- 0:00I was broke. So you spend a lot of time
- 0:01studying. That's why money can't buy style
- 0:04because if you have money, you're not sitting there in your
- 0:05free time studying because you have time, you don't have money.
- 0:08So you spend your time studying, developing your style.
- 0:11And that's why the best cars come from the brokest people.
- 0:13Al you have to dress for the job that you want, not for that job
- 0:19that you have. That's why I like now in my
- 0:21drivers meetings, if there's cars that pull up, like I
- 0:23literally tell media, don't take pictures of the cars.
- 0:26I will pay you not to take pictures of the cars that show
- 0:29up. What's going on, everybody?
- 0:31Welcome back to the After Hours podcast.
- 0:35This is episode #3 from our Texas series.
- 0:39We took a trip down to Houston, meet Eddie and Carl, and got to
- 0:42do podcasts with a bunch of people that we've been meaning
- 0:44to. And Jimmy Yates was one of the
- 0:47ones that we wanted to do for like the last three years, ever
- 0:50since we started this podcast. So getting down to sit with him
- 0:53at his garage, seeing his cars, hanging out with a bunch of
- 0:57people. Damon was there.
- 0:58Camry on bronze. You know, we met a lot of
- 1:01different people as well. We also met Harris Lynch, his
- 1:05teammate from Team Essence. And Harris was actually in the
- 1:08background during this whole podcast.
- 1:09Kind of weird. You're probably going to be
- 1:11like, who is in the back eating a cinnamon roll?
- 1:14But yeah, Harris was there, probably the best live audience
- 1:17we've had in a long time. So Jimmy runs Knuckle Up down
- 1:21there in Texas. It's a drift organization
- 1:23basically focusing on styled cars, clean drifting, stuff like
- 1:28that. Check them out.
- 1:30Knuckle Up Texas. Pretty much if you if your car
- 1:34is up to the standard of that organization, then you can drift
- 1:37there. And some people would call this
- 1:40gatekeeping it. That's probably because it is
- 1:45gatekeeping. But I think it's for the right
- 1:49reasons. And you guys will find out
- 1:50during this podcast why it's set up like that.
- 1:54Jimmy is one of the reasons. Houston, TX drift culture is so
- 1:59stylized right now. All the cars are looking really,
- 2:02really good coming out of that area.
- 2:04So he is pretty much the reason, not just he, he didn't say that
- 2:08himself. Other people have told us that
- 2:11he is the reason why everything's going on down there
- 2:13right now. So really wanted to do this
- 2:15podcast and find out what, you know, the secret recipe was for
- 2:19what's going on in Houston right now.
- 2:23There's a lot I can say about Jimmy.
- 2:26There's a lot of beautiful things I can say about Jimmy.
- 2:28There might be some bad things I can say about Jimmy, but I'll
- 2:31tell you one thing, he's a good dude.
- 2:38I'll let you all figure out the rest 01 more thing.

- 3:59Welcome everybody to the Faction After Hours podcast.
- 4:01We're here to bring another episode.
- 4:03We've been rifling through these, but now we have Jimmy
- 4:07Yates, the world renowned Jimmy Yates, everybody.
- 4:09There we go. Oh.
- 4:11Wait. That was the live crowd, man.
- 4:13What is? That.
- 4:14Come on. Thanks guys.
- 4:18Dude, thank you so much for that.
- 4:19Yeah, no problem. Opening your doors and spending
- 4:21some time with us here just because.
- 4:23Yeah, this one's a long time coming.
- 4:24So I appreciate you guys coming down.
- 4:25Yeah, dude, like, OK. How did you bring drifting to
- 4:31Texas? Yeah.
- 4:31Can we just start with this? I did not bring drifting to.
- 4:34Texas, we know you didn't bring it, but we know you brought
- 4:36something. All right, so how deep do you
- 4:41want to? Go pretty deep.
- 4:43Like, OK, all right, so origin story.
- 4:46So I had a 350Z at the time, and at the time I had a Grady
- 4:51exhaust on it, like the big Grady Evo 2.
- 4:55Yeah, yeah, yeah. So it's like dual canister, you
- 4:57know, And at the time I was on my 350Z forum with Harris and
- 5:02the group of guys that we were like chatting with, they're all
- 5:05track guys. And so I wasn't really into
- 5:08drifting. I love drifting, but I was like,
- 5:10dude, I'm in college. I'll wreck my shit.
- 5:12This is my only car that I have. I can't do it, but I would I
- 5:15still want to do something Motorsports.
- 5:17So I was like, oh, we'll do a track day.
- 5:18So the guys are like, all right, you know, like, you know, weight
- 5:22saving stuff like that and you know, whatever.
- 5:24So I was like, all right, well, let me get rid of this greedy
- 5:27exhaust. And I wanted a single, but I was
- 5:30very particular. I didn't want like a single
- 5:32exhaust that was like cocked like everything else.
- 5:35But JSE magic made the their Titan exhaust or whatever that
- 5:39came straight out. So it was like an old like S30Z
- 5:43where it was like straight exhaust out.
- 5:44It was like perfect. It was the only one for 350Z at
- 5:46the time. That what?
- 5:47Year was this about? This was 20/10/2011.
- 5:54I started drifting late. Like I didn't start drifting
- 5:56until. Like I started drifting.
- 5:58How old were you when it was late?
- 6:002021 because I, I didn't do it in high school.
- 6:04I still had my ZI had my Z since I was like 17, but I never like
- 6:09all right, we'll back up even more.
- 6:12My ZI got arrested and went to jail because I went street
- 6:15racing in my Z and they, they made an example out of me and
- 6:19booked me, impounded my car and was trying to charge me for
- 6:24felony like evading the cops and racing stuff like that.
- 6:28And so that that happened the night I had won district for
- 6:33tennis in high school. And so like it was the first
- 6:35time we'd won district in like 10 years.
- 6:38I was like team captain, like I brought the school back.
- 6:40It was a super cool like moment for everybody.
- 6:42So that night like, oh, let's just go out and like people were
- 6:44like, hey, let's just go like go the drag, the street racing spot
- 6:47that we all go to because I grew up in West TX.
- 6:49So it was all like drag race stuff and I had the Z and I was
- 6:52like yeah, I'll go hang out or whatever.
- 6:53And my buddy like called me out like yeah fuck it, let's just
- 6:55run 1 real quick. So we ran one and the sheriff
- 6:58jumped out of the fucking field behind me in the truck and we
- 7:01just ran it and they pulled me over, booked me, all that other
- 7:03stuff. So after that I was fucked
- 7:05because I was on probation and the deal was that if I stayed
- 7:08out of trouble until I turned 21 in my record be wiped.
- 7:11So I was like, OK, fine, I'm clean, whatever.
- 7:14So after that I didn't want to St. drift.
- 7:15I don't St. drift like I'm I'm not the one any of that shit.
- 7:18So I was trying not to do anything in trouble or whatever.
- 7:20So that kind of like kept me away from drifting.
- 7:22So in college I got into the 350Z stuff, wanted to track my
- 7:26car because I was like, OK, you know, I can probably do like a
- 7:28track event every once in a while.
- 7:30So anyways, I had this evo exhaust for the Grady, but I
- 7:33wanted to lighten up my car so I was getting rid of it.
- 7:35So I posted it and I was like, Hey, does anybody have anything
- 7:37to for trade? And Justin Rogers at the time
- 7:41also had a 350Z. So Justin Rogers essence garage.
- 7:44He had the red Coqui S14 that was like Sylvia, one of the most
- 7:51one of the more popular cars on Sylvia back in the day.
- 7:53It was it was on the like the bronze battles and stuff like
- 7:59that. There's a really famous picture
- 8:00from back in the day of him downtown Houston.
- 8:02It's like on the street, like super clean.
- 8:05So Justin had crashed that car, sold it, got a 350Z and he was
- 8:09drifting his 350Z at the time. So he had he had post me up.
- 8:13He's like, oh, I'll trade you my JSC for the Gretty.
- 8:15I was like, all right, cool. So that's.
- 8:16Where you wanted anyway. Yeah.
- 8:18So it was like perfect worked out.
- 8:19Yeah, it was perfect. So I drove downtown.
- 8:22I was going to school probably, right.
- 8:25It's probably like 30 minutes outside of Houston.
- 8:28And he was all the way, like closer to Galveston.
- 8:30So I drove all the way down there like on a Saturday morning
- 8:33and we're going to trade exhaust.
- 8:34So we jacked both cars up, we're trading exhaust, doing all that
- 8:36stuff. And by the time it was done, it
- 8:38was like 4 or 5:00 in the afternoon.
- 8:39It was like 8 hours of swapping these fucking exhausts and like.
- 8:42Using an adjustable wrench and like a hammer.
- 8:45Yeah, dude. Absolutely.
- 8:46It took fucking forever. Like hours.
- 8:48For a cat back is. Well, no, yeah, it was like
- 8:50fucking forever. Like I don't know why it took us
- 8:52forever. We were just fucking around and
- 8:54stuff like that. But anyway, by the time, yeah,
- 8:56but by the time I finished, you know, we chit chatted.
- 8:59I'd never met him. And I was like, yeah, I like,
- 9:01you know, drifting. I knew.
- 9:02I knew some stuff, like some shit that we used to download
- 9:05off of like Limewire, like whatever back in the day.
- 9:08Videos. Yeah, videos and stuff like
- 9:09that. Like I was like all about it,
- 9:11but like just wasn't, didn't have the confidence to go do it.
- 9:15And these dudes were like, dude, yeah, you can go drifting like
- 9:18you won't crash. Like we drift parking lots, like
- 9:19it's no big deal, like yadda, yadda, yadda.
- 9:21So I was like, OK, cool, so let me let me give it a try.
- 9:25So we that that day they're like, hey, you want to, you
- 9:29know, just hang out before you drive all the way back to
- 9:31school. I was like, yeah, cool.
- 9:32So like we were just hanging out at Justin's apartment and like
- 9:34watching Dora 10 and shit like that.
- 9:36I was like, oh fuck, this is cool.
- 9:37Like really started to deep dive into things and I was like, all
- 9:42right, cool. So I kind of just like threw
- 9:44some rack spacers on my car, some tie rods and just kind of
- 9:47kept the same thing. The car had like a VLSD in it.
- 9:50I already had like RPF ones on it because it was like, still
- 9:53like, I want to do tracks. So those wheels kind of work and
- 9:56yeah, I started going to Lone Star Drift stuff like back then
- 10:00and started drifting. And so then I started hanging
- 10:04out with Essence Garage guys and like just kind of like they were
- 10:06already kind of into the whole Japanese drift.
- 10:08So they were already a a thing. Yeah, absolutely.
- 10:11Yeah. So they had started years
- 10:13before, like probably Kev. I think Kev knows the actual
- 10:19date, but probably like 2007, 2008, that's whenever Essence
- 10:23Garage started. And so I came in probably 2011
- 10:29or so. And so I was like, they like
- 10:32brought me in and like we started drifting and stuff like
- 10:34that. And that was like blog era.
- 10:36So like I was like super new and super excited.
- 10:38So I wanted to start doing the blog.
- 10:41So I took over the Essence blog and posting on that.
- 10:43I had my own blog at the time and all that stuff, so that's
- 10:47kind of. What is Essence Garage for the
- 10:49people who don't know like me? Like for me, I thought essence
- 10:51was literally just the ones that I see the the ones that I knew
- 10:56or what have you. What is Essence?
- 10:58So Essence, so Essence, it started off as Essence Garage
- 11:01and it was three members, Justin, Emron and Andrew and
- 11:06those guys, they kind of just all were like very similar, like
- 11:10minded, like Japanese. They like the, like the cool
- 11:12shit that we all like, right? And they didn't really have a
- 11:17A-Team name, but they went to an event one time and there was a
- 11:19car that they all liked. And one of them was like, dude,
- 11:21that car just has the essence and they're like, Ding, that's a
- 11:24sick name. So like, boom, that was team
- 11:27Essence, right? And Essence Garage, because at
- 11:31the time they had a, they had a shop, they were, they were all
- 11:33using their shop. So they had Essence Garage.
- 11:36So Essence Garage, they were building their cars out of it
- 11:38and stuff like that. And then I came in, I was like
- 11:41the 4th member. And then kind of over time those
- 11:44guys got older and kind of just got out of it.
- 11:46And then I just, I just kept running with it.
- 11:48And I've kind of been doing it for a long time.
- 11:50Did they got out out or? Yeah, so Justin had AZ and then
- 11:56sold the Z and went back to an S14.
- 11:58He's always been known for S14. He bought like a Navan S14 with
- 12:02like AS15-SR in it. It was like super fucking clean
- 12:05car had that was Zinke converted to Cokie like D Max type 3 like
- 12:12we like essence has always loved MCR factory like Yokoi's car
- 12:17like D Max type 3S14 zombie thing like LMGT 4's that that's
- 12:24like the. Tracky era.
- 12:26The D1 SL like that's that's drifting like that's what we
- 12:29love. And then Andrew, Andrew had the
- 12:33BNL Tesla IS300, right? So Andrew was like the first
- 12:37person in the United States with BN.
- 12:40He's actually the reason why. What's the copy?
- 12:45Durflex has BN for Altezza. Yeah, yeah.
- 12:48Like if it wasn't for Andrew, no one would they.
- 12:51He sold his kit and the guy got a hold of it and copied it.
- 12:56So Andrew's the reason why everyone has BN Altezza IS300
- 13:00because he imported it like 15 years ago and he got it.
- 13:04He sold it because at one point we're on a big kick of OEM plus,
- 13:09so we did like OEM whip kit sold his BN.
- 13:11We did like R3 threes like all kinds of shit like that.
- 13:13So anyway, that's side note so y'all can thank him on that.
- 13:17But and then Emron had like a one JS 14 and then he had like
- 13:24sold that and got like a Nismo 350Z, which was like pretty
- 13:29crazy. It was like a track car.
- 13:30Yeah. That was.
- 13:31Just like, and like this was 2011, 2012, 2013.
- 13:35So it was like 4 or five years after the Nismo had just like
- 13:38finished coming out, excuse me. And he drifted that a little bit
- 13:44and then after that he started family and stuff like that.
- 13:47So he's out. Justin, whenever he built his
- 13:50white S14, he was getting it tuned and it rod knocked and he
- 13:55was just kind of like was fed up with it.
- 13:58So he he got that. He got out of South Fourteens,
- 14:00he got A-5550 Mustang and then just started like, yeah, that's
- 14:06total right. Well, he tried to do an FRS and
- 14:08like that was right whenever they first came out and he was
- 14:11just getting like kind of haggled by dealerships because
- 14:14they were new and they weren't like they were trying to do
- 14:15markup and shit like that. And he not really, so I didn't.
- 14:18Even know they did that for the yeah it.
- 14:20Was like really hard to get 1. And I think because we went to a
- 14:23Twitter dealership together, he test drove 1.
- 14:25He was like kind of, he was already kind of buying parts for
- 14:27them. And then I guess he just kind of
- 14:30was like, you know, like for the same money I could probably get
- 14:32like an S550. So we got like a EcoBoost 550
- 14:37and then like was going to drift that and like put a bigger turbo
- 14:39on it and like whatever started having issues.
- 14:42And then he went through this whole thing of like selling that
- 14:45one, getting AV81 like AGT and then doing like a crazy NA
- 14:49build. Made like 500 horsepower NA.
- 14:51And then he got rid of that and got or got rid of the NA stuff
- 14:54and did like twin turbos and made like 1000 horsepower.
- 14:58And then he got sold that car and then he did like a Camaro s
- 15:00S and this is a. Wild.
- 15:02Sperm. It's crazy like.
- 15:03Completely what is happening? Right now, yeah.
- 15:06And then and then he did like a Camaro that did like crazy
- 15:09horsepower and then got rid of that and then he's like hasn't
- 15:12bought a car since kind of thing like that like that was kind of
- 15:14like. And so.
- 15:16The two like original guys. Yeah, kind of.
- 15:18So Andrew still has his car, Like his car, his car is still
- 15:22being, it's on Minervas. It still has the B in livery.
- 15:25Like it's just tucked away, just collecting dust.
- 15:27It's it's sick. It's a relic now.
- 15:28It's kind of like a sick thing because now maybe years or
- 15:31whenever that happens, that is going to get uncovered and like
- 15:35awoken and then it's literally a time.
- 15:37Yeah, he'll drift like once every, like I would say every
- 15:40once a year now, but usually it's like two or three times,
- 15:42like once every two and three years or something like that.
- 15:44But he still has his car. Enron sold all his shit off.
- 15:49He has a family and kids and stuff like that business owner.
- 15:51So he's kind of just out of it. So yeah, I'm kind of like the
- 15:54last. I'm not, I don't consider myself
- 15:57like first Gen. essence. I'm more like second Gen.
- 16:00But like, yeah, I'm the one that's the one that keeping it
- 16:04going. Yeah, yeah.
- 16:05So that's kind of how that all began.
- 16:07And I've just been doing that ever since.
- 16:09But yeah. And who is it from?
- 16:10From SO. Now it's it's me, Kevin, Jacob
- 16:13and Harris. OK, so and that's the, that's
- 16:16the starting 4. Was it always an S13 right from
- 16:19the RIP once you were? In essence, no.
- 16:20Well, yeah, because we we. Oh wait, no, R32 R 30.
- 16:24Two well, actually I had an S13 before that I built a like a
- 16:27Cokie 180 like oh, OK, Type X car, yeah.
- 16:31That was after the Z. That was after yeah.
- 16:32So I have the Z and OK so my S13 story.
- 16:38Why did you just hit a little smirk right?
- 16:40Because so that's 13 story growing up there, we ride our
- 16:45bikes in the cul de sacs, alleyways, all that shit.
- 16:48And one time looking into a garage, I saw this S13.
- 16:51I was like, holy fuck, what is that?
- 16:53I was like, this is cool. And so this was probably, I was
- 16:56probably 1012 somewhere around there.
- 17:00And so I was like, dude, this car's sick, this car's sick,
- 17:02whatever. So when I started to get 16 to
- 17:05get a driver's license, I went to the neighbors like, hey, you
- 17:07know, because they lived a couple of streets down.
- 17:09I was like, hey, is that car for sale?
- 17:11I want to buy it. Like, no, it's our son's don't
- 17:14want to buy it. Da, da, da, da, da.
- 17:15I was all right, cool. So then I went to college and go
- 17:18get an internship during the summer.
- 17:19And every summer I'd come back and I'd go with the neighbor,
- 17:21like hey, because I'd have some money.
- 17:23Hey, is that car? For sale yet car for sale yet no
- 17:25no son or whatever yeah so after I graduated college, I think it
- 17:30was after I graduated college I visit home right I was like dude
- 17:35let's go let's go see about that car so.
- 17:37Ding Ding, Ding. Hey, Mr. Cooper.
- 17:39Hey, I remember you. Was it yesterday?
- 17:41Hey, you ready? You ready to sell that car?
- 17:42Let me talk to my son. This is the first.
- 17:44I was like, all right, cool. He's like I'll.
- 17:47Let you know tomorrow. That's right.
- 17:48So. After you had AZ already.
- 17:50Yeah, I already had the Z, Yeah. And I was already like drifting
- 17:52the Z, So I was like, all right, like Z is cool, but like it, it
- 17:55doesn't scratch the. It's like I need, I need like
- 17:57S13. I need like some Japanese shit.
- 17:59You had the influence already. Yeah, I order like because, All
- 18:03right, so side note, I was broke.
- 18:06So you spent a lot of time studying.
- 18:08That's why money can't buy style, because if you have
- 18:10money, you're not sitting there in your free time studying.
- 18:13You're right about that. You're not.
- 18:14Right. You're right about that So.
- 18:16You're not. You don't have money.
- 18:17You have time, so you spend your time studying and you're
- 18:19developing a style. If you have money you can just
- 18:21buy whatever. The fuck you want?
- 18:23And you fuck it off, right? So money cannot buy style.
- 18:26And This is why. Because you have time, you don't
- 18:27have money. So you spend your time studying,
- 18:29developing your style. And that's why the best cars
- 18:32come for the brokest people. Ow ow.
- 18:36That's a real. It is so anyways.
- 18:39That's the nicest way I've ever heard that point.
- 18:41That's how it goes. So the car I I'd studied, I was
- 18:45like, all right, this is what I want.
- 18:46I want. I lived on Sylvia Cokie 180
- 18:49thread. Yeah, me too.
- 18:50That's what I fucking wanted. I wanted all the OEM arrow, all
- 18:53that. Shit all dude.
- 18:54Literally all the people. That we need a single one of you
- 18:56guys are birth from the same. We're literally birth from the
- 18:59same thing. So that like that, that's what I
- 19:01fucking wanted. I wanted Cokie Arrow TE SR30
- 19:04Threes Sr. That's what I wanted.
- 19:07So my internship, I had one. I made really good money on an
- 19:11internship and I was like, all right, I got some money like I
- 19:13can buy this thing. So I go ask him.
- 19:15He's going let me go ask my son come back tomorrow.
- 19:16I was like all right, cool. So I come back the next morning.
- 19:18All right, if you just push it out of the garage's chores, I
- 19:21was like done 91 SE, so like all electric stuff, sunroof, manual,
- 19:28dual Cam everything free white, my favorite fucking like white.
- 19:32So that's what we did, flat tires, everything.
- 19:35We pushed it. I pushed it down the fucking
- 19:37block by myself like 3 streets out of the garage, down the
- 19:40alley, down the street into my parents driveway.
- 19:43Boom. We like try to fix it, whatever
- 19:45got it so. That is.
- 19:49Yeah, that is my first S 13 was free.
- 19:51It was. It was mint, dude.
- 19:52Fucking mint. And it was at a time when people
- 19:56kind of knew that there was money, but not completely.
- 19:58No, this was probably. 20/13/2014.
- 20:03That was like right when people were starting to catch on.
- 20:05Yeah, so got that and then I think at that point I was I had
- 20:11the car stored at my parents and then I was just like collecting
- 20:15stuff. So I like got like my our best
- 20:18friend Lou. Lou went to lives in Dallas and
- 20:22I found some dude on Craigslist had Cokie side skirts.
- 20:24He picked them up 200 bucks brought them to me in West TX to
- 20:27my parents house, slapped those on.
- 20:30I was in Atlanta. I so if I I bought this Cokie
- 20:33front bumper for like 200 bucks in Atlanta because I was living
- 20:36in Alabama, I think. So this was I probably had the
- 20:39car for a year now and it was at my parents and I was like
- 20:42collecting parts and got like Cokie front bumper like 200
- 20:47bucks in Atlanta. I did like a fiberglass front
- 20:49lip because I couldn't find like a a real 1.
- 20:53I think on Zilvia. I got like the rear spats.
- 20:57I think the same dude that had the side skirts had the wing so
- 20:59I got the wing. So boom, kit done done right.
- 21:03I bought like a bride Zeta 2 and of.
- 21:06Course you got a build thread on Sylvia.
- 21:07Yeah, it's all there Yeah, it's still on my blog and stuff like
- 21:09that. So the timeline you probably way
- 21:11more accurate on that thing. But yeah, I like built the
- 21:13fucking just cookie 180 car coilovers like stance coilovers.
- 21:17Well fine battle version arms like very Sylvia like you know
- 21:23Yeah. So that was the first car and I
- 21:26bought ASR for it, swapped it, drove like two or three events
- 21:31and then rod knocked it and I'm a spreadsheet guy.
- 21:34So like I kept spreadsheets of everything and at that point, so
- 21:39this was probably 262014 2015 2016.
- 21:43So 25 year old started rolling in.
- 21:46So S thirteens were available, R30 twos and stuff like that.
- 21:49So I was like, and I was seeing how cheap these cars were going.
- 21:51I sell how much money I had already dumped into the S13.
