- 0:08Speaker 2: The World's a Vigeon podcast.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:19Speaker 3: One question, what happened to Fred? I didn't get to
- 0:21Speaker 3: hear what would you guys?
- 0:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I just it was time pickleball vacation.
- 0:25Speaker 4: What I was wondering is could you somehow package you know,
- 0:29Speaker 4: I know I sound like a caller.
- 0:31Speaker 5: I'm trying to like fall in love with somebody at
- 0:33Speaker 5: thirty one and I just kind of can't keep.
- 0:36Speaker 1: It on the apps like the scouting out.
- 0:38Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, I'm not.
- 0:40Speaker 5: I'm not like you know, I'm not. So I've been
- 0:42Speaker 5: left like I'm not saying no to anybody.
- 0:44Speaker 1: No, you go out there, you test his corese strains,
- 0:47Speaker 1: if you go.
- 0:47Speaker 6: Strip, if I get the term of course strength, one
- 0:50Speaker 6: more time.
- 0:50Speaker 5: With the punter quickly like short, just do it on
- 0:53Speaker 5: like the seventh round and that's.
- 0:55Speaker 6: Really for you.
- 0:56Speaker 5: It just what I mean, like, I'm not over there.
- 0:59Speaker 6: And the worst kickoff return team was six yards.
- 1:02Speaker 4: One list first down you need to get in field
- 1:04Speaker 4: goal range.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Aff Yeah, you know, all right, we're back in. That
- 1:06Speaker 1: was Eric Sullivan. That was the funniest thing I ever
- 1:09Speaker 1: heard him say on one of.
- 1:10Speaker 7: You know what that's from?
- 1:11Speaker 6: Yeah, it was the only time I left.
- 1:12Speaker 1: That's there, not unwarranted.
- 1:17Speaker 8: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website. For deals,
- 1:22Speaker 8: buy a Toyota dot com.
- 1:26Speaker 9: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. Here it is Thursday
- 1:30Speaker 9: at Gillette Stadium. And that's right, no Fred again, and
- 1:33Speaker 9: we're down another man. Paul is out as well, So
- 1:37Speaker 9: we call these the kids shows. I'm not sure any
- 1:39Speaker 9: I mean, I certainly don't qualify.
- 1:40Speaker 10: I'm married now, I'm un your unc.
- 1:45Speaker 9: Yeah, what is the official definition of unkin old guys?
- 1:49Speaker 11: Yeah, like a big technically Uncle? Yeah, Uncle yeah, Uncle,
- 1:54Speaker 11: need to ask that, well, Uncle.
- 2:00Speaker 12: I'll tell you guys about my instance. I think last
- 2:03Speaker 12: season with Kaisha on Booty in the locker room.
- 2:05Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 2:07Speaker 2: One time he asked Tamara how old we were, and
- 2:10Speaker 2: he found.
- 2:10Speaker 12: Out that we were at thirties, and he was like, wait,
- 2:14Speaker 12: you guys are old.
- 2:15Speaker 2: And then he's like, respectfully, I was like.
- 2:19Speaker 6: Asking a girl how old she was.
- 2:22Speaker 9: He also struggled with Drake Drake May May too, so
- 2:24Speaker 9: you know, it's okay, we're trying to help Keisha on there.
- 2:27Speaker 12: But but we Didale right.
- 2:31Speaker 9: Well, we gave you a football pack show on Tuesday,
- 2:34Speaker 9: I think, and we are two weeks from the draft,
- 2:36Speaker 9: and the Hall of Fame announcements have come out as
- 2:38Speaker 9: well for the finalists, so we'll talk a little bit
- 2:40Speaker 9: about that as well, and hopefully maybe we'll find some
- 2:43Speaker 9: fun topics to talk about as well to get us
- 2:45Speaker 9: through these two hours here as we count down, Because
- 2:48Speaker 9: as I said yesterday, I was doing an interview for
- 2:50Speaker 9: our draft show, and I was like, I kind of
- 2:52Speaker 9: get draft fatigue at this point, and then you start
- 2:54Speaker 9: to get a lot of like misinformation and things about well,
- 2:58Speaker 9: that guy, you know, he's got some issues that we
- 2:59Speaker 9: didn't know about until April fifteenth or whatever it is.
- 3:03Speaker 9: So I get kind of sick of it. And then
- 3:04Speaker 9: I get to the point where I'm like, just get
- 3:05Speaker 9: me to the end of the draft.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Tell me who we got. Yeah, let me jump in
- 3:08Speaker 1: on these guys.
- 3:09Speaker 9: But I'm curious with you because I don't think anybody
- 3:12Speaker 9: works harder on than YouTube.
- 3:13Speaker 6: Do you get do you get the draft?
- 3:15Speaker 1: Do you get?
- 3:15Speaker 9: Draft?
- 3:15Speaker 2: Te works harder than I'm on Lazarre.
- 3:17Speaker 5: No, not at all, honestly. Now, we were doing a
- 3:23Speaker 5: lot of our draft content, like now it's time to
- 3:25Speaker 5: turn it into content. Like I did all this research
- 3:28Speaker 5: for the lead up of the draft, and now it's
- 3:30Speaker 5: time to turn it all into our big boards and
- 3:32Speaker 5: our mock drafts and all that kind of stuff. But
- 3:35Speaker 5: then the beast comes out and there's always like twenty
- 3:38Speaker 5: to twenty five guys that Dan has ranked really high
- 3:42Speaker 5: that weren't exactly on my radar. So then I this
- 3:45Speaker 5: like panic sets in two weeks before the draft. So
- 3:48Speaker 5: then I this is like where I start to cram,
- 3:51Speaker 5: you know, like the last like you know, like probably
- 3:54Speaker 5: twenty guys I think are on my list that I
- 3:56Speaker 5: want to get to in the for in the next
- 3:58Speaker 5: two weeks. So your day three guys, not guys that
- 4:01Speaker 5: you know. It's not like I haven't watched first round players.
- 4:03Speaker 5: But no, there's no fatigue, Like there's no none whatsoever, if.
- 4:07Speaker 12: Anything, you're having like withdrawals this year because you didn't
- 4:10Speaker 12: get to spend enough time on it.
- 4:11Speaker 6: Yeah, No, I'm really upset that I.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Last year Week five Evans starting up.
- 4:16Speaker 5: I really upset that I didn't Honestly, Drake May's draft
- 4:24Speaker 5: was the peak.
- 4:26Speaker 6: That was the pinnacle for me.
- 4:30Speaker 5: Because I went to the Senior Bowl and then I
- 4:32Speaker 5: went to Jaden Daniels and Drake May's pro days as well.
- 4:36Speaker 5: And I got to say, being not so much the
- 4:40Speaker 5: l S one because the LC one was crowded, but
- 4:43Speaker 5: being at the Drake May's Pro Day was like one
- 4:46Speaker 5: of the coolest things ever. Like I I really felt
- 4:49Speaker 5: like I was like I'm a scout now, Like look
- 4:51Speaker 5: at me at the pro day. It was awesome, Like
- 4:54Speaker 5: that was great, but like that's the only position I
- 4:57Speaker 5: feel like quarterback that you can really get much out
- 5:00Speaker 5: of that.
- 5:01Speaker 6: Like I don't feel like if.
- 5:02Speaker 5: You go watch like a defensive lineman at a pro day,
- 5:05Speaker 5: there's no pads, Like you're not hitting anybody. Yeah, maybe
- 5:09Speaker 5: receivers like watching them run routes on air, like you
- 5:11Speaker 5: can kind of see how they move and how explosive
- 5:14Speaker 5: they are and things like that. But that draft season,
- 5:17Speaker 5: I don't know if that will ever be top that
- 5:18Speaker 5: was Like I was, I went full milk kiper, like
- 5:22Speaker 5: I I was just completely your wedding.
- 5:25Speaker 12: Drake May's Pro day.
- 5:28Speaker 10: Top ten and we double dipped with the quarterbasket. We
- 5:31Speaker 10: took Joe Milton too.
- 5:32Speaker 5: Yeah right, yeah, who had to go outside on his
- 5:35Speaker 5: pro day because the dome couldn't hold him if they
- 5:38Speaker 5: go outside. But I remember a Drake May's proda and
- 5:41Speaker 5: I probably told this story before, but I was standing
- 5:43Speaker 5: on the on the sideline, like basically almost in the
- 5:46Speaker 5: end zone because I was trying to stay out of
- 5:48Speaker 5: the way as much as I possibly could. And he
- 5:51Speaker 5: threw a pass to tes Walker, a deep ball down
- 5:55Speaker 5: the sideline about probably fifty to fifty five yards in
- 5:58Speaker 5: the air, and it just lands right in the bread
- 6:01Speaker 5: basket in stride to tes Walker, and I just looked
- 6:04Speaker 5: at the person standing next to me and was like whoa.
- 6:07Speaker 5: And he was like, yeah, that was that was sick.
- 6:10Speaker 5: And I was like at that point on I was
- 6:11Speaker 5: I was in love. I was like, yep, that's the guy.
- 6:14Speaker 10: I remember both you guys in the draft countdown being
- 6:16Speaker 10: like I'm good with either of these guys, Jade Daniels
- 6:18Speaker 10: or Drake Like anything's upgrade at this point.
- 6:20Speaker 6: Jaden Daniels is prode.
- 6:21Speaker 5: Like Drake May's pro day, he featured a lot of
- 6:24Speaker 5: like his movement ability and like off script and off
- 6:27Speaker 5: platform and he was moving around and the guys were
- 6:30Speaker 5: running at him and he was like dodging them. Jade
- 6:32Speaker 5: and Daniels stood in the middle of the field and
- 6:35Speaker 5: through like thirty five darts, just standing right in the
- 6:38Speaker 5: same spot in the middle of the field and did
- 6:41Speaker 5: some drops from under center and just was like showing
- 6:44Speaker 5: that he could be like a pocket passer. And the
- 6:46Speaker 5: accuracy was just immediately stood out, like he was just
- 6:49Speaker 5: pinpoint accurate.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Did you notice Drake's downfield accuracy?
- 6:52Speaker 9: That was what when we got him in OTAs here,
- 6:54Speaker 9: it was like, whoa, this kid can throw the ball
- 6:55Speaker 9: down the field.
- 6:56Speaker 5: Yeah, Like Drake May was doing the pro day throws
- 6:58Speaker 5: like he was like rolling to was right.
- 7:00Speaker 6: And throwing back to the left.
- 7:02Speaker 5: You're throwing deep balls down the field, throwing on the move,
- 7:06Speaker 5: and uh, it was the just the natural like gumbiness
- 7:10Speaker 5: of his body to throw off platform. And then the
- 7:12Speaker 5: downfield accuracy really really stood out with him. But but
- 7:16Speaker 5: Jaden Daniels, it was clinical like he just was in
- 7:19Speaker 5: the same spot, really quiet mechanics like didn't easy velocity,
- 7:25Speaker 5: easy accuracy. Drake Mays was a little bit more up
- 7:28Speaker 5: and down to be honest with you, like there was
- 7:30Speaker 5: definitely some may sprays that day, but the wow throws
- 7:34Speaker 5: were like, Okay, this guy's legit.
- 7:36Speaker 9: Yeah, I've been I've been spending the last couple of
- 7:38Speaker 9: days in the Beast and you know, it was was
- 7:40Speaker 9: cracking me up though today as that was like the
- 7:42Speaker 9: biographies that he gets where it was like, you know,
- 7:44Speaker 9: raised in a two bedroom house in Odessa, Texas with
- 7:48Speaker 9: a father and his stepmother, you know, and his brother
- 7:50Speaker 9: is his seven brothers, like you know, he goes in
- 7:52Speaker 9: so much step and I'm like, this is all great,
- 7:54Speaker 9: but like, can I just get the little blurb about
- 7:56Speaker 9: the football part.
- 7:57Speaker 2: It's seven brothers?
- 8:00Speaker 9: I know, I know it's it's telling you a whole
- 8:02Speaker 9: story about every one of these guys.
- 8:04Speaker 1: And I said TOV today, I'm just like, what is
- 8:06Speaker 1: this process like?
- 8:07Speaker 9: Because I think I said it when we were at
- 8:08Speaker 9: the combine, like everyone knows the Beast, like it is
- 8:11Speaker 9: like kind of the pinnacle of all of this stuff
- 8:13Speaker 9: that we do with the draft. And you know a
- 8:15Speaker 9: lot of people walk around very self important at the
- 8:18Speaker 9: combine and you know, you see them doing the various
- 8:21Speaker 9: interviews and you know, and maybe it's even tough to
- 8:23Speaker 9: get certain people on for interviews.
- 8:25Speaker 1: But Dane's like, no big deal. He's kind of walking around,
- 8:27Speaker 1: unassuming kind of guy.
- 8:28Speaker 9: You'd never really realize how prolific of a writer and
- 8:33Speaker 9: analysts that this guy is. I mean, it's just and
- 8:35Speaker 9: it's I think it's like six hundred and eighty pages.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Yeah, every single year. I just I don't I don't
- 8:42Speaker 1: know how he does.
- 8:42Speaker 5: He search that there's a team of people that help
- 8:46Speaker 5: him with the the graphics and like the outline and
- 8:50Speaker 5: all that layout and all that kind of stuff.
- 8:52Speaker 6: Yeah, there's like two thousand players in it this year.
- 8:55Speaker 1: I just don't even know where to begin with.
- 8:58Speaker 9: Because we do I mean, I do project you know,
- 9:00Speaker 9: we do like sound odysseys and all that kind of
- 9:02Speaker 9: stuff that you know requires a lot of planning, But
- 9:05Speaker 9: like this is a level that I just I can't
- 9:07Speaker 9: even like I can barely fathom writing a book. Like
- 9:09Speaker 9: I was looking at there's so many books in the world.
- 9:11Speaker 9: I'm like, how did this many people write a book?
- 9:14Speaker 9: Like it just seems so difficult to me to even
- 9:15Speaker 9: like complete a whole book, and you just there are
- 9:17Speaker 9: books everywhere. It seems like everybody's written a book. But
- 9:20Speaker 9: Dame Brugler we appreciate you. And you know the timing that.
- 9:23Speaker 1: It comes out a like Eva says, all of a sudden,
- 9:25Speaker 1: it gives you this whole new resource.
- 9:27Speaker 9: And yeah, you know, I just noticed Oscar Delps, the
- 9:29Speaker 9: guy that we talked a lot about that was you know,
- 9:31Speaker 9: his third rank eye and a little higher.
- 9:32Speaker 5: And you know it's yeah, I finished with him as
- 9:34Speaker 5: my second ranked tem because I just can't do it
- 9:37Speaker 5: with Stower. So I just like I almost moved him
- 9:40Speaker 5: to wide receiver. And honestly, so I you know, I
- 9:44Speaker 5: I I think Dane was the one that that had
- 9:46Speaker 5: that in the beast that some teams are viewing Eli
- 9:48Speaker 5: Stower's as a wide receiver and actually have moved him
- 9:51Speaker 5: on their board to wide receivers. So, uh yeah, I
- 9:55Speaker 5: there's a couple of guys like that. Another one that
- 9:59Speaker 5: really stood out to me with Travis Burke to tackle
- 10:01Speaker 5: from Memphis. He had going in like the fourth round,
- 10:04Speaker 5: which was a lot higher than I thought, uh he
- 10:06Speaker 5: would go. So there's always guys like that, and you know,
- 10:09Speaker 5: it's just one person's opinion. It's not gospel, but he
- 10:11Speaker 5: talks to teams and it kind of has an idea
- 10:15Speaker 5: of where teams have him on boards too, and it's
- 10:17Speaker 5: not just like his evaluation of the player.
- 10:20Speaker 6: There's also some of that and.
- 10:21Speaker 5: There's also I think the biggest thing, and he does
- 10:23Speaker 5: a great job with this is is injuries, off field background,
- 10:29Speaker 5: like that kind of stuff where unfortunately a lot of
- 10:32Speaker 5: guys have some red flags and teams know all the
- 10:35Speaker 5: red flags, but the public doesn't. So when we find out,
- 10:38Speaker 5: you know, there's a guy that we all think is
- 10:40Speaker 5: going to go in the first round and all of
- 10:42Speaker 5: a sudden he drops to the fifth round, shad door standers,
- 10:45Speaker 5: you know, like there's maybe stuff that's bubbling under the
- 10:48Speaker 5: surface that we don't know about, and and sense of
- 10:52Speaker 5: the principal.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Yeah, he's third period biology.
- 10:56Speaker 5: No, there's some guys on there and I don't want
- 10:58Speaker 5: to like because it's some of it's dark, but like
- 11:00Speaker 5: there's some guys on there that I'm just like, oh, boy,
- 11:04Speaker 5: Like if I like this is bad, you know that
- 11:07Speaker 5: type of stuff. Yeah, you know, just arrests and things
- 11:10Speaker 5: like that, and then obviously you know the injuries. So
- 11:12Speaker 5: somebody actually ran we're co pilot, right, I ran through
- 11:16Speaker 5: co pilot and uh and put the beast into co
- 11:20Speaker 5: pilot with like keywords filtered and then was able to
- 11:25Speaker 5: put a spreadsheet together of all the guys that were
- 11:27Speaker 5: mentioned with injury concerns in the Beast and so like
- 11:31Speaker 5: for people like me, like that just really makes it
- 11:33Speaker 5: so much easier just to like grab all of those
- 11:36Speaker 5: because like we all know, you know, the Jordan Tyson
- 11:38Speaker 5: injury history or Chris Bell coming off in ACL and
- 11:42Speaker 5: things like that. But there are certain guys that I
- 11:45Speaker 5: never would have known had like as extensive of an
- 11:48Speaker 5: injury history as they do. Like Deontay lass In, the
- 11:51Speaker 5: linebacker from Alabama, has like all sorts of injuries that
- 11:54Speaker 5: Dane has him in like the seventh round, as a
- 11:56Speaker 5: guy that some people have mocked in top one hundreds,
- 11:59Speaker 5: you know, So things like that are important and context
- 12:02Speaker 5: as to why guys slide on on the weekend of
- 12:04Speaker 5: the All.
- 12:05Speaker 9: Right, well, we gave Dane Burgler some love, sirs, but
- 12:08Speaker 9: but let's talk about the Hall of Fame a little bit,
- 12:10Speaker 9: and uh, you know, we'll be here for the next
- 12:12Speaker 9: two hours, so please give us a call podcast at
- 12:14Speaker 9: Patriots dot com or what is the number one, eight
- 12:17Speaker 9: hundred and five to five five past.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Five eight five five?
- 12:23Speaker 6: Is that your hot.
- 12:25Speaker 4: There?
- 12:25Speaker 1: You go, I don't know mine?
- 12:26Speaker 2: Five five five, isn't it always?
- 12:28Speaker 7: That's the fake number?
- 12:29Speaker 9: Right?
- 12:31Speaker 1: Undred? It might work. I'm sorry, I forgot what number was.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Someone gets a call today.
- 12:34Speaker 5: Have you ever end out a fake number? I feel like,
- 12:36Speaker 5: oh yeah, I feel like girls do that all.
- 12:38Speaker 2: The time, many times, many many times.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Stand up.
- 12:42Speaker 2: I've also given out numbers of men that have wronged me.
- 12:45Speaker 9: To Oh so other men are calling men that have
- 12:48Speaker 9: wronged you. So men that would like to date you
- 12:51Speaker 9: are calling men that have wronged.
- 12:52Speaker 2: You exactly like ten years though.
- 12:56Speaker 9: So Fame Hall of Fame announced the finalists, not the
- 12:59Speaker 9: three that I voted for, but certainly at deserving three
- 13:01Speaker 9: with with Adam vin Terry, Who's going to go into
- 13:03Speaker 9: the Pro Football Hall of Fame this summer, Logan Mankins
- 13:06Speaker 9: again making the finals, and Rob Gronkowski the Big Gronk
- 13:11Speaker 9: and I, you know, I've seen a lot of debate
- 13:13Speaker 9: online of you know, some people aren't a fan of
- 13:16Speaker 9: only one person going in every year.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Will remind people the senior Committee will meet.
- 13:20Speaker 9: Next year, so some of those older players will have,
- 13:23Speaker 9: you know, a specific chance to get in, only that
- 13:26Speaker 9: only happens every few years. But you know, it's great
- 13:29Speaker 9: stuff for debate, and the Patriots right now have a
- 13:31Speaker 9: lot of great players. I mean, look, those are three
- 13:35Speaker 9: Hall of Fame. I mean, I'm sure Gronk's going to
- 13:37Speaker 9: get in there someday. Mankins should probably be in that conversation.
- 13:41Speaker 1: You know.
- 13:42Speaker 9: One of the things said about Mankins in the room
- 13:44Speaker 9: when we were discussing this, you know, saying, this is
- 13:46Speaker 9: one of the best offensive linemen I've ever seen play.
- 13:49Speaker 9: Really hard to measure that kind of thing. But I
- 13:51Speaker 9: think we're hanging right right. It doesn't take much to
- 13:56Speaker 9: appreciate a guy who can play on a tour a
- 13:58Speaker 9: cl slide out to left tackle, you know, no problem.
- 14:01Speaker 1: But at the same time, it's just Gronk is hanging.
- 14:03Speaker 9: Over this, I feel like because he is a generational
- 14:06Speaker 9: player that is beloved by the fans, and when you
- 14:08Speaker 9: have a system like this that puts the power in
- 14:10Speaker 9: the fans' hands, there's a good chance, especially with the
- 14:14Speaker 9: fact that Gronk played later and Adam Vinenti did a
- 14:17Speaker 9: lot of his best work here twenty years ago, twenty
- 14:19Speaker 9: plus years ago.
- 14:21Speaker 1: I think a lot of people believe it's gonna be Gronk.
- 14:23Speaker 10: You can't you can't put Edelman in first ballot and
- 14:26Speaker 10: then not put Gronk in and that like it should.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Have gone together.
- 14:29Speaker 10: Yeah, right too, But it's just like it just it
- 14:31Speaker 10: sucks because like you have mccorthy coming up, you have
- 14:34Speaker 10: Slater coming up high Tower, like all these great players
- 14:37Speaker 10: which our generation like Alex and I and Evan. It's
- 14:41Speaker 10: like these are the guys that you know were the
- 14:44Speaker 10: second Dynasty. Not as many people know Vinitari anymore. All
- 14:47Speaker 10: these people are just gonna keep getting pushed back. So
- 14:50Speaker 10: I think that's.
- 14:50Speaker 5: What I said yesterday was I identify with the twenty
- 14:56Speaker 5: tens Patriots a lot more than the two thousands Patriots.
- 14:59Speaker 2: We're still little.
