- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Hello, everyone, Welcome back to through another episode of Star
- 0:22Speaker 2: Wars Lions your home on the GIEK Ultimate Alights Podcast
- 0:25Speaker 2: network for any I don't think Star Wars where I'm
- 0:28Speaker 2: your host as always Katie, and with me as per
- 0:32Speaker 2: always is Clay Claire. How are you doing this evening?
- 0:36Speaker 3: I am doing pretty good.
- 0:38Speaker 4: I am very sweaty, engrossed as Texas is, but I
- 0:43Speaker 4: am getting through it. One thing I forgot to ask
- 0:46Speaker 4: you before we actually went live, because you asked me
- 0:49Speaker 4: if I could hear your background. I have the fan
- 0:52Speaker 4: at full blast this time around. Have you heard an
- 0:54Speaker 4: I don't hear you?
- 0:55Speaker 3: Cool? That's amazing. I love it. But yeah, it's been
- 1:01Speaker 3: a fun week. We I.
- 1:06Speaker 4: As I told you, this morning, I had to drop
- 1:08Speaker 4: off my parents at the airport. They're going on vacation
- 1:12Speaker 4: to Cancun. Their flight was supposed to leave at eleven.
- 1:16Speaker 4: I dropped them off at nine and then they texted
- 1:21Speaker 4: me at like eleven forty five and they said, hey,
- 1:25Speaker 4: our plane doesn't leave until three o'clock. And I was like,
- 1:28Speaker 4: that sucks. I was not about to be like, hey,
- 1:33Speaker 4: do I need to go get you because currently the
- 1:37Speaker 4: car that I drove them in, which was my mom's
- 1:40Speaker 4: car literally is on e Like.
- 1:43Speaker 3: They were like, hey, we're gonna drive the bank.
- 1:47Speaker 4: You have to drive with us, and then when you
- 1:50Speaker 4: drop us off, you have to drive my car back.
- 1:52Speaker 3: And I was like okay.
- 1:53Speaker 4: And then as I was going back home, the light
- 1:57Speaker 4: turned on and I'm like, I make it home.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Geez, Louise. But yeah, it's been a fun week.
- 2:06Speaker 4: I got to, of course watch the four episodes that
- 2:10Speaker 4: we are reviewing.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Today peacefully. Abby and amber Lyn were still asleep when
- 2:18Speaker 3: I got back from the airport.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Oh that's nice.
- 2:20Speaker 4: So I was just like, all right, I'm just gonna
- 2:22Speaker 4: sit here. I grabbed tacos on my way home. I'm
- 2:24Speaker 4: just gonna eat these tacos, watch the show, and we're
- 2:26Speaker 4: good to go.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it is it. I got up at five am
- 2:32Speaker 2: this morning to watch them. We watched the first three
- 2:35Speaker 2: episodes and then I didn't get a chance to put
- 2:40Speaker 2: on the fourth episode until dinner. So mar got her
- 2:43Speaker 2: first glance at Adult Star Wars since Tales of the
- 2:49Speaker 2: Empire when she was in Austin, so she was like,
- 2:56Speaker 2: what happened? What happened?
- 3:01Speaker 4: Amber Lyn did wake up around the time of the
- 3:04Speaker 4: third episode and she's like, Daddy, what are you watching?
- 3:10Speaker 4: I said, this is the new Star Wars show. This
- 3:14Speaker 4: is one of Daddy's shows. She's like, Okay, it's my turn.
- 3:20Speaker 4: And I said, no, no, no, no, you watched TV
- 3:25Speaker 4: all day yesterday. I'm watching my shows today. And she said, okay,
- 3:32Speaker 4: credits roll on episode three. And she looks at me
- 3:35Speaker 4: and she says, now, is it my turn? I said no,
- 3:40Speaker 4: I got one more episode and then we're gonna turn
- 3:45Speaker 4: the TV off because you don't need to be watching
- 3:47Speaker 4: TV all the time. And she looked at me with
- 3:51Speaker 4: the disgust of a fourteen year old. I swear to god.
- 3:59Speaker 4: She rolled her eyes at me and then went upstairs.
- 4:03Speaker 4: My daughter is three going on thirty. It is absolutely insane.
- 4:09Speaker 4: I I I I. I wish you luck because I
- 4:18Speaker 4: know that Mara is still two years out until then.
- 4:23Speaker 3: But who.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Is only one year out? She's only a year and
- 4:30Speaker 2: a half younger.
- 4:31Speaker 3: And that's right, Oh my gosh, yeah, she's she's one
- 4:34Speaker 3: year out.
- 4:36Speaker 4: She did I did hear her give you a little
- 4:38Speaker 4: bit of attitude right before we went live, So I'm like, yep,
- 4:41Speaker 4: I get it.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Well, we're in the for those listening. We're in the
- 4:46Speaker 2: phase of potty training and uh also fighting naps, so
- 4:51Speaker 2: she didn't have a nap today, So that doesn't help
- 4:53Speaker 2: the situation at all. I hear negotiating with her dad
- 4:58Speaker 2: right not for one word.
- 5:00Speaker 4: So abby the other day literally this week, looked at
- 5:04Speaker 4: me and she said, I think we're like, I think
- 5:10Speaker 4: the phase of naps is behind us, and like the
- 5:14Speaker 4: sense of dread that just came over me and my
- 5:17Speaker 4: body and I'm just like, I still need it though.
- 5:23Speaker 2: See, but I grew up. I grew up with you
- 5:29Speaker 2: like you get quiet time until you're like eight years old.
- 5:33Speaker 4: So see, that's what we need to quote unquote because
- 5:36Speaker 4: my mom. I love my mom to a point. She
- 5:44Speaker 4: she and I were talking the other day and she's like, Clay,
- 5:47Speaker 4: I trained you, guys.
- 5:49Speaker 3: I trained you guys so good. You never woke me
- 5:51Speaker 3: up when y'all.
- 5:52Speaker 4: Were younger, Like early in the mornings, y'all made your
- 5:56Speaker 4: own breakfast, you did all that. You knew how to
- 5:58Speaker 4: work the TV, you knew how to turn and the
- 6:00Speaker 4: volume you trained. I trained you, so you just need
- 6:03Speaker 4: to train her.
- 6:06Speaker 3: And I was just like, m that feels like the
- 6:10Speaker 3: wrong wording.
- 6:11Speaker 4: That it feels yucky, and I don't want to train
- 6:16Speaker 4: my daughter. I would like to teach her things and
- 6:20Speaker 4: be a part of that process, but training her, she's
- 6:24Speaker 4: not a dog.
- 6:25Speaker 2: I'm sorry, I'm actual evidence. So anyways, yeah, it's.
- 6:33Speaker 3: A whole it's a whole thing. But we are not here.
- 6:36Speaker 4: This is not a parenting podcast, guys, This is a
- 6:38Speaker 4: Star Wars podcast.
- 6:40Speaker 3: We got just very very small pieces of news. The
- 6:46Speaker 3: second bit of.
- 6:46Speaker 4: News is barely even any news because it was something
- 6:49Speaker 4: that we had discussed even before said thing was released.
- 6:54Speaker 3: So we'll talk about it here in just a second.
- 6:57Speaker 3: But I sent Katie a video on Instagram.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Esquire had a interview with n Hathaway and Ian McGregor
- 7:09Speaker 4: due to their new movie that is going into theaters soon.
- 7:13Speaker 3: I can't remember the title of the of the movie.
- 7:18Speaker 4: It looks interesting. It's a very interesting concept. It's our
- 7:22Speaker 4: neighborhood something or other. I literally cannot remember the freaking
- 7:28Speaker 4: name of it.
- 7:31Speaker 2: I'm giggling. Hang on the end of Oak Street.
- 7:35Speaker 4: The end of Oak Street, Yes, the end of Oak Street.
- 7:40Speaker 4: The end of Oak Street.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Okay.