- 21:55Because the spreadsheet. Spreadsheet I was like, wait, I
- 21:58could part this bitch out right now and import a car and pocket
- 22:00money in my like pocket money. So I was like, all right, we had
- 22:05a friend. Anthony Pitino, D ROM has a JZX.
- 22:10Oh yeah. 90 right, Yeah. So Logan's, Logan's teammate,
- 22:13right? So me and Pitino have been
- 22:15driving together forever, but he always had this 90 it's JZX 90.
- 22:19It was not legal whatever, but it was like dude, I want a sedan
- 22:22like drift car it's so cool. But I was a Nissan fanboy so I
- 22:25couldn't get I didn't want a JZX.
- 22:27So skyline 32 was like my only option and I was like all right,
- 22:31cool like ABBA moon, super fucking cool BN I love BN.
- 22:36So I was like all right. So I parted out my S13 after the
- 22:39rod knocked motor I parted it all out and then I imported the
- 22:42skyline. I think I got the skyline for
- 22:44like 8 grand imported landed everything and I think I parted
- 22:47out the S13 for like 15 K so I pocket 7 grand and the fucking
- 22:54R32 showed up and it was like 2 ALSD coil overs.
- 23:00It had like some arms in the rear, had a bucket seat, some
- 23:02gauges. Were you just like, because this
- 23:05is kind of a weird thing because you were pretty obsessed Cokie
- 23:08arrow thread this and that that's the car you saw when you
- 23:10were a kid this and then all of a sudden you're like, yeah, I'm
- 23:13spend a lot of money on this. Let me go to a skyline.
- 23:16Yeah. Was that kind of?
- 23:17It was, it was more of like a business thing.
- 23:19Yeah, it sounds that way. Yeah, 100% because I'm like.
- 23:22Wait, dude, I could. I could fucking part this bitch
- 23:24out and literally get a car that's super fucking cool and
- 23:29pocket a bunch of money. Like motherfuck, not so that's
- 23:32what I did. Part of that shit out got
- 23:34because I I always I'm always one that like I want to do stuff
- 23:37that no one else does kind of thing, you know, or like my wife
- 23:42always gives me shit about it, but like she always has to make
- 23:44me. She always thinks she has to
- 23:45convince me it's my idea to do. Something.
- 23:47Yeah, Yeah. You know, right.
- 23:48Yeah, so. That's a smart lady, man.
- 23:50She's. That is, she knows you.
- 23:52She knows. Me really knows.
- 23:53You. Yeah, 17 years deep right now,
- 23:55so she knows me. So yeah.
- 23:57Anyways, it was like, yeah, like I have to and get this 32
- 24:02because no one else has one. It'll be cool.
- 24:04I'll make it sick, like DN, whatever.
- 24:06It was black, whatever. And I had like a checklist.
- 24:08I was like, all right, I want a black one.
- 24:11It has to be sedan. And now you're veering away from
- 24:14the OEM stuff. Is this your first?
- 24:16Like I'm going to make a boy car, right?
- 24:19Now, yeah, I wanted like that big shit because like, for me,
- 24:23like, I love being being cool. That's just, I love being.
- 24:27But I love fucking Cookie 180, yeah.
- 24:30That's. Dude, nothing is better than no
- 24:32half. He wasn't smiling when he said
- 24:34the first part, by the way. No, but we literally just talked
- 24:37about this with Kevin. We were like just talking about
- 24:40how it's weird how we're all in the same thread.
- 24:42Yeah, but we all like VN sports era too.
- 24:45Yeah, It's like we took a little piece of that thread.
- 24:47The spectrum like I love 180, like Cokie Arrow.
- 24:50Yeah. And the fucking other spectrum
- 24:52being, yeah, there's no in between.
- 24:54Like big body kid break. Only the only other middle thing
- 24:57is D Max Tech 3. Yeah.
- 25:00I think that's like maybe that's what it is.
- 25:02Maybe it's like OE arrow like I love TRD IS300.
- 25:07I think that's a sick kit, like seventeens like.
- 25:11Very. Do you mean like the Altezza?
- 25:12One yeah, the Altezza TRD kit, the lip kit.
- 25:14I think that's that's fucking perfect on those cars because it
- 25:17reminds me of like a Corolla esque kind of thing, right.
- 25:20It's like simple low maintenance, but like it looks
- 25:21cool like Cokie 180 like that's like Nissan nailed it.
- 25:26D Max type 3. I think that's like the perfect
- 25:28mid range aero kit, you know, like it scratches that.
- 25:32Like I want to be professional but like I'm still just
- 25:36grassroots, like just getting by, you know, kind of thing like
- 25:40that and beings like I'm letting my nuts hang, you know.
- 25:44Like. That's.
- 25:44Just how it goes. That is the I was against the
- 25:47whole being not against it, but in my mind I was like, I can't
- 25:51drive with all that on my car. I'm going to blow it up in New
- 25:54Jersey on a fucking. Second yeah, 100.
- 25:55Percent. That is the point and.
- 25:57Yeah, that's the whole fucking point.
- 25:58Nothing makes your Dick bigger than be like I got this shit.
- 26:02It looks fucking meant the first lap.
- 26:03I'm blowing that bitch. Up like literally the rear
- 26:05bumper there just like that's the best part of the car dude.
- 26:07The whole, the whole other side's blown off because someone
- 26:09hit me. You a fuck.
- 26:10I'll swipe again, buy it, fix it, go.
- 26:12In the in the podcast studio, I'm only looking at Frankie's
- 26:16car on the whole fucking wall. We brought this up the other
- 26:18day. It's like a shrine.
- 26:19Yeah. And the entire time I was like,
- 26:21if I try to drive with Frankie and my car isn't that low on the
- 26:24ground, it's gonna look retarded.
- 26:25Yeah, you have to be pretty low with BNBN is not like right
- 26:29away. Yeah, which is funny because it
- 26:30was probably designed to do the opposite, but you know, it just
- 26:34looks good when it's low. Right.
- 26:35Yeah no like even this car like I've noticed whenever I bought
- 26:39the BN fenders, the radius on the front fenders is higher than
- 26:42the radius on the rear, so you can actually run the car kind of
- 26:46high that's why the gap is like that so you have clearance yeah
- 26:51yeah yeah it's really weird cuz I was like dude why the fuck in
- 26:53the front of my car so high it's because the radius of the
- 26:55fenders and I think they changed the design they.
- 26:57Probably did, yeah. I mean.
- 27:00Yeah, but it is what it is. But but yeah, like that's just
- 27:03how it is. I don't know that's.
- 27:04It's just so. It's just so weird.
- 27:06I, like some of us, are in the same exact mindset.
- 27:09Yeah, this is how it is. And you are?
- 27:10All meticulous as fuck. Everybody.
- 27:13I'm not. Jimmy.
- 27:16This is not it. I put a lot of effort.
- 27:17Put this card again. You should ask the boys.
- 27:19They're like, dude, Jimmy, like, so.
- 27:21All right, You know Ilia, right? Yeah.
- 27:23There's a joke that I have with Ilia that Ilia like is like 85%
- 27:27guy right, So he had this fucking a 31 Sephiro right and
- 27:32he put IS300 side scripts on it. If you ever saw them, it looks
- 27:36like he to cut them to fit thing.
- 27:39He was like blinds like just cut that shit because it was like
- 27:42all haggard like missed cuts like this.
- 27:44But it's very Ilia esque right, ask Canvan and Damon.
- 27:48I'm not OCD like them, like my shit looks good on the Internet,
- 27:51but you could probably go and be like OK like this guy did put
- 27:54some more effort in like fitting the kit and like trying to get
- 27:57out of that. There's also.
- 27:58Like an art, though with some people that they know they're
- 28:01not perfectionists, yeah, but for some reason they execute
- 28:04everything perfectly. That's I'm not a perfectionist,
- 28:06that's. Mine.
- 28:07I know that I'm not going to spend the time because it's not
- 28:09the the investment isn't worth the return.
- 28:12It's just not the return on investment.
- 28:14The ROI is just not there. So I'm not going to spend the
- 28:16extra like two hours to make something fit whenever it fits
- 28:20decently right now. And I know that I'm either going
- 28:22to hit something, fall off, it's going to look good on the
- 28:25Internet, like it really doesn't fucking matter.
- 28:28Anytime you dirt drop the back end of the car and then a piece
- 28:32of the bumper kind of just. That shit looks so fucking.
- 28:36Oh yeah, like in videos. Yeah, yeah, it's letting the
- 28:39nuts hang. God damn.
- 28:41So I don't know, I, I at the a lot of things that I talk about
- 28:44on here, I feel like a lot of people find relatable.
- 28:46So that right there is pretty fucking.
- 28:48Reliable. Yeah.
- 28:49It's just normal shit dude. Because like.
- 28:51People glorify people all the time.
- 28:52We're just normal people. It's really I'm no different
- 28:55from anybody else all the time. They just put people on
- 28:58pedestals and they shouldn't. What made you go back to this
- 29:01style? So the the D Max car the D Max
- 29:05car, I wanted to try something different.
- 29:07I had the opportunity. The R32 is a very quick cutter
- 29:11car. You have like 2 kits B in
- 29:13vertex. PS Deuce is pretty much vertex
- 29:16right? OEM shit on 32 sedan is kind of
- 29:19but that. Car was fucking good man that
- 29:21R32. But yeah, like you, just like
- 29:26you didn't have very much to explore.
- 29:28And like I said, your Koi D Max Type 3, like I wanted to do
- 29:32that. I wanted to make AD1SL car.
- 29:34That's what I wanted. And I was kind of at the time
- 29:37keeping up with the Joneses, right?
- 29:38Like I saw a bunch of shit. I was kind of getting trying to
- 29:41get myself out of the comfort zone.
- 29:42So I wanted to like, you know, like do what front St. was
- 29:46doing, you know, kind of drive like I did.
- 29:47I could do that. Like why the fuck can I not like
- 29:50and make a push and like drive like these guys and do that
- 29:53stuff and. What were you?
- 29:54What did you think you were missing?
- 29:55I don't know I, I don't know. I just.
- 29:57Like why do people think? I don't know, it was just kind
- 29:59of like, I saw what they were doing.
- 30:01I was like, dude, that looks like a lot of fun.
- 30:02It was the yeah, they, they. Changed their because they were
- 30:05into exactly that shit too. Like low everything and then
- 30:07they made it. Work yeah.
- 30:09And so it was something that I've never done.
- 30:12So like, I was like, let me try the high car thing.
- 30:14Like, but I know I can make it look cool.
- 30:17Like I can make it work. Like, it's not hard.
- 30:19Like all I do is find a cool car that I've seen in a magazine,
- 30:23like in a door tent and just copy it.
- 30:24Yeah, I'm not original at all. The cars look good.
- 30:26I just study. Real spot.
- 30:28Yeah, I'm not original. A little bit like a little bit
- 30:30of your. There's a little bit of my touch
- 30:31here and there, but like, like this car, like okay, it's just a
- 30:36fucking blue deep BN car from years ago.
- 30:39That's all it is. To me this is just your R32.
- 30:41Yeah that's the whole thing like the the the the yellow R32 yeah
- 30:47was my yellow 350Z that I could never like I never felt
- 30:50accomplished never did right that yellow 350Z OK so I painted
- 30:54the R32 yellow cuz I felt I. The fact that the Z was yellow
- 30:57was awesome. Yeah, yeah, one year 05, that's
- 31:00the only year that came yellow. So you like round tripped on?
- 31:03That well, because I didn't I didn't accomplish the Nismo like
- 31:06my my ZI wanted to do Nismo V3 yellow with like Tes, like
- 31:11that's what I wanted to do because they never did a yellow
- 31:14Nismo and like yellow was the color and like that's what I
- 31:17wanted to do and I never accomplished that color.
- 31:19I never conquered it, so whenever I did the BN yellow
- 31:22with the tribal and all that shit, I was like, oh I nailed
- 31:24it. I accomplished yellow.
- 31:25I was so mad as fuck because I missed the red so I remember
- 31:28that well. The car's getting painted red
- 31:29again. Yeah, so, but the the R32 red
- 31:33BN, like, I mean, Justin's car was red Essence had always been
- 31:37known for red. I love red.
- 31:39So the idea was like, all right, well, let me do our red R32
- 31:44because no one's ever done like a really the the pictures of the
- 31:48stock pictures of Vertex for R32 arrow is red, but it's like kind
- 31:52of shitty because it's like a stock body kind of thing.
- 31:54Like whatever. I was like, I can make a better
- 31:56red R32. So that's what I did.
- 31:58You know, I just made the VN red, you know, like no one ever
- 32:00did that. And then the R32 is yellow and I
- 32:05was like, oh dude, I really like the red.
- 32:08So then I was like, oh, I'm just going to do red now because
- 32:09that's like the essence color. Tev had painted his car red to
- 32:13match my 32 debut. Yeah, dude, that was the that
- 32:16was the real shit ever. He.
- 32:17Was like it's. Red, Yeah.
- 32:18I was so high because he was like, I was like, don't fucking
- 32:20tell me. I was like, if you want to paint
- 32:22your car red, that's fine. I don't want to pressure you,
- 32:24but paint it red if you want to, whatever.
- 32:26But I knew he was like, at the time wanted to do like black.
- 32:29He was kind of considering maybe keeping the OE blue, like
- 32:32whatever. And I was like, do whatever you
- 32:33want. I don't want to pressure you
- 32:34because painting a car's a big deal, especially him at his age.
- 32:38I was like, I'd really love for you to be red so we can match.
- 32:40I'd be sick, but like, don't because I you know who you know
- 32:43because. Then you feel like you're.
- 32:44Yeah, because then I feel guilty because yeah, he like, oh, it's
- 32:47kind of red. It's not really my car.
- 32:49And then he'll like not be into it.
- 32:50But anyways, y'all, y'all heard that story.
- 32:52So I painted the this car red because I felt like I scratched
- 32:57the X it the itch for the the pink car, you know, it was like.
- 33:01You got that out already. Yeah, like that car.
- 33:03Was sick too though. And yeah, it was cool.
- 33:06I drove sick. I just didn't feel it was mine.
- 33:09I kind of just like made it mechanically, right?
- 33:11Because I wanted like a driver's car, like the R32, you, you can
- 33:17make them drift fine. They're it's fine, whatever.
- 33:20But I'm like, let's actually see what a real proper setup car
- 33:24feels like. That's what I wanted to try.
- 33:26What did? What were your fine like did?
- 33:28What were your? Was it worth it?
- 33:32So, so when I, when I first did it, I was like, oh fuck yeah, I
- 33:35get this. This makes sense.
- 33:37Like it works, right? So I drove all last year.
- 33:39I was sick. 230 fives in front, 260 fives in back works and
- 33:42stuff like that, Right. So the reason why I didn't feel
- 33:47like the car was mine was because I built it mechanically.
- 33:49But aesthetically I let desire do everything.
- 33:52I was like, here, here's a clean slate, here's a checkbook, do
- 33:56whatever you want. I want something cool.
- 33:58I like your style. Let's create something.
- 34:00So that's what we created. But at the end of the day, I
- 34:03didn't feel like it was really my car.
- 34:06You know, I think it was someone else's colours.
- 34:08I mean, I I I was like, Oh yeah, yeah, the pink works like Harris
- 34:11was like, dude, you should do this pink.
- 34:12I was like, yeah, this cool, this is cool pink, let's do
- 34:14this. But it wasn't like, OK, like
- 34:18let's do like yellow because I think I was originally doing
- 34:20yellow. I had that car in like every
- 34:22colour like yellow, blue, white like the white D Max coupe or
- 34:27the Sylvia that has the 1 via front.
- 34:30Yeah. You'd you'd recognize when you
- 34:33see it. I wanted that car, but it's
- 34:35Sylvia. That was like the idea.
- 34:37Yeah. Yeah.
- 34:38So anyways. And that's a Is that a different
- 34:40car than this or is this the same?
- 34:41Car. This is the same pink car?
- 34:42I thought so. Yeah.
- 34:42Same pink car, Yeah. I feel like the the designing
- 34:45part of it at least since we're DIY people, if there's something
- 34:49that you can learn or teach yourself before you pay somebody
- 34:53else, it's not about the pay thing.
- 34:54It's about the I could just learn this on my own type thing.
- 34:57So I feel like that's where I would feel like since I didn't,
- 35:01I didn't draw any of this. And maybe that's not even to the
- 35:03fault of the designers either, which makes it even shittier
- 35:07because you don't even know why you don't like.
- 35:08It man, No, no, no. It I mean, it was cool because
- 35:10like, we would go back and forth and like, all right, let's
- 35:11change this, change this. Like at the time I had my
- 35:14daughter, her name's Lily. So we put like Lily flowers on
- 35:18it. So the flowers on it, those are
- 35:19Lily, right? So it was like sick.
- 35:20Yeah. So like that kind of stuff.
- 35:22We did that kind of stuff. And I like I definitely put like
- 35:25some effort into it, but it I don't know, I think I just
- 35:27strayed too far away from me, but it was cool.
- 35:33Like that car was sick. It looked the that's why I'm
- 35:35acting. It looked.
- 35:36The part it drove, the part it did, it did it, but it just
- 35:39wasn't me. So it was me and Kev just
- 35:43bullshitting. And Kev was like, dude, you
- 35:45should just go fucking be in again.
- 35:47I was like, all right, fuck it, let's go.
- 35:49And so that's what I did. I just went back to being in
- 35:51red. I was like fuck it, let's just
- 35:53do it. That's why everyone was so
- 35:56geeked and that you were back. Yeah, that's what I did.
- 35:58And then like I tried to sell these wheels for like 4 years.
- 36:01They just sat in the attic and no one fucking bought them.
- 36:02I was like fuck it. But wait, the car was set up to
- 36:05drive really well this and that, but then you ended up bringing
- 36:08it back down. Just dumped it on.
- 36:09It's fucking nuts. Dude didn't touch.
- 36:11Anything else? No.
- 36:12I didn't even align it for the last year.
- 36:13I finally had the first alignment.
- 36:15All I did was paint the bitch red, throw all the BN catalog on
- 36:18it, dump it on Chrome wheels, and it drives better.
- 36:21Naturally. I don't I Well, the only thing I
- 36:23did do is I changed tires. I went to a 2:15.
- 36:26I've always ran like a sticky front.
- 36:28So I used to run like Falcon 6 Fifteens.
- 36:31Yeah, or I ran. Everybody.
- 36:34Or I ran the Valeno O8 Rs OK, like a stickier tire because I
- 36:39love the grip. I was like, let's try to loose
- 36:41the car up. Let me try that this year.
- 36:42So I just put like Acceleras in the front.
- 36:45Sick car snaps. Yeah, a mine drove really good
- 36:48on Acceleras. Too.
- 36:49I like it. I like it in the front, like
- 36:51less grip. It's a little bit more snappier
- 36:53like. The first thing I noticed too
- 36:54was the wheels, because I'm on some like, I am the poor guy.
- 36:59I don't think I've built anything really really super
- 37:01great yet, but I'm the poor guy where I'm going to research.
- 37:04I know what spec I want, I don't want it to not fit.

- 38:15Japan, like Fabulous Profound or Amistad Brite or whatever, I saw
- 38:20those and I was like, is that a fabulous, like from far away?
- 38:25And I was like, fuck yeah, yeah, somebody's rocking something
- 38:28that nobody does. Nobody knows how much those are.
- 38:30What? The.
- 38:31Deposit, it doesn't matter. I literally can't.
- 38:34Like I don't even know how the fuck I.
- 38:36With the caps too. Yeah, they.
- 38:38Like they look good? I don't know how, see how did I
- 38:42find these? And they're wide, dude.
- 38:44A lot of those wheels don't you typically.
- 38:46Come like, no, they're not yeah, they're like the perfect spec
- 38:49they're. Here here's some here's some
- 38:52wheel spec stuff. Check this out.
- 38:54This is a real fucking flex. So yeah, you can't find them
- 38:56because they're monoblocks or they're like 2 piece welding or
- 38:59whatever or whatever, right? But you can't like I've asked
- 39:02the local wheel guy, he's like, dude, I don't want to rebuild
- 39:04these things like whatever. Like because I've I've tried to
- 39:06find like spares 17 by 9, like plus 24 sick 18 by 10, like +2
- 39:14or +8 or something like that. Like you can't get anything
- 39:18better than that. And I still run.
- 39:19So this car, like it's still the same setup as B knuckle.
- 39:23It's still B knuckle car. It still has you can check it's
- 39:26like double stack spacer. I think it's like 40 mil.
- 39:28Spacer I do see. It it's, it's the same thing.
- 39:30It's just dumped. And it probably works just.
- 39:34It drives so. Good.
- 39:35It drives. So I watched it drive.
- 39:37Yeah, it's. Sick and 265 is still on.
- 39:39The route, well, I just went to 260 fives.
- 39:41OK, I've been 230 fives. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:44I went to the tire shop and they just put 260 fives on accident,
- 39:47so I just drove 260 fives. So.
- 39:49Two 15265. South, you lowered it, change
- 39:52the colour, did all that and downsize the tires.
- 39:54Yeah. And then went back.
- 39:55That's it. Yeah, just loosen the car up.
- 39:57That's all I did. And yeah, I drive sick.
- 40:00They set you up. They were like no, no, no, no,
- 40:02no. Give them.
- 40:02Give them. The no they just because I
- 40:04assume everybody runs 26 fives. I was like oh fucking whatever.
- 40:06They rent 26 fives all double cup.
- 40:07It was fine. Yeah.
- 40:09Man, yeah, that's all it is. All I did was lower it.
- 40:10I didn't align it. I didn't do nothing.
- 40:12I just maxed out the coilovers. What is the engine set up on
- 40:14this thing? It's a fully built SRS 15 Sr.
- 40:18like 4 draws Pistons. Yeah.
- 40:20Tomei Cams S15 turbo E85 power FC.
- 40:28Is that the club T-28 Origin? Yeah, T28I was gonna nothing
- 40:34more. There was a brand new one in a
- 40:36box at Faction before we left to come here and I was like, I
- 40:40gotta take a picture of this video.
- 40:41Jim, you want me to bring this? Yeah. 28 Yeah, no, yeah, that's
- 40:47all it is. It's it's.
- 40:47That's not the same motor from your Skyline.
- 40:49No, no, no, no. The Skyline still has S15 motor,
- 40:52but it has Tom's old 3071 set up on it.
- 40:54Oh, really? Yeah.
- 40:55So the skyline makes like 407 horsepower.
- 40:57Why are there pieces of Tom all? In Oh no, Josh is Josh is not
- 41:00Tom's. OK.
- 41:01That's because when we were at Kevin's house at right at the
- 41:04end, Kevin was like, Oh yeah, that was Tom.
- 41:08I was like, yo, you got fucked. Your car got fucked up here.
- 41:10He's like, yeah, that was Tom. I was like, of course.
- 41:11I was like, we're. Pretty far from home to here.
- 41:14Yeah, no, no, I the sees garage set up 37 one like that's their
- 41:18tried and true. And I love sees garage.
- 41:20I fucking love sees garage SO371 set up like that was the dream
- 41:23Turbo and Josh was, you know, doing whatever gay shit.
- 41:27So I was like send that shit to me.
- 41:30So I put it on the skyline. GG.
- 41:32Series G Series. Shit so.
- 41:35Is that is that the argument right now and you guys?
- 41:37Is no, it's fine. Yeah, it was.
- 41:39The only thing that I hate about the G series is that the
- 41:41intake's 3 inch and not 4. That's the only thing.
- 41:44Because on a 3071 it's a 4 inch intake.
- 41:46So you just have that big Dick intake and 3071 you have the
- 41:50skinny pencil Dick shit. And then if you try to put the
- 41:52coupler that goes from three to four, it just looks stupid.
