[upbeat rock music] Howdy there, radio listener.
• 0:23
Howdy now. Howdy now. This is Full Spectrum Cycling number 246, I believe. 8- 2468. Who do we appreciate? Let's, uh- Let's not go- Let's not go- The Ca- the California Raisin Let's not go to- Slumpy...
• 0:38
2,468 episodes, okay? Um, that would be a long time. Yeah. We've been doing this a long time, though. Mm-hmm. We got our 10-year anniversary party coming up. Party, party, party. Did you see the invite? I did. Okay.
• 0:53
Did you see the invite, JK? Yes, I am. All right. Okay. I'm, I'm, I'm hitting it next day off, I think. Just keep going a second. Just checking. Just to be safe. You had to take Tuesday off?
• 1:02
I don't know, they don't s- they- I'm gonna take Wednesday off... or Wednesday off. [laughs] They don't s- well, they don't stay open that late over there. I don't know how long we can linger after 10:00. That's true.
• 1:12
But- But... still- The intake and the- And that beer... the post, the, the beer is, uh- You have four of those and your day is- Ooh, your next day... next day is gonna be- Not so-... interesting... interesting.
• 1:22
Uh, we've got confirmed, Mr. Jeff Scanlan and Mars of El Rongo- Right on... coming to do some jam sessioning. Testicles. [laughs] They've got a new EP coming out, so- Nice...
• 1:34
he said, "Well, how about we- Play something new... play something from our new EP?" Oh, that'd be awesome. How'd, how'd that be? I know. He said, "That would be great."
• 1:43
This is, uh, April 2nd, Tuesday, at, in the back room at Amorphic, so anybody's in the area, come on down. I invited a bunch of people on the Facebook. Yes, there was a good- Are we-... amount of interest...
• 1:56
are we doing the show live? We can do something a little showy. I would like to get some recording of, um, El Rongo for sure. I just have to interface with Jeff and see how the technology will play together well.
• 2:09
We could, we could be doing the podcast with them playing around us. In other words, no one would hear anything we were saying. [laughs] And that would probably be a good thing. We'd be okay. Yeah.
• 2:19
Um, thinking, uh, maybe a little Scardina's finger food. I'm gonna put that on your plate, though. What? Well, we were in there and they love the hell out of you, and I'm like, "Well, I'm not getting any love over here."
• 2:30
Yeah. So I'm feeling good. [mimicking eating noises] I'm feeling, I'm feeling like a fish out of water. No, you got a beaker. You got a beaker mouth going there.
• 2:37
[laughs] See, what you don't realize is you don't talk like I do. That's true. I'm, uh- And, you know, they're freaking Sicilian, man. They wanna know who the hell you are when you're buying stuff from them.
• 2:50
Damian knows who the hell I am. I know that. Well, that's all that matters. But, but you know I'd need to hang out with Peter and- Yeah... and Mrs.
• 2:55
Scardina and, and I mean, I'm sorry that was- I know, I feel like Peter, they know who I am.
• 2:59
They just- Although, I do have to say after Saturday we'll get to this part, I guess I'm walking in it already, but, uh, that pizza and two beers is, like, gonna stop me dead in my tracks if I ever do that again.
• 3:10
It was filling. It's like, yeah, and it absorbs all the beer. And then, so this is the, this is the one they do by the slice at Scardina. It's Sicilian style. Sicilian. Oh. I've never had a crust like that before.
• 3:20
It's not doughy like a Chicago style. Nope. It's- It's almost like a pastry. Or like a cornbread. Yeah, but it's really thick. Yeah. It's good. And absorbs beer like a sponge. Absorbs, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
• 3:32
Because their normal, um, take and bake is a thin. It's thin and it's gorgeous. Thin crust, yeah. I like it actually. Right on. Secret is double sauce. I tell everyone that. All right, that's good to know.
• 3:40
Everyone orders double sauce. Everyone orders double sauce now. Well, the sauce, the sauce is good. Yeah. [laughs] Yeah, double sauce me a Little Caesars menu. So they- Yeah... they do have a catering menu.
• 3:49
I'm gonna see what we get for a response and try and figure something out with Damian. I've got his, uh, Roadrunner hip pack all f- figured out, so we might do- Nice... a little zippity- Wheeling and dealing...
