- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Real Talk with Mike D. Alright, welcome back
- 0:06Speaker 1: to Real Talk with Mike D. I am the one,
- 0:09Speaker 1: the only, and the original Mike D. And this is
- 0:12Speaker 1: where we keep it honest, we keep it real, and
- 0:15Speaker 1: most importantly, we talk about the things that matter. Ladies
- 0:20Speaker 1: and gentlemen, it is November, and this is a brand
- 0:23Speaker 1: new month. A fresh opportunity, another chance to get up,
- 0:28Speaker 1: dust ourselves off, take a deep breath, and remind ourselves
- 0:33Speaker 1: that we're still here. We're still fighting, and we're still
- 0:38Speaker 1: capable of doing something incredible with our lives. And today,
- 0:43Speaker 1: I want to do something a little bit different. I
- 0:46Speaker 1: want this episode to be about affirmations. Now, before anybody
- 0:51Speaker 1: rolls their eyes and says, oh boy, here we go
- 0:54Speaker 1: with the positive thinking stuff, hang on for just a second.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Because sometimes we need to hear something positive. I know
- 1:05Speaker 1: I do, and I'm sure you do as well. Sometimes
- 1:09Speaker 1: we need somebody to remind us that we're not failures.
- 1:13Speaker 1: We're not worthless. We're not forgotten, and we're certainly not finished.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Sometimes the person who needs to hear the most encouraging
- 1:23Speaker 1: words is the person staring back at us in the mirror.
- 1:28Speaker 1: And that is exactly where we are starting at today.
- 1:33Speaker 1: And we're going to talk about all that and much,
- 1:36Speaker 1: much more right after this. All right, welcome back now.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Let's talk about November. You know, it's hard to believe
- 2:00Speaker 1: we're already approaching the end of another year. Where did
- 2:04Speaker 1: the time go? You know, it feels like yesterday we
- 2:07Speaker 1: were making New Year's resolutions, telling ourselves this was going
- 2:12Speaker 1: to be our year. And here we are, 11 months later.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Maybe things didn't go exactly as planned. Maybe you experienced disappointment.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Maybe you lost somebody. Maybe you struggled financially. Maybe relationships
- 2:28Speaker 1: didn't work out. Maybe you spent more nights worrying than sleeping.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Maybe you spent this year smiling on the outside while
- 2:36Speaker 1: fighting battles nobody knew about on the inside. But here
- 2:42Speaker 1: is something I want you to remember. You made it
- 2:45Speaker 1: this far. And that means something. You don't need to
- 2:49Speaker 1: have everything figured out by November. You don't need to
- 2:54Speaker 1: have achieved every single goal. You don't need to compare
- 2:58Speaker 1: your life to somebody else. You are allowed to be
- 3:02Speaker 1: a work in progress. This month gives you permission to
- 3:05Speaker 1: start over again. And I want everybody listening to take
- 3:10Speaker 1: a moment. If you're driving, please keep your eyes on
- 3:15Speaker 1: the road. If you're sitting at home, close your eyes
- 3:19Speaker 1: and take a breath. And if you're having one of
- 3:22Speaker 1: those mornings where you just don't feel like dealing with
- 3:24Speaker 1: the world, this part is especially for you. Now, I'm
- 3:31Speaker 1: going to say some affirmations, and I want you to
- 3:33Speaker 1: say them out loud if you can. Don't just listen
- 3:36Speaker 1: to them. Believe in them. Affirmation number one. I am
- 3:43Speaker 1: stronger than the challenge I face. I may get knocked down.
- 3:50Speaker 1: but I am not staying down. Affirmation number two. I
- 3:58Speaker 1: deserve happiness, peace, love, and respect. I don't have to
- 4:05Speaker 1: beg anybody to recognize my worth. Ladies and gentlemen, I
- 4:13Speaker 1: particularly love that one. That one hits home To me,
- 4:20Speaker 1: more than most of you listening will ever imagine. And
- 4:25Speaker 1: I'm going to repeat that. I don't have to beg
- 4:29Speaker 1: anybody to recognize my worth. Now, let's move on to
- 4:36Speaker 1: affirmation number three. I am letting go of the things
- 4:41Speaker 1: I cannot control. I cannot change yesterday. but I can
- 4:48Speaker 1: make better decisions today. Affirmation number four. I am worthy
- 4:56Speaker 1: of love. I don't have to be perfect to deserve
- 5:01Speaker 1: somebody who genuinely cares about me. Affirmation number five. The
- 5:10Speaker 1: past does not define my future. My mistakes are lessons,
- 5:15Speaker 1: not life sentences. Affirmation number six. I will stop being
- 5:24Speaker 1: so hard on myself. I am human. I make mistakes.
- 5:29Speaker 1: I have bad days and I am still deserving of
- 5:33Speaker 1: good things. Affirmation number seven. I will not give up
- 5:43Speaker 1: on my dreams even if nobody supports me. Even if
- 5:49Speaker 1: nobody understands me, I will continue believing in what I
- 5:55Speaker 1: am capable of accomplishing. And finally, affirmation number eight. November
- 6:04Speaker 1: is going to be a month of growth, gratitude, healing,
- 6:08Speaker 1: and new possibilities. I am not finished. My story is
- 6:14Speaker 1: still being written. Ladies and gentlemen, that is something worth
- 6:21Speaker 1: waking up for. Now, let's get real for just a
- 6:28Speaker 1: few minutes. How many of us spend more time criticizing
- 6:32Speaker 1: ourselves than encouraging ourselves? We make one mistake and we
- 6:38Speaker 1: replay it a thousand different times. We say something wrong
- 6:42Speaker 1: and we think about it for days. We make a
- 6:45Speaker 1: bad decision and suddenly we're convinced that everything we've ever
- 6:48Speaker 1: done is wrong. Why do we do that to ourselves?