- 41:54Yeah, that would look worse. It looks gay.
- 41:56So yeah, that's that's my whole gripe with the new shit, because
- 41:59I don't mind technology. That's cool.
- 42:01Like do whatever. But I it.
- 42:02Doesn't look as it. Like it just doesn't look as
- 42:05cool. 37 one is like proportionately sized turbo is
- 42:10Sr. Like it looks good.
- 42:12Like in the bed, it looks good. Yeah, sizing matters.
- 42:15I fucking love it. Here.
- 42:16I mean, Josh doesn't like it either.
- 42:17Yeah, we're being honest. Like, no, Josh doesn't like it.
- 42:19Yeah, he just knows that it works great, you know, So so.
- 42:22What's the TDO 6 obsession? Classic era, like just classic
- 42:27Japanese. That's what everyone ran like.
- 42:29But also that turbo and so laggy.
- 42:32Yeah. So like, it's Sr. safe.
- 42:34That's what it is. I never thought about that.
- 42:35Yeah. The torque is like later in the
- 42:37power band now down low so you're not blowing shit up.
- 42:39So if you can just drive with a laggy turbo, which is possible,
- 42:43you're not gonna you're it's Sr. safe.
- 42:45Yeah, I don't. I never get when people are like
- 42:46safe, you know, I need a low end torque.
- 42:48It's like. No, that's what damages the
- 42:51motors. Yeah, I'm like, you don't really
- 42:52need that at all. I don't know if you've gone
- 42:54drifting before. Someone has told me that it was
- 42:56like oh it. It sounds quite fun.
- 42:58It works at peak efficiency for Sr. and I thought they're
- 43:01bullshit and they'll. Tell you what, they're.
- 43:02Yeah, that's probably what they're.
- 43:03They mean yeah, yeah, I think yeah, it works.
- 43:05I mean, but in drifting you're at fucking higher RPMS anyways,
- 43:07Yeah. And if you're like in a dead
- 43:10corner, you just gotta do good footwork and keep the RPMS up,
- 43:12yeah, and you're fine. It's the same reason why people
- 43:14like blow gearboxes and shit like that.
- 43:16Tom yeah, we've talked about that lately too, because they're
- 43:18just like, what the fuck is it with Americans and just blowing
- 43:21these? Transmissions, yeah, Because
- 43:22they're like BOM, bom, BOM. They're not just like slipping
- 43:24the clutch, working it. That's all it is.
- 43:26It's footwork. It's just not studying.
- 43:28You think? There's nothing not being broke.
- 43:30Yeah, something as much as like, do you ever see when though when
- 43:34Tom or Josh drive and shift something, you know what I mean?
- 43:37There's like a little bit of a when you're watching the old
- 43:39videos. When you're watching the old
- 43:41videos, they're like not fucking jamming that shit in a.
- 43:44Well it's also but like Tom has a fucking dog box.
- 43:47Doesn't he? No prior, prior.
- 43:48I'm talking prior. Prior the dog box was a result.
- 43:50Of all of that, shit's probably rusted up in fucking Jersey with
- 43:53salt and shit. No, it's hell over there.
- 43:55It's OK. Yeah, that's, you know, whatever
- 43:57We don't have the. Day.
- 43:57It's literally a frozen hell right now, Yeah.
- 43:59So that's probably why they do not.
- 44:01Want to go home? But no, like, I don't know, it's
- 44:04just driving. Because I was in, I was in Japan
- 44:06that time with them and we're and the Japanese dudes were
- 44:09like, I was looking at their cars and I was like, what is
- 44:11this fucking thing? It was like a breather thing for
- 44:13the trans. I was like, what is this?
- 44:15They're like, oh, that saves the transmissions.
- 44:17I was like, oh, we'll find out this weekend.
- 44:19Oh yeah. Because I was like, you brought
- 44:20the best people to test this and they just blew every trans up.
- 44:23I was like. Whatever they did, what was it a
- 44:26couple years ago when I went to Japan, Yusuf took me to B West.
- 44:32Where you're talking. To a chunky buy and he was like,
- 44:34he was just giving me tips on stuff and I wrote it all in my
- 44:37notes and stuff like like that. The breather on the gearbox,
- 44:41you're supposed to like run a catch can and you run that line
- 44:44from the gearbox up to like the corner of the course port and
- 44:48you fill it from there, but you're supposed to fill it up
- 44:50some. So you're using the breather
- 44:52line. As an as.
- 44:53A reservoir as a fluid and then on the gearboxes Z32 boxes that
- 44:59mid plate mm Hmm. Over time it gets heat
- 45:02distorted. So you're supposed.
- 45:03To replace that. Yeah, they're actually, I
- 45:05learned in Depends, yeah. So you need to replace that.
- 45:08So there's like a bunch of tricks that they, those guys
- 45:10have known and like nothing's published.
- 45:13Yeah, you won't know until you go over there and talk to.
- 45:15Someone you have to like, figure it out and try it out and do it
- 45:19and shit like that is. That plate, that plate's also on
- 45:20the RB trans. Yeah, they're all the same.
- 45:22Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We just got out of.
- 45:25Z32RB trans. You got to replace that plate
- 45:27over time or like, yeah, or I've had it, or I've had like people
- 45:33who don't use dowel pens on their gearboxes.
- 45:35So your alignment's not right, so your motor's going to sag a
- 45:37little bit and it throws the pitch of your middle.
- 45:41Like the? Dowel pens on the bell housing
- 45:43and shit. Yeah, what?
- 45:44Yeah. You mean have both of them so
- 45:47that your motor doesn't like sag a little bit after like bolts
- 45:50and stuff like that, so that your middle driveline rod
- 45:52doesn't have like whatever or it'll snap, like wear shit out.
- 45:56There's like little stuff like that.
- 45:58I'm telling you, you have to listen to the engineers and
- 45:59manufacturers. Yeah, They designed it for a
- 46:01reason. They tested it longer than you.
- 46:03You don't, you know. Yeah, even that little plate
- 46:05might do something in between. Yeah, it really will.
- 46:07I don't know. Everyone's like, yeah, fuck
- 46:09that. Fuck the top bullets.
- 46:10Fuck this. I'm like why?
- 46:11Don't we try to put it back in the way it came out first?
- 46:14Absolutely. We kind of covered a lot about
- 46:16the car and now I kind of want to bring up something that
- 46:18Frankie's been talking about, which is like that this is the
- 46:21new Style Haven. Dude.
- 46:23OK this. Is yeah, this is yeah.
- 46:26How did you quit? I'm calling this the new
- 46:28Chicago, basically, yeah. He has been.
- 46:31That was all it was. Yeah, it was the first one
- 46:36about. I was like, I have to go.
- 46:38I went by myself, I flew up there, met everybody.
- 46:42I probably met you around. The time I think so.
- 46:43I think we met at about 1:00. We did the same thing.
- 46:45Me and my buddy, we we drove there with Boss Town.
- 46:48Didn't even know them. Yeah, just like went up there,
- 46:50got in the car and went across the country.
- 46:52Yep, that's what I did. I was like, at the time it was
- 46:56lazy rocket. Yeah, because we both had ZS.
- 46:59OK, so we're like the only two, Like what I felt at the time was
- 47:03like too cool, like Z guys that like new Japanese drifting and
- 47:08like loved that era. But we knew we had ZS.
- 47:10We knew we weren't like we couldn't achieve that with AZ,
- 47:12but like we couldn't get out of the Z.
- 47:14We needed the Z to like go to work and school and shit.
- 47:16So me and Corey linked up and I just rode with him and he was
- 47:21from Chicago. So went to final, first, final
- 47:24bout, and that's where I met Damon and Teddy and everybody
- 47:26else and then that kind of thing.
- 47:29I was like, dude, this is what I want to do for the rest of my
- 47:32life. Like this, this drifting.
- 47:34That first final bout trip for a lot of you guys was so neat to
- 47:38me because you all congregated there and now it's years down
- 47:42the line and we're still doing it.
- 47:44Yeah, I haven't missed 1 yet. Yeah, like that's, that's insane
- 47:47to me. And that was an era where how
- 47:49are you guys even learning about?
- 47:52It was just like. Everyone's Instagram.
- 47:55Was yeah, but like you, just. Followed certain people and.
- 47:58You. Knew that stuff and then final
- 48:01bot 2 I had the 32 and like Revgasm had been like Revgasm
- 48:06had followed me because of the 180 or my S13.
- 48:11Oh I just call S13's 180's because the hatches.
- 48:13Right. Yeah.
- 48:14Yeah, yeah, there used to be a big fight about.
- 48:16I think everyone gave up on that now.
- 48:18I think so too, but. Like finally.
- 48:19Yeah, anyways, patches are 180's.
- 48:22So my 180, I had that and Josh was like following me on
- 48:25Instagram, I think about it. And then I had the 32 and we
- 48:29made like some comments or something like that about like
- 48:33final bout, like bringing this to final bout or something like
- 48:35that. And I was like Josh, I will just
- 48:37find about. Let me know.
- 48:38So then, yeah, at the time front about two we drove, it was me
- 48:43and Andrew, Justin and Enron had kind of like nod about it.
- 48:47So then we pulled Patino D R.E.M., Petino was our third and
- 48:50that was essence for front about two.
- 48:52So it was all sedan. I remember that.
- 48:54It was all sedan, Yeah. And we joked around.
- 48:55We were like all our cars for sale.
- 48:57We put for sale signs in in the pits.
- 48:59So then I drove final about two. White JZX.
- 49:02And. Then yeah, it was your.
- 49:03Car was black. My car was black, Andrew's IS
- 49:06was 3 was silver and then Pitino's JZX was maroon.
- 49:11Did you have T37? Though I had blitzo threes, OK
- 49:14blitzo threes be in and I St. drove it from here to Chicago
- 49:17for final bout and drove it back.
- 49:18I heard about that, that that is your MO.
- 49:20You like to drive it around, which is.
- 49:22Great. Not anymore.
- 49:23I don't do that. Shit, that's all.
- 49:24Fine, yeah, fuck all. That is that where you're what
- 49:26hair? That's where all the hair was.
- 49:28No stress. No, that's watching kids.
- 49:32But yeah, I did that. That was final about two, final
- 49:34about 3 went back and that was like the big one.
- 49:36That was like. About 3.
- 49:38About 3 was a big one that was like the the conjugation like
- 49:41everyone messed up, like we all. It was like the alumni for fun
- 49:46about 1 and find about two. We weren't like driving.
- 49:49Some people were driving, but we're all like this big group
- 49:51chat. We rented out Chief Keefs house.
- 49:55Yeah, I remember that. One yeah, we did the big party
- 49:57for like 3 days. What?
- 49:58What? What?
- 49:59You didn't tell me any of it. Yeah.
- 50:01We did. No, you don't.
- 50:02Listen now. Yeah.
- 50:04Never I would have heard you say the words, Chief.
- 50:06Keef, I didn't. I didn't rent it out.
- 50:07I was just we went there and. Yeah, yeah, Fresh tree showed
- 50:10up. Oh, you guys showed up.
- 50:11We. Cranked the heat up and then
- 50:12left and and locked the thermostat.
- 50:13Yeah, shot the dice in the basement show like that.
- 50:17Yeah, it was. It was that whole thing, the
- 50:19whole fun about 3 that was like the big one that kind of
- 50:21solidified that like core group of fun about.
- 50:23Like OGS? I remember that.
- 50:24Yeah, the photo on the stairs. The photo on the stairs like
- 50:26that was us. Dude, I feel like I'm there
- 50:29right now. That was probably so fun.
- 50:32Yeah, it was sick. Like because now you had to, you
- 50:34had the opportunity to look back at 1:00 and 2:00 because now the
- 50:36third year that happened already.
- 50:38That was the one where me and Josh raced St. raced in some
- 50:41side street in Chicago and our fucking body kits are like
- 50:43coming off and like flapping and we're just like.
- 50:46Yeah, so like there was that one and but at final about 3, Simba
- 50:51and Ilya were like, we're done, we're done doing final about
- 50:54like we're going to move on doing stuff like that.
- 50:56But like we're all sitting there and Simba and Ilya were like, we
- 50:59want you guys to like take what we did here and like take you
- 51:02back to your places and plant the seeds and stuff like that.
- 51:05And so at the time, I think it was probably about final about
- 51:09two era. We're still doing Lone Star
- 51:11Drift and I was like, all right, there's a group of us inside
- 51:16Lone Star that like, like this shit, let's just do our own
- 51:19thing inside of it. And so that's whenever I started
- 51:22trying to create Texas Street Legal.
- 51:24Oh fuck, I forgot about that. So hold on A.
- 51:27Minute. Limitless Auto Fab is a
- 51:29fabrication shop and retailer located in Illinois.
- 51:32They produce bash bars and catch cans for a bunch of popular
- 51:34models in the drifting community.
- 51:36Limitless bash bars are honestly the industry standard right now.
- 51:39Fabricated from 1 1/2 inch mild steel tube, these bars are
- 51:42designed to take the impact of light collisions in order to
- 51:45avoid or minimize damage to your vehicle.
- 51:47A must have for drift cars. Their bars also come with
- 51:50jacking points and optional license plate brackets so
- 51:52everything you need is right there from the start.
- 51:54Limitless Auto also sells catch cans for a handful of specific
- 51:58models. These cans are built in house
- 52:00and chassis specific. We have used these cans in the
- 52:02shop with great results. The guys over at Limitless are
- 52:05on social media so make sure to check out their Instagram and
- 52:07give them a follow. They post photos of all the
- 52:10drift cars using their products from Front St.
- 52:11Drift Club to Animal Style. If you are in the market for a
- 52:14bash bar or catch can, make sure to check out their full product
- 52:17line up on our website factionmotorsports.com.
- 52:20This podcast is sponsored by Ramstead MFG.
- 52:23They sell an easy to use wheel fitment tool that is a massive
- 52:26game changer for any shop or enthusiast looking for an easy
- 52:28way to check their wheel fitment.
- 52:30With their user friendly tool you can check diameter with an
- 52:33offset before you buy your wheels.
- 52:35Gone are the days of ordering wheels and hoping that your math
- 52:38was correct. Just throw their tool on your
- 52:40wheel hub and dial in your specs to see if your dream wheel
- 52:42clears your coilover and fenders before committing to the
- 52:45purchase. Not only can you check wheel fit
- 52:47in with their tool, you can use it to check suspension clearance
- 52:50as well. This is really great for
- 52:51Drifters who are always changing wheel lock and adding angle to
- 52:54their setups. Now you can see if those new
- 52:56suspension arms or tie rods will clear your wheels at full lock
- 53:00before going out and destroying your new wheels.
- 53:02Another feature is that you can use two of these tools together
- 53:05to measure track with from the wheel center line.
- 53:08About 20% of RAM Sets customers purchase 2 tools at once so they
- 53:12can measure track with for various wheel and suspension
- 53:14setup. I recommend this product to the
- 53:16everyday enthusiast and most importantly shop owners that
- 53:19need a way to size wheels for customers so that they know they
- 53:22are getting the right specs before ordering a brand new set
- 53:24of wheels. To get more info, head on over
- 53:26to ramsteadmfg.com and if you'd like to purchase their Wheel
- 53:29Fitment Tool Pro, we are now carrying them in store at
- 53:32Faction Motorsports and Faction motorsports.com.
- 53:35So here's the here's it is I had commissioned do from the East
- 53:40Coast fortune. He's a graphic designer.
- 53:46I think he's a black dude. Voyager.
- 53:51Fuck. Where from the east you think?
- 53:54Like I'm thinking like maybe not New York, but like maybe more
- 53:59like Boston, MA or. Something.
- 54:01Like that? Yeah, maybe.
- 54:02We just don't know. Him.
- 54:03It's like Fantastic Voyage, something like.
- 54:05That sounds familiar. Right.
- 54:06I hope. Yes.
- 54:08Oh, what? I think so.
- 54:10So. I used to talk to him and I was
- 54:12like, dude, I have this idea. I want to do Texas street legal
- 54:15but I want the D1 SL banner. And he was like, oh that's easy.
- 54:19So we just changed D1 to TX and it was street legal.
- 54:22And my idea was that we were going to run like this
- 54:24underground secret Japanese St. thing inside Lone Star Drift and
- 54:30it would be a communal judge each other like, OK, this event,
- 54:34you were the best driver this weekend.
- 54:36Here's your trophy. Very like, you know, like the
- 54:38little Japanese trophy, like just a bro thing that like all
- 54:41the style guys at that time would just be like, let's run
- 54:45this banner. Let's just do Texas street
- 54:46legal. We have all street legal cars.
- 54:48Like we wanted to follow like D1 rules, like we wanted radios
- 54:52registration, like run the cat catalytic converter just like
- 54:56D1S. Oh, D1 lights.
- 54:58Yeah, yeah. And just do that and like just
- 55:00have our own gentleman's agreement.
- 55:02Well, as soon as I built that, coincidentally, Aaron Lossy just
- 55:05happened to be like, hey, drifting pro AM is getting a
- 55:08little bit too expensive, let's start doing a street legal.
- 55:10And I said lossy, I already have this.
- 55:13Here's the banner. Let's do it.
- 55:15But please just make sure the cars like have all their panel
- 55:18because that was like in the middle of the missile crisis and
- 55:21I was like, please just make sure all the cars are clean,
- 55:22stuff like that. He's all right.
- 55:23Cool. So we did that and we all
- 55:25competed and it was kind of cool, but it he he just took it
- 55:29a different direction and I'd already kind of did a rookie
- 55:32mistake and gave him like. Some sort of a creative right
- 55:35type of? Deal.
- 55:36So I lost Texas street legal. I was like, all right, whatever,
- 55:38fuck it. So at that point, that's
- 55:40whenever we started to not drive Lone Star and we started
- 55:45driving, we started trying to do our own events at the police
- 55:48Academy and stuff like that and trying to recreate that
- 55:51ourselves. And how many of you were there,
- 55:54you think? It was really essence of fat
- 55:55cats at the time. That's it.
- 55:56OK, so not too many. No, it was like.
- 55:58Enough to start, dude. Yeah, I think maybe like. 10
- 56:01Because fat cats was deep. That cats was like Mike, Josh,
- 56:05Zach, Eddie, Casey. Who else did they have?
- 56:10Yeah, we're about to meet them tomorrow.
- 56:11Yeah, I think that like, like those guys, and it was like me,
- 56:14Harris, Kevin, there was a couple other outliers that
- 56:18didn't really have teams or maybe they did, but like they
- 56:21were the only ones driving. But like it was really like 10
- 56:24or 12 of us. That's it.
- 56:26And you know, we rent, Mike rented out like police Academy
- 56:30for us because he knew like the cop there or something like
- 56:32that. And we do that kind of shit.
- 56:34And that's whenever we, one of the Lone Star guys that we knew
- 56:41had driven speed sports because they were doing like track
- 56:44events. Normal track grip driving thing.
- 56:48And his name is Brad. And Brad had went out there and
- 56:51drifted because he knew the guy who was running the grip thing.
- 56:55And I messaged Brad. I was like, dude, please.
- 56:57Like whenever you go out there, let me come drive.
- 56:59Like, I just want to come drive. So he's like, yeah, yeah, I'll,
- 57:02I'll put a good word in for you. Whatever.
- 57:03So it was like me, Andrew, Zach Triggs.
- 57:07And who else went Brad? I think that's it and we got to
- 57:13go drive speed forts and I posted a clip and this was like
- 57:162019 at this point. I had thought that this was all
- 57:19like a a long no, dude, this that's kind of recent.
- 57:23Yeah, it. Was like. 20, 2018-2019.
- 57:25Dude. So this was like, OK, so fun
- 57:27about, let's see, first fun about was. 14. 14 fun about two
- 57:32is 1516 so like 1718 arrow was when we were like in limbo.
- 57:38This street legal thing is not really working.
- 57:40The R32 is like in paint jail for a year, so I didn't drive
- 57:43for a whole year. And then that's whenever we're
- 57:46like, dude, fuck it. Like let's try to try to do this
- 57:48like style, like cool, like what we like kind of thing.
- 57:54So then we did like police Academy a couple times.
- 57:56I drove speed sports Simba and I think Simba or Ilia at that
- 58:00point were like, dude, where the fuck is this track?
- 58:02I was like, dude, it's in Houston.
- 58:04You know, it's like kind of owner whatever, and then Simba
- 58:08was like, yo, we're going to start doing these like special
- 58:10stages and this is going to be perfect for like the South.
- 58:12I was like, all right, cool, so this is what we're doing.
- 58:16Simba had got into contract with the track owner, did all that
- 58:20and set up like find about South and I like seems like, hey, I
- 58:23need help, like who's in Texas, who can drive this stuff, yada,
- 58:26yada, yada. So it was like me some and Ilia
- 58:28like trying to put on this special safe S to like try to
- 58:32get the first event going. I was working at like this big
- 58:37off like warehouse and. I remember seeing the photos,
- 58:40yeah. So we get like shipped shit.
- 58:43Like we just like shipped all the final bout stuff to my work.
- 58:45Like we brought all the cars in, like all that other stuff, got
- 58:48everybody ready and like did the first special stage and someone
- 58:51was like, dude, you have to keep this track to yourself.
- 58:54Like you have to keep doing. The liaison be the leader
- 58:57because dude, you have an info everybody I got to attend one of
- 59:01the events. Everybody there like has just an
- 59:06an obscene amount of respect for you.
- 59:08That's pretty fucking rare. It's pretty sick.
- 59:10That's really rare. It's really sick, like rare as
- 59:13fuck. Well, I don't know.
- 59:15I did. I wasn't even supposed to be the
- 59:17one. I think Simba and Ilia went to
- 59:19like Fat Cat Mike and was like, you should do this and kind of
- 59:23thing because at the time I put like a lot of effort into S,
- 59:27like especially S the first one. And I didn't feel I got the
- 59:30recognition for it like from Simba and Ilia.
- 59:32Like, like, it's like Simba, like Ilia was here in 3L, They
- 59:36like, stayed at my house for a week and all that other shit.
- 59:39And I just didn't think I got a proper thank you.
- 59:41So I was super pissed. Yeah, I was like, really fucking
- 59:44pissed. And I was like, yeah, maybe I
- 59:48was just being a bitch in my feelings or whatever.
- 59:49No, yeah, it kind of just stings a little.
- 59:51Bit so, you know, it's more on me maybe, but yeah.
- 59:56And so Simba was like, hey, you have to do this.
- 59:57Like, dude, I'm not fucking doing it.
- 59:59Like I'm about to have a family. I don't have time to fucking run
- 1:00:01events. Like fuck all you guys.
- 1:00:02I'm not doing this shit. That was like March.
- 1:00:06In like May like two months later, I like I was like.
- 1:00:10Dude. All right.
- 1:00:11Yeah, sure, I'll do. It and.
- 1:00:13So you're. Such a piece of shit.
- 1:00:15I'm such a piece of shit dude. And.
- 1:00:17So like Mike, they they like told the fact that Mike like,
- 1:00:20hey, you should do it da da da da.
- 1:00:22And Mike's like, I have a business.
- 1:00:23I can't, I don't have time to fucking do this.
- 1:00:25Yeah. And so like, dude, you can you
- 1:00:27do it like you should you have something special here, because
- 1:00:30we, you know, we, you know, put some effort and kids were
- 1:00:32starting to build stuff like oblivion.
- 1:00:34It started, you know, shit like that, like a bunch of teams are
- 1:00:38like like starting to get built up and stuff like that.
- 1:00:41And I was like, all right, fine, whatever.
- 1:00:44So I started to knuckle up and yeah, I just been doing that
- 1:00:48ever since. I just wanted to create the
- 1:00:51easiest way to explain it is to find about feeder series.
- 1:00:54That's that's that was the goal because I everything that I
- 1:00:56wanted to do and find about, I was like, I want this at home
- 1:00:59all the time. I want to experience this.
