Speaker 3: got to hit rock bottom or sometimes you gotta be
- 22:33Speaker 3: at the bottom to recognize yeah, man, And then when
- 22:36Speaker 3: you when you I remember in basketball, you're going to
- 22:39Speaker 3: eight game, five game loser streak and the coach walk
- 22:42Speaker 3: in the locker room and say, hey man, when you're
- 22:44Speaker 3: tired of losing, we.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Won't lose no more.
- 22:48Speaker 3: And all that is is like figuring out how do
- 22:50Speaker 3: we finish these fourth quarters?
- 22:52Speaker 1: Right?
- 22:53Speaker 3: How do you win games? What's as a unit exact
- 22:58Speaker 3: from here? What is our common cozi? Like, hey man,
- 23:01Speaker 3: we gotta go do something crazy, and.
- 23:04Speaker 2: So you not even something crazy like the nuances of
- 23:07Speaker 2: we're always in the game to the fourth quarter and
- 23:09Speaker 2: somewhere in the fourth quarter, this is, this is, this
- 23:12Speaker 2: is this is the penalties that we've had in the
- 23:14Speaker 2: fourth quarter versus the other team. Or this is the
- 23:16Speaker 2: turnovers that happened the fourth quarter versus the other team,
- 23:18Speaker 2: or this is where we don't get touchdowns and it's
- 23:21Speaker 2: just field goals and the other team is completing.
- 23:24Speaker 3: For first down, a misstackle in first a miss assignment,
- 23:28Speaker 3: like I almost have the quarterback exact.
- 23:30Speaker 1: There's always point, they point and he's like, dang, he's right,
- 23:35Speaker 1: you know. For like for the Saints, like for some reason.
- 23:37Speaker 2: We start off slow, but we're en hot, but we're
- 23:40Speaker 2: coming out of a hole second quarter.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Yeah, like no, if we can get the lead. In fact,
- 23:45Speaker 1: the two games we've gotten the lead, bingo, that's our wins. Ingo.
- 23:48Speaker 3: So it is figuring out, you know, are are we
- 23:53Speaker 3: a hot starting team? And came finished? Are we good
- 23:56Speaker 3: to the third quarter? Came finished?
- 23:58Speaker 1: You know? Are we arable? You know? Uh? In the beginning, and.
- 24:04Speaker 2: I think you need to go ahead and give him
- 24:05Speaker 2: the speech that we believe speech from back of the gap. Ye.
- 24:10Speaker 2: When Obama came through, everybody had to believe. I was
- 24:14Speaker 2: still like, I was still like I was back at
- 24:16Speaker 2: being a Sun's fan, but I was still a part
- 24:18Speaker 2: of the Warriors.
- 24:19Speaker 1: I was like, you have to we believe. I was like, yo,
- 24:20Speaker 1: we believe. It's tough.
- 24:22Speaker 2: I was like, you said, you got to sort of
- 24:23Speaker 2: take that back to the retality. Tell me about that,
- 24:26Speaker 2: tell me like, like just it was my my lambot,
- 24:31Speaker 2: my range er was black, my Lambo's blue, my president president.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Black, the Warriors, Warriors had that. We believe. I was
- 24:38Speaker 1: going crazy. What happened for you guys to take over
- 24:42Speaker 1: that way? We people gave up on us. Mhm.
- 24:48Speaker 3: Nelly literally said he walked in the locker room and
- 24:52Speaker 3: he was like, man, you know, I am happy we
- 24:55Speaker 3: make the trade.
- 24:58Speaker 1: You know, we just finished out the season. See what
- 25:00Speaker 1: we got.
- 25:00Speaker 3: But like you know, I do like the pieces that
- 25:04Speaker 3: we have here in the team that we have here,
- 25:05Speaker 3: but I don't expect anything.
- 25:09Speaker 1: We're not going to make the playoffs.
- 25:11Speaker 3: You know, let's just figure out, you know, how we
- 25:14Speaker 3: can get some chemistry and see what we look like
- 25:16Speaker 3: head him into the season.
- 25:18Speaker 1: He said, this preseason.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Man, he said this during the middle of the season.
- 25:22Speaker 3: I was, oh, yeah, y'all was in the in the ringer.
- 25:25Speaker 3: Y'all was in the middle of the fight.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Man. We had just come out of All Start.
- 25:28Speaker 3: We just made the trade, and then like we were like,
- 25:32Speaker 3: really not that good.
- 25:33Speaker 1: I get hurt.