• 3:59
zippity, zippity-zap somehow. Yeah, I like that. I like that. And it's a nice bag, too. Um, but he was, he was admiring yours, see? [laughs] M- making, making friends and getting rid of Roadrunner stuff.
• 4:11
[laughs] Speaking of getting r- rid of stuff, swap meet. Swap meet. Swap meet at Riverside. Did you see the Channel 58 thing? Uh, I didn't catch the audio. You showed a little bit to me last night- It was like-...
• 4:23
at BWMC... yeah, it was- The car smasher... we're kind of sort of in the very back- Yeah... for part of it. Like, for a second. Successfully avoided actually having to talk on camera. [laughs] Yep.
• 4:35
But it was, uh, it was mediocre. Yeah, it was- I would say it was- Turnout was pretty low.
• 4:41
Yeah, it wasn't, uh, it wasn't setting the world on fire, but for something that's been kind of on hold for a few years, I think it was okay. I was happy to unload a few things and- Sold a couple of things.
• 4:51
I picked up- Sold a couple things... a couple things. I think I- Well, I got a damn deal on those, like, little, uh, handlebar koozies. Oh, yeah. Holsters. Was it like a buck? Buck each. I, um- Like brand new...
• 5:03
send on I spent $3. Two. [laughs] That was a good, uh, a good trade. Yeah, between trades- Made, trade, trade some made... and, and money and, yeah.
• 5:12
I successfully didn't buy anything because it was really a deal about trying to- Sure... pay rent next month- Yeah, yeah, yeah... for the shop. Uh, speaking of paying rent, I got a button.
• 5:23
[gasps] Welcome to the radio program caller. Who do we have on the line? Stupid ass Big Sexy. Stupid ass Big Sexy. [laughs] Wow. I'm s- I'm so sorry, guys. I got busy down here in Noah.
• 5:41
I got busy and I couldn't check in and, uh, and then I forgot to check in, or I, or I couldn't check in or whatever. No worries. We got other- I, I know, but-... we, we got other friends. You're not our only friend.
• 5:55
Don't worry about it. [laughs] I know, but, uh, but I felt terrible because I, I, I specifically told you I was gonna call in and then I didn't I, I feel like an asshole. What's keeping you busy in, uh, in the Big Easy?
• 6:12
Well, I'm working in a shitty French Quarter kitchen. Okay. And you, you know, you know what's, you know what's the most unique part about that, a shitty French Quarter kitchen? Do tell.
• 6:27
They're all, they're all the same. [laughs] I was kinda gonna make that, uh, observation. Was gonna say. Right. What are you doing in the kitchen? Um, I, I'm just, I, I'm, I'm, I'm basically the help.
• 6:45
Gotcha. The, the big, the big, the big boss knows I'm not gonna be around for a long time. I don't know who else knows, but I'm just basically like, "Hey, tell me to do something. Tell me to portion the pasta.
• 6:57
Tell me to, you know, whatever." I'm, I'm basically the kitchen bitch. [laughs] They're just fine with me as long as I get a paycheck every week. Right. Sure, sure.
• 7:07
What's, uh, what's your hard-earned, uh, cash gonna be going for? Yeah, when you leaving? Well, I'll tell you what.
• 7:14
Heather, Heather is, is, uh, uh, uh, is, has been diagnosed with stage four you're not going, you're not leaving New Orleans. Yeah, I saw, I saw something about that- Uh-huh...
• 7:29
but didn't get the full, the full, uh, uh, story on it. Yeah. But check this out. I got a story for you guys. I think you're gonna like it.
• 7:38
I hope, I hope you got time for me 'cause it's a, it, it is, it's quite the story.
• 7:45
But yeah, um, I brought, I brought Heather to my bike guy in New Orleans, and, and me, me and this bike guy, we, we go a long, we go way back, we go back longer than, than me and you, Sam. A, a, no offense or nothing.
• 8:01
Oh, no problem. [laughs] But he go, he go, he, he, he goes, "She, she ain't leaving New Orleans." And I said, "Okay." And I started looking at bikes. I started looking at Schwinn Meridian Tricycles online, and, uh,
• 8:20
the other week, I came across a, a s- a Schwinn Meridian Tricycle, 26 inch, single speed, just like Heather, blue. I'm like, "Well, I don't want blue this time. I'm gonna, I wanna do black this time." Mm-hmm.