- 7:43Speaker 4: The concept is like their street, their neighborhood street somehow
- 7:51Speaker 4: is transported to either like a different part of time
- 7:54Speaker 4: or whatever, like I don't know the full extent of it,
- 7:56Speaker 4: but there's like dinosaurs involved in all sorts of weird stuff.
- 8:01Speaker 4: It looks interesting, It looks like a fun popcorn flick.
- 8:06Speaker 4: But Ann Hathaway and Ian McGregor were uh both interviewed
- 8:12Speaker 4: at the same time. They were having some uh like
- 8:15Speaker 4: questionnaires of their own, like asking themselves questions, and Ann Hathaway,
- 8:21Speaker 4: in one question, asked Ian McGregor, is there any untold
- 8:28Speaker 4: story with your character of Obi Wan Kenobe that you
- 8:30Speaker 4: would still like to explore?
- 8:32Speaker 3: He said yes, he said everything past my Obi one series,
- 8:39Speaker 3: all the way up to Alec McGinness.
- 8:44Speaker 4: We've discussed that, like, hey, there's a long time coming
- 8:52Speaker 4: to like visually speaking, when you see Ian McGregor, he
- 8:57Speaker 4: is essentially supposed to turn into Alec McGuinness like yep.
- 9:01Speaker 4: And we've talked about the age difference and how close
- 9:04Speaker 4: they are actually in all yeahs right, And so I
- 9:09Speaker 4: am still in the camp like I'm still like halfway
- 9:15Speaker 4: like I'm on the fence.
- 9:16Speaker 3: I guess that would be the actual yeah phrasing.
- 9:19Speaker 4: I'm still on the fence on Okay can A Season
- 9:24Speaker 4: two feel legitimate enough to like, is.
- 9:30Speaker 3: There a purposeful story there that.
- 9:34Speaker 4: Can move the of course ongoings Skywalker saga forward? Or
- 9:41Speaker 4: is it just like, hey, Ewan's bored, Let's give him
- 9:46Speaker 4: another season.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:50Speaker 4: I think it's very enthusiastic that he wants to continue
- 9:56Speaker 4: the Obi Wan story.
- 9:57Speaker 3: I applaud him.
- 9:59Speaker 4: But we've discussed it before, like we we both have
- 10:03Speaker 4: had both pros and cons to the idea of uh.
- 10:11Speaker 3: Of them making a season two.
- 10:13Speaker 2: I mean, I think the one thing that you could
- 10:15Speaker 2: position to do is old man Kenobi where you and
- 10:20Speaker 2: McGregor are telling it, and then you bring in a
- 10:22Speaker 2: younger actor. And I know we're all in this age
- 10:25Speaker 2: of oh we can digitize and like the age older celebrities. Yeah,
- 10:32Speaker 2: just bring in a younger actor if you want to
- 10:35Speaker 2: do it that way.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Like, actually, I never really considered that.
- 10:41Speaker 2: It's very similar to the concept that we talked about
- 10:44Speaker 2: with Lando Calrisian's older actor and Donald Glover.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Okay, my brain just exploded. Okay, picture this Lucas film.
- 10:56Speaker 3: I know you're watching.
- 10:58Speaker 4: Okay, we the end season one with Obi Wan having
- 11:04Speaker 4: the conversation with Qui gon Jen. This is assumingly the
- 11:10Speaker 4: start of their training to basically become a force ghost.
- 11:13Speaker 3: This is essentially what they're gonna do. So why don't
- 11:18Speaker 3: we make season two.
- 11:21Speaker 4: An ongoing story of the training while they reminisce.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Yeah, that's basically on.
- 11:28Speaker 3: Their younger adventures.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Yeah, that's about what I would expect.
- 11:33Speaker 3: That would be amazing.
- 11:35Speaker 4: Not only would we get a new young actor for
- 11:38Speaker 4: Obi Wan Kenobi, but we could also get a new
- 11:41Speaker 4: younger actor for Qui gon Jen as well.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Yeah, so that would be fun.
- 11:47Speaker 2: That would be about all I would expect, though, because
- 11:51Speaker 2: it doesn't make sense for Obi Wan to go back
- 11:54Speaker 2: off planet. So if you want Adventures of Obi Wan,
- 12:00Speaker 2: then you, I mean, you already have the comic where
- 12:03Speaker 2: it's obi Wan Kenobi's journal that he's writing for Luke, Like,
- 12:07Speaker 2: it makes perfect sense to do it that way and
- 12:09Speaker 2: approach it as such. The other thing they jokingly talked
- 12:14Speaker 2: about was like, what character could Anne Hathaway's play.
- 12:17Speaker 3: That's what I was. I was gonna bring that up
- 12:19Speaker 3: right now.
- 12:21Speaker 4: She made two comments, uh, one being what character she
- 12:26Speaker 4: could she play? And she and I I think it's
- 12:33Speaker 4: very cute and funny how some of these actors, like we'll.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Start to talk like they know about like something, and then.
- 12:40Speaker 4: Because it's funny because she sounds so confident saying it,
- 12:45Speaker 4: and then Ewan's like no, no, no, no, not them, hold
- 12:47Speaker 4: on no no, yeah, because he's like, oh, I could
- 12:53Speaker 4: be like Anakin's evil daughter or whatever. He's like, well, yeah,
- 12:59Speaker 4: that tech can't make any sense right now, but it does,
- 13:05Speaker 4: like I think it would kind of soil like the
- 13:09Speaker 4: beautiful picture that we have of the organas but like
- 13:13Speaker 4: you could have like a secret affair with like the
- 13:16Speaker 4: organa family and then then Leah have like an evil
- 13:19Speaker 4: stepsister type of.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Thing, evil cousin is more than I would Yeah.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Would make a little bit more sense.
- 13:27Speaker 4: But then and Hathaway did say that in this idea
- 13:32Speaker 4: of a season two of Obi Wan Kenobi, she does
- 13:36Speaker 4: want to be a part of it. And again this
- 13:40Speaker 4: is her speaking like she knows stuff, which again I
- 13:45Speaker 4: am not harping on Anne Hathaway.
- 13:47Speaker 3: This is just what actions.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Do, busy, and she's pregnant.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Yeah exactly.
- 13:54Speaker 4: She says, I kind of want to join you on
- 13:56Speaker 4: your quest for Yoda, on this future quest.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Which does like I would be curious.
- 14:15Speaker 4: If you could technically, if you could technically use.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Yoda in a season to a live one. I don't
- 14:26Speaker 3: think you can.
- 14:27Speaker 4: I don't think so, because that would ruin the entire
- 14:31Speaker 4: purpose of them going their separate ways. And then, hey,
- 14:34Speaker 4: if we ever met, it would risk both of our
- 14:37Speaker 4: lives in the trying to hide Luke and Lea and
- 14:42Speaker 4: you know, survive this entire Yeah.
- 14:45Speaker 2: And there's not really like a force ghost communication structure. Yeah,
- 14:52Speaker 2: but you could also be like Ryan Johnson and be like, yeah,
- 14:54Speaker 2: but I'm just gonna invent force powers, you know, so
- 15:00Speaker 2: why not?
- 15:01Speaker 4: I think it's fine for the acting chops that Anne
- 15:07Speaker 4: Hathaway has shown throughout her years.
- 15:11Speaker 3: I would actually love to see her in a Star
- 15:14Speaker 3: Wars project.
- 15:15Speaker 2: I went to. She's definitely one of my top ones.
- 15:22Speaker 3: I need.
- 15:23Speaker 4: I now need to ask because again famously we have
- 15:27Speaker 4: the conversation is somebody too famous for Star Wars?
- 15:31Speaker 3: I now need to ask Travis if.
- 15:35Speaker 4: Anne Hathaway is too famous for Star Wars? And I
- 15:41Speaker 4: genuinely think, like, because of what Christopher Nolan has done
- 15:47Speaker 4: with Oppenheimer and now the Odyssey, I don't think you
- 15:54Speaker 4: can be too famous for any role.
- 15:58Speaker 3: I don't like because.
- 16:00Speaker 2: What Zindea was in there for like five minutes Zindea.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Okay, so Zindea was in there. But then also, I I.
