- 0:00Speaker 1: Today's variety Big ninety eight point seven. It's Gabe and Angie.
- 0:05Speaker 1: We have a hive eighty eight today and some sunshine.
- 0:08Speaker 1: It should be a wonderful Friday for us, a wonderful
- 0:10Speaker 1: way to end the work week here and we have
- 0:13Speaker 1: a question. Is there a commercial that just you cannot,
- 0:16Speaker 1: for the life of you, will ever get out of
- 0:18Speaker 1: your head? You have a favorite one? Maybe you say
- 0:21Speaker 1: it in the office halls at work.
- 0:22Speaker 2: That's us with there's a Tutsi pop commercial that Gabe
- 0:27Speaker 2: and I are always walking around the halls quoting for
- 0:31Speaker 2: no reason.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Zero reasons.
- 0:32Speaker 2: It applies to AHD Yeah, and just as I was
- 0:35Speaker 2: stuck in our head. Do you remember this one?
- 0:38Speaker 1: If you were born in the nineties, you one hundred
- 0:40Speaker 1: percent have heard of this. All right, check this out?
- 0:42Speaker 3: Do you remember this, mister rao?
- 0:44Speaker 2: How many licks does it take to get to the tutsirole.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Center of a Toutsi poplitch find out one? How many
- 0:54Speaker 3: looks does it take to get to the center of
- 0:55Speaker 3: a Tutsi pop?
- 0:56Speaker 1: Angie and I'll just be walking around the office.
- 0:59Speaker 2: But a two three reason, no reason, but we can't
- 1:05Speaker 2: get that's just an iconic commercial. We've posed the question
- 1:10Speaker 2: on the Big ninety eight points I've in Facebook page two,
- 1:13Speaker 2: and we got some great responses. Sarah loved this one.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Why that again? I love it?
- 1:28Speaker 3: I don't remember that.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. Me and my sister would always say
- 1:33Speaker 2: it to Pod and me. Do you have any grey poupon? Both?
- 1:36Speaker 3: Of course I did not.
- 1:38Speaker 2: That made me think that mustard was the fanciest condiment
- 1:42Speaker 2: on the planet.
- 1:43Speaker 1: That's right, I know it isn't us fancies like mustard exactly.
- 1:47Speaker 2: They tricked us and then Paige sorry. Sarah also sent
- 1:52Speaker 2: this one in Do you remember this one? Gabe? You're not.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Hard to forget a jingle like that.
- 2:07Speaker 2: I know, it's so good, just the word, yeah, despiculy clean.
- 2:14Speaker 2: We had Zest soap growing up, and because it had
- 2:17Speaker 2: a jingle, I thought, oh, we're rich. And then this one,
- 2:24Speaker 2: I mean, brings back so many memories. Page loves this
- 2:28Speaker 2: iconic commercial. You son of a biscuit eating bulldog with
- 2:33Speaker 2: the French toast. I think I.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Wouldn't find out about your little doodoo head cootie queen.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Are you calling a cootie queen?
- 2:38Speaker 1: You lit liquor litlinger.
- 2:42Speaker 2: That made me want to buy Orbit gum, debty mouth,
- 2:46Speaker 2: clean it up. It was so good.
- 2:48Speaker 3: There's there's one more.
- 2:49Speaker 1: I remember that I loved growing up, and I always
- 2:52Speaker 1: wanted to try using this as a kid. But I
- 2:54Speaker 1: don't even know if I knew how to do it.
- 2:56Speaker 1: But it was a CEO. Will leasy please save a
- 3:01Speaker 1: book or two or three with the.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Collect I got.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Yes, I never got to make a collect call. And
- 3:07Speaker 3: now I don't even know is that a thing?
- 3:09Speaker 2: Is that a thing? Kids? These days, I don't know
- 3:11Speaker 2: anything about collect calls.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I don't know what they're missing. And you had a
- 3:20Speaker 1: pretty big little victory this week. Do you have one
- 3:23Speaker 1: that could match your booth fang move into Fargo?
- 3:27Speaker 2: Oh yes I do. And by the way, if you
- 3:29Speaker 2: have a little victory that you want to share with us,
- 3:31Speaker 2: give us a call seven one two eight one nine
- 3:33Speaker 2: eight seven. We love all the little victories. After three
- 3:37Speaker 2: months of sleeping on an air mattress, I finally have
- 3:43Speaker 2: a bed. So wow, it's not.
- 3:46Speaker 1: A little victory, that's a life changing victory.