- 15:00Speaker 6: I was nine when they won the.
- 15:01Speaker 5: Super Bowl in two thousand and one, so like I
- 15:04Speaker 5: remember watching I was there, I remember like watching it.
- 15:07Speaker 2: I remember you remember like the big skill player, but yeah,
- 15:10Speaker 2: and I like.
- 15:10Speaker 5: I remember the teams, but I didn't know football back then.
- 15:13Speaker 5: I was nine years old. Like once I got into
- 15:16Speaker 5: the twenty tens that I was in high school in college,
- 15:18Speaker 5: like I that was my fandom had formed like I
- 15:21Speaker 5: and my football knowledge was starting to form too, So
- 15:24Speaker 5: I just appreciated those players a lot more so you
- 15:27Speaker 5: know for people our age, you know, i'd say under
- 15:30Speaker 5: forty really like high Tower, Gronkowski, Edelman, mccordy, like those
- 15:36Speaker 5: guys are are chewings for people like us. And you know,
- 15:39Speaker 5: I think it's it's harder for the older generation because.
- 15:42Speaker 10: Of that when look at the people voting, it's online,
- 15:45Speaker 10: So then the younger generation is gonna see that.
- 15:47Speaker 7: Never get James White too, like Randy Moss.
- 15:50Speaker 6: They like Kevin Fulkin.
- 15:51Speaker 10: Yeah, White like Yeah, I don't know, It's just I
- 15:55Speaker 10: think somebody needs to be fixed.
- 15:56Speaker 2: It's going to be a backup for a long time.
- 15:58Speaker 10: Yeah, and then you're just playing, all right, we're gonna
- 15:59Speaker 10: put in as a contributor or whatever, like is that
- 16:02Speaker 10: the same thing.
- 16:03Speaker 7: I don't know, it gets Murky.
- 16:05Speaker 1: I just tell you first. With Vene Teria, I think
- 16:07Speaker 1: things stood out to me.
- 16:08Speaker 9: I've been doing working a little bit on the ninety
- 16:10Speaker 9: six season and watching those games back, and it's amazing
- 16:14Speaker 9: how close he was to getting cut.
- 16:15Speaker 1: About three games into that ninety six season.
- 16:17Speaker 9: He missed a bunch of kicks, at one point getting
- 16:20Speaker 9: lining up for a field goal, and Jerry Glanville the
- 16:23Speaker 9: color analysis, if he misses this kick, you might have
- 16:25Speaker 9: to go get a new kicker. And I'm not sure
- 16:28Speaker 9: there's another player or position that you can say was
- 16:33Speaker 9: literally hanging by a thread like Gronk was never hanging
- 16:36Speaker 9: by a thread, you know, like.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Edlman. Yeah, that's that's that's that's a really good one.
- 16:42Speaker 1: You know.
- 16:42Speaker 9: Maybe because of injuries a little bit and kickers such
- 16:44Speaker 9: a specific position. I think everyone can agree that kind
- 16:47Speaker 9: of hurts Adam's chances a little bit just in terms
- 16:49Speaker 9: of the player, like ball guys, but Gronk's just such
- 16:52Speaker 9: a powerhouse. It's so hard to Yes, Adam Vinit Terry
- 16:56Speaker 9: is a Pro Football Hall of Famer. But Rob Gronkowski
- 16:58Speaker 9: from the moment he arrived in New England, he completely
- 17:02Speaker 9: reinvigorated this whole franchise from the second he walked on
- 17:05Speaker 9: the stage and put the stupid helmet onto the draft
- 17:07Speaker 9: and started head back.
- 17:08Speaker 6: And he's the greatest tit end of all time.
- 17:10Speaker 12: And it's like not even it's like objective, you know,
- 17:12Speaker 12: like it's not an objective, but it is.
- 17:16Speaker 5: Have a different argument there, but like in terms of
- 17:19Speaker 5: you know, the actual tight end position and not just
- 17:21Speaker 5: catching passes, he's the greatest tight end of all time.
- 17:24Speaker 10: So going through all the injuries too, Like ye, if
- 17:27Speaker 10: he stayed healthy at all.
- 17:29Speaker 2: He's just larger. Exactly, he's larger than.
- 17:31Speaker 5: Because it's the greatest kicker of all time, and it's
- 17:33Speaker 5: the greatest tight end of all time. And deduce his
- 17:35Speaker 5: point like most people probably gravitate more towards the position
- 17:39Speaker 5: player than a kicker.
- 17:40Speaker 12: But at the same time, the specialists literally took this
- 17:43Speaker 12: whole franchise and put it on track to have what
- 17:47Speaker 12: happened happened when two thousand and one.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Those I mean those kicks that he made in the snow.
- 17:52Speaker 6: Snowball kicks the greatest kick in NFL history.
- 17:55Speaker 9: I love Paul's stories about being on the field at
- 17:58Speaker 9: the other end of the stadium and it was snowing
- 17:59Speaker 9: so hard you couldn't even tell if you couldn't even
- 18:02Speaker 9: see if the ball went through the uprights.
- 18:03Speaker 1: You had to base it on the crowd.
- 18:06Speaker 9: And it's the same thing with Mankins, though even with
- 18:08Speaker 9: Vinni Terry, you can point to specific Super Bowl you know,
- 18:12Speaker 9: impactful kicks, whether it was in the closing seconds of
- 18:15Speaker 9: a Super Bowl, whether it was in a playoff game
- 18:17Speaker 9: to get to that super Bowl. And with Mankins in
- 18:20Speaker 9: an offensive line. Yeah, you know, I think he's one
- 18:22Speaker 9: that like you kind of see it, you can tell,
- 18:24Speaker 9: but there's not like, well that block he had, you know,
- 18:26Speaker 9: You're more like this is the body of the work.
- 18:29Speaker 9: And I mean, unfortunately, I think this is just part
- 18:31Speaker 9: of what football is. And the guys who get to
- 18:34Speaker 9: catch the touchdowns and make the big plays are the
- 18:36Speaker 9: ones who get all the glory.
- 18:37Speaker 1: And that's why I hate it playing offensive line. I'm
- 18:39Speaker 1: just fighting with a guy the whole time. I want
- 18:41Speaker 1: touch the football.
- 18:41Speaker 10: I'm pretty sure Brady mentioned that in his Hall of
- 18:43Speaker 10: Fame speech, like he gave a special shout out to
- 18:46Speaker 10: the lineman who did all.
- 18:47Speaker 2: I feel like I remember him literally naming every single.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Yeah worked with. Yeah.
- 18:52Speaker 10: We also even mentioned Welker too, as Welker David Andrews
- 18:56Speaker 10: is going to come up to that's another lineman who's
- 18:58Speaker 10: going to get stuck in purgatories.
- 19:00Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 19:01Speaker 9: Let's just say to all the Patriots alumni out there,
- 19:04Speaker 9: there's a lot of good players.
- 19:05Speaker 7: Just we love you all of you.
- 19:07Speaker 2: You know what. The Fred's impassioned endorsement.
- 19:13Speaker 1: The vote really.
- 19:15Speaker 12: Made an impact though, because I just like I read
- 19:17Speaker 12: through the comments of some of the team accounts stuff
- 19:19Speaker 12: sometimes And when we announced the three selections this year,
- 19:23Speaker 12: a lot of them like were Gronk Gronk definitely, but
- 19:26Speaker 12: a lot of people were like, hey, Adam should go
- 19:28Speaker 12: in first.
- 19:28Speaker 2: I would like to see Adam in first. So Fred's
- 19:31Speaker 2: uh spreading that spread.
- 19:34Speaker 10: I don't know everybody agrees with it, though, I feel
- 19:36Speaker 10: like Eagles play into it too, you know, like, do
- 19:38Speaker 10: you think Gronk genuinely be heard if you didn't get
- 19:40Speaker 10: a first ballot? Like submit, Like, I don't know, I
- 19:43Speaker 10: can't speak for him, but there's some players that are.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Like, that's Gronk going to be a first ballot.
- 19:49Speaker 13: Should be anymore with the profile, I mean, like they
- 19:54Speaker 13: like like Megatron has basically had the same career just
- 19:57Speaker 13: as a wide receiver and he was first ballot, Like
- 20:00Speaker 13: I would be pretty shocked if he wasn't in.
- 20:02Speaker 5: Megatron didn't win as much as Gronk either. The Macons
- 20:06Speaker 5: one thing, Like it does surprise me how much the
- 20:08Speaker 5: committee vouches for Macons, And I think a lot of
- 20:12Speaker 5: the people on that committee covered him, and I think
- 20:15Speaker 5: Macons was a kind of a favorite, and that is
- 20:18Speaker 5: kind of like, you know, you brought up David Andrews,
- 20:20Speaker 5: like kind of similarly, he was a hell of a player,
- 20:23Speaker 5: like really great patriot, really great player.
- 20:26Speaker 6: But to douce his point, like.
- 20:27Speaker 5: It surprises me that Welker has such a tough time
- 20:31Speaker 5: getting on the ballot as the guy with the glory,
- 20:33Speaker 5: the guy that has the stats and the production.
- 20:36Speaker 6: And all that kind of stuff, and.
- 20:39Speaker 5: Macons is they just consistently put Macons on the ballot.
- 20:44Speaker 5: And I think that that is a little bit because
- 20:47Speaker 5: they both didn't win, Like they both were in the
- 20:50Speaker 5: the you know, sandwich and yeah, the doughnut in between
- 20:53Speaker 5: super Bowls, so it's not Super Bowls. I think it's
- 20:57Speaker 5: that Macons was nicer to people than Wes Welker and
- 21:00Speaker 5: Welker I didn't cover, but I've heard that Wes Welker
- 21:03Speaker 5: was kind of a prickly prickly Yeah, I mean Edelmand
- 21:06Speaker 5: was prickly.
- 21:07Speaker 6: I covered that.
- 21:07Speaker 7: That's what happensting hammered across the middle.
- 21:10Speaker 6: I mean like, like, I don't think like he might
- 21:13Speaker 6: like Edelman was kind of a jerk.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah, he'd probably admitted to you.
- 21:18Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, no, there's no doubt about it. He's one
- 21:20Speaker 5: of my favorite guys, but he was kind of a jerk.
- 21:23Speaker 5: Uh So, I don't know. I'm a little surprised at
- 21:26Speaker 5: how much of a push the is to try to
- 21:28Speaker 5: get Macons on the ballot every year. It's a little
- 21:30Speaker 5: like how Parcels was consistently on the ballot every year.
- 21:34Speaker 5: And it's some of that to me kind of feels
- 21:35Speaker 5: like a personal preference.
- 21:38Speaker 9: I mean both, I mean you kind of drew the
- 21:40Speaker 9: parallel between Mankins and Welker, kind of both in the
- 21:42Speaker 9: same time frame. I mean, Jenkins here a little bit sooner,
- 21:45Speaker 9: but all contributed to very good teams that couldn't quite
- 21:48Speaker 9: close the deal. Is it only held against Welker because
- 21:51Speaker 9: he didn't connect on one pass in.
- 21:52Speaker 1: The Super Bowl? You know?
- 21:53Speaker 9: Or is it easy just to say Mankins was awesome
- 21:56Speaker 9: and you know, and you're not.
- 21:57Speaker 5: Like Megan's unless he gave up like a strip sack
- 22:00Speaker 5: or something like that, you're not gonna you don't have
- 22:01Speaker 5: a moment that you can say like this is when
- 22:04Speaker 5: he didn't come through, because the guard to have that moment.
- 22:08Speaker 12: I think Welker also kind of suffers in the argument
- 22:11Speaker 12: just because of the career. Edelman went on to have
- 22:13Speaker 12: right after him, and was it was like kind of
- 22:15Speaker 12: like copy paste Welker and he had the Super Bowl moments.
- 22:18Speaker 9: And having been in the room when these guys were discussed,
- 22:20Speaker 9: I was a little surprised that some people waited Edelman's
- 22:25Speaker 9: playoff performance more than Welker's overall body of work, which
- 22:29Speaker 9: Welker's overall body of work.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Exceeds, you know, what el Edelman did.
- 22:33Speaker 9: And it's just I hate having to put those two
- 22:35Speaker 9: players up against each other because I both had so
- 22:37Speaker 9: much fun watching those two.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Guys play, and they had unique styles.
- 22:41Speaker 9: They weren't they weren't the same guys, and that's why
- 22:44Speaker 9: I think you can appreciate both of them for what
- 22:46Speaker 9: differentiated them, and that you know, Welker was smaller, I
- 22:50Speaker 9: mean just you know, but his inside quickness, I mean,
- 22:53Speaker 9: just his ability to drop on that little whip route,
- 22:56Speaker 9: I mean that thing. I mean, he's he's an expert
- 22:58Speaker 9: at it. But Edelman just had that that toughness, that
- 23:01Speaker 9: all around kind of you know, especially when the game
- 23:03Speaker 9: was on the line and you know.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Haven't it It's it's such a hard exercise to pile
- 23:08Speaker 1: these things up.
- 23:08Speaker 9: It's a little easier when it's the same position, and
- 23:10Speaker 9: you can look at production and you know, but I
- 23:13Speaker 9: find myself a lot over these last couple of weeks
- 23:15Speaker 9: just going back to like what is it. What is
- 23:17Speaker 9: a team Hall of Fame supposed to be? Like what
- 23:18Speaker 9: is it supposed to mean? Like you know, I and
- 23:20Speaker 9: I said it on the show.
- 23:23Speaker 5: And that's why Edelman was the first ballot, Like because
- 23:27Speaker 5: he he you identify him as as a Patriot more
- 23:32Speaker 5: than Wes Welker, Like he identifies himself more at the Patriot,
- 23:36Speaker 5: Like he's Foxborough.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Forever, he's you know that marketing.
- 23:41Speaker 6: Yeah, like you know.
- 23:43Speaker 5: Underdog, you know, scrapped his way onto the team on
- 23:46Speaker 5: into a role played here for his entire career, was
- 23:50Speaker 5: a one team guy super Bowl super Bowl MVP like that.
- 23:55Speaker 5: We just like Edelman better, Like we can just say it,
- 23:58Speaker 5: like he just liked the guy better.
- 24:00Speaker 2: And then the hell out of himself.
- 24:01Speaker 9: Yeah, he did well, Like I said, I mean with
- 24:04Speaker 9: Gronk going on, Brady went on, Gronk went on, Welker
- 24:07Speaker 9: went to Denver, which I was like, you know, the
- 24:09Speaker 9: time made me the.
- 24:11Speaker 12: Guy that's like no one team.
- 24:14Speaker 5: And that's a difference to me between a team Hall
- 24:17Speaker 5: of fame in the actual football Hall of Fame is
- 24:20Speaker 5: the Edelman Foxborough for everything should matter. For the Patriots
- 24:24Speaker 5: Hall of Fame, that's not going to matter, and can
- 24:27Speaker 5: like that's not how they.
- 24:29Speaker 12: With like David Andrews too, like undrafted guy came out
- 24:32Speaker 12: of the mud too, and then entire career Patriot and
- 24:36Speaker 12: just a perfect one.
- 24:37Speaker 9: It's interesting that Mankins and Gronk are not Mankins sorry
- 24:39Speaker 9: vinetarian and and Gronk both went on to win Super
- 24:42Speaker 9: Bowls with other franchises elsewhere.
- 24:45Speaker 1: I don't think that really gets held against them anymore.
- 24:47Speaker 9: But do you guys think that I don't, like, do
- 24:49Speaker 9: you think that will affect Gronk's voting at all?
- 24:51Speaker 6: I mean.
- 24:53Speaker 7: Especially because like there's different.
- 24:54Speaker 2: You can see why Gronk did it.
- 24:56Speaker 12: He did it for one year with Tom if they want,
- 24:59Speaker 12: you know, and he was like all right peace.
- 25:01Speaker 10: Welker was a little bit different. He goes to Denver
- 25:03Speaker 10: with Peyton Manning. So I don't know, it was more
- 25:06Speaker 10: it feels like there was more animosity in Welker's decision.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, well I mean there was.
- 25:11Speaker 5: I mean I mean him and Bill had, Yeah, they
- 25:13Speaker 5: had fallen out at that point.
- 25:15Speaker 10: Yeah, No, I think that plays a role compared to
- 25:17Speaker 10: to Gronk, who was like, I'll come back because Thom's
- 25:19Speaker 10: my boy.
- 25:20Speaker 5: Yeah, because they they paid Danny a mondola like similar
- 25:25Speaker 5: money than what Welker had gotten. It that that was
- 25:28Speaker 5: a relationship bet him and Belichick that got spicy at
- 25:32Speaker 5: the end and kind of was spicy the whole time,
- 25:34Speaker 5: like the Rex Ryan Feet thing and like it was
- 25:37Speaker 5: it was never like you know, the Wally Pit Like
- 25:41Speaker 5: I don't think there was ever really a love fest
- 25:44Speaker 5: going on between those two.
- 25:46Speaker 12: I mean, if Bill is going up to West and
- 25:47Speaker 12: talking about way to compete, yeah, it's like and some
- 25:52Speaker 12: of that stuff went right over Welker's head, Like did
- 25:54Speaker 12: he even realize Bill.
- 25:55Speaker 9: Was being Yeah, I mean I think like really, I mean,
- 26:00Speaker 9: I guess it's like when he tore his acl and
- 26:01Speaker 9: nine at the end of that season. That kind of
- 26:04Speaker 9: felt like the end of the first chapter with Welker,
- 26:06Speaker 9: which you know, two thousand and seven, I mean came
- 26:08Speaker 9: in here and was just prolific.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Two thousand and eight, even with Castle was prolific.
- 26:13Speaker 9: You know, nine continues to you know, perform an incredible rate,
- 26:16Speaker 9: and then not that he had anything to do with
- 26:19Speaker 9: tearing his ACL.
- 26:20Speaker 1: But I mean he tears his ACL.
- 26:22Speaker 9: One of the worst losses non Super Bowl losses of
- 26:24Speaker 9: the dynasty are in twenty ten against the Jets. Then
- 26:28Speaker 9: in twenty ten he comes back. He still has another
- 26:30Speaker 9: really good performance coming off in ACL. We know how
- 26:32Speaker 9: hard that is to do. But then he gets benched
- 26:35Speaker 9: at the beginning, and then the miscatch and the Super Bowl,
- 26:37Speaker 9: and it's weird how those things, you know, fall apart
- 26:40Speaker 9: a little bit, and there were certainly some disappointing finishes
- 26:43Speaker 9: mixed in there. But I don't know, I just I
- 26:45Speaker 9: would love to see Wes Welker get in there eventually.
- 26:48Speaker 9: And you know, Paul does a great job of presenting
- 26:50Speaker 9: his case. It's just he's like the leading receiver. I mean,
- 26:52Speaker 9: he was just the numbers don't lie.
- 26:54Speaker 1: And as I said in the.
- 26:56Speaker 9: Room, I was a little surprised that just people didn't
- 26:58Speaker 9: seem all that impressed with what well Bucker did.
- 27:01Speaker 1: But I don't know, we'll see, you gotta wait till
- 27:04Speaker 1: next year. We'll see if we can get him in.
- 27:06Speaker 10: So well, here here's that thing with the Hall of Fame. Though, yeah, say,
- 27:09Speaker 10: say they changed the rule, does it?
- 27:11Speaker 7: Does it? Become like disrespectful at a point, like.
- 27:14Speaker 1: What you're just letting like guys hit it.
- 27:16Speaker 10: Like here, here's Gronk and d mac in two years up,
- 27:18Speaker 10: we'll put we'll put mankins into Like do you think
- 27:21Speaker 10: that's like disrespectful?
- 27:22Speaker 14: No?
- 27:22Speaker 9: I mean I I kind of think you got to
- 27:25Speaker 9: just continue to ride the way that they've been doing
- 27:27Speaker 9: it because all of a sudden, are you gonna do
- 27:28Speaker 9: all of a sudden like let's just get a bunch
- 27:30Speaker 9: of people and so feelings don't get hurt, Like would
- 27:32Speaker 9: you rather have your feelings hurt a little bit right now?
- 27:35Speaker 9: Like you know, Mike Rabel had his feelings maybe hurt.
- 27:37Speaker 9: I don't know Mike Rabel gets his feelings hurt by
- 27:39Speaker 9: not being.
- 27:39Speaker 1: But you know he goes a few years. You know,
- 27:42Speaker 1: he brought it up. Of course, that's what that's what
- 27:44Speaker 1: he does.
- 27:44Speaker 9: But is it worth it, though, to go through a
- 27:46Speaker 9: little of that disappointment then to be able to get
- 27:50Speaker 9: a day and have a day where the whole focus
- 27:52Speaker 9: and let the fans appreciate your career and you know
- 27:54Speaker 9: that the fans are all there to honor you.
- 27:57Speaker 1: I do think that there's some value in it.
- 27:59Speaker 9: I like the senior thing though, because I do think
- 28:00Speaker 9: that there are older players that were special to the
- 28:04Speaker 9: Patriots franchise that fans who came to know this team
- 28:08Speaker 9: when they were winning Super Bowls should know about, Like
- 28:11Speaker 9: you know, I mean, you know, Ben Coates is an example.
- 28:13Speaker 9: I think he's already in, but you know, just those
- 28:15Speaker 9: kind of guys who before there was Gronk and Brady,
- 28:18Speaker 9: there were some really good players around here. You know,
- 28:21Speaker 9: when I was just thinking Raymond Claiborne, you know, it's
- 28:23Speaker 9: just a random name that probably doesn't mean a lot
- 28:25Speaker 9: to a lot of people, but was an outstanding cornerback,
- 28:28Speaker 9: one of the best, you know, in the league. And
- 28:31Speaker 9: you know, another guy who's kind of flirted with Pro
- 28:33Speaker 9: Football Hall of Fame considerations.
- 28:35Speaker 5: I can't believe Stanley Morgan doesn't get more Pro Football
- 28:37Speaker 5: Hall of Fame. Yeah, I'm pretty sure he still has
- 28:40Speaker 5: the career record for yards per catch. Now, different era,
- 28:44Speaker 5: like they are throwing down the field. It was either
- 28:47Speaker 5: there was like fifty percent completion rate back then you're
- 28:49Speaker 5: throwing deep or you're getting picked off. Those are like
- 28:52Speaker 5: two options. But yeah, he's definitely on that. I think
- 28:56Speaker 5: that the one at a time thing to me, is
- 28:58Speaker 5: fine because let's face it, you know, they had twenty
- 29:01Speaker 5: years of dominance where there's a lot of really you know,
- 29:05Speaker 5: deserving candidates. Unfortunately, at some point that well is going
- 29:10Speaker 5: to start to run a little bit drier, and then
- 29:12Speaker 5: we can kind of come back around to some of
- 29:14Speaker 5: these guys that were flirting with it fringe you know,
- 29:18Speaker 5: Mangan's types, and they'll get in. Like right now, we're
- 29:21Speaker 5: still kind of turning out Brady, Edelman, Gronk mccordy, like
- 29:26Speaker 5: some really big names. But eventually we won't have as
- 29:30Speaker 5: much to nominate, you know, and then we'll come back around.