- 1:01:00I'm like chasing that high all the fucking time.
- 1:01:03And now that you explain it, it kind of makes sense, yeah.
- 1:01:05Dude I would love. So that's that's all knuckle up
- 1:01:09is, is that it's a final bout fetus series I want.
- 1:01:12And it kind of started from final bout because 100.
- 1:01:13Percent, yeah, that's what it is, Yeah.
- 1:01:15Yeah. Like we started with those HPA
- 1:01:19days with fat cats and then we started knuckle up and then like
- 1:01:23just kept in there and I kind of faltered like 2 years ago.
- 1:01:26Kind of like, OK, let's like let more people in but OK.
- 1:01:29At this point it's like Nah fucked up.
- 1:01:31Yeah, because that is, that is a big thing about those events.
- 1:01:34Like you don't. It's kind of like based on
- 1:01:36selection almost, yeah. So it's there's a criteria.
- 1:01:39You just have to have a cool car.
- 1:01:41I used to be the one that was like, no, you're in or not.
- 1:01:43And people were fucking hating me.
- 1:01:45They're like, dude, you're a piece of shit, yada yada yada.
- 1:01:47I was like, fine, fucking put it to the community.
- 1:01:49So then we do Instagram votes and I just post their car and
- 1:01:52let the people that yeah. And then people get fucking
- 1:01:55dogged. Yeah.
- 1:01:56That's kind of a. Perfect.
- 1:01:58Way to do that, it's best. It gets me pressure off of me
- 1:02:00because, you know, people don't want to know that I'm the right
- 1:02:02person. Yeah, and then and then everyone
- 1:02:04can see that the the community agrees.
- 1:02:06Yeah, that your car's shitty, Yeah.
- 1:02:07It's easy as that when I visited that day with Brad, like my
- 1:02:10Brad, there's. This Brad?
- 1:02:13Yeah, this Brad. Oh shit.
- 1:02:16What? Up Brad.
- 1:02:17But he was like, we're going to go see some cool cars today.
- 1:02:20I'm going to bring you here without saying we were going to
- 1:02:24go somewhere else to go see other cars.
- 1:02:26But I went there and as soon as we pulled up one, that facility
- 1:02:30has a gas station within a pebbles throw. 711. 711 a super.
- 1:02:37J Yeah, I. Forgot.
- 1:02:39Was it Domino's? Taco Bell.
- 1:02:41Yeah, sorry, I was both. Yeah, it's both.
- 1:02:43Yeah. That's the first thing he told
- 1:02:44me about. 7-11 with the Taco taqueria in it.
- 1:02:47Yeah, it has a food court zone. There's a McDonald's and a
- 1:02:50fucking water park across the. Street.
- 1:02:52You said McDonald's on there. Real like that is a it's the
- 1:02:55Mecca. It's the Mecca.
- 1:02:57That's why the Mecca. That's why I gatekeeper dude.
- 1:03:00Yeah. It is what it is.
- 1:03:02You don't want to see some crazy cars there.
- 1:03:04Well, no, I mean, it's a professional shifter car track
- 1:03:06first and foremost. And so like, that's what brings
- 1:03:09the money to keep that track alive.
- 1:03:11Yeah. So if we let anybody in to fuck
- 1:03:14the track up to. Dirt drops everywhere.
- 1:03:16Well it's not even that. Like if you just have a bunch of
- 1:03:19shitty cars, the people that are there day in day out, like the
- 1:03:22shifter card people, they're like, I'm not going to go to
- 1:03:24this track. They let these shitty cars on
- 1:03:26track. Like I don't want to be shifter
- 1:03:30card. That's big money dude.
- 1:03:31Like. That's that's literally like a
- 1:03:33feeder series than a fucking formula whatever.
- 1:03:35Like there's, there's like like the Astros, their, their kids
- 1:03:41are out there racing like millionaires.
- 1:03:44They have their kids racing stuff like that.
- 1:03:45Those people don't want to see shitty fucking cars on their
- 1:03:48track that they're raising their professional racing kids on it.
- 1:03:51Spilling fluids on the surface. Right, and just not giving a
- 1:03:54shit. So like you have to dress for
- 1:03:56the job that you want, not for that the job that you have.
- 1:04:00So you can't just have some shitty car out there and then
- 1:04:03having a bad impression because media is going to show it and
- 1:04:06then speed sports will get a bad name or like a.
- 1:04:09Bad image, That's your name too. Yeah.
- 1:04:11Absolutely. So.
- 1:04:12And that's why I like now in my drivers meetings if there's
- 1:04:15shitty cars that pull up. Like I literally tell media
- 1:04:18don't take pictures of the shitty cars.
- 1:04:19I will pay you not to take pictures of the shitty cars that
- 1:04:21show up. I love you.
- 1:04:24I will. I I even called myself out.
- 1:04:29I'm like, dude, I don't have a front bumper.
- 1:04:30I don't want to see a picture of my fucking car today.
- 1:04:32Yeah, because then it's going to, it's the same deal.
- 1:04:33Like I'm not up to par, but I'm here.
- 1:04:35But like, you know, because I used to be a real stickler about
- 1:04:39it and just be like, everyone should have their car on point
- 1:04:41all the time. Anytime you start to hit a
- 1:04:43little smile, I know there's some sort of memory back there,
- 1:04:46but. But you got too much shit for
- 1:04:48that probably. No, it's, it's I, I got older
- 1:04:51and I knew like not everyone is financially, yeah, yeah, not
- 1:04:57lucky, but like. I don't want to be the bear like
- 1:04:59that doesn't even make a ugly car.
- 1:05:01Yeah, but no. But like, no, not an ugly car,
- 1:05:03but like if I blew all my arrow up and I couldn't afford to
- 1:05:07replace the arrow. I made the car cool once, I just
- 1:05:09can't financially make it again right now.
- 1:05:12But I can't. I still have it.
- 1:05:13It will be good again, right? But I shouldn't take away from
- 1:05:17people that really put in effort, made a really fucking
- 1:05:19sick car, blew their shit up because of one mistake, and then
- 1:05:23banned them from drifting until the shit's right.
- 1:05:24So what was it like back then when you were a stickler about
- 1:05:27it? You'd show up with like a broken
- 1:05:28bumper and you're like Nah bro. Instead, you're banned from
- 1:05:30drifting. Yeah, no, I would.
- 1:05:33No, because I would be like I I used to be the guy.
- 1:05:35Like if my bumper fell off I'd pit my shit until I got my arrow
- 1:05:38back on. I would not do a lap without
- 1:05:39flare. It's so crazy.
- 1:05:41No, that is shut up. That is what you told me and
- 1:05:45made. Me do it like rear bumper all
- 1:05:48the time. That is.
- 1:05:49No parking. That is what run across the
- 1:05:51fucking. Track I would still.
- 1:05:52I would still drift. I would still drift.
- 1:05:54I would not do a lot like he's. Taking it to a next level, yeah,
- 1:05:57yeah. Which is.
- 1:05:58One time I saw Frank, this was one of the first early times I
- 1:06:01knew Frankie and I didn't talk to him because he was pissed as
- 1:06:03fuck. He had a brand new BN kit.
- 1:06:06He was coming into E town, the bank.
- 1:06:08He was inside and he dips it and the BN bumper blows the fuck up.
- 1:06:13He comes in, you would think you'd just take it off.
- 1:06:16No, I think you had a second bumper.
- 1:06:18No, no. I had a splitter thing under it.
- 1:06:20I remember this because Justin was behind me.
- 1:06:22Flips go. Yeah.
- 1:06:23And he and you repaired it and went out.
- 1:06:25And that was my first time when I was like, why did he fucking
- 1:06:27fix it just to go? Back.
- 1:06:28Oh, OK, cool. Yeah, Yeah, that's a good
- 1:06:30example, yeah. But you talk if I.
- 1:06:33Have it, you know, like if I have it and I can fix it, but
- 1:06:35yeah, but like, if I'm on the track already and my bumper's in
- 1:06:38the middle of the track, I'm still gonna drift, you know what
- 1:06:41I mean? That's what, that's what I yeah.
- 1:06:42I'm not gonna stop stop mid lap, but.
- 1:06:44Like, yeah, yeah, yeah. If someone's like, hey, your
- 1:06:46bumper's missing, oh fuck, let me pull off, let me go get it.
- 1:06:48Slide back on. Yeah.
- 1:06:49And you probably, it's probably a little easier at that track
- 1:06:51than it is a. Oh yeah, 100% yeah.
- 1:06:53I mean it's a shifter car track. Like we only drift.
- 1:06:56It's a pretty gnarly shifter track. 4-5 chart cart track.
- 1:06:59It's cool. That's straightaway's longest
- 1:07:01buck. Imagine if you were in a shifter
- 1:07:03cart ripping down that like. Oh, dude, they're they're going
- 1:07:05serious. They're.
- 1:07:06Going. Every time I see those things
- 1:07:08I'm like just waiting for one to flip.
- 1:07:11Dude I saw one one time. So we have a garage at the shop
- 1:07:14where or at the track where we keep like all the event stuff
- 1:07:17and whatever. And I'll go there to like unload
- 1:07:20shit or like pull wheels because like all my tires and stuff are
- 1:07:23there. And one time I'm like watching
- 1:07:25people drifting or carting and this dude fucking goes wide and
- 1:07:31rolls his shit and you see him fly up in the air.
- 1:07:33It was the sickest shit ever. It was so fucking cool.
- 1:07:35I waited for him to fucking like walk back to dude.
- 1:07:38He was hurting, right? I mean he was walking, but like
- 1:07:41I was like, holy shit. I was like walked up to me.
- 1:07:43He's like Brazilian. I was like, that was the coolest
- 1:07:45fucking thing I've ever seen in this track ever.
- 1:07:47I was like just if you do that every lab that be sick.
- 1:07:50The guy actually is torn. To pieces.
- 1:07:52Yeah, like he was launching there.
- 1:07:54He was probably like 6 feet in there.
- 1:07:55It was fucking cool. I just always look at those
- 1:07:58things and it's like a wide ass cart and then just a human body
- 1:08:01sticking out and I'm just picturing it flipping and just
- 1:08:04crushing. Everything because they don't
- 1:08:05have seatbelts, they're not holding in, so they're just
- 1:08:06going to fly, OK right? But dude, it was fucking cool.
- 1:08:09Just rag dogs his ass. It was sick.
- 1:08:13They do that at E town too at the in the parking lot, but the
- 1:08:15parking lot is so shredded like if you.
- 1:08:16Fall and flip something in that parking lot, your face and skin
- 1:08:20and arms, whatever is. Brutal fucked.
- 1:08:23Up. That that track I hope.
- 1:08:26Is everything OK there now? Yeah, so it's just for sale.
- 1:08:30They're really adamant on selling it to another car owner,
- 1:08:35so they want too much money for it to be really like to buy it,
- 1:08:40demolish it and put like a warehouse or anything on it.
- 1:08:43So I think it'll wind up just trading hands to someone else
- 1:08:45that keeps it a cart track and then they'll just keep operating
- 1:08:49like that. They just landed a contract to
- 1:08:51have the largest shifting cart series in the nation there, so
- 1:08:55that's why they're doing it. They're having races January,
- 1:08:59February, March, like the whole series is there.
- 1:09:00Do you think that we'll have a positive or negative on Knuckle
- 1:09:04Up itself? I don't it won't affect it at
- 1:09:07all as long as it's like that series is pretty big.
- 1:09:12There's like 3 big series in the nation.
- 1:09:14Two of them transferred from Florida to Texas.
- 1:09:17So they're driving them January, February, March.
- 1:09:19So that's good. It's more money for them.
- 1:09:22It just means we're going to be able to keep driving there and
- 1:09:24just keep doing our thing for longer.
- 1:09:26So I was. I went to the one and then all
- 1:09:29of that, like rumblings and stuff started happening and I
- 1:09:32was like, God damn it, yeah, it's just Internet.
- 1:09:35Like bullshit. Like people were like, oh, it's
- 1:09:37closing. We had to go drive it and shit
- 1:09:38like that. And.
- 1:09:39They just don't fucking know. Like I see it all the time, like
- 1:09:43whatever. And I almost caved in and was
- 1:09:46like, all right, speed sports is like in jeopardy.
- 1:09:49Let me just open the floodgates and let more people drive.
- 1:09:51Like, no, fuck that. Just build your cars.
- 1:09:54You'll have time. It's not going anywhere.
- 1:09:57You'll have plenty of time you. Still like gone to businessman.
- 1:10:00Yeah, I'm. Just going to die on the hill.
- 1:10:03Like I hate, I hate to say this, but I think the gatekeeping is
- 1:10:07really helping create. You know a.
- 1:10:09Lot of events do that now, right?
- 1:10:11Yeah, well, I. Like they, they do the they vote
- 1:10:14drivers in, you have to apply. They don't let anybody in
- 1:10:16anymore like. It's a good idea.
- 1:10:18That's the only way because drifting is so mainstream now.
- 1:10:21Like it's access to everybody via social media.
- 1:10:24You just get people that are in it for like a year or two
- 1:10:26because they see it on the Internet.
- 1:10:27I want to try this. I'm going to swipe.
- 1:10:28And you got like the takeover kids going.
- 1:10:30Right. And it's just like, OK, cool,
- 1:10:33you're going to have these shitheads come in and ruin it
- 1:10:35and then they're in and out and they don't give a fuck because
- 1:10:37they're just wanting to experience it, which is cool.
- 1:10:39But like they're not in it for the reasons we're in it.
- 1:10:43And so why, why bring those people in?
- 1:10:45There's other events. Texas is very lucky.
- 1:10:47We have lots of events, lots of organizations.
- 1:10:51There's an organization in San Antonio.
- 1:10:54There's one here in Houston. Actually, there's like
- 1:10:56technically 3 here in Houston. There's like so Lone Star Drift
- 1:11:01does Vince in Dallas and in Houston Knuckle ups at speed
- 1:11:05sports, IAIAS does events at Houston police Academy.
- 1:11:13There's the used to be called loose San Antonio, but now it's
- 1:11:17River City drift. So they still do stuff in San
- 1:11:19Antonio. And then there's there's a
- 1:11:22couple like smaller organizations in Dallas.
- 1:11:26Dreamers of drift is in Austin and so they you have
- 1:11:30organizations that drive all over River City, San Antonio,
- 1:11:35anybody can drive there. Austin, anybody can drive there.
- 1:11:39IAS they do have an application process.
- 1:11:40I've never really looked into it to see what they like abide by,
- 1:11:43but it's kind of like that Lone Star drift.
- 1:11:46Anybody can drive Lone Star and there's like a kind of this
- 1:11:49thing for everything like Lone Star.
- 1:11:51If you want to go compete, that's where you go.
- 1:11:53They have Street Legal and they have Pro AM I, I did Pro Am a
- 1:11:57couple months ago. Fantastic.
- 1:11:58It's great. It runs smoothly, everyone's
- 1:12:00welcoming, it's fun. Like I drove this thing in Pro
- 1:12:03AM. I was about to ask, what are we?
- 1:12:06Driving in Pro AM I drove this thing?
- 1:12:08That's gas, yeah. It's fine, you know, like
- 1:12:10everybody, it was fine, you know, So I, you know, I did
- 1:12:13that. It was cool.
- 1:12:14It worked. You know, if you wanted to do
- 1:12:16that, if you just want seat time and stuff like that, IAS is
- 1:12:18where it's at. You can go to HPA, you can go
- 1:12:20drive. They're welcoming.
- 1:12:22They, they have like a training course, They can drive the big
- 1:12:24track. So like and then knuckle up.
- 1:12:26If you really want the cool shit, then you can just apply
- 1:12:29and come drive with us. So there's all facets of
- 1:12:31drifting here in Houston. So if one of them is
- 1:12:34gatekeeping, it's like, all right, dude, it's fine.
- 1:12:36Yeah. And like people are not a big
- 1:12:37deal. Like you, like the people that
- 1:12:39Dr. Knuckle up have no interest in driving anything else and the
- 1:12:43people that aren't allowed to drive Knuckle.
- 1:12:46Up are mad about it. Well, no, but like, but they,
- 1:12:49they can go Dr. HPA, they can go drive, they can go drive all
- 1:12:51that other shit. Yeah.
- 1:12:53They have more opportunities, really.
- 1:12:54You can go to Austin, go drive. You know, you can go to San
- 1:12:56Antonio, you can go to Dallas, all that other shit.
- 1:12:59It just always seems like they're always someone's always
- 1:13:01mad. About they they, they're, it's
- 1:13:03the glass half full kind of shit that's all.
- 1:13:06Or half empty. Glass half empty.
- 1:13:09Or they just and they just don't understand it for some.
- 1:13:11Reason and like they get it. Like for the longest time,
- 1:13:14people would like be pissed off and I would just here's my phone
- 1:13:17number. Call me, let's discuss.
- 1:13:19I don't want to bullshit through DMS Call me because you can feel
- 1:13:22the emotion and I'm going to explain to you exactly what it
- 1:13:25is. And I've had dozens of people
- 1:13:27call me and I explained to them I'm like, they're oh, OK, I get
- 1:13:30it now. Yeah, because you can't get the
- 1:13:32emotion through DMS. I'm not being a Dick head and bullying
- 1:13:35you. I'm saying, well, I am bullying
- 1:13:36you, but I'm not, I'm not being a Dick head, being rude.
- 1:13:39I'm just saying, hey, look, this is what we want.
- 1:13:41This is what we're trying to keep.
- 1:13:43If you were passionate and wanted to keep the thing that
- 1:13:46you love, you know, pure, then you would do the same thing.
- 1:13:49Yeah, dude, I like the text and app, not the text.
- 1:13:51And I like the the voting application process.
- 1:13:54Yeah, because like, now what, are you gonna fucking yell at
- 1:13:57these 83 people that just voted on your shit to not come in here
- 1:13:59because it's ugly? That's 83 people.
- 1:14:01That's that. No, that was the major key
- 1:14:04solution to a. 100%, yeah. That's kind of fire.
- 1:14:07Yeah, absolutely. Let's community though, let them
- 1:14:09do it. So how do you throw those up?
- 1:14:10You just throw it up one day like yo.
- 1:14:12No. So we just started our hold on.
- 1:14:14Get the tiki torches bro. Yeah.
- 1:14:16Yeah. Pitchforks No, no, I we just
- 1:14:19started. So I do.
- 1:14:20I used to do individual applications all the time and
- 1:14:24people would be like, oh, can I apply?
- 1:14:25I'm like, all right, kind of like whatever, Oh yeah, your
- 1:14:27shit's cool, come on in. Because again, money can't buy
- 1:14:31style. So if you have a cool car, we
- 1:14:33can teach you how to drift. You can get better at drifting.
- 1:14:36I haven't really seen too many people that have gotten better
- 1:14:39with style. Yeah, it's definitely harder to
- 1:14:41go that way. It's way harder.
- 1:14:42There's a couple guys that are like, OK, cool, you turn the
- 1:14:44fucking leaf. That's sick.
- 1:14:47So I'd rather have a really cool car on a shitty driver than a
- 1:14:49fucking sick driver in a shitty car, yeah.
- 1:14:52Yeah. Right.
- 1:14:53I like it dude because I feel like what people forget is that
- 1:14:56drifting is a visual sport. No, no, no.
- 1:15:00Yes, I like looking at. No, no, no.
- 1:15:03It's an art. OK, yes.
- 1:15:05It's not visual. It has to abide by all the
- 1:15:08senses, has to hear, sound, cool.
- 1:15:10Sound cool? That's why no one likes fucking
- 1:15:11V eights. Everyone likes turbo shit.
- 1:15:13It sounds cooler. Has to look cool, right?
- 1:15:17It has to feel cool. You have to be, you have to be
- 1:15:19in the cars. That has to feel cool.
- 1:15:21Smell good, right? Squash fresh air and shit like
- 1:15:24that. I was thinking tires, but yeah.
- 1:15:25Tires. That's fine too.
- 1:15:26But like, it has to abide by all the senses.
- 1:15:28It's art. It's not just it's a figure
- 1:15:30skating and Motorsports. Yeah, the art is yeah.
- 1:15:33It's not. It's not visual, it's all the.
- 1:15:34Senses. It's visceral as fuck and I love
- 1:15:36that. It's all the sensories.
- 1:15:38Yeah, that's what you have. To I never really thought about
- 1:15:40that, but yeah, it's 100% accurate, yeah.
- 1:15:42But damn dude, like sometimes I forget people know that we have
- 1:15:46to look at it. Too.
- 1:15:47Yeah, like. God damn it.
- 1:15:49Man, and there's no, there's like, I get it.
- 1:15:51Some people just want to do the act of drifting.
- 1:15:53I get it. Like there's some people, right?
- 1:15:55There's some people that just want to drive SIM and stuff like
- 1:15:56that and they're fucking sick at it.
- 1:15:58And like that's just what they do.
- 1:15:59That's cool. It's like that's they want to do
- 1:16:01the it's the art versus the act. That's what I always compare.
- 1:16:05You can have the art of drifting this or the act of drifting,
- 1:16:08which is like everything else. Yeah, I've never understood that
- 1:16:11second one. The act of it.
- 1:16:13Like I never understood, like I can't get my mind in that.
- 1:16:16I'm just. Like I can, I mean, it's the
- 1:16:17same thing. Like it's like any other sport,
- 1:16:19right? It's like someone who just wants
- 1:16:21to be good at a sport. Basketball, golf, it's.
- 1:16:24Weird. It's like, it's like I don't
- 1:16:25view it as a sport. That's what it is.
- 1:16:27I feel like I. Don't know, man.
- 1:16:28Well, you're. Thinking, yeah, I mean, well,
- 1:16:30it's not like that. It's just a sport is something
- 1:16:32you're just like there's a winner.
- 1:16:34Yeah. That's all.
- 1:16:36That's why drifting. And there's never been in my
- 1:16:38mind for drifting. Right, so that's why it's art.
- 1:16:41Yeah, and art, you're never stopping your craft.
- 1:16:45You're getting better at your craft every time you.
- 1:16:47Perform something different every time.
- 1:16:48Yeah. Every lap is different.
- 1:16:51Yeah, it is. I mean.
- 1:16:54I don't think. You know why?
- 1:16:55You know why? I think it's been a while since
- 1:16:57you've had a session of drifting where you're like, really just
- 1:17:01throwing it as much as you want until your heart is tired.
- 1:17:05I mean, there's definitely those moments.
- 1:17:06It's been a while where like I'll be doing one turn over and
- 1:17:10over again, but that's because I'm trying to hit it a certain
- 1:17:12way. Sure.
- 1:17:13And that's practice, Yeah. And that's the act of drifting.
- 1:17:15Yeah, but if but if my car looked like shit I wouldn't be
- 1:17:18doing it. There you go, you.
- 1:17:19Know what I mean There it is. Like I would not be doing that
- 1:17:21your friend. Was like craft.
- 1:17:22If someone like yo, you want to drive my fucking V8, this this
- 1:17:25thing wheels good. I'd be like, no, yeah, but I'll
- 1:17:27do it like you do it for free. I'm good.
- 1:17:29Yeah, like I just don't care. I don't know.
- 1:17:32It's just different. Dude I want to hear like
- 1:17:34repetitive revving and dumping the clutch mid corner at this
- 1:17:38moment. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:17:41Yeah, God, it's been a while and it's cold and we have a little
- 1:17:44whiles to go. All right, well, let's.
- 1:17:47Keep. Going.
- 1:17:47That was a great little break. All right, good.
- 1:17:49That was nice. We enjoyed.
- 1:17:50That more often we just had a steak dinner.
- 1:17:52Yeah, the cinnamon rolls was. All right, so we talked a lot
- 1:17:55about the past. Yep.