- 6:54Speaker 1: You know, we are often our own worst critics. We
- 7:00Speaker 1: forgive other people for making mistakes. But when it comes
- 7:04Speaker 1: to ourselves, we act like we're not allowed to be human. Listen.
- 7:12Speaker 1: You're going to have bad days when you don't feel motivated.
- 7:18Speaker 1: You're going to have days when getting out of bed
- 7:20Speaker 1: feels like an accomplishment. You're going to have moments when
- 7:24Speaker 1: you question your decisions, your future, and even your own worth.
- 7:31Speaker 1: One bad day doesn't mean you have a bad life.
- 7:35Speaker 1: One mistake doesn't erase all the good things about you.
- 7:41Speaker 1: And one difficult chapter doesn't mean your entire story is
- 7:44Speaker 1: going to end badly. This November, I want you to
- 7:49Speaker 1: stop punishing yourself for being human. Please give yourself some grace.
- 7:56Speaker 1: You deserve that. And here is another affirmation I want
- 8:02Speaker 1: you to carry into November. I will no longer sacrifice
- 8:08Speaker 1: my peace trying to make everybody else happy. I will
- 8:15Speaker 1: no longer sacrifice my peace trying to make everybody else happy.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Let that sink in. Because sometimes we spend so much
- 8:28Speaker 1: time worrying about everybody else that we completely forget about ourselves.
- 8:34Speaker 1: We're answering everybody else's calls. We're listening to everybody's problems.
- 8:38Speaker 1: We're trying to fix everybody's situations. We're making sure everybody
- 8:43Speaker 1: else is okay. But who is checking on you? Who
- 8:45Speaker 1: is making sure you're okay? Who's asking how you're doing?
- 8:52Speaker 1: And more importantly, are you being honest when somebody asks?
- 8:58Speaker 1: Sometimes you have to establish boundaries and sometimes you have
- 9:01Speaker 1: to walk away from situations that constantly drain you. Sometimes
- 9:07Speaker 1: you have to stop giving unlimited access to people who
- 9:10Speaker 1: only show up when they need something. And that's okay.
- 9:16Speaker 1: You're not a bad person for choosing peace. You're not
- 9:21Speaker 1: selfish for taking care of yourself. This November make your
- 9:27Speaker 1: mental peace a priority. Now I also want to talk
- 9:34Speaker 1: a little bit about dreams because somewhere along the way,
- 9:39Speaker 1: a lot of us stopped believing in ourselves. Maybe somebody
- 9:42Speaker 1: told you that you weren't good enough. Maybe somebody laughed
- 9:46Speaker 1: at your ideas. Maybe you tried something new and didn't
- 9:49Speaker 1: get the support you expected. Maybe you started something that
- 9:53Speaker 1: meant the world to you, but nobody seemed to care.
- 9:56Speaker 1: I understand. how discouraging that can feel but here's the
- 10:07Speaker 1: truth you don't need everybody's approval to pursue something meaningful
- 10:13Speaker 1: you don't need a standing ovation to take the first
- 10:16Speaker 1: step and you certainly don't need permission to believe in
- 10:19Speaker 1: yourself If you have a dream, keep working toward it.
- 10:25Speaker 1: If you have a goal, take another step. If there's
- 10:29Speaker 1: something you've always wanted to accomplish, stop convincing yourself that
- 10:33Speaker 1: it's too late. November is a reminder that you still
- 10:38Speaker 1: have time. And you know what? Speaking of dreams, let
- 10:46Speaker 1: me tell you a little something. When I work on
- 10:50Speaker 1: Real Talk with Mike D, I'm reminded that sometimes you
- 10:53Speaker 1: have to create the opportunity you've been waiting for. You
- 10:58Speaker 1: have to put yourself out there. You have to believe
- 11:01Speaker 1: that your voice matters. Even when the audience is small,
- 11:05Speaker 1: even when the support isn't there, you keep going. Because
- 11:10Speaker 1: success isn't always about how many people are watching or listening.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Sometimes success is simply refusing to quit. And ladies and gentlemen,
- 11:22Speaker 1: I refuse to quit. I love what I do. I
- 11:28Speaker 1: love having this platform. And I love being able to
- 11:32Speaker 1: talk about exactly what I want to talk about. And
- 11:39Speaker 1: if you love it, great. If you find it interesting, great.
- 11:44Speaker 1: If you don't like it, that's fine. I am not
- 11:50Speaker 1: for everybody. But ladies and gentlemen, that is going to
- 11:54Speaker 1: do it for today's episode. I greatly appreciate you being here.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I appreciate you listening. And to all of you that
- 12:02Speaker 1: supported me from day one, thank you. If you're new
- 12:09Speaker 1: to this podcast and you're just catching up, welcome. But
- 12:17Speaker 1: that's going to do it for today. I will see
- 12:19Speaker 1: you all on the very next episode.