- 29:33Speaker 1: You just listed like seven guys, so its like.
- 29:37Speaker 7: We got some really good players.
- 29:40Speaker 5: Yeah, but then you need to wait four years for
- 29:42Speaker 5: them to retire and then then it's be eligible.
- 29:45Speaker 12: That's why they should have just left Brady in but
- 29:47Speaker 12: still met and still had to vote for someone else.
- 29:50Speaker 12: Like you're already bending the rules to let Brady in
- 29:53Speaker 12: right away. Just bend the rule and let two people
- 29:55Speaker 12: in that year. You don't have this backlog. Like, I
- 29:57Speaker 12: think it was kind of short sighted. I don't know
- 30:00Speaker 12: if anyone looked ahead to be like, hey, well, Adams
- 30:02Speaker 12: should have gone in this year. You can't just show
- 30:05Speaker 12: him in next year because in a settlement, you know,
- 30:06Speaker 12: it kind of created this backlog and now we're just
- 30:09Speaker 12: in this predicament now everybody.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Everybody's aware of it right now, of the backup.
- 30:14Speaker 9: But if i'd be curious, just your your kind of
- 30:16Speaker 9: case for Devin mccordy, because I think he's a guy
- 30:19Speaker 9: that we talk about like guards.
- 30:21Speaker 1: You don't have a really point two stats.
- 30:22Speaker 9: You know, you can't really point to mccordy's stats per
- 30:25Speaker 9: se or you know, interceptions.
- 30:26Speaker 1: I mean, but he was a glue guy on the back,
- 30:29Speaker 1: basically making the whole thing.
- 30:30Speaker 10: I would say he's the definition of Patriots Hall Fame. Look,
- 30:33Speaker 10: I can think it's similar to Edelman, but on the
- 30:34Speaker 10: defensive side. And also mccordy stayed with us for the
- 30:37Speaker 10: dark years as well.
- 30:38Speaker 12: Yeah, yeah, Slater too, God bless.
- 30:46Speaker 6: Yeah. When he retired was that after twenty two I
- 30:50Speaker 6: think he knew that three.
- 30:53Speaker 5: I remember he said like I knew we weren't going
- 30:55Speaker 5: to be good, Like he could feel it and he
- 30:57Speaker 5: could sense it and see what was happening around him.
- 30:59Speaker 6: I would say, you know, in terms of the football.
- 31:03Speaker 5: He had fantastic range, you know as a deep safety,
- 31:06Speaker 5: like he could go sideline to sideline, run anything down.
- 31:09Speaker 5: Both McCarty's can really run. Yeah, both those guys have
- 31:12Speaker 5: got real wheels. I remember, you know, talking to guys
- 31:16Speaker 5: like who's the fastest guy on the team, things like that,
- 31:18Speaker 5: and they would all, you know, we got to like
- 31:21Speaker 5: the McCarty's got to be in that conversation, you know,
- 31:23Speaker 5: So those guys could really run.
- 31:25Speaker 6: He could really play the deep part of the field.
- 31:27Speaker 5: You know, they played a lot of post single high
- 31:28Speaker 5: safety back then, man coverage underneath, and he was consistently
- 31:33Speaker 5: the guy over the top that was helping everybody out.
- 31:36Speaker 5: So they had you know, principals rules, divider leverages where
- 31:39Speaker 5: they splitting up you know, inside outside leverage, and you're
- 31:42Speaker 5: funneling guys to where your help is with body positioning,
- 31:46Speaker 5: and nine times out of ten the help was Devin McCarty,
- 31:49Speaker 5: and it was sort of his job to take away
- 31:51Speaker 5: certain routes so that the corners had an easier job
- 31:54Speaker 5: of going about it. Obviously, essentially ran the defense, you know, eventually,
- 31:59Speaker 5: and Bill Jack talked about it when he retired, gave
- 32:02Speaker 5: a great speech about his his meeting with him before
- 32:06Speaker 5: the draft at Rutgers where he could break down the
- 32:10Speaker 5: entire Rutgers defense from front to back and he just
- 32:13Speaker 5: knew everything about the Rutgers defense. So he was a
- 32:17Speaker 5: defensive coordinator on the field, you know that. That's a
- 32:19Speaker 5: big part of it too. And then obviously just a
- 32:21Speaker 5: great person and you know character. But in terms of
- 32:24Speaker 5: the football, hard to find a smarter, you know, more instinctive,
- 32:29Speaker 5: more you know, high IQ kind of player than that.
- 32:33Speaker 5: I mean, he was truly a quarterback of the defense.
- 32:36Speaker 1: It's just another guy though. It's like intangibles.
- 32:38Speaker 9: Julini warrantsy intangibles with Mankins, any offensive lineman, maybe even
- 32:42Speaker 9: some defensive lineman. I was thinking though a little bit
- 32:44Speaker 9: about Hunter Henry, like, might Hunter Henry be kind of
- 32:47Speaker 9: the dividing line guy when we'll finally, you know, get
- 32:50Speaker 9: away from dynasty era Super Bowl winning players.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Could Hunter Henry be the first?
- 32:55Speaker 9: And I know he played for Bill for a few years,
- 32:57Speaker 9: but for the most part, I mean, here's what is
- 32:59Speaker 9: the second.
- 33:00Speaker 10: I would second, I'd say he gets in too. He
- 33:02Speaker 10: was also through the rough period as well, had this season.
- 33:05Speaker 10: He's always open, reliable, like out of I think he'd
- 33:09Speaker 10: get it as well.
- 33:10Speaker 5: His stats are a lot better than I expected. We
- 33:12Speaker 5: actually talked about that on Catch twenty two a couple
- 33:14Speaker 5: of weeks ago, and Bart pulled it up and he's like,
- 33:16Speaker 5: it's like Grand Coats three, you know, and like you
- 33:20Speaker 5: know now he's I think this is what you're six
- 33:22Speaker 5: for him with the Patriots, which is hard to believe.
- 33:25Speaker 9: It's like him and when I guess when it was
- 33:27Speaker 9: here twenty twenty, right, wonder one class like John Smith yep.
- 33:33Speaker 5: And they he's he's gonna end up like he's going
- 33:37Speaker 5: to be a Patriot like he was a Charger obviously
- 33:40Speaker 5: drafted by the Chargers. He's gonna have spent way more
- 33:42Speaker 5: time here yep than he did with the Chargers, and him.
- 33:45Speaker 2: And Parker have made a life here too.
- 33:46Speaker 12: He's like one of those guys like David Andrews, where
- 33:48Speaker 12: like they're here I think full time now.
- 33:51Speaker 10: I feel like an interesting one would be like Gilmore
- 33:53Speaker 10: because like Defensive Player of the Year, but like he's
- 33:55Speaker 10: here two and a half years, three years, got the
- 33:58Speaker 10: Super Bowl, but like that's those are the in seeing
- 34:00Speaker 10: guys to me that weren't here that long but made
- 34:02Speaker 10: a small name with them.
- 34:03Speaker 9: I mean, that's just the the most simple dividing line
- 34:07Speaker 9: of these candidates is a guy who was here for
- 34:10Speaker 9: a good time, not a long time or for a
- 34:13Speaker 9: long time, for a solid amount of time, you know
- 34:15Speaker 9: what I mean, like a solid performance, solid contribute contributions,
- 34:18Speaker 9: but you know, not like Gilmour who won you know,
- 34:21Speaker 9: hardware that clearly shows he was one of the best,
- 34:24Speaker 9: you know defenders in the NFL, probably the best defender.
- 34:26Speaker 1: And that year was crazy troll the Jets and they
- 34:33Speaker 1: let me not get too crazy.
- 34:34Speaker 6: Gilmore started out rough here, remember the first.
- 34:38Speaker 7: That Panthers game was starring and they.
- 34:40Speaker 5: Like they were playing all the zone and like putting
- 34:43Speaker 5: them in all these bad spots and stuff like that,
- 34:45Speaker 5: and everybody was like, what are we doing? You got
- 34:47Speaker 5: you know what, you paid them all all this money,
- 34:51Speaker 5: you know, Dallas Thomas two point zero, Like here we go.
- 34:53Speaker 6: And then they started playing a lot more.
- 34:55Speaker 8: Man.
- 34:55Speaker 5: He makes the play in the AFC Championship game against
- 34:57Speaker 5: the Jaguars to end the game, and that I was
- 35:00Speaker 5: kind of the rest is sort of history with him.
- 35:02Speaker 5: He just sort of took off from there and in
- 35:04Speaker 5: the Super Bowl that year, it was it was all
- 35:07Speaker 5: Sean Jeffrey right, that was killing him. And then they
- 35:09Speaker 5: finally moved Gilmour onto all seon. Jeffrey never heard of
- 35:12Speaker 5: his name called again. And then eighteen they won the
- 35:15Speaker 5: Super Bowl. You know, he has to pick, you know,
- 35:17Speaker 5: the Super Bowl Defensive Player of the Year in nineteen.
- 35:20Speaker 7: It's almost like that becomes a journeyman.
- 35:23Speaker 9: We got like three years straight of iconic plays, iconic
- 35:27Speaker 9: moments to get them to championship games, to win championship games.
- 35:32Speaker 1: But not a long time, not a long time.
- 35:33Speaker 5: Yeah, the pick in the Super Bowl is probably one
- 35:36Speaker 5: of the easiest picks of his career. But I remember
- 35:38Speaker 5: he had like a picture of it in his locker
- 35:40Speaker 5: like all of twenty nineteen, and I was like, you
- 35:44Speaker 5: have that one framed and he was like, oh yeah, as.
- 35:46Speaker 2: A retirement video too, Like that was the premiere play.
- 35:49Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I.
- 35:50Speaker 9: Mean I get it, just like Jmax should probably be
- 35:54Speaker 9: and then that Super Bowl too. Come across on on
- 35:56Speaker 9: Brandon Cooks, but any other current Patriots.
- 35:59Speaker 1: I mean, let's not get a of ourselves with Drake
- 36:00Speaker 1: may But I mean, I.
- 36:04Speaker 9: Mean it's great to say like in theory, you know,
- 36:07Speaker 9: but like if it if Gonzo, let's say they traded
- 36:09Speaker 9: him tomorrow, you know, not probably not, you know, like
- 36:13Speaker 9: there's some potential there.
- 36:15Speaker 5: Gonzo is a good one if he stays here, you know,
- 36:18Speaker 5: and obviously Drake may is another one. Hunter Henry is
- 36:21Speaker 5: a lot closer than I didn't. I don't really think
- 36:24Speaker 5: of Hunter Henry as like a Hall of Fame type
- 36:26Speaker 5: of player. And then he obviously played at a time
- 36:28Speaker 5: where they didn't win a whole lot until recently, so
- 36:31Speaker 5: like and if they have another super Bowl caliber season
- 36:35Speaker 5: next year that he's a part of, then maybe you're
- 36:38Speaker 5: you start to change your mind a little bit. But
- 36:40Speaker 5: he was in some here for some dark years, like
- 36:42Speaker 5: you know, some down not good years for the team,
- 36:46Speaker 5: So it's kind of hard to think about.
- 36:48Speaker 1: It'll be a good game.
- 36:49Speaker 9: This is a little bit off topic, but we're just
- 36:50Speaker 9: talking about like this, the down years. I I can't
- 36:55Speaker 9: really separate five long year twenty twenty three like the
- 36:58Speaker 9: twenty Like if we did a game, where did this
- 37:00Speaker 9: happen in twenty or twenty twenty three?
- 37:03Speaker 1: Really did the last two bill years?
- 37:04Speaker 2: Like I think I was because twenty two that Patricia
- 37:07Speaker 2: you had a bill.
- 37:09Speaker 10: Right, because twenty one they were good and then you
- 37:12Speaker 10: get the schedule and you get all the primetime games,
- 37:14Speaker 10: and there were so many close games, like the Bengals
- 37:17Speaker 10: the Dolphins opener, and then you get the next season.
- 37:20Speaker 10: You're like, Okay, we're gonna build off this, and they
- 37:22Speaker 10: just didn't see.
- 37:23Speaker 5: Like twenty two I feel differently about than twenty three
- 37:27Speaker 5: and twenty four because twenty two, like they were in
- 37:30Speaker 5: it and told me like if they had beaten Buffalo
- 37:33Speaker 5: and Buffalo in the last week of the season, they
- 37:34Speaker 5: were going to make the playoffs.
- 37:35Speaker 12: I don't know if I remember this correctly two, but
- 37:37Speaker 12: twenty two I think was the same thing.
- 37:38Speaker 2: A lot of close games.
- 37:40Speaker 10: There was the week one wasn't the Dolphins hairs fumbled
- 37:43Speaker 10: on one, and then you had the Bengals the.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Same thing, and then you had twenty two.
- 37:47Speaker 7: Is the Raiders Raiders.
- 37:49Speaker 6: Game Minnesota Thanksgiving?
- 37:50Speaker 5: Yeah it Hunter Henry did score a touchdown.
- 37:54Speaker 2: On you, Like, twenty two didn't feel.
- 37:55Speaker 1: That bad thing.
- 37:56Speaker 9: If you asked me right now the Raiders throwback game
- 37:58Speaker 9: before I looked at it, was that year? Was that
- 38:01Speaker 9: two or twenty three? I would have I would probably
- 38:03Speaker 9: I would probably say twenty.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Four and thirty. I know, I know, I know I know.
- 38:10Speaker 10: Another another weird team was the twenty twenty year because
- 38:14Speaker 10: that was wait, wait, was a couple a couple of
- 38:17Speaker 10: plays away from.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Sneaking in the you know what do you Cam Newton.
- 38:21Speaker 6: Fumble as soon as as soon as Cam got COVID.
- 38:25Speaker 6: Oh yeah, like it was downhill from.
- 38:27Speaker 7: There, also throwing bird.
- 38:30Speaker 6: They peaked in Seattle, like I I.
- 38:33Speaker 7: Which they lost a combination.
- 38:35Speaker 5: Of Cam getting COVID and then I stand by if
- 38:40Speaker 5: Cam had scored at the one yard line in Seattle,
- 38:42Speaker 5: I think that changes that season too. Yeah, they would
- 38:44Speaker 5: have been I don't know if they would have been
- 38:46Speaker 5: to and O. They might have been one and one.
- 38:48Speaker 5: But they like that was I mean, he had like
- 38:50Speaker 5: four hundred yards of offense, like running and throwing, like
- 38:53Speaker 5: he looked like the old Cam Newton and he was
- 38:55Speaker 5: like just slinging it to Edelman. Edelman had a huge
- 38:57Speaker 5: game all over the place.
- 39:01Speaker 7: I think he said he's like that was it. I
- 39:04Speaker 7: was done.
- 39:05Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, I'm trying to think what else with that
- 39:07Speaker 10: s Oh that season against the forty nine ers, that
- 39:09Speaker 10: was the first like Pats game. I remember being like
- 39:11Speaker 10: this is disgusting, Like I can't watch the.
- 39:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean Cam started throwing lead balloons at some
- 39:17Speaker 5: point like that that was not going anywhere.
- 39:19Speaker 1: That was I just that was one.
- 39:21Speaker 9: I love watching the different quarterbacks, like I mean, my
- 39:24Speaker 9: time here got Tom Brady the first year, which was
- 39:27Speaker 9: obviously cool, and I had seen Brady in training camp before,
- 39:31Speaker 9: but then like watching Cam Newton and Jared stid him
- 39:33Speaker 9: in twenty twenty, watching Mac Jones and Cam Newton and
- 39:36Speaker 9: Jared did him in twenty twenty one, seas you.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Know, Bailey Zappy coming in.
- 39:40Speaker 9: It's just it's really interesting to watch rookie quarterbacks, new
- 39:44Speaker 9: quarterbacks come in try to figure it out as a quarterback.
- 39:47Speaker 9: I mean, my thing with Cam was that he was
- 39:49Speaker 9: just always late and then he tried to throw it
- 39:51Speaker 9: extra hard to make up for being late to it,
- 39:54Speaker 9: you know.
- 39:54Speaker 6: Ember late like to press.
- 39:57Speaker 1: There was that.
- 39:58Speaker 9: There was that too, you know, we'd remember we were
- 40:01Speaker 9: sitting on Zoom, Like I remember sitting at home and
- 40:03Speaker 9: I'm like, you know, it's like five thirty and I'm like,
- 40:06Speaker 9: dinner's gonna start.
- 40:07Speaker 7: And then Mic to go, like, Cam, how you doing? Sensation? Immraculate.
- 40:12Speaker 1: I didn't get to see more of him, like I
- 40:14Speaker 1: thought he was really fun. It was fun. It was fun.
- 40:16Speaker 1: I say that it wasn't the COVID season, but that
- 40:19Speaker 1: whole season. I just looking back on that, what a nightmare.
- 40:22Speaker 9: I mean when you see the highlights on TV sometimes
- 40:25Speaker 9: with no fans in the stadium, like, how did we.
- 40:27Speaker 7: Do with the fake noise?
- 40:28Speaker 1: How do you get up for? You know?
- 40:29Speaker 15: There?
- 40:30Speaker 12: Life was even like during that time, it was so
- 40:32Speaker 12: miserable covering sports.
- 40:34Speaker 1: But we didn't get tested all the time.
- 40:36Speaker 9: I mean I got pulled off of Patriots on Filter
- 40:38Speaker 9: because I had like a fake false we all everyone has.
- 40:43Speaker 5: Twenty one, just twenty one because I was traveling again
- 40:46Speaker 5: twenty twenty.
- 40:47Speaker 12: The whole media corps had a fake positive and you
- 40:49Speaker 12: guys were dropping like we were in I was watching
- 40:52Speaker 12: from Afar.
- 40:53Speaker 1: I got text was like you need to leave the
- 40:54Speaker 1: building immediately, and I'm like what.
- 40:56Speaker 5: Yeah, we were in Indye the week before against the
- 41:00Speaker 5: Colts to Jonathan Taylor. Yeah, and we all came back
- 41:05Speaker 5: and it was like it was late in the season,
- 41:07Speaker 5: is like right around Christmas time and I'm driving home
- 41:10Speaker 5: from the stadium from practice one day and it's never good.
- 41:13Speaker 5: When Stacy James flashes on the caller ID, You're like, oh, God,
- 41:17Speaker 5: what did I do.
- 41:20Speaker 1: I didn't even work for the team yet, and.
- 41:22Speaker 6: I was scared.
- 41:23Speaker 5: I was freaking out, like I'm gonna pull over. My
- 41:25Speaker 5: heart's like beating out of my chest. And he's like, yeah,
- 41:27Speaker 5: like you you tested positive for COVID. And at the time,
- 41:31Speaker 5: not to like make it about me, but I that
- 41:34Speaker 5: was my my job, was my livelihood at the time,
- 41:37Speaker 5: Like if I didn't go cover games, I wasn't gonna
- 41:39Speaker 5: get paid. So I was like, Stacy, I literally can't
- 41:42Speaker 5: miss anything, like I can't miss because he was saying, like,
- 41:46Speaker 5: you can't come to a game for two weeks, and.
- 41:48Speaker 6: I was like yeah, and I was like that's not
- 41:52Speaker 6: an option for me.
- 41:54Speaker 5: And so I was freaking out and and so I
- 41:56Speaker 5: went and got tested someplace else and like to try
- 41:59Speaker 5: to prove to.
- 41:59Speaker 1: Them that you got a second opinion.
- 42:01Speaker 5: Yeah, I literally got a second good for you, yeah,
- 42:04Speaker 5: because I was fuss right, Yeah.
- 42:06Speaker 2: It was yeah, everyone is negative.
- 42:08Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 42:08Speaker 9: Well I remember after I got mine, I was driving
- 42:10Speaker 9: home and I'm like, I feel one hundred percent fine.
- 42:13Speaker 1: I'm like, this is stupid.
- 42:14Speaker 9: If this is like what COVID is now, Like, no,
- 42:16Speaker 9: you have it, but you're not showing any symptoms or anything.
- 42:19Speaker 1: But luckily it was all It was all fake.

- 43:10Speaker 16: Can you hear me now?
- 43:11Speaker 5: No?
- 43:11Speaker 1: Oh no, not yet Jesus, hold on, man, issue here
- 43:15Speaker 1: for a minute. There they just can't hear. Put you
- 43:19Speaker 1: back on second. We'll get back to you.
- 43:21Speaker 6: Things are breaking.
- 43:22Speaker 1: I think that we're good.
- 43:24Speaker 17: All right.
- 43:24Speaker 1: They gotta drop you, Sean, call back, Sean, Sorry about that.
- 43:26Speaker 1: Oh there was the sound. All right, that's what happens.
- 43:29Speaker 9: No, Fred and Paul. Everything falls. We're gonna give it
- 43:34Speaker 9: a second try with this guy who I know how
- 43:36Speaker 9: good luck?
- 43:36Speaker 1: It's Christian in l A Hey, Christian. What's going on?
- 43:39Speaker 18: Hey you guys here, you guys here, you guys, how
- 43:41Speaker 18: you doing today?
- 43:42Speaker 1: Great?
- 43:42Speaker 6: Good?
- 43:43Speaker 1: Are you all right?
- 43:44Speaker 19: Right?
- 43:44Speaker 18: So five quick points to answer all your questions. The
- 43:47Speaker 18: difference for me between Edelman and Welker is the catch.
- 43:52Speaker 18: Edelman made the catch, Welker didn't. That's that's that's my
- 43:56Speaker 18: my opinion. Between what separates me with those guys who
- 43:59Speaker 18: was the best, who goes to the halls, but Gronkowski minitary?
- 44:03Speaker 18: And I think with Mankins, which one of those three
- 44:06Speaker 18: guys when you say their name, make you, make you
- 44:08Speaker 18: smile or give you butterflies when you say their name.
- 44:11Speaker 13: That's the difference for those.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Which one gives you?
- 44:18Speaker 18: You know, I think of when I think of Gronk man,
- 44:20Speaker 18: my my basic light.
- 44:22Speaker 1: I don't know what you're in love and you don't
- 44:24Speaker 1: care who knows it?
- 44:26Speaker 9: Right?