- 3:49Speaker 2: I slept so well last night gave I woke up
- 3:53Speaker 2: in the best mood of my life. And it's because
- 3:55Speaker 2: I have a bed now. So my kids been had beds.
- 3:58Speaker 2: But it's like when you're a parent, you put your
- 4:00Speaker 2: children first, right. And when I moved out here, I
- 4:03Speaker 2: just packed up everything I could in my little car
- 4:06Speaker 2: and drove three days to move here to Fargo, North Dakota.
- 4:11Speaker 2: And I could not fit a mattress, and so I
- 4:14Speaker 2: was here, we were all on air mattresses. And then
- 4:17Speaker 2: I was like, let me get the kids situated. So
- 4:19Speaker 2: they've had their beds, and it was just me, no bed,
- 4:23Speaker 2: just an air mattress, ruining my back and my posture
- 4:26Speaker 2: for three months. And then finally, now, now, why did
- 4:29Speaker 2: it take me so long? Because I don't know how
- 4:31Speaker 2: to build a bed frame? And thankfully my blue Fang
- 4:36Speaker 2: lives here now, so he put it together for me,
- 4:39Speaker 2: and it helped me get a mattress. And now now
- 4:43Speaker 2: I'm sleeping like a baby.
- 4:44Speaker 1: You said you're in such a good mood now, you know,
- 4:47Speaker 1: in ninety days, and now I get it.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Yeah, now I get it.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Well, I've been such a month watching in here, being.
- 4:53Speaker 3: So mean to meet. No, I'm just kidding. Well, that's
- 4:56Speaker 3: wonderful news. I'm happy for you.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Thank you. What's your little big gabe? What you got
- 5:01Speaker 2: going on?
- 5:01Speaker 1: Well? It starts off on a negative note. But my
- 5:04Speaker 1: wife will be gone for a few days. She is
- 5:06Speaker 1: off on a bachelorette trip.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Oh, is this the one that's themed Pink Pony Club.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I tell you, these bachelorette and their themes is just
- 5:16Speaker 1: insane to me. But hey, you do you. I'm not
- 5:18Speaker 1: gonna hate on anyone's fun. I'm not going so on
- 5:21Speaker 1: to white care exactly. But yes, she is going to
- 5:23Speaker 1: a bachelorette party this weekend in northern Minnesota. So in
- 5:26Speaker 1: lieu of her leaving, I do have a buddy coming
- 5:29Speaker 1: up this weekend. We're gonna go golf, We're gonna probably
- 5:32Speaker 1: run ragged on the town on Saturday night. Maybe we'll
- 5:36Speaker 1: see uh, maybe we'll go see a show or something.
- 5:38Speaker 1: We'll find out what's going on there. And I'm just
- 5:40Speaker 1: looking forward to having a buddy come to visit, one
- 5:42Speaker 1: of my best friends of all time. But a he's
- 5:45Speaker 1: actually been here before a few times, but it's been
- 5:47Speaker 1: a little bit since we've seen him. So he's gonna
- 5:48Speaker 1: make the make the drive up and just kind of
- 5:50Speaker 1: co parent the dog and the cats with me.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Well, sweet, so romantical. I love this for you.
- 5:57Speaker 1: We were smart though, we are gonna go golf tomorrow.
- 5:59Speaker 1: We're to play Village Green, the course in Moorhead, and
- 6:03Speaker 1: I've played there before.
- 6:04Speaker 3: He is not.
- 6:04Speaker 1: He grew up coming to Fargo and all this stuff
- 6:07Speaker 1: for hockey tournaments as a kid and he drove past
- 6:10Speaker 1: that golf course a billion times. Yeah, never got to
- 6:12Speaker 1: play it. So now he has the opportunity to play it.
- 6:15Speaker 1: We booked that tea time real early tomorrow. We're hoping
- 6:18Speaker 1: to be done before like eleven, realistically done before noon,
- 6:21Speaker 1: but if we could be done around eleven before heat
- 6:24Speaker 1: in dex hits up seven, yeah, So we booked that tea.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Time real early. We're looking forward to that.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Good for you. My kids are not in town right now.
- 6:38Speaker 2: They're in Washington with their dad, and so I haven't
- 6:42Speaker 2: been seeing them every day, which is a bummer. But
- 6:44Speaker 2: I did get to talk to my older one aid
- 6:47Speaker 2: in yesterday, and he was talking about this like a
- 6:52Speaker 2: group of friends of his that they were all gonna
- 6:55Speaker 2: go like walk to the mall or whatever and hang out.
