- 0:01Hey. Everybody, welcome to the Good
- 0:03Morning from the Chicken Coop podcast.
- 0:05My name is Kim Johnson and I am a mastermindset, coach, creative
- 0:08strategist, and also happened to be a farmer.
- 0:11This is my Chicken coop and I come out here.
- 0:13Every day to record a podcast to.
- 0:15Teach distinctions, possibilities, new ways of
- 0:18thinking, and just bring some. Joy into the world.
- 0:21So welcome to the coop and let's start your day off in a
- 0:24fantastic way. Hey, everybody.
- 0:28Good morning. This morning I noticed when I
- 0:32woke up and I'm it's dark, it's very early and I'm sitting there
- 0:37and I'm running through the To Do List in my head.
- 0:41And I think most of us start our days this way and we don't start
- 0:46off with kind words, focused, saying things, mantras to
- 0:51ourselves that make us be kind to ourselves right away.
- 0:55I usually do. I would say about maybe 7580% of
- 0:59the time that's what I do. But this morning I woke up and I
- 1:03had this underlying anxiety that showed up with me this morning.
- 1:09That's I, I can't, I mean, you hear me talk about the fact that
- 1:12I've lived my life with anxiety, but it doesn't usually show up
- 1:15first thing in the morning. Except all of us are in the face
- 1:18of that winter storm. And here where I live, we don't
- 1:23have any equipment for this. So we don't know how far it's
- 1:25coming and we don't know where it's going to hit.
- 1:27And I at least last night they were saying it was still
- 1:30evolving. So I woke up feeling like
- 1:33someone had set my hair on fire to get my butt out the door
- 1:37quickly so that I could do all I chores as quickly as I could as
- 1:41soon as I was finished with coaching today, because today's
- 1:45a shorter day. And I'm like, Oh my gosh, I got
- 1:47to do that. And my head was like, and I felt
- 1:50the pressure and I realized that this is one of those things that
- 1:56I have control of in my head. I can do it like my hair's on
- 2:00fire, or I can stop and pause and take a breath and I can
- 2:03focus on I have more than enough time.
- 2:06That is one of my favorite phrases to say to myself.
- 2:08I have more than enough time. As is the phrase of if I'm going
- 2:13to argue for my limitations, I have to argue for my greatness.
- 2:16So I have to see things as I want them to be, but I have to
- 2:20repeat them to myself so that my brain will slow down and calm
- 2:24down. And I wanted to share that with
- 2:27you because I know I'm not the only person that has this
- 2:29happen, but I do know I control it better than most people
- 2:33because of what I do for a living and because I've I've
- 2:36struggled with it for so long. So today is your reminder.
- 2:40Are you being kind to yourself? Are you saying nice things in
- 2:43your head when you get up in the morning?
- 2:45How are you starting that day? So immediately, as soon as I
- 2:48realized what was going on, I ran out here to the garage to
- 2:52record this so that you could all hear it right raw as it
- 2:56happened. And you could say, all right, am
- 2:58I being kind to myself? Am I saying kind things?
- 3:00Or am I setting my hair on fire? So just pause right now.
- 3:05We're going to end quickly. You're going to pause and you're
- 3:08going to think to yourself, OK, how am I going to talk to
- 3:11myself? What are the things I'm going to
- 3:12say? What do I choose?
- 3:13What do I want to focus on? And I think most of us can adopt
- 3:17my little phrase of I have more than enough time, but then also
- 3:20say, I got this, I got this, this is great.
- 3:23I got this, I got this and just keep telling yourself those
- 3:28positive things as much as you're willing to tell yourself
- 3:31those negative things. All right, my friends, I'm off
- 3:34to go beat the storm and hopefully get everything with
- 3:38absolute ease and grace because that's what I'm focused on and I
- 3:42will see you all tomorrow. Bye.