- 44:27Speaker 18: You know, I lovely different team, but Gronk makes me smile,
- 44:30Speaker 18: you know, uh does. And and then as far as
- 44:33Speaker 18: who makes a team's hall of fame, not the actual
- 44:35Speaker 18: hall of fame, but the team's hall of fame for
- 44:37Speaker 18: me is, regardless of championships or not, which players either
- 44:41Speaker 18: created or were involved in, the most iconic moment that
- 44:44Speaker 18: typifies the team's identity. You see the saying, so that's
- 44:49Speaker 18: that's the me is who makes the team's hall of fame? Yes,
- 44:52Speaker 18: great if you want a championship, but if you were
- 44:54Speaker 18: involved in one of the moments that when people think
- 44:56Speaker 18: of the Patriots, they think of this moment and they
- 44:59Speaker 18: think of you, and that that way you belong in
- 45:01Speaker 18: that team is hall of fame. And then lastly, to
- 45:04Speaker 18: deal with the backlog of team hall of fame, I
- 45:08Speaker 18: think every ten years you do an anniversary year and
- 45:10Speaker 18: you put in multiple players.
- 45:12Speaker 1: There you go, that you have it, there you go, thanks, Christian.
- 45:16Speaker 5: So I guess maybe I'm just in the I don't
- 45:18Speaker 5: think that there's a backlog like I don't view it
- 45:21Speaker 5: that way. It's supposed to be like, yeah, like it's
- 45:23Speaker 5: supposed to be hard, Like it's a hall of fame.
- 45:24Speaker 6: Like, it's not supposed if we just started to.
- 45:27Speaker 7: Let I think, if it weren't draw.
- 45:30Speaker 5: No, I'm just saying it's supposed to be difficult to
- 45:32Speaker 5: get into a Hall of Fame.
- 45:33Speaker 6: It's not supposed to be a participation trophy.
- 45:36Speaker 5: So like if all of a sudden you start, let's say,
- 45:38Speaker 5: like they just say we're gonna let Vinetary, Gronk and
- 45:41Speaker 5: Mankins in. Well, now the next round that we go,
- 45:44Speaker 5: we're just diluting the sample, right, Like it's just gonna
- 45:47Speaker 5: get like we're just kind of taking out the competition.
- 45:51Speaker 6: I think it should be hard. I think it's it's
- 45:53Speaker 6: the Hall of Fame.
- 45:53Speaker 7: I think there's a log, but there's a bigger backlog
- 45:56Speaker 7: coming up.
- 45:58Speaker 12: I just wonder if it is there Vinitary, if it
- 46:01Speaker 12: were anyone else kind of like assumed to be in
- 46:04Speaker 12: that Brady year, if it were anyone else, would it
- 46:07Speaker 12: feel as bad that he's not.
- 46:09Speaker 2: In it yet? Yeah?
- 46:13Speaker 9: I kind of agree with Evan and just how it's
- 46:15Speaker 9: the convergence of events and like you know when Vinitari
- 46:18Speaker 9: retired and you know when he came up and was eligible,
- 46:21Speaker 9: and then Brady and.
- 46:22Speaker 7: So he's going to the Pro and not ours is low.
- 46:26Speaker 9: But like I said with Evan in that, like I'd
- 46:27Speaker 9: rather have oh my god, it's too hard to pick
- 46:30Speaker 9: this year.
- 46:30Speaker 1: Than well we got to put somebody on this year.
- 46:33Speaker 1: Who's it going to be?
- 46:34Speaker 5: You know?
- 46:34Speaker 6: And that's part of my point.
- 46:35Speaker 5: It's like if you started letting multiples in at some point,
- 46:38Speaker 5: you're diluting the talent pool. And no offense to anybody.
- 46:42Speaker 5: I'm not going to name names. I don't want to
- 46:44Speaker 5: offend anyone, but like you're going to get to a
- 46:46Speaker 5: point where you're kind of picking through between guys that
- 46:49Speaker 5: are like halla very good and not really the Hall
- 46:52Speaker 5: of Fame, and you're just like all right.
- 46:54Speaker 9: Like this sounds stupid, but let's just highlight like this
- 46:56Speaker 9: was the greatest run in sports history.
- 47:00Speaker 1: Yeah, over a twenty year period.
- 47:02Speaker 9: So yes, there are a lot of talented people, but
- 47:04Speaker 9: there's no other team that has this problem. So like,
- 47:07Speaker 9: you know, we act like it's like it's pretty unique
- 47:09Speaker 9: to the Patriots Hall of Fame that you have so
- 47:11Speaker 9: many talented guys and at least you're songing through some
- 47:14Speaker 9: of it.
- 47:15Speaker 10: But I think the first ballot thing matters too, though
- 47:17Speaker 10: a little like I think should be a first ballot
- 47:19Speaker 10: Patriots Hall of Famer. Yeah, but like I can think
- 47:22Speaker 10: that's kind of what it is. But also the iconic
- 47:24Speaker 10: moments thing, I don't know if I agree with that,
- 47:26Speaker 10: are playing Jason mccordion for the one thing or all
- 47:31Speaker 10: the kicks.
- 47:31Speaker 1: For that was pretty famous. I remember that now.
- 47:41Speaker 9: I think it helps to have some signature moments, but
- 47:43Speaker 9: it ultimately comes down to, you know, how much did
- 47:46Speaker 9: you contribute to the franchise and you know all that,
- 47:49Speaker 9: So that's the difference.
- 47:50Speaker 5: Like Welker had a better pro career than Edelman, but
- 47:52Speaker 5: he didn't contribute to the Patriots like championship, right, you know,
- 47:57Speaker 5: it didn't even just the history the story of the team,
- 48:01Speaker 5: like Edelman exemplifies all of that more than a guy
- 48:05Speaker 5: like Wes Welker.
- 48:05Speaker 9: I mean, is it wrong in team sports in Hall
- 48:07Speaker 9: of Fame consideration to hold championships over like clearly tennis,
- 48:11Speaker 9: you're gonna look at, well, this guy had X amount
- 48:13Speaker 9: of Grand Slams. It's an individual sport that matters, But
- 48:17Speaker 9: should it matter that a player was great, like Calvin Johnson.
- 48:21Speaker 1: I mean you just you look at him. That's one
- 48:23Speaker 1: of the all time greatest football players.
- 48:25Speaker 7: I think is a perfect example. Careful five hundred.
- 48:29Speaker 5: No, I don't think it should matter, but it shouldn't
- 48:34Speaker 5: matter in terms of getting into like Hall of Fames
- 48:36Speaker 5: and stuff like that as much. It does matter when
- 48:39Speaker 5: you're like comparing players though, that you can never call
- 48:41Speaker 5: Dan Marino the greatest quarterback of all time.
- 48:44Speaker 6: He didn't win, like you.
- 48:45Speaker 5: Know, in basketball, like Charles Barkley gets made fun of
- 48:47Speaker 5: constantly for the fact that he never won. So, like,
- 48:50Speaker 5: you know, those are the things like you that you
- 48:52Speaker 5: can't escape, like if you if you don't win, you
- 48:55Speaker 5: can't be considered one of the true greats of the greats.
- 48:58Speaker 9: I don't think right well, that said, do you guys
- 49:00Speaker 9: ever win a championship in your various athletic endeavors tease.
- 49:03Speaker 1: I know you were an elite soccer player.
- 49:06Speaker 10: I got a conference one maybe yeah, I got conference
- 49:09Speaker 10: conference dub.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Is that like a playoff win or is that just well,
- 49:12Speaker 1: like in college.
- 49:13Speaker 10: Like it's like you have to win your It's like
- 49:15Speaker 10: d one, you have to win your conference to then
- 49:17Speaker 10: go the Big Dance.
- 49:18Speaker 7: So I didn't win to win the Big Dance. But okay, conference.
- 49:21Speaker 9: Title Conference, Yeah, yeah, I won my last hockey game.
- 49:24Speaker 9: That was pretty cool. That was the only championship.
- 49:26Speaker 1: But I remember all the losses.
- 49:28Speaker 9: More than I probably remember the losses watching seasons end
- 49:33Speaker 9: on overtime.
- 49:34Speaker 1: Goals, like, no, I went down a rabbit hole.
- 49:39Speaker 2: Uh, your own tape.
- 49:41Speaker 1: I did well.
- 49:43Speaker 6: So I've always said.
- 49:44Speaker 12: Like Tuesday and like the greatest watch you got the
- 49:49Speaker 12: VHS plugged in.
- 49:51Speaker 1: This is an off season show fight on here, so
- 49:53Speaker 1: I don't care.
- 49:55Speaker 9: But no, my greatest hockey game was against Travis Roy
- 49:58Speaker 9: and Tabor Academy and we won the game four. And
- 50:00Speaker 9: I in my head was always like I was just
- 50:02Speaker 9: in the zone that day.
- 50:03Speaker 1: I was good, And so.
- 50:04Speaker 5: One day I was, I was like I actually played great,
- 50:09Speaker 5: and I watched it.
- 50:10Speaker 9: I was like no, I was like I just was
- 50:12Speaker 9: all over the place, and I was like, why couldn't
- 50:14Speaker 9: I just play like this all the time? But you know,
- 50:16Speaker 9: it's all like the old guy living reliving his his
- 50:18Speaker 9: sports glory and sports career.
- 50:20Speaker 1: But no, Travis Roy and I got into.
- 50:21Speaker 9: It a little bit, and I mean he was a
- 50:23Speaker 9: really scrappy, tough player, and uh, I might have punched
- 50:26Speaker 9: him in the back of the I didn't remember doing that,
- 50:28Speaker 9: but I don't know. I just it's so it was
- 50:31Speaker 9: really fun for me though, going back and looking at me.
- 50:32Speaker 9: Hockey was everything to me growing up. And then I
- 50:34Speaker 9: go back and kind of see your career again and
- 50:36Speaker 9: you know, remember an old rinks and all that kind
- 50:38Speaker 9: of stuff.
- 50:39Speaker 5: So I know there's not enough tape of me to watch.
- 50:43Speaker 5: He's sitting there on the bench waiting.
- 50:46Speaker 10: I feel like I was like right at that like air,
- 50:48Speaker 10: Like if you watch sports now, everybody has a phone
- 50:50Speaker 10: out and like.
- 50:50Speaker 2: I like everyone has a huddle now, like he didn't have.
- 50:53Speaker 9: I didn't have that, Like I should get my huddle
- 50:55Speaker 9: going noways.
- 51:00Speaker 2: Couple boys football players. I knew that I would have huddles,
- 51:02Speaker 2: but it wasn't like a.
- 51:03Speaker 7: Common thing we had like max preps. But it's also like.
- 51:06Speaker 2: And it's always wrong, like you have to submit this
- 51:08Speaker 2: stuff yourself, even.
- 51:10Speaker 1: To get photos.
- 51:11Speaker 10: My roommate's mom took the photos of the game because
- 51:13Speaker 10: like schools at the time, like they'd invested in school.
- 51:16Speaker 10: Photographer Keith Nordstrom, who shoots for the Patriots, shot with us.
- 51:20Speaker 10: Eric went to my school, which is why I was like,
- 51:21Speaker 10: you could have shot our games, but like.
- 51:23Speaker 9: Well you have like an outside photographer, then the like
- 51:25Speaker 9: sends you a proof like pay us for this.
- 51:27Speaker 10: Yeah, but now it's like kids like want to do this,
- 51:29Speaker 10: which is awesome, and so they have students shooting the game. Yeah,
- 51:34Speaker 10: now you can make an Instagram page for me to
- 51:36Speaker 10: get the school to go to our game.
- 51:38Speaker 7: I did make a Facebook page be like, hey, come
- 51:39Speaker 7: to this game. Like we just changed.
- 51:42Speaker 6: We went to.
- 51:42Speaker 5: Tournaments, yeah, you know, and like I didn't like, like,
- 51:46Speaker 5: looking back on it, I don't think it was really
- 51:48Speaker 5: the best because like if you didn't play well that
- 51:51Speaker 5: specific day, then like there goes all your chances of
- 51:54Speaker 5: like you know, getting looks from schools. But like especially
- 51:58Speaker 5: for lacrosse, but for basketball too, that they had tournaments
- 52:02Speaker 5: that like you know au style and like there'll be
- 52:05Speaker 5: like fifty teams there. So these coaches from D one
- 52:09Speaker 5: to D three level would just come and just watch,
- 52:12Speaker 5: you know, And that's how it was back in before
- 52:15Speaker 5: you know, all these technology thangs and stuff like that,
- 52:19Speaker 5: and but you know that it was hard because it
- 52:22Speaker 5: was you play like multiple games in a day and
- 52:25Speaker 5: like that might have been the only fifteen minutes that
- 52:27Speaker 5: coach had to watch you is in this one game,
- 52:30Speaker 5: and you might have been getting killed and then like
- 52:33Speaker 5: it's like you know, there goes down.
- 52:34Speaker 10: That might be coming back though, because I've seen now
- 52:37Speaker 10: kids like AI their highlights so like a quarterback will
- 52:41Speaker 10: like drop pack, like it's like they'll add like ten
- 52:45Speaker 10: yards to the throw, which is insane at like one.
- 52:48Speaker 1: Point one.
- 52:53Speaker 2: Trained. I can't tell.
- 52:55Speaker 9: I've noticed too a lot of there's a lot of
- 52:57Speaker 9: like young videographers I feel like bringing into the game,
- 52:59Speaker 9: going to various like high school sports. Definitely doing hype
- 53:03Speaker 9: films for kids and making reels and all that seems
- 53:06Speaker 9: like a way for young videographers to get into the game.
- 53:09Speaker 12: I love like these high school kids too, where even
- 53:10Speaker 12: if they're not recruits, they're making their own graphics of
- 53:13Speaker 12: like where they're going to school, Like.
- 53:14Speaker 9: The decision committed, hats on the table, right, committed Bridgewater State, Like.
- 53:22Speaker 1: Let's go back to uh the phone, Zackson, New Hampshire, Hey, Zach.
- 53:27Speaker 20: You guys think kick my call for sure?
- 53:29Speaker 16: I was just wondering if the Patriots end up going
- 53:32Speaker 16: receiver in the first round who would be your ideal edge.
- 53:35Speaker 21: Guy in the second round, you know, like Derek Moore
- 53:37Speaker 21: those Yeah.
- 53:39Speaker 1: Great question, Zach. Me and I were just talking about
- 53:41Speaker 1: that and uh, let me, I'll rattle them on. He said,
- 53:43Speaker 1: our Mason Thomas.
- 53:44Speaker 6: Yeah, you're Derek Moore.
- 53:46Speaker 5: Derek Moore, akiskis one of those you don't like ar
- 53:49Speaker 5: Mason anymore. He's fine, He's a little undersized, a little
- 53:52Speaker 5: light for that position. I think he's also going to
- 53:54Speaker 5: probably go like forty seventh or something like that. It's
- 53:57Speaker 5: gonna be like a weird spot for them to get
- 53:59Speaker 5: their hands on him. Him and Malachi Lawrence are the
- 54:01Speaker 5: two guys that I feel like are in the donut.
- 54:03Speaker 6: Like, I don't really.
- 54:04Speaker 5: See how that's gonna happen unless they like reach on
- 54:07Speaker 5: one of them at thirty one, which feels like I reached.
- 54:09Speaker 5: So I feel those two are in that. Like, Okay,
- 54:15Speaker 5: if they were to let's say they were to trade
- 54:16Speaker 5: down like we talked about the other day, and they
- 54:18Speaker 5: go to thirty one to like thirty nine, you know,
- 54:20Speaker 5: maybe you start talking about drafting one of those guys there,
- 54:24Speaker 5: but Actus or Derek Moore either one, Like, I don't
- 54:28Speaker 5: really have a preference. I think they're similar players, similar
- 54:31Speaker 5: play style, similar positions.
- 54:32Speaker 6: So just whichever one you.
- 54:34Speaker 1: Like, what's your favor?
- 54:35Speaker 5: Yeah, like once they you know, this is the tiebreakers,
- 54:37Speaker 5: Like when you get to know the guy, get them,
- 54:39Speaker 5: get them on the thirty visits and you know, learn
- 54:42Speaker 5: about their backgrounds and stuff like that, then they can
- 54:44Speaker 5: decide which guys more of their culture fit to.
- 54:48Speaker 1: Hop over to South in Hartford. Hey, South, thanks for
- 54:50Speaker 1: calling in.
- 54:52Speaker 21: Hey my pleasure. You guys do a great job with
- 54:54Speaker 21: the show.
- 54:56Speaker 7: You know.
- 54:57Speaker 21: I'll just say this about the Hall of Fame that
- 54:59Speaker 21: the Patriots of you know, Evan, you said the Hall
- 55:03Speaker 21: a very good. It's really a popularity contest because you
- 55:06Speaker 21: got fans voting. I would prefer I would have preferred,
- 55:10Speaker 21: I should say, to have seen the Hall of Fame
- 55:13Speaker 21: done in the following fashion where there's multiple players that
- 55:17Speaker 21: can go in, or on some years nobody goes in,
- 55:20Speaker 21: but it is based on really the stats of the
- 55:24Speaker 21: player and not on you know, ge, we prefer Edelman
- 55:27Speaker 21: over over Venitaria because there's a lot of recency bias.
- 55:30Speaker 21: I mean, Vinitary was vital to the success of the Pats,
- 55:35Speaker 21: and I understand they kind of you know, did a
- 55:40Speaker 21: hiccup on the year that Tom was was was inducted,
- 55:44Speaker 21: and he didn't wait the time that everybody else waits.
- 55:47Speaker 21: I mean, I don't know why they structured it this way.
- 55:50Speaker 21: I would I mean, I really just not just a
- 55:52Speaker 21: comment that's not really so much a question I would have.
- 55:56Speaker 21: I think when you when you've got Adam and he's
- 56:00Speaker 21: coming up against Guac, it doesn't matter how well Guanc played.
- 56:05Speaker 21: Ultimately Adam, who's now in the NFL Hall of Fame,
- 56:08Speaker 21: that the team's got to structure something where if you
- 56:12Speaker 21: get into the NFL Hall of Fame and you're an
- 56:14Speaker 21: iconic player with the team like Adam was for all
- 56:17Speaker 21: those championships, that the owner should be stepping in or
- 56:21Speaker 21: just redo the process. I'll hear your comments off off
- 56:26Speaker 21: the air, and I thank you very much, guys, A
- 56:28Speaker 21: great job.
- 56:29Speaker 2: Thanks.
- 56:30Speaker 1: I really appreciate it.
- 56:31Speaker 6: Dude.
- 56:32Speaker 5: I think what you said though, like this is so
- 56:34Speaker 5: unique to the Patriots. They have these iconic, you know,
- 56:38Speaker 5: greatest of all time level players at their positions that
- 56:41Speaker 5: all played for the Patriots at the same time like that,
- 56:44Speaker 5: you know, not obviously at the same time, but same stretch. Yeah,
- 56:48Speaker 5: and I think that's very very unique to the Patriots,
- 56:52Speaker 5: which makes it hard to when it comes to these
- 56:54Speaker 5: types of things.
- 56:55Speaker 6: I am not opposed to.
- 56:57Speaker 5: Putting let's say five names on the ballot, ten names
- 57:00Speaker 5: on the ballot. If you can get to ten, and
- 57:03Speaker 5: if you have over ninety vote or eighty percent vote,
- 57:08Speaker 5: that you can let in multiple which is how they
- 57:10Speaker 5: would do it for like the Baseball Hall of Fame.
- 57:13Speaker 9: I mean, like two guys are like, yeah, neck and
- 57:15Speaker 9: neck forty per.
- 57:16Speaker 5: So let's say you put everybody that got nominated and
- 57:20Speaker 5: the committee a couple of weeks ago, gets put on
- 57:23Speaker 5: a ballot, and then the fans can vote for up
- 57:26Speaker 5: to three of the ten people that were nominated, and
- 57:31Speaker 5: if those you know, if more than one person gets
- 57:34Speaker 5: over a threshold, then you put multiple people in. If
- 57:38Speaker 5: one person gets over the threshold, they go in. If
- 57:41Speaker 5: nobody gets over the threshold, then nobody goes in. And
- 57:44Speaker 5: I wouldn't be totally opposed to that, because that's how
- 57:46Speaker 5: they do a lot of other Hall of fames. You know,
- 57:48Speaker 5: that's how it works. So that's that's how the Profooball
- 57:51Speaker 5: Hall of Fame works too. As we got to explained
- 57:53Speaker 5: to us at the Super Bowl for about forty five
- 57:56Speaker 5: minutes where my eyes were starting to loss over trying
- 57:59Speaker 5: to follow all of it. But you know, most Hall
- 58:02Speaker 5: of Fames have that, like a ranked choice type of
- 58:05Speaker 5: system like that.
- 58:06Speaker 1: I like that too, because it's not such a change that.
- 58:09Speaker 9: All right, we're gonna let three guys in every year now,
- 58:11Speaker 9: and then we're gonna get to twenty thirty and it's
- 58:12Speaker 9: like we ain't got three guys, right, and then you
- 58:14Speaker 9: have to change it again.
- 58:15Speaker 1: So I think that's interesting.
- 58:17Speaker 9: Let's grab one more call here before we take a break.
- 58:20Speaker 9: It's Kelvin and Florida. Hey Kelvin, thanks for calling in.
- 58:24Speaker 5: Hey, how you doing?
- 58:25Speaker 14: I just had a question. Do you guys think the
- 58:28Speaker 14: Pigeots could draft Denzel Boston and get aj Brown and
- 58:32Speaker 14: try and recreate something similar to t Higgins and Jamar
- 58:36Speaker 14: Chase where Denzel Boston is in that inside slide he
- 58:39Speaker 14: can go outside kind of rolling.
- 58:41Speaker 21: How do you think that would work out if.
- 58:43Speaker 3: We did do that?
- 58:44Speaker 5: Thank you?
- 58:45Speaker 1: You're talking my language here. No, I just did a
- 58:48Speaker 1: whole ram. We shot a video. I just I've come
- 58:50Speaker 1: around on not come around.
- 58:51Speaker 9: I like Denzel Boston and I'm not afraid that he's
- 58:53Speaker 9: a Nikhil Harry guy. I don't know if they're gonna
- 58:56Speaker 9: go with him at thirty first overall, but as I
- 58:58Speaker 9: laid out to Evan in the video, I feel like
- 59:00Speaker 9: he's a great match for Drake May and you know
- 59:02Speaker 9: for a long term companion wide receiver. He's gonna say
- 59:06Speaker 9: that companion a long term companion, but he just he
- 59:09Speaker 9: doesn't drop the ball. He's a red zone threat. You know,
- 59:12Speaker 9: almost all his touchdowns were in the red zone. I
- 59:15Speaker 9: just see him as a guy that can grow with
- 59:17Speaker 9: Drake May, can be that, you know, big bodied. Every
- 59:20Speaker 9: week the other team maybe you know, we talk about
- 59:23Speaker 9: who's the guy you gotta figure out.