- 6:59Speaker 2: But he was a little bit concerned because some of
- 7:02Speaker 2: the kids are troublemakers and they don't get along. And
- 7:06Speaker 2: even though he's going to be in a big group, like,
- 7:08Speaker 2: he gets worried that there's going to be some sort
- 7:11Speaker 2: of like confrontation or altercation or whatever, and so I
- 7:15Speaker 2: told him to just not go, to avoid it altogether.
- 7:21Speaker 2: And that's because that was something that my mom always
- 7:25Speaker 2: said to me when I was younger, and it was
- 7:29Speaker 2: the piece of advice that I still live by to
- 7:31Speaker 2: this day, which is uh huh, and which means it
- 7:44Speaker 2: means if you avoid the occasion, then you avoid the danger.
- 7:49Speaker 2: So it was always like, if there's a situation that
- 7:51Speaker 2: you could put yourself in that you think could lead
- 7:54Speaker 2: to something bad, something you know, unpleasant, then you just
- 7:58Speaker 2: avoid the occasion altogether, which essentially is like you better
- 8:02Speaker 2: not have fomo, okay, because we're trying to keep you
- 8:05Speaker 2: safe and comfortable. And so that was my advice to him,
- 8:09Speaker 2: and he liked it. He was like, yeah, I just
- 8:11Speaker 2: I'm so stressed about it that I might as well
- 8:13Speaker 2: just not go. And he didn't go, and he had
- 8:15Speaker 2: a fine and dandy day.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Well there you go.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel really good about that. So what is
- 8:20Speaker 2: a piece of advice that your parents gave you that
- 8:25Speaker 2: you still live by to this day? Seven oh one
- 8:26Speaker 2: too eight O one nine eat seven gave. Is there
- 8:29Speaker 2: any advice that you were given that you still use
- 8:32Speaker 2: to this day?
- 8:33Speaker 1: You know, I don't know if this is really advice
- 8:36Speaker 1: or just a smart ace saying okay, and by smart ace,
- 8:41Speaker 1: I mean smart alec.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Oh okay.
- 8:43Speaker 1: My dad used to always say if you were, you know, shoveling,
- 8:48Speaker 1: or if you were snow blowing, or if you were
- 8:51Speaker 1: basically doing anything in existence and for whatever reason something
- 8:57Speaker 1: went wrong or you couldn't figure it out, or you know,
- 9:01Speaker 1: you were struggling with this process. Yeah, he always told us,
- 9:05Speaker 1: you gotta be smarter than the insert thing you're you're using. Right,
- 9:09Speaker 1: So if you were trying to if you're trying to
- 9:13Speaker 1: put together like a toy for your kid, right, they
- 9:15Speaker 1: just got a big one of those cars you're ride
- 9:17Speaker 1: around in, but you got power wheel. Yeah, power wheel,
- 9:20Speaker 1: You got to put it together, and you're struggling trying
- 9:22Speaker 1: to screw in something or whatever. He would always just say, Hey,
- 9:26Speaker 1: you just got to be smarter than the screwdriver and wow.
- 9:29Speaker 1: And I've always remembered that for life a because really
- 9:33Speaker 1: what it means is like, you obviously know how to
- 9:36Speaker 1: do this. What are you getting frustrated at why are
- 9:39Speaker 1: you getting so annoyed? Whatever? Just be smarter than this thing.
- 9:43Speaker 1: And I've never forgot that for whatever reason. So you know,
- 9:47Speaker 1: when you're putting together that new grill, you're excited about
- 9:49Speaker 1: this summer. It's gonna be an eighty eight degrees today. Yeah,
- 9:52Speaker 1: you're excited for summer grilling. And you're getting all mad
- 9:54Speaker 1: because this bolt doesn't fit or the direction suck or whatever.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Just always remember, Hey, you just got to be smarter
- 10:00Speaker 3: than the grill.
- 10:01Speaker 2: I like what you took away from that, because I'm
- 10:05Speaker 2: pretty sure that Greg Glyndon was just being a smart Alex.
- 10:10Speaker 1: I think you're right. You're probably right. We do have
- 10:13Speaker 1: Carter on the phone, though, Carter, what about you? What's
- 10:15Speaker 1: some parent advice you still love by to this day.
- 10:18Speaker 3: My mom, Bilbi, the never settle for a job you hate.
- 10:21Speaker 3: I stuck to that my whole life and it always
- 10:23Speaker 3: served me well. I love what I do and I
- 10:26Speaker 3: have my mom to thank for it. That's wonderful.
