Raffy Farber brings up something very interesting about silver,
• 0:05
and we've been hearing a lot about this lately, but he puts a
• 0:08
bit of a new spin on it. It says trading volume in silver
• 0:13
future futures drops off the proverbial, proverbial Cliff
• 0:19
following open interest. This is interesting, OK, Trading
• 0:23
volume has been collapsing. We're going to look at some more
• 0:25
data on that as well. But why is this actually a good
• 0:30
thing for the silver price? He says.
• 0:32
I've been tracking open interest but not volume so much.
• 0:35
Well, trading volume in silver futures has just dropped to the
• 0:40
lowest level since 2007 at at less than 27,000 contracts
• 0:47
traded for the day. We've not seen this number at
• 0:50
all in nearly 20 years. I drew a black line where the
• 0:54
volume is now. See the top right corner for the
• 0:56
exact number. And here's the chart that he's
• 0:59
talking about. Guys, we are way down here, OK?
• 1:05
In terms of silver Futures Trading volume, look at where
• 1:09
it's been over the last number of years.
• 1:11
That is a like massive collapse. Why is that important?
• 1:16
He says with open interest at Erie Lowe's and now trading
• 1:19
volume dead in the water, the Silver's futures market is not
• 1:23
equipped to handle a sudden burst of demand.