- 59:24Speaker 12: Now.
- 59:24Speaker 9: I'm not saying like he's you know, Jamar Chase where
- 59:26Speaker 9: you're like, we got to double him, but he's the
- 59:28Speaker 9: kind of guy that has the size that you're like,
- 59:30Speaker 9: we got to figure out a plan because if our
- 59:32Speaker 9: short corner gets matched up on him in the slot,
- 59:34Speaker 9: they're gonna throw a fade and it's gonna be an
- 59:36Speaker 9: automatic six.
- 59:37Speaker 1: So you know that, I just I really like him.
- 59:39Speaker 9: I like what the potentially and and I think that's
- 59:42Speaker 9: the question though, is can you take a receiver at
- 59:44Speaker 9: thirty one and still you know, find where next year's
- 59:47Speaker 9: second are you going to trade that for a like in.
- 59:50Speaker 5: My opinion, now, like now you're drafting a receiver in
- 59:52Speaker 5: the first round, you're trading a high draft pick for
- 59:55Speaker 5: AJ Brown, and you just paid Romeo Dobbs like all
- 59:58Speaker 5: at the same time, and you know at some point
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: you have to spend resources in other places that aren't
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: just wide receiver.
- 1:00:05Speaker 6: I know, people, I think.
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: The O the caller is probably in the line of
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: thinking of like, let's just solve this once and for
- 1:00:10Speaker 5: all and like stop worrying about.
- 1:00:12Speaker 7: It is to do that.
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: But I think that you're getting one of a high
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: draft pick or AJ Brown because I think they really
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: like Romeo Dobs like I and that this isn't like
- 1:00:23Speaker 5: to say anything, you know, like they need more than that,
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: because I think they really like Romeo Dobs. Now it's
- 1:00:31Speaker 5: Romeo Dobbs a true number one receiver, probably not, but
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: if you're pairing him with Denzel Boston or you're paying
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: him with AJ Brown, like that's your one two punch
- 1:00:40Speaker 5: moving forward, and I just would be wary of investing
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: that many resources in one position.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I like that.
- 1:00:45Speaker 9: I mean It's an interesting difference though, between if you
- 1:00:49Speaker 9: draft a kid, you feel like you have some time.
- 1:00:53Speaker 9: I know that you need him to produce and deliver
- 1:00:55Speaker 9: immediately and show some promise at least, but you feel like,
- 1:00:57Speaker 9: all right, we're in the process now, like whereas if
- 1:01:00Speaker 9: you get AJ Brown, don't you feel like there's gonna
- 1:01:03Speaker 9: be immediate.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: Pressure to be like, we need this is it?
- 1:01:06Speaker 9: We got AJ Brown, he's not gonna you know, we
- 1:01:08Speaker 9: got maybe two years, maybe three, you know, I maybe
- 1:01:11Speaker 9: even one, Like it was with Digs, that.
- 1:01:13Speaker 5: That would be that would it would worry I guess
- 1:01:15Speaker 5: you're kind of saying what I'm saying, like the mercenary
- 1:01:17Speaker 5: thing would worry me, where it's like every other year,
- 1:01:22Speaker 5: Drake May has a new number one wide receiver, because
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: you're just kind of looking for mercenaries at the end
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: of their careers that you can kind of latch onto
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: that have some star power and name recognition and that
- 1:01:33Speaker 5: type of thing. So you know, last year it was Diggs,
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: and next year it's gonna be AJ Brown, and then
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: we might revisit the AJ Brown thing at the end
- 1:01:39Speaker 5: of the next year, and then the year after that
- 1:01:41Speaker 5: it's gonna be somebody different, and I don't think that
- 1:01:43Speaker 5: that's necessarily the best way to go about it for
- 1:01:46Speaker 5: Drake May. Now, if that person's revolving and Romeo Dobbs
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: is a hit and they really really like him, then
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: maybe he can be kind of the steady guy that
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: grows with Drake May. He's only twenty five, so like
- 1:01:58Speaker 5: maybe he can be the one that's here for the
- 1:02:00Speaker 5: next five six years as Drake May's guy. But I
- 1:02:05Speaker 5: am a little bit wary of the gun for higher thing,
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: like we're just continuing to just rotate through number one
- 1:02:09Speaker 5: wide receivers.
- 1:02:10Speaker 9: Well, it kind of fits into like coming off a
- 1:02:12Speaker 9: Super Bowl, Like how do you feel about this team?
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: Do you feel like they went to a Super Bowl?
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: The window is open.
- 1:02:18Speaker 9: They need to do everything they can right now with
- 1:02:21Speaker 9: Drake on a rookie contract to try to maximize and
- 1:02:24Speaker 9: get back to the Super Bowl. Or do you feel
- 1:02:26Speaker 9: like next Last year was an outstanding year, a little
- 1:02:28Speaker 9: bit of an anomaly for multiple reasons of how they
- 1:02:30Speaker 9: were able to get into that game.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: We're thinking more long term.
- 1:02:34Speaker 9: You have three of your wide receivers currently on the
- 1:02:36Speaker 9: roster that are all going to be free agents next year,
- 1:02:38Speaker 9: so it. Even if you just have Dobs this year
- 1:02:40Speaker 9: and you don't even draft a wide receiver or get
- 1:02:42Speaker 9: Aj Brown, you've got serious concerns at that spot for
- 1:02:45Speaker 9: next year, whether you want to keep Booty and Hollins
- 1:02:47Speaker 9: or you know, in pop or let them go. So
- 1:02:49Speaker 9: it's just it's I feel like we'll come out of
- 1:02:51Speaker 9: the draft and we'll have a little bit more sense
- 1:02:53Speaker 9: of like their philosophy of like are we continuing a slow,
- 1:02:57Speaker 9: methodical build, which I think they kind of that's what
- 1:03:00Speaker 9: their philosophy.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: Is, and maybe it's not. Maybe it's both.
- 1:03:05Speaker 9: You know, can you split that and say, yes, we're
- 1:03:07Speaker 9: gonna continue to be methodical at certain positions that we're
- 1:03:10Speaker 9: gonna draft, but at the same time, we feel like
- 1:03:13Speaker 9: you need immediate talent at wide receiver that you can
- 1:03:15Speaker 9: look at Aj Brown walking through that door and say
- 1:03:18Speaker 9: we need you and Drake like on week one, week two,
- 1:03:20Speaker 9: like they you know, like they had with Digs where
- 1:03:22Speaker 9: it really started to click where you know, but if
- 1:03:25Speaker 9: it was Boston, I'd be a little bit more like, okay,
- 1:03:27Speaker 9: like let's get them involved. But you know, you're gonna
- 1:03:30Speaker 9: have Dobs in Boston to develop and grow with and
- 1:03:34Speaker 9: that's just a lot that's appealing to me about that.
- 1:03:36Speaker 9: But anyway, we'll pick it up on the other side.

- 1:06:19Speaker 9: Just over two weeks to go till the NFL Draft,
- 1:06:21Speaker 9: and today we're talking about the offensive line.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: Let's do it. We'll be thirty thirty three. The New
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: England pat.
- 1:06:32Speaker 9: Welcome everybody to Patriots Draft Downtown, presented by bud Light,
- 1:06:35Speaker 9: Easy to drink, easy to enjoy. Bud Light, the official
- 1:06:37Speaker 9: beer sponsor of the New England Patriots, and guys were,
- 1:06:40Speaker 9: as they said, just over two weeks away.
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: Let to finally get into we got mock drafts.
- 1:06:43Speaker 9: I think we're all getting a little bit of draft fatigue,
- 1:06:45Speaker 9: a little bit of latest news. Though, to discuss Marty
- 1:06:47Speaker 9: Mapu gets traded to Houston, Paul, why do they choose
- 1:06:50Speaker 9: to make moves like this a random two weeks before
- 1:06:53Speaker 9: the draft.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a great question.
- 1:06:54Speaker 4: I don't have a good answer for you, but I
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: will say just to you know, specifically with that position.
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: Obviously they were not happy with the depth.
- 1:07:02Speaker 4: Because these guys are not making a tremendous amount of money,
- 1:07:05Speaker 4: so there's not a lot of.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: Cash savings involved.
- 1:07:07Speaker 4: But Jolani Tavai, Jack Gibbons now Marty Marpu, and they
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: only really signed kJ Britt as a replacement. So I
- 1:07:16Speaker 4: would expect as we move into you know two, you
- 1:07:18Speaker 4: said it's two weeks out, I would expect off ball
- 1:07:21Speaker 4: linebacker at some point in the draft.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: You can need some depth guys. Yeah, talk to me.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: I will give me some off the ball line back
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: as we look at here.
- 1:07:27Speaker 5: Well, I would say that it depends on what you're
- 1:07:30Speaker 5: trying to do. Are you trying to get somebody that
- 1:07:32Speaker 5: compliments Robert Splain or are you trying to get somebody
- 1:07:35Speaker 5: that replaces Roberts playing, because I think a lot of
- 1:07:37Speaker 5: the guys that they moved on from are depth players
- 1:07:40Speaker 5: or you know, backups. But if you're drafting somebody with
- 1:07:43Speaker 5: the top one hundred pick, that's not what you're projecting
- 1:07:46Speaker 5: that player to be.
- 1:07:47Speaker 6: So I think that's question number one.
- 1:07:50Speaker 5: You know, I know that there's a lot of guys
- 1:07:51Speaker 5: at the top of the draft that people probably get
- 1:07:54Speaker 5: excited about.
- 1:07:54Speaker 6: Anthony Hill Junior, CJ Allen Rodriguez.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: Of course, I think that's.
- 1:08:00Speaker 5: A little bit high for what they are looking for.
- 1:08:03Speaker 5: I think this is a pipeline pick, like we keep
- 1:08:05Speaker 5: talking about it, at several different positions, where you're probably
- 1:08:08Speaker 5: drafting somebody with the idea maybe this year he's the
- 1:08:11Speaker 5: third guy behind Ellison Spallane that develops into hopefully a
- 1:08:16Speaker 5: larger role. So looking at the board, you know, I
- 1:08:18Speaker 5: think that's when you start to get into third, fourth round.
- 1:08:22Speaker 5: You know, Aiden Fisher, Bryce Boucher from Morgan, you know,
- 1:08:26Speaker 5: those types of players, and then maybe you know if
- 1:08:28Speaker 5: you're looking for more of those athletic week side guys,
- 1:08:31Speaker 5: you know, Kyle Lewis, Harold Perkins, you know, somebody like that,
- 1:08:34Speaker 5: So depends on which way you want to go. I'll
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: throw out one more name that I just think is
- 1:08:39Speaker 5: a verable type of player, and that's Jake Goldie from Cincinnati,
- 1:08:42Speaker 5: who just plays angry, plays with his hair on fire,
- 1:08:45Speaker 5: plays downhill full tilt.
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: That's an effort and finish, you.
- 1:08:49Speaker 5: Know the words they always use their effort and finish
- 1:08:52Speaker 5: and violence. And that's a guy that plays violently and
- 1:08:55Speaker 5: could probably use some seasoning, you know, in terms of
- 1:08:58Speaker 5: play processing and element that sort of thing. So I
- 1:09:01Speaker 5: ended having a year behind Robert Splaine to sort of
- 1:09:04Speaker 5: learn the ropes wouldn't be terrible.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe kJ Brick can play some snaps too. I
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: mean you've he's done that a little bit as some depth.
- 1:09:09Speaker 9: Batist, I want to check in with you because we
- 1:09:11Speaker 9: talk on PU all the time.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: Where are you at with this draft? Who do you like?
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: What's going on at thirty first? Overall? For you?
- 1:09:17Speaker 10: I like Zion Young the edge rusher, but there's only
- 1:09:21Speaker 10: like I'd trade up for Sadik. I don't think that's
- 1:09:23Speaker 10: going to happen, But it's just I think I just
- 1:09:25Speaker 10: look back at other drafts and I think the Patriots
- 1:09:26Speaker 10: got lucky that we picked early when we did, Like,
- 1:09:28Speaker 10: there's no really there's some top talent guys, but you
- 1:09:32Speaker 10: really can't go wrong at thirty one. So I'm thinking
- 1:09:34Speaker 10: trade back or Zion young, but be safe.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: It's tough.
- 1:09:37Speaker 9: It's tough to figure out a thirty one. I mean,
- 1:09:38Speaker 9: we've been lamenting it all week. So guys, we're going
- 1:09:40Speaker 9: to talk offensive line today. That's what the show's about.
- 1:09:43Speaker 9: Maybe we can set the table up a little bit here, Paul,
- 1:09:45Speaker 9: because we have talked about it.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: On the shows.
- 1:09:47Speaker 9: Morgan moses long term need perhaps Michael one, you entering
- 1:09:52Speaker 9: the last.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: Year of his deal. How do you see that this
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: need here?
- 1:09:55Speaker 4: So I think it's kind of what Evan's talking about.
- 1:09:57Speaker 4: Are you specifically looking for someone to start right away
- 1:10:00Speaker 4: in case you know, something happens to one of your tackles,
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: or you're looking for depth. So that's where thirty one
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: comes into play. If you're looking for a guy who
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: can potentially be a starter, I think you're going to
- 1:10:10Speaker 4: need to take him there, because if you want to
- 1:10:13Speaker 4: wait till day two or day three, probably you're looking
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: at at a career.
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: Back up.
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: Now, I'm not telling you there are no exceptions at tackle,
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: you can get starters on the interior, so you Michael,
- 1:10:24Speaker 4: when you situation, Mike, I think you could get someone
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: you know, they have all those you know, a couple
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: of fourth round picks, four sixth round picks. Take a
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: flyer or two on offensive lineman, see if you can
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: develop some depth.
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: Yeah, case for thirty one. Tackle at thirty one. I
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: don't want to go too long because I think I
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: went two hours on the.
- 1:10:43Speaker 6: Offensive line radio this show says.
- 1:10:45Speaker 5: He did already going to be a long one, But yeah,
- 1:10:48Speaker 5: I think that Paul nailed it. Like there's a gap
- 1:10:50Speaker 5: of talent in a class like this where you know
- 1:10:52Speaker 5: Ianach or Blake Miller, Caleb Lamu if you want to
- 1:10:55Speaker 5: put him in, there are those end of the first
- 1:10:57Speaker 5: round kind of guys. Then if after those guys in
- 1:11:00Speaker 5: terms of tackles, pure tackles, I don't know if there's
- 1:11:03Speaker 5: gonna be another one drafted until the third round, so
- 1:11:06Speaker 5: you're probably gonna have about, I don't know, a fifty
- 1:11:09Speaker 5: pick gap between tackles, and then I think once you
- 1:11:12Speaker 5: get into that next wave in the end of the
- 1:11:14Speaker 5: third round, you know, Crown Over Bowery Bell, you know
- 1:11:18Speaker 5: all those guys are going to start coming off the
- 1:11:20Speaker 5: board in a short period of time.
- 1:11:21Speaker 6: So to me, it's either you're going early or.
- 1:11:25Speaker 5: You know, you're you're throwing multiple darts, like you know,
- 1:11:28Speaker 5: Give me like two or three of these guys on
- 1:11:30Speaker 5: Day three and hopefully someone develops out.
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: Of that group.
- 1:11:34Speaker 5: You know, going back to Mike on Winner's Draft, that's
- 1:11:36Speaker 5: that's what they did that year, and they drafted multiple
- 1:11:39Speaker 5: Day three linemen and they ended up hitting on one
- 1:11:41Speaker 5: of them.
- 1:11:42Speaker 6: So maybe that's the way they go this time too.
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: All right, well let's jump into it. Tackles, guards, not
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: so much centers. We got it all covered.
- 1:11:49Speaker 9: Check it out, all right, it long last, it's time
- 1:11:54Speaker 9: to talk about the offensive line, or, as Evann Lessar
- 1:11:57Speaker 9: calls it, the most important position in the draft.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: Is that correct, Evan?
- 1:12:01Speaker 5: I believe it is, and I think it was the
- 1:12:03Speaker 5: Patriots for everyone, for everyone.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: Mike Rabel said it the other day at the league meetings.
- 1:12:07Speaker 5: The league has a dearth of offensive line talent right now.
- 1:12:11Speaker 5: And I would say it's not just the talent itself,
- 1:12:14Speaker 5: it's also developing that talent once it gets to the
- 1:12:16Speaker 5: NFL level. And we're at a point in time where
- 1:12:20Speaker 5: I don't even know if there's five starting caliber players
- 1:12:23Speaker 5: on some teams, let alone teams that have valuable backups
- 1:12:26Speaker 5: to those players.
- 1:12:28Speaker 6: So I think this is a league wide issue that
- 1:12:31Speaker 6: however we do it, I don't know.
- 1:12:32Speaker 5: Mike Rabel would probably have a better plan than me,
- 1:12:36Speaker 5: but you have to find a way to not only
- 1:12:40Speaker 5: identify talent better on the offensive line, but I think
- 1:12:42Speaker 5: more specifically develop talent better on the offensive line. Because
- 1:12:47Speaker 5: it's a problem and we want to protect these quarterbacks.
- 1:12:50Speaker 5: They're the life blood of the league. They are the
- 1:12:52Speaker 5: most valuable players in the league. And when for the
- 1:12:56Speaker 5: Patriots case, you want to protect Drake May for hopefully
- 1:12:59Speaker 5: the next fifteen to twenty years of his Patriot career,
- 1:13:02Speaker 5: and it's.
- 1:13:03Speaker 6: Just a problem that theirs is not enough good guys
- 1:13:05Speaker 6: to do it.
- 1:13:06Speaker 9: Well, let's talk a little bit about where the Patriots
- 1:13:08Speaker 9: they talk about all the battle right now, where they
- 1:13:11Speaker 9: stand right now? Of course, you know, traded Garrett Bradberry,
- 1:13:14Speaker 9: looks like they're going to switch Jared Wilson over to
- 1:13:16Speaker 9: center as he was probably drafted to do. Signed Elijah Vera,
- 1:13:19Speaker 9: Tucker Paul, who you know has had some injuries. But
- 1:13:21Speaker 9: if he's healthy, he's ready to go. It could be
- 1:13:23Speaker 9: a really good player for them. Everybody's saying, well, Campbell's
- 1:13:26Speaker 9: going to stay at left tackle. But I think the
- 1:13:28Speaker 9: two issues for me that I kind of look at
- 1:13:30Speaker 9: are Michael Wanu maybe entering the last year of his
- 1:13:32Speaker 9: deal depending on what they're going to do.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: And then Morgan.
- 1:13:34Speaker 9: Moses just with his age. They got all the games
- 1:13:37Speaker 9: out of him last year. They took steps to manage him.
- 1:13:39Speaker 9: But as you look at this position group, Paulie, how
- 1:13:42Speaker 9: do you how do you see it kind of stacking
- 1:13:43Speaker 9: up as far as need.
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: Yeah, for the Patriots, I think that the improvements have
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: been made. I don't think this tackle group doesn't overly
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: impress Maybe that's just me, so, like you know, I
- 1:13:54Speaker 4: think everybody can look at things and come away with
- 1:13:56Speaker 4: different impressions.
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: I agree with the way you unfold the whole thing, Mike.
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: I think that there's some lack of depth, and it's
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: going to be sooner than later, because you know, Morgan
- 1:14:07Speaker 4: Moses going to be thirty five years old, so he's
- 1:14:09Speaker 4: not going to play forever. You need someone in the
- 1:14:11Speaker 4: pipeline at tackle, you know, if it's a swing tackle,
- 1:14:15Speaker 4: whatever you know, they signed James Hudson, you know, as
- 1:14:19Speaker 4: a you know, a potential veteran swing tackle, but certainly
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: no sure thing. So they could be in, you know,
- 1:14:25Speaker 4: in the market here early on in the draft to
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: get a tackle. But as you guys have been telling
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: me for a couple of weeks now, if you don't
- 1:14:33Speaker 4: get a tackle in the first round, there's probably not
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: a great candidate in Day two or certainly beyond at
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: tackle specifically.
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: So it's a tough needle to thread.
- 1:14:43Speaker 9: Yeah, we have seen some mock drafts where you know,
- 1:14:45Speaker 9: maybe it's a you know, guy like Blake Miller coming
- 1:14:47Speaker 9: to the Patriots there thirty first overall.
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: And I think we can kind of make that argument.
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: I don't know if it's exactly the move that we
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: would all want to make for risk.
- 1:14:55Speaker 9: Yeah, but let's first just kind of mention these guys
- 1:14:57Speaker 9: up at the top that they're probably not you know,
- 1:14:59Speaker 9: going to have a chants at of course, you know,
- 1:15:02Speaker 9: Mauno a huge.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: Player, I mean, and that's kind of I feel like
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: a theme. There's like a lot of big dudes. Big
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: it makes you.
- 1:15:09Speaker 9: Wonder like are they athletic enough, can they develop their feet?
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: That kind of thing. But I see that as a
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: little bit of a theme to this class.
- 1:15:14Speaker 17: Yeah, definitely, I think just the classes. I'm Mono's he's
- 1:15:18Speaker 17: one of those guys, especially at that tackle position, who
- 1:15:23Speaker 17: is just he's your raw talent guy, Like he's just
- 1:15:25Speaker 17: gonna carry in a lot of categories there of what
- 1:15:29Speaker 17: somebody would want. I mean, he's projected top ten pick
- 1:15:31Speaker 17: in the draft potentially, and you know someone's gonna get
- 1:15:35Speaker 17: real lucky with him because I think he's the best
- 1:15:37Speaker 17: all around off his alignment in this draft.
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: Yeah, and a lot of experienced guys to him. Mean
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: he's a three year starter of yep. You know. You
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: know they got the two Utah guys.
- 1:15:46Speaker 9: You got those his bookends and Monroe Freeling from Georgia
- 1:15:50Speaker 9: another one.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: Yeah, you know.
- 1:15:52Speaker 9: I mean I saw somebody's ranking, say he had him
- 1:15:54Speaker 9: as the number one overall.
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: And no great moments in.
- 1:16:03Speaker 7: History right right.
- 1:16:05Speaker 23: If they didn't have joint practices, I think this three
- 1:16:07Speaker 23: would be a three.
- 1:16:08Speaker 8: Do you know the difference between a joint and a
- 1:16:10Speaker 8: blunt and a spliff?
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: I heard I heard a little of that talk today.
- 1:16:14Speaker 6: I didn't know what a blunt was. I had to
- 1:16:16Speaker 6: I had to have it explained to me, and I don't.
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: Know if I did.