- 16:08Speaker 4: Don't understand the idea of these like cinema heads because
- 16:14Speaker 4: it's like, oh, popcorn flakes. But but then like they
- 16:18Speaker 4: watch Dune, they watch like it's there's still franchises. They're like,
- 16:24Speaker 4: it's still franchising in a different light with a different
- 16:29Speaker 4: director like that, that's all.
- 16:30Speaker 3: That's all you're doing. People.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Yeah, so I'm I'm curious. I'm gonna have to ask
- 16:35Speaker 4: him later today. I'm gonna ask Travis if Anne Hathaway
- 16:40Speaker 4: is too famous for Star Wars because I would love
- 16:45Speaker 4: to see, Hey, maybe we can have her in a
- 16:50Speaker 4: future Star Wars movie where she is a part of
- 16:54Speaker 4: the Jedi Order, have her be a jet.
- 16:58Speaker 3: Yeah. I just thought that was a fun little bit
- 17:00Speaker 3: and forth.
- 17:01Speaker 4: We don't really get to see that from somebody who
- 17:04Speaker 4: is a part of the UH franchise in i P
- 17:10Speaker 4: and somebody who is outside of the I P. Too
- 17:12Speaker 4: often we have two people that are always working on
- 17:17Speaker 4: a Star Wars project conversing. So I thought that was
- 17:21Speaker 4: really really fun.
- 17:24Speaker 5: Other than that, the the only other thing that we had.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Was an investors call for earnings reports CE Disney CEO
- 17:44Speaker 2: Josh Dat de Amberro, when talking about the The Man
- 17:55Speaker 2: Learning Gurgu and how it is uh the lowest grossing
- 18:00Speaker 2: Star Wars film of all time, he said the Mandamorian
- 18:06Speaker 2: Grogu drove healthy growth in retail sales for the Star
- 18:09Speaker 2: Wars franchise and drew guests to the updated Millennium Falcon
- 18:13Speaker 2: attraction to Disneyland and Walt Disney World, and led to
- 18:16Speaker 2: significant engagement in gaming as well. We talked about this
- 18:20Speaker 2: when talking box office productions, and I said, like, I
- 18:25Speaker 2: don't think the box office as long as it can
- 18:28Speaker 2: make its budget back I or like come close to it.
- 18:34Speaker 2: I really did not think the box office failing was
- 18:39Speaker 2: going to matter too much at the end of the
- 18:42Speaker 2: day because of how well Grogu does with retail sales,
- 18:47Speaker 2: and like, we saw the initiatives that they were launching
- 18:50Speaker 2: with uh Galaxies Edge and like updating that and everything.
- 18:57Speaker 2: So I really didn't think it was gonna be a
- 19:00Speaker 2: big deal. And the fact that he said it on
- 19:01Speaker 2: the investors call it makes me think that they made
- 19:05Speaker 2: decent money with it.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Yeah, no, we.
- 19:08Speaker 4: We we specifically I remember us saying specifically that, hey,
- 19:15Speaker 4: Grogu makes them enough money outside of this movie.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Just putting more Grogu.
- 19:22Speaker 4: Out there because of this movie is only going to
- 19:25Speaker 4: help them. And I think now, like it was just
- 19:33Speaker 4: I don't think it's officially announced. I think it's still
- 19:35Speaker 4: rumored they're making like a Star Wars Land. It sounds
- 19:42Speaker 4: like at uh.
- 19:44Speaker 2: I think they're updating Galaxy's Edge to kind of expand
- 19:48Speaker 2: it and then like update it for like that's what
- 19:56Speaker 2: they're doing with like the comic where they're bringing it
- 19:58Speaker 2: into like the Original Trilogy time frame and bringing those characters,
- 20:02Speaker 2: and so I think they're working on expanding it and
- 20:05Speaker 2: then but like opening up their options with it, and
- 20:10Speaker 2: they will probably end up cycling through sequel characters in
- 20:13Speaker 2: like one season, but then like Original Trilogy characters, we
- 20:16Speaker 2: might even see prequel Trilogy characters come into play.
- 20:20Speaker 4: So, now, before we jump into our main conversation, which
- 20:27Speaker 4: is a Forest ninth Jedi episodes one, two, three, and four,
- 20:30Speaker 4: we are going to be talking about five, six, seven,
- 20:34Speaker 4: and eight next week, I want to give you guys
- 20:38Speaker 4: a little bit of an update because later on this month,
- 20:41Speaker 4: we are going to be discussing the young adult novels
- 20:44Speaker 4: of the High Republic and our rankings. I got through
- 20:49Speaker 4: the first book, which was Into the Dark, and Katie,
- 20:54Speaker 4: I don't know if you remember this, and I tried
- 20:57Speaker 4: to get an answer on threads from the author, uh
- 21:01Speaker 4: and from Tom, just to see if they would, you know,
- 21:05Speaker 4: even give me.
- 21:05Speaker 2: A little Well, so Tom was not the editor on
- 21:09Speaker 2: Into the Dark Tom. Tom only edits. Tom only edits
- 21:13Speaker 2: adult books. So published under the Random House World Stuff,
- 21:17Speaker 2: So you're editor for Disney Stuff Berries, but it was
- 21:22Speaker 2: under Disney Books, which no longer publishes Star Wars. They
- 21:27Speaker 2: sent it out to Random House.
- 21:29Speaker 4: I wonder if he would still know something though, because
- 21:33Speaker 4: I totally forgot about this. This is one This is
- 21:35Speaker 4: another reason why I kind of wanted to do the
- 21:38Speaker 4: whole rankings, is because we both had a little bit
- 21:40Speaker 4: of an itch to kind of go back and go
- 21:44Speaker 4: through the High Republic.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Again, and this was kind of the excuse to do so.
- 21:49Speaker 4: In this book they mentioned that the When We Are
- 21:54Speaker 4: because this is the book that introduces the Drin gear,
- 21:59Speaker 4: the gear were used and captured by the scyth mm hmm,
- 22:09Speaker 4: and like it, like I don't know why I didn't
- 22:14Speaker 4: immediately remember that, but like I paused on it for
- 22:16Speaker 4: a second, I was like, hold.
- 22:17Speaker 2: On a second, well, because if you remember in the
- 22:21Speaker 2: Rise of Kylo Wrinn, the a Maxine station is actually
- 22:25Speaker 2: where Kylo Wrinn meets Snoke in everything, So there's a
- 22:29Speaker 2: lot of history with the Sith Empire with those regards.
- 22:33Speaker 2: But yeah, the statues involved I haven't finished Into the Dark,
- 22:37Speaker 2: but the statues involved were Sith based in order to
- 22:41Speaker 2: contain the drink gear and make it so they were
- 22:45Speaker 2: in spaces basically.
- 22:46Speaker 4: But I'm glad you brought up the Kylo Wrinn comic
- 22:50Speaker 4: because it kind of answers my question that I had
- 22:55Speaker 4: kind of put forth on threads.
- 22:59Speaker 3: I would that story.
- 23:01Speaker 4: Like if there is any more actual conversation of like, hey,
- 23:06Speaker 4: what can we do in the High Republic to get
- 23:10Speaker 4: people's attention and like what books can we put out there?
- 23:14Speaker 3: I want that book. I want.
- 23:18Speaker 2: I just don't know if publishing is going to work
- 23:25Speaker 2: with Sith at the moment, just because of how influx
- 23:29Speaker 2: everything is. I think they're going to maintain kind of
- 23:31Speaker 2: status quo with the stories that we do have and
- 23:35Speaker 2: expanding things in that region. The other thing I will
- 23:39Speaker 2: say about Claudia Gray. Claudia Gray got a lot of
- 23:41Speaker 2: hate for the Falling Star and like death threats. So
- 23:44Speaker 2: I don't think she maintains her own social media anymore,
- 23:48Speaker 2: Like she has somebody to do that for her, and
- 23:50Speaker 2: she doesn't respond to comments. So yeah, because people were
- 23:58Speaker 2: like really about Still and Geo's and like some other
- 24:02Speaker 2: characters that got killed off, but then also thought it
- 24:04Speaker 2: was kind of anti climactic and there was a lot
- 24:06Speaker 2: of things going on and stuff. So there's a lot
- 24:09Speaker 2: of death threats, which caused like all of the publishing team,
- 24:13Speaker 2: like Cavin Scott, backed off of social media a lot
- 24:18Speaker 2: in the time frame, so they all just kind of
- 24:21Speaker 2: took a lesson from it and were like, we need
- 24:25Speaker 2: to like draw a line here.