• 8:38
And I, I clicked on black. It was $629. A lot of extra- And I clicked back to blue- That's a lot of spray paint... yeah. I clicked b- I clicked back to blue, and then she was $259. And
• 8:56
my boss, uh, my, my inspiration, my best friend, Jason, he ordered it. She gets here on Thursday, and, uh, we're planning Heather's last ride.
• 9:09
We're gonna, we're gonna, uh, throw a party for Heather all the way through the city.
• 9:14
We're, and we're gonna ride her all the way here to the garage, and Jason's gonna put her up in the rafters here at the, in the warehouse. Awesome. Cool. That's a f- a fitting, uh, resting place.
• 9:28
And- Do, do you have a name picked out for your new one? Heather. [laughs] It's the exact same bike. It's, it's the exact same blue. It's the exact same bike.
• 9:43
I, uh, I don't think I gotta change names, do I? No, just, uh, went to the way back machine and got her back- We-... where she was new again. Right.
• 9:54
Well, in Forrest Gump, he go, he goes, "Well, we've got all sorts of boats. We got 12 Jennys." [laughs] Yeah. [laughs] So, so we, we only got two Heathers, and, and it's the exact same bike.
• 10:08
Um, I could take the basket off this one and the fenders off this one and put it on the new bike, but you know, I'm not gonna do that. I'm gonna start over. I'm gonna start fresh. Right on.
• 10:22
And, um, w- and I, I don't wanna, I don't wanna ruin nothing, so, um, uh, but I'm in contact with Schwinn. I'm in t- contact with Schwinn's, uh, public,
• 10:38
public blah, blah, blah person. [laughs] I s- I, I, I sent her an email with all my pictures of all their capitals and blah, blah, blah. I'm saying, "Hey, I'm taking off on a brand new one.
• 10:48
You wanna m- you wanna follow me and, and, you know, and make this an advertising thing? It's all good." Sounds like a- Have her back it.
• 10:58
Well, just make sure we can get it all stickered up with some stuff from Milwaukee too, Joe. There's no, uh, clauses in their contract that says you can't have a- [laughs]...
• 11:06
a damn Stenn sticker on there or a River West sticker on there. [laughs] Mm-hmm. Well, well, um, if, if I, if I were to leave tomorrow, which I'm not, because the bike, the new bike doesn't get here till Thursday anyway.
• 11:19
Um, the new bike gets here on Thursday. We're gonna put her together. I think I'm gonna be leaving around April 15th. All right. And I think I'm heading to Texas. I'm, I'm heading towards Texas,
• 11:34
and then I'm gonna, I'm gonna look, I'm gonna look at Denver. I'm gonna look at Denver. I'm gonna say, "Hey, can I get to Denver?" Now, on this Heather, no. I would not, I would not even entertain the idea.
• 11:49
But on a brand new one- [laughs] Hmm... I think I might do Denver. Oh, man. That's a lot of climbing. Yeah. Well, there's walking, walking and climbing. Well, I, my legs still work. My arms still work.
• 12:07
I, I mean, I mean, what, what am I gonna do it next year? I mean, you know, you know what I'm saying? It's like, it, it, it, you gotta stay with the positive mental attitude with the whole thing PMA, my man...
• 12:20
then, then it's like, it's like, yeah, yeah, I could... I got a brand new fucking tricycle. I can make it to fucking Denver no problem, no fucking problem. Yeah. Can- Sorry?
• 12:32
No, it, it, you, you, you can't, you, you can't sit there and be like, "Oh, I don't know. It's gonna be too much hills." Well, you got a couple months.
• 12:42
Like, the Smoky Mountains- Even, even if you're walking, it'd be, you could make it. Mm-hmm. Like, like, like the Smoky Mountains weren't enough hills for me. Eh, it's Denver's in the foothills.
• 12:52
Did anybody see any negative posts, did anybody see any negative posts on, uh, on Big Sexy's, uh, fucking Facebook saying, "Oh, my God, these hills are too much"? Uh- You know what I'm saying?