- 1:16:19Speaker 14: Aunt rolled cigarette, cigar, rolled cigar, and paper.
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: The spliff is a mixed tobacco and weed, is it now?
- 1:16:28Speaker 8: Like in the Gentleman, that's what he ma. He makes
- 1:16:30Speaker 8: himself a nice fifty to fifty mix. Now is it?
- 1:16:33Speaker 6: Is it pronounced?
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: It's a spliff sliff? Yeah, I always. I don't know
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: why I thought it was screez.
- 1:16:38Speaker 9: Sleiff spliffy if you want to pronounced splits spliffy.
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: Now now as I understand it, Matthew, it's pronounced spliff.
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: Is that correct? H Yeah, no, I did.
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: I learned a little something today listening to Hardy and Arkans.
- 1:16:53Speaker 8: But the blood is marijuana, pot dope as as you
- 1:16:56Speaker 8: would as you would acquire and enjoy it.
- 1:16:59Speaker 6: But the blunt itself is actually just the role.
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: Is that correct? It's just a different names.
- 1:17:05Speaker 7: What about the chronic chronics the type of marijuana?
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: I mean, I lived in California.
- 1:17:12Speaker 7: What about the white widow?
- 1:17:15Speaker 6: What is that now? What is the stickiest of the inky?
- 1:17:20Speaker 6: I hate to know?
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: What about the chronic That's another great moment.
- 1:17:28Speaker 24: It's a little hearty flashback there in conversation like put
- 1:17:33Speaker 24: like we'd education like years.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: It's not quite four twenty yet, but uh, we're getting there.
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: We're getting close.
- 1:17:39Speaker 9: Welcome back to Patriot's Unfiltered here or kicking off our
- 1:17:41Speaker 9: two and a little video to share.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: Maybe you should see this up.
- 1:17:45Speaker 9: We told this story a couple of weeks ago here
- 1:17:48Speaker 9: on Patriots on Filtered.
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: Evan and I went and we're part of the draft
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: preview party.
- 1:17:52Speaker 9: You're at Gillette Stadium and we had the chance to
- 1:17:55Speaker 9: meet really passionate patriots and Patriots Unfiltered fan named Booker,
- 1:18:00Speaker 9: who showed Evan his notebook of research and everything.
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: It was really cool.
- 1:18:04Speaker 9: He had a T shirt that we had all signed.
- 1:18:06Speaker 9: We were all like, oh my god, no one wants
- 1:18:08Speaker 9: to see us here, but Booker wanted to see us.
- 1:18:10Speaker 9: So thank you Booker for making us feel like somebody
- 1:18:13Speaker 9: actually cared that.
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: Evan and I were at the party.
- 1:18:15Speaker 9: But then in the middle of our panel, Damien Harris
- 1:18:20Speaker 9: was nice enough to call Booker up. So we've got
- 1:18:21Speaker 9: a quick video sound clip here of Booker and you'll
- 1:18:25Speaker 9: get to hear him profess his Patriots Unfiltered love.
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: What were you doing take through your process? I was
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: probably listening Filter but I didn't watch a lot of film.
- 1:18:41Speaker 13: I maybe looked at the combine.
- 1:18:45Speaker 9: I didn't watch a lot of films. So that was
- 1:18:47Speaker 9: Booker making a little shout out to us. I thought
- 1:18:50Speaker 9: that that was cute.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: Great to share it, appreciate it.
- 1:18:52Speaker 6: Great.
- 1:18:54Speaker 5: Those like school notebooks, Like they had one of those
- 1:18:57Speaker 5: what do they call like the checkered like yeah, no, no,
- 1:19:01Speaker 5: it's like the notebooks with like the checkered the front
- 1:19:04Speaker 5: to it and everything that. Okay, yeah yeah, and and
- 1:19:08Speaker 5: he opens it up and like, honestly, I said to
- 1:19:11Speaker 5: his mother, I was like, this is this was literally
- 1:19:13Speaker 5: me at this age, like this is like I'm looking
- 1:19:16Speaker 5: at myself.
- 1:19:17Speaker 6: Uh, and so she she was super into.
- 1:19:19Speaker 5: I feel bad for Booker though, because we used to
- 1:19:22Speaker 5: have things like draft breakdown and things like that, where
- 1:19:25Speaker 5: before YouTube, like licensing became a big deal. Uh. They
- 1:19:29Speaker 5: people would just push cutups on YouTube of players that
- 1:19:33Speaker 5: were like not highlight reels, but like a full game
- 1:19:37Speaker 5: of like you know, this player versus a certain team
- 1:19:40Speaker 5: and you can just type the player into YouTube and
- 1:19:42Speaker 5: like be able to watch film like on the player.
- 1:19:45Speaker 5: And now YouTube and all these places have cracked down
- 1:19:48Speaker 5: on all that type of stuff. So that it doesn't
- 1:19:51Speaker 5: exist as much, but yeah, it was cool to just
- 1:19:53Speaker 5: see uh see a young draft nerd like myself just
- 1:19:58Speaker 5: plugging away.
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: He had pass and the thoughts about I think it
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: was Anthony Hill Junior.
- 1:20:02Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, like.
- 1:20:03Speaker 5: Combine measurements, p f F grades and like all like
- 1:20:07Speaker 5: everything that you know.
- 1:20:09Speaker 9: It was cool, cool, Well, thank you booker appreciated and
- 1:20:12Speaker 9: hopefully your composition notebook.
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:20:16Speaker 6: He used to buy him in like packages a three
- 1:20:18Speaker 6: years like the checker.
- 1:20:20Speaker 9: Yeah, a paper girl paper.
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: Uh so we got some emails here.
- 1:20:29Speaker 9: Let's run over to those questions coming in and this
- 1:20:32Speaker 9: one's from Rob from the UK. I thought on Tuesday
- 1:20:34Speaker 9: show the poor drafting at the end of Bill's career
- 1:20:36Speaker 9: was discussed. What do you think that was down to?
- 1:20:39Speaker 9: Was it more Bill not trusting people the scouting department reports,
- 1:20:42Speaker 9: ego thinking his way was the only way to do it,
- 1:20:44Speaker 9: or all of his trusted voices having left all of this.
- 1:20:48Speaker 9: It's a great, great question, the debate why did they
- 1:20:52Speaker 9: all of a sudden just start missing hard And you know,
- 1:20:54Speaker 9: with the release of Marty Mapu it's another draft class.
- 1:20:57Speaker 9: We see it all the time on our social media
- 1:20:59Speaker 9: where they show you the draft class, and then.
- 1:21:02Speaker 10: That makes you not value most of them, really makes
- 1:21:04Speaker 10: you not value picks like, oh, well, they can't give
- 1:21:07Speaker 10: up a third for a J. Brown while it could
- 1:21:09Speaker 10: be a linebacker from Sacramento Stater.
- 1:21:11Speaker 7: You're sure you don't want to make.
- 1:21:11Speaker 6: That, but yeah, they I don't know. I think that.
- 1:21:21Speaker 5: The main reason to me that there was a disconnect
- 1:21:24Speaker 5: was that there's a difference really between like coaching and scouting,
- 1:21:30Speaker 5: and I think that Bill just would kind of swoop
- 1:21:33Speaker 5: in at the end, you know, in January when the
- 1:21:36Speaker 5: season or February when there the Patriots season would end,
- 1:21:39Speaker 5: and just start making decisions about guys that the scouts
- 1:21:42Speaker 5: had been scouting all the way from the prior spring,
- 1:21:45Speaker 5: you know, and all the way through, and they had
- 1:21:48Speaker 5: this whole you know, birth of information, and he had
- 1:21:52Speaker 5: this much information, and they had that much information, and
- 1:21:54Speaker 5: they were drafting on the this much information, and uh,
- 1:21:58Speaker 5: for whatever reason, you know, he it just kind of
- 1:22:01Speaker 5: ran dry and he wasn't able to replicate it. I
- 1:22:04Speaker 5: would also say, you know, from what I observed like
- 1:22:06Speaker 5: early on in Bill's career, I think he might have
- 1:22:09Speaker 5: had like the stamina to put that much effort into it.
- 1:22:12Speaker 5: And then as it kind of got he got older.
- 1:22:15Speaker 5: I don't know if Bill Belichick had the stamina to
- 1:22:18Speaker 5: be build a GM and build a coach by twenty
- 1:22:21Speaker 5: twenty one, twenty twenty two, twenty twenty three. You know,
- 1:22:24Speaker 5: I think that it was a lot to ask of
- 1:22:26Speaker 5: a sixty seventy year old man at that point.
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: I think Ernie Adams had to do with all that process.
- 1:22:33Speaker 5: Ernie Adams, I would say, it was more about UH
- 1:22:36Speaker 5: sorting sorting the board than it was so much scouting
- 1:22:39Speaker 5: the board. Like he was big on you know, their
- 1:22:43Speaker 5: grading system and you know the color coded and the
- 1:22:47Speaker 5: numbers and the letters and the colors and pink stripes
- 1:22:51Speaker 5: and like all that kind of stuff. I don't know
- 1:22:53Speaker 5: if Ernie Adams was necessarily like turning the tape on
- 1:22:56Speaker 5: and finding the players. He was kind of organizing the
- 1:23:00Speaker 5: players on the board. I would say, you know, another
- 1:23:02Speaker 5: big one to me would be Nick Cassario. Like I
- 1:23:05Speaker 5: think Nick Assario UH started to get the respect of
- 1:23:10Speaker 5: Bill to give him some of the reins to the
- 1:23:13Speaker 5: operation on the scouting side. And I don't know if
- 1:23:16Speaker 5: they never they never really developed a guy that Bill
- 1:23:19Speaker 5: I think felt one hundred percent comfortable with giving as
- 1:23:22Speaker 5: much responsibility to like he did Nick Asario.
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: Well in Houston too.
- 1:23:26Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean the twenty three draft ended up being fine,
- 1:23:29Speaker 5: Like obviously you pick Gonzo at the top, that that helps.
- 1:23:31Speaker 6: But you know they picked Gonzo.
- 1:23:34Speaker 5: Uh you know, Keyon White, Tomorow Douglas, and Kaishan Boodie
- 1:23:37Speaker 5: were in that draft, so you know they've had worse
- 1:23:40Speaker 5: drafts than twenty twenty three that that's for sure. Like
- 1:23:43Speaker 5: that one was, especially with Gonzo. I would say that
- 1:23:47Speaker 5: was probably steers towards a good.
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: Draft, which how close do you think they came to
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: not taking him?
- 1:23:51Speaker 25: Yeah, but I think between him and you need to
- 1:24:00Speaker 25: take him at this Yeah.
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: And I both writing about him like he'll be long gone.
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: There's no way he's making it.
- 1:24:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:24:06Speaker 6: I think it's funny too because.
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: Bill makes no sense to me.
- 1:24:09Speaker 6: The picks.
- 1:24:10Speaker 5: Gonzo was a home run, and I remember in real
- 1:24:14Speaker 5: time feeling the picks through rounds two through five. I
- 1:24:17Speaker 5: was like, Okay, now we're back on Bill's bs, right,
- 1:24:20Speaker 5: like Keon White, Marte Mapu, Chad Ryland in.
- 1:24:23Speaker 6: The fourth round. H Yeah, yeah, great.
- 1:24:28Speaker 5: City, so you know, uh Mafi like all those guys
- 1:24:34Speaker 5: in the middle rounds and then I remember Day three,
- 1:24:36Speaker 5: I was pretty upset.
- 1:24:37Speaker 6: I was in the dumps, I was down, and.
- 1:24:39Speaker 5: Then they hit me with the back to back Kasha
- 1:24:41Speaker 5: on Booty Tomorrow Douglass and I was like, and I'm back,
- 1:24:44Speaker 5: but there we go. At the time, it felt like
- 1:24:49Speaker 5: those were the picks I liked. And I'm not doing
- 1:24:51Speaker 5: this to pat myself on the back. It's just like
- 1:24:53Speaker 5: it's a consensus thing, right, where like you pick players
- 1:24:56Speaker 5: that made sense where you picked them, and who were
- 1:24:59Speaker 5: the ones that worked out Christian Gonzalez, Kishan Booty and
- 1:25:01Speaker 5: Pop Douglas like that, That just is kind of how
- 1:25:03Speaker 5: it works.
- 1:25:04Speaker 10: Do you think if Bill was in charge at twenty
- 1:25:06Speaker 10: four draft Drake Mas our quarterback.
- 1:25:08Speaker 5: No, they would have traded down and I think I
- 1:25:11Speaker 5: think that, yeah, he would have taken away.
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: He Bill talked about him.
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: He talked about.
- 1:25:17Speaker 12: Drake like that because he was salty with us, or
- 1:25:21Speaker 12: like would he.
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: Actually know like that?
- 1:25:23Speaker 7: No, I think we might have been with a nine
- 1:25:25Speaker 7: situation because.
- 1:25:26Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure that he talked about Drake made before
- 1:25:29Speaker 5: he was even drafted poorly, about his mechanics and his
- 1:25:34Speaker 5: footwork and his pro readiness and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:25:37Speaker 5: Now that's a trade down and draft like some random
- 1:25:40Speaker 5: non quarterback that in the top ten and then like, oh,
- 1:25:44Speaker 5: but we got all these extra picks, which.
- 1:25:46Speaker 10: Then you want to do draft the random linebacker from
- 1:25:49Speaker 10: Sacramento State. Hopefully it's the simplest thing for a little
- 1:25:56Speaker 10: he did well. I mean, you hop right in like
- 1:25:59Speaker 10: two years ago and just played the whole game.
- 1:26:02Speaker 5: But that's I still think they developed them at the
- 1:26:04Speaker 5: wrong position. That's not his fault.
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: Did you tell him that before he left?
- 1:26:08Speaker 9: You know, a couple of our emails here just h
- 1:26:13Speaker 9: Tyler thinks it should instead of Patriots, the Kids show
- 1:26:16Speaker 9: should be Patriots Unfiltered, young and restless.
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: So I'm not young. I don't know if you guys
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: are restless.
- 1:26:21Speaker 5: But at heart, I feel like I'm still at the
- 1:26:25Speaker 5: kids table because like family fault family wise, because like
- 1:26:29Speaker 5: I'm not like my parents and like my aunts and
- 1:26:31Speaker 5: uncles and stuff like that are still technically the adults
- 1:26:34Speaker 5: in the house. But now like my sister, like I
- 1:26:37Speaker 5: have my nephew, and my cousins have kids and like
- 1:26:40Speaker 5: so it's like now we're in the middle, you.
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: Know, yeahs like you and just have to pop out
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: some kids.
- 1:26:46Speaker 6: Absolutely, there you go.
- 1:26:47Speaker 5: But there's this weird middle ground right of like you're
- 1:26:50Speaker 5: not the adults, but you're no longer the youngest ones
- 1:26:53Speaker 5: at the Thanksgiving either. Now you're just like in this
- 1:26:56Speaker 5: middle purgatory of weirdness.
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: I'm gonna got one more here, just I feel bad
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: about this one. Jay.
- 1:27:03Speaker 9: It's from a log cabin in Holliston where I grew up.
- 1:27:05Speaker 9: After years of searching for the arsonists who burned down
- 1:27:07Speaker 9: my child at home, I can finally thank.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: The PU crew for finally providing some closure.
- 1:27:12Speaker 9: Sorry about that, Jay, I didn't know you were living
- 1:27:14Speaker 9: in a like a fifteen square foot dilapidated lock cabin in.
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: The middle of the woods in between Melice and Holliston.
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: But sorry about that. But as Penance, I need Mike
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: to answer this question.
- 1:27:25Speaker 9: Mike, you guys identified early in the season the biggest
- 1:27:28Speaker 9: weakness on defense was tight end defense with the loss
- 1:27:31Speaker 9: of multiple linebacker death. Which moves can be made to
- 1:27:33Speaker 9: improve this gap? Is this something that can be adjusted
- 1:27:36Speaker 9: with an updated game plan from Zach core drawing up
- 1:27:38Speaker 9: from the defense from the start and last he wanted
- 1:27:41Speaker 9: to admonish me for signing off Tuesday's show. I was
- 1:27:44Speaker 9: looking forward to Fred ending each show as if we
- 1:27:46Speaker 9: all overstated our welcome in his living room.
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: All right, slapsnee, it's over, get home and get out
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: of here. It's a good question. I would just tap
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: av that we talked a little bit about, you.
- 1:27:56Speaker 9: Know, some of the different linebackers, some of the different
- 1:27:59Speaker 9: safety as you know, is there can they blur the
- 1:28:03Speaker 9: lines a little bit between those position groups a little
- 1:28:05Speaker 9: I mean, they want guys who can run either way, right,
- 1:28:07Speaker 9: So I don't think it should be a huge issue.
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: I mean, I just I don't know if that was
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: the biggest issue though.
- 1:28:12Speaker 9: I just think pressure off the edge is something that
- 1:28:14Speaker 9: I would say that I would most like to get
- 1:28:17Speaker 9: that fired up and you know better.
- 1:28:19Speaker 6: Yeah, I feel like this defense is.
- 1:28:23Speaker 5: Much less fluid in terms of like there's no hybrids anymore.
- 1:28:27Speaker 5: So like we don't have like the Jelani Tavai on
- 1:28:31Speaker 5: the ball off the ball hybrids. We don't have the
- 1:28:33Speaker 5: hybrid safeties anymore that are playing at the second level
- 1:28:36Speaker 5: but also playing some safety and doing that sort of thing.
- 1:28:40Speaker 5: This defense like I kind of feel like you have,
- 1:28:42Speaker 5: you know, the levels to it, like these are the
- 1:28:45Speaker 5: defensive linemen.
- 1:28:46Speaker 6: These are the second level guys.
- 1:28:48Speaker 5: These are the safeties and the back end guys, which
- 1:28:51Speaker 5: I think is in a lot of ways simplifies things.
- 1:28:54Speaker 6: Like even watching.
- 1:28:55Speaker 5: Them on tape, I feel like it was easier to
- 1:28:57Speaker 5: like understand what they were kind of doing because there
- 1:29:01Speaker 5: wasn't as much blurred lines of like, you know, this
- 1:29:04Speaker 5: guy's kind of uh, you know, doing a bunch of
- 1:29:07Speaker 5: different things. So, uh, you know, that should be making
- 1:29:09Speaker 5: it easier in theory to to scout in some ways
- 1:29:12Speaker 5: because like you kind of know what our safeties do,
- 1:29:15Speaker 5: what our linebackers do, what our tackles do.
- 1:29:18Speaker 6: But I don't.
- 1:29:20Speaker 5: I don't know if that's the answer, but like that's
- 1:29:22Speaker 5: sort of how I felt about it was it's more
- 1:29:23Speaker 5: rigid in terms of what exactly each position.
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: You might just have to like drink the poison with.
- 1:29:29Speaker 9: You know, you're gonna have there's some things you have
- 1:29:31Speaker 9: to skimp on a little bit, and you say, look,
- 1:29:33Speaker 9: we love how it is and we're gonna be great
- 1:29:34Speaker 9: against the run, but this is going to be a
- 1:29:36Speaker 9: weakness that we're gonna have to you know, maybe work around.
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: Guys.
- 1:29:38Speaker 9: I don't think i've ever seen the fils. Yeah, stacked
- 1:29:41Speaker 9: up this much, so we got to start geting some
- 1:29:43Speaker 9: of these calls.
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: They are officially fixed.
- 1:29:45Speaker 9: The phones are officially fixed, and all the lines are working,
- 1:29:48Speaker 9: so it's.
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: Been the phones were not working, which is why they'll
- 1:29:52Speaker 5: love about the last five years. Last two days is
- 1:29:55Speaker 5: why we got Like yesterday on ketchways, we went the
- 1:29:58Speaker 5: first hour without a call.
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: Yeah, and I was.
- 1:30:00Speaker 6: Like, I was like, guys, where are people.
- 1:30:07Speaker 9: Let's jump back with like Sean and Vancouver call back
- 1:30:09Speaker 9: in Hey, Sean, thanks for calling back.
- 1:30:11Speaker 16: Hey, thanks Mike. I appreciate it. I have two questions.
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: One, if an AJ Brown.
- 1:30:18Speaker 16: Trade happens, it'll be after June first, and we don't
- 1:30:22Speaker 16: know if it will happen, but do the Patriots know?
- 1:30:25Speaker 16: And my second question is could Pats possibly trade their
- 1:30:29Speaker 16: first round twenty twenty six pick and their second round
- 1:30:33Speaker 16: twenty twenty seventh pick to a team like the Cardinals
- 1:30:37Speaker 16: for their twenty twenty six second round pick and their
- 1:30:39Speaker 16: twenty twenty seven first round pick. I'll leave you on that.
- 1:30:44Speaker 6: You're gonna have to draw that out of the board.
- 1:30:46Speaker 5: Here's something like they do in the draft room, the
- 1:30:49Speaker 5: AJ Brown thing. I highly doubt that they have some
- 1:30:53Speaker 5: like it across the finish line. But I'm sure they
- 1:30:56Speaker 5: have a general idea of whether or not that that's
- 1:31:00Speaker 5: real possibility.
- 1:31:01Speaker 6: Like, I don't think there's any handshake.
- 1:31:03Speaker 5: Deal or under the table wink wink, nudge, nudge. But
- 1:31:07Speaker 5: my guess is that they've talked about parameters or framework
- 1:31:10Speaker 5: of a deal and would be in or not in
- 1:31:13Speaker 5: depending on what that number is.
- 1:31:14Speaker 9: But the leverage of it all interests me because you know,
- 1:31:16Speaker 9: the Patriots do or don't draft a guy, it maybe
- 1:31:18Speaker 9: changes how the Eagles view them and you know, our
- 1:31:21Speaker 9: parameters in place or is it the kind of thing,
- 1:31:23Speaker 9: well we got to see after the draft, how we're feeling.
- 1:31:25Speaker 9: Maybe the Eagles are trying to draft potential replacement for
- 1:31:28Speaker 9: AJ Brown as well.
- 1:31:29Speaker 6: That's a big one too.
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I think it might still be fluid.
- 1:31:32Speaker 9: And I just know if I was the Patriots, I
- 1:31:34Speaker 9: wouldn't want to sit there and let the Eagles think
- 1:31:37Speaker 9: that you've got my second round pick next year all
- 1:31:39Speaker 9: wrapped up already. You know, I'd make them sweat it
- 1:31:42Speaker 9: out a little bit. And you know, I think some
- 1:31:43Speaker 9: of the moves that that they've made, like it makes
- 1:31:46Speaker 9: me feel like.
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: They don't know for sure yet either.