- 25:35Speaker 3: And so when he said that, I was like, man, well,
- 25:37Speaker 3: I might as well just get this little surgery on
- 25:39Speaker 3: my knee right before All Start weekend, so at least
- 25:43Speaker 3: I can come back and you know, we can finish
- 25:45Speaker 3: the last twenty twenty five games strong. And so when
- 25:50Speaker 3: I came back, I was like, look, man, we like
- 25:52Speaker 3: to party, we like to hang out, we like to
- 25:56Speaker 3: have a good time. How about we take everything how
- 26:01Speaker 3: cool we are here, and let's act like that on
- 26:04Speaker 3: the court, right, Let's take the club, right, let's take
- 26:08Speaker 3: this big, let's take.
- 26:10Speaker 1: All that, and now that's who you are.
- 26:14Speaker 3: And so we start giving each other nicknames and sticking
- 26:18Speaker 3: to the nicknames and persona and we were just like
- 26:21Speaker 3: really building that chemistry through a persona.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Like we're young.
- 26:25Speaker 3: We were young, were small, we scrappy, but you ain't
- 26:29Speaker 3: gonna punk us, you know what I mean? We were
- 26:32Speaker 3: going to the hole. We're gonna dunk. We're gonna do
- 26:34Speaker 3: whatever we want to do out here, and we're gonna
- 26:37Speaker 3: make y'all have to figure out who's the right person
- 26:41Speaker 3: that's gonna beat.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Us, Right, y'all squeaked into the playoffs.
- 26:43Speaker 3: Yeah, we squeaked into the We won like twenty three
- 26:46Speaker 3: twenty We went like twenty three and four something like
- 26:48Speaker 3: that to get in the.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Playoffs, and then we wound up playing Dallas.
- 26:53Speaker 3: And you know, Dallas was a team that we were
- 26:56Speaker 3: we had beat before the trade, so we had Dallas
- 27:00Speaker 3: number for some strange reason, and the world was like nah.
- 27:06Speaker 3: Soon as soon as we saw we had Dallas. I
- 27:09Speaker 3: never forget. Nellie came into practice and I've never seen
- 27:12Speaker 3: him this alert in his life, and he was like, Yeah,
- 27:14Speaker 3: we're gonna beat them. Don't say nothing in the media.
- 27:18Speaker 3: This is how we're gonna beat them. Right, be humble
- 27:22Speaker 3: and do not be cocky. Just basically just says, if
- 27:27Speaker 3: all they props, were gonna beat them, and when we
- 27:29Speaker 3: beat them, give them props. Just keep giving props, keep
- 27:31Speaker 3: giving them props. And when we sat down, we knew
- 27:35Speaker 3: one we wanted. We wanted to play Dallas because Dallas
- 27:38Speaker 3: could have eliminated us by beating the Clippers and choosing
- 27:42Speaker 3: to play the Clippers.
- 27:44Speaker 1: They chose to play all their starters.
- 27:46Speaker 3: They beat the Clippers, then they sat all the starters
- 27:49Speaker 3: against us. So for us, we coming into the game
- 27:54Speaker 3: to the arena like, oh, it's cracking, dude, Like my
- 27:57Speaker 3: whole season about to be making break on this game.
- 28:00Speaker 3: We got the number one team, you know what I mean,
- 28:02Speaker 3: it's prime time, man. Let's let's let's go. Either I'm
- 28:05Speaker 3: gonna be put out my misery or we gonna make
- 28:08Speaker 3: or we if we win this game, we gotta win
- 28:10Speaker 3: one more to make the playoffs. And when we got
- 28:13Speaker 3: to the game, we saw they scratched all the dudes,
- 28:17Speaker 3: no dirt, disrespect, no Jason Terry.
- 28:21Speaker 1: What hey, bro, what are y'all saying? No jets jets crazy?
- 28:26Speaker 1: They was all in street clubs. So we got pissed.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Oh man, this is how y'all gonna treat us.
- 28:33Speaker 3: Y'all get serious, y'all, y'all ain't gonna come up with
- 28:36Speaker 3: the whole during the game.
- 28:38Speaker 1: You know we're blowing them out.
- 28:40Speaker 3: But during the game, every time we scored, were looking
- 28:42Speaker 3: over there like, man, it's like oh y'all want this,
- 28:45Speaker 3: y'all want let us take care of this this next game, y'all.
