- 0:00Speaker 1: Finally somebody is willing to say it out loud. It's
- 0:01Speaker 1: one more thing, one.
- 0:05Speaker 2: More Nobody's had the guts to say it until now. Apparently.
- 0:12Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on here, but I'm excited.
- 0:17Speaker 1: First of all, Katie mentioned going to McDonald's. Oh what'd
- 0:19Speaker 1: you get at McDonald's And was this a pregnant woman craving?
- 0:24Speaker 3: Yes, it was a pregnant woman craving that I put
- 0:26Speaker 3: off for about a week and a half and I
- 0:30Speaker 3: ended up getting a McChicken and a double cheeseburger and fries.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Is this the new McChicken? No, there's a new chicken.
- 0:39Speaker 3: It's called that's called the mc crispy.
- 0:41Speaker 1: I'm not playing that game. I'm going to old school.
- 0:45Speaker 2: There you go.
- 0:46Speaker 1: I'm not playing that game. I almost got the mccrispy
- 0:49Speaker 1: the other day because it looked pretty good. But it
- 0:51Speaker 1: did look good, but no, I wanted that game. I
- 0:53Speaker 1: wanted the old school McChicken for way too long.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Yeah, do you have a Chick fil A within driving distance?
- 1:03Speaker 1: I do you do?
- 1:04Speaker 2: But you went with the McDonald's instead.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Oh it cares nothing. There is a flat it's like
- 1:10Speaker 3: kind of like you know, Subway has that certain taste
- 1:12Speaker 3: and smell. McDonald's has the same thing.
- 1:15Speaker 1: You just can't once you Yeah, did you have anything
- 1:17Speaker 1: with it? Do you have fries or anything? I did.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I got a medium fry and clearly there's nothing like
- 1:21Speaker 1: McDonald's fries. Yeah, you get a mcfluury.
- 1:25Speaker 3: I did not. I am not a child.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Well said, that's a damn good dessert, though, Oh boy.
- 1:31Speaker 1: I took the kids to McDonald's and I wondered, I thought,
- 1:35Speaker 1: are we going to regret this? And we all enjoyed it.
- 1:38Speaker 1: It was delicious. It's not good for you, but it was.
- 1:40Speaker 1: It was freaking good, so good. I had a quarter
- 1:42Speaker 1: pounder with cheese no onions, which is one of my
- 1:43Speaker 1: go tos with fries, and it was it was just good.
- 1:46Speaker 1: It was expensive, but it was good. Speaking of eating
- 1:49Speaker 1: like that, I wondered when this might happen. You got
- 1:53Speaker 1: a former body positive influencer who's come out and said
- 1:57Speaker 1: these people are radicals, and I was brainwalking. Very big woman,
- 2:03Speaker 1: h five foot tall, four hundred pounds, Holy hell, pretty big,
- 2:10Speaker 1: but very attractive and very pretty face. You know, just
- 2:15Speaker 1: do you have her name? What is her name? Here?
- 2:17Speaker 1: I do have her name Gabriella Lescano, okay, and she
- 2:26Speaker 1: became a champion of the body positivity movement, on the
- 2:29Speaker 1: cover of all kinds of magazines about loving yourself at
- 2:33Speaker 1: any size and all that sort of stuff. And then
- 2:35Speaker 1: as she got a little bit older, because she became
- 2:38Speaker 1: famous when she's quite young, but she got a tiny
- 2:40Speaker 1: bit older, and she said, some days I would look
- 2:42Speaker 1: at photos and not even recognize myself and my height
- 2:45Speaker 1: and weight, and I became really uncomfortable with my weight.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I just I didn't feel good. It was very hard
- 2:53Speaker 1: to like, I couldn't ride rides at the amusement park,
- 2:56Speaker 1: and just all these different things she didn't like about
- 2:57Speaker 1: being that size. And then when she starts to talk
- 3:00Speaker 1: about wanting to lose weight, they got really hostile toward her,
- 3:05Speaker 1: about being you know, fat, shaming people and you're a
- 3:08Speaker 1: traitor to us and all this diff and she realized
- 3:11Speaker 1: that it was a bit of a racket as opposed
- 3:16Speaker 1: to your really work looking out for what's best for people.
- 3:19Speaker 1: She bought into the idea that you know, you're trying to,
- 3:22Speaker 1: you know, make people like me who are big feel
- 3:25Speaker 1: good about themselves. But no, they're hostile toward the idea
- 3:28Speaker 1: of losing weight and eating healthy, she realized, and so
- 3:31Speaker 1: now she has turned on them.
- 3:34Speaker 3: One thing I've noticed about these body positivity pages and
- 3:37Speaker 3: it was when I was a big girl. They were
- 3:41Speaker 3: suggested to me on Instagram and TikTok. These pages would
- 3:46Speaker 3: just end up in my for you and like you said,
- 3:50Speaker 3: it was a way to make big girls feel better
- 3:51Speaker 3: about themselves. But then it really turns you away from any.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Push to get healthy.
