- 0:12Here we go. It's the third hour of the Morning Show with Preston Scott.
- 0:15I'm Preston. That's Grant Allen running the show, and it's program number
- 0:19fifty seventy seven. That's right, five thy seventy seven, Thursday, January
- 0:24eighteenth. They'll chili out there, so be mindful of the temperatures because a
- 0:29lot of you aren't used to it being this chili here. Appropriate weather related
- 0:35things taking center stage on the program this week, and we are joined by
- 0:40a familiar voice, a good friend of the program, Greg Wrdstone. He's
- 0:44a geologist by trade now author as well. He was the author of the
- 0:49best selling book Inconvenient Facts. Now it's a very convenient warming the new book.
- 0:54Greg, how long after writing the first book did you come to the
- 0:58conclusion you needed to write the second? Well, yeah, you know,
- 1:00it as a gradual evolution. When we've talked over we've talked quite regularly over
- 1:07gee, what's it been five six years? Yeah, And you know when
- 1:11we talk I always go back to there is no climate crisis. But really,
- 1:15this has been an evolution for me and the CO two coalition is not
- 1:19only is there not a climate crisis, but boy, by every metric you
- 1:25look at, Earth's ecosystems and humanity are benefiting from modest warming and more.
- 1:30Co Two, it's this huge I call it the greatest untold story of the
- 1:37twenty first century. It's the story of a thriving Earth. It's completely an
- 1:42opposition to what we're being told. We're being told regularly in new uncertain terms,
- 1:49that we're going into a climate crisis, a climate disaster, that rising
- 1:55seas will swallow islands and heat waves will increase and people will die. And
- 2:00boy, just as you look into it in each one of these allegations,
- 2:05if you actually look at it, just the opposite's happening. It's you know,
- 2:10I've got the book in three sections. In the last section is life
- 2:15is good in getting better, And I start with my quote from Frank Sinatra,
- 2:19the best is yet to come. And that's what we see. It's
- 2:24it's hard, it's hard to argue about this against this because the facts are
- 2:30stark and uplifting actually, but yet we find ourselves needing a book like this.
- 2:38Now, you know, Greg, I'm I'm a little bit different from
- 2:43you in that I'm still not convinced we're warming all that much. Because the
- 2:47temperatures, you know, they give us faulty numbers based on where they place
- 2:53the temperature reading devices. I mean, I don't feel like we ever get
- 2:57really clean data. But if I, if I accept that we're warming,
- 3:00I know, and you know, this is a natural process that Earth has
- 3:04done for well since God made it. Yeah, well, you're right that
- 3:08it's over as. The warming is overstated, But there's absolutely and there's no
- 3:14doubt that were warmer today than we were three hundred years ago, Absolutely no
- 3:19doubt. For example, just we can do. I can go eighteen miles
- 3:22south of where I am in Arlington, Virginia and get down to George Washington's
- 3:27home, and they have an ice house there that he built for Martha.
- 3:30Martha loved ice in her summertime drinks. And every winter he'd have his enslaved
- 3:36workers and some of the adventured service. They could down to the Potomac with
- 3:40big saus and they cut big slabs of ice out of the Potomac okay.
- 3:46And that was in the late seventeen hundreds, And the last time the Potomac
- 3:52froze like that was some twenty five years ago. It occurred every single year
- 3:57at that time because it was a lot colder. And so we can look
- 4:00at historical data like that to say, yeah, maybe they've got the degrees
- 4:05off by five tenths of a degree or something. Maybe we don't have it
- 4:09exact, but there's no doubt in my mind that we are warmer today.
- 4:14And even just taking the data that they're using, we've warmed all about a
- 4:20degree since eighteen fifty one degree centigrade. And that's not too alarming to me.
- 4:30And again, I look back at another section of the book, I
- 4:32look at human history, equate human history to temperature history, and find that
- 4:38the warmer periods were warmer than today, and all of them were hugely beneficial.
- 4:44And that's what we're seeing. For example, you're questioning, I'm not
- 4:49beating you up here, but you're questioning about are we really warming? I've
- 4:54got in the book I capture the growing seasons. The length of growing seasons
- 5:00lower forty eight United States have increased more than two weeks since nineteen hundred,
- 5:04two decades of doing morning drive radio differently doing it his way like old Blue
- 5:11Eyes, except he has a little more hair. The Morning Show with Preston
- 5:15Scott, it's a brand new book. You need to get it. It's
- 5:26the companion to Inconvenient Facts. It's a very convenient warming. How modest warming
- 5:30and more CO two are benefiting humanity? Greg I think if the algores of
- 5:38this world, which clearly they want to make money, they also want to
- 5:41use all of this to control our lives. If they had come out with
- 5:45the idea, hey, you know what, looking three hundred years, over
- 5:47a span of three centuries, we're seeing a modest warming in the climate,
- 5:54and here's what we can do to take advantage of it, we'd beat a
- 5:58whole different discussion different places in the world, wouldn't we Oh, we would.