- 1:17:56I want to talk more about where you want to go.
- 1:17:58I want to retire you. Want to be.
- 1:18:00Cash out the checks. Fucking done dude, I got kids.
- 1:18:04Because like. No, you.
- 1:18:05Don't want to. You don't want to run this
- 1:18:07forever. You know what I mean?
- 1:18:08No, I have to. You have to.
- 1:18:09I have to cuz if I I have to look at the bigger scale, if I
- 1:18:13quit then the community quits and it all falls.
- 1:18:15So like I have to self sacrifice and.
- 1:18:18You did chosen. You did chosen.
- 1:18:20Yeah, he's the glue of Texas. Drift.
- 1:18:22He kind of is right now. Yeah, I have to, yeah.
- 1:18:24Sorry about that my extent it's just.
- 1:18:27I've thought about it and I'm like I could, but like there's
- 1:18:30probably other like effects like the butterfly effect that would
- 1:18:34just it's. Going to Ripple.
- 1:18:35Yeah. And I, I can't do it.
- 1:18:37So I'd rather just like me, just take, take the L and then like
- 1:18:40everybody just. Keep it on, it sounds like
- 1:18:41nightmares haunt you about. This.
- 1:18:43No, not really because there's just moderation.
- 1:18:45Like we just had DC5. I haven't done anything in
- 1:18:50January. Like I literally just announced
- 1:18:51the new driver thing. That's the only thing I've done
- 1:18:54this month. I took the whole month off just
- 1:18:55like chill from KU like prep or do anything like.
- 1:18:58That. Yeah, you got to take a break.
- 1:19:01And oh, what you were saying about offseason and stuff like
- 1:19:03that. Technically, no, we don't have
- 1:19:05to. Usually I have summers off.
- 1:19:08I usually take summers off because it's too fucking hot.
- 1:19:11So we don't have any events. But with the current speed
- 1:19:16sports situation, like whatever, I was like, well, let's just
- 1:19:19have months there have events all the time.
- 1:19:21So this summer we're going to bring back the event or like the
- 1:19:24the comp series, we called it Summer Saga a couple years ago,
- 1:19:28but now we're just going to call it KU Lights as a play as D1
- 1:19:30lights and we're going to try to run the event at night so it's
- 1:19:35cooler. So then.
- 1:19:38We so that's going to be a hit. Yeah, I think so.
- 1:19:41I think the drivers have gotten better now over the years, so
- 1:19:44the competition will be better. It's no fault of you, that's
- 1:19:49that's you. Yeah, I know.
- 1:19:50You know what I mean? Like dude, it's just.
- 1:19:52Time Now you're going to start a.
- 1:19:53Comp Yeah, it's going. To be a small thing, it's not
- 1:19:55it's going to be friendly like bro thing like it's nothing
- 1:19:57crazy No, like I haven't even decided on what we're going to
- 1:20:01do for prizes this year. Like we did checks like money,
- 1:20:04like last time when we did the series and that brought out some
- 1:20:08people that like. Brought like super overbuilt
- 1:20:11cars. You know, and it's like I.
- 1:20:13Mean like, I get it, the car is really nice quality built.
- 1:20:16It does kind of fit, but it was just like.
- 1:20:18Too much. They thought it was more than
- 1:20:21what it was like, oh, comp series.
- 1:20:23OK, yeah, let's do it. It's like, no, this is just a
- 1:20:25chance to like mix up drivers, Yeah.
- 1:20:27And just have fun driving against each other.
- 1:20:28It's. Like comp.
- 1:20:29It's like final bout comp. Yeah, like early final bout
- 1:20:32comp, not like current final bout stuff, you know?
- 1:20:34Yeah, because I was going to say the current final bout comp
- 1:20:36stuff will have somebody getting pissed at themselves.
- 1:20:40I don't know, and it's not. Final Josh pissed.
- 1:20:43Off all the time. It's not Final Bout's fault,
- 1:20:44it's just. No, it's just natural
- 1:20:46progression. That's all it is.
- 1:20:46You can't hate it so, but I think it's a good excuse for if
- 1:20:50people do want to keep taking the summers off, then they can
- 1:20:53because they don't want to keep compete.
- 1:20:56But if you do, then you guys compete and let's get better
- 1:20:58practice kind of thing like that.
- 1:20:59So it's kind of like our offseason.
- 1:21:00You train in the offseason, let's have some fun, do a comp,
- 1:21:03we'll figure out some cool prizes or something like that.
- 1:21:06And then yeah, just. I like the comp because I all
- 1:21:10right there's I know you don't like.
- 1:21:12Really. I fucking hate competition.
- 1:21:13Yeah, there we go. There.
- 1:21:14We go, that's fine. For me but.
- 1:21:16I feel like your your style stuff would probably be.
- 1:21:19It's a good comp, yeah. It's just to make, it's not to
- 1:21:21make sure, it's just to get a little check in of where you
- 1:21:24are. How much did I develop?
- 1:21:26Like or like. Can I do this right?
- 1:21:28But. It depends on the mindset that
- 1:21:30someone comes in like they can just come in like, all right,
- 1:21:31this comp, I'm just going to book in work on this.
- 1:21:34Yeah. Or it gives people a chance to
- 1:21:36like work on something specific for Tandem that's all.
- 1:21:40Like, hey, I'm going to dive into people more.
- 1:21:42Or I'm going to like not pussyfoot off the line and try
- 1:21:45to jump people off the line and get a little bit faster so the
- 1:21:47Tam's closer. So like that, like people can
- 1:21:48use it for that. More of an expectation.
- 1:21:51Yeah, or they can just be like, hey, I've never driven with.
- 1:21:53So this person, this person, this person, maybe this is my
- 1:21:55chance to mix in and be able to drive with those people at that
- 1:21:58time. That's.
- 1:21:58All and you have that little bit of little bit of pressure to
- 1:22:01make you yeah. KU.
- 1:22:03Lights. Yeah, KU Lights.
- 1:22:05So we'll do that. And you know, we'll, we'll play
- 1:22:07the part, we'll do the banners and we'll do the cool stuff and
- 1:22:10maybe I'll get little trophies made and.
- 1:22:12Are you going to do the same rules radios?
- 1:22:15No. I don't think so.
- 1:22:16I mean, I think everybody kind of already fits that already.
- 1:22:18I don't need to imply those rules.
- 1:22:19I. Love.
- 1:22:20I love the registration 1 though.
- 1:22:21Yeah, registration's cool. I would fail this.
- 1:22:23Car's I know. That's why I was like, he's not
- 1:22:25doing it, Yeah. Why wait?
- 1:22:27Why? Before he was like registration.
- 1:22:30Yeah, this car's not. Registered yet?
- 1:22:31Oh, like street. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:22:34Grandfathered. Grandfathered.
- 1:22:37The only cars that are grandfathered in is Corolla's
- 1:22:40for KU. Like I don't care.
- 1:22:42Like I've I used to own 28 sixes way way back before my last
- 1:22:46thirteens. I.
- 1:22:46Was like what the hell? Yeah, way, way back.
- 1:22:49So Corollas have a soft spot in my heart, and Corollas are the
- 1:22:52only ones that get grandfathered in.
- 1:22:53So I don't care if it's like the shittiest Corolla, if it's the a
- 1:22:56A6, you're in KU. Damn, yeah, so it is more rare
- 1:22:59to find it really. Yeah, I mean, those cars are
- 1:23:01like 40 years old, dude. Like what do you expect?
- 1:23:03Yeah, and then people are clutch kicking them and throwing them
- 1:23:05in. Yeah, and they're.
- 1:23:06Shitty and most of them that they come drive like once or
- 1:23:08twice and they drive again because they're like, oh, I'm
- 1:23:10not really good. Yeah.
- 1:23:11So it takes a lot to drive those cars.
- 1:23:13They suck. I hope that the turn out.
- 1:23:15I mean, I think you're I think it's the opposite.
- 1:23:17Now you get like literally too much of A turn out and now
- 1:23:20you're get to filter it hopefully.
- 1:23:22Yeah, I mean, I think my current mailing list for qualified KU
- 1:23:27drivers is like over 200. Holy shit.
- 1:23:30That's a big. But there's a lot of people that
- 1:23:32applied in their first because we started in 2020.
- 1:23:36So this is our sixth year, I guess, but a lot of people when
- 1:23:39they first applied, they were like all over the US.
- 1:23:40So there's people that are on the emailing list that are like
- 1:23:42Chicago or like West Coast and shit like that.
- 1:23:44And they just applied just a they thought it like they wanted
- 1:23:47to be. A lot of people use the
- 1:23:48application just to feel accepted.
- 1:23:51And I could feed or filter out the bullshit like this person
- 1:23:53never fucking drifted or like there's no point for you to
- 1:23:56apply like you're on the East Coast or whatever.
- 1:23:59You're never going to come drive KU.
- 1:24:01You used to want to be accepted, and so that's just kind of what
- 1:24:04it is. So weird.
- 1:24:05Yeah, it's like really weird. I could see that though.
- 1:24:08Yeah, it's it's kind of cringy. It's like, I don't know, there's
- 1:24:11so many different ways to go about drifting.
- 1:24:13Like there's, there's people that are into this that
- 1:24:16literally have no friends. Like they never found a
- 1:24:18community, you know? Yeah, And I've been to events
- 1:24:21where it's like, I don't know anybody.
- 1:24:23I'll show up and drive because I'm like, I want to go drifting.
- 1:24:25And it's the worst fucking event for myself.
- 1:24:27I'm like, dude, I, I can't, like I can't go to an event that I'm
- 1:24:30not with a group of friends. Because you.
- 1:24:32It's you. Lose social drifter, I guess,
- 1:24:34yeah. But you lose the fun, yeah.
- 1:24:36And a lot of a lot of those people listen to this podcast
- 1:24:39too. Like people have said that
- 1:24:40before. They're like, oh, I wish I had
- 1:24:41this. I wish I had that.
- 1:24:42Like I wish I had a group of friends that you guys do this
- 1:24:44because it's hard to find that shit.
- 1:24:46Yeah, you used to have to interject yourself and, you
- 1:24:48know, be part of the community. IA lot of people that have that
- 1:24:51look at KU and like, oh, I want that.
- 1:24:53It's like you can have that. It just takes time.
- 1:24:55It's not going to happen overnight.
- 1:24:56You have to build it. Yeah, you know.
- 1:24:58And so, you know, there's people that have like drift orgs and
- 1:25:01like like kind of like the like towards the West Coast or
- 1:25:08something like that. And they're like, oh, dude, we
- 1:25:09wish. We just start.
- 1:25:11Dude, you if you have a core group of people, just start and
- 1:25:14people will like see it and want to like begin it and build on
- 1:25:17it. And look at the Internet now.
- 1:25:19Yeah, absolutely. Like you guys were doing this
- 1:25:21stuff when you had to probably make a flyer like without AI or
- 1:25:25any of this shit and. Oh yeah, like I don't use any AI
- 1:25:28stuff. Martino.
- 1:25:29Martino does all my art. Yeah, still like.
- 1:25:31I love Martino, missed that guy by the way, it was his birthday
- 1:25:34recently. Yeah, so Martino does all the
- 1:25:36art, but like, yeah, it's just you just have to start.
- 1:25:40That's all it is, That's all. God damn it, you built this.
- 1:25:45You really built this shit. This is this is this is you.
- 1:25:47Yeah, don't. Don't be smiling there like
- 1:25:49you're not the king, bro, You're saying.
- 1:25:50Not me, you're saying? Yeah, I was.
- 1:25:52Going to say me don't blows. No no, no dude, just cuz I.
- 1:25:55Don't give a shit. People used to say I just
- 1:25:58haven't you go I don't care. You can say haven't you or not.
- 1:26:01Facts are facts. Dude whatever man, it's going to
- 1:26:05grow forever. Yeah, I mean I.
- 1:26:08Don't know, I wanted it to grow like super big and be like, I
- 1:26:12wanted to be like the third pillar, like find about super D
- 1:26:15knuckle up. But I don't know.
- 1:26:17I've I've started to think I kind of like how underground
- 1:26:21knuckle up still kind of is and you need those underground
- 1:26:23stuff, you know, so I kind of put the pressure off myself and
- 1:26:27stopped trying to like compete with that kind of stuff, you
- 1:26:30know, so. I wouldn't even necessarily call
- 1:26:33it competing. You're just growing it, yeah.
- 1:26:35But I don't know, it's funny because we're like, I just
- 1:26:38thought about it last year. We kind of hit our second
- 1:26:41generation of KU drivers. Yeah.
- 1:26:42What do you mean like? So like the core group that was
- 1:26:45first there, everyone's got older, they're not driving as
- 1:26:49much and stuff like that. But now we're starting to
- 1:26:50getting the new kids and the new kids are driving like Fr s s and
- 1:26:54GS and shit like that and whatever.
- 1:26:56So it's like it's cool because they still have the same
- 1:26:58passion, but they they're not, I don't think a lot of them aren't
- 1:27:02into like S thirteens, S fourteens, stuff like that.
- 1:27:05It's harder to get, it's harder to get financially and they can
- 1:27:07get into an FRS for like 8 grand and then like dump it on wheels
- 1:27:11and like it. Looks cool.
- 1:27:12It's cool you. Know and they're driving and
- 1:27:14like that's their core group of friends now so it it's cool to
- 1:27:19see like the second gin rotating out.
- 1:27:21Most people will just like, oh this sucks you got to stay true
- 1:27:24and try and stuff like that. But like, if I don't have that
- 1:27:26second gin, Katie's dead. Yeah, you can't do that.
- 1:27:28It's it's done because it's so hard to maintain these pieces of
- 1:27:31shit now. Although we do say that like you
- 1:27:33can't do that. But then it's like, well.
- 1:27:35You do that, but how bad do you want it, you know?
- 1:27:37Yeah, you managed to find all of these kids now with like two 40s
- 1:27:40and whatnot that are. Yeah, I.
- 1:27:41Started it, yeah, true. And we still have a bunch of
- 1:27:44like Sr. cars. It's fucking sick.
- 1:27:47Where? Are you guys all getting these
- 1:27:50dude? Because there's none at the
- 1:27:51depots by us. No, no, we.
- 1:27:53Have a guy locally that builds our motors and like my motors
- 1:27:58built Kev's motors built by the same guy.
- 1:28:02Let's see who else a couple other drivers and stuff like
- 1:28:04that. I think we just have the the
- 1:28:07formula now and that's why push Club T 28.
- 1:28:10Like we don't need anything bigger.
- 1:28:12Speed sports is to me an equalizer.
- 1:28:14You could have stock KA with A46 where you could have a 400
- 1:28:19horsepower Sr. or Jay-Z and you're still going to like be
- 1:28:23able to tandem with each other. That's the perfect place for
- 1:28:26yeah. So like there's no point to
- 1:28:27overbuild your car if you're just driving KU and stuff like
- 1:28:30that. T 28 and it keeps it the budget
- 1:28:33low like the the cost of running a machine like that is cheap
- 1:28:38like you can do it on 225 tires, you can do it on A265 tires.
- 1:28:44It just keeps budget easy because it and it's going to
- 1:28:47work. It's factory fucking turbo.
- 1:28:48What are you really guiding these kids like when they come
- 1:28:51in? Or do you have to like really
- 1:28:53not usher them, but like kind of like, hey, don't do that.
- 1:28:57Maybe I want to try this? Time and time again I've seen
- 1:28:59people just jump head deep into shit and they just, it was a
- 1:29:04real big problem back in the day when like people want to do pro
- 1:29:06AM and shit. Just build the shit out of the.
- 1:29:08Car build the. Shit and like just go crazy debt
- 1:29:11and like put the. Radiator in the back.
- 1:29:13Well, not even that dude. Just like I want to build, I
- 1:29:16like I have to have a 400 horsepower Sr. or like I need a
- 1:29:20600 horsepower Jay-Z. And now it's much easier.
- 1:29:22But back then time and time again, people would just go into
- 1:29:25debt and just like ruin their fucking lives to go drifting.
- 1:29:28And it doesn't have to be like that.
- 1:29:30You can. You can do it way cheaper and
- 1:29:33operate way less and get the exact same enjoyment if you just
- 1:29:36keep it real simple. I feel like you just described
- 1:29:40me and all my friends, like we just went into crazy debt and
- 1:29:43yeah, that's how it felt. All the time.
- 1:29:45And I, and I preach it all the time.
- 1:29:46You have to have a good foundation.
- 1:29:47Don't start drifting unless your life's set up.
- 1:29:50And I think that helped me because I didn't start drifting
- 1:29:52until after really college and I got a job, start a career, then
- 1:29:57I started doing all this dumb shit.
- 1:29:58And most people are like they catch on like 1617, they're
- 1:30:01still in high school trying to do shit.
- 1:30:04And you know, they go to college or like not even go to school
- 1:30:06and they're like a fucking credit card swipe all that shit
- 1:30:09and they're in credit and they're like fucked up.
- 1:30:11So they're not playing the long game.
- 1:30:13That's just how it is. So a lot of times I'm like,
- 1:30:15dude, you don't need that much. Like just drive this car.
- 1:30:19Like that's why Fr s s they're sick.
- 1:30:20Dude. Just put wheels and tires on
- 1:30:22that shit and like it'll drive. It has a DIF just manual.
- 1:30:26Just enjoy it, maintain it. Done.
- 1:30:28Same thing with like Z's and G's.
- 1:30:29It's just maintaining it. Like stuff like that SRT-28, you
- 1:30:33don't need no crazy turbo stuff like that.
- 1:30:35I mean, unless you're like someone that's travelling around
- 1:30:38driving all these crazy tracks. But like, I drove Polecat in
- 1:30:40this car twice. Probably fun as fuck too.
- 1:30:43So fun, top of third, just ripping like 300 horsepower like
- 1:30:47it's the best time of life. That's the best place in the
- 1:30:48world. They're doing another one in.
- 1:30:50March. Yeah, we're going in March.
- 1:30:51Are you really fucked? Yeah.
- 1:30:53I heard that track's like the one of the best ones.
- 1:30:55Yeah, it's probably the best track in the world.
- 1:30:57In the US, it looks and flows. It's like playing a video game
- 1:31:00in real life. Race car, race tracks.
- 1:31:03I felt good that you said you could do it with AT28 because
- 1:31:05everyone was making it seem like it was crazy.
- 1:31:07Yeah, I I was, I was like, dude, I don't know, I've done it in
- 1:31:09the pink car and this car and it, it, it drives just as fine.
- 1:31:12Dumped on its fucking nuts. It drove better.
- 1:31:14Yeah, I love how you call it the pink car in this car.
- 1:31:17Yeah, pink car and red car. That's the easiest way.
- 1:31:18This is the same car. It's the same seal.
- 1:31:20Yeah, it's the same car. It's just different setups,
- 1:31:23right? One was tall, one was low.
- 1:31:25They drove just fine. I didn't change engine.
- 1:31:27No, nothing. I really want to drive that
- 1:31:30track. You should.
- 1:31:31That's it. It's a great track, but yeah,
- 1:31:32like if you're not driving like comps or like LZ War torch kind
- 1:31:38of shit, like travelling around doing all that stuff, like
- 1:31:42there's no point for crazy horsepower.
- 1:31:44Like you're going to spend more time driving your car on the
- 1:31:47street if it's like set up right than on the track.
- 1:31:51So just set it up for a street and just enjoy it.
- 1:31:53That's a like we talk about it all the time, but that taking
- 1:31:57your car out on a morning to go get coffee.
- 1:32:00I don't know you guys drink coffee in the morning, but like.
- 1:32:02Tomorrow morning, take. It go to the coffee shops like 5
- 1:32:05minutes, 10 minutes, whatever it is down the road.
- 1:32:07And in that 5-10 minutes, that's like when I'm loving on my car
- 1:32:11the most. Sometimes you just have a chance
- 1:32:14to just like, appreciate it a little.
- 1:32:15More You're going to spend more time doing that than drifting,
- 1:32:17so might as well just make it simple, reliable, all that stuff
- 1:32:20I. Don't know.
- 1:32:21Some people don't even care about that anymore.
- 1:32:23Not what? Not anymore.
- 1:32:24But like, some people just don't care about driving on the
- 1:32:26street, ever. No, and that's fine.
- 1:32:27Like I don't really drive my shit on the street anymore, I
- 1:32:29just don't have time. But.
- 1:32:31I just can't understand it. You know it is what it is.
- 1:32:33I'm like, that's like the best part of having a car.
- 1:32:35Yeah, I don't know if this helps you out, but like when they do
- 1:32:37the the little, they do a competition on the car track at
- 1:32:40English Town every year. There's no prizes.
- 1:32:43Oh, really? There's they're the steering,
- 1:32:45like the prize for everyone at the end.
- 1:32:47Top 3 is a steering wheel from Grip Royal that Chris gets.
- 1:32:50From I don't want those, Scott, but it's I'd rather have
- 1:32:52something cool. It's not the that's not what I
- 1:32:55was like kind of getting at, but it was the fact that at the
- 1:32:57drivers meeting in the morning, when it comes to like disputing
- 1:33:00a win, he's like, there's literally no disputes.
- 1:33:02You guys win nothing. You guys are getting a steering
- 1:33:04wheel. Why are we arguing about this?
- 1:33:06This is supposed to be fun. Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:33:08So like I feel like if it's not the check, think of something
- 1:33:11make. It fun?
- 1:33:12No, it'll be something. Make it fun.
- 1:33:13Stupid like. Like a body kit.
- 1:33:15That's a lot of money. Bro no, no.
- 1:33:18I mean, I like the big like billboard checks.
- 1:33:20I think that's funny. Oh yeah.
- 1:33:21Or like little small trophies like they do in Japan.
- 1:33:24An SR20I. Mean yeah fuck it right?
- 1:33:27No, all my drivers already have SRS.
- 1:33:28They. Don't need another one.
- 1:33:30But you know, just something, something like a gimmick thing
- 1:33:33I've always been big on like puns and gimmicks throughout
- 1:33:36Knuckle Up, like a lot of stuff, like no one really gets.
- 1:33:39It's only dumb shit that I thought of so.
- 1:33:43Now, now I'm going to pay attention just that little.
- 1:33:45Bit there's a lot of little stuff like.
- 1:33:46Oh yeah, you're going to pay attention, A.
- 1:33:48Little bit more. If you ever go back and look at
- 1:33:50shit like the Summer Saga stuff like years ago, those were all
- 1:33:54based off of old WWE wrestling, like Flyers, like all that
- 1:33:59stuff. The first couple of Double Cup
- 1:34:03stuff was like copies of like old Houston mixtapes.
- 1:34:08So Houston people wouldn't know that, but like the general
- 1:34:11public wouldn't. No, that I think that that's
- 1:34:14fucking brilliant. Yeah, it's just what?
- 1:34:16It's just a yeah. It's just like little dumb shit
- 1:34:18like that. It pulls and shows like you
- 1:34:21more. It's just like I'm just copying
- 1:34:23other people's shit. That's all I do and put my twist
- 1:34:25on it. I'm not original.
- 1:34:26I'm taking. It out, it always feels, yeah,
- 1:34:29when you're doing something, yeah, it's like, yeah, someone's
- 1:34:31definitely done this before. Yeah, I mean that's how S
- 1:34:33thirteens are like everyone's done every iteration color body
- 1:34:36kit of S13 like. You're like, I gotta be
- 1:34:38original. But then you see.
- 1:34:39Something and you're like, it wasn't done yet.
- 1:34:43I know and I know. You're like shit.
- 1:34:44Yeah, and that looks like shit. You like pushing an?
- 1:34:46Envelope too though, and doing things that people haven't done
- 1:34:49yet yet. So like, are you getting tired?
- 1:34:51Do you? Are you running now?