- 28:48Speaker 3: You know this we got and this is what y'all wanted. Dog,
- 28:51Speaker 3: this is what y'all wanted. Y'all hell of disrespectful, you know. Yah,
- 28:56Speaker 3: y'all held absolute chip on the shoulder hood of us
- 28:58Speaker 3: out our misery come, you know, yeah, with your full arsenal,
- 29:03Speaker 3: absolutely respect me as a man like.
- 29:05Speaker 1: We in this ring.
- 29:06Speaker 3: I don't been in games where you know, you gotta
- 29:08Speaker 3: win the game and make it in the playoffs, and like,
- 29:10Speaker 3: you know, that's I think that's what your career, that's
- 29:13Speaker 3: what careers, how careers get made, right, And so you know,
- 29:17Speaker 3: fortunately they did no doubt around the first around that
- 29:24Speaker 3: that they couldn't match up with us.
- 29:27Speaker 6: All right, Oh Sam, I just got to college. I remember,
- 29:30Speaker 6: like I'm in that thing. I was like, man, it
- 29:32Speaker 6: goes crazy. Uh, y'all y'all beat them. Then, you know,
- 29:36Speaker 6: the next round then we lost to Utah. But yeah,
- 29:39Speaker 6: but you had that stupid though.
- 29:40Speaker 2: He was like it was it was one of them
- 29:42Speaker 2: poster joints on the big fell over there. It was
- 29:45Speaker 2: a moment, Oh my gosh, you you dumped over what
- 29:49Speaker 2: was a big dude over there care Lincoln, but no doubt.
- 29:54Speaker 2: All right, I'm thinking about, Uh, what's it like, you know,
- 29:59Speaker 2: playing in LA with the Clippers go back to the
- 30:02Speaker 2: crib man.
- 30:03Speaker 3: That was crazy because Donald Staling was still an owner.
- 30:07Speaker 3: Uh that was some crazy times.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Man.
- 30:10Speaker 3: I I was like the first time in my career
- 30:13Speaker 3: where I felt like.
- 30:16Speaker 1: This is this is not the NBA. It's like the NBA.
- 30:20Speaker 3: And then whatever the hell we doing over here was
- 30:24Speaker 3: like masquerading as an NBA team, And so it was
- 30:30Speaker 3: just it was chaos, Like it was hard to play
- 30:32Speaker 3: at home because you know, Mike Dunleavy, the coach, Mike
- 30:37Speaker 3: Dunlevy called out plays every time.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Hey passable to him?
- 30:42Speaker 3: Hey like he over there that whole drive man backseat driver,
- 30:49Speaker 3: Hey hedmn there he got his hand.
- 30:51Speaker 1: On the wheel. I got he got his hand on
- 30:54Speaker 1: the wheel.
- 30:54Speaker 3: The whole time. So it's you know, I'm a point guard,
- 30:58Speaker 3: I'm Mark. I know how to affect the game the
- 31:03Speaker 3: way I play. But it was for him, he was
- 31:06Speaker 3: really about like he wanted he wanted control, so he
- 31:10Speaker 3: wanted certain players to sean or he won certain players
- 31:15Speaker 3: to get the ball so he can go and say, well,
- 31:18Speaker 3: you know, Baron's not doing this, but this guy is
- 31:20Speaker 3: doing this. But it's like, okay, he wouldn't be doing
- 31:23Speaker 3: that if he didn't right get the ball. So I
- 31:26Speaker 3: kind of struggled my first year. Then my second year,
- 31:28Speaker 3: I had a really good year with the Clippers. I
- 31:30Speaker 3: think it was probably one of the most underrated years
- 31:33Speaker 3: I had. And then you know, I got traded. We
- 31:39Speaker 3: started the Live City. I always tell people, like, you know,
- 31:42Speaker 3: we beat was the point guard when Love City Star started, right,
- 31:46Speaker 3: we was throwing lobs. They din weren't even throwing lives.
- 31:48Speaker 3: And they you know, got really good. They got really good,
- 31:51Speaker 3: start playing basketball, kicking people ass.
- 31:55Speaker 1: But like the Clippers, it was cool. I got a
- 31:57Speaker 1: chance to be home. It was it was weird and
- 31:59Speaker 1: different cool.
- 32:00Speaker 2: Because in terms of l A, we know the effects
- 32:04Speaker 2: that you know, there's the Lakers, right and then little
- 32:08Speaker 2: bro Clippers.
- 32:09Speaker 3: Yeah, like we was a little bro but we was
- 32:11Speaker 3: we was we wanted accepting it. When I got to
- 32:14Speaker 3: the Clippers, we want accepting a little bro thing.