- 6:01And you know, Michael Mann was one of the climate I'm going to
- 6:06put in air quotes scientists that came out with It was his hockey stick that
- 6:13he created out it's in air. And you know, he was asked,
- 6:16what's the what's the ideal temperature for the planet. He said, well,
- 6:19that's easy, it's what the temperatures were before we started adding CO two to
- 6:25the atmosphere. Well, that would put us squarely in the middle of the
- 6:29temperatures of what was called the Little ice age. That was horrific. It
- 6:32was half the population of Iceland Parish. A third of the population of the
- 6:38world died during that time because mainly of cooler temperatures. Because they had each
- 6:44of these cool periods like that we're associated with crop failure, famine, pestilence,
- 6:48and nasty population and these were horrific. No, no, no history.
- 6:55He would call me, and he does call me a science denier.
- 6:59I would call him the history desire because he's denying what history actually tells us
- 7:04about warming and cooling, and that is that we should welcome the warmth and
- 7:09fear the cold. Again, it's just opposite of what we're being cold.
- 7:12Well, but that's why I wrote this book. But Greg, that's factually
- 7:16borne out every single year in the news cycle when cold snaps kill people and
- 7:24when there's a heat you know, imagine it gets warmer in the summer.
- 7:27Go figure, it's a crazy phenomenon. But the fact of the matter is
- 7:30more people dying cold than they do in heat or warmth. Yeah. The
- 7:34largest study of its kind is done by doctor Antonio Gasprini. He looked at
- 7:40seventy four million temperature related deaths. In that study, he concluded in his
- 7:45team with twenty some scientists are actually doctors around the world. That's twenty times
- 7:50as many people die cold related deaths as heat related deaths. Twenty times.
- 7:56There was another large study that concluded was fifteen times as many people die due
- 8:00to cold as to heat. Well, what does that tell me? That
- 8:03tells me that global warming saves lives? And you know when you say that
- 8:09people's heads exploded, you can't say that, Well, yes I can.
- 8:13And the facts, the facts corroborate that that global warming, another degree or
- 8:20so of warming, it may save millions of lives from premature deaths related to
- 8:26cold. And again, these are things, these are things, you know,
- 8:31say it once more. We should welcome the warmth and fear the cold.
- 8:33And that's what that's what history tells us, that's what the science,
- 8:37effects and the data tell us. It's it's completely I don't know why these
- 8:46people are doing this. Basically, your your listeners are being lied to on
- 8:50a daily basis about a climate change and the dangers of a moderately warmed climate.
- 8:56They're telling us, aren't they. Well, we can't get a degree.
- 9:00You probably heard a degree and a half warmer than it was the beginning
- 9:03of the Industrial Revolution. Well, we've already warmed up one point two degrees.
- 9:09What they're warning us about is three tenths of a degree centegraded warming.
- 9:13That equates to half a degree fahrenheit. If your studio went up or down
- 9:18half a degree while we're talking, you never notice it, it wouldn't trigger
- 9:22the thermostats. And if you're that worried about half a degree fahrenheit of warming,
- 9:28it just moved nineteen miles further north and your average temperature will fall by
- 9:33half a degree fahrenheit. It's just when you look at it and things like
- 9:35this, they're saying, we go, you know, the world's going to
- 9:39come to an end because half of Agrea warming. It's ludicrous, isn't it
- 9:45when you look to put it in that in that context? Absolutely, And
- 9:48that's why we have you on the program, Greg to help us kind of
- 9:50put some context on all this. The book is a very Convenient Warming.