- 24:34Speaker 4: So man, I am telling you the the fa like
- 24:41Speaker 4: we complain about fandoms overall, but like I will say this,
- 24:45Speaker 4: like when it comes to controversy, you are just like
- 24:50Speaker 4: stirring the pot when you put in like, hey, here's
- 24:53Speaker 4: the book fandom and Star Wars fandom put together, and
- 24:58Speaker 4: then let chaos suit.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Yeah, and you think about it too, Like in I
- 25:04Speaker 2: think it was twenty twenty two, books to Graham and
- 25:07Speaker 2: book talk weren't even super big. Yeah at the time,
- 25:11Speaker 2: Like it's only just recently like picked up steam after
- 25:15Speaker 2: Fourth Wing. I feel like so yeah, yeah.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Like the huge wave of Romanticy has really picked up
- 25:25Speaker 3: that whole thing. But yeah, that's that's a.
- 25:28Speaker 4: Little bit of a bummerum because I just I want
- 25:33Speaker 4: my answers.
- 25:34Speaker 2: I am re listening to Rain of the Empire. I
- 25:39Speaker 2: started Into the Dark, but then I went back to
- 25:42Speaker 2: Rain of the Empire because we got the arc for that, guys,
- 25:45Speaker 2: so but I wanted to kind of refresh in my
- 25:47Speaker 2: brain before diving back into it. So I'm about halfway
- 25:52Speaker 2: through that.
- 25:54Speaker 4: I am starting that one next week, because I am
- 26:00Speaker 4: starting tonight. I am starting out of the Shadows. I'm
- 26:06Speaker 4: gonna do.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Two because there's there's a total of five.
- 26:09Speaker 4: Books young adults in the High Republic. There's three books
- 26:17Speaker 4: hold On, hold On three in phase one, one in
- 26:27Speaker 4: two in phase two, okay, hold on, I forgot the
- 26:31Speaker 4: second one, okay, hold on three, two? And is there
- 26:39Speaker 4: two in phase three? There's three in phase three, hold On,
- 26:43Speaker 4: hold On, hold On, hold On, hold On.
- 26:47Speaker 2: I got my books back, y'all. I can look at
- 26:49Speaker 2: myself and tell.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Y'all so that it would be okay. So into the
- 26:54Speaker 3: Light half of the Path of.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Vengeance Into the Dark, Out of the Shadows, Midnight Horizon,
- 27:00Speaker 2: Defy the Storm, Tiers of the Nameless Into the Light.
- 27:05Speaker 3: Okay, that's what it was. It was Tiers of the Storm.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Defy the Storm or Tiers of the Nameless.
- 27:13Speaker 3: Here's in the Nameless.
- 27:13Speaker 4: Sorry, I was like, wait, got like three different books
- 27:19Speaker 4: mangled up in that one title there.
- 27:21Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, okay, okay.
- 27:23Speaker 4: So with there being eight, what I plan on doing
- 27:29Speaker 4: is because I'm able to because I'm doing at one
- 27:32Speaker 4: point five speed, so I can like really remember things.
- 27:38Speaker 4: I'm going to finish four of these books for the
- 27:40Speaker 4: young adult. Then I'm gonna read Written of the Empire.
- 27:44Speaker 3: Reread uh uh oh my gosh. What was the first one,
- 27:53Speaker 3: Mask Fear, Mask of Fear.
- 27:55Speaker 4: I'm gonna read Mask of Fear, and then I'm going
- 27:57Speaker 4: to finish the other four of the young adult.
- 28:00Speaker 3: So that way, I am ready to just go through
- 28:07Speaker 3: Edge of.
- 28:07Speaker 4: The Abbess when we're done reviewing the young adult stuff.
- 28:12Speaker 4: But that is a little update on what we plan
- 28:16Speaker 4: on doing at the end of this month and going
- 28:19Speaker 4: into next month. With that being said, Katie, I believe
- 28:25Speaker 4: we are ready for our review. Star Wars Visions Presents
- 28:33Speaker 4: the ninth of Jedi episodes one, two, three, and four.
- 28:39Speaker 4: Katie initial thoughts of what we have seen so far.
- 28:47Speaker 4: I do need to know have you watched.
- 28:49Speaker 3: Anything else past episode four?
- 28:52Speaker 2: Originally I was going to, but then I didn't have time,
- 28:58Speaker 2: so then I did because I wanted to avoid spoilers.
- 29:02Speaker 2: But I haven't seen a whole lot of conversations. But again,
- 29:04Speaker 2: I also didn't have a whole lot of time on
- 29:06Speaker 2: social media today.
- 29:08Speaker 4: So that's that's what's gotten me a little interested in shooting.
- 29:14Speaker 2: On the party. Sorry, Matt sent me a candy gift.
- 29:19Speaker 2: I'm very excited.
- 29:21Speaker 4: I am very interested to get into four or five
- 29:26Speaker 4: through eight, because guys, if he could have joined, he
- 29:31Speaker 4: would have. Adrian texted me earlier today and said that
- 29:36Speaker 4: he won't be able to make it. He had some
- 29:39Speaker 4: other stuff that he needed to finish, but he said
- 29:41Speaker 4: this definitely need to talk about five through eight. Oh my,
- 29:47Speaker 4: I will say I am impressed one thousand percent could
- 29:51Speaker 4: have been.
- 29:51Speaker 3: A weekly release. I was not expecting that.
- 30:01Speaker 4: Because and this is just my initial thoughts one through four,
- 30:09Speaker 4: although it brings up interesting concepts that I see being
- 30:17Speaker 4: fulfilled throughout the series.
- 30:18Speaker 3: Of course, five through eight one through four is nothing new.
- 30:27Speaker 2: It really is kind of like your catalyst moment that
- 30:31Speaker 2: we see in all Star Wars films without saying too
- 30:35Speaker 2: much because we had just like initial thoughts kind of thing.
- 30:38Speaker 2: It really is standard. But despite that, I was pleasantly
- 30:44Speaker 2: surprised with how much I was actually enjoying the story.
- 30:50Speaker 2: I know, we talked last week guys about how I was,
- 30:53Speaker 2: how I was concerned that we weren't really gonna go
- 30:57Speaker 2: anywhere new with things. And then like how they have
- 31:04Speaker 2: the character descriptions like the what is it called the
- 31:10Speaker 2: character guide on Star Wars dot com, and they reveal
- 31:13Speaker 2: in the character guide that they released a week before
- 31:16Speaker 2: the show that actually the father was the Jedi Knight.
- 31:19Speaker 2: I was pleasantly surprised with how they handled that, so
- 31:24Speaker 2: and like, I still don't like that they publish that
- 31:28Speaker 2: because I feel.
- 31:30Speaker 4: The reveal would have been really nice seeing it in
- 31:33Speaker 4: the show. Yeah, yeah, I I agree.
- 31:44Speaker 3: This was really easy on the eyes.
- 31:49Speaker 4: I don't think they did anything too crazy as far
- 31:51Speaker 4: as like choreographed to like really like especially with somebody
- 31:56Speaker 4: like you in the instance of some of your migraines
- 31:59Speaker 4: and everything else, Like this was not too flashy it
- 32:02Speaker 4: wasn't crazy, very easy on the eyes, story was easy
- 32:07Speaker 4: enough to follow. I will say there was some awkwardness
- 32:13Speaker 4: with the writing.
- 32:16Speaker 3: And I think, like not just cheesy, but just like
- 32:21Speaker 3: some of the like did.