- 32:17Speaker 1: We was trying to beat the Lakers.
- 32:19Speaker 3: And you know, the Clippers were always the laughing stock
- 32:24Speaker 3: of l A. When they when the Clippers and the
- 32:26Speaker 3: Lakers played, and so I remember sitting in the locker
- 32:29Speaker 3: and I was like, man, if we can become good
- 32:32Speaker 3: enough to beat these dudes and stand up to these dudes,
- 32:35Speaker 3: you know, like we can carve our space for ourselves.
- 32:38Speaker 3: He was guarding Fisher at the time. No, Kobe would.
- 32:46Speaker 3: I used to have to guard all the top dogs.
- 32:49Speaker 3: And you know, I'm a little dude.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Right.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Kobe on team Mac Brandon Roy in La alone, you
- 33:02Speaker 2: are the Clippers, you gotta guard guard Kobe? Did it
- 33:04Speaker 2: hit different La La? At the crib going against the
- 33:07Speaker 2: crib team?
- 33:08Speaker 1: Nah?
- 33:08Speaker 3: I mean it was fun like I always, you know,
- 33:11Speaker 3: like one thing, when it was time to play against
- 33:13Speaker 3: the Lakers, I was I was gonna do it my way,
- 33:17Speaker 3: you know what I mean, I was gonna do it
- 33:19Speaker 3: my way because I one just the ultimate respect for
- 33:23Speaker 3: like Kobe and the Lakers, and obviously growing up in
- 33:26Speaker 3: LA being a Laker, you always want to put on
- 33:29Speaker 3: when you play for the Lakers. You know, it's Baron
- 33:31Speaker 3: Davis fans, but it's also a Laker fans. So people
- 33:34Speaker 3: was rooting for me that way, and we just needed
- 33:37Speaker 3: to be able to stand up to him. So, you know,
- 33:39Speaker 3: if I show that I can get with Kobe or
- 33:43Speaker 3: I'm having a good game and I'm not you know,
- 33:45Speaker 3: like I'm not intimidated, and it would kind of start value. Yeah,
- 33:50Speaker 3: because you know, sports is just a little bit of
- 33:53Speaker 3: confidence and you never know who's gonna show up to
- 33:58Speaker 3: be the turning point at the game. And so we
- 34:00Speaker 3: start actually like winning some of the games against the Lakers,
- 34:04Speaker 3: little fights skirvishes at the end of the game, Hey facts,
- 34:08Speaker 3: you know. Yeah, we started to like take this little
- 34:11Speaker 3: bro like, yeah, we're not getting punk no more, right,
- 34:14Speaker 3: And so I think it built a fight for the Clippers,
- 34:18Speaker 3: which then start to build a rivalry. And now the
- 34:21Speaker 3: Clippers are, you know, have won the majority of the
- 34:26Speaker 3: rival games over.
- 34:27Speaker 1: The last three or four years.
- 34:29Speaker 2: I'm glad to hear that because I'm a Laker hater,
- 34:31Speaker 2: you know imhood. You know, I say, we already know
- 34:38Speaker 2: you got the you know, the host, the TV host,
- 34:42Speaker 2: the pod for the Raiders, You've got the you know,
- 34:44Speaker 2: you've got the music dropping.
- 34:46Speaker 1: What else you got going on? I mean, like I said,
- 34:48Speaker 1: we talked. We first met with over some cryptos. Yeah,
- 34:51Speaker 1: we was talking about crypto. Uh, what am I working on?
- 34:55Speaker 2: Man?
- 34:55Speaker 3: I'm just really working on on the business side, just
- 34:58Speaker 3: bringing in athletes, entrepreneurs c suite so you know, kind
- 35:04Speaker 3: of running my own venture studio, and my platform is
- 35:08Speaker 3: called Business Inside the Game. So I built this membership
- 35:12Speaker 3: collective and membership club for investors, athletes, so everybody can
- 35:17Speaker 3: have kind of like a cool just how we build right,
- 35:22Speaker 3: everybody cool, everybody successful and like the best way you
- 35:25Speaker 3: get deals or the best way you get the best advice. Yeah,
- 35:30Speaker 3: being a collective and seeking the advice of masterminds. So
- 35:34Speaker 3: I've been playing these like Mastermind retreats and going all
- 35:37Speaker 3: over there.
- 35:38Speaker 2: You know you ain't never told me nothing about no Mess.
