- 0:11Hello friends, it's Sean here. It's Friday.
- 0:15Happy Friday to you. It is the 9th of the 8th.
- 0:18It is the day after International Infinity Day.
- 0:21Does that mean that we somehow snuck around the side of the
- 0:25space time continuum and here we are on the other side of
- 0:29Infinity? Wow.
- 0:31Hello friend. You look awfully intergalactic
- 0:34today. I hope you are going well and
- 0:36that at the end of this week you have got a moment to breathe as
- 0:40you look ahead to the weekend and as we do every Friday, we
- 0:44read a Psalm together and we are continuing up that most
- 0:49excellent and long, long hill leading up to Jerusalem.
- 0:55I wonder if any of you have climbed Mount Fuji.
- 0:57It is a weird experience. It's like 3600 metres and the
- 1:01whole way up you can see the beginning and you can see the
- 1:05end. So it doesn't really look like
- 1:07you're going anywhere. And you walk for hours and hours
- 1:10and the the destination doesn't seem any closer up ahead and the
- 1:14origin doesn't seem any further down below.
- 1:16And you just keep walking through the night.
- 1:20Eventually you get there. So that's good.
- 1:22So eventually we will get to Jerusalem, but we are still
- 1:25pilgrims ascending up that hill to Jerusalem.
- 1:29So this is another one of these psalms.
- 1:31It's brief and we will read these words, sing this hymn,
- 1:37share this poem together with Saints throughout time as we
- 1:41read together Psalm 126, when the Lord brought back his
- 1:56exiles to Jerusalem, it was like a dream.
- 2:00We were filled with laughter and we sang for joy, and the other
- 2:05nations said what amazing things the Lord has done for them.
- 2:12Yes, the Lord has done amazing things for us.
- 2:15What joy restore our fortunes, Lord.
- 2:20As streams renew the desert, those who plant in tears will
- 2:25harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant
- 2:30their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.
- 2:45Ah Lord, thank you for these words of encouragement, that
- 2:49even though when we do the hard work for your Kingdom, it can
- 2:53feel so tricky, like we are weeping bitter tears.
- 2:59But here you tell us that what work gets done in your Kingdom
- 3:03is never lost and will grow by the miraculous presence of your
- 3:08spirit and do incredible things with you and for your Kingdom.
- 3:15So we just take heart and we continue to live as your
- 3:21servants, doing the small things that you put in front of us and
- 3:25ask us to do so that you can do miraculous things with them and
- 3:30bring about a great harvest for your Word.
- 3:35Because a harvest for Your Word means, Lord, that more people
- 3:39get to live in the sure knowledge of Your love and
- 3:41forgiveness for them. And that is the transformative
- 3:45truth that we wish our world could grasp and be truly
- 3:49transformed by. We love You, and we are grateful
- 3:55for your forgiveness and your undeserved lavish love that you
- 4:00give us. We pray all of this in your
- 4:03name, Jesus, Amen.