- 1:31:48Speaker 5: But how much are you trusting Howie Rosmen's word too? Like,
- 1:31:52Speaker 5: even if you feel like you have an agree with
- 1:31:55Speaker 5: if June second comes around and another team that didn't
- 1:32:00Speaker 5: get the receiver they wanted in the draft, it has
- 1:32:02Speaker 5: a change of heart on A. J.
- 1:32:04Speaker 6: Brown.
- 1:32:04Speaker 5: And now all of a sudden you get out bid
- 1:32:06Speaker 5: out of nowhere by Buffalo or something, and now you
- 1:32:09Speaker 5: lose the player.
- 1:32:10Speaker 7: You know.
- 1:32:11Speaker 6: I think you gotta be wary of that too.
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: Let's keep going through these. Rudy and Stanford Europe. What's up, Rudy?
- 1:32:22Speaker 9: Rudy a little bit of a hole, but we got
- 1:32:26Speaker 9: plenty of people waiting.
- 1:32:26Speaker 7: Also didn't answer the guy's cardinal question.
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: I'm going to let him go.
- 1:32:29Speaker 7: Which question the cardinal I was supposed to keep.
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: I don't know what it was.
- 1:32:35Speaker 10: We trade our twenty six first for their second, and
- 1:32:40Speaker 10: then it's vice versa.
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: Too complicated.
- 1:32:41Speaker 9: Yeah, I need a board somewhere. Uh, Patty and Aguam,
- 1:32:45Speaker 9: you won't let us down?
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: What's up?
- 1:32:48Speaker 3: What's up?
- 1:32:48Speaker 5: Lady in Jim?
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: Hello?
- 1:32:51Speaker 20: So glad we're kind of you guys are getting in
- 1:32:53Speaker 20: on the A. J. Brown thing. I'm I've been on record.
- 1:32:57Speaker 20: I don't want them. I don't want to keep going
- 1:32:59Speaker 20: in to this mercenary wide receiver pool every couple of years,
- 1:33:04Speaker 20: and you know, having to trade for guys, giving up
- 1:33:06Speaker 20: assets for guys that are in their late twenties that
- 1:33:09Speaker 20: could possibly, I mean, in his specific case, have a
- 1:33:12Speaker 20: degenerative knee problem. I don't know if that's real or not,
- 1:33:15Speaker 20: but just the thought of it scares me. I just
- 1:33:19Speaker 20: my big picture question regarding that is I saw a
- 1:33:22Speaker 20: couple of articles over the weekend and I don't know
- 1:33:24Speaker 20: why I do this to myself and torture myself, but
- 1:33:27Speaker 20: I think the Sporting News had an article about the
- 1:33:31Speaker 20: Cardinals might be looking to move Marvin Harrison Junior. Don't
- 1:33:34Speaker 20: ask me why what they might be. And I also
- 1:33:37Speaker 20: found the Bleacher Report more Brian Thomas Jr. You know,
- 1:33:42Speaker 20: stuff start up again, And I guess the big question is,
- 1:33:47Speaker 20: would it make more sense to try and acquire a
- 1:33:50Speaker 20: guy like that, like the younger guys, and sign him
- 1:33:53Speaker 20: to an extension and have them here and have like
- 1:33:57Speaker 20: have them grow with Drake may then a diminishing ass
- 1:34:00Speaker 20: because that's I mean Brown. If he comes here and
- 1:34:04Speaker 20: he's here for two years, on the second year, he's
- 1:34:07Speaker 20: going to be thirty, and I don't know how much
- 1:34:08Speaker 20: more production they're going to get out of him. That's
- 1:34:10Speaker 20: all I got, guys. I'll pand up there.
- 1:34:12Speaker 5: I just I'm not gonna do the Brian Thomas Junior thing,
- 1:34:16Speaker 5: like until there's actual hard reporting that he's available. I
- 1:34:20Speaker 5: don't think he's available, all right, Yeah, I hear you
- 1:34:22Speaker 5: on AJ Brown. We've been saying it the whole show,
- 1:34:24Speaker 5: like it'd be a good time, not a long time.
- 1:34:27Speaker 6: You know that that's what it would be.
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: But you know it's more of a growing sentiment too.
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: I've heard this more and more for.
- 1:34:33Speaker 6: I think people are just sick of talking.
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: Yeah, but how long has it been? Like everything I
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: go on?
- 1:34:37Speaker 9: When you talk about AJ Brown, I'm like, I feel
- 1:34:38Speaker 9: like we've been talking about him literally since they didn't
- 1:34:40Speaker 9: draft him, you know, like he wanted to come here
- 1:34:42Speaker 9: and he had the video outside and then he there's
- 1:34:44Speaker 9: it's been since then.
- 1:34:45Speaker 10: I just want to talk about the mercenary thing, like
- 1:34:47Speaker 10: that doesn't matter if you win, like for example, Stevan
- 1:34:50Speaker 10: Diggs technically mercenary, but if we won last year, sweet,
- 1:34:54Speaker 10: I kind of look at like the Rams in twenty
- 1:34:56Speaker 10: two or twenty three when they won, they gave up
- 1:34:58Speaker 10: all their picks, Like that stuff doesn't matter if you win.
- 1:35:00Speaker 10: So if you get AJ Brown and you win with it,
- 1:35:02Speaker 10: the next two years doesn't matter.
- 1:35:04Speaker 9: And I'd say, if you draft well and you get
- 1:35:06Speaker 9: AJ Brown and you give up a second round, like
- 1:35:07Speaker 9: I don't really want to give a first round, but
- 1:35:09Speaker 9: you give up a second und it doesn't really matter.
- 1:35:10Speaker 9: Like I don't really think you're setting yourself back. As
- 1:35:12Speaker 9: long as you continue to draft well and you hit
- 1:35:14Speaker 9: on a couple of Day three guys, maybe you know,
- 1:35:16Speaker 9: like that's what you need to do to keep the
- 1:35:18Speaker 9: cupboards stacked.
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: But look, we just listed.
- 1:35:22Speaker 9: Off all the picks the teams miss on all the time,
- 1:35:24Speaker 9: so it's not like they're so valuable. But there is
- 1:35:27Speaker 9: a sense of you got to throw a lot at
- 1:35:29Speaker 9: the wall to get those hits, and you need to
- 1:35:31Speaker 9: have a couple where you just thread the needle. And
- 1:35:33Speaker 9: it was like, man, there was one tight end that
- 1:35:35Speaker 9: wasn't that highly regarded, but they found this guy and
- 1:35:37Speaker 9: all of a sudden, you know, they took a chance
- 1:35:39Speaker 9: on this Rob Gronkousi kid now he's.
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: One of the best.
- 1:35:42Speaker 10: Is it just being hurt too many times. The Cold Strangers,
- 1:35:45Speaker 10: Nikhil Harry is that, like, I just.
- 1:35:47Speaker 5: Think that honestly, we've been talking about trading for AJ
- 1:35:50Speaker 5: Brown all off season and eventually it just kind of
- 1:35:52Speaker 5: gets old and people are just kind of tired of it.
- 1:35:55Speaker 5: I just I would just say that one thing that
- 1:35:57Speaker 5: makes me want to trade for AJ Brown is Drake May. Like,
- 1:36:01Speaker 5: I don't want it to have to be super hard
- 1:36:03Speaker 5: on Drake May. I want him to build off of
- 1:36:05Speaker 5: the year he had last year. I think we saw
- 1:36:07Speaker 5: in the playoffs that the regular season stats were probably
- 1:36:11Speaker 5: a little bit inflated based off of who they played.
- 1:36:14Speaker 5: And it's gonna be harder for him next year. They're
- 1:36:16Speaker 5: gonna teams are gonna be gunning for him, They're gonna
- 1:36:18Speaker 5: have game plans for him. It's a much tougher schedule.
- 1:36:22Speaker 5: And if you don't give him enough weaponry to go
- 1:36:26Speaker 5: out there, and you know, if you make him go
- 1:36:28Speaker 5: to a gunfight with a little switchblade, then he's gonna
- 1:36:31Speaker 5: be in trouble. And if that leads to regression, then
- 1:36:34Speaker 5: that's the worst possible thing that could happen.
- 1:36:36Speaker 6: So even if A J.
- 1:36:37Speaker 5: Brown's here, just to make sure that Drake May keeps
- 1:36:40Speaker 5: the arrow pointing upward. I think it's worth it, even
- 1:36:43Speaker 5: if it's not for the next five years.
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: Don't bring nves to a gunfight. It's very true. Sad
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: down to Penn State, Spencer Collin and hey Spencer, thanks
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: for calling.
- 1:36:53Speaker 3: Thank you for taking my code. My question is, in
- 1:36:57Speaker 3: talking about a lot of these tackles, you know, like
- 1:37:00Speaker 3: Blake Miller and Iana Chore, how did these guys stack
- 1:37:04Speaker 3: up to Will Campbell when he was when he was
- 1:37:08Speaker 3: a prospect, Because part of me thinks, if you know,
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: if it's really kind of a kind of not much
- 1:37:15Speaker 3: of a difference, how much better off would we have
- 1:37:18Speaker 3: been last year taking a guy like Pat McMillan it
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: for and then you know, riding it out with Vederian
- 1:37:25Speaker 3: Lowe or something, and then this year taking a tackle
- 1:37:28Speaker 3: who whatever has the fall like Will Campbell, like the
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: arm length or something like that. Anyway, thanks for taking
- 1:37:34Speaker 3: my call, guy, Thanks best.
- 1:37:36Speaker 6: Yeah, the Ted McMillan thing is fair.
- 1:37:37Speaker 5: It's a fair second guess after the year that Ted had,
- 1:37:40Speaker 5: I mean, he was great for Carolina, I would say
- 1:37:43Speaker 5: Will Campbell his pro readiness at a young age was rare.
- 1:37:49Speaker 5: It made him a really highly touted prospect. His ability,
- 1:37:54Speaker 5: you know, they kind of all knew all along that
- 1:37:56Speaker 5: he was going to be able to start right away
- 1:37:58Speaker 5: as a rookie, and that's not easy to do at
- 1:38:00Speaker 5: that position. So you got a guide in here that,
- 1:38:04Speaker 5: especially compared to yanichor is Is was way more pro
- 1:38:08Speaker 5: ready and you know, ready to step in instantly.
- 1:38:11Speaker 6: So if you obviously you wouldn't.
- 1:38:13Speaker 5: I don't think you would have been picking thirty one
- 1:38:15Speaker 5: if you hadn't drafted Will Campbell necessarily, but let's say
- 1:38:18Speaker 5: you everything else goes the same exact way. If you're
- 1:38:22Speaker 5: picking a Yanitor now at thirty one, he's two years away,
- 1:38:26Speaker 5: you know, so like you still haven't solved the left
- 1:38:28Speaker 5: tackle even maybe for twenty twenty six because he's in
- 1:38:31Speaker 5: a developmental year. I think Will Campbell's floor as a
- 1:38:34Speaker 5: player and his pro readiness is what got him drafted
- 1:38:39Speaker 5: in the top ten. You know, some of these other
- 1:38:41Speaker 5: guys might have more of you know, obviously length, you know, athleticism.
- 1:38:45Speaker 5: Will Campbell's athleticism is great, but the length is the
- 1:38:48Speaker 5: big one. The pro readiness is really what made him
- 1:38:51Speaker 5: appealing for most teams, and being pro ready at twenty
- 1:38:54Speaker 5: two years old too, which is not not common, So
- 1:38:59Speaker 5: I think that was all a part of it. He's
- 1:39:01Speaker 5: actually twenty one, I think when he was drafted.
- 1:39:03Speaker 9: So here's a fun one for us to debate. Since
- 1:39:06Speaker 9: it's the Kids Show and the Great White Snark, isn't
- 1:39:08Speaker 9: there to be the harpoon of fun? I figured i'd
- 1:39:11Speaker 9: ask the gang. Right, the first one's at dog of Sandwich.
- 1:39:14Speaker 9: We can we can debate that, But the better one,
- 1:39:15Speaker 9: I like more football related. If Fred and Paul were
- 1:39:18Speaker 9: opposing head coaches of equally talented teams, who would win
- 1:39:23Speaker 9: that game?
- 1:39:25Speaker 6: I'm giving that one to paula manager.
- 1:39:28Speaker 9: Really, yeah, I go with Fred. I would go with Fred,
- 1:39:33Speaker 9: Hurrah rack coach. He would know what buttons to push on.
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: Paul get Paul.
- 1:39:38Speaker 9: Paul probably into like yelling at the raff and get I.
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: Wasn't thinking of Fred also seems like one of those people.
- 1:39:43Speaker 9: And this was kind of like my college roommate who's
- 1:39:45Speaker 9: just like he's kind of like sneaky good at everything,
- 1:39:48Speaker 9: and you're like you can't quite like figure out why,
- 1:39:50Speaker 9: Like we play tennis, like how are you good at tennis?
- 1:39:52Speaker 9: Or we play like ping pong, and he's good at
- 1:39:54Speaker 9: ping pong like Fred. Well, that's probably bad example. I'm
- 1:39:57Speaker 9: talking about Fred, but I think he's generally good at
- 1:40:00Speaker 9: things like that.
- 1:40:01Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: I'm gonna go Freddy on that.
- 1:40:03Speaker 2: Fred's a really out of the box thinker, right.
- 1:40:06Speaker 5: The leadership is not one I didn't consider. I was
- 1:40:08Speaker 5: more thinking no offense football acimen.
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: I don't know if it came down to a class
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: I was.
- 1:40:16Speaker 5: I was given that to Polly, But now that I
- 1:40:18Speaker 5: think about it, Fred kind of leads a team here
- 1:40:21Speaker 5: and has.
- 1:40:22Speaker 9: Like would be like, you know, call heads, but then
- 1:40:24Speaker 9: when they flip, be like, no I called, It's like
- 1:40:26Speaker 9: just get some kind of controversy, be like.
- 1:40:29Speaker 7: You can't do that?
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: What's you doing? Good stuff? Good stuff. Let's uh head
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: back to the phones. Charles in Connecticut, Hey, Charles, think
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: you're calling in?
- 1:40:40Speaker 20: Hey, first time here.
- 1:40:42Speaker 5: We wanted to see who the.
- 1:40:45Speaker 21: Heck is covering tight ends this coming year.
- 1:40:47Speaker 18: Who's gonna cover them?
- 1:40:49Speaker 26: That's a good question, thank you. We talked about that
- 1:40:52Speaker 26: a little bit. Uh, yeah, I hope did they have
- 1:40:56Speaker 26: an issue with that? I guess that's what my question is.
- 1:41:01Speaker 26: It was an issue early on in the year, and
- 1:41:03Speaker 26: I guess you could say a J. Barner was an
- 1:41:05Speaker 26: issue in the Super Bowl.
- 1:41:06Speaker 5: I thought they kind of had figured that out though
- 1:41:08Speaker 5: as the course of the year, and you know, kind
- 1:41:10Speaker 5: of like we were just talking about with that email before,
- 1:41:14Speaker 5: I don't this is not one of It's not a
- 1:41:16Speaker 5: Belichick defense where you have like a Patrick Chung who's
- 1:41:19Speaker 5: like job it is to cover a tight end. They
- 1:41:21Speaker 5: kind of do it more by committee, and they probably
- 1:41:24Speaker 5: a lot more zone than those defenses did naturally. Anyways,
- 1:41:27Speaker 5: So I when you people ask me, like how who
- 1:41:30Speaker 5: covers tight ends, I'm kind of like, well, I don't know.
- 1:41:34Speaker 5: All the linebackers in safeties are going to have times
- 1:41:36Speaker 5: where they're going to be on a tight end, right,
- 1:41:38Speaker 5: So it's a little bit different than what it was before.
- 1:41:41Speaker 9: It's just one of those sons again, like going back
- 1:41:43Speaker 9: to the scheme of it all, Like I just I
- 1:41:44Speaker 9: don't know if you're like instead of a Robert Splene
- 1:41:48Speaker 9: type who you love shutting down the run, getting guys
- 1:41:51Speaker 9: in position doing that. You know, at a certain point,
- 1:41:53Speaker 9: like there aren't a lot of linebackers that can run
- 1:41:56Speaker 9: with tight ends down the seam and take that, you know,
- 1:41:58Speaker 9: like Fred Warner. You know there's there's some draft Fred Warner,
- 1:42:02Speaker 9: but you know, but they're but they're rare, and yeah,
- 1:42:05Speaker 9: like you said, you kind of have to. It's it's
- 1:42:07Speaker 9: almost like I look at when you pay the team,
- 1:42:09Speaker 9: like you're gonna have to choose some places. You're not
- 1:42:11Speaker 9: gonna give every position group top of the market dollars.
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: You're gonna have to skimp somewhere. You're gonna have to choose.
- 1:42:17Speaker 9: In our system, we're gonna pay a little bit less
- 1:42:19Speaker 9: to this spot or you know, not not to make
- 1:42:21Speaker 9: it about money, but just that's you're gonna try to
- 1:42:25Speaker 9: upgrade Spelink just because you want to make sure you
- 1:42:26Speaker 9: got a guy who can cover tight ends.
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: It seems really hard to me.
- 1:42:29Speaker 5: But I just feel like it's different, like with with
- 1:42:31Speaker 5: Belichick's defenses, they had specific roles.
- 1:42:35Speaker 6: You know, they of this guy, we used to.
- 1:42:37Speaker 5: Call him tight end stoppers, like guys like Chun Kyle Duggar.
- 1:42:40Speaker 5: Early on in his career. I think Mapu was drafted
- 1:42:43Speaker 5: to be one of those guys. It just didn't work out.
- 1:42:46Speaker 5: Like that was a specific role because they played so
- 1:42:48Speaker 5: much man coverage, so like you needed a player that
- 1:42:51Speaker 5: had the body type and the skill set to play
- 1:42:53Speaker 5: man to man against the tight end.
- 1:42:55Speaker 6: I don't think this defense kind of.
- 1:42:56Speaker 5: Like really treats it the same way or looks at
- 1:42:59Speaker 5: it the same way, So they kind of, I think,
- 1:43:01Speaker 5: want the back seven to all be able to cover
- 1:43:05Speaker 5: different types of people.
- 1:43:07Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:43:07Speaker 5: I think they probably have their safeties cover receivers a
- 1:43:10Speaker 5: little bit more than Belichick. Ever, did you know that
- 1:43:13Speaker 5: sort of thing too? So who covers tight ends? I
- 1:43:16Speaker 5: think everyone that plays in the middle of the field
- 1:43:18Speaker 5: is going to have to cover a tight end at
- 1:43:19Speaker 5: some point in time.
- 1:43:21Speaker 9: Paul from New Jersey's given us a deep pull on
- 1:43:24Speaker 9: a draft guy for Evan all Right, Key, he wants
- 1:43:26Speaker 9: to know if you've seen any takes on Keegan Trust,
- 1:43:30Speaker 9: the right tackle from Missouri. He did draft and right
- 1:43:32Speaker 9: tackle for Wake Forest before transferring, and he only allowed
- 1:43:35Speaker 9: one sack in four hundred and thirty two snaps.
- 1:43:38Speaker 6: Yeah, I think he's going to be a guard though.
- 1:43:40Speaker 5: But yes, I've seen a little bit of his of
- 1:43:43Speaker 5: his tape. He's on my list to dig into him
- 1:43:45Speaker 5: a little bit more before the draft, but most people
- 1:43:48Speaker 5: have him listed as an inside player.
- 1:43:50Speaker 6: I know that, so probably not going to stick a tackle.
- 1:43:54Speaker 9: All right, let's do it. We got a donut on
- 1:43:55Speaker 9: the line, Boston Cream. These are always fun. Hey, Boston Cream,
- 1:43:58Speaker 9: What you got for us?
- 1:44:00Speaker 14: Hey?
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: Guys?
- 1:44:01Speaker 21: With their New Balance partnership, does this mean it's an
- 1:44:03Speaker 21: end of.
- 1:44:04Speaker 20: An era for rob crafts Air Force ones?
- 1:44:07Speaker 21: And will we see any sort of clouds sold on?
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: But you're going to break that news, that's a good question.
- 1:44:14Speaker 9: I'm not sure, But I do know that this partnership
- 1:44:19Speaker 9: with New Balance is a pretty big deal.
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: They're putting the big.
- 1:44:22Speaker 9: Sign up on the side of the on the side
- 1:44:24Speaker 9: of the training facility. But I think how it all
- 1:44:26Speaker 9: plays out with the NFL's current deal with Nike seems
- 1:44:29Speaker 9: a little bit complicated.
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know what the status is
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: of the Air Force Ones. You got any Air Force
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: One's tease?
- 1:44:34Speaker 7: No Air Force one? Yeah, they had a pair back
- 1:44:36Speaker 7: in the day.
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: Black Air Force Ones. They're always sharp. I just I mean,
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: they're so uncomfortable.
- 1:44:43Speaker 10: I had no I have a pair for the my
- 1:44:45Speaker 10: cause I cause my teas and they're just like they're
- 1:44:48Speaker 10: awesome shoes, but they're just not that comfortable.
- 1:44:51Speaker 2: I haven't had Air Force one since like fourth grade.
- 1:44:53Speaker 6: Yeah, I had a couple of Air Force one.
- 1:44:55Speaker 7: I'm more of an Airmax nineties kind of guy.
- 1:44:57Speaker 2: I feel like, well, like you guys all get Nike.
- 1:45:01Speaker 5: We're all getting older, and I feel like we're was
- 1:45:04Speaker 5: like screw it and like now we're wearing air Maxes
- 1:45:07Speaker 5: or Metcons or whatever.
- 1:45:08Speaker 2: You know what are coming there? Nike shocks.
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: Oh yeah those aren't coming.
- 1:45:13Speaker 2: Yes they are, Yes they.
- 1:45:15Speaker 10: Are, but air Force they also used to be like
- 1:45:19Speaker 10: sixty bucks and now they're like one seventy, which is insane.
- 1:45:22Speaker 7: Just a blank white shoes for air forces.
- 1:45:25Speaker 6: Yeah, the iconic.
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: No, I was.
- 1:45:27Speaker 9: I was spoiled growing up with my dad al a Rebot,
- 1:45:29Speaker 9: Like it was just free shoes, and I you know,
- 1:45:31Speaker 9: I had the pumps. All the basketball players in high
- 1:45:33Speaker 9: school hated me because they're like why you have the
- 1:45:34Speaker 9: pumps and the well can you get me some?
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: And then you know there were people like pumping them.
- 1:45:38Speaker 10: Up before class like they had no bounce, It had no.
- 1:45:42Speaker 6: Like real to it, practical use, like they were just cool.
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: I had the pump skates too, like they had pump skates.
- 1:45:49Speaker 9: Then they had like the instat pump which like you
- 1:45:50Speaker 9: had to get a coo whatever.