- 32:24Speaker 2: You watch the dove or did you watch the sub?
- 32:28Speaker 4: I watched the dub after I did when we finish,
- 32:34Speaker 4: when we finished watching and we finished reviewing, I am
- 32:38Speaker 4: going to watch the entire thing through subbed, which normally
- 32:46Speaker 4: with the last two times I have watched both Virgin
- 32:50Speaker 4: Virgins versions of each of the individual episodes on visions,
- 32:57Speaker 4: but this I just didn't have the time to do.
- 32:59Speaker 2: So Yeah, and I think I'll probably watch the sub
- 33:03Speaker 2: this weekend, like I'll watch through five through eight, but
- 33:09Speaker 2: then I'll watch the sub for next week.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:12Speaker 2: The other thing, guys that happened in my life that
- 33:14Speaker 2: has been crazy is my sister got engaged and she
- 33:17Speaker 2: wants to try and have a mini wedding in two months.
- 33:20Speaker 2: But that expects like we have to help plan in things,
- 33:23Speaker 2: so I have to do that this weekend too. So yeah, okay,
- 33:30Speaker 2: So that is my goal for this weekend is watch
- 33:31Speaker 2: five through eight and then be able to watch the
- 33:34Speaker 2: subah of it and kind of get both so we
- 33:38Speaker 2: can talk, so I can talk about that next week.
- 33:40Speaker 2: But yeah, definitely did not have time to do sub
- 33:44Speaker 2: today because I have to be focused.
- 33:46Speaker 4: Yea, As of right now, there is no real standout
- 33:55Speaker 4: character for me. Everything is kind of easy going right now.
- 34:01Speaker 3: There is a lot.
- 34:04Speaker 4: Of people on threads right now that are a little
- 34:11Speaker 4: fanning themselves over over the villain. We did get a
- 34:25Speaker 4: face reveal. I believe it was episode three that we
- 34:29Speaker 4: got a face reveal.
- 34:31Speaker 3: Yes, four, it was for it was the final episode.
- 34:34Speaker 4: Okay, uh, not the final episode, but the final episode
- 34:37Speaker 4: that we are talking about.
- 34:38Speaker 3: We did get a face reveal here.
- 34:42Speaker 4: Some of the stuff that I was saying was like, yeah,
- 34:45Speaker 4: you know, we got a new Star Wars show. You know,
- 34:47Speaker 4: cool and all, but oh my god, the villain is hot.
- 34:50Speaker 4: I'm just like, that's all you took out of everything
- 34:57Speaker 4: that we are trying to push forward in like New
- 35:00Speaker 4: Star Wars, Like hot villain is the only thing we're
- 35:03Speaker 4: taking away.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Yeah, but it brings the fans.
- 35:07Speaker 4: If it brings in new fans, I think I will
- 35:11Speaker 4: get over it. But I just thought that was very
- 35:13Speaker 4: very funny.
- 35:14Speaker 5: You're in romanticy Land, come on, that is very true
- 35:20Speaker 5: one thing that I think as far as and we
- 35:24Speaker 5: can start getting into spoilers here, there is still a
- 35:28Speaker 5: lot of mystery.
- 35:30Speaker 4: I will say this. I'm glad this is not a
- 35:35Speaker 4: complete New Hope reskin. Now, yes, there is little crumbs
- 35:43Speaker 4: of New Hope here, but it is not a New
- 35:47Speaker 4: Hope reskin. And let me tell you. There is a
- 35:52Speaker 4: quick moment where the General General Noam is introduced as
- 36:05Speaker 4: a villain. And I say introduced verbally. You don't see
- 36:10Speaker 4: him first, you only hear about him, and then they
- 36:15Speaker 4: discuss something about Kara's father and then you see General Noam,
- 36:24Speaker 4: and I'm like, don't you do it. Don't you make
- 36:27Speaker 4: her father General Noam, because I will throw something. I
- 36:33Speaker 4: will throw something across this room right now if it
- 36:37Speaker 4: is revealed that he is the father. But then they
- 36:40Speaker 4: were both in the same room together, and I'm like,
- 36:43Speaker 4: thank god, because the there's a moment where Noam is
- 36:53Speaker 4: fighting a supposed masterless Jedi and when he defeats that
- 37:04Speaker 4: masterless Jedi which doesn't have a lightsaber, so we still
- 37:07Speaker 4: don't even know if that was a masterless Jedi or not.
- 37:12Speaker 4: There's a quick flash to Kara's father and the way
- 37:19Speaker 4: the shading around him. It made me think he's inside
- 37:23Speaker 4: the suit for a quick second, and I'm like, don't
- 37:29Speaker 4: you do it?
- 37:30Speaker 3: God damn it. But I think it might be.
- 37:33Speaker 2: I actually never got there, and I think it's because
- 37:37Speaker 2: Simoulu voices the English version of the character, and so
- 37:45Speaker 2: I was just I've always got in my head that
- 37:47Speaker 2: he's going to be a good guy. So I was like,
- 37:51Speaker 2: I can't possibly, So I never went that far. I
- 37:55Speaker 2: did find it interesting the twist with the father that
- 38:03Speaker 2: he killed the Master that was on Bibben like trying
- 38:08Speaker 2: to reignite the Jedi order. I totally saw that coming.
- 38:12Speaker 2: I was like, Okay, he had to have a reason,
- 38:14Speaker 2: like for Jerro to trust him. I was like, like,
- 38:23Speaker 2: he knew all these people were bad, like in the
- 38:27Speaker 2: opening episode of Like Visions. He knew the people were
- 38:34Speaker 2: bad in Vision season one with the short film. So
- 38:39Speaker 2: I was like, I feel like if there was a
- 38:42Speaker 2: if there was a recognizable reason, Jerro would have detected
- 38:49Speaker 2: if something was a miss. So I was like, Okay,
- 38:51Speaker 2: there has to be a reason, and there was. The
- 38:54Speaker 2: Master had been corrupted by politics. What a surprise.
- 39:03Speaker 4: So my my my question to you is, and I'm
- 39:10Speaker 4: gonna elaborate a little bit and give context to this, because,
- 39:15Speaker 4: as we have discussed in previous episodes of this podcast,
- 39:19Speaker 4: there has been I'll say it blatantly, a very toxic
- 39:25Speaker 4: conversation around the idea of what people call gray Jedi.
- 39:34Speaker 4: There's a little bit of a spin on this idea,
- 39:40Speaker 4: and I say it, I don't even know if it's
- 39:42Speaker 4: even connected to that idea.
- 39:44Speaker 3: But in this universe of.
- 39:48Speaker 4: Star Wars of the Ninth Jedi, kyber crystals change color
- 39:56Speaker 4: based on you're a lot and relationship with the Force.
- 40:04Speaker 4: We've seen people have red lightsabers, clearly, We've seen people
- 40:07Speaker 4: have blue, green, and we even have hoem with purple.
- 40:15Speaker 3: We find out that.
- 40:20Speaker 4: Zeema car is Dad, in the midst of the fight
- 40:26Speaker 4: with his Master, had his blue lightsaber transform into a
- 40:35Speaker 4: silver lightsaber, which in my eyes is a pretty neutrul color.
- 40:46Speaker 2: Yeah, And the way that was explained in Vision season
- 40:51Speaker 2: one was that basically you your heart didn't know which
- 40:57Speaker 2: way it was leading. Yeah, was the structure. I think,
- 41:05Speaker 2: I know it flashed red and then it flashed silver,
- 41:09Speaker 2: and I think it's because so I think initially the
- 41:14Speaker 2: red flash was because the Master had his hand on it,
- 41:19Speaker 2: and so you could see the tip kind of like
- 41:22Speaker 2: flashing where Red was taking over it, but then it
- 41:24Speaker 2: fought back because he must all have had his hands
- 41:26Speaker 2: on it. And so then I think the neutral state
- 41:32Speaker 2: that Nam sees in that moment, I think is Ziema
- 41:36Speaker 2: kind of going, Okay, I have to accept that I
- 41:39Speaker 2: have to take this guy out for the benefit of us,
- 41:41Speaker 2: all kind of thing. Yes, And that was the perfect
- 41:44Speaker 2: balance that now n'am has become obsessed with.