- 10:28Speaker 2: That is really good advice.
- 10:30Speaker 3: It's kind of crazy.
- 10:31Speaker 1: They always say life is short, and it you know,
- 10:33Speaker 1: sadly that is the case for some people.
- 10:35Speaker 3: For on this you know, life's pretty long.
- 10:37Speaker 1: It can be long and to work and it or sorry,
- 10:40Speaker 1: it's made long by going to do something you absolutely
- 10:44Speaker 1: hate every single day. So it's worth it investing the
- 10:49Speaker 1: time to try to find something you genuinely enjoy doing.
- 10:52Speaker 2: I like that you and I live by Carter's mom's advice.
- 10:56Speaker 3: Yeah, right right.
- 10:58Speaker 1: We have one more from page page what about you.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Never beg for love or respect? And it stuck and
- 11:05Speaker 2: it saved me a lot of heartache that part. I
- 11:08Speaker 2: learned that lesson fifteen years late, but I finally learned it.
- 11:15Speaker 3: I don't know, Paige.
- 11:16Speaker 1: I think I've been begging for people to love me
- 11:18Speaker 1: here on Big eight point seven for seven months.
- 11:25Speaker 3: The boy, did you ever learn.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Something really cool from TikTok or maybe YouTube? And I
- 11:31Speaker 1: don't mean fun facts, I mean how something, how to
- 11:33Speaker 1: do something right, how to build something, how to create something?
- 11:36Speaker 2: Whatever that is may be maybe a life hack, Yes,
- 11:38Speaker 2: a life hack, my favorite life hack of all time.
- 11:41Speaker 3: I learned I have a really good one.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Okay, well I already started talking, So now I'm concerned
- 11:47Speaker 2: that you're gonna be better than mine. All right, Okay,
- 11:49Speaker 2: this is I will let actually the TikTok speak for itself.
- 11:54Speaker 2: I learned how to properly wrap myself in a towel.
- 11:58Speaker 3: There's something I wish I knew before where I was
- 12:00Speaker 3: in my thirties. How to wrap a towel around myself. Okay,
- 12:04Speaker 3: take the towel, wrap, don't talk, and then just roll down.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Oh you just fold it over.
- 12:11Speaker 2: You fold it over. You just roll it down. Instead
- 12:13Speaker 2: of doing the wrap over and talk, just roll it
- 12:16Speaker 2: down and it stays up. So every time I take
- 12:19Speaker 2: a shower, I wrap myself in the towel, I roll
- 12:22Speaker 2: it down, and then I get ready until it's time
- 12:25Speaker 2: to get dressed, just in a towel, and it works
- 12:27Speaker 2: every time. It's a game changer. And anybody ever in
- 12:31Speaker 2: life that I meet who mentions like, oh yeah, and
- 12:34Speaker 2: then I gotta go home and take a shower, I'm like, oh,
- 12:36Speaker 2: do you know how to wrap yourself in the towel?
- 12:38Speaker 2: It's very annoying, it seems, except for them. They're like, Oh,
- 12:42Speaker 2: I didn't know that.
- 12:43Speaker 3: That's awesome.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Yeah, that's really cool. Yeah, what is yours game? I
- 12:47Speaker 1: built a motorcycle once. I uh this nineteen seventy four
- 12:52Speaker 1: Honda CB four fifty. I basically used YouTube to put
- 12:58Speaker 1: it together.
- 12:59Speaker 2: I'm sorry. I'm sorry. You built a whole motorcycle and
- 13:05Speaker 2: I'm over here. I know how to wear a towel.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Now, I'm just saying different strokes for different folks.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Yeah, No, I put together this motorcycle.
- 13:16Speaker 1: I used YouTube to basically show me little sections, and
- 13:20Speaker 1: just piece by piece, I slowly put this thing together.
- 13:23Speaker 1: I would, you know, try and fail and try and
- 13:25Speaker 1: fail and try and fail again, and then on the
- 13:28Speaker 1: eighth try, I'd get whatever right, or I'd put together
- 13:30Speaker 1: this part right or whatever. So, yeah, I built this
- 13:33Speaker 1: like classic motorcycle that my buddy still rides to this
- 13:36Speaker 1: day via YouTube.
- 13:37Speaker 3: And you know how to wear a towel.
- 13:40Speaker 2: I feel like, did we talk about this so you
- 13:43Speaker 2: could flex? You built a motorcycle, and I'm over here
- 13:47Speaker 2: struggling to keep myself wrapped up in a town. This
- 13:51Speaker 2: is so sad. Seven oh one two eight on one,
- 13:53Speaker 2: nine eighty seven. What did you learn to do from
- 13:57Speaker 2: watching something on social media?