- 1:34:53Mean there, Yeah. No, there's always another dumb
- 1:34:56shit like you can pull off. Honestly, you know, I don't
- 1:35:00know. Are you liking your car right
- 1:35:01now or are you thinking you're going to change it?
- 1:35:03No. I'm not changing it.
- 1:35:03I was going to say I'm waiting for the next.
- 1:35:05Development. No, the only.
- 1:35:07Thing, the only thing that I'll do on this car is put the LMGT
- 1:35:10fours on and GT wing because there's a there's a, we call it
- 1:35:14the pink Tierra car. And it's the exact same arrow as
- 1:35:17my car, but it's green. It's a green car.
- 1:35:20It's raised up a little bit, big tire and it has AGT wing, like a
- 1:35:22gross wing. And I like got really obsessed
- 1:35:26about this car and I always give Josh shit.
- 1:35:28I'm like, all right, Josh, like when you're ready to drive, I'll
- 1:35:30build this pink Tierra car. So our cars are similar kind of
- 1:35:33and then I'll do that. But yeah, the like the wing, the
- 1:35:38trunk painted already. The wheels are ready.
- 1:35:40That's all it is. It's just whatever.
- 1:35:42But this car just like drives sick as it is, and it doesn't
- 1:35:45need to change. So yeah, it's timeless.
- 1:35:47I'm just maintaining it. It's fine.
- 1:35:49Yeah. So.
- 1:35:50It looks like a magazine car to me.
- 1:35:53It's sick. That's why I like it so.
- 1:35:54Freaking much? Yeah.
- 1:35:56What? Good.
- 1:35:56Is that anyway? It's an M Sports Rep.
- 1:35:58It's a Modello Dr. It's really fucking good.
- 1:36:02It looks pretty solid. It's really good.
- 1:36:06I did buy be in hood so being I'll put a be in hood this year
- 1:36:10on it. It's going to look exactly like
- 1:36:12the fucking demo car. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:36:15And I and I, if I would have had the Garsons, yeah, it would have
- 1:36:17been that car. But I sold them off.
- 1:36:19Damn. Yep.
- 1:36:21Do we post questions? Yeah, we got questions.
- 1:36:23Oh, nice. All right.
- 1:36:25Yeah, now I'm curious because I wonder what kind of questions
- 1:36:27Jimmy's going. To they're all going to be
- 1:36:28bullshit. No, they're not.
- 1:36:30I bet I bet those fucking ask question suits are useless.
- 1:36:33No, we. Oh no.
- 1:36:33Sometimes they're they work. Sometimes, and then, I don't
- 1:36:37know, sometimes they ask you what your favorite fucking
- 1:36:39animal is. That's fine.
- 1:36:40I don't care. Don't burn through them.
- 1:36:43Fuck yeah. What do we got all right?
- 1:36:47Fucking same bullshit from last time.
- 1:36:48Yeah, of course. Fucking what's your Taco Bell
- 1:36:50order fucking. Taco Bell orders the same as
- 1:36:52Kev's number 7 chicken quesadilla, double meat.
- 1:36:58That's different right off the. That is different though from
- 1:37:00yeah from other ones because. Kev put me on the double chicken
- 1:37:02on the quesadilla. OK.
- 1:37:04Yeah, that's a different. Everything else sucks to talk
- 1:37:06about. Run trap supreme.
- 1:37:08Nah, damn. No, dude, I used to be big Taco
- 1:37:10Bell. And then like, I like, didn't
- 1:37:12have it for a while. And then I had it and I was
- 1:37:14like, dude, this shit's dude, like.
- 1:37:15Yeah, your stomach. Cannot not even that like I have
- 1:37:18an iron gut like I can I'm a garbage disposal.
- 1:37:20All fucking say everything still, Yeah, like.
- 1:37:23To this day, 100% damn. Yeah, but like, talk about just
- 1:37:26like, dude, this shit, like why? It's the it's the same seven
- 1:37:28ingredients packaged 8000 different ways.
- 1:37:31Yeah. It's ass and you guys actually
- 1:37:33have real tacos around here. Yeah, we have like real.
- 1:37:35Tacos. Yeah, that's that's where we
- 1:37:36lose. This podcast is sponsored by AG
- 1:37:38One Guys, Spring is finally here.
- 1:37:40Snow is melting. Flowers are blooming, booming
- 1:37:42spring cleaning is in full effect, and the race tracks are
- 1:37:44prepping for a busy 2026 season. There's no better time than now
- 1:37:48to take control of your health. One habit I'm recommending to
- 1:37:50everyone this season is AG1AG1 is the clinically backed daily
- 1:37:54health drink that combines A multivitamin, pre and
- 1:37:56probiotics, super foods and antioxidants into one
- 1:38:00deliciously simple scoop. I've been taking AG1 for a few
- 1:38:02months now and notice improvements almost instantly.
- 1:38:05My gut health has never been better, and it's the easiest
- 1:38:07part of my morning routine. Just one scoop with eight to 12
- 1:38:10ounces of cold water is all it takes to keep you on the right
- 1:38:12path to improving your health. It also replaces the need for a
- 1:38:15multivitamin, which helps keep my morning routine super simple.
- 1:38:19Go to shop.drinkag1.com/faction to receive a free AG1 flavor
- 1:38:25sampler, plus a bottle of Vitamin D3 and K2 with your AG 1
- 1:38:29Welcome Kit when you first subscribe.
- 1:38:31Link is also available in the show notes.
- 1:38:33So do some spring cleaning of your own this season.
- 1:38:35Ditch your current supplement regimen and stick to just one AG
- 1:38:38One. We are super excited to be
- 1:38:41working with Wrecked Magazine. Wrecked has been capturing the
- 1:38:44best moments in drifting since the mid 2000s.
- 1:38:46After a long hiatus, they have recently been brought back from
- 1:38:49the dead with the best people in the industry leading the charge.
- 1:38:52The first couple issues have been nothing but amazing and
- 1:38:55after speaking with these guys I can tell you it's only going to
- 1:38:58get better. Now I won't lie, a print
- 1:38:59magazine being brought back to life in 2026 is pretty risky
- 1:39:03move. It's a dying industry with video
- 1:39:05content and social media flooding the market.
- 1:39:08But nothing beats the nostalgic feeling of print.
- 1:39:10It's always been the best way to get a glimpse into the
- 1:39:12automotive scene that you're interested in.
- 1:39:14Automotive magazines were the reason some of us even got into
- 1:39:17cars. To this day I still have all my
- 1:39:19magazines from high school and it's so cool to be able to go
- 1:39:21back to see how the culture was during that specific time.
- 1:39:25And to have AUS based magazine that's just focused on drifting
- 1:39:28is unreal. They have tons of information in
- 1:39:30the first two issues that I've been reading through.
- 1:39:32Everything from event coverage, specific vehicle articles,
- 1:39:35driver profiles, shop tours, much more.
- 1:39:38Even the ads are cool. For more info or if you are
- 1:39:41looking to subscribe, head on over to wreckmagazine.com.
- 1:39:44They got a bunch of other cool stuff on there as well.
- 1:39:47We are in the middle of trying to get some of these to sell
- 1:39:49here at the shop, so hopefully in the next few months we have
- 1:39:51them here to at least check out or if you want to purchase them.
- 1:39:55Yeah, and it's super expensive. Taco Bell got super expensive.
- 1:39:57All of a. Sudden dude.
- 1:39:58Any fast food is ridiculously expensive dude.
- 1:40:01Like sometimes we'll be like, yo, you guys want to get crazy
- 1:40:03tonight? You want to go to McDonald's?
- 1:40:04Dude, I'm trying to go that halal guys with you.
- 1:40:06Oh, the real, the real one. Yeah, yeah, that.
- 1:40:08Would be but with the D cars and then we hit the yeah.
- 1:40:10Whatever, I don't care if the one the one in the things.
- 1:40:12Yeah, I always remember that video.
- 1:40:14That's the first thing I think of.
- 1:40:15Frankie is like, oh dude, I want to go the whole.
- 1:40:17That's so funny. I'm glad, yeah.
- 1:40:20That's the spot because you can like pretty much throw a
- 1:40:22football across the Hudson into the city from faction.
- 1:40:25So then it's like a nice little place to meet up.
- 1:40:27Then you go have a law guys and. Dude, that was like when we used
- 1:40:31to drift in Queens and shit. Yeah, dude, that was the we
- 1:40:34drive our cars over there, like drive down Manhattan, like
- 1:40:37fucking breaking everything. Yeah, it was good.
- 1:40:40It was awesome. That's awesome.
- 1:40:41Anytime you're over there for sure.
- 1:40:44Someone said how tall are your parents?
- 1:40:46Oh my pops was 5 five. I should say like 5-8.
- 1:40:52OK, that's that's strange. We and my mom is probably 59510
- 1:40:56maybe. What happened?
- 1:40:57What, what, what did? What did you mean side of the
- 1:40:59family? They're all all the men over My
- 1:41:01mom's side of the family are over 6 three.
- 1:41:03So like my uncle's 63. My great uncles was like 6465.
- 1:41:09I'm 66, so yeah, that's just, it was just on the mom's side of
- 1:41:13me. We're all like Nordic.
- 1:41:14Or something taller than me. Yeah, we're all Nordic or some
- 1:41:17shit, whatever those Viking people are.
- 1:41:18Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:41:20That's why, that's why. Everyone was trying.
- 1:41:22To put me into perspective, like damn, I forget that I'm kind of
- 1:41:25short. That's why so many people were
- 1:41:26fucking scared when those yeah, no, absolutely Vikings came,
- 1:41:29yeah. Yeah.
- 1:41:30Dude W you you you lucked out on?
- 1:41:32That I did. Sure did.
- 1:41:34Another one Why are you so tall? We don't need to do that 225
- 1:41:38tire cap when. Oh, that's probably Adolfo's
- 1:41:41post. It is.
- 1:41:42Yeah, it is. He preaches 225 but all his car
- 1:41:44is like 500 horsepower burnout thing.
- 1:41:46Is that the? 235 is not the right number,
- 1:41:50it's 2. 2540. It's 235 probably.
- 1:41:53No, but he wants a 225 tire cap. They do another.
- 1:41:57What if you have seventeens? 45 you can't do a 225 because
- 1:42:01they don't make one in 17 yeah but everyone runs eighteens yeah
- 1:42:04Dolph was like that all the time he just runs like a stock
- 1:42:06quarters 500 horsepower RV cars and like.
- 1:42:09That's kind of cool though, that.
- 1:42:09Just does like rolling burnouts during drifting.
- 1:42:12That's kind of. Like it sounded insane.
- 1:42:14At T5. Yeah, yeah, whatever.
- 1:42:20But dude, like there's we have a buddy that we met in Japan and
- 1:42:23he drifts in Spain and their comp there is 225 really St.
- 1:42:28tire. So it has to be like a a like a
- 1:42:30like a street, like all season something.
- 1:42:33And then it kind of forces everybody to find somewhere else
- 1:42:36to get an edge. And it makes it pretty
- 1:42:38interesting from when they were talking to us. 235 is pretty
- 1:42:41fair I think. Yeah, I think.
- 1:42:42That, that's crazy, 'cause really there was Team Orange.
- 1:42:49It just slid my mind. The guy runs team Orange.
- 1:42:53Kuma Kumo, yes, Kuma Kumo. He, I think that's who he said
- 1:42:57there was like there's no difference between a 235 and 265
- 1:43:01because technically the ratio is about the same. 265 is heavier.
- 1:43:05So if you run a 235 on a 9 1/2, you might have a little bit more
- 1:43:09like patch, but it's really similar based on the ratio.
- 1:43:14So if you run a 235, it's a lighter tire, you'll be faster
- 1:43:17than a 265. I just know I never had any
- 1:43:19fucking grid with a 235 but it also had shitty tires.
- 1:43:22The ratio what like diameter? Yeah, to the.
- 1:43:25Contact patch Yeah, 'cause on a 23540 your sidewall is a little
- 1:43:30bit taller than a 265, but your 265 is wider, But like, there's
- 1:43:36really not that much wider. But because it's wider tires,
- 1:43:39heavier or something like that, it's probably some old myth just
- 1:43:45nerding out. RIP let's.
- 1:43:50Go a lot of shoe shoe on head stuff.
- 1:43:52Oh yeah, of course, yeah. Shoe head shout the shoe head
- 1:43:54chat. Yeah.
- 1:43:55Yeah, yeah, yeah, you and. You.
- 1:43:57I don't know. Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:43:58Yeah, they have a Hatch group chat.
- 1:44:00Too. Oh yeah, I know.
- 1:44:01I started that. Oh, I heard about that recently.
- 1:44:04Me and Logan Davenport started the 180 chat and then the Sylvia
- 1:44:09chat started because the 180 chat.
- 1:44:11Someone found out like that but I left the 180 chat after I sold
- 1:44:14my 180 and then. Honorable.
- 1:44:17That was an honorable. Yeah, of course.
- 1:44:18Yeah, Yeah. That's Sepika.
- 1:44:20Oh, that. Yeah, perform.
- 1:44:22Yeah. So I left and then the Sylvia
- 1:44:26chat started, and then the Sylvia.
- 1:44:27Chat seems a lot more reckless. Dude, Sylvia chat's sick, dude.
- 1:44:31It's so good. I don't know if I've used the
- 1:44:33word sick, but there's. 180 chats full of pussies
- 1:44:35apparently. Yeah, I guess.
- 1:44:37Yeah, that's. Like cuz Kev will tell me and
- 1:44:38he's like, dude, we're nowhere near like that.
- 1:44:40I was like, yeah, we're fucking sick.
- 1:44:41Yeah, where you have a mole in there.
- 1:44:44Beating you info. It's all right, I got moles in
- 1:44:46the 180. Chat, it's fine.
- 1:44:47Josh has a mole for the Sylvia chat.
- 1:44:49Yeah. But yeah, then the Sylvia chat
- 1:44:51boys, they added me after I built this thing and whatever.
- 1:44:53So it's, it's pretty funny. I was like, I'm only here
- 1:44:56because I started that and it's like kind of.
- 1:44:59Weird. And someone was like, yo,
- 1:45:00there's a lot of people in here. I was like, what?
- 1:45:01And I looked at it and I was like.
- 1:45:02Dude, Yeah, yeah, it was nothing at one point.
- 1:45:05Yeah, it was cool. Cuz I remember when it was like
- 1:45:07pretty. Tame but.
- 1:45:08When did you make that the? The one I ate chat so I put
- 1:45:13together Let's see so I OK here's the story.
- 1:45:17So I part out and bought. A bunch of parts, right?
- 1:45:19That was the whole thing. I did also hear that.
- 1:45:21Yeah, that was that too. We can go into that.
- 1:45:23That's money. Money's money, man.
- 1:45:24That's. Money's money, but I I had tried
- 1:45:28to. What was I doing?
- 1:45:31I'd, oh, I'd gotten a S13 patch shell and I need an Sr. and the
- 1:45:36only way to really get an Sr. is to buy a car that has one, take
- 1:45:39it out, part it out, make it out, and you usually end up with
- 1:45:41a free Sr. That's usually how that works.
- 1:45:43Ideally. Yeah.
- 1:45:45So there's one that was probably about an hour and a half away
- 1:45:49from here and went and go looked it up.
- 1:45:51It was like S15 swapped, like swapped way back in the day.
- 1:45:54Very cool. And the guy was like kind of
- 1:45:56bullshitting on pricing. And I was like this kind of
- 1:45:59issue, yada, yada, yada. And anyways, I end up buying
- 1:46:04that car, bringing it here and it was after looking through it,
- 1:46:06the bones were way better than the shell I had.
- 1:46:09So then I put like all my stuff on it, so it was like full Cokie
- 1:46:13180 again. Quickly.
- 1:46:14Quick bronze to E 171818 perfect spec GTR spec.
- 1:46:20It had a Maxis and a bricks. It was like perfect.
- 1:46:24Me and Damon put together the car like Z32, brakes,
- 1:46:27everything, it was perfect and it was just a paint job away.
- 1:46:32And then I went off to the deep end and stripped the whole thing
- 1:46:34down like I was going to do like whole interior paint, exterior
- 1:46:38paint, all that stuff. And I gave it to Logan to paint.
- 1:46:42And Logan like sat on it for like a fucking year and didn't
- 1:46:44do shit. And I was like, I have to have
- 1:46:45this car before my kids born or I'm not going to put this thing
- 1:46:48together. And it just never happened.
- 1:46:49He just never did it. And so I sold everything.
- 1:46:53I kept that motor and eventually all the parts I had leftover
- 1:46:57from like the thing I built this car, but that was whenever I
- 1:47:02left the Soviet, I had that car and built the 180 chat because
- 1:47:05me and Logan were like trying to like do this cool.
- 1:47:07Like very 2001 period, correct. 180.
- 1:47:11Yeah. And like Logan was like, hey, we
- 1:47:13should kind of like get everybody together and do this
- 1:47:15chat thing. And I'm like, OK, I sure.
- 1:47:17Like he's like, you know, a bunch of people.
- 1:47:18It's an article. He is like one of the people
- 1:47:20that talks the most in that chat.
- 1:47:21I was. I'm sure, yeah.
- 1:47:22I mean. Yeah, it's like Kevin too.
- 1:47:25Yeah, yeah, I don't know. So anyways, yeah.
- 1:47:26But after I sold in part of that car out, I left the chat.
- 1:47:29Yeah, it's honorable. I get it, man.
- 1:47:31But what year was that? 2019?
- 1:47:33I'm trying to remember when the fuck I even joined that shit.
- 1:47:36Yeah, probably around then maybe.
- 1:47:41Yeah, maybe 20-20, something like that, yeah. 180 chat
- 1:47:48favorite. Gucci Mane song.
- 1:47:53Let's see, let's see. Let me check.
- 1:47:57OK. Because I can tell you right now
- 1:47:59there's a couple I didn't. Realize you were, that is.
- 1:48:03That a regular play in the Sylvia while you're drifting.
- 1:48:05No, dude. That's what I just go.
- 1:48:08Right now, Gucci Mane was just plain going in.
- 1:48:13Let's see, what is my? Let's see, I'll tell you right
- 1:48:20now, Gucci Mane. I'm reading these questions
- 1:48:23right now. All right, good fuck.
- 1:48:29First date out always classic. Those are good noises.
- 1:48:37Yeah, I'm. Like that?
- 1:48:39Trying to think about it here, going through my thing.
- 1:48:41You're a freak for that. Let's see, let's see, let's see,
- 1:48:45let's see. Going through my playlist here.
- 1:48:49Lemonade and the yellow Z was. Probably lemonade was.
- 1:48:52Kind of cool. It was really cool.
- 1:48:53So at college I went to an all black college at HBCU.
- 1:48:58Interesting. It was sick.
- 1:49:00And so I at that time, like Gucci Mane had just came out and
- 1:49:04stuff like that, like out of prison and stuff.
- 1:49:06So that was really cool. So there was like a lot of Gucci
- 1:49:09stuff. Like a lot of people were like,
- 1:49:10hey, what's like, they always ask me like, what's your
- 1:49:13favorite music? Stuff like that.
- 1:49:14I was like Gucci Mane, Like, no fucking.
- 1:49:16I'm like, shit, dude, fuck yeah. Man, I don't.
- 1:49:22Know there's a lot I'm trying to figure out my library here we go
- 1:49:27ah here we go now we're getting here servants pretty good that's
- 1:49:30probably one of my favorite ones Gucci two time every time I'm
- 1:49:35listening Gucci two time is pretty my favorite 1 because
- 1:49:37every time I see it I just like I'm ready to just fucking load
- 1:49:40the AR up and just shoot a block up dude I'll fucking.
- 1:49:42Yeah. Commit felonies.
- 1:49:44I don't fucking. Curious.
- 1:49:47That's some Texas shit. All right, there's not too much
- 1:49:52in here because we posted this too late, but Kyle Allen says
- 1:49:56just sending love to JY. I watched that hatch back into
- 1:49:59you and I kind of cried. Oh, yeah, What the fuck
- 1:50:02happened? Someone crashed into you.
- 1:50:04Yeah, maybe that is that team Berserk Kyle.
- 1:50:06No, no, this is a, this is a person from where we're from.
- 1:50:09Alan Kyle. Alan Kyle, they're.
- 1:50:12That hatch into me? What the fuck?
- 1:50:14I don't know, I watched that hatch back into you and kind of
- 1:50:17cried. Maybe.
- 1:50:18I don't know. He's probably.
- 1:50:19Did you get hit by a hatch? Maybe.
- 1:50:22I don't know dude, why does Alan?
- 1:50:24Wait, is he talking about the raffle?
- 1:50:26Oh. I don't know, Alan.
- 1:50:29Back into. You you should hatch that back
- 1:50:31into you bro. Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:50:34What the fuck? He means, or maybe get the hat,
- 1:50:35maybe buy another hatch or something, I don't know.
- 1:50:38Yeah, he probably spelled something wrong or something.
- 1:50:39Yeah, maybe. He wants you to get the Hatch.
- 1:50:42Back in you. Oh, maybe.
- 1:50:43I don't know. I don't know.
- 1:50:44No, that's not what he is. He he fucks something up, but
- 1:50:46yeah, that's fine. Well, either way, you got some
- 1:50:48you got some fans on the East Coast.
- 1:50:50So yeah, yeah, Josh is in here not saying anything of relevance
- 1:50:54of. Course.
- 1:50:55No, no, no, no. No.
- 1:50:56What did Josh say? No, no, no.
- 1:50:57Yeah, Reed. Reed would.
- 1:50:57Say it. My FN That's right, I knew he.
- 1:51:03Was going to be FN dude, I'm telling you he's Josh in A.
- 1:51:05Lot, dude. I talk to Josh regularly
- 1:51:07whenever I have an idea, and you'll either be a really long
- 1:51:10tangent or it's a like the message and then it's next.
- 1:51:13Dude, yeah, me and Josh are like you'll never.
- 1:51:16I know he always talks about you bro.
- 1:51:18Again, I know the bromance is real.
- 1:51:20They're just talking shit about you.
- 1:51:22Yeah, I know, I know. I.
- 1:51:23Know that, Josh? Don't know.
- 1:51:24It's not just Frankie, actually. Not really about Frankie.
- 1:51:27Really. It's just about everybody else.
- 1:51:28It's awesome, Yeah. Well, you found your soul mate
- 1:51:31there, dude. We are fucking Class 1 haters.
- 1:51:34Yeah, it's Josh has always he's been the number one hater by us,
- 1:51:38but it's it's a good time. It always is VHS refresh said
- 1:51:43looked like you were keeping up with the higher powered cars at
- 1:51:45final bout pretty well. Wait, I might have fucked that
- 1:51:50up. He said keeping up with the
- 1:51:51higher cars at final bout pretty well.
- 1:51:53So maybe he meant like. Yeah, the higher car, yeah.
- 1:51:55Like the car seemed to be working pretty good.
- 1:51:57If I'm about the when I had the pink car, that was like the
- 1:52:02first time I left final bout like happy with my driving after
- 1:52:079-10 years. Damn.
- 1:52:09Yeah, it took me a long time because I never like, never felt
- 1:52:12like I was like, OK, this works, this works.
- 1:52:13This, yeah. And that was the best set up car
- 1:52:15probably. Yeah.
- 1:52:16And then this last year was by far my best year.
- 1:52:19Of driving, yeah. Wow, you like?
- 1:52:21It was sick like. Everything, the car just worked.
- 1:52:24It was low. You kind of disproved the whole
- 1:52:25high car thing 100%. I'm 100% and I preach it now.
- 1:52:28I'm like, dude, like it just I don't.
- 1:52:30All I did was lower the coilovers.
- 1:52:32I did. I set the car up perfectly for B
- 1:52:34knuckle like well, not maybe not perfectly, but like where I was
- 1:52:37happy with it like everything. And then I just went smaller
- 1:52:40tires and lowered it and it just drove fine.