- 9:54Greg Wrightstone is the author. We got more to come with Greg next on
- 9:58The Morning Show with pres In Scott. Final Minutes with Greg Wrightstone. Convenient
- 10:07Warming dot Com. If you want the book before it gets to Amazon,
- 10:13that's where you go. It's not to the Amazon distributors yet so Convenientwarming dot
- 10:20com. The book of Very Convenient Warming. Greg I mentioned to you in
- 10:24the break I have had great fodder out of a story that involves the major
- 10:31resort builders around the world, all of them dropping significant cash investing in new
- 10:39resorts in the Maldives. What's the significance of that. Yeah, well,
- 10:43let's go back to the beginning right now, the un list. If you
- 10:48there's a site where they list the most at risk island nations in the world,
- 10:50and the Maldives in the Indian Ocean head that list is the most at
- 10:54risk island nation. These are series of dozens of ireland and so right now
- 11:01they're talking. You'll see all these prime ministers and presidents of each of these
- 11:07island nations. They're standing with a handout wanting climate reparations because they say their
- 11:13nations will be underwater in a few years. Well, let's take a look
- 11:16at that sea level is rising at a rate of seven inches per year,
- 11:22okay, which is not too alarming. And if we go back the Maldives,
- 11:28the highest point in the island, or of the islands, are fourteen
- 11:31feet above sea level, and so it's not too much to think, well,
- 11:37it will be on the water soon. But let's look back fifteen thousand
- 11:41years ago, the Maldaves were also just above sea level. In that fifteen
- 11:46thousand years, sea level has risen four hundred feet. Well, why aren't
- 11:52those islands under four hundred feet of water. That's because of a geologic process
- 11:58known as a creation the viands. As sea level rises, so do the
- 12:03islands. It's called accretion. It's during storm events that the near shore gravels
- 12:09and sands get swept up onto the island. It's a slow process of accretion.
- 12:13The geology is a slow process, and these islands grow along the sea
- 12:18level. And so what they're telling you is now bear in mind, by
- 12:22twenty fifty at the current level of sea level rise, sea level will have
- 12:28risen two inches, barely to your ankles. And what they're telling you is
- 12:33the last four hundred feet of sea level rise didn't put them under. That
- 12:37next two inches look out, that's going to put them on the water,
- 12:41right, That's what they're telling you. And the other thing is, as
- 12:45we mentioned in the break, if you google Forbes and Maldives, there's a
- 12:50story there about dozens of resort complexes being built. There are three air law
- 12:56airports either under construction or just complete in the nowadays, these are many millions
- 13:01of dollars that are being invested by equity companies and importantly they're being ensured by
- 13:09multinational insurance companies. These insurance companies avoid risk like that plague. If they
- 13:15thought there was any chance that the Maldives and their resorts that they're funding and
- 13:20insuring we're going to be underwater, they'd be running away, not flocking to
- 13:24them. But no, they don't believe it. They're putting their money where
- 13:28their risk is and they know there's no risk of this being underwater. Why
- 13:33isn't this story more broadly told. Well, it's the same for the same
- 13:39reason that the other things we talk about are not broadly. They can't let
- 13:41this information app They have to stifle any science that goes contrary to this mantra
- 13:48of catastrophic CO two driven warming. They need to silence people like me and
- 13:56the other brave scientists of the CO two coalition, as well as those that
- 14:00were on the other side. Greg. I'm sorry to rup, but there
- 14:03are many on the other side of this that have now said yeah, we
- 14:07were wrong. Yeah, well, and there's there resist an article in Politico
- 14:13two days ago that came out about the new science deniers and now they're saying,
- 14:16and it's us that they're talking about, being my new book, and
- 14:20the scientists and the CO two coalition and the new science deniers are saying,
- 14:24well, climate change is actually happening, but it's really beneficial, and that's
- 14:31right, that's what we're saying, and that we can back it up by
- 14:33science, facts and data. And that's the new science denialism that they're talking
- 14:37about, is the fact that it's beneficial. And it is, but it's
- 14:43not the drastic change that Al Gore promised, predicted, told his stories about,
- 14:50lied about. It's the incremental function of the Earth being the Earth,
- 14:54isn't it? It is? And you know we talked about the Earth warm.
- 15:00We're in a warming trend that started more than three hundred years ago,
- 15:05and I'm okay with that again, growing seasons of length and more than two
- 15:09weeks in the continental United States at least to more food production agriculture were agricultural
- 15:18increases are outpacing population growth on this two to one. And it's because of
- 15:24warming more CO two driving plant growth and fossil fuel derived nitrogen fertilizer. Those
- 15:31three things our driving crop production to record breaking levels year after year after year.
- 15:39I captured that in the book. I look at the top eight crops
- 15:43of the world in terms of tonnage produce, and all eight of these you
- 15:46need to see the charts. They're just year after year after year, increasing
- 15:50and breaking new records. And we should celebrate that we're feeding a growing population
- 15:56because of warming. We're co two. Greg, thanks as always for the
- 16:00time. I appreciate it. Thank you, Greg rivestone with us this morning.
- 16:07A very convenient Warming is the name of the book. Convenientwarming dot Com
- 16:11is the website.