- 13:59Speaker 1: Angie learned how to dry off, which would happen naturally
- 14:04Speaker 1: whether she wanted it to or not.
- 14:10Speaker 2: When you're old, aqut hundred years.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I want to know what is something you hope you
- 14:18Speaker 1: are still doing when you are one hundred years old.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Seven one two eight oh one nine eight seven, call
- 14:26Speaker 2: us let us know what you want to be doing
- 14:29Speaker 2: when you're one hundred years old. For me, Gabe, I
- 14:32Speaker 2: want to still be able to do the splits.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Okay, I think that's pretty cool.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been a goal of mine since I was
- 14:39Speaker 2: a child.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Can you do them now?
- 14:41Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 14:42Speaker 3: Oh? Nice?
- 14:44Speaker 2: Still do the splits?
- 14:45Speaker 3: I would do that to build up to No.
- 14:48Speaker 2: I learned how to do the splits when I was
- 14:49Speaker 2: a kid, and even in my little child brain, I thought,
- 14:53Speaker 2: I hope when I'm really old, I can still do
- 14:55Speaker 2: the splits, And so I always every my birthday's coming up.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Every year on my birth day, I'm like, let me
- 15:01Speaker 2: do the splitz just to make sure I still got it.
- 15:03Speaker 3: You got a double check?
- 15:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I have to double check so I can do
- 15:06Speaker 2: the splits. And I hope that when I'm a hundred
- 15:08Speaker 2: I can still do the splits and not like dislocate
- 15:11Speaker 2: a hip or something.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, right on.
- 15:13Speaker 2: What do you hope to do.
- 15:14Speaker 1: When I'm one hundred years old? I still hope to
- 15:17Speaker 1: be driving my wife insane. My goals still have her
- 15:22Speaker 1: trying to sell me off for twenty bucks.
- 15:25Speaker 2: That's such a great goal. That is I love this
- 15:28Speaker 2: for you. We asked on the big ninety eight point
- 15:31Speaker 2: set in Facebook page, what is something you hope to
- 15:34Speaker 2: still be doing at one hundred years old. Jody's answer
- 15:38Speaker 2: was so wholesome, so sweet, rescuing dogs.
- 15:41Speaker 3: That's beautiful.
- 15:42Speaker 2: That's beautiful.
- 15:43Speaker 3: I love this person, so I yeah, I love.
- 15:45Speaker 2: That, Morrison said, texting my hundred year old friends. Oh
- 15:50Speaker 2: really sweet.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I still want to hit up my buddies and like, hey,
- 15:53Speaker 1: you want to go hit a little eighteen at Whereever
- 15:56Speaker 1: golf course?
- 15:57Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 15:58Speaker 3: Yeah, that's cute.
- 15:58Speaker 2: But then y'all got real spicy, let me tell you.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Williams said, chasing women, go boy. Glory said making love
- 16:10Speaker 2: with my man. I love that. That's a great goal
- 16:16Speaker 2: to have.
- 16:16Speaker 3: I'm happy for you. Lourie. I really liked Rick. I
- 16:20Speaker 3: want to I want to be buddies with Rick.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Okay, what was rix?
- 16:24Speaker 1: Rick said, sipping shots of good bourbon while nursing a
- 16:27Speaker 1: yngling beer and fighting off older cougars who just want
- 16:30Speaker 1: to get in my pants.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Oh my god. Yeah, he's gonna have to fight off
- 16:34Speaker 2: those one hundred and twenty year old women.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Your good news is summer officially starts today. Today will
- 16:49Speaker 1: be the longest day of the year, at least in
- 16:52Speaker 1: the Northern Hemisphere. The summer solstice takes place tonight at
- 16:56Speaker 1: exactly nine two pm. It marks the moment the tilts
- 17:00Speaker 1: towards the sun or the most towards the sun, giving
- 17:04Speaker 1: people living in the Northern Hemisphere the longest day and
- 17:07Speaker 1: the shortest night of the year. I want to know
- 17:10Speaker 1: what you're gonna do to soak up some of that
- 17:12Speaker 1: extra sunlight. Barbecue, evening, walk, checking out one of the
- 17:16Speaker 1: pools here in the FM area. I still gotta go
- 17:18Speaker 1: down the slide at the Island Park Island Park Pool, Yes,
- 17:22Speaker 1: that's a must. I want to go off the long,