- 1:52:42And yeah, it like worked. I was super afraid that going to
- 1:52:47find about like this low like going on entry and like scraping
- 1:52:50everything. But like the stance coilovers,
- 1:52:52like I literally sold my XR ones like the D1 spec ones and just
- 1:52:56went basic stance. Oh wow.
- 1:52:58These aren't the ones with the extra little.
- 1:53:01No, because they won't go low enough.
- 1:53:03Yeah, yeah, yeah. So I just sell them.
- 1:53:05I sold them and then bought these.
- 1:53:06So they're just basic stance and they like.
- 1:53:09There's car. Yeah.
- 1:53:10Night and day to something else. Oh yeah, 100% And like the car
- 1:53:12didn't scrape on anything. It was like perfect.
- 1:53:15I didn't crack a Fender. The only reason the Fender is
- 1:53:17cracked is because I hit people like it doesn't hit on tires or
- 1:53:22anything like that. Like it just works and that's
- 1:53:24like fully compressed it found about.
- 1:53:26This is the formula that I'm trying to make for my car
- 1:53:29without. S13.
- 1:53:31No, no. No, you're trying, you know,
- 1:53:34it's the same shit that everybody else has to do with
- 1:53:36like. Josh is clapping right now,
- 1:53:38listening. Big kits on Fr s s and shit like
- 1:53:40that. Stop trying to make an S13.
- 1:53:42Just build an S13. No yes they drive different
- 1:53:46that's all it is. Stop.
- 1:53:47I just want it to be a little better.
- 1:53:49It's OK, but it's never going to be an S13.
- 1:53:53It's him. And Josh go back and forth.
- 1:53:55It's just. I argue with Josh about the same
- 1:53:57shit, yeah. Because it's it's.
- 1:53:59I'm right. I'm right?
- 1:54:01It is the best car. I mean sure, but like I'm not
- 1:54:04even saying it's the best car, but like it's going to drive.
- 1:54:06It's going to drive. Let's talk about drifting.
- 1:54:08It's not like you're going to go get a fucking Jay ZX100 and it's
- 1:54:11going to drive like an S13. It just doesn't.
- 1:54:13You're expecting. And you kind of do have that.
- 1:54:15Well, no, the the thing that I'm missing is I feel like my car's
- 1:54:17just it was from me being poor for like and never.
- 1:54:22OK, what do you want to? What do you want to?
- 1:54:23Do. Move like a JZX that I rode in
- 1:54:27and drive in around but for some reason I'm missing something in
- 1:54:30there. OK, I don't really what did JZS
- 1:54:32have? A1J but.
- 1:54:35Yours has one J, right? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:54:36OK. What turbo?
- 1:54:38Same factory, OK boost up. Are those wheelbases the same?
- 1:54:41No. Yeah, I didn't think.
- 1:54:43That's all it is. It's not the same car.
- 1:54:45Yeah. Same subframes.
- 1:54:47It doesn't matter, it's just not going to be.
- 1:54:49It's also driving style. That too.
- 1:54:51So that I know I'm I'm like never really happy lately with
- 1:54:55my driving. I tried to be the like I tried
- 1:54:58when the pink with the car to be like the aggressive driver, shit
- 1:55:01like that and like like hard flicks and stuff like that.
- 1:55:04And it's just like that's just not my style.
- 1:55:06Yeah, I'm real floaty. Let's like do that.
- 1:55:09Like that's fine. Like I'm.
- 1:55:10That makes me feel really nice that you said that.
- 1:55:12It's just not like I tried it. Nothing wrong with it.
- 1:55:15I'm not knocking it. I wanted to try it, see if it
- 1:55:16works, stuff like that. I just maybe I could do it with
- 1:55:19more practice, obviously, but like, what's the fucking
- 1:55:23difference? Yeah, you're.
- 1:55:24Making a square into a circle. Dude, I drive a fucking car
- 1:55:27track 10 times a year. Yeah, at the end of the day,
- 1:55:30come on now. Like why am I trying to do stuff
- 1:55:32that's? Pole cat though.
- 1:55:34Pole cat. Yeah, I'm, I'm pole cat sick.
- 1:55:35Dude, that is. Not a car track.
- 1:55:37Dude that track is fun. Dude, I cannot wait to go.
- 1:55:41I just that car is a good lead car because my friends
- 1:55:44appreciate that the line is usually smoother.
- 1:55:46That's just how I learned how to drift.
- 1:55:48I'm the lead car, yeah, I just go wide and just float it.
- 1:55:50Out. That is usually what I'm doing.
- 1:55:51Yep. And like, don't spin.
- 1:55:53Yep. That's.
- 1:55:54It don't do anything special. Flip your rearview mirror up.
- 1:55:58Don't worry about it. It's their job to follow.
- 1:55:59You don't care. Hey, good luck.
- 1:56:02So we were talking before in the kitchen and we were talking
- 1:56:05about whatever we were talking about before we did the break.
- 1:56:08The art versus act and the acting of drifting.
- 1:56:10Yeah. And I was like, I was like,
- 1:56:12dude, sometimes I'll just be at the track and like someone will
- 1:56:14come up or they'll be talking to you and they're like, and you're
- 1:56:16looking at their car and they're like trying to relate to you or
- 1:56:20something. And like, yo, yeah, dude, I
- 1:56:23think I'm going to do this. And I'm like looking at their
- 1:56:24car and I'm just like, you just don't get it.
- 1:56:28Nope. But that's okay.
- 1:56:29No, yeah, 100%. But like, you just don't get it
- 1:56:31right. And I feel like Josh in that
- 1:56:33moment because that's how me and Josh are.
- 1:56:35But like, do you ever run into that situation?
- 1:56:38Every day. And like all the time, you feel
- 1:56:41like an elitist in the moment almost.
- 1:56:43But it's like. Well, Jimmy knows he's right,
- 1:56:46dude. Yeah, well.
- 1:56:48At. The end of the day, whatever
- 1:56:49those people are going to do aren't going to affect me.
- 1:56:51Like, you know, they're just not going to execute whatever they
- 1:56:53right. That's what I mean, big talk and
- 1:56:55like, I know what it takes to get this kind of quality car or
- 1:56:59build the car or anything like that.
- 1:57:01And like just based on what? Maybe it's just fucking
- 1:57:04judgmental, whatever. But like based on like their car
- 1:57:06and what they look like, it's like, dude, you're not capable
- 1:57:08of it. Yeah, you know, like I'll, I'll
- 1:57:10do lip service and say OK, yeah, cool.
- 1:57:12You know, good luck you. Know exactly if you.
- 1:57:13Need any help please reach out I'll be more help you to guide
- 1:57:16you whatever but like you know fucking 9 times out of 10/10
- 1:57:20times out of 10 in six months to a year they're not even in
- 1:57:23drifting or they have a different car ready or.
- 1:57:26Yeah, or the LSA is already swapped in.
- 1:57:28Not even that. Or like they say they're going
- 1:57:30to do this this and this or they like have this half ass Sr.
- 1:57:33swapped and like, oh, I'm going to clean up the engine, babe, do
- 1:57:35you have to do all this stuff? And like, yeah, yeah, it's two
- 1:57:37years and the same thing. Looks it looks the exact same
- 1:57:39fucking. Thing I feel like they're
- 1:57:40overwhelming themselves with being like I need.
- 1:57:43They just don't like. They don't know how to project
- 1:57:45advantage, they don't have a good foundation and live set up.
- 1:57:47Well, and before all that, I think they're just missing
- 1:57:50something that other people have that they just don't have what
- 1:57:53the extra. Cromie.
- 1:57:54It's just the execution. What like they're just not gonna
- 1:57:57be able to do it. They don't.
- 1:57:58Have the drive, they just see it.
- 1:57:59Maybe they just like doom scroll all the time and they just.
- 1:58:02Like they, yeah, like they see what they like and I'm not.
- 1:58:04Like don't know how to work towards it or anything like
- 1:58:07that. And they never set real goals.
- 1:58:09Like, I don't know. But yeah, I, I, there's a lot of
- 1:58:11people that come to me at events and say I want to drive knuckle
- 1:58:13up. This is my goal.
- 1:58:14Like da, da, da, da. I have this, this and this.
- 1:58:17And I'm like, all right, cool. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:58:18And eight times out of 10, it'll be like you're you're never
- 1:58:22going to make it because you're, you're going to, you're nowhere
- 1:58:26near it. Like they have either like a
- 1:58:29Hyundai Genesis, a Corvette Mustang, and you should see the
- 1:58:35DMS that I get all the time, like, Oh yeah, I'm going to make
- 1:58:37KU. I'm going to do it like this or
- 1:58:39like, hey, what do I need to do to get into KU?
- 1:58:42I'm like, have you not fucking scrolled to the page?
- 1:58:45Have you? Do you not understand what we
- 1:58:47post? Like what we're looking for?
- 1:58:48Like, is it not that obvious to show you like?
- 1:58:52That's the first problem, yeah. And they people are just
- 1:58:54oblivious. They are just oblivious and they
- 1:58:56have no idea. I don't know if it's lazy.
- 1:58:59I think they're just. I think they're just, no, I
- 1:59:02don't think it's laziness. I think people.
- 1:59:04Are no, it's not laziness, it's stupidity.
- 1:59:06Like it's something. I wouldn't even say stupidity, I
- 1:59:07think people are just unaware. They're just unaware like this.
- 1:59:11This Instagram. I literally got, I literally got
- 1:59:14Adm. I literally got Adm like hey,
- 1:59:16when's your next event? I don't see anything on your
- 1:59:18page on when the events are. Our yearly calendar is pinned.
- 1:59:22It's the very first post on the page.
- 1:59:24God bless you, Jimmy. That's all I'm gonna say.
- 1:59:27It's every day. It's every day there's at least
- 1:59:29one DM where it's like. If anyone that calls you an
- 1:59:32asshole or anything like that, they're not.
- 1:59:34They don't understand. They don't.
- 1:59:36Because that's why I give people my phone number to call me and
- 1:59:38talk. To me.
- 1:59:38Which is. Crazy.
- 1:59:40That's awesome. I.
- 1:59:42Don't know. Assholes don't do that, I know.
- 1:59:43But it's whatever. But I've, I've been through the
- 1:59:46mud. Like there used to be a time
- 1:59:48where, you know, we were in Facebook battles and talking
- 1:59:51shit and people were like style versus driving and da da, da,
- 1:59:54da, da. And I like, you know, that was a
- 1:59:56big problem for a lot of years. And then you know what it is,
- 1:59:59what it is but. I want to, I want to bring us
- 2:00:02back to something because we were talking about them not
- 2:00:04getting it or whatever. I can relate this to another
- 2:00:07thing that would happen a lot right when final bout started.
- 2:00:10We'd have like dudes from club loose or like other just
- 2:00:13drivers. Like they'd come up or like hang
- 2:00:15out with us and like while we're hanging out, they'd be like,
- 2:00:17yo-yo, I'm going to, I'm going to put a team together, this and
- 2:00:20that or some shit. And I'm like, right, yeah, Like
- 2:00:24I'm sure you are in my head. I'm like, I'm sure you are.
- 2:00:26They never do, no. Ever And I, I told Simba, I
- 2:00:29said, hey, anybody that starts off team, they have to be a team
- 2:00:32for two years before they drive. Please, please two years minimum
- 2:00:35because there's like I will call people out.
- 2:00:37I call people out for team hopping.
- 2:00:39Dude, yeah, that's what they all did.
- 2:00:40And I was like, that's not a, that's not the.
- 2:00:42Point you're on one team and then this team and that team
- 2:00:44like. And if you don't have a team,
- 2:00:45that's fine, yeah. You don't need a team stop.
- 2:00:48It needs to be organically the people that have teams or like
- 2:00:51created teams just for fun about they never last.
- 2:00:54Yeah. Yeah, that's.
- 2:00:55It works really shit and I'll call you out on it.
- 2:00:56I don't care like it. That's not part of it.
- 2:00:59Like you have to be a fucking nerd.
- 2:01:01Yeah, literally. To do the team thing.
- 2:01:03It'll lose its luster if it's just.
- 2:01:07It's not like I like Willy nilly.
- 2:01:09No, I I definitely told Simba a couple times joke, I mean
- 2:01:12jokingly, but like still like, dude, teams have to be two years
- 2:01:15before they compete. Fun about.
- 2:01:16I think you can't just round out a team and fortunately I've been
- 2:01:20involved in fun about and Simba's has been like, Hey, you
- 2:01:23know who's who, you know, hey, what about these people, these
- 2:01:24people, and I'll start to tell them they literally just created
- 2:01:27a team for this. Like don't.
- 2:01:27Let them. And just to continue my rant of
- 2:01:30bitching real quick on my final thought, you so you want to
- 2:01:35create a team? You want to do?
- 2:01:36Yeah, me and so and so, yeah, yeah.
- 2:01:39Yo, I have a crazy idea. Why don't you just fucking try
- 2:01:42to join one of the other ones that's already a team and we all
- 2:01:44live close to each other. Oh, you.
- 2:01:45But you, you can't let your ego down, dude.
- 2:01:48All the time. And I'm like, because if someone
- 2:01:51came up to us when we were in the peak of it and they wanted
- 2:01:53to do that, we probably would have been like, yeah, please.
- 2:01:57But it's like always, no, I need to start it.
- 2:01:59Yeah, no, no, like, and that's like I said, final out or
- 2:02:02knuckle up, Final out, feeder series.
- 2:02:04You can start a team Dr. knuckle up, practice, get good together.
- 2:02:08Our rulebook is the exact same as final out.
- 2:02:12And you can beat. You're literally getting groomed
- 2:02:14to make sure that if final out is your goal, you're going to
- 2:02:17achieve it and you're going to be able to go.
- 2:02:19That. Dude I don't know how you
- 2:02:21fucking did all this shit but like thank God.
- 2:02:23Dude, I I just wanted to bring home final bout to here because
- 2:02:26I I loved it so much. You didn't run out of air to
- 2:02:30keep. Preaching.
- 2:02:31The same shit it's I don't. Know I'm just like I'm stubborn
- 2:02:35Bless you bro like. I would get.
- 2:02:37To this that's. Exactly what I'm thinking and.
- 2:02:38Then I would end up like walling myself off to just be able to
- 2:02:43even enjoy. Something yeah, I've I've been
- 2:02:46burnt out and I was at the I was like, dude, I I think this I'm
- 2:02:49going to give it one more year. Yeah, I can only imagined.
- 2:02:52And, you know, and then I took that you're kind of chilled a
- 2:02:55little bit more and not really put as much effort into it and
- 2:02:58stuff like that and like, took a break and, you know, whatever.
- 2:03:00And then, yeah, I just, I don't know.
- 2:03:03Now I think being a dad helped because it's like, I can see the
- 2:03:06bigger picture. More people were dependent on
- 2:03:08me. So I can't just like, be selfish
- 2:03:10and be like, OK, let's just end it.
- 2:03:13We're done. Yeah, that was the other.
- 2:03:14Thing there's way too many people that are like, they
- 2:03:16don't, they don't want to go anywhere else.
- 2:03:18They don't have it in their place to go the the friendships
- 2:03:21that have been created. The.
- 2:03:22Relationships, like, if you look at the bigger picture, it's
- 2:03:25pretty fucking crazy what like Knuckle Up has done.
- 2:03:29Yeah, like as far as like that. Looks crazy to us.
- 2:03:32Yeah, and it's cool. Like it's cool to see because in
- 2:03:35my eyes it's really not that big, but I think.
- 2:03:38You just told us your mailing list is 200.
- 2:03:40Drivers well. Yeah, but like our driver are
- 2:03:42like. Spread out, yeah.
- 2:03:43But like our events are usually like 4050 drivers.
- 2:03:46It's really not that big. For the longest time I I kept it
- 2:03:50at 40. I didn't want more than 40
- 2:03:53drivers. That's a nice day.
- 2:03:54Yeah, it's never been about the money.
- 2:03:56Yeah, it never had. Like I could open the
- 2:03:58floodgates, let anybody fucking drive and fill that bitch up
- 2:04:01with 100 drivers every fucking time if I wanted to.
- 2:04:03Yeah, but it's going to look like Mad Max.
- 2:04:04It looks like shit. I don't want to deal with it and
- 2:04:06all this other stuff. And like I'm pretty sure all the
- 2:04:09drivers know each other. I know every driver like I can,
- 2:04:12you know, everyone says hello. I say like I'll stop drifting in
- 2:04:15the middle of the day and like go get on the golf cart and go
- 2:04:17drive around and say hey, check on everybody.
- 2:04:19Make sure stuff like that. Like because that's more
- 2:04:21important to me than just like have an event and just have
- 2:04:24people show up and drive and whatever, like.
- 2:04:26I think it's pretty important that not.
- 2:04:29I think it's crazy and good that you grew in a way where now, I
- 2:04:35don't know, sometimes that friend group is at that event
- 2:04:37and then let's say you just actually did get burnt out and
- 2:04:40stop. Those friends might have stopped
- 2:04:42drifting too, or like kids in the area would just not that
- 2:04:45that at the time what was cool now that it's gone so quick to
- 2:04:49them. Yeah.
- 2:04:50And they might not have anything.
- 2:04:51Yeah. And then you move on and do
- 2:04:53other stuff. That's fine.
- 2:04:54But. But yeah, no, go back to your
- 2:04:56question about having people ask stuff all the time.
- 2:05:00It's just most of the time it's never going to happen.
- 2:05:04And I will spend all the time to like, help develop someone.
- 2:05:08Those people never come back and ask, yeah, there's only been a
- 2:05:11couple people that have been like, oh, hey, I'm thinking
- 2:05:14about doing this and do this. And 10, dude, I hate when people
- 2:05:17ask for my opinion and then don't fucking do it.
- 2:05:21And then they do something else and I'm like, what the fuck do
- 2:05:25you expect? Yeah.
- 2:05:26And then they finally go back and do something because like so
- 2:05:28and so told them the exact same I fucking told them six months
- 2:05:31to a year earlier. Oh yeah, it works.
- 2:05:34I'm like, dude, I've been doing this a long time.
- 2:05:36I'm trying to make sure you, you like skip go and collect $200.
- 2:05:41Stop going around the fucking Monopoly board.
- 2:05:43And it's just infuriating. It's such a dad thing to do.
- 2:05:47Me asking about S chassis making my car.
- 2:05:49Better don't stop fucking dumb. I had like Carl.
- 2:05:54Also has he has a tendency to do like we'll tell him to do
- 2:05:58something and he'll be like I. Believe I'm right right then and
- 2:06:01there. I'll fucking burn through the
- 2:06:03fire. Yeah, before I tell you I'm.
- 2:06:05Wrong. And then a year later or and
- 2:06:06then I'll do it and then he'll do it.
- 2:06:08I. Will say I will admit I'm wrong.
- 2:06:11Every time if I, yeah, if I call you out every.
- 2:06:13That's good. Yeah, he'll he'll say all.
- 2:06:14Right. I'm sorry there.
- 2:06:15You go, that's all that matters. Yeah.
- 2:06:18Uh oh. I, Lily Bell, you.
- 2:06:19Want to come sit down? You want to come hang out?
- 2:06:23Told you the kids are going to come in here.
- 2:06:25This is my daughter. Her name is Lily Ray.
- 2:06:27Hi, Lily. Can you say hello?
- 2:06:30Did you have a good time at the mall?
- 2:06:34I like your. Ears.
- 2:06:35Yeah, you can. Ears.
- 2:06:36These are new, huh? Frankie has the same ones.
- 2:06:38Probably do. You got a new tattoo?
- 2:06:41Excellent. Told you she'd be shy.
- 2:06:44How old is she? She is 3 but she's about to turn
- 2:06:49or I told you she duck her head I.
- 2:06:51Told you it was close. It was.
- 2:06:52Close. Yeah, my sweet girl.
- 2:06:54That's the best. Yep.
- 2:06:55Dude, that's what it's about right now, yeah.
- 2:06:57I think that's why you have so much patience for these people.
- 2:06:59DM. 100% yeah, yeah, like. Look how calm you just became
- 2:07:03because you knew when it was. You got to.
- 2:07:04Yeah. Right.
- 2:07:05You want me to fix your ears? You got it.
- 2:07:08OK. You want to be on the podcast?
- 2:07:09Do you want to say anything on the mic?
- 2:07:10Yeah, you could say something to the mic.
- 2:07:11It's sweet, girl. How many kids you have?
- 2:07:142. OK, I got a boy and a girl, I
- 2:07:17got Lily and then I got Otto. Is he in the cars yet?
- 2:07:21Dude big into cars. Dude.
- 2:07:24It is awesome. Hot Wheels.
- 2:07:26He just carries Hot Wheels around all the time.
- 2:07:29They love the JZX. They play in it all the time.
- 2:07:32The JZX, the back, the back seat, it like folds down like
- 2:07:36the center and they can crawl into the trunk.
- 2:07:38So they just crawl from the back seat to the trunk, hop out of
- 2:07:40the trunk, swing back around, uh.
- 2:07:42Oh, uh oh. Auto.
- 2:07:45Hey, buddy. Hey, you want to come?
- 2:07:49Come. On we're talking about cars.
- 2:07:50Yeah, You want to come talk cars?
- 2:07:54Hi, Mom. Oh.
- 2:07:58Oh man. Yep.
- 2:08:00So yeah, Otto's super into cars. Lily, she likes cars too.
- 2:08:06She we watch drifting a lot. Yeah.
- 2:08:09So we watch like like shirts tucked in the animal style stuff
- 2:08:15like. Old Doryton stuff just planting
- 2:08:18like oh. Dude, it was.
- 2:08:19So funny we. We were.
- 2:08:21Were we coming? Back from Chick-fil-A the other
- 2:08:23day and we, we talked about the broken BMW.
- 2:08:26Was that right? Yep.
- 2:08:28So we were like, we were underneath the highway.
- 2:08:31Yeah. And there was like a guy in the
- 2:08:33the turn around, like the roundabout, and he was just like
- 2:08:37revving and doing his bubble tone.
- 2:08:38And Lily was like, Daddy, I think that car's broken.
- 2:08:42I was like, yeah, they, they tuned it to sound like that.
- 2:08:44It doesn't sound good, Huh? It's like, no, I think he needs
- 2:08:47to take it, bring it over and we can fix it for him.
- 2:08:50And I was like, that's right. We sure can.
- 2:08:53Right. Double you.
- 2:08:55Double you. So it was it was pretty funny.
- 2:08:57That was that was a pretty funny one.
- 2:08:59Or like, I mean, you'll probably see it like in KU clips, like
- 2:09:02the kids are always riding their golf carts and like, we'll just
- 2:09:05take them around and like. So you bring them to the events
- 2:09:07and. Everything.
- 2:09:07Oh, they're at every event. That's memories that they'll
- 2:09:10like. Yeah.
- 2:09:11Hopefully it'll like just kind of be like, why do I like?
- 2:09:14Being here or like, like, I don't know, I always talk about
- 2:09:16how they'll never what their experience is super rare.
- 2:09:21Yeah, you know, like who's dumb enough to bring kids to a
- 2:09:25different all the time. That makes no sense.
- 2:09:27But yeah, they're they're at every event.
- 2:09:30They're not big enough to ride in cars yet, but eventually they
- 2:09:32will be. But I mean, we'll, we'll pull
- 2:09:35the cars out and like cruise the neighborhood and like just do
- 2:09:38stuff like that. Yeah.
- 2:09:41But yeah, she she's been to every event or every event for
- 2:09:45the last three years or so. They come out all the time and
- 2:09:49be. Drifting soon?
- 2:09:50Maybe the pink car was hers. That was that was the whole
- 2:09:53thing. That was the Lily mobile.