• 13:07
No, I didn't, uh, I haven't seen that. You can't, you can't sit, you can't sit at the bottom of the hill and be like, "Oh, my God, it's too much. It's too much of a hill."
• 13:20
You gotta be like, "There's a beer on top of that hill, and I'm gonna go fucking get it." Oh. Well, that's, that's a nice- Oh.
• 13:26
[bell ringing] That's a convenient, uh, statement, there's a beer on top of that hill, because, uh- 'Cause we just got to the top of the hill... we just, we just got to the top of the hill.
• 13:35
Uh, Tony, Tony brought our- Well, that's usually, that's usually what I do, is, is if, if... when I, when I come across a big-ass hill, and I remember one in Massachusetts. Right.
• 13:48
It was like a five-mile climb, and it was an 11-mile down in Massachusetts, and I was like, "Okay.
• 13:56
Well, there's a beer at that five-mile mark, and let me just cruise down 11 miles and find someplace to camp and wake up and do it again." It- you can't let it get to you, you know? Touring advice from Big Sexy.
• 14:14
So let... We'll, we'll talk about our beer real quick, and then you can tell us what hams you're drinking today. Uh, [laughs] Tony, Tony brought the, the Three Sheeps from up Sheboygan way.
• 14:25
Uh, we started with the Fluffer of Fresh Coast- Ooh... which we've had before. Yeah. But, uh, today's actual Three Sheeps is Cold IPA. What is it? Cold IPA, and- It, it's very s- it's very tasty.
• 14:40
I just licked it- Say it correctly... licked it off my hands. What? Say it correctly. [laughs] The name of the beer is... Mm-hmm. [laughs] Chimera. Chimera. Chimera. Chimera. Jesus, you're killing me. Chimera. Chimera.
• 14:56
He was a Packer player- Right? Yeah... back in the day. He got all touchy and kind of- Yeah, touchy. Oh, isn't he the guy that got, like, busted- Chimera... in the pool- Oh, yeah... with some youngsters? Yeah.
• 15:04
[laughs] Hello, dumbass. Oh, yeah. That's tasty. Warm, warm Gatorade- I like that... and vodka drinks, baby. Three Sheeps makes good beer. [laughs] Big Sexy, are you drinking beer? I am drinking beer. I'm- Pabst...
• 15:18
believe it or not, I have got a Pabst Blue Ribbon 16-ounce can open right now with a Pabst Blue Ribbon koozie around it that I got from, uh, uh, Greg, um, oh, God, I, why can't I remember his name?
• 15:36
Han? Uh, Dave's, Dave's people. Uh, uh- Greg Han?... Brad, Brad and Greg. Oh. Oh, right, right, right, right. Yeah. Um, little, tiny arms. Uh- And- Christy and Greg. I- Tiny arms, yeah. Damn straight. Yeah.
• 15:50
[laughs] I know who you're talking about. And, yeah, that, that koozie, that koozie's still rocking, and I am sipping on, uh, a pint of Canadian Mist. Ooh, no ru- no Rumple Minze? Jägermeister. Or Jäger- Jägermeister.
• 16:05
Jägermeister. Jägermeister. You know what? Jägermei- y- you know, you know what? I've got my Jägermeister fairies around town, around New Orleans, and that's enough. I don't need to buy Jägermeister, too.
• 16:17
[laughs] You know- I mean, literally-... maybe they should sp- they should sponsor your next role. Jägermeister sponsored Big Sexy. They, they, they, they see my face, and they pour me a Jägermeister- [laughs]...
• 16:30
whether I ask them to or not, which is, which is becoming a problem sometimes. Yeah. [laughs] I could see that. Because- You're not-...
• 16:37
every once in a while, I'm, I'm just, I'm just stru- strolling through town on my way to work, and they're like, "Hey, Beckhouse." And I'm like, "What?" Like, they, they present me a full cup of Jägermeister.
• 16:48
I'm like, "I gotta go work. Oh, God damn it." You know? So do you make it to work, or do you say, "Uh, Jägermeister break"? Yeah. No, no. [laughs] Um, so, so- "I have to go outside and contribute-...
• 17:03
here's how it happened... to the street gravy." [laughs] And I don't know, I don't know if you guys cau- caught this or not, but it was like, uh, um, I had this, I, I, I...