- 41:48Speaker 4: Yes, which the big reveal in the trailer and of
- 41:53Speaker 4: course in this first four episodes, is that No, wom
- 42:00Speaker 4: is revealed to have a blue lightsaber, is very devastated
- 42:07Speaker 4: with this because she kind of like innocently.
- 42:12Speaker 3: And kind of like, uh, ignorance.
- 42:18Speaker 4: Ignorantly I think is kind of like a really harsh
- 42:22Speaker 4: term of saying it, but I don't really know how
- 42:24Speaker 4: else to say it. She because all she's ever known
- 42:27Speaker 4: is her life with her father. She believes, oh, every
- 42:31Speaker 4: lightsaber is forged by my father, and so when she
- 42:35Speaker 4: sees a blue lightsaber, or even the red one that
- 42:41Speaker 4: was also wielded.
- 42:43Speaker 2: By No Genora, is it is there an arn name
- 42:51Speaker 2: hold on.
- 42:53Speaker 4: Gino, it's g E N N h Yep, you're right, yeah.
- 42:59Speaker 3: Gino, he has a red lightsaber.
- 43:02Speaker 4: So she's like, oh my gosh, Like I can't believe
- 43:04Speaker 4: that my father would you know, forge this lightsaber for
- 43:07Speaker 4: this type of individual.
- 43:09Speaker 3: We get a little bit.
- 43:10Speaker 4: Of sith lore in this universe as well, about passing
- 43:14Speaker 4: down lightsabers and stuff like that. But it is also like, hey,
- 43:21Speaker 4: he's not the only forger.
- 43:23Speaker 3: Of lightsabers, uh kind of thing.
- 43:25Speaker 4: Yeah, So with Noam having this blue lightsaber, Kara is
- 43:34Speaker 4: very like, oh my gosh, does that mean he's not
- 43:37Speaker 4: a bad guy?
- 43:37Speaker 3: What's going on? A little bit conflicted again, guys.
- 43:41Speaker 4: She is new to all of this, Like when somebody
- 43:44Speaker 4: even asks her after she's holding a lightsaber, hey, are
- 43:47Speaker 4: you a Jedi? She's like, uh, I guess I don't know,
- 43:50Speaker 4: like like this is all new, Like she yeah, like
- 43:55Speaker 4: it's a new concept to her.
- 43:59Speaker 3: And so.
- 44:01Speaker 4: I really dig the idea because everybody's the hero of
- 44:08Speaker 4: the wrong story, right, That's like the big thing about
- 44:12Speaker 4: any narrative story.
- 44:15Speaker 3: Seeing this.
- 44:17Speaker 4: Is really fun because we get to see an actual
- 44:20Speaker 4: evolution of a character. There is a moment in episode
- 44:27Speaker 4: four where we do get this moment of Noam's blue
- 44:33Speaker 4: lightsaber changing into that silver.
- 44:39Speaker 2: Well, but it's when he picks up Juro's lightsaber because
- 44:44Speaker 2: Kara cuts Noam's lightsaber in half, because we see in
- 44:49Speaker 2: the flashback where Noam is talking about his past that
- 44:52Speaker 2: he actually picks up the Master's Blade, which had not
- 44:55Speaker 2: been forged by Jima, which is why it was blue,
- 45:00Speaker 2: and he picks up the Margrave's lightsaber. He's able to
- 45:06Speaker 2: get that Kiber crystal a tuning which shows him the silver,
- 45:11Speaker 2: the so called balance that he thinks he's trying to achieve.
- 45:16Speaker 2: So I wonder I have to wonder if Na'am thinks
- 45:23Speaker 2: that now that he's killed Juro, if he's achieved that
- 45:28Speaker 2: balance himself, even though because he may not know what
- 45:33Speaker 2: Jima did with the tuning of the Kiber crystal, so
- 45:36Speaker 2: it changes based on the holder.
- 45:38Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I'm interested in that as well. You know,
- 45:44Speaker 4: as far as Adrian has said, episodes five through eight
- 45:48Speaker 4: are a really big like part of this series, So
- 45:53Speaker 4: I am really anxious to get to that point. I
- 45:57Speaker 4: don't know if I'll be able to watch it tonight,
- 46:00Speaker 4: but I will probably be setting some side setting aside
- 46:04Speaker 4: sometime tomorrow to get at least started on it, but yeah,
- 46:09Speaker 4: I'm very curious about it.
- 46:12Speaker 3: I will be completely honest.
- 46:13Speaker 4: We haven't talked to him about about him very a
- 46:16Speaker 4: lot in this conversation, but Ethan. Ethan was a very
- 46:22Speaker 4: big part of episode one of The Vision season one.
- 46:28Speaker 4: He was almost non existent in the second episode because
- 46:31Speaker 4: that was really focusing on Kara and her future mission
- 46:35Speaker 4: of what this series.
- 46:36Speaker 3: Was going to be about. Yep, when he did not
- 46:39Speaker 3: show up in the beginning, I was like, where is he?
- 46:44Speaker 4: I legitimately thought, oh my god, they forgot to include
- 46:48Speaker 4: Ethan in this series because I was like, where is he?
- 46:53Speaker 4: What's going on? But then they finally mentioned him and
- 47:04Speaker 4: then we see he's on a separate mission. Yeah, I
- 47:08Speaker 4: was like, Okay, at least they they acknowledge the fact
- 47:14Speaker 4: that he has been absent in these other episodes.
- 47:18Speaker 3: So I'm really glad for that.
- 47:21Speaker 4: I want more just because I think his design is
- 47:26Speaker 4: really fun. But he's kind of just there homem or
- 47:32Speaker 4: home Omen sorry Homan Wild's the purple lightsaber.
- 47:39Speaker 3: He's kind of just there. He's not doing a whole lot.
- 47:44Speaker 2: Right, but I think he's an important transition piece for
- 47:46Speaker 2: what's to come with Dureau's death in the fourth episode.
- 47:51Speaker 3: That is true, which because we'll go ahead, go ahead.
- 47:56Speaker 2: Because like you need somebody else there, and Ethan doesn't
- 48:00Speaker 2: have the experience that Holman does to really balance things out.
- 48:06Speaker 2: And Homan probably also has some additional information because he
- 48:10Speaker 2: was a Jedi that went undercover in the Sith and
- 48:13Speaker 2: got he got lured by the dark Side, so he
- 48:20Speaker 2: probably at least has a little bit more information on
- 48:25Speaker 2: Jedi techniques and stuff, so he could be an important
- 48:28Speaker 2: factor in five through eight.
- 48:31Speaker 4: But there was an additional member of our little ragtag group.
- 48:37Speaker 3: I cannot remember his name for the life of me.
- 48:42Speaker 4: We got to see essentially the Jedi world where they train,
- 48:48Speaker 4: where they given yeah, yes, where we also see a
- 48:55Speaker 4: mining colony. This is where we meet a group of
- 49:01Speaker 4: individuals and like their first interaction is the freaking Margrave
- 49:11Speaker 4: just in the midst of battle with them, like just
- 49:15Speaker 4: running up to them, grabbing the sword that the other
- 49:17Speaker 4: guy threw and they just start fighting, and I'm just like,
- 49:20Speaker 4: what in the world is going on? Even cars like,
- 49:23Speaker 4: oh my god, people are gonna die. What's going on?
- 49:27Speaker 4: And of course this is just playful that they know
- 49:29Speaker 4: each other, and this is Duro trying to recruit new
- 49:36Speaker 4: Jedi to hey, this what's going This is what's going
- 49:41Speaker 4: on in the galaxy. We need your help. And we
- 49:45Speaker 4: do get one more new recruit. And again, like I said,
- 49:50Speaker 4: I can't remember his name.
- 49:52Speaker 2: For the charts of the k and it's not on
- 49:54Speaker 2: the character guide.