- 1:45:52Speaker 24: Whatever you did with their Probably the worst pair of
- 1:45:56Speaker 24: Rebox slash best pair of Rebox I had though, was
- 1:45:58Speaker 24: a huge fan of the movie Aliens shout out Matt
- 1:46:01Speaker 24: morel eighty six, and Rebox was this official shoe of Aliens,
- 1:46:06Speaker 24: which is set in you know, hundreds of years in
- 1:46:08Speaker 24: the future.
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: They're still wearing They're still wearing Rebox.
- 1:46:11Speaker 9: You'll notice some select shots in that of you know,
- 1:46:13Speaker 9: when Ripley's like clicking into the machine and getting and
- 1:46:16Speaker 9: getting ready, you can see the Rebucks. But I had
- 1:46:18Speaker 9: a pair of the things, and they were you probably
- 1:46:20Speaker 9: google them. I mean they are still other giant bell
- 1:46:22Speaker 9: crow like space boots, and I had.
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: Them, and I love the movie, so I'm walking around
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: all cool.
- 1:46:28Speaker 7: Something.
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: Now I think they I think they took them back out.
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: I think they're back on sales.
- 1:46:32Speaker 12: I had Rebok basketball sneakers here like the zig Tax Rebox.
- 1:46:37Speaker 6: Moment basketball sneakers I had.
- 1:46:40Speaker 12: I had basketball It is still it's still.
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: Not right now.
- 1:46:44Speaker 9: I don't I have Nikes on right now, but no,
- 1:46:46Speaker 9: it is. It's much smaller now. I think Audi on them.
- 1:46:49Speaker 9: That is that when I when I entered the Rebuck
- 1:46:51Speaker 9: everyone called it Audi dos.
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: I think this like a europe thing.
- 1:46:53Speaker 7: The owner was Dostler.
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: Yeah, what are they talking about it?
- 1:46:58Speaker 9: But yeah, it was Rebox. I just feel like my
- 1:47:01Speaker 9: feet were formed in those some of there they.
- 1:47:03Speaker 2: Still based in Boston for their age.
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: I think they might be I think they might be
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: in the.
- 1:47:08Speaker 12: I think their CEO or some executive of Rebox lives
- 1:47:11Speaker 12: on one of the holes of the country club.
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: Fireman.
- 1:47:15Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:47:16Speaker 12: All I know is when we went there for the
- 1:47:17Speaker 12: US Open, we did like a practice round that I
- 1:47:21Speaker 12: finagled my way into with Hoyer and Cardona and we
- 1:47:24Speaker 12: did a practice round and our caddy was.
- 1:47:26Speaker 2: Just the coolest guy ever.
- 1:47:28Speaker 12: But he was like, Okay, that's the owner of Rebox
- 1:47:30Speaker 12: house through there on this whole.
- 1:47:31Speaker 2: That's Tom Brady's old house right through there. So we're
- 1:47:34Speaker 2: still with voculars.
- 1:47:36Speaker 9: The cool thing a Rebok when I worked there a
- 1:47:38Speaker 9: couple of summers is like in high school is everybody
- 1:47:40Speaker 9: had to have the the shack right now that we're
- 1:47:42Speaker 9: talking about I love.
- 1:47:44Speaker 12: Everyone that follows social media knows I'm a new balance.
- 1:47:48Speaker 2: We're like I love back.
- 1:47:50Speaker 6: In the day the Rebox.
- 1:47:52Speaker 5: I want to say, I think t Max were or Rebox,
- 1:47:57Speaker 5: those are big shack.
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: Everybody had to have the Shack shoes.
- 1:48:00Speaker 5: Yeah, I was never a shack shoe guy, but definitely
- 1:48:06Speaker 5: had a pair of T Max which I think we're reboking.
- 1:48:08Speaker 5: I think Alan his shoe and added his picture of
- 1:48:12Speaker 5: him like in the soles of the shoe, which I
- 1:48:14Speaker 5: thought were cool.
- 1:48:15Speaker 9: You know what, I just realized, I totally forgot this.
- 1:48:17Speaker 9: One summer I came back and they were doing like
- 1:48:19Speaker 9: a thing with Tracy McGrady in New York for the
- 1:48:22Speaker 9: Wants of his shoe, and I got to like go
- 1:48:24Speaker 9: with him and shoot like kind of behind the scenes video,
- 1:48:26Speaker 9: had lunch with Tracy McGrady.
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: I totally forgot about.
- 1:48:30Speaker 6: His shoe was like one of the forest.
- 1:48:39Speaker 5: His shoe, at least when I was growing up, was
- 1:48:42Speaker 5: the best shoot to actually play basketball in at the time,
- 1:48:46Speaker 5: so that that was a good shoe. I think, I
- 1:48:49Speaker 5: don't know what it is currently, but Kyrie actually had
- 1:48:51Speaker 5: the best shoot to move in for a while. But yeah,
- 1:48:55Speaker 5: the T Max were big when I was a kid,
- 1:48:58Speaker 5: had multiple pairs of those.
- 1:49:00Speaker 6: Those were the best, like actual basketball shoe.
- 1:49:02Speaker 9: Well that's what Alex shut out new Balance because I
- 1:49:04Speaker 9: know your new Balance throwing through like.
- 1:49:05Speaker 10: Yeah, new bounce outlet douce, do you have the dad shoe,
- 1:49:09Speaker 10: the New Balance dad shoe.
- 1:49:10Speaker 7: I feel like that's no.
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: I'm trying to avoid that tea.
- 1:49:13Speaker 2: You talk to like orthopedics.
- 1:49:15Speaker 12: I I feel like I've seen a TikTok or something before,
- 1:49:18Speaker 12: where like orthopedic surgeons are ranking the like popular shoes
- 1:49:23Speaker 12: these days.
- 1:49:23Speaker 2: New Balance always gets so much love from them.
- 1:49:26Speaker 12: I think it's like not to get into like the
- 1:49:29Speaker 12: mccollins ven diagram, but it's about like the wider toe
- 1:49:33Speaker 12: box and the way it's constructed around like the biomechanics
- 1:49:37Speaker 12: of your actual foot.
- 1:49:39Speaker 8: New Balance is the official shoe of the Marine Corps,
- 1:49:42Speaker 8: the shoes you wear in boot camp.
- 1:49:44Speaker 2: New Balance.
- 1:49:44Speaker 12: If you want to send me third pair of ninety sixties,
- 1:49:48Speaker 12: I would not be mad.
- 1:49:50Speaker 19: No.
- 1:49:50Speaker 9: I think that's what we're most curious about. We're going
- 1:49:52Speaker 9: to get some mender mind the Air Force once. How
- 1:49:54Speaker 9: about you know Patriots and one?
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: I have maybe blue ones.
- 1:49:59Speaker 12: I need a pay of like red, white and blue
- 1:50:01Speaker 12: Patriots once. I already shot your name from the rooftop.
- 1:50:05Speaker 2: Please might be clad.
- 1:50:06Speaker 9: Hey haven't been trying to work Jersney mikes for like
- 1:50:08Speaker 9: five years now.
- 1:50:10Speaker 5: Yeah, but we're directly the new balance is brunt, because
- 1:50:15Speaker 5: I really like my brunt boots, but they I would like,
- 1:50:18Speaker 5: like two different colors would be nice, so I can
- 1:50:19Speaker 5: like he's got to change it up with different exactly,
- 1:50:22Speaker 5: like just kind of not be wearing the same shoes
- 1:50:25Speaker 5: for like four months, you know.
- 1:50:27Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:50:27Speaker 9: The other day, Paul was describing like he sold something,
- 1:50:30Speaker 9: like he was go, his wife is gonna throw something
- 1:50:31Speaker 9: from the pool out and then I just throw on
- 1:50:33Speaker 9: Facebook Marketplace and she ended up selling it for ten bucks,
- 1:50:36Speaker 9: and he's telling us the story and then he ended
- 1:50:37Speaker 9: up like tipping a haircut guy ten bucks, and like
- 1:50:39Speaker 9: both Evan and I are like.
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: That's not even a jersey. Mikes.
- 1:50:41Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, everybody Mike. So he was so excited that
- 1:50:45Speaker 6: he sold something for ten dollars.
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: I was like, I know that's wrong value money or whatever?
- 1:50:52Speaker 2: Are you above Facebook Marketplace?
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: Not?
- 1:50:54Speaker 5: I mean, not if I'm gonna actually love face, if
- 1:50:56Speaker 5: I'm actually gonna make.
- 1:50:57Speaker 6: Some money off of it. No, but ten dollars, Like
- 1:51:00Speaker 6: I'm not going to get brag about that.
- 1:51:01Speaker 9: Somebody just comes to your house takes the piece of
- 1:51:03Speaker 9: crap you're going to throw out.
- 1:51:05Speaker 6: We've moved a million times.
- 1:51:07Speaker 12: I made a seating chart for my friend's wedding. It
- 1:51:10Speaker 12: was really cute. The base was like a flower box.
- 1:51:12Speaker 12: It said like love and bloom.
- 1:51:13Speaker 2: It was cute.
- 1:51:14Speaker 12: But so for like three hundred and fifty bucks. It
- 1:51:18Speaker 12: was like two hundred and fifty dollars of profit. And
- 1:51:21Speaker 12: then I'm lurking on there like, oh, these mid century
- 1:51:24Speaker 12: modern dining chairs are really cool.
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: So I start painting and standing stuff.
- 1:51:28Speaker 12: I'm like ready to start like a wedding sign of business,
- 1:51:31Speaker 12: because holy crap.
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: Money to be mere wedding.
- 1:51:36Speaker 2: The wedding industry, it is fraudulent. It's absurd. Yeah, it's absurd.
- 1:51:41Speaker 6: They they what's it called? They like charge more for
- 1:51:45Speaker 6: things like wedding taxis. Yeah, they like.
- 1:51:48Speaker 5: Simply just because they know it's for yeah, a wedding.
- 1:51:50Speaker 5: Like it's like the same thing they would do well
- 1:51:52Speaker 5: for any other normal You.
- 1:51:53Speaker 12: Could book hair and makeup for any random day, Like
- 1:51:56Speaker 12: I could book hair and makeup to get done like
- 1:51:58Speaker 12: before like draft night or something or like event.
- 1:52:00Speaker 2: It would be very reasonable.
- 1:52:02Speaker 12: If you mentioned it has anything to do with the wedding,
- 1:52:05Speaker 12: it's like times five times five.
- 1:52:08Speaker 9: If you have any weddings to my fallace this year
- 1:52:10Speaker 9: you getting any any speeches coming up here.
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: I'm a bridesmaid and seeing your joke like three different times.
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: But it's okay, you don't know that line.
- 1:52:19Speaker 12: I'm raising awareness so I can live with it. I'm
- 1:52:21Speaker 12: raising awareness about bad speeches.
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: Yeah, still in the you're still kind of in the
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: heart level I am.
- 1:52:25Speaker 12: And now I have like little cousins starting to go
- 1:52:28Speaker 12: in that wave too. So I have a cousin getting
- 1:52:29Speaker 12: married in September. That'll be low key.
- 1:52:31Speaker 2: And then one of my best friends is getting married
- 1:52:34Speaker 2: in October, first.
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: Summer and five years gotten on the wedding.
- 1:52:39Speaker 7: I got him next year for the summer.
- 1:52:41Speaker 2: I'm so excited for this one though. It's going to
- 1:52:42Speaker 2: be like a good group of girls.
- 1:52:44Speaker 12: Any divorces yet, no divorces yet, not a single one.
- 1:52:47Speaker 23: Not.
- 1:52:48Speaker 6: I tell you something.
- 1:52:50Speaker 9: The first one of your friends, first one of your
- 1:52:51Speaker 9: fends to get married, first one of your friends to
- 1:52:53Speaker 9: get divorced, first one of your friends to get divorced,
- 1:52:54Speaker 9: and have like a new girlfriend that you have to
- 1:52:56Speaker 9: now meet, you know, like, And.
- 1:52:57Speaker 13: Then about party I'm going and I still said, I
- 1:53:00Speaker 13: can't wait for that, But I like my friend's husbands.
- 1:53:03Speaker 2: They did pretty well.
- 1:53:04Speaker 5: So I remember that happened and started happening with my parents,
- 1:53:07Speaker 5: and like you know, they'd bring obviously their friends around
- 1:53:10Speaker 5: us and stuff like that, and then the friend would
- 1:53:12Speaker 5: have like a new girlfriend or boyfriend and it would
- 1:53:14Speaker 5: be like a whole new lease online.
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: But they've got kids now too.
- 1:53:18Speaker 6: Yeah, and I'd be like, this is so awkward, like
- 1:53:20Speaker 6: you're old and I need to see this.
- 1:53:24Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:53:24Speaker 12: I actually did have a divorce and it didn't last
- 1:53:26Speaker 12: a year, my cousin, but I forget about it because
- 1:53:29Speaker 12: I got on. It was like COVID. So I got
- 1:53:31Speaker 12: uninvited from the wedding because of COVID. It was like
- 1:53:34Speaker 12: my one of my best friends growing up, like wicked
- 1:53:36Speaker 12: close cousin. But yeah, so she already got remarried and
- 1:53:39Speaker 12: is about to pop out a kid.
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: Now, good, first she got back on, Get back on
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: the horse.
- 1:53:42Speaker 9: That one more football question for us, because this is
- 1:53:44Speaker 9: something I don't think really I've seen, talked about watching.
- 1:53:46Speaker 9: We talked about a tease you haven't and Evan, I
- 1:53:48Speaker 9: know you you have one trade up options, any.
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: Realistic prospects that would get you really excited. I got
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: a trade out.
- 1:53:54Speaker 10: I got to Sadik and uh, I can't pronounce the
- 1:53:56Speaker 10: last name of the safety who's not going to be there.
- 1:53:59Speaker 7: Yeah, that guy's beast.
- 1:54:00Speaker 6: Yeah he's going He's going top twenty easily.
- 1:54:04Speaker 11: Like that.
- 1:54:04Speaker 5: I think there's some teams that with him down. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:54:08Speaker 5: we're having that conversation. That's when you know, it's like,
- 1:54:10Speaker 5: let's get to the start doubting. Caleb Downs went from
- 1:54:14Speaker 5: the greatest safety prospect of all time to maybe the
- 1:54:16Speaker 5: second best safety in this class, right, you know, all
- 1:54:19Speaker 5: because of the stupid draft industrial accomplex.
- 1:54:22Speaker 6: I would agree with Sadik.
- 1:54:23Speaker 5: I think that that one if he if you start
- 1:54:26Speaker 5: to see him trickle twenty twenty one, twenty two, and
- 1:54:29Speaker 5: like then he's maybe start to pick up the phone
- 1:54:31Speaker 5: to see if you can leap frog and catch him.
- 1:54:35Speaker 6: I I have a.
- 1:54:36Speaker 5: Tough time with anybody else, though, I think Sadik is
- 1:54:39Speaker 5: probably number one, you know. I The one question with
- 1:54:42Speaker 5: this draft that I would love to ask Mike Rabel
- 1:54:45Speaker 5: if but he had to tell me the truth and
- 1:54:47Speaker 5: it would totally be off the record, is Jordan Tyson, Like,
- 1:54:50Speaker 5: how do you guys, are you totally out on Jordan Tyson?
- 1:54:53Speaker 6: Are you totally in on Jordan Tyson? That one I
- 1:54:56Speaker 6: I think.
- 1:54:57Speaker 5: You know, would be the other guy that if you
- 1:54:59Speaker 5: were to start the because of the injuries and stuff,
- 1:55:01Speaker 5: that maybe you take a chance on on you know,
- 1:55:04Speaker 5: the talent with a player like that. But I they
- 1:55:07Speaker 5: there's two players that I have no idea whether they're
- 1:55:09Speaker 5: in or out, and that's him and Zion Young. Like
- 1:55:12Speaker 5: two guys that have you know, Zion Young has the
- 1:55:14Speaker 5: off field stuff and Jordan Tyson has the injury history. Uh,
- 1:55:17Speaker 5: those are two guys I think a lot of Patriots
- 1:55:19Speaker 5: fans have talked about a lot have had in mock drafts,
- 1:55:23Speaker 5: especially with Zion Young. And there's a chance that Zion
- 1:55:25Speaker 5: Young is not even on their board, like because of
- 1:55:28Speaker 5: what you know has happened in his life.
- 1:55:30Speaker 6: So uh that that's a tough one.
- 1:55:32Speaker 10: Here's a question. So the drafts always surprises. Last year
- 1:55:35Speaker 10: was Sanders sliding. But I remember the Drake May year
- 1:55:38Speaker 10: where he's like, oh, Michael, Michael Pennix, like we can
- 1:55:40Speaker 10: get him in the second and then boom he's a
- 1:55:41Speaker 10: first round or like is there a chance to dee
- 1:55:43Speaker 10: goes like twelve?
- 1:55:45Speaker 6: Yes?
- 1:55:45Speaker 7: Yeah, I think like he's a surprise drop this year.
- 1:55:49Speaker 5: I think Kansas City's at nine, I want to say,
- 1:55:52Speaker 5: and I think that that's probably when it starts for
- 1:55:54Speaker 5: sidek is, you know, probably back into the top ten.
- 1:55:57Speaker 6: You know, low teens.
- 1:55:58Speaker 5: Tyler Warren was like fourteenth and Loveland win eleventh, I
- 1:56:03Speaker 5: want to say, so somewhere around there. So like as
- 1:56:06Speaker 5: the top tight end in the draft, I think you
- 1:56:08Speaker 5: could see that. You know, Loveland was a different type
- 1:56:12Speaker 5: of body type obviously, but you know, he didn't have
- 1:56:14Speaker 5: a ton of production either in college because of injuries,
- 1:56:16Speaker 5: and seek was actually probably a better college player than
- 1:56:19Speaker 5: Colson Loveland was. So you know, Colson Lovell went super high.
- 1:56:23Speaker 5: Who's the guy that could fall? Ruben Bain I think
- 1:56:25Speaker 5: is on that list. You know, short arms, you know,
- 1:56:29Speaker 5: kind of a tweeter. You know, some teams have him
- 1:56:32Speaker 5: as a three technique, some teams have him as an
- 1:56:33Speaker 5: edge rusher. So he's kind of like, you know, sort
- 1:56:37Speaker 5: of hard guy to put into a position, into a role.
- 1:56:41Speaker 6: So I think that those guys always get tricky and
- 1:56:45Speaker 6: could fall. You know.
- 1:56:48Speaker 5: I think a guy like Spencer Finot is interesting because
- 1:56:50Speaker 5: like some people think he's a center, some people think
- 1:56:53Speaker 5: he's a guard, some people think he's a tackle. So
- 1:56:55Speaker 5: another guy that has some weird positional things with him.
- 1:56:58Speaker 5: But if you had to, like say the one guy
- 1:57:00Speaker 5: who you know would have a fall, that would be
- 1:57:03Speaker 5: really like, you know, seismic in terms of the impact,
- 1:57:06Speaker 5: I would say Ruben Bain, he'll fall right to the Rams,
- 1:57:09Speaker 5: and the Rams will do the smart thing of drafting him,
- 1:57:11Speaker 5: and then they'll have Verse and Bay and yeah.
- 1:57:13Speaker 7: What do you what do you think about?
- 1:57:14Speaker 10: Like, on paper, to the casual fan, next year's draft
- 1:57:17Speaker 10: is a pretty enticing one. You got all these stars,
- 1:57:19Speaker 10: So do you think teams are gonna be worried about
- 1:57:21Speaker 10: trading those picks, like the twenty twenty seven picks.
- 1:57:24Speaker 5: I think teams are gonna be worried about trading the
- 1:57:26Speaker 5: twenty twenty seven picks. I think there could be a
- 1:57:30Speaker 5: lot of trades though, in the first round of this
- 1:57:32Speaker 5: draft because within this draft, yes, because it's not a
- 1:57:36Speaker 5: blue chipper draft. Yeah, So like there's not a whole
- 1:57:39Speaker 5: lot of blue chips in a draft like this, So
- 1:57:42Speaker 5: it's all gonna be about fit in type and you know,
- 1:57:45Speaker 5: skill sets and body types and all that different kind
- 1:57:47Speaker 5: of stuff.
- 1:57:48Speaker 6: So you might have a widely different board than another team.
- 1:57:52Speaker 5: Yeah, And I think that is going to be a cause,
- 1:57:55Speaker 5: could cause some chaos.
- 1:57:57Speaker 6: You know. I brought up Zion Young.
- 1:58:00Speaker 5: You know, obviously Ruben bains at the top, like Keldric Falk, like,
- 1:58:03Speaker 5: I have no idea. The consensus is all over the
- 1:58:06Speaker 5: place on a guy like that, you know, the corners,
- 1:58:09Speaker 5: Like I think that most people, uh, you know, feel
- 1:58:13Speaker 5: that delaying the guy from Melos is going to be
- 1:58:15Speaker 5: the number one corner, but some really like the kid
- 1:58:17Speaker 5: from Tennessee is the number one corner.
- 1:58:19Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:58:19Speaker 5: So it's just like there's not a whole lot of
- 1:58:21Speaker 5: consensus on a draft like this because it's not a
- 1:58:24Speaker 5: Blue Chipper draft. Drake May was that draft was the
- 1:58:26Speaker 5: blue Chipper draft. You had the quarterbacks, you had neighbors,
- 1:58:29Speaker 5: you have Marvin Harrison Junior, you had Joe Alt Like
- 1:58:31Speaker 5: that was like these all guy guys are all studs.
- 1:58:34Speaker 5: This is a lot different than that.
- 1:58:36Speaker 9: Quick last one Georgia Maryland. And he loved for Sante
- 1:58:39Speaker 9: Samuel getting into the Pictures Hall of Fame.
- 1:58:42Speaker 5: I mean for me, yes, but for people and fred
- 1:58:46Speaker 5: I would imagine no, but I'm I don't discussing corner, no, no,
- 1:58:51Speaker 5: he said, God though, you know, drive on the ball
- 1:58:53Speaker 5: better than anybody. But I think that you know, he's
- 1:58:56Speaker 5: one of those guys that was probably more flashed than
- 1:58:59Speaker 5: substance to a lot of people, like a lot of
- 1:59:01Speaker 5: gaudy interception numbers.
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: But you can put him in Bill In in the
- 1:59:05Speaker 1: same year and let that.
- 1:59:08Speaker 2: Share the stage.
- 1:59:09Speaker 9: That guy took his basically this whole last couple years
- 1:59:11Speaker 9: taken shots to Bill about check.
- 1:59:12Speaker 1: But anyway, that's gonna wrap it up for us. But hey, first,