• 17:15
m- my boss, um, well, I'm, I'm in a shitty French Quarter kitchen. It, it, absolutely shitty, but it's the way forward, right? So he says, "Do you wanna do direct deposit, or do you wanna do..."
• 17:30
You know, 'cause he can, he, he'll just cash my check and give me cash. So I had this whole thing raring to go.
• 17:39
I went direct deposit so I can Venmo my brother the money for the tricycle, and then when it came time, he'd buy the tricycle and get it shipped down here. Now, everything was going great until
• 17:57
we found a Heather, exact same Schwinn Meridian, exact same, for $250 on amazon.com, but it was blue. I wanted to change the color. I wanted to have a different color.
• 18:16
Yeah. We, we discussed this at the beginning of the show. [laughs]Right. Did, did, did I, did I do this already? I'm so sorry Yeah. Yeah, yeah Edit that out. I'm so sorry No, that's all right.
• 18:25
[laughs] It, maybe it sounds better the second time But the black, the, the black one was $629 and the blue one was $250. Guess what I chose? Blue, of course. Yep. Right on. So, yeah. Oh, yeah.
• 18:42
Well, uh- You can start all over... so the 15th, that's not even a month away. You're getting ready to, getting ready to roll. I'm getting ready. And, I mean, and for the most part I was ready to r- I, I...
• 18:55
I mean, come on, if you're in my position, you're always ready to roll. Fair enough. If, if, if, i- if, if we're on Princess Leia's ship in the beginning of, uh, Star Wars: A New Hope- Tantive IV...
• 19:13
I've got my escape pod- [laughs]... and her name is Heather. [laughs] I can get the fuck out of here anytime. Awesome, man. But guess what?
• 19:21
I'm gonna, I'm gonna sit here and, and, uh, and earn some money and get some new gear, and I'm gonna be heading, and I'm looking at Denver. I'm looking at Denver. Well, ha ha ha. All right. Yep.
• 19:34
Well, let's c- let's catch up with you once you hit the road, or, uh, maybe right before.
• 19:38
Yeah After Heather's last ride, uh, take some photos of that and let us- He- Heather, Heather, Heather's last ride, Heather's last ride is a real thing.
• 19:47
If anybody wants to donate, please put my Venmo on the, uh, on, on the thing. And, uh, we're, I mean, we're gonna have a party, man.
• 19:56
We're, we're, we're gonna, I'm gonna ride her 10 miles from uptown to Araby, and we're gonna have a, a parade of cars and bikes and whatever the fuck, and we're gonna,
• 20:09
we're, we're gonna, we'll be blaring music and we're, we're gonna se- we're gonna send her off good. But, but yeah, the, the, the bike that you all know and love is gonna be here in Araby for the rest of time.
• 20:24
But, um, I got a brand new one coming on Thursday, and I'm just gonna take her out and, and then we'll start putting key chains and stickers on her and shit. Right on. All right, man. No big whoop. All right.
• 20:38
Start, start over. Thanks for the update. Appreciate it. And, uh, you know, again, call us, uh, call us again. We're, we're here on Tuesdays, not Wednesdays. Absolutely. [laughs] All right, brother. Talk to you soon.
• 20:53
All right. Love you guys. Okay. River West is the best. Peace. Big Sexy out. Right on, right on. Big Sexy there, ladies and gentlemen.
• 21:04
We, he's, he, he [laughs] he's been kinda calling in and, uh, we've been missing him time-wise. Just missing the mark. Yeah. Yep... a little, little mis- missed connection.
• 21:12
Thank goodness Can we, can we get that in the... Is that, do they have that in the Shepherd Express still or, or maybe- I don't know. Is there?... River West Currents or something? Probably... missed, missed connection.
• 21:20
There's still papers. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Well, it's good to hear from him. Um- I have a feeling, I know, which, well, in my own experience of New Orleans restaurants- We-...
• 21:29
I have a feeling [laughs] the...
• 21:32
I just had one bad experience at one restaurant, so I'll attribute to the shitty restaurant [laughs] as being the one I think- In the spirit of, in the spirit of Big Sexy, we already talked about Justin Timberlake's birthday.
• 21:41
We did, did we? We... Uh, did we? I don't think we did. Uh- I was just gonna, about to say. I mean, we ended up at, at, um, Fixture Pizza. I saw the picture. First of all, we went to- Who got the big salad?