- 49:56Speaker 3: I am trying to see if he is in the wiki.
- 50:03Speaker 4: Okay, that's the short film, Wicky, That's why it's not here.
- 50:07Speaker 2: Yeah. Other than that, I still we haven't really talked
- 50:12Speaker 2: a whole lot about the animation style. Still love this
- 50:16Speaker 2: animation style. I love how the ship battles have looked
- 50:22Speaker 2: for the show. I know, in uh Vision season three,
- 50:27Speaker 2: like I wasn't the hugest fan of how the ship
- 50:30Speaker 2: looked animation wise compared comparatively to the characters and stuff,
- 50:36Speaker 2: But getting in the zone and experiencing it more, I
- 50:41Speaker 2: really started to really enjoy it. I love that we
- 50:47Speaker 2: got ship battles. We have multiple ship battles in this.
- 50:49Speaker 2: It's fantastic animation style. I have loved the combat sequences.
- 50:59Speaker 2: We've got really good lightsaber fights in this. Not like spectacular,
- 51:03Speaker 2: but they're really really well choreographed and draw you into
- 51:09Speaker 2: the zone for sure.
- 51:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I I am really liking the uh the choreography
- 51:17Speaker 4: in this. There was even like an older Jedi in
- 51:21Speaker 4: the very beginning, very first episode.
- 51:23Speaker 3: His name was he is done by Yeah, Yeah, done
- 51:28Speaker 3: by very old dude. He's the leader of what's the city.
- 51:37Speaker 2: His lead planet.
- 51:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 51:40Speaker 2: It actually does Moco dumb Moco at Macoma Co.
- 51:44Speaker 3: Yeah, Macoma Co. And he is very hesitant at first.
- 51:51Speaker 4: He's like, n hey, guys, that that that lives behind me,
- 51:54Speaker 4: Like what are you all doing? Like this this is
- 51:55Speaker 4: something we cannot do. But then when General uh Nawam
- 52:02Speaker 4: comes in with his army, that's when done By like
- 52:06Speaker 4: it's covering for them. It's like, oh, I don't know
- 52:08Speaker 4: what you're talking about. I've never seen these people before,
- 52:10Speaker 4: like blah blah blah. And that's when Carr's like, oh crap,
- 52:13Speaker 4: he's actually like working with us, he's actually helping us.
- 52:17Speaker 3: We get to see him.
- 52:18Speaker 4: Fight, but we do see that he's very winded. He
- 52:20Speaker 4: hasn't done this in a very long time. Yeah, there's
- 52:23Speaker 4: there's a couple of years past this prime. I really
- 52:28Speaker 4: like that detail. It shows like, hey, like because he
- 52:35Speaker 4: hasn't fought in a while, he's he's gonna be slower.
- 52:37Speaker 4: It's gonna be a little bit trickier.
- 52:39Speaker 3: This is why we need to go.
- 52:42Speaker 4: And recruit more people, because there's people who have just
- 52:47Speaker 4: forgotten about this life. So I I do like that
- 52:52Speaker 4: small detail. I know there's gonna be some.
- 52:57Speaker 3: Poor dum.
- 53:00Speaker 4: I'm I'm just gonna say some of the earth people
- 53:03Speaker 4: that are going to complain about how our group of
- 53:09Speaker 4: heroes hopped in hyperspace into the atmosphere.
- 53:19Speaker 3: Macomoco. I thought it was cool, the idea of them
- 53:25Speaker 3: escaping just so.
- 53:27Speaker 4: That way they can get enough distance to essentially go
- 53:31Speaker 4: in for a sneak attack.
- 53:32Speaker 3: I thought that was a fun idea.
- 53:35Speaker 2: And hyperspace jumping in atmosphere has been done. It's done
- 53:42Speaker 2: in the Higher Republic books, and it's been done in
- 53:47Speaker 2: other cases. It's just very dangerous, which is why it's
- 53:50Speaker 2: not recommended.
- 53:51Speaker 4: Yeah, it's even been done in other visions like it.
- 53:54Speaker 4: It was done in the with the Prince and the
- 53:59Speaker 4: the Old Lady Android. They hyperspace jumped like in atmosphere
- 54:04Speaker 4: going straight up.
- 54:04Speaker 3: Yeah. So like I just know because it's really silly
- 54:11Speaker 3: things like that.
- 54:12Speaker 4: It's like, guys, not only is this a fictional world,
- 54:15Speaker 4: but like there has been other cases of it, but
- 54:18Speaker 4: because it isn't done or it's been mentioned that it's
- 54:22Speaker 4: impossible to do, and the original trilogy, you just see
- 54:26Speaker 4: that as like, hey, it can never be done, which
- 54:29Speaker 4: I think is so stupid. But yeah, I am enjoying
- 54:35Speaker 4: what I am seeing. I do not think that. Unfortunately,
- 54:42Speaker 4: if somebody were to say, like, hey, I'm giving this
- 54:46Speaker 4: four episodes to see if I want to move forward,
- 54:52Speaker 4: I would be really interested to see if that is
- 54:55Speaker 4: the case for people. Yeah, because watching this, I know
- 54:59Speaker 4: I'm gonna watch all eight episodes. Yeah, but I'm afraid
- 55:03Speaker 4: that from what I have seen in episodes one through four,
- 55:08Speaker 4: if it's going to keep enough people's attention. And that
- 55:13Speaker 4: is also why I think that eight episodes is two
- 55:17Speaker 4: damn small people.
- 55:21Speaker 3: It's like, we've complained about this before. I don't need
- 55:26Speaker 3: to vent too much.
- 55:28Speaker 4: We we we took twenty three episode seasons for granted,
- 55:34Speaker 4: and we asked to reel it back and they took
- 55:37Speaker 4: us too literally, and it's it's just it's horrible.
- 55:43Speaker 3: It's absolutely horrible.
- 55:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I I like, I think the gimmick, if you
- 55:51Speaker 4: want to even call it that, of or the I
- 55:54Speaker 4: wouldn't even call it a gimmick.
- 55:55Speaker 3: I'll call it a.
- 55:58Speaker 4: Narrative plot device of the hyper crystals changing via the characters.
- 56:07Speaker 4: You know, heart alignment and relationship with the force is
- 56:12Speaker 4: a very fun thing, I think because just like the
- 56:17Speaker 4: reveal of the bad guy having a blue lightsaber, I
- 56:20Speaker 4: think that's fun. I think that you could really have
- 56:23Speaker 4: some twists and turns with it. The again, like we
- 56:28Speaker 4: we only saw it in the very first trailer and
- 56:30Speaker 4: we don't know the actual context of it, but the
- 56:33Speaker 4: idea of Kara holding a red lightsaber like we now know, like, hey,
- 56:40Speaker 4: the the swapping of two different people with one lightsaber,
- 56:45Speaker 4: like it kind of gets kind of weird. So isn't
- 56:48Speaker 4: that really Kara's lightsaber that we see in the trailer? Like,
- 56:52Speaker 4: that's what's gonna be interesting to see or not. So
- 56:56Speaker 4: that's what's that's what's driving me right now. I want
- 56:59Speaker 4: to see what happens with this concept.
- 57:06Speaker 2: Yeah, And like so Clay had sent me the last
- 57:12Speaker 2: trailer that came out, and for the record, guys, Clainn
- 57:15Speaker 2: and I neither of us watched that trailer because we
- 57:19Speaker 2: were like, if you wanted us to watch this trailer,
- 57:21Speaker 2: you should have released it. Oh more than two days
- 57:24Speaker 2: before it released.
- 57:25Speaker 4: That we completely forgot to mention the fact that they
- 57:29Speaker 4: made episode one of this of the actual Visions season
- 57:33Speaker 4: one and episode two of Vision season three three to
- 57:39Speaker 4: watch literally a day before the season.
- 57:45Speaker 3: The marketing, it pisses me on it just it just
- 57:50Speaker 3: it irks me. It irks me.