- 2:09:54She let me borrow it for a year and then we painted it and
- 2:09:57changed it and now it's back mine, right?
- 2:10:00She had a friend of ours had a baby.
- 2:10:02Now she's a kid like a Now she's 7.
- 2:10:04When we met, she was like 4. Yeah.
- 2:10:06So during the course of the time, Quan, during the course of
- 2:10:09the time, you just see them grow up and then they grow up at the
- 2:10:11track and then they. Learn to.
- 2:10:13They learn to be at the track. Yeah.
- 2:10:15And now Stone bag, she's just walking around checking tire
- 2:10:18pressures and spraying water on the tires and just being a part
- 2:10:22of it. And it it's just insane to me
- 2:10:25that like, time flew like that and a human grew.
- 2:10:28It's a Motorsports kid. Yeah, for sure.
- 2:10:31It's like we went to mid pawn 2-3 years ago or something like
- 2:10:35that. I think Lily was like 1/1 and
- 2:10:371/2. She was like walking and we were
- 2:10:39like teaching her how to do lug nuts on the wheels and like she
- 2:10:42was like just helping and stuff like that.
- 2:10:44Or like auto when I'm working out in the car, if I'm like
- 2:10:47changing wheels or like checking something, he'll just do like
- 2:10:49the like the JDM squat, you know, and then he'll just tap me
- 2:10:53on the back. Like good job, you're working
- 2:10:54hard, good job. Thank you.
- 2:10:55And like always helps out and stuff like that.
- 2:10:57That is, that is a good man. Oh yeah, the kids, the kids live
- 2:11:00in the garage. Like I always get upset because
- 2:11:02the house is full of toys or but any as soon as I bring a car
- 2:11:06home or something like that, that's all they want to play
- 2:11:08with. Like the if the trailer and
- 2:11:09truck is outside, they only want to play on the trailer.
- 2:11:11I have to bring the ramps out because they'll run up the ramp,
- 2:11:14play on the trailer, run down the other ramp and just loop
- 2:11:16like that. It's almost like they're related
- 2:11:19to you somehow. Yeah, somehow.
- 2:11:21Right. They transferred over.
- 2:11:23But like, I was like, dude, we can get rid of all these toys
- 2:11:25and I can buy like more trailers and cars and stuff like that and
- 2:11:28just have the cars play with the kids, play with that stuff.
- 2:11:31Right. Would you want that?
- 2:11:33More cars for Daddy. Right.
- 2:11:36Yeah. Oh yeah.
- 2:11:37Oh. She's walked in, we're on.
- 2:11:38What are we doing? Yeah, what are we doing?
- 2:11:40Should we get rid of some toys and get in another car?
- 2:11:45Yes, she's like. She's locked in.
- 2:11:46You're winning. Yeah, but but yeah, no.
- 2:11:49And like, yeah, you just got to have to do it.
- 2:11:52I get that comment a lot. Like, how do you balance, like
- 2:11:55driving cars and stuff like that?
- 2:11:56And like it's just support system like.
- 2:11:58How hard was it at first I? Thought I was going to have to
- 2:12:01quit. Honestly, that's why I didn't
- 2:12:02want to start KU because Kayla, my wife, she wanted kids.
- 2:12:05Like she was adamant like that's she grew up in like a kind of a
- 2:12:08large family and stuff like that.
- 2:12:09So she like wanted kids. And I was like, I cannot not
- 2:12:12give Kayla kids. Did you want kids the whole
- 2:12:14time? I never wanted kids.
- 2:12:16It's. Funny, because right now you'll
- 2:12:17like And I'm hearing you talk, Yeah.
- 2:12:19Because I have KUI have about all those.
- 2:12:21Those are all my kids. Yeah.
- 2:12:23That's pretty much how I treat them.
- 2:12:25Yeah. I never wanted kids.
- 2:12:26Kayla wanted five. My wife.
- 2:12:27Oh, and I was like, this isn't going to work.
- 2:12:31Like, we're going to have to just end the relationship.
- 2:12:33So Otto Vado, you want to come buddy you?
- 2:12:35Want to come save my lap? Go get it.
- 2:12:43Yeah. He's such AI, call him Titty
- 2:12:45Boy. He's such a dude.
- 2:12:48He's such a mama's boy. He's about to turn 2.
- 2:12:52He's about to turn 2. And we're we're doing his
- 2:12:54birthday party. It's too fat or too.
- 2:12:56Yeah, too fast, too furious. And it's, we just used AI to use
- 2:13:00the original Fast and Furious. Oh, my gosh.
- 2:13:02And we took away everybody's face.
- 2:13:03It's just Otto's face. Like we're like Paul Walker's
- 2:13:07face is it's sick, dude, Dude, yeah, 2 Fast, 2 Furious, it's
- 2:13:11sick. We're going to have all the cars
- 2:13:13here and stuff for him. It's really cool because he's
- 2:13:15super in the cars, but. I'm glad that you became a dad
- 2:13:18because literally this is pretty fitting.
- 2:13:20For you, yeah, it's pretty natural.
- 2:13:23But yeah, a lot of people would like ask like how do you balance
- 2:13:25and stuff like that? It's just a support system.
- 2:13:27Like my wife's incredible. Like she, she mends the the
- 2:13:31house and watches the kids and stuff like that.
- 2:13:33When I'm like off and about, like find about or like the pole
- 2:13:36cat events or even just regular KU's, you know, she's, she's
- 2:13:41always taking care of the kids while I'm running this stuff.
- 2:13:43So that's, that's like the big thing.
- 2:13:45I think a lot of people don't have that when they have kids
- 2:13:47and they're trying to still do any kind of like extracurricular
- 2:13:50activities. Yeah, and drifting is such a big
- 2:13:53commitment. It is.
- 2:13:54It's a lot, not only financially, but just like.
- 2:13:57And a lot of people don't really understand it's it's a hard
- 2:13:59thing to understand. I feel like for the for an
- 2:14:02average user on a car, yeah. Yeah, Why would you want?
- 2:14:05Yeah, because it's a complete waste of everything.
- 2:14:08It's really just out of pure enjoyment.
- 2:14:10But you know, it's just like the one escape I have, essentially.
- 2:14:15And yeah, and I try to incorporate the kids as much as
- 2:14:18possible. Do you have other hobbies or is
- 2:14:20it drifting your? Driftings.
- 2:14:22That's it. Yeah.
- 2:14:23No, not anymore. It used to be video games I used
- 2:14:26to play. Me and Harris used to play tons
- 2:14:28of games, that's it. Like what?
- 2:14:31Dude, all kinds of stuff. Name it, we played it.
- 2:14:33Call of Duty. Yep, that's the only game I
- 2:14:35cared about. Oh, really?
- 2:14:35No big Halo used to play a lot. Of Halo, yeah.
- 2:14:39Destiny 1-2 like I probably have.
- 2:14:41Damn wait, these are getting into the long?
- 2:14:43Thousands of hours of that stuff, God.
- 2:14:45Dude, like when I hear that stuff, it stresses me out
- 2:14:48because I'm like, yeah, I'm just thinking thousands of hours and
- 2:14:51we're talking about drifting being nothing.
- 2:14:52It's like no that. Yeah, like any kind of battle
- 2:14:54Royale, like during that era of like, like Pub G or like.
- 2:14:59So you and Damon be running. The streets.
- 2:15:01No, I don't. I don't play with Damon anymore.
- 2:15:03Because Damon I. Play with Damon like one time.
- 2:15:05Like I played like Fortnite at launch, but I haven't played
- 2:15:10like anything after. That I didn't know anything
- 2:15:12after. That, yeah.
- 2:15:13And then it. Came out, so you had to try.
- 2:15:14For me to play, it was Call of Duty.
- 2:15:16Call of Duty Battlefield, those are like the big like
- 2:15:19multiplayer stuff. Yeah, but like played like all
- 2:15:21the fallouts. Me and Harris play like a lot of
- 2:15:26like Co-op. What do you even call them?
- 2:15:28Like campaign. Not even campaign, just like
- 2:15:31open world games, yeah, like RPG open world stuff like we'll just
- 2:15:35sneak like 40-50 hours into one and just like.
- 2:15:38Saying bro. Crazy like whatever.
- 2:15:40World or whatever. Yeah, my dad, my dad broke me
- 2:15:43when when I was young with video games.
- 2:15:44He completely shattered it because like every time I'd be
- 2:15:47playing a video game game would just walk in, look at me and be
- 2:15:49like, what are you doing? Yeah.
- 2:15:52And I'm like playing with my friends and he's like.
- 2:15:56Did you grow up only child? Only child.
- 2:15:58No. OK, so I was only child, Yeah.
- 2:16:00So yeah. So my parents were just like,
- 2:16:02and my parents were a little bit older and so like video games
- 2:16:06were just like the thing to do because I didn't have anybody
- 2:16:09else to like play with at a time or like.
- 2:16:10Yeah, my dad would just look at me like I was a failure.
- 2:16:12Yeah, like. Completely no my my parents.
- 2:16:15Were OK. Like I played tennis in high
- 2:16:17school and college. So like I had the rotation of
- 2:16:19like when we were to school, we did tennis practice and then
- 2:16:24before we had jobs, because we all had jobs in like 1617 tennis
- 2:16:29practice. And then we come home and play
- 2:16:30Halo 2. Halo 2 was and that's all we
- 2:16:32did. And then we do.
- 2:16:33We had. We'd be up at night at my
- 2:16:35friend's house playing. This we, we had like school from
- 2:16:388:00 to 4:00, whatever tennis practice from 4:00 to 6630, eat
- 2:16:43dinner and then either we had like private lessons or groups
- 2:16:48tennis till like 9 come home and then from like 9/30/10 to like
- 2:16:521-2. It's Halo.
- 2:16:54Yeah, you can't stop. And then we go sleep and then go
- 2:16:56school and that all the time. And then when we had jobs, it
- 2:16:59was like school, tennis practice jobs, Halo.
- 2:17:03And that's what we did from, like, fresh, like all through
- 2:17:05high school, yeah. And that's what we did.
- 2:17:07And then that in college was the same thing.
- 2:17:09Dude Halo was so huge back then. Dude like I how?
- 2:17:12How old are you, Jimmy? I am I turned 35.
- 2:17:15In orange. So we're the same age.
- 2:17:16Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:17:17It was the same video games. Yeah, yeah.
- 2:17:18I. Had PlayStation so I could never
- 2:17:20fucking play. Everyone was playing.
- 2:17:22Halo two and three, but like. Halo two and three I bought.
- 2:17:25I waited in line, bought the Xbox 360, got it at launch just
- 2:17:29to play Halo two more because Halo 3 didn't come out and
- 2:17:32that's all I literally like I was like, oh, Halo 3's gonna be
- 2:17:34coming out. I gotta keep.
- 2:17:35I gotta get this. So I like.
- 2:17:36I wonder when it turned into Call of Duty.
- 2:17:38It probably. Probably whenever.
- 2:17:40So like. Most.
- 2:17:40Yeah, Modern Warfare, yeah. So Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare
- 2:17:44was O seven OK same year as Halo 3 or yes?
- 2:17:49I think black because. 360 came out in O 6.
- 2:17:51The first Black Ops was the one for me.
- 2:17:52I was like, this game is addictive.
- 2:17:55So like that, the Fallouts, I mean, even before that I played
- 2:17:58like all the news for Speed Underground.
- 2:18:00Oh yeah, yeah, 1 and 2 Carbon, Midnight Club, all the Double O
- 2:18:03Sevens back then, like the night game, like night Fire and stuff
- 2:18:07like that. So, PlayStation 2.
- 2:18:09That you had. Me wanting AZ 8.
- 2:18:10Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know why I wanted.
- 2:18:12A car, but it was. But then like a lot of stuff
- 2:18:15online back in the day, it was like we played like GTA5 when it
- 2:18:18came out, played tons of Minecraft when it was out, just
- 2:18:23all that stuff. Are you laughing any?
- 2:18:25And then like, Minecraft, my guy's good, dude.
- 2:18:29So yeah, we used to do that all the time.
- 2:18:30Then kids came around and I kind of had to quit, yeah, quit video
- 2:18:33games to keep drifting, keep going and stuff like that.
- 2:18:35But. Yeah, video games is one of
- 2:18:38those things where it's like I even find like if I start
- 2:18:41playing another one, I'm sitting there now I'm a grown ass man
- 2:18:43alone and I still, I feel my dad like looking over my shoulder.
- 2:18:46Yeah, no, no, me and Lily just finished Pokémon ZA on the
- 2:18:49Switch. I was going to say, we just
- 2:18:50played the new Pokémon game. Dude, it's like always in my
- 2:18:52head. Right.
- 2:18:53We caught all the Pokémon. Yeah, we did that just recently.
- 2:18:56Well. When you have a kid, when you
- 2:18:57have kids, it's even better because you're like.
- 2:18:59Well, yeah, but like I try to like make sure like with the
- 2:19:03like Pokémon, we went in and like I read out the story and
- 2:19:06like, Oh yeah, let's go, we're going to go catch this Pokémon
- 2:19:09now, let's go find it. And so like, you're not.
- 2:19:10Just playing it to play for. No, like I try to like make it
- 2:19:13somewhat educational as corny as is, but just have them involved
- 2:19:16because. Corny, you're being a fantastic.
- 2:19:18But still but. Yeah, we do stuff like that.
- 2:19:22We haven't really played much else, but they'll get to the age
- 2:19:25where, you know, I'll probably get back into it and we'll have
- 2:19:28like 3 systems or like something and like.
- 2:19:31Now you can have a. Squad.
- 2:19:33Yeah, have a squad and we can go play together and stuff like
- 2:19:35that. That's the end goal because then
- 2:19:38I can just like, relax and like, all right, kids, you better eat
- 2:19:41all your dinner. We got to go play, you know,
- 2:19:43squad or like go start a Minecraft server and we're like
- 2:19:46building houses and stuff. Together like.
- 2:19:48The Yates. Whatever, that'd be super sick
- 2:19:51so. Yeah, that was all the
- 2:19:53questions. So I mean, we're pretty much
- 2:19:54good. I mean, this is one of my
- 2:19:56favorite podcasts. Good.
- 2:19:58I'm glad dude, Jimmy, it's been a.
- 2:20:00It's things were nice to finally get to meet, like we've got to
- 2:20:03only meet passing before. So I was like really?
- 2:20:05I hope I get to do a pod with them sometime.
- 2:20:07And I've been trying to do this for a while.
- 2:20:08Yeah, I know. I like I used to manage a a shop
- 2:20:11in Boston and I'd fly out to Boston every quarter and I was
- 2:20:15trying to like this is I or I got like go last year January of
- 2:20:21that job, but I was like trying to always like, oh, maybe I'll
- 2:20:24just fly in like a weekend early and go to fashion because I
- 2:20:27always like Jimmy was like, hey, you should swing by.
- 2:20:29Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was like all.
- 2:20:30Right. Yeah, I'm that would be fun,
- 2:20:31dude. Yeah.
- 2:20:31And just do like that whole thing.
- 2:20:33But I I never like this. Yeah, just like hang out because
- 2:20:35I fly into Logan all the time. And then Jimmy's shop was like 2
- 2:20:411/2, three hours. Maybe you're away from Boston or
- 2:20:44something like that. Yeah, I'm like, I was like
- 2:20:46thinking I'm like, you should come out for an event one day or
- 2:20:48we'll all plan to hang out. But I know it's, you know, you
- 2:20:51got kids and. Everything that's tough, yeah, I
- 2:20:53got to bring them around. The faction demo.
- 2:20:56Oh yeah, Carl's been wanting me to do an event for the last two
- 2:20:58years. But only in what did you say you
- 2:21:02no sign up? There's none.
- 2:21:04No, if I'd only that's how it was.
- 2:21:06Oh yeah, The first KU was like that because the, the KU was
- 2:21:09going to be like Texas All Stars instead of Kansai All Stars.
- 2:21:13And it was, I invited like the coolest, like the, I think we
- 2:21:17only had like 20 or 25 cars that I really thought were like super
- 2:21:21cool. And I invited them all out.
- 2:21:22And that was the first KU and it was sick.
- 2:21:25Like it was all the coolest cars that we had at the time.
- 2:21:28And that's like set the foundation.
- 2:21:30For it. But you should do the same thing
- 2:21:32like. I got to talk to you about it,
- 2:21:34yeah. Let me know I can help, I always
- 2:21:36do. Like we're starting to dive into
- 2:21:39this a little bit, yeah. Yeah, like the same thing with
- 2:21:41the Chase based stuff, like I hope with all the chase based
- 2:21:43Polecat and. Oh really?
- 2:21:44OK, I didn't realize. That yeah, yeah, we go through.
- 2:21:46Two comp that like saw you in the little.
- 2:21:47But like, we went through driver applications and like, you know,
- 2:21:51like, no, we can't have this car.
- 2:21:53That's awesome, that. Stuff like no.
- 2:21:54No, yeah, I got the e-mail the other day and it was like, you
- 2:21:56know, the car's got to look good, this or that, Yeah.
- 2:21:59And then he, you or whoever worded it pretty well.
- 2:22:01They were like, you know, we want the cars to look good
- 2:22:04because people are watching and you want to inspire the next.
- 2:22:07Exactly, yeah, you got to you got to make sure that you, you
- 2:22:10know, set up an example, you know, for the next generation
- 2:22:14because people are watching and you if you there's a lot of just
- 2:22:17like brain rod on the Internet. So you just got to make sure
- 2:22:21you're not part of that and you can just set a good example and
- 2:22:25like inspire the next generation so that you can just keep the
- 2:22:28dream alive. I think you're doing a pretty
- 2:22:29good job of that. Yeah, you're definitely doing
- 2:22:31good. Yeah.
- 2:22:33Frankie said this place is Chicago style haven for the
- 2:22:35past. Dude, that's I literally, like I
- 2:22:37said, I'm not original. I just copied Chicago.
- 2:22:39That's what I saw and I wanted to bring bring that back down
- 2:22:43here. I was like, yeah, we can have
- 2:22:44that here. Well, that's because.
- 2:22:45Everyone was like Chicago's number 1.
- 2:22:47And I was like, yeah, it is. It's it's super sick.
- 2:22:49And that's just what I wanted, because that's like, I went to
- 2:22:51Chicago and I felt. It.
- 2:22:54Yeah, dude. And I like I want this feeling
- 2:22:56all the time. How do I get this feeling all
- 2:22:57the time? Like the meats before the final
- 2:22:59bout when you go out the. Whole time and you're like.
- 2:23:01What is going on there now? Like how are all these?
- 2:23:03Cars are just out. Yeah, there was, I don't
- 2:23:06remember was which one was the one that we did where we ran
- 2:23:08into Alexi. Like First off the was that 7.
- 2:23:12That was recent. That was about 7.
- 2:23:13Yeah. 7 So 7 there was that meat at the wrap shop.
- 2:23:17Yep. And that meat was crazy too.
- 2:23:19Yeah, dude. I just remember we were driving
- 2:23:22down it was a left to go down the street to go where the rap
- 2:23:25shop was and driving down the full block.
- 2:23:28Yeah, was D car, yeah. And I was like.
- 2:23:30Whoa no way. Have y'all ever done like the?
- 2:23:33The RIP from the meet to the the post meet like through the city
- 2:23:36with all the cars like the like the probably gone.
- 2:23:39Runs. I probably have at one point,
- 2:23:41but I was never that. Deep like that, The gallery.
- 2:23:46One that's so cool. The gallery one, That was insane
- 2:23:51because like that one, there was no one winning.
- 2:23:54There's no comp. It was just like the coolest
- 2:23:56cars in the nation going to find them out and drifting.
- 2:23:59And like we did that Chicago run from the preemie in in in the
- 2:24:03city, dude. And it was.
- 2:24:05I've never felt that ever again. Yeah, I I remember being at that
- 2:24:09event, but I don't. Know if we were on that one, it
- 2:24:11was just like that was whenever the car was red and it had the D
- 2:24:14magic livery and like we were bombing and just the cars around
- 2:24:20us. I was like.
- 2:24:21And like, if someone saw this right now, like, they'd be like.
- 2:24:24What? Yeah.
- 2:24:24We're like, what? What are these nerds doing?
- 2:24:26But like, someone that, like is into this.
- 2:24:28Yeah, they're like, whoa. Like what?
- 2:24:30Oh my God. I.
- 2:24:32Remember last time we went to find a bell?
- 2:24:33We were at that. We just got to the hotel and
- 2:24:35everyone was meeting up at one of those spots and like, our
- 2:24:38hotel always overlooks us, the main highway.
- 2:24:41And you just see like Simba and like all these dudes drive.
- 2:24:44I was like, this is crazy. And that's, that's like, that's
- 2:24:47the feeling that I'm chasing and I'm always trying to recreate
- 2:24:49it. And I thought.
- 2:24:50That's all it is. Well, you're doing a good job,
- 2:24:51man. Thanks man, I appreciate it.
- 2:24:53Thank you again for do you have? Anything else that you want to
- 2:24:55add or put out there? Not that you didn't put all of
- 2:24:57that out. There, just now you know.
- 2:24:59But no, I just want to like, thank everybody.
- 2:25:03Thank my wife for sure. Number one.
- 2:25:05Yeah, my family, friends, everybody that comes to KUI
- 2:25:10really appreciate it. The spectators, all the drivers,
- 2:25:14speed ports for putting up with us, you know, and then like
- 2:25:18everybody that's like helped out, you know, like Corey Rat
- 2:25:22has helped out, Stance has helped out, USF thrash racing,
- 2:25:28and then we got some other stuff cooking up this year.
- 2:25:29I'm pretty excited for it. Yeah, it should be a good year.
- 2:25:3326 is a good year. It's going to be a lot of
- 2:25:35events. KU Lights.
- 2:25:37Hey you, Light's gonna be cool. T5 Double cup.
- 2:25:41That was fun. One we got some yeah, Brad, Brad
- 2:25:45won the first one yeah, legend yeah, that was like our first
- 2:25:48viral viral clip like Brad's big entry was the very.
- 2:25:51That's the one you showed me the.
- 2:25:53Other it was the first one that we hit like 100K.
- 2:25:55Before I met Brad, I was just talking to him and then we're in
- 2:25:59the same Discord chat and I'm like, dude, the only thing I
- 2:26:02know about Speed Sports or Knuckle Up is there's this white
- 2:26:05BRZ I've seen that does a pretty crazy entry there.
- 2:26:07And then Brad just goes, Oh yeah, that's me.
- 2:26:11Yeah, that's cool. Yeah, it was cool.
- 2:26:14And everyone was just so hyped. That clip is so freaking
- 2:26:18genuine. Yeah.
- 2:26:19Yeah, it's cool, yeah. Yeah, cuz I treat T5 like just a
- 2:26:24skate session. Yeah, that's all it is, perfect.
- 2:26:28And guys who want to try it out and go for it, Drivers that
- 2:26:31don't come hang out and cheer on your boys.
- 2:26:33And you can see, Kevin, we're all drinking seltzers and stuff
- 2:26:37and just like watching people just attack the corner and just
- 2:26:40getting hyped and we're throwing our hands up, throwing our
- 2:26:42that's cool, dude. And like.
- 2:26:43Dude, yeah, that's. It, you know, Yeah, he was.
- 2:26:45Telling me about that the. Car is coming around, there's
- 2:26:47one person just is throwing their hat.
- 2:26:50On Harris, Harris throws a snap. On the ground I.
- 2:26:53Was like, yeah, we're like, that's it.
- 2:26:55That's like the best trick. It's it's the best trick
- 2:26:57competition for T5. That's all it.
- 2:26:59Is such a hype clip. Yeah, it's, it's sick.
- 2:27:01It's so good. So yeah, just like everybody, I
- 2:27:03appreciate everybody and stuff. Well, everyone appreciates you
- 2:27:06too. Thanks.