• 21:53
I, I now- I, uh- I now concur with Tony on that as one of the dang best Caesar salads- It is a damn good salad... in the dang old Milwaukee area. I didn't see an action picture of the salad. Five people got it.
• 22:02
Oh, funny. Yeah. And then Adrian got a sandwich with a side. [laughs] Fucking Adrian, wow. And then at the end of the meal, Dave's like, "Uh, I don't have enough money to pay for mine." [laughs] Oh, didn't he?
• 22:15
Oh, that jackass. [laughs] Um, but let's discuss the pain we had to go through first at Best Buy's. Oh, no. Oh, no. I forgot. What was that? The, the- The, the-... the fairy revel?
• 22:28
I, I'm- There were, there were many people dressed in- Jousting outfits and- Yeah, I'm not even sure it was exactly Ren Fair stuff. It kinda was... I'm not sure either. There were- In the spirit of... yeah...
• 22:37
but on the fairy side of things, and they had taken over all- Sometimes you've just got to slap them in the face... oh, they, they took over- It was, they took over the whole place...
• 22:46
I have a, I have a picture of a man playing a lute. Yes. I can put it in the show notes. [laughs] I said that I- His, his name was, his name was Dan the Bard. [laughs] I wanted to Dan slap that guy 'cause,
• 22:57
I don't know- Yeah, it was-... To- Tony seemed to have more problem with it than, than- I, it was brutal... Jim Franzen was like- Having a great time... "This is cool. I wanna go see- Oh, yeah...
• 23:04
I wanna go see the," uh, they had, like- I-... an, an indoor, uh, vendor area where you could buy all sorts of- I see. Yeah, that you were supposed to sign up for... trinkets and accessories and gauntlets. Yeah.
• 23:14
Although I did see my, a, a good friend there. That was cute. Um, she's very nice, and I should've known I would run into her there, but anyway. Verily, what are ye doing here, young man? It was a lot of that.
• 23:26
Yes, there was a lot of that. There was, there was clashing of, of swords and- So yeah, like a Ren Fair. Yeah. I mean, yeah, it was- A mini Ren Fair... it was pretty brutal. Yeah.
• 23:33
That was- I texted Molly with a picture saying, "I'm in hell." [laughs] Mostly related to the musical choices? Yes. I cannot stand gourd music as I like to call Irish music. It just doesn't seem to change.
• 23:45
Ah, I only, I only hit four Dropkick Murphys shipping up to Boston on Sunday, the day of the Paddy.
• 23:54
I, I started count right in the beginning, and I was on Southside Irish, Southside Irish parade, man, and that was- And the second-... whoosh... the second-best Dropkick Murphy song is?
• 24:03
[laughs] Oh, the, the- It's a, it's a trick question. None of them are any good. [laughs] Yeah. I fell into the slaw trap as I was reading that. I'm like- That was pretty good... "Oh, yeah, go slaw go."
• 24:13
I can make a case for good songs, but- They're okay... I, I don't need to lean into it too hard. They're okay. If given the choice, I'll go with The Pogues. Yeah. Black 47. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
• 24:22
So did you guys- If we're living there... did you read the show notes, Tony? Mm-hmm. Oh. Mm-mm. So- Mm-hmm... uh, Rolling Stone Magazine- We talked about this though...
• 24:29

• 24:55
And I was, uh, so I was kinda, it was like he said, "Yes, we're gonna be closed." And then he said, "Not just 'cause of those guys,
• 25:05
but I don't wanna listen to everybody on my team bitch and complain about those guys either." [laughs] So it's like, you know, ev- He's a no bullshit guy...
• 25:12
everybody's gonna come in here, and they're gonna sit around, and then they're gonna be, like, bitching about... It's like, no, I'm not having any of that. So they're closed.
• 25:20
And- No, he's playing chess on that one, man... I think it's a good- Full on... it's gonna be a good- I think it's a good move.
• 25:24

• 26:32
Yeah, but then you gotta replace all your beds 'cause those fuckers slept in them. Yeah, they're... about time to replace them anyway though. I suppose. So for 4,500 I can do some- You probably do that...
• 26:41

• 26:49