- 57:51Speaker 4: I want to pull all my hair out. But I
- 57:54Speaker 4: am really glad. I will say this. As soon as
- 57:58Speaker 4: I woke up today, there was already people saying, Hey,
- 58:04Speaker 4: go watch this. There's new Star Wars content, Go watch this,
- 58:06Speaker 4: Go watch this. There's people who either they love anime
- 58:12Speaker 4: or they love Star Wars, or they love anime and
- 58:14Speaker 4: they love Star Wars that are trying to get more
- 58:18Speaker 4: people into watching this. I think that, regardless of what
- 58:22Speaker 4: you think, oh, that's a weird way of saying it,
- 58:27Speaker 4: I think that, regardless of what the masses will say
- 58:34Speaker 4: about whether this season is good or not, as far
- 58:38Speaker 4: as like the Ninth Jedi, I think more Visions presents
- 58:45Speaker 4: are needed. I think that more going into the wild
- 58:50Speaker 4: for Star Wars is needed.
- 58:53Speaker 3: Because this will show well, go ahead.
- 58:56Speaker 2: This is such a unique concept to because I know, guys,
- 59:02Speaker 2: don't get me wrong, I know we have what if
- 59:04Speaker 2: for Marvel, and I know Visions has kind of been
- 59:08Speaker 2: the what if kind of spun off in a different way,
- 59:12Speaker 2: but nobody's been really allowed to explore in this type
- 59:16Speaker 2: of way since Realistically Legends and having a Star Wars
- 59:23Speaker 2: Visions Presents is basically saying, here's a galaxy, here's the
- 59:28Speaker 2: concepts you have to stick to, go have fluck. And
- 59:31Speaker 2: I love it. It's perfect and it's what's needed.
- 59:35Speaker 3: Yeah, No, like this, this is this is the first
- 59:38Speaker 3: step to get.
- 59:40Speaker 4: What me and you have always wanted, which is genre
- 59:44Speaker 4: within Star Wars.
- 59:46Speaker 3: Yeah, and I really hope we get there. I genuinely do.
- 59:51Speaker 4: I really really hope that Lucasfilm sees this and they're.
- 59:55Speaker 3: Like, hey, we don't have to just do this in animation.
- 59:58Speaker 4: We can do this in live action. We could do
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: this in feature films. We can do this all over
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: the place. So yeah, I'm really really excited to what
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: the future will hold for Visions Presents.
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: As far as anything else goes.
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: In episodes one through four, I don't think there is
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: much else here.
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: No, And I know we didn't really talk about a
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: whole lot guys, but with it being so many episodes,
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: we really just wanted to have a general overall picture
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: of what was involved, and it'll be very similar next week.
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: It's about two hours for the first four episodes, guys,
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: two hours twenty minutes if you have the ad supported
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: Disney like Clay and I do, and I think the
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: back half. I think there's one episode this twenty two
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: minutes from what I saw when I was looking, But
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: then everything else lingers in the thirty minute region. So
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: and clearly I need to turn my lights on before podcasts.
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: It just got darker and darker. But yeah, it was
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: a good two hours. I'm not complaining about anything, but
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: I am interested to see how it finishes up so
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: we can really talk nitty gritty next week. Oh the
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: other the last thing, because it was the trophy thing
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: that I talked about in the non Spoiled quession was
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: markret Dureau's death. That's really all I have to say
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: about it was that it was trophy. It feels like
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: that was like the biggest thing that is like constantly
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: reused other than the father and found Child methodology. So yeah,
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: but that's it. That's all.
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: I'm interested.
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: Because there was like a small moment I was actually
- 1:02:07Speaker 4: cleaning some dishes and I should have just like paused
- 1:02:10Speaker 4: the episode. But correct me if I'm wrong. There's a
- 1:02:14Speaker 4: small instance where we hear Duro's voice after his death.
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: Yeah, because he did the Force ghost Fade, gave her
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: the lightsabers Forced Ghost Fade, and then she gets knocked
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: off into like one of the mining tunnels basically yeah,
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: and Duro talks to her and it is like, dude, you
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: did to get up and go because you go with that.
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: So so yeah, it is.
- 1:02:44Speaker 4: It is a big Star Wars trope of the Force
- 1:02:50Speaker 4: Ghost Master. It's a padawan type of relationship. I think
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: for me, I really do that you are right with this,
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: meaning that Homan's role gets a little bigger, and I
- 1:03:11Speaker 4: really don't hope, like I really hope that it doesn't
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: just push him off to the site even more for
- 1:03:16Speaker 4: Kara's dad to now take over and be like, Okay,
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: now I'm the hero.
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: Well, I think, so Jima stays on Noam's ship at
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: the end of it, so I don't. The only way
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: I see Hima taking over is really like trying to
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: reason with Noam because of his guilt with how Noam
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: came to be.
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: Basically, yeah, Zeema in my mind is one hundred.
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: A like legacy Luke Skywalker. M hmm role.
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: Here he is like the old hero, He's who everybody knows.
- 1:04:06Speaker 4: He's the one that tries to reason with the villain. Yeah,
- 1:04:11Speaker 4: very much a Luke Skyrocker Skywalker role here.
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: I'm still I don't know how I feel about Ethan.
- 1:04:23Speaker 4: In in the in the very first short film that
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: we were introduced.
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: With him, I'm like, okay, cool.
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: He seems like a like a very Larval Luke Skywalker
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: type of character. Yeah, you know, a New Hope type
- 1:04:41Speaker 4: of Luke Harawalker, not really knowing what he's doing all
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: this stuff. Like, okay, I get that. But Carra is
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: the in that role as well, and I'm more interested
- 1:04:51Speaker 4: in Kara.
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: I'll be completely honest. I'm more interested in Kara's role
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: in all of this than I am with you.
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: And Ethan might be fading into the back ground two
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: because he's returned to Kara and so his role might
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: become what Homand was in the first four episodes, which
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: I think, I agree with you is perfectly fine if
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: that happens.
- 1:05:17Speaker 4: Yeah, of course we need, uh, we don't need. But
- 1:05:25Speaker 4: of course, what is a star Wars Project without quirky droids.
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: We have Ramps. The old droid he like, he doesn't
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: do much, but his dialogue is perfect.
- 1:05:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I think uh, And so I am perfectly good
- 1:05:41Speaker 4: with with the the quippie android uh representation of this series.
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: Ye. And then yeah, I think that's it for me.
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: And if that is all from you, I think that
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: is gonna be it for the podcast.
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: We will be back next week with episodes five through eight,
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: So yeah, we will see you guys.
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: Then of course you can always find me at fanboy
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: Clay on threads and Instagram.
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: I'm I'm really starting to use threads a whole lot more.
- 1:06:24Speaker 4: I'm kind of just done with uh with Twitter, and
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: the only reason why I have is because all the
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: gua still uses the messages.
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: And that is it.
- 1:06:37Speaker 4: So check me out on the threads, check me out
- 1:06:40Speaker 4: on Instagram. Unfortunately, Jake and I were not able to
- 1:06:47Speaker 4: get together for our normal podcasting day, so we will
- 1:06:53Speaker 4: have to review the first three episodes of the new
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: show that we're covering this upcoming Monday, So go check
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: us out there on Ranger Alliance.
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: Uh. And yeah, I think that is it for me. Katie,
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: What about you? Y'all.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: You can find me on most social media platforms. It's
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: at Place of Katie. Remember this show is available uh
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: to be followed on social media on Blue Sky, Instagram

- 1:07:26Speaker 2: can also take that username and put it in front

- 1:07:33Speaker 2: love to hear from you guys. Any questions thoughts about
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: the Ninth Jedi, thoughts about the lovely books that we
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: had released in July. We had Star Wars Legacy, we
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: had as Like Stars, so uh, super good books. Both
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: reviews are live for you guys if you guys are
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: interested in those. Just as a reminder, like Clay said,
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: we are going to be talking uh our Worst Division
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: presents the Ninth Jedi Part two next week, so that's
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: episodes five through eight. On the twentieth, we are going
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: to be reviewing the Hyperspace Storage Codebreaker Trade, and then