- 4:01Speaker 3: So and your why when you look at the they
- 4:03Speaker 3: argue about how healthy they are, They argue about how
- 4:05Speaker 3: you know, working out is not even what it's you
- 4:08Speaker 3: know it's about I've been working out for years and
- 4:10Speaker 3: it did nothing, and it gives you every reason to not.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Which is the last thing I need to hear. Yeah.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like every drunk wants everybody else to have
- 4:20Speaker 2: another drink, too, right, and every stoner wants everybody to
- 4:24Speaker 2: get high, and just because you know that's true, better
- 4:28Speaker 2: about yourself.
- 4:28Speaker 1: But there wasn't a giant nationwide be a drunk movement
- 4:33Speaker 1: in which you you talked about how great it is
- 4:35Speaker 1: to be a drunk and shamed anybody who had anything
- 4:38Speaker 1: criticals to say about it, because that'd be crazy. Well right, yeah,
- 4:42Speaker 1: but they did that for being, you know, obese at
- 4:46Speaker 1: a really unhealthy level, to be unkind, there's no excuse
- 4:49Speaker 1: for that ever, if somebody's overweight.
- 4:52Speaker 2: But that's not what we're talking about, and that's the
- 4:54Speaker 2: and that's what they always put up. They attack the
- 4:56Speaker 2: straw man of quote unquote fat shaming. No, you seem
- 5:00Speaker 2: like a good person. I care about you. I want
- 5:02Speaker 2: you to not die prematurely. That's not shaming.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Leskana said that she eventually saw the body positivity community
- 5:10Speaker 1: become hostile toward weight loss and exercise like you were saying, Katie,
- 5:14Speaker 1: even for health purposes, which led her to turning on
- 5:17Speaker 1: the movement. Then she really realized what they were like.
- 5:21Speaker 1: But as the body positivity community became more radical, I
- 5:24Speaker 1: was scared to say the wrong thing, so I stayed silent.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Then a friend of mine died and I decided to
- 5:29Speaker 1: speak out. But everybody came after me, trying to make
- 5:32Speaker 1: me feel guilty for saying anything and being fatphobic and
- 5:36Speaker 1: blah blah blah. Who's the big singer who Lizzo? She
- 5:41Speaker 1: has talked about that since she lost all her weight,
- 5:44Speaker 1: that a lot of people turned on her when she
- 5:46Speaker 1: lost weight and she's she says, I'm healthier now. This
- 5:48Speaker 1: was clearly a good idea, but a lot of people
- 5:51Speaker 1: are very critical of me. That's an interesting thing.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Yeah, It's like I was saying, everybody wants feel better
- 6:00Speaker 2: about themselves, and that's why. You know, the flip side
- 6:03Speaker 2: of that is the proverb or whatever it is about
- 6:06Speaker 2: the metaphor about crabs pulling the other crabs back down
- 6:09Speaker 2: into the bucket if they try to climb out. It's
- 6:13Speaker 2: a terrible malady, it might be. It's one of the
- 6:17Speaker 2: two candidates for the most serious problems with poor inner
- 6:22Speaker 2: city culture is the kids shaming the other kids for
- 6:26Speaker 2: learning or acting white or whatever the epithet might be.
- 6:29Speaker 2: It's terrible.
- 6:30Speaker 1: I was around that. I was around that a lot
- 6:33Speaker 1: in rural area, grown men in their forties who did
- 6:38Speaker 1: really mundane labor for low wages, who really had a
- 6:46Speaker 1: bad attitude about any Like when they found out I
- 6:48Speaker 1: was going to go to college as a high school kid,
- 6:51Speaker 1: just you know, really trashed that whole idea, like you're
- 6:54Speaker 1: being traitor to your class or something.
- 7:00Speaker 3: God, that's such a weird mentality to trash that rather
- 7:02Speaker 3: than merely motivated.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Clearly human nature though. I mean, yeah, people do it.
- 7:06Speaker 1: It's it's bad, it's really awful. You got to watch
- 7:09Speaker 1: out for it. M I thought that's really interesting. I mean,
- 7:13Speaker 1: you're forty years old and you're slinging hay bales for
- 7:15Speaker 1: five dollars an hour. But somebody else who tries to
- 7:19Speaker 1: do end up with something maybe better, easier than this
- 7:22Speaker 1: is crab buckets. Yeah, exactly, bucket of crabs. Oh so good.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I'm hungry. I'm trying to go get it pregnant, lady.
- 7:36Speaker 1: I don't have trouble with the crabs. You can talk
- 7:38Speaker 1: about too much work. I don't want to put that
- 7:40Speaker 1: much with crabs. Very good, that's what I was thinking.
- 7:44Speaker 2: That needs to be the title of the podcast. That
- 7:47Speaker 2: needs to be a drop Hanson.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I should put that on my bumble page, right
- 7:53Speaker 1: on the profile
